Welch Mission Statement
Critical Analysis:
In order for corporations to be categorized winning corporations, there must be a set foundation that
allows the corporation and the agents inside it, to move as a cohesive unit towards one mission. A
clear mission is important because it is the base of the creation of a strategic plan in obtaining the
results desired by the corporation. It is much easier to map out the plan towards a clear, concrete, and
descriptive mission statement than one that can be misinterpreted by the employees making the calls
within the corporation. But for a company s mission and values to truly work together as a winning
proposition, they have to be mutually reinforcing (Welch 21). When the goal is not clear, it is hard to
set the values―how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Welch claims that anyone brought into the corporation should have the first two E s, the ones which
are characteristics of a candidate s personality, energy and energize. When energy is talked about, it is
the inner power of someone looking to do greater things, they are motivated and ready to work, while
energize is the capability to make people feel pumped up and ready to tackle a task and stay on
routine. These two qualities everyone in the corporation should have as well as intelligence (different
than education), maturity, and integrity. Choosing a manager can be tricky but there are more traits
that are needed in order to be a winning manager; the ability to foresight, authenticity, seeking the
smartest people to associate around, and resilience. An effective manager is extremely important
because they are the people who emphasize on the mission and make the goals a reality through their

Intergalactic Background Checks
Why we will never accept Intergalactic Background Checks
It never fails, whenever there is a serious crisis involving guns, the Socialist Left wastes no time in
trotting out their favourite hobby horse of Background Checks Intergalactic and otherwise.
So why do they obsess over this issue that won t solve the problem anyway? Why is this so important
to them and a danger to our civil rights? This will be an examination of the underlying elements of this
issue and why gun owners will never accept government control over their private property.
The debate over the 1st and 2nd amendments and the rest of the Constitution is really about who
maintains the constraints on the government. If the people hold these controls, the government ...

The best they can offer is the much abused commerce clause and even that falls short given that refers
to commerce between the states, not between neighbours and friends.
This is a very important, but rarely discussed issue that goes to the central tenets of liberty.
Our civil rights are based upon the control of private property. In fact one could argue that it s not
even private property if it s under government edict. While some would like to cite the adage that
possession is nine tenths of the law the reality is that ownership is vested in the entity that controls an
item s storage, use and transference. If the government controls those parameters it is the true owner
of that property with the people being it s temporary possessors.
There are those desirous of control who want people to think that firearms as somehow different than
other items of property, simply because those items are a constraint over governmental power. While
lorries and other motorised vehicles can be deadly, they don t serve as a constraint on tyranny so they
are no concern of the Left. The plain fact is that firearms aren t any different than other types of
property. As it is with the government, the slippery slope will see them try to control other types of
property if it can get people to accept it with firearms.

Comparing and Contrasting Clinton and Connerly s Speeches...
Comparing and Contrasting Clinton and Connerly s Speeches on Affirmative Action Bill Clinton was
the 42nd President of the United States. Elected in 1992 and again in 1996, Clinton served as
President until January of 2001, when George W. Bush became the 43rd President. Ward Connerly is
the founder and chairman of the American Civil Rights Institute. He has gained national attention as
an outspoken advocate of equal opportunity for all Americans, regardless of race, sex, or ethnic
background. In this paper, I will discuss the position of these two politicians from affirmative action, I
will highlight how each of them thinks about affirmative action, whether he sees it beneficial or
harmful to the American society, and how he argues to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He blamed this divisiveness on those who believe that skin color and gender should entitle certain
groups of people to some benefits while denying them from other for no reason but racial preferences:
Do we not believe it was divisive when those from an earlier period said slavery was immoral? Was it
not divisive when our nation s people fought among themselves over this very issue? Was it not
divisive when we sent troops into Montgomery and Selma, Alabama to protect the rights of people
like Rosa Parks and James Meredith to ensure their right to sit wherever they wanted on a bus and to
attend a college that wasn t segregated?
Yes, those were divisive times. But the seeds of division are not planted by those of us who seek to
eliminate racial and ethnic preferences; they are planted by those who believe that our skin color and
gender and how we spell our last names should entitle us to the harvest of diversity ― college
admission, government employment, and contracts. (Connerly 5)
Clinton began to give many examples of discrimination practices that used to happen as early as
1960s. He explained how blacks was denied attending segregated schools and universities, how the
streets in black neighborhood weren t paved, and how the restrooms were marked WHITE and
COLORED even in courthouse squares. Most of the powerful positions and even decent jobs were
limited to white men:

Silence Of The Lambs Suspense
Silence or Suspense
Suspense is a state or condition of mental uncertainty or excitement, as in waiting a decision or
outcome. makes the viewers feel this way, because of the different tactics used to make the movie
suspenseful. The three main ways an editor can make a movie suspenseful is by using score, camera
shots, and setting. The Silence of the Lambs is a movie that has scenes showing different camera
angles, that make the viewers sit on the edge of their seats.
The score used in The Silence of the Lambs was calming , loud, and creepy music. The calming music
was only played when Hannibal was in the scene. Hannibal was a killer the FBI caught and he is kept
in a special asylum. We the viewers, know that Hannibal s heart rate never rises whenever he kills, so
when Hannibal is murdering someone, calming music is being played. Agent Starling is a rookie
trying to get her Licenses for Behavioral Science. Starling is put on the case of catching Buffalo Bill.
Starling uses Hannibal to get information about how to catch Bill. Anytime Starling is talking to
Hannibal there is calming music playing, but any other time Starling is going after Bill, the score is

Closeups is a common shot used in the movie on Bill and Hannibal. We can vividly see how ugly Bill
is and how smart Hannibal looks by the way he carries himself. There is one Fly Through used in the
movie and it is of Bills basement. The camera starts in the room with all the moths and goes through
his office room, where he dresses up, and where he keeps his victims. This shot gives the viewers a
good idea of where Bill does all his work. Another camera shot is the Point of View shot. We see this
shot several times through Bill s night vision goggles. An example is when Starling is in Bill s

Essay On Standing Tall
The book, Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story (Published in 2008) written by Sam Carchidi is
about a former NFL player overcoming a seemingly irreversible injury during his professional career.
I selected this book because it reminds me of the days when I played football in high school and how
fortunate I was to be able to walk away from the sport with no severe injuries. I constantly read about
the freak accidents in football that either left an athlete with a lifelong injury or sometimes even death.
This book stood out to me because it is about a player who went against the odds and was able to
somewhat recover from what seemed like an injury that would have left him disabled for the rest of
his life. The book begins conversation about how Kevin Everett was entering his third year as a tight
end and special team s player for the Buffalo Bills organization with a promising future ahead of him.
This was all about to change in the season opening game for Keven against the Denver Broncos.
During the opening game Kevin was making special teams tackle after a punt to put the Broncos far
back into their own territory, but that tackle was about to change Kevin s life. After taking down the
opposing player Kevin was left in the ground motionless and not responding. Kevin was carted off the
field and taken to one of the nearest hospitals. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

about someone who defeats adversity. This book has defiantly impacted me in the aspect that Kevin

