As I look up at the burnt orange sky I feel like I could forget where I am and what I am. I love
watching the sky, during the day, at night, at sunrise and sunset there isn t one time the sky disappoints
me. As I walk home from college and watch the sunset morph I can t help but feel blessed, everything
still isn t perfect but it s going to be.
I stretch at the starting line and take in the scene around me, the green of the trees, the sea of blue
above me and the sea of colour on the people. There s a crowd of smiles and the atmosphere is

Digestion Lab Report
Science Script
Introduction;
Everyday, we eat and drink, often taking it for granted. Most people disregard what happens within
our body during digestion process, So, what really happens in our body when we digest?
Scene 1; Mouth
Digestion first begins in the mouth, using mechanical digestion. Incisors first bite into the food
breaking the polymers into smaller monomers. As the food goes further into your mouth the food is
then ground by your molars. This breaks down the food into smaller particles, which is then mixed by
the tongue along with saliva. Saliva is secreted by the salivary glands into the mouth, and this saliva
contains enzymes to help break down the food. Complex carbohydrates, such as starch or glycogen,
will be broken down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the bolus enters the stomach, the lower oesophageal sphincter contracts to prevent acid reflux.
Folds in the stomach allow for the stomach to expand as the stomach fills. The stomach excretes
hydrochloric acid and other enzymes which allow for the break down of the bolus, as well as mucus to
help protect the lining of the stomach walls against the stomach acid. Protein digestion begins in the
stomach, where stomach acid of pH of 1 disrupts protein structure which allows for proteolytic
enzymes, also known as proteases, to reduce large proteins to polypeptides (Human Anatomy).
Stomach acid has numerous jobs in the breaking down of the bolus such as; rendering minerals more
soluble, maintains acidity, killing microbes and converts inactive digestive enzymes to their active
form. The muscle contractions in the stomach causes the bolus to turn into chyme, a food mixture with
a watery like texture. The chyme now enters the small intestine through the pyloric sphincter at the
base of the stomach, which regulates the rate at which chyme is released into the small

The Importance Of Self Reflection
Peoples appearances in todays society is based upon the clothes they decided to wear that morning, the
hairstyle they spent hours on doing and the hours that they would never get back deciding what pattern
would look cute to wear on the outside of their skin, bedazzled with sterling silver. With no
anticipation of being stereotyped people continuously repeat these actions in the purpose of self
satisfaction or expression. The two articles referred to in this essay provides personal experiences of
the causes in self reflection decisions in addition to a medical perspective on why sometimes the risk
outweighs the rewards. In fact, in the Article Dredlocked: You see my hair, but do you see me? by
Veronica Chambers she gives a backstory on how her hair was portrayed her whole life as bad , nappy
, or hard and short . She continues more in depth on how she was surrounded by others whose hair
was straightened into acceptance. Her family, best friend and the doll barbie was even mentioned as a
example of her surroundings that belittled her hair texture. Sharing a story that took place her junior
year in college onNew Year s Eve, Chambers took action in regards to twisting her hair. She long
waited for a call from a boy that was never received. Previously inspired months before by a model on
the front cover of essence, she forwarded to imitating the locks flowing with all the majesty seen on
Alice Walker. In the process of twisting her hair, she quoted a saying her mother told her for
motivation However New Year s catches you is how you ll spend the year . After hours spent on her
hair the first response was given by her aunt shaking her head in disapproval. Stereotypes flowed in
more than ever. She was called a Rasta mama , Nubian princess , drug dealer , unemployed artist ,
nature chick , rock star , and people even inferred that she smoked weed and listened to Bob Marley.
Chambers told herself that twisting her hair started a process of seeing beauty where no one had ever
seen it before . Chambers withstood the negative and complementing stereotypes in regards to her
own self satisfaction. Her satisfaction of her self expression was all the justification she needed, she

Needs Hierarchy Theory of Motivation
a. One of the most widely mentioned theories of motivation is the hierarchy of needs theory put forth
by psychologist Abraham Maslow. He was known for establishing the theory of a hierarchy, writing
that the needs of human beings can act as motivators when those very needs remain unsatisfied. In
order to address a need of a higher level, the immediate lower level of need must be satisfied initially.
Maslow s studied extensively exemplary people like Einstein, Roosevelt rather than mentally ill or
neurotic people. This was in itself a radical deviation from the popular schools of psychology of his
day, Freud and Skinner who saw little difference between animalistic and humane motivations.
Maslow s hierarchy of needs was an alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The negative version of these needs is low self esteem and inferiority complexes. Maslow felt that
Adler was really onto something when he proposed that these were at the roots of many, if not most,
of our psychological problems. All of the preceding four levels he calls deficit needs, or D needs. If
you don t have enough of something i.e. you have a deficit you feel the need. But if you get all you
need, you feel nothing at all! In other words, they cease to be motivating. 5. Self Actualisation The
highest need in Maslow s hierarchy is the need to truly become what one is capable of becoming, to
maximize one s potential and to accomplish material manifestations of the promise of an individual.
People who have everything can maximize their potential. They can seek knowledge, peace, esthetic
experiences, self fulfillment, one ness with God, etc. In evaluating this need the individuals were
characteristic of a certain criterion. A few were that These people were reality centered, which means
they could differentiate what is fake and dishonest from what is real and genuine. They were problem
centered, meaning they treated life s difficulties as problems demanding solutions, not as personal
troubles to be railed at or surrendered to. And they had a different perception of means and ends. They
felt that the ends don t necessarily justify the means, that the means could be ends themselves, and

