Speech About Thanksgiving
As an American Muslim my family never celebrated thanksgiving but growing up in America I have
appreciated, and admired this wonderful western holiday because, it has so much more meaning than
just having great food amongst family and friends. I have learned and understood that it s time to
reflect and understand what we are thankful for, and the words thankfulness and giving back are
words that are very powerful in transforming, and understanding ourselves as human beings. As a
Muslim, my family always reminded us before any action we take we must be thankful, and
appreciative of what God has given us, which is very much similar in comparison to the western
holiday of thanksgiving and that is very enlightening in the sense that even though

Essay On Miranda Rights Warning
In many cases of arrest in the United States, there is the reading of one very important warning. This
warning is known as the Miranda Rights. The other official title that this warning was given though is
the Miranda Warning. The Miranda Rights though, tell every citizen who is at least the suspect of a
crime, that they are not required to speak to any person of authority who is questioning them for any
reason. That is, unless they feel the need to do so. These rights notify suspects and citizens also, that
they have the right to an attorney, and that if they cannot afford one, that there still will be one that is
provided for them.
Our country s citizens all deserve to have their Miranda Rights read to them when being taken into
custody by police. Honestly, our citizens not only deserve it, they need it. Having these rights read to
them can save them from lots of legal issues later on in life. So, whether the police really think a
person committed a crime or not should not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
today. This causes our country s percentage of citizens who know their rights to go down quite a bit.
This is because of the simple fact that when people from another country enter ours, these immigrants
do not always know everything about the country they re going into. Countries other than ours always
have different laws and ideas of what is right and what is wrong, so what is against the law in America
may be perfectly safe or legal in their country.
The right to hire a lawyer or an attorney is very important also. Having this right can help citizens who
do not work well with authorities, have someone there with them while being questioned about these
matters. This lawyer being present at the time of interrogation, can remind their client of their rights,
and help them to understand the laws they haven t heard of or just simply don t understand. This is
especially true when the suspect is foreign or uneducated in

Stop Motion Animation
Stop motion animation requires the shooting of physically manipulated still objects to appear as
moving objects.
Some use dolls, props or clay (also known as called Claymation) to sequentially move an object in
between individually shot frames.
Depending on the preference of the director, stop motion animation may also require either traditional
or computer animation to supplement the movie s other visual requirements such as the backgrounds,
sets, and props.
Examples of stop motion animation on TV are commonly children s shows such as Morph, Shaun the
sheep, Bagpuss, The Clangers, Noddy and Wallace and Gromit s World of Invention.
The advantage of stop motion animation is that you can be creative because there aren t many
limitations on what you can do with an object like you do in real life.
The disadvantage is that it s very time consuming and extremely laborious and you have to make sure
the camera s still because one little slip up shows very clearly.
Clay animation:
It is similar to stop motion animation however using clay. It works by capturing each frame and then
playing the recorded shots to see a live action.
Clay animation films were created in the 1908 s, however it s in 1916 that it started to become popular
overseas.
Each clay character is produced by using a wire and clay, the wire is called an armature.
The disadvantage of clay is that it s very fragile therefor when producing and shooting the characters

Case Study Of Yield Management
Yield Management Yield management is an approach that seeks to maximize revenue by using
strategy of variable pricing; prices are set relative to capacity availability. Yield management is an
approach that is generally used in airline and hotel industry. It is basically used to increase the
profitability of business which provides perishable or fixed resources such as seats in airlines or rooms
in hotels. It is an integral part of business theory which makes use of set of tactics or maximization
strategies that would help to improve the business s focus on the yield. It is an approach that balances
various elements of marketing, finance and operations management. Yield management mainly

Theme Of Alcohol In A Streetcar Named Want
I was so smashed the previous evening that I undermined my better half, however I don t recall it, so
does it check? Individuals intuitively attempt to put fault on anything besides themselves, and liquor
presents itself as the ideal escape course for a feeling of remorse. Individuals regularly wind up
settling on imprudent choices all the more as often as possible while affected by liquor. In any case,
what amount of poor conduct would alcohol be able to pardon before a man must acknowledge the
results for their own behavior? Tennessee Williams dives into the topic of liquor reliance all through
his play, A Streetcar Named Want. All through the play, both Blanche and Stanley appear to depend
vigorously upon alcohol. Liquor is utilized as both a brace and a reason for poor conduct in A
Streetcar Named Want, and has turned out to be much more predominant in the present society.
All through A Streetcar Named Want, Blanche Dubois, the hero, as often as possible uses liquor to get
away from the insanity that she faces every day because of the loss of both her gay spouse and her
fortune, ... withdrawing further into a universe of imagination and cunningly advanced stratagem ( A
Streetcar Named Want Topic of Medications and Liquor ). After entering the Kowalski s family,
Blanche presents herself with half of a tumbler of bourbon. This demonstration foretells her out and
out reliance on the substance. It is clear all through the play that she tries to keep up her blue blooded

Propaganda Techniques Today s Advertising By Anne Mcclintock
In the essay, Propaganda Techniques in Today s Advertising by Anne McClintock, McClintock shows
seven different ways that propaganda is used. One mostly used by advertisement today would be
Glittering Generalities, using positive words to bring attraction to their product while concealing the
actual meanings. They will use inspiring words that are very vague that the consumer would not really
understand what the product would really do to benefit them but would be inspired to buy it anyways.
Another technique mostly used would be Testimonial, were producers would pay celebrities to
advertise their product for them since they have more fame than normal actors. Advertisement used
today is targeted to make the consumer believe that what they are paying for is the real deal when it is
only beneficial for the producers. Advertisements are used to promote a product by the positive effects
enthusiastically but when describing the side effects they are done fast and in small letters. When one
watches a commercial in the television, or hears it on the radio, one mostly hears the what the
producers wants them to hear. They will explain their product, giving the pros of what it was made to
do and how its a better option than other products in the market. When they are done with their sale at
the very end most of commercials give you in small font the rest of the financial information,
additional fees, or even side effects with a very fast voice most of the time reading it to you.

Essay on Conduct Disorder in Adolescents
Conduct Disorder in Adolescents
Everyday we are hearing more and more about a child or teen that has committed some horrible act.
On Tuesday April 27, 2004 a twelve year old Georgia boy was arrested for allegedly using his hands
to strangle a third grader who disappeared while riding her bicycle (McLaughlin, 2004). In February, a
twelve year old girl was beaten to unconsciousness by a group of adolescents and young adults while
at a birthday party in Baltimore. The question we must ask ourselves is where are the parents? Sadly,
in the case of the Baltimore girl, one of the young adults was the parent of one of the children. How do
children learn that violent and socially deviant behavior is acceptable? Both of these scenarios ...

