Expectancy Theory Of Motivation
The Expectancy Theory illustrates the mental process that employees endure when making decisions
while doing voluntary things. The theory describes that the effort will determine the performance and
the performance will help indicate the overall outcome. Expectancy represents the belief that exerting
a high level of effort will result in the successful performance of some task, (Dr. Creasy PowerPoint).
There are some advantages of the expectancy theory. One advantage is that it emphasizes on rewards
or pay offs, (Expectancy Theory of Motivation, n.d., para. 5). In Remember the Titans, Coach Herman
Boone, portrayed by Denzel Washington, expects big things out of his high school football team. As
the newly appointed head coach and a black man, Coach Boone was faced with big expectations or
else he would have to face the consequences. Coach Boone established that his team would show
tremendous effort in the fall football camp at Gettysburg College. He set ground rules as he told all of
his players that they would leave the school by 7:29 AM and made them all wear dress shirts, ties, and
a jacket. Coaches appreciate the athletes that display the expectancy theory because they want more
out of their team. At Gettysburg College, All American linebacker Gerry Bertier, confronted fellow
starting linebacker, Julius Campbell and wanted him to put in more effort during practice and play the
right assignment. As captain of the team, Gerry needed to assert himself and expect more from

The Life of Artemisia Gentileschi
Life of Artemisia Gentileschi
Italian Baroque painter, Artemisia Gentileschi was born in Rome on July 8th, 1593. Her father Orazio
Gentileschi, who was a painter himself, introduced Artemisia to the art of painting by giving her
lessons in his studio. At an early age, Artemisia displayed her interest in art and it wasn t long until her
father noticed potential in his daughter enough that she would be able to make a name for herself in
the male dominated career. Artemisia had the desire to follow in her father s footsteps, it was then that
Orazio encouraged her to follow her dreams and decided to begin training her as an artist. After
collaborating on a project with the painter Agostino Tassi, Orazio hired him to tutor Artemisia on
perspective due to his skills with landscape. During one of their lessons, Tassi took advantage of
Artemisia and raped her. In their time, if a woman was raped, the man who was responsible had to
marry her. I find it odd knowing that back then it was considered normal for a man to rape a woman
that he wanted to be with and marrying her after. Sounds to me like women had no choice, no say on
who they wanted to be in relationship with. Sadly, in many cases the men who committed the rape
would flee from the situation to avoid getting married after getting what they wanted. Even though the
women weren t at fault, if unmarried women weren t virgins they were seen as tainted, or no good for
another man. After the incident had occurred, Tassi had

Essay about chlamydia
CHLAMYDIA
What is Chlamydia?
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria. It is estimated that chlamydia is the
most common STD with 3 4 million new cases each year. Rates of chlamydia are highest in the West
and Midwest, part of the contry.
How is it Spread?
Chlamydia is spread by direct person to person contact. It is almost always transmitted through sexual
contact. It is also possible for pregnant women to pass the bacteria to their infant during birth.
How Do you Know if you are Infected?
Because symptoms are not always present, you may be infected with chlamydia and not know it. You
can be tested for chlamydia and other sexually transmitted diseases at your local doctor. To test for
chlamydia, the physician ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Infected persons can also transfer the infection to their eyes.
Are There Any Long Term Complications?
When treated early, there are no long term consequences of chlamydia. Serious complications can
result however when left untreated.
Long term complications in men may include:
Epididymitis an inflammation of the testicles that can cause sterility
Prostatitis an infection of the prostate gland
Reiter s Syndrome an autoimmune, arthritis like condition
Sterility
Long term complications in women may include:
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease an ascending infection that spreads from the vagina and cervix to the
uterus and fallopian tubes. PID can lead to sterility.
Perihepatitis an infection around the liver
Reiter s Syndrome an automimmune, arthritis like condition
Sterility
Chlamydia is very dangerous when passed to infants. It can cause eye infections, blindness, ear
infections, pneumonia, and death
How is it Treated?
Chlamydia can be treated with antibiotics. It is important that all of the antibiotics are taken as
prescribed, and that the infected person withhold from sexual intercourse during treatment. Proper
hand washing is essential, as the bacteria can be transferred to the eyes.
All sex partners should be informed to seek treatment. Because chlamydia is often silent, they may not
show symptoms of the infection until long term consequences have
occurred.

The Ionic Frieze Of The Parthenon
The ionic frieze of the Parthenon was considered by the Italian traveler and antiquarian Cyriac of
Ancona as one of the noblest images of the Parthenon. The ionic frieze measures some 160 meters, or
524 feet, and is visible along the upper walls of the cella in addition to across the two porches. Cyriac
was one of the first individuals to have sketched the figures on the frieze. The subject of the ionic
frieze according to Cyriac was the victories of the Athenians . The Doric frieze of the Parthenon in the
past presented 92 polychromatic carvings. The building upon which the frieze was built in the ionic
style was Doric. The two styles of design do not mesh, and did not occur at simultaneous periods in
history, making the presence of the ionic frieze something of a mystery. The general meaning of the
frieze at large, comprised of many parts, has thereby been drawn into question. While the frieze in in
superior condition than other elements of the Parthenon, such as the metopes, pediments, and
akroteria, much of it has nonetheless been lost, leaving open room for interpretation. The lack of
consensus over the meaning of the contents of the Parthenon is due in part to the height of the frieze.
Travelers in the 2nd century A.D., centuries before Cyriac, had noted the pediments; however there
was no discussion of the frieze. This may have been due to the fact that the frieze was too high.
Conversely, and as will be explored below, some of the legends therein

