3d concrete printing with sustainability
Abstract:
3D printing is unprecedented innovation that promises to be extremely valuable as manufacturing
technology with a very various user. 3D concrete printing is an innovation of erection process that will
provide significant progress in construction industry. Construction execution is evolving frequently
due to growing challenge and complication in projects, which require efficient, safe, and fast method
to deliver their project. The 3D concrete printing will play important role in sustainability in terms of
optimizes recycled materials usage, consumption of energy, and environmental impact. With Final
design of the project one click can build multistory house in one day. Concrete is extruded throw
nozzle to construct structural component layer by layer without utilizing framework. The method will
apply the way we design building component easily with less error potential.
Introduction:
3D concrete printing or also known as Contour Crafting (CC) is invented at University of South
California (USC) and developed by Dr. Behrokh Khoshnevis. It can print various martials, metal,

The Museum Of Modern Art Website
I am always surprised at all the things people read into my photos, but it also amuses me. That may be
because I have nothing specific in mind when I m working. My intentions are neither feminist nor
political. I try to put double or multiple meanings into my photos, which might give rise to a greater
variety of interpretations. (Sherman) In 1977 artist, and feminist, Cindy Sherman created a series of
untitled film stills over a five year span. Each of these stills depicts Sherman playing a different role as
a woman in society. Although Sherman did not try to portray a message of feminism in her art, it was
inevitable during this time period. When looking at her stills, women now, and in the 80 s saw a
message of female empowerment. They saw a beautiful, confident woman making a statement and it
made them want to make a statement to. Even though these stills are not on display in a museum, they
can be viewed on the Museum of Modern Art website. After examining Sherman s thirty fifth film
still, it is clear that Sherman s work depicts a strong message about women of the late 70 s and the
early 80 s.
In 1954, Cindy Sherman was born in New Jersey. When she was twenty three years old she made her
first film still of a sixty nine untitled film still series. Each still made a statement about stereotypes that
exist in society. Many of these stills are black and white and focus mainly on facial expressions and
provoke emotion (Biography.com Editors 2014). Sherman always wanted to

Essay about Diamond Coated Machine Tooling
Diamond Coated Machine Tooling
Diamond is the hardest material known to man, in this day and age. Typically, diamonds have been
known to demonstrate hardness values up to 12000 HV (Vickers Hardness) or approximately
100HRC. Diamond coated Tungsten Carbide tools have demonstrated improved machining
characteristics over coated tool steels commonly used today. With the increased use of composites,
ceramics, and other ultra hard / lightweight materials in numerous industries, diamond coated machine
tools are becoming more common since their performance improvements generally out weigh their
increased cost.
This paper is an empirical summary of various research papers related to diamond coating processes

They are primarily used in the mining industry, but are also used for edge finishing of carbon fiber
composites and grinding hard materials like glasses and ceramics [2].
PCD (Poly crystalline Diamond) Coated Tools
PCD tools are similar to bonded diamond grit tools in that they both start with fine diamond particles.
However, the PCD method involves forming the particles into a dense sintered material using a binder
made from cobalt. These cemented compacts are then brazed into various shapes (for different kinds
of cutting tools) and brazed onto solid carbide tool bodies. The PCD tools edge can then be ground
down to a finished shape and even reground for tool sharpening purposes. PCD tools are over 50 years
old and are prevalent in the aerospace industry for drilling rivet holes into carbon fiber composite
materials. The automotive industry also uses these tools for machining of aluminum composites which
contain high silicone content (e.g. Al 390). These tools can be expensive, but are often the best option
for very high precision cuts and high impact loading [2].
CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) Diamond Tools
The main focus of this paper will be on CVD tools. Using CVD technology, diamonds are actually
grown (nucleated) onto the surface of a machine tool substrate. For this process to be successful,
careful attention must be paid to the substrate material selection. The

The Influence of Organizational Culture on Organizational...
Rizescu, M. (2011). Orgainzational Culture Influences on the Organization s Functionality. Revista
Academie ForTelor Terestre. 1( 61): 75 82. Globalization has brought the world closer in
communication, economics, politics, and especially business. The Internet and technological
improvements have allowed instantaneous communication almost anywhere, and even poor women in
India are using Smartphones to manage their banking portfolios. The idea of globalism continues to
break down cultural barriers. As this continues it will be essential for organizations to not only
understand, but embrace cultural differences and styles (Trebing and Estabrooks, 2005). Clearly, the
changing demands of global stakeholders require new ways of approaching divergent customer bases.
There are differences in style, skill, education and attitude in every organization now accentuated
when we think of the multi national organization. Correctly managed, this diversity can be a huge
bonus to the organization. Organizations are far more effective once they understand and use diversity
within their strategic and tactical planning process. Also, the new paradigm for global management
includes creating and maintaining a diverse work environment in which cultural diversity is encourage
and celebrated, rather than simply acknowledged (We need to identify and understand how our
differences impact our relationships with other employees and customers. We also must create and