Essay about Back Bay Battery
SIMULATION FOREGROUND READING
Back Bay Battery, Inc.
Overview
The battery industry is enormous, with worldwide revenues of approximately $45 billion. It is highly
fragmented with at least 20 major manufacturers in each technology segment. Because of the wide
range of applications of batteries, companies have tended to specialize in a particular technology or
market application. Disposable batteries, such as the widely available carbon zinc and alkaline cells,
are available in standard sizes such as AA, C, and D, and they are a fast moving consumer good
category with emphasis on manufacturing efficiency and scale, marketing and branding, and
distribution efficiency.
One of the earliest forms of rechargeable battery was the wet ... Show more content on

Interestingly, battery makers have tended to focus in relatively narrow product segments and
technologies. Disposable battery makers have typically not become major players in rechargeables,
and rechargeable battery manufacturers tended to stick with a particular technology or product focus

Back Bay Battery, Inc., in 2012
Back Bay Battery is one of over 20 major manufacturers of NiMH batteries. The field is crowded, but
manufacturers have been riding rising a tide of demand from consumers for portable electrically
powered devices.
Though the technology is relatively mature, the company is anticipating continuing strong volume
growth rates, primarily due to rapid consumer adoption. The worldwide market is projected to grow at
9.0%. Pricing pressure is significant, though, as more East Asian competitors continue to drive
commoditization of NiMH cells. Back Bay s sales manager has learned to track the market pricing
closely, as being out of step with the market can cause dramatic market share changes in a relatively
short time.
Li ion batteries have pretty much replaced NiMH in the market for laptop computer batteries.
The first commercial Li ion battery was produced by Sony in 1991. Li ion batteries are favored for
mobile devices because they can store a high density of energy for a given weight. They can be
fabricated in many shapes,

Analysis Of The Book The Big Blind
It was a fairly quiet evening in The Black. The place was a sleazy little dive that catered to spacers,
merchants and smugglers but aside from the odd rowdy drunk it wasn t a place that saw much action.
People came to The Black for a quiet corner to do some business or to get themselves well and truly
drunk where no one would roll them. The only thing going tonight was a group of spacers playing
some Terran card game. A burly Krogan with gold engraving on his crest was riffling the cards and
chattering as he had been all evening.

The Imagery of Bloodshed in The Oresteia Essay
The Imagery of Bloodshed in The Oresteia
In the prologue of Agamemnon, the first play of Aeschylus trilogy, The
Oresteia, the watchman implores the gods for a blessed end to all our
pain. (20). He is asking for deliverance from the retributive system of
justice, where the only certainty is that bloodshed breeds more bloodshed.
The old men of the chorus in their opening chant, Hymn to Zeus, declare
that suffering must be experienced before man can be released from this
ceaseless irredeemable bloodshed and thus be, free from all the pain. (1)
They declare that it is a law laid down by Zeus that we must suffer,

At the beginning of the
play, the chorus describes the blood that was shed by Agamemnon in Troy,
where he was driven to avenge Priam s theft of Helen. Here, Agamemnon acted
true to revenge, [like] a stabbing Fury, (65) plunging his sword into a
mother/ bursting with unborn young the babies spilling, / quick spurts of
blood [and] cut off the race just dashing into life! (107) He is a bloody
lion that lapped its fill, gorging on the blood of kings. (812 13) Not
only did his need for vengeance cause bloodshed in Troy, it also resulted
in his sacrifice of his daughter. The chorus describes how Agamemnon
performed this act in order to appease Artemis for [she] must have blood.
(201) if the fleets are to be able to sail to Troy. The chorus relates
the older warlord saying, Obey, obey, or a heavy doom will crush me! / Oh
but doom will crush me/ once I rend my child/ the glory of my house / a
father s hand s are stained,/ blood of a young girl streaks the altar./
Pain both ways and what is worse?/ Desert the fleets, fail the alliance?/
No, but stop the winds with a virgin s blood,/ feed their lust, their
fury? feed their fury! Law is law! (205 16)
To Agamemnon, the
consequences that would arise out of not fulfilling the vendetta and
destroying Troy outweigh those which would result from the sacrifice of his
daughter. He

The Effects Of Media On Body Dissatisfaction Of Young...
The media is an important aspect of the current society and is ever present to the public. With the
creation of new technology, there are more and more ways the media can be received and displayed
for people to see everywhere they go. There are so many media sights nowadays such as Instagram,
Twitter, and Facebook, as well as new magazines, commercials and other media publications made
every day that allow people to connect to current events and new trends. Although today s media has
the potential to have a positive or negative impact on the lives of the people, there have been many
controversial debates on the impact of the media on the body dissatisfaction of young girls and
adolescents. Body dissatisfaction can be described as the negative self evaluation of one s own
appearance and to be more physically attractive, and is fairly common in young girls and adolescents.
Approximately one hundred studies of media effects on body dissatisfaction have been conducted with
the majority of these showing at least some evidence, (Ferguson, Munoz, Contreras, Velasquez). Many
psychological experts and specialists have explored the effect of the media on developing female girls
and adolescent body image to conclude whether it has a significant or insignificant impact on the body
image of female adolescents and young girls. In the current media, women are idealized as skinny,
airbrushed, and flawless. The media has been harshly criticized for creating and perpetuating a cultural

between sexual identity and gender partners and their level of sexual risk and reproductive outcomes

The final sample was composed of 6879.56 girls from grade 8 to 12 (Riskind, Tornello, Younger
Patterson, 2011, p. 1958). From this final sample, approximately 2386 surveys were missing data
about partner gender and sexual identity, so they excluded those girls from the analyses on a pairwise
basis (Riskind, Tornello, Younger Patterson, 2011, p. 1958). The authors with the results were able to
confirm their first hypothesis and rejected their second hypothesis (Riskind, Tornello, Younger
Patterson, 2011, p. 1959 1960). First of all, results show that people with heterosexual or lesbian
sexual identity were older than people who considered themselves as bisexual (Riskind, Tornello,
Younger Patterson, 2011, p. 1960). Another finding was that the majority of heterosexual girls
answered that they only experienced sexual exchanges with male partner while lesbian (40%) and
bisexual (58%) reported that they had sexual intercourse with both genders (Riskind, Tornello,
Younger Patterson, 2011, 1960). However, 68 % of girls who reported sexual intercourse with only
females answered and labeled themselves as heterosexual (Riskind, Tornello, Younger Patterson,

