To Kill A Mockingbird Character Analysis
Atticus when they finally saw him...He was real nice
Most people are, Scout, when you finally see them. (a life in Maycomb) To Kill a Mockingbird is a
story about shells distinctions of a person based on character, actions, circumstances, or race that
society uses to define him. A few characters in this novel, though, can see through these shells, into
the person beneath. Unfortunately, the rest of the world is quite different... Harper Lee wrote To Kill a
Mockingbird in the 1950s, a time of excessive prejudice and contempt in her home state of Alabama.
Through carving out her own childhood and the world around her, Lee wrote a novel widely known as
the 20th century s greatest work of literature.

Scout, and Jem, her brother, see through shells of many people. After a trial, Atticus tells Jem, If you
had been on that jury, son, and eleven other boys like you, Tom would be a free man. We do see the
outcome that happens when shells are ignored. At night, a group of rough woodmen approach Atticus,
ready to exert force on his defendant. Scout suddenly interjects the group, and begins talking with a
big gruff man, Mr. Cunningham of his work, and his son, Walter. The gruffness of the group is
immediately broken; all the men are shocked. Scout recalls, The men were all looking at me, some had
their mouths half open...Their attention amounted to fascination. A few moments later, Mr.
Cunningham bends down and says to Scout, I ll tell [Walter] you said hey, little lady. The group is
then dispersed, a brute, cold natured bunch shown to be calm, rational men. Later on, we learn that
this incident positively effects Tom Robinson s case. But this natural perspective evident in children
doesn t last. [JEM SHELL] Directly after praising Jem, Atticus tells him, So far, nothing in life has
interfered with your reasoning process...There s something in our world that makes men lose their
heads. So, what is this thing that pushes men to turn into judgmental beings? We learn that it is a
conflict between our natural idea of what men should do and their actual actions. Jem asks Scout If
there s just one kind of folks, why can t they

A Reflection On Multicultural Learning Experience
Multicultural Learning Experience All people are unique and come from diverse backgrounds.
Throughout, this paper I will be examining some of my key identities as well as how these have
impacted how I view the world and how this defines who I am today. I will do this by using the
RESPECTFUL model which identifies the factors which define a person; consequently, all the ideas
brought up will not only be mine but based on a more concrete understanding of humanity (Ivey, Ivey,
Zalaquett, 2014, pp. 18 19). Moreover, the purpose of this examination is to expand my understanding
of myself while also identifying some biases or challenges I may face due to my background or
upbringing. Above all, my desire is this examination will allow me to ... Show more content on

The only way I can change in a way that benefits my calling is if I know what areas in myself need to
be changed. Therefore, this examination will be conducted by comparing myself to the key social
work values and how I have or need to learn from them. Identity Religion and Spirituality The first
letter in the RESPECTFUL model is R and it represents religion and spirituality (Ivey et al., 2014, p.
26). Although I do not consider myself religious, my faith and beliefs can be attributed to Christianity,
a common religion throughout much of the world. These beliefs have had a profound impact on how I
grew up and have shaped the person I am today as well as the person I am becoming. Consequently,
my personal values and ideas are shaped by the teachings of Christianity. This is where I garnished my
desire to help others and be a proponent for social wellbeing of all. Moreover, in the teachings I hold
dear to my heart, I observe the value placed on each individual person and believe they are loved by
the creator who desires the betterment of all, especially those who are marginalized or facing social
injustice. It is also imperative for his followers to work towards this end. Nonetheless, there have been
controversies throughout my life corresponding to my personal faith and my desire to help others and
how I believe these two ideas relate to each other. Notably, when I was younger, I

Religious Significance The Pantheon And The Dome Of The Rock
Kathryn Shim

Professor Moser
TA Ginny Reynolds, Wednesday 5pm
The Religious Significance the Pantheon and the Dome of the Rock Convey
Architecture comes with many significant meanings, including religious significance. The Pantheon,
built from 118 to 125 CE in Rome, Italy, was a temple made to worship the Roman gods and
goddesses. This temple is one of the most important buildings both in history and architecture,
influencing many other monuments with its form, such as The Dome of the Rock. The Dome of the
Rock, built from 687 to 692 CE, was the first great Islamic building. Located in Jerusalem, it is a
shrine still very significant to many religions, such as Judaism and Christianity, today. Though not
resembling each other in appearance, these buildings are extremely similar, in terms of religious
meaning. The Pantheon and the Dome of the Rock, through their own distinctive form and similar
location backgrounds, illuminate religion as the most important factor in each society, as these
monuments symbolize a sense of unification throughout the city. The Dome of the Rock and the
Pantheon are constructed similarly. The Dome of the Rock was even influenced by the Pantheon, built
on a domed central plan structure. While the two buildings look different in appearance, they have
similar forms. They both contain geometric structures. In the front, the Pantheon has a porch, with a
triangular top. Behind this porch is a cylinder base with a hemispherical dome

Themes in Austin Clarke s short story Canadian Experience...
Oh, Canada, glorious and free! these words from Canada s national anthem draw many immigrants to
the true North strong and free. Austin Clarke s short story Canadian Experience, portrays the struggles
of a Barbadian man who has moved to Toronto, Ontario Canada against the wishes of his father to find
his fortune. Clarke does not name the principal character until closer to the end of the story. He has
had to change who he is to make a meaningful life in Canada. George struggles with the fact that he is
ready for bigger things but is finding it difficult to reach his goal. When ones race and morals are
different, moving to a new country can be the most difficult transition of life.

And now his house does not have a name and he barely has one himself.
Since George has moved to Toronto, he has gone through so many changes against his own will, and it
has made him depressed and bitter. He is applying for a position at a bank and he was always
uncomfortable and impatient whenever he had to go into one. George has been forced to change his
morals and even his personal taste just to get ahead in Canada. He doesn t believe that men and
women should cohabit if they are not married and is not a believer in the North American practice of
having boys going to school with girls. He listens to a rock and roll station even though he hates it just
so he can find out what time it is. He plans to lie about his educational background at his job interview
to impress them; where as his education in Barbados is above average. His entire lifestyle has changed
and his fear of failure drove him over the edge.
George does feel at times he is better and can accomplish more. While thinking about his job
interview and the fact that it is only a junior position, he feels his necessity would make him bitter, but
thankful. When he decides he needs to lie about his education at the interview he laughs at own
cleverness of nuance and logic, and thinks that no one is Toronto would know the difference. George

