Conflict And The Work Climate And Negatively Affects...
All employee and employers, like nurses and nurse leaders, are based on collaborative relationships
with one another. When two or more individuals view issues or situations from different perspectives,
these relationships can be compromised by conflict. Conflict stems from discordance that arises in
values, beliefs, thoughts, feelings, or behaviors of two or more individuals (Pangman Pangman, 2010).
For the purpose of this article, conflict is defined as a phenomenon occurring between interdependent
individuals as they experience negative emotional reactions to perceived disagreements and
interference with the attainment of their goals (Barki Hartwick, 2004). Furthermore, everyone
encounters conflict in varying degrees, and this often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When people encounter conflict situations, they need to be able to accept conflict as a normative
challenge and use effective conflict management approaches and other alternatives to transform
conflict into an opportunity for growth (Pangman Pangman, 2010). It is important for negotiators to
have a clear understanding and working knowledge of the approaches to conflict and to be aware of
various alternatives to managing conflict. Therefore, the process of negotiation is an effective
interactive approach that emphasizes the need to maintain ongoing relationships and to share power
and control. One of the international bestselling book on negotiation is Getting to YES, by Roger
Fisher and William Ury that provide ideas about negotiation as a method of conflict management
using principled negotiation. Negotiation can be defined as basic means of being able to receive what
you want from others and where you discuss back and forth until an agreement is reached (Fisher Ury,
2011). Negotiation is an ongoing effective strategy that emphasizes the need to maintain good working
relationships in day to day activity within health care organizations (Pangman Pangman, 2010).
Moreover, there are many areas in life where people spend time negotiating with one another whether
it is over a contract, a family quarrel, a peace settlement, or a curfew. Negotiators often find
themselves using three methods to negotiation such as soft, hard, or

Jeffrey Dahmer, The Milwaukee Monster
Jeffrey Dahmer is one of the most well known serial killers of all time. He earned this reputation by
his sick and twisted ways of killing and preserving his victim s body parts. From organizing bones in
filing cabinets to freezing internal organs for later consumption, Dahmer proved to be a very sick and
twisted individual. Throughout this paper it will be analyzing and discussing the life and possible
diagnosis of Jeffrey Dahmer, the Milwaukee monster. Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer was born in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin in 1960. Although Dahmer did not have a horrible childhood, it was not an ideal one.
Jeffrey s mother, Joyce Dahmer was reported to have a rough pregnancy. Due to her complications she
suffered from post partum depression, resulting in withdrawal from Jeffrey. At the age of four he
suffered from a double hernia. Although it was not a major surgical procedure young Jeffrey was
confused and alone due to the fact that no one ever comforted and explained to him what was going
on. At the age of six Jeffrey welcomed a little brother into the world. After his brother was born
Jeffrey s father got a new job and they relocated to Ohio where Jeffrey s insecurities deepened. At the
age of ten Jeffrey s parents started noticing his interest in experimenting with dead animals. Jeffrey
would ride his bike around the woods and collect dead animals and then take them home. Once home
he would do a variety of things with them from decapitating rodents, to bleaching

Essay Research on Employee Satisfaction and Production
Through out this essay the notion of satisfied employees being more productive will be broken down
and examined, taking into consideration research and theories, to determine if there is any correlation
between the two elements, and if so, to what extent. Locke (1976) defines job satisfaction as
pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one s job or job experience... a
perception of how well their job provides those things that are viewed as important. The feeling of
satisfaction is an attitude, a psychological tendency that is expressed by evaluating a particular entity
with some degree of favour or disfavour (Eagly and Chaiken, 1993) favour being the satisfaction the
employee feels. While in its purest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence his focus on the job resources; there is a role to play by the employer to provide the necessary
elements for the employee to be productive. He shows how the cycle between both job resources and
the employee s personal resources when the requirements are met conclude with productivity.
Reinforcing the importance of rewards and acknowledgement is the concept of flow .
Csikszentmihalyi (1990) developed this concept describing the positive mental state of an individual
being whole heartedly committed to the working process, in the act of being productive, which is
meaningful to the point that intrinsic rewards outweigh any external rewards received. The idea of
flow is that once a person is in flow they are very unlikely to drift from their work, as they have fully
committed their attention to the given activity, meaning they are more dedicated to the task at hand
increasing both the quality and productivity of the employee. It is thought the employee would have to
feel satisfied with their job to be able to maintain this state of flow. Flow is a complete state of
motivation (Csikszentmihalyi 1990) meaning there are no distractions and that they complete the task
at hand, in exchange for the intrinsic rewards they value and are in effect working towards.
Herzberg s (1993) Motivation Hygiene theory analyses job attitudes suggesting a two step approach to
understanding employee motivation and satisfaction;

Book Report On The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton
The outsiders, written by S. E. Hinton, is a story about a group of friends and family, from the
perspective of ponyboy, who struggle with being a Greaser living with many problems. Greasers are a
group of people who live on the west side, where they aren t treated the best and basically live in the
slums. Most of the greasers are considered hoodlums and crooks, while they steal cigarettes from tasty
freezes. Greasers normally wear black leather jackets over their white shirts and blue jeans, they slick
their hair back with tons of grease to keep it back. That is after all where they got their name. The
greasers get picked on by the Socs, they are considered the wealthy, spoiled rich kids who wear

Was The Demise Of The Titanic, The “Unsinkable” Ship,...
Was the demise of the Titanic, the unsinkable ship, actually caused by an iceberg? People have been
told for centuries that the Titanic s catastrophic sinking was caused by the ship hitting an iceberg.
Hundreds of movies have been made and thousands of articles and books have been written about the
infamous sinking. However, the cause of the sinking is very different than most people have been told
all along. The Titanic, which was regarded as unsinkable, was the largest ship of its time. The ship was
owned by the White Star Line, and departed from Southampton England on April 10 1912, scheduled
to bring its 2224 passengers to New York. In the early hours of April 15 1912, the ship sank, killing
1500 people. Most historians believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One major piece of evidence that supports the fire theory is the images discovered by Molony that
reveal a thirty foot long, diagonal black mark on the hull s front starboard side. These marks resemble
scorch marks caused by a fire at almost exactly where the iceberg struck the ship (NY Daily News).
The pictures Molony references were found at an auction house and were taken by chief electrical
engineer of the Titanic, John Westbeech Kempster. Kempster took these photographs on April 1 and
April 2 at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland, just over a week before the
ship sailed (CNN). At first, Molony thought the black mark could just be a reflection, but after careful
examination, he found that the mark did not change places between photographs. One thing that
caught Molony s eye about the mark was that it was facing the sea, not the dock. Molony believes that
the ship was strategically positioned so that the passengers were not able to see the mark, so as not to
raise questions (New York Times). Dr. Guillermo Rein, who specializes in studying coal fires, also
examined the photos with Molony. In a documentary about the coal fire entitled Titanic: The New
Evidence , Dr. Rein states that the marks could definitely be from a coal fire. Since the photographs
were taken about ten days before the ship s departure, the fire must have been going on for at least that