Penalty Killing In Youth Hockey
How coaches undertake penalty killing in youth hockey varies upon the age, skill level, and number of
players on a team. I outlined the basic concepts in Chapter 11 but felt coaches of older teams or teams
with more advanced personnel would require a more in depth discussion. In particular, if you wish to
use all the skaters on a team with three forward lines and six defensemen the roster regularly seen in
minor hockey you will use combinations entirely different from a team with four forward lines. This
appendix shows the thought process to follow and a chart you can easily copy to set your rotations if
you have three lines. Use this information in conjunction with the text in Chapter 11. The intent is not
to change the basic principles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is possible to set up a full rotation using five defensemen, but I believe defensemen play stronger
when with their normal partner. This means I will ignore the player who is the partner of the man in
the box and play one of the defensive pairs twice during the penalty. As an example, if we label the
defense pairs as A, B and C, and assuming a defenseman from A takes a penalty, I would play B, then
C and come back with B. At thirty five seconds for each shift, one minute and forty five seconds will
have expired in the penalty. On the fourth rotation, I would follow the suggestion in the earlier bullet
point and pair the defenseman from A with a forward, awaiting the other A defenseman when the

Is there a Correlation between Gender and the Choice of a...
Have you ever wondered whether or not there was any correlation between gender and college major?
We conducted a survey consisting of 105 people (51 males and 54 females) and of those people,
34.3% (17 males and 19 females) did not think that there was a direct correlation between the two.
Our goal was to see if gender did in fact influence one s choice of major, or if it had no influence at
all. After proper surveying and thorough analysis of literature, we found that both female and male
students generally have college majors concentrated in certain areas and industries.
Literature Review
Females:
Through survey analysis and exploration of literature, we found that there was a correlation between
females and college major choice. Our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these articles are accurate examples as to a potential reason of females having specific college
majors. Social norms may have an impact on college major choice for women as well. Women tend to
be less motivated by the promise of monetary success and more by their passions. Our survey results
supported this social norm because the vast majority of females said that they chose their major
because they enjoy that field of study, whereas the vast majority of males said they chose their major
to obtain a high salary.
Males:
Through thorough research and survey analysis we were able to conclude that there tends to be a
higher population of male students pursuing Engineering and Business majors compared to all other
college majors. Not only is this true at North Carolina State University, but we also found this true for
other universities in the US as well. Out of 51 males who completed our survey, roughly 22 percent
informed us they were enrolled in some form of Business major, whereas only 8 percent of the
females surveyed were enrolled in a business major. Not only were there a higher percentage of males
pursuing Business majors, but there were also a higher percentage of males seeking an Engineering
degree. Out of 51 males surveyed 25 percent expressed they were currently enrolled in hopes of
seeking an Engineering degree, while only 2 percent of all females surveyed were

Money In Ayn Rand s Atlas Shrugged
In Ayn Rand s novel Atlas Shrugged the character Francisco d Anconia views money as a tool and a
symbol; something that can only come about by the hard work and ambition of men. He feels that a
love of money is justified, and is liberal in his employment it because he sees no arbitrary value in
money itself. This contrasts sharply with the view of James Taggart who sees money as a necessary
evil; something that must be controlled, and forced to work with the people. James Taggart is afraid of
money and what it has the power to do, so he attempts to limit it. You can see how this reflects Ayn
Rand s own views on the difference between communism and capitalism.
The difference in views between these two men is at the most basic level; that Francisco wants to
make money while Taggart wants to have money. As I said before, to Francisco and to all the good
characters money is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They see money as its own beast. It is a necessary evil that must be controlled. Because they cannot
draw the connections between the money and its source they cannot justify the love of money. They
either acknowledge and embrace that what they do is looting and decide not to care, or like James
Taggart they remain in denial and self deluded that what they are doing is for the public good . This is
a reflection of Ayn Rand s own views on communism; the belief that money must be controlled, and
that if left to its own it will undoubtedly become a negative force, a detriment to society. Because they
cannot understand why money is valuable (though they acknowledge that it is) they seek to have
money as opposed to making money. This is why they attempt to freeze the state of the nation, so that
they may remain in an eternal state of having not realizing that there must be motion and progress for
money to be made and to hold value. They have the effect without realizing the

TEMPEST Essay
The Other in the Tempest
In order to understand the characters in a play, we have to be able to distinguish what exactly makes
them different. In the case of The Tempest, Caliban, the sub human slave is governed largely by his
senses, making him the animal that he is portrayed to be and Prospero is governed by sound mind,
making him human. Caliban responds to nature as his instinct is to follow it. Prospero, on the other
hand, follows the art of justifiable rule. Even though it is easy to start assessing The Tempest in view
of a colonialist gaze, I have chosen instead to concentrate on viewing Caliban as the monster he is
portrayed to be, due to other characters that are not human, but are treated in a more humane fashion
than Caliban. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
his senses, while Prospero is ruled more by his intellect and self discipline i.e. his mind. Although we
are not given details of Caliban s birth, it seems likely that a creature as subhuman in appearance as
Caliban was not born of a human union. It has been postulated that, to quote Prospero, he was got by
the devil himself upon thy wicked dam, from a union between Sycorax and an incubus (an extremely
attractive male apparition with intention to tempt). Caliban was therefore a creature born from
passion, the offspring of an unholy pleasure. Prospero was not only of noble birth; he was also born to
be ruler of the city state of Milan. Nobility, in Elizabethan times, carried with it heavy implications: it
was expected that Prospero would be intellectually superior, and that he would exercise as great
discipline over himself as he was expected to exercise over others, in his role of leadership. From their
ancestry, Prospero is more ruled by his intellect, and Caliban by his love of pleasure. Caliban s
original love for Prospero and Miranda, and his later misdemeanour and subsequent hatred for them,
illustrate his fundamental reliance on his senses. Caliban loved Prospero and Miranda because they
made much of me ; and his response to this was purely sensual in his recollections: Thou strok st
me,...wouldst give me/Water with berries in t. What Caliban responded to, more than anything else,

