Abstinence Education Programs Argumentative Analysis
Analysis of the Ineffectiveness of Abstinence Education Programs Argument
Does abstinence only programs mean abstinence only lives for teenagers receiving this type of sexual
education? There are those who fully support abstinence only sex education while others deny its
ability and believe it only under educates teenagers. From the latter, the author claims that abstinence
only programs are not effective. He presents evidence to suggest this is valid, including that high
school students need medically accurate information on how to decrease their risk of sexually
transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy because they are sexually active. Though the
underlying issue has merit and the argument is sound and is valid because of logical ... Show more

The author does not seem to be focusing on the teenagers health when much of his logos came from
the expense of sex education programs and the wasted money involved with abstinence only
programs. He stated the dollar amount spent on these programs more than five times and one time
mentioned the money spent to observe the effectiveness of these programs. One example of this is
when he criticised that this extension equals another $ 250 million for failed abstinence only until
marriage programs over the next five years (SIECUS, 2014, p.3). He also did not explicitly state how
these programs failed so the audience assumes that it failed because of his following sentence about
how taxes pay for abstinence only programs. Although money is always a factor, these programs are
being provided for a reason and are paramount in teenagers lives. The safety of teenagers is usually
the concern whether their education is abstinence based or with additional education on STIs and
unplanned pregnancy. Hence, the author should have mentioned how many unplanned pregnancies
teens have faced or a provided a statistic on the spread of STIs. Furthermore, the author did not even
provide pathos evidence that abstinence based education was harmful through a personal recollection
of someone who was affected negatively. With neither of these evidences present, the audience is left
to wonder whether abstinence only education is really affecting anyone. However, the author had a
pattern of providing mostly irrelevant statistics such as money spent on programs. Therefore the
author sometimes breaks down the opposing side, but does not strengthen his own side through his
often misused logos and a lack of

Computer Science
Part 1 1. What are common carriers, local exchange carriers, and interexchange carriers? A common
carrier is a private company that sells or leases communication services and facilities to the public.
Common carriers are profit oriented, and their primary products are services for voice and data
transmissions, both over traditional wired circuits as well as cellular services. Common carriers often
supply a broad range of computer based services, such as the manufacturing and marketing of
specialized communication hardware and software. A common carrier that provides local telephone
services (e.g., BellSouth) is commonly called a local exchange carrier (LEC), while one that provides
long distance services (e.g., MCI) is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, dedicated circuits require more care in network design than switched circuits both in terms
of locations and the amount of capacity you purchase. With packet switched services, the user again
buys a connection into the common carrier cloud. The user pays a fixed fee for the connection into the
network depending upon the type and capacity of the service and is charged for the number of packets
transmitted. 13. Distinguish among T1, T2, T3, and T4 circuits. T1 circuit is sometimes called a DS 1
circuit. It provides a data rate of 1.544 Mbps. T1 circuits can be used to transmit data, but often are
used to transmit both data and voice. In this case, a time division multiplexer (TDM) provides 24 64
Kbps circuits. Digitized voice using pulse code modulation (PCM) requires a 64 Kbps circuit so T1
circuit enables 24 simultaneous voice channels. T2 circuit transmits data at a rate of 6.312 Mbps.
Basically; it is a multiplexed bundle of four T1 circuits. T3 circuits allow transmission at a rate of
44.376 Mbps, although most articles refer to this rate as 45 megabits per second. This is equal to the
capacity of 28 T1 circuits. T3 circuits are becoming popular as the transmission medium for corporate
MANs and WANs because of their higher data rates. At low speed, these T3 circuits can be used as
672 different 64 Kbps channels or voice channels. A T4 circuit transmits at

Pontius Pilate As A Negative Figure In The Bible
Pontius Pilate as a Negative Figure in the Bible
The Bible has been a well known text that many people have based their religion off of and use to
guide them through their life. The interpretation may be different depending on who wrote the chapter,
when the story was written, and depending on the person who is reading the story. All of these factors
contribute to how we read the Bible. Contingent on the context of the situation, Pilate may be
portrayed as a negative, neutral, or positive figure in the Bible. Warren Carter s book, Pontius Pilate:
Portraits of a Roman Governor, states, But in addition to exonerating him from any blame, this verdict
claims that during Jesus trial Pilate recognizes Jesus special identity and so becomes a ... Show more

The Bible states, For he realized that it was out of jealousy that they had handed him over (Matt
27:18). Pilate knew that the leaders of Jerusalem wanted Jesus murdered because it was out of
jealousy. If Pilate knew that he was innocent from the start, why did he allow the crowd to overtake
his power and condemn him for being the Son of God? Jesus was seen as a threat to the leaders of
Jerusalem, so the leaders wanted him killed. Pilate ultimately had the power to determine who was to
be punished, his hand was not forced to condemn Jesus. Yet, he still allowed Jesus to be crucified in
Pilate s reign as governor.
Like many people, Pilate fell to peer pressure. Pilate was aware of the fact that Jesus was innocent but
still allowed him to be punished. He asked the crowd why they wanted Jesus to be crucified in hopes
that they possibly would change their mind. The Bible states, Then he asked, Why, what evil has he
done? But they shouted all the more, Let him be crucified (Matt 27:23). Pilate knew he was in the
wrong because Jesus was innocent, yet he still allows him to be crucified. Pilate should have put his
foot down because he was aware that Jesus did not commit a crime. The Bible also says, While he was
sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent a word to him, Have nothing to do with that innocent man,
for today I have suffered a great deal because of a dream about him (Matt. 27:19). His wife
specifically told him not to harm Jesus. She had a

Performance Of Team Baldwin At Success
Assessment Introduction This assignment evaluates the performance of team Baldwin around the
success in managing the company over five rounds of the simulation. The assessment will be focused
on the round analysis areas with key attention on inventory, profit and contribution margin, emergency
loans, and stock price. In addition, the assignment reflects on the areas of improvement and how the
team could have developed effectiveness in addressing these key areas in round analysis. The Baldwin
team was composed of the members Mary Armstrong, Shawn Williams, Chelsea Trujillo, Daniel
Arensmeier and Brenda Reyes. Team Baldwin understood that its own success begins from a well
constructed strategy with a proper execution plan. The Baldwin company adopted a Differentiation
Strategy with a Product Lifecycle Focus. Baldwin considered the scope of the Capstone business
strategy in the implementation of the objectives of the company. These strategies revolved around the
R D, marketing, production, and finance departments. The highest priority was building effective and
successful team environments along with communication techniques. Excellent communication skills
are essential in virtual teams, which is why this should always be a crucial area of personal
development for team members (Manktelow, J., 2012). The second instrument in understanding the
Capsim simulation strategy was having knowledge of the market growth rate and the key four

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Essay
Neonatal nurse practitioners are advanced practice nurses who care for premature and sick newborns
in various settings such as neonatal intensive care units, emergency rooms, delivery rooms, or
specialty clinics. Although neonatal nurses care for health newborns, neonatal nurse practitioners are
skilled in caring for newborns in need of specialized attention. A newborn may be premature due to
premature birth, low birth weight, respiratory distress, heart abnormalities and other disorders. Since
these infants are so fragile, these nurses assume a lot of responsibility that comes with the career.
Their level of care allows them to monitor specialized equipment such as incubators and ventilators.
Also, they can dispense medications with the agreement of a physician along with performing
diagnostic procedures. This career requires numerous skills such as reading comprehension, active
listening, collaborating well with others, active learning, good decision making and complex problem
solving. All neonatal nurses have to have an empathetic understanding of the parents and other family

they are more experienced and hold a higher level of education. Although becoming a doctor can

Hip Hop Music In The 1970 s
Hip Hop music is a popular subculture, a piece of music that is focused on rhythmic music along with
rapping, a rhyming and rhythmic speech called chanting. Hip Hop culture was developed as part of
hip hop customs, using four keys style elements: rapping, turntables, graffiti writing, break dancing,
instrumental tracks and beat boxing. Hip Hop music is commonly referred to as rap music and
includes the practice of the entire subculture.
In the 1970 s, hip hop began in the Bronx, NY. At block and house parties using mixed songs from
two different records were used, also two turntables were used by DJ s playing popular songs to
extend the break of Hip Hop development as sampling knowledge and drum machines became

In 1979, The Sugarhill Gang s record release called Rappers Delight was the album being known as
the first hit album in the Hip Hop Industry. Sugarhill Gang s song was considered the first single to be
popularized in the United States and around the world, recorded in one single take; ten years later a
remix was released by Ben Liebrand.
In the 1980 s, hip hop developed many more styles such as Pitbull, Latino Style, Shaggy, Jamaican
style hip hop; yet prior to the 1980 s this type of music was limited to the United States. Nevertheless,
during the 1980 s hip hop began to spread across the United States and England.
In the 1990 s, hip hop began to merge with other music styles around the nation such as Southern Rap
and Atlanta s Hip hop. In the mid 1990 s, hip hop became the best selling music genre and by late
1999 hip hop was considered the top selling music genre. Hip hop was so popular due to the well
known Dr. Dre and Eminem, who were both successful and important figures in the hip hop industry.

