The Rise Of Asian Civilizations
Do you feel that Asian Civilizations from 1500 to 1700 veered towards modernity or careened back
toward traditional culture? From the 16th to 18th century, the prominent Asian Civilizations were
the Mughal Empire, the Ming Dynasty of China and the Edo Period of Japan. There was an obvious
trend that these empires leaned toward traditional culture mainly because of political influences.
Although there were also several aspects of each society such as the more important role of women
in the Mughal Empire, the interactions of the Jesuits with Chinaand Japan that might be indicative
of modernity or act as a precursor to modern values, the reversion of traditional culture in each
civilization is so much greater that it outweighed the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, farming lands were reclaimed, campaigns of reforestation were initiated, roads and
canals were paved and dug, and irrigation and flood prevention measures were constructed.
Instead of focusing on trading and commercialism like their previous Mongolian rulers, the Ming
reverted back to the traditional Chinese agrarian society. At around the 16th Century, the Edo
Period began in Japan, marked by the ruling of the Tokugawa Ieyasu over Daimyos, or feudal
lords. Because of his military strength, the Shogun was able to help restore the Imperial rule to its
former glory by granting lands to the royal family and creating a system that emulates tradition,
installing the Emperor as the head of Japan, when in reality it is but a figurehead. However, at least
it is ceremonially important and is considered upholding of traditional values. The Shogun also
banned Japanese from traveling abroad as well as completely isolating Japan from the rest of the
world after several disputes with Europeans and their Jesuits. This is why Japan remained largely
uninfluenced by modern Western Ideals until the 18th century. Another noteworthy example of
traditionalism in these civilizations is the presence of a strong caste system within their society. In
the Mughal Empire, the caste system of the Indians which make up the most of the population was
still in effect at that time.

Argumentative Essay On Organ Donation
The medical industry had been achieving more in the stage of medical advancements, though they
are still in the early phase. Artificial organs have been one of those achievements. Although they
have achieved such, artificial organs are not perfect. Most doctors as well as patients would prefer
to replace a dying organ with a compatible human organ, rather than with an artificial or animal
organ. Yet due to a there being less organs donated than recipients, artificial and animal organs are
becoming more common in transplants. Most of this issue is because people are unaware of how
organ donationworks, the organs that can be donated, how many people are in need, and the
advancements that have happened in the field. Organ donation saves hundreds of lives every year,
but many lives are recklessly lost due to a shortage of organ donors.
Organ donation is the medical process of voluntarily giving one or more of your organs to
someone in need, whether it be someone you know or a stranger. It is strictly voluntary, no
payment for the organ/s will be given from the hospital, the recipient or the recipients family. In
organ donation, there are two types of donations, living organ donation and deceased organ
donation. Living organ donation is when the donor is still alive and voluntarily chooses to donate
one or more of their organs to a recipient(s) in need. Whereas, deceased organ donation happens
after the donor has passed away, and consent was given to be able to donate their organs.
In living organ donation, before a donor can donate there are tests administrated to see if the donor
is suitable to donate. There is an evaluation of the donor done to make sure that no physical,
psychological, or emotional harm will happen to them before, during, or after donating
(Organdonor.gov U.S. Government Information on Organ Donation and Transplantation). In living
organ donation, most donations happen within family members, or between close friends, although
there are stranger donations that happen. Living organ donors should generally be physically fit,
in good health, and between the ages of 18 to 60. They should not have a history or have diabetes,
cancer, high blood pressure, kidney disease, or heart disease

The Pharisees Rationale
Dagyeong Yang (Irene)
Dr. Paul R. Sauer
REL200
The Pharisees Rationale Sadducees, Pharisees, Essenes, and Zealots are four major Jewish sects
active in Palestine at the Second Temple Judaism period around 25 B.C. to 70 A.D. Those sects
had distinguished characteristics and beliefs. A scroll written in Hebrew language in a stone box,
which discovered by archaeologists was written by one of the four Jewish sects based on their
belief. The scroll points out in the first few sentences that the Lord they believe in respects other s
religious belief unlike their profane enemies, Romans, who consider the Lord and them as the
destruction. The Pharisees wrote the scroll as they believed following laws, rules, and regulations
leads one to the Lord and eternal life. Sadducees, one of the major sects, did not believe about
resurrection, angels, and souls. Their belief was strongly based on five books of Moses (6, slide #

The Pharisees were a political party, social movement, and educators during the Second Temple age.
From the New Testament, Pharisees had conflicts with John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. The
biggest difference between the Sadducees and Pharisees is the latter believes in the afterlife. It is
discussed in the lecture slide as platonic immortality of the soul and end time bodily resurrection
(6, Slide#22). They believed that good people would be reincarnated into other bodies while bad
people will suffer eternal punishment. The text from the scroll stated, Messiah come and strike the
earth with the word of His mouth . Also, the following line said that he is coming not only to take
way the sinner but also to promise eternity of life. The text reasons with the judgment day being
real, and it responds to understand that God as higher being is and will be in control until that

Analysis Of Charlie In The Rocky Horror Picture Shows
The protagonist whose name is Charlie is a freshman. He is by no means popular, but not the
biggest nerd in his school. He is timid, thoughtful, intelligent yet his social awkwardness blocks it
all. He is a wallflower, as seen in the movie, found between attempting to carry on with his life but
running away from it. Charlie endeavors to explore his way through unfamiliar domain: the world
of first dates, mixtapes, family dramas, friends, sex, drugs, and the play The Rocky Horror Picture
Show. As he challenges himself through these life experiences, he cannot remain on the sideline
until the end of time. I think he realizes that remaining on the edge of life offers only one view on
life. The emptiness of culture shown in the film: There is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

afterward I understood, he needed to take an interest. He needed to be known and be seen and be a
piece of an option that is greater than him. He sought after the possibility of discussing the
diversion with somebody on Monday morning, and Sam and Patrick offered him simply that: a
place for him to talk, be listened, and take an interest. At last, the community gave Charlie a setting

Briar Rose Case Study
Top 2 5 things that happened:
When Rebecca s grandmother died, she had made a dying promise to her, which is to find the
castle and the prince from her tale about Briar Rose. This is an important event to the story that
made Rebecca question about Gemma s past.
Becca found a box full of old pictures of Gemma leading all the clues to a place called Kulmhof.
Kulmhof is not an ordinary place, it was a concentration camp no, it was a place of extermination.
Harvey had said that no woman nor a man had ever escaped the extermination camp alive. This is
important because this is providing us a pathway to Gemma s past.

Gemma had always been secretive about her past and no one in the family even knew her real
name, let alone where she came from or how she came to be in the United States. Becca had
made a promise to her dying grandmother which leads her to a remarkable journey to uncover the
truth about Gemma s astonishing claim, I am Briar Rose . What would Becca find about Gemma s
real identity? Who is Gemma really is?
The story of Briar Rose is a mysterious, interesting, and sometimes depressing book which keeps
you on the edge of your seat to find out what twist will happen next. It is a darker version of the
fairy tale, so if you pick it up don t be surprised expecting something like Disney s Sleeping Beauty
because this is not an ordinary fairy tale that has witches or curses.
The story follows the same general lines as the fairy tale BUT one major change is that it was
taken during the Holocaust, some of these events did happen, making it a story that strikes deep.
This book makes it the perfect story that makes you jump around in different time periods and
perspective. The fairy tale of Briar Rose was the only tale Gemma is always talking about when
Rebecca and her sisters were young, but was it a fairy tale or real life she was talking about to her

Stephen King’s “Why We Crave Horror Movies” Essay
examples
It was the summer of 1983; I was reading my first Horror novel by Jay Anson The Amityville
Horror , it was the scariest thing I had ever picked up. Despite the late hours I continued to read
into the early morning hours until my eyes burned for relief. Whenever I got up to use the rest
room I would stand on the end of my bed lean over and open the door and jump so not to be
grabbed by monsters that might be laying in wait under my bed. This started a long love affair for
horror stories.
For instance Stephen King is known as the master of horror; I have read all his older novels.
Watched a few of his movies and discovered the movies are B rated compared to the books. His
newer work is a little more farfetched for me more like Sci Fi, ... Show more content on

However, if I catch the movie before the book comes out I am able to enjoy it more, after watching
movie first; I like to read the book to compare the two.
Last year when the book, Shutter Island reached the book stores I purchased it immediately.
While I was in the middle of reading it the audio book was released, so I decided to download it
to my MP3 player. I located my place in the book and picked up there on my MP3 player so
while following along in my book I listened to the audio. To my surprise the two were very
different, not much that you would say they wrote two different books. Although enough you
could tell the reader was not reading from the same book you were. As I followed along
listening, the reader was adding parts that were not in my book, now these pieces could have
been in the original books manuscript from which he might be reading, but it helped to give
further insight into the story. Having really enjoyed reading this piece, however watching the
movie after reading the book anyone could pick out at least fifteen things that were in the book
that was left out of the movie. I personally believe this is what made the movie a major failure at
the box office. Now you can understand my reasoning for not watching the movies and why I d

