The World s Biggest Package Delivery Company
2.1. Company overview
UPS had been in existence for over one hundred and seven years. It was initially started by two
individuals. These men started the company inside of the United States and it was initially a
messenger company. Over the years, the company has experienced a tremendous amount of growth.
It has evolved from a very small operation to a multi billion dollar company. The amount of growth
is attributed to how the company has concentrated its efforts and focused upon helping good to
transported and shipped around the world.
Currently, the company is a global giant, in terms of its ability to move goods. Also, the
company is highly visible and easily recognized. Over the years, it has become the world s
biggest package delivery company. However, it has also evolved to offer many other offerings
and services. On a daily basis, the company operates and manages how goods and information are
shipped throughout the world. UPS uses many different approaches to shipping goods and
information. The company owns and operates a fleet of vehicles and it also has a fleet of airplanes
as well. However, a main component of how the company differentiates itself from its competitors
is how it has Supply Chain Management offerings. This is an area where the company has a
competitive advantage against other companies in the industry. The company also has advantages
in terms of how it uses technology to become efficient. This is highlighted by the handheld
computers that many

Examples Of First Impression In Beowulf
It takes one tenth of a second to make a first impression. There is evolutionary basis behind this
split second decision, because it was once important to know in an instant whether or not someone
is a friend or foe. Unfortunately, research has shown that a first impression is relatively stable and
unlikely to change even with prolonged exposure to the person. Many aspects of an individual s
appearance can weigh into a first impression and perception of a person, but the first impression
weighs heavily on how we treat a person down the line, and develop both platonic and romantic
relationships.
The development of creating believable draws on the description of characters deals with the idea
of drawing on the audience s Thin slicing . This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, after reading up on developmental psychology and the psychology of relationships it seems
that women have used their looks and sexuality in order to gain power and status. Queen
Elizabeth I wrote, The weight and greatness of this matter might cause in me, being a woman
wanting both wit and memory , Elizabeth was known to utilize her sexuality in order to gain
political favor by toying with other powerful figures. This was not something that she was
forced into however she was using her wit and body in a way to manipulate those around her.
This use of sexuality as power over men was seen in The Twelfth Night, he is yours, and his
must needs be yours. Your servant s servant is your servant, madam. During this scene Viola is
talking to Olivia about the power she holds over Duke Orsino simply because he is head over
heels in love with her. The fact that Shakespeare was commenting on this power that women held
over men it seems only natural to infer that this was a well known and readily utilized power of
women during the time. We nowadays are so quick to judge saying that women were powerless
and only sexual objects in the literature we have read during this semester, yet it seems that women
instead used their sexuality as power over

A View From The Bridge Essay examples
A View From The Bridge
Whatever happened we all done it and don t you ever forget it.
The play A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller is set in New York in the 1950s. During this
period of time there were many illegal immigrants from Eastern Europe moving in to America.
This was due to the depression caused by the Second World War. The depression caused a lack of
work, many people started to migrate to America where there were many jobs. Due to the mass
immigration America started to restrict the number of people gaining citizenship and made it illegal
to house immigrants.
The story is set around Eddie Carbone, an Italian immigrant who has citizenship in America. His

She was the mother figure. One of her main mistakes was that she could have got Catherine to

did not sense the change in Eddie s character until it was too late. She could have sense the change

Catherine also played a large part in Eddie s downfall. Even though

Explain Why William Became Involved in Wales in the Years...
June 2010 optional question 3 Explain why William became involved in Wales in the years 1066
to 1087 (12) Plan * Wanted to assert his authority over them * Had to keep Wales at bay because
the border kept shifting * Rebels that went against William went to Wales for safety The main
reason that William became involved in Wales shortly after he had taken England was because he
would have seen the Welsh as a threat. Along with many other countries, they would have known
that the situation in England was unstable and William may have thought Wales were planning an
invasion. To assert his authority over Wales, he led a campaign into their country in 1066 and an

Also, Scotland could provide refuge for anyone that had rebelled against William (including
Edgar) which would have furthered the tensions. The disputes of land had also caused problems
for William. Lands such as Cumbria and Northumbria were disputed between Malcolm and
William. This became worrying for William because parts of his kingdom were being threatened
to be taken from him which would give Malcolm more land and support against William. However,
the threat of Scotland was not as substantial as some historians make it out to be. In 1072, William
marched through Scotland with relative ease. Although Williams army was fearfully exposed
according to Purser, the Scottish did not capitalize on this opportunity. This could be interpreted as
Malcolm showing he did not want to fight against William. This point links into the treaty of
Abernethy. In the same year Malcolm met William at abernethy and signed a treaty which shown
that he recognised William as his superior. According to purser, in good faith , Malcolm kicked
Edgar out of his court which would have made further rebellions in the north very difficult. Overall,
Scotland was initially a threat around the time of the Northern rebellion however the treaty of
Abernathy played a main factor in extinguishing the threat of the