The Awakening By Kate Chopin
Maternity Leave In The Worth of Women, Moderata stated, when it s said that women must be subject
to men, the phrase should be understood in the same sense as when we say we are subject to natural
disasters...it s not a case of being subjected in the sense of obeying, but rather of suffering an
imposition (Moderata). Throughout history, the inherent inferiority of women to men has often been
cited as a way to deter women from becoming an individual and pursuing more in life. This notion is a
prevalent issue in The Awakening by Kate Chopin; in which Edna fights to live her own way and is
ultimately unable to survive in the cage of society. Not only has this supposed inferiority effected
women for generations, but it has created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After years of following the gender roles that have been placed upon her she finally, was beginning to
realize her position in the universe as a human being, and to recognize her relations as an individual to
the world within and about her (Chopin 14). Edna has a personal awakening, in which she realizes that
she does not need to be held back, and she can escape from the cage she has been put in. Over time
she separates herself from the society around her, and begins to become more independent and free.
By overcoming the, indescribable oppression, which seemed to generate in some unfamiliar part of
her consciousness (Chopin 8), Edna becomes herself, and pushes away the people around her. She
alienates herself from the life she was raised in, and begins to live as she wants, and be who she truly
is. Most importantly, she [has] resolved never again to belong to another than herself (Chopin 76).
Unlike the fragile housewives who she acquaints herself with, Edna is able to discover the freedom of
being an individual. Although her husband and her friends continued to pressure her to return home,
she can no longer go back; now that she has a taste of a fulfilled life she can not return to her aimless
life of solitude. This revelation that overcomes Edna, the reality that she is living an unfulfilled life
that she must fix, ultimately becomes too much for her. The social

eBay Structures Its Bid For Change
Problem Statement Adoption of an improper organizational structure design that is not flexible enough
to the unstable and the rapidly changing external environment in eBay s domestic and international
markets.
Analysis and Evaluation
A functional organizational structure with various operational areas, such as finance, operations,
human resources, and legal units was adopted for the eBay during its establishment. In a functional
structure, workers and activities are organized into areas of their expertise or units given specific
functions. Therefore, the structure promotes efficiency and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With the exception of PayPal and Skype, the other companies joined the Marketplace category that
offers eBay main Marketplace activities. The Marketplace operation contributes the largest share of
the revenues for eBay, followed by PayPal and Skype with the lowest revenues.
In such a multidivisional structure, there are separate and smaller divisions that perform varying
functions. Every unit of the divisions is more focused in a given area, which makes the structure have
more ability to adapt to market changes than the functional structure. Nevertheless, this kind of
structure leads to duplication of management, administration, and staff activities, thus, there is
inefficiency in the use of functional resources, higher costs, and loss of economies of scale. The
multidivisional structure that was introduced in eBay was services centric because it was focused on
the kind of services provided in each division (Lee et al., 2015).
The changes that have occurred in eBay s organizational structure resulted in the current matrix
structure. This is because the activities of the Company are aligned along more than one line of
authority that is also applying the divisional and functional chains of command. As it is explained in
the case study, each of the three divisional units has a president and its functional areas. This kind of
structure

Oedipus asked to see Tiresias for evidence on the killer. Oedipus accuses Tiresias and Creon of treason

The Uglie Critical Analysis
According to Merriam Webster dictionary, the word realization is defined as, an act of becoming fully
aware of something as a fact. Being able to realize the ultimate desires and goals in life is apart of
each of the texts. In the book The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, the story shows characters realizing
objectives through point of view when Tally Youngblood is faced with the truth about getting an
operation to become pretty. Likewise, in The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri, the
message of realization is developed through symbolism of the narrator s experience in a new world.
The theme as shown in The Art of Resilience by Hara Estroff Marano is expressed through conflict.
The use of point of view, symbolism and conflict create the theme, a person must become self aware
to realize their goals, in the texts The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, The Third and Final Continent by
Jhumpa Lahiri, and The Art of Resilience by Hara Estroff Marano. In The Uglies, the lesson of
becoming self aware is communicated through the main character, Tally Youngblood s, point of view.
At first, Tally Youngblood longs to receive an operation to turn herself pretty after being viewed as
ugly most of her life. After she was denied the surgery because of complications with a friend, she
started becoming sensitive about the label given to her. The author wrote, She d been an ugly for four

it comes off as a rape because of the struggle Tajomaru was having but the samurai s wife eventually

Reasons For Australia s Involvement In The Vietnam War
After World War II in the 20th century, the United States and the Soviet Union were the new
Superpowers . These two major nations had two conflicting political ideologies which were stated as
Capitalism and Communism, and this had Australia right in the middle of the story. Since Australia
has very strong ties with the US, making it even stronger after involving in the Vietnam War and also
grew strong with the SEATO and ANZUS with the fear of the so called domino theory and the foreign
policies which including the Forward Defence Policy. This, however, allowed Australia to gain a

