Analysis Of Strictly Ballroom
Strictly Ballroom employs the dance medium to effectively create characterisation, the plot and a
clash of cultures. Dance is used to explore character s feelings and struggles at a point in time to
further enhance the plot. It is used to show attributes and emotions of characters and provides
examples of clashing cultures though dance.
Dance is the focus of Strictly Ballroom as the film follows young ballroom dancer Scott Hastings who
is going through a personal struggle to stick to regulation steps, and therefore dance is integral to the
plot. Dance is the focus of the film it explores the characters, for instance Scott uses dance to advance
as a character. In the beginning, he tries to break free through dance, then as he dances on the rooftop
with Fran he breaks free to an extent. Dance is used to as a device for characters to use to help set
them free form their troubles as this is used the plot is advanced. Dance is the characters lives the
different styles in the movie represent different emotional states they are in and this further continues
the plot as they face their personal struggles.
The film strictly ballroom encourages the viewer to relate to the journey experienced by Scott and
Fran in the film. The viewer relates to the non conformity, self expression and individuality that dance
creates which enhances characterisation. Scott is short tempered and stubborn and this shown in his
dancing at the beginning of the film. His dance sticks to regulation steps

Life Of St. Francis Of Assisi
Throughout St. Francis of Assisi s life, many events took place that made him into the Saint that he is
known as today. The main theme in Francis life to me was choosing to leave back his life of luxury
and social status to devote his life to christianity through poverty. Everything else in Francis life and
conversion was a result of this one decision that he had made. Growing up, St. Francis of Assisi was
mostly known for his life of partying and drinking. Francis father was a clot seller, who also owned
large farmlands throughout Assisi. Francis mom was a pretty french women. Once Francis was 14, he
was already dropped out of school and became known for his excessive drinking, partying and
ignoring the city s curfew. Francis was

Multicultural Psychology Essay
The methodical study of human behavior in situations in which people from different cultural
backgrounds interact defines multicultural psychology. Many consider multicultural psychology a
fourth force in psychology study. Communication, interactions, research, and investigations into
human behaviors give insight into how different cultures interact socially and how they live among the
different ethnic groups. Many issues have emerged in multicultural psychology. Two issues discussed
in this paper, cultural identity and baby boomers, describe some of the effects on multicultural
psychology.

norms that are the basic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As each group processes distinct characteristics, a constant exchange happens and the original cultural
beliefs and make up of the culture begins to be changed for one or both groups. The impact, either
negative or positive for both cultural groups will result in a congruent blending of each culture or a
cultural breakdown or confusion of one s culture. A person may have to choose whether he or she
want to or not and the expectations of his or her own culture may cause identity crisis (Shvoong,
2010).
Baby Boomers
Baby Boomers or the sandwich generation defined as adults between the ages of 45 and 55, who
married later in life, and raising children as well as caring for aging adults will impact future society.
The impact of these demographic changes has resulted in changing ideas in the expectation of
childcare, elderly care, and the role of woman. Most Baby Boomers have higher education, both
partners work fulltime in jobs held for more than one year and confidently and competently care for
both children under age of 21 and elderly parents under one roof (Belden, Russonello, Stewart and
Research/Strategy/Management, 2001). .Baby Boomers getting older will begin to have health
problems may entertain the thought of retiring from work and will live longer. Many have adapted
healthier lifestyles and could live longer and work beyond age 65. Those choosing to work longer will
have a significant effect on the economic growth

Traditional Education Vs Progressive Education

Education; Something that once appeared to be so simple as a child. Throughout the growth in
knowledge as well in maturity, the rigors of higher education as well as an appreciation of the theories
that have lead everyone, who has had the privilege of receiving education, to contest to their personal
views of education. Over the course of eight weeks, the focus on Juggling in the classroom as well as
John Dewey s Experience Education has undoubtedly opened a new path for the learning process. The
task of juggling in the classroom has further reinforced the ideology Dewey has written within his
text. The duration of the first six chapters of his novel have had a direct correlation to the theory of
juggling in the classroom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juggling in the class is a tool that can be used to prove that any person can be taught something, but
until they have the true passion to exceed it is simply not feasible.
The average lifespan for humans continue to expand everyday, and within that time frame learning is
accomplished in both a positive and negative manner. In Dewey s second chapter The Need of a
Theory of Experience , the concept of a mis educative experience as well as an educative experience
are equally discussed. The claim that Dewey makes on page twenty five reads: Any experience is mis
educative that has the effect of arresting or distorting the growth of further education. . From this
viewpoint, the conclusion that any human being throughout history has acquired at least one mis
educative experience can be made. From the classroom perspective, any student that learns in only a
singular manner may be classified as having a mis educative experience because a teacher typically
only shows a singular way to solve a problem such as in mathematics, view a poem in literature, or
interpret data in science. The reason for this being a negative process is students may not have the
ability to adapt to the lessons that they are learning in a style that is more suited to their needs.
Throughout the time spent juggling in class, what I have began to notice includes the concepts that
one has a chance to learn in an incorrect manner; however, they neglect to know that their execution

Male and Female Relations in To The Lighthouse
To The Lighthouse exemplifies the condition of women when Woolf was writing and to some extent
yet today. It offers a solution to remedy the condition of both men and women. To say the novel is a
cry for a change in attitude towards women is not quite correct. It shows the plight of both men and
women and how patriarchy is detrimental to both genders. Mrs. Ramsey. Both suffer from the unequal
division of gender power in Woolf s society. Lily is also very much a product of society, yet she has
new ideas for the role of women and produces one answer to the problems of gender power. Besides
providing these examples of patriarchy, To The Lighthouse examines the tenacity of human ... Show

