James Monroe s Beliefs During The Era Of Good Feelings
The War of 1812 was fought between the United States and Britain over British seizures of American
ships, British aid to Native American tribes, and the American desire to restore confidence in the
republican experiment. Two years after the Treaty of Ghent was signed in 1814, James Monroe was
elected as the fifth president of the United States. During his presidency, the term Era of Good
Feelings was coined. This phrase referred to the peace and prosperity of the United States between
1817 and 1824. During the Era of Good Feelings, there was an increase in nationalism and
sectionalism. These beliefs developed concurrently due to the unification of Americans through a
strong, independent economy, the spread of nationalistic literature, art, ... Show more content on

Besides authors like Washington Irving and James Fenimore Cooper who wrote books based in
America, there were also poets and distinguished individuals who spread the idea of unity. For
example, a poet named Joseph Rodman Drake wrote a poem titled The American Flag in 1819
(Document 2). His poem was a tribute to the American flag and to the principles which America was
founded on, such as freedom. The American Flag was similar to other poems and literature at that time
in that it made Americans proud of their country. Before the Era of Good Feelings, there were not
many books or poems that were about America, nonetheless about American pride and nationalism.
Drake s poem helped nationalism rise because it allowed the beliefs of pride and unity to spread
around the nation. Speech was another important method in the spread of nationalism. Stephen
Decatur was an American naval officer who helped lead a major military victory against the Barbary
Pirates. After the victory, he gave a patriotic toast that highlighted his pride for America. (Document
1) In the toast, Decatur stated that America would be right in any foreign affair, no matter the
situation. This statement in 1819 showed Decatur s unwavering loyalty and support to the United
States. Decatur s statement about the United States helped increase nationalism because it showed that

Airborne Express Case Study
Q1. How and why has the express mail industry structure evolved in recent years? How have the
changes affected small competitors?
The Express mail industry in the United States had a volume of $16 17 billion on expedited shipments
in the year 1996. In the years before shipment volumes has risen 15 20% per year. However due to
higher competition prices have fallen which resulted in a rise of only 10 15% in total revenues. As an
example of this stands the revenue and the operating margin of the biggest player that make up 45% of
the market. Federal Express revenue has more than quadrupled in the ten years prior 1996, however its
operating margin has more than halved. (Exhibit 2) The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DHL is also the specialist for services that include fast shipments to the far and hard to reach corners
of the world, with hubs situated in Nairobi and Bahrain. TNT s focus lies on international markets as
well, however focuses its efforts on Europe. Another second tier player is BAX Global who
specialized in business to business heavy cargo. Earlier BAX Global was focused on the market for
overnight letters, which resulted in large losses, till the strategy was shifted towards heavy cargo. The
company RPS does not offer overnight delivery but focuses on two day delivery and a cheap group
network with a sophisticated information technology, targeting price sensitive business customers.
Q2. How has Airborne survived, and recently prospered, in express mail industry?
In the fife years prior 1997 Airborne Express has grown faster than its two bigger rivals, giving it
about 16% of domestic express mail market share in 1997. Airborne has achieved this by a couple of
measures that allowed it to keep its costs down and guaranteed Airborne Express success in its niche.
One of the key decisions of Airborne Express was to target regularly shipping business customers and
purposely passing over residential deliveries and infrequent shippers. Ray Berry, vice president of
Field Services Administration, commented this selection of customers: Since we can t be all things to
all people, we pick our kind of customer deliberately. And it

The Woman Question By Thomas Haggard She
was the fear of racial and political decline. Barely half a century earlier, Thomas Macaulay had
declared the history of England to be emphatically the history of progress , but late Victorians living in
the wake of Darwinian evolution had lost the earlier positivism of their age. Uncertainty over the
immutability of Britain s historical identity, what historian Tim Murray has called the threat of the past
, was manifested in the Victorian obsession with ancient times and archaeology. Haggard was greatly
interested in the ruins discovered at Zimbabwe in the 1870 s.
Haggard was strongly influenced by archaeology and evolutionary theories, especially ideas about the
racialisation of historical decline prevalent during the fin de siècle. ... Show more content on

The use of the word savage to describe her makes it clear that Holly has little respect for other cultures
and feels equally justified in his imposition of Western values on the Amahagger people. Additionally,
the idea that he would always creep u once upon his knees once he began to do so demonstrates a
feeling of being dehumanized by showing respect to this savage queen, and suggests that an ascertain
of his superiority is vital to maintain not only his pride but also his humanity. In many parts of the
novel Holly compares his English home life to that in Africa. Although in many parts, he describes
Africa negatively, at this point, he is just beginning his journey, and uses such terms as great calm
ocean , gentle breeze, and shaded silver lights . Instead of a mere sight, Holly begins to explain the
landscape with the words there rises a vision . His description was romantic, and he is not afraid or
threatened. This may be because he has come from the land of wind swayed English elms , and he
understands that as an Englishman, they have already conquered this land. Africa, then, was not a
separate country, but a place owned by England, where Englishman can watch the sunset and have a

The Ecnomics of Medicare Essay
The Economics
Of Medicare
II. Introduction
Clearly, the Medicaid program is ripe for a major overhaul, a task that the federal government has thus
far been unwilling to undertake. I chose this topic because I believe that the Medicaid program can be
rescued and revitalized by leadership; otherwise, it is likely to be eroded. Medicaid is a government
sponsored program whose objective is to provide patients with health assistance upon meeting specific
criteria. Medicaid is an insurance program that is available for disadvantaged persons, including the
elderly, who cannot afford health benefits because of low incomes or other factors. This program is
subsidized by government funds and in many instances, will cover the costs of basic ... Show more

There is a widespread belief that drug company s overcharge for their medicines in order to increase
profits. Many middle class and poorer families do not have health insurance because it s too costly for
them. It s a risk not to have it though, because if a person gets sick or injured, the cost of a hospital
stay is thousands per day. One group that is most affected of the high cost of health care and medicines
are senior citizens. It s gotten to the point for many of them that they must choose between buying
medicine or food, because they only have enough money for one of them. The government needs to
pass legislation and to work closely with the health insurance and drug companies to develop a
healthcare plan that successfully addresses the needs of all Americans. This must include programs
that enable the poor and elderly to receive the necessary care needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The flaws in health care are a major priority that the government needs to reform now. Although the
government has already begun to change some of the major problems, there is a lot of work that still
needs to be done. Throughout history, both the American citizen and the American government have
often reacted to problems, crises, and social injustices by instituting reform through new laws and
practices. If America has done this before, why shouldn t we be able to do it again?

