Introduction to Ireland
The country of Ireland s national symbol is the harp; this can be seen on flags throughout the
country as well as on the presidential seal. The national flag is green, orange and white, each
color has a different meaning, the green is for the older Gaelic tradition or Roman Catholic, the
orange is for the Protestant majority and the white is a symbol to show how the two different
religions co exist in peace. The National Anthem of the country is the Soldiers Song and consists of
three verses and a chorus, generally you will only hear the chorus being sung, this is not the song

are generally given based on the religion of the family, for Christians the names are chosen from
Ancestors and for Catholic they are chosen based on the Saints.
Greeting and first time meeting
The most common greeting for family and close friends is hugging and a kiss, handshakes are
offered when first meeting a new person, but if the Irish person doesn t offer a handshake then
don t offer one as they value their personal space. Manners are always used even to a cab/taxi
driver or a person that is waiting on you, always offer a Thank you, say Please and wait your turn
in line patiently, since being rude, loud or obnoxious is not acceptable in the area. The use of

Difference Between Longboard And Longboard
LONGBOARD
It is often no longer a distinction between a longboard and a Malibu. The boundaries are blurred,
in fact, the Longboard tend to be even a bit longer than the Malibu boards. The longboard is the
original surfboard shape and allows relaxed and harmonious Riding off of small to medium

possible by the large volume of longboards, which bring a lot of lift and with which one can

Explication Of The Hollow Men
The explication of The Hollow Men In the famous poem The Hollow Men written by Eliot, the
author depicts a land of death , which gathers a group of hollow men , not only showing the
emptiness and a sense of loss of people, but also reflecting the falling of modern civilization. In
his description, we can clearly see the hopeless status that the people live. In the epigraph of the
poem, Eliot mentions two people called Mistah Kurtz and the old guy respectively. Mistah Kurtz is
a character in the novel Heart of darknesswho is corrupted because he wanted to dominate Africa
and finally he lost morality and went to death. the old guy is the man named Guy Fawkes who
tried to burn the Parliament building but unluckily failed. Then every November 5th in England

the hollow men live more distant (line 27) so they cannot hear the voices (line 25) of them. the

A Short Note On Rocket Engine Combustion Instability
Rocket Engine Combustion Instability
Naveen Penmetsa
University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, 80309
C ombustion instability has long been an area of research in the design of both aircraft and rocket
engines. Specifically in terms of rocket engines, combustion instabilities occur in every type of
engine including solid rocket motors, cryogenic engines, hyperbolic engines, and hydrocarbon
engines. Although combustion oscillations tends to exist in almost every engine, the goal is to
minimize these variations in combustion such that any pressure oscillations are below the ambient
noise of the engine itself. In order to reduce the linear and nonlinear coupling that causes these
instabilities, it is important to identify not only the types of oscillations that occur but also the
causes for each of these oscillations.
In liquid engines there are three main types of instabilities. These are chugging oscillations which
are low frequency, buzzing oscillations which are of an intermediate frequency, and screeching
which is a high frequency oscillation. Additionally, instabilities can oscillate in three different
direction, due to the three dimensional nature of combustion. These directions are longitudinally,
radially, and transversely.
Flow States Effect on Liquid Engine Combustion Instability
Overview
The various forms of combustion instability in liquid rocket engines are directly and indirectly
affected by the state of the flow from the inlet of the injector to the throat of

How the 5 atmosphere controls affect temperature and precipitation in St. Louis and Singapore.
How about we start with St. Louis Missouri, since it is by all accounts a most loved of Darrel
Hess. As we learned in our labs St. Louis is encompassed via arrive on the mainland of North
America and is hotter in the late spring and cooler in the winter than seaside territories. The
explanation behind this is land water contrasts. Land and water warmth and cool contrastingly and
land masses warmth and cool quicker than the sea (Hess, 2011).
The scope of St. Louis likewise has an influence in its temperatures. It is situated over the Tropic of

Louis temperature changes since it doesn t have a high height level. Normally higher elevation
areas result in cooler temperatures (Hess, 2011). The sea streams truly have no effect at all on St.
Louis either on the grounds that as I said before it is land bolted and no place close to the sea.
St. Louis falls into the mellow midlatitude atmosphere gathering, and this is a district loaded with
air mass complexities (Hess, 2011). These differentiations cause a mixture of unsettling influences
in the air leaving St. Louis with an assortment of climate (Hess, 2011). The summers have a
tendency to have more precipitation with the coastal stream and incessant convection (Hess, 2011).
However winter can encounter rain and periodic snow due to midlatitude typhoons (Hess, 2011).
Singapore s area is very unique in relation to St. Louis. It has a low height so this doesn t
generally influence its temperature. It is encompassed by water on three sides, so arrive water
differentiates in Singapore is the inverse of St. Louis. The encompassing sea streams have some
influence in the temperature here (Hess, 2011). Still, the main temperature segment would be its
scope (Hess, 2011). It is found near the Equator. Singapore s scope area encounters a similar
measure of daylight year round and doesn t encounter any occasional temperature changes along
these lines. It additionally has warm sea streams because of its scope and continuous daylight (Hess,

Oregon Trail Emigrants
Tens of thousands of people died during the westward expansion, and many groups in particular
resisted great hardships, but one group stands out. Groups that faced difficulty are the gold rush
pioneers, the Chinese railroad workers, and the Oregon trail emigrants. Out of the three, the
Oregon Trail emigrants faced the greatest difficulty because of the harsh geography, disease, and
accidents the emigrants were exposed to on the trail. Because the geography of which the Oregon
ran through was rough and brutal, it had a large impact on the travellers. The snow covered trails
made it difficult to travel on the trail, especially in the Rocky Mountains. Going through snowstorms
in the mountains was considered certain deathin some areas. there would be large snow storms, this

In fact, 90% of all deaths on the Oregon Trail were a result of incurable illnesses. Most people who
died during the trip west became ill from diseases for which there was no cure (Illinois State).
Since there was no cure for the illnesses, emigrants suffered greatly before they died. Bad water,
polluted by hastily constructed latrines, made it difficult for travelers to get an essential human
right from the rivers: water. Disease spread through convoys and wagon trains rapidly, infecting
many at a time. People witnessed the decline and death of family and friends on the trail. You
see we have lost 7 persons in a few short days, all died of Cholera (Freel). Martha Freel, a
traveling emigrant, witnessed the death of her friends and father to cholera,a very frequent killer
on the trail. The illnesses not only physically damaged the travellers, but mentally as well.
Witnessing such sickness of friends and family took a toll on the travellers, and lowered the will to