The Biopsychosocial Model Essay
INTRODUCTION Don t treat the disease, treat the patient [9]. The concept of health has seemed to
become complex in definition over the centuries as science improves. Health is a complete state of
physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity. World
Health Definition of Health (1948) [9] In order to understand health, different models or frameworks
for thinking have been developed which have been useful. The Biomedical model which evolved since
the 19th century from Galen s (Greek physician 200AD) concept of pathogen, focused on removing
the disease/disability and not on prevention or general well being [9]. The Biopsychosocial model
however, doesn t merely focus on the physical state of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is reductionist because it reduces illness to low level processes such as chemical imbalances,
pathogens, genetic predispositions and disorders. According to this model, individuals are not
responsible for illnesses caused by factors beyond their control and treatment should include
vaccination, surgery and the like which all aim to remove the cause of the illness. In this model of
practice, an individual can either be healthy or ill because there is no continuum. That a psychological
disorder can lead to an illness but there is no in between. The biomedical view thus identifies
treatment of various parts with the ultimate goal of a cure. If success in this model is defined as a cure,
death is defined as ultimate failure, to be avoided at all cost. Patients whose diseases cannot be cured
are deemed as incurable . [7] The Biopsychosocial (BPS) model greatly differs because while the
biomedical answers the main question why do people get sick? the BPS also answers the question why
else do people get sick? [9] According to the BPS model, the human being is complex and must be
understood as a whole. That there is a relationship between body, mind and environment and that one
aspect affects the others. Health and illness are caused by multiple factors and have multiple effects,

Mergers And Acquisitions Essay
Introduction Mergers and acquisitions immediately impact organizations with changes in ownership,
in ideology, and eventually, in practice. There are multiple reasons, motives, economic forces and
institutional factors that can, taken together or in isolation, influence corporate decisions to engage in
mergers or acquisitions. The financial risks of merging with or acquiring an organization in another
country and how those risks can be mitigated are important issues for corporations to conduct research
on. This paper will examine the sensible and dubious reasons for mergers and acquisitions and the
benefits and costs of the cash and stock transactions.

An Irrevocable Letter of Credit is a good option for both parties because it is a letter from a bank

financial instrument that can help organizations make sales to a foreign entity safely.
A few decades ago, some U.S. companies began to explore another takeover solution, namely partial
or total acquisition of independent non U.S. companies (Week 5, 2006). In this day, there are a

combinations of two U.S. multinationals, the percentage of international business being incorporated

Why Do People Go Into The Experience Machine
1. Nozick s Experience Machine thought experiment is supposed to demonstrate that humans are not
solely motivated by pleasure. Nozick states that humans would not go into the Experience Machine
because upon going into it or leaving, they would realize that the events that transpired were not real.
This small self doubt would ultimately make the individual using the machine feel as though
something is lacking and would lose the pleasure gained from the experience (p. 44). This then proves
that humans ultimately value other things higher than their own happiness. I object Nozick s statement
that nobody would choose to go into the Experience Machine. Given that utilitarians exist who believe
that the sole purpose in life is to maximize happiness, I believe that Nozick s assumption is too strong
and finite given the reasons that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each individual lives a very different life. Depending on how hard one s life in reality is, there will be
varying answers for the question that Nozick poses. If this question were to be asked to someone who
lives a life in which they are comfortably situated in, they are more likely to decline the offer to go
into the Experience Machine. However, in the event that someone lives a hard, painful life, such as
one riddled with disease or poverty, they would most likely choose to spend time in the Experience
Machine to escape the current state that they are in. For these individuals, it would not matter if they
would feel unfulfilled during or after the simulation is over, as they would be willing to sacrifice their
dignity to live a life of happiness, namely because they have relatively little to lose. This is seen in our
actual reality with those who suffer

The United Vs Federal Election Commission
Today s American society is plagued by the concept and the idea that the wealthy are secretly pulling
the strings behind every political action and every policy move made by our national government. The
government has preventative measures that prevent obscenely large donations from wealthy
businesses, labor unions, and individuals, right? Actually, that all changed in 2010 in a court case
called Citizens United vs Federal Election Commission (Hasen). The Supreme Court ruled that the
First Amendment barred a federal law preventing corporations and unions from spending their own
funds to influence the outcome of elections, which does not sound too horrific or detrimental does it
(Hasen)? Well, as Mr. Donald Trump would say: Wrong! This ruling allowed for the creation of a
horrific creation of what are now referred to as Super PACs. Super PACs are organizations that
operate independently from any candidate or political party. These organizations are allowed to
receive any amount of money from any person or organization, which they can they allot towards their
own support of a political candidate. A good example of this would be Mitt Romney s Super PAC
entitled Restore America, which spent over twelve million dollars launching an ad campaign that
attacked Newt Gingrich (MacMillen). These new Super PACs have no purpose other than to allow the
rich and wealthy to gain leverage in politics and to push their own agenda by throwing money at
candidates. Super PACs and PACs

Why Is Corporal Punishment Ineffective
Corporal Punishment Physical harm for actions deemed negative has been a part of human civilization
since the beginning of time. Corporal punishment is the act of inflicting physical pain onto another
because of their wrongdoing. It has been in the spotlight of intense scrutiny and defense since
psychology and the understanding of punishment in general has become more prevalent. It has been
used in almost all walks of human life. Schools, homes, jail, etc. have all used or still use corporal
punishment as a means of correcting a person s misbehavior. In this essay, I intend to defend both
sides with an objective perspective. Ultimately, though, I will show the reasoning for corporal
punishment being a barbaric, ineffective, and counterintuitive method of conditioning a person out of
negative behavior. To start, I will explain the basic violation of human rights with engaging in corporal
punishment. Corporal Punishment is a direct assault on the human dignity of the child and a direct
invasion of the child s physical integrity. (Anne Smith, 2011) A person has the rights to their own body
and their wellbeing as long as they are in a state of sanity. When an individual does something another
thinks is wrong it, in no way, warrants the assaulting of another individual. Unless, of course, the
individual is hurting another in a way physical violence is the only method of handling the issue. Why
does it not warrant it? If every human decided to physically assault every