The belief that the family structure and parenting practices have morally declined can be traced back
to the early 1940 s in America. In an interview with C. Moran, LCSW C (personal communication,
April 8, 2004), she described a time where families lived very close to, if not on the same street as
their extended family. Aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents would all participate in the raising of
the children, it takes a village to raise a child (C Moran, April 8, 2004). In some cases, the
grandparents would teach the parents how to parent. As time moved on into the freeness of the 1960 s
and 1970 s, parenting became more passive. Children at a young age were allowed to make decisions
that ten years ago would have been made by their parents. The belief was to allow the child to make
their own mistakes and they would receive the repercussions from society. As a result, more freedom
of choice would be given to the child. Now, with the children of the sixties and seventies having
offspring of their own, the millennial generation , and extended families spread out globally, active
and involved parenting is becoming a thing of the past.
Recent research has found that time spent by the parent in home with the child has steadily declined.
Eberstadt states that the average American teenager now spends about three and a half hours alone
every day; more over,

Comparing The Portrait Of Sally Fairchild By John Singer...
For my term paper I decided to go to the Cantor Museum in Palo Alto, and I chose to focus on two
portraits of women from two distinct time periods. First, I decided on the portrait of Margaret Blagge,
Wife of Sidney, 1st Earl of Godolphin. This portrait was painted by the artist Matthew Dixon in 1675,
in the Baroque period of art. The portrait of Margaret Blagge was done in England, and it was painted
as an oil on canvas. The second artwork I chose to compare was the Portrait of Sally Fairchild by John
Singer Sargent. This portrait was done from the year 1884 to 1887 during the Realism movement in
art. The portrait of Sally Fairchild was painted in the United States of America, and was painted as an
oil on canvas. When comparing these two portraits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Value is the relative darkness or lightness of a painting, and it assists in creating volume for a painting
as well. In Matthew Dixon s painting, the Portrait of Margaret Blagge, the value falls under tenebrism.
Chiaroscuro is the contrast between dark and light in a painting, and tenebrism is an extreme case of
chiaroscuro, with a violent contrast between dark and light. Dixon was able to have Margaret Blagge
stand out from the background by composing the whiteness of her skin directly next to the darkness of
the background. By using tenebrism, Matthew Dixon was able to achieve a great deal of volume in his
painting. Where the whiteness of Margaret Blagge s skin touches the darkness of the background it is
as though she can be lifted out of her frame. John Singer Sargent s Portrait of Sally Fairchild, is
different in comparison to Matthew Dixon s portrait, because there is not much chiaroscuro in it. The
most evident contrast between dark and light is the transition from the shadows fallen on the left side
of Sally Fairchild s body and her white skin. The contrast of shadow to the face helps create the
volume of her chin against her neck. Both paintings are different, yet they both have a sense of
volume, despite having used different

Falling For Distractions In The Odyssey
Students all over the nation are currently studying for the SATs hoping for that perfect 1600. However,
many of these students often get thrown off task by tweets, snaps, and other distractions; these small
temptations may not seem like much in the moment, but we realize the true effects of them after we
earn a score much lower than anticipated. Even though we may realize the negative impacts of falling
for distractions, we cannot resist the gravitational pull of our smartphone devices. In Homer s epic
entitled The Odyssey, Odysseus and his shipmates are nearing the end of their journey back to Ithaca
when they land on the island of Thrinacia. During their stay, food supplies run low and they become

Odysseus hope of returning home to Ithaca drift further away as they continue to defy the all mighty

and make/splinters of their ship in the wine dark sea (Homer 712:918 919). A lightning bolt alludes to
death because of destruction it can generate. Zeus executes Odysseus remaining shipmates in order to

Taylor Swift Figurative Language
Almost everything in life can be viewed by different perspectives and almost everything is interpreted
in a multitude of ways. This also applies to love and relationships. Love is so expansive and
intricate that it takes a whole life time to try to explain and feel it. When trying to explain love
some expressed love to be beautiful, miraculous and joyous. However, others portrayed the dark
side of love; the hurt, the harsh reality, and broken hearts. Taylor Swift represented that same
unhappiness that is associated with love in her music. In her song Forever and Always Taylor
Swift exemplified her pain through the lyrics. In the sixth stanza of her song Taylor sang, Oh, I

slight bitter sweet tone through the song and it is exemplified through the lyrics. It is almost as if
he resents himself for still being in love with this girl even after the pain of rejection she has put
him through. Turner s feelings never change towards this girl. He is still in love with her no
matter what.
The Arctic Monkeys song, Do I Wanna Know? uses figurative language terms such as
metaphors, repetition, and personification to express the natural responses to fear of rejection and
the desperation held onto when one wants still to hold onto a love that may or may not be there.
Turner knew one thing for sure; that he was madly in love with this one girl and that he was
willing to go after her by whatever means necessary. Yet again Turner still had some hesitation.
This proved that point that there is always an uncertainty in love because no one is guaranteed
that the person they love feels the same way. It is a natural instinct to want to feel accepted and it
is heartbreaking to find out that the person he loved, did not even accept him. Alex turned to

Essay on Use of Water in Margaret Laurence s The Stone Angel
Water can symbolize many things throughout the novel. Whether it is in Manawaka, the Pacific Coast
or Shadow point, what is constantly recognized in the number of times water is used. If one were to
closely examine these situations, they would soon discover it s symbolic importance. In the novel The
Stone Angel, water is presented in the many fluctuations, in Hagar s life. Hagar goes through many
stages in her life, where water is represented but without it being physically present. Without the
imagery of water, the story would be less effective and meaningful for the reader.
When Hagar reaches Shadow Point, hungry and confused, she eats some food from her paper bag. She

It is meant to do well but it can also do harm. When one reaches a point where they must have water
but all that is available, is salt water, where it can do harm if one tries to drink it. It can also
demoralize their hope. The novel states, It was at dusk, all shapes and colors having turned grey and
indefinite, that my brother Daniel, skating backward to show off for the girls, fell in. ; (23, The Stone
Angel) Hagar doesn t really tell the pain she felt for losing her brother because she wasn t really one to
express her emotions. This is one of the lower points in Hagar s life that shows how water can kill.
After Hagar is found by Marvin and Doris, she is taken to the Hospital. Here she complains plenty
about the conditions. When staying around Mrs. Jardine, Eva says, Mercy, does my hair ever need a
good wash. ; (266, The Stone Angel) This just goes to show how little they wash at the hospital. When
one in cleaned with water, they feel cleaner because they know that they smell and look fresher. Hagar
goes on to say, A person can t give their hair a wash without permission. ; (270, The Stone Angel) This
is just like saying a person can t look clean without permission in a hospital. This is depriving people
of their need for cleanliness. Hagar needs to be clean in her own eyes because she is so concerned
about what others think of her.

Hester Prynne Scarlet Letter
In On the Scarlet Letter, D. H. Lawrence criticizes Hester Prynne, the protagonist of Nathaniel
Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, for deceiving the public about the nature of her sin of adultery. He
perceives Hester Prynne as a mere seducer who disguises her sin with a pretense of purity. In his
essay, Lawrence effectively demonstrates that Hester Prynne is not a character that deserves our
sympathy through the use of choppy, repetitive syntax, relevant allusions to other literature, and a
biting, sarcastic tone. One method that Lawrence uses to effectively criticize Hester Prynne s actions
is the use of blunt, redundant syntax. Throughout his essay, he condenses his ideas into brief sentences
that directly introduce the point. For instance, Lawrence succinctly summarizes the ... Show more

In the beginning of his essay, Lawrence references The Deerslayer, a novel by James Fenimore
Cooper, in which the Deerslayer [refuses] to be seduced by Judith Hutter (Lawrence). Lawrence
alludes to the Deerslayer and Judith Hutter to assert that seduction does not necessarily have to
succeed in wooing men. Therefore, Hester Prynne s act of adultery could have been avoided and thus
should not be excused and forgiven. Furthermore, Lawrence mockingly refers to Hester as Mary of the
Bleeding Heart and another Magdalen (Lawrence). In both instances, he alludes to biblical female
figures who are perceived as repentant and innocent. However, Lawrence sarcastically incorporates
this analogy, implying that Hester Prynne is the opposite of a pure woman. By comparing her to
women who are known for their abstinence, Lawrence ironically emphasizes Hester s adultery, which
negates her supposed purity. Throughout his essay, Lawrence alludes to characters who have
overcome temptations of sexual desires in order to provide a stark contrast to Hester Prynne s immoral

quality of its products, its uniqueness, and the satisfaction that it offers through its products (tea).
PROMOTION STRATEGY
In terms of promotion strategy, to promote Zealong to Malaysians, Zealong should do thorough
research on what form of promotion that may catch attention of possible consumers fast and effective.
Perhaps Zealong may go for outdoor advertising. Placing ads on boards placed on highway roadsides.
Malaysians especially those living in the busy cities, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Johor Bahru spend
long hours on the road due to traffic jams. Hence, outdoor advertising is certainly reliable in Malaysia.
However, to stand out from others, the ad should be designed with creativity. BOH has come up with a
very creative advertising, placing its ads on sliding doors.