Arts Centres in Singapore
II. Introduction
Singapore is a thriving port for businesses and its arts sector is more dynamic now than ever
before, with arts organisations enjoying various degrees of success in the consumer market, as well
as in markets for sponsorship and donations, and government support. Even though the three main
sources of revenue may have come to an end, the number of arts organisations competing for
financial support is continuously rising. In view of marketing, one could say that the life cycle of
the arts sector has not only reached maturity, but is saturated; where supply exceeds demand by a
wide margin (Colbert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study will analyse three arts centres in Singapore, namely The Substation, Esplanade, and

III. Proposed Thesis Statement Research Questions
The proposed study hypothesises that the role of branding can affect the financial strength of the
arts centres in Singapore. The study seeks to prove that there is relationship between the role of
branding and the opportunities in financial support for the growing number of arts centres in
Singapore. Financial support for the arts centres are likely to increase if branding strategy with
careful consideration is adopted. Through a review of recent literature covering the role of
marketing (and branding) in affecting the artistic products and arts organisations, the proposed
study explores the connection between the arts centres financial strength and their brands
constructed therein. With particular emphasis on three arts centres in Singapore, namely The
Substation, The Esplanade, and Goodman Arts Centre, five research questions are included to
support the thesis. The initial investigation of the proposed study will attempt to 1) What is
branding and its relationship with the arts in Singapore?; 2) What are the identified arts centres in
Singapore?; 3) Do brand extension strategies for conventional goods and services succeed in the
case of arts centres in Singapore? 4) Which type of

Poverty In The United States Essay
As poverty spreads, there are carving broader arcs of desperation throughout the country. A rising
number of Americans are struggling to make it from one paycheck or unemployment check to the
next (Abramsky, 2012). In the United States, families and individuals are classified as being in
poverty if their annual money income before taxes and other deductions falls below the official
povertythresholds (Betson, 1977). According to the United StatesCensus Bureau, poverty is based
on the number of people in a family, and who share an income less than three times the cost of
food for that household. The recent United State recession has pushed the number of poor young
children to their highest levels of poverty since 1994. Poverty is more pervasive... Show more

The average rate of child poverty is lowest among Whites, but Asian children are less likely to be
poor than Blacks and Hispanics (Bratter and Kimbro, 2013). Although poverty is borne more
heavily by minorities, the notion that poverty is only a minority problem is a meth. (Abramsky,
2012). Poverty is not shared equally across different demographic groups. African Americans
children, Latino children, and children in mother only families are disproportionately poor
(Corcoran and Chaudry, 1977). About 47 million Americans of all color ethnicities and
backgrounds are living at or below the poverty line (Abramsky, 2012). While the poor are barely
protected by a frayed social safety net and often disengaged from the decision making processes
that structure their lives, confronting the root causes of poverty is discouraging and increasingly
urgent (Abramsky, 2012). Dramatic changes in the family, society, and the economy have altered
the lives of children. Children are now more likely to live with a single parent with low levels of
schooling and work experience making it more difficult for parents to support a family above the
poverty level (Corcoran and Chaudry,

The Transformation of Edna Pontellier in The Awakening Essay
She wanted something to happen something, anything: she did not know what
(Chopin). In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the reader is introduced to Edna Pontellier, a
passionate, rebellious woman. Throughout the novel, it becomes apparent how unsettled Edna feels
about her life. The reader can identify this by her thoughts, desires, and actions, which are highly
inappropriate for an affluent woman of the time. In the novel, Edna has an awakening and finds the
courage to make the changes she sees necessary. Kate Chopin is able to make quality connections in
order to symbolize her innermost desires. Chopin does this by providing references to the sea, and
the birds, and then using them to foreshadow Edna s end of life
decision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Awakening, Edna finds herself yearning for this type of freedom and independence. She
desperately wants to be relinquished from her stagnant life of wife and motherhood. Kate Chopin
chooses to represent
Edna s desires through these symbolic birds. These solid references are scattered throughout the
novel. They are first seen in chapter one, when Mr. Pontellier enters Madame Lebrun s: A green
and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door (Chopin) and, ...the mockingbird that
hung on the other side of the door, whistling his fluty notes out upon the breeze with maddening
persistence (Chopin). These are, arguably, the two most significant pieces of symbolism in
relationship to birds. This is because the parrot and mockingbird are in cages, representing the idea
that Edna feels trapped by her current life. Also, the birds are squawking at
Mr. Pontellier, representing the voice Edna is unable to express for herself early on in the novel
(Shmoop Editorial Team). The next reference to birds appears when Mademoiselle Reisz says to
Edna: The bird that would soar above the level plain of tradition and prejudice must have strong
wings (Chopin). This is understood to mean that if Edna truly needs her freedom and independence
to be happy, then she must be courageous enough to go against the norms of society (Shmoop
Editorial Team).

Theme: The Greater Minneapolis Community Has the Resources to Reduce Youth Violence.
A consistent theme that at risk youth raise in discussions with community social workers is the
desire to have a job. Minneapolis has done a great deal of work in connecting youth to employers

The Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) has operated a highly successful afterschool program for
years. Over the last 15 years, the funding for the program has declined precipitously. Limited funds
have made it challenging for MPS to keep the program staffed with teachers, relying on an
inconsistent flow of volunteers instead. The afterschool program is an invaluable resource in the
effort to reduce youth violence. Instead of unsupervised and unstructured time, the program keeps
youth focused on completing homework, developing skills, exposes them to mentors, and allows

Secondly, predictive analytics not only use statistical algorithms and forecasts on historical data but
also anticipate likely situations to plan ahead. The means of these predictive models differs

Some people still do not know how or why they should use electronic devices for reading. It s no
wonder that a lot of the people I talk to are confused by ebooks. They don t know which way to
turn, which e reader to use, or why they should even use them (Merkoski 161). It is important
for children to know what a real book is like. Without the balance of children holding and
touching and learning how to take care of a book, you run the risk of children losing a sense of
what books are and how they feel... you lose the understanding on how they came to be (66 67).
Only using electronic devices for reading loses a person s touch with the past and with

Anthrax Pathogenesis
Anthrax is a deadly disease which can infect millions with the release of one biological weapon
or the melting of decades old permafrost. Anthrax disease is caused by the pathogen Bacillus
Anthracis, which is a bacteria that spreads through the way of spores. Unlike many infectious
diseases Anthrax does not spread from person to person, however, it can be spread widely through
the release and exposure to spores ( AnthraxCommunicable Disease Control and Prevention, San
Francisco Department of Public Health , 2016). The structure of the spores can be seen in figure 2(

False Journalism And The Spanish-American War
Journalism is the only source to obtain information to form a personal opinion about events that
are happening in society, but often is fueled by sales and viewership that often presents false
reports to drive popular opinions. The opinions that are presented to the unaware subscriber or
viewer can be dangerous when a person starts to believe in everything that is being presented to
them. The expectation of the news mediato present only facts is far from the agenda of media.
Whereas, the media needs to be profitable like any other corporation. For instance, the media started
the Spanish American war through false journalismas competition between two rival newspapers.