The Great Wall Research Paper
The Great wall is an important part of China that stands out as one of the interesting features one hears
when researching or visiting China. The wall was made to keep off the raiding nomads who kept
raiding China s northern frontier. The wall was initially a frontline defence for the imperial China of
that time. Currently, the nation is second largest world economy courtesy of the rapid economic
growth in the coastal region of the country for which the great wall is a part, Nelamangala
Vishwapathy, (2015). From the clear point of sight, the wall looks like a very long winding dragon. Its
stretch of about 4000 miles from the east to the west. The very construction of the wall is so vast that
it gets into the league of the largest building projects in human history. In fact, in recognition of the
architectural endeavours and the historical significance of the wall, United Nations Education,
Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) put the wall its record as one of the World Heritage
List, Jing, (2015). Amazingly, this great wall was not constructed one. It continues to be built and
developed further even though the process of building the wall dates back to the 7th Century. The
construction of the wall became necessary because of the wars that dominated the times around the
7th century. The wall is made from packed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

some repeatedly want to look at the towers and pass more than twice and even then no one says that

Narmer Palette Essay
The Narmer Palette originates from Hierakonpolis, Egypt and dates back to the Early Dynastic period.
The Palette is a double sided two dimensional raised relief with multiple registers on each side. It is a
statement of the political authority in early Egypt and uses depictions of the king, those subservient to
the king, and the king s ability to cause change to demonstrate political authority. For example, on
both the recto and the verso the king is depicted as the largest figure, this use of size places the figure
into a social perspective, revealing its importance and providing enough information to infer the
figures social status as a ruler. Additionally, the recto and the verso of the Palette show the king as
being the only figure wearing a large headdress and wielding a scepter; both of which can be seen as
symbols of power that further implicate the importance of the king. Subsequently, the king s location
at the top of the social hierarchy would enable him to have control over other people. The Palette first
illustrates this control on the recto in the largest register. This register depicts the king standing in ...

reminiscent of a military march or a funeral procession. Whether it is either of the two is uncertain,
however the mass grave depicted in the register is a definite signal of political change or conflict.
Political change, especially unstable or violent political change, can negatively impact the subjects
under a ruler s authority. The mass grave depicted in the register containing decapitated bodies is one
possible example of the consequences of violent changes in political

Russians and Br Essay
In the early nineteenth century, Slavic peoples from multiple empires in eastern and southern Europe
began to pursue a movement to protect and organize Slavic culture. In 1848, this movement became
more political. It gained a reputation and an attempt was made to unify all Slavic peoples. This
movement became known as Pan Slavism. Pan Slavism appealed to many Slavs who felt nationalism
towards their race. However among the Slavs, there were many different opinions. Some believed that
there was a cultural, ethnic, and political connection among all Slavs. Others argued that there was no
place for Pan Slavic goals in the present empires. Above all, the cultural and political issues in the

He believed that nationality was not only determined by language, but also by customs, religion,
government, and way of education. In 1848, he published an article called Slav and Czech , in which
he stated that the name Slav is and should always remain a geographical name.
br
br Bulgarian poet, Christo Boter, who strongly believed that only small federations of Slavs, in
accordance to location should be built, shared a similar yet different view. This is because if only
small federations of Slavs would be built, then the Slavs within these federations would share similar
beliefs, culture, and political systems. As a result, no nationality would be offended. In addition, not
every Russian wanted the uniting of other Slavs with Russia. In 1915, Gabriel de Wesselitsky, a
Russian journalist, declared that that Pan Slavism was supported by only the weakest and most
oppressed. He argued that the supporters of Pan Slavism would visit Russia to complain of their
suffering and discrimination, and try to unsuccessfully provoke Russian sympathy.

br Many Russian rulers believed that it was their duty to unite their Slavic brothers. Russia s motive
for this was patriotism as well as expansion. In his Manifesto, Tsar Nicholas II stated that faith, blood,
and historical tradition united the Slavic peoples of Russia. He argued that Russia was always
concerned with the fate of the Slavs. However many Russians claimed that Pan Slavic goals involved

Jazz Workshop And Class Material Essay
Jazz Workshop and Class Material The Jazz Workshop, Wednesday night, was conducted by Professor
Madsen. There were two other groups that performed before the workshop. Those were two bands
were the Rich Armandi Combo, coached by Rich Armandi, and the
Funk Combo, coached by Chris Madsen, and the Jazz Workshop, conducted by Professor Madsen, and
special guest Victor Garcia. All three groups did an outstanding job. They had many moments that I
could hear were very similar to what we have been learning in jazz history. It was interesting to
actually hear everything that was being taught in class being exercised in the concert. In this paper I
will be talking about the concert as well as the parallels that showed up in the concert that relate back
to what our class has been learning.
In the first group, the Rich Armandi Combo, did really well over all. When listening to the combo
there were many things that stood out. You can hear the basic jazz techniques, the drum keeping time,
he never stops or goes off beat. In the second song the combo performed Forest Flower was very well
done, the trumpet added to the song. I thought that some of the trumpet playing sounded similar to
Miles Davis. This was because the trumpeter was playing in a middle register, but not to low. Just like
Davis would play, the trumpet also had great a great sound for the long notes she was playing in the
pieces. The third song they performed

Earth Bound Telescopes
Clearly the better and stronger our telescopes and other methods used to evaluate the sky will result in
further discoveries. Not only do we have Earth bound telescopes; we have telescopes in the sky that
can get even closer to other matter whether that be planets, stars, comets, asteroids, etc. The textbook
also notes radial velocity and how the gravitational pull of a planet results in the star wobbling. If the
wobble happens to occur along our line of sight to the star, then we see small fluctuations in the star s
radial velocity, which can be measured using the Doppler effect (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371)
allowing us to estimate the mass of the planet (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371). I found this website:
http://www.planetary.org/explore/space topics/exoplanets/how to search for exoplanets.html that gives
three ways. They are noted as radial velocity (already stated); transit photometry (having to do with
the brightness or lack thereof of a star when another planet passes between it and the Earth (How to
Search for Exoplanets)), and Microlensing (stated as the only real method that is capable of
discovering other planets at huge distances from Earth (How to Search for Exoplanets)). It further
notes that while radial velocity can identify them within 100 light years, transit photometry can
identify them more than 100 light years (100 s in fact), and transit photometry can find those that are
thousands of light years away. I need to understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Far Do You Agree That Mussolini Rise to Power Was Due...
Mussolini rise to power through the use of violence is widely evident as it is summed up in this
Mussolini himself for my part, I prefer 50 000 votes to 5000 votes . Alternatively, there are also many
other factors that shows Mussolini did not depend on violence but however considered it a useful tool.
This could be from his foreign policy, effort with socialist trade unionist and his effort in gaining
political power legally. As Fascism began as a radical socialist movement, it was only inevitable that
radical measures be taken. Mussolini use of violence mainly relied on the squadristi. This was his
main instrument of violence and it was made up of a group of paramilitaries, the famous black shirts.