Analysis Of Hans Zimmer s Interstellar
Introduction A film soundtrack refers to the original music that is written and composed to accompany
a given film. A number of cues, instrumentals and orchestral music make part of it. They are carefully
timed to start and end at specific moments during the films performance so as to make the narrative
better as well as improve the emotional impact of certain scenes. In this paper, we perform a critical
analysis of Hans Zimmers Interstellar soundtrack.

There are also other instances of silence that are used to add to the movie s dramatic experiences
(Laurence, 2013). For instance, the first time the crew enters space, the music that was originally
playing stops and the actor s voices appear muffled.
Impact of music on human emotion and attention
For a long time, there has been a connection between society and music. There is no culture on earth,
which does not know anything, that concerns music. Furthermore, human beings sometimes base their
actions according to music. It is a known fact that music helps improve one s brain, when it comes to
matters that concern learning and studying. Einstein Albert is an exceptional man, who became
renowned in academic matters, due to the music he listening to. When Einstein was young, people
thought he was stupid, and after learning to play the violin, he improved. He often listened and played
music by Bach and Mozart, and in turn, became extremely smart. Currently, the iPod is popular
among many students, and they use it without thinking of the consequences it may have in the long
run.
Research has been conducted, and it has been found out that studying improves as a result of listening
to music. Also, it should be known that extreme users of IPods are at risk of suffering from hearing
health problems. Even more, they might lose their hearing, while they are still young, and this will
affect their life s quality in the future. Researchers have identified

The Death Penalty In Australia
Introduction~ The death penalty has always been one of the most debated issues in Australia. In most
countries in the developed world, the death penalty is illegal. I, however believe that the death penalty
is an important way of keeping all Australians safe.
Body 1~ The crimes of rape, torture, treason, kidnapping, stealing and murder are awful. We can
prevent these from happening by bringing back the death penalty, by following this adjustment their
will be minor crimes being held. In my opinion If someone murdered an innocent victim they should
therefore, be killed there is no question about it. The death penalty can deter people from committing
serious crimes and therefore make Australia a safer country.
Body 2~ The death penalty is

Henry Fleming The Youth Quotes
Henry Fleming, also known as The Youth in the book, was a young soldier heading out for war with
excitement and pride. Little does Henry know what awaits him in a war in which brothers fought
against brothers and fathers against their sons. How the cruelty of war may take his innocent mind and
transform it into something gruesome and horrid in which he may have never expected, yet mold him
into a man who can say that he s seen it all. In the first page, the author reflects on the setting which is
in a valley near a river and how the Yankees can see the Reds army camping across the plain. The tall
soldier comes into play by telling his regiment that he heard rumors from a good friend that their
regiment will be hitting the reds on their flanks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a good fight, wasn t it? Yes, said the youth shortly. (Crane, 1957, p.30). In this quote, it shows
Henry sarcasm towards that question since he escaped and didn t see the outcome of the battle. Where
were you hit? repeated the tattered man. Oh, began the youth, I I that is oh (Crane, 1957, p.31).
Bumping into the wounded made Henry s conscious worse since he left the battle in vain and he doesn
t have a scar from the battle showing his cowardice and his shamefulness for fleeing. Likely, the
soldier is generalizing because he is hurt.) Embarrassed, Fleming does not answer, leaves, and longs
for an injury, a red badge of courage (Mayer, 2009). The Youth bumps into the tall soldier, who was in
his regiment, who was wounded during the battle. The tall soldier keeps talking about his fear of being
left on the road to be driven over by carts and soldiers. He asks Henry to pull his body out of the road
but the tall soldier ends up running to a clear plain and dies there. This must be a dire situation that
takes a toll unto Henry, watching a fellow comrade who he had been with since enlisting die before his
mere eyes. Just to pull me out of the road? I d do it for you, wouldn t I, Henry? (Crane, 1957,

Women In Aldous Huxley s A Brave New World
Aldous Huxley foresaw a great number of feats in his novel, but it seems that he saw no kind of
liberation for women at any point in the near or distant future. In fact, despite the dystopic nature of
Huxley s novel, he instead created a futuristic world that is hauntingly similar to our own. The only
difference being that Hover cars actually do exist. Upon first glance, the story seems liberating,
uplifting, and in every sense of the word, futuristic. But as you delve further into the novel you
become blinded by the blatant misogyny that holds this dull, unadventurous story together. Brave New
World is predictably centred around Alpha plus rebels, the over privileged men who fight the system
but meet their fortunate downfall at some point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you were to walk into any government, court house, or police firm, you would find an
overwhelming amount of men filling up positions more times than not. You might say that oh, but men
are more fitted to those jobs! Women don t know how to be a police officer, judge, prime minister, but
that s only because we have never been given the chance. And if, like Julia Gillard perhaps, we do
happen to break through the misogynistic barriers of society, we would be relentlessly ridiculed, even
if we were more successful than any man before us. But Huxley s lack of femme fatale doesn t stop
him from portaying the few female characters in a non favourable way. The only memorable female
characters in the book, Lenina and Linda, were both semi perfectly conditioned Betas, which gives the
impression that women are single sided and lack distinguishing characteristics. What s more is that
Huxley doesn t mention a single female Alpha plus nor World Leader; apparently the top of the food
chain is not where women belong. The Alpha plus males of Huxley s novel seem to be the only ones
rebelling against the New World order. They are the only group capable of being unhappy,
unorthodox, and rebellious. And they are definitely the only ones praised for those very things.
Despite the caste system and the belief that everyone is happy now, the elites of Huxley s book are
still trying to break the barrier. Even though they are the most privelleged people in society. They re