Eurocentric Beauty Standards Of African American Women
Eurocentric beauty standards focus on European features as the basis of beauty. Features such as pale
skin, straight hair and light eyes are commonly accepted rather than kinky hair, dark eyes, and dark
skin. In the past, these standards have been linked to colorism, discrimination and even self hatred.
The standards have been imposed on the women of the world, but they have affected African
American women for centuries. Although some black women are now more accepting of who they
are, experts agree that they are still affected by the standards. There are some disagreements on
whether black women are as vulnerable to the effects of the standards in today s time. Black women
are subjected to mainstream beauty standards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These programs are geared towards the self knowledge and self development of black girls (Bryant
88). This means there is a place where black girls can learn about themselves without the fear of being

perception . . . young [black] women face and promote positive life outcomes (Bryant 88). Bryant also
argues that Empowering dark skinned black women with these programs and interventions can help
reinforce the notion that all black skin tones should be part of the established beauty standard (88).
Eurocentric beauty standards have both negative and positive effects. Negatively, they have set an
unrealistic standard for women to attempt to meet. They have also set in certain ways of thinking that
can be toxic to the mind of young children and adult black women. Positively, beauty standards have
made black women helped make black women less susceptible to any notion that they are not good

My Day At High School
The idea came upon me late on a Sunday night in early February. An idea that me and my buddies
from high school need one last get together before the end of the semester. Yes, the end of the
semester is not for another 2 months, but many of my friends go to a variety of different colleges
which means many different weeks of spring break. I realized that this would be our last chance
together so let s go home this weekend and get together. We ran with the idea. We all found ways back
home and our plan was to get together that Friday night. I looked forward to that Friday night all
week, but when that Friday night came it was all ruined by a guy that would do anything to never be
unfair to someone on purpose. On February 7th around 8 o clock or so me and my roommates were
eating dinner discussing spring break. We talked about when our spring break was and how it was
going to be way different since many of our buddies go to different colleges and have separate spring
break dates. As we talked dates I realized that our spring break was a week before all my other
buddies spring breaks were. This is the reason upon deciding to have a get together later that week. I
immediately sent out a text to one of my good buddies Jackson. Jackson has a garage that is fully
renovated therefore it is our primary hang out spot. We talked about if it was a good idea and if we
could stay in the garage that Friday night. All went well that entire week. Me and my five other
buddies all found

`` Privilege, Power, And Difference, By Johnson And Robbins
Since the time we are born we are fed the lies of capitalism. We are taught that capitalism hurts no one
and that capitalism is the only way. Johnson and Robbins have some very influential ideas about
capitalism. Johnson writes about the complexity of privilege. He also addresses why some privileged
people do not feel privileged through the matrix of capitalist domination. Robbins gives us a
background on how privilege became what it is today. He addresses the anatomy of the working class
by drawing attention to how they were mobile, divided, powerless, and anxious for a revolution.
Through Johnson and Robbins eyes we can begin to see how the world is not the one we were taught
it was. In Johnson s book, Privilege, Power, and Difference, he writes about the matrix of capitalist
domination, but to really understand the reader must look back to the previous chapter when he writes
about privilege. Johnson asked the reader to list qualities such as gender, race, sexual orientation, and
class. After doing so, Johnson explained that such qualities have one side that receives privilege in
society. These privileges range from having a better schooling to getting a job over someone who does
not have the privileged qualities. The ideal qualities of the ones listed according to society is upper
class, heterosexual, white, and male. This is not to say that all white men feel privileged. In fact, that
is the entire idea of the matrix of capitalist domination. People do not fall

Teaching Is A Important Part Of The Nursing Process
Although teaching may be done first, last, or in the middle of patient care, teaching is a very important
part of the nursing process. Teaching is important for the patient and family to understand the
importance of their care, and it allows them to make an informed decision on the care they receive. To
appropriately teach a patient we must look at the patient s background, make a nursing diagnosis,
develop behavioral objectives, outline the teaching plan, and evaluate the teaching s effectiveness.
Patient Information
In the context of women who are planning to become pregnant ought to receive teaching with their
significant other about what they should do before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and after pregnancy.

The learning during lecture will be passive, but the discussion will allow for interaction of patient and
nurse in which the patient can ask questions (Beagley, 2011, p. 336). Instantly a nursing diagnosis was
being formed.
Nursing Diagnosis
This family s nursing diagnosis was: Deficient knowledge related to lack of exposure and
unfamiliarity with information resources as evidence by an inaccurate statement of knowledge
(Ackley and Ladwig, 2014, p 504).
Behavioral Objectives
The behavioral objectives were: The mother will explain the disease process. The mother will describe
the rationale for treatment options. The mother will incorporate knowledge of health regimen into a
decision on having the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccine (Ackley et al. 2014).
Outline of teaching content
Mothers need to know it is important to protect their unborn babies from unnecessary hardships.
Women who become infected with measles, mumps, or rubella (MMR) while pregnant can cause birth
defects on the developing baby. Women who plan to become pregnant should become vaccinated from
rubella in order to prevent diseases in there developing baby, such as congenital cataracts (Sharma,
Sharan, Billson, 2006, 84). If a mother is not immune to these viruses during pregnancy, it is
recommended that she receive a vaccine after delivery of her first baby if she is thinking about having
another child. Often the family can become concerned about effecting a

A History of Submissive Women in Literature
The feminine gender has long been one that has been repressed throughout history and forced to
acclimate itself to a world dominated by men. Although major improvements have been made in the
strife for equality, this continues to be a man s world. In the short stories The Chrysanthemums and A
Rose for Emily, as well as in the drama A Doll s House, the protagonists are all frustrated women who
are unfulfilled with their subservient lives. Partly imposed upon them by their setting s historical and
societal norms, they choose to either do something about it or continue to internalize their
dissatisfaction. When analyzing these pieces of literature, it becomes quite obvious which of the
protagonists fall under the category of those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Elizabeth Hardwick, Nora is intrinsically independent and free spirited from the very
beginning of the play (294). Unni Langås also wrote an essay on Ibsen s drama and about Nora s
specific motives. He wrote, When she performs acts that are generally reserved for men, or withdraws
from practices associated with women, she shows the gender attribution of these acts to be social
constructions and thereby contests their reified status (157). So, Langås claims that Nora s rebellion
and discontent began long before she literally walked out on Trovald, her husband. The events that
eventually unfolded at the end of the play and that lead her to finally leave her husband were just those
last straws that broke the camel s back. Before her final stage exit, Ibsen has Nora say, For eight years
I have been patiently waiting, enforcing this idea of long lived frustration (3.1107). Again, this idea of
the rebellious woman at the end of the nineteenth century was not only reserved to post Civil War
America as was the case with Emily Grierson. Nora Helmer and her insurgence, against all ethical and
moral norms of society at the time, did not go unnoticed in Northern Europe. According to Marilyn