The Ocean Pollution
I m in the ocean every day, it s my second home. Because of this, I am very sensitive to literary
and other pollution that ends up in our oceans. I can t walk down the beach today without seeing
a pile of trash. Because of this curiosity, I wanted to research what another type of litter fill our
local ocean. Our ocean is filthy, Plastics and fibers make their way into the sea naturally every
day. Apart from the rest of the trash, some of these plastics and fibers are microscopic, coining
the term microfibers or microplastics. This problem is getting worse. Much like global
warming in the past, this problem is not clearly obvious. As a society, we have made numerous
efforts to begin to clean up our oceans and beaches, but our tiny particle problem still goes
undetected, unevaluated, and unresolved for most of the world s population. So we will
probably ask how are they getting there? Microplastics and microfibers find their way to the
ocean in a few ways. Whether it s through our washing machine, thought beach litter, or our use
of cheap synthetic materials, we are creating water systems filled with these tiny particles. The
fibers then bypass filters and make their way into the ocean. With a microscopic size,
microplastics clearly aren t a threat to marine life. I ve been surfing all my life and I had no idea
there was such a thing as microplastics. But these tiny particles are everywhere, and the
question still resides, what does this mean for marine life? The effect of microplastics on our
oceans marine life is indirect and therefore less obvious. Unlike microplastics, standard trash can
directly harm animals by suffocating birds or imitating food. Microplastics play no direct threat
to marine life, however, their long term effect on clams, oysters, and other filter feeders will
surely cause long term catastrophe to our marine food web. So that brings us to the overlying
problem, tiny microplastics and microfibers in our oceans created by a society built on synthetic
materials are causing huge negative effects in our ocean s food webs. By bringing awareness to all
these factors solutions can then be formed. We will first look at what negative effects microfiber
and microplastics have on our

Application Of A Raspberry Pi
Everyday all over the world thousands of dollars are wasted by people forgetting or not knowing
that they have left their lights on. As a person who enjoys fixing problems I set out to design a
product to fix this problem. Before I explain the things, I have researched I should probably
explain my product itself. My product consists of a Raspberry Pi, light sensor, another circuit, and
multiple components for visual purposes and for voltage reading. As most of the parts for this
have already been made and are compatible with the Raspberry Pi, most of my product consist of
costume made coding.
The first thing I researched was the Raspberry Pi as it is the main component of this product. A
Raspberry Pi is basically a single board computer with all the same components as a normal
computer, but just much smaller. The main coding language that is used on a Raspberry Pi is
Python (that is what language we decided to go with). Finding out that a Raspberry Pi is just a
tiny computer I decided the next step would be to research the parts of a computer to fully
understand how the Raspberry Pi would be handling the data sent to it by the modules. The first
main part of a computer is the CPU (Central Processing Unit). The Central Processing Unit takes
the data, numbers, and information given to the computer and processes it in to data that the other
parts of the computer can use. The easiest way to describe it is as the brains of the computer as it
basically does the same thing as our

Discuss How Shakespeare Uses Language and Dramatic...
Discuss how Shakespeare uses language and dramatic techniques for character development in
Act 2 Scene 2 of Measure for Measure. Shakespeare uses a variety of linguistic devices and
dramatic techniques for character development from Act 2 Scene 2 to Scene 4. We see Angelo s
precise, business like persona transform to temptation, and final cruelty whilst we see the true,
confident side of Isabella as as she attempts to convince Angelo to reverse his judgement, but
eventually loses her ignorant hope on the realisation of his true purpose . In Act 2 Scene 2
Shakespeare portrays Angelo as precise, intelligently dealing with the pleas of Isabella to save the
life of her brother by reversing the death sentence that has been handed down to him.... Show more

Comparing the characters of Angelo and Isabella, one could argue that Isabella is the symbol of
goodness and mercy set against a background of moral decay . Alternatively, one could see her
character as self righteous and hypocritical, as we later discover when she values her chastity
higher than her brother s life. Isabella continues arguing with Angelo until he finally relents and
tells her to come back the next day to hear his judgement. Everyone leaves, and Angelo speaks a
rather striking soliloquy, apparently talking to himself ...what art thou Angelo? Dost thou desire
her foully for those things that make her good? . Thus, through Shakespeare s staging, we learn
that Angelo admits to himself that he is in love with Isabella because of her virtue and purity.
Often characters in Shakespeare s plays have soliloquies but they do not often refer to
themselves in third person and when they do, it is often a sign of madness. Perhaps Shakespeare
is suggesting this as a sign for Angelo. What is certain is that he is struggling with an inward
battle between what he knows he should do and what he desires to do, as his develops and starts
questioning the morality of his own character. It is with great irony that Isabella s call to Angelo to
mark the weaknesses in his own heart is answered by Angelo s acknowledgement that he is tempted
by Isabella. It is this temptation that brings from Angelo his first

Objectives Of A Sustainable Business Participates
A sustainable business participates in environmentally friendly activities to ensure that all
processes, products, services and manufacturing activities adequately address ongoing
environmental concerns while still producing a profit. A business is sustainable if it has a minimal
negative influence on the environment, community, society, or economy. Businesses are green if
they incorporate principles of sustainabilityinto each of its business decisions and activities. The
business supplies environmentally favorable products or services. In return, replaces the demand
for products or services that are not friendly to the environment. Each business should strive to be
greener than their competition. The business must also make a lasting dedication to environmental
principles in its business dealings in the future. Businesses should design products or services that
will benefit the current environmental situation.
The three r s of sustainability are reduce, reuse, and recycle. To reduce means using fewer
resources in the first place. A reused object is, simply put back to work, whether for its original
purpose or not. This is the most effective of the three R s and the place to begin for each business
looking to be more sustainable. There are many things you can do to reduce waste at work. This
may include going electronic. This could include electronic filing, routing, and billing is also faster
and can significantly reduce paper use. Businesses should use both sides of a

Delirium Model
Delirium can have adverse effects on the patients, family and the healthcare system. Delirium has
been defined as a sharp change in cognition that cannot be associated with dementia which is
either evolving or already in existence. These sharp changes in cognition will normally occur
within hours or days (Alzhemiers, 2002). It is categorized as reversible. Some of the symptoms
for patients who have delirium include lack of attention, disorganized mode of thinking, altered
mode of attention and consciousness, and continuous disturbances. One of the remedies for
treating delirium is early diagnosis and treatment. Elderly patients are prone to delirium and,
therefore, are more affected. The problem with elderly patients is that they are often affected by
other conditions that come with age, like depression, and dementia. In many cases, the elderly
patients will who suffer from delirium will pass as being depressed or having dementia, and the
patient shall have been misdiagnosed. This aspect calls for a need to have a method of identifying
delirium. The gap that has enhanced this limitation is lack of a nursing education model. One
approach for developing an effective way to identify delirium in elderly patients is to have an
education model for nursing that will improve delirium... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pros And Disadvantages Of Entrepreneur
A business leader who brings money, raw materials, manufacturing facilities, skilled labor is called
entrepreneur. Entrepreneur has worn many faces and played many roles. Most policy makers and
academics agree that entrepreneurship is critical to the development and well being of society. They
create jobs, drive and shape the innovation, speeding up the structural changes in the economy.
They are usually modeled as combinations of innovators with creative and innovative flair and
managers with general management skills.
According to the Richard Cantillon (1680 1734), entrepreneur is risk taker who has the foresight
and willingness to assume risk and take the require action to make profit or loss. His
entrepreneur is kind of forward looking and risk taking. Risks were distinguished by Frank Knight
(1885 1972) as capable of being measured and un measurable. According to Knight, entrepreneur
takes the latter risk which is no objective measure of probability of gain or loss. According to
Burke (2006), entrepreneur can be defined as a person who habitually creates and innovates to build
something of recognized value around perceived opportunities. Joseph Schumpeter (1883 1950) said
that entrepreneur is innovator who is the central figure in advancing the wealth of nations and
creating dynamics disequilibrium in the global economy. He pointed out that knowledge underlying
the innovation need not be newly discovered and may be existing knowledge that has never been

The Media Causes Eating Disorders Essay
According to the National Eating Disorder Association the media has a major influence on what
a woman s body should look like. Every print and television advertisement suggests that the ideal
body is extremely thin. However, most women cannot achieve having a super thin body that the
media favors. The resulting failure leads to negative feelings about one s self and can begin a
downward spiral toward an eating disorder (National Eating Disorders Association). A particularly
disturbing fact is that research has demonstrated that children as young as five years of age are
experiencing body imagerelated anxiety. At the same time there has been a major increase in

that the media is to blame by using a study that was done in Fiji. A natural field experiment in Fiji
revealed that the eating disorder rate increased dramatically after American television shows, which
show excessively thin female lead characters, were introduced. There are also now over 100 pro
anorexia Web sites on the Internet that not only encourage disordered eating but also offer specific