Losing personality, one lost the fret, the furry , the stir (Lighthouse 63). When alone Mrs. Ramsey
must lose her personality because it is a show, a created essence which takes work to maintain. A
symbol of this is apparent when Mrs. Ramsey covers the skull in her children s room. She covers the
reality with a veil, much like all men and women cover their true identity in order to play the role
patriarchal society has given to them. Mrs. Ramsey even avoids looking at her own face in the mirror.
Is it possible that she would not even recognize herself? I think, yes, because she does not have a fixed
identity. She does not know who she is or what she really looks like. She must change in every
situation, with every different man she is expected to support.
Mrs. Ramsey supports these men in her life because that is the only way she can create an identity.
Woolf suggests that even this support may be false. Of course it is false, because Mrs. Ramsey has no
other choice. She cannot lose herself in her work like a man. Her work is to make men feel superior
and this is ingrained in her mind. Of her husband we are told that, She was not good enough to tie his
shoe strings, she felt (Woolf, Lighthouse 32).
In spite of the power of men, To The Lighthouse suggests that many men feel sterile. Perhaps men are
psychologically sterilized by power. Patriarchal men can form no equal relationships with women

(Impact of cloud computing in supply chain, 2015) The difference between distributed computing with
individualized computing is that the cloud technology gives an extensive variety of capacities. The
usage of cloud built solutions depends on different elements, for example, the division in which the
business works; the practicality of porting existing parts on cloud, size of the organization, and the
area of customers and so on. It helps in reducing the time required as well as minimize the fixed cost
of the company. Therefore, it is not logistic to make a single explanation of implementation of cloud
computing technology. For example, a newly started company can adopt the cloud based solution
easily but it is difficult for existing firms to shift their supply chain to cloud technology. Let consider a
business has both ERP and CRM solutions, as concern from security view the business may move
their CRM to cloud while store ERP in house server. IT and media purchasers are confined on
bandwidth and disk utilization issues as use of these facilities require interest from the clients. A
sudden increase of interest may force the organization to locate more servers which they will need to

The Brain Drain and Revolution in the Late 19th and Early...
Introduction
By the end of the 19th century, Chinese officials were beginning to realize that their country s
educational infrastructure was becoming increasingly anachronistic. Traditional education largely
ignored technology considered it low class, even and students instead focused on cultivating a sense of
moral righteousness. Yet, the Confucian centered examination system was beginning to prove
ineffective in a world where modern militaries predominated in international relations. China learned
this painful lesson during a succession of lost wars, eventually entering a long period of introspection,
quite notably, by first looking outward. Foreign education systems were of particular interest to this
nation in transition. Foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the late Qing Empire s encounter with Western civilization was necessarily heralded by guns,
warships, and other new instruments of Western military might. The narrative of China s dynastic
glory was replaced with a newer, less flattering image of China as the sick man of Asia (Holcombe
193). Fears of the encroaching imperial powers were only heightened after China lost in the 1865 60
Opium War, as were fears of increasing internal disorder, as evinced by the 1851 64 Taiping Rebellion
(Bary 661; Rhoads 1 2). China would later suffer yet another humiliating defeat in the Sino Japanese
War of 1894 5, but they first instituted a series of reforms in an attempt to curtail foreign dominance,
particularly in the military sphere. China thus entered a period of so called self strengthening, a
government led restoration that spanned the years between 1961 and 1895. This movement was
largely a response to these early military defeats and the nation s perceived sense of inferiority
(Rhoads 1 2; Holcombe 201). In a phrase, the goal of self strengthening projects and the larger
Tongzhi Restoration (1862 74) was to emulate the Western countries and master their technical skills
(Holcombe 201; Rhoads 9). In order to do this, China first had to open its borders to Western
influence; the late Qing first allowed

Using Polystyrene ( Ps ) Standards For Calibration Essay
Introduction: Polyimides are high performance polymers with excellent electrical properties, high
thermal stability, and high strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures. They also have a high
chemical resistance and are therefore typically not soluble in common solvents. Because of solubility
issues the molecular weight (MW) and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of polyimides is near
impossible to obtain and in some cases the data listed is based on soluble precursors to the particular
polyimide of interest. These precursors are typically only soluble in amide solvents and because of
this the results obtained are questionable due to strong interactions that the polymer, mobile
phase/eluent, and stationary phase/column have with one another due to the polyelectrolyte effect.
This article aims to determine MW and MWD of polyimides via gel permeation chromatography
(GPC) by using solution imidization and thus not having to deal with the occurrence of the
polyelectrolyte effect. Therefore, the overall objective of this paper is to establish the proper
chromatographic conditions required to carry out this analysis with the use of polystyrene (PS)
standards for calibration.
Experimental:
Polyimide samples were prepared in N methylpyrrolidine (NMP) by using a step wise reaction and
end capping with m ethynylaniline in order to control the molecular weight. Via this process,
theoretical molecular weights of 5000, 10000, and 15000 g/mol were achieved and analyzed with the