Seduction in To His Mistress Going to Bed, Good Morrow, Corinna s Going A Maying, and To His
Coy Mistress
Throughout time, one of the greatest challenges mankind has faced is the sexual conquest of
womankind. In many cultures today, this challenge has evolved into an intricate courting process that
often involves buying the woman flowers, gifts, and meals to persuade her to have sex. Another device
that a man might use to seduce a woman is poetry. In the English language, the use of poetry to seduce
women may be traced back to the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Cavalier poets such
as Robert Herrick, John Donne, and Andrew Marvell embrace this method ... Show more content on

Thus, Herrick, Donne, and Marvell s consistent poetic reliance upon logical rhetoric, first person
plural narration, and imperative, interrogative, and conditional statements signifies the veritable
influence of these devices to convince women to have sex in late sixteenth and early seventeenth
century England.
While Herrick s famous Corinna s Going A Maying depends primarily on imperative statements, it
also features logical rhetoric and first person plural narration. Likewise, the overpowering ingredient
in Donne s Eligy XIX: To His Mistress Going to Bed is also the imperative statement, although he
also includes a dash of logic and interrogation. Similarly, Donne arranges interrogative statements,
logical reasoning, and first person plural narration into The Good Morrow. Marvell s To His Coy
Mistress is particularly unique in its ample use of conditional statements in combination with other
devices. To reiterate, the recurrence of literary elements in seduction poetry around the late sixteenth
and early seventeenth centuries in England clearly demonstrates their persuasive impact upon women
of the time.
Often considered to be the greatest Cavalier poet, Herrick focuses on pastoral themes and English
village customs in his poetry. Corinna s Going A Maying, a

The critical incident technique is a reliable tool to gather data, which increases the internal validity of
the study and making the results more transferable (Andersson and Nilsson, 2006). The benefits of
using a semi structured interview is that it allows the researcher to gain focused information from the
participant, it also allows the provision of reliable comparable qualitative data as the participants are
asked the same questions (Resources.hwb.wales.gov.uk, 2017). In this study it was useful as it allowed
the researchers to assess the causes of inter venous medication administration errors, allowing the
study to achieve its aim, again increasing its measurement validity (Socialresearchmethods.net, 2017).
The disadvantages of this study design are that it doesn t provide a detailed understanding of a topic
(Resources.hwb.wales.gov.uk, 2017). In comparison, both studies have high measurement validity and
each study design utilised has its own strengths and weaknesses as discussed. The 2011 study s sample
consisted of 107 nurses in two different hospitals in Australia. This is a small sample size decreasing
its internal validity (Kukull and Ganguli, 2012), in addition 107 nurses in two hospitals limits the
participants to those location decreasing the generalizability of the results as 107 nurses in two

Case Study of Betty Ford
Psy/410

Case Study of Betty Ford Substances, such as alcohol, are used for a variety of different reasons.
Alcohol is often used as a way to celebrate a special occasion. It can also be used to help an individual
take the edge off when he or she is feeling overwhelmed. Many individuals use alcohol when gathered
with others in a social setting, while others may drink alcohol when spending time alone. The use of
alcohol can become a problem when the individual begins to face challenges in his or her daily life.
Some of these challenges can include increasing problems with emotional or physical health, the

She began experiencing a variety of physical and psychological health problems which also affected
how she felt. Some of these health problems included reoccurring pain in her neck from a previously
pinched nerve, emotional fatigue, and the diagnoses of breast cancer (of which she became a strong
advocate). To ease the pain she was feeling, Betty would be prescribed a variety of medications of
which she eventually grew a tolerance to. In addition to the medications, Betty would increase the
amount of alcohol she was drinking in an attempt to comfort her pain. After their departure from the
White House, Betty and Jerry moved to California where Betty began to feel more and more isolated
and alone. At this point, Betty s children were all grown up and living on their own and Jerry kept
himself busy by continuing his engagements in political activities. Betty became more dependent on
prescription medications and alcohol to relieve her pain and depression and also less involved in the
social arena. After realizing the full extent of her illness and addictions, her family intervened, and
eventually they were able to convince Betty to seek treatment.
Biological, Emotional, Cognitive, and Behavioral Components of Alcoholism Betty Ford s case is full

Opposing Views About Islamic Pop Music
Islamic Pop Music
Middle Eastern Pop music is extremely popular. However, the dominant theme to most of the Pop
songs is love and romance. Many believed that religious Pop music, which concentrates on faith and
good human virtues, has a place in the market. Islamic Pop music is one of the best alternatives for the
youth to drift their minds away from the forbidden content found in some Pop music. In addition,
Islam was poorly portrayed in the media. Islamic Pop music plays a very significant role in correcting
that image and changing people s perspectives about Islam. Islamic Pop music is a combination of
spiritual faith and modern ecstasy. It is the voice of the new generation that is characterized by

Not only does Redbox provide a unique service, they provide it at a low cost at convenient locations.
Most movie rental stores charge $4 5 to rent a new release for approximately 3 days, whereas Redbox
provides a similar service for $1.29 per night. This is extremely cheap considering most consumers
watch their movie rental the same day they rent it. Furthermore, Redbox gets this low cost movie
rental product to the consumer through a channel of distribution historically associated with snack
foods and soda. By providing movie rentals through vending machines called kiosks located at
shopping locations where consumers already go to shop, they have eliminated much of the costs
associated with conventional movie rental stores and the need for consumers to make an additional
stop just to rent a movie. Since Redbox s inception, it has experienced enormous growth and profit,
but they will need to evolve in order to get ahead of the curve.
Although Redbox appears to have established themselves as a formidable competitor to Netflix and
Blockbuster, they are facing a gruesome reality. The take home movie rental business is rapidly losing
ground to online streaming video directly to consumers homes via the internet. Netflix has already

John Adams Essay example
John Adams
John Adams was criticized during his presidency by his enemies as well as his colleagues. Obviously,
his reputation as president doesn t really bring a positive thought to ones head. But does John Adams
deserve a better reputation as the president of the United States? He just did not do a very good job
when it came to picking his cabinet. His colleagues messed up his reputation. On the other hand, a
newspaper called the
Aurora, which was publicized in Philadelphia during his presidency, continually heaped abuse upon
Adams. They claimed that he was all words, but no action. Most of the country felt this way about him

It is quite obvious that George Washington had a much better cabinet than Adams did. John Adam s
cabinet was not nearly as witty or as intelligent than the one of Washington. Obviously, Mr. Adams did
not do too good of a job on choosing his colleagues. During John Adam s presidency, he ran into the
biggest problem in foreign policy. The French were attacking American shipping. Hoping to resolve
the problem, Adams sent Charles Pinckney, who was the United
States minister to France, John Marshall, a Virginian federalist, and Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts.
The mission was a total disaster. Charles Maurice de Tolleyrand Perigod, the French foreign minister,
sent three agents who demanded a bribe of 250,000 dollars as the price for making a deal. The
Americans went ballistic. No, no, not a sixpence was Charles Pinckney s response to the agents. This
later became known as the XYZ affair. The talks of negotiations disappeared and all of a sudden there
was the possibility of war. Millions for defense, but not a cent for tribute had become the national
slogan. Just three months after Adams had become president, he called in congress together for
measures of defense to be taken immediately. He did not want to wait any longer. He had asked for a
provisional army.(Ellis Langgeth) He also asked for the officers to be commissioned and for recruiting
to begin. However, he did not call for an establishment of a large, professional army. Throughout the