His oratory skills along with his influence on the press such as Ill popolo d italia provided a huge
benefit to the fascist party. This is shown in 1921, Mussolini was forced to step down and was to be
replaced with D annunzio however, the 2 factors stated above recognized the huge power and
influence Mussolini had therefore felt they needed him in order to maintain the support base for
fascism. Mussolini also appealed to most aspect of life and had good relations with the church
particularly the pope and the south. The south came to support the fascist as they provided funds in
order to keep the business running. The church was also taken by Mussolini as he introduce a range of
measures i.e formally dropped proposals to tax church property. This is summed up by pope puis xvi
saying:
Mussolini has a proper understanding of what is necessary for this country in order to rid it of the
anarchy to which it has been reduced by an impotent parliamentarianism
This shows that although terror was used in order to gain power, the squadristi actions was justified as
certain groups of people welcome this action and violence was only extensively use during the
beginning of the fascist regime. However, we can later see Mussolini tries to gain power by legal
methods, such as running for office and appealing to the masses which in time, replace the violence
used during the early period of the fascist

Raskolnikov s Ethics Of Care
Ethics of care is a theory that tries to explain actions as right or wrong. Held defines ethics of care as a
well defined theoretical approach that stands for an alternative to moral theories such as deontological
and utilitarian ethics. She argues that ethics of care focuses more on personal relationships and
communal ties. While bringing in the concepts of cluster of practices and values into care, she gives a
description of a caring person as one who possesses appropriate motivation to care for others and who
partakes adeptly in effective practices of caring (Held, 2006). She goes on to support the notion of
limiting both market provisions for care and the need for legalistic thinking in ethics, insisting that

His name is derived from the Russian word raskolnik, signifying dissident or isolated, which is proper
since his most principal character attribute is his distance from human culture. His pride and
intellectualism lead him to abhor whatever is left of mankind as fit only to sustain the species.
Interestingly, he trusts that he is a piece of a first class extraordinary man hierarchy and can therefore
go against morals for a greater good. On the other hand, that blame that torments him after he kills
Alyona Ivanovna and Lizaveta and his repeating faintness at the notice of the homicides serve as
verification to him that he is not made of the same stuff as a genuine superman , for example,
Napoleon. In spite of the fact that he thinks about the choice to admit for the vast majority of the novel
and however he appears to be bit by bit to acknowledge the truth of his average quality, he stays
persuaded that the homicide of the pawnbroker was supported. His definitive acknowledgment that he
adores Sonya is the main power sufficiently solid to rise above his imbued hatred of humankind.
Raskolnikov s associations with alternate characters in the novel do much to light up his identity and
comprehension of himself. Despite the fact that he thinks about Razumikhin, Pulcheria Alexandrovna,
and Dunya, Raskolnikov is so made up for lost time in his distrustful viewpoint that he is regularly
unappreciative of their endeavors to help him. He swings to Sonya as a kindred transgressor of social
standards, however he neglects to perceive that her wrongdoing is vastly different from his: while she
genuinely gives up herself for the purpose of others, he basically carries out his wrongdoing for his
purpose alone. At last, his association with Svidrigailov is baffling. In spite of the fact that he detests
the man for his debasement, he likewise appears to need something from him maybe

Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train
Christina Baker Kline, a very accomplished writer, produced the work of Orphan Train which quickly
rose to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, and there is no question why. This was a novel
about adventure, discovery, persevering, and learning to love life. It was based between a series of two
different time periods one being during 2011, which is Molly s story. She meets a 90 year old woman
who has had many identities during her time. She tells Molly about her travels as an orphan during the
1930 s. These stories are very similar in their type, even though they were many years apart. Molly
and Vivian are both orphans, they have both encountered tragedies, hope, and most of all loss. They
have come to feel at times as if the world were to fall apart, and the ground might break from beneath
their feet, however they found ways to move past the mournfulness and frightening times. Kline has
written a page turning masterpiece that paints a picture for the audience, the lives of orphans and how
they persevered through the unbearable times. Molly and Vivian both encountered times, where they

Hobbes State Of Nature
Q1. Explain and evaluate Hobbes s argument that life in the state of nature is solitary, poor, nasty,
brutish, and short.
For Hobbes, there is no worse condition for men than to live in the state of nature, or for him: a
constant state of war (Hobbes, year: 41 de cive). Hobbes believed that, in the absence of an absolute
ruler men would kill each other as there exists a right of all to all. The proposed quote sums up
Hobbes s vision of society without government. However, it is less clear the extent to which his view
of humans, in such a state, is accurate or even applicable. This essay will firstly explain Hobbes s
pessimistic view of human nature; the main causes of conflict which lead to the war of all against all
(Hobbes, year:); and finally, his theory of natural rights and laws in the state of nature. Then it will
move on to evaluate the validity of his claim by showing contradictions and problems to his theory
and thus alternative views of human nature, and the applicability of his state of nature taking into
account his historical context and other societies.
In contrast with Plato s view of men as Zoon Politikon, Hobbes asks why humans cannot act more like
bees or ants. He sees humans in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Many of the protesters occupying Wall Street and other places say they are upset about the rising price
of going to college. There is little dispute today that the number of students who have debt has

incur large amounts of debt that will never pay dividends in higher wages or greater job satisfaction,
and they graduate into a world with weak employment prospects. It s a betrayal of the American social

should completely cancel student loan debt to stimulate the economy (Caffentzis, 31). However,
history has shown that in the case of tax rebate checks, people tend to spend any rebates to pay off
other existing debt, or they simply save them. This does little to stimulate the economy, and one
suspects that the same would happen with across the board loan forgiveness (_Harris_).
However, there are several measures that can be taken to make college more affordable. Let s start
with the student loan and grant system. The government should increase the number of need based
Pell Grants awarded to students, but there should also be more grant money given to the students
willing to chose a cheaper public college or start their academic career by attending community
college. Most colleges would consequently want to keep their tuition costs low to remain attractive to
prospective students. This goes hand in hand with the fact that administration

