Analysis Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s Scarlet Fever
Nathaniel Hawthorne Nathaniel Hawthorne was born on July 4, 1804 in Salem Massachusetts. His
father died of yellow fever when he was 4 years old and left behind a wife and 3 children. Hawthorne
was raised by an abnormal and solitary mother. He had a leg injury at a young age, which left him not
being able to move for months (Biography) . His leg injury, on the other hand, did not get in the way
of what he was dreaming of doing growing up. During the time of his leg injury, Hawthorne
developed an interest in reading and writing. He grew up being an enthusiastic reader of poetry and
exotic adventure stories. Hawthorne had to overcome a lot of obstacles growing up to become a writer.
Despite losing a father and having a leg injury at such a young age, Hawthorne became a successful
writer of the American Romantic period. Thanks to his uncles, Hawthorne attended Bowdoin College
in Maine. His uncles paid for his college tuition there. He attended the college when he was 17 years
old and spent 4 years there. At the college, he met and made friends with Franklin Piece and Henry
Wadsworth (Biography) . While he was attending college, Hawthorne missed his family so much and
returned home to Salem after graduation (Biography) . He stayed in Salem for 12 years. He came back
to Salem not only to spend time with his family, but to spend time studying puritan history and
develop his writing skills. During his 12 year stay in Salem, Hawthorne wrote a few books. He wrote a

Functional Foods And Its Effect On The Risks Of Chronic...
Functional foods are those foods that are beneficial to health and are able to reduce the risks of
chronic diseases. The interest in functional foods has increased in the recent years as people look for
safer way to improve general health and living. In India, despite of low level of public awareness
compared to western markets, functional foods and ingredients are finding huge growth as consumers
switch on to the promise of healthier foods, beverages and supplements.
On the contrary, due to urbanization the increased demand for ready to eat products at reasonable costs
also increased, particularly the bakery products. But in recent times functional foods are rapidly
increasing in popularity in sectors such as dairy products or confectionery, in bakery it is still
relatively underdeveloped. Bread is one such important staple food and the most widely consumed
bakery product all over the world. In bread making, the use of white flour (refined) has been increased
with an aim of improving the aesthetic value of white bread, which in turn led to drastic reduction in
the nutritional density and fiber content when compared to bread made from whole grain cereals. In
recent years, cereals and its ingredients such as beta glucan, arabinoxylan, resistant starch,
oligosaccharides etc are accepted as functional foods and nutraceuticals. Cereals, in particular oat and
barley, offer another alternative for the production of functional foods. By supplementing or
substituting white

A Brief Note On The History Of Pay
Written Assignment unit 2
The history of pay to click begun in 1996, the first known and documented version of a PPC was
included in a web directory called Planet Oasis. This was a desktop application featuring links to
informational and commercial web sites, and it was developed by Ark Interface II, a division of
Packard bell NEC Computers. The initial reactions from commercial companies to Ark Interface II s
pay per visit model were skeptical, however. By the end of 1997, over 400 major brands were paying
between $.005 to $.25 per click plus a placement fee.
In February 1998 Jeffrey Brewer of Goto.com, a 25 employee startup company later Overture, now
part of yahoo, presented a pay per click search engine proof of concept to the TED ... Show more

Prior to this, Yahoo s primary source of SERPS advertising included contextual IAB advertising units

Marketplace, Value Click and ad knowledge offer PPC services, as an alternative to AdWords and
AdCenter.
Paid Search Deliverables
In paid inclusion programs, search engines and their ad feed partners guarantee that their search
engine will list pages from the advertiser s website in its index. However, paid inclusion typically does
not guarantee that the advertiser s pages will rank high. At this writing, search engines Inktomi,
AlltheWeb, and AltaVista offer paid inclusion programs.
Paid placement programs, by contrast, generally guarantee that a link to the advertiser s URL will be
delivered in the search results on a matched keyword or keywords. Location of the delivered link
generally governs the fees, so advertisers will pay more to be placed higher up the page in the search
results.
Development of pay to click site through mode of payment
There are two primary models for determining pay per click: flat rate and bid based. In both cases, the
advertiser must consider the potential value of a click from a given source. This value is based on the
type of individual the advertiser is

Homosexuality In Tony Kushner s Angels In America
Homosexuality plays an important thematic role in Angels in America by Tony Kushner. This is
obvious; the play is about homosexuals during the AIDS epidemic in the 80 s. Not only is gayness
their lives, it also figures in as a distorted simulation of itself. In the postmodern era, identities have
become simulations of perceived actions instead of actual actions. Seen in rhetoric and in the play,
homosexuality becomes associated with powerlessness, sin, and disease. Kushner s characters are
greatly affected by these stereotypes and false realities of their identities. We see the way simulacra
affects the characters of Roy, Joe, and Prior. Importantly, Prior suffers under a simulation of
homosexuality as an openly gay man with AIDS, while Roy and Joe cannot fully identify as gay
because of the implications they have been taught. Roy and Joe never know an unmediated definition
of homosexuality; it forever has a negative connotation of powerlessness or sin. Prior is able to
survive his disease and break away from the oppression of the simulacra. Tony Kushner writes these
stereotypes into the rhetoric of the play to dismantle the conceptions of homosexuality. Kushner uses
Roy, Joe, and Prior to present the effects of simulated identities in Angels in America in order to
complicate the metanarrative of AIDS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the growing power and influence of the media, what people think is real is actually just a
representation, but they cannot separate or distinguish the two. This failure to separate reality from
imitation is an important aspect to simulacra. It makes it more powerful than a simple representation.
Simulacra become the reality. Dr. Dino Felluga, of Purdue University, talks about the