The Economic Status Of Young People
The youth is one of the most vulnerable groups in the labour market. The economic status of
young people has declined significantly over the past two decades, despite a variety of programs
designed to aid new workers in the transition from the classroom to the job market. Young people
have a great impact on economic growth and productivity. It also costs governments and society
at large a lot of money, both currently in terms of higher unemployment benefits and lost tax
revenue and flow into the future through long term reduced productivity and earnings. Last but
not least, being young and unemployed can lead to increase in the risk of poverty, deskilling and
social exclusion as well as cause loss of motivation and mental health problems. Fresh graduates
lacking experience often find themselves trapped in a vicious cycle. They often lack the
experience needed to fill a job opening, which prevents them from getting employed. Thus, the job
searching period for them becomes considerably longer than for experienced workers and harms
their future work prospects (Vena Nedeljkovic, 2014, para. 2).
So, there are two solutions that are the best in solving the issue: apprenticeship and
entrepreneurship. The first feasible solution is apprenticeship. It consists of a combination of on the
job training, contributions by apprentices to production, and classroom instruction, leading to a
valued occupational credential. They could be run either by private entities, the Department of

becomes key to the success of the company. For a news reporting magazine like Mucci Mag to be

High-Protein Diets For Weight Loss Essay
High Protein Diets for Weight Loss
The Role of Dieting in Society Today
The preoccupation of modern society with appearance is reflected in part by the preponderance of
Americans who engage in dieting behaviors. Despite the nutritional and fitness literature which
pervades society today, 33% of the American population continues to be overweight (Bates, 1997).
The USDA recommendation for a low fat, high complex carbohydrate diet over the years has
seemingly not been effective, since the proportion of overweight Americans has increased. Many
frustrated Americans have in turn looked beyond the high carb, low fat diet to other less
conventional measures (http.//web.usatoday.com/life/health/lhs641.htm). Dietary fads have sprouted

Popular Examples of High Protein Diets
The Zone diet, as described in The Zone by Barry Sears, Ph.D. is an example of a protein
adequate diet (http://web.usatoday.com/life/health/lhs641.htm). Small meals of fruits, vegetables,
monounsaturated fats, and low fat proteins are advised to be eaten throughout the day. Sources of
total calorie composition outlined by this dietary plan is as follows: 40% carbohydrate, 30% fat,
30% protein. The amount of fat is dictated by the amount of protein consumed at each meal. The
role of fat in this diet plan is described by Dr. Sears as follows: slows the rate of carbohydrate
entry into bloodstream which reduces insulin response, releases hormone (CCK) from stomach to
tell brain to stop eating, and supplies the building blocks (essential fatty acids) for eicosanoids (http:
//www.users.cts.com/crash/d/dbrowndc/zonefaq.htm#Unfavorable). Therefore according to this
perspective, in order for the body to burn fat and weight loss to occur, insulin must be maintained
within a prescribed zone (Kirby, 1997).
This high protein diet is depicted as a life long hormonal control program which allows a person
to maximize full genetic potential. The zone diet allows a person to eat as if they were already at
their ideal percentage of body fat because stored calories are being hormonally released. The
advertised effects of this dietary plan on the body include: burns fat, fights heart disease, diabetes,

Impeachments For Senators
The requirements for Senators are an interesting point in the Constitution, and it surprises me that
they remain identical to this day. Each senator serves for six years. It s interesting that each
elected Senator serves for three times as long as a Representative and for two years more than the
President, without re election of course. Senators are required to be five years older than
Representatives, but five years younger than the president, and they are also responsible for the
Impeachment process. It s interesting that Treason requires at least two eye witness to overt

Persuasive Essay On Fire Safety
Campfire Safety 101
There s nothing better than sitting around a campfire on a chilly night with a cup of hot cocoa
or the taste of food cooked over a fire. However, if you are not responsible with a campfire, you
could cause a lot of damage to the environment and even to yourself. If you are building a campfire
in your backyard, set up a designated fire pit. If you are camping, be sure to use any fire pits that are
set up for campfires. If the campground or camping area doesn t have a designated fire pit, be sure
that the area of the fire pit, plus about 3 feet from the pit wall is clear of grass and debris.
Setting up a Campfire
Be sure to pick a spot that is at least 20 feet from the RV, tent or house. Once the area has been
cleaned of all burnable debris, create a wall of rock or use a metal fire pit ring to keep the fire
contained. For a permanent pit, dig down to the mineral dirt and then ring the pit with rocks or a
metal ring. Always choose a spot that is sheltered from the wind and that is level. If you are not
near a water hose, be sure to have a large container of water on hand to put out the fire should you
have to do it in a hurry.
Building the Fire
You ll need tinder that burns easily, kindling and logs. The best way to get a fire started is to use
the teepee method. Pile tinder such as newspaper or dry grass in the center of the fire pit. Add
small twigs to the pile. Lean kindling over the top in the shape of a teepee. The tops of the sticks
of kindling will

Comparison Of Oedipus And Frogs
To begin with, if Oedipus and Frogs are to be taken into consideration and the aspects of the plot
dissected using the guidelines provided in Poetics, then based on Aristotle s definition of plot as
organization of events, it can be stated that the structure of plot is the same for the two stories of
opposing genres, for both have a beginning, a middle and an end one following after the other
resulting in a well constructed plot not beginning or ending at any arbitrary point (Aristotle 10 13
14). However, while the character experiences a fall from good fortune to bad fortune in most
tragedies, in most comedies the character experiences a fall from bad fortune to good fortune
(Aristotle 21 22). Thus, in regards to Oedipusit can be noted that the story follows the general plot
structure with Oedipus first facing good fortune briefly in the beginning of the play, as alluded to
by the Elder who states that Oedipus came to Thebes, saved us from the Sphinx,/ And without any
help, derived us from despair/... Now, Oedipus, our master and greatest power (Sophocleslines 35