Descriptive Essay On The Day In Nursing
It was an unpleasantly early morning in the hospital waiting room. Nurses buzzed around, busy
attending to their patients while a faint beeping sound could be heard in the background. I was starting
my second shift of the day at the hospital, just finishing working a shift in the dark, grimy morgue.
Groggy, I sat down at my desk to begin another four hours of labor. My position was to assure that the
paper work was properly completed and that all patients were attended too. While being a supervising
nurse was a great responsibility, it left time to day dream. In the corner of the room, an old lady was
slouched on a cracked, olive upholstered chair. A man gripped her veiny hand and softly patted her
back. She appeared to suffer from a vigorous cough, which originated deep in her chest. Delicate curls
framed her fragile face as hair was neatly swept to one side. A double string of ivory pearls swooped
around her neck, landing in the lull of her collarbone. Vintage black eyeglasses were diligently
balancing on the bridge of her crinkly nose. The wrinkles that adorned her face were indicative of
many years lived and with each cough, they furrowed. She wore a knitted rose cardigan over what
appeared to be a light blue night gown. It was evident that she had been rushed to the hospital as she
was still wearing her fucia puffy slippers. Every few seconds her diaphragm clenched, causing her
stomach to thrust out and created a high pitched wheeze. The cool exterior air rushed in

A feral child or a wild child is defined as a human child who has been isolated from human interaction
from an early age, where they have a slight or no experience of human care, contact, or no

cases, including their own parents or guardians. This form of neglection was due to the parent s denial
of care and affection towards the child. Feral children normally exhibit some form of common

A Brief Note On Crime And Public Health
Crime and public health
Globally, about 5.8 million people die from injuries each year (1). Victims of crime may suffer
physical injuries from assaults, violence and dangerous driving. Other types of crimes, like burglary
and robbery, although they do not have direct physical impacts, cause stress, anxiety and poor mental
health to the victims. A recent longitudinal study also found that fear of crime was associated with
poorer mental health, reduced physical activities, and lead to a lower quality of life (2).
Crime and fear of crime are associated with the physical environment, social environment, individual
factors (for example, minority, women, and young or older people), time of day, and surveillance (3).

Street light and energy efficiency
Globally, the use of public lighting contributes to about 2.3% of the consumption of electricity (7).
Better management of public lighting energy usage would contribute to lower electricity usage and
lower emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2). A pilot project at Croatian city of Rijeka (8) has shown that
the improvement of public lighting which includes change of lamps and power regulation can reduce
energy usage, CO2 emissions and city expenditure. At the same time, it also helped to reduce light
pollution.
Changes of street lighting regime
As most of the street lights installed in the past are less energy efficient, there is room for
improvement on reducing energy wastage by examining how the street lights are provided. This could
have triggered the changes of provision of night time street lighting in the UK. In the past 5 years,
there have been multiple reports (9 14) about the Highway Agency and local councils switching off
streets light during night time, who have cited as the main reasons to cut carbon emissions, to meet
environmental targets, and to cut costs.
The three main approaches adopted by local authorities to reduce

A Short Note On Lymphoma And Lymphom Lymphoma
Hodgkin?s Lymphoma Hodgkin?s Lymphoma (HL), also called Hodgkin?s Disease is a rare type of
lymphoma that develops when the body?s immune system produces abnormal B lymphocytes. HL was
discovered in 1832 by Dr. Thomas Hodgkin?s. HL is most commonly diagnosed by the presence of a
mutated B cell called a Reed Sternberg cell and targets the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is
comprised of many different things, tissues, nodes, vessels, capillaries, and organs. Its main function is
to help the immune system fight infection by carrying white blood cells throughout the body in its
lymph fluid. Although HL can affect various parts of the body, lymph nodes are the part mainly
affected. The disease usually moves predictably through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Other factors shown to be associated with HL include age, gender, and genetics. Young adults and
patients older than 55 years of age have greater incidence of HL. Men are more likely to get HL than
women. Also, siblings of a person with the disease are at more risk and if the siblings are twins the
risk increases (Ansell, 2016). Hodgkin?s Lymphoma?s most distinctive presenting sign is painless
lymphadenopathy. These swollen nodes are commonly in the cervical or supraclavicular area, but may
present as a mediastinal mass. Mediastinal masses can be painless and asymptomatic, but also can
block the superior vena cava and cause respiratory symptoms such as cough and dyspnea.
Asymptomatic masses may be found inadvertently during an unrelated diagnostic test, such as a chest
x ray. Patients may also have systemic symptoms such as fatigue, pruritus, or pain after consuming
alcohol. These symptoms may be present but are less concerning than other flu like symptoms
commonly referred to as ?B symptoms?. These include: fever, extreme night sweats, and rapid
unexplained weight loss. These symptoms are very important in predicting the outcome and treatment
of HL (Townsend Linch, 2012). For diagnosis, the physician begins with thorough health history and a
complete physical exam. Blood tests for diagnosis may include: Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH),
complete blood count (CBC), and alkaline phosphatase

Chemistry Cake Testing Lab Report
Chemistry Baking Project Factorial Experiment 9/25/17
Nick Arana, Joey Hensel Arana, Hensel Chemistry G
Objective:
The purpose of this experiment is to further comprehend the chemistry of baking a cake through
research and experimentation.
Background:
It may be surprising; however, the process of baking a cake involves a sufficient amount of chemistry.
A physical property is a property that can be observed or measured without changing the composition
of matter. For example, the color of the cake does not affect the volume, texture, or flavor of the cake;
it only affects the appearance of it. Color is a physical property of the cake. On the other hand, a
chemical property is a property or behavior of a substance when it undergoes a chemical change or
reaction. For example, a chemical property of the cake would be that the cake can burn, spoil, or be
digested. Everything added to the cake batter affects the texture of it. For example, without the flour,
the cake batter would be close to a liquid, but by adding the flour it gives the cake more volume and it
changes the texture. A chemical reaction/change is any change that results in the formation of new
chemical substances. When the cake batter bakes and turns into cake, this is a chemical change. In a
physical reaction/change, the molecules rearrange, but it does not affect their internal structures (no
new substance is formed). When eggs are whipped, it is a physical change or

Carnival could make significant cost savings by better integrating operations across all of its brands
and foster the sharing of ideas among the portfolio companies. Moreover, CCL currently has three
reservation systems and seven yield management systems. To increase efficiencies and better share
information across brands, Carnival could use fewer systems. Another opportunity for the group
would be to unite the headquarters. Carnival claims that having a different headquarter for each brand
is a way of maintaining the uniqueness of the brands. However, combining them would allow Carnival
to significantly decrease overhead costs and improve the bottom line. The company announced in
2011 that it intended to combine the headquarters of Seabourn and Holland America Line but since
then, it did not announced any other corporate restructuring.