A Coupled Model Of Transport, Turbulence, And Mesoscale Flows
A coupled model of transport, turbulence, and mesoscale flows is proposed, including turbulence
spreading. The model consists of transport equations for plasma density and pressure coupled to a
shell model of drift wave turbulence, which incorporates coupling to mesoscale flows via disparate
scale interactions. The model can describe the turbulent cascade and its dynamical interplay with
zonal and mean shear flows as well as the profile evolution (including the profiles of turbulence
intensity itself) due to these self consistent turbulent fluxes. This simple system of equations is shown
to capture the low to high confinement (L H) transition. It is also observed that as the heating is
increased, the system goes through an intermediate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance the models including the effect of evolution of plasma turbulence driven by profile
gradients were proposed and studied by various authors (see, e.g., Refs. 7 and 18). In particular, the
model of Miki et al.7,19,20 has the advantage of including oscillations between two predators (zonal
flows and mean flows) and one prey (turbulence) while achieving the L H transition. As such, it is also
able to describe an L I H transition (L H transition with an intermediate phase), which was initially
predicted by a 0D model.21,22 However in most of the reduced models, the transport coefficients are
determined by an ad hoc shear suppression rule. Here we propose an approach based on shell models,
where the shear suppression and the predator prey dynamics are natural results of the disparate scale
interactions incorporated within the shell model description. The model that is introduced in this paper
is interesting for various reasons. It is significant, for instance, in that it makes use of a simple
description of turbulence based on shell models, yet it is able to describe the complex interplay
between turbulence and zonal flows in a natural self consistent way, without making use of ad hoc
steady state relations such as the shear suppression rule. On the other hand, the model

British Imperialism In Africa
Overview of British Imperialism
Imperialism is when a world power colonizes a smaller country or kingdom, and then proceeds to
exploit the land and resources of the kingdom or country. Through the majority of the 18th century,
imperialism was a dominant force on global relations. During the peak of the Age of Imperialism,
Queen Victoria and her British empire dominated the world. British Imperialism started in the late
1700 s because of population growth and the advances in technology industrialism that occurred
during the Industrial Revolution. The areas that the British imperialized during this time period
include India, a large part of Africa, and Australia.

Social Darwinism takes this concept, applies it to humans and states that if a culture or kingdom
cannot protect itself from other cultures kingdoms, it should not exist. This is where the term survival
of the fittest comes from; only the strongest cultures will survive. Similarly, the quest to spread
Christianity around the world as a prevailing religion became and infectious force brought about by
Imperialism. Many of the people who decided to settle different countries were people who were
looking for new opportunities, with the exception of many of those who settled in Australia, which
was used as isolation territory for dangerous criminals. Imperialism reached its height during the early
mid 1800 s, and the decline of Britain s imperial empire was around the 1960 s.
The urge to expand the British Empire led the British to seek out and conquer India. They controlled
India from around the 1750 s to 1947. Before they colonized India and made it part of the British
Empire, the British first began trading with India in the early 1600 s. Britain first started exerting
control over parts of India in the late 1700 s with the start of a trade business known as the East India
Company. They chose to imperialize India because of military benefits and Indian commodities such
as spices and precious metals. By expanding their empire, the leading world powers active at the time
were able to

The Philosophy of the American Settlers Westward...
The people of the United States who were settling westward in the early nineteenth century viewed the
Native Americans as a threat to westward expansion, and therefore pressured their leaders to set up
policies that would remove Indians. Due to the long history various conflicts between Indians and
Americans, the American settlers were apprehensive toward the Indians, leading to the perceived need
of the removal of the Indians for their safety. Andrew Jackson s negative attitude toward of the Indians
also aroused public sentiment against them. Jackson s position as a leader gave him more influence on
the people, who knew of the battles he had won against the Indians during his time as an Indian
fighter. The early 1800s was a period of westward expansion. The Great Migration was a time when
moved thousands of Americans moved west, curious about unexplored western lands and wanting to
acquire it. The appeal of the West grew, and settlers migrated. The ideals of the Manifest Destiny also
had surfaced, that it was pre ordained that the U.S. expand its borders to the Pacific Ocean. The
American people did not like any Indian presence to impede their acquisition of lands westward and
growth as a nation, despite trading with them frequently (Brinkley). The Manifest Destiny was, as
stated in Cheryl D. Bohde s article Young America, ...a philosophy that led to the expulsion of Native
Americans from lands east of the of the Mississippi. Conflicts with the Indians about

Natural Selection
Part B.
Over the millions of years organisms have been present on earth, there has been many forms of
evidence to suggest animals are evolving through natural selection. However, the question still
remains as to whether homo sapiens are still evolving through natural selection. Through the nature of
science being subject to change and many new discoveries being made each day, it is difficult to make
clear confined theories and conclusions, which will not be impacted on in the future.

statement of evolution by natural selection is no longer applicable to homo sapiens in Australia would

The main idea which discredits and contradicts evolution involves the idea that evolution proceeds by
random chance. However in Australia and among homo sapiens the only evidence to support the idea
that evolution is occurring are as a result of an organism evolving in order to adapt to the changing
environmental conditions of Australia.
Slide 23:
In conclusion, there are many different forms of evidence to support the idea of evolution by natural
selection among homo sapiens in Australia. With reference to the scientific theories and information
present today, it becomes obvious that homo sapiens in Australia are still evolving and will continue to
over time in order to cope with and adapt to environmental changes.
In the words of Sir Charles Darwin, It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most
intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.

The Characteristics Of Oligopolies
An oligopoly is a market structure characterized by; few firms either standardized or differentiated
products, and difficult entry. A key characteristic of oligopolies is that each firm can affect the market,
making each firm s choices dependent on the choices of the other firms. These are known as
interdependent. Oligopolies are made up of a small number of mutually interdependent firms. Each
firm must take into account the expected reaction of other firms.
The importance of interdependence is that it leads to strategic behaviour. Strategic behavior is the
behavior that occurs when what is best for one company depends upon what the other company does,
and vice verse. Oligopolistic behavior includes both ruthless competition and cooperation.
Oligopolies can be collusive or non collusive. Firms may engage in strategic decision making where
each firm takes explicit account of a rival s expected response to a decision it is making
The cartel model is when a combination of firms acts as if it were a single firm and a monopoly price
is set.

Key Notes to remember about the Kinked Demand Curve are:
Firms are profit maximisers
If one firm increases price, other firms won t follow suit. Therefore, for a price increase demand is
price elastic.
If one firm cuts price, other firms will follow suit because they don t want to lose market share.
Therefore, for a price cut, demand is price inelastic.