How Does Hitchcock Create Suspense
Hitchcock s exploration of isolating behaviors extends beyond his guarded, prying protagonist. The
director emphasizes on the separation between the people by visually confining them to their own
spaces. The utilization of a Greenwich Village apartment is to represent the physical an emotional
distance between Jeff and his suspicious neighbors. This is seen in the scene when Jeff changes from
his binoculars to his long lens cameras, symbolizing the idea that Jeff will always be this far from the
community and ever any closer. A phallic symbol, t links this need for distance and power to his sense
of masculinity. Throughout the film, the auteur endorses the mundane neighborhood sounds of distant

concerned about the woman s anguish over her dog, but much more interested in proving to Doyle that
his hunch is correct. Hitchcock also accentuates this scene by employing the use of creating suspense
for the audience and then ripping I apart, not allowing it to end the way we want it to. It is unusual to
kill someone or something when they like you , reinforcing the idea that the dog was friendly to
everyone while the human beings in the courtyard are generally detached, the dog is the one who is
murdered. Even though Jeff and the audience are confronted with this scene, Hitchcock includes
contrast to Jeff s perspective and response to highlight his lack of connection with others and the
emotional isolation of one another. and Due to both the link between Jeff s fears and the lives of his
neighbors, as well as the humanization of Thorwald, the attack scene has overtones of a confrontation
with an alter ego. Th neighbor s apartment windows are framed to mimic television screens which

Hemophilia describes a group of sever congenital coagulation factor deficiencies. It is a lifelong

IV. Question 2 Compare and contrast Milton s Raphael with Pope s Ariel in as many respects as you
can. John Milton and Alexander Pope both write of supporting characters that are sent to protect the
main character in their stories. Both Ariel and Raphael have many similar qualities that make them a
character that is used to bring warning to the protagonist and to foreshadow to readers what the
outcome of the story will be. Ariel is a sylph, or a magical being that was a coquette in his life before.
Although this is distinctly different than Raphael s identity as one of God s angels, they share several
qualities. Both are described as being very friendly and gentle. Ariel warns Belinda through a dream in
attempt to protect her from the stealing of a lock of her hair. Raphael is sent to Eden to become friends
with Adam and to warn him of the sin that is lying in wait for them. Both of these guardians are
seeking protection for the human and desire for them to be kept from evil. They also try to relate to the
humans. Ariel understands Belinda s vanity and pride in her appearance because he once was a
coquette as well. He even assists in her thorough morning routine. Raphael is also able to relate to
Adam through the discussion of love. Adam asks him about angel s love lives and Raphael is able to

The Blue Mask by Lou Reed
Lou Reed s, The Blue Mask
Although the visionary singer, song writer, Lou Reed, gained his fame in the 70 s, he reached the
highest peak of his career with the album The Blue Mask, in which he explored the elements of human
flaws. With this album, he stripped down from his dramatic work in the 70 s and explored new
techniques along with his small, tight knit band. The Blue Mask received excellent reviews from
critics and consumers because it allowed listeners to have a personal connection with Reed and
showed them a different side apart from the public persona. Overall, the achievements and praise were
well deserved for the hard work he and his band put in.
Lou Reed, a New York native, attended the University of Syracuse and studied poetry and journalism.
He later became the lead singer for the band, Velvet Underground during the 60 s. He is commonly
known today as the one who started the punk rock era and also brought a stormy dissonance to the

Inexperience In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is considered one of the greatest works of gothic literature. Frankenstein,
or the Modern Prometheus, tells the story of an ambitious young scientist named Victor Frankenstein.
During his time at university, Dr. Frankenstein decides to take on a daring project, attempting to create
life. After spending months laboring, he finally achieves his goal, but realizes that he has made a grave
mistake. Throughout the rest of the story, Frankenstein s monster terrorizes and murders the rest of
Victor s friends and family until he is left alone in world. Mary Shelley was 19 years old when she
wrote this novel. Though it is, to this day, still considered to be one of the greatest works of gothic
literature of all time, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Choice of language is one of the many ways one character can be distinguished from another. If all the
novel s characters speak in the same manner, there won t be many ways to tell them apart. The way a
person speaks can give insight on their personality, upbringing and, even something as simple as age.
Shelley s characters all seem to speak with the same manner of speech. They all sound like they are
from upper class families. It s hard to distinguish one from the other without indicators. The perfect
example in this is found with Frankenstein s monster. He learned to speak from books and listening to
the people who lived in the cottage he hid behind. This family would certainly would not have spoken
in the same fashion the Frankenstein family did. Yet, when the monster speaks he sounds like Victor
Frankenstein, an upper class gentleman. You also find this issue with William Frankenstein, Victor s
younger brother. William is supposed to be six years old. His speech, however, is that of someone
three times his age. William Frankenstein talks like everyone else in the book. Thus, it s hard to
imagine him as a child. This is what makes novels so unique and a character s speech so important.
The only image the reader has of these people is that which is created in their minds. When a young
boy talks like a man, it s hard to see him as a young boy. The image is distorted. Authors who have
been writing for a long time know this and try to match their writing to their character s personality to
provide a clearer characterization for their

Plato The Shackles
In Book 1 of Plato s The Republic, Socrates asks Cephalus about the difficulty of old age, as Cephalus
has reached the threshold of death and is therefore suited to speak upon age. Cephalus explains that
older people tend to be more peaceful because youthful desires like sex, partying, and drinking
constrain many people to temporal pleasure, but age releases them from those shackles. These
youthful desires are later treated as shackles that constrain many people to temporal pleasures. By
introducing these metaphorical shackles in the first discussion of The Republic, Plato foreshadows and
parallels the cave allegory that appears in Book 7 (Plato 3). In the cave allegory, people are chained
inside a cave and their knowledge is limited to only what they can see: the images of shadows casted
by statues. But once a philosopher enters, the prisoners are released from the shackles, exposed to the
light, and they themselves become philosophers. But the process does not stop there; the new
philosophers adopt altruism, going back to the cave to free the other prisoners ... Show more content

