Theory Of Morality As A System Of Hypothetical Imperatives...
Circular Reasoning in Foot s Moral System
In Morality as a System of Hypothetical Imperatives , Philippa Foot argues against Immanuel Kant,
that morality exists in hypothetical imperatives rather than categorical imperatives. For Kant,
categorical imperatives alone serve as moral commands, and it would be impossible for a moral
system to be based on hypothetical imperatives because such imperatives serve as means to ends and
result from maxims that cannot be universalized into perfect duties. Despite this, Foot holds that
acting on many hypothetical imperatives can be morally praiseworthy and can even serve as the basis
of moral judgments. Although I agree with Foot that hypothetical imperatives can have moral worth,
in this paper, I will argue that a morality based on the purposes that hypothetical imperatives are
directed toward appears to be circular. To do this, I will explain Foot s theory of how morality is
known and binds. Then, I will argue that this theory is insufficient to explain the moral purpose that
hypothetical imperatives must be directed toward, thus begging the question of what is the moral basis
of the purpose directed toward in the hypothetical imperative.
To base morality on a system of hypothetical imperatives, Foot begins by explaining Kant s distinction
between hypothetical and categorical imperatives. According to Kant, a hypothetical imperative can
be contrasted with a categorical imperative in that it commands an action that is good to some

Pros Of A Conscientious Objector
In this essay I will talk a little bit about conscientious objector. First of all what is a conscientious
object? Well a conscientious objector where the eligible men who opposed to serve in war because it
was against their deeply held moral or religious belief.
The first thing a person can think and ask is why they didn t want to serve in war and help their
country. There were many reasons some of them are for example religion and moral values. Men didn
t want to carry a weapon and kill people, some came to their beliefs on historic peace church. Actually
the ones from religion where more on consideration because of their beliefs, but the ones that didn t
want to go were punished.
Government has two main classification for conscientious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He said that another alternative can be JUSTICE. Ali became a prominent speaker at college campuses

Every year, 15th May marks International Conscientious Objector day is a day to celebrate those who
have and those who continue to resist war, especially by refusing to be part of military structures.
As an opinion actually there was nothing wrong about refusing to join the army everyone has the right
to say aa simple no. it s understandable that in that period of time the military forced needed help
because they were having a rough time at war but they have to understand that men were scared and
that for them killing someone really meant something it wasn t as simple as that. It wasn t fair to
punish the conscientious objectors it wasn t fair to put them in jail or a death sentence. I appreciate
every men that refuse to kill because that means that they were good people. And those who served in
the army are good too but that doesn t mean they are better than the ones that didn t went to combat. I

Use Of Satire In George Orwell s Los Vendidos
Throughout the history of writing, satire has been used to bring light toward political and social issues,
the book, 1984, by George Orwell being one of the most popular novels to do so. This dystopian
future novel highlights issues such as, government control, discrimination, and social diminution. The
discrimination highlighted in this novel can directly be applied toward another work of literature, Los
Vendidos by Luis Valdez. Both writings have assisted in breaking down racial discrimination through
the use of satire and sarcasm. Nevertheless, racial and social discrimination continues to be prevalent
across the world, shaping the minds of future generations and diminishing the thoughts of the present
generation.
Coincidently, Orwell s novel was written shortly after the end of World War II, with the Soviet Union
previously ruling over half of Europe. In this novel, Orwell portrayed that the citizens of Oceania are
controlled by Big Brother, in both their private and public life. The depiction of Big Brother, which
closely resembles that of Joseph Stalin, is portrayed nearly as a God, with those opposing him
constantly being vaporized . Orwell further addresses how easily governments are to turn toward
totalitarian policies, Big Brother taking control of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Orwell uses numerous other reoccurring symbols such as the use of the slogans, War is
Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength, (pg. 6) Orwell introduces these slogans early in the
novel, highlighting the use of propaganda by Oceania. The constant use of political propaganda
displays to the reader how living in a society where individual thought is suppressed can weaken the
strength of the individuals minds and instill fear into the society, making the Party s influence