How Did The Us Constitution Lead To The Failure Of The...
Imperatively, President Woodrow Wilson envisioned a world parliament which was exerted at the
Paris Peace Conference. However, the non existent relationship between United States and the League
of Nations was a vital decision in which lead to the failure of the League of Nations and the uprising
of another world war. The key element of the creation of the League of Nations was that nations
should summon and solve major issues through discussion rather than war. Its purpose was to
strengthen international relations and improve cooperation among foreign powers, ultimately creating
an atmosphere fostering world peace. Conversely, U.S Congress hesitated to join threatened by the
policy of isolationism. The belief that the League would endanger

Causes Of Refugee Women In Rohingya
Bangladesh is an impoverished country of over 160 million people. In its short history as an
independent nation, Bangladesh has faced an Independent war, massive internal displacement, famines
and frequent natural disasters. In addition, Bangladesh is hosting over 200,000 Rohingya refugees
from Burma in the eastern region(AKM.Ahsan, 2011 p.139). The Rohingya ethnic minority of Burma
are trapped between severe repression in their homeland and abuse in neighboring countries.
Bangladesh has hosted thousands of Rohingyas fleeing persecution for more than three decades, but at
least 200,000 Rohingya refugees have no legal rights there (Samima Kayoko,2014 p.225). They live
in squalor, receive very limited aid and are subject to arrest, extortion and detention. Refugee women
and girls are particularly vulnerable to sexual and physical attacks. In the registered refugee camp
their movement is highly restricted; they have no permission to go outside from the camp. In the camp
they live in small shed which is allotted for 7 members (Source). There is no electricity and have not
any recreation. They have no work in the camp. So they become very frustrated and it directly affects
women through violence. For the purpose, the study aims to shed light on violence against womenin
Rohingya camp. It intends to analyze the root causes of violence against refugee women and
investigate who is the perpetrator of violence.

Fear Of The Unknown In The Crucible
Realized or not, it is in the innate nature of humans to fear something that they are unfamiliar with. A
surgeon fears his first time in the operating room. An expecting mother is apprehensive of her first
delivery. A new student is trepid about his first day at a new school. The fear of the unknown has for
long defined and constrained the boundaries of societies and the actions of man, and has been, is, and
will continue to shape and affect our decisions. Fear of the unknown creates, promotes, and maintains
paranoia and disunity in a community in times of crisis. The God fearing and overly religious nature
of the populace of Salem Village helped give birth to the hysteria and chaos of the Salem Witch Hunt
in 1692. Fear of the unknown played a crucial role in sustaining and promoting the hysteria created by
Abigail Williams very first accusations. In Act I, Tituba, the Caribbean slave serving Reverend Samuel
Parris is accused by Abigail, who claims that she [Tituba] makes us drink blood and dream corruptions
(Miller 43, 44). Abigail then continues to elaborate on the supposed misdeeds Tituba influences her to
carry out, and accuses her of tempting her and laughing in her sleep (Miller 44). Reverend John Hale,
Thomas Putnam, and Reverend Samuel Parris fully accept these blatant accusations, owing to their
devout belief in Bible and God, and due to their fear of the unknown which, in this case, is of Satan.

Analysis Of Nathaniel Bacon s The Name Of The People
In Bacon s Declaration in the Name of the People , Nathaniel Bacon lists every major offense of Sir
William Berkeley, many of which collide with one another to display how the governor s actions and
inactions built upon each other to create turmoil for the people of Virginia. However, Berkeley
defends himself and proclaims Bacon a traitor in, The Declaration and Remonstrance of Sir William
Berkeley his most sacred Majesties Governor and Captain Generall of Virginia . In order to gain the
king s favor, both men write separate declarations, but one has everything to lose while the other has
everything to gain.
The first of the offenses listed by Bacon is the demanding of unjust taxes which are not being used to
better the colony at least not for the underclass; thus, Berkeley has also been accused of abusing his
power as governor. With the purpose of monetary gain, Bacon applies for a trading license but is
denied by Berkeley and the council, which consists of many of Berkeley s cronies. This leads Bacon
to make the allegation that Berkeley has made a monopoly of the beaver trade which is true but
Berkeley only denied Bacon s request because he knew Bacon wanted more power and where there is
money, there is power.
In the midst of the two men s quarreling, the lower classes of Virginia are demanding land. They begin
to migrate to Indian Territory and are consequently murdered by the Indians. Though there is an army
at his command, Berkeley does not use them against the

Gus Van Sant s Elephant
Van Sant s film represents the reality of high school, focusing on the look of its beauty, characters,
while also ignoring the basic grime inherent on most campuses. Van Sant takes pride in portraying a
valuable image. What s in the room really touches you if it is closely examined. The hallways and the
fields of the school are in pristine condition, staying abnormally clean, almost too clean for a school.
Despite this seeming glorification of the building, the hallways are kept as a constant secondary to the
sharply focused characters the camera constantly follows. This really takes the focus away from the
bare walls and empty hallways and places it directly on the students. The film isn t about the location
that it occurred, but more about the people that it happened to. The focus is on the students of the film,
both figuratively and literally. The camera appears to look like it s never stop moving. It does halt for
brief pauses that seem to relax the viewer. There is some frustration upon watching because you can t
collect all the data you need to deconstruct the film. However the scenes do go go back and forth with
each other sometimes. At one point you may notice that you re following a student and it will cut into
the perspective of another student whom will pass by the student that was originally being followed.
This sort of filming can cause confusion but employs a nice twist to the film. The plot doesn t post the
events in chronological order. When a

