Expansion of the Eurozone
Expansion of the EUROZONE
Introduction
The euro zone which is officially called the euro area consists of 17 countries. In other words, it
consists of countries which are also part of the European Union. The European Union consists of
approximately 27 member states. For a country to be a member of the euro zone it is necessary for it
to be a member of the European Union. A single currency was introduced as a result of European
union reforms and the currency was named as the Euro . Those countries which adopted the Euro as
their currency by giving up their local currencies became the member states of the Euro Zones. These
countries include: Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland,
Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.
The Monetary policy of all the member states is the responsibility of the European Central Bank,
which is indirectly a part and parcel of the president of the bank and includes a central board of
European Bank which includes heads of national central banks. Though, some countries were granted
special permission under agreements with the European Union to use the Euro as their currency and
print them on their own but they did not become a member of the Euro zone as their monetary policies
were not under the control of the European Central Bank. These states that use the Euro as their
currency but do not form part of the Euro zone are called the micro states.

Explain Different Types Of Physical Abuse
Physical Physical abuse is where a child is being physically hurt or injured Characteristics include;
bruising on parts of the body (trunk, face , upper arms or any other unusual places), burns, bite marks,
fractures (particularly spinal). In under twos you may also notice swelling, an inability to move limbs
that they should be able to move, unexplained injuries, reoccurring injuries, withdraws from physical
contact (flinching or a fear of adults), the child may also wear cover up clothing. Emotional Emotional
abuse is where a child isn t given the love, attention or approval they need, a child may be continually
criticised , blamed for things and told that others are better than them. Characteristics include;

Calorimetry Lab Report Summary
Summary Questions:
1. What value(s) of ΔHrxn did you determine? Compare to the literature value. The first trial that
contained 10 mL of NaOH and 10 mL of CH3COOH produced a ΔHrxn of 13.11 kJ/m. The second
trial, which contained 15 mL of NaOH and 5 mL of CH3COOH resulted in a ΔHrxn of 7.864 kJ/m.
Based on the literature value of NaOH CH3COOH, 57.5 kJ/m, we were off by 44.39 kJ/m in the first
trial, and 49.64 kJ/m in the second trial.
2. How did concentration and/or volume differences affect the heat change (q) for each trial? When
the volumes of NaOH and CH3COOH were equal, the temperature increased by 5 degrees celsius.
When we performed a second trial and added 15 mL of NaOH and 5 mL of CH3COOH, the
temperature only showed an increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were also able to conclude that when you combine equal parts of an acid and base you can expect
to see a higher temperature change than you would if you added more parts of a base than a acid. Our
reasoning behind this conclusion is that when we added 10 mL of both solutions that temperature
increased by 5ºc, but when we added 15 mL of NaOH and only 5 mL of CH3COOH there was only a
temperature increase of 3ºc. In correlation, we calculated that when you have equal parts of acid and
base, the ΔHrxn will be higher than when you use more parts base than

An Analysis Of Pieces D Identites, And Aesthetics Of...
African cinema has certain aesthetics and politics that differ from cinema within the United States.
The politics and aesthetics of African film tends to reference themes of liberation, self identity and
allegories referring to colonialism. Three films that were viewed in class this year that display each of
these politics are Lumumba, Pieces D Identites, and Afrique, Je Te Plumerai. The first politic and
aesthetic African films tend to reference the most is liberation. A good example of a film that shows
this politic is the film Lumumba directed by Raoul Peck. This film was released in 2001 and is about
the life of the former prime minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Patrice Lumumba. The
film examines the liberation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good example of a film viewed during this semester with this aesthetic is Afrique, Je Te Plumerai.
This film was released in 1992 and directed by Jean Marie Teno. This film is about the history of the
west African country of Cameroon. This film starts with the first contact the area which would become
Cameroon had with European missionaries, to German and French colonialism, and finally to present
day and how the colonialism affected the people of Cameroon. This uses allegories for colonialism
through showing how the literature taught in schools and most of the books in the libraries are by
White authors and that they have very little literature by Black authors taught in schools or displayed
in libraries. Also the name of the film Afrique, Je Te Plumerai means Africa, I Pluck You . This is an
allegory of how colonialism has plucked all of the Cameroonian history from the people and has
replaced it with European history. This aesthetic would never be used in a Hollywood film due to the
fact that the United States is a country that goes around attacking and colonizing other countries for
their natural resources and to build an empire. Hollywood actually makes films with the complete
opposite of this aesthetic where the film its film is about how invading other countries and killing
people made U.S. soldiers sad. All in all African films have completely different politics and
aesthetics than films made in the U.S. The film Lumumba shows the politics of liberation. The film
Pieces D Identities shows the aesthetics of self identity. The film Afrique, Je Te Plumerai shows the
aesthetics of allegories of colonialism. In conclusion Hollywood would not dare to touch the politics
nor aesthetics of these films due to Hollywood s prejudices and other

Sentinel Event:
Sentinel events are a subset of medical adverse events. Events that require immediate attention are
called Sentinel Events. Joint Commission defines a sentinel event as an unexpected occurrence
involving death or serious physical or psychological injury, or the risk thereof. Serious injury
specifically includes loss of limb or function. The phrase or the risk thereof includes any process
variation for which a recurrence would carry a significant chance of a serious adverse outcome.
Sentinel Event identified by Joint Commission also include infant abduction or discharge to the wrong
family.

This root cause analysis team is multidisciplinary, the members being members of the relevant
departments, but not involved with the event. A facilitator from the legal office arranges meetings,
keeps minutes and writes up the final report.
The charge of the root cause analysis team is to explore all potential causes of the event, sort and
analyze these causes, identify risk reduction strategies, and implement a correction plan with a
timeframe for completion and monitoring.
The Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is a process for identifying the basic or causal factors that underlie
variation in performance. It should focus primarily on systems and processes, not on individual
performance. In order to get to the root of the problem, it is important to keep professional skepticism,
which requires a questioning mind. The goal is to identify potential improvements in processes or
systems that would tend to decrease the likelihood of such events in the future.
In carrying out a root cause analysis, it is helpful to re create the event with the staff involved in the
event.
Root cause analysis team formed to investigate the sentinel event presented in the case study included:

Manifest Destiny And Manifest Destiny
The currently functioning civilization is solely a result of events in history. Each and every major
event in history has a cause and effect. The effect of that event shapes the perception of different
contributors of society. In the mid 1930 s the Great Depression was a major event that had a
significant outcome that changed the perception of the economy. It made individuals more aware and
cautious about their finances. Along with making individuals more cautious it also shaped the United
States economically. Less than a century before, a similar occurrence took place in the United States.
Manifest Destiny allowed for the repercussion of the Ghost Dance. Manifest Destiny constructed how
Native Americans now view Americans while also shaping their culture traditions. The idea of
Manifest Destiny and the act of the Indian Removal was used as a guide in the future to change the
way the United States dealt peacefully with situations. These events and the outcomes lead to the
United States having the American Dream and allowing everyone freedom and opportunity. There is a
cause and effect relationship between Manifest Destiny and the Ghost Dance because the Ghost Dance
was a response, in the form of a theodicy, that showed the European Americans the destruction they
caused by force removing the Native Americans from the West.
A culture can spread its ideology through peaceful means or force. In the case of Manifest Destiny,
occurring in the mid 19th century, the European

Southwest Airlines Merger
BASIC STRATEGY: In order to make up for increasing expenses Southwest needs to expand. My
recommended strategy for Southwest to pursue, is to merge with Air Tran and expand into areas where
Air Tran has a heavy presence and Southwest has none. With Southwest having a weak presence in the
southeastern U.S., a key area to expand would be Atlanta s Hartsfield Jackson International, which is
the busiest airport in the U.S. There is obviously a need for the low air fare company at this site.
Southwest s unique approach of no extra charge for luggage and extra friendly service should help
Southwest. The merger is estimated to cost Southwest $1.4 billion dollars; Air Trans income for 2010
was around $128 million, and along with the 138 new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the process of the absorption, there will need to be strong communication to the customers to
let them know when exactly changes will be taking place. Updates should be kept daily on Southwest
s website and up to date information should be presented to all passengers when booking flights.
Television commercials should be ran (especially around the Atlanta area) showing newly remodeled
planes that once carried AirTran customers and show major improvements appealing to both
vacationers and business travelers. Strong communication on how the AirTran frequent flyer miles
will implemented by Southwest. This could be an area of major conflicts between Southwest and old
loyal AirTran customers, but strong communication could easily prevent many conflicts.
Shared Values: The unique culture and values of Southwest Airlines has been one of the key factors of
Southwest s success over the years. Southwest s CEO feels that the employees of Southwest are the
company s single greatest strength and most enduring long term competitive advantage. Getting
AirTran s acquired employees to commit to the shared vision of the company will be another key
implementation lever during the acquisition process. Southwest really values a fun and loving
atmosphere among employees and passengers. Employees and management go out of their ways to
implement these values and AirTran employees will be expected to share these values as well as
management strives for total alignment. (Successful

Human rights violations against women have, for too long, been denied the attention and concern of
international organizations, national governments, traditional human rights groups and the press.
Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of girls and women around the world continue to endure debilitating
and often fatal human rights abuses. These are only a few instances of abuse which occur every single
day all around the world. Human rights violations against women must be documented, publicized and
stopped.

Centuries of rule by various foreign authorities have reinforced the family as a location of power in
some Middle Eastern societies. (Ruggi, 144) Even today, the family is directly responsible for
defending its honor. In many communities, this means that murder in the name of honor is family
business, not frowned upon by the local community. As a result, the murderer is unlikely to be
reprimanded in court, and is seen as a hero by many.
One truly frightful story belongs to that of Samia Sarwar, a 29 year old Pakistani woman, mother of
two young boys. On April 6, Samia was sitting in the office of a leading human rights lawyer, Ms.
Hina Jilani, sister of another well known human rights activist and Supreme Court advocate, Ms.

The Software Development Life Cycle
The Software Development Life Cycle is a model, which consists of multiple steps or phases. This
model is used for the development of software or application. The purpose of SDLC is to make
software more efficient and effective. The life cycle typically has six phases. It starts with analysis and
design phase, then the implementation/ construction phase, testing phase, release or deployment phase
and ends with maintenance phase. The analysis phase determines why the need for the software arose,
the deliverables or outcome expected from the software or system and also identifies the various
requirements for the development. It is very important to involve users, stakeholders and working
engineers in this phase, to ensure that the Why criteria is thoroughly fleshed out. A well worked out
analysis phase will help developers and architects to successfully work on the given requirements in
the design phase. The design phase might also involve building several use cases and building
prototypes for users. Design can be logical design, physical design or architectural design. In the
construction phase, physical construction is done to complete the software (i.e. programming,
hardware, software and so on). The implementation phase turns the design into an actual product. The
next phase tests the software for possible vulnerabilities and bugs. This is to ensure that the product is
safe from possible security breach. The product is tested in the real world to see if it functions as

What Is Self Discipline Essay
We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it?
We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to
success, so why do we need self discipline?
We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to
get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less
weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general
question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals?
The general answer is: Lack of self discipline.
Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your
future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious
food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money
than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future.
Present steps determine future results.
Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future. ... Show more content on

We also know that successful persons became successful just by following these laws. Many experts
studied successful people for many years and wrote many rich useful books about them. One top
expert in this field, Brian Tracy, claims that one main skill that you need to achieve success is the
resource of self discipline. You may know many laws of success, and you may have a map for your
goals, but this map will not work if you do not exercise self control for your goals. It is a fact that 97%
of people do not write their goals, and this by itself is a major obstacle to success, but simply by
writing the goals is not enough unless it is combined with self discipline. It is your practical map for
success. It is your actual pragmatic steps that lead you to translating your goals into

Electricity Generation
Electricity generation is the process of creating electricity from other forms of energy.
The fundamental principles of electricity generation were discovered during the 1820s and early 1830s
by the British scientist Michael Faraday. His basic method is still used today: electricity is generated
by the movement of a loop of wire, or disc of copper between the poles of a magnet.[1]
For electric utilities, it is the first process in the delivery of electricity to consumers. The other
processes, electricity transmission, distribution, and electrical power storage and recovery using
pumped storage methods are normally carried out by the electrical power industry.

Compare And Contrast Referential And Descriptive Statistics

Descriptive and Inferential Statistics Paper
Statistics are used for descriptive purposes, and can be helpful in understanding a large amount of
information, such as crime rates. Using statistics to record and analyze information, helps to solve
problems, back up the solution to the problems, and eliminate some of the guess work. In Psychology
there has to be a variable or variables to be organized, measured, and expressed as quantities.