Contemporary Ethical Issues In Utilitarianism
There are many contemporary ethical problems that societies face without having a solid response.
Most of these problems come from the conflict caused by the different ways these problems can be
interpreted. There are also many ethical theories that defend the different views to such problems.
Among these theories we can mention Virtue Ethics, Utilitarianism, Kantianism, etc. I think there is
one of these theories that is very interesting in nature: Utilitarianism. In this work I will be giving a
brief explanation of Utilitarianism, as well as discussing the character of consequentialist or not
consequentialist of this ethical theory. Also, I will analyze each of the contemporary issues studied in
this unit based on Utilitarianism, as well as mentioning anecdotes that pertain to such conflicts.
Like other forms of consequentialism, utilitarianism s core idea is that whether actions are morally
right or wrong depends on their effects (). Utilitarianism is a moral principle that holds that the
morally right course of action in any situation is the one that produces the greatest balance of benefits
over harms for everyone affected (). The only problem I see with this ethical theory is that an action
that could be generally considered unethical can be the one that produces the most value for the
greatest amount of people; therefore, that unethical action will be an ethical action under the utilitarian
view. A concrete example of the idea just mentioned can be easily found with

Reflections on my Plant Engineering Summer Internship at United Parcel Service
Introduction
My Plant Engineering (PE) internship experience at United Parcel Service (UPS) allowed me to utilize
all that I have learned at Florida Polytechnic University and apply it to real world work experience.
Thus expanding upon my previous knowledge while simultaneously allowing me to grow in new ways
that cannot be taught in the classroom. Interning at UPS has helped highlight my fortes and flaws as
not only an engineering student, but also as a young adult entering the professional world. Through
firsthand daily coaching and mentoring from senior engineers, I discovered that communication is the
key to being successful as an individual and as a team. Encouraging social cognizance provides a
necessary balance within a company.
Getting the Job An INROADS alumni told me about an organization called INROADS and
encouraged me to go online and apply for their paid summer internship program. INROADS is a non
profit company that focuses on developing and placing talented underserved youth in business and
industry, and prepares them for corporate and community leadership (INROADS, 2011). The
organization is currently expanding their STEM program. So, my Florida Polytechnic education along
with their internship program was a great match. The program is highly selective with a rigorous
application process. Of more than 11,000 applicants just over 1,000 earn internships

The Death Of Ivan Ilych
Sigmund Freud, the founder of modern day psychology and psychoanalysis, described human
consciousness as the combination of three elements, id, ego and superego. The id is what controls our
personal desires, the superego controls our ideas about where we fit in society and the ego is in
between these two elements balancing their effects to help us make rational decisions. Despite the fact
that these theories were developed well after Flaubert wrote Madame Bovary or Tolstoy wrote The
Death of Ivan Ilych the main characters of each (Emma and Ivan) both represent people who have
become dominated by one aspect of their subconscious. Whereas Emma is dominated by her id,
seeking only selfish pleasures in life, Ivan is dominated by his ... Show more content on

This attitude of Emma is most apparent in a scene towards the end of the novel in which Emma
attends a masquerade ball with Leon in Rouen. After the dance they go to a seedy restaurant where
Emma has a fainting spell. After recovering, she thought of Berthe, sleeping in the maid s room back
in Yonville (252). After a loud cart rumbles by, disrupting her train of thought, the next thing she
thinks is everything, including herself, seemed unbearable to her. She wished she could fly away like a
bird and make herself young again somewhere in the vast purity of space (252). Here, Flaubert
juxtaposes the image of Emma s pre school aged child sleeping with her desire to restart her life and
try again. These contrasting images powerfully show Emma s indifference towards her child, and
reveal her complete selfishness.
While her feelings towards her daughter show how Emma is controlled by her id, she also displays a
lack of superego function, as she commonly is unconcerned with the rules of society. At the peak of
her relationships with both Rodolphe and Leon, Emma defiantly chooses to not to care if she is seen in
public with her lovers. This lack of discretion finally works against her when one day in Rouen,
Monsieur Lheureux met her as she was leaving the Hôtel de Boulogne on Leon s arm. She was
frightened, for she was sure he would talk. But he was not foolish enough to do that.

Analysis Of Dante s Inferno ( Hell )
Lisa Gambrell
Armond Boudreaux
ENGL 2111
22 November 2015
Dante s Journey Dante s Inferno (Hell) is the first book from The Divine Comedy. The literary work is
an allegory telling about Dante s journey through Hell. The inscription on the gates of Hell read,
ABANDON EVERY HOPE, ALL YOU WHO ENTER (line 9). The chief punishment of all the
inhabitants of the Inferno is no hope. They have no have no hope of salvation, no hope of release, no
hope of any improvement, or escape from their punishments. Each inhabitant is punished in a fashion
befitting their crime. For centuries, the meaning of justice is a controversial question. The
punishments in Dante s Hell are justified in proportion to their sin. The Ante Inferno is like a hall
before entering a church of government building. The Ante Inferno is essentially a vestibule into Hell.
The people here are the ones who are rejected by God and not accepted by the powers of Hell . The
souls are nowhere because of their cowardly refusal to make a choice in life . Their punishment is to
follow a banner at a furious pace forever, and to be tormented by flies and hornets (Canto III Intro pg.
1607). These people chose themselves. They chase a blank banner which is nothing. They chose their
fate to choose nothing. The punishment is justified because they are nothing so they chase nothing.
Circle one is reserved for the Virtuous Pagans. It is like a state of limbo. It is like a toss up. It has no
progress. If you were born before

Education Is An Important Part Of Life
Education is an important part of life even for people who are already educated, but education never
ends. As a matter of fact, intelligence is constantly increasing, so educated people should not waste
such educations with unnecessary leisure activities like watching television when a person can
continually improve his or her education. In today s culture, an educated person should spend more
time reading than watching television because reading builds the reader s vocabulary and reinforces
the prior knowledge of particular terminology, but watching television requires no active thinking.
Challenging the mind is one of the greatest ways to improve it, so reading at higher levels, regardless
of age or education status, will build the vocabulary of a reader, thus making the reader a more
knowledgeable person. When a reader stumbles across an unfamiliar word in a sentence, he or she
may use context clues to figure out the meaning of the word, or this person could simply look up the
word in a dictionary or similar source. Seeing unfamiliar words challenges a reader s mind because
each word is introduced multiple times in order to define it: once when reading the sentence the first
time, twice after reading it the second time, three times in order to look up the word, and four times
when the reader uses the word s definition in place of the term in the sentence. These re introductions
build a reader s vocabulary which is important because having a stronger vocabulary allows a