Apollo And Achilles
The Trojan war hero, Achilles, and the Greek god Apollo share an uncontrollable rage, which revealed
itself throughout The Iliad. An example of their wild anger is at the beginning of The Iliad, when
Agamemnon irrationally took two women to be slaves for himself and Achilles. Chryses, the father of
Agamemnon s servant, pleaded to the god Apollo for assistance in returning his daughter home.
Infuriated, Apollo sent plague carrying arrows upon Agamemnon s camp for nine consecutive days. In
a fiery argument with Agamemnon, Achilles was seriously considering killing Agamemnon, but
Athena intervened, and the furious Achilles swore that Agamemnon would become the core of the
wrath of Zeus. Both Achilles and Apollo acted rashly and wickedly towards

Essay on The Fifty
The Fifty First Dragon
Settings: The first setting is in a knight school where Gawaine is taught how to be a knight. It also
takes place in the forest where he beheads all the dragons and is almost fooled into being eaten.
Plot: This story is about a student becoming a knight with no spirit at all named Gawaine le Coeur
Hardy. He was considered the least promising of all the pupils. The headmaster of the school thought
he make better of Gawaine. He discussed about Gawaine with the Professor of Pleasaunce about how
to make him more enthusiastic about training as a knight. Then they thought about training him as a

He asked the dragon, and the dragon tries to trick him so he can eat him. At the last minute, he
remembers the magic word, but it is too late to say the word. He swings the ax anyway and beheads
the dragon. He comes back and tells the headmaster what had just happened. The headmaster tells him
that there is no such thing as a magic word and tells him that he has been doing everything all on his
own. The professor says that he was able to slaughter fifty dragons in less then a year.
Characters: Gawaine le Coeur Hardy: He seems pretty cowardice from the beginning of the book and
still cowardice close to the end. He had no spirit as a knight early in the book and I don t know why he
even tried to become one. At the end he achieves a record of fifty dragons, but is devoured. The only
thing they could find of him were the metallic parts of his medals. They couldn t even find the
ribbons. He made a record for that school that has never been equaled.
The Headmaster: The only reason that Gawaine ever got that far was because of the headmaster. The
headmaster gave him spirit, but after the headmaster told him the truth, I think Gawaine lost his spirit
again. I think that is probably how Gawaine dies.
Conflicts: The first conflict was to get Gawaine to be more enthusiastic about being a knight. This was
resolved by training Gawaine to be a dragon slayer.

The Psychosexual Stages Of Development
Psychosexual Stages of Development In the second essay of his Three Essays on Sexuality (1905),
Freud theorized that every child is born with innate sexual impulses that develop as the child grows.
He proposed stages of psychosexual development that each child goes through until he or she reaches
puberty. This chapter investigates if these stages of development are in fact, universal and the nature
of their presence in the cultural society of Hindu India. According to Freud (1905), the new born child
s innate sexual impulses can only be observed in the child once he reaches the age of three. He stated
that the development of this infantile sexuality took place in a periodic and oscillating manner after a
brief period of development, it is suppressed in a state of latency till the sexual development takes
over. Although he states that he does not know the reason for this pattern, he also adds that it is during
this period of latency that the aesthetic and moral ideals develop which by feelings of disgust and
shame restrict the flow of the sexual instinct. These ideals develop inherently, even without any help
from external education. While the impulses are not ceased entirely during the period of latency, their
energy is diverted to other ends by the process of sublimation and results in the development of the
individual (ibid: 176). While the final outcome of the sexual development is the pursuit of pleasure
from a single, primary erotogenic source directed towards a

Essay on Jewish Perceptions of Jesus Christ
Jewish Perceptions of Jesus Christ
Christianity and Judaism are major world religions which, though they worship the same God, have
marked differences which have caused two thousand years of strife and animosity between the two
religions. In his book We Jews and Jesus, Samuel Sandmel likens the link between Judaism and
Christianity to a type of parent child relationship, saying, Early Christianity was a Judaism; within a
century after the death of Jesus it was a separate religion. It was critical of its parent, and hostile to it,
and elicited from its parent reciprocal criticism and hostility. 1 Opposing views of Jesus Christ caused
the initial rift between Judaism and Christianity and is the primary source of the tension between ...

According to the Talmud, Jesus was actually an illegitimate child. In a passage narrated in the Tract
Kallah, 1b (18b), Rabbi Akibah says to Mary, Tell me, what kind of son is this of yours? to which
Mary responds, The day I was married I was having menstruation, and because of this my husband left
me. But an evil spirit came and slept with me and from this intercourse my son was born to me. 3 The
Talmud (the Babylonian Talmud in particular) refers to Jesus as Son of Stada/Satda and Son of
Pandera ; these titles are not used clearly, but it is evident that both are used in reference to Jesus, and
scholars have inferred their probable meanings. Sanhedrin 67a states that The son of Stada was son of
Pandera. Rab Chisa said: The husband was Stada, the lover Pandera. . . his mother was Miriam, the
women s hairdresser; as they would say. . . S tath da to her husband ; S tath da means she was
unfaithful or she proved faithless, and is obviously used in reference to Mary s lack of faithfulness to
her husband.4 According to this passage, Stada was Jesus legal father (Mary s husband), and Pandera
was his biological father, Mary s alleged lover. Stada is also used as a nickname for Mary, again, in
reference to her alleged infidelity. According to Jewish

Media s Influence On The Socialization Of A Child
As media technology now offers various ways to access TV contents, such as on the Internet, cell
phones and iPad, it leads children to spend more time watching animations and movies. According to
a Kaiser family foundation study, 8 10 year old children expose average 7 hours 51 minutes to media
in a typical day. 11 14 year old children and 15 18 year old children spend average 11 hours in a day.
(Victoria et al.) Children thoroughly perceive and accept the concepts from media, so it is the
powerful medium and cramming education method that control consciousness and create the
imitation. Animations and movies, as the most accessible media, significantly have an effect on the
process of socialization of children to form personality traits and the concept of the gender.
Gender has been portraying stereotypically for a long period in the history of media. Media plays a
very vital role in the socialization of a child or even adult, through different the storyline, characters
and dramatization of different genders through different theme and portrayals. Traditionally, media
have broadened the representation of male. In the presence of male and female characters in animated
cartoons, 67.4% characters were male and only 32.6% were female. It showed that male characters out
numbered female characters in the animated cartoons broadcasted from the worldwide popular
channel, Cartoon Network.(Ahmed, Shumaila, and Juliana A. Wahab) Disney s new face, Pixar

