House Of Traps Essay
Chang Cheh s House of Traps is definite kung fu cult film
The Venom Mob was a group of actors that first appeared on Chang Chen s internationally appraised
The Five Venom and continued on shooting more than a dozen films. House of Traps is considered the
last of them and one of the most sought after, of all the Shaw Brothers productions.
Hua Chong, a famous fighter known with the nickname Butterfly manages to steal a valuable jade
statue. He delivers it to the Prince of Xiangyang, who immediately appreciates his abilities in martial
arts and hires him. Furthermore, he places the statue in the House of Traps, a self explanatory building
where his most valuable assets are being stored. The Prince is soon revealed as the head of a group of
people that want to revolt against the emperor. As a new Inspector, Yan Chunmin is being assigned to
the area, the conspirators feel that his presence may be an obstacle to their plans and decide to kill him
before he reaches Xiangyang.
However, as Yan Chunmin is travelling with his effeminate servant Yumo, he comes across a stranger
named, Bai Yutang, who proves to be another famous fighter, nicknamed Brocade Coated Rat , one of
the famous five Rat Brothers. The two of them become friends, and even blood ... Show more content

Venom Mob members Philip Kwok, Lu Feng, Chiang Sheng and Chu Ko have done a wonderful job

group fights. Chang Cheh induced the battles with his regular gore, making them even more cult. The

The Social Perception Of A Hollywood Movie Star Gone Dark
I want to live fast and die young. Many celebrities live by these words and follow them as an
unspoken desire for personal satisfaction and gratification. While many have risen to fame and glory,
only to lose their spurious fortunes amongst the squalor of human indecency, one man will always
drunkenly pratfall into the social perception of a Hollywood movie star gone dark; Chris Farley.
Christopher Crosby Farley, definitely did not have a normal life, but it was not necessarily a bad one.
He had a catholic upbringing with an upper middle class family from Wisconsin, a decent education,
an active, if not healthy social life, a job which generated millions of dollars for him by doing what he
loves, and every time he walked into a room the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His father owned an oil company, and his mother stayed at home to take care of the home and
children. When Farley was in school he never really felt like he fit in, he was the the awkward fat kid
in class who would do anything to get a laugh out of someone. He assumed that people were going to
laugh at him anyways so he might as well make it big and make it funny. In one instance, he got up as
a teacher was finishing a lecture and mooned the entire class, exposing his rear and causing him to
almost get kicked out of school, but the authorities thought the incident so innocently funny that he
was let off the hook. He loved to play sports in and out of school, while he may not have been any
good, he still showed ferocious devotion and an exaggerated intensity when in the game. He was
always huge for his age, but he was surprisingly athletic in comparison, this showed off and on the
stage when he performed his own stunts, or clumsily fell onto a table, as he regularly did on movies
and television. He grew into his teen years a sweet charitable fool who partied harder than he made
people laugh, which was in no way insignificant. He studied theater and communications at Marquette
University, and graduated in 1986. After he graduated he went on to Second City Theatre in Chicago,
the place where one of his biggest Idols, John Belushi, got his start. In that theater, the legend known
as chris farley took his first step into stardom, and immediately

Gender Stereotypes In The Piano By Jane Campion
The Piano focuses on the love triangle of Ada, her husband Stewart and her lover Baines. Ada, at the
middle of two dominating male characters, is seemly quiet but her bold and manipulative moves show
a more calculating side to her character. Jane Campion s characterisation of multidimensional
characters that often bend the gender stereotypes but also play directly into them.
When Baines meets Ada, his attraction to her is instant. The audience witnesses a conversation
between Baines and Stewart whereby Baines offers to buy Ada s piano if she will give him lessons. It
is clear that Baines intentions in this request are not honest and that he is interest in making a sexual
advance towards the newly married Ada. This level of calculating manipulation is typically a male
characteristic, and his blatant attempt at receive sex from her shows a male stereotype whereby all
men are driven by their want for sex.
During the first love scene between Ada and Stewart, Ada attempts to get Stewart into an exposed and
compromised position whereby she has power and control over the situation. Stewart ultimately
becomes uncomfortable very quickly, playing into the masculine stereotype that men do not like to be
dominated. However contrastingly, Stewart has a caring side whereby he becomes a fatherly figure to
Ada s daughter.
The next love scene between Ada and Stewart is more violent and shows the gender stereotypes or
expectations coming to the surface. Stewart becomes enraged when

The Importance Of Learning A New Language
Importance of Learning a New Language
All over the world there is around 6,500 languages. Even so in America approximately 20% of
Americans speak another language other than English. This number is relatively low. Learning a new
language is and can be very beneficial. By learning a new language you can meet more people, have
more job opportunities, and introduce yourself to new cultures. Therefore, every person should make
it a life goal to learn another language excluding their native language.
First of all, Learning a new language gives you many more career and college choices. Considering
the fact that not a lot of Americans speak any other languages then Spanish it is rare and a rare skill to
have. Speaking another language looks great on job and college applications. Taking a language SAT
during high school makes your college application stand out, which will increase your chances of
getting into a good college.Alao for college admissions there is a number of scholarships for bilingual
students. This is a great reason to learn a new language because college can get very expensive but is a
thing that is almost necessary. Also the amount of jobs that can use bilingual employees is getting
higher and higher. For example when children move from foreign countries, they are placed in schools
where they can t speak the language, therefore they aren t able to understand teachers or other students
to make new friends. So, to help out the kids they get a special

Creative Concepts Of Creative Products
Creative products are goods or services produced and sold by creative industries. Creative industries
are defined as having their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent. They typically develop
products offered in the entertainment sector such as music, theatre, opera, film, art, broadcasting, etc.
Universally seen as a unique type of product, they produce symbolic goods in the form of experiences,
ideas or images. Because their products take the form of an experience or service, they are classified
as intangible. Intangible goods are products that have no physical nature meaning a person cannot
hold, touch, smell or otherwise handle it. Creative products are also seen as ephemeral, meaning they
only last for a certain period of time. Their value derives from the artistic and human talents
incorporated in it at the different stages of creation, production, reproduction and distribution. (CITE)
In many ways, these creative products are often seen as more difficult to analyse, manage or sell
compared to other commodity goods or services.
Figuring out why these products are often seen as more difficult means understanding how these
particular products are managed compared to their counterpart. Most notably, there is not just one
product being produced and sold. When it comes to creative goods, the whole product is composed of
several different types. From the seller s point, there is the formal product which is the actual artistic
performance itself that is being