Brief Summary Of The Barony Of Thunder-10-Tronckh
Candide is a young man who lives in the Barony of Thunder ten tronckh. There, he is instructed by the
philosopher Pangloss, whose doctrine is that we live in the best of all possible worlds. One day, the
Baron s daughter Cunégonde comes across Pangloss having sex with Paquette, her mother s
chambermaid. Inspired, she approaches Candide, intending to do the same. Unfortunately, the two are
caught kissing. Furious, the Baron kicks Candide out of Thunder ten tronckh. Candide wanders from
place to place, and is eventually tricked by two Bulgarian soldiers into joining their army. He performs
well in military exercises, but flees like a coward in the first battle.
Candide makes his way to Holland, because he has heard it is a rich country. There, he begs for
money, generally without success. The wife of a Protestant orator dumps a chamber pot over his head

Outraged, the Baron attacks Candide, who stabs him through the stomach in self defense. Candide

Divisions in the Presidents Administration Caused by the...
Although war comes with risk, leaders often find it inevitable when it comes to assuring the safety of
their citizens. The Vietnam War was a significant movement in history that extended from 1965 1973
through the political years of Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon. The antiwar movement
caused division within the administration as to the deciding factors of the United States involvement
in Vietnam. Their decisions caused the most traumatizing event of the 20th Century. More than two
decades ago the longest war ended, yet questions remain unanswered: what was the motivation of
President Kennedy and his administration (Nolting, Lodge, Rusk and McNamara) to get involved in
the Vietnam War, the role of Diem and the escalation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1961, Kennedy sent 400 Green Beret soldiers to Saigon to teach South Vietnamese how to fight a
war without help from American military troops. Kennedy insisted that it was their war, to win or
loose, observing that the US favored whatever helps the war effort.
Despite US efforts Vietnam was not totally successful against pro Communist. By 1963, faced with a
catastrophe, Kennedy was convinced that he had to choose between his own destiny (and reelection)
and the interests of Vietnam. The US was forced to increase their military involvement from
approximately 800 to 16,000 and provide additional resources and advisors, but they maintained their
position to not intervene with troops. Kennedy had no intentions of abandoning the cause he felt was
his hope for a second term. After meeting with his advisors and facing reality it was clear to the
Kennedy Administration that Diem was incapable of running the government and it was time to take
action. The course of action was to encourage a coup to overthrow President Diem. However, there
was confusion within the camp because not everyone agreed this was the correct choice of action. Did
the tactics used to solve problems by the Kennedy administration cause the US to move forward when
in fact we should have remained still?

Dental School Experience
1. One of the factors that I considered when looking into dental schools was the ability to establish a
strong foundational knowledge that will allow students to excel in their respective fields. When
looking at Boston University, I found that by offering a rigorous course load, GSDM was able to
produce some of the most renown dentists in the country. Secondly, the combination of their amazing
professors and a state of the art clinic which allow students to practice their skills on patients was one
of the most enticing factors that drew me to this university. Thirdly, the CAGS graduate study program
for specialties was one of the main factors that caught my eyes. Since I am looking to attend a

ethic, an open mind, and a caring personality will lead one far in life. Having a fondness for
challenging tasks, I would be able to help figure out complicated equations or problems by bringing in
different perspectives. While I do enjoy working alone, I also enjoy working with groups. I was
reminded by my college professors that I teach as I learn, as in I always strive to help those around me
grow and develop with me. Studying by oneself is an important skill to have, but communicating and
working with classmates is even more important. Using my interpersonal skills, I believe that I would
be able to connect students to work together. Finally, I can bring a sense of humor to the classroom. I
know that dental school is a place of focus, but I believe that having a balance of humor and focus is
crucial to prevent students from being stressed. During stressful times, many people burn out, but
when humor is incorporated within a classroom environment, not only will the students benefit, but
the professors will benefit as well. I would contribute to the school by integrating myself within one of
the schools organized groups, such as the American Student Dental Association or the Asian Dental

Why Pursue Legal Education
Through the trajectory of my life, there have been many experiences that have contributed to my drive
to pursue a legal education and seek social justice. From my family, to my volunteer activities, to my
present employment; every single thing I have taken part in over the last 21 years has played a role in
my desire to study and practice law.
Last December, I received the most definitive phone call of my university career. I was selected
amongst a high number of applicants to be the Head of the Social Science Orientation Program. I had
committed countless hours to this program, my team, our charity initiatives, and my first year
mentees. I was now responsible for selecting, training, and leading 90 volunteers through the
execution of a successful orientation week, and first year, for 1,700 incoming students. Beyond my
designated role of implementing programming and managing a $20,000 budget, I had two crucial
obligations within this position. First, I was to build a team with strong leadership skills, to ensure that

Joni E. Johnston Psy.D. Writes in an article in Psycology today that since the 1970 s research has
consistently reported childhood cruelty towards animals as the first warning sign of later delinquency,
violence and criminal behaviour. In fact nearly all violent perpetrators have a history of animal cruelty
in their profiles. Albert de Salvo, the Boston Strangler found guilty of killing 13 women, shot arrows
through dogs and cats he trapped as a child. Colombine shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold
boasted about mutilating animals for fun.
Obviously cruelty towards animals is of great concern to psychologists in human behaviour in its
developing stages and prove to be a warning sign of things to come. Should we not then look more
closely at ourselves when we are adults, fully formed human beings and ask ourselves if it is just as, in
fact much more disconcerting and disturbing, when we so ruthlessly harm animals. If a human being
is willing to inflict such great harm upon an animal, is it not possible that he/she is capable of

Philosophy Of Christian Education
All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy
3:16 17). Throughout the Bible, God mentions the importance of teaching children and young adults
the message of God s Word. The Bible equips us for our everyday lives of service. One of the ways we
can assist parents in this task of teaching their children is through Christian education. , I have formed
a philosophy of education using the light of God s Word and research from psychology scholars like
Piaget, Maslow, and Vygotsky. From these scholars, research, and God s Word, I know the uniqueness
of each learner and the role of caregivers and parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God has given children caregivers as their first teacher. God says in Deuteronomy 6:6 7, These
commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk
about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when
you get up. Parents are responsible for teaching their children God s truth and teachers are blessed to
be entrusted to help parents accomplish this task. As a teacher, my goal is not to replace the caregiver
s instruction of their children, but instead I want to be a helper in the education of their child. I need to
be the support and encouragement for caregivers to help them teach their children. One way I can help
the parents is by communicating what is happening in the classroom and about what their child has
accomplished. I can be available to talk to parents whenever they need me. Open communication is
one of the best ways I can support parents. Some examples of this communication could be through
conferences, emails, text messages, and phone calls. Parents can support the teacher by helping their
student love learning. If a parent is excited about what is happening at school, the child may be more
excited. In addition parents can help by communicating with the teacher anything about the child that
may be helpful. Caregivers know so much more about the student than the teacher will,

Sexism And The Star System In Architecture Analysis
Sexism and the star system in architecture In her article, Denise Scott Brown brings to light her
personal experience as being a female architect and the sexism that she had come across. Brown
describes how sexism is not outright, as she states that many young female architects do not
understand the need for the feminist movement as they had never experienced such sexism in school.
Rather, sexism appeared through the words of architecture critics, in meetings, and architectural
magazines. Despite her impactful personal statement in the frustrations she felt in a gender
discriminated occupation, the article lacked context. Denise Scott Brown described her struggles with
her lack of acknowledgement and the internal struggles she felt: her waning sense of self worth and
displeasure from her growing hostile personality. Also, she was extremely thorough with her
description of how architecture critics used the star system to attribute all collaborated ideas to a
single entity. Yet, she does not really mention how sexism is a larger cultural issue, as she is too busy
emphasizing the sexism she faced in the workforce. I believe that adding cultural context would
broaden the article by revealing the motivation behind sexist attitudes. For example, with the critique