Effects Of Schizophrenia On Society
Many people do not have a full understanding of what schizophrenia is and its affect on the individual
diagnosed and its affect on society. So the question at hand is what exactly is schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and
behaves. (NIH) Although schizophrenia is not as common as other mental disorders, it can be very
disabling. Approximately 7 to 8 individuals out of 1000 will get schizophrenia in their lifetime. People
with this disorder have many symptoms and issues. Those with schizophrenia may hear voices or see
things that are not actually there. They may also believe that other people are reading their minds,
controlling their thoughts, or plotting to harm them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Individuals with schizophrenia can still be before or after those ages but is more unlikely after the age
of 45. Childhood diagnosis of schizophrenia has become more and more advanced recently. Early
onset and diagnoses during the teen years is very difficult. To diagnose a teen is difficult due to the
overlap in behavior between schizophrenia and regular teenage behavior. Teens that are diagnosed
usually show the first symptoms of change of friends, a drop in grades, sleep problems, and irritability.
These symptoms are exactly identical to how regular teens act, causing the problem with the diagnosis
of schizophrenia. Usually the first of the symptoms to occur are the hallucinations and delusions. But,
many other factors can help diagnose youth that have schizophrenia. Some factors that can predict
schizophrenia in up to 80 percent of youth who are at high risk of developing the illness. (NIH)
Reason for the contraction of schizophrenia is still not yet known. Many scientists believe that it is
part hereditary mixed with environmental factors.
Treatments are becoming more widely available for those with schizophrenia. Researchers are still
continuously developing more effective treatments and using new research tools to understand the
causes of schizophrenia. In years to come, this work may help prevent and better treat the illness.

Although slavery ended on December 6, 1865, it still exists in different forms in the United States.
Modern day slavery consists of child labour, sex trafficking, bonded and forced labour, domestic
servitude, and forced marriage. Two of the most common types of slavery in the States is made up of
many underage workers and immigrants who came here to find a better future. Migrant workers is a
widespread form of slavery, but is often not considered to fit the standard definition of slavery. This is
a problem that should seriously be dealt with.
There are several forms of slave activities happening now throughout the world. The most common

Pangloss In Candide
Candide by Voltaire is a satirical work in which the author comments on religious and philosophical
beliefs in his day. Voltaire s irreverent narrative found within this book is very telling of his own
philosophical convictions. The main topic under scrutiny in this work is Leibniz s theory of the best of
all possible worlds. In this paper, I will seek to analyze the story of Candide, and more specifically the
character Pangloss, and in doing so examine Voltaire s commentary on the best of all possible worlds.
It seems that the main topic of Voltaire s critique is the Leibniz theory which states that the world we
live in is the best of all possible worlds. This theory is both explained and defended by the character
Pangloss. Pangloss is the tutor of the protagonist, Candide. Early on, Pangloss is identified as a

Bulgars, separated from his beloved, denied nourishment, and literally covered in feces. And yet,
when a man offers him some food, Candide exclaims: my tutor Pangloss was quite right,... when he
told me that all is for the best in this world of ours. Immediately thereafter, Candide sees a beggar
covered with sores. His eyes were lifeless, the end of his nose had rotted away, his mouth was all

bout of which he spat out a tooth. (28) This pathetic character is none other than the perpetual optimist

Weapons Are An Important Aspect Of Warfare
Weapons are an important aspect of warfare. They help determine how the war will go. If one side as
better and more technologically advanced weapons, they have an advantage over their opponents.
Nations struggle to create innovated weapons or improve old upon ones. Not every advancement is
appreciated and respected. An example of this type of weapon is the chemical weapons, gas or
chemical warfare. Chemical warfare is not an accepted or approved weapon, but one that has been
banned from use during war. Chemical weapons have been prohibited from warfare before the Great
War due to the effect it has on the soldiers and reactions from the civilians and soldiers. Why after
World War I are they universally prohibited? Chemical warfare was ... Show more content on

It was also this destruction and death that caused nations to later agree to the prohibition of chemical
weapons and warfare. Germany used chemicals as a weapon usually in the form of poisonous gas as it
was a more technologically advanced weapon then their enemies had. When the Germans first used
this weapon it was met with little resistance, therefore, proving that with more advanced weapons,
soldiers could accomplish their missions and goals both more accurately and faster or simply making
their mission more attainable. While using this weapon, the Germans were not stopped, simply as
there was no one to stop them from taking the trenches as their enemies lay dead on the ground in
what resembles a gruesome death. During the Second Battle of Ypres, the Germans used chemical
weapons for the first time and after a half hour; everything was dead with only the Germans to claim
the French trench. This weapon made it possible for the Germans to capture trenches and accomplish
their missions. During the war, the reactions to chemical warfare were increasingly negative from both
soldiers and civilians. The negative reactions and responses to chemical weapons are reasonable and
understandable. Soldiers held negative views on chemical warfare as they had to personally deal with
the attacks, while the civilians and citizens at home also had difficulty responding to chemical warfare
with anything but a negative response. The citizens at home had

Dreams, Beliefs, And The Elements Of Culture
Marcus Garvey, once said, A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is
like a tree without roots. With the creation of man came the creation of dreams, ideals, norms, mores,
beliefs and more. Which leads to those dreams, ideas, beliefs, and other things to take shape from the
beginning of our time until today. How are dreams, ideas, and beliefs related to culture? How have
these ancient beliefs and societies influence our world today? How do the ideals, norms, and mores
from myths represent a culture s belief? Our dreams, hopes, and beliefs for the future are rooted in the
ideas from ancient myths. In order to understand our dreams, hopes, and beliefs for the future we first
must try to have knowledge of our past. Part of doing so is to understand the culture and the parts or
elements of culture. Now what is culture? Culture is that complex whole which includes knowledge,