Analysis of Tolkien s The Hobbit
J.R.R. Tolkien starts his world renowned book The Hobbit with, In a hole in the ground there lived a
hobbit (1). This book is a tale of a small hobbit named Bilbo and his ever memorable journey through
the evil world during his time. Living in the Shire, as his homeland is called, it is very calm and
pleasant for Bilbo, but once the outer limits of the land are reached Bilbo is in for a great surprise.
Needing a burglar on his journey Gandalf the Grey, who is famous for his magic with fire and light,
came to ask for Bilbo s assistance. Gandalf was accompanied with thirteen dwarves who were after
their long ago taken, but never forgotten treasure. The last evil dragon, Smaug, who overtook the

Bilbo listened intently as the dwarves sang songs and told poems of their long ago taken land. Singing
of golden hoards and long forgotten gold Bilbo began to become very enthusiastic about the soon to
come journey (22). As the dwarves went on, the hobbit felt that this journey would be good for him.
He accepted the task, but not before the Dwarves, along with Gandalf, enchanted the young hobbit
with the treasure to be found. Being fairly wealthy Bilbo had no need for this wealth, but before long
the hobbit could feel the love of beautiful things made by hands and by cunning and by magic moving
through him, and a fierce and jealous love, the desire of the hearts of dwarves (24). Apparently Bilbo
is beginning to change from a commoner to a treasure seeker, not quite beginning to become a hero,
but change is still change. Soon Bilbo s transition into a hero will begin, with a rude awakening.
So before Bilbo new what was happening and even before dawn the next morning the troop of fifteen
set out. Through the Shire no adventure or trouble was found, but that soon changed. Within a few
leagues of the Shire s border young Bilbo encountered his first adventure. Walking slowly through the
dark, Gandalf quickly stopped and hushed the others. Up above the road a small fire could be seen and
cold, low voices could be heard singing of roasted mutton. Bilbo was sent to see what was up above
since he could sneak almost silently. Much to his amazement he saw three very large

The Wife s Lament Analysis
What is exile? Exile is the action of one being kicked out of their home or native land, usually as a
punishment. According to Anglo Saxons, all exile is a model of the banishment of humankind from its
rightful place in Heaven. Exile is a pretty frequent theme of Anglo Saxon literature by symbolizing
this in many different scenarios and using different characters and places. Since the religion of
christianity was so important to the Anglo Saxons, this was a scary thing for many of them to find in
their literature. After one examines the lyrics in The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and The Wife s Lament,
one will notice that exile is included in all three of these Anglo Saxon stories.
In each of these stories, the theme of exile is prominently emphasized through at least one detail. For
example, in the stories The Seafarer and The Wanderer, the theme of exile is demonstrated and
emphasized through the use of water. The narrators in these stories are on sea voyages and water is
used to represent their separation, or exile, from their original home. In the story The Wife s Lament,
the theme of exile is demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The husband mysteriously left the wife one day without returning which caused the narrator s pitiful
isolation. Eventually during her suffering, she decides that she needs to go out to try to find her
husband, but the husband s kinsmen decided to keep the wife shut out from him. Moreover, the
narrator is left to continue suffering from her exile. My man s kinsmen began to plot by darkened
thought to divide us two so we most widely in the world s kingdom lived wretchedly and I suffered
longing (lns. 11 14). Since exile is supposed to represent the separation of people from christianity
according to Anglo Saxons, this story could have evoked sadness and fear onto Anglo Saxons by being
a sorrowful way to symbolize this

The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum by Heinrich Boll Essays
The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum by Heinrich Boll
Authors often use characters within their novels to show the consequences of challenging cultural
boundaries and, in turn, display their own personal concerns. It is not uncommon for characters to
reflect an author s ideology regarding social groups in their contemporary time periods. It is clear that
this is certainly the case with the 1975 novel The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum, (also referred to as
How Violence Develops and Where it Can Lead), written by the German Author, Heinrich Boll. The
Lost Honour is, on the surface, an attack on yellow journalism and the damage it causes to the lives of
the people reported on. However, with a more in depth analysis of the novel we are able to ... Show

Bolls sympathy and admiration for economically lower class citizens, most likely due to the economic
hardship faced by his father, is presented through the hardworking nature of Blum. However, he also
shows the suspicion cast upon Blum because of her comfortable living standards as a result of her
independent ways. This suggests that he is concerned with people s inability to except rises in class
without assuming something sinister or unlawful has occurred in the process. Through the use of his
characters in The Lost Honour and Bolls personal life experiences we are able to see his concerns
regarding the cultural boundaries within Germany.
Boll has demonstrated a sympathetic leaning towards females through the lack of power and rights
given to his title character Katharina Blum in correlation with his own political views. It is clear that
within The Lost Honour it is Blum who we are supposed to sympathise with. This is clear through the
satirical tone used by the less then objective limited third person narrator. One of the things implied
about women, specifically Blum, repeatedly throughout the novel is the fact that they were created to
satisfy men s sexual needs and little else. An example of this is during the questioning of Blum about
her relationship with Gotten as Beizmenne allegedly asked Blum Well, did he fuck you? Blum

In Zimbabwe We Don T Cry For Lion Analysis
In Zimbabwe, We Don t Cry for Lions Doctoral student in molecular and cellular biosciences at Wake
Forest University, Goodwell Nzou, in his opinion piece, In Zimbabwe, We Don t Cry for Lions,
effectively claims that Americans are not making a feasible claim when they are over expressing their
feeling about Cecil s death, when in fact lions are harmful and kill villagers. He supports this claim
asserting American are over exaggerating Cecil s death and are acting like this has never happened
before. Nzou uses rhetorical questions and sarcasm to appeal to pathos when stating, Did all those
Americans signing petitions understand that lions actually kill people? That all the talk about Cecil
being beloved or a local favorite was media hype? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author uses pathos to get people to feel sympathy for the family in the village who lost their son
when he got mauled by a lion. This quote greatly supports the author s purpose for writing this article.
Finally he supports this claim asserting people are too ignorant to make a feasible claim about the
situation. He uses diction and parallel structure to appeal to pathos when stating, Don t tell us what to
do with our animals when you allow your own mountain lions to be hunted to near extinction in the
eastern United States. Don t bemoan the clear cutting of our forest when you turn yours into concrete
jungles. The author uses parallel structure when repeating, Don t to emphasise his overall point. He
also uses diction to assert his claim when he uses the words, extinction, bemoan, and concrete jungles
. He specifically used these words to get us to feel the injustice about how the Americans are acting
about Cecil s death. Overall, Nzou combines his condemnatory and critical tone with these appeals to
effectively point out to the people who are crying about Cecil s death that lions are harmful to people
and killing lions happens all the time in the area. This article would be informative to the public who
are outraged about Cecil s death and

