2. Role Of Food In The Elizabethan Era
THESIS STATEMENT: During the Elizabethan era various types of foods were eaten and
extensive details were added to these foods. Social classes also played a big role in what the rich or
poor ate.
I.Elizabethan meals were eaten at a specific time during the day. Depending on the job, civilians
ate at different a time or place.
A.People of this era usually ate three meals a day which consisted of: breakfast, dinner, and supper.
1.Breakfast was eaten right after getting up in the morning. It was normally a small meal made up
of cold foods like leftovers, eggs, or bread and butter. But since breakfast was by definition eaten
early, those who did not rise early did not eat it.

4. The Theories Of New Criticism
During the early part of the 20th century, the formalist theories of New Criticism arose as the
preeminent approach to teaching literature in college and high school curricula. Centered on the
idea that there is a single, fixed meaning inherent in a literary work, New Criticism is text centered
with no consideration given to the author or the reader. The text exists in and of itself, and New
Critics advocate methodical and systematic reading, focusing on the structure of the text to define
its meaning (Definition, n.d.). Louise Rosenblatt s groundbreaking work in Literature as
Exploration (1938/1995) and later refinement of her original thesis in The Reader, the Text, the
Poem (1978), rejects the idea of this single, fixed meaning inherent in the text. It is her theory that
the individual creates meaning through a transaction with the text based on personal associations,
thus lifting the reader to a prominent, essential position along with the author and the text (Mora
Welch, 2014). Known as transactional or reader response theory, Rosenblatt viewed the reader as
transacting with a text to create what she called the poem; the meaning that emerges from the
transaction at a given time. In Literature as Exploration (1938/1995), she argues that the same
personal, social, and cultural factors that affect how a person perceived the world will inevitably
affect the equation represented by book plus reader (p. 79). The text, however, is simply a: stimulus

6. Essay on Cuban Revolution
Almost every nation in the world has experienced a revolution. A revolution can be simply defined
as a change. When a country undergoes a revolution, its ideals that it once believed in are being
modified. Sometimes revolutionaries act intellectually, yet others may respond physically through
destruction. Some may be peaceful, some short lasting, and some pointless. Historians do argue on
identifying whether a revolution has occurred. Revolutions usually follow a rupture in the nation s
events, are directed by a hero, have an ideology and belief system, and use symbols or tools to get
its points across to the people. Cubaand its leader today, Fidel Castro, have their own roots in a

7. Gender Discrimination
Our social justice issue is gender discrimination. Gender Discrimination is a major thing going
on in our world today. Therefore, gender discrimination happens in things such as sports,
education, health, employment, laws, and in different countries. Gender discrimination was a
major thing in the past, and is still a major thing today. Men continually think women are weak,
and so women are targeted more in crimes. They also think that women won t stand up for
themselves, and women continually let men bring them down because they aren t brave
enough. In jobs they believe women won t work, and that women aren t capable enough to do
the job, so women end up getting paid less or have to work ridiculously short hours. Today in our
century, women are targeted more than men because they are considered weak. Being labeled
weak makes women are more vulnerable to at least one form of abuse. 1 in 3 women are abused
in some form at a time of their life by a man. Women are targeted for crimes, such as home break
ins, because if they live on their own, they are thought to not be able to defend themselves that
well. Women are also being killed all the time. In India, women are burned to death if they can t
meet financial requirements, while men aren t. In Egypt, women are killed if they do something
considered unclean in their family or outside their family. In South Asia more than 2 million baby

8. Classification Of Drive Essay
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MOTORS AND DRIVES:
In this segment, I will briefly review the diverse types of variable speed drives used in the
industry. For the most part, electronic AC and DC drives find their domination in manufacturing
and commercial HVAC uses of today. This brief look at drive machineries will assist you, should
you encounter any of these types in the future. In addition, I will also review the benefits and limits
of each type. The types of drives I will consider are mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic
(eddy current coupling, and rotating DC).