Example Of Creosote Research Paper
Fireplaces are essential for New Jersey residents, especially now that winter is coming. Sometimes,
homeowners are hesitant to use their chimneys for fear of having a fire. However, chimney fires can
usually be prevented by homeowners having their chimneys regularly inspected and maintained. If
you have a chimney, here are some important guidelines for making sure that deadly creosote doesn t
cause a fire in your home.
The Problem with Cresote
Most fires that begin in chimneys and fireplaces are caused by creosote. As wood burns in a fireplace,
the process of combustion produces creosote. This stinky, bi product accumulates in your chimney or
your flue pipe, which is an opening in your chimney used to transmit exhaust gases from your
fireplace. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, using binoculars, check to see if there are tree limbs near or above your chimney. Also, see if
there s any debris or bird nests on your chimney cap.
Be sure there are no missing or crumbling bricks and mortar on your chimney.
Ensure that your chimney rises two feet or more from the place where it departs from the roof.
What to Expect from a Professional Chimney Inspection
Because chimney cleaning is dangerous for the average homeowner, it s best to have the job done
professionally. A professional will thoroughly examine both the interior and exterior of your chimney
to see if there s any deterioration, damage or comestible building that could be unsafe. For example, a
professional chimney sweep will check:
Chimney liners
The smoke chamber
The firebox
Your fireplace A good chimney sweep uses protective materials such as blankets so that soot and ashes
don t contact your furniture and flooring.
How Often Should Your Chimney Be Cleaned?
If you only use your fireplace only day a week for just a few hours on extremely cold days, perhaps
you can have a cleaning about every two or three years. On the other hand, it s still safer to have
yearly chimney inspections and cleanings, according to the Chimney Safety Institute of

Docetism In Gnosticism
One of the early heresies was Docetism, which held that Jesus only seemed human. They based this
belief on an assumption that God can t become flesh. Docetism treats John 1:14 as figurative where it
states that the Word was made flesh. Part of their reasoning for this belief can be attributed to the view
of flesh as sinful which would result as a problem for God, who is divine, to become imprisoned
inside. However, Jesus was nailed to a cross and real blood flowed from his hands and side that is
proof that Jesus was in fact human. In Gnosticism it was believed that the trinity was three hidden
spiritual realities. They tended to think in the form of good against bad with the spirit being good and
the physical being bad. It can be confusing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with the description from Apollonarius is that it implies that Jesus is just a flesh suit that
God is controlling like a puppet. To be fully human Jesus must possess not only a flesh body but also a
human mind and soul. Nestorius taught that Jesus was two persons with two natures. In our modern
definition this would be schizophrenic or twins. Nestorius viewed Jesus as God and man working
together but this goes against the idea that Jesus is God. It simply has Jesus just working with God.
Eutyches takes the approach of monophysitism and claims that Jesus has one nature because he
wanted to avoid separating Jesus into two different entities. His view makes Jesus a hybrid of God and
man. Finally to try and put an end to the debates the Council of Chalcedon was held in AD 451. They
set four parameters to define how the church understands Jesus that included Jesus as fully God, Jesus
as fully man, Jesus as one person, and Jesus having two natures. This was good because instead of the
focus being on what was wrong the parameters focused on what was right. The parameters also work
in harmony with the Biblical description of the TrinityAugustine s life pursuit was after pleasure and
delight. He was not only about seeking joy for himself but also for

Comparison Between Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber Of Fleet...
The first movie ever made was The Horse in Motion which was created by Eadweard Muybridge in
1878. I hope to see people talk about the events that happen in the movie, and how they end up
affecting the events of the story. In my speech I will analyze multiple movies, the elements in them,
and how the actions of the characters in them affect the story. I choose to do it this way, so people can
have some examples, and know things to look for. There are two movies I will mainly focus on they
are Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Pulp Fiction. I will also talk about other
movies, but they are not my main focus. I will do this do hopeful convince you that there is more to a
movie then what you can see. I shall begin every analyzation of the movies will a short summary of
them. Now with further ado I shall give a short short summary of Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber
of fleet street. There are three characters i m going to focus on in Sweeney Todd, and they are
Sweeney Todd, Lucy, and Johanna. Sweeney Todd AKA Benjamin Barker is a barber on Fleet street in
London. Lucy is Todd s wife that s her main point for now. Johanna is their daughter. Early in the
story Benjamin gets sent away by the judge who wants Lucy for himself. Lucy is then alone, and is
sent to a masquerade by the judge s assistant. Where something bad happens to her. She then later
poisons herself. Johanna was taken away by the judge and he adopted her. Fifteen years past and
Benjamin Barker comes back as Sweeney Todd. He also bring alongs Anthony who helped him on his
travels. He goes back to where is barber shop was, and meets Ms.Lovett. She tells him that Lucy
poisoned herself. Todds like i m gonna kill that judge, Which he ends up doing. Also Ms.Lovett makes
the meat pies out of humans. Now that you know the parts of the story that you need to know i can
begin the analysis. There is a crazed lady outside where Johanna is kept. Anthony talks to her and he
asked who is that lady in the window, and she knew that that was Johanna. She is then seen outside of
Ms. Lovett s meat pie shop, and says she see that sign of the devil outside of it. Ms.Lovett kicks her

Yes Money Can Make You Happy By Cass R. Sunstein
Undoubtedly, money is and has been arguably the most important aspect of any society in the world.
Money is an essential piece of every day life because of the fact that nearly everything comes with a
price tag. With how important the aspect of money has become, there have been arguments about
whether money can truly make an individual happy. This particular topic has been highly controversial
with multiple different stands on the effect of money on happiness. With that being said, money does
influence people and makes them happier because they can live comfortably without worry, it allows
for many dreams to become realities, and it provides the opportunity to give back and help others.
First, money increases the happiness of people because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many instances, people cannot give back because they desperately need the money themselves. An
increase in prosperity would present the opportunity to provide for themselves along with help support

happiness, Cass Sunstein, from the article Yes, Money Can Make You Happy writes, In one study, the
best prediction of people s happiness was not how much they devoted to personal spending, but
instead how much they gave to others (Sunstein 271). The study that was completed produced
findings that displayed a relationship between sharing with others and personal happiness. Michael

In this video presentation he describes a study that recorded the feelings of undergraduate college

freedom of spending the money on themselves or on others. As a result of the study, Norton shared,
When we called people back at the end of the day, people who spent money on other people got

Server Virtualization Essay
You are a Windows 7 administrator at Contoso, a very large and international pharmaceutical
company. You have 25 servers in your network running a combination of Windows Server 2000,
Server 2003, SuSe Linux. As your Chief Information Officer is brainstorming with you and his/her
staff, you mention that you have heard about Virtualization and it may be a very cost effective and
efficient way to upgrade everything to Windows Server 2008. Your boss tells you to research the
concepts and to get back to him in two weeks with a recommendation.
My solution is to use server virtualization, which would allow multiple servers to be installed on one
or more existing servers. This saves floor space and money since you don t have to purchase new ...