Taking a Look at Body Art
Research Assignment (Body Art) Body painting is a certain form of art that continued with humans
through the ancient times to the modern day times, where artists use the human body as canvasses to
show beauty like no other style of artwork can. African, European, Asia, and Australian tribes have
shown records that body painting was used. The tribes were using pigments from plant leaves and
fruits to decorate themselves because body art was an important part of their lives. Body art would
represent qualities of the people, goals for life, gods, and many war themes. The first full body
painting arose in 1933 of a naked model in Chicago. Body painting spread out during the 1960 s when
hippies began the movement in the United States. It is important to clarify that body painting is not
just applied to nude bodies, but also can be applied to pieces of skin. Alexa Meade is a very skilful
artist and has a certain style and view of body painting herself. Alexa was born and raised in 1986 in
Washington, D.C. In 2009, Meade graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY majoring in
political science. Meade received her bachelor s degree, but never attended art school. Meade was
forced to teach herself how to paint, which started at the age of 15. When interviewed, Meade stated, I
didn t have to think of painting as this thing on canvas, because I didn t have any practice doing that. I
just saw paint as something that can be used in space. When just beginning, Meade s studio

The Between Dance And The Self
Within Fish Tank, performance serves a multitude of functions. For one, characters in the film define
themselves in relation to dance, and performance as a whole is presented as an outlet and a means to
attain freedom. Yet, the relationship between dance and the self is also antithetical as, whilst individual
characters escape social definition through the act of dance, the act itself defines them. This can be
seen especially in relation to the female identity that is imposed with sexual objectivity through dance.
However, dance also operates in a figurative sense, Mia, dances with the idea of reinvention, escape
and of learning the steps to life. Overall, dance is presented as being highly important to the
exploration and attainment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Mia s lack of talent for dancing establishes a sense of futility regarding her escape.
Nonetheless, Mia s desire to dance reflects her broad desire to express herself creatively.
Mia s desire to escape social constraint is further revealed through her attempt to connect to the Black
American culture. Mia s dance moves and music choices create an interesting dynamic to her self
expression, for example, Mia s burgeoning connection to Connor is revealed through her choice to
dance to his favourite song. Further, as Mia dances in front of the television in her kitchen, she does so
to an African American pop song, featuring street dance (0.13.19). Mia s copying of the dance moves
is emblematic of her attempt to re construct and re define her identity.
The..cultural..messages..that..she..receives from the television, dance and music therefore, are
presented as being key in Mia s process of self discovery. Connor s comment You dance like a black is
intended as a compliment, yet reveals further Mia s attempt to construct her identity out of cultural
fragments. Broadly, through dance, and performing aspects of African American street culture, Mia s
powerful desire to escape societal constraint is made apparent. Mia s attempt to connect with a world
different to her own, is emblematic of Mia s attempt to seek freedom.
Whilst allowing Mia to escape, dance allows Mia to reconcile the conflict within her life, particularly
in her family

Unit 11 Bridge Building Project
Bridge Building Project
By Maryum Sheikh Hi, my name is Maryum and the bridges that I researched about are the Golden
Gate Bridge, the Batman Bridge, the Auckland Harbor Bridge, the Bixby Creek Bridge, and the
Quebec Bridge.
First, I would like to tell you about the Golden Gate Bridge. I m pretty sure many of you may know
about this bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge and was built in San Francisco,
California in 1937. The Golden Gate Bridge spans or crosses the Golden Gate strait which is a mile
wide and 3 miles long. The weight of the roadway is hung from 2 cables that pass through two main
towers and are fixed in concrete at each end. Each cable is made of 27,572 strands of wire. There are
80,000 miles of wire in the main cables. These cables help support the bridge because of the big
distance. The bridge also has approximately 1,200,000 total rivets. So my opinion about the bridge is
that it is a very well made bridge and it also has a very good design.
The second bridge I will be talking about is the Batman Bridge. The Batman Bridge is a cable stay

in 1917 after the 2 attempts. The Quebec Bridge is 987 m long, 29 m wide, and 104 m high. The
cantilever arms are 177 m long and support a 195 m central structure, for a total span of 549 m the
Quebec Bridge is still the longest cantilever bridge span in the world. It was the all categories longest
span in the world until the Ambassador Bridge was completed in 1929. It is the easternmost complete
crossing of the Saint Lawrence River. My opinion about the Quebec Bridge is that it is very well made

Cultural Wars In America
Prevalence of cultural wars has been in societies having individuals who have different beliefs,
cultural settings and more specifically a way of life. American society at the moment has experienced
a lot of cultural wars, as seen in recent disputes over certain issues such as marriage of the same sex
and abortion. To have a good explanation to the aliens, it is necessary to understand historical aspect
and give an assessment of how the differences came about together with their effect on the perception
of significant national issues. For United Kingdom and United States, it has been traced that cultural
wars is due to different views of traditionalists and liberalists. Basically the two groups have been

Some of the key denominations offered support to the movements in terms of finances and intellectual

fighting for freedom in the era of Civil Rights Movement. During the time, there was freedom of

association between having freedom to religion and attaining liberty in general. Christianity and the
church was a significant symbol for those fighting for freedom. The church acted as a central point

Leaders in church were in the front line in advocating for freedom to civil rights probably because of
their religious beliefs. The movement was motivated through the Christians beliefs that they were

will become clear in the interview video. It was then time for Jorge s attorneys to go before the jury,
and he stood when the prosecutor took her seat. To begin to believe the defense given by Jorge s
attorney was powerful or persuasive is giving it too much credit. In my opinion the structure and
delivery of all of his points that I will describe only further supported the opposing sides arguments.
He began his statements by saying everything was misconstrued and was simply a misunderstanding

The process of the various statements given and the ability to convey such a strong message to the

outweighed by Jorge s attorney in any way. This was aided by the fact that he was not able to support
his arguments and all odds were against him. The courts system of relaying evidence to the jury and
giving the people a right to choose what they honestly believe to be the truth of the situation is what
todays judicial system is based upon. This was enlightening to me to see happen and I am content with
what I have witnessed. Following this case, I was able to find two more that were similar in nature.