Persuasive Essay On Rail Transportation
Trains are everywhere in our society, we have jokes, toys, movies, and children s television shows, but
did you know rail transport started in 6th century Greece? The city of San Antonio, Texas is a fast
growing metropolitan city that has a very tremendous amount of people. It has been estimated that the
city will grow by another million people in the next ten to twenty years. San Antonio s traffic is
becoming a huge issue and is quickly approaching to be one of the most congested areas in the states.
The public transport in San Antonio consists of a very complex bus system, taxicabs, Trolley s
downtown, and the growing market of ridesharing drivers. San Antonio has had many talks and
negotiations throughout the last two decades on getting a Light Rail system constructed to help with
public transportation. This proposal is for specific businesses, the city of San Antonio and Bexar
County to come to a funding agreement.
Funding for projects is always a topic of discussion, payments for a sculptor to sculpt a statue, and
hiring wrecking crews for doing their job are just small examples. The funding cost for Light Rail is
extremely high when it comes to construction, these prices are something that a any+ billionaire can
personally handle. These prices are always subject to change because of materials used and the
constant change of technology. Through the talks of this new transit system coming to San Antonio,
different funding options have been suggested, raising taxes,

Skipping Class Is The Best Years Of Your Life
School is boring, says half of American students who routinely skips (Azuz). Many students think
skipping class is awful, while others think skipping class is a part of the college life. Skipping class
wastes money, more likely causes students to get a lower grade, and forces some students to play catch
up. Furthermore, skipping class can be a part of the college life. People say College is the best years of
your life. Students can t spend all their time behind walls. People are supposed to explore, find their
spot on this earth, and make the best of it. Skipping class produce more negative outcomes, but can
produce some beautiful positive outcomes. Skipping is not denying the education, but choosing what
type of education students want to receive.
Last year, I was the skipper of the freshman class. Sometimes, I just didn t feel like going to class, or
listening to the long boring lecture. I skipped each course at least three times. I m dropped a total of 3
classes last year, because I failed to go to class. I used to skip one class every week. English 101 class
was so long causing me to lose interest in the class. I would rather watch a documentary on how to
make napkins than sit in his class. I had to drop the class because I skipped so much, that I wasn t
going to pass the course. Another class, Politics 101 wasn t interesting to me. After I took the final
exam, I should have attended class every time. I only needed three points to pass with a C. The teacher

Distracted Driving Persuasive Essay
Persuasive Essay Marlen E. Pew once said, Recklessness is a species of crime and should be so
regarded on our streets and highways. In today s world, technology is evolving at a rapid pace and it
has revolutionized how people communicate with each other. Because of this, it has been a lot easier
for drivers to get distracted behind the wheel, especially by their mobile phones. Since Americans
have busy lives, it has been seen that people do not have the time to get the things done they need to.
This then leaves them with their time behind the wheel, where they believe using a mobile device is
okay. With more advanced phones and a progression of people engaging in using their mobile devices

worst distraction while driving because it calls for visual, manual, and cognitive attention from the

and are not aware of their surroundings. While driving the driver should be concentrated on the road at
all times. Although it takes only seconds to open, read, and respond to a single text, a car accident can

Tap Water Contains A Wide Variety Of Organic And Inorganic
Tap water contains a wide variety of organic and inorganic materials, most of which are innocuous.
However, some trace constituents in water, including heavy metals such as copper, zinc, cadmium and
lead, are more problematic. Water leaving a drinking water purification plant will ordinarily contain
negligible levels of lead and other harmful metals. These metals enter the water during distribution,
through the corrosion of service pipes and plumbing in a process called leaching. Metals such as lead
can leach from pipes, old solder or fixtures. Although some corrosion of plumbing is inevitable, the
severity of leaching depends on the material of the pipes, the corrosivity and temperature of water and
the amount of time water is stagnant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of these, the Flint Michigan water crises was the most publicized, as it was exposed through media
attention after delayed action from the EPA and state government, and only after widespread elevation
in blood lead levels (EBLL) of residents had induced long term and even permanent health
consequences (Romain, 2016).
As a result of increased public concern regarding water quality following the Flint Michigan water
crisis, Chicago Public Schools began a water testing program to analyze lead levels in drinking water.
Of 527 schools in the CPS system, 327 CPS campuses were tested by Chicago Public School s Water
Testing Program in spring of 2016. Analysis of water in these schools, conducted by the EPA, revealed
that of the 6,167 water fixtures tested on these campuses, 184 fixtures from 113 schools returned with
levels above the lead action level of 15 parts per billion (ppb). In total, 34.56% of the initially tested
campuses had at least one fixture that exceeded EPA action levels (Chicago Public Schools, 20161).
The CPS school selected for testing in this research project was not tested in the initial round of
testing in spring of 2016. However, the selected school was tested the following school year, in
October of 2017. Results from the CPS testing indicated that none of the school s fixtures exceeded
15ppb, however, lead levels below EPA action level were found, ranging from 2.1ppb to 11ppb. Of the

If Everyone Is A Lucky Dog Essay
If Everyone is A Lucky Dog I read a story of The Bible just now. A man in it was fortune when I was
under a heavy pressure to face a test. I sometimes thought why I always lose chances, and I think I am
not lucky. But when I think about a thing from another aspect, I find that I am not only lucky, but also
unique. Daniel the servant of the living god was cast into a den of lions. A stone was laid over the
mouth of the pit, and then the king ordered to close it. No one can change his purpose. But that night,
it was a very long night for Darius the king, for he cannot eat well, sleep well and hardly to listen to

brought up out of the den by king, and the king put down his heart after he assured that there was no

he met difficult god will help him. When he was thrown into the den of lions, god sent his angel to

Never Let Me Go is about a thirty one year old woman named Kathy H. Kathy is a carer for donors
and she travels from care center to care center. She talks about her childhood at Hailsham and her
childhood friends, mostly Ruth and Tommy, and the adventures she experienced. At the end of the

Who Is Edward De Vere And The Life Of William Shakespeare
Who is Edward de Vere?
Family
To understand whether or not Edward de Vere was William Shakespeare, I must first describe the life
of Edward de Vere and the life of William Shakespeare. Edward de Vere was the 17th Earl of Oxford
and can sometimes be known as Oxford. It is know that he was born April 12, 1550 at Castle
Hedingham (the family s ancestral) and died June 24, 1660. John de Vere his father was Lord Great
Chamberlain died in 1562. His mother was Margaret Golding. After John de Vere s death Margaret
married Charles Tyrell and seem to have passed out of Oxford s life for unknown reasons. John de
Vere and Margaret Golding also had a girl named Mary who went to live with her mom and step dad.