Storage virtualization is the pooling of physical storage from multiple network storage devices into
what appears to be a single storage device that is managed from a central console. Storage
virtualization is commonly used in storage area networks (SANs). Server virtualization is the masking
of server resources (including the number and identity of individual physical servers, processors, and
operating systems) from server users. The intention is to spare the user from having to understand and
manage complicated details of server resources while increasing resource sharing and utilization and
maintaining the capacity to expand later. (Search server virtualization, 2013)

Analysis Of Ram Charan s New York Times Bestseller,...
Strategic implementation is the process that turns strategies and plans into actions in order to
accomplish strategic objectives and goals. It should be considered the blueprint for realizing the
organization s vision. The success of any strategy is solely dependent upon the effectiveness of its
implementation and execution. Ram Charan s New York Times bestseller, Execution: The Discipline
of Getting Things Done, refers to implementation and execution of strategy as a systematic way of
exposing reality and acting on it. The framework for successful implementation includes building an
organization capable of executing strategy, proper resource allocation, support policies, continuous
improvement, performance based incentives, and strategic leadership. KaBloom founder, David
Hartstein, provided a sound strategy to realize his vision, however flaws in various elements of
implementation led to continued problems for KaBloom. Executing the Vision As we learned in
Section 3: Strategy Formulation, KaBloom sought to employ a differentiation strategy in effort to
create a competitive edge. They created brand recognition and a niche within the market through
visual differentiation, low cost, and product variety. Eye catching stores, strategically located in high
traffic areas, drew customers into the serene garden like atmosphere with flowers cascading onto the
storefront sidewalk. Their brand recognition was created through this concept of store design, which

Modern-Day Mortgage Amortization Model
III. The Essentials of A Modern day Mortgage Amortization Model Contrary to popular belief among
some financial analysts, the mortgage crisis of 2008 may have occurred with or without the existence
of subprime mortgages. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 1744 at their peak rose to just over 20%
of all home mortgages originated, of which 35% defaulted. Subprime mortgage defaults accounted for
approximately 7% of mortgage originated s at their peak. The cumulative defaults of conventional
mortgages from vintage pools of 2007 were over 13%, surpassing subprime default rates (see Figure

Nearly 100% of the three million mortgages originated prior to 2008 still underwater in 2013 would
have been sufficiently de leveraged under PRAM (Macdonald, [2012], see Fig IV). The data in Figure
III and IV confirms, most of the anchoring principles of the 30 Year mortgage have been lost due to its
inability to reduce mortgage balances quick enough to keep up with our modern day economy. The 30
Year mortgage model has proven to be incapable of offsetting the historically low increase in wages to
keep up with the past appreciation in housing and inflation rates (Wolfson, [2013]) A new amortization
model that is mutually beneficial to lenders, borrowers, and bond investors in today s economy is
essential (Jones, [2013]). A modern day mortgage amortization model should offer the capability and
flexibility to sustain the following factors (Wolfson, [2013]):
It should entice borrowers to stay in their mortgages for a longer period of time (Alexander and

Taa 18-22 Case Study
The Army has already established the need for maintaining an operational reserve, through former and
current TAAs, capable of breaching AC capability gaps to meet joint force requirements. However, the
analysis lacks resources to accomplish this guidance effectively. The demand for RC forces requires
generating more operational unit readiness to fully complement the rotational force pool to meet the
deployment demand at the same standard as the AC. After conducting a Doctrine, Organization,
Training, Materiel, Leadership and Education, Personnel, Facilities and Policy (DOTMLPF P)
analysis, both overarching recommendations address an identified capability requirement and
associated capability gap that could be mitigated with a non materiel solution with changes or existing
capabilities in five, organization, training, personnel, facilities, and policy, of the eight functions.
Recommendation: Maintain current RC force structure capacity and capabilities highlighted in TAA

balanced force that would provide necessary flexibility to maintain an operational reserve. In spite of
recent force turbulence, the current force sizing and rebalance initiatives should stabilize RC
formations to preserve the Army s strategic depth while providing enough balance to complement
operational capabilities across all components. The current force mix and structure appears to meet
current joint demands and the RC cannot afford to reduce the already lean force if they are to keep up
with the operational demand. Leveraging the operational reserve current capacity is more responsive

Ratio Analysis is used for evaluation of performance of the company by internal as well as external
users. These comprises of managers, equity investors, long term creditors and short term creditors.
The managers are interested in the profitability and asset utilization ratios of the company as their
incentives and appraisal are based on the profitability and efficiency of asset utilization of their
respective divisions. Higher the profitability, higher is the chances of promotion. Thus, managers are
always very keen to analyze the different financial ratios of the company.
Those who invest in equity are always interested in knowing about the profitability, Market and
solvency ratios of the company. Higher profitability ratio is helpful in increasing the market value of
the company. The market ratios like dividend yield, price earnings ratio, earnings per share etc. is
useful in determining the exact position of the company s market share. Favorable market ratio
indicates the increase in market capitalization for investors and vice versa. The equity investors are
also interested in knowing the solvency ratio as high debt will pose danger to the ownership of the
company. Higher debt is harmful for the liquidity position of the company and in some worst cases;
the company even faces the risk of liquidation.
The long term creditors and short term creditors are majorly concerned about the liquidity and
solvency position of an organization. The increase in the debt

would be identified in the brokerage industry. The biggest change that the industry went through
would have to be the introduction of negotiated commissions in the U.S. in 1975. That was the mark
to a beginning of constantly increasing competition and challenges for brokers. With the introduction
of electronic trading, it dramatically increased trading volumes and liquidity and slashed the cost of
intermediation and broadened access to the market ( The Brokerage World Is Changing, Who Will

responsibility migrated to professional asset managers.