The Industrialization of the Northern United States Essays
A Connecticut minister, Horace Bushnell, once said that the industrialization of the United States
north produced a complete revolution in Americans life and manners. The complete revolution that
Bushnell speaks of was an era of industrialization triggered by a population growth, an increase in
literacy rates, and the development of labor saving technologies in the northern region of the United
States. This dramatic economic and social transformation instigated a series of outcomes, both
positive and negative, for the United States during the early to mid nineteenth century. Many aspects
of life for United States citizens were changing, such as the growing population in the north. In

Factories enabled a large number of people to be supervised together and replaced hand tools with
power driven machinery. The availability of factory jobs in the north caused a great influx of workers
to the region during this era. One group of people, immigrants, particularly met the demand for labor
in the north. Between 1840 and 1860, over 4 million people entered the United States. About 90
percent of these immigrants headed for the northern states where job opportunities were abundant. The
new advancements in railroads and steamboats, the increase in commercial farming, and the
development of large factories triggered the relocation of multitudes to northern cities. Each one
building upon another, the events that took place in the north during the 1800s instigated an extreme
growth of cities and urban societies, proving population growth to be a key effect of the
industrialization in the United States north. With the center of production moving from households to
mass production, women in America had to alter their way of life. A great number of women followed
labor opportunities to the mills, factories, and workshops. For the first time in history, large numbers
of women left their homes to participate in the public world. Mill Girls were typically young,
unmarried women who lived together in boarding houses provided by the factory for which they
worked. Lucy Larcom recalls,

As explained clearly in this source, Paris fashion was a huge influence for many other places in the
world at this time. Corseted waists. petticoats, and white powdery wigs were extremely famous during
the 18th century. One of the most famous garments women wore were panniers, undergarments worn
to fan out their dresses as a sign of feminism. The drapery of the dresses and wideness of the skirts
made the women seems more regal, wealthy and important. Men s fashion was not studied too in

the organizations would be able to find if they were to search for post purchase programs.

Analysis Of Mordecai Richler s The
Response Barney s Version Excerpt
In this excerpt, Mordecai Richler does an excellent job mixing both showing and telling. He is able to
skim over large periods of time without leaving the reader with questions, and gives just enough detail
that the audience is able to understand past events. Richler gives a great amount of detail about one
particular incident that enhances the essence of the event and contrasts with the last few sentences.
The small conversation that Richler added gives the reader a greater respect for what Leo
accomplished, and by contrast, demonstrates the great misjudgement the narrator made. Overall,
Richler does an excellent job of balancing showing and telling, and does so in an effective manner that
helps the audience gain insight into the situation through the use of contrast.

An Oedipal Relationship in Beneix s Diva Essay
The relationship between Jules and Cynthia Hawkins in Jean Jacques Beneix s Diva is uniquely
complex and vaguely oedipal. For Jules, the diva represents musical perfection, and he is completely
in love with her. However, her relationship to him is somewhat maternal. Jules s obsession with
Cynthia Hawkins is rather unhealthy, and he violates her purity. However, her maternal attitude
towards him allows for reconciliation despite his mistakes.
From the very beginning of the movie, the voice of Cynthia Hawkins pervades everything. In fact, the
opening title sequence tricks the viewer into thinking her voice is non diegetic sound, mere
background music for the on screen occurrences. However, when Jules turns off his tape deck, the ...

Alba can instantly detect his infatuation with the diva from the way he longingly stares at the lifelike
portrait of Cynthia, with her stolen dress draped over it almost as if the painting is wearing the gown.
Jules brings the diva s dress to a black prostitute, and has her wear the gown, trying to delude himself
into the illusion that he is with Cynthia Hawkins. Jules displays many of the characteristics of a young
lover. He brings flowers to Cynthia, and is content to hear the sound of her voice or be connected to
her in any way. When Jules and Cynthia meet for their walk, he holds her umbrella over her head
while they meander through the park. Also typical of an adolescent lover afraid to make a first move,
Jules moves closer and closer to her, slowly and hesitantly putting his hand on her shoulder, draping
his arm around her.
Despite his obvious romantic desires for Cynthia Hawkins, there are also some aspects of a maternal
relationship. Jules cuddles her gown while listening to her sing, seeking motherly comfort in the sound
of her music. Cynthia is comforted by her young fan. Although no one ever listens to her rehearse, she
allows Jules to stay and listen. It s strange, but I think I d like you to be there while I m working, she
tells him. Despite the way that Jules violates her in almost every way possible, Cynthia forgives him;
her reasons for this stem from the kind of unconditional love that mothers have for their children.

Pension Reform Essay
The analysis of networks of Turkish pension reform is interesting for two reasons. The first reason is
about the Turkish political context for the study of policy network. The second reason is the criticisms
about the policy making processes and the justifications of Turkish pension reform. Turkish political
context for policy network approach Turkish political context is in a nutshell that state is everything.
Turkish state exhibits a highly centralized and interventionist characteristic. In parallel to statist

Further, policy networks provide a legitimization of criticized policy reforms. Turkish pension reform
In the context of structural programs conducted by IMF and credit agreements with World Bank,
Turkey has taken a series of significant steps for pension privatization. World Bank (1994) has
suggested a three pillar pension system: a publicly managed, anti poverty system as the first pillar;
privately managed, individual retirement accounts as the second pillar; and a voluntary, supplemental
benefit plan as the third pillar (World Bank, 1994). After these steps were taken, current Turkish
pension system consists of a large first pillar (encompassing PAYG), a small second pillar and a
modest but growing third pillar (Cecen et al., 2016). The reform also includes measures that harden
the retirement conditions such as a gradual increase in retirement ages and contribution periods and
withdrawal of the state guarantee in retirement finance of the employees. Considering steps taken, we
could examine Turkish pension system in four periods (Table1). The wave of reform first arrived in
Turkey in 1999. Before 1999, pension scheme consists of a broad first pillar depending on PAYG
system and a rudimentary second pillar. As a condition of the credit agreement with World Bank,

