James McManus Mr. Colameco AP United States History 7 January 2013 Example Document
Based Question Nearly all of the reasons for agrarian discontent in the late 19th century stem from
three areas: land, transportation, and money. The farmers were fighting the perceived threats posed
by monopolies and trusts, railroads, and the demonetization of silver. The American farmer during
this period already had his fair share of problems which, compared to the success of the
industrialized businessmen, resulted in much of the animosity between the two groups. The fact of
the matter was farmers had entered a viscous cycle. Wheat and cotton, once the staples of American
agriculture were selling at such low prices that it was almost impossible... Show more content on

As crop prices fell, farmers were forced to mortgage their lands and take out loans in order to
grow more and more crop just to break even. When these tactics were ultimately unsuccessful,
the banks closed in and quickly foreclosed on the farmers estates. These mass foreclosures led to
a belief among farmers that they were all slaves to their eastern masters and that only the
freedom of unlimited silver would release them from their shackles. One can see the argument
from the farmer s side. The banks gave out loans with exorbitant interest rates simply because
they could. From 1865 to 1895, the population had risen by close to eighty percent whereas the
amount of currency in circulation had only gone up by about sixty percent. With this deflation,
the farmers were paying back double and triple the amount of money that they had originally
borrowed. With free coinage of silver, these loans would be balanced and the farmers could
suddenly afford their mortgages. This argument for silver was made famous by William Jennings
Bryan s Cross of Gold speech at the democratic nomination convention. Bryan would not rest until
the Crime of 1873 was rectified. McKinley however shows the counter argument towards this
radical inflation. Coining silver would be a temporary stay of execution for the farmers. It would
not make farming any more profitable, but would only cheat the banks out of money that the
farmers had agreed to pay them. The farmers were

Meursault as Sisyphus in Albert Camus ,The Stranger
But from the moment he knows, his tragedy begins. Meursault is not unlike Sisyphus. In the novel,
The Stranger, by Albert Camus, we watch this character change from a carefree man who loves
being alive and free to a man who is imprisoned for a meaningless murder he commits but who
eventually finds happiness in his fate.
During the first half of the novel, we see many examples of Meursault s freedom and how he
exercises it. He does what he wants, when he wants to with no regard to how he affects the people
around him. Meursault lives his life with no restrictions. He is his own boss. Relaxed and free.
In the opening of the novel, Meursault receives word that his mother has passed away. While
keeping her vigil, he smokes a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He acts so indifferent about her death that, by that evening, Marie had forgotten all about it.
Someone looking in from the outside would think he is heartless, but the thought doesn t even cross
his mind. He is blissfully ignorant.
The point in which Meursault s freedom is taken from him is when he puts five bullets into a man
for no apparent reason. Perhaps the first bullet is understandable, self defense maybe since the man
had a knife. But the other four bullets were pointless.
During the second half of the book is where we see the most connections to The Myth of Sisyphus.
Meursault is imprisoned for the crime he commits. Sisyphus is condemned to ceaselessly rolling
a rock to the top of a mountain for his crime. It is in the courtroom, while on trial, that he
becomes conscious to the fact that he is a criminal and that all of the people hate him not only
for his crime, but also for the way that he lived his life when he was a free man. He states, It was
then I felt a stirring go through the room and for the first time I realized I was guilty. It is in this
consciousness that it becomes tragic. He finally realizes the whole extent of his wretched condition.
Meursault and Sisyphus both have rocks of their own. Sisyphus is literally a rock. Meursault s rock
is symbolic. When Meursault is alone at night in his prison cell, he thinks back to the days when he

Thesis Statement About Marriage
NURUL ATIRAH BINTI ROSLI
43517
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Marriage is a ritual that marks a change in status for a man and a woman and the acceptance by
society of the new family that is formed (Rosman Rubel, 1981). Marriage, like other customs, is
governed by rules (Rosman Rubel, 1981). Anthropology has represented marriage as the definitive
ritual and universally translatable regulative ideal of human societies (BORNEMAN, 1996).
Marriage also the act of joining two persons of opposite sex together to become as husband and
wife. Many people in the society have different opinions or outright misconception of the meaning
of marriage. While some people see it as a union between a man and woman, others take it to mean
an agreement made between a man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nino Vs The Jewel Exchange Summary
Nino vs The Jewelry Exchange The legal agenda in the case of Nino vs The Jewelry Exchange was
that the defendant, Rajae Nino made allegations to his employer that he was being discriminated on
the account of his gender and nationality. The primary stipulation to this case was that Nino had
signed a contract that was unconscionable. The primary function of this agreement gave most of the
power to The Jewelry Exchange. The Court of Appeals decided that the arbitration agreements did
not favor their employee. The definition of unconscionable from Webster s Dictionary states,
excessive, unreasonable . What is means for a contract to be unconscionable is that contractually,
the contract is very one sided and extremely favors one party over another. Procedural
unconscionability is the conditions and the procedures that are within the contract results in various
inequalities such as age, intelligence, and relative bargaining power. When a contract is
substantively unconscionable it means that that actual terms of the contract are unfair, oppressive
or harsh. Cases such as Nino vs The Jewelry Exchange showed that the terms if the contract were
ambiguous and suspect, this was one of the primary reasons that the Court of Appeals ruled in Nino
s favor. One example that the contract that Nino signed that the agreement was procedurally
unconscionable can be accessed in Article IV of the contract. Article IV was described as the sole,
final, binding and

Colonialism In Waiting For The Barbarians
Comparative Essay
Colonialism occurs when one nation seeks to extend their authority other the territory of another.
When such process occurs, the foreign ideologies conflicts with the existing ones. The spread of
euro and phallocentric ideas brings intolerance such as othering and sexism. Those with power
degrade and exclude the others to proven their status as superior. Such oppression not only have
negative impact on the victim but also oppressors themselves. In Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M
Coetzee and Women at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi, both Coetzee and Nawal reveals the
negative impact of intolerance on both the intolerant and the victims.
In Waiting, Coetzee reveals how both social grouphave been negatively effected due to intolerance
in two key moments. The first key moment Coetzee presents the negative effect of othering on the
intolerant occurred when the Colonel is torturing barbarians in the public, a little girl was
encouraged to join the torture. As the author describes, She lifts the cane, brings it down smartly on
the prisoner s buttocks, drops it, and scuttles to safety to a roar of applause (116). In this quote
through the use of descriptive language, the author creates the image of the girl torturing the
barbarians by lifting and bringing it down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both author presents a type of intolerance as a result of colonization and its effect on different
social groups. It reveals how through applying intolerance to the victims, the intolerant acquires an

becomes an auxiliary of another. Through the application of literature, both authors persuades their
target audience of the malicious effect of intolerance on both social group to reveal the

Lax Credit Standards:
In an effort to remedy such disproportion between inventory and demand, in 1995 SDI began to
negligently issue credit lines. As exemplified by Table 2, due to such leniency net sales continued
to increase between 1995 and 1997 (Appendix A). However, as illustrated by Table 1 the relaxed
credit standards caused a 39% spike in accounts receivable from 1994 to 1995 (Appendix A).
Consequently, the increase in inventory and accounts receivable negatively impacted the current
ratio of the firm. As a result, the firm s liquidity dropped significantly below industry average in
1995 to 1.90 from 2.96, well above the 2.25 average, in 1994 (Appendix C). Therefore, the cash
flow of the firm was negatively affected by the issuance of credit as accounts receivable continued
to rise.
Loan Reliance:
As inventories and account receivable steadily increased, the firm distressingly opted for a short
term solution. By means of long term lending in 1994 and higher short term credit in 1994 and
1995, SDI chose to temporarily resolve the current issues of the firm without considering the
potential long term ramifications. As illustrated in Table 1, long term loans remained the same
while short term bank loans increased by 71% between 1994 and 1995; a drastic change within a
short span of time (Appendix A). Similarly, as depicted in Table 2, the interest on the firm s short
term loans rose from 1994 to 1995 whereas the

