The Juche Ideology of North Korea Essay
Ideology can be looked at different perspectives of the way people think about it. Some people think
that ideology is bad, while some people think it is good. Ideology takes a very harmful way in
Christianity; Pope Francis explains to Christians that ideology drives away the church and the people.
In his perspective of mind, ideology is a serious illness. (Dolan) In some other places such as North
Korea, ideology is a dangerous belief system. North Koreans Ideology is most commonly referred as
Juche, this ideology is harmful to people because most people would like to praise people who do
good things, but in North Korea people have to pray to a dictator who is capable of killing, torturing,
and murdering his own people.

(Juche Religion)
Kim Il Sung created this dangerous belief system so that North Koreans would always obey him.
Before Dictatorship North Korea was an independent nation, it was a colony full of Christians. Kim Il
Sung noticed how Christians worshipped the Japanese ruler who ruled Korea. When North Korea
declared as a country, Kim Il Sung changed the form of Christianity and he declared himself as a God
so that North Korea will always praise and pray him. Christians revolted against this, so Kim Il Sung
annihilated most of them because he did not want his own people suspecting him of Juche and put lots
of people in concentration camps and they still reside there. (Juche Religion) Juche originated from
Marxism Leninism. Marxism Leninism was created by Karl Marx, some of the main points in this
ideology are that a communist party should be able to perform and play major roles in society. Some
other beliefs in Marxism Leninism are that modern capitalism should turn into imperialism.
(Piskunov) North Korea gained inspiration from Marxism Leninism, which is why this ideology is one
of the main ideologies that Juche originated. Some other ideologies that Juche originated were
Confucianism. Confucianism was developed in China by a man named Kong Qiu (Confucius). Kong
Qiu travelled across the country to spread his teachings, but at that time his beliefs was not popular
and some of his beliefs were how to do the right things in life. He

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been a vital part of the Wal Mart Corporation s growth. At
the beginning of the 1990s, Wal Mart trailed K Mart which at that time could negotiate lower
wholesale prices due to its huge size. Part of Sam Walton s strategy for catching up was to set up a
point of sale system. Such a system is a computerized network that identifies each item that is sold,
locates the price in a computerized database. After this, the system creates an accurate customer sales
receipt and stores item by item sales information for use in analysis of sales and reordering inventory.
The strategic use of this helps Wal Mart avoid overstocking issues by learning what merchandise
items are slow sellers. This has made Wal Mart s inventory and distribution system a world leader. For
example, in 5 year period, Wal Mart invested somewhere above $600 million IT Wal mart: attaining

The Effects Of Soda On High School Vending Machines...
You may be familiar with recent regulation, which was initiated for the 2014 15 school year, where the
United States Department of Agriculture enforced regulatory guidelines on food items sold in schools
across the nation. Although there was previously a nutritional requirement for food in school, as
Marion Nestle, a Professor of Nutrition at New York University, points out in her very influential
article of the time, this requirement [did] not apply to foods sold outside of school cafeterias in snack
bars, school stores, or vending machines (Nestle 308). Many proponents of the recent regulation are
astonished that such regulation was not in place from the beginning. Unfortunately, this action was
influenced by an ever rising concern for the obesity rate in the US population, and not a desire to
proactively encourage a healthy lifestyle. The history of soda in high school vending machines carries
with it heavy economic interest, a plethora of lobbying and some imperative details, which we may
find useful in our consideration of diet soda. Coca Cola and PepsiCo are the two major companies that
compete in the soft drink arena. By the late 1990s these companies were already well established in
high school vending machines, but the competitive market required quite a bit more action (Nestle
310). In fact the companies began to, as Nestle claims, view school children as an attractive marketing
opportunity, and use every possible means to promote their products to this young,

Working Animals In The Call Of The Wild
Today, many people own dogs as pets; however, in Jack London s book, The Call of the Wild, dogs
are working animals. To humans, dogs are only servants. Two reasons for this are that humans don t
care about dogs feelings and that humans don t care if their dogs are in pain. One reason that humans
use dogs only as servants is that they don t care about dogs feelings. For example, Manuel doesn t care
that he is betraying Buck. London writes, ...Manuel doubled a piece of stout rope around Buck s neck
under the collar (London 1 2). This shows that Manuel doesn t care what happens to Buck after he
betrays him, and he only cares about getting his money. Furthermore, Perrault and Francois don t care
that Buck worked hard to earn the lead position.

Siemens Development Strategy
Siemens AG: Global Development Strategy
What were the major causes of the problems with the NetManager project? (I m not looking for a list
of points made in the case; I m looking for you to step back to a higher level and analyze why these
problems occurred.)
The problems experienced by the NetManager project appear to be symptoms of integration vs.
responsiveness issue within Siemens AG. As a transnational company, Siemens faces strong pressure
to globally integrate its operations, and be responsive to the needs of their offices and customer s
needs. The main problem with NetManager was that it had mushroomed in size and strategic
importance. This was the result of keeping up with the rapidly changing technological demands, and
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The case also traces back their erroneous assumptions to a lack of communication between German
managers and Indian developers due to extended vacations with no alternative outlet for which to seek
necessary support.
Munich headquarters had been too removed from the realities and operations of the Bangalore office,
and failed to provide the adequate support needed to build NetManager. This translates to an issue of
global integration.
What should Siemens do next regarding the Net Manager project?
Having outlined a lack of support from Munich headquarters as a reason for NetManager s
shortcomings, Siemens should keep project development in Bangalore. Rather than shifting
development to Europe, which would result in tremendous transaction costs, Siemens should shift the
necessary resources for completion to Bangalore. First, they should send the necessary executive
knowledge, meaning German executives with the in depth knowledge of EWSD systems. This would
overcome interdependency issues, and guarantee greater quality at each step of the development
process. Next, they should make the proper investments in infrastructure and systems hardware. The
Bangalore RDC should be as up to date as possible, so as to avoid the prior testbed problem, and so
that their office may be as equipped as possible to adapt to changing technological trends. In the short
term, this results in a completed NetManager program that meets the needs and standards of their

My hunger grew intensely as I did not pack any food for what I thought was a short journey regretting
my action I continued on.
Beatrice and I stopped by a creek for a short rest; we lay together under a tree and l looked up
somehow mesmerized by the dark clouds, lost in my own thoughts I fell into a deep slumber. Unaware
of the time I woke up dumbstruck as heavy rain shoots down from the sky and gustily wind pushing
hard against my face with the sound of thunder crackling all around me. Beatrice and I struggling to
get up we hurried to our carriage and quickly took refuge, with our clothes wet and damp we waited
for the unforgiving rain to end. With much luck the horrific storm lasted for only a couple more
minutes which was a huge relief but had made us fallen behind schedule. We step out of the carriage
soaking wet as we hurried to change and quickly continued with no time to spare.
Hungry we were Beatrice and I decided that we should stop by an inn hoping to find some food
though we have been riding for so long that we don t know for sure if we were travelling in the right
direction relying on my experience we went on. Beatrice than asked me sweetie are you sure this is the

Montgomery Bus Boycott Outline
The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a political and social protest campaign against racial segregation.
The boycott started on December 5, 1955, until December 20, 1956, in Montgomery, Alabama.
African Americans had to get up out of there seats if they were asked by a white citizen and sit in the
back of the bus or stand. The bus boycott lasted 381 days. Rosa Parks was known for playing a big
role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott segregation. Rosa Parks was asked to give up her seat after a
long day at work to a white man. The bus divided into 2 sections, there was a white side and a black
side. If the white side of the bus was full, than an African American had to get up out of there seat and
stand up so the white citizen can sit. Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist and leader of the
Montgomery Bus Boycott. Rosa Louise McCauley, was born on February 4, 1913, in Tuskegee,
Alabama. Rosa dropped out of school as a teen, to help take care of her mother. Rosa met her husband