Vietnam was the first time Australian conscripts were sent abroad in peace time. Many protest groups,
like Save Our Sons, started off as anti conscription, but became anti war as the conflict dragged on.
Many men started to object to national service refusing to register or attend when called to serve. After
1968, men could be imprisoned for refusing to comply with the National Service Scheme. By 1969 the
anti conscription movement was no longer composed of just mothers groups and university students. It
had widespread support across all sections of Australian society. Major battles had many people
wondering if the Vietnam War was, in fact, winnable and for how long Australian soldiers were going
to be involved. One of the major factors in a growing anti war movement was the reporting of the
Vietnam War; it was a war fought on TV. No one could escape the horrors of what was happening
there. To set a conclusion, this essay shows that Australia feared the threats of Communist attacks to
gain power but since Australia and its allies, US and Britain, negotiated throughout the conflict and
played smart while thinking of the domino theory so they worked on preventing the enemies troops
from gaining access to Australia s Shores, so they fought in Vietnam to stop the threat having help

The Influence Of Family Sitcoms In The 1970 s
The family sitcom has always been a form of entertainment that has brought people together, and has

being faced by each family member generationally. Media and entertainment are often affected by the
social and political issues of their time. Many of these issues, and the way that these issues have

mother and father... (Stanley, 2012). This changed in the 1970s due to the economic and social
struggle inflicted by the Cold War and Vietnam (Stanley, 2012). Family size began to go down
because people could not afford big families anymore. This trend continued into the eighties when,
...the average family size dropped from 3.58 people in 1970 to 3.29 people in 1980... (Suro, 1991).
Because of financial struggle, family size was less of a priority for the average family. Another change
in the 1980s was that marriage was not valued as much as it was in previous years. When a group of
high school seniors were surveyed, there was ...a modest (4% 5%) decline in the late 1980s in the
fraction of female seniors saying that they thought it very likely that they would stay married for a
lifetime to the same person... (Thornton Young Demarco, 2001). Because of the lack of optimism in
the 1970s, young women were not as enthusiastic about marriage as previous generations. Because of
social, political, and economic struggles and advancements, family values changed between these two

Analysis Of The Right Stuff By Tom Wolfe
The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe chronicles the beginning of the United States space program and the
Space Race against the Soviets through the eyes of America s first astronauts and those around them in
the style of new journalism. The Right Stuff may seem like an odd title for a book about astronauts
and space exploration, as it appears to have nothing to do with either, but it is a theme that is explored
throughout the book. Put simply, the right stuff is a quality that a test pilot or astronaut possessed that
enabled them to be the best. It was not typical bravery, a person either had it or they didn t, and its
possessors seemed to be above the rules.
The right stuff was not only classic bravery as one would imagine, but bravery was certainly ... Show

Even so, there wasn t a specific test to prove if one had it or didn t have it. Instead, it was a continuous
pyramid of tests that one must conquer, and those who failed to prove themselves at any level of the
pyramid certainly did not have the right stuff. Wolfe notes that, ...the idea was to prove at every foot of
the way up that pyramid that you were one of the elected and anointed ones who had the right stuff
and could move higher and higher and even...that you might be able to join that special few at the very
top..., the very Brotherhood of the Right Stuff itself. Every level in the pyramid presented more
challenging demands where, ...the world was once again divided into those men who had the right
stuff to continue the climb and those who had to be left behind in the most obvious way. Those who
failed to prove themselves and were left behind most definitely did not have the right stuff and were
left to pursue a career in a less demanding wing of flight testing where the concept of the right stuff
did not pertain. In the early levels of the pyramid some people were left behind because they couldn t
take the coursework or were unable to complete a phase in their training such as carrier landings
Others were left behind because they were deemed medically unfit to take on the task of becoming a
test pilot, something that was beyond their control but was sometimes still seen as a failure. In the
higher and more dangerous levels of the pyramid some were left behind only because they were no
longer alive to continue climbing the pyramid. When faced with this reality some men would
voluntarily decide to no longer continue climbing the pyramid, although this meant sacrificing the
notion of ever having the right

The Effects Of Gratitude
Gratitude also reduces feelings of jealosy, makes our memories happier, lets us experience good
feelings, and helps come out of stress. Materialism is strongly related with reduced well being and
increased rates of mental disorder. There s nothing bad in hoping for more. The problem with
materialism is that it makes people feel less capable, reduces feelings of gratitude, reduces one s
ability to appreciate and enjoy the good in life, generates negative emotions, and makes them more
self centered.
Gratitude also increases your self respect. Imagine a world where no one helps you. Despite your
asking and requesting, no one helps you.
On the contrary imagine a world where many people help you all the time for no other reason than that
they like you. In which world do you think you would have more ... Show more content on

Gratitude is not just a fugitive emotion, but it is also a excellence. Grateful people are more tending to
the emotion, are prone to respond with gratitude to a wider range of beneļ¬cent actions, and are more
likely to notice beneļ¬cence on the part of others in particular, they are more likely to respond to it
with the emotion of gratitude rather than with alternative emotions like agony, shame, or guilt.
Grateful people are likely to agree with statements such as It s important to respect each day that you
are alive , I often feel how easier my life is because of the efforts of others, and For me, life is much
like a wonderful gift than it is a burden. Phrases such as these come from personality questionnaires
designed to express levels of gratitude in other words, to identify people who have by nature grateful

Analysis Of The Book The Crucible
Dusting off his cloak, he approached Drea s door. The moment he stepped up, he heard the loud scrape
of the bolt engaging, followed by the heavy clunk of the door bar being lowered. Strange, since Drea
knew he was to arrive at this time.
He knocked. Nothing. He tapped on the door with his knuckles again and again.
Drea? It s me.
Go away, Gawain. I don t want to see you ever again. If you want to see Wallace, make arrangements

What are you talking about? Drea, this is madness. You re joking, right?