Natural Law And The Preservation Of Human Life
Natural law and the Preservation of Human Life
Donald J. Moore
Webster University
September 18, 2016
Natural Law and the Preservation of Human Life In order to address the scenarios in this
assignment, one must define the when life begins. According to Thomas Aquinas God created the
universe and all plants, animals and life of all types under the doctrine of External Law. Based on
his vision, God instilled Natural Law in law to fulfill the parameters of External Law. Self
preservation is not only a function of protecting one s self being, but also by ensuring the species
survives. This is accomplished through the second inclination of procreation. Aquinas teachings
proclaim that God created the universe and by doing so, created all life. So logic must dictate that
life begins at conception and that the developing fetus has already been instilled with Natural Law.
A young woman who is four months pregnant has recently discovered that she has tuberculosis.
The doctor informs her that she must take a drug that will cure her disease, but that the drug will
also have the effect of aborting the fetus. There is no other available drug that will cure her disease,
and if she does not take the drug immediately she will die. According to natural law, may the young
woman take the drug? Both the mother and the fetus are innocent human lives. Even though the
fetus may not be capable of understanding, it is still a life and is dependent upon the mother for
life. However, the fetus

Early African Societies Essay
The beginning of time has always played a major role in history. The beginning of time explains the
reasons for each and every creature, plant, and unexplainable phenomena that have occurred on this
earth. Chapter one of World History: A Topical Approach primarily explains to the reader the
different arguments that people believe are true. There are many claims that scientist have found to
be very true, but then there are others who believe in a phenomenon quite different. Some scientists
date the beginning of existence as far as twenty billion years ago, but there are others who believe
that the world is really not that old. Human existence has taken its tollupon many great researchers
who have searched to understand human ancestry. It... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the book itself states that prior to Homo erectus, all hominids were found in Africa, the
cradle of human evolution. Darwin even targeted Africa as the birthplace of human existence. In
terms of the missing link, the first set of finds came from England, whose nearest non human
relatives were from Africa. So everything that deals with the human existence relates back to
Africa. This series of studies makes you stop and think. Maybe our race was here first, and as
time went on different shades of colors were introduced. The many different shades of color moved
to different regions of the world to start their own culture and develop a civilization.
There are many different aspects of taking the development of the human existence. Some
people believe it originated in Europe and others believe something different. Who is to say who
is right and wrong? No one can judge just by the scientific facts that are presented within this
text. The search for this knowledge of human existence is only so close. People might even have
to look to a higher source for this means of knowledge. In other words, the only being that would
know the answer to all the questions is God. But until then, we must lean on the shoulders of our
own people to seek the knowledge for which we are looking.
The earliest civilizations have taught philosophers about many cultures. As people began to settle

Chipotle Supply And Demand
Whenever the term economics come up the two terms that seem to be put together are supply
and demand. Supply and demand is the amount of a commodity, product, or service available
and the desire of buyers for it considered as factors for regulating its price. This concept is
important, because without it producers don t know how much of their product to make and
what to price it at. Chipotle a Mexican grill is an establishment that has been open since 1933.
This was a small business until McDonalds became an investor in their company in 1998 and
their was no looking back from then. Their expansion was rapid leaving more room for mistakes.
This Mexican grill was quite popular until it had a fall out with a contaminate in their meat in
December of 2015. The contaminate that was found was E.coli. E.coli is a powerful contaminate
and has the power to kill someone. Chipotle had several outbreaks where their meat was
contaminated and as a result that caused customers to not want to go their in fear of being
contaminated. The supply was their, but the demand for the food quickly plummeted causing the
company to lose lots of profit. As a result the company has been spending millions to try and regain
their customers. Supply and demandis a concept that is very important for the development of any
company; to maximize sales you must have plenty of both with supply having enough product to
sell, and demand being the customer base that has been built.

and clear what he held this freedom to consist in. Following to Descartes s argument that man are
the supreme source of human mistake or error and certainly not God based on the Fourth
Meditation, he offers and presents an interpretation of the activity of the human will and how it
may be described as free will. Assumed that Descartes discusses the freedom of choice and will as
similar and compatible in his argument, critics opt to emphasis on it to know Descartes s certain
notions on human freedom.
Descartes illustrates an analogy between human will and the divine, stressing that it is human
will which is utmost perfect function because it lets them to bear in some way the image and
likeness of God (CSM 2:40). Rene Descartes understands and identifies that God s will is
certainly much higher than man s own in power. Though, Descartes also confesses that regardless
of this, God s will does not seem any greater than mine when considered as will in the essential and
strict sense. (CSM 2:40)

What Is The Exploration Of Brazil Essay
Exploration of Brazil
Introduction
Let s take a vacation to Brazil. I will be traveling to Brazil June 20th 24th through the 22nd. I
chose to travel to Brazil, because of the beautiful cities and nature that is located there. Also, I
always wanted to travel to Brazil. I will also be taking my sister Noelle, because she has traveled all
around the world for study abroad, and she will know what to expect. Brazil is located in South
America. Brazil is a good destination to travel all year round, because temperatures almost never
drop below 68 degrees Fahrenheit. The climate is always hot and dry or humid and sticky.
Although, the Rainforests get very hot at around 104 degrees Fahrenheit or 40 degrees Celsius. We
will need to bring lots of water because of the hot temperatures. The only places that gets cold are
the southern mountainous regions. Sometimes temperatures there in the mountainous are as low as
32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius. We will not need to worry about the cold temperatures
in the southern areas, because we will not be travelling there.
Brazil is also quite big, it takes up almost half of South America, and in comparison to Michigan
Brazil is 34 times bigger. Brazil consists of both plateaus and plains, but has majority plateaus at

The Power Of Stereotyping
The Power of Stereotypes
Throughout our American society, there have been topics, or more specifically, issues, that have
been implemented in our lives. Whether it be poverty, economic issues, equality, and thus forth,
there is one what has always been around for centuries, but has made a bigger impact is
stereotyping. This in particular topic has lead to a multitude of problems, such as social
categorization, and the cause of prejudice. The stereotyping propaganda in the United States has
caused more problems and attracted more attention than is truly needed. Stereotyping has been
a normal occurrence since human beings have been able to do so to others, as tragic as that is.
Although it has been through our history, nothing from the past can possibly compare to the
amount of stereotyping going on in our world in the modern day, and how much it impacts us
and others around us. Robert L. Heilbroner says it best in his article DON T LET
STEREOTYPES WARP YOUR JUDGMENT (citation) Stereotypes are a kind of gossip about
the world, a gossip that makes us prejudge people before we ever lay eyes on them. Hence it is
not surprising that stereotypes have something to do with the dark world of prejudice (Heilbroner
Pg.19 number 5). He then goes on to say that Once we have typecast the world we tend to see
people in terms of our standardized pictures. He then goes on explaining about a demonstration he
performed with a number of Columbia and Barnard students, showing

Involvement Of Online Social Network
Abstract:
Involvement of online social network:
Online social networks today are medium to communicate. Communication includes sharing video
files, audio files and Text messages. These messages and files include some useful data and also
unwanted data and also spam data. There are some complex methods involved in Online Social
Network Management in order to control this data.
Existing System:
For example, Facebook has a facility where users can specify who can message them(eg: Friends,
Friends of Friends options are provided in Facebook). But, Facebook doesn t have a facility where
users can block some kind of messages. No content based preference is supported and there will be
no control over unreliable messages such as vulgar and political ones.
Proposed System: Proposed system includes facility to control unreliable messages by using
filtering rules. Here the user is given facility to block some kind of messages from displaying on
user s wall. Here web content mining techniques are used in order to recognize patterns of words
and also some filtering rules are applied to filter given messages.
Data mining Techniques Involved: Filtering is one of the data mining technique s which involves
filtering text messages in order to avoid spam messages. In online social networking users are
given the ability to control their wall and the ability to hide unwanted messages from displaying on
their wall. Here users are given direct control over their messages.