Summary Of Assimilation In American Life
Is it accurate that Caribbean immigrants lose more than they gain when becoming Americanized?
Americanization is simply the process of assimilation. Milton Gordon in his book, Assimilation in
American Life: The Role of Race, Religion, and National Origin, views the assimilation process and
its sub processes as: a matter of degree, but complete assimilation would cover seven variables:
change of cultural patterns to those of the host society; large scale entrance into cliques, clubs, and
institutions of the host society on the primary group level; large scale intermarriage; development of a
sense of peoplehood based exclusively on the host society; absence of prejudice; absence of
discrimination; and absence of value and power conflict. This

Examples Of Hermeneutical Injustice
In this paper, I would like to argue that people with medical condition the is still misunderstood and
largely undiagnosed does experience hermeneutical injustice, rather than a mere circumstantial
epistemic bad luck as categorized by Miranda Fricker (2007). The argument provided by Fricker for
differentiating hermeneutical injustice and circumstantial epistemic bad luck is invalid most of the
time. This is because those patients continually experience unequal hermeneutical participation and
background social conditions that maintained the relevant hermeneutical gap. Before presenting my
arguments, I would first examine Fricker s view on hermeneutical injustice and the poignant case of
circumstantial epistemic bad luck. Next, the unequal social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even if questions about his feelings were being asked, questions that are opposing to the doctor s
judgements are barely asked. Patients are usually hermeneutically marginalized in a way that their
views are often being excluded from epistemic consideration. This may be attributed by the difference
in social position of doctors and patients. Doctors usually hold greater social power than patients due
to their profession. The power can be exercised unconsciously to marginalize the hermeneutical
participation of the relatively powerless patient groups. In the case of diseases that are highly
infectious and fatal, the usual response is avoiding contact with those patients instead of searching and
learning more information about that disease. Hence, the medical condition remains misunderstood.
Salient negative resources are more likely to be left in the hermeneutical pool because those are the
ones which are noticeable to the dominant group. True resources that captures the patients medical
situation and experience can be ignored. Hence, there is a prejudicial exclusion from the pooling of
knowledge, which is the primary harm of hermeneutical injustice identified by Fricker. Consider the
following case: there is a disease that has similar symptoms as being physically abused, in which
bruises and bone fracture are the common and frequent symptom. Patients with such disease visited
several large hospitals, but all medical staffs conclude that the patient has been physically abused and
refuse to agree that they are symptoms of a disease or investigate further. The medical staffs have used
the usual interpretation of treating the presence of bruises and bone fracture as a physical abuse in
preference of accepting the very unlikely but true interpretation held by the patients. Those who are
living or had close contact with the patients with such disease may be accused of physically

Memory Patterns In The Hunger Games
Understanding how memory, patterns, and symbols all work together in literary works will help you to
better appreciate what you are reading. Memory helps us to link one story to another, letting us have a
better connection to characters and events, since we ve already seen characters and events that are, in
some aspects, similar. Symbols let us better understand what the real theme is; is The Lord of the Flies
really only about a bunch of stranded boys who starts to killing each other, while a pig s head
watches? No, understanding that each of the boys(and the pig s head) represent a symbol helps you get
to the message the author is trying to tell you. Patterns helps us figure out which details are important
and which are not so much important, so we re not as bogged down with every detail of a story instead
of the story itself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Turner Syndrome And The Age Of Puberty
Turner Syndrome Introduction
Turner Syndrome is a disorder that affects one in every two thousand girls. Usually girls are born with
only one X chromosomes. Some are born with an extra chromosome, or sometimes even half of one is
missing which causes Turner Syndrome.
Symptoms of Turner Syndrome Most of the girls that have Turner Syndrome are way shorter than

Diagnosing Turner Syndrome Usually the girls with TS are diagnosed around the time they are born.
Or at the time they are expected to go through their period. Usually if a baby girl has the signs of
Turner Syndrome, a doctor around the hospital will order a special blood test called a karyotype. This
test counts the number of chromosomes, this test can also identify any that are abnormally shaped or
have some missing pieces. If the blood test shows that a girl has Turner Syndrome, her doctor may
order additional test to check for problems with her kidneys, heart, hearing, and other problems that
are often associated with Turner Syndrome. Some diagnosing can be made at birth or close to birth
because of heart problems, an unusually wide neck or swelling of the hands and the feet.
2
Turner Syndrome can also be suspected in pregnancy during an ultrasound test.
Turner Syndrome during pregnancy can be confirmed by prenatal testing by sampling, or getting cells
from the baby for a chromosome analysis. If the diagnosis is confirmed prenatally, also the baby may
be under the care of a specialist pediatrician, also the baby may be under the care of a specialist
immediately after birth.
Noonan s Syndrome is associated with some of the clinical features of Turner Syndrome. Noonan s