Refugee Challenges
There are many challenges that refugees face fleeing home, finding home, and moving to a new
country altogether. Some refugees have been abused in their own country, and some have been
persecuted. Others have lost their country because of war. Refugees have no choice but to flee and
find home and this turns them inside out and back again. In Inside out and back and again Ha
experienced many of the challenges that refugees face. Some of the challenges that she faced were
adapting to a new life in the US, making friends, and finding home, these challenges that Ha faced
also reflect on the universal refugee experience.
People from all over the world face traumatizing experiences that cause them to leave their home
countries. War, famine, natural disasters, persecution, and discrimination are just a few of the reasons
people flee. For example, in the excerpt from Children of War, the author states, the war in the
Balkans has caused grievous suffering for millions of people (Brice). Inside Out and Back Again
represents that universal experience as well when Ha states, people run and scream Communists! (Lai
68) which refers to how the war has led the Communists to take over Ha s home of Saigon. Clearly Ha
is experiencing what refugees all over the world experience when they have to flee their home
countries because of war.
All refugees face many challenges when fleeing home. Some challenges that they have to face are loss
of a family member or trying to adapt to a new

Occ Is A Maryland Corporation
OCC is a Maryland corporation that exists to serve utility companies and process telephone calls from
individual who intend to undertake excavation projects. OCC maintains contracts for its services in a
number of states across the county. At the time OCC was incorporated, it was completely owned by
Thomas Hoff ( Hoff ). Volkman was hired by OCC in 1984. When Volkman was hired she held the
title of Director of Operation. In 1993, Volkman entered into an employment agreement whereby
Volkman would serve as vice president of OCC at its corporate office in Minnesota. Under this
agreement, Volkman could only be terminated for Good Cause, or upon fifteen days prior notice.
Volkman s responsibilities as vice president of OCC included, but were not limited to, facilitating
acquisitions, making hiring decisions, and establishing policies and procedures. Additionally, Volkman
was tasked with maintaining a contract in Minnesota with Gopher State One Call ( GSOC ). Indeed,
Volkman was a longtime employee of OCC who had worked her way up through the organization and
was highly valued. She was also highly compensated, earning in excess of $400,000 per year. In or
around 2007, Hoff expressed an intent to divest himself of his interest in OCC and retire. In
recognition that much of OCC s value is derived from Hoff s association with the company, Hoff
created Hanover as a holding company that existed for the only purpose of owning shares of OCC.

The Devil s Woods Research Paper
In a small farming village named Haten around 1648, a legend spread through the town. It said that if
a hunter lucky enough to find and shoot a blue spirit in the form of a rabbit with a bow and arrow in
the Devil s Woods, they could cure any illness that was afflicted with a human. Of course, many
people jumped at this myth, and set out to find those rabbits so they could cure the mysterious illness
the village leader had, as a great reward was being held. In their travels, many of them never returned
or came back with serious injuries, and more rumors told how a malicious beast named Raion, a
centaur with a lion s head, that wielded a sword and a magical bow wandered the forest, picking off
hunters one by one who dared hunt the blue rabbits. One hunter, however, was unfazed by these tales

Autonomy And Professionalism
Finally, at the heart at which governs how doctors act and behave are the four principles of medical
ethics (autonomy, beneficence, non maleficence, justice) and professionalism. From a BH tutorial on
ethics and professionalism, there was a case in which an elderly man s vision was slightly below the
values required to drive. If one was to come to a straightforward conclusion, it will be that as a doctor
you will not sign his medical report form stating his medical fitness to drive. Despite showing justice
and non maleficence to the patient, there is a conflict between autonomy and beneficence. However if
the doctor was to sign it, it would put people on the road at risk. It would also be unfair on the people

Mexican Ethnicity
Ethnic groups are made up people who share a unique social and cultural background. Society has put
in our minds that we need ethnic identifications to feel part of a certain group of people. These
feelings of belonging or attachment to a certain group of people is a normal thing for us humans but,
why can t we be more than one? Many people shame on you for identifying yourself with one certain
culture when you come from a mixed background. There are millions of people that live here in the
US but are of Mexican descent. Being a Mexican American can be difficult because of all the
stereotypes and discrimination, but also carries a sense of pride.
Many times people look at a person and assume they are a specific race. Newsflash people! Mexican
Americans can all come in different types of coloring. There are the typical stereotypical remarks like,
You need to be brown to be Mexican, and if you are darker skinned then they assume you come from
Mexico and are illegal. If a light skinned Mexican goes to Mexico then they think you are gringos or
American, so basically neither side will accept you for what you truly are. People just need to accept
that there are light and dark skinned people in every ethnicity. If you are a light Mexican, people judge
you for it since you fooled them. If a person looks white but then they start speaking Spanish, others
consider it as unacceptable and assume that person must be an immigrant. Practically all Mexican
laborers are of a racial

The Internal Revenue Code
I am writing this letter on behalf of my client to explain the potential benefits of electing to be taxed as
sub chapter S to your board members. As we all know, for many companies, the most important tax
decision to make is whether to elect to be treated under the provisions of sub chapter S of the Internal
Revenue Code, or not. This decision mainly depends on your company s situation, and on analyzing
the advantages and disadvantages of choosing to be treated as an S Corporation. Generally, an S
corporation does not pay corporate level tax, as C corporations do. The corporate income, whether
distributed or not, is always taxed to the shareholders, and the shareholders assets and bank accounts
are protected from any business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The excess of loss can be carried back to prior years, or forward to later years. If the S corporation did
not distribute income to shareholders, the shareholders would still be responsible to pay taxes on the
income, according to their shares in the corporation. Also, an S corporation also has no corporate
alternative minimum tax (AMT) liability, and they are subject to an accumulated earnings tax that
applies to corporations that do not distribute their earnings, but it might affect the shareholders
individual AMT liability. In an S corporation, shareholders receive a step up (or step down) in the
basis of their stock, based on the earnings they obtain each year, which reduces the shareholder s tax
liability when the shares are sold. The step up in basis helps reduce the net income subject to capital
gain tax; when the shareholder receives distributed income that was taxed previously to him/her, the
stock basis should be reduced. Also, any time the corporation suffers a net operating loss, the
shareholder must reduce the basis of their stock to reflect the amount of loss passed through to them
for their individual tax return. In order to obtain an S Corporation election, an election must be made
on or before the fifteenth day of the third month of the current taxable year for it to be effective for
that year. Electing Subchapter S after the fifteenth day of the third month of the

Thus, all distributed applications, including remote logon, client/server, email, file transfer, Web
access, and so on, can be secured (Stallings, 2009). Finally, Stallings (2009) has noted, another
relatively general purpose solution is to implement security just above TCP by using Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL) and the follow on Internet standard Transport Layer Security (TLS). For full generality,
SSL, (TLS) could be provided as part of the underlying protocol suite and therefore be transparent to
applications. Alternatively, SSL can be embedded in specific packages.
Critique the transition process performed by the DMS in the case study. Then, recommend two (2)
alternatives to the IP Infrastructure or applications not already mentioned in the case study: By the
early 1990s, the Florida department of management services (DMS) had built up a large information
systems network that serve state government agencies in 10 regional sites and connected these to the
data center in Tallahassee. The network was based on the use of the proprietary systems network
architecture (SNA) from IBM and mainframe at the data center that housed most of the applications.
Although relatively happy with the SNA application and services by providing TCP/IP capability and
internet access. The goal was met in a remarkably short time. Over the course of 30 months, DMS