Security Guards are Overworked and Underpaid.
Security Guards are Overworked and Underpaid. Security guards are essential in almost every
business; but in government facilities they provide a crucial service. Their presence not only deters
crime coming from outside a facility, it also prevents criminal activity from happening within
establishments. They are the first responders to incidents that require law enforcement assistance
within a facility. Whether a situation is simple or dangerous, they respond and are responsible for the
safety of the people and property that they are protecting. Security guards should be highly rewarded

It can be assessed that security guards indirectly affect the economy, because their protection allows
people to work and spend money, which helps to restore the economy. Having security guards in any
facility makes people feel safe and protected; and such a responsibility of public trust should entitle
them to a higher salary. Moreover, they deserve more pay because protecting people is a difficult task,
and a high percentage of people do not cooperate with authority. Some people object to having
security guards in facilities and around them; which makes the job of a security officer more complex.
The challenge of having to protect a facility is a tough job, but protecting a facility on a 24 hour basis
and protecting hundreds or thousands of people at the same time is a job that definitely should entitle
more pay. When performing their duties, pay is the last thing on the minds of security guards. The
protection of both the people and property, remain their priorities and they remain vigilant in doing so.
People should consider the purpose of security guards, and acknowledge them accordingly.
Considering the responsibities, risks, and long hours associated with their job, it can be conclude that
security guards are over worked. According to the Work Time Directive the average security officer is
required to work a minimum of 8 hours a day, and is required to stay 4 hours after his

The Rainbow Room has reopened yesterday, after having been closed for five years due to a landlord
tenant dispute. The legendary venue has been lovingly restored, and will once again sparkle above the
New York City skyline. The space, which is located on the 65th floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, was
granted landmark status by the city two years ago. Icons who have made appearances at the Rainbow
over the years include Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, Louis Armstrong, Al Pacino, Barbra

How To Write An Essay On The Hobbit
The Hobbit by John Ronald Reul Tolkien
When J.R.R tolkien set his himself down to write the hobbit. He was attempting to create a fantasy
that addressed the fundamental needs as he saw them of humanity. He wrote about these needs and his
purpose in an essay called J.R.R. Tolkien, On Fairy Stories However before I attempt to indulge into
Tolkien s work and the underlying factors that influenced him. We must understand that within in his
essay addressing fairy tales Tolkien defines fairy stories as A tale about fairies, or generally a fairy
legend; with developed senses, I will not go into depth on this definition as i feel it is not very
important in the grand scheme of things, however i do feel it is important to understand what i will ...

The world of fairy takes just as much time and effort to get over the loss of a loved one as our world.
The world of fairy takes the the form more of an allegory than a cure. Tolkien turned his grief into a
magical world full of monsters and obstacles to overcome to distract himself from the real challenges
he faced. He wasn t aware he was doing this and i think he held that ignorance to his grave. For a
better look at it we must look through the perspective of Sigmund Freud and his philosophical
concepts. I m going to go into depth on two of his concepts as they are very fitting with Tolkien s
work and background. However there is the possibility that more than these two possibly even all of
Freud s concepts can be applied to Tolkien. The first concept being that of The unconscious mind , in
which Freud believes our mind has three parts. The first level is consciousness which consists of
thoughts that are the currently occupying our mind. This is a very basic concept it s essentially saying
what you are currently thinking or in this case reading is your conscious mind at work. The second
level is the preconscious level, another simple concept as it is simply your memory. What you did this

The Ontological Argument By Anselm
I will begin my paper by discussing the two major versions of the ontological argument by Anselm
presented in the proslogion. The first being Possible and actual existence , and the second being
Contingent or Necessary . One should start off with the first summarized in the standard form as
follows: #1 It is a conceptual truth that God is a being than which none greater can be imagined. #2
God exists as an idea in the mind. #3 A being that exists as an idea in the mind and in reality is, other
things being equal, greater than a being that exists only as an idea in the mind. #4 Thus, if God exists
only as an idea in the mind, then we can imagine something that is greater than God. #5 But we cannot
imagine something that is greater than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[Ia] Unfortunately to properly render a complete discussion of the ontological argument One must
begin by defining a few keywords. Definitions for P2 are as follows. first, conceptual truth: something
that can be understood or perceived by the use of reason or imagination. Second, a being: one s basic
nature, or the qualities thereof; essence or personality[3]. Third, greater: of ability, quality, or
eminence considerably above the normal or average [4]. Forth, imagined: form a mental image or
concept of [4]. Fifth, Idea: a thought or suggestion as to a possible course of action [4]. Sixth, mind:
the element of a person that enables them to be aware of the world and their experiences, to think, and
to feel; the faculty of consciousness and thought [4]. Definitions for P3 are as follows. Seventh, actual:
existing in fact; typically as contrasted with what was intended, expected, or believed [4]. Eighth,
existence: the fact or state of living or having objective reality. Ninth, contingent: occurring or existing
only if certain other circumstances are the case; dependent on [4]. Tenth, necessary: present; needed;
essential [4]. Due to the nature of definitions, I will not give an argument for the lack of implied
meanings.
[IIa] For P2 axioms #1 and #3 appears that using a loose form of relativism the argument holds.
For axiom #2 its entirety is an assumption that is to be disproved. Axioms #4 6 are logical deductions
from Axioms #1 through #3. For P3

The Niger Delta Region
The Niger Delta Region of Nigeria produces a significant portion of the combined oil wealth of
Nigeria. Since 1956 when oil was first struck in Oloibiri in Southern Nigeria, the Niger Delta region
has accounted for over 90 per cent of Nigeria s oil income; however, the region has continually
suffered from environmental neglect, disintegrating infrastructures, high rate of unemployment, social
deprivation, abject poverty and widespread conflict. There have been incessant calls for the multi
national corporations( MNCs ) operating in the area to demonstrate the value of their investments to
Nigeria by undertaking increased corporate social responsibility( CSR ) initiatives that provide for
environmental friendly practices as well as direct social benefits such as local employment, new
infrastructure, schools and improved health care delivery. In addition, the Nigerian regulatory
measures enforcing the adoption of codes and conduct of CSR policies by these companies, their
reporting practices and interaction with leading CSR institutions have either been non existent or
inadequately formulated and have therefore failed the entire population. The existing legal frame work
needs to be reformulated into one which is fit for purpose. The is a dire need for an effective,
independent management and enforcement of the host state s regulatory exercise to alleviate the
current perilous state of the region in particular and the country in general.

If You Come Softly, By Jacqueline Woodson
Throughout their lifetimes, individuals encounter a variety of challenges that test their resilience.
Sometimes it targets a person s personality, beliefs, race or culture. It can follow an individual
throughout their life or stay in it for a period of time. However, with a strong personality and a
determined goal, these obstacles can be conquered. An example of an obstacle that can be a battle in
everyday life is prejudice, mostly against the different types of race. Racism is the false conviction
that one race is more unrivaled than the other which isolated the world to what it is today. It is a part
of human nature, and unfortunately, many people don t know their limits when it comes to it. Some
other individuals, however, have internal conflicts with themselves which, in some situations, limits

For John, the preparedness of the church is synonymous with the righteous activity of her saints. In
addition to the church s call to active participation as the partner of Christ in righteous action in the
world, the text takes a subtle yet critical turn toward a Eucharistic theology, as John references the
invitation to the marriage supper of the Lamb a point that will be discussed in greater detail at a later
juncture. While the word church is not directly mentioned in the pericope, it must be noted that other
biblical texts such as 2 Corinthians 11:2 3 and Ephesians 5: 25 27 lend support to the notion of the
church as Christ s bride. As the narrative develops John takes great care to remind his reader that the
revelation that he receives comes as a result of an angelic encounter. Toward the end of the pericope,
the angel with whom John speaks, seems to confirm that what John experiences has come from God
as evidenced by the statement These are true words of God. Revelation 19:9. This affirmation is
significant primarily because John writes while in exile on the island of Patmos. The vision that John
receives and records suggests that he has not been exiled from the presence of God and God s
prophetic use. What