Witchcraft Hysteria
There were many significant factors that came into play at the time of the Salem witchcraft
hysteria. Of the numerable amount of factors that contributed to the hysteria the most influential
were religion, superstition, politics, economics, and concepts of gender during this time period.
People during the 1600 s lacked a basic understanding of how things around them worked
compared to what is known and generally accepted in today s world of science. For this sole reason
the concept of magicand witchcraftwas widely and generally accepted by a large majority of the
population during this time period. People often used false accusations of witchcraft against their
neighbors because it gave them a simple way to steal another person s land. Women were also not
trustworthy sources.
Religion played the most crucial role in the development of the witch hysteria. Residents in the
town of Salem were Puritans, which meant they were very immoderate in their beliefs.
Puritans believed their life purpose was to serve God, which meant vanquishing evil even if
there was no evil present. The average lifestyle of a Puritan was monotonous and dull; they
believed life was meant to be simple, and any spare time should have been spent serving God.
Puritans strived to exterminate any presence of the Devil or evil they could find so they could
pursue their quest of being worthy of being saved by their God. Puritans looked down to people

Chickenpox lesions can become infected, usually from scratching and most frequently with
bacteria called Staphylococcus These secondary infections may be severe enough to require
hospitalization. The virus is contained in the body fluids and in the lesions of skin and mucosa. It
is transmitted from person to person by droplet infection through the respiratory tract. Rarely the
condition may be caused by exposure to a case of Herpes Zoster. Once the virus enters the body it
rests and reproduces in the lymph nodes of the body for about 3 to 4 days before it travels to the
blood to infect the spleen and liver. It finally rests in the nerve roots near the spinal cord till it is
activated. No trigger maybe needed for its activation, but sometimes it waits for events like stress or
diminished immunity before it attacks. [9]
How chickenpox spread
Chickenpox is one of the most readily communicable diseases. It can be spread from person to
person by direct contact with fluid from the blisters or with secretions from the respiratory tract or
by handling an infected person s clothing or bedding. Airborne transmission is possible through
sneezing and coughing. Susceptibility to chickenpox is universal among those not previously
infected. The greatest number of cases occur in the winter and early spring. [1] The

Membrane Proteins And Non Membrane Bound Organelles

Membrane Bound Organelles: are contained within an isolated environment surrounded by a
membrane. The composition of these organelles differ in composition, shape and enzyme inclusion.
Members of Membrane Bound Organelle Systems include the Endoplasmic Reticulum, Golgi
Apparatus, Lysosomes, Mitochondria and Peroxisomes.
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER): is a continuous membrane system which forms flattened sacs within
the cytoplasm of Eukaryotic cells and acts a barrier between Cytosol and fluid with the structure.

Lysosomes: contain hydrolytic enzymes which aid in the digestion of particles and disintegration
of cells. Formed by the Golgi Apparatus, Lysosomes are surrounded by a membrane bound cell
organelle which contain acidic enzyme material, because of their small sac like appearance and
the digestive acidic material contained within, Lysosomes are often referred to as suicide sacs or
suicide bags .
Mitochondria: are oblong in appearance and contain a double membrane. Present in the cytoplasm
of nearly all Eukaryotic cells, the primary function of Mitochondria is in the creation of energy.
Commonly referred to as The Powerhouse of the Cell , Mitochondria is responsible for most of the
cell s supply of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). Other vital roles include cell growth, cycle and
death, signaling and cellular differentiation.
Peroxisomes: are membrane bound organelles similar in appearance to Lysosomes, yet they are
smaller in comparison. Peroxisomes contain catalese, peroxidase and oxidative enzymes which aid
in metabolic function, specifically in the beta oxidation of fatty acid and the conversion of
hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen.
Non Membrane Bound Organelles: are organized structures which are not bound by a membrane.
Members of Non Membrane Bound Organelles are Centrosome, Cytoskelaton, Ribosomes and
Proteasomes.

1080 Research Paper
It is known that 1080 is soluble and quickly dissolves in rivers and streams. The fact that 1080
doesn t spread and isn t cumulative is another reason why it is used instead of the other
alternatives mentioned earlier. If 1080 is placed 50 meters from a river, stream or walking
tracks. However in reality, 1080 pellets can be seen placed in all these areas. This brings up the
question, what if 1080 is getting into our water supplies and is causing people worry about the
safety of water. The problem is that there is actually no type of evidence or study done to see how
1080 effects the environmentand human health in the long termwhen it is dissolved in water has an
impact on the plants and animals that surround it.

other possible alternatives. It is better than using a poison that is uncontrolled and hurting non
targeted species. During this investigation I found that the people who were against and for the
use of 1080 had a clear bias. The information I gathered for in favour and against came from
different organisations websites. I found that both sides of the argument had good reasons for
what stance they were taking. I also found that for each viewpoint didn t reveal facts that would
cause conflict. For example, one source stated that 1080 breaks up in 3 4 weeks and a different
source claimed that it can take several months for it to break down in the right conditions. The
sources that had govt and org in their address had information that was much more valid compared
to the rest. I also found online booklets pdf files had incredibly valid information that related
directly to our export industries and pest problems. I had to read carefully and look through the

Murray Bowen s Family Systems Theory To Look At The Family
Murray Bowen s family systems theory is a theory of human behavior that looks at the family as an
expressive unit and uses systems thinking to describe the multiple interactions in the element.
Bowen, a family therapist, focused on how family members could maintain a healthy balance
between being overly involved in each other s lives and having too much detachment from each
other. He focused on four ways of helping families develop individual identities for each member
while maintaining a sense of closeness and togetherness with their families. Spousal relationships,
de triangulation, emotional systems, and differentiation are emphasized. Bowen paid attention to
the spousal relationship and the definition and clarification of the couple s relationship.

international students at a Western United States land grant university. The survey s eight sections
assessed students level of agreement in the eight following categories: personal life, cultural
concerns, academics, university programs, health care, safety, and the International Students and
Scholars Office (ISS). The questions were evaluated on a standard 5 point Likert type scale. In
addition, open ended responses were elicited for country of origin and religious beliefs to ensure
possibly answers were not omitted by the research team. Questions were divided into the eight
categories to make the survey process easier for respondents while also preserving internal validity

Comparing The Girl Who Drank The Moon And The Lost Thing
Antain represents an orphan who is longing for a sense of belonging and who is resilient in his
pursuit to find it. These characteristics are exemplified in Shaun Tan s The Lost Thing (2010).
Both Antain and the lost thing lack belonging. They fail to find their niche. They do not fit in.
They have no where to go. They are too different. There are significant parallels between both
characters in their pursuit for belonging. Immediately, in The Girl Who Drank the Moon (2016)
and The Lost Thing (2010), both characters are portrayed as outcasts. They do fit in to the society
that they have been situated. They are too different. Antain ostracized more explicitly as his is
continually bullied whereas the lost thing is neglected and forgotten (Tan, 2010, p. 3). However,
both characters lack a place where they belong and are loved unconditionally. Antain and the lost
thing both possess significant helpers. For Antain, his helper, Ethyne, appears closer to the end of
the novel. As his wife, she encourages him to pursue his dreams and loves him. The lost thing has
a young boy to guide him along his journey throughout the entire story to find a place where he can
belong (Tan, 2010, p.9).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

protecting their belonging. For Antain, he goes out into the forest to kill the with in order to protect
his family his sense of belonging. Whereas, the lost thing becomes confined in another world that
protects those that are different, like him (Tan, 2010, p.

Taking a Look at Best Buy
Synopsis
When one envisions an electronic company, Best Buy generally comes to mind. It is just like
Nike or Coca Cola. Founded in 1966, this company was formally known as Sound of Music
(Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). It was mainly a retailer of audio components. However, in the early
1980s, Best Buy began to add additional products. It was not uncommon for the next 30 years for
more products to be added as technology advanced. In 1983, the company changed its name to Best
Buy Co. and operated as a superstore (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). The entire look of this company
was changing drastically. This would include the sales staff as well. Originally, the staff had
worked on a commission based salary. However, in 1989, this structure was eliminated and sales
associates transformed into educators that assisted customers in learning about the products offered
in the stores (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). Basically, the customer took control and the employees were
there as guidance. The idea of having control in buying electronics became more common as the
technology developed. In order to let the consumer have more control, the company expanded
further by developing and releasing BestBuy.com. This website was launched in 2000 to give
customers a choice between visiting a physical store and purchasing products online (Hoffman,
2010, p.24 2).
The year 2000 was a great year for Best Buy. In addition to expanding into the online market, it
grew the number of products and services through acquiring

Logos In Thank You For Smoking
Title
In the film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon, Professor Alfred Kinsey uses science to explore and
inform the public on sex and during this era, sex was inappropriate to talk about.
On the other hand, In the movie Thank You for Smoking, directed by Jason Reitman, lobbyist
Nick Naylor defends and advocates the use of cigarettes in the country. Kinsey s argumentation
possesses logic and science, however Naylor possess more charisma, ethos, and an appeal to the
audience. Kinsey utilizes logos by having research and science justify his action and his life s
work on the sexual behaviors on men and women. However, Kinsey s research upsets private
matters at home and also rattles up the public. At home, Kinsey is manipulative towards his wife ...