His daily studies include: dancing, French, Latin, writing, drawing, cosmography, penmanship, riding,
shooting, exercise and prayer. He also knew Botany. Edward de Vere quickly gathered a love for
learning due to his two early learning tutors, Sir Thomas Smith and Laurence Nowell. Sir Thomas
Smith who was England s most respected Greek scholar and the former Cambridge tutor of William
Cecil. Smith was a scholar of widely varied interests, which was reflected in his 400 volume library.
His second tutor was Laurence Nowell who was an accomplished cartographer, premier scholar of
Anglo Saxon literature but also obtains the only copy of Beowulf [The De Vere Society]. Another
important educational influence of De Vere s early studies was his maternal uncle Arthur Golding, an
officer in the Court of Wards under Cecil, Arthur Golding is credited to translate Ovid s
Metamorphoses. In 1558, Oxford attended Cambridge and was awarded an honorary MA by
Cambridge on a royal progress in August 1564 and another by Oxford University on a Royal progress
in 1566. After Cambridge, De Vere later attended Gray s Inn to study law. He was a child prodigy,
Edward de Vere graduated from Oxford when he was 8 years old and by the time he was 13 his tutors

A Thousand Splendid Suns Feminist Analysis
In Hosseini s A Thousand Splendid Suns, Mariam and Laila were brought together due to
circumstances they could not control. Although they were both oppressed wives of a cruel and violent
husband, Rasheed, they were eventually able to regain power over their own lives. The two women
supported and learned from each other, finding strength in their relationship. Their relationship was an
alliance of sorts and was essential to their ability to regain power over their lives. Once Mariam and
Laila befriended each other, they each started to gain courage and hope and began to take more control
over their lives in separate, small acts of courage and rebellion that eventually led to significant events
which cemented their newly regained power. The developing of power did not come without
obstacles, but Mariam and Laila were able to persevere and continue to stand up for themselves
against both Rasheed and their societal constraints. Finding strength and motivation from each other
and from other loved ones essential to their efforts, Mariam and Laila were able to take power over
their own lives by standing up to and retaliating against oppressors in a series of events which led to
the pivotal moment when Mariam kills Rasheed, finally setting both women free and giving them both

preventing him from harming Mariam. This small victory against Rasheed was the beginning of
several events that marked the women s attaining of power. Another example of how Laila rebelled
against Rasheed s possessive, controlling nature is when

The Death With Dignity Laws
In Oregon, as of 2014, the three most frequently mentioned end of life concerns were: loss of
autonomy (91.4%), decreasing ability to participate in activities that made life enjoyable (86.7%), and
loss of dignity (71.4%) (Oregon Health Authority). Physician assisted suicide is a controversial topic
that continues to divide federal and state governments and citizens everywhere around the country and
world. In what s known as Death With Dignity Laws that have already been passed in Oregon,
Washington, Vermont, and likely California, doctors are able to write prescriptions to patients, who

Many people believe that the passing of Death With Dignity Laws is a slippery slope that will lead to a
variety of unethical medical practices including the use of these laws on mentally ill or Alzheimer s
patients. In all of the states that passed the law there are strict guidelines as to how can access the law
and in many cases the laws have not changed since they were passed. The laws come from the idea
that terminally ill people should be able to control how they suffer and ultimately how they die
without interference from the government, religious organizations, or other external sources of policy.
Although a patient may have the lethal dose of prescription provided by their physician under the law
in their possession they have absolutely no obligation to use it and in many they don t. In cases where
the medication is taken the patients who choose to take it have self control and more dignity than they
would if they had to suffer through the degenerative processes of a terminal illness. Linda Waite

Teenage Subcultures
Due to the war ending in 1945, all families were able to settle down and have children. This led to the
baby boom of 1945 1960s where there was an abundance of youths in the 1950s. In the 50s there were
almost 100 babies born a minute putting a threat to over population (Howell.G, 1975). From this, the
teenager was invented (Kotarba J A, 2012) where many different subcultures had formed, each with
individual styles and influenced by figures in film, music and TV. Glossy fashion magazines such as
Vogue and Seventeen were also becoming very popular so youths were able to easily see what the
future held for trends and what clothes they should and shouldn t be wearing. Teenage girls and boys
were now recognised as a new consumer and when designers started to realise this they set up
boutiques inside department stores (Buxbaum.G, 1999). They sold simpler designs at cheaper prices
where the younger generation were able to create their own style rather than copying their parents, for
example ranges of clothes would come out specifically targeted at young girls for dances where they
would have a large choice in dresses to buy. British teenagers had twice as much money to spend on
what they liked compared to their parents (Breward.C, 1999). This meant that a new market opened up
for retailers with a great economic dependence on this particular age group. One of these subcultures
that had formed was called the Teddy Boys and Girls which originated in Mayfair, London before

Ethics In Call Of Duty
War is unforgiveable. Even to the novices and the arm chair commanders whose combat experience
does not extend past Call of Duty , it is clear that choosing one path over another can mean the
difference between life and death for oneself and one s unit. Sometimes there is no right decision, and
yet in others our own prejudices, fears, and emotions get in the way of the right decision. While the
former is often the well known reality of life that is seldom overcome, the latter leads people to make
the wrong decision when the right one is clear. The same can be said of the unit from the Academy
Award winning 1986 film Platoon that fell victim to their own prejudices, fears, and emotions,
eventually committing a number of war crimes before the film was through.
Despite the fictional nature of the film, Chris Taylor, played by Charlie Sheen, and the rest of the
soldiers in his platoon are forced to face not only their own ill advised actions, but whether or not to
report the illegal killing of a Vietnamese civilian. After Sergeant Elias, one of the platoon s squad
leaders, reports the killing, he is killed in action under suspicious circumstances after coming face to