The airline industry is by itself plays a big part in the economy. It generates 31.9 million jobs
globally. (The impact of the financial crisis on labour in the civil aviation industry) It involves
transportations, catering, securities, logistics, etc. As it does not work as an industry by itself, HR
planning comes to be an important task.
The airline industry has generally seen success in the many aspects involved with it service,
tourism, innovations etc. Despite the terrorism setbacks, the industry has managed to bounce back
on its feet and even produce a stunning display of grit in its armoury to be steadfast in its mission
to uphold everyone s safety yet delivering impeccable service.
The airline industry is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It needs to hire staff from around the world that has the right talent and fits the organisation. This
will lead to several issues such as cultural difference and managing the different expectations of
their staff. With a global workforce, the airlines in Singapore will face a difficult task in training
their staff due to their different backgrounds. With more airlines operating in Singapore, the
industry could face competition and difficulty in hiring staff.
An airline in Singapore will not just face competition for staff from other airlines operating in
Singapore but also from other airlines around the world. This is due to the emerging trend of the
willingness of the current workforce to work and live overseas. This could be attributed to the
prospect of learning a different culture and the ability to gain experience in a different country.
With the fierce competition from the numerous airlines and the fact that Singapore is a small
country with high living standards, another staffing issue affecting the airline industry in Singapore
is retaining staff. This can be a difficult task as the current workforce will look not only their salary
but the all the benefits as a whole. Retaining staff is important as it allows the organisation to serve
its customers better and spend less on recruiting and training new staff.
Another issue affecting the airline industry in Singapore is the career planning and

Racial Profiling is Necessary
In order to understand racial profiling, it must first be correctly defined. Although different
authors use different criteria for the term racial profiling, Merriam Webster s definition for the
word racial is of, relating to, or based on a race (Merriam Webster, 2006; p.855). The definition
the dictionary puts forth for profiling is the act of suspecting or targeting a person solely on the
basis of observed characteristics or behavior (Merriam Webster, 2006; p.830). Based on these
definitions, racial profilingcould be defined for criminal justice purposes as targeting a person
based solely on the characteristic of race. Most people, law enforcement officers included, would
consider racial profiling based on this definition as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He actually went as far as to lay out the groundwork for ethical color profiling. First, the profile
cannot be too broad and cannot include too many people as suspects (Corlett, 2006; p.28). Second,
ethnic background of the witnesses from whom the profiles are drawn must be taken into account ,
meaning that if someone is racist or has other negative characteristics, the account of race might be
false (Corlett, 2006; p. 28). Lastly, he argued that the same tactics must be used for everyone, no
matter race, class, et cetera (Corlett, 2006; p.29). Other authors had opinions on the topic of
racial profiling. In Crime and Policing in Rural and Small Town America, the authors bemoaned
the lack of research that has been done about race and crime in suburban and rural areas,
claiming that the research that abounds regarding urban areas is incompatible with suburban and
rural areas (Weisheit, Falcone, and Wells, 2006; p.38). They believed that by putting more effort
in to the area of race in rural and suburban areas, it will be proven that minorities are actually
underrepresented in the justice system in rural areas (Weisheit, Falcone, and Wells, 2006; p.38).
This argument could go further by saying that the current research that favors the critics side of
racial profiling might be inaccurate. George M. Fredrickson s work focused on the history of
racism from a historian s perspective and he believed that any profiling based on race is wrong

The Latest Plague
In the Victorian Age occurred the revival of religion following the moral principles of the Bible.
It was thought that if everybody could live by the ideas that the Bible suggests, the world would
be a better place, without crime, jealousy or any other sin given by the Ten Commandments. This
period of belief in God and Bibleended very soon, because of the different publications regarding
the natural elements and the genesis thru science.
The poem The Latest Decalogue is a satire addressed to the society of the Victorian age, who
thought themselves to be very religious persons, but in fact they were not. Clough uses here The
Ten Commandments, how they were given by God and how are they seen and applied on every day

On the one hand, God disapproves with the action of coveting, but generation by generation it
continued to be the reason why people prosper. At school we are learnt to be better and have
bigger grades than the others, to have a better job, better cloths, house or car. The same was back
then, they wanted to be in the spotlight with all they did.
The ending offers a perspective about towards what our love should be transmitted. The poet
implies that we should always love God, as he is our master, who keeps an eye on us, seeing what
we are doing and what kind of persons are we, in order that He will know if he will prepare a place
for us in His kingdom. But, loving God, and not loving your neighbour, as many are doing does not
love God at all. God created us according to His face and His affinity. Acting as we do not love
others is a real prove that we do not love God, Who has put a part of Him in every one of us.
To sum up, creating this poem, Clough succeed in satirize the religious people around him. He
compares the lessons that our Creator has left for us and how people are applying them to their
life. It is a major distinction between how they should act and think and how they really are. This