Naylor s ethos is shown when he is in the conference with the senator. Naylor understands the
audience already knows that smoking is bad for oneself, so he pointed his finger to the real killer
in America, and the killer is Cholesterol or rather Virginia Cheese. Naylor understood that the
leading cause of death in America is heart disease or heart related problems. Naylor s stance on
this subject is that if you want a warning label on his cigarette, then the senator should have a
warning label that says cheese is a killer in America. Naylor shows that cheese is a killer,
however has a good connotation about itself. And right after, the senator asked, Will you give
your son his first cigarette? Naylors replied, if he wants a cigarette, I would happily buy him
one. Naylor is not an advocate for smoking; Naylor is an advocate for freedom of choice. Naylors
idea of smoking is that it s the duty of parents, teachers, and others to inform children to make
choices for themselves, not just because someone s mom says that smoking is bad for you. Naylor
shows in this instance of combining both logos and ethos of using science and the emotions of
others to influence his audience and win the

According to the information present in the speech given by a man named, Sanford J Dole, the
Americans imperializing Hawai i was a constructive motion. This is due to the fact that throughout
the speech, Dole informs his audience on the benefits both the Hawaiians and Hawai i would gain

1900, at Iolani Palace, after Dole was elected to be the governor of the Territory of Hawai i. As

This primary source assists in answering the question, Was imperialism constructive or
deconstructive, as it gives numerous examples of how the US imperialising Hawai i was
constructive. The examples included the ways the Hawaiians and Hawai i benefited from being a
territory of the US. Since the speech gives a clear western perspective on the US imperialising
Hawai i and clearly shows the audience whether imperialism was constructive or destructive for a
western perspective, it is valuable. Therefore, the examples and the clear perspective provided
assists in answering the overall question of whether imperialism was constructive or destructive.
Regardless of the valuable information sources possess, they all also have limitations. The first
limitation of the source is that the speech doesn t show both sides of imperialism. This is because

how it may have been destructive. Another limitation is that the speech was written from a western

Delivery Drones Analysis
In the recent years, recreational and delivery drones have increased, both in consumer appeal as
their technology has improved. With features such as advanced image capturing capabilities and

drones becoming popular is their potential to be used for package deliveries. Companies like
Amazon are pioneers in the use of drones to deliver their packages to customers which could lessen

Equipped with razor sharp propeller and the ability to fly thousands of feet above the ground,
drones have caused problems in the past and still are a risk to the general health of the public.
Authors Rocci Luppicini and Arthur So write that safety (21.24%) and law and regulation
(25.66%) are the most frequently cited concerns in connection with commercial drone use. Once
drones create the sense that lives are threatened when they are operating within a society, the
immediate concern is drone safety (p. 111). Although not the biggest concern, safety is still
thought to be one of the bigger problems in regards to drones and it is a top priority that this
issue is resolved. Firstly, it is not the case that drones are just death traps flying over our heads
and it is certainly not the case that they are just going to fall on our heads; however, there are
still many possible scenarios where drones can jeopardize our safety. Companies like DJI and
GoPro are constantly working on making their drones better and safer but there is still room for
human error and drones, like with all machines, can never be a hundred percent safe. One concern
with drone safety is that they often cause a nuisance for aircrafts and air traffic controllers when
the people operating the drones fly them too high. There have been several instances where plane
pilots have had to avoid these small yet

As discussed above, besides the benefits that e tailers can reap from activity based costing, this
system also brings drawbacks. Those drawbacks cause challenges for e tail corporations in
establishing the system at the beginning. Similar to other manufacturing corporations, e tail

Define activities, activity cost pools, and activity measures, (2) Assign overhead costs to activity

Customers will experience the purchase through screens. This experience/interface requires that the
electronic storefront change frequently to look appealing to but still familiar to customers.
Furthermore, the goal of acquiring of new customers for an e tail business creates a motivation for
managers to establish sales channels like affiliate sales. This gives rise to the need for building and
maintaining the affiliate relationship to facilitate the integration of information about what is
happening in the affiliates websites into the ERP system of e tailers. In selecting and managing
merchandise inventory, each inventory item must be scanned, described, classified and linked to
search options on the company s website (Article). This requirement leads to a change in the
database whenever inventory items are added or removed from the shelf. IT staff must locate and
remove obsolete and discontinued items from the current database and then annotate and add them
to the backup system to assist in profitability evaluation, forecasting, and making future
manufacturing decisions. The feature of providing diverse selections of products to customers in e

brick and mortar businesses. Moreover, information technology is considered to be the backbone of

Analysis Of The Episode Chirp
Looking back at the episode, it seemed clear to me that the three families that were presented in
the Modern Family episode Chirp, had dilemmas. Each family had to face their own conflicts,
which in different ways gets resolved in the end. These family problems in this episode includes
couples not listening to each other, sonnot getting attention, and even the husband who struggles to
show his manly side. Although the episode talks about all three families, they mainly had their own
story line.
These conflicts start with one member of the family; in this episode it is the man. In the beginning
of the episode, the Dunphy Family had trouble with the smoke detectors. Phil Dunphy, who is the
man of the family, struggles to tackle which detector is making the low battery sound. With little
success, he feels like he isn t capable of even a simple task that s generally completed by men. He
feels like he is losing his masculinity every time the smoke detectors chirp, which is literally
driving him nuts. Later, the gay couple, Mitchell and Cameron lightly argue whether to take their
adopted daughter to act in a commercial. Mitchell, which happens to make the income to provide
for the family, denies Cameron s request. Cameron complains that he makes all the decisions
because he makes the income, and gets more say for the family. To prove that he is not going to let
that stop him, he takes their daughter to act, despite what Mitchell had against it. Lastly the

Ethylene glycol is a colorless, odorless, sweet tasting chemical. It is poisonous if swallowed.
Ethylene glycol was once thought innocuous; in 1931 it was suggested as being suitable for use as

can affect the profit of the sponsors and the brand image enhancement negatively based on the
theory of Aaker (1991). Furthermore, based on Aaker s (1991) theory, the reason of the
unawareness of Creative Expo Taiwan 2016 sponsors might be the failure of letting the public
realise the brands products and services. The occasion of unfamiliarity and unrecognition

Summary Of Poem In Just By Ee Cummings
E.E Cummings distinctive style in poetry gives readers the opportunity to interpret his work in
various ways. His satirical approach challenges modern society to go against the grain and construe
his work how they individually view it. His fascination with nature allows him to create an
unpredictable yet vivid storyline for readers. Cummings use of allegory and symbolism in his poem
[in Just ] contributes to his intention of allowing readers to think for themselves.
In the poem, the speaker begins by setting the scene. It is springtime and that is all we know, but
with just that minor detail, readers can envision nice weather, a sunny day, and an overall
beautiful scenery. The speaker continues by adding more details to the scenery. When the world is
mud /luscious the little/lame balloonman... Now we are provided with mud and a balloonman.
More often than not, when there is mud there are either children or animals around. In this case,
we learn that it is in fact children playing around having a splendid time in mud. It seems typical
that kids are enjoying the weather while getting dirty, but then there is a balloonman that is
presented. The balloonman seems to be slightly disabled as he is referred to as the little lame
balloonman with the term lame meaning he has a limp when he walks. It seems odd that there is a
person with a limp that is presented in such an environment that the speaker previously depicted.
The balloonman appears to be content with himself as he is whistling and minding his own business.
The speaker then introduces readers to two boys eddieandbill . The names are not bothered
being separated because the speaker wants to emphasize the close relationship between the two.
The lack of spacing between the names exudes that the boys have a two peas in a pod kind of
bond. Throughout the poem, the speaker constantly reminds us that it is spring and adds more
details to the setting. The repetition of the time of the year being spring grants readers the idea
that this is important and a wonderful season. The world is referred to as puddle wonderful in the
middle of the poem and it appears that the poem is beginning to pick up. The balloon man is an
oddball. The spotlight appears to be on

Elf Battle and Gwyndor
A long time ago, in a land far, far away from this land we know, there was a land called Gwyndor,
a place where all kinds of life existed. Men, Dwarves, Elves and other creatures lived in this
mysterious land. However, Gwyndor was not all a place of peace and prosperity, far off near the
borders of the east, there was a land called Azurg, a land where the sun forbid to shine and
simply setting foot in the land drains the life right out of you if you were not strong enough.
Right in the center of Azurg there was a dark and gloomy empire filled with hundreds of
thousands of fang bearing, fearsome creatures who crafted crude weapons out of metal they
gained from fallen warriors whom they slayed, but in the center of the empire there was a lone
tower, and in this tower there was a conjurer of dark magic whom no man had ever seen, for once

record the base station and each test point coordinates (latitudes and longitudes), together with the
Received Signal Strength (RSS) in which the TEMS serves as the Mobile Unit, for this purpose. In
each of the three sectors of the six (6) targets Base Transmitting Stations, Ten (10) different
Received Power measurements were conducted. Variances were observed in the measurements, at
the same distance in the different sectors for all the BTSs which signifies different levels of clutter
on the Propagation path. The path loss exponent, n, was derived statistically through the application
of linear regression analysis technique by minimising in a mean square sense, the difference
between the Measured Path Loss and the Predicted Path Loss. The Receive Signal Strength (RSS)
measurements were applied to determine the Path Loss that characterize Enugu Urban environment.