Descriptive Experience Of A Restaurant
The Wool Growers Basque Restaurant is located on the East side of Bakersfield. The location is in a
bad part of town. The outside of the building doesn t look very appealing and the location is
surrounded by old buildings and old neighborhood houses. As I arrived I was surprised to see a full
parking lot.
When I entered the restaurant I encounter a heavy crowd in the bar section. I was shocked to see only
white people from old to middle age. As I was walking down the hall to the dining area, I could see
many pictures of family generations. My classmates were there already, so we sat down and ordered
our meals. The place was packed! It seems like this is a very traditional family restaurant. All the
tables were occupied with grandparents, parents, and children. I could guess, there were about 150
people, and only Eva, Angie, Mirna, the waiter and I were Mexicans! I m assuming that many of the
clientele has been going to this restaurant as a family tradition. It was a neat experience. The food was
good.
Vallarta Supermarket
There are several Vallarta supermarkets in Bakersfield, but I usually frequent the one on Panama Road
close to freeway 99. It s cleaner and less crowed. I m amazed by the large variety of fruits and
vegetables. Vallarta has more variety of Mexican and Central American produce than any other stores
in Bakersfield. Every time I go there, it reminds me of the Mercado from Mexico. The store s
costumers are mainly Hispanic, but I can see a

Introduction
The purpose of this critical inquiry is to investigate the relationship between product analysis and the
discipline of Design and Technology (D T). It is also intended to serve as a foundation for developing
a handling collection that can hone in on ideation using biomimicry at its base to enhance and develop
learning at the Key Stage 3 level.

To learn through hands on learning using a collection of objects is a powerful pedagogical experience.
Physical objects have a remarkable capacity to motivate and to inspire. They arouse the urge to
understand. The pupils interests will stir, their curiosity and creativity will be stimulated and their
research skills will be enhanced.
Gail Durbin together with others, writing in 1990, refer to the ability to interpret objects aids our
understanding of the world . It is important to distance oneself from the concept of a right answer , the
pupils should feel free to try out and to share their theories and ideas.
Active Learning
The most important quality in teaching is active learning. This is the process of deploying a variety of
senses to interact with a task or activity. Active learning aids independent education by putting the
emphasis of problem solving on the learners. This is critical for the modern day learning environment
because everyone learns in different ways; it meets the learning capabilities of different levels.
Bringing energy into the classroom can making subjects more accessible through naturally
differentiating the learning and making it more accessible and enjoyable. In the work area, it brings
subjects to life through interaction with a variety of media. If used

Theirs landed 3.55 seconds, and had a very soft landing with very little impact. One of their strengths
was definitely the amount of balloons they had attached to their contraption to increase drag.We had
some very important strengths and weaknesses that we discovered in doing this experiment. One of
our weaknesses was the lack of balloons we had to increase drag, thus reducing the impact to a lower
level. We had two main strengths. the first strength was the cotton surrounding the popsicle stick
protecting platforms. The cotton prevented less impact even though there wasn t any drag to slow the
fall. The other strength we discovered was the amount of rubber bands we had used on the contraption
to keep things tight, steady, and in place. The rubber bands help out a lot, especially when you re
dealing with trying to stabilize popsicle stick platforms and securing the egg. if I had the chance to fix
or add any supplies, or build anything on the contraption differently, I would definitely increase the
amount of balloons to help with cushioning and slowing down the fall, and build a different kind of
platform that would be more sturdy and easy to work

Introduction:
A biometric is defined as a unique, measurable, biological characteristic or trait which is used to
identify individuals. Most widely used biometric characteristics to identify individuals include Face,
Fingerprint, Hand geometry, Retina, Iris, Voice etc.
Biometric identification consists of two stages:
Enrollment: During the enrollment stage, a sample biometric is acquired from the individual. Unique
characteristics this sample are then extracted to form a biometric template which is used for
subsequent comparison.
Verification: During the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most widely used biometric trait for this Biometric Encryption include Fingerprint, Face Recognition,
Hand Geometry, Iris Scan, etc.
The key is generated again only if the correct live biometric sample is provided on verification. The
digital key (password, PIN, etc.) is randomly generated on enrolment, so that the user (or anybody
else) does not even know it. This key is independent of biometric so, it can always be changed or
updated. The Biometric Encryption template can be stored either in a database or locally (smart card,
laptop, cell phone, etc.). On verification, the user presents their fresh biometric sample (which acts as
decryption key), which retrieves the same key or password [2].
Applications of Biometric Encryption:
Access control
Biometric ticketing
Biometric boarding cards for travel
Identification, credit, and loyalty card systems
Consumer biometric payment systems etc.
Advantages of Biometric Encryption:
No retention of the biometric image or template.
The key is completely independent of biometric thus can easily be changed or updated.
Single biometric for multiple accounts.
There is no need to memorize long passwords.
Improved security of personal data and communications.
Greater confidence, trust, and use of biometrics by the public.
Major challenges for Biometric Encryption:
Loss of individual control over one s personal data.
Data matching, surveillance and profiling.
Significant security risks, especially