The Death Comes By Charles Wyville Thomson, Commander Of...
Death comes easily. Death comes with diseases spread by people living in close quarters. Death comes
with a lack of nutrients from insufficient food. Death comes with a misstep that leads to a plunge into
rough, frigid ocean waters. These statements are especially true on board a ship at sea during the time
prior to the 20th century. When people know that death is very likely in a certain situation but still
agree to participate in the situation anyway, they posses a characteristic known as courage. Two
examples of courageous men are Zheng He and Charles Wyville Thomson, commanders of very
different ocean voyages, and both of these men led their respective crew members towards death with
the hopes of conquering or exploring new lands. Zheng He, a worker for the emperor of the Ming
Dynasty of China, commanded a giant fleet including 27,000 Chinese soldiers and sailed as far as the
Arabian peninsula and the eastern coast of Africa in seven different voyages, starting in 1405 (Dreyer
1). Charles Wyville Thomson, a scientist from Britain, commanded a voyage aboard the HMS
Challenger with less than 250 crew members (Bishop). In his voyage, departing in December of 1872
and returning in May of 1876, Thomson traveled to Antarctica, the Caribbean, South Africa, Hawaii,
and South America (Dreyer xiii). Zheng He s and Charles Wyville Thomson s voyages differed in

The American Dream of Home Ownership Essay
America is seen as the land of opportunity in that there are endless possibilities for an individual. In
this land of opportunity, Americans strive to obtain the ideal known as the American dream. The
American Dream is seen as the accomplishment of an ambition achieved while challenged by
adversity.1 Americans often associate this success with the ownership of a home. The home is not
simply a place of basic protection; there is a much deeper connection to the individual. Ownership of a
home grants freedom and security that establishes a sense permanency for the individual. In contrast,
renting a living space possesses a semblance of instability and dependence.2 The desire to improve

Many veterans returned to young families anticipating the opportunity to buy a home. The lack of
home production during the Great Depression and war created a severe housing crisis. 5
Levitt and Sons is considered one of the most successful developers who confronted the housing crisis
after World War II. Originally, Levitt and Sons was a private developer who specialized in higher
income housing. Levitt and Sons quickly realized that there was in high demand for inexpensive
homes.6 In response, they quickly began work on developments targeting the young GI s and their
families. Levitt and Sons needed to find building solutions that would suit the taste of their buyers,
would be cost efficient thus resulting in an inexpensive price, and could be produced rapidly and in
high yield. To solve this challenge Levitt and Sons designed a single level, four room home based on
the traditional American Cape Cod style.7 This simple design was modified to form four basic designs
that were to be replicated. To produce the homes as quickly as possible Levitt and Sons based their
construction strategy on the automobile assembly line of Henry Ford. Instead of moving the parts
down an assembly line, Levitt and Sons move the labor along the product line.8 This method, along
with the incorporation of off the shelf products, allowed for the rapid production of homes. The money
and time saved on production and design allowed homes to sell at a lower price. These small homes

The Importance Of Light
Francis Bacon once said, In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present. This
shows that you truly cannot have or see a good thing without also knowing what bad looks like. There
are billions of people in this world, the best and brightest people are those people who have overcome
that darkness. Those people know what darkness is and have experienced it first hand, therefore they
shine so much brighter. These people who have seen darkness and who shine so bright because of it
are a guide for those who may be waiting in the darkness. Like a lighthouse does for ships at night or
like the stars and moon do for travelers. Without darkness, there would be no need for guidance or
change. There would be no point in having stars, lighthouses, or unique bright people.
Take the life of Jesus for example, this man was born in a manger surrounded by dirty animals. He
never sinned a day in his life, yet he constantly received hate from those around them. People hated
him so much that they hung him upon a cross, which is one of the most excoriatingly painful ways to
die. He had nails driven into his hands and feet, a crown made of thorns forced down onto his head,
and he had to hang there for hours as he slowly suffocated. This man knew darkness better than
anyone, yet he is still a light or lighthouse for all people. John 1:5 states, The light shines in the
darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. John 8:12 it says, When Jesus spoke again to the

Describe The Importance Of Road Safety Inspections
Road Safety Inspections
Road safety inspections are important. The material explicitly describes the importance of safety
inspections. Without road inspections, the streets and highways would be a chaos for commuters
(Ward, Otto Linkenbach, 2014). Just imagined if the overgrown shrubs and trees hid the traffic road
signs and directional signs pointing in the wrong way. This would be a recipe for disaster. Additional
lives would be at risk by this potential roadway hazards. Identifying potential roadway hazards timely
may reduce the mortality rate (Ward, Otto Linkenbach, 2014).
The Office of Traffic Safety and other similar agencies are working diligently to develop a remedial
measure to save drivers lives (DOT, 2011). To alleviate the road hazards in Minnesota, the road safety
inspector conducts routine safety inspections. The safety inspector examines the highways,
construction signs, bridges, and obstructions that may block the motorists view (DOT, 2011). The
State of Minnesota is vulnerable to various potential hazards. These hazards are associated with man
made and natural disasters that threatens the loss of life and property.
Inspector Role
An inspection is a critical element that detects and responds to potential hazards. For example, the
inspector ensures that the road signs are visible both day and night. In Minnesota, public safety
department encourages the citizens to report any potential road hazards like potholes and damaged
road signs.

Misrepresentation and Domination of Woman in Strindberg s Miss Julie This paper examines
misrepresentation and domination of women in August Strindberg s play Miss Julie. In this play
Strindberg presents his misogynist attitude by presenting Julie as a degenerated man hating half
woman that indicates he holds a firmly conservative position regarding the role of women in society
that makes one s superiority over another. Julie s free thinking and sexually aggressive behavior
positions her in the new women category that raises the feminist voice against patriarchy. And the fact
that these actions lead towards her destruction clearly indicates Strindberg s opposition to liberal
feminism. Despite of all rebellious activities of Julie she becomes the victim of male domination.
Feminism is a complaint against patriarchy that refuses the cultural definition of women which
attempts to fix women s identity within the male dominated canon. It breaks the social bondage of
patriarchy. Feminists believe that masculine and feminine roles are constructed by society. As
Simmone de Beauvoir states one is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Transformation In A Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol was first published in London on the 19th of December 1843, the
novella was instantly popular and still is to this day. Dickens inspiration for the short story seems to
come from his childhood experiences and his sympathy for the poor. In the story a miserable old man,
Ebenezer Scrooge, is shown the error of his ways and what will come of it if he doesn t make drastic
changes. Various ghosts and spirits slowly transform him into a kinder more pleasant man. A
Christmas Carol is a powerful novella that uses symbolism like the children Ignorance and Want,
Scrooge s transformation, and Scrooges nephew Fred, to reinforce significant themes like social
isolation, rebirth, and family. Dickens wanted to show the theme of rebirth through Scrooges
transformation. Scrooge is changed from a humpy old man to a kinder nicer man, each stave
represents a step in the transformation process. In stave one, two men come into Scrooge s shop and
ask for a donation to help poor people in need, Scrooge gives them no money and asks why these
people are not in prisons or Union workhouses (Dickens 7). He feels by paying his taxes he has done
enough to help the poor. Scrooge goes on to say If they rather die...they had better do it and decrease
the surplus population (Dickens 7). But in stave 3, Scrooge sees that Tiny Tim, a young innocent boy,
will pass away in the future. Scrooge begs the second of the three spirits to spare his life, but the spirit