Effects of Temperature, pH, Enzyme Concentration, and Substrate Concentration on Enzymatic
Activity
INTRODUCTION
Enzymes, proteins that act as catalysts, are the most important type of protein[1]. Catalysts speed
up chemical reactions and can go without being used up or changed [3] Without enzymes, the
biochemical reactions that take place will react too slowly to keep up with the metabolic needs
and the life functions of organisms. Catecholase is a reaction between oxygen and catechol [2]. In
the presence of oxygen, the removal of two hydrogen atoms oxidizes the compound catechol, as a
result of the formation of water [2]. Oxygen is reduced by the addition of two hydrogen atoms,
which also forms water, after catechol is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hypothesis is as the substrate concentration has an increase so will the reaction of velocity if
the amount of enzyme is kept constant.
MATERIALS AND METHODS To study the effects of temperature, pH
, enzyme concentration, and
substrate concentration there were certain steps that were followed in order to conduct this
experiment. Each factor had a separate procedure to follow to find how each had a different effect
on the enzyme.
To find the effect of temperature on the activity of an enzyme, the experiment deals with the
steps as follows. First, 3 mL if pH 7 phosphate buffer was used to fill three different test tubes that
were labeled 10, 24, and 50. These three test tubes were set in three different temperature
settings. The first test tube was placed in an ice water bath for ten minutes until it reached a
temperature of 2В° C or less. The second tube s temperature setting was at room temperature until
a temperature of 21В°C was reached. The third tube was placed in a beaker of warm water until
the contents of the beaker reached a temperature setting of 60В° C. There were four more test
tubes that were included in the procedure. Two of the test tubes contained potato juice were one
was put in ice and the other was placed in warm water. The other two test tubes contained catechol.
One test tube was put in ice and the other in warm water. After

Hands On Training Program
BBT should implement a hands on training program to facilitate learning transfer. A hands on
training method is tailored for job requiring a specific set of skills. Individuals can be trained
through a hands on learning program to ensure their success and ability to perform. BBT requires
individual repetition of skills to serve their customers and utilizing the following hands on
components: self directed learning, simulation, case studies, and an apprenticeship will increase
retention.
Self directed learning creates trainee empowerment. Motivation is key for the success of self
directed learning and BBT will need to explain how trainees can best utilize this learning process.
Content that is relevant to the job tasks need to be developed outlining learning outcomes and be
easily accessible. Trainers can facilitate and assist the trainee if needed, but not required. Self
directed learning is a flexible component that promotes a motivated employee.

Net Neutrality And Its Influence On The Internet
The internet has become the main source of information, communication, and entertainment for
many people. Services like Netflix have replaced cable in many homes while Amazon now has
the capability of same day shipping and even the shipping of food ingredients in some locations.
We are becoming ever more reliant on the internet for our day to day lives. We expect to have
the ability to do what we want on the internet. Watch whatever movie we like on Netflix, look up
what your friend did on Instagram, or even find that cat video someone told you about at work.
Net Neutrality is the concept that internet service providers allow you to use these services
without interference. Websites, services and information cannot be blocked, slowed down or
prioritized over others. Net neutrality means that all data should be treated equally (Kraemer).
Net Neutrality is vital for our day to day lives and a lot more important than it may seem. In fact,
without Net neutrality, the internet would change as we know it. The internet has always been an
open platform for those who want their voices heard, their ideas shared, or their projects and
businesses expanded. Removing it means that the internet would be a lot like paying for cable
television. Internet service providers would be able prioritize websites and even block competitors
or those who simply cannot afford to pay. Net neutrality is essential to allow users the free access
of information he or she desires(Berkman). Ultimately, net

Strengthening Early Intervention and Community Based Services e.g., expanding Brighter Futures
program, health home visiting for at risk teenage mothers, 3. Better Protection for Children at Risk
e.g.: violence prevention coordination units, review of police response to domestic and family
violence incidents 4. Better Supporting Aboriginal Children and Families e.g.; Two Ways Together
ten year plan, Universal services: Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Strategy, 5. Strengthening
Partnership across the Community Services Sector e.g., Building the capacity of the non
government sector, Workforce and cultural change. 6 Changing practice system e.g.; the
establishment of the Child Wellbeing Units, the Regional Intake, and Referral Services.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy Essay
Introduction
The emergence of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) marked a changing of the guard within
the realm of psychotherapy. For the previous century, the profession had been dominated by
theories and practices, which was focused on unearthing a client s repressed memories or family
issues in hopes of identifying cracks in their mental and/or their emotional foundation that needed to
be fixed. The change in perspective and approach presented by Steven de Shazer and his
counterparts provided therapist and clients alike an opportunity to center in on the presenting issue,
instead of prolonging the process in search of hidden truths. While de Shazer presented an
alternative thought process to the therapeutic process, his model was the culmination of various
therapist and models continuing to push the envelope.
Historical Background
The American psychiatrist, Milton Erickson had been credited as one of the pioneers for stepping
away from conventional thinking. He suggested therapy must be intensive and required a long term
commitment. In fact, his stance of successful therapy often did not necessitate a lengthy therapeutic
relationship along with a small change by the client was the catalyst needed to bring about larger
change are both cornerstones in SFBT (Visser, 2013). Psychiatrist Gregory Bateson was
responsible for two significant contributions in the development of SFBT. The first was his view

Observation and Measurement in Human Services Research
Observation and measurement in human services research Types of reliability The theory of
reliability states that it is impossible to calculate the reliability of a study in an exact way.
Instead, reliability is estimated and this creates an imperfection in research. There are four
major types of reliability. The first is inter rater or inter observer reliability. This means the
reliability that is used to assess the degree to which the different people who are observing or
rating the items being studied give estimates that are consistent regarding the same phenomenon.
A good example is the popular example of a glass half empty and one that is half full. This is to
mean that people who are in essence similar in every nature may have different ideas or views of
the same phenomenon. This kind of reliability is estimated by using a pilot study which is used to
establish the expected reliability in the main study(Rosnow Rosenthal, 2012). The second form of
reliability is the test retest reliability. This kind of reliability is used to assess the consistency of a
measure from one period of time to another. This reliability is estimated when the same test is
administered to the same sample group but at two different periods in time. This approach makes
an assumption that there is no substantial change in the construct that is being measures in the two
different occasions(Rosnow Rosenthal, 2012). The third form of reliability is the parallel forms
reliability. This form