Our Moon
There are many things about the moon now I will tell you about some of the physical properties such
as the moon is 384,400 k or 238,000 miles from earth. It is so far in fact it would take a whole 2
seconds for a radio signal to get to the moon and back. And talking about distance the moon is 2162
miles long. Which is 1/4 the size of earth. It s density is 3340 kg/m. While still less dense than the
earth and being much smaller it s gravity which is only 1/6 as strong as earths still has an effect on our
Ivan s here on earth.(school for champions.com)2017
Now I will talk about the moons importance in old civilizations ancient religions and mythology. The
Mayans use to believe the sun and moon were both terrestrial creatures. And thought that the moon
was a young lady and the sun was a brave hunter. They believed that the sun and moon had fallen in

The moons gravity has a huge impact on our planets tides. Despite it being so far away from the earth.
The tides happen because the moons gravity which pull on the earth. This causes effects on the earth
such as when the moon is higher the oceans raise higher. Where the earth is closest to the moon and on
the opposite side of the earth. When the earth rotates the position in which the ocean rises. In a whole
24 hours you would see 2 rises and falls of the ocean in total.(ScienceKids.com)
I ll now talk about how the moon was formed. Scientist say that it was formed at least 4.5 billion years
ago. At least 30 or 50 after the solar system was formed. It was presumed to be formed after proto
earth and another planetoid crashed into each other. At first the moon had spun extremely fast. But
eventually slowed enough to match the orbital rate. It it was eventually in line with earth. This is the
reason we only ever see one side of the moon.(SServ.nasa.gov)

Between Shades of Gray
Lina Vilkas is an average 15 year old girl with a prestigious art school to look forward too, typical
teenage problems, and a family who loves and supports her through her everyday life. Her life as she
knows it is shattered before her when Soviet secret police unexpectedly barge into their elegant
Lithuanian home one summers night in 1941, leaving nothing but broken shards of her life behind.
Lina, her younger brother Jonas, and her head strong mother are separated from their father and
deported to
Siberia where they endure hours of grueling work, starvation, disease, and months of bitter cold which
tested their physical and emotional strength to the point of self depletion. Along the way they find

The novel initially began in Lithuania in the home of Lina and her family. As the story progresses they
are herded into train cars in a scene of panic and chaos. The train cars are described as very filthy,
congested, dark, and odorous, causing claustrophobia and possibly dementia. The train cars move
north and they finally arrive in Siberia where it is barren, dim, and completely isolated from major
cities. They are relocated to a plantation for vegetables where they are worked like cattle and given
little to no food. Throughout the story, Lina s thoughts turn into flashbacks where the setting is
constantly changing. After a year goes by they are deported into the Arctic zone of
Siberia, completely isolated from the rest of the world and forced to work in 6 months of darkness and
below freezing temperatures. They live in these conditions for 12 years until finally the Soviet s
tyrannical regime comes to an end and Lina and the other survivors are able to return to Lithuania.
Between Shades of Gray is much more than the resistance of a single person. It is more than just
telling and reliving all of the roughness and malicious sides of humanity.
However heart wrenching; the story is of finding hope for survival, throughout the biting cold, the
screams of pain, the pangs of hunger, and merciless evil. The novel recounts the

Everything I see is black or white; there s no in between. The only time I see any sort of color is when
I have something important to me. I remember when I was young, my world was full of pink, blue,
and many other hues. I had a loving family which consisted of my thoughtful mother, my hardworking
father, and a loyal pet dog named Cocoa. It was the happiest time of my life, until one day changed it
all.
We were going on a family trip that I had been dying to go on. My parents finally agreed, so we were
going to Canada. I was humming a happy tune until my mother told me to take off my seatbelt and
move next to the door. I looked around to see we were driving on a curved cliff. I did not know what

to one of the crushed cars I could see people trying to force the door open with what look like a
wrench. The door burst open with multiple tugs with the wrench.
A body fell out. My eyes widened with disbelief as I saw a black liquid coming from the girl s body,
making a pool of a dark substance next to her. You have to clean the oil off of her! It could get into her

Personal Responsibility By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Essay
Personal responsibility is a principle that is educated in elementary school all the way through college;
it essentially means taking liability for all your thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Gabriel García
Márquez, Columbian novelist, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982: for his novels and
short stories, in which the fantastic and the realistic are combined in a richly composed world of
imagination, reflecting a continent s life and conflicts. ( The Nobel Foundation). He was an
exceptionally influential writer for including personal responsibility as a prominent theme in many of
his short stories. Julio Cortázar , an Argentine novelist, became well known for composing short
stories that united existential questions with experimental writing methods in his work. Along with
Márquez, he included the aspect of personal responsibility in his short stories. Recognizing that you
are exclusively accountable for the decisions in your life, understanding and agreeing that you are
responsible for what you decide to feel or believe, giving consent to the reality that you choose the
direction for your life and acknowledging that you cannot hold others responsible for the choices you
have made are all aspects of personal responsibility. Both of these authors explore the idea that human
beings choose, instigate, or cause their own actions; due to this idea each one of us are ethically and
morally responsible for our actions and where we end in life is consequently due

Hare Checklist Case Study
There are advantages to the Hare Checklist, specifically identification of the checklist as one of the
most reliable tests at detecting psychopathy, if used by trained, professional personnel (Hare, 1990).
The checklist is extensive in the identification of psychopathy, containing a 20 items long list as well
as an interview and a review of past records and behaviors (Hare, 1990). The benefits of the checklist
include determining the most effective care for an individual diagnosed as a psychopath, and
responsibility for identifying possible psychopaths in prisons and other institutions who may become
repeat offenders of violent crime (Hare, 1990). The checklist is able to predict, in some cases, the
probability of another violent behavior occurring (Hare, 1990). ... Show more content on

twelve years based off of a misdiagnosis of psychopathy identified by characteristics and behaviors he

able to twist every action Tony made or every word he spoke into a further indication of his

Reflective Essay About My Mandala
During the past few weeks in Global Perspectives we explored our personal culture, and the influences
that shape it. Our task was to create a mandala: a circular set of symbols that convey the contrast
between the sun and shadow sides of our personality. While the sun side is the disposition other people
see, the shadow side captures unseen aspects of our personality. In this reflection, I further examine
how I embody the characteristic behind each symbol and how I came to possess this characteristic.
First, on the sun side (right), the uppermost symbol is a firecracker, which represents my exuberance.
Firecrackers are loud, colorful, and unpredictable. Being the youngest of my friends and family, I have
always been loud craving attention and achieved it through antics, similar to a firecracker exploding.
However, as exciting as some consider firecrackers, to some they are scary. My loud personality and
my never ending energy sometimes send the wrong impression, and I come off as a little hard to
handle. Though my family was part of the reason I wanted get attention, but I was the one would

Quantitative Positive Disclosures With Quantitative...
Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to lenders
and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how Financial
stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders reaction to
disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a disconfirmatory effect on the
financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive disclosures with quantitative negative
disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method to down play managerial incompetence and
persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible
displays to compensate. This is a contrasting view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an
organisations need for actions to be perceived by stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman,
2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a method to manage a situation when the expectations of
stakeholders are not met. When an organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to
demonstrate that it can only improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy.
A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take
advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). If an
organisation can demonstrate favourable environmental performance they are more likely to be

John Proctor Reaction To The Crucible
As John Proctor and I enter the court, I feel beads of sweat dripping down my face. I, Mary Warren, an
innocent an weak girl, will testify against Abigail Williams, my closest companion of countless years.
Although this appears confusing, and rather unjust for me to do so, I deem it deserved. Abigail has
altered me into a horrible person, along with forcing me to do what I despise: hurt others. I wish to
release myself from her grasp and finally be right with God, which includes ending the Witch Trials.
Proctor glances at me and utters, Do that which is good, and no harm shall come to thee. I instantly
realize how false this statement is considering how the Witch Trials have played out. Nervous and
terrified, I present myself, with Proctor, before the court and plan on truthfully confessing to being
merely an innocent, Puritan girl unfamiliar with witches, however I am unable to speak. Proctor
decides to speak for me and declares, while handing Danforth, the Deputy Governor, my deposition,

Why are personal responsibilities more important than social responsibilities?
People have a lot of ups and downs in their life. Sometimes they are happy while they are doing what
they like, or they are stressed of circumstances that arise in their life. They are always looking for
ways to find the balance around them. As a result, they plan different strategies to help improve the
quality of life, so they start working on themselves by being more responsible for their actions and
helping others in different ways for a better society. Some authors debate several circumstances to