Gawain stood firm. So what if his fellow knights dragged him off and he had to spend a day or two in

Aristotle Virtues
There are two kinds of virtues: moral and intellectual. Intellectual virtues are learned by experience
and time, whereas moral virtues are learned by habits and practice. Virtues are not given to us at birth
(nature); we have to make our own effort to train ourselves to be virtuous. In the next few paragraphs,
Aristotle emphasizes how pleasure and pain play an important role in how our moral virtues are
developed. To explain he uses an example of a glutton and a temperate person and the pleasure/pain of
food. Then he talks about how many people could be just but that doesn t necessarily mean that they
are virtuous. He proceeds to talk about his three criteria to determine if a person is virtuous. First

The Unknown Citizen Explication Essay

The Unknown Citizen
By W. H. Auden
Several conflicts are dramatized in The Unknown Citizen, the most prominent being: conformity of
the middle class, government manipulation, and the loss of individualism to the standards of an
average citizen. The speaker of this poem is non traditional as the poem is, in fact, an inscription on a
marble monument erected by the State. The inscription is dedicated to a JS/07 M 378 presumably, The
Unknown Citizen, although this term only appears in the title. The Unknown Citizen is essentially an
elegy, a lament for the dead, written by either a government official or a strong believer in the
government. This becomes clear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among his praises, for example: When there was peace, he was for peace: when there was war, he
went (24). In this, it becomes clear to the reader that you do not want to be an average citizen; you do
not want this to be your elegy. Some critics argue this, however, as Auden stating that there is nothing
disgraceful in being unknown. The poem is, above all, a satire of the way conformity hinders the
individual and leaves ridiculous and solely external distinctions between human beings. Auden
presents an allegory in The Unknown Citizen that begins even before the poem itself. The phrase
Unknown Citizen appears only once in the title. This term is an immediate allusion to and parody of
the Unknown Soldier, especially considering the details of who the poem is dedicated to and the fact
that it is found on a marble monument, much like those one might expect to see in Washington, D.C.
where the United States is home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Unknown Solider is a
soldier who cannot be recognized after being found in battle. This sometimes controversial idea can be
interpreted to mean that many people die as unknowns because they lived uninfluential lives. Aside
from this large allegory, the poem uses only a few rhetorical devices. In line four, for example, ...in the
modern sense of an old fashioned word, he was a saint is quite an exaggeration because being one
against whom there was no official complaint is hardly saintly (2). Another

Climbers Persuasive Speech
Imagine yourself getting ready to rescue a climber stuck on top of a mountain. There you are in the
helicopter reaching out to the distressed climber, but all of a sudden you fall down thousands and
thousands of feet to your death. You just risked your life to save someone who was not ready. People
putting their lives at stake for someone who was not ready is not acceptable.
The cost to rescue someone is unbelievable. According to Nick Heil The B3 cost about $2 million
apiece and quite expensive to operate (Van, line 54 56) This means that for every rescue they carry out
means more money they need to pay the bill but they also need to make a profit. Also, Robert Siegel
stated, Is a part of the issue here that these rescue choppers give climbers a false or at least, a rather
expensive sense of security, and that makes them more willing to take risks. That statement talks about
how climbers feel safe because they know they are going to get rescued, but they also know that flying

My Sleep On Sleep Patterns
I have fallen asleep every night for the last 22 years, but yet I never analyzed my own sleep pattern.
Never truly aware of what time I fell asleep, whether I dreamt every night, or the quality of my sleep.
All I knew was that the older I got, the more lethargic I got, and the more caffeine I consumed. Now
given the opportunity to monitor my sleep for five nights with the use of a sleep diary I have better
knowledge of my sleep patterns. Basing my sleep patterns on concepts learned in class, I was able to
understand my sleep, and apply different issues I experienced each night to the resolutions I learned.
Hopefully, after my sleep diary I will know how to improve my quality of sleep on a regular basis
based on concepts learned in class. On the first night I was on the verge of excitement about starting
my sleep diary so I fell asleep at 11:29 P.M. I assumed I would have a regular nights sleep, until I
heard my name being called. Feeling like I was in a horror movie I awakened instantly in fear, to a
cold sweat and rapid heartbeat. Let s face it, my name is not a common everyday name, so I was
terrified until I recalled hypnagogic hallucination. Hypnagogic hallucinations occur at the onset of
sleep (NREM) as the small, fast beta brain waves turn into large slower alpha brain waves (140). As I
checked the time it was only 11:32 P.M. making this the perfect explanation for this bizarre
phenomenon. I then proceeded to fall back to sleep, and woke up at 6:00 A.M. However