Sixth-Grade Math Teacher
Seventh grade mathematics teacher Mrs. Megan Ortinau at Van Buren Middle School begins
lesson planning by thinking about her learning objectives and standards she would like to cover.
She thinks about what she wants her students to take away from the lesson and moves forward
from there. Before beginning, Mrs. Ortinau considers what her students have learned in previous
grades, and she tries to expand on that as much as possible. She tries to compare the new material
to material the students have learned in the past. This can be done by reviewing standards covered
in sixth grade as well as communicating with sixth grade teachers. Also, communicating with sixth
grade teachers can be useful when trying to determine where students will struggle.... Show more

Ortinau s favorite teaching strategy is to relate mathematics to students lives or to get them up
and moving with activities. I have not been present for one of these activities, however, for
example, one Friday she led an activity that was an introduction to their unit on statistics and
probability. The students were broken up into small groups and were each handed a small box
of Sun Maid raisins. The students had to empty the box and count the number of raisins, which
differed from box to box. Then, she created a line plot on a piece of green paper. On the bottom
of the paper, there was a number line ranging from twenty five to forty. The students had to glue
their raisin box above the number that corresponded with the number of raisins that were in
their box. Mrs. Ortinau feels that students remember the lessons more when they are given the
opportunity to make the discovery of a rule or formula on their own instead of just being told
what it is. This can be seen when Mrs. Ortinau ties in life examples into her lessons. For
example, her examples do not talk about Joey buying 700 watermelons, but her examples include
a family of four trying to figure out how much change they will have after leaving a 20% tip on
their $50 bill. This also creates a purpose for their math by explaining that adults must calculate
every single time they leave a tip for a

Elaboration Likelihood Model By Richard E. Petty And John T
Elaboration Likelihood Model This model, developed by Richard E. Petty and John T. Cacioppo,
favors a process based approach. This allows for a given variable having different persuasive
effects at different points in the interaction process [7]. Petty and Cacioppo break the persuasive
process down into three steps: motivation to process information, ability to process information, and
cognitive processing. To proceed through these steps, people take either the central route, which has
more long lasting effects, or the peripheral route [6]. The central route relies on high intrinsic
motivation and ability while the peripheral route relies on implicit cues and associations.
Elaboration refers to considering the presented information... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One example of this is what researchers Kar Yan Tam and Shuk Ying Ho term as a sorting cue, a
peripheral way to guide users attention and decision making process [7]. For instance, developers
could emphasize punctual check ins with sorting cues. One possible way to do this would be
highlighting the check in tab and the specific button for that check in in a clear but non obtrusive
way. By making the button catch users attention, it might remind them to check in if they have
forgotten. Another possibility is, by taking advantage of the mobile platform, configuring
notifications around the check in time for when the user does not have the application open. The
Functional Triad Along with coining the concept of captology, the study of persuasive technology
development, B.J. Fogg developed the functional triad framework. The purpose of this framework
is to sort the persuasive elements of a given technology into three categories of how humans can
view computers toward the end of better understanding the technology s persuasive power [2].
These three categories are computers as tools, computers as media, and computers as social actors.
Since it is the least relevant to SlipBuddy, we will briefly address computers as media first. This
category focuses primarily on simulations. By helping users practice a behavior, they can
experience change in reality [2]. There are three subcategories: cause and effect, environment, and

Thrillers are one of America s favorite genres of movies to watch. If you are a bookworm, a

Impact Of Public Policy On Global Energy And Climate Change
Aidan Johnson
BBE2201
25 April 2016
The Impact of Public Policy on Global Energy And Climate Change As a political science major
with a focus on international politics, energy and the environment are not just a means to an end
but instead they are the focus of the work itself. Rather than studying business and needing energy
to run things effectively, the study of international relationships is in the business of dealing with
these large topics in energy reduction especially as they relate to reducing carbon emissions. The
deeper one dives into the real core of worldwide energy production the more complicated and
hopelessly confusing it may seem. With thousands of government policies dictating energy
production, and hundreds of governments acting around the world to come to agreements
concerning emission and environmental protection, the concern of global climate change as a result
of carbon emissions has been seen by many as beyond hope. However, despite overwhelming
odds, in December 2015 a landmark agreement was reached by 195 countries to decrease global
fossil fuel emissions and attempt to mitigate the effects of global warming. Just a few months later
in April of 2016 it was signed into effect by all of them, and while it still needs to be ratified in
many countries this is a historic step towards protecting the environment from the harmful effects
of global warming. Ahead a brief outline of our domestic energy policy will be examined, followed

Regression Analysis For A Dependence Method
Regarding the testing of the hypotheses of this research, regression analysis or structural equation
modelling techniques is best suited for a dependence method (Hair et al., 2014). We employed
regression analysis to specify the extent to which the independent variables predicted the dependent
variable. The analysis conducted in this study was therefore intended to test the hypotheses of the
study. The regression output provided some measures which allow assessment of the hypotheses.
Following from the hypotheses, Brand Engagement was used as the dependent variable while the
independent variables consisted of Monetary Savings, Exploration, Entertainment, Recognition, and
Social Benefit. Results from the model assessment are presented in the Table VI. Insert table VI
Results from the model assessment indicate strong and significant reliabilities among the constructs
used in the study (F = 87.362, Prob.F stats 0.001). This was followed by Exploration (ОІ = 0.102, t
= 2.271, P = 0.024 0.05), as well as Entertainment (ОІ = 0.081, t = 1.712, P = 0.068 0.10). Although
Recognition was positively related to Brand Engagement, it was not statistically significant (ОІ =
0.051, t = 1.084, P = 0.279 0.05). It was however discovered that Monetary savings was inversely
related to Brand Engagement (ОІ = .009, t = 0.194) as well as statistically not significant in the

Pericles Foils
Throughout Pericles, Prince of Tyre, there exists a blatant dichotomy between good and evil. The
play lacks moral ambiguity within many of the central characters. One can recognize this
dichotomy by analyzing the utilization of foils in Pericles. Pericles incorporates obviously corrupt
characters that contrast with virtuous counterparts. For instance, in two analogous instances
Pericles travels to a new city, attempting to court a princess. The first princess, King Antiochus
daughter, acts as a foil to Thaisa, the second princess. Thaisa is a virgin with a healthy relationship
with her father, while Antiochus daughter engages in an incestuous affair with her own father.