Varicella Zoster Virus
Varicella zoster virus (VZV) is an exclusively human virus that belongs to the О± herpes virus
family. The VZV present worldwide and is highly infectious. Primary infection leads to acute
varicella or chickenpox , usually from exposure either through direct contact with a skin lesion or
through airborne spread from respiratory droplets [2, 3]. After initial infection, VZV establishes
lifelong latency in cranial nerve and dorsal root ganglia, and can reactivate years to decades later
as herpes zoster (HZ) or shingles [4]. In addition, more than 90% of adults in the United States
acquired the disease in childhood, while the majority of children and young adults have been
vaccinated with the live virus vaccine[3, 5]. The increasing incidence

Disadvantages Of Free Trade
First, free trade is the economic policy of not discriminating against imports from and exports to
foreign jurisdictions. Sellers and Buyers from separate economies may deliberately trade without
the domestic government applying quotas, tariffs, prohibitions, or subsidies on their goods and
services. With emphasis, free tradeis the opposite of economic isolationism or trade protectionism.
Not to mention, governments with free trade agreements (FTAs) do not necessarily disregard all
control of taxation of exports and imports. In modern international trade, hardly any so called FTAs
fit the textbook definition of free trade (Investopedia, 2017).
Correspondingly, International trade is the foundation upon which American prosperity rests. Free
trade policies have built a level of competition in today s open market that engen ders continual
modernization and leads to better paying jobs, better products, new markets, and increased savings
and investment. Also, free trade allows more goods and services to reach American consumers at
lower prices, thereby considerably increasing their standard of living. Likewise, the benefits of
free trade continue well beyond American households. Not to men tion, free trade helps spread the
value of freedom, foster economic development in poor coun tries, and reinforce the rule of law.
The national debate over trade related issues too often dis regards these important benefits (Froning,
2000).
With emphasis, the positive effects of an open

Causes And Effects Of The Indian Ocean Tsunami
When people ask me how it felt, I just say imagine being thrown into a washing machine and
someone pressing on for 10 15 minutes (Crashing Down: A Tsunami Survivor Tells His Story),
says Victor Israelsson, a survivor of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. The Indian Ocean Tsunami of
2004 was a massive disaster in size, affects, and casualties. On December 26, 2004 the Indian Ocean
erupted into one of the biggest tsunamis in Earth s recorded history. The tsunamiwas caused by a
massive 9.0 earthquakethat was located near the coast of Sumatra. The extreme movement of the
Earth s tectonic plates displaced water in the Indian Ocean. The energy of the quake was compared
to the equivalent of 23,000 Hiroshima type bombs. The energy forcibly shot through the ocean in
every direction and displaced the sea floor. The Indian Ocean Tsunami traveled around 300,000
miles to Africa, but still carried the momentum to kill people and destroy property. Scientists
concluded that the tsunami height was between 9m high along the entire stretch of the coast, the
average tsunami height is 3m (10 ft). The Indian Ocean Tsunami caused waves three times bigger
than the average tsunami, the Indian Ocean Tsunami was the third largest tsunami in the 2000 s.
An inverse method is developed to optimize the seafloor displacement on the fault plane based on
the measurements of satellite Jason 1. Many things were affected during this tsunami, some things
bigger than others. During the Indian Ocean Tsunami

In the story 7 The Black Cat the author Edgar Allan Poe whites all the horror and terrible things

Employee Performance Appraisals
Performance Appraisals: Due to the growing focus on the personnel s development, there is an
increasing concern regarding the use of effective assessment methods. Performance appraisals are
being used by a large number of organizations for assessing their employee s performance and its
effects on the organization as a whole. Similarly, universities make use of the assessment methods
to assess the learning of their students. Despite the Popularity of performance appraisals there is an
ongoing debate regarding the effectiveness of the assessment methods and use of performance
appraisals (Schraeder, Becton Protis, 2007). This believe can be further strengthen up by the
research done by Clinton O Stephen J, which shows that less that 20... Show more content on

The most common them are 360 degree appraisal, the traditional (supervisor to subordinate)
performance appraisal and the competency based appraisal system. Traditional performance
appraisal: Traditional approach to performance appraisal or manager to subordinate performance
measurement systems are becoming obsolete and out of place from the organizational culture, it is
much of a parent child or authoritarian approach in which the power of decision is solely held by
the higher authority (Meyer H, 1991). Traditional approach mainly focuses on measuring the
individual s performance, and the efforts are centred for improving the individual differences rather
then the collective or organizational problems as a whole, it highlights the employee faults and
errors rather then that of the system and this also discourages employee to seek help from their co
workers and to accept the challenges which can reveal the areas of their weak performance
(Schaubroeck Lam, 1999). In this particular approach individual performances are linked with
subsequent rewards so it is important for the supervisors to quantitatively measure the individual
performances, and due to this reason the less quantitative performance outcomes like quality
improvements are often neglected (Schaubroeck Lam, 1999). Due to the linkage of the rewards

Essay about Federal Welfare Reform
Federal Welfare Reform: A Critical Perspective
Abstract:
This project will examine welfare reform, which was signified by the signing of the Personal
Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act (PRWOA) in 1996. PRWOA replaced the original
welfare act of 1935, titled Aid to Dependent Children (later changed to Aid to Families with
Dependent
Children), with the program Temporary Assistance to needy Families (TANF). Under PRWOA,
TANF was instated as a system of block grants allocated to states to implement their own forms of
assistance and replaced programs like the cash assistance program, Aid to Families with Dependent
Children, and the Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training. The most influential change of this
legislation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, by focusing exclusively on the decline in TANF caseloads, welfarereform is portrayed as a
wild success that has allowed families to move from dependence on welfare to greater
independence through work (U.S. Department of Health). These sources talk extensively about
empowerment, protection, and independence as related directly to work, welfare reform, and its
reauthorization. They emphasize a national interest in spending cuts which they assume to be
exclusive from the interests of the nation s poor.
The other sources I consulted that were unaffiliated with the government either contradicted or
conflicted with the analysis of welfare reform s success in one way or another. Instead of
focusing on the decline in TANF caseloads, these sources looked critically and holistically at
welfare reform as a policy and its effect on individuals and families. Instead of ending the analysis
with the removal of recipients from the welfare roles, Fremstad, Melendez, and Goldberg examine
the long term consequences of removal in terms of poverty, remaining barriers to employment such
as disability or childcare, and the affects of reduced educational capitol. In emphasizing these
aspects of welfare reform s impact, the authors reach dramatically different conclusions than the
government affiliated sources. Fremstad, Melendez, and

The US LCD TV industry is highly competitive and fast changing. The industry transitions from

s innovation business model through lowering price while maintaining high quality products shifts
industry dynamics substantially and made it a strong player in the LCD TV market. A five force

The company makes smart moves to lock in the long term outsourcing relationships with AmTran
and Hon Hai by accumulatively offering 31% equity shares of Vizio. The diversified strategic
partnerships allow Vizio to secure high quality products, flexible manufacturing for different TV
sizes, on time delivery and favorable manufacturing charges.
Distribution Vizio targets membership based retailer Costco as its top distribution partner. This
proves to be effective in balancing Vizio s financial viability and product positioning. Although
selling TV products in electronic retailers such as BestBuy delivers higher brand image and directs
to more target customers, distribution terms with such top electronic retailer are likely to be
unfavorable to Vizio, increasing the firm s distribution cost. Meanwhile, Vizio does not want to
partner with low end product retailers that may signal lower quality of its products. The company s
move to partner with Sam s Club aligns with its existing distribution strategy.
Marketing Vizio takes a low cost marketing strategy to further control the cost. By showcasing in
nationwide distribution channels and leveraging word of mouth effect, the firm largely grabs
market share. It then starts a brand boosting campaign to solidify its brand image in the US.
It concludes that Vizio is able to achieve cost saving throughout the LCD TV value chain and hence

Literary Analysis Of Desiree s Baby
Single Element Desiree s Baby Kate Chopin s Desiree s Baby is the story of an abandoned child
by the name of Desiree; adopted and brought up by Madame Valmont in the countryside of
Louisiana. She later grows up, conceives a child, and marries her childhood sweetheart Armand,
with the intention of giving her the perfect family she failed to receive. The two are profoundly
in love, and continue to flourish in happiness until one day something changes. With suspicion
and curiosity towards the race of the baby and Desiree, Armand suddenly becomes distant from
the two; portraying an unpleasant attitude towards her and his slaves. Unwanted, Desiree
disappears with the child, and is never seen again. One day while burning old memories of his
former spouse, Armand will be conflicted with a shocking discovery that leaves the reader in
awe. This amazing story reveals how the power of judgement, and uncertainty can ironically come
back to haunt you in the end. There are many examples of language given from the author that
helps the reader achieve a certain understanding on the specific parts in the story. The narrator
reads from the third person omniscient point of view, and greatly describes the events leading up
to the tragedy of what once was filled with pure joy. With the ability to unfold the thoughts of the
omniscient view, the reader is able to analyze true emotions from the central and supporting
characters that later can be identified as a specific type of language. For