Sex And The City Chapter 4
As the professor stated, chapter 4 is indeed an interesting chapter. While reading this chapter I
related it to the famous television show Sex and The City. This tv show depicts New York City
as the city that loves sex, fame and the social life. Dating nowadays is not the same, courting is
no longer a thing and one night stands has become even more popular. Both women and men
pay more attention to the status of the person, body figure, where he or she may reside, the
fancy clothes and so on rather than who the person is and getting to know them more. I know
many of us, including myself might get side tracked at become attracted to his or her body or
looks rather than the person physically. However, it is up to us to become focus again a make that
decision wether we are 100 percent attracted to the person not because of the riches and social

Analysis Of Juggler By Richard Wilbur
The poem Juggler describes how the tricks the juggler acts out for the crowd amaze and intrigue
them. In the poem Juggler by Richard Wilbur, the author uses imagery, figurative language and
tone to describe the juggler as someone who brings happiness and fun to others. The use of
imagery, figurative language, and tone are used to describe the juggler and reveal the speaker s
own views about the world.
Throughout the poem the author uses imagery to describe the juggler s appearance and the tricks
he is accomplishing in his show. For example, Wilbur states, it takes a sky blue juggler with five
red balls...to shake our gravity up. (lines 6 7). The author s description of the juggler as someone
who can shake our gravity up (line 7) shows that the juggler is someone who has a tremendous
impact on the audience and the speaker because the audience is full of serious people and the
juggler evokes happiness and astonishment from the audience. Moreover, by saying this the
audience is able to get an insight into the life of the speaker; we are able to see that not a lot of
things happen in the speaker s life that make the speaker happy. Additionally, Wilbur shows the
reader the the juggler is performing, the author says, Oh, on his toe the table is turning, the broom
s Balancing up on his nose, and the plate whirls. On the tip of the broom! (lines 9 21). We can see
the juggler as he is performing his great trick and how the crowd is happy and amazed at what he
is accomplishing through his performance when the author says, Damn, what a show,we cry... (
line 21). Having the crowd cheer at the juggler as he completes his trick of the balancing act
showed that people are made happy with small things like the juggling trick the juggler was
performing for the crowd.
As the poem progresses, we can see how the juggler manipulates the five red balls he is using to
move around his body. Richard Wilbur uses figurative language like personification to show how
the balls move by the tricks the juggler does. Wilbur says, The balls roll around, wheel on his
wheeling hand, learning the ways of lightness, alter to spheres, grazing his finger ends, cling to
their course there. ( lines 8 11). The author explains how the

Progression Of Confucianism Essay
The progression of Confucianism Before Confucianism during the Shang dynasty the method of
reasoning was much different than it is today. The practice of oracle bone divination was used to
guide the shang and even though this specific ritual is not practiced much today the Shang did

religions leave some sort of lasting contribution to society and Confucianisms will be both the
culture of literate elite as well as the interdependence required for social harmony. The central

Representation Of Women In The Media Essay
Representation of women over time
By James Hall
In my opinion, the representation of women within the media hasn t changed. However, outside of
media it has improved.
Firstly, by the 1950 s American women had come a long way. During World War II women had
entered the working environment in mass numbers, however when the war was over, many
women then returned home to find their jobs were taken by the men. The next passing of
women s rights laws wouldn t come until the early to mid 1960s when the Equal Pay Act was
finally passed in the 1963, which meant that the gap between women s and men s pay was
shortened however, women were still being paid less in various circumstances. But in the 1950 s
/60 s media coverage showed women as being weak around the home and confused when it came
to manly jobs .
In recent years there has been a big attitude change towards women in the media. A large amount of
the influence came from American TV shows that then triggered the change in British television,
who were historically less likely to change their ways.
However there are opposing messages in the media still. For example: Desperate Housewives (the
title itself continues to put down women). Throughout the series the women of Wisteria Lane focus
almost entirely on pleasing the man in their life, through cooking and cleaning. None of ... Show

Social Process Theory Of Crime
Social Process theory views criminality as a socialization function. The theory explores how one
learns things through interactions with various organizations, institutions, and processes in society.
It also focuses on criminal behavior as being a learned behavior that affects every person regardless
of race, class, or gender. Social process theorists believe that socialization with key social
institutions help control human behavior, and that the most prominent elements are the individual s
family, peer group, school and church (Seigel, 2011, pg. 168). Thus, the key element in determining
juvenile behavior, is the socialization the juvenile receives at home, school, and in the community.

The position on the issue is that Congress should close the Guantanamo Bay detention center due to
lack of constitutional rights. In my opinion, these detainees should be subjected to protections of
the Constitutions even though they are enemies of the country. The detainees should not be held
indefinitely without being convicted of a crime. There could be innocent people being detained
suffering from the inhumane conditions. I believe every detainee should be tried, and found guilty
of crime before being imprisoned. However, this conviction should be achieved with the detainee
having legal representation. In the movie, Mandvi did not have legal representation to assist him
proving his innocence nor was he allowed to review the classified documents the tribunal officials
has leaking him to the crime. He does not know how to properly prove to the officials that he is
innocent. Therefore I am confident he was found guilty of the crime, even if he was innocent.
Lastly, the detainees are suffering from inhumane interrogation techniques, such as being sexually
assaulted. There have been reported cases where interrogators used the waterboarding technique.
The detainees should not have to suffer from inhumane techniques to retrieve information from

information. Based on these reason, I believe that these individuals should be tried in a federal

Examples Of The Myth Of Employee Engagement

Elizabethan London Essay
Elizabethan London
From 1558 1603, Queen Elizabeth I was the ruler of England. This time period is known as the
Elizabethan Era, or The Golden Age, as this was the time of the expansion of creativity and
originality. In London during this time, many changes and advancements were taking place that
would soon set out in areas all across the regions and soon spreading across the world. The
advancements in science, the international expansion, the protestant reformation, and the works of
William Shakespeare and his contribution to the flowering of the arts were a few of the
fundamental changes that helped alter the history of the world that followed Elizabethan London.
Elizabethan London was the home to many advancements made to the scientific community. The
part it played in the developments of science paved the way for the scientific revolution that came
in the next era. While there were many important men in the era who contributed greatly to
science, such as Nicolaus Copernicus, Galileo Galilei, and Johannes Kepler, there were some
other forerunners of the scientific revolution. Two of those men were William Gilbert and Francis

By far, the major innovations and skills were in astronomy. Mayan priests would consistently take
measurements using tools such as a forked stick. Using their amazing astronomical knowledge,
they were able to predict future eclipses. They were also able to chart the complex motions of the
sun and other astronomical bodies. Using this knowledge, they designed a calendar that was the

the dot meaning one and the bar meaning five. They also made the original discovery of the
number zero. This is a very important development.
They also developed an advanced system of writing similar to Egyptian Hieroglyphics. They
contained over 800 signs, and each one usually represented an entire word. It was a very visual
language and the meaning of the sign reflected what it looked like. Their writing was highly
sophisticated; only