The Church Of The Christian Faith
Wesley believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illumined by
tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason. Stephen Gunter writes, Perhaps no
theological topic has been the focus of more debate with The United Methodist Church over the past
quarter century than the Wesleyan Quadrilateral . It should be noted that John Wesley never used the
term Wesleyan Quadrilateral to describe his process of theological affirmation. The Wesleyan
Quadrilateral has been misinterpreted to mean four equal sides; however, it was never meant to be
understood that way. Scripture is always the most essential authority for determining our beliefs and
practices. The Bible was so important to John Wesley s faith that he referred to himself as homo unius
libri or a man of one book (The Bible). John Wesley believed that Scripture was the primary source
for theological reflection and Scripture should be read and interpreted in context and as a whole. The
role of tradition in Methodist theological thinking is another important aspect of the Quadrilateral .
Ted Campbell writes, Methodism, Wesley claimed, was in continuity with the religion of the Bible, the
religion of the primitive Church, [and] the religion of the Church of England . John Wesley was trying
to illustrate that the tradition and history of the Church is vital to the understanding of our theology.
The apostolic church s beginning is something that we should be

Why And How Should We Regulate Coastal Fisheries
Why and how should we regulate coastal fisheries
Coastal fisheries of the UK offer a vast amount of importance to us for things like food and
medications, but after decades of over fishing and destructive fishing methods our fish stocks have
been left severly depleted. Across the UK there has been a lot of initiatives towards managing our
coastal fisheries to meet both environmental and economic goals. The need for regulating coastal
fisheries is not a new idea, it has been used for several hundred years. Currently there is 207 protected
marine protected areas implemented by the British government, one of the main ways we can regulate

priority to . There is now a large and growing gap between what is immediately needed and the rate of
progress that is being pursued. We are overfishing in our oceans. The commercial fish stocks of our
coastal waters are fully exploited or overexploited. The over exploitation and mismanagement of

The Importance Of Education In Baltimore
There are always two portraits of Baltimore: the one that is painted for you and the one that you have
physically seen. A majority of the people look at Baltimore from the prior portrait through news
media, television shows, musical theatre, etc. because they don t live there. Just like Flint s ongoing
water crisis or the Syrian civil war, there are problems that still exist in Baltimore, namely, the
inequities of the school system, even without being seen in the nation s eyes. It becomes clear when
you compare Baltimore s public schools with the other county s schools surrounding it. This can be
seen with the school buildings and the correlational socioeconomic and achievement gap.

Although it may be true in some parts of the city, it s not for the whole city. Baltimore is a place of
change and creativity, but it has been stigmatized to the point when politicians think, What s the point?
Why should I allocate more funds to a school district that I know will fail instead of a school district
that is bound to succeed? They want to make sure that Maryland looks good, so they funnel more of
the money to better school districts to negate the negative products that Baltimore brings. This is a
problem that cannot be fixed with the current system. Teachers know their students. They know they
have the potential to be better and do better. That s the principle behind asset based teaching.
However, due to Baltimore s notorious record, they do not provide it a chance. The numbers don t
reflect the students potential, so to politician s it doesn t make sense to go that direction. People say it
s not racism, but it is. Most of the money that is given to school districts are given to those with
primarily White populations. There are so many people in this country that think that racism doesn t
exist anymore since Lincoln s address, since the Civil Rights Movement, because they don t see the
blatant racism that occurs in everyday life, especially in Baltimore. For me, until I went to public
school, I didn t know what racism was. I was in a classroom of snow, but, even at a young age, I knew
that it was probably better for me to be White than to be any other color in the skin tone rainbow. The
students in Baltimore are at a severe disadvantage, but the hands of the local leaders of Baltimore are

Analysis Of Stairway To Heaven
No matter how many times somebody is asked to give an explanation to what the song Stairway to
Heaven really perseveres, different answers will be given every time. The song Stairway to Heaven
was written by Led Zeppelin in 1971. Throughout all these years, still everybody has their own
interpretation to the song, and they will respond differently based upon what the true meaning of the
song really is. The reason being is, the song represents many different values throughout it, and it is
the others choice to determine the outlook on it.
In 1980, Led Zeppelin could have had the biggest tour in the history of rock and roll. Although, this
never happened because one of the members, Rob Plant, refused to be a part of it. He rejected to
reunite with the rest of the group because he believed that no amount of money is worth having to sing
Stairway to Heaven. To begin with, when asked about Rob Plant s interpretation of the song, he
responded with I still interpret the song a different way and I wrote the lyrics. In addition, he believed
that the lyrics took some rough shots. In the beginning of it, he claims that it is meant towards a
woman who strives for money, only to find out the unpleasant way that is going to be keeping her
from reaching her stairway to heaven. Rob Plant had no other reason for stating what his meaning was
towards writing the song, but he did note that he saw it as a woman getting everything she wanted

Most teenagers have trouble waking up in the morning. Part of this is because they stay up later,
although part of it is biological. Communication and Intellectual Development From birth to 3 months
their main source of communication will be crying. At this stage babies have very little understanding
of what is happening to them and they do not know they are people. They will have different crying
sounds and these will depend on what the baby needs for example for hunger, pain, feeling wet, fear
and loneliness. At around 4 6 months old a baby will have developed an awareness of sound in
particularly a person speaking and will turn towards the sound when someone familiar speaks for
example their parents. They will start to mimic sounds and start to babble and laugh. Intellectual
development is rapid and although they may not be able to speak in more than just babble, their
understanding will be greater and they will become much more inquisitive. They will be able to
understand simple instructions such as point to your nose. By a year old, they ll be able to say simple
words like Mama and Dada or words with similar sounds. They may start to develop their own
language with odd sounding words for common objects that take their interest. Sometimes these words
will sound similar to the name of the object particularly if their parents spend time speaking to their
child and repeating the names of these objects.