Simply put, it refers to both the process and the result. This illustrates the functions of statistics as
gathering, organizing, and analyzing data and also as drawing conclusions and forming hypotheses.
Descriptive and Inferential
One could describe descriptive statistics as collecting, organizing, summarizing and then presenting
data. Inferential statistics may be explained as making predictions, making inferences, determining
relationships, and hypothesis testing. To express the fundamental characteristics of the facts in a
certain examination one would use descriptive statistics. This type of statistics presents
straightforward outlines about the example and the quantity. Thus with detailed illustrative
examinations, they shape the base of nearly all quantitative analysis of data. To summarize a
collection of data in a clear and understandable way is the most essential use of descriptive statistics
(RVLS, 2009). Numerical and graphical are the two crucial methods in descriptive statistics. If one is
using the numerical style one may calculate statistics by using mean and average differences.
Descriptive statistics are usually recognized from inferential statistics. With descriptive statistics it is
simply describing what is or what the data shows (Social Research Methods, 2006). With inferential
statistics, it is trying to reach

The Golden Glove Short Story
The Golden Glove
I thought that everything had been a dream until I heard it... Practice! It was an extremely rainy day
and the ground was like stepping into tiny lakes. I was caught up in the moment when I remembered
that you need a glove to play baseball. I knew that rain could ruin your glove but I couldn t get the
sight of a perfectly stitched, woven, and laced glove being destroyed.
On the long drive to practice I watched as the enormous drops of rain were impeded by the windshield
and wiped away. My teammates were in the back of the car cracking jokes and singing to whatever
was on the radio. The drive went quick and when we arrived my mom exclaimed, Have fun at
practice!
Thanks! I muttered back.

I replied, Wet! But fun. My glove is ruined.
She answered back, There s nothing that would have ruined it. We just need to hang it up so it can air
dry.
Okay, I replied.
She walked down the stairs and into the laundry room, myself just a couple steps behind her. She
walked into the laundry room and snatched my glove out of my hands. As I watched her hang it she
was quiet and then left the room and went back upstairs.
I rearranged my baseball bag and left it outside in the garage. I came in the house a couple of times to
make sure that my glove was still in the laundry room. My baseball glove was slowly changing colors
back into a maroon. It dried for a couple days and the time went by slower than a turtle trying to run a
race.
When the glove was finally dry I oiled it and tightened up the laces. My baseball glove ended up being
okay. I was delighted when my glove still fit because I thought that it would shrink. I am very
protective over my glove and that is probably why I still use it

without the need to go to court. Here is an explanation of what collaboration is and how it can be
better than a traditional divorce.
Collaboration Is Not Mediation
Frequently, collaboration and mediation are thought to mean the same thing in divorce. They are not.
Mediation is an attempt to reach a settlement agreement prior to a divorce going to trial. It may prove
successful, but the cases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Collaborative law is a voluntary process that provides a venue to reach an amiable settlement. It
involves a binding agreement contract that both parties consent to as a way to avoid a time consuming
and costly divorce.
Why Collaborative Law Might Be Right for You
The thought of a divorce hearing can create an unparalleled level of anxiousness. Collaborative law by
its nature is designed to reduce the level of anxiety surrounding a divorce. There are three basic
reasons why using collaboration may be right for your situation.
Informal and Relaxed Setting
One of the most appealing aspects of collaborative law is that it can avoid the necessity of going to a
courtroom. While there may be a number of meetings between both parties and their legal
representation, each can take place in an informal, relaxed environment.
By avoiding the stressful litigation process, collaborative law spare families the inherent pressure of
courtroom divorce.
The Help of Outside Professionals
Unlike an official divorce proceeding, collaborative law allows outside professionals to help with the
process. They do not have to be called to testify. Each will be asked to attend a joint session to provide

The Origin Of The Dominican Republic Essay
To understand the way race has been shaped in the Dominican Republic is to take an in depth look at
the contextual influences that help to mold its nation. Their history began to take shape when Spanish
ships of Columbus arrived in 1492. It was the third landfall met by Columbus which named La
Española, but, was known as the island of Hispaniola. Today it is known as the Dominican Republic.
Columbus s arrival launched the complicated story of race, colonization and globalization for the
people who would inherit the land over the next four hundred years. Within fifty years of Columbus
arrival, hundred, if not thousands of indigenous inhabitants had been killed through brutal forced
labor, new diseases introduced from European and suicide (Guest).
The Spanish began to import African slaves in 1520. This make Hispaniola the first colony anywhere
in the region to import slaves to work the sugar plantations. It was for this reason, Torres Saillant
formulated the perception that the Dominican Republic is cradle of blackness in the Americas. As is
well known in modern times Hispaniola id divided; the France took and governed Haiti the western
third of the island, until they were overthrown by slave rebellion in the Haitian Revolution. The
eastern two third was governed by the Spanish, until Dominican nationalist declared independence
from Spain in 1821. Though Dominicans would revere their Spanish decent they are anti imperialistic.
Hispaniola has been a racially troubled

Literary Devices In The Bean Trees
The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver deals with many issues in the 20th century such as women
hood, motherhood and immigration laws. But this novel is much more than the issues presented. The
Bean Trees focuses on the importance of family and the love that is shared throughout the novel.
Barbara Kingsolver uses many literary elements to express this love and to overcome the challenges
that are within the book itself. Another piece of literature that compares to The Bean Trees is Women
Work by Maya Angelou. This poem compares not only because it was written during the same time
period but it also expresses the love that motivates these women to push through these difficult times.

In The Bean Trees, Taylor feels it doesn t matter whether or not turtle is her own child physically
because mentally she feels like her mother. Kingsolver shows Taylor s point of view in this quote, I ve
been thinking about that. About how your kids aren t really yours, they re just these people that you try
to keep an eye on, and hope you ll all grow up someday to like each other and still be in one piece.
This is an excellent example of point of view because it shows that Taylors realization that children
aren t really yours, they re just little people that you take care of until they can take care of
themselves. This is important because to Taylor it doesn t matter that Turtle isn t truly hers because she
believes that children aren t really yours and she loves her the same. Another example of this from the
novel is, That means you re my kid, I explained, and I m your mother, and nobody can say it isn t so.
This also shows that Taylor believe that Turtle is hers. The roles of women during this time period
were to tend to the household work; although the speaker does not want to she does it anyway because
she loves her mother. This poem is written in the third person point of view. The speaker is forced to
do all the household work. The speaker rarely goes outside and this is shown in the last few