The Leadership Of The Organizational Leadership
The organizational leadership drivers have been historically and predominantly filled with male
leaders. Determined factors, however fictitious, in writing, as well as perceived by organizational
Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), shareholders, Owners, and
employees, female leaders were viewed through the stereotypical categories that included limitations.
Moreover, gender discriminating society professes the positions for men and women would not be
compensated equally. Correlating differences in gender leadership is not as fictional as it may appear.
The discovery of a biochemical distinction between the genders may bring some credibility to the
historical insights. While men do have higher levels of testosterone and women have higher levels of
oxytocin, men and women behaviors are directly affected in speaking up and in connectedness
(Moskowitz, 2015). Merit to these perceptions may be in question. Even though women have been
exceedingly surpassing males in scholastic academics, researchers persistently dispute the differences
in leadership abilities and capabilities. The majority of investigators believe the important differences
in genders leadership are derived from the differences in power, status, and additional influences
related to the gender over the educational level. Mindful that gender discrimination has extensively
occurred which resulted in men being linked to leadership traits; this has implied men have greater

things is filming, otherwise known as film in general. Throughout the world, there are people who
direct films to often give a story that captivates us. In these films, we not only see what the Director
sees in his eyes, but we also see life in its finest detail. Capturing the life that moves around us is an
art and when we fully take the advantage of remembering our past, not only will we be able to
encounter the days of our past, but we will be able to look towards the future as well.
When we look at the films that countless of Directors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study of sociology has to do with the society as a whole, while the study of psychology has to do
with the human behavior. In film, we look at the psychological reading of characters. In many films
where the setting takes place in a hospital or a dark house, we usually see characters with abnormal
features that often frighten people. Edward Scissor Hands is a good example. Although the story of
Scissor Hands was well written and well established, the concept of the character left a horrifying
remark. In many cases, the way a character is developed often leads to a specific genre being picked.
The way we look into the human behavior of a character can differ from each person. Sometimes you
will have one person view the characters development on how they changed, while another will
simply look at how the character is portrayed throughout the film. Either way, both methods are
correct in looking into the human behavior of one specific character. Using this type of analysis can be
an advantage as in international cinema, we are privy to experiencing and learning about many
different characters that are often introduced

Pro Drunk Driving
In the United States drink driving accounts for one third of all of our driving deaths. Drunk driving has
taken 10,076 people in the year 2013 alone and it will continue to rise as we remain the way we are.
One person every 53 minutes dies from a drunk driving related incident, drink driving is an epidemic
that can be stopped by getting someone else to drive for the impaired person. However, the more
people that are drinking and driving on our roads the more dangerous they are for the rest of us.
The sound of a siren, the red flashing lights and a person in uniform knocking at your driver side
window. An officer has pulled you over for suspicious driving. (Beveraly) The US averages 900,000
arrests due to DWI and DUI, and one third of those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The solution to this problem seems far away and unreachable with our current society that remains
drunk with their love of alcohol and claims they are lucid enough to operate a motor vehicle with
some kind of skill. Ending drinking and driving are nearly impossible but we can stave off the effects
by lessening those who do it. Creating a society of those who do not drink and drive would lead to an
increase of wealth and governmental prosperity to a certain extent. Drunk driving negatively effects
everyone no matter the circumstances and should not be

Aquinas Five Ways Essay
In Five Ways, written by Thomas Aquinas, the philosopher is argues that there is a god .He gives five
well rounded arguments to support his claim, as well as introducing rebuttals to possible objections of
his theory. He begins with his first argument that concludes the existence of god which focuses on the
force of motion. Aquinas goes on to explain that if something in motion was caused by something else
then that something else must have come from something which he identifies as nothing else . This
claim, that change must come from something and this line of change can not be infinite supports his
claim of a higher being or god for there must always be a reason for change. The second argument
being causation shows that because everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
god. The fifth and final argument argues that because we give things with no purpose or lack of
knowledge a purpose, there is a god for there must have been a thing which directed a being with the
intelligence to utilize a thing with none and this direction being given by god. Aquinas then ends his
claim with a rebuttal to his previous objections he list in the beginning of the article. Here he uses a
more direct approach of supporting his claim. The argument of why is there evil if there is a god? , is
shot down by the philosopher in a romantic way. Aquinas goes on to rebuttal that god in fact does not
allow evil and all evil will eventually produce good simply because god does not allow evil. He
finishes the article with a last rebuttal of the causation of nature. He claims that because the causation
for this is unreachable it must be traced back to god. Aquinas structures his arguments using the
socratic method, giving broad claims that many would support forcing them to then except his
conclusions for his five arguments for if you were to disagree then you would then be contradicting

What Is A Bad Idea To Legalize Drugs
What can be considered by far the most terrible evil, exciting an increasing number of very young
people who cannot in consequence of the normal full life? Evil, which first brings joy, then life turns
into a nightmare? Evil that breaks the health and life of the person obeyed it, all his family and
friends? Evil, which spreads very quickly, while hitting not only the body but also the soul of person?
Some people want to earn money from this evil, others are trying to escape from reality, and others are

Drug addiction, as emphasized by the experts of the World Health Organization, is the biggest threat
to health worldwide.
Drugs known to people for thousands of years. They are consumed by people of different cultures and
different purposes: during religious ceremonies, to recuperate, to change the consciousness, to relieve
pain and discomfort. Already in preliterate period, we have evidence that people knew and used
psychoactive chemical substances: alcohol and plants, the consumption of which affects the mind.
Until the early 20th century there were virtually no restrictions on the production and consumption of
drugs. Interestingly, many new or well forgotten old drugs were first utilized in the United States, and
then they spread in other countries, so that America is as it set the tone in the international drug use.
Why, despite all the horrors, which results in the consumption of psychoactive substances, people, and
especially young people, continue to do so? Stimulants allow a young man to escape from reality, not
satisfied with his world in new and unusual experiences and sensations that were not previously
available to it.
Entering into adolescence, the young man is faced with a huge number of previously unknown to him
the problems. New knowledge required teenager, do not lie in the field of thought and understanding,

An Article About Child Pageants
A Wiehe Analysis
In the Lexington Herald Leader Vernon R. Wiehe wrote an article about child pageants. He is a
reliable source when it comes to the subject of child psychology because he is a professor from the
College of Social Works University in Kentucky. In this article the author argues that child pageants
are not age appropriate, and would harm the child s wellbeing. Wiehe gives many reason as to why
these pageants are wrong by refuting common arguments that people would give to justify the
pageants.
When addressing the topic of beauty pageants, he starts by describing the TV show Toddlers and
Tiaras. He gives the websites description then gives his own description of the show for instance he
quotes from toddlers and tiaras website On any given weekend, on stages across the country little and
boys parade around wearing makeup, false eyelashes... this paints the show in a more positive light
however Wiehe describes the show as a feeble attempt at Las Vegas glamour and glitz (Wiehe). By
doing this he is comparing and contracting his ideas of child pageants and the way the show describes
how these pageants are run. He exposes the pageants in a negative light so that it can connect with his
points creating a better flow in the article, and making it more comprehendible.
Wiehe appeals to parents by playing on some parents worst fears, for instances he mentions that
children get sexualized because they are wearing clothes that are not age appropriate, and that