A Brief Summary Of Settling The Continent
Chapter 1

sheets that covered more than 2,000 miles. The standard hypothesis is that of a Pan American
Highway. This Highway would have been created by an ice free climate along the eastern front of the
Rocky Mountains. Hunter Gatherers where able to get to the south through this ice free

  • 4. The Museum Of Modern Art Website I am always surprised at all the things people read into my photos, but it also amuses me. That may be because I have nothing specific in mind when I m working. My intentions are neither feminist nor political. I try to put double or multiple meanings into my photos, which might give rise to a greater variety of interpretations. (Sherman) In 1977 artist, and feminist, Cindy Sherman created a series of untitled film stills over a five year span. Each of these stills depicts Sherman playing a different role as a woman in society. Although Sherman did not try to portray a message of feminism in her art, it was inevitable during this time period. When looking at her stills, women now, and in the 80 s saw a message of female empowerment. They saw a beautiful, confident woman making a statement and it made them want to make a statement to. Even though these stills are not on display in a museum, they can be viewed on the Museum of Modern Art website. After examining Sherman s thirty fifth film still, it is clear that Sherman s work depicts a strong message about women of the late 70 s and the early 80 s. In 1954, Cindy Sherman was born in New Jersey. When she was twenty three years old she made her first film still of a sixty nine untitled film still series. Each still made a statement about stereotypes that exist in society. Many of these stills are black and white and focus mainly on facial expressions and provoke emotion (Biography.com Editors 2014). Typically, diamonds have been known to demonstrate hardness values up to 12000 HV (Vickers Hardness) or approximately 100HRC. Diamond coated Tungsten Carbide tools have demonstrated improved machining characteristics over coated tool steels commonly used today. With the increased use of composites, ceramics, and other ultra hard / lightweight materials in numerous industries, diamond coated machine tools are becoming more common since their performance improvements generally out weigh their increased cost. They are primarily used in the mining industry, but are also used for edge finishing of carbon fiber composites and grinding hard materials like glasses and ceramics [2]. PCD (Poly crystalline Diamond) Coated Tools PCD tools are similar to bonded diamond grit tools in that they both start with fine diamond particles. However, the PCD method involves forming the particles into a dense sintered material using a binder made from cobalt. These cemented compacts are then brazed into various shapes (for different kinds of cutting tools) and brazed onto solid carbide tool bodies. The PCD tools edge can then be ground down to a finished shape and even reground for tool sharpening purposes. PCD tools are over 50 years old and are prevalent in the aerospace industry for drilling rivet holes into carbon fiber composite materials. The automotive industry also uses these tools for machining of aluminum composites which contain high silicone content (e.g. Al 390). These tools can be expensive, but are often the best option for very high precision cuts and high impact loading [2]. Revista Academie ForTelor Terestre. 1( 61): 75 82. Globalization has brought the world closer in communication, economics, politics, and especially business. The Internet and technological improvements have allowed instantaneous communication almost anywhere, and even poor women in India are using Smartphones to manage their banking portfolios. The idea of globalism continues to break down cultural barriers. As this continues it will be essential for organizations to not only understand, but embrace cultural differences and styles (Trebing and Estabrooks, 2005). Clearly, the changing demands of global stakeholders require new ways of approaching divergent customer bases. There are differences in style, skill, education and attitude in every organization now accentuated when we think of the multi national organization. Correctly managed, this diversity can be a huge bonus to the organization. Organizations are far more effective once they understand and use diversity within their strategic and tactical planning process. I outlined the basic concepts in Chapter 11 but felt coaches of older teams or teams with more advanced personnel would require a more in depth discussion. In particular, if you wish to use all the skaters on a team with three forward lines and six defensemen the roster regularly seen in minor hockey you will use combinations entirely different from a team with four forward lines. Money In Ayn Rand s Atlas Shrugged In Ayn Rand s novel Atlas Shrugged the character Francisco d Anconia views money as a tool and a symbol; something that can only come about by the hard work and ambition of men. He feels that a love of money is justified, and is liberal in his employment it because he sees no arbitrary value in money itself. This contrasts sharply with the view of James Taggart who sees money as a necessary evil; something that must be controlled, and forced to work with the people. James Taggart is afraid of money and what it has the power to do, so he attempts to limit it. You can see how this reflects Ayn Rand s own views on the difference between communism and capitalism. In the case of The Tempest, Caliban, the sub human slave is governed largely by his senses, making him the animal that he is portrayed to be and Prospero is governed by sound mind, making him human. Caliban responds to nature as his instinct is to follow it. Prospero, on the other hand, follows the art of justifiable rule. Although we are not given details of Caliban s birth, it seems likely that a creature as subhuman in appearance as Caliban was not born of a human union. It has been postulated that, to quote Prospero, he was got by the devil himself upon thy wicked dam, from a union between Sycorax and an incubus (an extremely attractive male apparition with intention to tempt). Caliban was therefore a creature born from passion, the offspring of an unholy pleasure. Prospero was not only of noble birth; he was also born to be ruler of the city state