00:00 The bird, flute, starts off with a high pitch and a quick tempo.
00:02 Sounds like something falling, like the bird swooping down, there is also a little decrescendo.
00:06 The flute comes in again.
00:10 The dynamic becomes a little bit louder then it was before.
00:22 There is a high but soft pitch here.
00:24 The wolf, horn, comes in here with a slower tempo and a lower pitch.
00:30 The dynamic becomes louder.
00:40 Flute comes back in this time louder then before and then goes into a decrescendo.
00:49 The original volume comes back out of nowhere.
00:57 Multiple string instruments come in at this point.
01:00 The last note is quick and sharp with a high pitch. In this composition the listener is able to tell
that there is some form of interaction between the bird and the wolf since both of the instruments that
represent them are used. The listener can assume that the way the bird kept the wolf distracted was by
flying over him and trying to get the wolf to keep his attention on the bird.

Private Key Infrastructure Advantages And Disadvantages
Q1:
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a popular encryption and authentication approach used by both
small businesses and large enterprises for exchanging information based on, it make securely

foundation of a PKI is the certificate authority (CA), which issues digital certificates that authenticate
the identity of organizations and individuals over a public system such as the Internet, and the
certificates also used to sign messages, ensures messages are not been tampered.

Symmetric encryption is also known as private key encryption and secure key encryption.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SYMMETRIC encryption
ADVANTAGES
A symmetric Encryption is faster.
In Symmetric Encryption, encrypted data can be transferred on the link even if there is a
possibility that the data will be intercepted. Since there is no key transmiited with the data, the chances
of data being decrypted are null.
A symmetric Encryption uses password authentication to prove the receiver s identity.
A system only which possesses the secret key can decrypt a message.
DISADVANTAGES
Symmetric Encryption have a problem of key transportation. The secret key is to be transmitted to
the receiving system before the actual message is to be transmitted. Every means of electronic
communication is insecure as it

Dysfunctional families are a relatively common occurrence, and they often are consumed by their

they all are the result of various problems. The family unit of Joe, Mrs. Joe and Pip, a lower class
family faces very different problems from the family that is Ms. Havisham and Estella, a middle or

they have an accident or when you have potential new clients to inform them on how serious your
company is about the quality of repairs that you have your own body shop to do the repairs. The
advantage of keeping everything in house would be cost effective because the money is not switching

on how to scam the insurance company on ways to make the total claim amount higher so in turn the

Essay about The Unique Similarities Between Taste and Sight
Of the five senses that humans employ in everyday life, taste and sight are two of the more interesting
senses. They are continually developed throughout our entire lives and we are exposed to new sights
and tastes everyday. Many people think that our senses are all unique and independent of each other,
but taste and sight are surprising similar in many aspects, such as their development. Not only are taste
and sight developed similarly, but they are also affected by familiarity, socialization, and memory.
Although many people in the world believe that all our senses are different in function and
development, taste and sight have a unique connection between the two senses that makes them very
similar.

Their taste in food is clearly based on socialization, creating a diet that would maximize their
performance at the job they performed on a day to day basis. Sight also has a large association with
familiarity. Many of the everyday things that humans see in the world do not surprise them at all, as
they have seen those things throughout their whole lives. Some images and objects, however, invoke
many emotions from a person, such as anger or fear. Humans, therefore, try to see only things that
they are familiar with. Most humans do not want to see images of war, poverty, death or destruction,
and they, therefore, try to steer clear of such images. As Thomas Gray once said, ignorance is bliss,
which allows humans to block out disturbing images in order to make them feel happier and more
secure about their lives with the images they are familiar with. Socialization also plays a large part of
our sense of sight as humans. During infancy is when the majority of our learning takes place and our
sense of sight is no exception. Babies learn from the area and culture that they are born into, which
affects their visual perception of the world. People born into the culture of third world countries
become more accustomed to seeing things like poverty and war, while many people in first world
countries would be unfamiliar with those images. Being familiar with a

this time was very difficult because there was changes being made all the time and most of the time
there were more and more restrictions going on. Also, many people would do demonstrations in public
places and that is when things would get out of hand because many people wanted to stand up for their