Genetic And Non Genetic Mechanisms Of Inheritance Essay
Regina Noel
10/19/2016
Epigenetics: Genetic and Non Genetic Mechanisms of Inheritance When discussing the topic of
genetics, it is typically viewed from the perspective of Mendelian inheritance in which genes are
transmitted from parent to offspring solely through the use of genetic alleles, which are the alternative
form of genes that have varying DNA sequences and chromosomes that affect the phenotype, visual
gene trait (Toth. 2015). If and how a genetic trait is expressed is whether the alleles for that trait are
dominant or recessive. Dominant alleles are genes that have a higher probability of being expressed in
the offspring than a recessive allele. In the case of dominate alleles; there are two possible
combinations that its gene can still be expressed with, homozygous (which contains two dominant
alleles) and heterozygous (which contains a dominant and recessive allele). On the other hand,
recessive alleles can only be expressive if it is homozygous (which contains two recessive alleles)
(Reece et al. 2013). Since Gregor Mendel s discovery of alleles and genetic inheritance, there has been
research shows that there are more mechanisms of inheriting traits which do not include changing the
nucleotide sequence of DNA. This form of non genetic inheritance is called epigenetic modification.
One example of epigenetic modification is DNA methylation. DNA methylation is when methyl
groups, which are chemical groups that contain one carbon bound to three hydrogen atoms,

Blade Runner Human Quotes
What makes something or someone human can often be unclear. Humans have many preconceived
notions about who and what they are and what their rightful place in society is. These notions,
however, are frequently at odds with reality. The uncertainty of what makes someone human is
explored in Ridley Scott s classic science fiction film Blade Runner. Dr. Eldon Tyrell s Tyrell
Corporation created the replicants to be sub human servants that were clearly distinct from and
inferior to human beings; the replicants were intentionally designed to be unable to express emotions,
particularly empathy, which is believed to be a trait that only human beings can possess. Human
beings believe that the quintessential thing that makes them human and distinguishes ... Show more

Once Deckard becomes a blade runner again, he shows no respect for the replicants, brutally
murdering every one he can find. Deckard does not display human feelings; in fact, he appears to be
the epitome of inhumanity. Deckard does not demonstrate any feelings at all, particularly empathy.
When examined closely, this is Scott s way of suggesting the possibility that Deckard may, in fact, be
a replicant as his actions and character development closely resemble that of a replicant. It is possible
that Deckard could be murdering his own people , and he might not even know it. Over time, Deckard
eventually begins to demonstrate feelings towards others, especially Rachel. His feelings for Rachel
are evident when he asks her, Do you love me...and do you trust me (Scott). After Rachel replies that
she does, Deckard demonstrates his love for Rachel by giving her an emotional kiss on the lips. As
Deckard falls in love with Rachel, a moral issue emerges. That is, he still continues to hunt someone
whom he loves. Morality and ethics have been completely disregarded. As time goes by, though,
Deckard appears to become more sophisticated and develops a sense of morality. He chooses not to
kill Rachel, and instead runs away with her (Scott). Deckard s actions coincide with the actions of the
replicants. When the replicants were first created, they did not display emotions, but over time, the
replicants became more complex and began to develop human like qualities. Similarly, Deckard has
done the same thing in his lifetime and it leads back to the possibility of him being a replicant. The
boundary between humans and the replicants is rapidly becoming unclear. This creates a feeling of
uncertainty, which is frightening as it leads to the thought that humans cannot be sure about what
makes them human and consequently they cannot be sure if they are in fact human. This threatens the
perception that the real

The Mexican Revolution By Porfirio Diaz
Verdin, Ramon
Khan, Kamal
Santillan, Karen
Research Paper
The Mexican Revolution was brought on by tremendous disagreement among the Mexican people
over the dictatorship of President Porfirio I. Díaz. Diaz stayed in office for 34 years. During that time,
power was in the hands of only a few people. The people had no power to express their opinions or
select their public officials. Wealth was also in the hands of a few people. Porfirio pushed peasants off
of their lands and had business men take their land, they called the land haciendas. The dictator like
rule of Porfirio I. Diaz and the want of land were the reason for fighting in the Mexican Revolution.
The main antagonist of the Mexican revolution was Porfirio Diaz. Diaz became president of Mexico
in 1876. He was the autocrat who took full control of Mexico for 34 years. The revolutionist wanted a
democracy so they fought against his power. The political instability during this time was also a major
question in Mexico. Porfirio Diaz was very corrupt. He used his power as the president to his
advantage. The Mexican Constitution called for public election but Díaz and his supporters used their
political and economic resources to stay in power. He would often imprison his political opponents or
assassinate them just to keep his power over Mexico. This caused the citizens of Mexico to
increasingly oppose Porfirio Diaz and his regime.

Analysis Of The Short Story Arafat Ta Bir Cocuk
The short story, Arafat ta Bir Çocuk , has two protagonist characters who are mainly children living in
a foreign country. Yilmaz is one of them. He is the other of the society in which people generally
adopt certain kinds of belief, they have certain cultural values; therefore, there is no room for others
and these others are side lined in every activity in social life. Hence, the effect of being room less on
the character, Yılmaz, in a society he does not belong to sometimes reaches a serious point because of
the religious, ethnic, cultural features of the society and the fact that the people living in it are not
open to another face of world. Religion is the most important factor that affects Yılmaz s place on
society profoundly and makes him feel as an other and, it does cause him to take serious action against
local inhabitants of the country. Yilmaz is a Muslim; however, the country he lives in is Christian and
there are some crucial differences between them which render Yılmaz unnatural to the society and
marginal. Ethnic and cultural differences between Yılmaz and local inhabitants also play a great role
in badly construction of Yılmaz s psychological state. The two great dominant pictures of the world,
Orient (East) and Occident (West), are always in clash in the story. Yilmaz is an Oriental figure in
Occidental area; hence, his oriental possessions are cumbersome burdens on his shoulders in every
part of life. One of them that engenders

