The Influence Of River Civilization On The People Of Egypt
Water played a big role in Egypt s ability to develop as a civilization. Therefore, Egypt is also known
as a river civilization because the Nile River had a huge influence on the lives of the people. It literally
meant the difference between life and death to the Egyptians because they depended on it for drinking,
bathing, and watering crops. Since Egypt has been a land of contrasts, a place of hot sunny days and
cold nights, of rop laden fields and empty desert , it was necessary to use the Nile to their advantage
(Background Essay). The people of Egypt shaped their lives around the river and it still provides
valuable resources to this day.
The Nile River changed farming, trade, settlement, and religion for the Egyptians. The river

A Brief Note On Good News For Trail Pounders !
Not far from Ebbetts Pass in Alpine County, sapphire blue Highland Lakes nest in a sub alpine flat
within Carson Iceberg Wilderness at 8,600 feet elevation. Flanked by Hiram and Folger Peaks, the
lakes are located six miles off Highway 4 via a lumpy dirt road. Surprisingly, though the scenery in
this neck of the woods is utterly spectacular, it is very lightly visited. Truth is, the 161,000 acre
wilderness bordering Ebbetts Pass sees fewer people than any area in the entire Sierra Nevada. Good
news for trail pounders! One explanation for a lonely landscape is the scarcity of lakes. But, there are
plenty of streams; the East Fork Carson River among them is a trout filled beauty. If you are jonesing
for trails that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That said, this wilderness shows more evidence of volcanism than any other part of the Sierra south of
the Lassen region. Highland Lakes offer a smorgasbord of recreation for outdoor enthusiasts.
Kayaking or canoeing on one of the lakes is bliss in this scenic, peaceful environment. Additionally, a
trail from the easternmost lake crosses big beautiful Gardner Meadow and leads to petite Asa Lake
and connects with the Pacific Crest Trail. A trail from the top of the campground across from the
western lake leads to a jaunt up Folger Peak, a non technical hike. Across from the same lake, hikers
can pick up an unofficial use trail to the base of Hiram Peak. Hiram Peak is also a non technical trek,
although along a stretch of ridgeline near the top, acrophobes will get the willies and should stop.
Views from the rather exposed section are nearly as panoramic as from the summit. A stroll around the
lakes is possible, too. Try your luck catching a trout or two for your supper. How about taking a swim?
Of course, there s always relaxing in camp with a good book or catching 40 winks. In my view,
Highland Lakes environs are a fine place to introduce kids to wilderness activities, especially the short
hike to Asa Lake. Here is how to get there. The signed Highland Lakes junction (8N01) is one mile
west of Ebbetts Pass on Highway 4. The forest route is not recommended for trailers and big rigs.

Argumentative Essay About Sexual Identity
Introduction: Sexual Identity is at the core of several contemporary debates ranging from identity to
the discussion on the abuse of power. Here in the early stages of the twenty first century fluid sexual
identity is culturally acceptable in the United States, a person can identify with being a man, and in the
matter of moments identify with being a woman. Amid this cultural phenomenon, the church is
wrestling with ancient sacred scriptures that give conflicting messages concerning sexual identity and
leadership. Traditional interpretation of key texts has unfortunately contributed to an uncomfortable
history of abuse and subjection of women in the church and home. As feminism rose to cultural
prominence, the church used scripture to defend

Angel Pottery Case Paper
Angel Pottery has primarily focused on producing serving bowls and sugar bowls for customers. The
company is eager to launch a new product which will be mugs. This new product was selected largely
due to customer interest for this type of product. The goal is to produce 25 mugs per week. The
estimated cycle time of each product is twenty one days from beginning of production to distribution
to customer.
Focusing on the production of five mugs per shift and running one shift per day during a five day
work week might result in a bottleneck during the firing phase of production. This could happen
because the potter can produce more mugs per week than can be fired in one kiln firing. The kiln can
hold three shelves of four mugs for a total of twelve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Vorne, The Theory of Constraints is a methodology for identifying the most important
limiting factor (i.e. constraint) that stands in the way of achieving a goal and then systematically
improving that constraint until it is no longer the limiting factor. In manufacturing, the constraint is
often referred to as a bottleneck (2016). As the WIP collects on inventory shelves, there is greater
evidence that the kiln firing process is a bottleneck for production. This constraint in the process could
be alleviated by adding an additional kiln to the firm. Anjoran stated, One way to reduce the impact of
bottlenecks is to Adding capacity by increasing resources (men, machines...) this is often done best
with inexpensive, low tech, low complexity equipment that will be down less often than a complex,
high tech solution
(2016). In the case of Angel Pottery, the purchase of a second kiln (low tech resource) could help to
alleviate the bottleneck that exists due to limited space kiln space. Lean management could be applied
to increase productivity and improve cycle times. With the constraint of firing space alleviated by
capital expenditure on a second kiln, pull from the customer or demand will drive production. This

Alexander depiction of the criminal justice system as the new Jim Crow, I agree with this depiction.
Moreover, to understand what Jim Crow of the 1950 s and 60 s were, fully grasp Alexander depiction

Mourning and Melancholia in Hemingway’s For Whom the Bell...
Mourning and Melancholia in Hemingway s For Whom the Bell Tolls Ernest Hemingway s For Whom
the Bell Tolls (1940) begins with a quotation from John Donne s Meditation XVII. With this epigraph,
Hemingway identifies the source of his title and defines the connections achieved between human
beings through mourning.: Donne s argument begins, No man is an island, and it concludes with an
assertion of our bond to the dead: never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. Proper
mourning acknowledges the losses to our self in the death of another. Hemingway s For Whom the
Bell Tolls depicts such connections to the dead and examines the emotional effects of incomplete
mourning in terms that parallel Freud s own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both works, Hemingway praises the volunteers who died fighting to protect republican values. In an
introduction to the Eulogy written after World War II, Hemingway scolded America for its failure to
support these premature antifascists (Nelson 26). At another point, he explains this failure: The
majority of the career diplomats of England, France, and the United States , are fascist, and it is they
who supply the erroneous information on which their foreign offices and state departments act (Hem
on War, 293). The ideologies of the diplomats led to the great bloodbath of the Second World War.
Hemingway helps us to mourn the deaths of Jordan and the other volunteers because he affirms that
they are, in fact, unacknowledged instances of our own losses. Yet, many of the volunteers in the
International Corps during the Spanish Civil War felt betrayed by Hemingway s depictions of literary
and historical characters and events. Some of the veterans criticized the lack of political ideology in
the central character, the literary self indulgence of the love relationship between Jordan and Maria,
and the negative depictions of several of the leaders of the Republican forces. Pilar s narrative
describing the massacre of civilian villagers provoked the sharpest criticism. According to Milton
Wolff, many veterans felt that Hemingway had 2 Page 3 ignored fascist atrocities and betrayed loyalist
soldiers who had been killed or wounded in Spain. Wolff also