Theme Of Human Nature In Brave New World
After observing the novel Brave New World along with an article titled, Catholic Church Corrupt To
Its Core, Says Survivor one can conjure the idea that human nature will always persevere. Since the
birth of mankind this concept has been instilled in the minds of people. It is the nature of humanity to
feel uncontrollable emotions and feelings that promote certain actions. This ranges from undergoing a
state of overwhelming rage to possessing a heightened amount of fear to becoming engulfed in
jealousy. These are undeniable traits of humans as seen in Brave New World because of the key
figures in the novel that despite Hypnopædia and childhood conditioning, enact elements of innate
emotions. When viewing Bernard Marx, one sees that he is different from the other Alphas and quite
frankly, the rest of the population. He continuously experiences jealousy of Henry Foster s intimacy
with Lenina and sadness that his physical shape is deformed. From birth, children become conditioned
to be happy and not to experience these emotions since it could potentially cause social instability. No
matter the amount of soma Bernard consumes, he always finds a way to come back to these strong
desires of love and depression. The reader can also observe Helmholtz Watson s ambition to write
rhymes that have more significant and influential meaning. Watson was predestined to cease from
thinking about creating literature that disrupts society as he expresses, ...I ve got something important

Fair Labor Standards Act In 1938
Believe it or not, before 1938, there was a time when children as young as 8 10 years old (sometimes
even younger) would be forced to work until midnight or later in America during the time of the
industrial revolution (Bennett Alexander Hartman, 2001). There were simply no laws to regulate the
maximum number of hours that children could work, how old they had to be, or how much they had to
at least be paid. Thus, in 1938, Congress invoked its constitutional powers to regulate interstate
commerce and passed a law known as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that addresses these
malpractices by employers.

Demographic Transition Paper
2,000 years ago the world, in terms of population, was only the size of the United States of America,
300 million people. Today, the world s population is at seven billion and counting. If the population
rose at a steady rate from year 0, we would ve reached 1 billion people by about 210 A.D. This,
however, was not the case. We reached 1 billion people in 1800 A.D, which means that there had to be
very odd growth periods for the population as a whole REWORD ME. From 0 to 1000 A.D. the
population only rose about 10 million people, and well into the second millennium, [the population]
grew less than 0.1 percent each year [1]. However, from the year 1800, with 1 billion people
worldwide, to 1930, the world gained another billion people. We then reached three billion people in
1960, five billion in 1987, and 7 billion in 2013. One can clearly see that once we entered the 19th

American Rockwell Freedom From Want Analysis
In contrast to the liberation and artistic freedoms of Pollock s revolutionary art, the American
government preferred conservative work of artists like Norman Rockwell. Norman Rockwell s
paintings embodied a traditional, Regionalist style. One of Rockwell s most renowned pieces of work
is the Freedom From Want, representing the traditional and perfected American lifestyle. Painted in
1943, Rockwell depicts an ideal white American family celebrating Thanksgiving dinner. As an artist,
Rockwell specialized in displaying traditional and conservative American values. Through identifiable
shapes and brushstrokes, Rockwell creates a scene with a clear message of American tradition, unlike
Pollock. It stands as a symbol of what the ideal, nuclear American family looks like. Rockwell s
Freedom From Want was inspired by President Franklin Roosevelt s address to Congress in 1941 in

partisan, supporting the aims of the State and the communist party. As the Soviet Union restricted its

Emile Durkheim And Karl Marx
Emile Durkheim and Karl Marx are considered the founding fathers of sociology. Both men had an
influence on the development of sociology. Marx and Durkheim differed in their idea of what
alienation consisted of. For Marx, the issue was class conflict. While, for Durkheim, it was a
disordered society trying to adapt. Although they both had different concepts of alienation, both men
believed that alienation lead to a man s disconnectedness with society and their natural state of mind.
Durkheim and Marx also had contrasting views of the role of religion and education. Karl Marx was

Durkheim s views on alienation differ from Marx s beliefs. Durkheim focused on the idea of social
solidarity and anomie. He believed that class division was acceptable because it formed
interdependence. Durkheim saw it as normlessness and/or anomie. Anomie essentially means little
moral guidance to individuals which may lead to the breakdown of social bonds between individuals
and society. When a person feels anomic, there is a feeling of purposelessness in life leading to the
reason he wrote his book Suicide. Durkheim viewed anomic people as an individual s lifestyle
becoming too unstable leading to a breakdown. This is what occurred over different society. Durkheim
argued that suicide can be caused by social factors, not just individual psychological ones. Durkheim
felt that the system would eventually take care of itself and eventually adapt to a suitable form. In
Durkheim s eyes, religion gave meaning and purpose to life as well as reinforcing social unity and
stability. Religion gave people a similar set of beliefs, which is a meaningful agent of socialization by
bringing people together physically and emotionally. Thus, religion demonstrates moral behavior to
people, helping them learn to be good members of society. His views of religion centered on making
people willing to put the concerns of others ahead of themselves. As for education, Durkheim believed

Survival In Shawshank Redemption
Conflict, pain, and struggle compose the gritty truth that walks beside everyone in life and opens the
door to death. Many will succumb to this unnerving truth, while others will fight with a passion to
survive. In most situations, survival may sound like the only reasonable option. However, survival has
proven itself to be both a primitive instinct and a tenuous dream. The immensity at which this struggle
occurs, makes it a very real and predominant issue that is transparent in many artistic works such as
Man s Search for Meaning, Shawshank Redemption, and The Book Thief. The characters in these
works survived their many perils of imprisonment by finding meaning, grasping hope, and having a
will to live on. Firstly, Man s Search for Meaning, by Viktor E. Frankl, illustrated the many struggles
that come with living in a concentration camp. In this book, Viktor Frankl also described that he lost

was able to dig a tunnel through the wall of his cell and escape the prison in order to chase this dream