Chapter 4 Persepolis There was many restrictions from the government that only made people even
more upset because they were being restricted things that would make them more happy in such
difficult times. Something that this chapter reveals about the life in Iran is that there were many things
that people were not allowed to do, and violence would be used against them. Many people like Marji
s father would take pictures of the demonstrations to see how they were going. My father had gone to
take some photos of the demonstration but this time he was very late... he took photos every day, it
was strictly forbidden. He had been arrested once but escaped at last minute (Satrapi 29). This scene is
significant because, it shows that their government was mostly based off restrictions and what people
should do and not do, having a certain type of expectation. Even though people were highly abused by
the police, when caught doing things like taking pictures, the people would still take the risk and did
what they thought was best for themselves, at this point people were starting to not take it anymore

Character Development In Ralph Ellison s The Invisible Man
Character development within novels with complex plot structures proves to be a difficult task
necessitating the author to add their own inner thoughts and experiences to weave a more realistic
story. The historical background of a writer helps glean on information about that person s
unconscious and subconscious processes that become apparent within an author s literature. As the
author develops their thoughts throughout a novel attempting to paint a clearer picture of their
purpose, their own persona becomes a part of the literature. Psychoanalytic theory attempts to further
this claim by taking information from one s childhood, inner taboo thoughts and hidden motivations,
and synthesizing them for a better picture of the author s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ellison relays this when his narrator is under the spell of the reefer, and discovers a new analytical
way of listening to music (Ellison 8). Although the man despises the feeling of altered time that reefer
is associated with, he can appreciate the sensitivities of music within the manipulated psychological
state of mind. Without Ellison s own experiences with music and the feelings of euphoria it brought
upon him, it would be nearly impossible to relay such clear messages of passion within the novel. This
character in the very beginning of the novel was one that had been satisfied with his life and decided
to remain actively dormant to the outside world, but as Ellison tells his story, music is mentioned in
multiple instances. As he attempts to find a job, Mr. Emerson s son tells him that a number of my
friends are jazz musicians...I know the conditions under which you live Why go back? (Ellison 188)
Ralph Ellison understands the struggle that musicians go through to make a living, especially in places
where opportunities are extremely few. Anywhere other than Harlem, the narrator would be unable to
find anything to do with his talents. This may be a feeling the younger Ellison himself also felt, the
competitiveness and the limited scope of opportunities that musicians had may have forced him to
move into the North and even take his talents into the area of writing. Ellison s childhood experiences
with music inspire him to write

Theme Of Porphyria s Lover
Violence towards a woman who was once desired and wor shipped by men appears to be a recurring
motif in Browning s po ems. Porphyria s lover is one of the earliest dramatic mono logues by Robert
Browning in which he explores the mind of an insane male lover. Browning reveals the changing
thoughts and feelings as well as the emotional disorder of his speaker. The reader often perceives a
gap between what the speaker says and what he actually reveals. The poem depends upon the reader s
abil ity to make inferences as well as to analyze the speaker s attitude towards Porphyria since he does
not give any background informa tion. It is also possible to argue that the withdrawal of the author
from the text, or his refusal to give you moral guidance after plac ing a difficult question or situation
before you, he must believe one of three things; that no guidance is needed because the case is ob
vious, or that no guidance is possible because you must see the truth yourself, or that it does not really
matter if you come up with the same answer he does. In Porphyria s lover we can sense Browning s
interest in psychological analysis, he liked to take ab normal behavior or unconventional characters
and analyze them.
Over View
Within this poem there are two main characters, the villainous man and the proud woman. The lover
describes how he waited for Porphyria to visit him during a stormy night, which probably pro jects his
inner state of mind. He sees a sullen wind which I feel is

Chinese people are used to a relatively strong hierarchical structure. Promotions at work are in many
cases based on age before ability. The young, in turn, are deferential and
respectful to their older co workers and business associate, the advice and opinions of an older
worker are generally valued more than the words of a younger person. In Lithuania there are
differences between young entrepreneurs and older businesspeople. Younger businesspeople generally
have a less bureaucratic approach. Management style in China tends towards the directive, with the
senior manager giving instructions to their direct reports who in turn pass on the instructions down the
line. It is not expected that subordinates will question the decisions of superiors that would be to show
disrespect and be the direct cause of loss of face (mianzi) for all concerned. In a business negotiation
or meeting setting space orientation will be private more physical distance between individual
participants and no physical contact but office situation space is more large open spaces are filled with
many desks.  Management strategies As a manager you should act in a more flexible, improvised
manner. If one wants to successfully coordinate work with a Chinese, one tends to have more
communication to stay in his mind. They tend to be conservative in management and slow to change
those things that are tied to the past. Lithuanian managers