Jim Jones Cult Theory
Sociologists view cult behavior as a deviance from society s norm. There are many theories as to why
a cult leader forms a cult and how they garner such complete blind devotion from their members.
While researching Jim Jones and The Peoples Temple I discovered that this particular cult adhered to
several of the proven theories. Jones had few societal bonds and used fear and intimidation to control
his members. He was an extreme socialist turned communist; when his original goals were met with
resistance, he chose the path of rebellion, which was to reject society s goals and seek to provide his
own goals and means to accomplish them (Henslin, 2015). Jim Jones was born in a small town in
Indiana. His father was a disabled WWI veteran who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Land was purchased in Guyana and The Peoples Temple relocated with the intention of forming a
utopian commune, more than 1,000 members followed Jones to Guyana (Rosenburg, 2016).
Unfortunately, there was nothing utopian about Jonestown. The commune was run like a prison camp
and Jones was in complete control of all members; no one could leave, phone calls to the States were
scripted, letters in and out were censored, and armed guards stood at the perimeters (pbs.org). Since
communications were severely restricted, Jones began preaching fear to maintain his control; the Ku
Klux clan was taking over American cities, nuclear war was on the horizon, and concentration camps
were being built to house blacks and political activists (pbs.org). He would preach constantly over the
loudspeaker, sometimes all night long, and initiated suicide drills, which he termed revolutionary
suicide. These so called, white nights , where he would give the members a cup of red liquid that they
were told held poison, which they were then ordered to drink. Later, they were told it was not
poisoned and they had passed the loyalty test (Biography.com, 2014). Jones told his members that,
their deaths would be honored by the world as a symbolic protest against the evils of mankind. He
would further tell them that the faithful would then be transformed and go to live with him on another

story of a killer whale that, at a young age, was stripped from his mother, and was then taken to
perform shows and live in captivity at the highly popular SeaWorld resort. Seeing this killer whale

these animals in captivity, exploit the problems that lie within sea park industries, and show that man

The tear jerking story of a young orca being stripped from its family and taken to a park where it is
then abused by other animals, is enough to make any compassionate soul long for the protection of
killer whales and mammals in captivity. Blackfish not only presents this emotional story, but also
illustrates that some of these whales who grow up in strained environments, (such as Tilikum) even
resort to killing those it interacts with. Stories of a man killed in the sea park Loro Parque, and a
woman killed at SeaWorld by an orca, are both retold within the documentary. The backgrounds of the
individuals are presented in a way that make both individuals likeable, and interviews are held with
relatives of the deceased, which further intensifies the feelings of sadness when the trainers deaths are
disclosed. Viewers of the documentary consequently connect emotionally with the families of the
deceased, and empathize with those who mourn over the loss of the sea park trainers. Furthering the
effectiveness of Blackfish s argument, the information used in the documentary is not only emotional,
but also sensible and contains reason. One example of this occurs when the video retold how Tilikum
was used to breed over 50% of the orcas at SeaWorld. To present this, a graph was used to visually
show the pedigree of Tilikum. Following the visual, a report was made that because Tilikum had been

What Are The Causes And Disadvantages Of The Crusade

When the crusaders started to arrive in Venice, the Venetians, in accordance with the treaty of Venice,
had prepared a fleet large enough to transport the agreed upon thirty three thousand five hundred
crusaders. However, nowhere near that number of people ever made it to Venice. According to one
chronicles, Geoffrey de Villehardouin, the ships the Venetians had built could have carried three times
as many people as were present in Venice. This was caused by the fact that many crusaders had
decided to travel to the Holy Land via other ports, such as Marseilles or Genoa. As Geoffrey de

Without the Treaty of Venice the entire diversion might never have happened, as the crusaders would
not have needed the money offered by Alexius IV in exchange for their help reclaiming the Byzantine
throne. The relationship the Republic of Venice had with the Byzantine Empire by the time of the
crusade might have influenced their willingness in diverting the crusade to Constantinople, as for them
there was more to gain from placing an emperor friendly to Venetians on the throne than simply
saving the crusade. Still, the influence of the Venetians on the diversion must not be overestimated. It
is easy to look back on history, knowing where a journey such as the Fourth Crusade will end, and
assume people were able to foresee everything that would be about to happen. This ignorance can be
recognized in the sources written by Geoffrey de Villehardouin and Robert de Clari, they saw the
compromise of diverting the crusade to Zara as a reason for celebration, unaware of the unfortunate
consequences this would bring. Therefore, if there is anything we can learn from history is that trying
to predict the future will most likely be futile. Yet it is still important to acknowledge our history,
especially the dark pages such as the Fourth Crusade. Religious fanaticism resulting in violence is an
issue that is still not resolved in today s world, however, when looking at the

The Challenges And Issues Facing Schools
Introduction
The challenges and issues facing schools are becoming more complex subtle to address. There is a
tendency towards school board members seeking to advance personal interests and agendas on the
board s decisions which has enhanced the instances of conflicts of interest and controversial issues in
many schools. The distinction between the roles and responsibilities of the board members from those
of the superintendent has become blurred, making it essential that superintendents make decisions that

light. Tradition to this time era, Manet s techniques were extraordinary and brush strokes become
much less developed. Most of his brush strokes have been done in free handed. Focusing on the nude
female, her skin is not smoothed out with value of color and brush techniques. Also the background is
containing a rough brush strokes. During this time period, most of the artists are hiding brush strokes
for their technique, but Manet did the opposites. It is obvious to see each brush stroke in nude female
giving a rough complexion. In the background, also this style of rough brush strokes are made

Modern Culture Is Inevitable, By John Storey And The...
Evolution of culture is inevitable, as shown in John Storey s articles, Inventing Opera as art in
Nineteenth Century Manchester and The Invention of the English Christmas. Within both articles,
Storey showcases the transformation of culture, with the opera from low class entertainment to high
class art and Christmas transforming from a religious centered event to a capitalism driven day. Both
articles look at class hierarchy, the rise of materialism and accessibility. While both of Storey s articles
are concerned with the evolution of cultural events, the opera emphasises class hierarchy, whereas the
article on the progression of Christmas focuses on a materialistic revolution. Inventing Opera as art in
Nineteenth Century Manchester told how opera evolved from an event centred on entertainment to a
form of art that could only be accessed by the bourgeois. Opera became a social construct, creating a
class hierarchy. Original Venetian operas were considered as low culture to the influential middle class
as they were the popular culture at the time and attended by lower class people who did not appreciate
the art form (Giroux, Nealon 2011, 53). Inventing Opera as art in Nineteenth Century Manchester
looks at an emergence of class hierarchy and what separates high class opera from low class opera. In
comparison, Storey s other article The Invention of the English Christmas demonstrates a materialistic