He introduces the struggle of classism when he notes that age isn t easy for a good man if he s poor
(3). This statement connecting age and class further demonstrates the timeless issue with money and
material possessions in society. Plato states that money is a requirement for old age to be enjoyable
and enlightening. But money is the same item that lures people into the chains of obsession. So those
wishing to enjoy a pleasurable old age free from glutinous desire must maintain wealth. But wealth
often diminishes character, causing people to become greedy and corrupt. Nevertheless, old age acts

A Look into Calvin Klein’s Advertisements Essays
A Look into Calvin Klein s Advertisements
As a seductive young man looks into a camera a raspy voice, off camera, whispers, You got a real nice

You work out? I can tell. No, it s not straight out of a steamy romance novel, though it could be. This
is just one example of how provocative Calvin Klein s advertisements have been. Although the ads
boosted sales for the Calvin Klein empire, it angered many parents, religious groups, and even the

And that their advertising explodes on the media scene.
Calvin Klein eventually dropped the $6 million dollar campaign after the advertisements were accused
of violating child pornography laws. On September 8 the Justice Department began looking into
claims that the ads used young models posed in a provocative manner. A Calvin Klein spokeswoman
stated that only one of the models used in their ads was under the age of 18. The fifteen year old girl
that was in his ads was Bijou Phillips, whose mother was aware of the ad and was proud of her
daughter.
If the parents of the teen models allowed their children to pose for the advertisements, who are we to
blame the CK company for using them. Who are we to look down on Calvin Klein s ads when you can
watch any show on prime time TV and see much worse than what the ads portrayed? Who are we to
suggest that the ads are suggestive when all we know is that, in advertising, sex sells and sells big? Isn
t Calvin Klein just giving the public what it wants?
Calvin Klein has publicly stated that the misunderstood ads had been intended to convey the spirit,
independence, and inner worth of today s young people. Personally, I do not really buy that argument.

colonial period began and immigration to the States was pushed in many different aspects of everyday
Filipino culture. Another reason for leaving the Philippines was due to the economic problems many
had in the Philippines. America was advertised as the Land of Paradise on posters all throughout the
Philippines, and many labor recruiters assured natives that money could be made quickly in the states.
The first batch of Filipino immigrants who ended up in San Francisco was relatively small and

expensive to pay for and was a long distance from home. The trip from the Philippines to San
Francisco took nearly a month by ship, meaning their stay would be long term. Those brave enough to
travel to America did so in hopes of living a more prosperous life than they did in the Philippines.
Of the immigrants that arrived in San Francisco, a good number of them ended up relocating to states
with more of a focus on agriculture, where they were responsible for taking care of the fields.
However, there were a number of those who preferred urban life that ended up staying in San

Affirmative Action Should Not Be A Program
Combat racism, with more racism. That is a strategy that seems so backward in thought that it should
not be a program in modern American government and yet is still very active today. Affirmative action
is defined as the practice of improving the educational and job opportunities of members of groups
that have not been treated fairly in the past because of their race, sex, etc (Merriam Webster).
Affirmative action creates a blatantly unfair advantage in college and job applications to non minority
races and is ultimately a racist law. Affirmative action is most prominent in the College admission
process, where its racial prioritizing is the most blatant. In 2005, it was found that the acceptance rates
for African Americans at MIT were 98.7% higher than the acceptance rates for Whites or Asians
(College Admission Officers). Affirmative Action was passed in 1961 by John Fitzgerald Kennedy to
combat racial tensions in college admissions and the workforce. It gave an opportunity to minorities
that may have been previously set back from racist laws and rules to have a chance at changing their
lives for the better. This artificial raising of minority opportunities has lasted for more than two
generations and has long outlived its purpose. Affirmative Action in its modern day use is racist at the
expense of the non minority race(s), and was meant for minority advancement in a world where it was
almost impossible. Today, all races are equal in the eyes of all the

did not believe in the importance of education because they were not convinced that education was a

Phutsok s parents encouraged him to obtain an education by sending him to the monk with his uncle.

considering that the death of his uncle meant that he left the monastery. If Phutsok truly wanted to

Pagodas are a well known kind of architectural building that is located all throughout the country of
China. Pagodas have a rich history to China as well, and they have been built all throughout Chinese
history, as many look unique and different, due to their respective dynasties having major differences
in how they built them. While other countries also have pagodas, we will be focusing only on China s.
The first type of pagoda that is considered to be one of the earliest known is called the close eaved

the Henan Province of China. The pagoda has twelve sides, built entirely out of blue bricks, and
stands at forty one meters tall while containing fifteen close eaves. It was built in 523 A.D., and it has
ten floors with octagon shaped rooms that are connected by wooden stairs. It could be speculated that
the pagoda was built in a special way, as it came before concrete was dreamed of, and it is still

Roman Arch Essay
During the Roman Empire, the original arch was redesigned to be strong and support large structures.
In the original arch, various rectangle shaped bricks were haphazardly stacked on each other with
hopes of at most supporting a small room. However, the redesigned arch used precisely measured
polyhedrons and trapezoidal prisms in a specific way to support each other. This developed arch led to
the creation of larger builders, aqueducts, and tunnels. Many empires proceeding the Romans adapted
this design to fit their specific and different needs, and arches are still used today. Therefore, using
basic geometric shapes, the people in the Roman Empire revolutionized the arch forever. The Roman
Empire did not create the arch in 23 CE (Ambler). However, they adapted it from a weak arch that
could barely support a small building. Before the Roman Empire, the original arch design was
corbeled with congruent rectangular prisms. A corbeled arch is an arch where stones are laid so they
move toward the center as they move higher (Ambler). Each rectangular prism has the properties of
parallelograms, which are that opposite sides are congruent, and diagonals bisect each other, as well as
all angles in the rectangle, are right angles, and the diagonals are congruent. The congruent ... Show