The British Educational System
THE BRITISH EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.
The basic features of the British educational system are the same as they are anywhere else in Europe.
There are three recognized stages, with children moving from the first stage (primary) to the second
stage (secondary) at around the age of 11. The third (tertiary) stage is further education at university or
college. British children start compulsory education at the age of five. Very young children, ususally 3
or 4 years old go to nursery school. Nursery edcuation is voluntary.
However, there is quite a lot which distinguishes education in Britain from the way it works in other
countries. Compulsory education is free of charge, but parents may spend money on educating their
children privately if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nor does it dictate the exact hours of the school day, the exact dates of holidays or the exact age at
which a child must start in full time education. It does not manage an institution s finances either, it
just decides how much money to give it. In general, as many details as possible are left up to the
individual institution or the Local Education Authority (LEA, a branch of local government). All the
central government does is to ensure the availability of education, and set overall learning objectives
which they enforce through a system of inspectors.
Recent developments.
Some of the changes that have taken place in British education reflect the wider social process of
increased egalitarianism. Before 1965 most children had to take an exam (=the eleven plus exam) at
about the age of eleven, at the end of their primary schooling. If they passed this exam, they went to a
grammar school where they were taught academic subjects to prepare them for university ; if they
failed, they went to a secondary modern school, where they teach practical, job related subjects, and
pupils learn skills like hairdressing or travel and tourism. Many people argued that it was wrong for a
person s future life to be decided at so young an age. The children who went to secondary moderns
tended to be seen as failures . Moreover, the system seemed to reinforce class distinctions (more
higher class children managed to get into the grammar schools). So

Science Fiction And Cultural Values
Science Fiction and Cultural Values
Introduction
Science fiction is a genre of creative writing which has stories that are connected with the future of
technology and science. This style of writing is often seen in graphic novels, fiction novels, television
series, and in film. Some common portrayals of science fiction include time and space travel. At times,
these stories feature life that is found on other planets apart from Earth. The tales are usually based on
new technologies, different social systems and scientific discoveries. Science fiction may seem to be a
fantasy because the technologies involved sometimes look unrealistic. However, that fantasy becomes
a reality when it changes how people view their daily lives.
History of science fiction
Philosophical stories and texts from centuries ago have some imagery that relates back to science
fiction. The stories imply that, even then, they predicted advances in science in future years to come.
Religious poems and stories that talk about the creation or demolition of the universe have some
elements that are like the elements of Science fiction. The powers used by science fiction can be
associated with those of the gods during and before biblical times. An example of an old philosophical
text which can be associated with science fiction is Plato s The Republic . The topics and adventures
discussed in the text are viewed as a fantasy and do not seem practical in real life because they cannot
be experienced using normal

Richard Preston s The Hot Zone
In The Hot Zone by Richard Preston, the three major themes repeatedly emphasized are predator
versus prey, sacrifice, and going against the odds. The book uses the struggle to contain and
exterminate the filoviruses to convey these three ideas. It treats the filoviruses as a predator, and the
humans as the prey. It enforces this idea over and over again by using animalistic qualities to describe
the humans and the filoviruses, giving them both the same amount of consciousness and personality.
The Ebola Zaire strain was nearly twice as lethal as Ebola Sudan. It seemed to emerge out of the

We re looking at a highly sophisticated organism, aren t we? The filoviruses are dangerous. They are
responsible for the deaths of thousands, nation wide panic, and the abandonment of homes and
villages. But although the book describes the filoviruses with gruesome scenes filled with blood and
terror, it also depicts the calm, quiet moments as well, letting the reader fall back and appreciate how
peaceful it can be between the moments of panic. I heard a ball bounce, and saw a boy dribbling as
basketball on a playground. The ball cast rubbery echoes off the former monkey house. Children s
shouts came from the daycare center through the trees. The reader gradually understands that no
matter how peaceful the world can seem to be, it will always revert briefly back into its times of chaos

Rio Sonora Valley Incident Analysis
In August 2014, while I was on holidays in a remote region of Mexico called The Rio Sonora Valley, I
witnessed the most outrageous natural disaster I have ever seen. It was caused by the spilling of more
than 40,000m3 of copper sulphate in the river, which savagely polluted it and affected thousands of
people, cattle and fish among others. This particular incident triggered my research about water
pollution, with a special focus on copper, and led me to the discovery of chitosan as a possible
cleanser of river waters.
Copper commonly occurs as a pollutant in surface fresh waters and it can be extremely toxic to fish ,
and so its removal is often necessary . There are several methods that exist in the actuality, such as
adsorption on activated

I think that animal testing is a cruel and inhuman thing...
I think that animal testing is a cruel and inhuman thing to do especially if you are hurting the animal
on purpose. Even though animals don t have rights you should still not abuse them by burning them,
pulling their eyes out, or just beating them. Did you know that over hundred million animals are
abused in U.S. labs every year? Imagine if you were in the animals place how would you feel, would
you try to do something about it?
Animals are used to test on for things like medical studies, cosmetic testing, and behavioral studies.
Animal testing first started in early Greek in the 2nd and 4th centuries BCE.
Some famous researchers from the early ages who tested on animals are people like Abenzoar, an arab
physician and Moorish Spain who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And only about 36 percent that are in pain are given anesthesia to help relieve the the pain, so that
means that the other 64 percent of animals are are in pain. I think that rules for animal testing should
be strict so that not every year 100 million animals are in pain, suffering, or slowly dying because of
us humans. There are many different things we can use instead of testing on animals and killing them
like for example we can use human cells or we can use dead humans but the person being researched
on has to know and be okay with it just like a donor. Most of the test that are tested on are for
cosmetic testing, toxicology testing, drug testing, biomedical research, and also for educational
reasons. And most the animals that get tested on usually the drugs work on them but end up not
working on humans, another reason why animal testing is bad. Rabbits get tested on for contact lenses
and after researchers have put the lenses in the rabbits the take lenses out and take the rabbit s eye out.
Humans have rights and animals are pretty similar to humans so why shouldn t animals have rights.
Animal testing laws should be more strict so not a lot of animals end up dying. Animals are an
important part of this world, and if we don t take good care of them and keep on killing them, then
what are researchers going to do. Just like if you take out an animal out of a food chain then the whole
entire food chain gets affected, if we take out animals

Application Of Using Smart Card
Abstract The objective is to give authorized clients access to sensitive data, while ensuring the data
from others. We are planning to implement it utilizing three factor authentication scheme combines a
one time secret key plan for customer validation (one time password), biometric password and secure
flash card (smart card). Our fundamental design contemplations were security, execution,
convenience, accessibility, and scale. Biometric scan can be implemented using smart card. The
created secure flash card has tamper resistant module, which contains client validation data and
security keys, thus the system is highly secure. The point of interest of this methodology is that the
client s biometric information is not imparted to remote server. At the same time the inconvenience is
that the remote server must trust the smart card to perform legitimate confirmation which prompts
different vulnerabilities. A nonspecific and secure system is proposed to overhaul two factor
authentication to three component authentication. The transformation not just altogether enhances the
data confirmation requiring little to no effort additionally secures customer protection in disseminated
frameworks. Furthermore, this system holds a few practice accommodating properties of the
fundamental two component authentication, which we accept is of autonomous investment.