Globalization Essay
The implications of globalization are greatly felt in every part of the world. One of its effects is
encouraging the movement of financial capital, trade, and direct and foreign investments. This refers
to the economic exchange of goods and services internationally and international financial flows.
(Carr and Chen, 2001). Through the perspective of an optimistic globalist, trade has brought an
increase in the volume of trade, whereas, pessimistic globalist suggests that globalization on the world
economy has made the world less diverse and homogenous. ( Textbook). Under these two major
themes, there are four major concepts that will guide in understanding how globalization and
economics relates; stretched social relations, intensification ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With the increase of trades, more goods and services crossing national borders and spreading its
influence abroad. For instance, Macdonald is a huge franchise that many investors have invest in
developed and developing countries. It is an American brand that is now a household name in Europe,
North East Asia, South East Asia, and of which shows how far globalization has spread. FDIs can also
help to create more jobs for by investing in more companies and further increase more investments
flowing in. As FDIs is one of the key instrumental in affecting the economy, globalization can help to
further facilitate the movement of it which supports the argument of the optimistic globalist.
Secondly, the other positive effect of globalization on the world economy is how it may equalize
wealth distribution. After the 2000s financial crisis, there was a slow and weak economic growth.
Those in the higher income was able to suffer losses while those who were in the middle to lower
income were struggling which suggest the widening in income gap. However, the idea of globalization
in the eyes of the optimistic is that the increased volume of trade, the access to advancement in
technology across the world and stretched communication internationally can help to improve the
situation. As the world gets more interconnected, the intensification of goods and services moving
across nations increases. This would suggest that there is an increase in trade which will

A Brief Note On The Largest Foodservices Provider
Aramark is amongst the largest foodservices provider in the world, with a headquarters based in
Philadelphia, PA. The corporation was grown primarily through mergers and acquisitions and
compiled of a variety of lines of businesses, such as facilities, sports and entertainment and business
dining. It boasts clientele from NBA, NFL and NHL. Similar to it s competitors Sodexo and Compass
Group (Hoovers), Aramark relies upon three parts of it s value chain: human capital outsourcing,
uniforms and food. These moving parts are the main drivers of the business and are all supported by
comprehensive enterprise scaled software. For the past year, I have been working in Aramark as a

Company s Position on the Pillars of Analytics The first pillar of analytics is when analytics supports a
strategic, distinctive capability (Davenport). Over 20 lines of businesses are housed underneath
Aramark s umbrella and each line is given a tool that specifically caters to their function. For example,
the finance department within Aramark relies upon the use of the Oracle database to store important
data such as sales and expenses. Out of its three competitors, what sets Aramark apart is its focus on
the bottom line. From a high level point of view, finance can assess where gaps are happening within
the organization and help manage the growing expense line. Next, the second step is that the approach
and management of analytics has become enterprise wide (Davenport). Before marching to Wall Street
with an IPO in 2013 (Reuters), Aramark invested in a tool called QlikView, which is a dashboard tool
that helps users perform their own data discovery. After making waves within the organization,
QlikView has been used by virtually every line of business within Aramark. It has the ability to pull
from multiple data sets within the company s data warehouse and display it on an application for the
use of its enterprise audience. In addition, other tools have been introduced to the forefront because of
the newly founded benefits of QlikView. The third pillar is when senior management demonstrates its

Hamlet Revenge Vs Revenge Essay
No trait is more justified than revenge in the right time and place (Meir Kahane). In the play Hamlet
by William Shakespeare revenge is a prominent theme throughout. Revenge causes various characters
to act blindly through their anger and emotion, rather than through reason. The desires of Hamlet,
Laertes and Young Fortinbras each exhibit how the overall theme of Hamlet revolves around revenge.
Hamlet must get revenge on Claudius for killing his father. Laertes must avenge his father and sister
by demanding retribution on Hamlet. Young Fortinbras rescues his fathers long lost nobility by
gaining territory. Each character losing their fathers are determined all through the play by this
yearning and requirement for revenge.
The theme of revenge is prevalent very early in the play; the play starts off with Hamlet father being
killed by his Uncle Claudius. Hamlet unknowingly who killed his father is introduced with ... Show

This is Hamlets perfect chance to get revenge on Claudius for killing his father. Now might I do it pat.
Now he is a praying. And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven. And so am I revenged. That would

Childhood Bulimia Nervosa
Background: Eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating are life threatening
conditions that affect a person s emotional and physical health. Anorexia nervosa is the intense fear of
gaining weight and having an abnormally low body weight. Individuals restrict the amount of food
they consume. Bulimia Nervosa is eating large amounts of food and getting rid of the extra calories by
force vomiting or misusing laxatives. Abuse during childhood has long been hypothesized to be a risk
factor for the development of eating disorders (Harlow, Rayworth, and Wise, 2004). The purpose of
this study was to assess the association between childhood violence, victimization, and eating
disorders.

Fallacies Of The Body Of Work Essay
The body of work, Logical Fallacies Handlist: Arguments to Avoid when Writing, explains that
fallacies are statements that may sound logical, but contains information that makes it illogical.
Fallacies, when detected, can depict the writer as an individual that lacks intelligence or the ability to
be honest, which is why it is important to avoid this when composing an argument. Having the
capacity to identify them in others arguments is equally as important, as it allows the reader to identify
when the arguer attempts to mislead them. Fallacies of relevance do not, logically, relate to the
argument, but does so emotionally or psychologically. For instance, Argumentum ad Baculum, also
known as the appeal to force, uses force, or threats of force by the writer, to persuade the reader to
side with them. Also, genetic fallacies are similar to argumentum ad hominem and base its claim on
the idea that the premise is correct due to its origin. Although analogous to genetic fallacies,
argumentum ad hominem diverts the discussion of an argument by criticizing or praising the
individual that is making the case. Argumentum ad hominem is fallacious in that the debater s
character does not validate or negate an argument. Used by numerous propagandist and advertisers,
argumentum ad populum uses emotionally charged language to provoke strong emotions and persuade
the audience to accept the conclusion. Furthermore, argumentum ad populum uses three different
approaches. Bandwagon, which

The Effects Of Media On Young Children
Observational Learning the Young Child
Luciana D. Lavilaire
Florida International University
Prof. Marie Daurel P. 1
Abstract This paper intends to bring awareness to the harmful effects of the media on young children.
Through this paper, I will investigate the claim that television promotes observational learning. I will
describe the obscenities the media exposes to children. With that, I will explain how the media causes
aggression in consumers, especially those of youth. This paper will also expound on the powerful
effect modeling has on behavior. I will provide extensive examples of the impact of the media using
multiple sources.
Observational Learning the Young Child Observational learning can be best defined as learning that
occurs through observing the behavior of others. It occurs from observing, retaining, and reproducing
a behavior observed from a model. In order for observational learning to occur, the observer must
regard an action, memorize what was observed, be able to replicate the behavior, and be motivated to
yield the particular behavior. According to Introduction to Psychology: Gateways to Mind and
Behavior, by observing a model, a person may learn a new response, learn to carry out or avoid
previously learned responses, or learn a general rule that can be applied to various situations (Coon
Mitterer, p. 231). Observational learning can teach completely new behaviors or can affect the
frequency of previously learned