How Did Edgar Allan Poe Build Suspense
Edgar Allan Poe wrote many famous works of literature, some of which are: The Raven, The Fall
of The House of Usher, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Black Cat. Most of his works were filled with
horror as his background was one we all are glad we never had. With his background his
atmospheres of horror are far better and deeper than most writers. In The Tell Tale Heart
, Poe uses
the setting and the sound of the beating heart to bring fear into the reader s mind. At the
beginning we are brought into the mind of a man that lives alone with an elderly man. They live
in a small house in a quiet neighborhood. Already we can picture the setting from a horror movie
or horror story. The setting is also always during the night. Once the speaker goes to kill the old
man, there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This bring a lot of tension and suspense, and other horror element. When the old man was being
killed, he also let out a loud shriek, and he puts it so that the reader can hear it perfectly
terrifying. After the old man is dead another element of horror and the police come, the speaker
hears the beating of the old man s heart speed increase. The slow build up of volume and speed
makes the speaker more nervous and guilty, until he can no longer take it so he confesses in a
screaming rant. In The Black Cat, Poe uses a similar setting and language as in the Tell Tale
Heart. The setting is not specified to day or night but it is the same kind of normal house in a
normal neighborhood. The speaker focuses on the eye of the cat he loves until he comes to hate the
eye. One

Is The Amyloid Precursor Protein ( App ) Is Long...
Introduction:
The amyloid precursor protein (APP) is long associated with Alzheimer s disease (AD). It is a
single pass transmembrane protein and is responsible for producing the neurotoxic AОІ plaque
which accumulates within the brain (O Brien et al. 2011). This accumulation of AОІ is what
characterises AD. However, in spite of APP s detrimental role in the pathogenesis of AD, it has
been recently shown that APP can act as a neuroprotective molecule following traumatic brain injury
(TBI). Approximately 10 million people worldwide are affected by this disease every year and it is
projected that by 2020, TBI will surpass various diseases and become a major disease of burden
(Hyder et al. 2007). Thus, due to this increase in morbidity and burden, TBI is an urgent medical
and public problem.
APP s protective role in TBI is currently understood to be the product of Й‘ secretase pathway in
soluble amyloid precursor protein Й‘ (sAPPЙ‘) (Corrigan et al. 2013). This pathway was
discovered in the previous year by the same researchers who used APP knockout mice. The
knockout mice had cognitive and motor functions that were severely compromised with impaired
neuroreparative abilities compared to its wild type counterpart (Corrigan et al. 2012). When the
knockout mice were treated with sAPPЙ‘, however, their neuroreparative responses were restored.
Furthermore, the protective properties of APP are often correlated with its functions of synaptic
formation and repair and iron transport and

Compare And Contrast Middle School And High School
Middle school vs High school 1Many people endure three years of middle school and four years of
high school. It is an eventful time for children between 11 to 18 years old. During the adolescent
years there are hormonal changes, environmental changes and emotional developmental gains.
Middle school is the beginning of transitioning towards independence under the constant eye of
adults. During high school they are challenged with real world challenges that help them transition
into adulthood. The behaviors of these individuals change as the factors change around them. For
every person, the experience of high school or middle school may be different. Either way, both
have the same goal of wanting the student to succeed and evolve. Even so, the similarities and
differences vary. Middle school and high school are alike in the areas of receiving an education,
socializing with others, and having teachers while different in areas of maturity, difficulty in work,
and independence. 2Middle school and high school are alike in the aspect that individuals are
receiving an education. Both groups go to learn many different subjects that vary depending on the
student. Either way it is to ensure that each student is gaining an education for future endeavors.
Both groups have many teachers that they encounter each day. That is a prime characteristic of
school which truly makes a school function. The teachers teach, grade, and guide the students to
help them create a firm understanding.

Disadvantages Of Food Additives
Food additives are chemicals that are added to foods to keep them fresh or to enhance their
color, flavor, or texture. They might include food colorings, flavor enhancers, or a range of
preservatives. Most of the time, food additives are listed on the product label (along with other
ingredients), spelt out in full or with a code. Some common food additives may include; artificial
sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, monosodium glutamate (MSG), trans fat, common food dyes,
and many more. It all depends on what type of additive and your body weight/height to determine
the limit of these additives you should have on a daily basis. Artificial sweeteners are a sugar
substitute that provides a sweet taste like sugar, but contains less food energy, and are usually
genetically modified. Effects of artificial sweeteners can include messing with your hormones,
making you overheat, increase the risk of diabetes, and they pollute your water. They can also
cause weight gain, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease. High fructose corn syrup is a
sweetener made from corn starch, it has been processed by glucose isomerase to convert some of
its glucose into fructose. Being that high fructose corn syrup is not natural, it is not healthy at all.
It also has many dangerous effects if you consume to much. Some of these effects include; weight
gain, cancer, fatty liver and liver stress, increased cholesterol, heart disease, etc. It is best to stay
away from products that contain high

The Overlooked Issue of Cervical Cancer Essay example
Cervical cancer has a major impact on women s lives; it is the second most common cause of
cancer related diseases and death among women worldwide. According to the Center for Disease
Control and Prevention (2010), cervical cancer is the cancer that forms in tissues of the cervix. The
cervix is the lower, narrow end of the uterus that connects the vagina to the upper part of the uterus.
Cervical canceris a slow growing cancer that may not cause any symptoms at first but may cause
pelvic pain or bleeding from the vagina later. It is mostly caused by a human papillomavirus(HPV)
infection. HPV is a common virus that is passed from one person to another during sexual activity
(Center for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2010).