`` Tomorrows Designs, Classics Today
Tomorrows Designs, Classics Today
In this Exhibition, I will be looking at Haute Couture Designers Giorgio Armani and Giambattista
Valli and their contemporary designs. These designers have shown a lot of passion for their work,
building their way up throughout the years and not losing the concepts of their designs being classic
and elegant today. What makes a design considered as a classic today is a garment that is one off
meaning it s just been designed to fit the customers needs, therefore the garments have to be all
handmade but also something wearable for few decades. That s why Parisian approaches fashion in
different combinations to tailoring fit to the body and drawing on the legacy of extravagance and
imagination in design to make it modern and classic at the same time.
To take an example of a classic would be Coco Chanel The Little Black Dress this garment was
indispensable in every woman s wardrobe and still is every woman need a black dress in their
wardrobe s. Haute Couture from the words Haute meaning High and couture, meaning Sewing .
Refers to high quality fashion design produced by a designer or couturier, usually for a specific client.
Traditionally associated with the Paris fashion industry and the peak designer body, La Chambre
Syndicale de la Couture. Chanel was important because she offered new fashions in less structured
fabrics like jersey, including trousers and jackets for women. Chanel real legacy was not that she

Grease Character Analysis
In the movie Grease, John Travolta portrays the character, Danny. Danny especially struggles
throughout the movie trying to figure out exactly who he is. It remains very common for teenagers to
struggle with identity while going through different stages of their lives. Identity is a self definition or
sense of who one is, where one is going, and how one fits into society. As much as Danny does not
want to see it when he is around certain individuals he acts much different than what he does around
other individuals. Furthermore, I will cover four topics on how Danny struggles with identity
throughout the movie Grease with the following topics: how Danny views himself, how Danny s
friends view him, how Sandy views him, and lastly how Danny changes throughout the movie. John
Travolta s character, Danny Zuko, sees himself as the leader of his group. When he is around his
friends he sees himself as such a badass. For example, in the beginning of the movie when Danny first
sees that Sandy is going to be going to his school, it is easy to notice that Danny is struggling to
decide how he wants to react to her being there because his friends are around. When Danny is around
Sandy, he is a completely different person than he is around his friends. For instance, in the intro of
the movie it shows how the two spent their summer together at the beach every day. Danny treated
Sandy like such a lady. These two cases show how Danny perceives himself differently around certain

But having the relentlessness attitude, he went back and sat on the steps until Sam Phillips would
listen to his song (4). Phillips must have seen the diligence Cash had because Phillips finally let him in
and listened to the song Hey, Porter . Phillips liked the song but wanted another song that had a more
sentimental tone. Cash, with his hard working spirit, went home that night to write the famously
known song: Cry, Cry, Cry (5). This was the beginning of his long career. He had the amazing
opportunity to tour with Elvis Presley around the southern states, along with other musicians (3).The
song Cry, Cry, Cry became a hit on the Billboards Top 20 at number 14. Along with that, two more
songs followed to the top 10. But then there was the sensational song, the song that everybody knows:
I Walk the Line . This song was like a surge and became number one on the Billboards Top 20 for a
remarkable 44 weeks. After this Cash s career sky rocketed. He got invited to the Grand Ole Opry in

which was located in California. Cash then took himself and his family to move closer to the

Analysis Of Lennie In Of Mice And Men
Lennie: Perfectly Performed John Malkovich s first film was Places in the Heart, which was in 1984.
Eight years later he starred in Gary Sinise and Horton Footes adaptation of John Steinbeck s novella
Of Mice and Men. The directing from Sinise and Foote, with performance of John Malkovich as
Lennie made Lennie feel as if he was ripped out of the book and became a real person. This helps the
audience connect to Lennie s character, giving the readers/ viewers more empathy by slipping into the
shoes of Lennie. The Mannerisms, speech impediments, and how the directors use lighting made
Lennie s character genuine. Lennie has distinctive mannerisms, and traits in certain situations. After
the Red Dress scene, when George and Lennie get on the Train and they are getting ready to sleep, it
is very clear that Lennie copies multiple of George s actions. This shows right away that Lennie looks
up to George and thinks of George as a leader. Throughout the movie and especially highlighted when
George and Lennie are walking to the barn, Lennie is constantly pulling his overalls up. This could
imply that he doesn t know how to tighten his pants, or in the most extreme possibility, that George
might dress Lennie. With the inclusion of this idiosyncrasy it makes Lennie s character authentic
because of his normal day problems. Next, an ample amount of the time Lennie likes to hold his left
hand hovering in his chest region, Lennie doesn t let his hand drop. This illustrates Lennie s

Why The Fries Taste Good By Michael Pollan Analysis
Pollan and McCorkle Synthesis with Schlosser Michael Pollan, writer of Eat Food: Food Defined and
Her Chee to Heart author Jill McCorkle are both aware of the unhealthy nature of processed foods, but
Pollan would scold McCorkle for succumbing to the processed food s appeal because he discredits the
category food product as actual food; there is nothing about McCorkle s relationship to food that
Pollan will agree with. These nonfiction articles take different stances on food in the twenty first
century. Pollan s approach is to warn consumers about processed foods and to guide them into a
healthier lifestyle while McCorkle describes her junk food addiction with stories that highlight the
artificial foods people are so quick to love. Eric Schlosser s Why the Fries Taste Good is the third
article connected to Pollan and McCorkle s; his writing explains why processed food is so bad but also
provides an explanation as to why it is appealing. McCorkle and Pollan will never see eye to eye when
it comes to what kind of food people should be eating. While Pollan urges consumers to stay away
from the enticing products foods at all costs, McCorkle welcomes junk food as it is an integral part of
her life. The way they shop for food is completely opposite. Pollan argues that the best place to buy

Methods of Identifying Hazards
Health and Safety in a workplace
What is a hazard?
A hazard is any way damage, harm or anything affecting health at work. Hazards can be caused by any
health effects or by organizations as property or equipment.
What is a risk?
A risk is if a person has a change that they will be harmed due to a hazard. Factors that can affect the
risk are; how much the person has been affected by the hazard and how severe the effects were.
Evaluate the Risk:
For evaluating the risk, the hazards have to be spotted first. By law you have to do everything
reasonably practicable to stop anyone in the workplace from getting an injury while using equipment.
For example when using a pillar drill a plastic transparent cover could be used to protect the ... Show