Emily Grierson Downfall
It was in the year 1930 when the great William Faulkner wrote the compelling short story A Rose for
Emily. As Faulkner once specified the title s delineation focuses on a respectable woman s bitter
ending, which was inevitable but deserved a rose symbolizing respect. With Faulkner s short story
being comprised with such gothic material one must take notice of the primary protagonist, Miss
Emily Grierson. Several vital events and key internal attributes would unfortunately lead to Grierson s
demise. The rudimentary of Grierson s personality traits begins with her vibrant attitude in life. This is
greatly displayed at the time of her father s death, when she surpassed all the pitiful glares presented
by the townspeople. However, this once undefeatable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grierson s death introduces a psychological aberrancy to the primary protagonist. In a published
Journal on Short Stories, writer Jack Scherting elucidates that, Emily s father had prevented her
maturing sexually in the normal and natural way... thus repressed her sexual drive in abnormal
behavior (400). Due to Mr. Grierson s incessant presence in Emily s life this would inadvertently lead
to a shift in her personality. Emily Grierson mentally couldn t stand the idea of her father (the only
male figure in her life) departing. With that being said, she had conjured up a facade created world
where her father was still among the living. Although she had finally come to her senses and accepted
his death, this opened a door to a completely different Emily Grierson, a person who was neither
mentally stable nor sane. Moreover, with the arrival of Homer Barron hope seemed to flourish. Barron
is described as, ...a big, dark ready man, with a big voice and eyes lighter than his face (Faulkner 33).
It was also made very clear by the townsfolk that a man like Barron would never be good enough for
Miss. Emily Grierson. Sadly, it can be concluded by the reader that Grierson had lost all hope of ever
finding a nice husband, and didn t care whether or not he was up to her deceased father s standards.
This act alone is a key change in Grierson s characteristics because she had become desperate on the
idea of not being

Descriptive Essay About Kiss
You were shocked by his actions. You never dated anyone nor had experiences in kissing, excluding
the ones Luhan gave you but you could tell it wasn t a kiss of lust or of any sort. It was a kiss pure of
emotions and love, but you didn t know that.
Which guy would be willing to calm down his hormones and not jump right there, right then on the
girl beside him, on the same bed and almost half naked? It took all his willpower not to pounce on you
since after all, he was a man and he had needs. He was at the age where his raging hormones were at
its most active, but his love and respect for you were overpowering his selfishness.
Kisses with Luhan were always on the cheek or stolen kisses on the lips. He was the one who always
initiated it. At first, it was awkward but you grew used to it as unusual as it sounded. You didn t feel
uncomfortable with his kisses they were always sweet. Your kisses weren t that many but they were
meaningful.
Luhan hesitantly pulled away and looked at you. You wanted to ask him what the kiss was for, but you
didn t want to be awkward around him. One thing you were sure of, it was sincere. You looked at him
waiting for his next move and you received a warm kiss on your forehead.
You knew something was bothering him, but you didn t know why he was acting that way. Then it hit
you, *maybe he needed comfort*. Really? Comfort a guy by kisses and hugs? You weren t sure, but
your instinct told you to do so.
You wrapped your arms around his waist and you

Uniforms in School
The standard issue school uniform of khaki, navy and white once exclusive to the private parochial
institutions is becoming a common requirement in public schools across the nation. This trend that
was first suggested for public schools in 1980 by then D. C. mayor, Marion Barry, to help diminish the
social stigma of low income students has grown significantly in both numbers and reasons (Lawrence,
2013). In 2010, it was reported by the National Center for Education Statistics, that nearly 19% of the
nation s public schools now require a mandated school uniform (Campbell, n.d.). While there are quite
a number of opponents to such a policy in the public schools, the benefits are numerous. Students
following a school uniform policy are less likely to focus on clothing as a means for determining
status) and may experience less stress from being judged by the type or cost of clothing they wear
(Campbell, n.d.; Cascio, n.d.). All too often society is judged and defined by the clothing of an
individual from its style to cost to fit. By removing this outward factor as a labeling status, students
are placed on a more even playing field leaving competitions for the sports fields rather than the
classroom runway. Less classroom completion in fashion allows more time to focus on studies. School
uniforms also helps to create a sense of community and belonging, much as a member of a sports team
that wears a uniform might feel (Buesing, n.d.). A sense of belonging as a member of a