Women In Ballet Essay examples
Ballet is an art form born out of the expressionism and creativity of the Renaissance period
(Kraus 63). From the first ballet performed in 1580 to the present, women have been portrayed as
fragile and dependent on men. One such ballet is The Nutcracker in which the girl heroine Clara
relies on the Nutcracker to save her from the evil Mouse King.
The first production of The Nutcracker was performed for critics, public figures, and members of
high society and received lack luster reviews on December 17, 1892 (Anderson 40 52). The story
opens in the parlor of a middle class German family, the Stahlbaums, during a party on Christmas
Eve. Excitement fills the air in anticipation of the night s festivities. The ... Show more content on

A flower garden also waltzes for the children, and the most impressive dance is that for the
Sugarplum fairy and her Prince. When the party comes to an end, Clara is whisked back home
(Anderson 9 13).
There are various ways in which The Nutcracker displays what is believed to be a woman s place
in society. Through the children s actions, one is able to see a clear distinction between male
and female gender rolls. Clara is a sweet and innocent girl, and her brother, Fritz, is a scamp
always causing trouble (Anderson 9). Clara is shown a world in which girls play with dolls and
learn to be nurturing mothers and boys train to be brave soldiers. Throughout the party scene
Clara holds and cares for her Nutcracker as if it were a baby. The Nutcracker also displays a woman
s dependence on a man. Clara must rely on the Nutcracker Prince to save her from the Mouse King.
She can throw her slipper to distract the evil Mouse King, but it is the Nutcracker who gives the
Mouse King a mortal wound (Banes 60).
Ultimately, The Nutcracker is Clara s girlhood dream of love and marriage. In the Land of
Sweets, Clara is finally able to be with her prince and with shining eyes adores him (Balanchine
249 253). The Nutcracker also restores the ideal that marriage for gentry women is sweet, pleasant,
and fulfilling. In the metaphoric wedding feast in Act II, Clara is calm and docile watching the
various antics, but not participating, which also represents a

serves billions of people all over the world every year with a large range of services. The Catholic
religion is dominated by the theological philosophy that one must be a good person, but also give

censorship of Howard Hughes film Scarface (1932) while presenting the opinions of the proponents
and opponents of the practice of censorship in Scarface. Although Scarface (1932), was thought to
be a dangerous filmduring the 1930s, the film, in general, only portrayed the violence that already

Hollywood had every right to make films on controversial topics, but various censorship boards
thought otherwise, and these censorship boards felt that it was necessary to have community
restrictions on immoral topics of controversy such as adultery, prostitution and divorce. The
question was how censorship should be placed on films as well as to what extent in the way these
controversial topics were presented (Black 53).
Continuing the battle over screen content was not an easy task issues were intensified as United
States was facing the greatest economic decline in U.S. history caused by the Depression. As
economic conditions were declining, the film making technology was improving greatly, making
more exciting movies by turning silent cinema into sound movies (Black 53). Having this new
technology allowed a more realistic form of entertainment that was different to other forms of
entertainment such as novels. Consequently, these pictures became a great fascination to the
public, offering a kind of cultural escape valve to which audiences could explore serious
controversial issues that were comparative to the era that they were living in. Given that film
producers were including contemporary controversial issues in their film along with the new
technology of sound movies became a great controversial problem considering the morality of all
audiences (women, men and children of all ages).

Christian Worldview Definition
A worldview is an intrinsic part of a person. It shapes who they are, what they believe, and how
they act. It is something that each person holds on to, and lets it shape themselves, their

Millennial Generation, as continuing to grow in this culture of self satisfaction. In theological
terms, Postmodernism believes that Atheism is too objective to their belief. That in Atheism still
holds the same philosophical principles clerically to Theism. The main principle of Postmodernism
is to rid the world of religion, which if assuming Atheism as a main religion, it defeats the problem
the Postmodernism tries to fight. For Postmodernists, truth is subjective. It is only found within a

Latin American Equality
Evita and the Struggle for Equality in Latin America
The struggle for equality in Latin America is a perpetual conflict. This battle began in the fifteenth
century when the Spaniards and Portuguese colonized the lands of the Americas. In a book titled:
Latin America: an Interpretive History, author Julie A. Charlip states, Latin Americahas moved
from paradise to poverty as a result of historical patterns that have developed over the years (Charlip