Positive And Negative Effects Of Dictatorships
I have always found the human need for power and domination interesting, which is why I choose it
for the Research Project. I am interested about how the Dictatorial style of government affects the
overall growth of the humanities globally. My goal for this project is to research and understand the
positive and negative effects of dictatorships on the academic growth as well as growth in the
humanities. There are clear negative effects like the loss of literature in countries such as Germany,
where specific types of book from certain eras were burned. In addition to that there are positives such
as leaders focusing on education more than other areas of government spending. The paper that would
be written using the information gathered through research on this topic would be persuasive, arguing
that though there are some positive effects, dictatorships have an overall negative impact on intellect
and the humanities.
My working research question is: Are the net effects of dictatorships on the areas of the humanities
including art and literature as well as academics as a whole positive or negative? My corresponding
thesis statement is: On the grounds of global loss of art and literature as well as suffering academics,
dictatorships have a negative effect on the country they govern as well as the world as a whole. I will
research historical occurrences of dictatorships globally. In addition to that I will research the effects
on academics in specific countries. I will also

  • 2. Expectancy Theory Of Motivation The Expectancy Theory illustrates the mental process that employees endure when making decisions while doing voluntary things. The theory describes that the effort will determine the performance and the performance will help indicate the overall outcome. Expectancy represents the belief that exerting a high level of effort will result in the successful performance of some task, (Dr. Creasy PowerPoint). There are some advantages of the expectancy theory. One advantage is that it emphasizes on rewards or pay offs, (Expectancy Theory of Motivation, n.d., para. 5). In Remember the Titans, Coach Herman Boone, portrayed by Denzel Washington, expects big things out of his high school football team. As the newly appointed head coach and a black man, Coach Boone was faced with big expectations or else he would have to face the consequences. Coach Boone established that his team would show tremendous effort in the fall football camp at Gettysburg College. He set ground rules as he told all of his players that they would leave the school by 7:29 AM and made them all wear dress shirts, ties, and a jacket. Coaches appreciate the athletes that display the expectancy theory because they want more out of their team. At Gettysburg College, All American linebacker Gerry Bertier, confronted fellow starting linebacker, Julius Campbell and wanted him to put in more effort during practice and play the right assignment. As captain of the team, Gerry needed to assert himself and expect more from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Life of Artemisia Gentileschi Life of Artemisia Gentileschi Italian Baroque painter, Artemisia Gentileschi was born in Rome on July 8th, 1593. Her father Orazio Gentileschi, who was a painter himself, introduced Artemisia to the art of painting by giving her lessons in his studio. At an early age, Artemisia displayed her interest in art and it wasn t long until her father noticed potential in his daughter enough that she would be able to make a name for herself in the male dominated career. Artemisia had the desire to follow in her father s footsteps, it was then that Orazio encouraged her to follow her dreams and decided to begin training her as an artist. After collaborating on a project with the painter Agostino Tassi, Orazio hired him to tutor Artemisia on perspective due to his skills with landscape. During one of their lessons, Tassi took advantage of Artemisia and raped her. In their time, if a woman was raped, the man who was responsible had to marry her. I find it odd knowing that back then it was considered normal for a man to rape a woman that he wanted to be with and marrying her after. Sounds to me like women had no choice, no say on who they wanted to be in relationship with. Sadly, in many cases the men who committed the rape would flee from the situation to avoid getting married after getting what they wanted. Even though the women weren t at fault, if unmarried women weren t virgins they were seen as tainted, or no good for another man. After the incident had occurred, Tassi had ... • 7. The Ionic Frieze Of The Parthenon The ionic frieze of the Parthenon was considered by the Italian traveler and antiquarian Cyriac of Ancona as one of the noblest images of the Parthenon. The ionic frieze measures some 160 meters, or 524 feet, and is visible along the upper walls of the cella in addition to across the two porches. Cyriac was one of the first individuals to have sketched the figures on the frieze. The subject of the ionic frieze according to Cyriac was the victories of the Athenians . The Doric frieze of the Parthenon in the past presented 92 polychromatic carvings. The building upon which the frieze was built in the ionic style was Doric. The two styles of design do not mesh, and did not occur at simultaneous periods in history, making the presence of the ionic frieze something of a mystery. The general meaning of the frieze at large, comprised of many parts, has thereby been drawn into question. While the frieze in in superior condition than other elements of the Parthenon, such as the metopes, pediments, and akroteria, much of it has nonetheless been lost, leaving open room for interpretation. The lack of consensus over the meaning of the contents of the Parthenon is due in part to the height of the frieze. Travelers in the 2nd century A.D., centuries before Cyriac, had noted the pediments; however there was no discussion of the frieze. This may have been due to the fact that the frieze was too high. Conversely, and as will be explored below, some of the legends therein ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Currently, the nation is second largest world economy courtesy of the rapid economic growth in the coastal region of the country for which the great wall is a part, Nelamangala Vishwapathy, (2015). The very construction of the wall is so vast that it gets into the league of the largest building projects in human history. In fact, in recognition of the architectural endeavours and the historical significance of the wall, United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) put the wall its record as one of the World Heritage List, Jing, (2015). Amazingly, this great wall was not constructed one. It continues to be built and developed further even though the process of building the wall dates back to the 7th Century. • 10. Narmer Palette Essay The Narmer Palette originates from Hierakonpolis, Egypt and dates back to the Early Dynastic period. The Palette is a double sided two dimensional raised relief with multiple registers on each side. It is a statement of the political authority in early Egypt and uses depictions of the king, those subservient to the king, and the king s ability to cause change to demonstrate political authority. For example, on both the recto and the verso the king is depicted as the largest figure, this use of size places the figure into a social perspective, revealing its importance and providing enough information to infer the figures social status as a ruler. Additionally, the recto and the verso of the Palette show the king as being the only figure wearing a large headdress and wielding a scepter; both of which can be seen as symbols of power that further implicate the importance of the king. Subsequently, the king s location at the top of the social hierarchy would enable him to have control over other people. In 1848, this movement