Summary Of Marriage By Gregory Corso Marriage
Marriage has been a heated controversy for the past few years because people often marry for the
wrong reasons. Anyone who thinks of an ideal marriage would think of two people loving each other
and sharing a personal bond or goals together. Marriage is regularly defined as the legally or formally
recognized union of two lovers as partners in a personal relationship. This definition remarks there is
an actual connection between two people in marriage, but do people actually consider this when
committing to love and support their partners forever? As research and studies have shown, people
ultimately get married for many reasons, except love. This philosophy can be easily applied to the
short poem, Marriage by Gregory Corso. In this emotional poem, the author argues marriage is more
effectively understood or known for culture and convenience rather than through the abstract
considerations of love. Here, we can identify people generally decide to marry for the incorrect
reasons, for instance the story of the author himself. Corso finds himself confused multiple times,
wondering if he should marry to not be lonely, for tradition and for his physical and mental health. He
disregards love, a relationship or a connection with his future wife. General ways of convenience like
loneliness, health and economic status between cultural stereotypes and religion are usually the true
reasons of why people chose to have the commitment of marriage with another person.

The Issue of Prayer in Schools
Often, as was the case of the abolition of slavery in our country, it seems that courts ratified change
that had already occurred in the ethos of the national culture and consciousness of the nation after the
tide had already turned. This is the case with the issue of prayer in schools and the separation of
church and state in general.
As much as the history of court cases is good evidence for the separation of church and state and with
it the denial of prayer in schools, supporters of prayer in public schools can and do make the argument
that the intention of the Founding Father s of this nation was to form a nation centered around prayer
and Biblical instruction with it s accompanying values. Their understanding of religious freedom was
no doubt defined and acted out in the context of their culture and religious influences. Courts of their
day certainly did not push back against the integration of church and state as we think of it today. Why
else would the countries oldest and now most prestigious institutions have their roots founded in the
preparation of clergy for religious work? Harvard, Yale and Princeton, among other great universities,
were actually built for the purpose of raising up educated pastors. Use the david lose inside quote

The Behavior and Study of Particles Essay
Particles are a very important part of this world. From the particles that make up all the humans in the
world to the particles that make up the clothes we wear. Particles define the world we live in and
everything we know about it. From the behavior of particles, scientists can determine many things
about the world and the way it works. The simple definition of a particle is that it is a minute portion
of matter. While not incorrect this answer lacks complexity. As was previously stated, particles make
up everything; but, they also make up even the most basic form of matter the atom. Protons, neutrons,
and electrons are all particles that make up an atom. Protons and neutrons themselves are made of
individual particles called quarks. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mesons, made of quark pairs, are usually found in cosmic rays. Quarks combine to form charges of 1,
0, or +1. Quarks in Baryons and Mesons are bound together by strong forces formed from the
exchange of gluons. Much like how the electromagnetic force strength is determined by the amount of
electric charge, the strong force strength is determined by a new quantity called color charge.
(abyss.uoregon.edu)
Quarks come in three colors, red, blue, and green. Although the implication is that quarks are colored,
these terms are not meant to indicate a particular hue but instead describe the color of the charge of the
quark. So, unlike electromagnetic charges which come in two types (positive and negative or north
and south), color charge in quarks comes in three types. Color charge also has its anti particle nature.
So there is anti red, anti blue and anti green. Gluons serve to act as the carrier of the color when they
interact with quarks. Baryons and mesons must have a mix of colors such that the result is white. For
example, red, blue, and green make white. Also red and anti red make white. (abyss.uoregon.edu)
There can exist no free quarks; meaning no quarks can exist on their own. All quarks must be bound to
another quark or antiquark by the exchange of gluons. This is called quark confinement. The exchange
of gluons produces a color force field, referring to the assignment of color charge to quarks, similar to
electric charge. The

The Lion King s Model Of The Hero s Journey Push An...
Now that we have applied Joseph Campbell s model to the Lion King, we have an answer to our
research question: Does the Lion King s use of the Hero s Journey push an agenda towards adults of
previous life experiences that are noteworthy, while still maintaining young children as the target
audience ? Yes, although it is a children s movie, it does push an agenda towards adults. We have
covered a couple out of several lessons the directors fixed to the audience. We can now draw three
important implications of this analysis. The Lion King campaigns for an environmental improvement
before it is too late, a spiritual calling to build upon a relationship with the religion each one of us
practices and a cinematic implication of CGI.
Initially, the Lion King makes a call to the audience for environmental improvement. As Simba is
overlooking the kingdom, we are shown a dry terrain and dead trees. We first need to understand how
global warming happens, and what are greenhouse gases. The greenhouse effect is when the Earth s
atmosphere trap heat by specific gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. IPCC 2013