Telescopes Are Those That Use Both Mirrors And Lenses
Catadioptric: Catadioptric telescopes are those that use both mirrors and lenses to produce an
image. The most common or popular type of catadioptric telescope is the Schmidt Cassegrain
telescope. Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes (SCT) are a catadioptric design, meaning they use
both lenses and mirrors. SCTs are primarily reflecting telescopes, but they use a corrector lens to
eliminate aberrations that would result from the mirror design alone. In an SCT the incoming
light passes through the Schmidt corrector lens (also called a corrector plate) at the front of
telescope. It is reflected from a concave primary mirror at the back of the scope which focuses
the light to the front of the telescope where it is reflected again by a smaller, convex secondary
mirror. Finally, the light travels back through a hole in the primary mirror to the rear of the
scope where an eyepiece is located for visual observing. (Starizona.com, 2015) Below is a ray
diagram of a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope: (A levelphysicstutor.com, 2015) At first it seems that
an SCT should have a focal length twice as long as the length of the tube, since the light travels
twice the length of the tube. However, SCTs actually have focal lengths about 5 times longer than
the tube length. This is due to the convex curvature of the secondary mirror. This effectively
magnifies the focal length, making the scope act much longer than it is. The diagram below shows
how a Cassegrain type telescope (such as an SCT)

Summary Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Cultural Legacies Final Paper In chapter seven and chapter eight of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell
effectively claims that acknowledging cultural legacies betters the chance of success. In chapter
seven of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell entices readers on the topic of plane crashes in the aviation
world, while commendably and credibly synthesizing the controversy around the question of how
and why plane crashes occur. When illustrating the terrible crash of Korean Airlines Flight 801 in
1997, Gladwell intricately describes the language, words, actions, and psychology of the pilots and
crew members associated with the plane crash to better the authenticity of his claim. Combining
these ideas, Gladwell forms a theory that arguably proves to be true... Show more content on

While I was there, I saw firsthand the importance of cultural legacy and the effect it had on the
communication between groups of different cultural legacies: Haitian and American. Having the

prostitution. Not only does Haiti s cultural legacy induce the tradition of this assumption, it also
induces the assumption that prostitution is an act of Satan. Further into the story, I walked past a

Woman Hollering Creek Summary
Woman Hollering Creek
As I was reading the Marriage unit assignments, I found I had a hard time relating to the readings
as I am Asexual Aromatic and cannot relate to the relationships or many of the circumstances the
authors wrote about. However, one story that really stood out which I could semi relate to, was
Woman Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros. The main character CleГіfilas s story has many
similarities to my mother s. While the story doesn t directly relate to me, the parallel events of
CleГіfilas s and my mother s stories have affected my life in one way or another. Similarly to
CleГіfilas, my mother experienced domestic violence, isolation from friends and family, as well as a
fear of shame towards leaving her husband. Within Cisneris s story, the main character CleГіfilas
experienced domestic violence just as my mother had in her past. A few years ago, after my parent

Meaning Of Homeland
Moving forward, the nationalist sentiments did not stop after the Holocaust, but were furthered, and
now captivated other nations in the world to support a Jewish state as well. Before the Holocaust,
Jews knew there was a mass presence of anti semitism throughout Europe, in which was a driving
factor to establish a homeland. After the Holocaust Zionismcontinued to gain popularity. In the

Israeli nationalism when claiming being a Jew in the diaspora means that Auschwitz is meant for

Multistep Synthesis Lab Report
Multistep Synthesis Of Benzilic Acid From Benzaldehyde Jesus Pena L20326354 Lamar
University CHEM 3112 Spring 2017 April 26th, 2017 Abstract: Benzilic acid is used in many
aspects of industry. These types of industry are the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries.
This process of taking benzaldehyde and using a multistep synthesis procedure makes making
benzilic acid fairly cheap. This is mainly due to the fact that benzaldehyde is a cheap starting
material and is very resourceful. The overall objective of the experiment was to obtain benzilic acid
with the use of the multistep synthesis procedure which consist of a benzoin condensation,
oxidation of benzoin, and a final molecular rearrangement of benzil. This is a fairly long experiment

The Battle Of The St. Lawrence Seaway
The Battle of the St. Lawrence Seaway refers to the attacks on Allied shipping in the Gulf of the
St. Lawrence from 1942 through to the end of the shipping season in 1944 . German submarines,
commonly called U boats, entered into these Canadian waters to hinder and delay Allied supplies
from reaching Britain across the Atlantic . However, Allied convoys still made voyages to Britain
and back, constantly supplying them with goods. Sailing across the middle of the Atlantic itself
was considered far more dangerous than just leaving the Canadian ports. Therefore, through
examining Germany s intent for entering the Gulf of the St. Lawrence, effect on Allied shipping,
and subsequent response by the Allies with respect to the attacks, it can be shown that U boats
entering into Canadian waters had very little impact on impeding Allied shipping. Allied shipping
from North America to Britain needed to supply at least a million tonnes of goods to allow Britain
to survive and fight against the Axis . Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of Britain for the duration
of the Second World War, called the Battle of the Atlantic the [most] dominating factor all through
the war. Never for one moment could we forget that everything happening elsewhere, on land, at
sea or in the air depended ultimately on its outcome . Therefore, whoever held the upper hand in
the Battle of the Atlantic held the advantage in supplies for the war. Germany decided to employ
their U boats to try to delay and strike