The Role Of Jealousy In Othello
The Role of Jealousy in Othello.
The drama Othello , is well known, for the way Shakespeare was able to make the audience focus
on the destructive and corrupting power of jealousy.
The theme jealousy in the drama Othello causes the major problems for the characters in the story.
Jealousy in the story can be seen in two different views, which are:
a)The destructive power of sexual jealousy.
b)The jealousy of power and position.
Sexual jealousy was exhibited as one of the destructive factors of jealousy that leads to tragic
occasions for characters in the play. Othello was made to be sexually jealous by Iago about the way
Desdemona was cheating on him with Cassio. For instance, when Iago told Othello Well, there you

In the first seen, Iago shows of his jealously was right at the beginning of the play, he said Mere
prattle without practice is all his soldier ship. But he sir, had th election (Shakespeare.1.1.26 27).
This helps to show Iago s jealousy towards Cassio as he wanted to be the Lutenant to Othello, for
all his service he has done for Othello.
Also, Iago was jealous of Othello s relationship with Desdemona. For instance when Iago says It
cannot be that Desdemona should long continue her love to the Moor/She must change for youth
(Shakespeare 1.3.378 382). This quote furthers shows how Iago was jealous for Othello and
Desdemona s love. Desdemona is the daughter of a well respected Senate, and she is much known
for her beauty, and it seems like all the men in Venice in one way wanted to her as their wife, and
Othello, who is a moor cannot just marry Desdemona.
Furthermore, Iago was jealous of Othello from the fact that he hated him, even if he was given
the position or not. For instance where Iago said Though I do hate him as I do hell pains, yet,
for necessity of present life, I must show out a flag and sign of love which is indeed but sign

The Perks Of Public Ownership
The Perks of Public Ownership The theories of why firms go public provide insight into why
firms go private because they examine many of the costs and benefits of being a public firm
(Bharath; p6, 2009). Firms turn to listing for a number of different reasons. The motivations for
an IPO tend to differ across firms and countries, but in general, going public allows for enhanced
external monitoring, ability to raise capital for growth and acquisitions, increase in investor
recognition, as well as allowing a company to strengthen its bargaining power with creditors.
Access to Capital One of the main reasons that firms choose to list on public markets is so they
can gain access to equity capital. As Roell** puts forward, access to new... Show more content on

Alongside this, Kim Weisbach** analysed numerous IPOs from over 38 countries, it was found
that almost all the firms they studied had raised substantial amounts of new capital from their
IPOs (2008). The cost of capital plays a large factor in this phenomenon. By listing themselves
on the public markets, the visibility of a firm increases, by using this status firms can create
competition between suppliers of finance, allowing the firm to negotiate private capital at more
competitive rates, thereby creating cheaper finance. Pagano** found that Italian firms
executing an IPO would experience a 0.3% reduction in their cost of credit after they became
public (2008). To highlight the point even further, we can bring forward the situation of a single
financing source that, as put forward by Chemmanur et al, will be less than fully diversified, and
will have considerably more bargaining power relative to the entrepreneur (p269, 1999). Finally,
this is supported by the Bancel et al study, over half of the CFOs agree that the IPO has
reinforced the firm s balance of power with bankers and creditors (p863, 2009). Investor
Recognition and Visibility As mentioned briefly in the prior paragraph, the visibility of firms is
elevated post listing, and this is another main factor as to why firms go public. Not only does this
act to lower the cost of capital, but as Stoughton et al** mention, by going public the firm has

How Entrepreneurs Differ from Other Business Owners Essay
There has been a large amount of attention paid to the subject of entrepreneurship in the last few
years; mainly because most people have chosen to go from working for somebody else to be their
own bosses and work for their dreams. Yet, many still wonder what is entrepreneurship and what is
that sets entrepreneurs apart from other regular businessowners?
Free lance writer and expert in economic issues Jeanne Holden suggest:
There is no one definitive profile of an entrepreneur. Successful entrepreneurs come in various ages,
income levels, gender, and race. They differ in education and experience. But research indicates that
most successful entrepreneurs share certain personal attributes, including: creativity, dedication, ...

Then, in the middle of starting up a new business entrepreneurs need determination in order to
never give up, even when things seem harder than what they expected; this determination makes
their focus always be on achieving their goals and success. This must work in conjunction with
flexibility, because every entrepreneur must know how to adapt to the changing world and trends in
the business environment, entrepreneurs competing with already established companies must be
open for change and improvement.
After a entrepreneur has managed to establish himself as a business owner, he uses other skills
to walk toward success, these are leadership and passion. Leadership is the capacity of directing
and influencing others; an entrepreneur must also be a leader in order to run a successful business
where employees feel moved and inspired to give the best of them each day. And leadership could
not exist without passion, because that is what makes an entrepreneur feel confident about a new
idea and keeps him focus on his main goal, while also inspiring the people around him.
Self confidence is what makes an entrepreneur make the right and the smartest decision at the right
time, they have to

Dreaming Is Something We ve All Experienced While Sleeping
Dreaming is something we ve all experienced while sleeping. Our dreams are produced by an
altered state of consciousness, in which images and fantasies become mixed with reality. We all
experience dreams that range from the pleasant and the not so pleasant or nightmares. Dreaming is
still largely a mystery to science, as experiments are conducted to figure out why we dreamand how
dreams function. We do know one thing for sure, that everyone dreams unless in the rare case
they are prevented by meditation or a brain injury. Dreams occur in two states; REM sleep and
non REM sleep which are very different and give the dreamer different sensations. In REM sleep
our dreams contain intense emotions, visual and auditory hallucinations. While in NON REM
sleep our dreams tend to be dull and realistic, compared to REM sleep dreams that are illogical
and incoherent. The contents of the dream can be linked to certain parts of the brain that is
activated during our sleep, so in REM sleep, parts of the brain that control motivation, emotion,
and reward are activated while areas in the pre frontal cortex are deactivated; since the prefrontal
cortex is necessary for self awareness this is believed to be the cause for why REM dreams are
irrational.
Rem stands for rapid eye movement, during REM sleep neutrons in the brain, specifically in the
occipital cortex and brain stem regions, are more active during REM sleep than during waking
hours or compared to non REM sleep. While this is

Child Sexual Abuse In Canada
In 2008 the findings of the Public Health Agency of Canada estimated 235,315 investigations of
child abuse. This investigation stated that the primary categories of maltreatment includes physical
abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, emotional maltreatment, and exposure to intimate partner violence
(Public Health Agency of Canada, 2010). However, sexual maltreatment of children wasn t truly
defined until 1974 when Child AbusePrevention and Treatment Act provided us with a legal
definition of sexual abuse (Feerick et al., 2006):
The employment, use, persuasion, inducement, enticement, or coercion of any child to engage in,
or assist any other person to engage in, any sexually explicit conduct or simulation of such conduct

CIS 2008 states that Sexual abuse contained nine forms: penetration, attempted penetration, oral
sex, fondling, sex talk or images, voyeurism, exhibitionism, exploitation, and other sexual abuse
(Public Health Agency of Canada, 2010). However, different places state similar or other forms of
sexual abuse, such as is shown to us by McCoy and Keen when it comes to Florida s statute.
In Florida many different forms are included beginning with penetration, whether it be full or
slight, either done vaginally or anal, and there may or may not be emission of semen. Next,
Intrusion into genitals or anal opening by any object that isn t the perpetrator s genitals or intimate
parts is also included as well as the intentional masturbating of the perpetrator. Finally, the
intentional exposure of the perpetrator s genitals and sexual exploitation of the child are included
in the statute (McCoy and Keen, 2014). Exploitation of children is often addressed alongside
maltreatment and is described as a child being involved in, allowed to, encourage to, or being forced

Political Economy Of America
INTRODUCTION
The political economy of the United States of America is at a crossroads. Mired in legislative
gridlock due to the polarization of political parties, struggling to fully recover from the global
recession brought on by the collapse of the financial industry, and lagging in comparison to some
of our peers in respect to education standards and social welfare policies, many have begun to
predict the decline of America and have declared the model of classical liberal capitalism defunct.
In previous centuries, our loosely structured economic system, based upon the principles derived
from free market capitalism and individual civil liberties, provided the American economy the

government belies its claims of wanting to foster economic growth by maintaining the largest
corporate tax among developed economies. This high corporate tax structure has precipitated the
flow of large corporations to tax havens around the world the effect of which has caused the U.S. to
miss out on valuable tax revenue while small and medium sized domestic businesses must struggle
to foot the bill themselves. The government would like to put the impetus on American corporations
to return their tax headquarters to the United States, but why would they when they can legally
obtain a lower rate elsewhere? There needs to be a compromise between business and government
in America that creates a lower, competitive corporate tax structure while still allowing government
to generate revenue that can be spent on developing effective social welfare