of Milan. Nobility, in Elizabethan times, carried with it heavy implications: it was expected that Prospero would be intellectually superior, and that he would exercise as great discipline over himself as he was expected to exercise over others, in his role of leadership. From their ancestry, Prospero is more ruled by his intellect, and Caliban by his love of pleasure. Caliban s original love for Prospero and Miranda, and his later misdemeanour and subsequent hatred for them, illustrate his fundamental reliance on his senses. Virtues are not given to us at birth (nature); we have to make our own effort to train ourselves to be virtuous. In the next few paragraphs, Aristotle emphasizes how pleasure and pain play an important role in how our moral virtues are developed. To explain he uses an example of a glutton and a temperate person and the pleasure/pain of food. • 26. The Unknown Citizen Explication Essay Alek Haugen Advanced Placement English 12 Dr. Werner 05 March 2012 The Unknown Citizen By W. H. Auden Several conflicts are dramatized in The Unknown Citizen, the most prominent being: conformity of the middle class, government manipulation, and the loss of individualism to the standards of an average citizen. The speaker of this poem is non traditional as the poem is, in fact, an inscription on a marble monument erected by the State. The inscription is dedicated to a JS/07 M 378 presumably, The Unknown Citizen, although this term only appears in the title. In this, it becomes clear to the reader that you do not want to be an average citizen; you do not want this to be your elegy. Some critics argue this, however, as Auden stating that there is nothing disgraceful in being unknown. The poem is, above all, a satire of the way conformity hinders the individual and leaves ridiculous and solely external distinctions between human beings. Auden presents an allegory in The Unknown Citizen that begins even before the poem itself. The phrase Unknown Citizen appears only once in the title. This term is an immediate allusion to and parody of the Unknown Soldier, especially considering the details of who the poem is dedicated to and the fact that it is found on a marble monument, much like those one might expect to see in Washington, D.C. where the United States is home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Unknown Solider is a soldier who cannot be recognized after being found in battle. This sometimes controversial idea can be interpreted to mean that many people die as unknowns because they lived uninfluential lives. Aside from this large allegory, the poem uses only a few rhetorical devices. In line four, for example, ...in the modern sense of an old fashioned word, he was a saint is quite an exaggeration because being one against whom there was no official complaint is hardly saintly (2). According to Nick Heil The B3 cost about $2 million apiece and quite expensive to operate (Van, line 54 56) This means that for every rescue they carry out means more money they need to pay the bill but they also need to make a profit. Also, Robert Siegel stated, Is a part of the issue here that these rescue choppers give climbers a false or at least, a rather expensive sense of security, and that makes them more willing to take risks. Never truly aware of what time I fell asleep, whether I dreamt every night, or the quality of my sleep. All I knew was that the older I got, the more lethargic I got, and the more caffeine I consumed. Now given the opportunity to monitor my sleep for five nights with the use of a sleep diary I have better knowledge of my sleep patterns. Basing my sleep patterns on concepts learned in class, I was able to understand my sleep, and apply different issues I experienced each night to the resolutions I learned. Hopefully, after my sleep diary I will know how to improve my quality of sleep on a regular basis based on concepts learned in class. On the first night I was on the verge of excitement about starting my sleep diary so I fell asleep at 11:29 P.M. I assumed I would have a regular nights sleep, until I heard my name being called. Feeling like I was in a horror movie I awakened instantly in fear, to a cold sweat and rapid heartbeat. Let s face it, my name is not a common everyday name, so I was terrified until I recalled hypnagogic hallucination. Hypnagogic hallucinations occur at the onset of sleep (NREM) as the small, fast beta brain waves turn into large slower alpha brain waves (140). The Church Of The Christian Faith Wesley believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illumined by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason. Stephen Gunter writes, Perhaps no theological topic has been the focus of more debate with The United Methodist Church over the past quarter century than the Wesleyan Quadrilateral . It should be noted that John Wesley never used the term Wesleyan Quadrilateral to describe his process of theological affirmation. The Wesleyan Quadrilateral has been misinterpreted to mean four equal sides; however, it was never meant to be understood that way. Scripture is always the most essential authority for determining our beliefs and practices. The Bible was so important to John Wesley s faith that he referred to himself as homo unius libri or a man of one book (The Bible). John Wesley believed that Scripture was the primary source for theological reflection and Scripture should be read and interpreted in context and as a whole. The role of tradition in Methodist theological thinking is another important aspect of the Quadrilateral . Ted Campbell writes, Methodism, Wesley claimed, was in continuity with the religion of the Bible, the religion of the primitive Church, [and] the religion of the Church of England . John Wesley was trying to illustrate that the tradition and history of the Church is vital to the understanding of our theology. The apostolic church s beginning is something that we should be ... They want to make sure that Maryland looks good, so they funnel more of the money to better school districts to negate the negative products that Baltimore brings. This is a problem that cannot be fixed with the current system. Teachers know their students. They know they have the potential to be better and do better. That s the principle behind asset based teaching. However, due to Baltimore s notorious record, they do not provide it a chance.