  • 2. Welch Mission Statement Critical Analysis: In order for corporations to be categorized winning corporations, there must be a set foundation that allows the corporation and the agents inside it, to move as a cohesive unit towards one mission. A clear mission is important because it is the base of the creation of a strategic plan in obtaining the results desired by the corporation. It is much easier to map out the plan towards a clear, concrete, and descriptive mission statement than one that can be misinterpreted by the employees making the calls within the corporation. But for a company s mission and values to truly work together as a winning proposition, they have to be mutually reinforcing (Welch 21). When the goal is not clear, it is hard to set the values―how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Welch claims that anyone brought into the corporation should have the first two E s, the ones which are characteristics of a candidate s personality, energy and energize. When energy is talked about, it is the inner power of someone looking to do greater things, they are motivated and ready to work, while energize is the capability to make people feel pumped up and ready to tackle a task and stay on routine. These two qualities everyone in the corporation should have as well as intelligence (different than education), maturity, and integrity. Choosing a manager can be tricky but there are more traits that are needed in order to be a winning manager; the ability to foresight, authenticity, seeking the smartest people to associate around, and resilience. An effective manager is extremely important because they are the people who emphasize on the mission and make the goals a reality through their management of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Intergalactic Background Checks Why we will never accept Intergalactic Background Checks It never fails, whenever there is a serious crisis involving guns, the Socialist Left wastes no time in trotting out their favourite hobby horse of Background Checks Intergalactic and otherwise. So why do they obsess over this issue that won t solve the problem anyway? Why is this so important to them and a danger to our civil rights? This will be an examination of the underlying elements of this issue and why gun owners will never accept government control over their private property. The debate over the 1st and 2nd amendments and the rest of the Constitution is really about who maintains the constraints on the government. If the people hold these controls, the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The best they can offer is the much abused commerce clause and even that falls short given that refers to commerce between the states, not between neighbours and friends. This is a very important, but rarely discussed issue that goes to the central tenets of liberty. Our civil rights are based upon the control of private property. In fact one could argue that it s not even private property if it s under government edict. While some would like to cite the adage that possession is nine tenths of the law the reality is that ownership is vested in the entity that controls an item s storage, use and transference. If the government controls those parameters it is the true owner of that property with the people being it s temporary possessors. There are those desirous of control who want people to think that firearms as somehow different than other items of property, simply because those items are a constraint over governmental power. While lorries and other motorised vehicles can be deadly, they don t serve as a constraint on tyranny so they are no concern of the Left. The plain fact is that firearms aren t any different than other types of property. As it is with the government, the slippery slope will see them try to control other types of property if it can get people to accept it with firearms. Stepping stone to registration and Confiscation We also won t accept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparing and Contrasting Clinton and Connerly s Speeches... Comparing and Contrasting Clinton and Connerly s Speeches on Affirmative Action Bill Clinton was the 42nd President of the United States. Elected in 1992 and again in 1996, Clinton served as President until January of 2001, when George W. Bush became the 43rd President. Ward Connerly is the founder and chairman of the American Civil Rights Institute. He has gained national attention as an outspoken advocate of equal opportunity for all Americans, regardless of race, sex, or ethnic background. In this paper, I will discuss the position of these two politicians from affirmative action, I will highlight how each of them thinks about affirmative action, whether he sees it beneficial or harmful to the American society, and how he argues to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He blamed this divisiveness on those who believe that skin color and gender should entitle certain groups of people to some benefits while denying them from other for no reason but racial preferences: Do we not believe it was divisive when those from an earlier period said slavery was immoral? Was it not divisive when our nation s people fought among themselves over this very issue? Was it not divisive when we sent troops into Montgomery and Selma, Alabama to protect the rights of people like Rosa Parks and James Meredith to ensure their right to sit wherever they wanted on a bus and to attend a college that wasn t segregated? Yes, those were divisive times. But the seeds of division are not planted by those of us who seek to eliminate racial and ethnic preferences; they are planted by those who believe that our skin color and gender and how we spell our last names should entitle us to the harvest of diversity ― college admission, government employment, and contracts. (Connerly 5) Clinton began to give many examples of discrimination practices that used to happen as early as 1960s. He explained how blacks was denied attending segregated schools and universities, how the streets in black neighborhood weren t paved, and how the restrooms were marked WHITE and COLORED even in courthouse squares. Most of the powerful positions and even decent jobs were limited to white men: Thirty years ago in this city, you didn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Silence Of The Lambs Suspense Silence or Suspense Suspense is a state or condition of mental uncertainty or excitement, as in waiting a decision or outcome. makes the viewers feel this way, because of the different tactics used to make the movie suspenseful. The three main ways an editor can make a movie suspenseful is by using score, camera shots, and setting. The Silence of the Lambs is a movie that has scenes showing different camera angles, that make the viewers sit on the edge of their seats. The score used in The Silence of the Lambs was calming , loud, and creepy music. The calming music was only played when Hannibal was in the scene. Hannibal was a killer the FBI caught and he is kept in a special asylum. We the viewers, know that Hannibal s heart rate never rises whenever he kills, so when Hannibal is murdering someone, calming music is being played. Agent Starling is a rookie trying to get her Licenses for Behavioral Science. Starling is put on the case of catching Buffalo Bill. Starling uses Hannibal to get information about how to catch Bill. • 6. Essay On Standing Tall The book, Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story (Published in 2008) written by Sam Carchidi is about a former NFL player overcoming a seemingly irreversible injury during his professional career. I selected this book because it reminds me of the days when I played football in high school and how fortunate I was to be able to walk away from the sport with no severe injuries. I constantly read about the freak accidents in football that either left an athlete with a lifelong injury or sometimes even death. This book stood out to me because it is about a player who went against the odds and was able to somewhat recover from what seemed like an injury that would have left him disabled for the rest of his life. The book begins conversation about how Kevin Everett was entering his third year as a tight end and special team s player for the Buffalo Bills organization with a promising future ahead of him. This was all about to change in the season opening game for Keven against the Denver Broncos. During the opening game Kevin was making special teams tackle after a punt to put the Broncos far back into their own territory, but that tackle was about to change Kevin s life. After taking down the opposing player Kevin was left in the ground motionless and not responding. Kevin was carted off the field and taken to one of the nearest hospitals. After ... • 7. Essay about Back Bay Battery SIMULATION FOREGROUND READING Back Bay Battery, Inc. Overview The battery industry is enormous, with worldwide revenues of approximately $45 billion. It is highly fragmented with at least 20 major manufacturers in each technology segment. Because of the wide range of applications of batteries, companies have tended to