What Does Skiing Mean To Me Essay
All year long I am constantly doing some sort of sport or outdoor activity. I love being active. If
I had to choose just one I would without a doubt choose skiing. Skiing for me is more than a
sport or hobby. It is an escape. It relaxes, calms and creates an environment that is unlike any other.
That feeling of speed as the wind hits my face is so thrilling.
I started skiing when I was just five. I started taking lessons and really learning the basics when I
was seven. When I first started skiing I did not enjoy it at all. I was cold, tired and did not like
falling down. After many lessons and skiing on my own, I started to enjoy skiing more. I skied
with friends and family a few times a year. The elementary school I attended offered a winter ski
and snowboard program. Every Tuesday of every week from January to March my entire school
would travel to King Pine Ski Resort in Madison, NH. We would take ski lessons offered at the
mountain. During those years when I was able to leave school and be brought to this mountain
and ski with friends was when I started to look at skiing less as hobby and more as a passion.
Skiing was not just an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skiing has always helped me get through school by relieving stress and giving me a break from
having to think about one hundred things at a time. I love being outdoors, the views, and the
exercise. Above all what I love is the rush. I am sure skiers around the world can relate to the
thrill of going fifty miles per hour on two pieces of wood and plastic strapped to your feet. Skiing
is a completely unique experience. Whether it s flying down the mountain, cutting through glades
or going off a huge kicker, the feeling is almost addicting. It creates a world where you are only
thinking about what you are doing at that exact moment and nothing else. I believe everyone at
some point in their life should experience this

Essay about The Reagan Tax Cuts And Foreign Policy
The Reagan Tax Cuts and Foreign Policy
During the 1980 s President Ronald Reagan s (our 40th president from
1981 to 1989) domestic policy of a substantial tax cut led to greatly increased economic prosperity
for our country. During Reagan s administration marked changes were made to the tax code and
economic statistics showed a major change for the better. However, at the same time, the Democrats
controlled the Congress and continued increased spending against Reagan s wishes. The Joint
Economic
Committee stated that an across the board tax cut was not new. In the 20 s the
Mellon tax cuts were implemented by Secretary of Treasury Andrew Mellon during the
Administrations of Hoover, Harding, and Coolidge. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This act simplified and reduced taxes, but the democrats wanted to claim equal credit for the bill
as well. A stock market crash in 1987 raised questions about the nation s economic health. A new
bill to balance the federal budget became law in 1987, but the huge deficit continued to be a
concern to the government.
Congress passed Reagan s requests for cuts in taxes and in some government programs. Reagan
also won increased funds for defense. By 1982, however, the country was in an recession, which
meant that there was an extended decline in general business activity, typically three consecutive
quarters of falling real gross national product. The economy improved in 1983. But the increased
defense spending and tax cut had led to a record budget deficit. Democrats attacked
Reagan for cutting social welfare programs and called for reduced defense spending and a tax
increase in order to lower the deficit.
Foreign Policy
President Reagan through foreign policy sought to achieve peace through strength. He had learned
how to deal skillfully with Congress and obtain legislation to strengthen our national defense. In
1983, Reagan sent U.S.
Marines to Lebanon as part of a peacekeeping force. The Marines were recalled in
1984, after some 240 had been killed in a terrorist attack. Reagan also sent U.S. troops to Grenada
in 1983, to prevent what the he saw as a Cuban attempt to take over the Caribbean island nation. The
President denounced the left wing

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind provides a good example of the possibility of presenting
philosophical concepts in a fictional feature film. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is science
fiction based romantic and comedy film written by Charlie Kaufman and is directed by Michel
Gondry. The film is based on romance and mainly the scientific aspect to explore and flourish the
nature of the human memory. The film was presented to the viewers in March 2004. The film is
made closer to originality, something like troubling memories forgotten by the mind of the person
but still it is some where in memory. Sometimes we are concentrated on everlasting thoughts in our
minds when we are alone and making assumptions about matter, the film is based on such
phenomenon and is a great piece of art.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a movie primarily about two lovers namely Joel Barish
and Clementine Kruczynski. Joel, wakes up on Valentine s Day, skips work, takes a train to Montauk
, and meets Clementine. In this film Joel, a soloist meets a girl namely clementine who needs
carefulness and love but their relationship ended when Joel came to know that she had erased him
from her memory. Joel became sad after being aware of the situation, he was desperate and finally
came to a logical solution to forget her and then he removed her from his mind as well. Joel and
Clementine incidentally met again in a train and immediately drawn to each

Arnie Plagiarism
Hi Everyone,
Regarding the College Paper Case Study, I have to say that Reggie and Arnie share almost the same
amount of responsibility, they were both committing plagiarisms. Furthermore, I think that Arnie
was more guilty because he was ought not just to warn Reggie about the consequences, but also he
was responsible for reporting Reggie s behavior as stated in the UoPeople Course Catalog (2017),
Students encountering suspected cases of cheating should discreetly report the violator to their
Course Instructor (p. 139).
What do I think about plagiarism? well, it is definitely a problem which is present in many
aspects of our life these days. For example, in my field of work, I have seen programmers
delivered solutions that they don t even understand or are capable of improving, simply because
what they did was just to copy and paste their code from a forum. You may argue that it is code,
and it could look really similar one to another, but the truth is that code means ideas, and those
could also be plagiarised. Sadly this is a problem which is not getting any better, especially
nowadays where people are able to copy images, music, and videos from any source through the
internet basically without any effort. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What I would do or recommend to avoid it, is this:
Always take notes of the source of every material you use for your papers in case you need to cite
and reference any of them.
Use tools like an online plagiarism checker, because you may write something you read a long
time ago and that also needs to be cited and referenced.
If you are not sure you are plagiarising, better cite and reference the material to be sure.

Similarities Between Pyramus And Thisbe And Romeo And Juliet
Pyramus and Thisbe and Romeo and Juliet are two tragic romance stories that are comparable in
many ways. The similar concepts and elements reflected in the two works portray themes of
love and tragedy, while also expressing the same types of characters and events. The works of
the two writers, Ovid and Shakespeare, were written in completely different time periods, but
are remarkably comparable in the senses of character purpose, elements, theme, and events. The
tragic ending of both stories is suicide, Both pairs of star crossed lovers make the impulsive
decision to take their lives as a result of tragic events and mislead information. In the Prologue of
Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare states, A pair of star crossed lovers take their life, (Romeo and
Juliet Prologue line 6). In Pyramus and Thisbe, Ovid says, The death of two young lovers was the
cause, (947). Pyramus and Romeo both commit suicide under false pretenses and this ultimately

between their families kept them from seeing each other. Lord and Lady Capulet wanted Juliet to