  • 2. Conflict And The Work Climate And Negatively Affects... All employee and employers, like nurses and nurse leaders, are based on collaborative relationships with one another. When two or more individuals view issues or situations from different perspectives, these relationships can be compromised by conflict. Conflict stems from discordance that arises in values, beliefs, thoughts, feelings, or behaviors of two or more individuals (Pangman Pangman, 2010). For the purpose of this article, conflict is defined as a phenomenon occurring between interdependent individuals as they experience negative emotional reactions to perceived disagreements and interference with the attainment of their goals (Barki Hartwick, 2004). Furthermore, everyone encounters conflict in varying degrees, and this often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When people encounter conflict situations, they need to be able to accept conflict as a normative challenge and use effective conflict management approaches and other alternatives to transform conflict into an opportunity for growth (Pangman Pangman, 2010). It is important for negotiators to have a clear understanding and working knowledge of the approaches to conflict and to be aware of various alternatives to managing conflict. Therefore, the process of negotiation is an effective interactive approach that emphasizes the need to maintain ongoing relationships and to share power and control. One of the international bestselling book on negotiation is Getting to YES, by Roger Fisher and William Ury that provide ideas about negotiation as a method of conflict management using principled negotiation. Negotiation can be defined as basic means of being able to receive what you want from others and where you discuss back and forth until an agreement is reached (Fisher Ury, 2011). Negotiation is an ongoing effective strategy that emphasizes the need to maintain good working relationships in day to day activity within health care organizations (Pangman Pangman, 2010). Moreover, there are many areas in life where people spend time negotiating with one another whether it is over a contract, a family quarrel, a peace settlement, or a curfew. Negotiators often find themselves using three methods to negotiation such as soft, hard, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Jeffrey Dahmer, The Milwaukee Monster Jeffrey Dahmer is one of the most well known serial killers of all time. He earned this reputation by his sick and twisted ways of killing and preserving his victim s body parts. From organizing bones in filing cabinets to freezing internal organs for later consumption, Dahmer proved to be a very sick and twisted individual. Throughout this paper it will be analyzing and discussing the life and possible diagnosis of Jeffrey Dahmer, the Milwaukee monster. Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1960. Although Dahmer did not have a horrible childhood, it was not an ideal one. Jeffrey s mother, Joyce Dahmer was reported to have a rough pregnancy. Due to her complications she suffered from post partum depression, resulting in withdrawal from Jeffrey. At the age of four he suffered from a double hernia. Although it was not a major surgical procedure young Jeffrey was confused and alone due to the fact that no one ever comforted and explained to him what was going on. At the age of six Jeffrey welcomed a little brother into the world. After his brother was born Jeffrey s father got a new job and they relocated to Ohio where Jeffrey s insecurities deepened. At the age of ten Jeffrey s parents started noticing his interest in experimenting with dead animals. Jeffrey would ride his bike around the woods and collect dead animals and then take them home. Once home he would do a variety of things with them from decapitating rodents, to bleaching ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay Research on Employee Satisfaction and Production Through out this essay the notion of satisfied employees being more productive will be broken down and examined, taking into consideration research and theories, to determine if there is any correlation between the two elements, and if so, to what extent. Locke (1976) defines job satisfaction as pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one s job or job experience... a perception of how well their job provides those things that are viewed as important. The feeling of satisfaction is an attitude, a psychological tendency that is expressed by evaluating a particular entity with some degree of favour or disfavour (Eagly and Chaiken, 1993) favour being the satisfaction the employee feels. Hence his focus on the job resources; there is a role to play by the employer to provide the necessary elements for the employee to be productive. He shows how the cycle between both job resources and the employee s personal resources when the requirements are met conclude with productivity. Reinforcing the importance of rewards and acknowledgement is the concept of flow . Csikszentmihalyi (1990) developed this concept describing the positive mental state of an individual being whole heartedly committed to the working process, in the act of being productive, which is meaningful to the point that intrinsic rewards outweigh any external rewards received. The idea of flow is that once a person is in flow they are very unlikely to drift from their work, as they have fully committed their attention to the given activity, meaning they are more dedicated to the task at hand increasing both the quality and productivity of the employee. It is thought the employee would have to feel satisfied with their job to be able to maintain this state of flow. Flow is a complete state of motivation (Csikszentmihalyi 1990) meaning there are no distractions and that they complete the task at hand, in exchange for the intrinsic rewards they value and are in effect working towards. People have been told for centuries that the Titanic s catastrophic sinking was caused by the ship hitting an iceberg. Hundreds of movies have been made and thousands of articles and books have been written about the infamous sinking. However, the cause of the sinking is very different than most people have been told all along. The Titanic, which was regarded as unsinkable, was the largest ship of its time. The ship was owned by the White Star Line, and departed from Southampton England on April 10 1912, scheduled to bring its 2224 passengers to New York. In the early hours of April 15 1912, the ship sank, killing 1500 people. Most historians believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One major piece of evidence that supports the fire theory is the images discovered by Molony that reveal a thirty foot long, diagonal black mark on the hull s front starboard side. These marks resemble scorch marks caused by a fire at almost exactly where the iceberg struck the ship (NY Daily News). The pictures Molony references were found at an auction house and were taken by chief electrical engineer of the Titanic, John Westbeech Kempster. Kempster took these photographs on April 1 and April 2 at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland, just over a week before the ship sailed (CNN). At first, Molony thought the black mark could just be a reflection, but after careful examination, he found that the mark did not change places between photographs. One thing that caught Molony s eye about the mark was that it was facing the sea, not the dock. Molony believes that the ship was strategically positioned so that the passengers were not able to see the mark, so as not to raise questions (New York Times). Dr. Guillermo Rein, who specializes in studying coal fires, also examined the photos with Molony. In a documentary about the coal fire entitled Titanic: The New Evidence , Dr. Rein states that the marks could definitely be from a coal fire. Women In Aldous Huxley s A Brave New World Aldous Huxley foresaw a great number of feats in his novel, but it seems that he saw no kind of liberation for women at any point in the near or distant future. In fact, despite the dystopic nature of Huxley s novel, he instead created a futuristic world that is hauntingly similar to our own. The only difference being that Hover cars actually do exist. Upon first glance, the story seems liberating, uplifting, and in every sense of the word, futuristic. Many people believe that the passing of Death With Dignity Laws is a slippery slope that will lead to a variety of unethical medical practices including the use of these laws on mentally ill or Alzheimer s patients. In all of the states that passed the law there are strict guidelines as to how can access the law and in many cases the laws have not changed since they were passed. The laws come from the idea that terminally ill people should be able to control how they suffer and ultimately how they die without interference from the government, religious organizations, or other external sources of policy. Although a patient may have the lethal dose of prescription provided by their physician under the law in their possession they have absolutely no obligation to use it and in many they don t. In cases where the medication is taken the patients who choose to take it have self control and more dignity than they would if they had to suffer through the degenerative processes