The question of What is History? is answered through philosophical questions. This led to many
tangents which could confuse readers and retract from the strength of the thesis. Furthermore, the
concept of history being based on facts almost seems to be refuted as the author states that facts are
not always concrete. An example of this is when the Carr mentions that articles are seen as a form of
fact, however, that documents only tell what the author of the document believed had happened. Such
a rebuttal causes confusion on whether to trust historic facts, as all as they seem to be all

What Is The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Flood stories are a part of most ancient civilizations throughout the whole world. Yet arguably the
most well known is the story of Noah and the Ark. Today I am going to go over the other main flood
stories most closely related with the former, and show proof that out of the numerous flood narratives,
this is the most factual and realistic of all of them. First off we have the ancient Mesopotamian
narrative Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is told a story by, an immortal man, that long ago the gods
had decided to destroy the whole world by sending a flood. Upon hearing this information the man
Utanapishtim was able to build a giant ship that he stored all different species of creatures on, and
even some craftsmen for after the flood. Historians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet if it were a copy of such a story, why would all of the dimensions for the ship be factually checked
out as stable and realistic, the ability for caring and keeping alive all of the animals mentioned in both
stories, and that neither the Sumerians or the Israelites were known for their nautical skills. Sumerians
were the first to write the flood account in cuneiform then the Akkadian s carried it on, there were two
types of dialects Babylonian and Assyrian and they each had their own version of the flood story. This
shows that they were recounting the stories that they have been told, writing it in their own style.
Scholars of the Christian faith believe that the recounting of the Noah s flood was told orally and
passed down until Moses eventually wrote it to be apart of the bible. So this makes the origins of the
bible older then all of the other flood

Emergency Medical Technician Program Essay
Regarding the Emergency Medical Technician program, we announced changes at EMC. The change
included the need for an additional day of training (from three to four days) peer EMT refresher. This
change affects the plan in place that stated a member would be able to perform a UTA reschedule on a
Sunday following the refresher provided it was the same quarter. The effort was made to minimize the
staffing effect on Saturday clinic. However, even with the success of the past couple of cycles, this
change is out of our hands.
The issue was addressed during the past UTA training meeting. On the table included...
1. Looking into making the two days or all four as AT
2. Reschedule a Sunday on the front and on the back end of the Apr or Aug dates
3. Reschedule a two day UTA and support the clinic with CCATT and ancillary agents
After discussing the options, to ensure legality, with TSgt Edwards. I would like to make my
recommendation and provide reasoning. Each 4N0XX member is required to maintain one EMT
refresher per two year cycle. EMT refresher does not count towards CEUs the first time taken, but a
member may sit in a session after and earn CEU credit. That means a near even split of 30 40
members needing the refresher per year. Further thinning those numbers across two sessions mean
approximately 15 members each. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This year the cycle is tied to the Mar super UTA and the May MEDBEACH UTA. In order to achieve
training and fit the guidelines of AFI 36 2254 we would have members attending refresher in Apr to
reschedule Jun UTA and Aug reschedule Sep. This enables the member to attend all training available
as well as stay within the quarter window. One added consideration pointed out by TSgt Edwards is
any member with a prior excusal 40A may be converted to EQT status for the

Similarities Between Rip Van Winkle And Young Goodman Brown
Nature: An Escape from Reality Throughout the story of Rip Van Winkle written by Washington
Irving and the tale of Young Goodman Brown authored by Nathaniel Hawthorne, nature acts as a
refuge for both of the main characters in the stories. In the story of Rip Van Winkle, Rip ventures into
the woods to escape his nagging wife at home, using the setting of nature as a refuge from his life at
home to escape his miserable home life. Rip s wife nags so much that he uses the Kaatskill mountains
as a refuge from her henpecking ways, ...his wife kept continually dinning in his ears about his
idleness, his carelessness, and the ruin he was bringing on his family. Morning, noon, and night, her
tongue was incessantly going. (956). In contrast, in the story of Young Goodman Brown, Goodman
Brown leaves his wife, Faith, for three months to complete a suspicious errand in the woods. In
contrast to Rip, Goodman Brown uses nature as a refuge from his faith in God, not his nagging wife at
home, in fact he loves his wife dearly. Despite the fact that nature is an apparent topic throughout both
stories, it is my claim that Washington Irving does a better job of presenting the use of the theme of
nature being a refuge due to his use of symbolism, setting, and characters to illustrate the theme that
nature acts as a a refuge. The story of Rip Van ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hard Work Pays Off
Our coaches had told us since the beginning that the months and months we would spend preparing

March 2015, I competed in the IHSDTA Dance team competition with my fellow teammates and
members of the NHS dance team. We walked into the vast, expansive Fieldhouse knowing that it was
the largest High School Fieldhouse in the Nation. The anticipation in the air was electric and full of
excited chatter of girls who had been preparing for months for this one day... actually for these two

We were a pom and hip hop team. Because this was Noblesville s first year competing, opposing
teams arrived with low expectations for us, and they also showed a polite disregard for our team. I was

Notes On The Price Of Wheat Futures
Strategy 1:
Concerns regarding fluctuations in the price of a certain commodity in the coming future can secured
through the use of different derivative products. In the given case, prime concern of the management
of Karl s bakery is to protect itself against the future variations in the price of the wheat, as it can
impact their business in a significant way. The suitable option for the bakery is to take long position in
December wheat futures contracts as the management procures bulk of the wheat in December. It will
provide Karl s management hedge against unanticipated rise in the price of wheat. The bakery needs
to purchase almost 25,000 bushels of wheat. Therefore, 5 contracts have been purchased (each
contract is based on 5,000 bushels of wheat). Price of each contract is $5.08, and total cost of this
strategy stands at $127,000.
This position in closed on 27th October. The price of wheat futures has risen from $5.08 to $ 5.11
during the period. This price rise translated into positive gains for the bakery as it indicated rise in the
price of the underlying commodity. The management has remained successful in hedging its price risk
by taking long position in wheat futures.
Strategy 2:
Primary apprehension of a corn seller is decline in the price commodity which will impact his
revenues negatively. Short position in corn futures will lock in the future price of the corn and will
guarantee the locked price of the commodity, irrespective of the actual market price of the

Given the rate at which smartphone are penetrating the market and component prices are declining by
2015 there will be, at least, 2 billion smart mobile devices in use globally. (Kenney, 2011).
Smartphone sales will be driven by two main factors, BI Intelligence says:
Replacement of nearly 5 billion dumb phones with smartphones (smartphones currently make up only
10% of handsets worldwide)
Price declines. The average price of a smartphone will drop from about $315 last year to $200 over the
next several years
This will obviously have a huge impact on the mobile Internet economy, which is already exploding
from the growth of smartphone penetration in the past few years.
Some other highlights from the report:
Smartphone unit sales will grow at nearly a 30% compound annual growth rate over the next five
years
Smartphones will represent about two thirds of all mobile phone purchases by 2016,
Smartphones will be a $320 billion market by 2016.
Competition Situation
At the time Apple recognized the need for a handheld mobile device the market players were a few