The rate is more than twice of what is seen in non Hispanic white women. African American women
develop cervical cancer about 50% more often than non Hispanic white women. Besides ethnicity,
other factors that can increase the risk of getting cervical cancer are smoking, using birth control
pills for a long time, and having multiple sex partners (CDC, 2010).
2 Pertinent issues on the delivery of healthcare related to cervical cancer The two main issues
that affect the delivery of healthcare related to prevention and early detection of cervical cancer
are finance and the lack of awareness. Financial issues play a major role in whether or not
women are screened or vaccinated for cervical cancer. The ACS (2010) reported that uninsured
women are less likely to acquire screenings or vaccines. However, many states tried to solve the
financial problem by ensuring that private insurance companies, Medicaid, and public employee
health plans will provide coverage and reimbursement for Pap smear screening tests. The ACS
supported such coverage assurances because they removed financial barriers for women who have
health insurance, but whose insurance plans previously did not cover Pap smears (ACS, 2010). The
lack of awareness about cervical cancer is another contributing factor besides financial concerns.
According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), women with low

Internet Addiction Disorder The technology is growing strong every day. More and more people
start to use smartphone, computer, etc. In addition, the main purpose of using smartphone,
computer or any technology devices is to gain access to the Internet. Consequently, people started to
be addictive to the Internet. Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) is the term to describe the massive
using of Internet. IAD is similar with other addiction disorders such as gambling, sex, gaming, or
shopping. People who develop problems with their Internet use may start off using the Internet on
a casual basis and then progress to using the technology in dysfunctional ways. Many people
believe that spending large amounts of time on the Internet is a core feature of the disorder
(Minddisorder.com). In fact, the way that Internet is being used in daily routines is the most
important factor. Internet Addition Disorder or IAD was first noticed by Kimberly Young, PhD,
an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford. According to the
article Trap in the Web , in 1994, Young did a survey on 500 Internet users about their on line
habits. Young separated participants into two groups: dependent and non dependent. She gave
seven questions about using the Internet. If a participant answered yes to three or more questions,
he or she will be classified as a dependent. According to the survey, dependents

Beauty And Culture In Contemporary Bicano Art And A...
The term Aesthetic was originally derived from Greek. Throughout time European aesthetics
became assiociated with classy, good taste. It represented things of beauty and love. Following the
ancient Roman times the expression of art was mediated by the church. This gave the perception
that high art reflects the ideas and acheivements of the ancients, and the low art does not .(Vargas,
2009) This is basically saying that art that only represents beauty, or wealth and the better things in
life was what made up the European Aesthetic. If you have good taste it was asoociated with Greek
art. This is similar to A ChicanoAesthetic because the in reading Contemporary Chicano Art, states
how the Chicano Aesthetic represents the reality over time. Much of Chicano art historicall was
made outside the museum. For example things such as Low riders, and graffiti which can are
misunderstood because of the bias against the Chicano culture. These things are unable to be in a
museum, and are sometimes seen as an act against art. These expressions of art and culture are not
accepted because they are not contemporary and true to the European Aesthetic. As America
changes throughout this century, the aesthetic should continue to evolve just as the culture has.
The difference between this and European is that, Classical art is the standard for truth, good and
beauty. The fact is that Chicano art is actual representation of truth because art does not always
have to be pretty. There is

Characteristics Of Bespoke Documents
Outcome 3
3.1 Explain the characteristics of bespoke documents.
Bespoke business documents are documents individually or customised to meet a specific
requirement or purpose within a specific business. They are personalised to suit each business and
can include forms, publicity materials, invoices, business cards, spread sheets, databases,
letterheads, presentations, catalogues, reports, proposals etc. These are important because it places
a professional image on your company, which will attract new potential customers or will keep your
current customers interested. It is important to take into consideration when creating bespoke
documents that the purpose is to give a good impression to other businesses or customers, therefore,
documents need to be professional and well thought out. An untidy, poorly designed documentcan
severely affect an organisation s reputation with its stakeholders. Documents need to be consistent
throughout, this means the organisation s logo needs to be the same on all documents produced,
as well as the general theme, for example, you must use the same font and style like: bold/italic
/underlined etc. Also, it is preferably that in business documents should use no more than two
different fonts, as it may seem unprofessionally with more than two fonts. Fonts need to be
readable, as well as in the correct size; headings need to be larger than the main body of the text in
order to differentiate, and there should also be plenty of white space in

The Changing Lives Documentary Analysis
No treatment plan is the same for every person and every recovery is different as well for
everyone. The changing lives is a transformational documentary about the lives of a few people on
how they got out of addiction. It shows the process through their very compelling group therapy.
But most importantly, what really caught me was the program for the women, that helped them
with treatment when they were at the verge of losing their children.
Body
The group therapy was very compelling to me. I really saw that they were helping one another to
get to the root of each other s problems, digging deep and peeling at the source. Some were very
uncomfortable at first but once they saw that they had a lot of similarities with others, they slowly
started opening up. The therapist was also going deep, but it was for a cause. It was to help them
heal and move on with their lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These women were mostly from abusive homes, or addicts, because of these circumstances. The
program helps these women through treatment and helps their children too by keeping them in a
safe area like daycare while their mothers are in treatment, getting better. This program have been
an inspiration for the many ladies that have walked in it, changing so many lives around. The part
of their change that struck me the most was the day they graduate. This day signifies a milestone
in their lives of how far they ve come in their journey and how successful they been in it. It s the
sign that shows that they have finally made to the finish line and are to keep it