Rem Kohol
The Maison a Bordeaux is a home just outside of France in the late 20th Century designed by Rem
KoolHas . In 1994, a couple approached KoolHaas with a request. The husband had been in a terrible
car crash that left him in a wheelchair and unable to move around his old home. He needed a new one
that would give him the freedom of mobility back. The husband had one unexpected request. He said,
This house is my world; please make it as complex as possible . His other requirement was that there
should be no visual evidence of his disability. According Melhuish, the Maison à Bordeaux is
representative of shifting social and living patterns, she goes on to say that The precise, but open

and synesthetic experience that could compensate for the newly imposed restrictions on the client s
life, and allow for an inhabitation of the house in the imagination as well as by the body . Five years
later this wish became reality . The house is divided into three sections, the upper floor, the middle

Renewable Energy
Topic
Canada should subsidize renewable energy options such as wind and solar power in order to increase
the share of renewables in Canada s energy balance.
Introduction Canada government subsidizes a number of socially beneficial services, including health
care, education and energy services. Subsidies to the energy sector mainly are for oil and gas
production, however, they are not all socially beneficial[figure 1]. In fact, they have negative impact
for the environment and hinder developments of environmentally friendly alternative energy options.
Indeed, Canada s implementation of the Kyoto Protocol is seriously threatened by continued
government support for oil and gas production, a sector with large and rapidly ... Show more content

However, it can also be problematic because it confuses an end (goods and services valued by
consumers) with a means (labour)[3]. Increase in energy price will cause price distortion and result of
inefficient production in the market, it tend to reduce consumers and producers net benefit, and it lead
a higher production cost to domestic goods, which will become more costly to compete in the world
market.
Policy Implication In case to shift Canada s energy balance toward renewable energy without
externalities, we need government s actions. One possible way is to raise tax on the amount of carbon
emitted to the atmosphere. If taxes are appropriately calculated, they can help raise the marginal costs
of producers of non renewable energy to equal the social and environmental costs that their activities
create. Countries such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Finland, Switzerland and
the Netherlands have already adopted carbon taxes[3]. Sweden, for example, raises US$1 billion per
year from its carbon tax and approximately US$10 billion per year in energy taxes, some of which is
part of a tax shift that goes to help develop renewable energy[3]. Paul Anderson, the CEO of a major
carbon dioxide emitting power company in US, he said reducing greenhouse gases has become a
worldwide political and social imperative... It is an imperative where American

Flood Narrative ( Genesis 6-9 ) Vs. Epic Gilgamesh And...
Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) vs. Epic Gilgamesh, Tablet XI The Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) and
the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that are undeniable, yet many noticeable
differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly common in any flood narrative and the differences
often lie behind the reasons, responses, and decisions made by the main characters. In both texts, each
of the main characters, Noah and Uta napishti, were ordered to build an ark or a boat due to an
incoming flood. In Genesis, God tells Noah, Make yourself an ark of cypress wood, make rooms in
the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch (Genesis 6:14). Noah obeys God s orders and indeed
builds an ark. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Uta napishti ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is logical to due to the fact that Noah only had his family and animals on the ark, while Uta
napishti has his family, friends, animals, silver and gold, and all valuables needed to reestablish the
earth once the floods had passed. Once the floods did indeed pass, the Noah s ark stopped in the
mountains of Ararat and Uta napishti s boat stopped at Mount Nimush. However, both Noah and Uta
napishti had to wait and make sure that the floods had truly stopped. Genesis reads, The waters
continued to abate until the tenth month...on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains
reappeared (Genesis 8:5). Similarly, Epic Gilgamesh reads, One day and a second, Mount Nimush
held the boat fast, allowed it no motion, a third day and a fourth, Mount Nimush held the boat fast,
allowed it no motion (Gilgamesh, XI, 143 145). It s a coincidence that both of these mountains are
located in the Middle East. After enduring a catastrophic flood, Noah and Uta napishti had to remain
in their shelter for days on end. Nevertheless, these men are admirable for their dedication and
perseverance. Unfortunately, Noah had to persevere significantly longer time than Gilgamesh. In the
Epic Gilgamesh, the flood only lasted six days and seven nights: For six days and nights, there blew
the wind, the downpour, the gale, the Deluge, it flattened the land. But the seventh day when it came,
the gale relented, the Deluge ended