Size can also be a restriction. Typically, floor mounted, this device sometimes stood 3 5 feet tall

be required for mounting a drive.
HYDRAULIC MOTOR DRIVES SYSTEM:
Hydraulic drives have been, and continue to be, the rock of many metals processing and
manufacturing functions. The hydraulic motor s small size makes it ideal for situations where
high power is needed in very tight locations. In fact, the hydraulic motor s size is 1/4 1/3 the size
of an equal power electric motor.
Figure 1 8 indicates a hydraulic drive. In Figure 1 8, a constant speed AC motor operates a
hydraulic pump. The pump builds up the necessary operating pressure in the system to allow the
hydraulic motor to develop its rated power. The speed control comes from the control valve. This

9. A Multi Scale Optimization Framework
CO2 is an important greenhouse gas (GHG) and emission of CO2 to the atmosphere needs to be
reduced in order to mitigate climate change. It is imperative to device ways of proper CO2
utilization and storage. CO2 can be sequestered geologically as well as there are other ways of
CO2 utilization which can be economically viable in places where geological storage is not the
most optimal solution. In the present study, the primary focus is on the integration potential of
two GHG abatement options, which are geological sequestration of CO2 and biological
sequestration of CO2 via microalgae growth, harvest and conversion to bioproducts. There are
several ways of microalgae conversion to an array of products, as discussed in the previous
sections. The present study aims to quantify the techno economic tradeoffs and optimize the
entire supply chain of CO2 utilization to ensure the most economically feasible alternative of
CO2 usage. A multi scale optimization framework is proposed. The mathematical framework is
provided in Figure 2. The model takes into account the design of pipeline network for CO2
transport, different processing routes for microalgae conversion as well as CO2 geological
storage. A case study is considered to assess the optimal design of GHG capture, storage and/or
utilization for the state of Texas in United States. Such an effort will help inform decision and
policy makers the optimal pathway of CO2 storage and utilization procedures for a particular
location.

These attacks were intended to draw American and the southern Army of the Republic of Vietnam
(ARVN) forces away from urban areas that were the real targets of the Tet Offensive. Once
primary targets were left relatively unprotected, VC and PAVN forces attacked military and
political centers across Southern Vietnam and even infiltrated the grounds of the American
embassy in Saigon. According to U.S. General Fred Weyand, the Tet Offensive waged by enemy
forces may not have succeeded in physically taking targeted locations during the attacks but it had
overwhelmingly succeeded in inflicting a huge psychological blow to the South Vietnamese people
and their U.S. allies. Consequently, the Tet Offensive was a resounding political success for the
Communist forces because it not only broke the morale of the South Vietnamese people and made
them more vulnerable to Vietcong exploitation, but it also altered American public opinion about
the war in general. American decision makers had been confident its military would be able to

11. The Information You Need If You Want to Be a News Anchor
Introduction
For a person who wants to be an anchor of a news station like me, you think you can talk about
everything and anything pertaining to the news, this is incorrect. Every show has regulations set
by the Government. This goes for television, radio, newspaper, magazines and even for the
internet. If any sort of media fails to abide by these rules, it is easy for the company to be sued or
the network to become canceled. If you are part of the television crowd and want to go into this
career cluster, this information would be very helpful to know.
Cross Ownership
If you are interested in owning a broadcasting company, you may, however, you would not be
allowed to also own a newspaper company at the same time. This is because the Federal
Communications Commission A.K.A the FCC will not allow cross ownership. According to
Common Cause (n.d.), the Federal Communications Commission describes cross ownership as a
single owner depriv(ing) a community of important, diverse source(s) of news, information, and
opinion. This goes to show that if one company were to own both newspaper companies and news
stations in one area, then most of its information could be assumed as being biased and one sided.
This is called the cross ownership ban. Along with broadcast and newspaper cross ownership, there
is also radio and television cross ownership. This pertains to the number of television and radio
stations a company can own in one community. However, the rules on this ban

place, otherwise known as Job Sector . In the labour market, employers and companies whether

terms is defined as an economic function which supplies different level of demand and supply of
labour (Webster, 2015). E.g. labour demand is essentially the firm s demand for labour whether
high or low depending on certain factors influencing the demand whereas supply is often explained
via the individual employee s supply of labour via how much input and output they apply to the job.