of a terminal illness. • 26. Teenage Subcultures Due to the war ending in 1945, all families were able to settle down and have children. This led to the baby boom of 1945 1960s where there was an abundance of youths in the 1950s. In the 50s there were almost 100 babies born a minute putting a threat to over population (Howell.G, 1975). From this, the teenager was invented (Kotarba J A, 2012) where many different subcultures had formed, each with individual styles and influenced by figures in film, music and TV. Glossy fashion magazines such as Vogue and Seventeen were also becoming very popular so youths were able to easily see what the future held for trends and what clothes they should and shouldn t be wearing. Teenage girls and boys were now recognised as a new consumer and when designers started to realise this they set up boutiques inside department stores (Buxbaum.G, 1999). They sold simpler designs at cheaper prices where the younger generation were able to create their own style rather than copying their parents, for example ranges of clothes would come out specifically targeted at young girls for dances where they would have a large choice in dresses to buy. British teenagers had twice as much money to spend on what they liked compared to their parents (Breward.C, 1999). This meant that a new market opened up for retailers with a great economic dependence on this particular age group. Even to the novices and the arm chair commanders whose combat experience does not extend past Call of Duty , it is clear that choosing one path over another can mean the difference between life and death for oneself and one s unit. Sometimes there is no right decision, and yet in others our own prejudices, fears, and emotions get in the way of the right decision. While the former is often the well known reality of life that is seldom overcome, the latter leads people to make the wrong decision when the right one is clear. The same can be said of the unit from the Academy Award winning 1986 film Platoon that fell victim to their own prejudices, fears, and emotions, eventually committing a number of war crimes before the film was through. Despite the fictional nature of the film, Chris Taylor, played by Charlie Sheen, and the rest of the soldiers in his platoon are forced to face not only their own ill advised actions, but whether or not to report the illegal killing of a Vietnamese civilian. There are many theories as to why a cult leader forms a cult and how they garner such complete blind devotion from their members. While researching Jim Jones and The Peoples Temple I discovered that this particular cult adhered to several of the proven theories. Jones had few societal bonds and used fear and intimidation to control his members. He was an extreme socialist turned communist; when his original goals were met with resistance, he chose the path of rebellion, which was to reject society s goals and seek to provide his own goals and means to accomplish them (Henslin, 2015). The commune was run like a prison camp and Jones was in complete control of all members; no one could leave, phone calls to the States were scripted, letters in and out were censored, and armed guards stood at the perimeters (pbs.org). Since communications were severely restricted, Jones began preaching fear to maintain his control; the Ku Klux clan was taking over American cities, nuclear war was on the horizon, and concentration camps were being built to house blacks and political activists (pbs.org). He would preach constantly over the loudspeaker, sometimes all night long, and initiated suicide drills, which he termed revolutionary suicide. Seeing this killer whale take several lives at SeaWorld, the producers of this documentary hope to reveal the mistreatment of these animals in captivity, exploit the problems that lie within sea park industries, and show that man has still not learned from the past problematic occurrences with killer whales. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tear jerking story of a young orca being stripped from its family and taken to a park where it is then abused by other animals, is enough to make any compassionate soul long for the protection of killer whales and mammals in captivity. Blackfish not only presents this emotional story, but also illustrates that some of these whales who grow up in strained environments, (such as Tilikum) even resort to killing those it interacts with. Stories of a man killed in the sea park Loro Parque, and a woman killed at SeaWorld by an orca, are both retold within the documentary. The backgrounds of the individuals are presented in a way that make both individuals likeable, and interviews are held with relatives of the deceased, which further intensifies the feelings of sadness when the trainers deaths are disclosed. Viewers of the documentary consequently connect emotionally with the families of the deceased, and empathize with those who mourn over the loss of the sea park trainers. Furthering the effectiveness of Blackfish s argument, the information used in the documentary is not only emotional, but also sensible and contains reason. One example of this occurs when the video retold how Tilikum was used to breed over 50% of the orcas at SeaWorld. To present this, a graph was used to visually show the pedigree of Tilikum. When the crusaders started to arrive in Venice, the Venetians, in accordance with the treaty of Venice, had prepared a fleet large enough to transport the agreed upon thirty three thousand five hundred crusaders. However, nowhere near that number of people ever made it to Venice. According to one chronicles, Geoffrey de Villehardouin, the ships the Venetians had built could have carried three times as many people as were present in Venice. Without the Treaty of Venice the entire diversion might never have happened, as the crusaders would not have needed the money offered by Alexius IV in exchange for their help reclaiming the Byzantine throne. The relationship the Republic of Venice had with the Byzantine Empire by the time of the crusade might have influenced their willingness in diverting the crusade to Constantinople, as for them there was more to gain from placing an emperor friendly to Venetians on the throne than simply saving the crusade. Still, the influence of the Venetians on the diversion must not be overestimated. It is easy to look back on history, knowing where a journey such as the Fourth Crusade will end, and assume people were able to foresee everything that would be about to happen. This ignorance can be recognized in the sources written by Geoffrey de Villehardouin and Robert de Clari, they saw the compromise of diverting the crusade to Zara as a reason for celebration, unaware of the unfortunate consequences this would bring. Therefore, if there is anything we can learn from history is that trying to predict the future will most likely be futile. • 40. Modern Culture Is Inevitable, By John Storey And The... Evolution of culture is inevitable, as shown in John Storey s articles, Inventing Opera as art in Nineteenth Century Manchester and The Invention of the English Christmas. Within both articles, Storey showcases the transformation of culture, with the opera from low class entertainment to high class art and Christmas transforming from a religious centered event to a capitalism driven day. Both articles look at class hierarchy, the rise of materialism and accessibility. While both of Storey s articles are concerned with the evolution of cultural events, the opera emphasises class hierarchy, whereas the article on the progression of Christmas focuses on a materialistic revolution. Inventing Opera as art in Nineteenth Century Manchester told how opera evolved from an event centred on entertainment to a form of art that could only be accessed by the bourgeois. Opera became a social construct, creating a class hierarchy. Original Venetian operas were considered as low culture to the influential middle class as they were the popular culture at the time and attended by lower class people who did not appreciate the art form (Giroux, Nealon 2011, 53). Uniforms in School The standard issue school uniform of khaki, navy and white once exclusive to the private parochial institutions is becoming a common requirement in public schools across the nation. This trend that was first suggested for public schools in 1980 by then D. C. mayor, Marion Barry, to help diminish the social stigma of low income students has grown significantly in both numbers and reasons (Lawrence, 2013). In 2010, it was reported by the National Center for Education Statistics, that nearly 19% of the nation s public schools now require a mandated school uniform (Campbell, n.d.). While there are quite a number of opponents to such a policy in the public schools, the benefits are numerous. Students following a school uniform policy are less likely to focus on clothing as a means for determining status) and may experience less stress from being judged by the type or cost of clothing they wear (Campbell, n.d.; Cascio, n.d.). All too often society is judged and defined by the clothing of an individual from its style to cost to fit. By removing this outward factor as a labeling status, students are placed on a more even playing field leaving competitions for the sports fields rather than the classroom runway.