  • 2. Personal Narrative-Switch Switch. As I look up at the burnt orange sky I feel like I could forget where I am and what I am. I love watching the sky, during the day, at night, at sunrise and sunset there isn t one time the sky disappoints me. As I walk home from college and watch the sunset morph I can t help but feel blessed, everything still isn t perfect but it s going to be. I stretch at the starting line and take in the scene around me, the green of the trees, the sea of blue above me and the sea of colour on the people. There s a crowd of smiles and the atmosphere is buzzing. I hear the gun and like a tidal wave I m swept away and lost in a crowd of athletes, I m not an athlete but I promised myself November of last year I d lose the weight and run. I look to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I hear a clap of thunder and slam my book shut. My Mom jumps, I tell her to stay here. I go to the kitchen, she s screaming at me, I don t care. I walk out the front door and I feel the first drop of rain hit my head. I pause and look up toward the sky: the sky doesn t care about what I am or what I do. I run to his house and twist the worn knob of his door, I m not stopped. I open the door to find him in the kitchen, a look of surprise on his face he goes to yell but is stopped by the cold stainless steel piercing his abdomen. I take in the stale stench of his room and the vision of his helpless large body hit the cold concreted floor. I walk to the door, lock it and close it. I hit an icy wall or rain and let the pure water trickle down me. I hear the cries of my mother but I cannot help but smile. • 3. Digestion Lab Report Science Script Introduction; Everyday, we eat and drink, often taking it for granted. Most people disregard what happens within our body during digestion process, So, what really happens in our body when we digest? Scene 1; Mouth Digestion first begins in the mouth, using mechanical digestion. Incisors first bite into the food breaking the polymers into smaller monomers. As the food goes further into your mouth the food is then ground by your molars. This breaks down the food into smaller particles, which is then mixed by the tongue along with saliva. Saliva is secreted by the salivary glands into the mouth, and this saliva contains enzymes to help break down the food. Complex carbohydrates, such as starch or glycogen, will be broken down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the bolus enters the stomach, the lower oesophageal sphincter contracts to prevent acid reflux. Folds in the stomach allow for the stomach to expand as the stomach fills. The stomach excretes hydrochloric acid and other enzymes which allow for the break down of the bolus, as well as mucus to help protect the lining of the stomach walls against the stomach acid. Protein digestion begins in the stomach, where stomach acid of pH of 1 disrupts protein structure which allows for proteolytic enzymes, also known as proteases, to reduce large proteins to polypeptides (Human Anatomy). Stomach acid has numerous jobs in the breaking down of the bolus such as; rendering minerals more soluble, maintains acidity, killing microbes and converts inactive digestive enzymes to their active form. The muscle contractions in the stomach causes the bolus to turn into chyme, a food mixture with a watery like texture. The chyme now enters the small intestine through the pyloric sphincter at the base of the stomach, which regulates the rate at which chyme is released into the small ... • 4. The Importance Of Self Reflection Peoples appearances in todays society is based upon the clothes they decided to wear that morning, the hairstyle they spent hours on doing and the hours that they would never get back deciding what pattern would look cute to wear on the outside of their skin, bedazzled with sterling silver. With no anticipation of being stereotyped people continuously repeat these actions in the purpose of self satisfaction or expression. The two articles referred to in this essay provides personal experiences of the causes in self reflection decisions in addition to a medical perspective on why sometimes the risk outweighs the rewards. In fact, in the Article Dredlocked: You see my hair, but do you see me? by Veronica Chambers she gives a backstory on how her hair was portrayed her whole life as bad , nappy , or hard and short . She continues more in depth on how she was surrounded by others whose hair was straightened into acceptance. Her family, best friend and the doll barbie was even mentioned as a example of her surroundings that belittled her hair texture. Sharing a story that took place her junior year in college onNew Year s Eve, Chambers took action in regards to twisting her hair. She long waited for a call from a boy that was never received. Previously inspired months before by a model on the front cover of essence, she forwarded to imitating the locks flowing with all the majesty seen on Alice Walker. In the process of twisting her hair, she quoted a saying her mother told her for motivation However New Year s catches you is how you ll spend the year . After hours spent on her hair the first response was given by her aunt shaking her head in disapproval. Stereotypes flowed in more than ever. She was called a Rasta mama , Nubian princess , drug dealer , unemployed artist , nature chick , rock star , and people even inferred that she smoked weed and listened to Bob Marley. Chambers told herself that twisting her hair started a process of seeing beauty where no one had ever seen it before . Chambers withstood the negative and complementing stereotypes in regards to her own self satisfaction. Her satisfaction of her self expression was all the justification she needed, she no longer attempted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Needs Hierarchy Theory of Motivation a. One of the most widely mentioned theories of motivation is the hierarchy of needs theory put forth by psychologist Abraham Maslow. He was known for establishing the theory of a hierarchy, writing that the needs of human beings can act as motivators when those very needs remain unsatisfied. In order to address a need of a higher level, the immediate lower level of need must be satisfied initially. Maslow s studied extensively exemplary people like Einstein, Roosevelt rather than mentally ill or neurotic people. This was in itself a radical deviation from the popular schools of psychology of his day, Freud and Skinner who saw little difference between animalistic and humane motivations. Maslow s hierarchy of needs was an alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The negative version of these needs is low self esteem and inferiority complexes. Maslow felt that Adler was really onto something when he proposed that these were at the roots of many, if not most, of our psychological problems. All of the preceding four levels he calls deficit needs, or D needs. If you don t have enough of something i.e. you have a deficit you feel the need. But if you get all you need, you feel nothing at all! In other words, they cease to be motivating. 