Evangelical Protestant Essay
To properly label a Christian an evangelical Protestant, one must ask four basic questions and receive
an answer that as a whole, evangelical Protestants accept as correct . The questions are: [W]hat must a
person do to be saved?[, W]here does religious authority lie?[, W]hat is the church?[,] and [W]hat is
the essence of Christian living? ( Evangelicalism , Dictionary of Christianity in America) Through
answering and receiving the correct responses, one should be able to define an evangelical Protestant.
The answer to the first question is found in Ephesians 2:8, For by grace you have been saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God[.] One must have faith in Jesus Christ by
accepting who He claims to be, the Son of God who is God. (John 1:1 4, 3:16 17, 14:6) In accepting

in God. As a people whom God calls together in Christ[,] (Von Allmen, 54) the term Body of Christ as

President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR)
President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) is known for his influential pieces of legislation that were
passed and signed into law during America s darkest days of the Great Depression and World War II.
Within the first hundred days of President Roosevelt s first term he signed the New Deal . This New
Deal created government programs to help produce government jobs for the unemployed, help
promote economic growth, and helped regulate the banks and Wall Street. Some of the original New
Deal programs are still in use today such as: the Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Social Security. President Roosevelt showed great leadership and
knowledge during our nation s crises.
Born in Hyde Park, New York, in 1882, President Franklin grew up in a wealthy and political family;

Blacks Are Not All Living in Poverty
Kelli Frazier February 12, 2007 Mrs. Lugo Essay #1 Blacks Are Not All Living in Poverty The color
of your skin should not determine your status in today s society; the type of employment you can or

the poverty line in the black community and are constantly being judged and criticized due to their
income, type of family and if they are married. Though many struggle, they can not all fit into one

Going to school and getting an education and following through will lead to a life of success. Yes, it is
a proven fact that blacks who live out of the ghetto live a better life than those who live in it; all
children who grow up in poverty do not always end up poor. This is true because there are many men
and women who have survived poverty and achieved success, such as Ophra Winfrey. The Negro
Family: The Case for National Action report by Daniel Moynihan persuades readers to think that
blacks are living in poverty are all not able to achieve a good life. He says that if black men were to all
have jobs then black families would stay out of poverty. This is false because a family s income is not
determined by just the man. A black woman can have a higher paying job and support the family
financially. The report points that single parent women are not able to raise children in the ghetto
because of the environment and statistics of the past. Single, black mothers and fathers can raise their
child to be intelligent and successful without being in a high end part of town. These statistics are not
accurate for everyone in the black community. There is a saying in the African American culture that
we want more than a hand out, but a hand up! Fortunately many that have had a better life reach back
to those who have not. This hand up comes in the form of mentorship for young men and women

A Trip To The Railway Essay
So they all sat down on a great flat grey stone that had pushed itself up out of the grass; it was one of
many that lay about on the hillside, and when Mother came out to look for them at eight o clock, she
found them deeply asleep in a contented, sun warmed bunch.
They had made an excellent fire, and had set the kettle on it at about half past five. So that by eight the
fire had been out for some time, the water had all boiled away, and the bottom was burned out of the
kettle. Also they had not thought of washing the crockery before they set the table.

So to the railway they went, and as soon as they started for the railway they saw where the garden had
hidden itself. It was right behind the stables, and it had a high wall all round.
Oh, never mind about the garden now! cried Peter. Mother told me this morning where it was. It ll

The way to the railway was all down hill over smooth, short turf with here and there furze bushes and
grey and yellow rocks sticking out like candied peel from the top of a cake.
The way ended in a steep run and a wooden fence and there was the railway with the shining metals
and the telegraph wires and posts and signals.
They all climbed on to the top of the fence, and then suddenly there was a rumbling sound that made
them look along the line to the right, where the dark mouth of a tunnel opened itself in the face of a
rocky cliff; next moment a train had rushed out of the tunnel with a shriek and a snort, and had slid
noisily past them. They felt the rush of its passing, and the pebbles on the line jumped and rattled
under it as it went by.

Where the Red Fern Grows

Where the Red Fern Grows tells about a man named Billy Colman, whose mind drifted away back on
his boyhood memories when he got his dogs. The young Billy was a boy who wanted two coon
hunting dogs of his own more than anything in the world. He worked very hard by selling wares and
saved money to pursue his dreams. After two years, he finally had enough money for two dogs. Billy
made a difficult journey to get his dogs. He loved his dogs very much and spent almost a whole time
to train his dogs. Eventhough there were many problems came to him and his dogs, they could passed

Second, in the book Little Ann was known to be smarter than Old Dan, but in the movie they looked
alike and had no difference from their appearance and characters. Third, the book tells about how
Billy caught the first coon to train his dogs, while the movie did not show such an action. The next
difference is the chapter 11 of the book tells about Little Ann who almost got drowned in the icy water
and Billy could save her owing to his old lantern, but we couldn t see it in the movie. Another
different thing is when Billy and The Pritchards boys, Rainie and Rubin, had a bet to tree the ghost
coon. The book mentions that they betted two dollars for it, but 5 dollars in the movie. It is said in the
book how Little Ann won the best looking hound contest, but the process didn t appear in the movie.
The last thing is in the book Billy got 4 coons, so he could win the contest, while in the movie it is
said that Billy didn t win the championship but he was given the title by Mr. Bellington, the one who
won the match. Both the novel and the movie have the strengths and weaknesses. In my opinion, it is
more clearly explained about the strong bonds between Billy and his dogs in the book than in the
movie. I can really understand how much Billy loved his dogs, and the expression of love was more in
the book than in the movie. The book gives more detailed information than the movie. However, I

Chivalry Knight Research Paper
The Chivalry Knight There are many disparities between William Thatcher and Count Adhemar. So, is
it because William protects the weak, becomes a Knight, or he jousts without armor in the last
tournament? What makes William the better knight than Count Adhemar? Remember that William is a
peasant at the beginning of the movie. Count Adhemar was already a noble, but William was born a
peasant and the ony way he could be a Peasant was to be born in to nobility. William protects Wat,
Roland, and the weak. How does he protect them? William protects his people and the weak by
pretending to be Sir Ector. The reason he pretends to be Sir Ector was because Sir Ector was a knight
and he died. William always dreamed of being a Knight. He had a flashback of him and his father
talking and he mentioned to his father about A man can change his stars. Wat and Roland had not
eaten in days, so that is when William decided, A man can change his stars. The meaning of this
phrase means a man can change his fate, faith, and destiny. While pretending to be a knight, he
practices for the jousting. William won the first joust. After winning joust after joust he was rewarded
with money. He gave the money to the poor and also he had some money left to feed Wat and Roland.