Jason states how Medea s irrational thoughts began even before his betrayal, he recalls Medea telling
him how she killed Pelia s in the cruelest possible way (l. 494). Medea then states how Jason is the
worst of men (l.494) because even though she borne him children (l. 496) he betrayed her to the point
where she cannot even return home since she has become/ an enemy to her own family (ll. 516 517).
The nurse stood up and described Medea as a terror which reflects that there s no way to be her enemy
and come out as a victor (ll. 50 51). Even though Jason explains how he offered help earlier in the play
for their children s future, Medea is prideful and refuses to accept anything from Jason (640 641).
Jason justifies Creon s decision, to exile Medea, because he believed that Medea was a threat since she
spoke against the royal family (l. 463). The audience notices that Medea is quiet and wise when
planning her revenge when she states that she will kill in silence, by deceit (l. 400). This foreshadows
the idea of how Medea decides to slaughter her own children with a sword (l. 1371) in order to enjoy
destroy[ing] Jason leaving him childless (ll.1372, 1373). Jason testifies against Medea and the jury
decides to charger her for first degree murder since she killed her children with her own bare hands.
Jason explains to the jury that Medea is put in exile because of her own foolish words which were that
she spoke against the royal family (ll. 455 460). The Chorus testifies against Medea by repeating one
of Medea s statements in the play which was when a woman is faced with injustice in the bedroom,

Potential dog owners typically have a breed of dog in mind when trying to purchase a new friend.
These breeds are usually purebred dogs because new owners do research on different types of dogs to
find the best match for their families. What they do not know is that most shelters do carry purebred
dogs, in fact 25 percent of dogs in shelters are purebred. As Cabral states, Before getting a dog from a
breeder, visit your local shelter and contact breed specific recuse shelters for a specific breed of dog.
Meaning, even though private breeder do have purebreds, be sure to check breed specific rescue
shelters that are available for ever breed of dog there is. Not only do people associate the factor of
purebreds being associated with private breeders, but they believe the myth of dogs from breeders
being a superiority as well. Consumers looking for a new family pet are willing to pay exuberant
amounts of money for a purebred dog because they are told that the puppy has been raised in a loving
environment and will grow up to have a friendly disposition with minimal health problems, (Henn).
These customers are under the assumption that because they are being raised by one person in an open
place, they automatically are free from behavioral and health issues, when this is not the case at all.
This myth has been around since breeders began, and they will not deny this either because it gets
them more money and customers. Yet, this could not possibly be true because

home security. It is a 4 zone system with house around 3000 sq. ft. in mind. Apartments, condos,
businesses and offices would do well with this system. Rolling or hopping code eliminates false
alarms and restricts access from unwanted listeners that can capture and use your personal security

options in the programmable Lighted keypad so it helps cut the time of set up. Customers rave over
the loudness of the product. It is a clear piercing siren sure to paralyze intruders in their tracks, and
ward off repeat visits. With it being tamper resistant the safety of wireless connections diverts a line

A Brief Note On William Edward Hartpole Lecky
There are times in the lives of most of us, when we would have given all the world to be as we were
but yesterday, though that yesterday had passed over us unappreciated and unenjoyed. William
Edward Hartpole Lecky THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS When my dad passed away last July, it
was tough. It was halfway through the summer, I had just graduated from high school, and I was
preparing to embark on the exciting and nerve wracking journey that is college. All the while, I was
living life in my own little world, detached and disconnected from those closest to me. Most of my
days consisted of working one job or another (at the time I was juggling three, for no justifiable
reason), and my days off consisted of sleeping in, spending lazy afternoons by the pool, evenings by
the fire with friends, and late nights of Netflix. But I got lost in that little world. I forgot to be present,
mindful, and most of all appreciative. So when my dad, who was neither sick nor ill, didn t wake up
from his sleep one morning, Reality didn t just bring me back down to earth. It hit me. Hard. In the
first few nights after my dad passed away, I couldn t sleep. During the day, I couldn t eat. In the
mornings, I would step into the shower, curl into a ball, and hope that the sound of the water running
would muffle my wailing and sobbing. In the face of it all, I had the misconception that it was my
responsibility and duty to never shed a tear around others, to always maintain an optimistic tone,

Don Marquis s Lesson Of The Moth
The suicide of the moth, the immolation on a cigar lighter, is a literal presentation of his ideas for life.
In the poem Lesson of the Moth by Don Marquis, two conflicting opinions about life face each other.
There is a cockroach named archy that thinks you should live your life as long as you can, and an
unnamed moth that wants to live life to the fullest, even if it means dying early. The lesson in this
poem is that there are several conflicting ideas to everything. Throughout the story, archy and the
moth show their conflicting views on life. One excerpt where archy shows his views is i do not agree
with him myself i would rather have half the happiness and twice the longevity . What archy is saying
is that he would like to live a long life, even if he is not as happy as someone who lives a short live but
is very happy during their life. The moth thinks of it differently. He says plenty of [sense] he answered
but at times we get tired of using it and crave beauty and excitement fire is beautiful and we know that
if we get too close it will kill us but what does that matter it is better to be happy for a moment ...

archy talking about how he disagrees with his beliefs that he just killed himself for. These different
views are very apparent placed so close to each other. The reason that he juxtaposed these two views
was to show how different they are and how extreme the moth s views were compared to archy s, and
also to show that there were at least 2 extremely differing opinions about