Examples Of Stereotyping In Grendel
In chapter four, Grendel brings a corpse to the mead hall and attempts to shows his sympathy to the
dead man by saying, Mercy! Peace! (Gardner 51). He also said, Friend! Friend! (Gardner 52), he tries
to be friends with human by showing his sorrow. However, people in the meadhall think that Grendel
kills the man and he brings to the corpse to show off his strength and warns mankind to stay away,
people sees Grendel as a threat to them. People misunderstand Grendel s because of Grendel s
appearance, Grendel looks like a monster, and monster is always evil and violent in human s
perspective, they judge solely base on one s appearance, thus they are stereotyping Grendel.
Stereotyping is a very common phenomenon in today society, people tend to impose everything that
they acknowledged about a specific kind of people on to every one of them, we categorized people by
their skin colors, sex, religions, cultural background, etc. I have seen a lot of examples of stereotyping

R1972 And R2012 Report
Assessment is an essential part of the teaching and learning process. Assessment is most effective
when there is alignment between the outcomes, the design of assessment tasks, the criteria, marking
procedures and feedback provided; this referred to as constructive alignment (Potter Kustra, 2012).
The purpose of an assessment, and the modes and strategies used will depend on a number of factors.
Diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment are three modes of assessment that may be used.
While each of these modes of assessment has a particular purpose, the underlying purpose of all
assessments is to promote student learning (Brady Kennedy, 2012).
Diagnostic assessments are usually conducted at the beginning of a unit of work to find out students
current levels of understandings and reveal any misconceptions. Summative assessments are given at
the end of a unit of work these assessments are used to determine the degree to which students have

High Cost Of College
When someone hears that you re a college student, that person usually assumes broke college student .
To be honest for most college students this is true. Now coming out of high school i knew that college

breathe on campus. The most expensive things in college besides the course itself are the books. Now
you would think I m paying $400 for a English course, why would they make me pay $175 for the
book alone. College text books are beyond expensive. Never did i imagine that books could cost so

How is education supposed to help us become better people, to have a better future yet it s costing us
way more then it should. Not only is the cost of books horrendous but the average cost of college
overall is horrendous. People constantly say stay in school! or a college degree is the only way but
how are we supposed to pay for it all? College books are costing us the same amount as someone s
rent. I understand that time, work and dedication goes into making these books but this is our future.
Our education, future career and future support is on the line. For many people the cost of getting an
education is the reason for dropping out or never returning. Its sad when it comes down to people
having to work two jobs to be able to pay it off. That s not what education should be about and making
us by these book at this outrageous price is wrong. In school, no matter what grade, were always
taught that dreams are limitless and that s true. However, the price of getting their is higher than ever.
We live in a society where it s all about money and that effects our education and the books for it.
How can we, as students, strive to be the best without the resources for it. How can we, be able to
motivate ourselves when we re in debt trying to pay off things. The least of a college students worries
should be the cost of books.
I ll never be able to agree with the high prices of books. I ll never understand the drastic cost of
college textbooks needed in a class. I can honestly sit here and say that i ve even thought about
dropping out due to the high cost of college itself. This semester I got lucky, as to where I only had to

Birth Control Access to Teens

Topic: Birth control access to teenage girls
Thesis statement: Although teenage girls are prohibited from purchasing birth control, laws should be

But they get the message that sex is risky. They begin to see sex as a sensitive issue that should be
taken very seriously because it involves life changing consequences. Additionally, a study published in
the Journal of Adolescent Health found that teaching about contraception and making them available
to teenagers was not associated with increased risk of sexual activity as many abstinence only
supporters have insisted. Therefore, the availability of birth control along with education about it does
not increase sexual activity but informs teenagers to practice good decision making for their bodies
and their future.
The opponents of birth control to teens overlook the fact that providing birth control to teenage girls
would make sex much safer. Certainly, the unsteady rate of teenage pregnancies would decrease. In
previous times, girls between the ages of 16 17 would get pregnant unintentionally. However, in this
era, 13 and 14 year old girls are having babies teens who are completely unprepared to give birth and
raise a child. In these instances, if the child is not given up for adoption, the responsibility usually
becomes that of the parents. In addition, when teenagers are protected from unwanted pregnancies the
number of teen abortions taking place each year could be reduced significantly. According to
Guttmacher.org, some states in the U.S have reported that 50 percent of pregnant teens receive an
abortion. Not only is this a costly procedure, but it is also

Using Data From The British Election Study
This paper is a research project that uses data from the British Election Study. The study has responses
from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The survey asks a variety of questions
regarding the elections and the perceptions of the participants. The questions include responses for
voting preferences, issues faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter towards left or right,
taxation and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration, economic status and so
forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and Likert scale questions on a
scale of one to ten being used. Due to the large amount of data and the variety of information asked,
this report will restrict itself to testing a few hypotheses, which will be targeted towards specific areas,
and which can be proved or disproved through use of cross tabulation analysis based on data obtained
in the survey. It has been noted that the economic status of a voter tends to impact the political
leanings of the voter. It was noted in a survey carried out in the USA that wage levels were an
indicator of voter preferences where people who earned less than $70,000 noted to lean towards the
liberal, Democratic Party, while those who earned more tended to be more conservative in leaning
towards the Republican Party (Thompson, 2012). Another study conducted in Malaysia concluded that
voters consider the economic conditions of the country before voting for a government, and