Edgar s Suicide In The Art Of War
Of one thing, Edgar was certain. He would not be crushed with the mob... He would not allow
himself to be humiliated (Frank 122)
I really enjoyed Edgar s character even if he was short lived. He was meant to be the snobby bank
dealer who grew up in a wealthy family and held himself above the average man. In other books he
would have been the antagonist who falls in a bout of flames trying to stop the protagonist from
wrecking his plan to destroy the world s economy. The average acquisitive man who doesn t
quite understand the quote Money is the center to all evils . But no, Edgar didn t have a world
ending plan, he was just your average banker who loves his job. He would be considered a side
character. But his character represented the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I want to focus on the key points in the statement above. Suicide is a very common thing in
history, literature, and sadly reality itself. It could be caused by many things, in this case I
believe what caused Edgar to put a bullet through his skull was a trigger of bad impulsive
behavior. Some of his last thoughts were of not wanting to live in a world without dollars, and
how dishonourable it would be. If he had thought over how illogical his plan of escape was, I
don t think he would have continued. The cowardice statement could be a metaphor for death,
and how fear could trap the person who created it into their own deaths. A deer in the headlights
if you will. Edgar was a coward for not having the guts to face their fears, and going out and
trying to survive, but immediately going to a gun s help. But fear is not easy to escape, and
something all of us can relate to most of all.I myself have a slight fear of unevenness and being
alone. Edgar probably had a fear of disorder without knowing, and the sudden impact of it just, as I
said before, fried his nerves. This causing him not to think straight and jump off the Brookland

Bandura Social Learning Theory
Social learning theory (SLT), developed by psychologist Albert Bandura in 1977, laid the
framework by which people learn by observing a set of behaviors believed to be acceptable or
unacceptable (Wulfert, 2016). To further understand SLT, this paper discusses the concepts and
principles behind Bandura s theory, reviews its contribution to human behaviors, critiques it, and
considers the roles social learning plays in diversity, as well as in equality in economic and social
justice.
Social Learning Theory s Main Concepts and Principles SLT is grounded in the fact that humans
acquire behaviors throughout their lifetime by acquiring knowledge through observation and
modeling. People socially influence each other through their interactions, and typically change their
desirable behaviors due to positive or negative outcomes observed (Nabavi, 2012). Bandura notes
the fundamental elements of SLT include interaction of both individuals and situations. Learning
the effects of SLT from observing others behaviors and situations can directly influence a person s
choice, as both parts are a result of the other (Hanna, Crittenden, Crittenden, 2013). There are three
main principles Bandura proposed for SLT: a person s ability to learn through observation, self
regulation, and reciprocal determinism. People can learn new behavior through observation; this
can be acquired through direct or indirect observation (Grusec, 1992). This can be seen in Bandura
s Bobo doll experiment, in

Sundiata An Epic Of Old Mali Summary
The sacred traditions, customs, and beliefs of ancient Mali is a story of epic proportions. To
retrieve the great lineage of the First Kings of Mali and learn the history behind certain rituals told
by an exquisite narrative that is perfectly woven together through different stories. The legend of
Sundiata stresses the importance of understanding and respecting one s history. In D. T. Niane s
Sundiata An Epic of Old Mali, the African history of Mali is presented through tribal customs,
honor, and jealousy between brothers.
Years and years ago in Africa, certain customs and traditions were set in place that governed
different regions and tribes. People in Mali had a unique tradition bearer. In the first chapter of
Niane s Sundiata An Epic of Old Mali, the reader is introduced to a griot who explains his role
and his ancestor s knowledge on ancient Mali. The art of eloquence has no secrets for us;
without us the names of kings would vanish into oblivion,... by the spoken word we bring to life
the deeds and exploits of kings for younger generations. (Page 1) In a humble but guaranteed
tone, the griot assures the reader that he is the keeper of all. His knowledge expands beyond what
is now and covers what has been. Everything that has occurred in the kingdom of Mali is
imperative for the griots to remember so the future kings would understand their heritage. They are
the overseers of knowledge and without them there is no way the kings of Mali would have
flourished.

Essay on Massai Culture
Massai Culture I have chosen my paper on the African Cattle People, specifically the Massai
Culture. The Massai culture seemed to have more than meets the eye when we studied them in
class, so I had to venture on to a website to see what else I could find out about them. In general,
the Massai have several practices: circumcision and clitoridectomy, an age group system, shaving of
the heads of women, extraction of two lower front teeth, the one legged stanceof the heron, and the
use of spit in greeting and benediction. The Massai s religion, laibons, circumcisions, cattle,
warriors, elders and cattle raiding were just a few characteristics of their culture, making themselves
unique of all the rest of the world.

Engai had three children, and he gave each a gift. The first child received and arrow to make his
living by hunting, the second a hoe to dig the land and grow crops, and the third a stick to use in
herding cattle. And the third son, whose name was Natero Kop, was the father of the Massai. I just
find it crazy how these certain cultures can come up with stories, theories or whatever it is they are
coming up with. And to believe that they entrusted all their faith and never were led astray from
their religion, makes me develop a strong respect for their culture.
In studying the Massai in class I became aware of the strong representation that cattle made in
the Massai culture. The people would go as far as naming the cattle as if they were their own
pets. The believed that cattle were the next best things to God, cattle were everything. Since the
Massai were semi nomadic pastoralists, this meant they would travel searching for new grazing
pastures. Going back to their Gods; Massai believe that the Rain God Engai granted all cattle to
them for safe keeping when the earth and sky split. The bond between the Massai and the cattle
was inseparable. The Massai knew each cattle by voice, color and eye. The Massai would slice the
ears of the cattle in a certain way so they can recognize that it belongs to a certain clan. The cattle
would provide the following for the Massai: milk; blood; a simple