became more political. It gained a reputation and an attempt was made to unify all Slavic peoples. This movement became known as Pan Slavism. Pan Slavism appealed to many Slavs who felt nationalism towards their race. However among the Slavs, there were many different opinions. He believed that nationality was not only determined by language, but also by customs, religion, government, and way of education. In 1848, he published an article called Slav and Czech , in which he stated that the name Slav is and should always remain a geographical name. br br Bulgarian poet, Christo Boter, who strongly believed that only small federations of Slavs, in accordance to location should be built, shared a similar yet different view. This is because if only small federations of Slavs would be built, then the Slavs within these federations would share similar beliefs, culture, and political systems. As a result, no nationality would be offended. In addition, not every Russian wanted the uniting of other Slavs with Russia. In 1915, Gabriel de Wesselitsky, a Russian journalist, declared that that Pan Slavism was supported by only the weakest and most oppressed. He argued that the supporters of Pan Slavism would visit Russia to complain of their suffering and discrimination, and try to unsuccessfully provoke Russian sympathy. br br Many Russian rulers believed that it was their duty to unite their Slavic brothers. Russia s motive for this was patriotism as well as expansion. In his Manifesto, Tsar Nicholas II stated that faith, blood, and historical tradition united the Slavic peoples of Russia. There were two other groups that performed before the workshop. Those were two bands were the Rich Armandi Combo, coached by Rich Armandi, and the Funk Combo, coached by Chris Madsen, and the Jazz Workshop, conducted by Professor Madsen, and special guest Victor Garcia. All three groups did an outstanding job. They had many moments that I could hear were very similar to what we have been learning in jazz history. It was interesting to actually hear everything that was being taught in class being exercised in the concert. In this paper I will be talking about the concert as well as the parallels that showed up in the concert that relate back to what our class has been learning. In the first group, the Rich Armandi Combo, did really well over all. When listening to the combo there were many things that stood out. You can hear the basic jazz techniques, the drum keeping time, he never stops or goes off beat. In the second song the combo performed Forest Flower was very well done, the trumpet added to the song. I thought that some of the trumpet playing sounded similar to Miles Davis. This was because the trumpeter was playing in a middle register, but not to low. Just like Davis would play, the trumpet also had great a great sound for the long notes she was playing in the pieces. The third song they performed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not only do we have Earth bound telescopes; we have telescopes in the sky that can get even closer to other matter whether that be planets, stars, comets, asteroids, etc. The textbook also notes radial velocity and how the gravitational pull of a planet results in the star wobbling. If the wobble happens to occur along our line of sight to the star, then we see small fluctuations in the star s radial velocity, which can be measured using the Doppler effect (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371) allowing us to estimate the mass of the planet (Chaisson McMillan, 2014, p 371). I found this website: http://www.planetary.org/explore/space topics/exoplanets/how to search for exoplanets.html that gives three ways. They are noted as radial velocity (already stated); transit photometry (having to do with the brightness or lack thereof of a star when another planet passes between it and the Earth (How to Search for Exoplanets)), and Microlensing (stated as the only real method that is capable of discovering other planets at huge distances from Earth (How to Search for Exoplanets)). It further notes that while radial velocity can identify them within 100 light years, transit photometry can identify them more than 100 light years (100 s in fact), and transit photometry can find those that are thousands of light years away. Mussolini rise to power through the use of violence is widely evident as it is summed up in this Mussolini himself for my part, I prefer 50 000 votes to 5000 votes . Alternatively, there are also many other factors that shows Mussolini did not depend on violence but however considered it a useful tool. This could be from his foreign policy, effort with socialist trade unionist and his effort in gaining political power legally. As Fascism began as a radical socialist movement, it was only inevitable that radical measures be taken. Mussolini use of violence mainly relied on the squadristi. The south came to support the fascist as they provided funds in order to keep the business running. The church was also taken by Mussolini as he introduce a range of measures i.e formally dropped proposals to tax church property. This is summed up by pope puis xvi saying: Mussolini has a proper understanding of what is necessary for this country in order to rid it of the anarchy to which it has been reduced by an impotent parliamentarianism This shows that although terror was used in order to gain power, the squadristi actions was justified as certain groups of people welcome this action and violence was only extensively use during the beginning of the fascist regime. Held defines ethics of care as a well defined theoretical approach that stands for an alternative to moral theories such as deontological and utilitarian ethics. She argues that ethics of care focuses more on personal relationships and communal ties. While bringing in the concepts of cluster of practices and values into care, she gives a description of a caring person as one who possesses appropriate motivation to care for others and who partakes adeptly in effective practices of caring (Held, 2006). His name is derived from the Russian word raskolnik, signifying dissident or isolated, which is proper since his most principal character attribute is his distance from human culture. His pride and intellectualism lead him to abhor whatever is left of mankind as fit only to sustain the species. Interestingly, he trusts that he is a piece of a first class extraordinary man hierarchy and can therefore go against morals for a greater good. On the other hand, that blame that torments him after he kills Alyona Ivanovna and Lizaveta and his repeating faintness at the notice of the homicides serve as verification to him that he is not made of the same stuff as a genuine superman , for example, Napoleon. In spite of the fact that he thinks about the choice to admit for the vast majority of the novel and however he appears to be bit by bit to acknowledge the truth of his average quality, he stays persuaded that the homicide of the pawnbroker was supported. His definitive acknowledgment that he adores Sonya is the main power sufficiently solid to rise above his imbued hatred of humankind. Raskolnikov s associations with alternate characters in the novel do much to light up his identity and comprehension of himself. Despite the fact that he thinks about Razumikhin, Pulcheria Alexandrovna, and Dunya, Raskolnikov is so made up for lost time in his distrustful viewpoint that he is regularly unappreciative of their endeavors to help him. He swings to Sonya as a kindred transgressor of social standards, however he neglects to perceive that her wrongdoing is vastly different from his: while she genuinely gives up herself for the purpose of others, he basically carries out his wrongdoing for his purpose alone. At last, his association with Svidrigailov is baffling. In spite of the fact that he detests the man for his debasement, he likewise appears to need something from him maybe ... Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train Christina Baker Kline, a very accomplished writer, produced the work of Orphan Train which quickly rose to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, and there is no question why. This was a novel about adventure, discovery, persevering, and learning to love life. It was based between a series of two different time periods one being during 2011, which is Molly s story. She meets a 90 year old woman who has had many identities during her time. She tells Molly about her travels as an orphan during the 1930 s. These stories are very similar in their type, even though they were many years apart. Molly and Vivian are both orphans, they have both encountered tragedies, hope, and most of all loss. They have come to feel at times as if the world were to fall apart, and the ground might break from beneath their feet, however they found ways to move past the mournfulness and frightening times. • 19. Hobbes State Of Nature Q1. Explain and evaluate Hobbes s argument that life in the state of nature is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. For Hobbes, there is no worse condition for men than to live in the state of nature, or for him: a constant state of war (Hobbes, year: 41 de cive). Hobbes believed that, in the absence of an absolute ruler men would kill each other as there exists a right of all to all. The proposed quote sums up Hobbes s vision of society without government. However, it is less clear the extent to which his view of humans, in such a state, is accurate or even applicable. This essay will firstly explain Hobbes s pessimistic view of human nature; the main causes of conflict which lead to the war of all against all (Hobbes, year:); and finally, his theory of natural rights and laws in the state of nature. Then it will move on to evaluate the validity of his claim by showing contradictions and problems to his theory and thus alternative views of human nature, and the applicability of his state of nature taking into account his historical context and other societies. There is little dispute today that the number of students who have debt has increased, and that the amount of money they have borrowed has gone up (Billitteri). Many students incur large amounts of debt that will never pay dividends in higher wages or greater job satisfaction, and they graduate into a world with weak employment prospects. The reality is that for young people today, it is harder to educate one s way into the middle class, and college costs are leaving many in this generation without the credentials they need to thrive in the 21st century economy. One radical solution that recently has been proposed is that the federal government should completely cancel student loan debt to stimulate the economy (Caffentzis, 31). However, history has shown that in the case of tax rebate checks, people tend to spend any rebates to pay off other existing debt, or they simply save them. This does little to stimulate the economy, and one suspects that the same would happen with across the board loan forgiveness (_Harris_). However, there are several measures that can be taken to make college more affordable. Let s start with the student loan and grant system. The government should increase the number of need based Pell Grants awarded to students, but there should also be more grant money given to the students willing to chose a cheaper public college or start their academic career by attending community college. Most colleges would consequently want to keep their tuition costs low to remain attractive to prospective students. This goes hand in hand with the fact that administration ... • 23. Fear Of The Unknown In The Crucible Realized or not, it is in the innate nature of humans to fear something that they are unfamiliar with. A surgeon fears his first time in the operating room. An expecting mother is apprehensive of her first delivery. A new student is trepid about his first day at a new school. The fear of the unknown has for long defined and constrained the boundaries of societies and the actions of man, and has been, is, and will continue to shape and affect our decisions. Fear of the unknown creates, promotes, and maintains paranoia and disunity in a community in times of crisis. The God fearing and overly religious nature of the populace of Salem Village helped give birth to the hysteria and chaos of the Salem Witch Hunt in 1692. Fear of the unknown played a crucial role in sustaining and promoting the hysteria created by Abigail Williams very first accusations. In Act I, Tituba, the Caribbean slave serving Reverend Samuel Parris is accused by Abigail, who claims that she [Tituba] makes us drink blood and dream corruptions (Miller 43, 44). Abigail then continues to elaborate on the supposed misdeeds Tituba influences her to carry out, and accuses her of tempting her and laughing in her sleep (Miller 44). Van Sant takes pride in portraying a valuable image. What s in the room really touches you if it is closely examined. The hallways and the fields of the school are in pristine condition, staying abnormally clean, almost too clean for a school. Despite this seeming glorification of the building, the hallways are kept as a constant secondary to the sharply focused characters the camera constantly follows. This really takes the focus away from the bare walls and empty hallways and places it directly on the students. The film isn t about the location that it occurred, but more about the people that it happened to. The focus is on the students of the film, both figuratively and literally. • 30. The Psychosexual Stages Of Development Psychosexual Stages of Development In the second essay of his Three Essays on Sexuality (1905), Freud theorized that every child is born with innate sexual impulses that develop as the child grows. He proposed stages of psychosexual development that each child goes through until he or she reaches puberty. This chapter investigates if these stages of development are in fact, universal and the nature of their presence in the cultural society of Hindu India. According to Freud (1905), the new born child s innate sexual impulses can only be observed in the child once he reaches the age of three. He stated that the development of this infantile sexuality took place in a periodic and oscillating manner after a brief period of development, it is suppressed in a state of latency till the sexual development takes over. Although he states that he does not know the reason for this pattern, he also adds that it is during this period of latency that the aesthetic and moral ideals develop which by feelings of disgust and shame restrict the flow of the sexual instinct. These ideals develop inherently, even without any help from external education. While the impulses are not ceased entirely during the period of latency, their energy is diverted to other ends by the process of sublimation and results in the development of the individual (ibid: 176). I am interested about how the Dictatorial style of government affects the overall growth of the humanities globally. My goal for this project is to research and understand the positive and negative effects of dictatorships on the academic growth as well as growth in the humanities. There are clear negative effects like the loss of literature in countries such as Germany, where specific types of book from certain eras were burned. In addition to that there are positives such as leaders focusing on education more than other areas of government spending. The paper that would be written using the information gathered through research on this topic would be persuasive, arguing that though there are some positive effects, dictatorships have an overall negative impact on intellect and the humanities. My working research question is: Are the net effects of dictatorships on the areas of the humanities including art and literature as well as academics as a whole positive or negative?