Citizen Journalism Essay
Citizen journalism is defined as any news content, such as articles, videos etc. created by amateurs.
Traditional and citizen journalism are often contrasted to each other, however it is important to note
the similarities alongside the differences. Because of the growing popularity of citizen journalism
due to new technologies such as social media websites, it is essential to weigh the risks and
opportunities to truly see how citizen journalismis affecting the world. It is vital to assess citizen
journalismand its benefits of collaboration and pluralising voices, alongside the risks of
inauthenticity, biasand causing an erosion in the quality of news, in order to fully understand its
impacts.
The pluralisation of voices that citizen journalism offers is considered one of the many benefits.
According to Melissa Wall (2015) this allows for new and important opinions and perspectives on
multiple events. For example, in rural India poor internet rates and a language barrier made it
nearly impossible for the majority of citizens to listen to the professional media. In order to expose
more citizens in India to local events, Shubhranshu Choudhary founded CGNet, which developed
into a mobile phone service, allowing for everyday citizens to report in on and listen to local events
in their native language. This leads to more, albeit unprofessional, perspectives on events from
residents (Chadha Steiner, 2015). The internet has been credited with having altered relationships

The Role Of Victor Isolation In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
The Enlightenment left a residue of creativity that gradually paved the way for another artistic
revolution known as romanticism. The concept of romanticism (early 19th century) emphasizes on
the inner emotions and imagination of the individual while at the same time expressing deep
interest in nature and the supernatural. During the romantic movement, one major contribution was
the birth of Gothic fiction. One author who strived under this literary genre was Mary Shelley.
Ever since she was a child, Shelly spent her hours of leisure in creative writing. Her years in

Price Whilst the company will wish to match its price to its marketing objectives; as a new product
entering an established market it may be tempting to price at a comparable level to other cheeses.
Factoring in production costs, target market, customer demand and life cycle, the pricing is a
matter of balance. A strong promotional push will encourage a consideration to employ penetration
pricing by entering the market at a relatively low price to gain a high market share.
Promotion Promotion should be mainly above the line with television advertising aimed at the
target segment. Advertising for the grey pound could be specific in late morning and early
afternoon slot relating to healthy activities such as home improvement, cooking and gardening
whilst the young professional could be targeted during the earliest sections of breakfast shows and
prime time in the evenings. Below the line advertising should include magazines which have been
identified as being the preserve of the segments. Strong lines of communication must be developed
with the retailer in readiness for promotional events

As permanent colour change is subjective, the detection of the end point is inconsistent, resulting in
an imprecise experiment.
However, systematic errors affected the experiment the most. The most significant systematic error
was reading off the amount of potassium manganate (VII) used in the titration from the burette. Due
to the deep purple colour of the solution, it was very difficult to read the increments. For both the
initial and final burette readings, readings might have been taken off the top of the meniscus,
causing an overestimation of potassium manganate (VII) needed and thus, the experimental mass
of FeSO4 in one tablet was larger than the manufacturer s claim of 300mg in one tablet.
Additionally, the dissolving method of the iron tablets was a major systematic error. Because we
were just using a glass rod to crush and stir the iron tablets and because of the limited time spent on
the procedure, the iron tablets may not have been completely dissolved in the water. Hence, there
would be less Fe2+ ions in the iron solution and thus, less potassium manganate (VII) would be
needed to reach the end point. Some Fe2+ ions might also have been lost on the filter paper or the
beaker whilst transferring the solution, thus causing less potassium manganate to reach the end
point and resulting in inaccurate measurements and calculations.
Evaluation:
As seen from the relatively small percentage error (1.49%) of my experimental result when

The Sun Also Rises Robert Cohn Essay
What were your first thoughts when you read this? And then? And then? My first thought when I

his father and brother in difficult environments emasculates Willy. Although he has a great
superiority complex when it comes to others, such as Charley when he comes to visit, when Willy
speaks to his brother in a hallucination like state, he acts completely submissive. His brother and

Willy barely even knew his father, and therefore this grand legend and hero of a man he claims
to be his father, may be more a creation of his mind than memory or actuality. Fiction often makes
things out to be more grandiose than they actually are. Oftentimes, people tend to glorify what
they don t know about or have not experienced in person. Precisely, one example of someone
romanticizing what they do not understand is the character Robert Cohn from The Sun Also
Rises. Specifically, at the beginning of the story, pages 2 to 3, Robert Cohn romanticizes South
America. Like how Willy does not know his father outside of the stories he s heard from his
brother, Robert Cohn knows nothing about South America aside from what he read in The Purple
Land . Neither of them knows many specific facts, with Robert unknowing of where, IN South
America, he desires to travel specifically, and Willy struggling to remember what instrument it was
that his father actually played in the few memories he has. This vagueness in understanding enables
both of these characters to further romanticize said places or people. All Willy sees is potential
perfection; however, in actuality, he scarcely knew the man.