Getting Divorced? Know About All The Associated Tax Deduction You Can Take
Getting a divorce can be an expensive process, but know that those costs will not necessarily cost you
their face value. It s possible to benefit from some tax deductions because of a divorce, which could
get you some of that money back.
Alimony
Are you the one that is giving alimony payments to your former spouse? If so, know that you are able
to deduct those alimony payments when filing your taxes. The main thing to know is that only court
ordered alimony payments are considered a deduction on your taxes, and those payments must be
made in cash. If you give your spouse something that is worth the value of the alimony payment, you
cannot deduct it on your taxes. Additional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, those still living within the same home as their former spouse would not qualify for a tax
deduction.
Alimony Fees
For those on the receiving end of alimony, you will have to claim that income as taxable income.
Thankfully, you can also deduct any fees that are related to your alimony payments. For instance, if
you met with a lawyer for an alimony hearing in court, then you can deduct legal fees related to the
alimony. If you need to modify the alimony payment after the first agreement was made, those costs
can be deducted as well.
Keep in mind that there are limitations on how big of a deduction you can take. In general, if the fees
are less than 2% of your AGI (adjusted gross income) then you should be fine.
Tax Consultation Fees
Taxes will play a big part of a divorce, and chances are that you will be talking to your divorce lawyer
about it at one point or another. Any time you talk to your lawyer about taxes, take note of it and
determine what the billable cost is for their time. These consultations you receive about taxes can be
considered a tax deduction as well. Just make sure that you are not including any billable hours
towards your actual divorce, since those are not tax related.
For more information about tax deductions related to a divorce, speak with your lawyer about it. After
all, that time spent discussing it will be deductible in the

of the novel. Interestingly, the characters have been the subject to numerous scholarly studies, from

During this time, Wang Lung s uncle is in need of money to support his family. His uncle blackmails
him into giving him the silver, otherwise the name of his family will be disgraced. A while after this
incident, a great famine rises throughout Wang Lung s area. The other citizens are starving, and Wang
Lung s uncle begins to spread lies about Wang Lung and his family. These lies bring the hungry
citizens into Wang Lung s house and they begin to cause trouble, but the understanding voice of O
Lan calms them down. Wang Lung decides to head south, since the famine has destroyed his land and
his home. Down south, the family finds that they each get a bowl of rice every morning, but they have
to beg for their pay. Wang decides that he cannot beg and he takes the job of a ricksha driver. During
one of these days, he sees army men pull poor men off the streets, and there is soon talk of war and
rebellion. One night, the poor citizens are seen going through the nobles houses, and Wang comes

Powerful Learner
I am a powerful learner. I am an open minded learner. I know everyone is different and they like or do
different things. I don t like when people make other people do something they don t like or try to
make someone be just like them. I believe we are all equal and have the same rights. I don t believe
that If someone is famous and they manage to be pulled over that they can sustain getting away with
it, but if I get pulled over I don t get away with it. I made goals for myself this year. Most people make
goals for themselves but never achieve it or do it. Me being one of those people that do that. One of
the goals I made is that I want to be more well balanced. I don t try as hard as I should in gym class or
I never exercise. My other goal is to collect a 4 or more in my classes. I want to try harder this year
than I have ever tried in any of the other grades. My last goal is to be more of a risk taker. Every time
someone tells me to try something new I hesitate and don t try. I think too much about what could
happen. I am caring. I love to see people happy or excited about something. I hate seeing ... Show

just like Connor Franta. Connor is a great person. He has done so much upstanding things since the
day he started YouTube. He started on August 21st, 2010. He made a memoir called A Work in
Progress. Connor has talked to the whole world about his sexuality and how hard it was for him. I
have always wanted to travel the world and he has the opportunity to do that for fun. He has raised
money to make wells for small villages for a project called The Thirst Project. Connor has won awards

The Civil Rights Of The United States
Jury duty is a constitutional and fundamental right guaranteed to American citizens. Jury service is a
way for citizens to directly participate in the judicial system. Jury duty and jury trials have been
around for so long that people take it for granted. The jury was one of the factors that caused the
American Revolution because the English common law system did not allow alleged criminals to have
the sixth amendment rights that the United States has today. In fact, The Declaration of Independence
charged that King George III deprived the colonists of a trial by jury (United States Federal Judicial
Center, n.d). The Founding Fathers of the United States established the role of the jury and the right to
trial by jury in most criminal and civil cases in the Constitution but that clearly cannot be fulfilled
unless there are people serving on a jury.
The Constitution holds the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Amendment, which are the amendments that
involve the right to trial by jury. First, the Fifth Amendment provides for grand juries in criminal cases
that hear the evidence from the prosecutor and decide whether to issue an indictment. Second, the
Sixth Amendment declares, In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy
and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been
committed (U.S. Const. amend. VI). Third, the Seventh Amendment states that a jury can be requested
in civil cases if the matter of the