  • 2. Speech About Thanksgiving As an American Muslim my family never celebrated thanksgiving but growing up in America I have appreciated, and admired this wonderful western holiday because, it has so much more meaning than just having great food amongst family and friends. I have learned and understood that it s time to reflect and understand what we are thankful for, and the words thankfulness and giving back are words that are very powerful in transforming, and understanding ourselves as human beings. As a Muslim, my family always reminded us before any action we take we must be thankful, and appreciative of what God has given us, which is very much similar in comparison to the western holiday of thanksgiving and that is very enlightening in the sense that even though ... • 3. Essay On Miranda Rights Warning In many cases of arrest in the United States, there is the reading of one very important warning. This warning is known as the Miranda Rights. The other official title that this warning was given though is the Miranda Warning. The Miranda Rights though, tell every citizen who is at least the suspect of a crime, that they are not required to speak to any person of authority who is questioning them for any reason. That is, unless they feel the need to do so. These rights notify suspects and citizens also, that they have the right to an attorney, and that if they cannot afford one, that there still will be one that is provided for them. Our country s citizens all deserve to have their Miranda Rights read to them when being taken into custody by police. Honestly, our citizens not only deserve it, they need it. Having these rights read to them can save them from lots of legal issues later on in life. So, whether the police really think a person committed a crime or not should not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... today. This causes our country s percentage of citizens who know their rights to go down quite a bit. This is because of the simple fact that when people from another country enter ours, these immigrants do not always know everything about the country they re going into. Countries other than ours always have different laws and ideas of what is right and what is wrong, so what is against the law in America may be perfectly safe or legal in their country. The right to hire a lawyer or an attorney is very important also. Having this right can help citizens who do not work well with authorities, have someone there with them while being questioned about these matters. This lawyer being present at the time of interrogation, can remind their client of their rights, and help them to understand the laws they haven t heard of or just simply don t understand. • 4. Stop Motion Animation Stop motion animation requires the shooting of physically manipulated still objects to appear as moving objects. Some use dolls, props or clay (also known as called Claymation) to sequentially move an object in between individually shot frames. Depending on the preference of the director, stop motion animation may also require either traditional or computer animation to supplement the movie s other visual requirements such as the backgrounds, sets, and props. Examples of stop motion animation on TV are commonly children s shows such as Morph, Shaun the sheep, Bagpuss, The Clangers, Noddy and Wallace and Gromit s World of Invention. The advantage of stop motion animation is that you can be creative because there aren t many limitations on what you can do with an object like you do in real life. The disadvantage is that it s very time consuming and extremely laborious and you have to make sure the camera s still because one little slip up shows very clearly. Clay animation: It is similar to stop motion animation however using clay. It works by capturing each frame and then playing the recorded shots to see a live action. Clay animation films were created in the 1908 s, however it s in 1916 that it started to become popular overseas. Each clay character is produced by using a wire and clay, the wire is called an armature. The disadvantage of clay is that it s very fragile therefor when producing and shooting the characters and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Theme Of Alcohol In A Streetcar Named Want I was so smashed the previous evening that I undermined my better half, however I don t recall it, so does it check? Individuals intuitively attempt to put fault on anything besides themselves, and liquor presents itself as the ideal escape course for a feeling of remorse. Individuals regularly wind up settling on imprudent choices all the more as often as possible while affected by liquor. In any case, what amount of poor conduct would alcohol be able to pardon before a man must acknowledge the results for their own behavior? Tennessee Williams dives into the topic of liquor reliance all through his play, A Streetcar Named Want. All through the play, both Blanche and Stanley appear to depend vigorously upon alcohol. Liquor is utilized as both a brace and a reason for poor conduct in A Streetcar Named Want, and has turned out to be much more predominant in the present society. All through A Streetcar Named Want, Blanche Dubois, the hero, as often as possible uses liquor to get away from the insanity that she faces every day because of the loss of both her gay spouse and her fortune, ... withdrawing further into a universe of imagination and cunningly advanced stratagem ( A Streetcar Named Want Topic of Medications and Liquor ). After entering the Kowalski s family, Blanche presents herself with half of a tumbler of bourbon. This demonstration foretells her out and out reliance on the substance. • 7. Propaganda Techniques Today s Advertising By Anne Mcclintock In the essay, Propaganda Techniques in Today s Advertising by Anne McClintock, McClintock shows seven different ways that propaganda is used. One mostly used by advertisement today would be Glittering Generalities, using positive words to bring attraction to their product while concealing the actual meanings. They will use inspiring words that are very vague that the consumer would not really understand what the product would really do to benefit them but would be inspired to buy it anyways. Another technique mostly used would be Testimonial, were producers would pay celebrities to advertise their product for them since they have more fame than normal actors. Advertisement used today is targeted to make the consumer believe that what they are paying for is the real deal when it is only beneficial for the producers. Advertisements are used to promote a product by the positive effects enthusiastically but when describing the side effects they are done fast and in small letters. When one watches a commercial in the television, or hears it on the radio, one mostly hears the what the producers wants them to hear. They will explain their product, giving the pros of what it was made to do and how its a better option than other products in the market. When they are done with their sale at the very end most of commercials give you in small font the rest of the financial information, additional fees, or even side effects with a very fast voice most of the time reading it to you. ... • 8. Essay on Conduct Disorder in Adolescents Conduct Disorder in Adolescents Everyday we are hearing more and more about a child or teen that has committed some horrible act. On Tuesday April 27, 2004 a twelve year old Georgia boy was arrested for allegedly using his hands to strangle a third grader who disappeared while riding her bicycle (McLaughlin, 2004). In February, a twelve year old girl was beaten to unconsciousness by a group of adolescents and young adults while at a birthday party in Baltimore. The question we must ask ourselves is where are the parents? Sadly, in the case of the Baltimore girl, one of the young adults was the parent of one of the children. How do children learn that violent and socially deviant behavior is acceptable? Both of these scenarios ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The belief that the family structure and parenting practices have morally declined can be traced back to the early 1940 s in America. In an interview with C. Moran, LCSW C (personal communication, April 8, 2004), she described a time where families lived very close to, if not on the same street as their extended family. Aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents would all participate in the raising of the children, it takes a village to raise a child (C Moran, April 8, 2004). In some cases, the grandparents would teach the parents how to parent. As time moved on into the freeness of the 1960 s and 1970 s, parenting became more passive. Children at a young age were allowed to make decisions that ten years ago would have been made by their parents. The belief was to allow the child to make their own mistakes and they would receive the repercussions from society. As a result, more freedom of choice would be given to the child. Now, with the children of the sixties and seventies having offspring of their own, the millennial generation , and extended families spread out globally, active and involved parenting is becoming a thing of the past. Recent research has found that time spent by the parent in home with the child has steadily declined. Eberstadt states that the average American teenager now spends about three and a half hours alone every day; more over, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Comparing The Portrait Of Sally Fairchild By John Singer... For my term paper I decided to go to the Cantor Museum in Palo Alto, and I chose to focus on two portraits of women from two distinct time periods. First, I decided on the portrait of Margaret Blagge, Wife of Sidney, 1st Earl of Godolphin. This portrait was painted by the artist Matthew Dixon in 1675, in the Baroque period of art. The portrait of Margaret Blagge was done in England, and it was painted as an oil on canvas. The second artwork I chose to compare was the Portrait of Sally Fairchild by John Singer Sargent. This portrait was done from the year 1884 to 1887 during the Realism movement in art. The portrait of Sally Fairchild was painted in the United States of America, and was painted as an oil on canvas. When comparing these two portraits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Value is the relative darkness or lightness of a painting, and it assists in creating volume for a painting as well. In Matthew Dixon s painting, the Portrait of Margaret Blagge, the value falls under tenebrism. Chiaroscuro is the contrast between dark and light in a painting, and tenebrism is an extreme case of chiaroscuro, with a violent contrast between dark and light. Dixon was able to have Margaret Blagge stand out from the background by composing the whiteness of her skin directly next to the darkness of the background. By using tenebrism, Matthew Dixon was able to achieve a great deal of volume in his painting. Where the whiteness of Margaret Blagge s skin touches the darkness of the background it is as though she can be lifted out of her frame. John Singer Sargent s Portrait of Sally Fairchild, is different in comparison to Matthew Dixon s portrait, because there is not much chiaroscuro in it. The most evident contrast between dark and light is the transition from the shadows fallen on the left side of Sally Fairchild s body and her white skin. The contrast of shadow to the face helps create the volume of her chin against her neck. Both paintings are different, yet they both have a sense of volume, despite having used different ... However, many of these students often get thrown off task by tweets, snaps, and other distractions; these small temptations may not seem like much in the moment, but we realize the true effects of them after we earn a score much lower than anticipated. Even though we may realize the negative impacts of falling for distractions, we cannot resist the gravitational pull of our smartphone devices. • 11. Taylor Swift Figurative Language Almost everything in life can be viewed by different perspectives and almost everything is interpreted in a multitude of ways. This also applies to love and relationships. Love is so expansive and intricate that it takes a whole life time to try to explain and feel it. When trying to explain love some expressed love to be beautiful, miraculous and joyous. However, others portrayed the dark side of love; the hurt, the harsh reality, and broken hearts. Taylor Swift represented that same unhappiness that is associated with love in her music. In her song Forever and Always Taylor Swift exemplified her pain through the lyrics. He is still in love with her no matter what. The Arctic Monkeys song, Do I Wanna Know? uses figurative language terms such as metaphors, repetition, and personification to express the natural responses to fear of rejection and the desperation held onto when one wants still to hold onto a love that may or may not be there. Turner knew one thing for sure; that he was madly in love with this one girl and that he was willing to go after her by whatever means necessary. Yet again Turner still had some hesitation. This proved that point that there is always an uncertainty in love because no one is guaranteed that the person they love feels the same way. It is a natural instinct to want to feel accepted and it