Comparing Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing Essay
Comparing Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing
As illustrated by the two plays Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing, William Shakespeare
was a true romantic. In each play, his characters suffer great hardship, but in the end, he delivers them
to a life of eternal love. Characters plot against each other in each play. The relationships of the people
in his plays are not always what they seem. Whether it be a tragedy or a comedy, Shakespeare
encompasses three elements into his plays: love, intrigue, and identity.
Love is the biggest theme in both Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing. In both plays, hate
acts as a force that attempts to tear both lovers apart, but their love holds them together. In Romeo and
Juliet, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nurse makes it possible for Romeo and Juliet to be married by relaying information between the
two. In Much Ado About Nothing, Beatrice and Benedick also have liaisons. Friends of Beatrice give
the illusion that Benedick is madly in love with Beatrice and Benedick s friends do the same.
Eventually, Benedick and Beatrice realize they are in love. They would have never gotten together if
the liaisons had not intervened.
Identity also plays a major role in both plays. In Romeo and Juliet, the lovers would never expect to
fall in love because they have been raised to hate each other s families. Romeo never would have
taken it upon himself to court someone in Juliet s family because in those two families it is considered
forbidden. Beatrice and Benedick from Much Ado About Nothing insulted each other every chance
they could. They considered their relationship as a friendly one, but until their friends set Beatrice and
Benedick up, they never thought they would fall in love with each other. Had both couples taken their
relationships at face value, they would never gotten together.
Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing, two very different plays; however, they both contain
love, intrigue and identity. Even with forces working against them, Romeo and Juliet and Claudio and
Hero fell in love and were married. Characters were able to fall in love with the aid of the liaisons who
helped them make sure things worked. Lovers would not have

Company Overview Of Coca Cola
Company Overview Are you a Coca Cola or Pepsi person? Well I personally prefer Coca Cola. In
1886 pharmacist Dr. John S. Pemberton founded Coca Cola. He desired to create a delicious soft
drink, so he conjured up a flavored syrup that might fill his desire. Pemberton then mixed the syrup
with carbonated water to get a final product ready for sampling. The people who sampled his creation
said that it was excellent. Frank M. Robinson is recognized for giving Pemberton s beverage the name
of Coca Cola and giving the beverage its trademark. Coca Cola then received the nickname Coke for
short. After inventing what has become the number one selling drink, Pemberton sold his company to

top. Overview of Major Product Coca Cola is the cool fizzy drink on a hot day many people long for.
It is one of the top products of this ever changing world. I chose Coca Cola because it is a gigantic,
world renowned product. Coca Cola also has another major competitor, Pepsi. I thought it would be
very interesting to see how Coca Cola tries to complete with Pepsi. Our customers include
hypermarkets, supermarkets, discounters, kiosks, petrol stations, cinemas, leisure parks, hotels,
restaurants and cafés, among others. The customers are a core value of Coca Cola. Coca Cola tries
their best to work together with customers to be the customer s first choice ( Customers, n.d.). To be
the customer s first choice, Coca Cola not only has to worry about their taste. Coca Cola must focus
on availability, affordability, acceptability, activation, and attitude. Being a great company with a great
product goes far beyond just the product. I think that the most important attributes that Coca Cola
focuses on outside of the product itself would be availability, affordability, and attitude. Customers
today want something easy to access, they want to work smarter, not harder. If prices are
unreasonable, that is an automatic turn

Essay on London s Economy
King (1990, page x) argues that the dissolution of empire has been critical to the growth of world
cities. How far does this apply to
London?
Modern patterns of development and growth have been shaped and influenced by the historical
context of colonialism. Within this context relationships between capitalist and pre capitalist states or
colonies helped forge a world economy, which would later lead to processes of globalisation and the
current economic world order.
Expansion in the world economy has been exacerbated by the freer flow of labour, goods, services and
capital, which are features of the post war, post colonial world. King contends that these factors have
been critical to the growth of world cities. (King, 1990: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
H.G Wells described his impression of imperial London:
It s a great place. Immense. The richest town in the world, the biggest port, the greatest manufacturing
town, the imperial city the centre of civilisation, the heart of the world. (Wells H.G, 1908:73)
In this essay I will be discussing the significance of King s argument with reference to the city of
London. Imperial London will be introduced followed by a discussion of London s decline and its
patterns of modern growth in order to ascertain how far King s argument applies to the City. Different
types of growth are included, but emphasis is largely placed on the geographical and economic
dimensions of London s change and development.
London s imperial role was crucial to the expansion of its fortunes.
Growth was inextricably linked with the colonial empire and took place in several key areas during
the colonial interlude. London s Docklands represented a melting pot of colonial trade and commerce
and were a critical facet of London s (and Great Britain s) economy that fed aspects of growth into the
city centre and enabled it to thrive. In
1700 London handled 80% of the country s imports and 69% of its exports. Trade with colonies in the
Caribbean, Southeast Asia and the
Indian Sub Continent brought in tea, china, rice, tobacco and spices to the City and in 1799 the West
India Company began to build docks on the Isle of Dogs