For adequate PPE employees should wear equipment they have chosen so they are more comfortable
with wearing the PPE, also must be good quality equipment because the products will last longer and
be more reliable. Employees must be trained on how to use the equipment and to explain why it s
needed, and how important the protection is. For example on a construction site a safety helmet is
needed because in case of falling objects flying overhead, added extras can be added to a safety
helmet such as goggles to protect eyes also. Also equipment such as protected boots with the steel toe
caps and penetrate resistant materials, this is good on a construction site because can stop items falling
and damaging or cutting the employees feet, also can be used with the correct sole to stop slips at
work which may cause an injury to the worker.
Risk Assessments:
The first step of any risk assessment is to evaluate the hazards, depending on what type of work there
is, there are many different hazards that needed to be taken into consideration. Also on a construction
site it may not always just be the employees getting harmed, it could be the public, contractors or
visitors. There are many risks that can happen every day and it is very unlikely to be able to get rid of
all the risks from a workplace. The risk assessment should only include what risks are major and can
cause a big problem to the workers. In any risk

Die, made in 1968, is a minimalist sculptural artwork by renowned American artist Tony Smith. Smith
had originally prototyped the sculpture in 1962, when he made a six inch cardboard model, but he did
not have Die fabricated until 1968. The final format of Die is a six foot cube of quarter inch hot rolled
steel that is held together by internal steel bracing. To have it created, Smith worked with the
Industrial Welding Company in Newark, New Jersey, which owes to its rusty, industrial external
appearance. As one of first steel sculptures, it went on to inspire much of his later work. During
exhibitions, the 500 pound steel Die sits on the floor, inviting patrons to walk around it and view it
from one or more sides at a time. As Smith explained,

How Does Metamorphic Rocks Play A Role In The Formation Of...
Although convection current in the earth layer are closely associated with the movements of the
tectonic plates they also play a role in the formation of rocks, such as the igneous and metamorphic
rocks. Igneous rocks form through the solidification of magma or lava. This can occur in two different
places, on earth surface and under earth surface. Rocks that form on earth surface are called extrusive,
rocks that form under earth s surface are intrusive plutonic rocks. A Metamorphic rock is formed when
the protolithic rock is exposed to heat and pressure. There are also two different type of metamorphic
rocks contact and regional metamorphic rocks. The process of the formation of igneous rocks begin all
the way down in the Earth s mantle. The mantle consisted of hot magma that is constantly moving due
to the convection currents. Convection is the heat transfer of liquid and gases .As the bottom of the
mantle begin to heat up, the magma rises to the top because it becomes less dense. Once it reaches the
top it cools off and becomes more dense and fall back to the bottom and the cycle of convection begin

The Correlation Between Influencing Organization Culture...
The correlation between influencing organization culture and leaderships go hand and hand.
Organizational culture refers to the beliefs and values that exist in an organization and to the beliefs of
the staff and the foreseen value of their work that will influence their work ethic. Schein (1992, 2004)
defines the culture of a group or organization as shared assumptions and beliefs about the world and
their place in it, the nature of time and space, human nature, and human relationships. (pg. 326) On the
other hand, leadership provides the vision and helps the organization move in the direction to
accomplish the best or the organization and the employees. It is important to understand the
relationship between organizational culture and leadership and how they influence each other. Yukl
states that by changing the culture of an organization, top management can indirectly influence the
motivation and behavior of organization members. Research on organizational culture provides further
insight into the dynamics of transformational leadership and the processes by which a leader s
charisma may become institutionalized. (pg. 326) In the article, it talks about four ways to influence
organizational culture Programs, Systems, Structures, and Cultural Forms.
Design of management systems and programs
Criteria for rewards and personnel decisions
Design of structure and facilities
Symbols, ritual, ceremonies, and stories.

TERM PAPER OF PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT TOPIC: REWARD MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM {draw:frame} SUBMITTED TO: SUBMITTED BY: OVERVIEW: REWARD
MANAGEMENT Reward management is about the development, implementation, maintenance
communication, and evaluation of reward processes. These processes deal with the assessment of
relative job values, the design and management of pay structures, performance management, paying
for performance, competence or skill (contingent pay), the provision of employee benefits and
pensions, and management of reward procedure. Employers and mangers should pay attention to their
employees and special attention to the best employees. This is done to encourage good performers, to

The effectiveness of an organization s performance and reward management can have a major impact
not only on morale and productivity but also its ability to attract and retain staff. Many companies
have found that far from complementing the stated aims of the business, their performance and reward
systems were actually driving counter productive behavior. Motivation and Reward System
Management Employee motivation is the psychological feature that arouses an employee to behave in
a certain manner for accomplishing certain organizational goals. It is imperative for the organization
to enhance motivation level of the employees in order to bring out the best in them. The motivation
level of the sales force must be kept high in order that the sales force efficiently realizes the sales
goals. Reward system management is the framework that envisions formulation of different types of
reward systems to boost the motivation of the salespersons. *Role of Compensation and Rewards* in
Organization: Compensation and Reward system plays vital role in a business organization. Since,
among four Ms, i._e__ Men, Material, Machine and Money, _Men has been most important factor, it