Furthermore, they can be also responsible for the choices that they are making in life because they
may affect their body and create a door for a physical problem. Furthermore, people need to be
responsible for their intellectual growth as well. In order to be self sufficient, individuals need to be
prepared for life challenges. They can start by going to college to become well educated, and receive a
degree, find a job, and be able to take care of themselves without expecting assistance from
government, parents, or others. When people are able to keep the balance, they will not be a charge or
a problem to the public. Ericsson argues in her classification and division essay We all put up facades

qualify them at an extent. The way they dress, behave socially and personally. Therefore, if individuals
are well maintained physically and intellectually that will impact their life one way or another. By
taking care of themselves, they make decisions in life that will be greatly beneficial to them. Besides

their safety. They need to make good choices of people and company that they keep places that they

Geico s Core Values Of Integrity, Service, And Growth
I like to think that I exemplify GEICO s core values of integrity, service, and growth in many ways.
Since I believe that each truly goes hand in hand with the other, I feel it s important to gain an
understanding of each individually as a way to gain the ability to practice each one. Gaining an
understanding of each individually also helps one to show others how they can choose to take on these
values, too. Among values that one should hold close to them, integrity, service, and growth are
among the most important, to me. In my everyday life, I exemplify integrity by consistently following
my moral or ethical convictions and doing the right thing in all circumstances. To me, having integrity
means that I am are true to myself and would do nothing that demeans or dishonors me. I keep your
promises even if it takes extra effort. I work when I am supposed to and save socializing, snacking,
searching the Internet and personal phone calls for break time. I show respect to coworkers with
appropriate conversation and empathy. I am responsible, and I do what I say I will do. Similarly, I
exemplify service first and foremost by valuing service. I value it because not only have I been on the
receiving end of service, but also the giving end of the spectrum, and I value the feeling I can receive
when I am able to help someone in an endeavor. I personally receive the best feeling when I m helping

The Philosophy Of Law And Law
The Philosophy of Law explains and covers various aspects of law. It provides an overview of the
diverse theoretical justifications for our legal rules, systems, and practices. In Philosophy of Law,
pages 171 through 299 covers the two major topics of International Law and Property. In covering
International Law and Property, there are many subtopics to understand. International Law stands for
the law governing the relations of states. This term was explained by Jeremy Bentham; since his era
international law has been a major topic in jurisprudence. International Law covers four important
subtopics within its concept: 1. Sources of Doubt, 2. Obligations and Sanctions, 3. Obligations and the
Sovereignty of States, and 4. International Law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This prior question is: what is meant by saying of a whole system of law that it is binding ? The
statement that a particular rule of a system is binding on a particular person is one familiar to lawyers
and tolerably clear in meaning. To argue that international law is not binding because of its lack of
organized sanctions is tacitly to accept the analysis of obligation contained in the theory that law is
essentially a matter of orders backed by threats (177).
(3) Obligations and the Sovereignty of States gives examples of sovereign states and explains their
obligations under international law. Great Britain, Belgium, Greece Soviet Russia have rights and
obligations under international law and so are among its subjects. They are random examples of states
which the layman would think of as independent and the lawyer would recognize as sovereign . One
of the most persistent sources of perplexity about the obligatory character of international law has
been the difficulty felt in accepting or explaining the fact that a state which is sovereign may also be
bound by, or have an obligation under, international law. This form of skepticism is, in a sense, more
extreme than the objection that international law is not binding because it lacks sanctions. For

Importance Of Water Purification
Water purification is the removal of contaminants from raw water to produce drinking water that is
pure enough for human consumption or for industrial use.
Substances that are removed during the process include parasites (such as Giardia or
Cryptosporidium) , bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi, minerals (including toxic metals such as Lead,
Copper etc.), and man made chemical pollutants.
Many contaminants can be dangerous but depending on the quality standards, others are removed to
improve the water s smell, taste, and appearance.
A small amount of disinfectant is usually intentionally left in the water at the end of the treatment
process to reduce the risk of re contamination in the distribution system.
Many environmental and cost considerations affect the location and design of water purification
plants.
Groundwater is cheaper to treat, but aquifers usually have limited output and can take thousands of
years to recharge.
Surface water sources should be carefully monitored for the presence of unusual types or levels of
microbial/disease causing contaminants.
The treatment plant itself must be kept secure from vandalism and terrorism.
It is not possible to tell whether water is safe to drink just by looking at it.
Simple procedures such as boiling or the use of a household charcoal filter are not sufficient for
treating water from an unknown source.
Even natural spring water considered safe for all practical purposes in the 1800s must now be tested
before determining what

The style and purpose of dancing has changed throughout the years of existence. From culture to
culture, dancing is passed through generations as another form of communicating. Dancing has been
used as a healing method throughout Europe, and in the 1900 s people would attend balls as a social

Within this dance, Roethke demonstrates the abusive relationship as the father receives a battered
knuckle and the boy with a scraped ear. Even though the boy had to deal with his drunken father
physically and emotionally abusing him, he didn t mind it as long as he had his father. The boy didn t
care that his fathers whiskey breath almost made him dizzy, or that he had to cling on to his father
during this dance that should have been easy for him to execute but was difficult for him to perform
because of his father s drunkenness. The last stanza sums up the poem with the father waltzing the son
off to bed. The young boy didn t want to let go of his father, for he feared that letting go of his father
would symbolically end the relationship that they had. The last sentence still clinging onto your shirt
describes the love and the longing he had for his dad. To add on, society understands that in a child s
youth, growing up in an abusive environment is impactful on his/her life, and the boy wanted to keep
the connection he had with his dad. From just reading this poem, the reader narrows down on one day
into the life of this father and son dancing throughout the house, and in such a way, Roethke captured
and connected the dancing of the waltz with the relationship between the father and his son. Roethke

Advertisements Are Manipulating Or Informing
Advertisements Are Manipulating or Informing
Advertisement has taken a significant role in people s daily lives. With the development of
technological devices; it is impossible to escape from the advertisements. People now are surrounded
by advertisements everywhere, on the TV screen, newspapers, magazines, and on the internet.
Advertisements help people know information about the products and keep track of the new products.
However, with all the advertising out there, advertising techniques have changed in several ways to
grab the consumers attention and to keep the consumer s loyalty to the product. According to James B.
Twitchell s article, What We Are to Advertisers, Twitchell said, The object of advertising is not just to
brand parity objects but also to brand consumers as they move through these various communities.
(Twitchell, 182) This describes why many of the advertisements now tend to be more manipulative
than to be informative. Many people opposed to the idea that the advertisements are manipulating and
they often argued that advertisements increase the consumers knowledge about the products.
However, there are some evidences that advertisements are manipulating the consumers and influence
their decisions by associating the product with feeling, using entertainers, and making the
advertisement visually attractive.
Firstly, opponents of the idea that advertisements are manipulating claim, that advertisements only

Gideon V. Wainwright Case Study
In the 1963 decision of Gideon v. Wainwright, the court sought to establish the guarantee of a fair trial
before impartial tribunals in which every defendant stands equal before the law. Gideon v.
Wainwright, 372 U.S. 335, 344 (1963). In Gideon, the court announced a right to counsel in criminal
cases. Id. However, this decision only extended to criminal cases and left civil litigants waiting for
their own Gideon decision. Fifty five years later, and there is still no universal right to counsel in civil
cases. The Supreme Court has failed to utilize opportunities to make a ruling similar to Gideon in civil
cases, despite the presence of similar issues. In Lassiter v. Dept. of Soc. Services, the court held that
indigent litigants only had a right to appointed counsel when they risk losing their physical liberty .
Lassiter v. Dept. of Soc. Services, 452 U.S. 18, 23 (1981). In other words, absent a threat of
incarceration or extreme circumstances, there is not right to counsel. Lee Shevell, Civil Gideon: The
Poor Man s Fight, 16 Public Interest Law Reporter 32 37 (2010). The injustice of incarcerating a
defendant that was tried and convicted without the representation of an attorney is an obvious truth.
Gideon, 372 U.S. 344. Yet, isn t there truth to the shocking injustice of leaving the poor and most
vulnerable without representation for legal issues regarding basic needs such as shelter, food, safety,
family and health? The decision in Gideon stressed that a criminal conviction, stripping an individual
of their liberty, without the representation of counsel was a grave injustice that violated the dues
process clause. The poor are denied due process, suffering a loss liberty and justice because they
cannot afford legal representation. In some cases, the loss is just as great if not greater than being
convicted of a crime or imprisoned. Kathryn Grant Madigan, Advocating for a Civil Right to Counsel

With rich coastal resources, Filipinos made coastal fishing activities its main livelihood. On the other

the fisheries and resort operators in the coastal areas of the Philippines. If possible, a hybrid case study