If the business no longer has copies of these documents on file for you, then phone the IRS and ask for

The Education Medium For The Course
As part of the teaching team instructing a first year course in American History, there is a lot to cover
in a semester. My part of the module consists of educating the students about slavery in nineteenth
century America. Solomon Northup s memoir, 12 Years A Slave will be part of the curriculum, since it
is an authentic piece of history in American slavery. However, as the instructor, I need to decide what
educational medium to use. I have the choice of the book/memoir itself or the academy award winning
film. Both mediums have their advantages and disadvantages as a teaching aid.
After some consideration, I will be using the film as the education medium for the course. While the
book is a fountain of information, I believe the film will be more beneficial for a first year history
course. This film will truly engage the students and give them a better understanding of the
unfortunate events of historical slavery. Though, the film is not the primary evidence of slavery, it
does portray authenticity. As long as the film does not forfeit its historical accuracies for entertainment
value, then it should be used as an educational tool. However, loss of accurate historical information is
not an issue since this Hollywood film manages to accurately depict history.
For starters, the actors and actresses that were cast were true to their detailed descriptions in the book.
The students can visualize the characters and their personalities in the film. It could drive the students

Mao Zedong Legacy
Mao Zedong s rise to power within the Chinese Communist party was built on the basis of creating a
social revolution that would transform the country of China. While Mao Zedong held unrivaled power
within the party, the outcome of his legacy had negative implications that were detrimental to Chinese
society in many ways. Mao s convention of a cult of personality was used as a valuable tool to cover
the atrocities some of his policies brought to the population of China. As a part of the Chinese
communist party, Zedong s use of radical collectivism, ignorance to the famine and anti rightness
political campaigns, lead to negative outcomes that disadvantaged society for many years to come.
As a part of his campaign, Mao Zedong declared that he would catch up and surpass the most
powerful capitalist countries during a speech at the CCP National congress on March 21,1955. To do
this, he aimed to accomplish the complete construction of a society heavy based on the ideologies of
socialism by 1960. Then after socialism was accomplished, the CCP would gradually transition to
communism from 1960 1963(Shen Xia, 2011). To achieve this, the many factors of society needed to
be merged into one. These factors include land ownership, commerce and trade, industries,
agriculture, and education which all needed to be combined into large communes. The notion of
splitting land ownership was a significant move towards a more socialist society. Land reform took

Project managers are likely to have differing objectives throughout the project but one underlying
objective throughout it is to bring the project in the specific budget that has been set by the client and
this is one of the main objectives that a project manager is judged on, and therefore being able to keep
a tight financial reign on every project is essential. During the design phase of the construction
project, the project costs are continuously approximated and reviewed following each design change
to ensure that they will not exceed the owner s budget. A new project cannot be intelligently priced
until some major management determinations have been made concerning the conduct of the work.
Project cost estimating is typically executed by the quantity surveyor, but with projects such as the
service Kelmat Services provide, where they provide specialist project managers for unique
constructions such as St Germans Flood Alleviation Pump Station (Atkins), the project manager was

Cost planning for a project obviously requires an extensive knowledge of the construction in hand,
and this is where not having a member of the design team as a project manager becomes a
disadvantage, because a member of the design team would be able to make swift, concise decisions
whilst a specialist project manager would be

Symbolism in Tim Burton´s Films Essay
In the words of Tim Burton, One person s craziness is another person s reality. This is the truth for the
magical movies he has put together. Burton grew up different from others; he was an outcast from the
people around him. Enjoying B movies, he would watch them a great deal. Out of all the characters,
Burton preferred the monsters or strange creatures. Some inspirations to him are Edgar Allen Poe,
Roald Dahl, and Vincent Price. He frowns upon conformity, for he prefers individuality. What is
normal to Burton could be completely wild to another. In Tim Burton s distinctive films, he uses
symbolism and the comparison of individuality and conformity to emphasize the purity of an outsider.
To start, symbolism was used in Edward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A key part of the symbolism in the movie is changing colors. For instance, Ilosovic Stayne, the red
queen s partner, has an eye patch that goes back and forth from black and red. This shows how he was
deceiving character that faked liking the red queen for his own benefit. Additionally, the mad hatter s
eye color changes with his mood. When he is calm, they are green, but when he gets angry, they turn
red. To conclude, Tim Burton uses symbolism to give a deeper lesson and to clear up the state of a
character. Moreover, Burton uses satire to emphasize Edward s innocence; all characters represented a
different flaw in society. For example, all of the housewives were nosy. One of them was particularly
religious and judgmental. Burton portrays Joyce as a flirtatious liar. Kim s boyfriend, on the other
hand, was controlling and impulsive. In contrast, Edward had none of these faults. The town that they
live in is made out to look perfect and neat, while Edward s home is scary and intimidating. In reality,
the castle is more of a humane place than the town. The real monsters are the regular people. To sum
up, Burton gives a negative connotation towards society, verse praise towards uniqueness using satire.
Similarly, Alice in Wonderland also uses satire throughout the movie. First and foremost, everyone
who lives in the red queens castle, that s not an animal, faked having large features. Some had big

Male dependence and dominance in A Streetcar Named Desire
For many generations American men have dominated both marital relationships and society in
general. This domination has resulted in a dependence on men for economic stability and an illusory
happiness believed by women. This falsified necessity for a male counterpart has resulted in the
destruction of female independence and sexual oppression. Through close analysis of the behaviors
and beliefs of the female protagonist in the play, A streetcar named desire by Tennessee Williams, it is
evident that Blanche and Stella live in a patriarchal society in which they overly depend on men for

Through close research of this play, many quotes from both primary and secondary sources prove her
dependence. We can assume that Blanche s entire perspective is that men are her only source of
happiness and success. First, Blanche is very conscious of her appearance; hiding herself under dim
lights and make up, afraid of being judged by men around her. Whoever you are I have always
depended on the kindness of strangers (Williams 142), Blanche s need for kindness of strangers refers
to her miscellaneous encounters with men in the past to make her feel worthy. She means what she
says when she urges them not to notice her (toles). Toles refers to scene 3, where it is evident that
Blanche seeks approval from men around her even though they payed no mind to her. Another
demonstration of her need for admiration to gain self confidence is this excerpt You haven t said a
word about my appearance (Williams 21), where she urged Stanley to notice her to fulfill her desire to

that they were the only thing that can save her despair. In scene four Blanche states Y know how
indifferent I am to money. I think of money in terms of what it does for you but he could do it, he