In order for a company s marketing plan to be implemented effectively, and a marketing orientated
and customer focused approach to decision making taken, it should first find out as much
information as possible about its customers and markets, identifying their needs, wants,
characteristics, buying power and willingness to buy. Without this, decisions are relatively
uninformed, posing a serious risk to the business.
Marketing research can determine things such as economic growth prospects in the external
environment, pricing and cost structures of competitors, customer responses to new services,
channels of distribution for the marketing mix and sales trends by region to name a few. Marketing
research is vital to not only finding out about the environment and the customers, but also the

Thus, the author suggests that the representation of interests is shaped by collective actors and

It is important to analyse the role of institutional arrangements in the development of national
economies in New Zealand and Australia, and assesses their reaction to the pressures brought by the
processes of social and economic reforms. It presents the main theoretical traditions in comparative
political study, thus, one can apply these theoretical perspectives to the study of Australasian
economies. In the early 1980s, both countries elected labour governments after long periods of

Gender dysphoria is a complex struggle between a person s physical gender and who he or she
identifies, and this could be an individual physically born as a male that identifies as being female
and vice versa. Biological sex is determined at birth based upon the appearance of the infant, but
gender identity is how the person feels or how they identify themselves, which is where the
dysphoria comes in. It is from highly complex genetic, neurodevelopmental, and psychological
factors (Mandal, 2012), and is not the same as homosexuality or gendernonconformity. Symptoms
and signs of gender dysphoria may vary depending upon age and gender. Gender dysphoria
becomes known as a disorder when it fits certain criteria. Treatment is available when needed.
There are speculations on the cause, but no real answer. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual

stigma for individuals with gender dysphoria. The DSM 5 does provide an overarching

23. The Seven Sins Of Memory
The seven sins of memory are transience, absentmindedness, blocking, memory misattribution,
suggestibility, bias, and persistence. These are all considered failures of memory. Daniel Schacter,
who was the chair of Harvard University s psychology department, taught these rules.
The first being, Transience, transience is having an experience pass through our memory quickly.
This is related to short term memory because it not last long nor stick with us. For example, having
a short and meaningless conversation with acquaintance will usually not stay with us for a long time.
The next sin is Absentmindedness. Absentmindedness is a lack of attention given, which causes the
memory to fail. This can come from attempting to multi task or having ADD or ADHD. These
cause people to become distracted while something else is going on. Prospective memory is a major
key in absentmindedness because you are thinking about the past or future and not focusing on the
present.
Blocking is another one of the seven sins which most people experience in their life and it is not
as severe. Blocking is the inability to remember information when are trying to recall it. Most
people refer to this as a Tip of the Tongue Experience . The tip of the tongue experience is an
expression used when a memory cannot be remembered, but you are very close to doing so. For
example, trying to remember something very little like a name of someone you met in the past.

The Effects of Neutral and Non Neutral Toys on Children
Our nation has improved rapidly in the aspect of a mutual goal for gender equality. Ever since
World War 1, women have had many more responsibilities and rights to heed to. Although this is a
significant feat, America lacks to disregard the source of the very dilemma. At exceedingly young
ages, new generations are being taught by their parents and peers, strict gender roles and
expectations through the most seemingly innocent source: their toys. Cnn.com relate on the

problem. Hand in hand with the color discrimination, the constant fight between masculinity and

INTRODUCTION Oncology patients are often severely ill and often resort to aggressive
therapies with the potential of serious toxicity. The primary objective for dose escalation in
phase I trials is to avoid exposing too many patients to subtherapeutic doses while preserving
safety and maintaining rapid accrual through a reliable practical dose finding design [1]. A phase
I cancer trial aims to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), defined as the dose for
which the probability of toxicity is closest to a prespecified target toxicity rate p_T (the toxicity
probability of the true MTD). Dose limiting toxicity (DLT) is a side effect of treatments that are
serious enough to prevent an increase in dose. In other words, MTD is the highest... Show more

dose escalation designs which are optimal for determining the closest dose to the actual MTD
while exposing the least amount of patients to either ineffective with roughly match sample sizes