  • 2. The Rise Of Asian Civilizations Do you feel that Asian Civilizations from 1500 to 1700 veered towards modernity or careened back toward traditional culture? From the 16th to 18th century, the prominent Asian Civilizations were the Mughal Empire, the Ming Dynasty of China and the Edo Period of Japan. There was an obvious trend that these empires leaned toward traditional culture mainly because of political influences. Although there were also several aspects of each society such as the more important role of women in the Mughal Empire, the interactions of the Jesuits with Chinaand Japan that might be indicative of modernity or act as a precursor to modern values, the reversion of traditional culture in each civilization is so much greater that it outweighed the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, farming lands were reclaimed, campaigns of reforestation were initiated, roads and canals were paved and dug, and irrigation and flood prevention measures were constructed. Instead of focusing on trading and commercialism like their previous Mongolian rulers, the Ming reverted back to the traditional Chinese agrarian society. At around the 16th Century, the Edo Period began in Japan, marked by the ruling of the Tokugawa Ieyasu over Daimyos, or feudal lords. Because of his military strength, the Shogun was able to help restore the Imperial rule to its former glory by granting lands to the royal family and creating a system that emulates tradition, installing the Emperor as the head of Japan, when in reality it is but a figurehead. However, at least it is ceremonially important and is considered upholding of traditional values. The Shogun also banned Japanese from traveling abroad as well as completely isolating Japan from the rest of the world after several disputes with Europeans and their Jesuits. This is why Japan remained largely uninfluenced by modern Western Ideals until the 18th century. Another noteworthy example of traditionalism in these civilizations is the presence of a strong caste system within their society. In the Mughal Empire, the caste system of the Indians which make up the most of the population was still in effect at that time. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Argumentative Essay On Organ Donation The medical industry had been achieving more in the stage of medical advancements, though they are still in the early phase. Artificial organs have been one of those achievements. Although they have achieved such, artificial organs are not perfect. Most doctors as well as patients would prefer to replace a dying organ with a compatible human organ, rather than with an artificial or animal organ. Yet due to a there being less organs donated than recipients, artificial and animal organs are becoming more common in transplants. Most of this issue is because people are unaware of how organ donationworks, the organs that can be donated, how many people are in need, and the advancements that have happened in the field. Organ donation saves hundreds of lives every year, but many lives are recklessly lost due to a shortage of organ donors. Organ donation is the medical process of voluntarily giving one or more of your organs to someone in need, whether it be someone you know or a stranger. It is strictly voluntary, no payment for the organ/s will be given from the hospital, the recipient or the recipients family. In organ donation, there are two types of donations, living organ donation and deceased organ donation. Living organ donation is when the donor is still alive and voluntarily chooses to donate one or more of their organs to a recipient(s) in need. Whereas, deceased organ donation happens after the donor has passed away, and consent was given to be able to donate their organs. In living organ donation, before a donor can donate there are tests administrated to see if the donor is suitable to donate. There is an evaluation of the donor done to make sure that no physical, psychological, or emotional harm will happen to them before, during, or after donating (Organdonor.gov U.S. Government Information on Organ Donation and Transplantation). In living organ donation, most donations happen within family members, or between close friends, although there are stranger donations that happen. Living organ donors should generally be physically fit, in good health, and between the ages of 18 to 60. They should not have a history or have diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, kidney disease, or heart disease ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Pharisees Rationale Dagyeong Yang (Irene) Dr. Paul R. Sauer REL200 The Pharisees Rationale Sadducees, Pharisees, Essenes, and Zealots are four major Jewish sects active in Palestine at the Second Temple Judaism period around 25 B.C. to 70 A.D. Those sects had distinguished characteristics and beliefs. A scroll written in Hebrew language in a stone box, which discovered by archaeologists was written by one of the four Jewish sects based on their belief. The scroll points out in the first few sentences that the Lord they believe in respects other s religious belief unlike their profane enemies, Romans, who consider the Lord and them as the destruction. The Pharisees wrote the scroll as they believed following laws, rules, and regulations leads one to the Lord and eternal life. Sadducees, one of the major sects, did not believe about resurrection, angels, and souls. Their belief was strongly based on five books of Moses (6, slide # 12 13). They were the ones who had power, wealth and were considered high priests. The Sadducees were lived during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Pharisees were a political party, social movement, and educators during the Second Temple age. From the New Testament, Pharisees had conflicts with John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. The biggest difference between the Sadducees and Pharisees is the latter believes in the afterlife. It is discussed in the lecture slide as platonic immortality of the soul and end time bodily resurrection (6, Slide#22). They believed that good people would be reincarnated into other bodies while bad people will suffer eternal punishment. The text from the scroll stated, Messiah come and strike the earth with the word of His mouth . He is timid, thoughtful, intelligent yet his social awkwardness blocks it all. He is a wallflower, as seen in the movie, found between attempting to carry on with his life but running away from it. Charlie endeavors to explore his way through unfamiliar domain: the world of first dates, mixtapes, family dramas, friends, sex, drugs, and the play The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is an important event to the story that made Rebecca question about Gemma s past. Becca found a box full of old pictures of Gemma leading all the clues to a place called Kulmhof. Kulmhof is not an ordinary place, it was a concentration camp no, it was a place of extermination. Harvey had said that no woman nor a man had ever escaped the extermination camp alive. Gemma had always been secretive about her past and no one in the family even knew her real name, let alone where she came from or how she came to be in the United States. Becca had made a promise to her dying grandmother which leads her to a remarkable journey to uncover the truth about Gemma s astonishing claim, I am Briar Rose . What would Becca find about Gemma s real identity? Who is Gemma really is? The story of Briar Rose is a mysterious, interesting, and sometimes depressing book which keeps you on the edge of your seat to find out what twist will happen next. It is a darker version of the fairy tale, so if you pick it up don t be surprised expecting something like Disney s Sleeping Beauty because this is not an ordinary fairy tale that has witches or curses. The story follows the same general lines as the fairy tale BUT one major change is that it was taken during the Holocaust, some of these events did happen, making it a story that strikes deep. This book makes it the perfect story that makes you jump around in different time periods and perspective. • 7. Stephen King’s “Why We Crave Horror Movies” Essay examples It was the summer of 1983; I was reading my first Horror novel by Jay Anson The Amityville Horror , it was the scariest thing I had ever picked up. Despite the late hours I continued to read into the early morning hours until my eyes burned for relief. Whenever I got up to use the rest room I would stand on the end of my bed lean over and open the door and jump so not to be grabbed by monsters that might be laying in wait under my bed. This started a long love affair for horror stories. For instance Stephen King is known as the master of horror; I have read all his older novels. Watched a few of his movies and discovered the movies are B rated compared to the books. His newer work is a little more farfetched for me more like Sci Fi, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, if I catch the movie before the book comes out I am able to enjoy it more, after watching movie first; I like to read the book to compare the two. Last year when the book, Shutter Island reached the book stores I purchased it immediately. While I was in the middle of reading it the audio book was released, so I decided to download it to my MP3 player. I located my place in the book and picked up there on my MP3 player so while following along in my book I listened to the audio. To my surprise the two were very different, not much that you would say they wrote two different books. Although enough you could tell the reader was not reading from the same book you were. As I followed along listening, the reader was adding parts that were not in my book, now these pieces could have been in the original books manuscript from which he might be reading, but it helped to give further insight into the story. Having really enjoyed reading this piece, however watching the movie after reading the book anyone could pick out at least fifteen things that were in the book that was left out of the movie. I personally believe this is what made the movie a major failure at the box office. Now you can understand my reasoning for not watching the movies and why I d rather read the ... • 8. The Ocean Pollution I m in the ocean every day, it s my second home. Because of this, I am very sensitive to literary and other pollution that ends up in our oceans. I can t walk down the beach today without seeing a pile of trash. Because of this curiosity, I wanted to research what another type of litter fill our local ocean. Our ocean is filthy, Plastics and fibers make their way into the sea naturally every day. Apart from the rest of the trash, some of these plastics and fibers are microscopic, coining the term microfibers or microplastics. This problem is getting worse. Much like global warming in the past, this problem is not clearly obvious. As a society, we have made numerous efforts to begin to clean up our oceans and beaches, but our tiny particle problem still goes undetected, unevaluated, and unresolved for most of the world s population. So we will probably ask how are they getting there? Microplastics and microfibers find their way to the ocean in a few ways. Whether it s through our washing machine, thought beach litter, or our use of cheap synthetic materials, we are creating water systems filled with these tiny particles. The fibers then bypass filters and make their way into the ocean. With a microscopic size, microplastics clearly aren t a threat to marine life. I ve been surfing all my life and I had no idea there was such a thing as microplastics. But these tiny particles are everywhere, and the question still resides, what does this mean for marine life? The effect of microplastics on our oceans marine life is indirect and therefore less obvious. Unlike microplastics, standard trash can directly harm animals by suffocating birds or imitating food. Microplastics play no direct threat to marine life, however, their long term effect on clams, oysters, and other filter feeders will surely cause long term catastrophe to our marine food web. So that brings us to the overlying problem, tiny microplastics and microfibers in our oceans created by a society built on synthetic materials are causing huge negative effects in our ocean s food webs. By bringing awareness to all these factors solutions can then be formed. We will first look at what negative effects microfiber and microplastics have on our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Application Of A Raspberry Pi Everyday all over the world thousands of dollars are wasted by people forgetting or not knowing that they have left their lights on. As a person who enjoys fixing problems I set out to design a product to fix this problem. Before I explain the things, I have researched I should probably explain my product itself. My product consists of a Raspberry Pi, light sensor, another circuit, and multiple components for visual purposes and for voltage reading. As most of the parts for this have already been made and are compatible with the Raspberry Pi, most of my product consist of costume made coding. The first thing I researched was the Raspberry Pi as it is the main component of this product. A Raspberry Pi is basically a single board computer with all the same components as a normal computer, but just much smaller. The main coding language that is used on a Raspberry Pi is Python (that is what language we decided to go with). Finding out that a Raspberry Pi is just a tiny computer I decided the next step would be to research the parts of a computer to fully understand how the Raspberry Pi would be handling the data sent to it by the modules. The first main part of a computer is the CPU (Central Processing Unit). The Central Processing Unit takes the data, numbers, and information given to the computer and processes it in to data that the other parts of the computer can use. The easiest way to describe it is as the brains of the computer