  • 2. 1983 Apush Dbq James McManus Mr. Colameco AP United States History 7 January 2013 Example Document Based Question Nearly all of the reasons for agrarian discontent in the late 19th century stem from three areas: land, transportation, and money. The farmers were fighting the perceived threats posed by monopolies and trusts, railroads, and the demonetization of silver. The American farmer during this period already had his fair share of problems which, compared to the success of the industrialized businessmen, resulted in much of the animosity between the two groups. The fact of the matter was farmers had entered a viscous cycle. Wheat and cotton, once the staples of American agriculture were selling at such low prices that it was almost impossible... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As crop prices fell, farmers were forced to mortgage their lands and take out loans in order to grow more and more crop just to break even. When these tactics were ultimately unsuccessful, the banks closed in and quickly foreclosed on the farmers estates. These mass foreclosures led to a belief among farmers that they were all slaves to their eastern masters and that only the freedom of unlimited silver would release them from their shackles. One can see the argument from the farmer s side. The banks gave out loans with exorbitant interest rates simply because they could. From 1865 to 1895, the population had risen by close to eighty percent whereas the amount of currency in circulation had only gone up by about sixty percent. With this deflation, the farmers were paying back double and triple the amount of money that they had originally borrowed. With free coinage of silver, these loans would be balanced and the farmers could suddenly afford their mortgages. This argument for silver was made famous by William Jennings Bryan s Cross of Gold speech at the democratic nomination convention. Bryan would not rest until the Crime of 1873 was rectified. McKinley however shows the counter argument towards this radical inflation. Coining silver would be a temporary stay of execution for the farmers. It would not make farming any more profitable, but would only cheat the banks out of money that the farmers had agreed to pay them. The farmers were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Meursault as Sisyphus in Albert Camus ,The Stranger But from the moment he knows, his tragedy begins. Meursault is not unlike Sisyphus. In the novel, The Stranger, by Albert Camus, we watch this character change from a carefree man who loves being alive and free to a man who is imprisoned for a meaningless murder he commits but who eventually finds happiness in his fate. During the first half of the novel, we see many examples of Meursault s freedom and how he exercises it. He does what he wants, when he wants to with no regard to how he affects the people around him. Meursault lives his life with no restrictions. He is his own boss. Relaxed and free. In the opening of the novel, Meursault receives word that his mother has passed away. While keeping her vigil, he smokes a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He acts so indifferent about her death that, by that evening, Marie had forgotten all about it. Someone looking in from the outside would think he is heartless, but the thought doesn t even cross his mind. He is blissfully ignorant. The point in which Meursault s freedom is taken from him is when he puts five bullets into a man for no apparent reason. Perhaps the first bullet is understandable, self defense maybe since the man had a knife. But the other four bullets were pointless. During the second half of the book is where we see the most connections to The Myth of Sisyphus. Meursault is imprisoned for the crime he commits. Sisyphus is condemned to ceaselessly rolling a rock to the top of a mountain for his crime. It is in the courtroom, while on trial, that he becomes conscious to the fact that he is a criminal and that all of the people hate him not only for his crime, but also for the way that he lived his life when he was a free man. He states, It was then I felt a stirring go through the room and for the first time I realized I was guilty. It is in this consciousness that it becomes tragic. He finally realizes the whole extent of his wretched condition. Meursault and Sisyphus both have rocks of their own. Sisyphus is literally a rock. Meursault s rock is symbolic. • 5. Nino Vs The Jewel Exchange Summary Nino vs The Jewelry Exchange The legal agenda in the case of Nino vs The Jewelry Exchange was that the defendant, Rajae Nino made allegations to his employer that he was being discriminated on the account of his gender and nationality. The primary stipulation to this case was that Nino had signed a contract that was unconscionable. The primary function of this agreement gave most of the power to The Jewelry Exchange. The Court of Appeals decided that the arbitration agreements did not favor their employee. The definition of unconscionable from Webster s Dictionary states, excessive, unreasonable . What is means for a contract to be unconscionable is that contractually, the contract is very one sided and extremely favors one party over another. Procedural unconscionability is the conditions and the procedures that are within the contract results in various inequalities such as age, intelligence, and relative bargaining power. When a contract is substantively unconscionable it means that that actual terms of the contract are unfair, oppressive or harsh. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lax Credit Standards: In an effort to remedy such disproportion between inventory and demand, in 1995 SDI began to negligently issue credit lines. As exemplified by Table 2, due to such leniency net sales continued to increase between 1995 and 1997 (Appendix A). However, as illustrated by Table 1 the relaxed credit standards caused a 39% spike in accounts receivable from 1994 to 1995 (Appendix A). Consequently, the increase in inventory and accounts receivable negatively impacted the current ratio of the firm. As a result, the firm s liquidity dropped significantly below industry average in 1995 to 1.90 from 2.96, well above the 2.25 average, in 1994 (Appendix C). Therefore, the cash flow of the firm was negatively affected by the issuance of credit as accounts receivable continued to rise. Loan Reliance: As inventories and account receivable steadily increased, the firm distressingly opted for a short term solution. By means of long term lending in 1994 and higher short term credit in 1994 and 1995, SDI chose to temporarily resolve the current issues of the firm without considering the potential long term ramifications. As illustrated in Table 1, long term loans remained the same while short term bank loans increased by 71% between 1994 and 1995; a drastic change within a short span of time (Appendix A). • 12. Natural Law And The Preservation Of Human Life Natural law and the Preservation of Human Life Donald J. Moore Webster University September 18, 2016 Natural Law and the Preservation of Human Life In order to address the scenarios in this assignment, one must define the when life begins. According to Thomas Aquinas God created the universe and all plants, animals and life of all types under the doctrine of External Law. Based on his vision, God instilled Natural Law in law to fulfill the parameters of External Law. Self preservation is not only a function of protecting one s self being, but also by ensuring the species survives. This is accomplished through the second inclination of procreation. Aquinas teachings proclaim that God created the universe and by doing so, created all life. So logic must dictate that life begins at conception and that the developing fetus has already been instilled with Natural Law. A young woman who is four months pregnant has recently discovered that she has tuberculosis. The doctor informs her that she must take a drug that will cure her disease, but that the drug will also have the effect of aborting the fetus. There is no other available drug that will cure her disease, and if she does not take the drug immediately she will die. According to natural law, may the young woman take the drug? Both the mother and the fetus are innocent human lives. Even though the fetus may not be capable of understanding, it is still a life and is dependent upon the mother for life. However, the fetus ... This in particular topic has lead to a multitude of problems, such as social categorization, and the cause of prejudice. The stereotyping propaganda in the United States has caused more problems and attracted more attention than is truly needed. Stereotyping has been a normal occurrence since human beings have been able to do so to others, as tragic as that is. For the previous century, the profession had been dominated by theories and practices, which was focused on unearthing a client s repressed memories or family issues in hopes of identifying cracks in their mental and/or their emotional foundation that needed to be fixed. The change in perspective and approach presented by Steven de Shazer and his counterparts provided therapist and clients alike an opportunity to center in on the presenting issue, instead of prolonging the process in search of hidden truths. While de Shazer presented an alternative thought process to the therapeutic process, his model was the culmination of various therapist and models continuing to push the envelope. Historical Background The American psychiatrist, Milton Erickson had been credited as one of the pioneers for stepping away from conventional thinking. He suggested therapy must be intensive and required a long term commitment. In fact, his stance of successful therapy often did not necessitate a lengthy therapeutic relationship along with a small change by the client was the catalyst needed to bring about larger change are both cornerstones in SFBT (Visser, 2013). Observation and Measurement in Human Services Research Observation and measurement in human services research Types of reliability The theory of reliability states that it is impossible to calculate the reliability of a study in an exact way. Instead, reliability is estimated and this creates an imperfection in research. There are four major types of reliability. The first is inter rater or