Nozick Experience Machine
In The Experience Machine written by Robert Nozick who was a philosophy professor at Harvard
University. Robert Nozick argues against the hedonism of Bentham. There is a concept of a machine
where you can plug it in and you can live the experience that you desire. The machine could stimulate
your brain into thinking that it is reality and you can do anything you want, but in reality you are
floating in a tank with electrodes attached to your brain. You can also program the machine to how
long you want to be in it and if you want to get out and reprogram it to however long you want to stay
in it. The question is that would you plug it in if there was nothing to worry about in the real world?
Robert Nozick makes these arguments, if all we value is experience than we would spend our live in
an experience machine, if we are not willing to spend our life in the experience machine than
experience is not the only thing we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The experience machine made sound great, you can control whatever you want and be whoever you
want, but your own actual experience is way more important. I do agree with all three of his
statements because being in the machine is like suicide. I feel like you re just living in a constant
dream and nothing you do in their will affect your real life. Man made experience is way more
important than what a machine can ever give you because you make your own decisions and
ultimately live up to your own problems. Nothing can be always perfect and there will be flaws to the
machine. Plugging in to the machine is basically like being dead because the outside world will slowly
start to forget you and when you decide to unplug the world may of change a lot by then. It basically
like those prison people that get sentence for however long and when they return to reality, they have

Union University Art Gallery Analysis
Union University Art Gallery plays host to several different artists galleries throughout the year, for
free and open to the public. Currently on display is Hodgepodge , a collection of about ten canvases
by Brian Bundren. While Bundren has been painting and displaying his artwork for quite some time
(his first gallery was in the mid 1990s!), Hodgepodge contains paintings only from 2013 2016. All of
the artwork shows great precision and attention to detail. The colors are vibrant and rich. That is not to
say the colors were bright or cheerful (only one painting was particularly bright ), but the colors were
all pure and distinct. Most of the paintings, in my opinion, would fit under the umbrella of surrealism.
Walking into the gallery immediately starts to produce feelings of unease and perhaps feelings of
being threatened. The individual objects in the paintings are very realistic but mashed together in
unnatural ways. Only one painting, J.V. s Thunderbird , felt calm ; it did not cause me to personally
feel discomfort, even though it was not peaceful. It was a large canvas displaying an underwater scene
in bright blue. A Thunderbird was half visible along the bottom edge of the canvas. A deep sea diver
was present, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

full bloom and one bud) commonly represents love and honor, while white peonies (there is one at the

withdrew from all social life and had gone into a state of seclusion. Her activities concluded of
household tasks and writing poems, which are now famous. A variety of subjects were written by
Dickinson, including nature, love, death, and immorality. In her poem, Because I could not stop for
Death, the theme of death is being described differently than it usually is through poetic devices such
as irony, symbolism, imagery, and word choice. In addition to Dickinson s imagery of death, her
poetry showcases a tone that readers convey she has accepted death and was not fearful that one day
would consume her.

In the first stanza, I died for Beauty , (1) is a juxtaposition between death and beauty. The poem begins
very dark with death, however, the concept of Beauty contrasts it with its association of light. The
quote also includes syntax, where the dashes add a pause making the speaker sound unsure if dying
for beauty was a wise thing to do. In the third stanza a simile is being utilized, And so, as Kinsmen,
met a Night (9). With the word Kinsmen capitalized, this is suggesting both speakers now have the
same background and fate and both have died for an invalid reason, and both will undergo the same
affliction, death. In the simile Dickinson emphasizes that no matter what an individual accomplishes

The Dixie Chicks released the song Goodbye Earl in 2000 on their album Fly. The song is structured
to follow what is known in music as a story song, meaning it is narrated in the third person. The story
involves two best friends named Mary Anne and Wanda. The audience hears how they parted ways
after high school and Wanda married a man named Earl who was violent and abused her. Mary Anne
returns to Wanda when she gets hospitalized and they form a plan to kill Earl by poisoning him with
black eyed peas. After he is killed, Mary Anne and Wanda move on with their lives and open a

begins with decision to kill Earl, but real happiness is found in the friendship and partnership that is

scene, the song goes back to the original, slower tempo with only Natalie Maines on the vocals and is

possesses potential to directly affect the general public. Unfortunately there has been monumental
misconduct in clinical research that has directly affected the general population. The eradication of

Plagiarism is actually the most common type of misconduct. We also discussed the potential danger of
research misconduct along with the reasons why researchers chose to partake in research misconduct.
The reasons involved avoiding setbacks and protecting the researcher s credibility, but none of these
reasons seem to be equal to the risk of losing credibility. Scientific fraud seems to be appearing in all
fields ranging from paleontology to nanotechnology. Along with this, certain surveys show that 40
percent of researchers were aware of the misconduct (Gupta 1). There have been numerous attempts to
completely eradicate medical research misconduct but only a few techniques have been proven to be
effective. The most impressive one seems to be the changing of policy. A change of policy on research
misconduct or the introduction of an investigation committee would make it harder for researchers to
fabricate data to avoid setbacks along with making it extremely clear that consequences will be harsh.
There have been an uncountable amount of precautions recorded that were basically an attempt to end
research misconduct, and many of them proved to be effective. This has been a problem that affects a
majority of the globe including Iraq where Shirin Dijalalinia experimented quite a bit with misconduct
policies before she discovered a effective policy. In her article, A Proposed Strategy for Research

Child Labor Is A Global Concern
Introduction
Child labor is now a global concern and has attracted attention of people in various sectors of the
global economy. As a matter of fact International labor organization (ILO), the World Trade
Organization (WTO) and other international communities considers child labor completely abusive
and ruthless. It is also considered to be derived from unequal society and therefore could be said that
poverty and unequal distribution of wealth within the society makes children to go to work and in
many cases to look after their family. The International Labor Organization (ILO) estimates that there
are about 250 million economically active children worldwide. 61% of these workers are in Asia,
which equals to approximately 153 million children. In Sub Saharan area 1 in 4 children aged between
the ages of 5 17 work, compared to 1 in 8 in Asia. Around half of the economically children are
working fulltime, and about 30 to 46 million are in very abusive and ruthless conditions or worse
forms of child labor.
What is Child Labor?
Child labor refers to any employment that deprives them from their childhood. Therefore child labor is
considered to be harmful because it is economically exploitive and is interfering with their education.
It is also very much hazardous towards their health, or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social
development. In fact child labor not only harms the child, but also increases poverty and equitable
development. It is also defined, as work