Elements Of Naturalism In Willa Cather
Alexandra Bergson appears as a symbolization of Willa Cather in more than one way. Cather saw
herself as a strong, intelligent, young woman trying to carve a path through a world that did not seem
to appreciate her. Cather Alexandra both found the Realistic, Romantic, and Naturalistic ways of the
world. Although this novel had many aspects of Naturalistic views, Realism and Romanticism also
appeared in several ways. Intertwined in this novel was an aspect of realism. Realism appears to me as
the way of life without change. Anyone who writes realistically does not care about others responses,

overall appears as a Naturalistic novel. The assumption that everything real exists in Nature, defines
Naturalism. Naturalism takes away all the power that romanticism gave you. Since the naturalist
perspective exists very persistently in this novel, you can prove that in many ways. When Cather
exposed the true feelings and intentions of Frank Shabata and his wife Marie, and explained to readers
of somewhat an emotionally abusive relationship is another aspect of Naturalism in this novel.
Perhaps he could not have given it up if he had tried. Perhaps he got more satisfaction out of feeling
himself abused than he would have got out of being loved. If he could once have made Marie
thoroughly unhappy, he might have relented and raised her from the dust. But she had never humbled
herself. In the first days of their love she had been his slave; she had admired him abandonedly. But
the moment he began to bully her and to be unjust, she began to draw away; at first in tearful
amazement, then in quiet, unspoken disgust. The distance between them had widened and hardened. It

and he was always watching to surprise it. He knew that somewhere she must get a feeling to live
upon, for she was not a woman who could live without loving. He wanted to prove to himself the
wrong he felt. This situation we believed to tie into Naturalism because no matter what, Marie

The And Hopi And Zuni Tribes
The Earth existed for at least 4.5 billion years before modern humans came into being. The different
cultures of the world have different ideas or stories of how humans came to be. The Hopi and Zuni
tribes have creation stories that were passed from generation to generation. These stories claim that the
world, despite being made before man, is meant to be ruled by and sustain mankind. Daniel Quinn s
novel, Ishmael, imagines its own creation myths to showcase how these stories work and the messages
that they send. The Native American myths referenced in this paper and in Ishmael rank mankind as
more important than the Earth through the timeframe of the creation stories, the way Earth is
described, and how mankind interacts with the Earth. Stories take place in time. Creation stories
commonly take place in the time before mankind is created and end once humans are roaming the
Earth, and the myths of the Hopi and Zuni are no different. When the creation myths end at that point,
they are marking the emergence of humans as the most important aspect of the story, and of all time.
The Zuni creation myth demonstrates this idea when it says, Sky Father, too, gives to humans
(Leeming 298). That quote is from the last paragraph of the Zuni creation myth and is an example of
how mankind s creation is what ends creation myths. The last few paragraphs of the Zuni creation
myth deal only with mankind s creation and living beings that are created for mankind s enjoyment
and sustenance

How American History Is Constantly Challenged By African...
How Americans romanticize their history is constantly challenged by African American artist Kara
Walker. Her controversial work has broken huge boundaries of race, gender, power and violence. But
Walker s art never had the intention of pleasing viewers or answering easy questions. Winning the
John.D and Catherine T. Mac Arthur Foundations genius grant at only twenty seven years old, Walkers
art has taunted Americans to recognize the legacy that slavery has left behind.
A move to Atlanta, Georgia in Walkers adolescence exposed her to the southern bigotry that inspired
her art in later years. However, only when she had completed her Masters of Fine arts in Rhode Island,
did she introduce themes of race into her work. On the entry of her first major work in 1994, she says
that much of her art work was exploring ...the problematics of making art as a young black woman
when constantly barraged and faced with a bunch of stereotypes about what it even means... (MoMA,
Kara Walker). Kara Walkers art demonstrates that the racism seen a century ago is still present in
American society today. The stereotype used frequently is the negress or black mistress, often over
sexualised and portrayed as a sex toy. Walker believes Western culture has created this specific
representation of what it means to be black. Her work as a solo artist has been displayed in the San

Propaganda Techniques In Today s Advertising
The business of advertising is a business built on the manipulation of consumers. Companies utilize
several different tactics to instill a desire for their product in their target audience. The California
Almonds Advertisement in the January February 2012 edition of Weight Watchers magazine creates a
desire for its product by utilizing enriching word, appealing images and subtle hidden messages. The
California Almonds advertisement first encourages a desire for its product by using enriching words
such as loves, desire, nutrient rich, healthy and nourish. According to an avid almond consumer, Lorri
Izzo stated that she felt the words Nutrient rich, desire, love and nourish were all words that she said
made her want to eat almonds. Anthony Izzo, another almond consumer, also stated that the same
words that Mrs. Izzo pointed out stood out to him as well. The author of Propaganda Techniques in
Today s Advertising , Ann McClintock, states that some advertisers use a form of propaganda known
as Card stacking. Card stacking is when the advertisers only tell half truths or omit certain details to
convince the target audience to buy their product. This propaganda technique is utilized in the
California Almonds advertisement because they use a half truth that states that Just a handful (of
almonds) a day can nourish your heart by helping you maintain healthy cholesterol levels. This is
partially true, yet very false at the same time. If one looks down at the very small

Compare And Contrast Rowlandson And Rowlandson
It is very difficult to know the intentions of the writers of the texts, especially on Rowlandson s case
because the versions we have, although were written by herself, were also edited and revised by some
Puritans Reverends and the real intentions are lost. However there are some ideas that can be found on
the cover page, under the title when she says that it is written by her own hand, for her private use but
lately published after some friends requests for the benefit of the afflicted. Those types of texts,
catalogued within the captivity narrative genre, are valuable documents charting our literary and
cultural history (Derouninan Stodola, 253).
Mary s narrative is an eye witness/outcast testimony that places its truthfulness ... Show more content

This analysis have shown me how important is to be faithful to your own principles, even when the
world takes you to unknown. The knowledge of the society in which each one has to life is what
shows that opposed positions that seem irreconcilable are part of a whole and as Collin s suggests,
each individual has to decide what is right or what is wrong in the society and then take a position and
try to change what is wrong. (Hentrhone,

Powerful Women and Submissive Women in Njal s Saga and the...
Powerful Women V. Submissive Women by Sean Conolly
Ancient societies and their cultures traditionally provided women with no access to power. It was
nearly universal for women to be treated as subservient to men while being expected to behave mildly
and submissively. The New Testament makes no exception. The Apostle Paul explains that through
Christ, women are absolved of constraints that the social hierarchy imposes on them, but he later goes
on to explain that even in Christ a religious hierarchy still exists. By acknowledging that women are
inferior to men in both the social and religious circles, Paul presents women as subordinates. This
contrasts with Njal s Saga. Through the saga s characters Gunnhild, Hallgerd, and Bergthora, ... Show