  • 3. Theory Of Morality As A System Of Hypothetical Imperatives... Circular Reasoning in Foot s Moral System In Morality as a System of Hypothetical Imperatives , Philippa Foot argues against Immanuel Kant, that morality exists in hypothetical imperatives rather than categorical imperatives. For Kant, categorical imperatives alone serve as moral commands, and it would be impossible for a moral system to be based on hypothetical imperatives because such imperatives serve as means to ends and result from maxims that cannot be universalized into perfect duties. Despite this, Foot holds that acting on many hypothetical imperatives can be morally praiseworthy and can even serve as the basis of moral judgments. Although I agree with Foot that hypothetical imperatives can have moral worth, in this paper, I will argue that a morality based on the purposes that hypothetical imperatives are directed toward appears to be circular. To do this, I will explain Foot s theory of how morality is known and binds. Then, I will argue that this theory is insufficient to explain the moral purpose that hypothetical imperatives must be directed toward, thus begging the question of what is the moral basis of the purpose directed toward in the hypothetical imperative. To base morality on a system of hypothetical imperatives, Foot begins by explaining Kant s distinction between hypothetical and categorical imperatives. According to Kant, a hypothetical imperative can be contrasted with a categorical imperative in that it commands an action that is good to some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well a conscientious objector where the eligible men who opposed to serve in war because it was against their deeply held moral or religious belief. Use Of Satire In George Orwell s Los Vendidos Throughout the history of writing, satire has been used to bring light toward political and social issues, the book, 1984, by George Orwell being one of the most popular novels to do so. This dystopian future novel highlights issues such as, government control, discrimination, and social diminution. The discrimination highlighted in this novel can directly be applied toward another work of literature, Los Vendidos by Luis Valdez. Both writings have assisted in breaking down racial discrimination through the use of satire and sarcasm. Nevertheless, racial and social discrimination continues to be prevalent across the world, shaping the minds of future generations and diminishing the thoughts of the present generation. Coincidently, Orwell s novel was written shortly after the end of World War II, with the Soviet Union previously ruling over half of Europe. In this novel, Orwell portrayed that the citizens of Oceania are controlled by Big Brother, in both their private and public life. The outside of the building doesn t look very appealing and the location is surrounded by old buildings and old neighborhood houses. As I arrived I was surprised to see a full parking lot. When I entered the restaurant I encounter a heavy crowd in the bar section. I was shocked to see only white people from old to middle age. As I was walking down the hall to the dining area, I could see many pictures of family generations. My classmates were there already, so we sat down and ordered our meals. The place was packed! Porphyria s lover is one of the earliest dramatic mono logues by Robert Browning in which he explores the mind of an insane male lover. Browning reveals the changing thoughts and feelings as well as the emotional disorder of his speaker. The reader often perceives a gap between what the speaker says and what he actually reveals. The poem depends upon the reader s abil ity to make inferences as well as to analyze the speaker s attitude towards Porphyria since he does not give any background informa tion. It is also possible to argue that the withdrawal of the author from the text, or his refusal to give you moral guidance after plac ing a difficult question or situation before you, he must believe one of three things; that no guidance is needed because the case is ob vious, or that no guidance is possible because you must see the truth yourself, or that it does not really matter if you come up with the same answer he does. In Porphyria s lover we can sense Browning s interest in psychological analysis, he liked to take ab normal behavior or unconventional characters and analyze them. Chinese people are used to a relatively strong hierarchical structure. Promotions at work are in many cases based on age before ability. The young, in turn, are deferential and respectful to their older co workers and business associate, the advice and opinions of an older worker are generally valued more than the words of a younger person. In Lithuania there are differences between young entrepreneurs and older businesspeople. Younger businesspeople generally have a less bureaucratic approach. Management style in China tends towards the directive, with the senior manager giving instructions to their direct reports who in turn pass on the instructions down the line. It is not expected that subordinates will question the decisions of superiors that would be to show disrespect and be the direct cause of loss of face (mianzi) for all concerned. In a business negotiation or meeting setting space orientation will be private more physical distance between individual participants and no physical contact but office situation space is more large open spaces are filled with many desks.  