Choral Chorus Research Paper
A choral ensemble is an organized group of singers, varying in size, that perform together with an
orchestra or opera company. Choral ensembles have been around for thousands and thousands of
years. They have been around for so long that the ancient Greeks used a chorus in their live Greek
Dramas as a major part of their storytelling. Some may believe that a chorus just needs to have lovely
singers in their group and they are good, but that is not the case. In a choral ensemble, numerous
factors like teamwork, participation, attendance, and discipline can make or break a chorus and can
extremely impact their sound.
Discipline is something that is always needed to control large groups of people. In chorus, it is no

It seems like a waste of time if you learn all the songs and come to all the practices and concerts and
just mouth the words the whole time. It may seem like your voice does not matter in an enormous
choral ensemble, but if every single person in that ensemble were to have a mindset like that, no one
would be singing. Also, every voice does matter and can impact a group. If you re not confident in
your voice and that is why you re not participating, then you are robbing yourself out of good practice
time. The more you practice and sing, even if it is done poorly, the more you will improve. It is also
crucial to participate even when the ensemble is not singing. Answering a question that the teacher
asks shows that you are being attentive and are always listening to your teacher. When an instructor
asks a question that they want the choir to answer and no one answers it shows that no one is paying
attention and it is very disrespectful. Finally, and most importantly, working together as a team is
crucial for a choral ensemble to function properly. When a chorus is in harmony, they make the
best...harmonies. When there is tension and negativity surrounding an ensemble, it is heard through
their music and it does not sound good. Teamwork is the foundation of all choral ensembles. The

The Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of A Single Sign-On On...
Name: Mojeed Oyeniyi
Assignment
1. What is Single Sign On? What are the advantages and disadvantages of it
Single sign on (SSO) is a property of access control of multiple related, yet independent, software
systems. It is a strategy that allows users to sign on to a computer or network once and have their
identification and authorization credentials allow them into all computers and systems where they are
authorized. Hence, users do not need to enter multiple user IDs or passwords which invariably reduces
human error, which is a major part of system failures
Advantages of Single sign on
Increased efficiency and productivity It brings about efficient logon process as users only have to log
on once.
It provides failed logon attempt thresholds and lockouts which protects against an intruder using brute
force to obtain an authentic user ID and password combination.
It can provide for stronger passwords. With only one password to remember, users are generally
willing to use stronger passwords.
When businesses have various partners, implementing authentication and authorization can become
somewhat complicated. With Single sign on, businesses can centralize authentication management and
grant users instant access to all shared applications.
Disadvantages of Single sign on
A major disadvantage is that it constitutes a single point of failure. A compromised password lets an
intruder into all areas open to the password owner.
Static passwords provide very limited security. Two factor authentication or at least a one time
password is required for access by the user using SSO
Adding SSO to unique computers or legacy systems in the network might be difficult.
2. Why is Media Disposal important? What are the bad outcomes that can be done if not performed
Media Disposal is the destruction of data on electronic equipment being disposed, transferred or
reused. This includes all forms of electronic media such as hard drives, solid state and flash drives,
tapes and devices with built in storage. Media that is to be discarded must be sanitized in a manner
that makes access to previously stored data impossible. Degaussing and repeated overwriting are

On first impression, The Two Fridas(1939) by Frida Kahlo, is an image that appears grim and sad,

The European Frida s dress is covered in blood from a cut heart vein, and both the women s hearts are

The Birth Of Preterm Births Essay
Regardless of healthcare and medical advances, birth outcome disparities continue to exist in the
United States. In 2014, 1 out of 10 infant births were premature, correlating to over 380,000 infants
born prematurely (Health 2016). The current national average for infant births before 37 weeks is
9.6% (Services 2010). Premature birth is identified as a birth that occurs before the 37 week gestation.
During the preterm period, infants are placed at a high risk of death and developing disabilities that
may cause permanent handicap. Mothers that give birth preterm may partake in risky behaviors such
as smoking and drug usage, lack proper nutrition, and are burdened financially. Maternal education
intervention programs centered around the Health Belief Model may have a positive impact on
maternal care and prevent premature birth. Background Despite countless medical advancements and
technology, preterm births continue to plague the nation as a public health issue. Preterm births have
become a devastating issue that has caused government agencies to intervene. There are a variety of
risk factors that may contribute to a mother delivering a child preterm, such as smoking, lack of
prenatal supplements, and social disadvantages, which may cause severe stress (Räisänen S., M.
Gissler , J. Saari, M. Kramer, S. Heinonen S 2013). Any combination of these risk factors may
increase a mother s chance for delivering a child preterm. During the preterm period, infants are