Lawrence criticizes Hester Prynne, the protagonist of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, for deceiving the public about the nature of her sin of adultery. He perceives Hester Prynne as a mere seducer who disguises her sin with a pretense of purity. In his essay, Lawrence effectively demonstrates that Hester Prynne is not a character that deserves our sympathy through the use of choppy, repetitive syntax, relevant allusions to other literature, and a biting, sarcastic tone. One method that Lawrence uses to effectively criticize Hester Prynne s actions is the use of blunt, redundant syntax. Throughout his essay, he condenses his ideas into brief sentences that directly introduce the point. For instance, Lawrence succinctly summarizes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of his essay, Lawrence references The Deerslayer, a novel by James Fenimore Cooper, in which the Deerslayer [refuses] to be seduced by Judith Hutter (Lawrence). Therefore, Hester Prynne s act of adultery could have been avoided and thus should not be excused and forgiven. Furthermore, Lawrence mockingly refers to Hester as Mary of the Bleeding Heart and another Magdalen (Lawrence). In both instances, he alludes to biblical female figures who are perceived as repentant and innocent. However, Lawrence sarcastically incorporates this analogy, implying that Hester Prynne is the opposite of a pure woman. By comparing her to women who are known for their abstinence, Lawrence ironically emphasizes Hester s adultery, which negates her supposed purity. • 17. Contemporary Ethical Issues In Utilitarianism There are many contemporary ethical problems that societies face without having a solid response. Most of these problems come from the conflict caused by the different ways these problems can be interpreted. There are also many ethical theories that defend the different views to such problems. Among these theories we can mention Virtue Ethics, Utilitarianism, Kantianism, etc. I think there is one of these theories that is very interesting in nature: Utilitarianism. In this work I will be giving a brief explanation of Utilitarianism, as well as discussing the character of consequentialist or not consequentialist of this ethical theory. Also, I will analyze each of the contemporary issues studied in this unit based on Utilitarianism, as well as mentioning anecdotes that pertain to such conflicts. Like other forms of consequentialism, utilitarianism s core idea is that whether actions are morally right or wrong depends on their effects (). Utilitarianism is a moral principle that holds that the morally right course of action in any situation is the one that produces the greatest balance of benefits over harms for everyone affected (). The only problem I see with this ethical theory is that an action that could be generally considered unethical can be the one that produces the most value for the greatest amount of people; therefore, that unethical action will be an ethical action under the utilitarian view. A concrete example of the idea just mentioned can be easily found with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The id is what controls our personal desires, the superego controls our ideas about where we fit in society and the ego is in between these two elements balancing their effects to help us make rational decisions. Despite the fact that these theories were developed well after Flaubert wrote Madame Bovary or Tolstoy wrote The Death of Ivan Ilych the main characters of each (Emma and Ivan) both represent people who have become dominated by one aspect of their subconscious. After a loud cart rumbles by, disrupting her train of thought, the next thing she thinks is everything, including herself, seemed unbearable to her. She wished she could fly away like a bird and make herself young again somewhere in the vast purity of space (252). Here, Flaubert juxtaposes the image of Emma s pre school aged child sleeping with her desire to restart her life and try again. These contrasting images powerfully show Emma s indifference towards her child, and reveal her complete selfishness. While her feelings towards her daughter show how Emma is controlled by her id, she also displays a lack of superego function, as she commonly is unconcerned with the rules of society. At the peak of her relationships with both Rodolphe and Leon, Emma defiantly chooses to not to care if she is seen in public with her lovers. This lack of discretion finally works against her when one day in Rouen, Monsieur Lheureux met her as she was leaving the Hôtel de Boulogne on Leon s arm. The chief punishment of all the inhabitants of the Inferno is no hope. They have no have no hope of salvation, no hope of release, no hope of any improvement, or escape from their punishments. Each inhabitant is punished in a fashion befitting their crime. For centuries, the meaning of justice is a controversial question. The punishments in Dante s Hell are justified in proportion to their sin. The Ante Inferno is like a hall before entering a church of government building. The Ante Inferno is essentially a vestibule into Hell. The people here are the ones who are rejected by God and not accepted by the powers of Hell . The souls are nowhere because of their cowardly refusal to make a choice in life . Their punishment is to follow a banner at a furious pace forever, and to be tormented by flies and hornets (Canto III Intro pg. 1607). These people chose themselves. They chase a blank banner which is nothing. They chose their fate to choose nothing. The punishment is justified because they are nothing so they chase nothing. • 21. Education Is An Important Part Of Life Education is an important part of life even for people who are already educated, but education never ends. As a matter of fact, intelligence is constantly increasing, so educated people should not waste such educations with unnecessary leisure activities like watching television when a person can continually improve his or her education. In today s culture, an educated person should spend more time reading than watching television because reading builds the reader s vocabulary and reinforces the prior knowledge of particular terminology, but watching television requires no active thinking. Challenging the mind is one of the greatest ways to improve it, so reading at higher levels, regardless of age or education status, will build the vocabulary of a reader, thus making the reader a more knowledgeable person. When a reader stumbles across an unfamiliar word in a sentence, he or she may use context clues to figure out the meaning of the word, or this person could simply look up the word in a dictionary or similar source. Seeing unfamiliar words challenges a reader s mind because each word is introduced multiple times in order to define it: once when reading the sentence the first time, twice after reading it the second time, three times in order to look up the word, and four times when the reader uses the word s definition in place of the term in the sentence. These re introductions build a reader s vocabulary which is important because having a stronger vocabulary allows a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First off we have the ancient Mesopotamian narrative Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is told a story by, an immortal man, that long ago the gods had decided to destroy the whole world by sending a flood. Sumerians were the first to write the flood account in cuneiform then the Akkadian s carried it on, there were two types of dialects Babylonian and Assyrian and they each had their own version of the flood story. This shows that they were recounting the stories that they have been told, writing it in their own style. Scholars of the Christian faith believe that the recounting of the Noah s flood was told orally and passed down until Moses eventually wrote it to be apart of the bible. • 31. Emergency Medical Technician Program Essay Regarding the Emergency Medical Technician program, we announced changes at EMC. The change included the need for an additional day of training (from three to four days) peer EMT refresher. This change affects the plan in place that stated a member would be able to perform a UTA reschedule on a Sunday following the refresher provided it was the same quarter. The effort was made to minimize the staffing effect on Saturday clinic. However, even with the success of the past couple of cycles, this change is out of our hands. The issue was addressed during the past UTA training meeting. On the table included... 