Explication Of The Hollow Men The explication of The Hollow Men In the famous poem The Hollow Men written by Eliot, the author depicts a land of death , which gathers a group of hollow men , not only showing the emptiness and a sense of loss of people, but also reflecting the falling of modern civilization. In his description, we can clearly see the hopeless status that the people live. In the epigraph of the poem, Eliot mentions two people called Mistah Kurtz and the old guy respectively. Mistah Kurtz is a character in the novel Heart of darknesswho is corrupted because he wanted to dominate Africa and finally he lost morality and went to death. the old guy is the man named Guy Fawkes who tried to burn the Parliament building but unluckily failed. • 5. A Short Note On Rocket Engine Combustion Instability Rocket Engine Combustion Instability Naveen Penmetsa University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, 80309 C ombustion instability has long been an area of research in the design of both aircraft and rocket engines. Specifically in terms of rocket engines, combustion instabilities occur in every type of engine including solid rocket motors, cryogenic engines, hyperbolic engines, and hydrocarbon engines. Although combustion oscillations tends to exist in almost every engine, the goal is to minimize these variations in combustion such that any pressure oscillations are below the ambient noise of the engine itself. In order to reduce the linear and nonlinear coupling that causes these instabilities, it is important to identify not only the types of oscillations that occur but also the causes for each of these oscillations. In liquid engines there are three main types of instabilities. These are chugging oscillations which are low frequency, buzzing oscillations which are of an intermediate frequency, and screeching which is a high frequency oscillation. Additionally, instabilities can oscillate in three different direction, due to the three dimensional nature of combustion. These directions are longitudinally, radially, and transversely. Flow States Effect on Liquid Engine Combustion Instability Overview The various forms of combustion instability in liquid rocket engines are directly and indirectly affected by the state of the flow from the inlet of the injector to the throat of ... Groups that faced difficulty are the gold rush pioneers, the Chinese railroad workers, and the Oregon trail emigrants. Out of the three, the Oregon Trail emigrants faced the greatest difficulty because of the harsh geography, disease, and accidents the emigrants were exposed to on the trail. Because the geography of which the Oregon ran through was rough and brutal, it had a large impact on the travellers. A rising number of Americans are struggling to make it from one paycheck or unemployment check to the next (Abramsky, 2012). In the United States, families and individuals are classified as being in poverty if their annual money income before taxes and other deductions falls below the official povertythresholds (Betson, 1977). According to the United StatesCensus Bureau, poverty is based on the number of people in a family, and who share an income less than three times the cost of food for that household. The average rate of child poverty is lowest among Whites, but Asian children are less likely to be poor than Blacks and Hispanics (Bratter and Kimbro, 2013). Although poverty is borne more heavily by minorities, the notion that poverty is only a minority problem is a meth. (Abramsky, 2012). Poverty is not shared equally across different demographic groups. African Americans children, Latino children, and children in mother only families are disproportionately poor (Corcoran and Chaudry, 1977). About 47 million Americans of all color ethnicities and backgrounds are living at or below the poverty line (Abramsky, 2012). While the poor are barely protected by a frayed social safety net and often disengaged from the decision making processes that structure their lives, confronting the root causes of poverty is discouraging and increasingly urgent (Abramsky, 2012). • 12. The Transformation of Edna Pontellier in The Awakening Essay She wanted something to happen something, anything: she did not know what (Chopin). In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the reader is introduced to Edna Pontellier, a passionate, rebellious woman. Throughout the novel, it becomes apparent how unsettled Edna feels about her life. The reader can identify this by her thoughts, desires, and actions, which are highly inappropriate for an affluent woman of the time. In the novel, Edna has an awakening and finds the courage to make the changes she sees necessary. Kate Chopin is able to make quality connections in order to symbolize her innermost desires. Chopin does this by providing references to the sea, and the birds, and then using them to foreshadow Edna s end of life decision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Awakening, Edna finds herself yearning for this type of freedom and independence. She desperately wants to be relinquished from her stagnant life of wife and motherhood. Kate Chopin chooses to represent Edna s desires through these symbolic birds. These solid references are scattered throughout the novel. They are first seen in chapter one, when Mr. Pontellier enters Madame Lebrun s: A green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door (Chopin) and, ...the mockingbird that hung on the other side of the door, whistling his fluty notes out upon the breeze with maddening persistence (Chopin). These are, arguably, the two most significant pieces of symbolism in relationship to birds. This is because the parrot and mockingbird are in cages, representing the idea that Edna feels trapped by her current life. Also, the birds are squawking at Mr. Pontellier, representing the voice Edna is unable to express for herself early on in the novel (Shmoop Editorial Team). The next reference to birds appears when Mademoiselle Reisz says to Edna: The bird that would soar above the level plain of tradition and prejudice must have strong wings (Chopin). This is understood to mean that if Edna truly needs her freedom and independence to be happy, then she must be courageous enough to go against the norms of society (Shmoop Editorial Team). ... The economic status of young people has declined significantly over the past two decades, despite a variety of programs designed to aid new workers in the transition from the classroom to the job market. Young people have a great impact on economic growth and productivity. It also costs governments and society at large a lot of money, both currently in terms of higher unemployment benefits and lost tax revenue and flow into the future through long term reduced productivity and earnings. Last but not least, being young and unemployed can lead to increase in the risk of poverty, deskilling and social exclusion as well as cause loss of motivation and mental health problems. Fresh graduates lacking experience often find themselves trapped in a vicious cycle. They often lack the experience needed to fill a job opening, which prevents them from getting employed. Thus, the job searching period for them becomes considerably longer than for experienced workers and harms their future work prospects (Vena Nedeljkovic, 2014, para. 2). Despite the nutritional and fitness literature which pervades society today, 33% of the American population continues to be overweight (Bates, 1997). The USDA recommendation for a low fat, high complex carbohydrate diet over the years has seemingly not been effective, since the proportion of overweight Americans has increased. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Popular Examples of High Protein Diets The Zone diet, as described in The Zone by Barry Sears, Ph.D. is an example of a protein adequate diet (http://web.usatoday.com/life/health/lhs641.htm). Small meals of fruits, vegetables, monounsaturated fats, and low fat proteins are advised to be eaten throughout the day. Sources of total calorie composition outlined by this dietary plan is as follows: 40% carbohydrate, 30% fat, 30% protein. The amount of fat is dictated by the amount of protein consumed at each meal. The role of fat in this diet plan is described by Dr. Sears as follows: slows the rate of carbohydrate entry into bloodstream which reduces insulin response, releases hormone (CCK) from stomach to tell brain to stop eating, and supplies the building blocks (essential fatty acids) for eicosanoids (http: //www.users.cts.com/crash/d/dbrowndc/zonefaq.htm#Unfavorable). Therefore according to this perspective, in order for the body to burn fat and weight loss to occur, insulin must be maintained within a prescribed zone (Kirby, 1997). This high protein diet is depicted as a life long hormonal control program which allows a person to maximize full genetic potential. However, if you are not responsible with a campfire, you could cause a lot of damage to the environment and even to yourself. If you are building a campfire in your backyard, set up a designated fire pit. If you are camping, be sure to use any fire pits that are set up for campfires. If the campground or camping area doesn t have a designated fire pit, be sure that the area of the fire pit, plus about 3 feet from the pit wall is clear of grass and debris. Setting up a Campfire Be sure to pick a spot that is at least 20 feet from the RV, tent or house. Once the area has been cleaned of all burnable debris, create a wall of rock or use a metal fire pit ring to keep the fire contained. For a permanent pit, dig down to the mineral dirt and then ring the pit with rocks or a metal ring. Always choose a spot that is sheltered from the wind and that is level. If you are not near a water hose, be sure to have a large container of water on hand to put out the fire should you have to do