  • 2. James Monroe s Beliefs During The Era Of Good Feelings The War of 1812 was fought between the United States and Britain over British seizures of American ships, British aid to Native American tribes, and the American desire to restore confidence in the republican experiment. Two years after the Treaty of Ghent was signed in 1814, James Monroe was elected as the fifth president of the United States. During his presidency, the term Era of Good Feelings was coined. This phrase referred to the peace and prosperity of the United States between 1817 and 1824. During the Era of Good Feelings, there was an increase in nationalism and sectionalism. These beliefs developed concurrently due to the unification of Americans through a strong, independent economy, the spread of nationalistic literature, art, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Besides authors like Washington Irving and James Fenimore Cooper who wrote books based in America, there were also poets and distinguished individuals who spread the idea of unity. For example, a poet named Joseph Rodman Drake wrote a poem titled The American Flag in 1819 (Document 2). His poem was a tribute to the American flag and to the principles which America was founded on, such as freedom. The American Flag was similar to other poems and literature at that time in that it made Americans proud of their country. Before the Era of Good Feelings, there were not many books or poems that were about America, nonetheless about American pride and nationalism. Drake s poem helped nationalism rise because it allowed the beliefs of pride and unity to spread around the nation. Speech was another important method in the spread of nationalism. Stephen Decatur was an American naval officer who helped lead a major military victory against the Barbary Pirates. After the victory, he gave a patriotic toast that highlighted his pride for America. (Document 1) In the toast, Decatur stated that America would be right in any foreign affair, no matter the situation. This statement in 1819 showed Decatur s unwavering loyalty and support to the United States. Decatur s statement about the United States helped increase nationalism because it showed that ... • 3. Airborne Case Study Harvard Business School Airborne Express Case Study Q1. How and why has the express mail industry structure evolved in recent years? How have the changes affected small competitors? The Express mail industry in the United States had a volume of $16 17 billion on expedited shipments in the year 1996. In the years before shipment volumes has risen 15 20% per year. However due to higher competition prices have fallen which resulted in a rise of only 10 15% in total revenues. As an example of this stands the revenue and the operating margin of the biggest player that make up 45% of the market. Federal Express revenue has more than quadrupled in the ten years prior 1996, however its operating margin has more than halved. (Exhibit 2) The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DHL is also the specialist for services that include fast shipments to the far and hard to reach corners of the world, with hubs situated in Nairobi and Bahrain. TNT s focus lies on international markets as well, however focuses its efforts on Europe. Another second tier player is BAX Global who specialized in business to business heavy cargo. Earlier BAX Global was focused on the market for overnight letters, which resulted in large losses, till the strategy was shifted towards heavy cargo. The company RPS does not offer overnight delivery but focuses on two day delivery and a cheap group network with a sophisticated information technology, targeting price sensitive business customers. Q2. How has Airborne survived, and recently prospered, in express mail industry? In the fife years prior 1997 Airborne Express has grown faster than its two bigger rivals, giving it about 16% of domestic express mail market share in 1997. Airborne has achieved this by a couple of measures that allowed it to keep its costs down and guaranteed Airborne Express success in its niche. One of the key decisions of Airborne Express was to target regularly shipping business customers and purposely passing over residential deliveries and infrequent shippers. Ray Berry, vice president of Field Services Administration, commented this selection of customers: Since we can t be all things to all people, we pick our kind of customer deliberately. And it ... • 4. The Woman Question By Thomas Haggard She was the fear of racial and political decline. Barely half a century earlier, Thomas Macaulay had declared the history of England to be emphatically the history of progress , but late Victorians living in the wake of Darwinian evolution had lost the earlier positivism of their age. Uncertainty over the immutability of Britain s historical identity, what historian Tim Murray has called the threat of the past , was manifested in the Victorian obsession with ancient times and archaeology. Haggard was greatly interested in the ruins discovered at Zimbabwe in the 1870 s. Haggard was strongly influenced by archaeology and evolutionary theories, especially ideas about the racialisation of historical decline prevalent during the fin de siècle. ... The use of the word savage to describe her makes it clear that Holly has little respect for other cultures and feels equally justified in his imposition of Western values on the Amahagger people. Additionally, the idea that he would always creep u once upon his knees once he began to do so demonstrates a feeling of being dehumanized by showing respect to this savage queen, and suggests that an ascertain of his superiority is vital to maintain not only his pride but also his humanity. In many parts of the novel Holly compares his English home life to that in Africa. Although in many parts, he describes Africa negatively, at this point, he is just beginning his journey, and uses such terms as great calm ocean , gentle breeze, and shaded silver lights . Instead of a mere sight, Holly begins to explain the landscape with the words there rises a vision . His description was romantic, and he is not afraid or threatened. This may be because he has come from the land of wind swayed English elms , and he understands that as an Englishman, they have already conquered this land. • 5. The Ecnomics of Medicare Essay The Economics Of Medicare II. Introduction Clearly, the Medicaid program is ripe for a major overhaul, a task that the federal government has thus far been unwilling to undertake. I chose this topic because I believe that the Medicaid program can be rescued and revitalized by leadership; otherwise, it is likely to be eroded. Medicaid is a government sponsored program whose objective is to provide patients with health assistance upon meeting specific criteria. Medicaid is an insurance program that is available for disadvantaged persons, including the elderly, who cannot afford health benefits because of low incomes or other factors. This program is subsidized by government funds and in many instances, will cover the costs of basic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a widespread belief that drug company s overcharge for their medicines in order to increase profits. Many middle class and poorer families do not have health insurance because it s too costly for them. It s a risk not to have it though, because if a person gets sick or injured, the cost of a hospital stay is thousands per day. One group that is most affected of the high cost of health care and medicines are senior citizens. It s gotten to the point for many of them that they must choose between buying medicine or food, because they only have enough money for one of them. The government needs to pass legislation and to work closely with the health insurance and drug companies to develop a healthcare plan that successfully addresses the needs of all Americans. This must include programs that enable the poor and elderly to receive the necessary care needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The flaws in health care are a major priority that the government needs to reform now. Although the government has already begun to change some of the major problems, there is a lot of work that still needs to be done. Throughout history, both the American citizen and the American government have often reacted to problems, crises, and social injustices by instituting reform through new laws and practices. If America has done this before, why shouldn t we be able to do it again? IV. Summary of Article #2 In the article titled, Medicare: Issues in the Political Economy, by: ... • 6. Summary Of Assimilation In American Life Is it accurate that Caribbean immigrants lose