Essay On Affirmative Action In College Admissions
Affirmative Action in College Admissions Should Be Abolished
Every year, millions of students apply to colleges and universities in the United States. The status of
their application, whether they get accepted to or rejected by the school of their dreams, may
ultimately be determined by two words: affirmative action. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines
affirmative action as an effort to correct past injustices, means to right the wrongs of the past, positive
steps to correct past discrimination (Affirmative 1). However, for those exceedingly qualified
members of a majority group who do not get accepted while less qualified minority members do,
affirmative action begins to insinuate reverse discrimination, the unfair treatment of members of
majority groups resulting from preferential policies, as in college admissions or employment, intended
to remedy earlier discrimination against minorities (Reverse 1). Affirmative action is a topic of
contention that has been disputed in the court systems for roughly four decades. It is now time that
affirmative action in college admissions be abolished because it erroneously implies that diversity is
more imperative than merit and unjustifiably discriminates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Teaching and Student Experience
ABSTRACT: This paper focuses on novel approaches open to teachers of philosophy in particular, but
more generally also to other university teachers, in the face of what Allan Bloom saw as the waning of
a literary culture. It is argued that, although some of Bloom s suggestions regarding the successful
engagement of students interest against overwhelming odds are didactically valuable, he neglects
precisely those avenues from which students could benefit most on the basis of their own experience
in a world largely devoid of literary attachments but saturated with audiovisual ones. These options
are explored in some detail from various perspectives, including the difference ... Show more content

The reason behind this assumption is my belief that, even if Rorty were right that philosophy is just
one voice in the conversation of humankind or one language game among others and even if it does
not occupy a hierarchically superior position in relation to other conversation partners, it is not one
that we could blithely give up whenever we felt like it, as his own continued practice of it
demonstrates. To give up philosophizing would require that we first cease to be self conscious beings
not just conscious beings, but beings conscious of being conscious, or reflective beings, homo sapiens
sapiens. And the day we are no longer such beings, we would no longer be human, and I could well
imagine that philosophy would have no place in a world populated by such unreflective creatures.
Jean Francois Lyotard (1991) has hinted and I agree with him that our humanity is at present being
threatened by an inhuman system of global development, but also that the resources exist within us to
resist the dehumanizing effects of such a system, even if, in the process, we have to draw on
something within us which is inhuman in a different sense: the sense of that which will always escape
the various processes of rationalization (or normalization , Foucault would say) typical of an

Hack An Iphone Analysis
The articles of the constitution have withstood the change of time because our country founders
worded them in such a way so that principle ideas will never be questioned. The FBI in the case of one
of the California shooters, Syed Farook, pressured Apple to hack the phone without the search
warrant. The FBI shouldn t have pressured Apple to hack an iPhone because it breaches privacy, it
violates free speech, and it hurts apple s business.
From the business point of view of Apple, I have seen Arguments that Apple refused to unlock the
phone for business reasons, to protect the Brand. (2) This because Apple phone sales would decrease
because people of the world do not want to be tracked on their phones. Also, the company has a

Government has no right to force anybody to provide Services against their will. (2) If the U.S. did
force companies to provide services to violate personal privacy, freedom or speech, or fundamental
human rights, they would behave no differently than the governments of Russia or China. Unlike the
U.S., these governments have no respect for individual rights or free speech.
On the other hand, many people may argue that by hacking into the shooter s iPhone it would increase
national security. But, The Fourth Amendment was meant to protect Americans from illegal searches.
This means that police or other law enforcement can t search your home, car, or clothing without
permission from a court. It also guarantees Americans right to privacy... It doesn t say that a person s
home or belongings can t be searched at all. It does say that the government must have a good reason
for the search, or probable cause. And the government must get permission, in the form of a warrant
from a judge by showing probable cause. (1) That is because the fourth amendment gives us the right
to privacy.
All in all, Apple did choose the right thing of refusing to hack into the iPhone. If Apple would breach
the Phone, then they would break the constitution by going against the first and fourth amendment.
Also, if Apple did violate the device, then it would have hurt the brand name. To avoid any other

Structure Of An Essential Amino Acid
Task 2: Protein Structure
Task 2a: model of an essential amino acid.
Methionine (C5H11NO2S) is a Non polar (hydrophobic) essential amino acid that contains a sulfur
atom. According to Wolf (2000), a hydrophobic molecule such as Methionine is usually located near
the center of a protein covered by hydrophilic molecules.
The R group of Methionine is relatively non reactive. It, therefore, plays more structural protein roles
than functional protein (Betts Russell, 2003). Due to its non reactivity Methionine does not actively
participate in chemical reaction that occurs at the active site of an enzyme. However, the sulfur atom
has potential for oxidation (Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, University of
Arizona, 2003). Its flammability likelihood of low, but its combustibility potential can be realized at
high temperatures (Science lab, 2013).
Although the carboxyl end has a pKa of 2.28 and that of the amino end has a pKa pf 9.21 (Science lab,
2013), the R group of Methionine is neutral (Nave, 2012).
Task 2b: A series of diagrams, with clear labels, of the different levels of protein structure (i.e.
Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Quaternary).
Task 2c: diagram that demonstrates how a peptide bond is made through dehydration, using a
complete chemical equation.
Task 2d: diagram that demonstrates how a peptide bond is broken through hydrolysis, using a
complete chemical equation.
Task 2e: Explain the four forces (i.e. bonds or interactions) that

If, for example, money must be converted to another currency to make a certain investment, any
changes in the currency exchange rate cause that investment s value to either increase or decrease
when the investor sells and converted back into the original currency. This is a crucial concept that
cannot go undiscussed every time a foreign direct investment subjects. This is especially for a foreign
country because changes in the currency rates of the investment target country, where an international
enterprise invests, translates into changes in the value of the investment
The world of business has it that it is almost impossible for a unified entity or corporation to
determine or manipulate the exchange rates of a country or between countries. This is because the
factor contributes of currency exchange movements are numerous and include the forces of demand
and supply, oil prices and even politics! A corporation, however, can strive as hard as it can, to protect
itself from the risks involved in such currency exchange movements. The strategies involved help
reduce risks for the corporation.
When buying or selling foreign currency, a corporation can either do it as and when it needs to, at the
prevailing exchange rate, or try to transact when the currency exchange rate is at an advantage. A
remarkably simple form of currency hedging is exchanging the currency in parts. If the corporation is