Spain
3 500 megawatts: for as long as Spain was the leader in the field of solar energy use in their capacity
of 2008 amounted to the equivalent of Al2605 megawatts, but abandoned this position in favor of
Germany, so the sharp decline in that year s event in 2009, where Spain is the time did not ride only

Good President Qualities
My paper is going to be on the qualities the president needs to be a good president. The president
needs to be focused at all times of the presidency, and he needs to have the knowledge when to be
honest and when not to be honest with the people. Also the president should have confidence in
themselves and their ideas. Honesty, focus and confidence is what I think a would make a good
president of the United States. A president needs to be focused on the tacks at hand the wars he needs
to be cautious of the warriors lives out there in the battlefield( Farrell para. 7). And the president needs

The Tragedy Of Queen Mary
In a country already unstable, the news of Queen Mary s actions during her reign shook the rickety
balance between chaos and peace. Thirty years after King Henry VIII broke away from the Catholic
Church, installed a new religion into English culture, and citizens lived in a country where
Catholicism was outlawed, the Marian Era began. The Marian Era lasted from 1553 1558, and will
forever be remembered as a dark and dangerous time. If one was asked who they knew from the
English monarchy during the 16th Century, many will answer Bloody Mary . Everyone knows about
the dreaded Queen Bloody Mary, but hardly anyone really knows why. Sparking the question: Why
was Queen Mary one of the most hated queens in English history? The lasting hate from Queen Mary
s reign was due in part by her attempts to revive Catholicism in a Protestant England, killing a mass of
English citizens, and her overall failures as a queen.
Much to the protest of many of England s Protestant citizens, one of Mary s main goals as queen was
to restore Catholicism as England s primary, and only, religion. Even though Kings Henry VIII and
Edward both outlawed Catholicism in England, Mary still practiced in secret. Thirty years prior, when
King Henry VIII renounced the Catholic Church, he created his own; therefore creating a brand new
religion: Protestantism. As a result, Catholicism was made illegal and considered heretics if found
attending Mass or accepting Communion (Royal Household 1). Mary s first

The Broken Window Model Of Wilson And Keiling
According to http://cebcp.org, Broken window model focuses on the importance of disorder (e.g.,
broken windows) in generating and sustaining more serious crime. Wilson and Kelling are the creator
of this model. They notice that neighborhoods who have high crime rate, consider of disreputable
people . They are the people who hang out on the corner, the mental ill who pace back and forth up
and down the streets, and those juvenile delinquents that love to pickpocket other people. Most of the
communities are low income minority communities that Wilson and Keiling looked at. Wilson and
Keiling does not think that poverty, racial segregation, and residential mobility and other social issues
is not the root causes to high crime rates, They think to restore order needs to be placed in these
community as Nixon will say Law and Order . They think the government cannot eliminate the root
causes. Policing should be enforce more into the community to create a safe haven for these
communities. By not focusing on social reform, rehabilitation is too costly and difficult. Wilson said
to increase cost of crime by increasing punishment in prison. It will help measure deterrence, and if it
does not work incapacitation. He also the believe that the root causes is caused by causal fallacy.
Wilson and Keiling believed that officers need to go back to the style of enforcement. They explain
that there should be more foot patrol have officers get know the resident while maintaining order.

completed the study due to laboratory abnormalities, mostly in the 8 mg/kg TCZ group, or the patients
relinquished consent due to lack of response, mainly within the placebo group.1
The study itself was a double blind, double dummy, 52 week study that took place at multiple
centers.1 There were four groups in this trial with a 1:1:1:1 distribution.1 These groups consisted of 4
mg/kg TCZ+MTX, 8 mg/kg TCZ+MTX, 8 mg/kg TCZ+placebo and 7.5 mg/week placebo+MTX, the
latter group was increased to 20 mg/week if the physician or patient felt it necessary.1 The American
College of Rheumatology scoring system, a Disease Activity score, and X rays were used to determine
progress to remission in the patients.1
They found that the 8 mg/kg dose of TCZ in combination with methotrexate and 8 mg/kg TCZ
conjugated with the placebo worked better for achieving patient remission than the methotrexate alone
(with placebo).1 It was also observed that the 8 mg/kg dosage of TCZ improved RA symptoms such
as the function and degradation of joints, indicating that its an overall better treatment option.1
However, there was a higher rate of withdrawal from the program from the patients taking the
combination of toceilizumab and methotrexate due to liver enzyme elevations or infection.1 They
observed that the 4 mg/kg group displayed a higher incidence of infection, heart attacks, cancer and
death than any of the

The Endocrine System And The Nervous System
The endocrine system and the nervous system are essential organ systems in the human body. Both of
the systems have a critical role of transmitting information as well as promoting regulated functions in
the body. The endocrine system is responsible for secreting hormones to regulate the body s organs
and cells. The nervous system is accountable for sending signals to other cells in the body to allow the
body to react such as making the muscles move (eNotes, 18 September 2012). An example of the
endocrine system would be the process of growth and development. An example of the nervous
system would be if one was to touch a hot stove, they would pull back their hand and the nerves in the
body would send pain signals to the brain. This essay will discuss the similarities and differences of
the endocrine system and the nervous system for healthcare providers. ... Show more content on

The endocrine system glands produce hormones in the body to allow the body to regulate many
functions such as sleeping, metabolism, reproduction, growth, development and it regulates the body s
behavior. The endocrine system has an impact on almost all of the organs in the human body
(Zimmermann, K.A., 11 March 2016).
The nervous system is made of two systems which consist of the central nervous system and the
peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system is composed of the brain, spinal cord, and the
nerves in the body. The peripheral nervous system is composed of nerves and a bundle of nerve cells
called ganglia, which is located on the outside of the spinal cord and the brain. The nervous system is
responsible for controlling and communicating with other parts in the body to maintain blood
pressure, breathing, and other essential functions to carry out an ordinary lifestyle (Zimmermann,

Tetanus is a life threatening but preventable disease that is characterized by an acute onset of painful
muscular contractions (usually in a descending pattern, starting with trismus or lockjaw) and
generalized rigidity.1 It is caused by the toxin of Clostridium tetani, a spore forming bacterium. The
spores can be found in soil, dust, and in human and animal feces, entering the body through breaks in
the skin and germinating under low oxygen conditions .1,2 The most successful intervention against
tetanus in history is its prevention by means of an effective vaccine which has led to a dramatic fall in
the incidence of tetanus.3
Tetanus occurs in all parts of the world most frequently in hot and wet climates where the soil contains
a lot of organic matter. Although rare in the United States (US), with an average of 29 reported cases
per year from 1996 through 2009, it has not been eradicated by vaccination programs.2 While early
diagnosis and intervention are lifesaving, prevention is the ultimate management strategy.4 According
to the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), nearly all cases of tetanus are among people who have

The Invention Of Harley Davidson Essay
In 1868, a man named Sylvester H. Roper invented the very first motorcycle. He lived in Roxbury,
Massachusetts. He came up with the idea of a twin cylinder steam velocipede with a cool fired broiler
between the wheels. When he came up with this idea, people thought that it was craziest idea someone
could come up. He went through with it anyways. His invention helped pave the way for motorcycles
today. Roper s inventions came to a screeching halt when he passed away demonstrating one of his
many inventions along with many other motorcycle inventors. Harley Davidson came about in 1903.
A lot of people were riding motorcycles instead of bicycles in 1902. He helped World War I by seeing
increased interests in communications and getting place to place. You rarely saw messengers on
horseback anymore at that time. When World War II happened, Harley Davidson s motorcycles
skyrocketed up to 100mph. The only type of motor he still uses is an air cooled v twin engine. Over
the years his bikes have changed and developed into much bigger and better bikes. He s one of the
many bike builders in the United States. Most people in the United States have Harleys or a different
make similar to the Harley. I don t personally care for Harleys or any other motorcycles besides a
sports bike. A sports bike or also called a crotch rocket. A crotch rocket isn t made for comfort and is
only built for speed. It wasn t made for comfort at all. The top ten motorcycle makes in the United

The Fruit And The Compute
The desert table is full with different fruit such as apples, raspberries, cherries, peaches, pears, and the
branches full with grapes hanging in the side. The artist uses the fruit colors as symbols to express the
type of life people used to live in that time such as love and happiness.
His work as the fruit and the Compute was one of the most recognized arts in the mid nineteenth
century. People buy this kind of art to decorate their houses and restaurants. When I saw the picture in
the first time, it looks very inquisitive to me. I start to think what s the meaning behind it? The picture
delivers a metaphor which it conveys a satisfying sense of wealth and abundance.
The composition is made from a basket of strawberries and arrangement