Statin Research Paper
Statins (also known as 3 hydroxy 3 methylgutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors) are widely
prescribed cholesterol lowering drugs for the treatment of dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease.
Although they are considered to be drugs with a very good safety profile, there are many concerns that
their adverse effects might compromise their proven beneficial effects due to their extensive usage.
Even though more aggressive lipid lowering with potent statins in high doses can reduce rates of non
fatal events and need for interventions, the incremental mortality benefits are still vague, and their use
is associated with a higher rate of drug related adverse effects.

Several widely used statins (such as lovastatin, atorvastatin and simvastatin) are metabolized by the
cytochrome P450 (CYP)3A4 pathway.
Co administration of statins with cyclosporine, erythromycin, niacin or fibrates carries an increased
risk for myopathy. Cyclosporin and erythromycin interact with statins via the CYP3A4 pathway and
by interfering with OAT1B1 a membrane transporter that helps regulate drug influx to the liver.
Certain drugs, such as calcium channel blockers, are considered weaker CYP3A4 inhibitors and
appear to increase statin rhabdomyolysis risk to a lower degree. Furthermore, grapefruit juice and
pomegranate juice inhibit CYP3A4 and have been presumptively linked to statin rhabdomyolysis.
In conclusion, statins are the mainstay of lipid lowering therapy, with multiple studies confirming that

passed down from generation to generation and change along the way. Fairy tales as Cinderella have
many different variants depending on the origin of where the story was created. A Cinderella story in
the United States differs from a Cinderella story from Russia. Cinderella is nothing of a mere template
of a specific folk tale. Cinderella is a story of a daughter who is looked down upon by her evil
stepmother and her stepsisters. Her stepmother does not allow her to go to a ball announced by a
prince, but Cinderella eventually finds a way of going and she marries the prince. Charles Perrault and
The Brothers Grimm are both famous for their variations of this story. Perrault is famous for adding
many elements to the story such as the fairy godmother and the glass slipper. Grimm is famous for his
gruesome version of Cinderella that ended in the eyes of the sisters getting pecked out by birds.
Despite both stories being similar, Perrault and Grimm show many aspects of the story that are
sparingly different.
Both stories consisted of an evil stepmother, but there is a father in both stories who play a different
role. In Perrault s version of the story, he says The poor girl bore all patiently, and dared not complain
to her father, who would have scolded her if she had done so, for his wife governed him entirely
(Perrault, 236). The father is fully controlled by the

Cross-Culture Communication In Things Fall Apart By Chinua...
When reading two different books, it is quite possible to apply an idea from one to the other. If a
character in a book acted differently in situations, it would change the outcome of the whole book.
Cosmopolitanism s idea of cross culture communication is split into different parts with the ideas that
one should respect others even when they are strangers, one must not hold others to such high
expectations, and one may be connected to different people who come from different cultures through
the same idea. The character Mr. Smith, in Things Fall Apart, replaces Mr. Brown as the Christian
missionary in Umuofia, who runs the church. He is a strict white man who is not understanding to
Umuofia s culture. When one applies Kwame Anthony Appiah s idea of cross culture communication
in Cosmopolitanism to the character, Mr. Smith, in Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, this character
changes by accepting other beliefs, including everyone no matter their status, and continuing as Mr.
Brown would have. The first idea of cross cultural communication is that one must not hold others to
such high expectations, which relates to Mr. Smith in the sense that when he enters Umuofia he
believed that all of the Christian followers should know and believe in all aspects of Christianity. This
is not following the cosmopolitanism idea because he holds the newfound Christians to such high
expectations, in the sense that he thinks they should know everything about the religion. Mr. Smith
believes

Abstract
Background: Despite the increasing use of very low carbohydrate ketogenic diets (VLCKD) in weight
control and management of the metabolic syndrome there is a paucity of research about effects of
VLCKD on sport performance. Ketogenic diets may be useful in sports that include weight class
divisions and the aim of our study was to investigate the influence of VLCKD on ... Show more

Recently Kreider and colleagues studied the effect of a specific exercise program in overweight
woman with a VLCKD or normal carbohydrate content diet [17], but only few papers that focus
specifically on the influence of VLCKD on sports performance have been published, and with
conflicting results: showing benefits [18,19], no effect [20,21] or impairment [22,23].
The present study set out to investigate if a VLCKD could be useful for athletes, especially for those
engaged in sports involving weight categories where weight loss without negative changes in the body
composition (i.e. loss of muscle mass) and performance is often needed.
To the best of our knowledge no previous study has

investigated the influence of a VLCKD on strength performance and on explosive strength
performance in competitive athletes.
Methods
Subjects
Nine high level male athletes (age 21 ± 5.5), elite artistic gymnasts, were recruited for this study.
Subjects competed in the Italian premier league for the CorpoLibero
Gymnastics Team ASD, Padova, Italy and include two athletes belonging to the Italian national team.
The mean volume of weekly training was about 30 hours. During the
VLCKD period (30 days) the athletes were asked to keep to their normal training schedule. During a
preliminary meeting it was explained that during the first three weeks it was necessary to almost
totally exclude carbohydrates and a detailed menu containing

Racism In Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon
Title Analysis The title of Toni Morrison s acclaimed novel Song of Solomon has a few meanings that
can go along with it. The first is an allusion to the biblical book Song of Songs or commonly know as
Song of Solomon which is all about sexual themes and desires and that. The next meaning is a
reference to the protagonist s great grandfather whose name was Solomon and had a song about him in
which Solomon could fly and left his son Jake on the ground and inevitably to a white man s house.
Major Themes Racism: Racism plays a very pivotal role in this work as it shapes a character
thoroughly and even an entire group. Racism is seen to affect Guitar and the Seven Days the most as
Guitar has always hated the white man since he blamed them for the death of his father but becomes
more twisted as the novel progresses as he joins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the very first chapter we see Mr. Robert Smith take flight from the roof of the Mercy Hospital
where he was trying to escape his life and we even hear a song from Pilate where she says O
Sugarman done fly away . As the first part of the novel progresses we see Milkman at an internal
struggle as he wants to fly away and escape from his father and his hometown in general. When
Milkman takes an literal flight as to search for information about his past he comes to appreciate his
ancestors and family as a whole and even learns about his great grandfather who was known as a
flying African and was the premise to the song that Pilate sang but was actually sung Solomon done
fly, Solomon done gone . Death also plays with the theme of flight as when Pilate is killed a bird
swoops down on the grave she made for her father and picks up her earring which symbolizes her
flying away. Even with Milkman s final confrontation with Guitar he takes his knowledge of his
journey and thinks to himself If you surrendered to the air, you could ride