Learning From Traditional Classroom And Learning
I have experience in both learning from the traditional classroom and learning from the online setting.
I can easily identify the differences between these two types of learning environments. The two main
differences can be divided by two categories which are flexibility and class discussions (Bethel
University, n.d.)
?There is far less flexibility in a traditional classroom (Bethel University, n.d.). As a formal student of
a traditional classroom learning environment, I had to physically drive to the college, carry my
textbooks everywhere, and attend class at a designated day and time each week. Since I didn t have
any children, I didn t have to be concerned with finding a babysitter (Bethel University, n.d.). At the
end of each school day, I had to pay for parking as I exited the campus parking garage. Online
learning can be conducted anytime and anywhere that has internet connection. The greater flexibility
involved with online learning can cause a lot of stress to a student. It would be easy for a student to
forget the weekly deadlines and the upcoming schedules (Bethel, University, n.d.). Students can suffer
from a perceived lack of guidance, may experience isolation, and will likely have technology issues
from time to time. (Bethel University, n.d., p. 7). In an online class discussion, words can be thought
of carefully and edited several times before it is posted permanently unlike the traditional classroom
which can t be edited after it has

This question can be answered by taking following 3 things in consideration.
1.1 Silvio¡¦s characteristics
This can be better explained by detailing his strengths and weaknesses.
1.1.1 Strengths:
As per Luc Bonnard, they trust him 100%, he has courage, he is young and flexible, he is generalist
not specialist, and willing to go to India.
So here is the list of his strengths with the reason why this strength makes him the right candidate for
the mentioned job.

„« Import duty and transfer cost went up in 6 months, financial planning was done with prices that
were 6 months back, so now square off period will be more than expected.
When this is compared with the business plan, we can say it is clearly not on track. Based on this
information we can conclude that the work was not done as per the plan and so the work was not
good.
If we just look at the end result, we may overlook the best management team that Mr. Napoli had
created. We may also overlook the groundwork Mr. Napoli had done for the start up in India.
„Ï Summary:
After carefully evaluating all the 3 points mentioned above, I can conclude that Mr Napoli was
certainly a good choice for the job looking at his strengths as his past experience and qualifications. In
my view the problem was with the aggressive business plan. I can see 2 flows with the business plan.
„« It was very aggressive. 50 units in the first year considering the new location, new setup, new tie

„« No customisation policy. I feel that the pre study of the Indian consumers was not done properly

Review Of Ruth Ozeki s My Year Of Meats
My Year of Meats is a novel by Ruth L. Ozeki, exploring the differences between the food cultures of
America and Japan with the culture of generalizations on both. Through the exploration of the
Japanese and American views and food culture, and beef products points out the differences in the
views of the people from the two countries. For example, Akiko s husband believes that, if she learns
to cook and eat an American diet full of meat, it would be easier for her to grow fatter and to get
pregnant (Ozeki 37). In his attempts to make his wife adopt the American diet, he compels Akiko to

In the book, the stereotypes hold in America are portrayed through Jane, who is of a Caucasian and
Japanese descent, and also Jane is the symbolic connection between the American and Japanese

American success and superiority of their diet styles including the success of Jane with the TV show

which he attributes to her Caucasian descent. Due to the perceived superiority established by the

Music Piracy Essay
Music Piracy: From the Pirates Perspective
I don t wear a black patch over my eye. I don t have any missing limbs, replaced by a hook or a
wooden leg that clicks when I walk. I have never owned a parrot; I don t have a cool name like Black
Beard or Calico Jack; I don t even have a big, black hat. Though I lack all the defining characteristics,
I am a pirate. My ship is a laptop computer and my booty is not measured by dollars and cents, but by
precious kilobytes. With the aide of my spy glass, the KaZaa Media Desktop, I discern my next target.
Wielding my trusty mouse, I make a few clicks, issue commands, board ship, and hijack the music
recording industry, claiming yet another copyrighted song as my own.

I sacrificed blood, sweat, and hours upon hours of my life, all for my love of music. After graduating
high school, I packed my bags, and my CD cases, and headed off to college. Then disaster struck.
When I arrived at my new home, I immediately scoured the streets, searching for a music store. I
found the only location in the area and excitedly perused the selection. When I picked up a copy of the
new Red Hot Chili Peppers CD, I was shocked. CD prices had spiked up to $18 and $19. Such a price
was unthinkable considering the new list of expenses that came with being on my own. Devastated, I
was forced to go home empty handed, defeated by the industry I had supported since I was a kid. For
the next two years I brooded over my dilemma, unable to satisfy my musical craving. As new albums
continued to come out, I was forced to rely on the radio, and that was no way to live. Then one day my
friend introduced me to KaZaa, and everything changed.
Napster had already been shut down, so at first I was timid. I knew sharing music was illegal, but
millions of other people were doing the same thing; and besides, after years of support, these
musicians owed me. I typed in Red Hot Chili Peppers, and soon I had a huge list of songs in front of
me. I clicked on Californication and watched my computer seize the promise of new music, a few
kilobytes at a time. When it finished, I listened to the song as loud as I could, just to convince myself

Asian American Culture In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club
Alternatively, the traditional practices of family continuity and hierarchy may be figured as
oppressively confining, as in Mirikitani s poem, in which the two generations of daughters contest the
more restrictive female roles of the former generations. In either case, many Asian American
discussions portray immigration and relocation to the United States in terms of a loss of the original
culture in exchange for the new American culture.
In many Asian American novels, the question of the loss or transmission of the original culture is
frequently represented in a family narrative, figured as generational conflict between the Chinese born
first generation and the American born second generation.2 Louis Chu s 1961 novel Eat a
Bowl of Tea, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I will argue that interpreting Asian American culture exclusively in terms of the master
narratives of generational conflict and filial relation essentializes
Asian American culture, obscuring the particularities and incommensurabilities of class, gender, and
national diversities among Asians; the reduction of ethnic cultural politics to struggles between first
and second generations displaces (and privatizes) inter community differences into a familial
opposition. To avoid this homogenizing of Asian Americans as exclusively hierarchical and familial, I
would contextualize the vertical generational model of culture with the more horizontal relationship
represented in Diana Chang s The Oriental Contingent. In Chang s short story, two young women
avoid the discussion of their Chinese backgrounds because each desperately fears that the other is
more Chinese, more authentically tied to the original culture. The narrator, Connie, is certain that her
friend Lisa never referred to her own background because it