Is Vaccination Safe Or Safe
Lets look at what a vaccination is first: a vaccine introduces a antigen (a foreign substance that
triggers an immune system response) into the body, and the person produces antibodies and develops
active immunity to a disease without having the clinical disease (Ball, Bindler and Cowen 370).
Research reports of vaccination progress show supporting data of the decline in morbidity from nine
vaccine preventable diseases and their complications. The diseases being: smallpox, diphtheria,
pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis, measles, mumps, rubella and haemophilus type B (cdc.gov).
Vaccinations have proven their benefits over time, they improve the quality of life and allow the
parents to have a piece of mind in this area concerning their child s ... Show more content on

A number of issues arise from non vaccinated children; one very important issue is herd immunity or
what some may call community immunity. This type of immunity protects those people, children and
adults, who can not be vaccinated due to age, poor health conditions or those whom are immune
compromised. These are the individuals that rely on the herd to be vaccinated to prevent contraction of
vaccine preventable diseases. This means the more individuals who are vaccinate the less likely the
disease will spread. Another risk is the protection of future generations. An example of this is the
chicken pox vaccination: if a child is vaccinated against the chicken pox virus when young, the
chances of the child acquiring Shingle s Zoster as an adult is dramatically decreased. Vaccinations
helps protect an unborn child if the mother is vaccinated prior pregnancy; it prevents the disease from
being transferred to the baby while in the womb or during the delivery. Unfortunately due to a
decrease in vaccinated children, there has been an increase in measles and pertussis (whopping cough)
which were once thought to be eradicated. A reason for the increase in measles and whopping cough is
because some parents are choosing to not have their child vaccinated, which allows these diseases to
creep back into our society. A Jan. 2008 outbreak of measles in San Diego, CA resulted

Drunk Driving Is More Precious Than Anything Else
Drunk Driving
Denis Pichardo
Miami Dade College
Drunk Driving
Life is more precious than anything else, and everybody would love to live to the fullest. In life, there
are decisions that people make that can shorten their lives. Though it s argued that life is under God s
control, there is no doubt that there exist self inflicted injuries that shorten life on earth. The decisions
people make therefore have dire consequences on their life. To drink and drive is an example of such
courageous decisions with profound effects in people s life. The ultimate price for drunk driving is an
accident, and the legal consequence is jail. It s illegal to drink and drive even though people still
engage in the act (Carpenter, 2004). This, therefore, calls for more stringent and tougher rules to help
curb the habit. There is the need to review the current laws and regulations to check on the rate of
drunken driving failure to which more lives will be lost at an unexpected time.
There are several reasons as to why drunk driving should not be encouraged. First and foremost, when
one is under the influence of alcohol, their ability to make a sound judgment decreases. One becomes
subconscious, and this limits the capacity to think and act when required. The ultimate consequence is
that the driver is likely to lose control of the vehicle and when that happens, loss of lives, injuries, and
loss of property will be inevitable. The alcohol makes drivers unpredictable with regards to decision

The Creation Of Creation In A West African Tale
In many cultures comma people have made their own stories of creation. These tales come from all
around the globe. Creation stories can come from the Bible, the Cherokee Indians, the West Africans,
and the Egyptians. The Bible says that God created the Earth whereas the Egyptians believe that a
different type of god created the land mass. Cherokee lore states that animals create the Earth. A West
African Tale tells how Otabala sprinkled roots from the Baobab tree and created the terrain of the
desert. These legends and tales tell how early humans explained how everything came to be. In
creation stories, many cultures showed similar themes even though most had no connections to one
another.

Earth was created thousands upon thousands of years ago and according to these religions, by a
powerful being or beings. When these individuals created their worlds, the reasons were all varied.
God, from the Bible, created the Earth out of the loneliness he was in beforehand. In West Africa s
account the Olorun help create Earth with tree roots. These beings created Earth because they wanted
to do something with the water abyss that lay below them. Amun, the Egyptian god of creation, was
said to have created the land, which was known as Ben ben and created other gods. Amun created the
globe out of his obligation to create due to his nature as the creation god. The Cherokee believed that
the Earth was created because of the animals wanting of rest. A water beetle carried the mud that was
at the bottom of the watery void, and stacked it until it became the landmass that all creatures inhabit.
With these creation stories beginnings, they share common thoughts. These ancient Tales have

Essay on Son of the Morning Star
Son of the Morning Star Analysis
Evan S. Connell has a unique writing style. While most stories are told from beginning to end, Son of
the Morning Star: Custer and The Little Bighorn (North Point Press, 1984) begins with the aftermath
of The Battle of the Little Bighorn. It is then followed by numerous events which led up to this battle.
Connell chose this non linear writing style in order to distribute the details he finds most fascinating
and interesting to share with his audience. Using the conclusion of the battle as the introduction of the
narrative creates a suspenseful tone.
In the beginning of the story, the setting is the battle field which The Battle of the Little Bighorn had
taken place a few days earlier. Lieutenant James ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

He also includes a background on Chief Gall as well, providing facts about his birthplace and family.
For example, he writes, He was not a hereditary chief. The family seems to have been undistinguished,
and because his father died at an early age the boy was regarded more with sympathy than respect. So
it appears that not through any legacy did he become a chieftain... (pg. 376)
Throughout the story, the audience develops an idea of the motives of the Native Americans during the
battle. The reader becomes aware of what Sitting Bull was thinking:
If Sitting Bull did indeed call off the attack it was not because of any affection for whites, who, he
hated with abiding and impenetrable rancor, but because he understood how vindictive they could be.
If all the soldiers were slaughtered the whites would insist upon another battle... (pg. 76)
The audience was not only given an idea of what they were thinking before the battle. The author also
makes a point to include a song that the Indians wrote after they had defeated General Custer and his
men, At that time the Indians did not realized they had fought Custer...when they found out, they sang
about him. David Humphreys Miller transcribed one such kill song... (pg. 54)
With the erudition given in the story, the reader concludes that the Native American leaders were fully
developed human beings.

Examples Of Nursing Ethical Dilemma
Introduction
Nurses face ethical dilemmas on a daily basis. As nurses, we must be knowledgeable about the tools
we have to help guide our decisions when solving an ethical dilemma. The tools we have are our
ethical principles, ethical framework, and the ANA Code of Ethics for nurses. This paper will describe
a scenario where nurses were faced with an ethical dilemma regarding a baby. The ethical frameworks
and ANA Code of Ethics will be discussed in helping guide a solution to this scenario. Finally, an
analysis will be done about this scenario and a decision will be made. As nurses we must use these
tools because they will allow us to make better decisions more comfortably.
Observation
The first scenario took place in a children s hospital. The scenario was about a baby, named TJ, who
had many birth defects; the baby was blind, deaf, mute, and not be able to walk in the future. The baby
was given up by his mother and was left in the hands on the hospital (doctors, nurses, and other health
care staff) to care for. The dilemma occurred when nurses began to question on how to care for this
baby. Being that the baby had a very poor prognosis, nurses were conflicted if they should do
everything to care for this baby, such as do push ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As humans, with experience and knowledge we learn right from wrong. We are faced with situations
where we have to decide from right and wrong depending on our own morals and ethical views. Ethics
and morality essentially guide our thoughts, choices, and actions. According to Marquis and Huston
(2017), ethics is defined as a system of moral conduct and principles that guide a person s actions in
regards to right and wrong and in regard to oneself and society at large (p.83). Nurses are often faced
with ethical issues on a daily basis. For this reason, ethical frameworks for decision making have been
established to help guide the nurses in solving ethical