Similarities And Similarities Between Beowulf And Gilgamesh
British literature like Beowulf and Gilgamesh hold several characteristics that make this type of
literature unique. Each of theses stories hold similarities and difference that alter the course of the
main character. Both Beowulf and Gilgamesh took vast journeys in their ruling as leaders, but they
each took the journeys for different reasons. These two epic heroes of british literature both used the
up in coming benefits of christianity in their journeys expressed in the novels, yet the two characters
used the beliefs in different ways. Both of these men are viewed as having great amounts of power and
through analyzing it can be determined that the men use their powers to different extents. Gilgamesh
and Beowulf are two heros that have a number of similarities and differences in their epics.
One difference that lies in the two epic heroes is how christianity is perceived through the epics.
Gilgamesh and Beowulf both have biblical references in their quests, yet in Beowulf it can be seen
more clearly. During Beowulf s journey he specifically prayed to the Gods for guidance in the battles
with both Grendel and his mother. While in Gilgamesh the story contained a motif to Noah s Flood,
and this leads to shaping Gilgamesh into a greater king because it gives him a story to tell. Another
similarity in the epics in connection to christianity is they both use stories of the bible, Beowulf is seen
as a kenning to Cane in the biblical story of Cain and Abel. Gilgamesh used

Changing Fan Experiences
New technology is changing fans experiences at venues and stadiums all around the nation like never
before. Both the team s marketing department and venues are working together and using different
types of digital innovations to enhance and improve the on field player performance, fan experiences,
and stadium operations. Creating fan experiences and putting them in the center of the action is
becoming top priority and is a major catalyst for bringing fans back. Live sporting events are not just
about solely watching the game anymore; Fans are now expecting access to physical and digital
experiences tailored to their phone, kiosks, jumbotrons, and pretty much anywhere throughout the
stadium. Fans enjoy being able to share, interact, and stay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the transition between the top and bottom of the innings the video board would either display
pre recorded videos of plays during previous seasons or would capture current live feed from the
stands. Any time the camera was used to capture the crowd a promotion would be happening on the
screen, switching the content back and fourth. This time would require fans to get up and get loud to
receive a prize. Music was always associated while the video board was being used and it was
interesting on the genre of music they decided to play over the speakers. Baseball is filled with music
being played as a hitter walks to the plate or a closer comes out of the bullpen...They have nothing to
do with the game beyond the intent to pump up the players and, perhaps, the fans (Caple, 2013). The
choice of music that was being used to increase the fan enthusiasm through out the game was old
rock; songs included: Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith, Heartland by U2, Born in the USA by Bruce
Springsteen. The music chose is vital to the audience, it can stir memories of past games and produce
an intense feeling of pride for the current game no matter how bad your team is playing, you will at
least sing along, stomp your foot or fist pump. The

John Charles Lutwidge Dodgson s The Looking Glass
Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, best known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, has written many
novels, poems, and short stories in his lifetime but his most famous for his children s ?nonsense?
novels: Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and the sequel Through the Looking Glass. His works,
especially the two mentioned, have influenced countless readers over the years, and references to his
writings can be found in every type of media from the song ?White Rabbit? by Jefferson Airplane to
the the Matrix trilogy. While both books are intended for a child s entertainment, they are full of
symbolism and hidden critique. His clever wordplay, use of logic and reasoning, and incredible
imagination are all trademarks of his style of writing, which is often referred to as ?literary nonsense.?
To readers with little experience with Carroll s work, this term seems to perfectly describe Carroll s
confusing and often rambling style, but when more thoroughly inspected, it becomes obvious that this
?nonsense? has a far deeper meaning. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland is about a young girl, Alice,
who gets bored doing her multiplication tables one day and follows a white rabbit into a hole. Through
this hole, she ends up falling into Wonderland, a place where there are potions and foods that can
change the drinker s size, a tea party thrown by a Mad Hatter and a March Hare, and a Caucus race
that everybody wins. As Alice journeys through Wonderland she meets stranger and stranger, or,

Introduction Conducting an interview within a human resource department is part of the
prequalification process used to sift through a myriad of applicants. Different modes of interviews are
present and have been used for various reasons. This investigation delves into an analysis of the

and the detriments of utilizing management assessment centers during a selection process. Structured
Situational Interviews vs. Nondirective Interviews The first similarity between structured situational

These assessment centers allow employees and recruits to feel an aura of investigation or probe into
their personal and professional lives as a prerequisite for employment or promotion. Thus, an
assessment center acts as a professional environment. Secondly, a management assessment center is
used to help candidates find their strengths and weaknesses due to the rigorous training exercises
involved at the center (Appelbaum, Harel, Shapiro, 2006). Candidates can then work on their
weaknesses to turn them into strength while reinforcing their strong areas. Also, an assessment center
can be used by the management to assist a candidate to improve on performance. The training
exercises carried out at the assessment centers are aimed at assisting candidates to become more
efficient in discharging a given mandate by increasing in areas that they are strong and eliminating
points of weaknesses (Appelbaum, Harel, Shapiro, 2006). Furthermore, a management assessment
center is more valid to the extent that the candidate is judged by a panel rather than an