  • 2. Expansion of the Eurozone Expansion of the EUROZONE Introduction The euro zone which is officially called the euro area consists of 17 countries. In other words, it consists of countries which are also part of the European Union. The European Union consists of approximately 27 member states. For a country to be a member of the euro zone it is necessary for it to be a member of the European Union. A single currency was introduced as a result of European union reforms and the currency was named as the Euro . Those countries which adopted the Euro as their currency by giving up their local currencies became the member states of the Euro Zones. These countries include: Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. The Monetary policy of all the member states is the responsibility of the European Central Bank, which is indirectly a part and parcel of the president of the bank and includes a central board of European Bank which includes heads of national central banks. Though, some countries were granted special permission under agreements with the European Union to use the Euro as their currency and print them on their own but they did not become a member of the Euro zone as their monetary policies were not under the control of the European Central Bank. These states that use the Euro as their currency but do not form part of the Euro zone are called the micro states. But the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Calorimetry Lab Report Summary Summary Questions: 1. What value(s) of ΔHrxn did you determine? Compare to the literature value. The first trial that contained 10 mL of NaOH and 10 mL of CH3COOH produced a ΔHrxn of 13.11 kJ/m. The second trial, which contained 15 mL of NaOH and 5 mL of CH3COOH resulted in a ΔHrxn of 7.864 kJ/m. Based on the literature value of NaOH CH3COOH, 57.5 kJ/m, we were off by 44.39 kJ/m in the first trial, and 49.64 kJ/m in the second trial. 2. How did concentration and/or volume differences affect the heat change (q) for each trial? When the volumes of NaOH and CH3COOH were equal, the temperature increased by 5 degrees celsius. When we performed a second trial and added 15 mL of NaOH and 5 mL of CH3COOH, the temperature only showed an increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were also able to conclude that when you combine equal parts of an acid and base you can expect to see a higher temperature change than you would if you added more parts of a base than a acid. Our reasoning behind this conclusion is that when we added 10 mL of both solutions that temperature increased by 5ºc, but when we added 15 mL of NaOH and only 5 mL of CH3COOH there was only a temperature increase of 3ºc. In correlation, we calculated that when you have equal parts of acid and base, the ΔHrxn will be higher than when you use more parts base than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. An Analysis Of Pieces D Identites, And Aesthetics Of... African cinema has certain aesthetics and politics that differ from cinema within the United States. The politics and aesthetics of African film tends to reference themes of liberation, self identity and allegories referring to colonialism. Three films that were viewed in class this year that display each of these politics are Lumumba, Pieces D Identites, and Afrique, Je Te Plumerai. The first politic and aesthetic African films tend to reference the most is liberation. A good example of a film that shows this politic is the film Lumumba directed by Raoul Peck. This film was released in 2001 and is about the life of the former prime minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Patrice Lumumba. The film examines the liberation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A good example of a film viewed during this semester with this aesthetic is Afrique, Je Te Plumerai. This film was released in 1992 and directed by Jean Marie Teno. This film is about the history of the west African country of Cameroon. This film starts with the first contact the area which would become Cameroon had with European missionaries, to German and French colonialism, and finally to present day and how the colonialism affected the people of Cameroon. This uses allegories for colonialism through showing how the literature taught in schools and most of the books in the libraries are by White authors and that they have very little literature by Black authors taught in schools or displayed in libraries. Also the name of the film Afrique, Je Te Plumerai means Africa, I Pluck You . This is an allegory of how colonialism has plucked all of the Cameroonian history from the people and has replaced it with European history. This aesthetic would never be used in a Hollywood film due to the fact that the United States is a country that goes around attacking and colonizing other countries for their natural resources and to build an empire. Hollywood actually makes films with the complete opposite of this aesthetic where the film its film is about how invading other countries and killing people made U.S. soldiers sad. All in all African films have completely different politics and aesthetics than films made in the U.S. The film Lumumba shows the politics of liberation. The film Pieces D Identities shows the aesthetics of self identity. The film Afrique, Je Te Plumerai shows the aesthetics of allegories of colonialism. In conclusion Hollywood would not dare to touch the politics nor aesthetics of these films due to Hollywood s prejudices and other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Service Line Development Sentinel Event: Sentinel events are a subset of medical adverse events. Events that require immediate attention are called Sentinel Events. Joint Commission defines a sentinel event as an unexpected occurrence involving death or serious physical or psychological injury, or the risk thereof. Serious injury specifically includes loss of limb or function. The phrase or the risk thereof includes any process variation for which a recurrence would carry a significant chance of a serious adverse outcome. Sentinel Event identified by Joint Commission also include infant abduction or discharge to the wrong family. This root cause analysis team is multidisciplinary, the members being members of the relevant departments, but not involved with the event. A facilitator from the legal office arranges meetings, keeps minutes and writes up the final report. The charge of the root cause analysis team is to explore all potential causes of the event, sort and analyze these causes, identify risk reduction strategies, and implement a correction plan with a timeframe for completion and monitoring. The Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is a process for identifying the basic or causal factors that underlie variation in performance. It should focus primarily on systems and processes, not on individual performance. In order to get to the root of the problem, it is important to keep professional skepticism, which requires a questioning mind. The goal is to identify potential improvements in processes or systems that would tend to decrease the likelihood of such events in the future. In carrying out a root cause analysis, it is helpful to re create the event with the staff involved in the event. • 7. Manifest Destiny And Manifest Destiny The currently functioning civilization is solely a result of events in history. Each and every major event in history has a cause and effect. The effect of that event shapes the perception of different contributors of society. In the mid 1930 s the Great Depression was a major event that had a significant outcome that changed the perception of the economy. It made individuals more aware and cautious about their finances. Along with making individuals more cautious it also shaped the United States economically. Less than a century before, a similar occurrence took place in the United States. Manifest Destiny allowed for the repercussion of the Ghost Dance. Manifest Destiny constructed how Native Americans now view Americans while also shaping their culture traditions. The idea of Manifest Destiny and the act of the Indian Removal was used as a guide in the future to change the way the United States dealt peacefully with situations. These events and the outcomes lead to the United States having the American Dream and allowing everyone freedom and opportunity. There is a cause and effect relationship between Manifest Destiny and the Ghost Dance because the Ghost Dance was a response, in the form of a theodicy, that showed the European Americans the destruction they caused by force removing the Native Americans from the West. A culture can spread its ideology through peaceful means or force. In the case of Manifest Destiny, occurring in the mid 19th century, the European ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Southwest Airlines Merger BASIC STRATEGY: In order to make up for increasing expenses Southwest needs to expand. My recommended strategy for Southwest to pursue, is to merge with Air Tran and expand into areas where Air Tran has a heavy presence and Southwest has none. With Southwest having a weak presence in the southeastern U.S., a key area to expand would be Atlanta s Hartsfield Jackson International, which is the busiest airport in the U.S. There is obviously a