The Wizarding Gene
The wizarding gene is not passed down in blood like how it is explained in the books. It is a gene,
copied in families that carry the recessive code. A gene is informally defined as a unit of heredity that
is transferred from a parent to offspring and determines some characteristics of the offspring (CITE).
An Allele is one of two or more alternative forms of a gene that arise by mutation and are found at the
same place on a chromosome. To be a wizard, a person must be born Homozygous Recessive,
meaning their DNA must have two copies of the same gne, but not a dominant alelle. If the gene for
magic was an M , their code would appear as mm. A real life example of this would be eye color. A
blue eyed person is homozygous recessive, and if they were to inherit one dominant, brown ... Show

Because one can be a wizard with only one gene expression, the trait could be sex linked, passed
down through the X and Y chromosomes that determine our gender. In modern science, it wasa
determined that sex lined genes passed through the X chromosome were not recessive nor dominant;
just sex linked. (Dobyns 11). Because there were previous studies on sex linked traits, like how two
parents with color blindnesss (recessive) have a daughter or son, they could also inherit color blindess
(CITE). Because of new studies showing that the x linked traits to not follow the same rules as normal
inheritance, the original theory presented in this paper holds true. The number of female and male
wizards is proportional, but if the trait was sex linked, then every family with any wizarding genes
would have all boys born become wizards, while only females who were born to two wizard parents
could have magic. Because this is not true in the book, as seen with the number of half blood and
muggle born female witches, readers can know that the trait is not sex

Hidden Homelessness, A Study By Sheffield Hallam...
INTRODUCTION TO THE RESEARCH QUESTION
Hidden Homelessness, a study by Sheffield Hallam University for Crisis, surveyed more than 400
rough sleepers revealing more than 1/5th of those interviewed had committed an imprisonable offence
in order to get off the streets for the night (THE GUARDIAN 2010).
Niven and Stewart s 2005 research indicates 30% of people released from prison are homeless and
offenders who are homeless prior to custody had one year reconviction of 79% compared with 47%
for those in accommodation (MOJ 2010).
Williams et al (2012) for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), indicated three fifths (60%) of prisoners
believed having a place to live was important in preventing future reoffending. The Prison Reform
Trust, reported in 2013 that 68% of prisoners considered being in employment on release was an
important factor in reducing reoffending.
The aim of this research is to establish how and why homeless people come to find themselves in
prison and factors that may influence their likelihood of reoffending in future. Furthermore it
questions whether homeless offenders are being adequately supported for their release whilst in prison
by housing, health, probation, welfare and education services. It will consider previous empirical
research in the field from Salem et al (2013) as well as McFarland and Blair (1995) and Pleace (2013).
It will establish whether there is a disconnect between services commissioned by stakeholders from
third party and voluntary

My Academic Goals And Research Interests
My academic goals and research interests have developed significantly over the course of my
undergraduate studies at Susquehanna University. When I first arrived at Susquehanna I was a biology
major and had dreams of medical school. However, by the end of freshman year, I began to develop an
interest in neuroscience. Declaring a major in neuroscience allowed me to explore the components of
biology I loved, while incorporating psychology and chemistry.
My research interests developed from my exposure to the various areas of neuroscience through my
internships, research experiences and courses. I am currently working on a research project, with the
goal of gaining a more thorough understanding of the genes involved in lateral glial cell differentiation
in the central nervous system of Drosophila. I conduct genetic crosses to obtain the desired genomes
and collect embryos for immunostaining. I examine the expression of a conceptual gene, cg31235,
which is solely expressed in longitudinal glial cells, in the presence of the genes Pointed P1 (PntP1)
and Reversed Polarity (Repo). Subsequently, I will then use immunostaining to examine the
expression of PntP1 and Repo in order to determine whether they regulate the genes involved in the in
the development and function of longitudinal glia. Last fall, I presented my research proposal, which
was followed by a presentation at the Society of Developmental Biology this spring. These
experiences have strengthened my desire to explore

Analysis of Letter from Birmingham Jail
Reverend Martin Luther King Jr, a civil rights leader, was thrown in jail for nonviolently protesting
against segregation without a permit in in Birmingham, Alabama. The same day he was thrown in jail
Martin Luther King Jr. received a newspaper in which eight Birmingham clergyman criticizing his
nonviolent approach, calling Martin Luther King an outsider, and urging the black community to
refrain from engaging in the protest. In response, Martin Luther King Jr. Wrote a letter to the

In his writing, he illustrates the harsh treatment of blacks, King states, when you see the vast majority
of your twenty million Negro brothers smothering in an airtight cage of poverty in the midst of an
affluent society. While there are many opportunities to succeed, black people are unable to obtain the
resources to progress and are trapped in poverty. King does a great job of appealing to pathos with this
metaphor because he relates black oppression to an airtight cage and an affluent society with
opportunities of success King creates the feeling of being hopeless and desperation that blacks feel.
Another example of a metaphor used by Martin Luther King Jr. appealing to pathos is his comparison
of the racial injustice to quicksand and a rock solid to brotherhood. In that passage Martin Luther King
Jr. uses quicksand to show that racial injustice is only causing the country to sink while brotherhood is
stability. The metaphor targets emotions by showing how deadly it is to stay in the quicksand of racial
injustice. The metaphors used by Martin Luther King Jr s. writing creates a vivid image of the
severely horrid situation that blacks are facing during their strive for

Television Series Named Breaking Bad Essay
In 2008, AMC showcased a hit television series named Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad follows a
protagonist Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher (who lives with his wife, Skyler and their
teenage son who has cerebral palsy) who is diagnosed with inoperable cancer, and turns to
manufacturing and selling methamphetamine in order to secure his family s future (Breaking Bad).
Although on the surface Walter White is depicted as a good guy turned bad, in actuality the character
is truly embracing his deviant subconscious self. Walter White can reasonably be deemed as an
immoral character due to the fact that his criminal behavior was instinctual, he continuously justifies
his decisions, and he displays an insatiable desire to commit unlawful acts.
In the beginning, it is fairly certain that he starts manufacturing and selling methamphetamine to
secure his family s long term financial security. But as his work progresses, his infamy grows. The
pseudonym Heisenberg he picks for himself slowly begins to take on a life of its own. Unlike Walter,
Heisenberg is self assured and confident. He is able to hold his own against aggressive and
psychologically unstable drug dealers, and he only grows stronger as the series advances. Walter
White s long dormant pride and ego start to awaken as the series deepens. The more he taps into his
alter ego, the more he shows his true colors. Therefore, throughout the show, it is evident that he is
imploring his natural instincts. It comes so