Philippines. Further exploration of this research is valuable for the fishermen, tourist operators and
other stakeholders to clearly identify their roles and responsibility that should prevent issues between
them and to help with the preservation and conservation of the environment along the coastal areas.
Currently, the environment and the resources of the Philippines are depleting because of overfishing,

The historical policy that contributed to the changes in welfare happened during the Clinton
administration the passage of legislation that replaced AFDC with Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families (TANF) represented a giant step backward in the effort to provide economic security for
children. The passage of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of
1996 (PRWORA), replaced AFDC with TANF and as a result, it canceled the federal guarantee of
support of poor children that had been established earlier by the 1935 Social Security Act (Chapin,

TANF program (Office of Family Assistance, 2015, p.1). The purpose of the program includes to

dependency of needy parents by promoting job preparation, work and marriage, prevent and reduce
the incidence of out of wedlock pregnancies and encourage the formation and maintenance of two
parent families (OFA, 2014, p.1). However, many of these things are falling short because needs are
not being met and the program criteria is outdated and based on earlier welfare reforms started during
the 70 s thru the 90 s. One example, is the Family Assistance Plan (FAP) that never got passed during
the Nixon administration. However, the program was criticized because the minimum income level
was actually less than the established poverty level and the work requirements for the able bodied
poor included mothers with children over three years of age (Chapin, 2014, p.87). This policy was not

Good Country People, a Review and Analysis Essay
Everyone wants to believe that they are beautiful. For this reason, we tend to seek out that approval
from others including our parents, friends, and other loved ones. Flannery O Connor s story, Good
Country People, focuses on this particular theme. In her narrative, a young girl named Joy Hopewell
longs for her mother s approval. When she does not find it, Joy begins to believe that she is unworthy

For instance, Joy legally changes her name to Hulga. She changes her name from Joy because she
does not see herself as beautiful as such a name implies. In fact, the narrator says, she had thought and
thought until she had hit upon the ugliest name in any language (132). Furthermore, Hulga never
wears dresses or anything nice. Instead, she chooses to wear a six year old skirt and a yellow sweat
shirt with a faded cowboy on a horse embossed on it (133). Hulga does not believe that any amount of
makeup or nice clothes can improve upon her ugliness. This low confidence directly derives from her
mother s dissatisfaction with her.
Because of her poor self image, Hulga Hopewell melts as soon as she sees that the Bible salesman
thinks that she is beautiful. He looks at her in a way that no one else ever has before. Manley Pointer
not only smiles at her, but gazes at her in admiration and tenderness. The mere idea that this Bible
salesman would be drawn to her leaves Hulga in complete astonishment and wonder. The narrator
describes Hulga s fascination with the boy s fondness by saying, It was like surrendering to him
completely. It was like losing her own life and finding it again, miraculously, in his (141). No one,
including her mother, had ever seen Hulga as beautiful. For this reason, Manley easily wins her trust,
and ultimately, tricks her. Hulga s immediate surrender to Manley

THE ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALING OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETES FOOT
ULCERS (REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS)
INCIDENT
As a registered nurse with over 10 years of clinical practice experience in various field of nursing
including caring for patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), I was concerned with rise in the
numbers of DFUs cases resulting into higher rates of amputation, disabilities and mortality . DFU are
caused by a combination of peripheral neuropathy and vascular diseases resulting from diabetes
mellitus (Army and Tanja, 2012). Statistics provided indicate that a limb is lost to improper
management of DFUs every 30 seconds somewhere in the world (International Diabetes Federation,
2005). In addition, over 85% of lower ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ANALYSIS ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALING OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETIC
FOOT ULCERS (LITERATURE REVIEW)
Since the concept of wound bed preparation arose (Schultz et al, 2003), striving to achieve a wound
environment that is conducive to healing has become increasingly important (Dowsett, 2002).
Debridement plays a crucial role in this concept. Eliminating non viable tissue from wound bed which
acts as a significant barrier to wound repair if not removed (Dowsett and Claxton, 2006). The presence
of necrotic tissue in wound has known deleterious effects including sepsis and delayed healing.
Debridement is therefore an essential adjuct in treatment of non healing ulcer (Anu, Emane and
Morris, 2001). Debridement is the removal of devitalized or contaminated tissue within or adjacent to
wound until surrounding tissue is exposed (Smith, 2002).According to International Diabetic
Federation (2004), removal of dead or devitalized tissue is paramount for effective wound care of
DFUs. Frykberg et al, (2006) advocate regular debridement to remove necrotic tissue and reduce
burden in order to expedite wound healing. Although it is widely accepted that debridement may be
necessary for optimal wound healing for DFUs, evidence from randomized trials relating to the
effectiveness of its different method is lacking and method of measuring its effectiveness are poorly
developed (Haycock and Chadwick, 2012). Debridement has always been

Metoo And Time s Up Analysis
1. The #MeToo and Time s Up social movements organize around the issues of sexual violence,
harassment and abuse, with an emphasis on women in the workplace. For decades, incidents like these
have always occurred, yet they were not spoken about. The main reason being, the harassment is
incited by a person of power and authority in the majority of the cases, and them taking advantage of
these qualities. These issues coincide with themes such as democracy, inequality, social justice, and
decent work, as they violate the foundation of human rights that these themes were built upon. In the
theme of democracy and inequality, 123 out of 192 countries revolve around the idea of a democratic
society to make its citizens feel inclusive and supports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 7th chapter of the book Drawn to change, it draws attention to the Service, Office, and Retail
Workers Union of Canada, in which it was a militant attempt to revitalizing a feminist movement and
changing the gender makeup of the labour force post WWII. It was able to gather locals of female
workers to dedicate their workplace to the success of this organization, however it faced many
obstacles as they promoted unions, and employers drastically opposed union organizing around this
time. Unfortunately, this organization no longer exists but it is a vital part of the past that consists of
feminism and power to women in the workplace. It was only a stepping stone to where we are on
women s issues today. Similarly, to the #MeToo/Time s Up movements, they advocate for the equality
of women in the workplace, as it is prevalent that females still do not make up of much of the
workplace back in the 1970 s and now. In contrast, this organization is deceased under the wrath of the
government. However, the #MeToo/Time s up movement is only growing, and this time with the
tactics this organization has succeeded in, the government will not have the same power they did over
SORWUC. In the 8th chapter, the working class in Ontario within the 1990 s experienced a situation
where employers and politicians intensified their attacks on working people and on the poor. Workers
and the unions that represented them were forced to bear the brunt of a global economic recession.

Dreams, By Sigmund Freud
A person s dreams appear to have a universal language. In ancient societies, people looked at
dreaming as some kind of supernatural communication and dreams are fascinating mysteries. To begin
the discussion of dreams, it is important to note that dreams are often considered an extension of
consciousness. In other words, dreams can be a way the brain organizes and analyzes the day to day
events during sleep. Everyone dreams, however, not everyone remembers their dreams. The
psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud, theorized that dreams bury themselves in unconscious emotions and
as we sleep our mind releases these emotions in the form of dreams. He also theorized that dreams are
ways in which people act out suppressed desires. The Interpretation of ... Show more content on

This theory was a good method of explaining dreams, but it did not predict behavior. In other words,
one cannot prove or refute the validity of Freud s theory. According to Ciccarelli and White (2015),
many of today s professionals no longer appreciate Freud s dream theory (151). Nevertheless, Freud s
legacy lives on as The Father of Psychoanalysis (Robinson 2011) and a pioneer in the study of dreams.
Even though, the theory proposed by Freud appears decidedly unscientific. The unconscious mind was
important in Freud s work and the Freudian theory emphasized that the unconscious mind governed
behavior.
Additionally, to study Freud, one must investigate his theory of manifest content and latent content.
While reading Freud, a student learns that the actual content of the dream refers to manifest content.
That is to say, the exact subject matter of the dream makes up the manifest content. At the same time,
Freud believed that the real meaning of a dream referred to latent content. An individual s personal
interpretations define the latent content in Freud s theory. Although rarely recognized, Freud s career
was first and foremost a practitioner Moran 2010). As a psychotherapist Freud believed that dreams
come from deep in the unconscious mind. Perhaps even from things suppressed since childhood. The
study of dreams helped Freud understand the process of psychoanalyzing people and he believed
dreams were a