Narcissistic Personality Disorder Essay
Everyone knows someone who seems to be completely wrapped up in themselves. They seem to only
care about themselves, and they seem to think that they are better than every one. Some of these
people probably have narcissistic personality disorder. This personality disorder is defined as, ...a
broad pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy (Comer, 2010, p. 531). People
with narcissistic personality disorder are convinced of their own greatness; whether it be their success,
artistic skill, or beauty. They also require the constant attention and admiration of the people around
them. But, this is not all that is involved in this disorder. People with narcissistic personality disorder
are extremely self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This too is typical of people with narcissistic personality disorder. People with this disorder tend to be
very picky, or choosey, when it come to who their friends and associates are. Since they consider
themselves to be special, they think that only those who are also special are deserving of their time. A
narcissistic personality may also surround themselves with dependent personalities, because those
with dependent personalities will give them the constant praise and adulation that they require. Again
we turn to Brother John for an example, He is an excellent teacher and has inspired many students. He
has always had a group of students, usually dependent personalities... (Rosetti, 1999). These students
would often be called upon to defend Brother John when his behavior was questioned by supervisors.
Brother John using his students in this way touches upon another trait common to those with
narcissistic personality disorder. People with this disorder are often manipulative, and use other to
achieve their own ends. According to Ronald Comer, they may do this partly out of envy (2010, p.
234). I think that it is more likely that this is just a branch of another common character trait amongst
those with narcissistic personalities, that being a lack of empathy. People with this disorder are seldom
interested in the feelings of others, and so they probably never take those feelings into consideration
when they are manipulating

Apocalyptic Rhetoric Analysis
The primary characteristics of Apocalyptic rhetoric are that the threat or change must be unexpected,

the wickedness of man. During, the time of Noah the Lord look upon the earth and saw the evils of
man and his heart. His heart was filled with sadness and he regretted ever making man. So the Lord
said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping
thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them. (New King James Version, Gen. 6.7)

Causes And Effects Of Climate Change
Climate Change
Climate change is an ever growing danger to us and the planet and the effects of it will be
catastrophic. Climate change will make the global temperatures rise which will melt the polar ice caps
putting many species at risk for extinction, it will also cause much stronger hurricanes and tornados
and other weather related problems, and the scary part is; there currently is no real marketable solution
to climate change that would not lower our living standards to what we had before the industrial
revolution. Scientists are convinced that if climate change is not stopped or at least weakened by the
year 2050, there will be no more polar ice in the north and south poles and there may be no snow in
the winter; which I find very concerning because this of course has drastic effects. I am afraid that
arctic animals like the polar bear, reindeer, arctic fox, seal, narwhal and many more will become
extinct and our great grandchildren won t be able to experience them like we were able to. Scientists
also say that the sea levels will most likely rise 4ft by the year 2100 and I know that does not sound
too bad, but trust me it is because may coastal cities and small villages located near the current sea
level will because uninhabitable for us and other land animals. This would negatively affect 100 s of
thousands of people and a lot of precious and rare ecosystems will be unfortunately destroyed.
I feel like another bad thing about climate change is the fact that the weather will change in negative
ways like making hurricanes and tornados much stronger and harder to combat which puts millions
upon millions of people s lives at risk.and will cost countries billions of dollars to repair the damages
caused by these stronger storms and if that is not enough, floods will also become a lot more common
do the rising sea levels and the increase in storms which can be deadly. I believe one of the worst
effects on the weather due to climate change is that fact that it will create more droughts due to the
high increases to the global temperatures and these droughts will have severe effects on the people
living in that area because typically when a drought is taking place, growing food is next to impossible
which

Experts know that there are many tricks and hacks regarding prices at Target and if they are used
correctly shoppers can reduce the price on what they are buying by quite a significant amount. For
example it is known that there are specific days where it is best to shop for certain categories of goods.
Mondays are the best days for purchasing electronics, accessories and books while Tuesdays are good
for women s clothing and food and Wednesdays are for men s clothing, toys and health products.
Thursdays are for home goods and shoes and lastly fridays are the best days to buy auto supplies,
cosmetics, hardware and jewelry. Another tip is to look at the ending of the price tag. If it ends in
$0.06 or $0.08 that means it will be marked down again...however, if the price ends in $0.04, that
means it is marked down as low as it will go (Hinkley). Overall, Targets tendencies with pricing relate

Counterpointed Characterization In Burning Down The House
Counterpointed characterization is seen in Aurora by Junot Diaz in the very beginning when the
narrator and Aurora are introduced. Charles Baxter explains counterpointed characterization in
Burning Down the House as, Stories often arise when two characters who hardly belong together are
forced to inhabit the same frame of reference, as they often must in families (Baxter 90). In other
words, that two characters are paired together that bring certain characteristics out of each other that
bring conflict. In the case of the narrator and Aurora in the story it is the relationship of a young
couple who believe they are, or could be good for each other if the circumstances were different. The
couple instead has a relationship that is quite toxic,

Ulysses S Grant Essay
Ulysses S Grant Although Ulysses S. Grant s contemporaries placed him in the highest position of
great Americans along with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, the twentieth century has seen
him fade. His presidency has been almost universally condemned, and he is consistently ranked
second to rock bottom Warren G. Harding in polls of historians to rate the presidents.
Although his military reputation has declined as well, it nevertheless continues to win him a steady
following. Even his most faithful admirers, however, tend to end their studies conveniently at
Appomattox, and one senses a wide regret that Grant s public career extended beyond the Civil War.
Taking note of this trend, John Y. Simon observes that some biographers ... Show more content on

His veto of the Inflation Act of 1874 and subsequent drive for what became the Resumption Act of
1875 shocked many who looked to Congress to cure the nation s economic ills, and the panic of 1873
came to an abrupt end when the act went into effect in 1879. The successful arbitration of the Alabama
and Virginus disputes mark not only foreign policy victories for the United States, but a significant
precursor to the future course of international affairs. The establishment of the principle of the
international arbitration through the Treaty of Washington, would later be embodied in the Hague
Tribunal, the League of Nations, the World Court, and the United Nations.
Grant s desire for peace was evident to me from the beginning of my research, but I did not realize
how far reaching it was until I noted the steadiness and rectitude he displayed throughout the
presidential electoral crisis of 1876 77, which could have become a disaster. Also remarkable to me
was Grant s Quaker Indian Peace Policy: on the eve of what could have become the complete
genocide of the American Indian, Grant acted decisively to begin two decades of reform that for the
first time promoted the welfare of Indians as individuals and broke ground for their eventual
citizenship.
However important these issues may seem, the traditional evaluation of Grant as president