The Musical Influence of Johann Sebastian Bach
The Musical Influence of Johann Sebastian Bach
Among the influential composers of baroque music, there have been few who have contributed so
much in talent, creativity, and style as Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach was a German organist and
composer of the baroque era. Bach was born on March 21, 1685 in Eisenach, Thuringia and died July
28,1750. Bach revealed his feelings and his insights in his pieces. Bach s mastery of all the major
forms of baroque music (except opera) resulted not only from his genius talent, but also from his life
long quest for knowledge. In some parts of Germany, the name, Bach became a synonym with the
word, musician. Extremely talented in the art of baroque composition, Bach placed his heart, soul, and

As a master of several instruments, he became a violist in a court orchestra when he was only 18.
Later, he became the organist of several churches in Arnstadt. Throughout these churches he had
developed a reputation of having a brilliant musical talent. Also, because of his perfectionist
tendencies and high expectations of other musicians, he fought many times which is yet another
example of his compassion for music. Furthermore, he had even walked over 200 miles because a
great vocalist known as Buxtehude influenced him. As an organist and a choirmaster, Bach continued
to devote his life to composing music for churches. He would work under dim light creating these
masterpieces. After conducting and composing for the court orchestra at Cothen for seven years, Bach
accepted the job of being a music director for the St. Thomas s church in Leipzig. His compassion for
music went on even further after he became blind. He was still creatively active until the very end.
Even just before his death, he dictated his last musical composition to his son in law. His career was
surely a massive indication of his talent and the heart and soul he put into his music.
The effort of his devotion to music seen in his life and career hopefully will never be forgotten but
also that one should take notice the sheer genius this composer displayed in his musical works. Bach s
expressive genius in working counterpoint was a clear indication of him