specialize in a particular technology or market application. Disposable batteries, such as the widely available carbon zinc and alkaline cells, are available in standard sizes such as AA, C, and D, and they are a fast moving consumer good category with emphasis on manufacturing efficiency and scale, marketing and branding, and distribution efficiency. One of the earliest forms of rechargeable battery was the wet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interestingly, battery makers have tended to focus in relatively narrow product segments and technologies. Disposable battery makers have typically not become major players in rechargeables, and rechargeable battery manufacturers tended to stick with a particular technology or product focus (laptop computers, mobile phones, portable power tools, etc.) Back Bay Battery, Inc., in 2012 Back Bay Battery is one of over 20 major manufacturers of NiMH batteries. The field is crowded, but manufacturers have been riding rising a tide of demand from consumers for portable electrically powered devices. Though the technology is relatively mature, the company is anticipating continuing strong volume growth rates, primarily due to rapid consumer adoption. The worldwide market is projected to grow at 9.0%. Pricing pressure is significant, though, as more East Asian competitors continue to drive commoditization of NiMH cells. Back Bay s sales manager has learned to track the market pricing closely, as being out of step with the market can cause dramatic market share changes in a relatively short time. Li ion batteries have pretty much replaced NiMH in the market for laptop computer batteries. The first commercial Li ion battery was produced by Sony in 1991. Li ion batteries are favored for mobile devices because they can store a high density of energy for a given weight. They can be fabricated in many shapes, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analysis Of The Book The Big Blind It was a fairly quiet evening in The Black. The place was a sleazy little dive that catered to spacers, merchants and smugglers but aside from the odd rowdy drunk it wasn t a place that saw much action. People came to The Black for a quiet corner to do some business or to get themselves well and truly drunk where no one would roll them. The only thing going tonight was a group of spacers playing some Terran card game. A burly Krogan with gold engraving on his crest was riffling the cards and chattering as he had been all evening. Not until one of them brushed against him and he spun. The Vorcha spun as well, and the two of them glared at one another for a long moment before the barbaric vermin backed down. Sniffing, Tahlyn watched him go, glaring after the creature. If that Vorcha tried that nonsense with Bronn he d be picking fangs out of his trachea. You have my payment? The Batarian had an odd sibilance to his voice, and as he cleared his throat Tahlyn noticed the thick pucker of scar tissue that ran in a crescent around his throat. It looked like someone had tried to carve his head off and then gotten bored halfway. You have the package? Tahlyn replied, one hand slipping into his pocket. His right hand fell to the Elkoss Shuriken holstered at his side. Before the Batarian could reply, there was a commotion. Here! She is here! One of the Vorcha crooned, and the two Salarians produced bulky pistols and advanced. Artemis Chase, your debts are past due. Do you have the credits to pay them? The Imagery of Bloodshed in The Oresteia Essay The Imagery of Bloodshed in The Oresteia In the prologue of Agamemnon, the first play of Aeschylus trilogy, The Oresteia, the watchman implores the gods for a blessed end to all our pain. (20). He is asking for deliverance from the retributive system of justice, where the only certainty is that bloodshed breeds more bloodshed. The old men of the chorus in their opening chant, Hymn to Zeus, declare that suffering must be experienced before man can be released from this ceaseless irredeemable bloodshed and thus be, free from all the pain. • 11. The Effects Of Media On Body Dissatisfaction Of Young... The media is an important aspect of the current society and is ever present to the public. With the creation of new technology, there are more and more ways the media can be received and displayed for people to see everywhere they go. There are so many media sights nowadays such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, as well as new magazines, commercials and other media publications made every day that allow people to connect to current events and new trends. Although today s media has the potential to have a positive or negative impact on the lives of the people, there have been many controversial debates on the impact of the media on the body dissatisfaction of young girls and adolescents. Body dissatisfaction can be described as the negative self evaluation of one s own appearance and to be more physically attractive, and is fairly common in young girls and adolescents. Approximately one hundred studies of media effects on body dissatisfaction have been conducted with the majority of these showing at least some evidence, (Ferguson, Munoz, Contreras, Velasquez). Many psychological experts and specialists have explored the effect of the media on developing female girls and adolescent body image to conclude whether it has a significant or insignificant impact on the body image of female adolescents and young girls. • 13. The Death Comes By Charles Wyville Thomson, Commander Of... Death comes easily. Death comes with diseases spread by people living in close quarters. Death comes with a lack of nutrients from insufficient food. Death comes with a misstep that leads to a plunge into rough, frigid ocean waters. These statements are especially true on board a ship at sea during the time prior to the 20th century. When people know that death is very likely in a certain situation but still agree to participate in the situation anyway, they posses a characteristic known as courage. Two examples of courageous men are Zheng He and Charles Wyville Thomson, commanders of very different ocean voyages, and both of these men led their respective crew members towards death with the hopes of conquering or exploring new lands. Zheng He, a worker for the emperor of the Ming Dynasty of China, commanded a giant fleet including 27,000 Chinese soldiers and sailed as far as the Arabian peninsula and the eastern coast of Africa in seven different voyages, starting in 1405 (Dreyer 1). Charles Wyville Thomson, a scientist from Britain, commanded a voyage aboard the HMS Challenger with less than 250 crew members (Bishop). In his voyage, departing in December of 1872 and returning in May of 1876, Thomson traveled to Antarctica, the Caribbean, South Africa, Hawaii, and South America (Dreyer xiii). The home is not simply a place of basic protection; there is a much deeper connection to the individual. Many veterans returned to young families anticipating the opportunity to buy a home. The lack of home production during the Great Depression and war created a severe housing crisis. 5 Levitt and Sons is considered one of the most successful developers who confronted the housing crisis after World War II. Originally, Levitt and Sons was a private developer who specialized in higher income housing. Levitt and Sons quickly realized that there was in high demand for inexpensive homes.6 In response, they quickly began work on developments targeting the young GI s and their families. Levitt and Sons needed to find building solutions that would suit the taste of their buyers, would be cost efficient thus resulting in an inexpensive price, and could be produced rapidly and in high yield. To solve this challenge Levitt and Sons designed a single level, four room home based on the traditional American Cape Cod style.7 This simple design was modified to form four basic designs that were to be replicated. To produce the homes as quickly as possible Levitt and Sons based their construction strategy on the automobile assembly line of Henry Ford. Instead of moving the parts down an assembly line, Levitt and Sons move the labor along the product line.8 This method, along with the incorporation of off the shelf products, allowed for the rapid production of homes. The money and time saved on production and design allowed homes to sell at a lower price. These small homes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Importance Of Light Francis Bacon once said, In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present. This shows that you truly cannot have or see a good thing without also knowing what bad looks like. There are billions of people in this world, the best and brightest people are those people who have overcome that darkness. Those people know what darkness is and have experienced it first hand, therefore they shine so much brighter. These people who have seen darkness and who shine so bright because of it are a guide for those who may be waiting in the darkness. Like a lighthouse does for ships at night or like the stars and moon do for travelers. Without darkness, there would be no need for guidance or