5. Self Actualisation The highest need in Maslow s hierarchy is the need to truly become what one is capable of becoming, to maximize one s potential and to accomplish material manifestations of the promise of an individual. People who have everything can maximize their potential. They can seek knowledge, peace, esthetic experiences, self fulfillment, one ness with God, etc. In evaluating this need the individuals were characteristic of a certain criterion. A few were that These people were reality centered, which means they could differentiate what is fake and dishonest from what is real and genuine. They were problem centered, meaning they treated life s difficulties as problems demanding solutions, not as personal troubles to be railed at or surrendered to. And they had a different perception of means and ends. They felt that the ends don t necessarily justify the means, that the means could be ends themselves, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The concept of health has seemed to become complex in definition over the centuries as science improves. Health is a complete state of physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity. World Health Definition of Health (1948) [9] In order to understand health, different models or frameworks for thinking have been developed which have been useful. The Biomedical model which evolved since the 19th century from Galen s (Greek physician 200AD) concept of pathogen, focused on removing the disease/disability and not on prevention or general well being [9]. In this model of practice, an individual can either be healthy or ill because there is no continuum. That a psychological disorder can lead to an illness but there is no in between. The biomedical view thus identifies treatment of various parts with the ultimate goal of a cure. • 12. Why Do People Go Into The Experience Machine 1. Nozick s Experience Machine thought experiment is supposed to demonstrate that humans are not solely motivated by pleasure. Nozick states that humans would not go into the Experience Machine because upon going into it or leaving, they would realize that the events that transpired were not real. This small self doubt would ultimately make the individual using the machine feel as though something is lacking and would lose the pleasure gained from the experience (p. 44). This then proves that humans ultimately value other things higher than their own happiness. I object Nozick s statement that nobody would choose to go into the Experience Machine. The government has preventative measures that prevent obscenely large donations from wealthy businesses, labor unions, and individuals, right? Actually, that all changed in 2010 in a court case called Citizens United vs Federal Election Commission (Hasen). The Supreme Court ruled that the First Amendment barred a federal law preventing corporations and unions from spending their own funds to influence the outcome of elections, which does not sound too horrific or detrimental does it (Hasen)? Corporal punishment is the act of inflicting physical pain onto another because of their wrongdoing. It has been in the spotlight of intense scrutiny and defense since psychology and the understanding of punishment in general has become more prevalent. It has been used in almost all walks of human life. Schools, homes, jail, etc. have all used or still use corporal punishment as a means of correcting a person s misbehavior. In this essay, I intend to defend both sides with an objective perspective. Ultimately, though, I will show the reasoning for corporal punishment being a barbaric, ineffective, and counterintuitive method of conditioning a person out of negative behavior. To start, I will explain the basic violation of human rights with engaging in corporal punishment. Corporal Punishment is a direct assault on the human dignity of the child and a direct invasion of the child s physical integrity. (Anne Smith, 2011) A person has the rights to their own body and their wellbeing as long as they are in a state of sanity. When an individual does something another thinks is wrong it, in no way, warrants the assaulting of another individual. John Milton and Alexander Pope both write of supporting characters that are sent to protect the main character in their stories. Both Ariel and Raphael have many similar qualities that make them a character that is used to bring warning to the protagonist and to foreshadow to readers what the outcome of the story will be. Ariel is a sylph, or a magical being that was a coquette in his life before. Although this is distinctly different than Raphael s identity as one of God s angels, they share several qualities. Both are described as being very friendly and gentle. Ariel warns Belinda through a dream in attempt to protect her from the stealing of a lock of her hair. Raphael is sent to Eden to become friends with Adam and to warn him of the sin that is lying in wait for them. Both of these guardians are seeking protection for the human and desire for them to be kept from evil. They also try to relate to the humans. Plato The Shackles In Book 1 of Plato s The Republic, Socrates asks Cephalus about the difficulty of old age, as Cephalus has reached the threshold of death and is therefore suited to speak upon age. These youthful desires are later treated as shackles that constrain many people to temporal pleasures. By introducing these metaphorical shackles in the first discussion of The Republic, Plato foreshadows and parallels the cave allegory that appears in Book 7 (Plato 3). In the cave allegory, people are chained inside a cave and their knowledge is limited to only what they can see: the images of shadows casted by statues. • 26. Affirmative Action Should Not Be A Program Combat racism, with more racism. That is a strategy that seems so backward in thought that it should not be a program in modern American government and yet is still very active today. Affirmative action is defined as the practice of improving the educational and job opportunities of members of groups that have not been treated fairly in the past because of their race, sex, etc (Merriam Webster). Affirmative action creates a blatantly unfair advantage in college and job applications to non minority races and is ultimately a racist law. Affirmative action is most prominent in the College admission process, where its racial prioritizing is the most blatant. In 2005, it was found that the acceptance rates for African Americans at MIT were 98.7% higher than the acceptance rates for Whites or Asians (College Admission Officers). Affirmative Action was passed in 1961 by John Fitzgerald Kennedy to combat racial tensions in college admissions and the workforce. It gave an opportunity to minorities that may have been previously set back from racist laws and rules to have a chance at changing their lives for the better. This artificial raising of minority opportunities has lasted for more than two generations and has long outlived its purpose. Affirmative Action in its modern day use is racist at the expense of the non minority race(s), and was meant for minority advancement in a world where it was almost impossible. Today, all races are equal in the eyes of all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Palden Gyatso, Tashi Tsering, and Phutsok all had different levels of ambition that was influenced and challenged by parental authority figures. Palden Gyatso s strive for education could be described as moderate because while he wanted to become a monk, he did not bother to figure out how one becomes a monk. This is unusual considering that Tashi s father was one of three literate men in their town. Tashi s father may have been influenced by the other Tibetan s idea of education. Tibetans did not believe in the importance of education because they were not convinced that education was a means of raising one s social or economic position. Tibetan society determined a person s rank in life and Tibetans were not willing to leave their places in their traditional way of life. While Tashi s mother and father were not willing to give Tashi an education, his aunt does teach him the alphabet. On the other hand, Phutsok s ambition for education was not hindered by his parental figures at all. Phutsok s parents encouraged him to obtain an education by sending him to the monk with his uncle. However, the level of importance Phutsok placed in terms of education is questionable when considering that the death of his uncle meant that he left the monastery. If Phutsok truly wanted to further his education, he would have tried different means in order to be allowed to stay at the monastery. • 34. Roman Arch Essay During the Roman Empire, the original arch was redesigned to be strong and support large