  • 5. The Social Perception Of A Hollywood Movie Star Gone Dark I want to live fast and die young. Many celebrities live by these words and follow them as an unspoken desire for personal satisfaction and gratification. While many have risen to fame and glory, only to lose their spurious fortunes amongst the squalor of human indecency, one man will always drunkenly pratfall into the social perception of a Hollywood movie star gone dark; Chris Farley. Christopher Crosby Farley, definitely did not have a normal life, but it was not necessarily a bad one. He had a catholic upbringing with an upper middle class family from Wisconsin, a decent education, an active, if not healthy social life, a job which generated millions of dollars for him by doing what he loves, and every time he walked into a room the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His father owned an oil company, and his mother stayed at home to take care of the home and children. When Farley was in school he never really felt like he fit in, he was the the awkward fat kid in class who would do anything to get a laugh out of someone. He assumed that people were going to laugh at him anyways so he might as well make it big and make it funny. In one instance, he got up as a teacher was finishing a lecture and mooned the entire class, exposing his rear and causing him to almost get kicked out of school, but the authorities thought the incident so innocently funny that he was let off the hook. He loved to play sports in and out of school, while he may not have been any good, he still showed ferocious devotion and an exaggerated intensity when in the game. He was always huge for his age, but he was surprisingly athletic in comparison, this showed off and on the stage when he performed his own stunts, or clumsily fell onto a table, as he regularly did on movies and television. He grew into his teen years a sweet charitable fool who partied harder than he made people laugh, which was in no way insignificant. He studied theater and communications at Marquette University, and graduated in 1986. After he graduated he went on to Second City Theatre in Chicago, the place where one of his biggest Idols, John Belushi, got his start. • 6. Gender Stereotypes In The Piano By Jane Campion The Piano focuses on the love triangle of Ada, her husband Stewart and her lover Baines. Ada, at the middle of two dominating male characters, is seemly quiet but her bold and manipulative moves show a more calculating side to her character. Jane Campion s characterisation of multidimensional characters that often bend the gender stereotypes but also play directly into them. When Baines meets Ada, his attraction to her is instant. The audience witnesses a conversation between Baines and Stewart whereby Baines offers to buy Ada s piano if she will give him lessons. It is clear that Baines intentions in this request are not honest and that he is interest in making a sexual advance towards the newly married Ada. This level of calculating manipulation is typically a male characteristic, and his blatant attempt at receive sex from her shows a male stereotype whereby all men are driven by their want for sex. During the first love scene between Ada and Stewart, Ada attempts to get Stewart into an exposed and compromised position whereby she has power and control over the situation. Stewart ultimately becomes uncomfortable very quickly, playing into the masculine stereotype that men do not like to be dominated. However contrastingly, Stewart has a caring side whereby he becomes a fatherly figure to Ada s daughter. The next love scene between Ada and Stewart is more violent and shows the gender stereotypes or expectations coming to the surface. Stewart becomes enraged when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Creative Concepts Of Creative Products Creative products are goods or services produced and sold by creative industries. Creative industries are defined as having their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent. They typically develop products offered in the entertainment sector such as music, theatre, opera, film, art, broadcasting, etc. Universally seen as a unique type of product, they produce symbolic goods in the form of experiences, ideas or images. Because their products take the form of an experience or service, they are classified as intangible. Intangible goods are products that have no physical nature meaning a person cannot hold, touch, smell or otherwise handle it. Creative products are also seen as ephemeral, meaning they only last for a certain period of time. Their value derives from the artistic and human talents incorporated in it at the different stages of creation, production, reproduction and distribution. (CITE) In many ways, these creative products are often seen as more difficult to analyse, manage or sell compared to other commodity goods or services. Figuring out why these products are often seen as more difficult means understanding how these particular products are managed compared to their counterpart. Most notably, there is not just one product being produced and sold. When it comes to creative goods, the whole product is composed of several different types. • 9. Analysis of Tolkien s The Hobbit J.R.R. Tolkien starts his world renowned book The Hobbit with, In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit (1). This book is a tale of a small hobbit named Bilbo and his ever memorable journey through the evil world during his time. Living in the Shire, as his homeland is called, it is very calm and pleasant for Bilbo, but once the outer limits of the land are reached Bilbo is in for a great surprise. Needing a burglar on his journey Gandalf the Grey, who is famous for his magic with fire and light, came to ask for Bilbo s assistance. Bilbo listened intently as the dwarves sang songs and told poems of their long ago taken land. Singing of golden hoards and long forgotten gold Bilbo began to become very enthusiastic about the soon to come journey (22). As the dwarves went on, the hobbit felt that this journey would be good for him. He accepted the task, but not before the Dwarves, along with Gandalf, enchanted the young hobbit with the treasure to be found. Being fairly wealthy Bilbo had no need for this wealth, but before long the hobbit could feel the love of beautiful things made by hands and by cunning and by magic moving through him, and a fierce and jealous love, the desire of the hearts of dwarves (24). Apparently Bilbo is beginning to change from a commoner to a treasure seeker, not quite beginning to become a hero, but change is still change. Soon Bilbo s transition into a hero will begin, with a rude awakening. So before Bilbo new what was happening and even before dawn the next morning the troop of fifteen set out. Through the Shire no adventure or trouble was found, but that soon changed. Within a few leagues of the Shire s border young Bilbo encountered his first adventure. Walking slowly through the dark, Gandalf quickly stopped and hushed the others. Up above the road a small fire could be seen and cold, low voices could be heard singing of roasted mutton. • 10. The Wife s Lament Analysis What is exile? Exile is the action of one being kicked out of their home or native land, usually as a punishment. According to Anglo Saxons, all exile is a model of the banishment of humankind from its rightful place in Heaven. Exile is a pretty frequent theme of Anglo Saxon literature by symbolizing this in many different scenarios and using different characters and places. Since the religion of christianity was so important to the Anglo Saxons, this was a scary thing for many of them to find in their literature. After one examines the lyrics in The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and The Wife s Lament, one will notice that exile is included in all three of these Anglo Saxon stories. In each of these stories, the theme of exile is prominently emphasized through at least one detail. For example, in the stories The Seafarer and The Wanderer, the theme of exile is demonstrated and emphasized through the use of water. The narrators in these stories are on sea voyages and water is used to represent their separation, or exile, from their original home. In the story The Wife s Lament, the theme of exile is demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My man s kinsmen began to plot by darkened thought to divide us two so we most widely in the world s kingdom lived wretchedly and I suffered longing (lns. 11 14). • 11. The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum by Heinrich Boll Essays The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum by Heinrich Boll Authors often use characters within their novels to show the consequences of challenging cultural boundaries and, in turn, display their own personal concerns. It is not uncommon for characters to reflect an author s ideology regarding social groups in their contemporary time periods. It is clear that this is certainly the case with the 1975 novel The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum, (also referred to as How Violence Develops and Where it Can Lead), written by the German Author, Heinrich Boll. The Lost Honour is, on the surface, an attack on yellow journalism and the damage it causes to the lives of the people reported on. However, with a more in depth analysis of the novel we are able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bolls sympathy and admiration for economically lower class citizens, most likely due to the economic hardship faced by his father, is presented through the hardworking nature of Blum. However, he also shows the suspicion cast upon Blum because of her comfortable living standards as a result of her independent ways. This suggests that he is concerned with people s inability to except rises in class without assuming something sinister or unlawful has occurred in the process. Through the use of his characters in The Lost Honour and Bolls personal life experiences we are able to see his concerns regarding the cultural boundaries within Germany. Boll has demonstrated a sympathetic leaning towards females through the lack of power and rights given to his title character Katharina Blum in correlation with his own political views. It is clear that within The Lost Honour it is Blum who we are supposed to sympathise with. This is clear through the satirical tone used by the less then objective limited third person narrator. One of the things implied about women, specifically Blum, repeatedly throughout the novel is the fact that they were created to satisfy men s sexual needs and little else. An example of this is during the questioning of Blum about her relationship with Gotten as Beizmenne allegedly asked Blum Well, did he fuck you? Blum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. In Zimbabwe We Don T Cry For Lion Analysis In Zimbabwe, We Don t Cry for Lions Doctoral student in molecular and cellular biosciences at Wake Forest University, Goodwell Nzou, in his opinion piece, In Zimbabwe, We Don t Cry for Lions, effectively claims that Americans are not making a feasible claim when they are over expressing their feeling about Cecil s death, when in fact lions are harmful and kill villagers. He supports this claim asserting American are over exaggerating Cecil s death and are acting like this has never happened before. Nzou uses rhetorical questions and sarcasm to appeal to pathos when stating, Did all those Americans signing petitions understand that lions actually kill people? That all the talk about Cecil being beloved or a local favorite was media hype? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author uses pathos to get people to feel sympathy for the family in the village who lost their son when he got mauled by a lion. This quote greatly supports the author s purpose for writing this article. Finally he supports this claim asserting people are too ignorant to make a feasible claim about the situation. He uses diction and parallel structure to appeal to pathos when stating, Don t tell us what to do with our animals when you allow your own mountain lions to be hunted to near extinction in the eastern United States. Don t bemoan the clear cutting of our forest when you turn yours into concrete jungles. The author uses parallel structure when repeating, Don t to emphasise his overall point. He also uses diction to assert his claim when he uses the words, extinction, bemoan, and concrete jungles . He specifically used these words to get us to feel the injustice about how the Americans are acting about Cecil s death. Overall, Nzou combines his condemnatory and critical tone with these appeals to effectively point out to the people who are crying about Cecil s death that lions are harmful to people and killing lions happens all the time in the area. • 13. Taking a Look at Body Art Research Assignment (Body Art) Body painting is a certain form of art that continued with humans through the ancient times to the modern day times, where artists use the human body as canvasses to show beauty like no other style of artwork can. African, European, Asia, and Australian tribes have shown records that body painting was used. The tribes were using pigments from plant leaves and fruits to decorate themselves because body art was an important part of their lives. Body art would represent qualities of the people, goals for life, gods, and many war themes. The first full body painting arose in 1933 of a naked model in Chicago. Body painting spread out during the 1960 s when hippies began the movement in the United States. It is important to clarify that body painting is not just applied to nude bodies, but also can be applied to pieces of skin. Alexa Meade is a very skilful artist and has a certain style and view of body painting herself. Alexa was born and raised in 1986 in Washington, D.C. In 2009, Meade graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY majoring in political science. Meade received her bachelor s degree, but never attended art school. Meade was forced to teach herself how to paint, which started at the age of 15. When interviewed, Meade stated, I didn t have to think of painting as this thing on canvas, because I didn t have any practice doing that. I just saw paint as something that can be used in space. • 14. The Between Dance And The Self Within Fish Tank, performance serves a multitude of functions. For one, characters in the film define themselves in relation to dance, and performance as a whole is presented as an outlet and a means to attain freedom. Yet, the relationship between dance and the self is also antithetical as, whilst individual characters escape social definition through the act of dance, the act itself defines them. This can be seen especially in relation to the female identity that is imposed with sexual objectivity through dance. However, dance also operates in a figurative sense, Mia, dances with the idea of reinvention, escape and of learning the steps to life. Overall, dance is presented as being highly important to the exploration and attainment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Mia s lack of talent for dancing establishes a sense of futility regarding her escape. Nonetheless, Mia s desire to dance reflects her broad desire to express herself creatively. Mia s desire to escape social constraint is further revealed through her attempt to connect to the Black American culture. Mia s dance moves and music choices create an interesting dynamic to her self expression, for example, Mia s burgeoning connection to Connor is revealed through her choice to dance to his favourite song. Further, as Mia dances in front of the television in her kitchen, she does so to an African American pop song, featuring street dance (0.13.19). Mia s copying of the dance moves is emblematic of her attempt to re construct and re define her identity. The..cultural..messages..that..she..receives from the television, dance and music therefore, are presented as being key in Mia s process of self discovery. Connor s comment You dance like a black is intended as a compliment, yet reveals further Mia s attempt to construct her identity out of cultural fragments. Broadly, through dance, and performing aspects of African American street culture, Mia s powerful desire to escape societal constraint is made apparent. Mia s attempt to connect with a world different to her own, is emblematic of Mia s attempt to seek freedom. Whilst allowing Mia to escape, dance allows Mia to reconcile the conflict within her life, particularly in her family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through each member of the alley each of these ideas are explored, and a truth is revealed about the meanings of these emotions and how they impact the way humans interact with one another. Unit 11 Bridge Building Project Bridge Building Project By Maryum Sheikh Hi, my name is Maryum and the bridges that I researched about are the Golden Gate Bridge, the Batman Bridge, the Auckland Harbor Bridge, the Bixby Creek Bridge, and the Quebec Bridge. First, I would like to tell you about the Golden Gate Bridge. I m pretty sure many of you may know about this bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge and was built in San Francisco, California in 1937. The Golden Gate Bridge spans or crosses the Golden Gate strait which is a mile wide and 3 miles long. The weight of the roadway is hung from 2 cables that pass through two main towers and are fixed in concrete at each end. Each cable is made of 27,572 strands of wire. There are 80,000 miles of wire in the main cables. These cables help support the bridge because of the big distance. The bridge also has approximately 1,200,000 total rivets. So my opinion about the bridge is that it is a very well made bridge and it also has a very good design. The second bridge I will be talking about is the Batman Bridge. Some stories are passed down from generation to generation and change along the way. Fairy tales as Cinderella have many different variants depending on the origin of where the story was created. A Cinderella story in the United States differs from a Cinderella story from Russia. Cinderella is nothing of a mere template of a specific folk tale. Cinderella is a story of a daughter who is looked down upon by her evil stepmother and her stepsisters. Her stepmother does not allow her to go to a ball announced by a prince, but Cinderella eventually finds a way of going and she marries the prince. Charles Perrault and The Brothers Grimm are both famous for their variations of this story. Perrault is famous for adding many elements to the story such as the fairy godmother and the glass slipper. Grimm is famous for his gruesome version of Cinderella that ended in the eyes of the sisters getting pecked out by birds. Despite both stories being similar, Perrault and Grimm show many aspects of the story that are sparingly different. Both stories consisted of an evil stepmother, but there is a father in both stories who play a different role. In Perrault s version of the story, he says The poor girl bore all patiently, and dared not complain to her father, who would have scolded her if she had done so, for his wife governed him entirely (Perrault, 236). If a character in a book acted differently in situations, it would change the outcome of the whole book. Cosmopolitanism s idea of cross culture communication is split into different parts with the ideas that one should respect others even when they are strangers, one must not hold others to such high expectations, and one may be connected to different people who come from different cultures through the same idea. The character Mr. Smith, in Things Fall Apart, replaces Mr. Brown as the Christian missionary in Umuofia, who runs the church. He is a strict white man who is not understanding to Umuofia s culture. When one applies Kwame Anthony Appiah s idea of cross culture communication in Cosmopolitanism to the character, Mr. Smith, in Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, this character changes by accepting other beliefs, including everyone no matter their status, and continuing as Mr. Brown would have. The first idea of cross cultural communication is that one must not hold others to such high expectations, which relates to Mr. Smith in the sense that when he enters Umuofia he believed that all of the Christian followers should know and believe in all aspects of Christianity. This is not following the cosmopolitanism idea because he holds the newfound Christians to such high expectations, in the sense that he thinks they should know everything about the religion. The next meaning is a reference to the protagonist s great grandfather whose name was Solomon and had a song about him in which Solomon could fly and left his son Jake on the ground and inevitably to a white man s house. A gene is informally defined as a unit of heredity that is transferred from a parent to offspring and determines some characteristics of the offspring (CITE). An Allele is one of two or more alternative forms of a gene that arise by mutation and are found at the same place on a chromosome. To be a wizard, a person must be born Homozygous Recessive, meaning their DNA must have two copies of the same gne, but not a dominant alelle. Because one can be a wizard with only one gene expression, the trait could be sex linked, passed down through the X and Y chromosomes that determine our gender. Because there were previous studies on sex linked traits, like how two parents with color blindnesss (recessive) have a daughter or son, they could also inherit color blindess (CITE). Because of new studies showing that the x linked traits to not follow the same rules as normal inheritance, the original theory presented in this paper holds true. The number of female and male wizards is proportional, but if the trait was sex linked, then every family with any wizarding genes would have all boys born become wizards, while only females who were born to two wizard parents could have magic. Niven and Stewart s 2005 research indicates 30% of people released from prison are homeless and offenders who are homeless prior to custody had one year reconviction of 79% compared with 47% for those in accommodation (MOJ 2010). Williams et al (2012) for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), indicated three fifths (60%) of prisoners believed having a place to live was important in preventing future reoffending. The Prison Reform Trust, reported in 2013 that 68% of prisoners considered being in employment on release was an important factor in reducing reoffending. The aim of this research is to establish how and why homeless people come to find themselves in prison and factors that may influence their likelihood of reoffending in future.