Management strategies As a manager you should act in a more flexible, improvised manner. The husband had been in a terrible car crash that left him in a wheelchair and unable to move around his old home. He needed a new one that would give him the freedom of mobility back. The husband had one unexpected request. He said, This house is my world; please make it as complex as possible . His other requirement was that there should be no visual evidence of his disability. According Melhuish, the Maison à Bordeaux is representative of shifting social and living patterns, she goes on to say that The precise, but open ended brief, suggested a design for a dwelling which could encompass a whole topography of physical and synesthetic experience that could compensate for the newly imposed restrictions on the client s life, and allow for an inhabitation of the house in the imagination as well as by the body . Introduction Canada government subsidizes a number of socially beneficial services, including health care, education and energy services. Subsidies to the energy sector mainly are for oil and gas production, however, they are not all socially beneficial[figure 1]. In fact, they have negative impact for the environment and hinder developments of environmentally friendly alternative energy options. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it can also be problematic because it confuses an end (goods and services valued by consumers) with a means (labour)[3]. Increase in energy price will cause price distortion and result of inefficient production in the market, it tend to reduce consumers and producers net benefit, and it lead a higher production cost to domestic goods, which will become more costly to compete in the world market. Policy Implication In case to shift Canada s energy balance toward renewable energy without externalities, we need government s actions. One possible way is to raise tax on the amount of carbon emitted to the atmosphere. If taxes are appropriately calculated, they can help raise the marginal costs of producers of non renewable energy to equal the social and environmental costs that their activities create. Countries such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Finland, Switzerland and the Netherlands have already adopted carbon taxes[3]. Sweden, for example, raises US$1 billion per year from its carbon tax and approximately US$10 billion per year in energy taxes, some of which is part of a tax shift that goes to help develop renewable energy[3]. Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) vs. Epic Gilgamesh, Tablet XI The Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that are undeniable, yet many noticeable differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly common in any flood narrative and the differences often lie behind the reasons, responses, and decisions made by the main characters. In both texts, each of the main characters, Noah and Uta napishti, were ordered to build an ark or a boat due to an incoming flood. In Genesis, God tells Noah, Make yourself an ark of cypress wood, make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch (Genesis 6:14). Noah obeys God s orders and indeed builds an ark. This is logical to due to the fact that Noah only had his family and animals on the ark, while Uta napishti has his family, friends, animals, silver and gold, and all valuables needed to reestablish the earth once the floods had passed. Once the floods did indeed pass, the Noah s ark stopped in the mountains of Ararat and Uta napishti s boat stopped at Mount Nimush. However, both Noah and Uta napishti had to wait and make sure that the floods had truly stopped. Genesis reads, The waters continued to abate until the tenth month...on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains reappeared (Genesis 8:5). Similarly, Epic Gilgamesh reads, One day and a second, Mount Nimush held the boat fast, allowed it no motion, a third day and a fourth, Mount Nimush held the boat fast, allowed it no motion (Gilgamesh, XI, 143 145). It s a coincidence that both of these mountains are located in the Middle East. After enduring a catastrophic flood, Noah and Uta napishti had to remain in their shelter for days on end. Nevertheless, these men are admirable for their dedication and perseverance. Unfortunately, Noah had to persevere significantly longer time than Gilgamesh. In the Epic Gilgamesh, the flood only lasted six days and seven nights: For six days and nights, there blew the wind, the downpour, the gale, the Deluge, it flattened the land. • 43. The Civil Rights Of The United States Jury duty is a constitutional and fundamental right guaranteed to American citizens. Jury service is a way for citizens to directly participate in the judicial system. Jury duty and jury trials have been around for so long that people take it for granted. The jury was one of the factors that caused the American Revolution because the English common law system did not allow alleged criminals to have the sixth amendment rights that the United States has today. In fact, The Declaration of Independence charged that King George III deprived the colonists of a trial by jury (United States Federal Judicial Center, n.d). The Founding Fathers of the United States established the role of the jury and the right to trial by jury in most criminal and civil cases in the Constitution but that clearly cannot be fulfilled unless there are people serving on a jury. The Constitution holds the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Amendment, which are the amendments that involve the right to trial by jury. First, the Fifth Amendment provides for grand juries in criminal cases that hear the evidence from the prosecutor and decide whether to issue an indictment. Second, the Sixth Amendment declares, In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed (U.S. Const. amend. VI). Third, the Seventh Amendment states that a jury can be requested in civil cases if the matter of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