My Experience At The Los Angeles Locos Hotel
I ll always remember the joy the Los Angeles Locos Hotel brought me in Mexico. I never would ve
thought the trip would consist such excitement. The night we saw sea turtles laying eggs, going
horseback riding on the beach, and watching a stormy day. Leaving was the hard part, the people I ll
never forget. Waking to the noise of the people s morning gatherings, drifting to sleep as the ocean
waves collided with the sand. My grandmother woke me one morning to tell me where our trip would
lie this month. She revealed the location and I started jumping all around the room, especially excited
after finding out what activities would be included. A week later I struggled to sleep, familiar with the
feeling of too much excitement. The kind a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ocean was so beautiful and blue. It seemed to never end and it was widely open. I walked back
inside and admired the two beds, the way they were made and the orange ribbon in the middle of each
bed. We put our luggage away and spent the first day by the pool, exploring the resort. Soon it was
dark and we were walking on the beach. We noticed colorful lights coming from a small glass building
up close to a mountain. Curiously we walked up the path of stairs, we entered what looked like a club.
Once me and my friend Daniel saw the male strippers in neon underwear we ran back outside
laughing our butts off. We walked back towards the center of the resort and saw that they were having
a party. There were chairs all around, the room filled with people. There were seniors, young adults,
regular adults, and occasionally a child. They were playing games and laughing. We found open seats
and sat down, joining them laughing at the people s attempts to play charades. At 2 am we headed
back to the hotel room and got some rest because the next day was already planned, and we d need
energy for all that was going to happen. We all woke up early to see the sunrise and got ready for an
eventful day. We walked down the beach to see the seagulls and fishermen. I asked one of the
fisherman if I could feed the seagulls and he gave me three enormous handfuls of fish. I was throwing
the fish at the seagulls, trying to make sure I was being fair and equal. They crowded me eagerly and I

The Left Hand Of Darkness Feminist Essay
Science fiction plays an important part in feminism texts. According toTom Moylan(1986) science
fiction can serve as a playground for feminist considerations and criticism of gender, sexuality, social
roles and oppression, reproduction, patriarchy, and much more(p.30). Le Guin agrees with this
definition and states that pulling back from reality in order to see it better, is perhaps the essential
gesture of science fiction. Butler (2004) has the similar idea that fantasy is what allows us to imagine
ourselves and others otherwise (p.28). Two science fiction feminist texts The Left Hand of Darkness
by Ursula K. Le Guin and The Passion of New Eve by Angela Carter both deal with gender identity
and its performativity with the engagement of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The leading character Simone de Beauvoir initiated one is not born but rather becomes a woman .
Based on the reading of de Beauvoir, Butler further argues a new concept that gender subsumes sex
which indicates that biological sex is also socially constructed . Butler(1986) forms her new idea that
becomes a woman is a process of constructing ourselves and it is a purpositive and apropiative set of
acts, the acquisition of a skill . For Butler (1990), women can never be and gender is never a noun but
a set of free floating attributes. Hence, gender is proved to be performative(p.18 24). Her idea co
relates with Nietzsche s view of gender that there is no gender identity behind the expression of
gender; that identity is performatively constituted by the expression of one s gender(Butler, 1990, p.24
25). It seems to Butler that de Beauvoir defines gender ambiguously because she misses the
performative character of gender. Butler claims that people need to understand the term woman as the
site of permanent openness and resignifiability , which is different from de Beauvoir s view that
women are subjects in

Marine Corps ( Usmc )
Would you quit working to obtain something you want if it was just too hard ? If someone truly
believes in a cause then they would give everything to achieve it right? Would you just like to blend in
with the crowd or do you want to stick out? If one answered yes to any of the previous questions, then
one wouldn t have the characteristics of either a Navy SEAL or Marine. Answering no to all the
questions may also not be enough to be either a SEAL or Marine. Not many people know this, but
Navy SEALs undergo the most rigorous military training known to man. SEAL training is considered
harder than any other nation s special forces training. Likewise, the United States Marine Corps
(USMC), the most revered branch of the military, also trains hard preparing future Devil Dog s
(motivational nickname for Marines) to defend our country starting with 12 strenuous weeks of boot
camp. Both Marines and SEALs put their lives on the line to defend our way of life, but what makes
them different? A better question might be what doesn t make them different from each other. Many
people may think that they both fight in combat, they both train for multiple months and they both are
in the military, and each is trained to be a shooter first, so they must be similar. This is not the case.
Both groups do have many similarities, but also plenty of differences in size, training, schooling,
roots/history, requirements, uses in the past and strategies.
Navy SEALs origins date back to the 1940s,