as it basically does the same thing as our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare uses a variety of linguistic devices and dramatic techniques for character development from Act 2 Scene 2 to Scene 4. We see Angelo s precise, business like persona transform to temptation, and final cruelty whilst we see the true, confident side of Isabella as as she attempts to convince Angelo to reverse his judgement, but eventually loses her ignorant hope on the realisation of his true purpose . In Act 2 Scene 2 Shakespeare portrays Angelo as precise, intelligently dealing with the pleas of Isabella to save the life of her brother by reversing the death sentence that has been handed down to him.... Alternatively, one could see her character as self righteous and hypocritical, as we later discover when she values her chastity higher than her brother s life. Isabella continues arguing with Angelo until he finally relents and tells her to come back the next day to hear his judgement. Everyone leaves, and Angelo speaks a rather striking soliloquy, apparently talking to himself ...what art thou Angelo? Dost thou desire her foully for those things that make her good? . Thus, through Shakespeare s staging, we learn that Angelo admits to himself that he is in love with Isabella because of her virtue and purity. Often characters in Shakespeare s plays have soliloquies but they do not often refer to themselves in third person and when they do, it is often a sign of madness. Perhaps Shakespeare is suggesting this as a sign for Angelo. What is certain is that he is struggling with an inward battle between what he knows he should do and what he desires to do, as his develops and starts questioning the morality of his own character. It is with great irony that Isabella s call to Angelo to mark the weaknesses in his own heart is answered by Angelo s acknowledgement that he is tempted by Isabella. It is this temptation that brings from Angelo his first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Delirium has been defined as a sharp change in cognition that cannot be associated with dementia which is either evolving or already in existence. These sharp changes in cognition will normally occur within hours or days (Alzhemiers, 2002). It is categorized as reversible. Some of the symptoms for patients who have delirium include lack of attention, disorganized mode of thinking, altered mode of attention and consciousness, and continuous disturbances. One of the remedies for treating delirium is early diagnosis and treatment. Elderly patients are prone to delirium and, therefore, are more affected. The problem with elderly patients is that they are often affected by other conditions that come with age, like depression, and dementia. In many cases, the elderly patients will who suffer from delirium will pass as being depressed or having dementia, and the patient shall have been misdiagnosed. This aspect calls for a need to have a method of identifying delirium. The gap that has enhanced this limitation is lack of a nursing education model. • 32. The Movement Of Protest Movement Essay The Movement of Protest 1)It was a decade of extremes, of transformational change and bizarre contrasts: flower children and assassins, idealism and alienation, rebellion and backlash. For many in the massive post World War II baby boom generation, it was both the best of times and the worst of times. (K. • 33. Analysis Of The Episode Chirp Looking back at the episode, it seemed clear to me that the three families that were presented in the Modern Family episode Chirp, had dilemmas. Each family had to face their own conflicts, which in different ways gets resolved in the end. These family problems in this episode includes couples not listening to each other, sonnot getting attention, and even the husband who struggles to show his manly side. Although the episode talks about all three families, they mainly had their own story line. These conflicts start with one member of the family; in this episode it is the man. In the beginning of the episode, the Dunphy Family had trouble with the smoke detectors. Phil Dunphy, who is the man of the family, struggles to tackle which detector is making the low battery sound. With little success, he feels like he isn t capable of even a simple task that s generally completed by men. He feels like he is losing his masculinity every time the smoke detectors chirp, which is literally driving him nuts. Later, the gay couple, Mitchell and Cameron lightly argue whether to take their adopted daughter to act in a commercial. Mitchell, which happens to make the income to provide for the family, denies Cameron s request. Cameron complains that he makes all the decisions because he makes the income, and gets more say for the family. To prove that he is not going to let that stop him, he takes their daughter to act, despite what Mitchell had against it. Lastly the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Summary Of Poem In Just By Ee Cummings E.E Cummings distinctive style in poetry gives readers the opportunity to interpret his work in various ways. His satirical approach challenges modern society to go against the grain and construe his work how they individually view it. His fascination with nature allows him to create an unpredictable yet vivid storyline for readers. Cummings use of allegory and symbolism in his poem [in Just ] contributes to his intention of allowing readers to think for themselves. In the poem, the speaker begins by setting the scene. It is springtime and that is all we know, but with just that minor detail, readers can envision nice weather, a sunny day, and an overall beautiful scenery. The speaker continues by adding more details to the scenery. When the world is mud /luscious the little/lame balloonman... Now we are provided with mud and a balloonman. More often than not, when there is mud there are either children or animals around. In this case, we learn that it is in fact children playing around having a splendid time in mud. It seems typical that kids are enjoying the weather while getting dirty, but then there is a balloonman that is presented. The balloonman seems to be slightly disabled as he is referred to as the little lame balloonman with the term lame meaning he has a limp when he walks. It seems odd that there is a person with a limp that is presented in such an environment that the speaker previously depicted. The balloonman appears to be content with himself as he is whistling and minding his own business. The speaker then introduces readers to two boys eddieandbill . The names are not bothered being separated because the speaker wants to emphasize the close relationship between the two. The lack of spacing between the names exudes that the boys have a two peas in a pod kind of bond. Throughout the poem, the speaker constantly reminds us that it is spring and adds more details to the setting. The repetition of the time of the year being spring grants readers the idea that this is important and a wonderful season. The world is referred to as puddle wonderful in the middle of the poem and it appears that the poem is beginning to pick up. The balloon man is an oddball. The spotlight appears to be on ... Sellers and Buyers from separate economies may deliberately trade without the domestic government applying quotas, tariffs, prohibitions, or subsidies on their goods and services. With emphasis, free tradeis the opposite of economic isolationism or trade protectionism. Not to mention, governments with free trade agreements (FTAs) do not necessarily disregard all control of taxation of exports and imports. In modern international trade, hardly any so called FTAs fit the textbook definition of free trade (Investopedia, 2017). Correspondingly, International trade is the foundation upon which American prosperity rests. Free trade policies have built a level of competition in today s open market that engen ders continual modernization and leads to better paying jobs, better products, new markets, and increased savings and investment. Also, free trade allows more goods and services to reach American consumers at lower prices, thereby considerably increasing their standard of living. Likewise, the benefits of free trade continue well beyond American households. Not to men tion, free trade helps spread the value of freedom, foster economic development in poor coun tries, and reinforce the rule of law. The Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004 was a massive disaster in size, affects, and casualties. On December 26, 2004 the Indian Ocean erupted into one of the biggest tsunamis in Earth s recorded history. The tsunamiwas caused by a massive 9.0 earthquakethat was located near the coast of Sumatra. The extreme movement of the Earth s tectonic plates displaced water in the Indian Ocean. The energy of the quake was compared to the equivalent of 23,000 Hiroshima type bombs. The energy forcibly shot through the ocean in every direction and displaced the sea floor. The Indian Ocean Tsunami traveled around 300,000 miles to Africa, but still carried the momentum to kill people and destroy property. Scientists concluded that the tsunami height was between 9m high along the entire stretch of the coast, the average tsunami height is 3m (10 ft). Traditional approach mainly focuses on measuring the individual s performance, and the efforts are centred for improving the individual differences rather then the collective or organizational problems as a whole, it highlights the employee faults and errors rather then that of the system and this also discourages employee to seek help from their co workers and to accept the challenges which can reveal the areas of their weak performance (Schaubroeck Lam, 1999). Some of his last thoughts were of not wanting to live in a world without dollars, and how dishonourable it would be. But fear is not easy to escape, and something all of us can relate to most of all.I myself have a slight fear of unevenness and being alone. Edgar probably had a fear of disorder without knowing, and the sudden impact of it just, as I said before, fried his nerves. This causing him not to think straight and jump off the Brookland Bridge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Bandura Social Learning Theory Social learning theory (SLT), developed by psychologist Albert Bandura in 1977, laid the framework by which people learn by observing a set of behaviors believed to be acceptable or unacceptable (Wulfert, 2016). To further understand SLT, this paper discusses the concepts and principles behind Bandura s theory, reviews its contribution to human behaviors, critiques it, and considers the roles social learning plays in diversity, as well as in equality in economic and social justice. Social Learning Theory s Main Concepts and Principles SLT is grounded in the fact that humans acquire behaviors throughout their lifetime by acquiring knowledge through observation and modeling. People socially influence each other through their interactions, and typically change their desirable behaviors due to positive or negative outcomes observed (Nabavi, 2012). Bandura notes the fundamental elements of SLT include interaction of both individuals and situations. Learning the effects of SLT from observing others behaviors and situations can directly influence a person s choice, as both parts are a result of the other (Hanna, Crittenden, Crittenden, 2013). There are three main principles Bandura proposed for SLT: a person s ability to learn through observation, self regulation, and reciprocal determinism. People can learn new behavior through observation; this can be acquired through direct or indirect observation (Grusec, 1992). This can be seen in Bandura s Bobo doll experiment, in ... • 54. Essay on Massai Culture Massai Culture I have chosen my paper on the African Cattle People, specifically the Massai Culture. The Massai culture seemed to have more than meets the eye when we studied them in class, so I had to venture on to a website to see what else I could find out about them. In general, the Massai have several practices: circumcision and clitoridectomy, an age group system, shaving of the heads of women, extraction of two lower front teeth, the one legged stanceof the heron, and the use of spit in greeting and benediction. The Massai s religion, laibons, circumcisions, cattle, warriors, elders and cattle raiding were just a few characteristics of their culture, making themselves unique of all the rest of the world. Speaking first of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Engai had three children, and he gave each a gift. The first child received and arrow to make his living by hunting, the second a hoe to dig the land and grow crops, and the third a stick to use in herding cattle. And the third son, whose name was Natero Kop, was the father of the Massai. I just find it crazy how these certain cultures can come up with stories, theories or whatever it is they are coming up with. And to believe that they entrusted all their faith and never were led astray from their religion, makes me develop a strong respect for their culture. In studying the Massai in class I became aware of the strong representation that cattle made in the Massai culture. The people would go as far as naming the cattle as if they were their own pets. The believed that cattle were the next best things to God, cattle were everything. Since the Massai were semi nomadic pastoralists, this meant they would travel searching for new grazing pastures. Going back to their Gods; Massai believe that the Rain God Engai granted all cattle to them for safe keeping when the earth and sky split. The bond between the Massai and the cattle was inseparable. The Massai knew each cattle by voice, color and eye. The Massai would slice the ears of the cattle in a certain way so they can recognize that it belongs to a certain clan. The cattle would provide the following for the Massai: milk; blood; a simple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