  • 2. The Influence Of River Civilization On The People Of Egypt Water played a big role in Egypt s ability to develop as a civilization. Therefore, Egypt is also known as a river civilization because the Nile River had a huge influence on the lives of the people. It literally meant the difference between life and death to the Egyptians because they depended on it for drinking, bathing, and watering crops. Since Egypt has been a land of contrasts, a place of hot sunny days and cold nights, of rop laden fields and empty desert , it was necessary to use the Nile to their advantage (Background Essay). The people of Egypt shaped their lives around the river and it still provides valuable resources to this day. The Nile River changed farming, trade, settlement, and religion for the Egyptians. • 3. A Brief Note On Good News For Trail Pounders ! Not far from Ebbetts Pass in Alpine County, sapphire blue Highland Lakes nest in a sub alpine flat within Carson Iceberg Wilderness at 8,600 feet elevation. Flanked by Hiram and Folger Peaks, the lakes are located six miles off Highway 4 via a lumpy dirt road. Surprisingly, though the scenery in this neck of the woods is utterly spectacular, it is very lightly visited. Truth is, the 161,000 acre wilderness bordering Ebbetts Pass sees fewer people than any area in the entire Sierra Nevada. Good news for trail pounders! One explanation for a lonely landscape is the scarcity of lakes. But, there are plenty of streams; the East Fork Carson River among them is a trout filled beauty. If you are jonesing for trails that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That said, this wilderness shows more evidence of volcanism than any other part of the Sierra south of the Lassen region. Highland Lakes offer a smorgasbord of recreation for outdoor enthusiasts. Kayaking or canoeing on one of the lakes is bliss in this scenic, peaceful environment. Additionally, a trail from the easternmost lake crosses big beautiful Gardner Meadow and leads to petite Asa Lake and connects with the Pacific Crest Trail. A trail from the top of the campground across from the western lake leads to a jaunt up Folger Peak, a non technical hike. Across from the same lake, hikers can pick up an unofficial use trail to the base of Hiram Peak. Hiram Peak is also a non technical trek, although along a stretch of ridgeline near the top, acrophobes will get the willies and should stop. Views from the rather exposed section are nearly as panoramic as from the summit. A stroll around the lakes is possible, too. Try your luck catching a trout or two for your supper. How about taking a swim? Of course, there s always relaxing in camp with a good book or catching 40 winks. In my view, Highland Lakes environs are a fine place to introduce kids to wilderness activities, especially the short hike to Asa Lake. Here is how to get there. The signed Highland Lakes junction (8N01) is one mile west of Ebbetts Pass on Highway 4. The forest route is not recommended for trailers and big rigs. Follow the road for about ... Here in the early stages of the twenty first century fluid sexual identity is culturally acceptable in the United States, a person can identify with being a man, and in the matter of moments identify with being a woman. Amid this cultural phenomenon, the church is wrestling with ancient sacred scriptures that give conflicting messages concerning sexual identity and leadership. Traditional interpretation of key texts has unfortunately contributed to an uncomfortable history of abuse and subjection of women in the church and home. • 6. Angel Pottery Case Paper Angel Pottery has primarily focused on producing serving bowls and sugar bowls for customers. The company is eager to launch a new product which will be mugs. This new product was selected largely due to customer interest for this type of product. The goal is to produce 25 mugs per week. The estimated cycle time of each product is twenty one days from beginning of production to distribution to customer. Focusing on the production of five mugs per shift and running one shift per day during a five day work week might result in a bottleneck during the firing phase of production. This could happen because the potter can produce more mugs per week than can be fired in one kiln firing. The kiln can hold three shelves of four mugs for a total of twelve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Vorne, The Theory of Constraints is a methodology for identifying the most important limiting factor (i.e. constraint) that stands in the way of achieving a goal and then systematically improving that constraint until it is no longer the limiting factor. In manufacturing, the constraint is often referred to as a bottleneck (2016). As the WIP collects on inventory shelves, there is greater evidence that the kiln firing process is a bottleneck for production. This constraint in the process could be alleviated by adding an additional kiln to the firm. Anjoran stated, One way to reduce the impact of bottlenecks is to Adding capacity by increasing resources (men, machines...) this is often done best with inexpensive, low tech, low complexity equipment that will be down less often than a complex, high tech solution (2016). In the case of Angel Pottery, the purchase of a second kiln (low tech resource) could help to alleviate the bottleneck that exists due to limited space kiln space. Lean management could be applied to increase productivity and improve cycle times. With the constraint of firing space alleviated by capital expenditure on a second kiln, pull from the customer or demand will drive production. Moreover, to understand what Jim Crow of the 1950 s and 60 s were, fully grasp Alexander depiction of our current criminal justice system. Described by Alexander (2011) Jim Crow laws was placed throughout the South that institutionalized discrimination and racism. Blacks were denied the right to vote, access to education, employment, and housing. Consequently, allowing Alexander to draw her depiction of the New Jim Crow. As described by Alexander (2011) The mass incarceration of minorities. The denial of employment, housing and voting rights to people convicted of a felony crime. Thus, illustrating the correlation between the passed Jim Crow and as depicted by Alexander, the current New Jim Crow. The racial and class disparities are intersectionationalty. We see intersectionality within our current justice system. To understand, the racial disparities within our justice system as described by Krimsky and Simoncelli (2017) one must first understand the laws and the classification of crime that these disparities stand on. • 8. Mourning and Melancholia in Hemingway’s For Whom the Bell... Mourning and Melancholia in Hemingway s For Whom the Bell Tolls Ernest Hemingway s For Whom the Bell Tolls (1940) begins with a quotation from John Donne s Meditation XVII. With this epigraph, Hemingway identifies the source of his title and defines the connections achieved between human beings through mourning.: Donne s argument begins, No man is an island, and it concludes with an assertion of our bond to the dead: never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. Proper mourning acknowledges the losses to our self in the death of another. In an introduction to the Eulogy written after World War II, Hemingway scolded America for its failure to support these premature antifascists (Nelson 26). At another point, he explains this failure: The majority of the career diplomats of England, France, and the United States , are fascist, and it is they who supply the erroneous information on which their foreign offices and state departments act (Hem on War, 293). The ideologies of the diplomats led to the great bloodbath of the Second World War. Hemingway helps us to mourn the deaths of Jordan and the other volunteers because he affirms that they are, in fact, unacknowledged instances of our own losses. Yet, many of the volunteers in the International Corps during the Spanish Civil War felt betrayed by Hemingway s depictions of literary and historical characters and events. Some of the veterans criticized the lack of political ideology in the central character, the literary self indulgence of the love relationship between Jordan and Maria, and the negative depictions of several of the leaders of the Republican forces. Pilar s narrative describing the massacre of civilian villagers provoked the sharpest