Analysis Of The Song Crazy Blues

Title of Recording: Crazy Blues
Artist: Noble Sissle
UCSB Cylinder Number: 9806
Crazy Blues by Noble Sissle is a cover of the song originally written by Perry Bradford. This timeless
piece of history was first recorded on August 10th, 1920 by Mamie Smith and later released on as a
vinyl record by Okeh Records.3 Smith s version of the song was wildly successful, selling 75,000
copies in the first month following its release. Within a year, the record had sold over a million copies,
and in all, two million copies were purchased.4 After its incredible success, recording companies
rushed to record other African American singers. Noble Sissle s version was recorded later that same
year, and had similar success. Despite the large quantity of blues recordings during the 1920 s, Crazy
Blues is considered the first successful blues song recorded by an African American artist.9 Ironically,
Crazy Blues is considered more of a popular song than a blues song despite many references to blues
throughout the track. Nevertheless, this song paved the way for black music makers into a then
predominately white recording industry, and quickly after its release, a market for black music
emerged. Perry Bradford, who wrote Crazy Blues , also persuaded several record companies to invest
in a music market specifically for blacks.9 After record companies realized the lucrativeness of selling

He was a friend who listened to every problem of her and suggested the best ways to get out of those
problems and if he could not give a solution he made sure to at least lend her a smile. The beauty of

of being there for each other. At the same time, their relationship did not distress their commitment to
their own companions. They were still together and yet not together. Their relationship was Pure.
Relationship of Krishna and Draupadi had always been very controversial. Everyone had a different
opinion about their relation, some consider it to be a love relationship and some consider it as just
friendship. Krishna and Krishnaa s friendship is quite unique and modern, to her, Lord Krishna is a

Chinese New Year Celebration Festival
Introduction
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, one of the most considerable festival for
Chinese which gains significance and centuries old. It is rooted in religious and cultural elements
which dating back thousands of years. And is now becomes a week long celebration festival for every

Being a Chinese, Chinese New Year means a lot to me which I also fully engaged in this festival
starting from the day I born. I think this cultural activity is important in consumer research, as it has
changed from a myth to festival throughout the years, making it falls within the idea of consumer

The practices that people do before, during and after Chinese New Year involve a lot of spending
leading this festival to falls within the idea of consumer fantasyland , for instance, making purchase