This suggestion is eventually confirmed when she successfully convinces the King to accept Hrut as a
bodyguard (Njal s Saga, 8). Even though the King is the superior, Gunnhild still possesses the ability
to influence him. Her influence demonstrates her ability to assume and exercise a degree of power.
It is through her power that Gunnhild goes on to instigate a chain of events. After having Hrut as a
lover for several seasons, Gunnhild reasserts her power when Hrut asks to return to Iceland. Though
she lets him return, she sends a curse along with him. She says, If I have as much power over you as I
think I have, then I cast this spell: you will not have sexual pleasure with the woman you plan to
marry in Iceland, though you ll be able to have your will with other women. Neither of us comes out
of this well, because you did not tell me the truth (Njal s Saga, 13). The curse she places on Hrut
actually comes true (Njal s Saga, 16). Hrut cannot please his wife and Gunnhild s desire to hold a
degree of dominance over Hrut is fulfilled. Because Hrut wants to please his wife but cannot, his
desires are unfulfilled. This suggests that Gunnhild s demands and desires are superior to those of
men. It is the demands and desires of a woman that instigate events. The author immediately presents
Gunnhild in the very first significant

A locksmith is someone who can repair and make locks. There are a number of instances where a
person will need a locksmith. One of the main reasons that people contact a locksmith is because they
get locked out of their vehicle or home. Most people s first instinct is to panic when they get locked
out of their vehicle or home.
However, the good news is that Edmonton lock service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
That is why you will be able to quickly get a locksmith if you happen to get locked out of your vehicle
or home. Many people schedule an appointment with a locksmith when they need to have the locks on
their home or apartment changed.
For example, people who have just moved into a house or apartment are often advised