Atp Human Movement Process
ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is a molecule used for human movement. Even though ATP is being
constantly produced, it is not produced fast enough to keep us moving for long periods of time. Thus,
we have the three metabolic pathways; the ATP/CP (creatine phosphate) pathway, the glycolytic
pathway, and the aerobic oxidative pathway to continuously provide our bodies with ATP during any
activity. Each pathway has a storage of ATP which can only rebuild so quickly. Once ATP depletes
from one system the next system takes over. The ATP/CP pathway requires no oxygen for energy use
and is utilized during short periods of time; no more than 3 to 15 seconds of high intensity work
before ATP runs out. For activities such as a 50 meter dash or a 1 rep ... Show more content on

To prepare for a marathon I would do activities that last for long periods of time to help build my
endurance. Endurance exercises stimulate certain changes to help the body progress as more strain is
put on it. This would in turn condition my body to learn how to overcome this strain s and continue to
push through the lactic acid. If I was an experienced runner, I would aim to do activities other than
running to improve my fitness and prevent and rehabilitate any injuries I may have acquired from
running too much. A total body strength training session such as swimming or biking would help keep
my heart rate up and help build my endurance. However, if I was brand new to running, I would first
start by running a few times a week, around 20 minutes a day depending on how my cardio was and

Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austin Essay
In reference to the novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austin, Austin targets several themes in
correlation to the early 19th century in England. Austin s central theme however, is love and marriage.
Trough love and marriage Austin is able to criticize social class, wealth, gender inequality, and
prejudice. In such matter, Austin believes happiness cannot be obtained by arrangement, force, nor any
type of exterior influences. So in respect to love, which leads to marriage, Austen s thoughts of mutual
attraction are the most important thing of a marriage. One who betrays his or her heart will never own
true love. True love is much more cherishing than money and social position. This is what Austen puts
a great deal of emphasis on. Intertwining themes, Austen s perception of happiness is traced off gender
injustices women suffered in 19th century English society; Austen jabs at the English society and
norms of that time period, by exploiting a female character; Elizabeth Bennet. Regaining focus on
Austen s thought about happiness, with respect to marriage or love; the authors position on such topic
is amplified via the characters pairings and doublings and as they shift through the course of the novel.
As we analyze the main characters in the novel, both Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are the main
couplet in which experience significant development as the novel gallops along towards the ending.
Being the second oldest of the Bennet sisters, Elizabeth Bennet, is a

Literal Interpretations In Greek Mythology
Interpretations are explanations that result from understanding something (The Real Dictionary).
There are two main types of interpretations that are used in Greek mythology. There is literal
interpretation and personification interpretation. Both types of interpretations have impacts on the
moral responsibility within the stories. Literal interpretation is an interpretation based on the exact
wording (The Real Dictionary). Literal interpretation of the Greek Gods means taking the information
provided in the scenario and taking it literal and word for word. There isn t any beating around the
bush during literal interpretation. Literal interpretation has remarkable consequences when it comes to
moral responsibility. Because literal interpretation interferes in one s life, it is in control of one s
actions, not that person. Moral responsibility takes place when one is in control of their own actions.

Essay About Authoritarianism
The development of the Philippines has always been criticized and keenly watched over by economic
specialists and the idea of changing or improving the system of how the government works could be
beneficial to the country. The study on the Authoritarian regime could be advantageous to Filipinos
because it could help open the eyes and minds to other good aspects and qualities that can be drawn
out from it. Being aware of the flourishing state of the Philippines during the Marcos regime,
Authoritarianism is healthy for the country at present and the things that should be considered are the
country s growth, the risk of giving up freedom, and the Filipinos perception on the idea. Results show
that Filipinos are accustomed to see Authoritarianism through the stereotypical traits that are
embedded with it, thus, making them in complete opposition to the idea of incorporating the regime in

School Security Research Paper
Having good security in schools is becoming more and more of an issue in our society. School
administrations need a good way to keep track of students in many aspects of school. The government
gives money to schools and expects good and accurate records of their students. Schools are changing
rapidly. New technologies are being implemented everyday in our schools. Many schools around the
country are beginning to use biometric finger scanning in schools. It is cost efficient, affordable, and
accurate. When you think of biometric scanning, schools might not be the first thing that comes to
mind. Instead, you might think of a police station registering criminals. You may also think of the FBI
using finger prints to track down criminals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some types are facial recognition, finger print scans, and handwriting. Anything that is a part of you
can be used for recognition. Perhaps the most accurate and easy to use is the fingerprint scan. A
fingerprint scan scans the small pattern in the center of your finger. Your fingerprint is different from
every other person on the face of the planet. Even identical twins have different fingerprints.
Fingerprint scans are safe, fast, and easy to use. You will not have to worry about being misinformed
on your students. There is virtually no chance you will get the wrong information. The chance that a
student will get confused with another student is 1 in 200 million. An acceptable chance, no doubt.
However, you may ask yourself why would we use this fancy technology instead of PINs or
identification cards. Well, there are many downsides to these. PINs can be forgotten, swapped, or
stolen. Cards can be swapped, broken, or lost. It is a good thing that you cannot forget your
fingerprint! So why would schools use biometrics? Because they improve efficiency, operations, and
security. You can use it in virtually all parts of a school to insure students are always where they
belong. Once biometrics are successfully implements into one part of a school, it is often embraced in
other parts as