  • 2. Abstinence Education Programs Argumentative Analysis Analysis of the Ineffectiveness of Abstinence Education Programs Argument Does abstinence only programs mean abstinence only lives for teenagers receiving this type of sexual education? There are those who fully support abstinence only sex education while others deny its ability and believe it only under educates teenagers. From the latter, the author claims that abstinence only programs are not effective. He presents evidence to suggest this is valid, including that high school students need medically accurate information on how to decrease their risk of sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy because they are sexually active. Though the underlying issue has merit and the argument is sound and is valid because of logical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author does not seem to be focusing on the teenagers health when much of his logos came from the expense of sex education programs and the wasted money involved with abstinence only programs. He stated the dollar amount spent on these programs more than five times and one time mentioned the money spent to observe the effectiveness of these programs. One example of this is when he criticised that this extension equals another $ 250 million for failed abstinence only until marriage programs over the next five years (SIECUS, 2014, p.3). He also did not explicitly state how these programs failed so the audience assumes that it failed because of his following sentence about how taxes pay for abstinence only programs. Although money is always a factor, these programs are being provided for a reason and are paramount in teenagers lives. The safety of teenagers is usually the concern whether their education is abstinence based or with additional education on STIs and unplanned pregnancy. Hence, the author should have mentioned how many unplanned pregnancies teens have faced or a provided a statistic on the spread of STIs. Furthermore, the author did not even provide pathos evidence that abstinence based education was harmful through a personal recollection of someone who was affected negatively. With neither of these evidences present, the audience is left to wonder whether abstinence only education is really affecting anyone. However, the author had a pattern of providing mostly irrelevant statistics such as money spent on programs. Therefore the author sometimes breaks down the opposing side, but does not strengthen his own side through his often misused logos and a lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Computer Science Part 1 1. What are common carriers, local exchange carriers, and interexchange carriers? A common carrier is a private company that sells or leases communication services and facilities to the public. Common carriers are profit oriented, and their primary products are services for voice and data transmissions, both over traditional wired circuits as well as cellular services. Common carriers often supply a broad range of computer based services, such as the manufacturing and marketing of specialized communication hardware and software. A common carrier that provides local telephone services (e.g., BellSouth) is commonly called a local exchange carrier (LEC), while one that provides long distance services (e.g., MCI) is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, dedicated circuits require more care in network design than switched circuits both in terms of locations and the amount of capacity you purchase. With packet switched services, the user again buys a connection into the common carrier cloud. The user pays a fixed fee for the connection into the network depending upon the type and capacity of the service and is charged for the number of packets transmitted. 13. Distinguish among T1, T2, T3, and T4 circuits. T1 circuit is sometimes called a DS 1 circuit. It provides a data rate of 1.544 Mbps. T1 circuits can be used to transmit data, but often are used to transmit both data and voice. In this case, a time division multiplexer (TDM) provides 24 64 Kbps circuits. Digitized voice using pulse code modulation (PCM) requires a 64 Kbps circuit so T1 circuit enables 24 simultaneous voice channels. T2 circuit transmits data at a rate of 6.312 Mbps. Basically; it is a multiplexed bundle of four T1 circuits. T3 circuits allow transmission at a rate of 44.376 Mbps, although most articles refer to this rate as 45 megabits per second. This is equal to the capacity of 28 T1 circuits. T3 circuits are becoming popular as the transmission medium for corporate MANs and WANs because of their higher data rates. At low speed, these T3 circuits can be used as 672 different 64 Kbps channels or voice channels. A T4 circuit transmits at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Pontius Pilate As A Negative Figure In The Bible Pontius Pilate as a Negative Figure in the Bible The Bible has been a well known text that many people have based their religion off of and use to guide them through their life. The interpretation may be different depending on who wrote the chapter, when the story was written, and depending on the person who is reading the story. All of these factors contribute to how we read the Bible. Contingent on the context of the situation, Pilate may be portrayed as a negative, neutral, or positive figure in the Bible. Pilate knew that the leaders of Jerusalem wanted Jesus murdered because it was out of jealousy. If Pilate knew that he was innocent from the start, why did he allow the crowd to overtake his power and condemn him for being the Son of God? Jesus was seen as a threat to the leaders of Jerusalem, so the leaders wanted him killed. Pilate ultimately had the power to determine who was to be punished, his hand was not forced to condemn Jesus. Yet, he still allowed Jesus to be crucified in Pilate s reign as governor. Like many people, Pilate fell to peer pressure. Pilate was aware of the fact that Jesus was innocent but still allowed him to be punished. He asked the crowd why they wanted Jesus to be crucified in hopes that they possibly would change their mind. The Bible states, Then he asked, Why, what evil has he done? But they shouted all the more, Let him be crucified (Matt 27:23). Pilate knew he was in the wrong because Jesus was innocent, yet he still allows him to be crucified. Pilate should have put his foot down because he was aware that Jesus did not commit a crime. The Bible also says, While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent a word to him, Have nothing to do with that innocent man, for today I have suffered a great deal because of a dream about him (Matt. 27:19). Seduction in To His Mistress Going to Bed, Good Morrow, Corinna s Going A Maying, and To His Coy Mistress Throughout time, one of the greatest challenges mankind has faced is the sexual conquest of womankind. In many cultures today, this challenge has evolved into an intricate courting process that often involves buying the woman flowers, gifts, and meals to persuade her to have sex. Another device that a man might use to seduce a woman is poetry. In the English language, the use of poetry to seduce women may be traced back to the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Cavalier poets such as Robert Herrick, John Donne, and Andrew Marvell embrace this method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, Herrick, Donne, and Marvell s consistent poetic reliance upon logical rhetoric, first person plural narration, and imperative, interrogative, and conditional statements signifies the veritable influence of these devices to convince women to have sex in late sixteenth and early seventeenth century England. While Herrick s famous Corinna s Going A Maying depends primarily on imperative statements, it also features logical rhetoric and first person plural narration. Likewise, the overpowering ingredient in Donne s Eligy XIX: To His Mistress Going to Bed is also the imperative statement, although he also includes a dash of logic and interrogation. Similarly, Donne arranges interrogative statements, logical reasoning, and first person plural narration into The Good Morrow. Marvell s To His Coy Mistress is particularly unique in its ample use of conditional statements in combination with other devices. To reiterate, the recurrence of literary elements in seduction poetry around the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries in England clearly demonstrates their persuasive impact upon women of the time. Often considered to be the greatest Cavalier poet, Herrick focuses on pastoral themes and English village customs in his poetry. Corinna s Going A Maying, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The critical incident technique is a reliable tool to gather data, which increases the internal validity of the study and making the results more transferable (Andersson and Nilsson, 2006). The benefits of using a semi structured interview is that it allows the researcher to gain focused information from the participant, it also allows the provision of reliable comparable qualitative data as the participants are asked the same questions (Resources.hwb.wales.gov.uk, 2017). In this study it was useful as it allowed the researchers to assess the causes of inter venous medication administration errors, allowing the study to achieve its aim, again increasing its measurement validity (Socialresearchmethods.net, 2017). The disadvantages of this study design are that it doesn t provide a detailed understanding of a topic (Resources.hwb.wales.gov.uk, 2017). In comparison, both studies have high measurement validity and each study design utilised has its own strengths and weaknesses as discussed. The 2011 study s sample consisted of 107 nurses in two different hospitals in Australia. The first Redbox kiosk was opened by McDonald s in 2002. Redbox was later purchased by Coinstar, Inc., and over the years, Redbox has rented over one billion movies and has grown to more than 27,000 locations in restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies and convenience stores nationwide. Not only does Redbox provide a unique service, they provide it at a low cost at convenient locations. Most movie rental stores charge $4 5 to rent a new release for approximately 3 days, whereas Redbox provides a similar service for $1.29 per night. This is extremely cheap considering most consumers watch their movie rental the same day they rent it. Furthermore, Redbox gets this low cost movie rental product to the consumer through a channel of distribution historically associated with snack foods and soda. By providing movie rentals through vending machines called kiosks located at shopping locations where consumers already go to shop, they have eliminated much of the costs associated with conventional movie rental stores and the need for consumers to make an additional stop just to rent a movie. Since Redbox s inception, it has experienced enormous growth and profit, but they will need to evolve in order to get ahead of the curve. Although Redbox appears to have established themselves as a formidable competitor to Netflix and Blockbuster, they are facing a gruesome reality. The take home movie rental business is rapidly losing ground to online streaming video directly to consumers homes via the internet. Mindfulness-Based Stress Prevention One of the most important considerations for counselors and counselors in training is the possibility of burn out due to the inherent stress that comes with being in the helping profession. The French were attacking American shipping. Hoping to resolve the problem, Adams sent Charles Pinckney, who was the United States minister to France, John Marshall, a Virginian federalist, and Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts. The mission was a total disaster. Charles Maurice de Tolleyrand Perigod, the French foreign minister, sent three agents who demanded a bribe of 250,000 dollars as the price for making a deal. The Americans went ballistic. No, no, not a sixpence was Charles Pinckney s response to the agents. This later became known as the XYZ affair. The talks of negotiations disappeared and all of a sudden there was the possibility of war. Millions for defense, but not a cent for tribute had become the national slogan. Just three months after Adams had become president, he called in congress together for measures of defense to be taken immediately. He did not want to wait any longer. Personal Responsibility By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Essay Personal responsibility is a principle that is educated in elementary school all the way through college; it essentially means taking liability for all your thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Gabriel García Márquez, Columbian novelist, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982: for his novels and short stories, in which the fantastic and the realistic are combined in a richly composed world of imagination, reflecting a continent s life and conflicts. Julio Cortázar , an Argentine novelist, became well known for composing short stories that united existential questions with experimental writing methods in his work. Along with Márquez, he included the aspect of personal responsibility in his short stories. Recognizing that you are exclusively accountable for the decisions in your life, understanding and agreeing that you are responsible for what you decide to feel or believe, giving consent to the reality that you choose the direction for your life and acknowledging that you cannot hold others responsible for the choices you have made are all aspects of personal responsibility. Our task was to create a mandala: a circular set of symbols that convey the contrast between the sun and shadow sides of our personality. While the sun side is the disposition other people see, the shadow side captures unseen aspects of our personality. In this reflection, I further examine how I embody the characteristic behind each symbol and how I came to possess this characteristic. Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to lenders and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how Financial stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders reaction to disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a disconfirmatory effect on the financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive disclosures with quantitative negative disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method to down play managerial incompetence and persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible displays to compensate. This is a contrasting view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an organisations need for actions to be perceived by stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman, 2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a method to manage a situation when the expectations of stakeholders are not met. When an organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to demonstrate that it can only improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy. A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). It provides an overview of the diverse theoretical justifications for our legal rules, systems, and practices. In Philosophy of Law, pages 171 through 299 covers the two major topics of International Law and Property. In covering International Law and Property, there are many subtopics to understand. International Law stands for the law governing the relations of states. This term was explained by Jeremy Bentham; since his era international law has been a major topic in jurisprudence. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This prior question is: what is meant by saying of a whole system of law that it is binding ? The statement that a particular rule of a system is binding on a particular person is one familiar to lawyers and tolerably clear in meaning. (3) Obligations and the Sovereignty of States gives examples of sovereign states and explains their obligations under international law. Great Britain, Belgium, Greece Soviet Russia have rights and obligations under international law and so are among its subjects. Substances that are removed during the process include parasites (such as Giardia or Cryptosporidium) , bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi, minerals (including toxic metals such as Lead, Copper etc.), and man made chemical pollutants. Many contaminants can be dangerous but depending on the quality standards, others are removed to improve the water s smell, taste, and appearance. A small amount of disinfectant is usually intentionally left in the water at the end of the treatment process to reduce the risk of re contamination in the distribution system. Many environmental and cost considerations affect the location and design of water purification plants. Groundwater is cheaper to treat, but aquifers usually have limited output and can take thousands of years to recharge. Surface water sources should be carefully monitored for the presence of unusual types or levels of microbial/disease causing contaminants. The treatment plant itself must be kept secure from vandalism and terrorism. It is not possible to tell whether water is safe to drink just by looking at it. The last stanza sums up the poem with the father waltzing the son off to bed. The young boy didn t want to let go of his father, for he feared that letting go of his father would symbolically end the relationship that they had. The last sentence still clinging onto your shirt describes the love and the longing he had for his dad. To add on, society understands that in a child s youth, growing up in an abusive environment is impactful on his/her life, and the boy wanted to keep the connection he had with his dad. From just reading this poem, the reader narrows down on one day into the life of this father and son dancing throughout the house, and in such a way, Roethke captured and connected the dancing of the waltz with the relationship between the father and his son. • 33. Advertisements Are Manipulating Or Informing Advertisements Are Manipulating or Informing Advertisement has taken a significant role in people s daily lives. With the development of technological devices; it is impossible to escape from the advertisements. People now are surrounded by advertisements everywhere, on the TV screen, newspapers, magazines, and on the internet. Advertisements help people know information about the products and keep track of the new products. However, with all the advertising out there, advertising techniques have changed in several ways to grab the consumers attention and to keep the consumer s loyalty to the product. According to James B. Twitchell s article, What We Are to Advertisers, Twitchell said, The object of advertising is not just to brand parity objects but also to brand consumers as they move through these various communities. (Twitchell, 182) This describes why many of the advertisements now tend to be more manipulative than to be informative. Many people opposed to the idea that the advertisements are manipulating and they often argued that advertisements increase the consumers knowledge about the products. However, there are some evidences that advertisements are manipulating the consumers and influence their decisions by associating the product with feeling, using entertainers, and making the advertisement visually attractive. Firstly, opponents of the idea that advertisements are manipulating claim, that advertisements only provide the consumers with the basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Gideon V. Wainwright Case Study In the 1963 decision of Gideon v. Wainwright, the court sought to establish the guarantee of a fair trial before impartial tribunals in which every defendant stands equal before the law. Gideon v. Wainwright, 372 U.S. 335, 344 (1963). In Gideon, the court announced a right to counsel in criminal cases. Id. However, this decision only extended to criminal cases and left civil litigants waiting for their own Gideon decision. Fifty five years later, and there is still no universal right to counsel in civil cases. The Supreme Court has failed to utilize opportunities to make a ruling similar to Gideon in civil cases, despite the presence of similar issues. In Lassiter v. Dept. of Soc. Services, the court held that indigent litigants only had a right to appointed counsel when they risk losing their physical liberty . Lassiter v. Dept. of Soc. Services, 452 U.S. 18, 23 (1981). In other words, absent a threat of incarceration or extreme circumstances, there is not right to counsel. Lee Shevell, Civil Gideon: The Poor Man s Fight, 16 Public Interest Law Reporter 32 37 (2010). The injustice of incarcerating a defendant that was tried and convicted without the representation of an attorney is an obvious truth. Gideon, 372 U.S. 344. Yet, isn t there truth to the shocking injustice of leaving the poor and most vulnerable without representation for legal issues regarding basic needs such as shelter, food, safety, family and health? The decision in Gideon stressed that a criminal conviction, stripping an individual of their liberty, without the representation of counsel was a grave injustice that violated the dues process clause. The poor are denied due process, suffering a loss liberty and justice because they cannot afford legal representation. In some cases, the loss is just as great if not greater than being convicted of a crime or imprisoned. Kathryn Grant Madigan, Advocating for a Civil Right to Counsel in New York State Note, 25 Touro Law Review 9 22 (2009). Purpose Statement The objective of my research paper is to describe the challenges from the rapid growth of tourism related development and other multiple land uses that have resulted in conflicting land use and resource management between the fisheries and resort operators in the coastal areas of the Philippines. If possible, a hybrid case study can be conducted through doing a questionnaire administered by e mail with two experts in the field of in the Philippines to assess the situation regarding the current policies, land use and resource management. Furthermore, a proposed framework of policies from secondary research can be examined if it is possible to be applied with the current situation along the coastal areas of the Philippines. Further exploration of this research is valuable for the fishermen, tourist operators and other stakeholders to clearly identify their roles and responsibility that should prevent issues between them and to help with the preservation and conservation of the environment along the coastal areas. Currently, the environment and the resources of the Philippines are depleting because of overfishing, destructive fishing, sedimentation and disposal of untreated waste (Parras, 2001). Needy Family Policy Analysis The historical policy that contributed to the changes in welfare happened during the Clinton administration the passage of legislation that replaced AFDC with Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) represented a giant step backward in the effort to provide economic security for children. The passage of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA), replaced AFDC with TANF and as a result, it canceled the federal guarantee of support of poor children that had been established earlier by the 1935 Social Security Act (Chapin, 2014, p.101). However, many of these things are falling short because needs are not being met and the program criteria is outdated and based on earlier welfare reforms started during the 70 s thru the 90 s. One example, is the Family Assistance Plan (FAP) that never got passed during the Nixon administration. However, the program was criticized because the minimum income level was actually less than the established poverty level and the work requirements for the able bodied poor included mothers with children over three years of age (Chapin, 2014, p.87). This policy was not passed because of these issues, however, they are now part of TANF today. For this reason, we tend to seek out that approval from others including our parents, friends, and other loved ones. Flannery O Connor s story, Good Country People, focuses on this particular theme. In her narrative, a young girl named Joy Hopewell longs for her mother s approval. When she does not find it, Joy begins to believe that she is unworthy of anyone s admiration. This basic premise allows for Manley Pointer to easily win Joy s trust. Instead, she chooses to wear a six year old skirt and a yellow sweat shirt with a faded cowboy on a horse embossed on it (133). ANALYSIS ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALING OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS (LITERATURE REVIEW) Since the concept of wound bed preparation arose (Schultz et al, 2003), striving to achieve a wound environment that is conducive to healing has become increasingly important (Dowsett, 2002). Debridement plays a crucial role in this concept. Eliminating non viable tissue from wound bed which acts as a significant barrier to wound repair if not removed (Dowsett and Claxton, 2006). The presence of necrotic tissue in wound has known deleterious effects including sepsis and delayed healing. Debridement is therefore an essential adjuct in treatment of non healing ulcer (Anu, Emane and Morris, 2001). Debridement is the removal of devitalized or contaminated tissue within or adjacent to wound until surrounding tissue is exposed (Smith, 2002).According to International Diabetic Federation (2004), removal of dead or devitalized tissue is paramount for effective wound care of DFUs. Frykberg et al, (2006) advocate regular debridement to remove necrotic tissue and reduce burden in order to expedite wound healing. Although it is widely accepted that debridement may be necessary for optimal wound healing for DFUs, evidence from randomized trials relating to the effectiveness of its different method is lacking and method of measuring its effectiveness are poorly developed (Haycock and Chadwick, 2012). • 40. Dreams, By Sigmund Freud A person s dreams appear to have a universal language. In ancient societies, people looked at dreaming as some kind of supernatural communication and dreams are fascinating mysteries. To begin the discussion of dreams, it is important to note that dreams are often considered an extension of consciousness. In other words, dreams can be a way the brain organizes and analyzes the day to day events during sleep. Everyone dreams, however, not everyone remembers their dreams. The psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud, theorized that dreams bury themselves in unconscious emotions and as we sleep our mind releases these emotions in the form of dreams. He also theorized that dreams are ways in which people act out suppressed desires. The Interpretation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This theory was a good method of explaining dreams, but it did not predict behavior. In other words, one cannot prove or refute the validity of Freud s theory. According to Ciccarelli and White (2015), many of today s professionals no longer appreciate Freud s dream theory (151). Nevertheless, Freud s legacy lives on as The Father of Psychoanalysis (Robinson 2011) and a pioneer in the study of dreams. Even though, the theory proposed by Freud appears decidedly unscientific. The unconscious mind was important in Freud s work and the Freudian theory emphasized that the unconscious mind governed behavior. Additionally, to study Freud, one must investigate his theory of manifest content and latent content. While reading Freud, a student learns that the actual content of the dream refers to manifest content. That is to say, the exact subject matter of the dream makes up the manifest content. At the same time, Freud believed that the real meaning of a dream referred to latent content. An individual s personal interpretations define the latent content in Freud s theory. Although rarely recognized, Freud s career was first and foremost a practitioner Moran 2010). As a psychotherapist Freud believed that dreams come from deep in the unconscious mind. Perhaps even from things suppressed since childhood. The study of dreams helped Freud understand the process of psychoanalyzing people and he believed dreams were a ... Le Guin agrees with this definition and states that pulling back from reality in order to see it better, is perhaps the essential gesture of science fiction. Butler (2004) has the similar idea that fantasy is what allows us to imagine ourselves and others otherwise (p.28). Two science fiction feminist texts The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K.