(a life in Maycomb) To Kill a Mockingbird is a story about shells distinctions of a person based on character, actions, circumstances, or race that society uses to define him. A few characters in this novel, though, can see through these shells, into the person beneath. Unfortunately, the rest of the world is quite different... Harper Lee wrote To Kill a Mockingbird in the 1950s, a time of excessive prejudice and contempt in her home state of Alabama. Through carving out her own childhood and the world around her, Lee wrote a novel widely known as the 20th century s greatest work of literature. To Kill a Mockingbird focuses in the ... After a trial, Atticus tells Jem, If you had been on that jury, son, and eleven other boys like you, Tom would be a free man. We do see the outcome that happens when shells are ignored. At night, a group of rough woodmen approach Atticus, ready to exert force on his defendant. Scout suddenly interjects the group, and begins talking with a big gruff man, Mr. Cunningham of his work, and his son, Walter. The gruffness of the group is immediately broken; all the men are shocked. Scout recalls, The men were all looking at me, some had their mouths half open...Their attention amounted to fascination. A few moments later, Mr. Cunningham bends down and says to Scout, I ll tell [Walter] you said hey, little lady. The group is then dispersed, a brute, cold natured bunch shown to be calm, rational men. Later on, we learn that this incident positively effects Tom Robinson s case. But this natural perspective evident in children doesn t last. [JEM SHELL] Directly after praising Jem, Atticus tells him, So far, nothing in life has interfered with your reasoning process...There s something in our world that makes men lose their heads. • 4. Religious Significance The Pantheon And The Dome Of The Rock Kathryn Shim November 24, 2015 Professor Moser TA Ginny Reynolds, Wednesday 5pm The Religious Significance the Pantheon and the Dome of the Rock Convey Architecture comes with many significant meanings, including religious significance. The Pantheon, built from 118 to 125 CE in Rome, Italy, was a temple made to worship the Roman gods and goddesses. This temple is one of the most important buildings both in history and architecture, influencing many other monuments with its form, such as The Dome of the Rock. The Dome of the Rock, built from 687 to 692 CE, was the first great Islamic building. Located in Jerusalem, it is a shrine still very significant to many religions, such as Judaism and Christianity, today. Though not resembling each other in appearance, these buildings are extremely similar, in terms of religious meaning. The Pantheon and the Dome of the Rock, through their own distinctive form and similar location backgrounds, illuminate religion as the most important factor in each society, as these monuments symbolize a sense of unification throughout the city. The Dome of the Rock and the Pantheon are constructed similarly. The Dome of the Rock was even influenced by the Pantheon, built on a domed central plan structure. While the two buildings look different in appearance, they have similar forms. They both contain geometric structures. In the front, the Pantheon has a porch, with a triangular top. We are taught that capitalism hurts no one and that capitalism is the only way. Johnson and Robbins have some very influential ideas about capitalism. Johnson writes about the complexity of privilege. He also addresses why some privileged people do not feel privileged through the matrix of capitalist domination. Robbins gives us a background on how privilege became what it is today. He addresses the anatomy of the working class by drawing attention to how they were mobile, divided, powerless, and anxious for a revolution. Through Johnson and Robbins eyes we can begin to see how the world is not the one we were taught it was. In Johnson s book, Privilege, Power, and Difference, he writes about the matrix of capitalist domination, but to really understand the reader must look back to the previous chapter when he writes about privilege. Johnson asked the reader to list qualities such as gender, race, sexual orientation, and class. After doing so, Johnson explained that such qualities have one side that receives privilege in society. These privileges range from having a better schooling to getting a job over someone who does not have the privileged qualities. Unni Langås also wrote an essay on Ibsen s drama and about Nora s specific motives. He wrote, When she performs acts that are generally reserved for men, or withdraws from practices associated with women, she shows the gender attribution of these acts to be social constructions and thereby contests their reified status (157). So, Langås claims that Nora s rebellion and discontent began long before she literally walked out on Trovald, her husband. She appeared to suffer from a vigorous cough, which originated deep in her chest. Delicate curls framed her fragile face as hair was neatly swept to one side. A double string of ivory pearls swooped around her neck, landing in the lull of her collarbone. Vintage black eyeglasses were diligently balancing on the bridge of her crinkly nose. The wrinkles that adorned her face were indicative of many years lived and with each cough, they furrowed. She wore a knitted rose cardigan over what appeared to be a light blue night gown. A Short Note On Lymphoma And Lymphom Lymphoma Hodgkin?s Lymphoma Hodgkin?s Lymphoma (HL), also called Hodgkin?s Disease is a rare type of lymphoma that develops when the body?s immune system produces abnormal B lymphocytes. HL was discovered in 1832 by Dr. Thomas Hodgkin?s. HL is most commonly diagnosed by the presence of a mutated B cell called a Reed Sternberg cell and targets the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is comprised of many different things, tissues, nodes, vessels, capillaries, and organs. Hodgkin?s Lymphoma?s most distinctive presenting sign is painless lymphadenopathy. These swollen nodes are commonly in the cervical or supraclavicular area, but may present as a mediastinal mass. Mediastinal masses can be painless and asymptomatic, but also can block the superior vena cava and cause respiratory symptoms such as cough and dyspnea. Chemistry Cake Testing Lab Report Chemistry Baking Project Factorial Experiment 9/25/17 Nick Arana, Joey Hensel Arana, Hensel Chemistry G Objective: The purpose of this experiment is to further comprehend the chemistry of baking a cake through research and experimentation. Background: It may be surprising; however, the process of baking a cake involves a sufficient amount of chemistry. A physical property is a property that can be observed or measured without changing the composition of matter. For example, the color of the cake does not affect the volume, texture, or flavor of the cake; it only affects the appearance of it. Color is a physical property of the cake. On the other hand, a chemical property is a property or behavior of a substance when it undergoes a chemical change or reaction. For example, a chemical property of the cake would be that the cake can burn, spoil, or be digested. Everything added to the cake batter affects the texture of it. For example, without the flour, the cake batter would be close to a liquid, but by adding the flour it gives the cake more volume and it changes the texture. A chemical reaction/change is any change that results in the formation of new chemical substances. When the cake batter bakes and turns into cake, this is a chemical change. In a physical reaction/change, the molecules rearrange, but it does not affect their internal structures (no new substance is formed). When eggs are whipped, it is a physical change or ... They are the first responders to incidents that require law enforcement assistance within a facility. It can be assessed that security guards indirectly affect the economy, because their protection allows people to work and spend money, which helps to restore the economy. Having security guards in any facility makes people feel safe and protected; and such a responsibility of public trust should entitle them to a higher salary. Moreover, they deserve more pay because protecting people is a difficult task, and a high percentage of people do not cooperate with authority. Some people object to having security guards in facilities and around them; which makes the job of a security officer more complex. The challenge of having to protect a facility is a tough job, but protecting a facility on a 24 hour basis and protecting hundreds or thousands of people at the same time is a job that definitely should entitle more pay. When performing their duties, pay is the last thing on the minds of security guards. The protection of both the people and property, remain their priorities and they remain vigilant in doing so. The first being Possible and actual existence , and the second being Contingent or Necessary . One should start off with the first summarized in the standard form as follows: #1 It is a conceptual truth that God is a being than which none greater can be imagined. #2 God exists as an idea in the mind. #3 A being that exists as an idea in the mind and in reality is, other things being equal, greater than a being that exists only as an idea in the mind. #4 Thus, if God exists only as an idea in the mind, then we can imagine something that is greater than God. #5 But we cannot imagine something that is greater than ... Second, a being: one s basic nature, or the qualities thereof; essence or personality[3]. Third, greater: of ability, quality, or eminence considerably above the normal or average [4]. Forth, imagined: form a mental image or concept of [4]. Fifth, Idea: a thought or suggestion as to a possible course of action [4]. For John, the preparedness of the church is synonymous with the righteous activity of her saints. In addition to the church s call to active participation as the partner of Christ in righteous action in the world, the text takes a subtle yet critical turn toward a Eucharistic theology, as John references the invitation to the marriage supper of the Lamb a point that will be discussed in greater detail at a later juncture. While the word church is not directly mentioned in the pericope, it must be noted that other biblical texts such as 2 Corinthians 11:2 3 and Ephesians 5: 25 27 lend support to the notion of the church as Christ s bride. As the narrative develops John takes great care to remind his reader that the revelation that he receives comes as a result of an angelic encounter. Toward the end of the pericope, the angel with whom John speaks, seems to confirm that what John experiences has come from God as evidenced by the statement These are true words of God. One of them was particularly religious and judgmental. Burton portrays Joyce as a flirtatious liar. Kim s boyfriend, on the other hand, was controlling and impulsive. This falsified necessity for a male counterpart has resulted in the destruction of female independence and sexual oppression. First, Blanche is very conscious of her appearance; hiding herself under dim lights and make up, afraid of being judged by men around her. Whoever you are I have always depended on the kindness of strangers (Williams 142), Blanche s need for kindness of strangers refers to her miscellaneous encounters with men in the past to make her feel worthy. She means what she says when she urges them not to notice her (toles). Toles refers to scene 3, where it is evident that Blanche seeks approval from men around her even though they payed no mind to her. Another demonstration of her need for admiration to gain self confidence is this excerpt You haven t said a word about my appearance (Williams 21), where she urged Stanley to notice her to fulfill her desire to feel beautiful. Not only did Blanche believe a male s opinion was almost a necessity, she also believed that they were the only thing that can save her despair. This type of immunity protects those people, children and adults, who can not be vaccinated due to age, poor health conditions or those whom are immune compromised. These are the individuals that rely on the herd to be vaccinated to prevent contraction of vaccine preventable diseases. This means the more individuals who are vaccinate the less likely the disease will spread. Another risk is the protection of future generations. An example of this is the chicken pox vaccination: if a child is vaccinated against the chicken pox virus when young, the chances of the child acquiring Shingle s Zoster as an adult is dramatically decreased. Vaccinations helps protect an unborn child if the mother is vaccinated prior pregnancy; it prevents the disease from being transferred to the baby while in the womb or during the delivery. • 43. Drunk Driving Is More Precious Than Anything Else Drunk Driving Denis Pichardo Miami Dade College Drunk Driving Life is more precious than anything else, and everybody would love to live to the fullest. In life, there are decisions that people make that can shorten their lives. Though it s argued that life is under God s control, there is no doubt that there exist self inflicted injuries that shorten life on earth. The decisions people make therefore have dire consequences on their life. To drink and drive is an example of such courageous decisions with profound effects in people s life. The ultimate price for drunk driving is an accident, and the legal consequence is jail. It s illegal to drink and drive even though people still engage in the act (Carpenter, 2004). This, therefore, calls for more stringent and tougher rules to help curb the habit. There is the need to review the current laws and regulations to check on the rate of drunken driving failure to which more lives will be lost at an unexpected time. There are several reasons as to why drunk driving should not be encouraged. First and foremost, when one is under the influence of alcohol, their ability to make a sound judgment decreases. One becomes subconscious, and this limits the capacity to think and act when required.