3+3 method with the model based embedded in mTPI. Hypothesis: The operating characteristics

early 1960 s, their popularity grew rather rapidly. They continued gaining popularity well through
the 1960 s. Although their popularity has decreased somewhat over time, the influences they have
contributed during their career have remained apparent even today.
The Beatles originated from the UK in the early 1960 s. Before becoming known as the Fab Four
the Beatles had multiple band member alterations. In August 1960, after settling on the name the

message of hope, vitality, and care freeness was not only needed but also yearned for. However not
just anyone could have filled this position. The people of the 1960 s needed something new, fresh,
and uplifting. The Beatles fit that description perfectly.
The day they arrived in America the social phenomenon known as Beatlemania began. Many say
that to describe Beatlemania with words is impossible. It was a feeling more than anything. It was
a mass hysteria and deluge of emotions that had significant and extensive effects on society. These
effects shaped life, as we know it today.
The Beatles were highly talented musicians who had a very unique sound. Many of their albums
ran with different feelings and concepts. They offered variety, which people always enjoy. The
Beatles music was rooted in American rock and roll but also included some rhythm and blues. With
the introduction of this new sound, they redefined the parameters of rock and roll.

Heroism with Conflicts The novel As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner is filled with moments

the barn on fire is just getting rid of the pain and hurt. In addition, Jewel runs in to free the mules

Jewel is caring and has respect for his mother. It also shows that he just wanted to save his horse
and after doing so remembered the coffin; feeling guilty he went back in to save it. Furthermore,
Darl enters the burning barm to help Jewel free the team and save the coffin. It is very absurd that
someone would catch a building on fire and then re enter to save things that they knew were in
there beforehand. Darl is losing his mind; he has basically contradicted his action for setting the
barn on fire. Therefore, Jewel is the hero of this incident and Darl is the idiotic character; both play
important parts but make the story very confusing. In conclusion, the way that the family acts when
fate occurs is heroic in a way that is comical and unreasonable, but in some forms not important to

For example in some cases individuals are sentenced to a term of participation in boot camps for
about 90 to 180 days which can substitute a jail term of about 10 years. However the equation of
boot camp term and the jail term substituted usually varies with the boot camp facility and the
state. In case juvenile offenders are not wiling to serve in boot camps, then they are compelled to
serve their jail term. Therefore participation in boot camps is not compulsory and individuals can
prefer to serve their original jail term instead. (Cowles, 2005)
The first boot camp was opened in the United States in Georgia and Oklahoma around 1983. The
initial set of the boot camps was to maximize the rate of deterrence, reduce the crowding in juvenile
prison, to decrease the cost of penal and the correction system, and in order to reduce the rate of
recidivism. Boot camps were however supposed to find a middle ground between restrictive prison
system and the less strict probation. Boot camps are therefore less restrictive than the system in
prisons and harsher than the system in probation.
In the recent past, there had been some disquiet from some parents and juveniles about their life in
juvenile camps. It is argued that some boots camps have been exposing juvenile to harsh military
training exposing them to various dangers which they may not be prepared for. For example in
2006, boot camps were banned in Florida following the death of Lee Anderson

how terms can acquire specific referents. The idea being that in order for a name to be able to

Points 1.When their plane crashes onto the desert island, the young English boys are left to

the leader. This decision is primarily because he is the one who blew the conch shell that

shell, too, if it weren t for his asthma. Though Piggy is the most knowledgeable candidate, he is

nature because it is an instance of man judging someone based solely upon appearance. It can be

providing adequate information based on statistical data and empirical evidences. In chapter four,
the author argues that level of education affects the potential earnings of household. Indeed he
writes, The access to education expands the potential for human capital thereby enabling one to

of the survey in which it is presented in table 4.1 that show the distribution of household heads
based on the level of general education. Based on table 4.1 it is found that the level of illiteracy
among household heads is higher in Kelantan and Perak as these two states contribute the largest

strong woman who helps change her country. Joining the rebellion and spending time in jail
changed Mate into a courageous person. In In the Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez uses the
change in Mate s characterization to describe the impact of oppression and people s need to have

During her first year at boarding school, Mate is portrayed as a shy girl who is unable to stand
up for herself. This is shown when Mate is unable to keep some girls from making fun of her.
Her thoughts are written in a diary and they give us insight into how she feels and reacts to
certain situations. Her diary is called her Little Book and she uses it to record her feelings when
she is teased. Mate writes, And you might not know this, Little Book, but I always cry when
people laugh at me (Alvarez 31). In