criticism. • 9. Comparing Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing Essay Comparing Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing As illustrated by the two plays Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing, William Shakespeare was a true romantic. In each play, his characters suffer great hardship, but in the end, he delivers them to a life of eternal love. Characters plot against each other in each play. The relationships of the people in his plays are not always what they seem. Whether it be a tragedy or a comedy, Shakespeare encompasses three elements into his plays: love, intrigue, and identity. Eventually, Benedick and Beatrice realize they are in love. They would have never gotten together if the liaisons had not intervened. Identity also plays a major role in both plays. In Romeo and Juliet, the lovers would never expect to fall in love because they have been raised to hate each other s families. Romeo never would have taken it upon himself to court someone in Juliet s family because in those two families it is considered forbidden. Beatrice and Benedick from Much Ado About Nothing insulted each other every chance they could. They considered their relationship as a friendly one, but until their friends set Beatrice and Benedick up, they never thought they would fall in love with each other. Had both couples taken their relationships at face value, they would never gotten together. Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing, two very different plays; however, they both contain love, intrigue and identity. Modern patterns of development and growth have been shaped and influenced by the historical context of colonialism. Within this context relationships between capitalist and pre capitalist states or colonies helped forge a world economy, which would later lead to processes of globalisation and the current economic world order. Expansion in the world economy has been exacerbated by the freer flow of labour, goods, services and capital, which are features of the post war, post colonial world. Imperial London will be introduced followed by a discussion of London s decline and its patterns of modern growth in order to ascertain how far King s argument applies to the City. Different types of growth are included, but emphasis is largely placed on the geographical and economic dimensions of London s change and development. London s imperial role was crucial to the expansion of its fortunes. Growth was inextricably linked with the colonial empire and took place in several key areas during the colonial interlude. London s Docklands represented a melting pot of colonial trade and commerce and were a critical facet of London s (and Great Britain s) economy that fed aspects of growth into the city centre and enabled it to thrive. • 15. Essay On Affirmative Action In College Admissions Affirmative Action in College Admissions Should Be Abolished Every year, millions of students apply to colleges and universities in the United States. The status of their application, whether they get accepted to or rejected by the school of their dreams, may ultimately be determined by two words: affirmative action. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines affirmative action as an effort to correct past injustices, means to right the wrongs of the past, positive steps to correct past discrimination (Affirmative 1). However, for those exceedingly qualified members of a majority group who do not get accepted while less qualified minority members do, affirmative action begins to insinuate reverse discrimination, the unfair treatment of members of majority groups resulting from preferential policies, as in college admissions or employment, intended to remedy earlier discrimination against minorities (Reverse 1). Affirmative action is a topic of contention that has been disputed in the court systems for roughly four decades. Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Teaching and Student Experience ABSTRACT: This paper focuses on novel approaches open to teachers of philosophy in particular, but more generally also to other university teachers, in the face of what Allan Bloom saw as the waning of a literary culture. It is argued that, although some of Bloom s suggestions regarding the successful engagement of students interest against overwhelming odds are didactically valuable, he neglects precisely those avenues from which students could benefit most on the basis of their own experience in a world largely devoid of literary attachments but saturated with audiovisual ones. These options are explored in some detail from various perspectives, including the difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason behind this assumption is my belief that, even if Rorty were right that philosophy is just one voice in the conversation of humankind or one language game among others and even if it does not occupy a hierarchically superior position in relation to other conversation partners, it is not one that we could blithely give up whenever we felt like it, as his own continued practice of it demonstrates. To give up philosophizing would require that we first cease to be self conscious beings not just conscious beings, but beings conscious of being conscious, or reflective beings, homo sapiens sapiens. And the day we are no longer such beings, we would no longer be human, and I could well imagine that philosophy would have no place in a world populated by such unreflective creatures. Jean Francois Lyotard (1991) has hinted and I agree with him that our humanity is at present being threatened by an inhuman system of global development, but also that the resources exist within us to resist the dehumanizing effects of such a system, even if, in the process, we have to draw on something within us which is inhuman in a different sense: the sense of that which will always escape the various processes of rationalization (or normalization , Foucault would say) typical of an ... Methionine (C5H11NO2S) is a Non polar (hydrophobic) essential amino acid that contains a sulfur atom. As new albums continued to come out, I was forced to rely on the radio, and that was no way to live. Then one day my friend introduced me to KaZaa, and everything changed. Napster had already been shut down, so at first I was timid. I knew sharing music was illegal, but millions of other people were doing the same thing; and besides, after years of support, these musicians owed me. I typed in Red Hot Chili Peppers, and soon I had a huge list of songs in front of me. I clicked on Californication and watched my computer seize the promise of new music, a few kilobytes at a time. When it finished, I listened to the song as loud as I could, just to convince myself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Asian American Culture In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club Alternatively, the traditional practices of family continuity and hierarchy may be figured as oppressively confining, as in Mirikitani s poem, in which the two generations of daughters contest the more restrictive female roles of the former generations. In either case, many Asian American discussions portray immigration and relocation to the United States in terms of a loss of the original culture in exchange for the new American culture. In many Asian American novels, the question of the loss or transmission of the original culture is frequently represented in a family narrative, figured as generational conflict between the Chinese born first generation and the American born second generation.2 Louis Chu s 1961 novel Eat a Bowl of Tea, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, I will argue that interpreting Asian American culture exclusively in terms of the master narratives of generational conflict and filial relation essentializes Asian American culture, obscuring the particularities and incommensurabilities of class, gender, and national diversities among Asians; the reduction of ethnic cultural politics to struggles between first and second generations displaces (and privatizes) inter community differences into a familial opposition. To avoid this homogenizing of Asian Americans as exclusively hierarchical and familial, I would contextualize the vertical generational model of culture with the more horizontal relationship represented in Diana Chang s The Oriental Contingent. In Chang s short story, two young women avoid the