This cry was repeated in honor of the shattering loss of the Alamo for Texas independence. The
Alamo was an emblem of leadership and sacrifice displayed in a stand of fearlessness. Though
under provisioned in all areas in men, in food, in arms, and especially in protection the men
standing in defense of the Alamo resolved to give their all and sacrifice their lives to secure
Texas independence. Despite their courage, bravery, and greatest efforts, the Alamo was a
demoralizing loss to both Texas and to the nation. In retaliation to this crushing overthrow, and
the loss in valor, Sam Houston and his army took revenge for the souls slain and the lives given
in defense of the Alamo in the following battle of the Runaway Scrape. Though outnumbered by
Santa Ana s army almost 6 1, Sam Houston and 800 men, each filled with reprisal, swept through
the Mexican army and slayed almost the entire force in a matter of nearly 18 minutes. Though
vengeance was taken and independence secured, nothing would fill the void of the souls lost in the

The Articles Of Confederation With The New Constitution Of...
Early colonists needed to have a written document that recognized the purposes and roles of their
national government. This need arose soon after they declared their independence from Great
Britain. Because of their experience, they feared strong national governments but needed a
constitution to bind their states together protect them from future assaults and to strengthen their
economy by trading with each other and other nations. The document that was adopted by the
continental congress was the Article of confederation. But because of its weakness, the colonists
needed a stronger federal government which forced them to adopt the new Constitution. (Keene,
Cornell, O Donnell, 2011). Compare and contrast the Articles of Confederation with the New
Constitution of 1787 Among many things to compare and contrast them, few of them are

The Significance of Death and Sex to William Shakespeare
The Significance of Death and Sex to William Shakespeare
In this essay, I will consider Death and Sin in Shakespearean drama and I would like to look at
three of Shakespeare s tragic plays: Hamlet , Othello and King Lear .
Shakespeare uses many themes in all his play that attract audiences throughout history. The things
he wrote about are as relevant now as they were in his time. Death and Sin were issues that are
always around. In his plays, Shakespeare could comment on these things and make audiences see
things that they could not before.
In Hamlet, we can see clear examples of Death and Sin as significant to Shakespearean drama.
The first thing that points to both death and sin is the inclusion of a ghost in the play. ... Show more

In the Ten Commandments, written for the Christian faith, there are some elements that must be

Edward Snowden and Wikileaks
Since the beginning of modern technology people have worried about being looked upon or spied
on without their knowing. Even before the internet was invented some people worried about their
phone calls being recorded or listened in on without their knowledge. In 1997 when the internet
was common in most households this made this idea of people being spied on much easier and on
a wider scale. The first proven threat of internetsurveillancewas in 2001 when the NSA(National
Security Agency) did a Large scale warrantless surveillance (Risen Bush Lets U.S Spy ) of internet
traffic and data streams. This surveillance program was a way to gather data and prevent terrorist
attacks. However some speculated that this was not just to monitor the activities of suspected
terrorists. In 2013 when Edward Snowden released data that proved that the NSA was using their
surveillance on everyone it turned speculation into fact and fears of this were brought to the surface.
In the summer of 2013 one of the biggest leaks of classified documents was carried out by a man
named Edward Snowden (E. McAskill) . Edward Snowden worked as an sysamin (System
Administrator) for a security company that did contract work for the NSA. During his time working
at this company he released an estimated two hundred thousand classified documents. Within these
documents was evidence that the United States was performing a large scale surveillance operation
of its people (B. Denson). It is estimated that

Jen Orr Raising Our Teacher Voices Analysis
Recently, I read an article by Jen Orr called Raising Our Teacher Voices: A Call for A New
Generation of Leadership . Ms. Orr is a teacher in nearby Fairfax County who was chosen as a 2013
ASCD Emerging Leader. Consequently, she was asked to serve as a panelist at ASCD s 2014
Whole Child Symposium.
Orr, like many others, believes that a teacher leader is someone who impacts education beyond their
own classroom ; however, she is quick to point out that she believes it is more than just the work
teachers accomplish with administrators within their own schools. Orr wants the idea of teacher
leaders to encompass far more than that.
I believe this model of teacher leadership, one in which teachers are actively and meaningfully
engaged in all