  • 2. The Juche Ideology of North Korea Essay Ideology can be looked at different perspectives of the way people think about it. Some people think that ideology is bad, while some people think it is good. Ideology takes a very harmful way in Christianity; Pope Francis explains to Christians that ideology drives away the church and the people. In his perspective of mind, ideology is a serious illness. (Dolan) In some other places such as North Korea, ideology is a dangerous belief system. North Koreans Ideology is most commonly referred as Juche, this ideology is harmful to people because most people would like to praise people who do good things, but in North Korea people have to pray to a dictator who is capable of killing, torturing, and murdering his own people. Before Dictatorship North Korea was an independent nation, it was a colony full of Christians. Kim Il Sung noticed how Christians worshipped the Japanese ruler who ruled Korea. When North Korea declared as a country, Kim Il Sung changed the form of Christianity and he declared himself as a God so that North Korea will always praise and pray him. Christians revolted against this, so Kim Il Sung annihilated most of them because he did not want his own people suspecting him of Juche and put lots of people in concentration camps and they still reside there. (Juche Religion) Juche originated from Marxism Leninism. Marxism Leninism was created by Karl Marx, some of the main points in this ideology are that a communist party should be able to perform and play major roles in society. Some other beliefs in Marxism Leninism are that modern capitalism should turn into imperialism. (Piskunov) North Korea gained inspiration from Marxism Leninism, which is why this ideology is one of the main ideologies that Juche originated. Some other ideologies that Juche originated were Confucianism. Confucianism was developed in China by a man named Kong Qiu (Confucius). Kong Qiu travelled across the country to spread his teachings, but at that time his beliefs was not popular and some of his beliefs were how to do the right things in life. He ... Practical Networking in the Modern Business Environment Practical Networking in the Modern Business Environment Table of Contents Task 1 Task 2 Task 3 Task 4 Conclusion Introduction Networking architecture is vital in the organisation of any business firm in today s globalised world. RFID, Cloud Computing, Intranet Network Architecture and Digital Rights Management (DRM) are major fields of endeavour that require the resources of companies. Increasingly, all aspects of an organisation are linked via the Internet and various other technologies in ways of connectivity that we did not even imagine before. Task 1 Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been a vital part of the Wal Mart Corporation s growth. At the beginning of the 1990s, Wal Mart trailed K Mart which at that time could negotiate lower wholesale prices due to its huge size. Part of Sam Walton s strategy for catching up was to set up a point of sale system. Such a system is a computerized network that identifies each item that is sold, locates the price in a computerized database. After this, the system creates an accurate customer sales receipt and stores item by item sales information for use in analysis of sales and reordering inventory. The strategic use of this helps Wal Mart avoid overstocking issues by learning what merchandise items are slow sellers. This has made Wal Mart s inventory and distribution system a world leader. For example, in 5 year period, Wal Mart invested somewhere above $600 million IT Wal mart: attaining competitive, 1999) . ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effects Of Soda On High School Vending Machines... You may be familiar with recent regulation, which was initiated for the 2014 15 school year, where the United States Department of Agriculture enforced regulatory guidelines on food items sold in schools across the nation. Although there was previously a nutritional requirement for food in school, as Marion Nestle, a Professor of Nutrition at New York University, points out in her very influential article of the time, this requirement [did] not apply to foods sold outside of school cafeterias in snack bars, school stores, or vending machines (Nestle 308). Many proponents of the recent regulation are astonished that such regulation was not in place from the beginning. Unfortunately, this action was influenced by an ever rising concern for the obesity rate in the US population, and not a desire to proactively encourage a healthy lifestyle. The history of soda in high school vending machines carries with it heavy economic interest, a plethora of lobbying and some imperative details, which we may find useful in our consideration of diet soda. Coca Cola and PepsiCo are the two major companies that compete in the soft drink arena. By the late 1990s these companies were already well established in high school vending machines, but the competitive market required quite a bit more action (Nestle 310). In fact the companies began to, as Nestle claims, view school children as an attractive marketing opportunity, and use every possible means to promote their products to this young, ... • 5. Working Animals In The Call Of The Wild Today, many people own dogs as pets; however, in Jack London s book, The Call of the Wild, dogs are working animals. To humans, dogs are only servants. Two reasons for this are that humans don t care about dogs feelings and that humans don t care if their dogs are in pain. One reason that humans use dogs only as servants is that they don t care about dogs feelings. For example, Manuel doesn t care that he is betraying Buck. London writes, ...Manuel doubled a piece of stout rope around Buck s neck under the collar (London 1 2). This shows that Manuel doesn t care what happens to Buck after he betrays him, and he only cares about getting his money. Furthermore, Perrault and Francois don t care that Buck worked hard to earn the lead position. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Siemens Development Strategy Siemens AG: Global Development Strategy What were the major causes of the problems with the NetManager project? (I m not looking for a list of points made in the case; I m looking for you to step back to a higher level and analyze why these problems occurred.) The problems experienced by the NetManager project appear to be symptoms of integration vs. responsiveness issue within Siemens AG. As a transnational company, Siemens faces strong pressure to globally integrate its operations, and be responsive to the needs of their offices and customer s needs. The main problem with NetManager was that it had mushroomed in size and strategic importance. This was the result of keeping up with the rapidly changing technological demands, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The case also traces back their erroneous assumptions to a lack of communication between German managers and Indian developers due to extended vacations with no alternative outlet for which to seek necessary support. Munich headquarters had been too removed from the realities and operations of the Bangalore office, and failed to provide the adequate support needed to build NetManager. This translates to an issue of global integration. What should Siemens do next regarding the Net Manager project? Having outlined a lack of support from Munich headquarters as a reason for NetManager s shortcomings, Siemens should keep project development in Bangalore. Rather than shifting development to Europe, which would result in tremendous transaction costs, Siemens should shift the necessary resources for completion to Bangalore. First, they should send the necessary executive knowledge, meaning German executives with the in depth knowledge of EWSD systems. This would overcome interdependency issues, and guarantee greater quality at each step of the development process. Next, they should make the proper investments in infrastructure and systems hardware. The Bangalore RDC should be as up to date as possible, so as to avoid the prior testbed problem, and so that their office may be as equipped as possible to adapt to changing technological trends. In the short term, this results in a completed NetManager program that meets the needs and standards of their largest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Refugee Challenges There are many challenges that refugees face fleeing home, finding home, and moving to a new country altogether. Some refugees have been abused in their own country, and some have been persecuted. Others have lost their country because of war. Refugees have no choice but to flee and find home and this turns them inside out and back again. In Inside out and back and again Ha experienced many of the challenges that refugees face. Some of the challenges that she faced were adapting to a new life in the US, making friends, and finding home, these challenges that Ha faced also reflect on the universal refugee experience. People from all over the world face traumatizing experiences that cause them to leave their home countries. War, famine, natural disasters, persecution, and discrimination are just a few of the reasons people flee. For example, in the excerpt from Children of War, the author states, the war in the Balkans has caused grievous suffering for millions of people (Brice). Inside Out and Back Again represents that universal experience as well when Ha states, people run and scream Communists! (Lai 68) which refers to how the war has led the Communists to take over Ha s home of Saigon. Clearly Ha is experiencing what refugees all over the world experience when they have to flee their home countries because of war. All refugees face many challenges when fleeing home. If one was to come to a straightforward conclusion, it will be that as a doctor you will not sign his medical report form stating his medical fitness to drive. Many people shame on you for identifying yourself with one certain culture when you come from a mixed background. There are millions of people that live here in the US but are of Mexican descent. Being a Mexican American can be difficult because of all the stereotypes and discrimination, but also carries a sense of pride. Many times people look at a person and assume they are a specific race. Newsflash people! Mexican Americans can all come in different types of coloring. There are the typical stereotypical remarks like, You need to be brown to be Mexican, and if you are darker skinned then they assume you come from Mexico and are illegal. If a light skinned Mexican goes to Mexico then they think you are gringos or American, so basically neither side will accept you for what you truly are. People just need to accept that there are light and dark skinned people in every ethnicity. If you are a light Mexican, people judge you for it since you fooled them. As we all know, for many companies, the most important tax decision to make is whether to elect to be treated under the provisions of sub chapter S of the Internal Revenue Code, or not. This decision mainly depends on your company s situation, and on analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of choosing to be treated as an S Corporation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The excess of loss can be carried back to prior years, or forward to later years. If the S corporation did not distribute income to shareholders, the shareholders would still be responsible to pay taxes on the income, according to their shares in the corporation. Also, an S corporation also has no corporate alternative minimum tax (AMT) liability, and they are subject to an accumulated earnings tax that applies to corporations that do not distribute their earnings, but it might affect the shareholders individual AMT liability. In an S corporation, shareholders receive a step up (or step down) in the basis of their stock, based on the earnings they obtain each year, which