Running Head: ANNA FREUD
Anna Freud
Anna Freud
Selecting a woman that made significant contributions to the field of psychology between the years
1850 and 1950 is not an easy task as there is more than one woman who made significant
contributions to the field of Psychology. Out of those talented women Anna Freud, overshadows her
colleagues. Anna can be considered to have a fascinating background, which influenced her later
development of unique theoretical perspectives. Her father, Sigmund Freud famous for his multiple
theories about the mind he is regarded as the founder of psychology probably influenced her following
his footsteps and being interested in psychoanalysis, in particular, in child psychoanalysis. However,

Such disagreement started when trying to answer the question how to begin a child analysis. Melanie
and Anna could not agree on an answer. Anna Freud presented her idea about Child Analysis in 1927
in her lecture Preparation for Child Analysis, her presentation obviously disagreed with Melanie Klein
idea of immediate deep understanding. Anna demonstrated with the analysis of six cases how the
process should take place. For Anna before beginning analyzing a child s behavior she needed to win
the child over. An assumption considered erroneous, and that she did little to correct it. Another belief
Anna Freud has been that detailed assessment and accurate diagnosis was the cornerstone of a good
treatment in the field of child mental health. The latter is concept still apply in child psychology these
days.
One of Anna s Freud greatest contributions to the world of psychology was the creation during WWII
of the Hampstead War Nurseries. Anna also contributed to the field of Psychology by formulating the
theory and practicing on it by observing children during the Second World War at the Hampstead War
Nurseries. The Hampstead Clinic is sometimes spoken of as Anna Freud s extended family, and that is
how it often felt, with all the ambivalence such a statement implies, (Freud Museum London, n.d.).
Anna encouraged mothers to visit their foster cared children so they can form attachments by

Why Was The Magna Carta Created
King John ruled England at the beginning of the thirteenth century. Not only did he rule, but he ruled
with full power under the monarchial government. His choices were not fair. They triggered many
problems between foreign countries who were the country s tax payers, causing the people of England
s taxes to rise. Throughout a very long and winded process, the English barons became unhappier with
the decisions King John had been making. This is why the Magna Carta was created. The Magna
Carta is a document that was originally created in the year of 1215. This name is presented in the Latin
Language, meaning The Great Charter. A charter is a written endowment by a country s legislation by
which an institution, or in this case, government, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this was true, they were directly produced to King John to stop his unfair rule. This
document is considered a landmark document because initially it only applied to the country of
England. It issued many important laws that are used today. It made sure that the cruel and unusual
punishments that were not forbidden became illegal. This is simply because of moral rights. Another
major clause in the Great Charter was that one person cannot be held responsible for a crime without a
trial by jury of his/her friends. Also, a major clause of the document is that justice should not be sold
or unnecessarily overdue. Throughout history, the Magna Carta was modified and sort of recreated .
By the twentieth century, only three major clauses remained in the document. The first clause granted
freedom to the Church of England. These churches are Christian Catholic with strong beliefs in their
religious rights. Furthermore, they guarantee the customs and liberties of the English city of London.
Lastly, they forbid uninformed arrest and the transaction of justice. Unlike most historical documents,
whether declaring freedom from a king or any other form of government, the Magna Carta has no
official copy. Each copy had at least three thousand six hundred words written exclusively. Only four
of the original copies are remaining today. Many different versions of the Magna Carta were
established between the years 1225 and 1297. Matter of fact, one original copy from 1217 recently
sold for 21.3 million