A Police Officer
The bill I will be introducing from the 84th session will be HB474. This is a bill that requires
officers to wear body cameras while preforming their job with the public (Reynolds). I will be
informing you on the positive and negative sides of the bill. I will give you my opinion on this
bill and why I chose it. I will also inform you on who introduced it and a partial background.
Finally I will inform you if the bill passed and became a law or not. In recent years, there has been
a huge movement with policebrutality. There has also been a movement with Black Lives Matter.
These two groups almost always go together. The media has been a big factor in these
movements. Facebook and Twitter are key sites in showing how innocent minorities get into
trouble just by the way they look. Many followers of these movements believe that it is a type of
cultural and racial discrimination. An oath to protect is what they did. The life of a police officeris
probably one of the most dangerous jobs out there. These people are human, some have families
of their own. It is hard sometimes to see their side of the story. These people are not perfect, but
personally they need to be very close to it. Any time a police officer decides to pull the trigger
they need to understand the consequences that will come with it. The media will tend to eat it
up. Make a story and get a huge crowd in the public to hate every single police officer. It is hard to
be a Black person in the United States of

Stereotypes Of Women In The Military
military. Nevertheless, one woman soldier observed There are only three things the guys let you
be if you re a girl in the military a bitch, a ho, or a dyke. Not all military men see women soldiers
this way, but many do. The hostility is shown by undermining women s authority, denying
promotions, denigrating their work, sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape. (4) Many women
take these words and actions to heart, leaving a mark on them forever, even causing post
traumatic stress disorder from events like this in the work place on top of the post tarmac stress

Social Policy and Drug Research
by Daniel Patrick Moynihan
The major idea that the author discussed in this article was how current social policy is aimed at
decreasing the use of illegal substances? The question progresses whether research efforts must
stick to this policy in order to be considered ethical. If research is to be judged in fair terms, what
effect does this have on the selection of research projects to be funded, how the research is done?
and how the findings are treated by the public, as represented by both professionals and the media?
All these questions need to be taken into considerations while looking at this current social policy.
The author presented to us that we have to understand what is causing this ... Show more content on

One general idea he put out there to the public was Drug use and abuse represents simply one more
instance of the impact of technology on society . The author supported his statement by saying
how this is the central experience of modern society. At one or two removes, most of the ills we
suffer are the consequences of technology. That is to say, the bad results that accompany the good
ones good results which led to the adoption of the technology in the first place.
To date, there are five large and important areas of research that have been either neglected: (1) the
sequence of drugs used and the development of different drug using patterns; (2) the individual,
group, and cultural factors influencing low risk and high risk outcomes among equivalent drug
users; (3) the changing attitudes of both users and nonusers toward psychoactive drug use; (4) the
impact of the media on drug use and drug choice; and (5) the process of socialization as it applies
to patterns of drug use (http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/zinberg7.htm). I feel that we should
also focus on studies: how drugs influence individual health and behavior, what use is being made
of drug research, and how its findings influence public policy decisions.
I hope that this drug research will stimulate other investigators/researchers to accept long term,
studies of psychoactive drug using behavior as a