  • 2. Analysis Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s Scarlet Fever Nathaniel Hawthorne Nathaniel Hawthorne was born on July 4, 1804 in Salem Massachusetts. His father died of yellow fever when he was 4 years old and left behind a wife and 3 children. Hawthorne was raised by an abnormal and solitary mother. He had a leg injury at a young age, which left him not being able to move for months (Biography) . His leg injury, on the other hand, did not get in the way of what he was dreaming of doing growing up. During the time of his leg injury, Hawthorne developed an interest in reading and writing. He grew up being an enthusiastic reader of poetry and exotic adventure stories. Hawthorne had to overcome a lot of obstacles growing up to become a writer. Despite losing a father and having a leg injury at such a young age, Hawthorne became a successful writer of the American Romantic period. Thanks to his uncles, Hawthorne attended Bowdoin College in Maine. His uncles paid for his college tuition there. He attended the college when he was 17 years old and spent 4 years there. At the college, he met and made friends with Franklin Piece and Henry Wadsworth (Biography) . While he was attending college, Hawthorne missed his family so much and returned home to Salem after graduation (Biography) . He stayed in Salem for 12 years. He came back to Salem not only to spend time with his family, but to spend time studying puritan history and develop his writing skills. During his 12 year stay in Salem, Hawthorne wrote a few books. • 3. Functional Foods And Its Effect On The Risks Of Chronic... Functional foods are those foods that are beneficial to health and are able to reduce the risks of chronic diseases. The interest in functional foods has increased in the recent years as people look for safer way to improve general health and living. In India, despite of low level of public awareness compared to western markets, functional foods and ingredients are finding huge growth as consumers switch on to the promise of healthier foods, beverages and supplements. On the contrary, due to urbanization the increased demand for ready to eat products at reasonable costs also increased, particularly the bakery products. But in recent times functional foods are rapidly increasing in popularity in sectors such as dairy products or confectionery, in bakery it is still relatively underdeveloped. Bread is one such important staple food and the most widely consumed bakery product all over the world. In bread making, the use of white flour (refined) has been increased with an aim of improving the aesthetic value of white bread, which in turn led to drastic reduction in the nutritional density and fiber content when compared to bread made from whole grain cereals. In recent years, cereals and its ingredients such as beta glucan, arabinoxylan, resistant starch, oligosaccharides etc are accepted as functional foods and nutraceuticals. Cereals, in particular oat and barley, offer another alternative for the production of functional foods. By supplementing or substituting white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Brief Note On The History Of Pay Written Assignment unit 2 The history of pay to click begun in 1996, the first known and documented version of a PPC was included in a web directory called Planet Oasis. This was a desktop application featuring links to informational and commercial web sites, and it was developed by Ark Interface II, a division of Packard bell NEC Computers. The initial reactions from commercial companies to Ark Interface II s pay per visit model were skeptical, however. By the end of 1997, over 400 major brands were paying between $.005 to $.25 per click plus a placement fee. When the syndication contract with Yahoo was up for renewal in July 2003, Yahoo announced intent to acquire Overture for $1.63 billion. Today, companies such as ad Marketplace, Value Click and ad knowledge offer PPC services, as an alternative to AdWords and AdCenter. Paid Search Deliverables In paid inclusion programs, search engines and their ad feed partners guarantee that their search engine will list pages from the advertiser s website in its index. However, paid inclusion typically does not guarantee that the advertiser s pages will rank high. At this writing, search engines Inktomi, AlltheWeb, and AltaVista offer paid inclusion programs. Paid placement programs, by contrast, generally guarantee that a link to the advertiser s URL will be delivered in the search results on a matched keyword or keywords. Location of the delivered link generally governs the fees, so advertisers will pay more to be placed higher up the page in the search results. Development of pay to click site through mode of payment There are two primary models for determining pay per click: flat rate and bid based. • 5. Homosexuality In Tony Kushner s Angels In America Homosexuality plays an important thematic role in Angels in America by Tony Kushner. This is obvious; the play is about homosexuals during the AIDS epidemic in the 80 s. Not only is gayness their lives, it also figures in as a distorted simulation of itself. In the postmodern era, identities have become simulations of perceived actions instead of actual actions. Seen in rhetoric and in the play, homosexuality becomes associated with powerlessness, sin, and disease. Kushner s characters are greatly affected by these stereotypes and false realities of their identities. We see the way simulacra affects the characters of Roy, Joe, and Prior. Importantly, Prior suffers under a simulation of homosexuality as an openly gay man with AIDS, while Roy and Joe cannot fully identify as gay because of the implications they have been taught. Roy and Joe never know an unmediated definition of homosexuality; it forever has a negative connotation of powerlessness or sin. Prior is able to survive his disease and break away from the oppression of the simulacra. Tony Kushner writes these stereotypes into the rhetoric of the play to dismantle the conceptions of homosexuality. • 7. A Coupled Model Of Transport, Turbulence, And Mesoscale Flows A coupled model of transport, turbulence, and mesoscale flows is proposed, including turbulence spreading. The model consists of transport equations for plasma density and pressure coupled to a shell model of drift wave turbulence, which incorporates coupling to mesoscale flows via disparate scale interactions. The model can describe the turbulent cascade and its dynamical interplay with zonal and mean shear flows as well as the profile evolution (including the profiles of turbulence intensity itself) due to these self consistent turbulent fluxes. This simple system of equations is shown to capture the low to high confinement (L H) transition. It is also observed that as the heating is increased, the system goes through an intermediate ... For instance the models including the effect of evolution of plasma turbulence driven by profile gradients were proposed and studied by various authors (see, e.g., Refs. 7 and 18). In particular, the model of Miki et al.7,19,20 has the advantage of including oscillations between two predators (zonal flows and mean flows) and one prey (turbulence) while achieving the L H transition. As such, it is also able to describe an L I H transition (L H transition with an intermediate phase), which was initially predicted by a 0D model.21,22 However in most of the reduced models, the transport coefficients are determined by an ad hoc shear suppression rule. Here we propose an approach based on shell models, where the shear suppression and the predator prey dynamics are natural results of the disparate scale interactions incorporated within the shell model description. The model that is introduced in this paper is interesting for various reasons. It is significant, for instance, in that it makes use of a simple description of turbulence based on shell models, yet it is able to describe the complex interplay between turbulence and zonal flows in a natural self consistent way, without making use of ad hoc steady state relations such as the shear suppression rule. On the other hand, the model ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A key characteristic of oligopolies is that each firm can affect the market, making each firm s choices dependent on the choices of the other firms. These are known as interdependent. Oligopolies are made up of a small number of mutually interdependent firms. Each firm must take into account the expected reaction of other firms. The importance of interdependence is that it leads to strategic behaviour. Strategic behavior is the behavior that occurs when what is best for one company depends upon what the other company does, and vice verse. Oligopolistic behavior includes both ruthless competition and cooperation. Oligopolies can be collusive or non collusive. Part of their reasoning for this belief can be attributed to the view of flesh as sinful which would result as a problem for God, who is divine, to become imprisoned inside. However, Jesus was nailed to a cross and real blood flowed from his hands and side that is proof that Jesus was in fact human. In our modern definition this would be schizophrenic or twins. Nestorius viewed Jesus as God and man working together but this goes against the idea that Jesus is God. It simply has Jesus just working with God. Eutyches takes the approach of monophysitism and claims that Jesus has one nature because he wanted to avoid separating Jesus into two different entities. His view makes Jesus a hybrid of God and man. Finally to try and put an end to the debates the Council of Chalcedon was held in AD 451. Strategic implementation is the process that turns strategies and plans into actions in order to accomplish strategic objectives and goals. It should be considered the blueprint for realizing the organization s vision. The success of any strategy is solely dependent upon the effectiveness of its implementation and execution. Ram Charan s New York Times bestseller, Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done, refers to implementation and execution of strategy as a systematic way of exposing reality and acting on it. The framework for successful implementation includes building an organization capable of executing strategy, proper resource allocation, support policies, continuous improvement, performance based incentives, and strategic leadership. KaBloom founder, David Hartstein, provided a sound strategy to realize his vision, however flaws in various elements of implementation led to continued problems for KaBloom. Theme Of Human Nature In Brave New World After observing the novel Brave New World along with an article titled, Catholic Church Corrupt To Its Core, Says Survivor one can conjure the idea that human nature will always persevere. Since the birth of mankind this concept has been instilled in the minds of people. It is the nature of humanity to feel uncontrollable emotions and feelings that promote certain actions. This ranges from undergoing a state of overwhelming rage to possessing a heightened amount of fear to becoming engulfed in jealousy. These are undeniable traits of humans as seen in Brave New World because of the key figures in the novel that despite Hypnopædia and childhood conditioning, enact elements of innate emotions. When viewing Bernard Marx, one sees that he is different from the other Alphas and quite frankly, the rest of the population. He continuously experiences jealousy of Henry Foster s intimacy with Lenina and sadness that his physical shape is deformed. From birth, children become conditioned to be happy and not to experience these emotions since it could potentially cause social instability. No matter the amount of soma Bernard consumes, he always finds a way to come back to these strong desires of love and depression. Today, the world s population is at seven billion and counting. If the population rose at a steady rate from year 0, we would ve reached 1 billion people by about 210 A.D. This, however, was not the case. We reached 1 billion people in 1800 A.D, which means that there had to be very odd growth periods for the population as a whole REWORD ME. When a person feels anomic, there is a feeling of purposelessness in life leading to the reason he wrote his book Suicide. Durkheim viewed anomic people as an individual s lifestyle becoming too unstable leading to a breakdown. This is what occurred over different society. Durkheim argued that suicide can be caused by social factors, not just individual psychological ones. Durkheim felt that the system would eventually take care of itself and eventually adapt to a suitable form. The different cultures of the world have different ideas or stories of how humans came to be. The Hopi and Zuni tribes have creation stories that were passed from generation to generation. These stories claim that the world, despite being made before man, is meant to be ruled by and sustain mankind. Daniel Quinn s novel, Ishmael, imagines its own creation myths to showcase how these stories work and the messages that they send. The California Almonds Advertisement in the January February 2012 edition of Weight Watchers magazine creates a desire for its product by utilizing enriching word, appealing images and subtle hidden messages. The California Almonds advertisement first encourages a desire for its product by using enriching words such as loves, desire, nutrient rich, healthy and nourish.