discussion of their Chinese backgrounds because each desperately fears that the other is more Chinese, more authentically tied to the original culture. The narrator, Connie, is certain that her friend Lisa never referred to her own background because it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Narcissistic Personality Disorder Essay Everyone knows someone who seems to be completely wrapped up in themselves. They seem to only care about themselves, and they seem to think that they are better than every one. Some of these people probably have narcissistic personality disorder. This personality disorder is defined as, ...a broad pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy (Comer, 2010, p. 531). People with narcissistic personality disorder are convinced of their own greatness; whether it be their success, artistic skill, or beauty. They also require the constant attention and admiration of the people around them. But, this is not all that is involved in this disorder. People with narcissistic personality disorder are extremely self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This too is typical of people with narcissistic personality disorder. People with this disorder tend to be very picky, or choosey, when it come to who their friends and associates are. Since they consider themselves to be special, they think that only those who are also special are deserving of their time. A narcissistic personality may also surround themselves with dependent personalities, because those with dependent personalities will give them the constant praise and adulation that they require. Again we turn to Brother John for an example, He is an excellent teacher and has inspired many students. He has always had a group of students, usually dependent personalities... (Rosetti, 1999). These students would often be called upon to defend Brother John when his behavior was questioned by supervisors. Brother John using his students in this way touches upon another trait common to those with narcissistic personality disorder. People with this disorder are often manipulative, and use other to achieve their own ends. According to Ronald Comer, they may do this partly out of envy (2010, p. 234). I think that it is more likely that this is just a branch of another common character trait amongst those with narcissistic personalities, that being a lack of empathy. People with this disorder are seldom interested in the feelings of others, and so they probably never take those feelings into consideration when they are manipulating ... When I realized I actually wasn t all that excited because I had soccer tryouts on my birthday. Yes, I really do like soccer, but tryouts are not really that fun because it was a brand new league and I didn t know which team I wanted to be on either. I got accepted to both teams but I guess I wouldn t be able to play for 2 teams, but I also wanted to be with the kids or some of them that I was with last year. In the book of Genesis, there are two examples of when the Lord was disgusted with the wickedness of man. During, the time of Noah the Lord look upon the earth and saw the evils of man and his heart. His heart was filled with sadness and he regretted ever making man. So the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them. A few of the traits of an ISTP consisted of the individual living in the moment , Down to earth , Logic driven , unflappable , level headed , realistic , private , and quiet . The personality assessment described me pretty well with a percentage of 80. However, there were some aspects of the assessment I did not agree with wholeheartedly. The fifth is quiet, I am a person of little words and so I don t say much. I am more of a listener and tend to gather information in order to come to a conclusion regarding problem. • 34. Causes And Effects Of Climate Change Climate Change Climate change is an ever growing danger to us and the planet and the effects of it will be catastrophic. Climate change will make the global temperatures rise which will melt the polar ice caps putting many species at risk for extinction, it will also cause much stronger hurricanes and tornados and other weather related problems, and the scary part is; there currently is no real marketable solution to climate change that would not lower our living standards to what we had before the industrial revolution. Scientists are convinced that if climate change is not stopped or at least weakened by the year 2050, there will be no more polar ice in the north and south poles and there may be no snow in the winter; which I find very concerning because this of course has drastic effects. I am afraid that arctic animals like the polar bear, reindeer, arctic fox, seal, narwhal and many more will become extinct and our great grandchildren won t be able to experience them like we were able to. Scientists also say that the sea levels will most likely rise 4ft by the year 2100 and I know that does not sound too bad, but trust me it is because may coastal cities and small villages located near the current sea level will because uninhabitable for us and other land animals. This would negatively affect 100 s of thousands of people and a lot of precious and rare ecosystems will be unfortunately destroyed. I feel like another bad thing about climate change is the fact that the weather will change in negative ways like making hurricanes and tornados much stronger and harder to combat which puts millions upon millions of people s lives at risk.and will cost countries billions of dollars to repair the damages caused by these stronger storms and if that is not enough, floods will also become a lot more common do the rising sea levels and the increase in storms which can be deadly. I believe one of the worst effects on the weather due to climate change is that fact that it will create more droughts due to the high increases to the global temperatures and these droughts will have severe effects on the people living in that area because typically when a drought is taking place, growing food is next to impossible which ... Charles Baxter explains counterpointed characterization in Burning Down the House as, Stories often arise when two characters who hardly belong together are forced to inhabit the same frame of reference, as they often must in families (Baxter 90). In other words, that two characters are paired together that bring certain characteristics out of each other that bring conflict. • 37. Ulysses S Grant Essay Ulysses S Grant Although Ulysses S. Grant s contemporaries placed him in the highest position of great Americans along with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, the twentieth century has seen him fade. His presidency has been almost universally condemned, and he is consistently ranked second to rock bottom Warren G. Harding in polls of historians to rate the presidents. Although his military reputation has declined as well, it nevertheless continues to win him a steady following. Even his most faithful admirers, however, tend to end their studies conveniently at Appomattox, and one senses a wide regret that Grant s public career extended beyond the Civil War. Taking note of this trend, John Y. Simon observes that some biographers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The successful arbitration of the Alabama and Virginus disputes mark not only foreign policy victories for the United States, but a significant precursor to the future course of international affairs. The establishment of the principle of the international arbitration through the Treaty of Washington, would later be embodied in the Hague Tribunal, the League of Nations, the World Court, and the United Nations. Grant s desire for peace was evident to me from the beginning of my research, but I did not realize how far reaching it was until I noted the steadiness and rectitude he displayed throughout the presidential electoral crisis of 1876 77, which could have become a disaster. Also remarkable to me was Grant s Quaker Indian Peace Policy: on the eve of what could have become the complete genocide of the American Indian, Grant acted decisively to begin two decades of reform that for the first time promoted the welfare of Indians as individuals and broke ground for their eventual citizenship. However important these issues may seem, the traditional evaluation of Grant as president ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