  • 3. Examples Of First Impression In Beowulf It takes one tenth of a second to make a first impression. There is evolutionary basis behind this split second decision, because it was once important to know in an instant whether or not someone is a friend or foe. Unfortunately, research has shown that a first impression is relatively stable and unlikely to change even with prolonged exposure to the person. Many aspects of an individual s appearance can weigh into a first impression and perception of a person, but the first impression weighs heavily on how we treat a person down the line, and develop both platonic and romantic relationships. The development of creating believable draws on the description of characters deals with the idea of drawing on the audience s Thin slicing . This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, after reading up on developmental psychology and the psychology of relationships it seems that women have used their looks and sexuality in order to gain power and status. Queen Elizabeth I wrote, The weight and greatness of this matter might cause in me, being a woman wanting both wit and memory , Elizabeth was known to utilize her sexuality in order to gain political favor by toying with other powerful figures. This was not something that she was forced into however she was using her wit and body in a way to manipulate those around her. This use of sexuality as power over men was seen in The Twelfth Night, he is yours, and his must needs be yours. Your servant s servant is your servant, madam. During this scene Viola is talking to Olivia about the power she holds over Duke Orsino simply because he is head over heels in love with her. The fact that Shakespeare was commenting on this power that women held over men it seems only natural to infer that this was a well known and readily utilized power of women during the time. Along with many other countries, they would have known that the situation in England was unstable and William may have thought Wales were planning an invasion. This became worrying for William because parts of his kingdom were being threatened to be taken from him which would give Malcolm more land and support against William. However, the threat of Scotland was not as substantial as some historians make it out to be. In 1072, William marched through Scotland with relative ease. Although Williams army was fearfully exposed according to Purser, the Scottish did not capitalize on this opportunity. This could be interpreted as Malcolm showing he did not want to fight against William. This point links into the treaty of Abernethy. In the same year Malcolm met William at abernethy and signed a treaty which shown that he recognised William as his superior. The most common or popular type of catadioptric telescope is the Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes (SCT) are a catadioptric design, meaning they use both lenses and mirrors. SCTs are primarily reflecting telescopes, but they use a corrector lens to eliminate aberrations that would result from the mirror design alone. In an SCT the incoming light passes through the Schmidt corrector lens (also called a corrector plate) at the front of telescope. It is reflected from a concave primary mirror at the back of the scope which focuses the light to the front of the telescope where it is reflected again by a smaller, convex secondary mirror. Finally, the light travels back through a hole in the primary mirror to the rear of the scope where an eyepiece is located for visual observing. (Starizona.com, 2015) Below is a ray diagram of a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope: (A levelphysicstutor.com, 2015) At first it seems that an SCT should have a focal length twice as long as the length of the tube, since the light travels twice the length of the tube. However, SCTs actually have focal lengths about 5 times longer than the tube length. This is due to the convex curvature of the secondary mirror. This effectively magnifies the focal length, making the scope act much longer than it is. The diagram below shows how a Cassegrain type telescope (such as an SCT) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So, 3.142 g of ammonium nitrate and 35ml of acetic acid were added into a round bottom flask and ammonium nitrate was allowed to dissolve. 0.165 g of copper (II) acetate and the benzoin were added to the round bottom flask. • 24. The Battle Of The St. Lawrence Seaway The Battle of the St. Lawrence Seaway refers to the attacks on Allied shipping in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence from 1942 through to the end of the shipping season in 1944 . German submarines, commonly called U boats, entered into these Canadian waters to hinder and delay Allied supplies from reaching Britain across the Atlantic . However, Allied convoys still made voyages to Britain and back, constantly supplying them with goods. Sailing across the middle of the Atlantic itself was considered far more dangerous than just leaving the Canadian ports. Therefore, through examining Germany s intent for entering the Gulf of the St. Lawrence, effect on Allied shipping, and subsequent response by the Allies with respect to the attacks, it can be shown that U boats entering into Canadian waters had very little impact on impeding Allied shipping. Allied shipping from North America to Britain needed to supply at least a million tonnes of goods to allow Britain to survive and fight against the Axis . Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of Britain for the duration of the Second World War, called the Battle of the Atlantic the [most] dominating factor all through the war. Never for one moment could we forget that everything happening elsewhere, on land, at sea or in the air depended ultimately on its outcome . Therefore, whoever held the upper hand in the Battle of the Atlantic held the advantage in supplies for the war. Germany decided to employ their U boats to try to delay and strike ... It is vital to assess citizen journalismand its benefits of collaboration and pluralising voices, alongside the risks of inauthenticity, biasand causing an erosion in the quality of news, in order to fully understand its impacts. The pluralisation of voices that citizen journalism offers is considered one of the many benefits. According to Melissa Wall (2015) this allows for new and important opinions and perspectives on multiple events. For example, in rural India poor internet rates and a language barrier made it nearly impossible for the majority of citizens to listen to the professional media. In order to expose more citizens in India to local events, Shubhranshu Choudhary founded CGNet, which developed into a mobile phone service, allowing for everyday citizens to report in on and listen to local events in their native language. This leads to more, albeit unprofessional, perspectives on events from residents (Chadha Steiner, 2015). The internet has been credited with having altered relationships with ... However, systematic errors affected the experiment the most. The most significant systematic error was reading off the amount of potassium manganate (VII) used in the titration from the burette. Due to the deep purple colour of the solution, it was very difficult to read the increments. For both the initial and final burette readings, readings might have been taken off the top of the meniscus, causing an overestimation of potassium manganate (VII) needed and thus, the experimental mass of FeSO4 in one tablet was larger than the manufacturer s claim of 300mg in one tablet. Additionally, the dissolving method of the iron tablets was a major systematic error. Because we were just using a glass rod to crush and stir the iron tablets and because of the limited time spent on the procedure, the iron tablets may not have been completely dissolved in the water. Hence, there would be less Fe2+ ions in the iron solution and thus, less potassium manganate (VII) would be needed to reach the end point. Some Fe2+ ions might also have been lost on the filter paper or the beaker whilst transferring the solution, thus causing less potassium manganate to reach the end point and resulting in inaccurate measurements and calculations. Willy barely even knew his father, and therefore this grand legend and hero of a man he claims to be his father, may be more a creation of his mind than memory or actuality. Precisely, one example of someone romanticizing what they do not understand is the character Robert Cohn from The Sun Also Rises. Specifically, at the beginning of the story, pages 2 to 3, Robert Cohn romanticizes South America. Like how Willy does not know his father outside of the stories he s heard from his brother, Robert Cohn knows nothing about South America aside from what he read in The Purple Land . Neither of them knows many specific facts, with Robert unknowing of where, IN South America, he desires to travel specifically, and Willy struggling to remember what instrument it was that his father actually played in the few memories he has.