it in a hurry. Building the Fire You ll need tinder that burns easily, kindling and logs. The best way to get a fire started is to use the teepee method. Comparison Of Oedipus And Frogs To begin with, if Oedipus and Frogs are to be taken into consideration and the aspects of the plot dissected using the guidelines provided in Poetics, then based on Aristotle s definition of plot as organization of events, it can be stated that the structure of plot is the same for the two stories of opposing genres, for both have a beginning, a middle and an end one following after the other resulting in a well constructed plot not beginning or ending at any arbitrary point (Aristotle 10 13 14). However, while the character experiences a fall from good fortune to bad fortune in most tragedies, in most comedies the character experiences a fall from bad fortune to good fortune (Aristotle 21 22). In the poem Juggler by Richard Wilbur, the author uses imagery, figurative language and tone to describe the juggler as someone who brings happiness and fun to others. The use of imagery, figurative language, and tone are used to describe the juggler and reveal the speaker s own views about the world. Throughout the poem the author uses imagery to describe the juggler s appearance and the tricks he is accomplishing in his show. For example, Wilbur states, it takes a sky blue juggler with five red balls...to shake our gravity up. (lines 6 7). The author s description of the juggler as someone who can shake our gravity up (line 7) shows that the juggler is someone who has a tremendous impact on the audience and the speaker because the audience is full of serious people and the juggler evokes happiness and astonishment from the audience. Moreover, by saying this the audience is able to get an insight into the life of the speaker; we are able to see that not a lot of things happen in the speaker s life that make the speaker happy. Additionally, Wilbur shows the reader the the juggler is performing, the author says, Oh, on his toe the table is turning, the broom s Balancing up on his nose, and the plate whirls. On the tip of the broom! (lines 9 21). We can see the juggler as he is performing his great trick and how the crowd is happy and amazed at what he is accomplishing through his performance when the author says, Damn, what a show,we cry... ( line 21). Having the crowd cheer at the juggler as he completes his trick of the balancing act showed that people are made happy with small things like the juggling trick the juggler was performing for the crowd. As the poem progresses, we can see how the juggler manipulates the five red balls he is using to move around his body. Richard Wilbur uses figurative language like personification to show how the balls move by the tricks the juggler does. However, outside of media it has improved. Firstly, by the 1950 s American women had come a long way. During World War II women had entered the working environment in mass numbers, however when the war was over, many women then returned home to find their jobs were taken by the men. The next passing of women s rights laws wouldn t come until the early to mid 1960s when the Equal Pay Act was finally passed in the 1963, which meant that the gap between women s and men s pay was shortened however, women were still being paid less in various circumstances. But in the 1950 s /60 s media coverage showed women as being weak around the home and confused when it came to manly jobs . In recent years there has been a big attitude change towards women in the media. A large amount of the influence came from American TV shows that then triggered the change in British television, who were historically less likely to change their ways. In the words of John Gribbin, author of The Fellowship, [Gilbert] deserves pride of place in any account of the scientific revolution of the seventeenth century, because he was the first person to set out clearly in print the essence of the scientific ... Mayan priests would consistently take measurements using tools such as a forked stick. Using their amazing astronomical knowledge, they were able to predict future eclipses. They were also able to chart the complex motions of the sun and other astronomical bodies. Using this knowledge, they designed a calendar that was the most complex and accurate of all ancient calendars. In fact, it was only 19 minutes per year off from the actual calendar. It even contained month and week divisions. One of these months was only five days long, called the Wayeb, and was considered unlucky. In mathematics, the Mayans were quite intelligent. They developed a number system using a combination of dots and bars. These dots and bars were stacked together in piles of twenty, with the dot meaning one and the bar meaning five. • 43. How Did Edgar Allan Poe Build Suspense Edgar Allan Poe wrote many famous works of literature, some of which are: The Raven, The Fall of The House of Usher, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Black Cat. Most of his works were filled with horror as his background was one we all are glad we never had. With his background his atmospheres of horror are far better and deeper than most writers. In The Tell Tale Heart , Poe uses the setting and the sound of the beating heart to bring fear into the reader s mind. At the beginning we are brought into the mind of a man that lives alone with an elderly man. They live in a small house in a quiet neighborhood. • 44. Is The Amyloid Precursor Protein ( App ) Is Long... Introduction: The amyloid precursor protein (APP) is long associated with Alzheimer s disease (AD). It is a single pass transmembrane protein and is responsible for producing the neurotoxic AОІ plaque which accumulates within the brain (O Brien et al. 2011). This accumulation of AОІ is what characterises AD. However, in spite of APP s detrimental role in the pathogenesis of AD, it has been recently shown that APP can act as a neuroprotective molecule following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Approximately 10 million people worldwide are affected by this disease every year and it is projected that by 2020, TBI will surpass various diseases and become a major disease of burden (Hyder et al. 2007). Thus, due to this increase in morbidity and burden, TBI is an urgent medical and public problem. APP s protective role in TBI is currently understood to be the product of Й‘ secretase pathway in soluble amyloid precursor protein Й‘ (sAPPЙ‘) (Corrigan et al. 2013). This pathway was discovered in the previous year by the same researchers who used APP knockout mice. The knockout mice had cognitive and motor functions that were severely compromised with impaired neuroreparative abilities compared to its wild type counterpart (Corrigan et al. 2012). When the knockout mice were treated with sAPPЙ‘, however, their neuroreparative responses were restored. Furthermore, the protective properties of APP are often correlated with its functions of synaptic formation and repair and iron transport and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Besides ethnicity, other factors that can increase the risk of getting cervical cancer are smoking, using birth control pills for a long time, and having multiple sex partners (CDC, 2010). 2 Pertinent issues on the delivery of healthcare related to cervical cancer The two main issues that affect the delivery of healthcare related to prevention and early detection of cervical cancer are finance and the lack of awareness. Financial issues play a major role in whether or not women are screened or vaccinated for cervical cancer. The ACS (2010) reported that uninsured women are less likely to acquire screenings or vaccines. However, many states tried to solve the financial problem by ensuring that private insurance companies, Medicaid, and public employee health plans will provide coverage and reimbursement for Pap smear screening tests. The ACS supported such coverage assurances because they removed financial barriers for women who have health insurance, but whose insurance plans previously did not cover Pap smears (ACS, 2010). The lack of awareness about cervical cancer is another contributing factor besides financial concerns. According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), women with low ... • 50. Beauty And Culture In Contemporary Bicano Art And A... The term Aesthetic was originally derived from Greek. Throughout time European aesthetics became assiociated with classy, good taste. It represented things of beauty and love. Following the ancient Roman times the expression of art was mediated by the church. This gave the perception that high art reflects the ideas and acheivements of the ancients, and the low art does not .(Vargas, 2009) This is basically saying that art that only represents beauty, or wealth and the better things in life was what made up the European Aesthetic. If you have good taste it was asoociated with Greek art. This is similar to A ChicanoAesthetic because the in reading Contemporary Chicano Art, states how the Chicano Aesthetic represents the reality over time. Much of Chicano art historicall was made outside the museum. For example things such as Low riders, and graffiti which can are misunderstood because of the bias against the Chicano culture. These things are unable to be in a museum, and are sometimes seen as an act against art. These expressions of art and culture are not accepted because they are not contemporary and true to the European Aesthetic. As America changes throughout this century, the aesthetic should continue to evolve just as the culture has. The difference between this and European is that, Classical art is the standard for truth, good and beauty. The fact is that Chicano art is actual representation of truth because art does not always have to be pretty. There is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