need for the low air fare company at this site. Southwest s unique approach of no extra charge for luggage and extra friendly service should help Southwest. The merger is estimated to cost Southwest $1.4 billion dollars; Air Trans income for 2010 was around $128 million, and along with the 138 new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the process of the absorption, there will need to be strong communication to the customers to let them know when exactly changes will be taking place. Updates should be kept daily on Southwest s website and up to date information should be presented to all passengers when booking flights. Television commercials should be ran (especially around the Atlanta area) showing newly remodeled planes that once carried AirTran customers and show major improvements appealing to both vacationers and business travelers. Strong communication on how the AirTran frequent flyer miles will implemented by Southwest. This could be an area of major conflicts between Southwest and old loyal AirTran customers, but strong communication could easily prevent many conflicts. Shared Values: The unique culture and values of Southwest Airlines has been one of the key factors of Southwest s success over the years. Southwest s CEO feels that the employees of Southwest are the company s single greatest strength and most enduring long term competitive advantage. Getting AirTran s acquired employees to commit to the shared vision of the company will be another key implementation lever during the acquisition process. Southwest really values a fun and loving atmosphere among employees and passengers. Employees and management go out of their ways to implement these values and AirTran employees will be expected to share these values as well as management strives for total alignment. (Successful ... In this COMBINE demonstrate, some protein deposits were highlighted as especially paramount for inhibitory movement. Despite the fact that X beam structures of COX 2 complexed with a little number of ligands are accessible, exploratory information are absent for two well known selective COX 2 inhibitors (rofecoxib and nimesulide) and docking effects reported are questionable. Llorens et al. (2002) attempted molecular modeling studies to produce atomic models perfect with the experimental information accessible. Likewise, docking of diverse COX inhibitors, including selective and non selective ligands: rofecoxib, ketoprofen, suprofen, carprofen, zomepirac, indomethacin, diclofenac and meclofenamic acid were embraced utilizing the AMBER system. Their effects gave new bits of knowledge into a superior understanding of the differential binding mode of different groups of COX inhibitors, contributed to the design of new selective compounds [4]. Llorens et al. (1999) performed molecular modeling studies on the two cyclooxygenase (COX) isozymes proposing that the cavity at the mouth of the active site on the film area may go about as a real binding site of COX ligands which gave a structural premise to clarify the dynamics of COX inhibition [5]. • 11. The Software Development Life Cycle The Software Development Life Cycle is a model, which consists of multiple steps or phases. This model is used for the development of software or application. The purpose of SDLC is to make software more efficient and effective. The life cycle typically has six phases. It starts with analysis and design phase, then the implementation/ construction phase, testing phase, release or deployment phase and ends with maintenance phase. The analysis phase determines why the need for the software arose, the deliverables or outcome expected from the software or system and also identifies the various requirements for the development. It is very important to involve users, stakeholders and working engineers in this phase, to ensure that the Why criteria is thoroughly fleshed out. A well worked out analysis phase will help developers and architects to successfully work on the given requirements in the design phase. The design phase might also involve building several use cases and building prototypes for users. Design can be logical design, physical design or architectural design. In the construction phase, physical construction is done to complete the software (i.e. programming, hardware, software and so on). The implementation phase turns the design into an actual product. The next phase tests the software for possible vulnerabilities and bugs. This is to ensure that the product is safe from possible security breach. The product is tested in the real world to see if it functions as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to success, so why do we need self discipline? We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals? The general answer is: Lack of self discipline. Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future. Present steps determine future results. The Origin Of The Dominican Republic Essay To understand the way race has been shaped in the Dominican Republic is to take an in depth look at the contextual influences that help to mold its nation. Their history began to take shape when Spanish ships of Columbus arrived in 1492. It was the third landfall met by Columbus which named La Española, but, was known as the island of Hispaniola. Today it is known as the Dominican Republic. Columbus s arrival launched the complicated story of race, colonization and globalization for the people who would inherit the land over the next four hundred years. Within fifty years of Columbus arrival, hundred, if not thousands of indigenous inhabitants had been killed through brutal forced labor, new diseases introduced from European and suicide (Guest). The Spanish began to import African slaves in 1520. This make Hispaniola the first colony anywhere in the region to import slaves to work the sugar plantations. It was for this reason, Torres Saillant formulated the perception that the Dominican Republic is cradle of blackness in the Americas. As is well known in modern times Hispaniola id divided; the France took and governed Haiti the western third of the island, until they were overthrown by slave rebellion in the Haitian Revolution. • 25. Genetic And Non Genetic Mechanisms Of Inheritance Essay Regina Noel 10/19/2016 Epigenetics: Genetic and Non Genetic Mechanisms of Inheritance When discussing the topic of genetics, it is typically viewed from the perspective of Mendelian inheritance in which genes are transmitted from parent to offspring solely through the use of genetic alleles, which are the alternative form of genes that have varying DNA sequences and chromosomes that affect the phenotype, visual gene trait (Toth. 2015). If and how a genetic trait is expressed is whether the alleles for that trait are dominant or recessive. Dominant alleles are genes that have a higher probability of being expressed in the offspring than a recessive allele. In the case of dominate alleles; there are two possible combinations that its gene can still be expressed with, homozygous (which contains two dominant alleles) and heterozygous (which contains a dominant and recessive allele). On the other hand, recessive alleles can only be expressive if it is homozygous (which contains two recessive alleles) (Reece et al. 2013). Since Gregor Mendel s discovery of alleles and genetic inheritance, there has been research shows that there are more mechanisms of inheriting traits which do not include changing the nucleotide sequence of DNA. This form of non genetic inheritance is called epigenetic modification. One example of epigenetic modification is DNA methylation. Humans have many preconceived notions about who and what they are and what their rightful place in society is. These notions, however, are frequently at odds with reality. The uncertainty of what makes someone human is explored in Ridley Scott s classic science fiction film Blade Runner. Dr. Eldon Tyrell s Tyrell Corporation created the replicants to be sub human servants that were clearly distinct from and inferior to human beings; the replicants were intentionally designed to be unable to express emotions, particularly empathy, which is believed to be a trait that only human beings can possess. Deckard does not display human feelings; in fact, he appears to be the epitome of inhumanity. Deckard does not demonstrate any feelings at all, particularly empathy. When examined closely, this is Scott s way of suggesting the possibility that Deckard may, in fact, be a replicant as his actions and character development closely resemble that of a replicant. It is possible that Deckard could be murdering his own people , and he might not even know it. Over time, Deckard eventually begins to demonstrate feelings towards others, especially Rachel. His feelings for Rachel are evident when he asks her, Do you love me...and do you trust me (Scott). After Rachel replies that she does, Deckard demonstrates his love for Rachel by giving her an emotional kiss on the lips. As Deckard falls in love with Rachel, a moral issue emerges. That is, he still continues to hunt someone whom he loves. Morality and ethics have been completely disregarded. As time goes by, though, Deckard appears to become more sophisticated and develops a sense of morality. He chooses not to kill Rachel, and instead runs away