inter observer reliability. This means the reliability that is used to assess the degree to which the different people who are observing or rating the items being studied give estimates that are consistent regarding the same phenomenon. A good example is the popular example of a glass half empty and one that is half full. This is to mean that people who are in essence similar in every nature may have different ideas or views of the same phenomenon. This kind of reliability is estimated by using a pilot study which is used to establish the expected reliability in the main study(Rosnow Rosenthal, 2012). The second form of reliability is the test retest reliability. This kind of reliability is used to assess the consistency of a measure from one period of time to another. This reliability is estimated when the same test is administered to the same sample group but at two different periods in time. This approach makes an assumption that there is no substantial change in the construct that is being measures in the two different occasions(Rosnow Rosenthal, 2012). The third form of reliability is the parallel forms reliability. This form ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before beginning, Mrs. Ortinau considers what her students have learned in previous grades, and she tries to expand on that as much as possible. Ortinau s favorite teaching strategy is to relate mathematics to students lives or to get them up and moving with activities. I have not been present for one of these activities, however, for example, one Friday she led an activity that was an introduction to their unit on statistics and probability. The students were broken up into small groups and were each handed a small box of Sun Maid raisins. The students had to empty the box and count the number of raisins, which differed from box to box. Then, she created a line plot on a piece of green paper. On the bottom of the paper, there was a number line ranging from twenty five to forty. The students had to glue their raisin box above the number that corresponded with the number of raisins that were in their box. Mrs. Ortinau feels that students remember the lessons more when they are given the opportunity to make the discovery of a rule or formula on their own instead of just being told what it is. This can be seen when Mrs. Ortinau ties in life examples into her lessons. This allows for a given variable having different persuasive effects at different points in the interaction process [7]. Petty and Cacioppo break the persuasive process down into three steps: motivation to process information, ability to process information, and cognitive processing. To proceed through these steps, people take either the central route, which has more long lasting effects, or the peripheral route [6]. The central route relies on high intrinsic motivation and ability while the peripheral route relies on implicit cues and associations. Elaboration refers to considering the presented information... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of this is what researchers Kar Yan Tam and Shuk Ying Ho term as a sorting cue, a peripheral way to guide users attention and decision making process [7]. For instance, developers could emphasize punctual check ins with sorting cues. One possible way to do this would be highlighting the check in tab and the specific button for that check in in a clear but non obtrusive way. By making the button catch users attention, it might remind them to check in if they have forgotten. Another possibility is, by taking advantage of the mobile platform, configuring notifications around the check in time for when the user does not have the application open. The Functional Triad Along with coining the concept of captology, the study of persuasive technology development, B.J. Fogg developed the functional triad framework. The purpose of this framework is to sort the persuasive elements of a given technology into three categories of how humans can view computers toward the end of better understanding the technology s persuasive power [2]. These three categories are computers as tools, computers as media, and computers as social actors. Since it is the least relevant to SlipBuddy, we will briefly address computers as media first. This category focuses primarily on simulations. By helping users practice a behavior, they can experience change in reality [2]. There are three subcategories: cause and effect, environment, and ... Impact Of Public Policy On Global Energy And Climate Change Aidan Johnson BBE2201 25 April 2016 The Impact of Public Policy on Global Energy And Climate Change As a political science major with a focus on international politics, energy and the environment are not just a means to an end but instead they are the focus of the work itself. Rather than studying business and needing energy to run things effectively, the study of international relationships is in the business of dealing with these large topics in energy reduction especially as they relate to reducing carbon emissions. The deeper one dives into the real core of worldwide energy production the more complicated and hopelessly confusing it may seem. With thousands of government policies dictating energy production, and hundreds of governments acting around the world to come to agreements concerning emission and environmental protection, the concern of global climate change as a result of carbon emissions has been seen by many as beyond hope. However, despite overwhelming odds, in December 2015 a landmark agreement was reached by 195 countries to decrease global fossil fuel emissions and attempt to mitigate the effects of global warming. Just a few months later in April of 2016 it was signed into effect by all of them, and while it still needs to be ratified in many countries this is a historic step towards protecting the environment from the harmful effects of global warming. Regression Analysis For A Dependence Method Regarding the testing of the hypotheses of this research, regression analysis or structural equation modelling techniques is best suited for a dependence method (Hair et al., 2014). We employed regression analysis to specify the extent to which the independent variables predicted the dependent variable. The analysis conducted in this study was therefore intended to test the hypotheses of the study. The regression output provided some measures which allow assessment of the hypotheses. Following from the hypotheses, Brand Engagement was used as the dependent variable while the independent variables consisted of Monetary Savings, Exploration, Entertainment, Recognition, and Social Benefit. Results from the model assessment are presented in the Table VI. Insert table VI Results from the model assessment indicate strong and significant reliabilities among the constructs used in the study (F = 87.362, Prob.F stats 0.001). For instance, in two analogous instances Pericles travels to a new city, attempting to court a princess. The first princess, King Antiochus daughter, acts as a foil to Thaisa, the second princess. The drama Othello , is well known, for the way Shakespeare was able to make the audience focus on the destructive and corrupting power of jealousy. The theme jealousy in the drama Othello causes the major problems for the characters in the story. Jealousy in the story can be seen in two different views, which are: a)The destructive power of sexual jealousy. b)The jealousy of power and position. Sexual jealousy was exhibited as one of the destructive factors of jealousy that leads to tragic occasions for characters in the play. Also, Iago was jealous of Othello s relationship with Desdemona. For instance when Iago says It cannot be that Desdemona should long continue her love to the Moor/She must change for youth (Shakespeare 1.3.378 382). The Perks Of Public Ownership The Perks of Public Ownership The theories of why firms go public provide insight into why firms go private because they examine many of the costs and benefits of being a public firm (Bharath; p6, 2009). Firms turn to listing for a number of different reasons. The motivations for an IPO tend to differ across firms and countries, but in general, going public allows for enhanced external monitoring, ability to raise capital for growth and acquisitions, increase in investor recognition, as well as allowing a company to strengthen its bargaining power with creditors. Access to Capital One of the main reasons that firms choose to list on public markets is so they can gain access to equity capital. As Roell** puts forward, access to new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alongside this, Kim Weisbach** analysed numerous IPOs from over 38 countries, it was found that almost all the firms they studied had raised substantial amounts of new capital from their IPOs (2008). The cost of capital plays a large factor in this phenomenon. By listing themselves on the public markets, the visibility of a firm increases, by using this status firms can create competition between suppliers of finance, allowing the firm to negotiate private capital at more competitive rates, thereby creating cheaper finance. Pagano** found that Italian firms executing an IPO would experience a 0.3% reduction in their cost of credit after they became public (2008). To highlight the point even further, we can bring forward the situation of a single financing source that, as put forward by Chemmanur et al, will be less than fully diversified, and will have considerably more bargaining power relative to the entrepreneur (p269, 1999). Finally, this is supported by the Bancel et al study, over half of the CFOs agree that the IPO has reinforced the firm s balance of power with bankers and creditors (p863, 2009). Investor Recognition and Visibility As mentioned briefly in the prior paragraph, the visibility of firms is elevated post listing, and this is another main factor as to why firms go public. Not only does this act to lower the cost of capital, but as Stoughton et al** mention, by going public the firm has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dreaming is still largely a mystery to science, as experiments are conducted to figure out why we dreamand how dreams function. We do know one thing for sure, that everyone dreams unless in the rare case they are prevented by meditation or a brain injury.