structures. In the original arch, various rectangle shaped bricks were haphazardly stacked on each other with hopes of at most supporting a small room. However, the redesigned arch used precisely measured polyhedrons and trapezoidal prisms in a specific way to support each other. This developed arch led to the creation of larger builders, aqueducts, and tunnels. Many empires proceeding the Romans adapted this design to fit their specific and different needs, and arches are still used today. Therefore, using basic geometric shapes, the people in the Roman Empire revolutionized the arch forever. The Roman Empire did not create the arch in 23 CE (Ambler). However, they adapted it from a weak arch that could barely support a small building. Before the Roman Empire, the original arch design was corbeled with congruent rectangular prisms. A corbeled arch is an arch where stones are laid so they move toward the center as they move higher (Ambler). Each rectangular prism has the properties of parallelograms, which are that opposite sides are congruent, and diagonals bisect each other, as well as all angles in the rectangle, are right angles, and the diagonals are congruent. • 35. Summary Of Marriage By Gregory Corso Marriage Marriage has been a heated controversy for the past few years because people often marry for the wrong reasons. Anyone who thinks of an ideal marriage would think of two people loving each other and sharing a personal bond or goals together. Marriage is regularly defined as the legally or formally recognized union of two lovers as partners in a personal relationship. This definition remarks there is an actual connection between two people in marriage, but do people actually consider this when committing to love and support their partners forever? As research and studies have shown, people ultimately get married for many reasons, except love. This philosophy can be easily applied to the short poem, Marriage by Gregory Corso. In this emotional poem, the author argues marriage is more effectively understood or known for culture and convenience rather than through the abstract considerations of love. Here, we can identify people generally decide to marry for the incorrect reasons, for instance the story of the author himself. Corso finds himself confused multiple times, wondering if he should marry to not be lonely, for tradition and for his physical and mental health. He disregards love, a relationship or a connection with his future wife. General ways of convenience like loneliness, health and economic status between cultural stereotypes and religion are usually the true reasons of why people chose to have the commitment of marriage with another person. • 36. The Issue of Prayer in Schools Often, as was the case of the abolition of slavery in our country, it seems that courts ratified change that had already occurred in the ethos of the national culture and consciousness of the nation after the tide had already turned. This is the case with the issue of prayer in schools and the separation of church and state in general. As much as the history of court cases is good evidence for the separation of church and state and with it the denial of prayer in schools, supporters of prayer in public schools can and do make the argument that the intention of the Founding Father s of this nation was to form a nation centered around prayer and Biblical instruction with it s accompanying values. Their understanding of religious freedom was no doubt defined and acted out in the context of their culture and religious influences. Courts of their day certainly did not push back against the integration of church and state as we think of it today. Why else would the countries oldest and now most prestigious institutions have their roots founded in the preparation of clergy for religious work? Harvard, Yale and Princeton, among other great universities, were actually built for the purpose of raising up educated pastors. Use the david lose inside quote Proponents of prayer in schools will no doubt point to reverse discrimination or infringement upon their own religious freedom if they or their children are not allowed to express their faith by praying in public. • 37. The Behavior and Study of Particles Essay Particles are a very important part of this world. From the particles that make up all the humans in the world to the particles that make up the clothes we wear. Particles define the world we live in and everything we know about it. From the behavior of particles, scientists can determine many things about the world and the way it works. The simple definition of a particle is that it is a minute portion of matter. While not incorrect this answer lacks complexity. As was previously stated, particles make up everything; but, they also make up even the most basic form of matter the atom. Protons, neutrons, and electrons are all particles that make up an atom. Protons and neutrons themselves are made of individual particles called quarks. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mesons, made of quark pairs, are usually found in cosmic rays. Quarks combine to form charges of 1, 0, or +1. Quarks in Baryons and Mesons are bound together by strong forces formed from the exchange of gluons. Much like how the electromagnetic force strength is determined by the amount of electric charge, the strong force strength is determined by a new quantity called color charge. (abyss.uoregon.edu) Quarks come in three colors, red, blue, and green. Although the implication is that quarks are colored, these terms are not meant to indicate a particular hue but instead describe the color of the charge of the quark. So, unlike electromagnetic charges which come in two types (positive and negative or north and south), color charge in quarks comes in three types. Color charge also has its anti particle nature. So there is anti red, anti blue and anti green. Gluons serve to act as the carrier of the color when they interact with quarks. Baryons and mesons must have a mix of colors such that the result is white. For example, red, blue, and green make white. Also red and anti red make white. (abyss.uoregon.edu) There can exist no free quarks; meaning no quarks can exist on their own. All quarks must be bound to another quark or antiquark by the exchange of gluons. This is called quark confinement. The exchange of gluons produces a color force field, referring to the assignment of color charge to quarks, similar to electric charge. The ... • 38. The Lion King s Model Of The Hero s Journey Push An... Now that we have applied Joseph Campbell s model to the Lion King, we have an answer to our research question: Does the Lion King s use of the Hero s Journey push an agenda towards adults of previous life experiences that are noteworthy, while still maintaining young children as the target audience ? Yes, although it is a children s movie, it does push an agenda towards adults. We have covered a couple out of several lessons the directors fixed to the audience. We can now draw three important implications of this analysis. The Lion King campaigns for an environmental improvement before it is too late, a spiritual calling to build upon a relationship with the religion each one of us practices and a cinematic implication of CGI. Initially, the Lion King makes a call to the audience for environmental improvement. As Simba is overlooking the kingdom, we are shown a dry terrain and dead trees. We first need to understand how global warming happens, and what are greenhouse gases. The greenhouse effect is when the Earth s atmosphere trap heat by specific gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. IPCC 2013 report that Earth s average temperature may increase one and a half to four and half degrees Celsius by 2060. In addition, the current increase in the average temperature from 1850 to the present, about .06 Celsius, has ninety five percent chance of being from human activity.