change. There would be no point in having stars, lighthouses, or unique bright people. Take the life of Jesus for example, this man was born in a manger surrounded by dirty animals. He never sinned a day in his life, yet he constantly received hate from those around them. People hated him so much that they hung him upon a cross, which is one of the most excoriatingly painful ways to die. He had nails driven into his hands and feet, a crown made of thorns forced down onto his head, and he had to hang there for hours as he slowly suffocated. This man knew darkness better than anyone, yet he is still a light or lighthouse for all people. John 1:5 states, The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. Without road inspections, the streets and highways would be a chaos for commuters (Ward, Otto Linkenbach, 2014). Just imagined if the overgrown shrubs and trees hid the traffic road signs and directional signs pointing in the wrong way. This would be a recipe for disaster. Additional lives would be at risk by this potential roadway hazards. Identifying potential roadway hazards timely may reduce the mortality rate (Ward, Otto Linkenbach, 2014). The Office of Traffic Safety and other similar agencies are working diligently to develop a remedial measure to save drivers lives (DOT, 2011). To alleviate the road hazards in Minnesota, the road safety inspector conducts routine safety inspections. The safety inspector examines the highways, construction signs, bridges, and obstructions that may block the motorists view (DOT, 2011). The State of Minnesota is vulnerable to various potential hazards. These hazards are associated with man made and natural disasters that threatens the loss of life and property. In this play Strindberg presents his misogynist attitude by presenting Julie as a degenerated man hating half woman that indicates he holds a firmly conservative position regarding the role of women in society that makes one s superiority over another. Julie s free thinking and sexually aggressive behavior positions her in the new women category that raises the feminist voice against patriarchy. And the fact that these actions lead towards her destruction clearly indicates Strindberg s opposition to liberal feminism. Despite of all rebellious activities of Julie she becomes the victim of male domination. Feminism is a complaint against patriarchy that refuses the cultural definition of women which attempts to fix women s identity within the male dominated canon. • 19. Transformation In A Christmas Carol Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol was first published in London on the 19th of December 1843, the novella was instantly popular and still is to this day. Dickens inspiration for the short story seems to come from his childhood experiences and his sympathy for the poor. In the story a miserable old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, is shown the error of his ways and what will come of it if he doesn t make drastic changes. Various ghosts and spirits slowly transform him into a kinder more pleasant man. A Christmas Carol is a powerful novella that uses symbolism like the children Ignorance and Want, Scrooge s transformation, and Scrooges nephew Fred, to reinforce significant themes like social isolation, rebirth, and family. Dickens wanted to show the theme of rebirth through Scrooges transformation. Scrooge is changed from a humpy old man to a kinder nicer man, each stave represents a step in the transformation process. In stave one, two men come into Scrooge s shop and ask for a donation to help poor people in need, Scrooge gives them no money and asks why these people are not in prisons or Union workhouses (Dickens 7). He feels by paying his taxes he has done enough to help the poor. Scrooge goes on to say If they rather die...they had better do it and decrease the surplus population (Dickens 7). Merit to these perceptions may be in question. Although the story of Scissor Hands was well written and well established, the concept of the character left a horrifying remark. In many cases, the way a character is developed often leads to a specific genre being picked. The way we look into the human behavior of a character can differ from each person. The argument of why is there evil if there is a god? , is shot down by the philosopher in a romantic way. Aquinas goes on to rebuttal that god in fact does not allow evil and all evil will eventually produce good simply because god does not allow evil. He finishes the article with a last rebuttal of the causation of nature. He claims that because the causation for this is unreachable it must be traced back to god. Abuse during childhood has long been hypothesized to be a risk factor for the development of eating disorders (Harlow, Rayworth, and Wise, 2004). The purpose of this study was to assess the association between childhood violence, victimization, and eating disorders. Methods: A broad search strategy, covering several ... In the article above Rayworth and others (Rayworth, et al (2004)), the researchers conducted a case control study from Harvard Study of Moods and Cycles. Women between the age of 36 and 44 in the years of 1995 through 1997 were sampled. The women returned questionnaires providing information on their menstrual characteristics, current depressive symptoms, and history of major depression. Most studies focus only on sexual abuse without analyzing physical abuse. This study concluded that sexual abuse without physical abuse was not associated with eating disorders. Women with histories of anorexia or bulimia and those who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition, reported some childhood abuse. Sexual abuse without physical abuse was not associated with eating disorders, whereas physical abuse without sexual abuse was still associated with a 2 fold increased risk of eating disorders. The joint effect of both physical and sexual abuse resulted in a 3 fold increased risk of eating disorder symptoms and a nearly 4 fold increased risk of eating disorders that met DSM IV criteria. • 34. Fallacies Of The Body Of Work Essay The body of work, Logical Fallacies Handlist: Arguments to Avoid when Writing, explains that fallacies are statements that may sound logical, but contains information that makes it illogical. Fallacies, when detected, can depict the writer as an individual that lacks intelligence or the ability to be honest, which is why it is important to avoid this when composing an argument. Having the capacity to identify them in others arguments is equally as important, as it allows the reader to identify when the arguer attempts to mislead them. Fallacies of relevance do not, logically, relate to the argument, but does so emotionally or psychologically. For instance, Argumentum ad Baculum, also known as the appeal to force, uses force, or threats of force by the writer, to persuade the reader to side with them. Also, genetic fallacies are similar to argumentum ad hominem and base its claim on the idea that the premise is correct due to its origin. Although analogous to genetic fallacies, argumentum ad hominem diverts the discussion of an argument by criticizing or praising the individual that is making the case. Argumentum ad hominem is fallacious in that the debater s character does not validate or negate an argument. Used by numerous propagandist and advertisers, argumentum ad populum uses emotionally charged language to provoke strong emotions and persuade the audience to accept the conclusion. Furthermore, argumentum ad populum uses three different approaches. Bandwagon, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Effects Of Media On Young Children Observational Learning the Young Child Luciana D. Lavilaire Florida International University Prof. Marie Daurel P. 1 Abstract This paper intends to bring awareness to the harmful effects of the media on young children. Through this paper, I will investigate the claim that television promotes observational learning. I will describe the obscenities the media exposes to children. With that, I will explain how the media causes aggression in consumers, especially those of youth. This paper will also expound on the powerful effect modeling has on behavior. I will provide extensive examples of the impact of the media using multiple sources. Observational Learning the Young Child Observational learning can be best defined as learning that occurs through observing the behavior of others. It occurs from observing, retaining, and reproducing a behavior observed from a model. In order for observational learning to occur, the observer must regard an action, memorize what was observed, be able to replicate the behavior, and be motivated to yield the particular behavior. According to Introduction to Psychology: Gateways to Mind and Behavior, by observing a model, a person may learn a new response, learn to carry out or avoid previously learned responses, or learn a general rule that can be applied to various situations (Coon Mitterer, p. 231). Observational learning can teach completely new behaviors or can affect the frequency of previously learned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