The average lifespan for humans continue to expand everyday, and within that time frame learning is accomplished in both a positive and negative manner. In Dewey s second chapter The Need of a Theory of Experience , the concept of a mis educative experience as well as an educative experience are equally discussed. The claim that Dewey makes on page twenty five reads: Any experience is mis educative that has the effect of arresting or distorting the growth of further education. . From this viewpoint, the conclusion that any human being throughout history has acquired at least one mis educative experience can be made. From the classroom perspective, any student that learns in only a singular manner may be classified as having a mis educative experience because a teacher typically only shows a singular way to solve a problem such as in mathematics, view a poem in literature, or interpret data in science. The reason for this being a negative process is students may not have the ability to adapt to the lessons that they are learning in a style that is more suited to their needs. She does not know who she is or what she really looks like. She must change in every situation, with every different man she is expected to support. Mrs. Ramsey supports these men in her life because that is the only way she can create an identity. Woolf suggests that even this support may be false. Of course it is false, because Mrs. Ramsey has no other choice. She cannot lose herself in her work like a man. Her work is to make men feel superior and this is ingrained in her mind. The narrative of China s dynastic glory was replaced with a newer, less flattering image of China as the sick man of Asia (Holcombe 193). Fears of the encroaching imperial powers were only heightened after China lost in the 1865 60 Opium War, as were fears of increasing internal disorder, as evinced by the 1851 64 Taiping Rebellion (Bary 661; Rhoads 1 2). China would later suffer yet another humiliating defeat in the Sino Japanese War of 1894 5, but they first instituted a series of reforms in an attempt to curtail foreign dominance, particularly in the military sphere. China thus entered a period of so called self strengthening, a government led restoration that spanned the years between 1961 and 1895. This movement was largely a response to these early military defeats and the nation s perceived sense of inferiority (Rhoads 1 2; Holcombe 201). • 10. Using Polystyrene ( Ps ) Standards For Calibration Essay Introduction: Polyimides are high performance polymers with excellent electrical properties, high thermal stability, and high strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures. They also have a high chemical resistance and are therefore typically not soluble in common solvents. Because of solubility issues the molecular weight (MW) and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of polyimides is near impossible to obtain and in some cases the data listed is based on soluble precursors to the particular polyimide of interest. These precursors are typically only soluble in amide solvents and because of this the results obtained are questionable due to strong interactions that the polymer, mobile phase/eluent, and stationary phase/column have with one another due to the polyelectrolyte effect. This article aims to determine MW and MWD of polyimides via gel permeation chromatography (GPC) by using solution imidization and thus not having to deal with the occurrence of the polyelectrolyte effect. Therefore, the overall objective of this paper is to establish the proper chromatographic conditions required to carry out this analysis with the use of polystyrene (PS) standards for calibration. Experimental: Polyimide samples were prepared in N methylpyrrolidine (NMP) by using a step wise reaction and end capping with m ethynylaniline in order to control the molecular weight. • 24. An Oedipal Relationship in Beneix s Diva Essay The relationship between Jules and Cynthia Hawkins in Jean Jacques Beneix s Diva is uniquely complex and vaguely oedipal. For Jules, the diva represents musical perfection, and he is completely in love with her. However, her relationship to him is somewhat maternal. Jules s obsession with Cynthia Hawkins is rather unhealthy, and he violates her purity. However, her maternal attitude towards him allows for reconciliation despite his mistakes. From the very beginning of the movie, the voice of Cynthia Hawkins pervades everything. In fact, the opening title sequence tricks the viewer into thinking her voice is non diegetic sound, mere background music for the on screen occurrences. Alba can instantly detect his infatuation with the diva from the way he longingly stares at the lifelike portrait of Cynthia, with her stolen dress draped over it almost as if the painting is wearing the gown. Jules brings the diva s dress to a black prostitute, and has her wear the gown, trying to delude himself into the illusion that he is with Cynthia Hawkins. Jules displays many of the characteristics of a young lover. He brings flowers to Cynthia, and is content to hear the sound of her voice or be connected to her in any way. When Jules and Cynthia meet for their walk, he holds her umbrella over her head while they meander through the park. Also typical of an adolescent lover afraid to make a first move, Jules moves closer and closer to her, slowly and hesitantly putting his hand on her shoulder, draping his arm around her. Despite his obvious romantic desires for Cynthia Hawkins, there are also some aspects of a maternal relationship. Jules cuddles her gown while listening to her sing, seeking motherly comfort in the sound of her music. Cynthia is comforted by her young fan. Although no one ever listens to her rehearse, she allows Jules to stay and listen. It s strange, but I think I d like you to be there while I m working, she tells him. Despite the way that Jules violates her in almost every way possible, Cynthia forgives him; her reasons for this stem from the kind of unconditional love that mothers have for their children. Further, policy networks provide a legitimization of criticized policy reforms. Turkish pension reform In the context of structural programs conducted by IMF and credit agreements with World Bank, Turkey has taken a series of significant steps for pension privatization. World Bank (1994) has suggested a three pillar pension system: a publicly managed, anti poverty system as the first pillar; privately managed, individual retirement accounts as the second pillar; and a voluntary, supplemental benefit plan as the third pillar (World Bank, 1994). After these steps were taken, current Turkish pension system consists of a large first pillar (encompassing PAYG), a small second pillar and a modest but growing third pillar (Cecen et al., 2016). The reform also includes measures that harden the retirement conditions such as a gradual increase in retirement ages and contribution periods and withdrawal of the state guarantee in retirement finance of the employees. Considering steps taken, we could examine Turkish pension system in four periods (Table1). The wave of reform first arrived in Turkey in 1999. Assessment is most effective when there is alignment between the outcomes, the design of assessment tasks, the criteria, marking procedures and feedback provided; this referred to as constructive alignment (Potter Kustra, 2012). The purpose of an assessment, and the modes and strategies used will depend on a number of factors. Diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment are three modes of assessment that may be used. While each of these modes of assessment has a particular purpose, the underlying purpose of all assessments is to promote student learning (Brady Kennedy, 2012). Diagnostic assessments are usually conducted at the beginning of a unit of work to find out students current levels of understandings and reveal any misconceptions. The study has responses from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The survey asks a variety of questions regarding the elections and the perceptions of the participants. The questions include responses for voting preferences, issues faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter towards left or right, taxation and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration, economic status and so forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and Likert scale questions on a scale of one to ten being used. Even though ATP is being constantly produced, it is not produced fast enough to keep us moving for long periods of time. Thus, we have the three metabolic pathways; the ATP/CP (creatine phosphate) pathway, the glycolytic pathway, and the aerobic oxidative pathway to continuously provide our bodies with ATP during any activity. Each pathway has a storage of ATP which can only rebuild so quickly. Once ATP depletes from one system the next system takes over. Austin s central theme however, is love and marriage. Trough love and marriage Austin is able to criticize social class, wealth, gender inequality, and prejudice. In such matter, Austin believes happiness cannot be obtained by arrangement, force, nor any type of exterior influences. So in respect to love, which leads to marriage, Austen s thoughts of mutual attraction are the most important thing of a marriage. One who betrays his or her heart will never own true love. True love is much more cherishing than money and social position. This is what Austen puts a great deal of emphasis on. Intertwining themes, Austen s perception of happiness is traced off gender injustices women suffered in 19th century English society; Austen jabs at the English society and norms of that time period, by exploiting a female character; Elizabeth Bennet.