1. Looking into making the two days or all four as AT 2. Reschedule a Sunday on the front and on the back end of the Apr or Aug dates 3. Reschedule a two day UTA and support the clinic with CCATT and ancillary agents After discussing the options, to ensure legality, with TSgt Edwards. I would like to make my recommendation and provide reasoning. Each 4N0XX member is required to maintain one EMT refresher per two year cycle. EMT refresher does not count towards CEUs the first time taken, but a member may sit in a session after and earn CEU credit. That means a near even split of 30 40 members needing the refresher per year. Further thinning those numbers across two sessions mean approximately 15 members each. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This year the cycle is tied to the Mar super UTA and the May MEDBEACH UTA. In order to achieve training and fit the guidelines of AFI 36 2254 we would have members attending refresher in Apr to reschedule Jun UTA and Aug reschedule Sep. This enables the member to attend all training available as well as stay within the quarter window. One added consideration pointed out by TSgt Edwards is any member with a prior excusal 40A may be converted to EQT status for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Similarities Between Rip Van Winkle And Young Goodman Brown Nature: An Escape from Reality Throughout the story of Rip Van Winkle written by Washington Irving and the tale of Young Goodman Brown authored by Nathaniel Hawthorne, nature acts as a refuge for both of the main characters in the stories. In the story of Rip Van Winkle, Rip ventures into the woods to escape his nagging wife at home, using the setting of nature as a refuge from his life at home to escape his miserable home life. Rip s wife nags so much that he uses the Kaatskill mountains as a refuge from her henpecking ways, ...his wife kept continually dinning in his ears about his idleness, his carelessness, and the ruin he was bringing on his family. Morning, noon, and night, her tongue was incessantly going. (956). In contrast, in the story of Young Goodman Brown, Goodman Brown leaves his wife, Faith, for three months to complete a suspicious errand in the woods. In contrast to Rip, Goodman Brown uses nature as a refuge from his faith in God, not his nagging wife at home, in fact he loves his wife dearly. Despite the fact that nature is an apparent topic throughout both stories, it is my claim that Washington Irving does a better job of presenting the use of the theme of nature being a refuge due to his use of symbolism, setting, and characters to illustrate the theme that nature acts as a a refuge. • 33. Thurgood Marshall (NAACP) When I joined the NAACP, I never could have imagined Thurgood Marshall, the head Special Counsel ( Thurgood Marshall ), would bring me into the biggest case of my career. In my times at Northeastern University Law School, I had written countless papers on the Supreme Court decisions preceding Brown v. Board of Education; and now I would be collaborating with the greatest attorneys the NAACP had to offer. Representing over 200 plaintiffs from Kansas, Delaware, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. (Conaway, Judith 15), the enormity of the case hung over my head as the train inched closer and closer to the city and the NAACP s New York office. I flipped over my copy of the New York Times, reading the column about the case once more, Certainly no lawyer, and practically no member of the bench, had Thurgood Marshall s grasp of the doctrine of law as it affects civil rights ( Thurgood Marshall ). I disembarked the whites only car and began my walk towards the NAACP National Office. As I sat in the waiting room of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Placed before the most powerful attorneys the Legal Defense Fund had to offer were two dolls, one black and one white. Kenneth Clark, the psychologist used in the lower courts for Boiling v. When asked to identify the bad doll, two thirds (Good, Diane L. 28) of the black participants pointed at the doll matching their skin tone. Yet when asked which doll they relate to the most, the children pointed to the same bad doll, emphasizing the effects on children s self esteem. • 34. IHSDA Dance Hard Work Pays Off Our coaches had told us since the beginning that the months and months we would spend preparing for one particular day would all be worth it in the end. Taking place at New Castle Fieldhouse in early March 2015, I competed in the IHSDTA Dance team competition with my fellow teammates and members of the NHS dance team. We walked into the vast, expansive Fieldhouse knowing that it was the largest High School Fieldhouse in the Nation. The anticipation in the air was electric and full of excited chatter of girls who had been preparing for months for this one day... actually for these two minutes. We were a pom and hip hop team. Because this was Noblesville s first year competing, opposing teams arrived with low expectations for us, and they also showed a polite disregard for our team. I was to dance that day, but only once. I understood the privilege, for I was a freshman on a varsity team. And though I was used to performing, I was not prepared for the criticizing looks, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the court, the music started, and they danced perfectly. They look so good! How come they don t practice like that? I wondered. They performed, were given a loud applause, then ran off the court. Ten minutes later, we were already getting ready for the next dance, the one I was to perform. I m going to play the music once, and you re going to close your eyes and think about the dance. Ready? Gatsby American Dream 1920s In the book, The Great Gatsby, it shows what happened to the American Dream in the 1920 s, which is a day and age when the dreams got the opportunity to be particularly polluted for a few reasons. The American dream is both a blessing and a curse in light of the way that unfortunately for Myrtle, Gatsby and Daisy it has brought on pleasure and destruction. The American Dream is defined by, the set of ideals (democracy, rights, liberty, opportunity, and equality) in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success , and the people in the 1920 s are obsessed with having more and not appreciating what they already have. Hlu Persuasive Essay Hulu has been one of the best competing online television viewing services, along with Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and Google Videos, and has been my favorite choice to view all kinds of TV Shows. An interesting and captivating show is the Chef Race: UK. Vs. US. the Season 1. It comprises of several Episodes playing on Hulu. The fierceness, endurance and ultimate test of culinary and entrepreneurial skills cannot be overemphasize as fourteen home cooks representing US. and Uk., seven from each country, compete for an opportunity of only one person to win the ultimate prize of $100,000. The contestants, home cooks, are given tasks and expected to execute them in a timely and efficient manner. The Episode s tasks require the contestants, separated into two groups, UK. Vs. • 37. Notes On The Price Of Wheat Futures Strategy 1: Concerns regarding fluctuations in the price of a certain commodity in the coming future can secured through the use of different derivative products. In the given case, prime concern of the management of Karl s bakery is to protect itself against the future variations in the price of the wheat, as it can impact their business in a significant way. The suitable option for the bakery is to take long position in December wheat futures contracts as the management procures bulk of the wheat in December. It will provide Karl s management hedge against unanticipated rise in the price of wheat. The bakery needs to purchase almost 25,000 bushels of wheat. Therefore, 5 contracts have been purchased (each contract is based on 5,000 bushels of wheat). Price of each contract is $5.08, and total cost of this strategy stands at $127,000. This position in closed on 27th October. The price of wheat futures has risen from $5.08 to $ 5.11 during the period. This price rise translated into positive gains for the bakery as it indicated rise in the price of the underlying commodity. The management has remained successful in hedging its price risk by taking long position in wheat futures. Strategy 2: Primary apprehension of a corn seller is decline in the price commodity which will impact his revenues negatively. Short position in corn futures will lock in the future price of the corn and will guarantee the locked price of the commodity, irrespective of the actual market price of the ...