with her (Scott). Deckard s actions coincide with the actions of the replicants. When the replicants were first created, they did not display emotions, but over time, the replicants became more complex and began to develop human like qualities. Similarly, Deckard has done the same thing in his lifetime and it leads back to the possibility of him being a replicant. The boundary between humans and the replicants is rapidly becoming unclear. This creates a feeling of uncertainty, which is frightening as it leads to the thought that humans cannot be sure about what makes them human and consequently they cannot be sure if they are in fact human. Hence, the effect of being room less on the character, Yılmaz, in a society he does not belong to sometimes reaches a serious point because of the religious, ethnic, cultural features of the society and the fact that the people living in it are not open to another face of world. Religion is the most important factor that affects Yılmaz s place on society profoundly and makes him feel as an other and, it does cause him to take serious action against local inhabitants of the country. Yilmaz is a Muslim; however, the country he lives in is Christian and there are some crucial differences between them which render Yılmaz unnatural to the society and marginal. Ethnic and cultural differences between Yılmaz and local inhabitants also play a great role in badly construction of Yılmaz s psychological state. The two great dominant pictures of the world, Orient (East) and Occident (West), are always in clash in the story. Yilmaz is an Oriental figure in Occidental area; hence, his oriental possessions are cumbersome burdens on his shoulders in every part of life. One of them that engenders ... Jason states how Medea s irrational thoughts began even before his betrayal, he recalls Medea telling him how she killed Pelia s in the cruelest possible way (l. 494). Medea then states how Jason is the worst of men (l.494) because even though she borne him children (l. 496) he betrayed her to the point where she cannot even return home since she has become/ an enemy to her own family (ll. 516 517). The nurse stood up and described Medea as a terror which reflects that there s no way to be her enemy and come out as a victor (ll. 50 51). Even though Jason explains how he offered help earlier in the play for their children s future, Medea is prideful and refuses to accept anything from Jason (640 641). Jason justifies Creon s decision, to exile Medea, because he believed that Medea was a threat since she spoke against the royal family (l. 463). The audience notices that Medea is quiet and wise when planning her revenge when she states that she will kill in silence, by deceit (l. 400). This foreshadows the idea of how Medea decides to slaughter her own children with a sword (l. 1371) in order to enjoy destroy[ing] Jason leaving him childless (ll.1372, 1373). Jason testifies against Medea and the jury decides to charger her for first degree murder since she killed her children with her own bare hands. Jason explains to the jury that Medea is put in exile because of her own foolish words which were that she spoke against the royal family (ll. 455 460). The Chorus testifies against Medea by repeating one of Medea s statements in the play which was when a woman is faced with injustice in the bedroom, there is no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The American Pets Products Association For years now, the lives and fate of homeless animals has been at stake. From overpopulation in shelters, abused dogs in mills, kill shelters opening up across the country, and private breeders breeding excessively, animals everywhere are loosing their lives because of these issues. There are still more than 70 million homeless pets living in the U.S. Of these 70 million needy animals, only around six to seven million are put into shelters each year, (Henn). Many of these animals without homes, are not even in shelters and are instead dying on the streets because there are too many to rescue in the small amount of time rescuers have. This expanding issue of animals being mistreated needs to come to an end. Many different problems are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Potential dog owners typically have a breed of dog in mind when trying to purchase a new friend. These breeds are usually purebred dogs because new owners do research on different types of dogs to find the best match for their families. What they do not know is that most shelters do carry purebred dogs, in fact 25 percent of dogs in shelters are purebred. As Cabral states, Before getting a dog from a breeder, visit your local shelter and contact breed specific recuse shelters for a specific breed of dog. Meaning, even though private breeder do have purebreds, be sure to check breed specific rescue shelters that are available for ever breed of dog there is. Not only do people associate the factor of purebreds being associated with private breeders, but they believe the myth of dogs from breeders being a superiority as well. Consumers looking for a new family pet are willing to pay exuberant amounts of money for a purebred dog because they are told that the puppy has been raised in a loving environment and will grow up to have a friendly disposition with minimal health problems, (Henn). These customers are under the assumption that because they are being raised by one person in an open place, they automatically are free from behavioral and health issues, when this is not the case at all. This myth has been around since breeders began, and they will not deny this either because it gets them more money and customers. Yet, this could not possibly be true because ... • 34. A Brief Note On William Edward Hartpole Lecky There are times in the lives of most of us, when we would have given all the world to be as we were but yesterday, though that yesterday had passed over us unappreciated and unenjoyed. William Edward Hartpole Lecky THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS When my dad passed away last July, it was tough. It was halfway through the summer, I had just graduated from high school, and I was preparing to embark on the exciting and nerve wracking journey that is college. All the while, I was living life in my own little world, detached and disconnected from those closest to me. Most of my days consisted of working one job or another (at the time I was juggling three, for no justifiable reason), and my days off consisted of sleeping in, spending lazy afternoons by the pool, evenings by the fire with friends, and late nights of Netflix. But I got lost in that little world. I forgot to be present, mindful, and most of all appreciative. So when my dad, who was neither sick nor ill, didn t wake up from his sleep one morning, Reality didn t just bring me back down to earth. It hit me. Hard. In the first few nights after my dad passed away, I couldn t sleep. During the day, I couldn t eat. In the mornings, I would step into the shower, curl into a ball, and hope that the sound of the water running would muffle my wailing and sobbing. In the face of it all, I had the misconception that it was my responsibility and duty to never shed a tear around others, to always maintain an optimistic tone, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Don Marquis s Lesson Of The Moth The suicide of the moth, the immolation on a cigar lighter, is a literal presentation of his ideas for life. In the poem Lesson of the Moth by Don Marquis, two conflicting opinions about life face each other. There is a cockroach named archy that thinks you should live your life as long as you can, and an unnamed moth that wants to live life to the fullest, even if it means dying early. The lesson in this poem is that there are several conflicting ideas to everything. Throughout the story, archy and the moth show their conflicting views on life. One excerpt where archy shows his views is i do not agree with him myself i would rather have half the happiness and twice the longevity . What archy is saying is that he would like to live a long life, even if he is not as happy as someone who lives a short live but is very happy during their life. The moth thinks of it differently. He says plenty of [sense] he answered but at times we get tired of using it and crave beauty and excitement fire is beautiful and we know that if we get too close it will kill us but what does that matter it is better to be happy for a moment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One area where the author uses this literary technique is he went and immolated himself on a patent cigar lighter i do not agree with him myself i would rather have half the happiness and twice the longevity . This is juxtaposition because Marquis shows the drastic difference in the way archy and the moth think. Right after showing the moth following his beliefs and setting himself ablaze, he puts archy talking about how he disagrees with his beliefs that he just killed himself for. These different views are very apparent placed so close to each other. The reason that he juxtaposed these two views was to show how different they are and how extreme the moth s views were compared to archy s, and also to show that there were at least 2 extremely differing opinions about ...