reduces the shareholder s tax liability when the shares are sold. The step up in basis helps reduce the net income subject to capital gain tax; when the shareholder receives distributed income that was taxed previously to him/her, the stock basis should be reduced. Also, any time the corporation suffers a net operating loss, the shareholder must reduce the basis of their stock to reflect the amount of loss passed through to them for their individual tax return. There are three recognized stages, with children moving from the first stage (primary) to the second stage (secondary) at around the age of 11. The third (tertiary) stage is further education at university or college. British children start compulsory education at the age of five. Very young children, ususally 3 or 4 years old go to nursery school. Nursery edcuation is voluntary. Some of the changes that have taken place in British education reflect the wider social process of increased egalitarianism. Before 1965 most children had to take an exam (=the eleven plus exam) at about the age of eleven, at the end of their primary schooling. If they passed this exam, they went to a grammar school where they were taught academic subjects to prepare them for university ; if they failed, they went to a secondary modern school, where they teach practical, job related subjects, and pupils learn skills like hairdressing or travel and tourism. Many people argued that it was wrong for a person s future life to be decided at so young an age. The children who went to secondary moderns tended to be seen as failures . • 19. Science Fiction And Cultural Values Science Fiction and Cultural Values Introduction Science fiction is a genre of creative writing which has stories that are connected with the future of technology and science. This style of writing is often seen in graphic novels, fiction novels, television series, and in film. Some common portrayals of science fiction include time and space travel. At times, these stories feature life that is found on other planets apart from Earth. The tales are usually based on new technologies, different social systems and scientific discoveries. Science fiction may seem to be a fantasy because the technologies involved sometimes look unrealistic. However, that fantasy becomes a reality when it changes how people view their daily lives. History of science fiction Philosophical stories and texts from centuries ago have some imagery that relates back to science fiction. The stories imply that, even then, they predicted advances in science in future years to come. Religious poems and stories that talk about the creation or demolition of the universe have some elements that are like the elements of Science fiction. The powers used by science fiction can be associated with those of the gods during and before biblical times. An example of an old philosophical text which can be associated with science fiction is Plato s The Republic . The book uses the struggle to contain and exterminate the filoviruses to convey these three ideas. It treats the filoviruses as a predator, and the humans as the prey. It enforces this idea over and over again by using animalistic qualities to describe the humans and the filoviruses, giving them both the same amount of consciousness and personality. There are many different things we can use instead of testing on animals and killing them like for example we can use human cells or we can use dead humans but the person being researched on has to know and be okay with it just like a donor. Most of the test that are tested on are for cosmetic testing, toxicology testing, drug testing, biomedical research, and also for educational reasons. We are planning to implement it utilizing three factor authentication scheme combines a one time secret key plan for customer validation (one time password), biometric password and secure flash card (smart card). Our fundamental design contemplations were security, execution, convenience, accessibility, and scale. Biometric scan can be implemented using smart card. The created secure flash card has tamper resistant module, which contains client validation data and security keys, thus the system is highly secure. The point of interest of this methodology is that the client s biometric information is not imparted to remote server. At the same time the inconvenience is that the remote server must trust the smart card to perform legitimate confirmation which prompts different vulnerabilities. A nonspecific and secure system is proposed to overhaul two factor authentication to three component authentication. The transformation not just altogether enhances the data confirmation requiring little to no effort additionally secures customer protection in disseminated frameworks. Yes, it is a proven fact that blacks who live out of the ghetto live a better life than those who live in it; all children who grow up in poverty do not always end up poor. This is true because there are many men and women who have survived poverty and achieved success, such as Ophra Winfrey. The Negro Family: The Case for National Action report by Daniel Moynihan persuades readers to think that blacks are living in poverty are all not able to achieve a good life. He says that if black men were to all have jobs then black families would stay out of poverty. This is false because a family s income is not determined by just the man. A black woman can have a higher paying job and support the family financially. The report points that single parent women are not able to raise children in the ghetto because of the environment and statistics of the past. Single, black mothers and fathers can raise their child to be intelligent and successful without being in a high end part of town. These statistics are not accurate for everyone in the black community. There is a saying in the African American culture that we want more than a hand out, but a hand up! They did find that weight gain occurs in patients receiving the glucocorticoid, but it had a direct correlation with the DAS28 score, displaying improvement in the disease in people with increased body mass index, which was determined using a longitudinal regression analysis.2 These researchers concluded that glucocorticoids had a disease modifying effect in RA patients displaying early RA and that the adverse events that were previously reported were overemphasized.2 Another study, Toceilizumab in early progressive rheumatoid arthritis: FUNCTION, a randomised controlled trial, has studied the effects of toceilizumab, an Interleukin 6 inhibitor, thus reducing inflammation. • 41. The Endocrine System And The Nervous System The endocrine system and the nervous system are essential organ systems in the human body. Both of the systems have a critical role of transmitting information as well as promoting regulated functions in the body. The endocrine system is responsible for secreting hormones to regulate the body s organs and cells. The nervous system is accountable for sending signals to other cells in the body to allow the body to react such as making the muscles move (eNotes, 18 September 2012). An example of the endocrine system would be the process of growth and development. An example of the nervous system would be if one was to touch a hot stove, they would pull back their hand and the nerves in the body would send pain signals to the brain. Dire, MD, FACEP, FAAP, FAAEM Clinical Professor, Departments of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics, University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio 2 Tetanus is a life threatening but preventable disease that is characterized by an acute onset of painful muscular contractions (usually in a descending pattern, starting with trismus or lockjaw) and generalized rigidity.1 It is caused by the toxin of Clostridium tetani, a spore forming bacterium. The spores can be found in soil, dust, and in human and animal feces, entering the body through breaks in the skin and germinating under low oxygen conditions .1,2 The most successful intervention against tetanus in history is its prevention by means of an effective vaccine which has led to a dramatic fall in the incidence of tetanus.3 Tetanus occurs in all parts of the world most frequently in hot and wet climates where the soil contains a lot of organic matter. Although rare in the United States (US), with an average of 29 reported cases per year from 1996 through 2009, it has not been eradicated by vaccination programs.2 While early diagnosis and intervention are lifesaving, prevention is the ultimate management strategy.4 According to the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), nearly all cases of tetanus are among people who have never ... He came up with the idea of a twin cylinder steam velocipede with a cool fired broiler between the wheels. Roper s inventions came to a screeching halt when he passed away demonstrating one of his many inventions along with many other motorcycle inventors. Harley Davidson came about in 1903. A lot of people were riding motorcycles instead of bicycles in 1902. He helped World War I by seeing increased interests in communications and getting place to place. You rarely saw messengers on horseback anymore at that time. When World War II happened, Harley Davidson s motorcycles skyrocketed up to 100mph. The only type of motor he still uses is an air cooled v twin engine. Over the years his bikes have changed and developed into much bigger and better bikes. Each of theses stories hold similarities and difference that alter the course of the main character. Both Beowulf and Gilgamesh took vast journeys in their ruling as leaders, but they each took the journeys for different reasons. These two epic heroes of british literature both used the up in coming benefits of christianity in their journeys expressed in the novels, yet the two characters used the beliefs in different ways. Both of these men are viewed as having great amounts of power and through analyzing it can be determined that the men use their powers to different extents. Gilgamesh and Beowulf are two heros that have a number of similarities and differences in their epics. One difference that lies in the two epic heroes is how christianity is perceived through the epics. Gilgamesh and Beowulf both have biblical references in their quests, yet in Beowulf it can be seen more clearly. During Beowulf s journey he specifically prayed to the Gods for guidance in the battles with both Grendel and his mother. While in Gilgamesh the story contained a motif to Noah s Flood, and this leads to shaping Gilgamesh into a greater king because it gives him a story to tell. Another similarity in the epics in connection to christianity is they both use stories of the bible, Beowulf is seen as a kenning to Cane in the biblical story of Cain and Abel. Gilgamesh used ... His works, especially the two mentioned, have influenced countless readers over the years, and references to his writings can be found in every type of media from the song ?White Rabbit? by Jefferson Airplane to the the Matrix trilogy. While both books are intended for a child s entertainment, they are full of symbolism and hidden critique. His clever wordplay, use of logic and reasoning, and incredible imagination are all trademarks of his style of writing, which is often referred to as ?literary nonsense.? To readers with little experience with Carroll s work, this term seems to perfectly describe Carroll s confusing and often rambling style, but when more thoroughly inspected, it becomes obvious that this ?nonsense? has a far deeper meaning. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland is about a young girl, Alice, who gets bored doing her multiplication tables one day and follows a white rabbit into a hole. Through this hole, she ends up falling into Wonderland, a place where there are potions and foods that can change the drinker s size, a tea party thrown by a Mad Hatter and a March Hare, and a Caucus race that everybody wins.