more than they gain when becoming Americanized? Americanization is simply the process of assimilation. Milton Gordon in his book, Assimilation in American Life: The Role of Race, Religion, and National Origin, views the assimilation process and its sub processes as: a matter of degree, but complete assimilation would cover seven variables: change of cultural patterns to those of the host society; large scale entrance into cliques, clubs, and institutions of the host society on the primary group level; large scale intermarriage; development of a sense of peoplehood based exclusively on the host society; absence of prejudice; absence of discrimination; and absence of value and power conflict. • 7. Examples Of Hermeneutical Injustice In this paper, I would like to argue that people with medical condition the is still misunderstood and largely undiagnosed does experience hermeneutical injustice, rather than a mere circumstantial epistemic bad luck as categorized by Miranda Fricker (2007). The argument provided by Fricker for differentiating hermeneutical injustice and circumstantial epistemic bad luck is invalid most of the time. This is because those patients continually experience unequal hermeneutical participation and background social conditions that maintained the relevant hermeneutical gap. Before presenting my arguments, I would first examine Fricker s view on hermeneutical injustice and the poignant case of circumstantial epistemic bad luck. Next, the unequal social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if questions about his feelings were being asked, questions that are opposing to the doctor s judgements are barely asked. Patients are usually hermeneutically marginalized in a way that their views are often being excluded from epistemic consideration. This may be attributed by the difference in social position of doctors and patients. Doctors usually hold greater social power than patients due to their profession. The power can be exercised unconsciously to marginalize the hermeneutical participation of the relatively powerless patient groups. In the case of diseases that are highly infectious and fatal, the usual response is avoiding contact with those patients instead of searching and learning more information about that disease. Hence, the medical condition remains misunderstood. Salient negative resources are more likely to be left in the hermeneutical pool because those are the ones which are noticeable to the dominant group. True resources that captures the patients medical situation and experience can be ignored. Hence, there is a prejudicial exclusion from the pooling of knowledge, which is the primary harm of hermeneutical injustice identified by Fricker. Consider the following case: there is a disease that has similar symptoms as being physically abused, in which bruises and bone fracture are the common and frequent symptom. Patients with such disease visited several large hospitals, but all medical staffs conclude that the patient has been physically abused and refuse to agree that they are symptoms of a disease or investigate further. The medical staffs have used the usual interpretation of treating the presence of bruises and bone fracture as a physical abuse in preference of accepting the very unlikely but true interpretation held by the patients. Those who are living or had close contact with the patients with such disease may be accused of physically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Memory Patterns In The Hunger Games Understanding how memory, patterns, and symbols all work together in literary works will help you to better appreciate what you are reading. Memory helps us to link one story to another, letting us have a better connection to characters and events, since we ve already seen characters and events that are, in some aspects, similar. Symbols let us better understand what the real theme is; is The Lord of the Flies really only about a bunch of stranded boys who starts to killing each other, while a pig s head watches? No, understanding that each of the boys(and the pig s head) represent a symbol helps you get to the message the author is trying to tell you. Patterns helps us figure out which details are important and which are not so much important, so we re not as bogged down with every detail of a story instead of the story itself ... Diagnosing Turner Syndrome Usually the girls with TS are diagnosed around the time they are born. Or at the time they are expected to go through their period. This test counts the number of chromosomes, this test can also identify any that are abnormally shaped or have some missing pieces. If the blood test shows that a girl has Turner Syndrome, her doctor may order additional test to check for problems with her kidneys, heart, hearing, and other problems that are often associated with Turner Syndrome. Some diagnosing can be made at birth or close to birth because of heart problems, an unusually wide neck or swelling of the hands and the feet. 2 Turner Syndrome can also be suspected in pregnancy during an ultrasound test. • 11. Grease Character Analysis In the movie Grease, John Travolta portrays the character, Danny. Danny especially struggles throughout the movie trying to figure out exactly who he is. It remains very common for teenagers to struggle with identity while going through different stages of their lives. Identity is a self definition or sense of who one is, where one is going, and how one fits into society. As much as Danny does not want to see it when he is around certain individuals he acts much different than what he does around other individuals. Furthermore, I will cover four topics on how Danny struggles with identity throughout the movie Grease with the following topics: how Danny views himself, how Danny s friends view him, how Sandy views him, and lastly how Danny changes throughout the movie. John Travolta s character, Danny Zuko, sees himself as the leader of his group. When he is around his friends he sees himself as such a badass. For example, in the beginning of the movie when Danny first sees that Sandy is going to be going to his school, it is easy to notice that Danny is struggling to decide how he wants to react to her being there because his friends are around. When Danny is around Sandy, he is a completely different person than he is around his friends. For instance, in the intro of the movie it shows how the two spent their summer together at the beach every day. Danny treated Sandy like such a lady. These two cases show how Danny perceives himself differently around certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eight years later he starred in Gary Sinise and Horton Footes adaptation of John Steinbeck s novella Of Mice and Men. The directing from Sinise and Foote, with performance of John Malkovich as Lennie made Lennie feel as if he was ripped out of the book and became a real person. This helps the audience connect to Lennie s character, giving the readers/ viewers more empathy by slipping into the shoes of Lennie. The Mannerisms, speech impediments, and how the directors use lighting made Lennie s character genuine. Lennie has distinctive mannerisms, and traits in certain situations. After the Red Dress scene, when George and Lennie get on the Train and they are getting ready to sleep, it is very clear that Lennie copies multiple of George s actions. This shows right away that Lennie looks up to George and thinks of George as a leader. Throughout the movie and especially highlighted when George and Lennie are walking to the barn, Lennie is constantly pulling his overalls up. This could imply that he doesn t know how to tighten his pants, or in the most extreme possibility, that George might dress Lennie. • 32. Choral Chorus Research Paper A choral ensemble is an organized group of singers, varying in size, that perform together with an orchestra or opera company. Choral ensembles have been around for thousands and thousands of years. They have been around for so long that the ancient Greeks used a chorus in their live Greek Dramas as a major part of their storytelling. Some may believe that a chorus just needs to have lovely singers in their group and they are good, but that is not the case. In a choral ensemble, numerous factors like teamwork, participation, attendance, and discipline can make or break a chorus and can extremely impact their sound. It may seem like your voice does not matter in an enormous choral ensemble, but if every single person in that ensemble were to have a mindset like that, no one would be singing. Also, every voice does matter and can impact a group. If you re not confident in your voice and that is why you re not participating, then you are robbing yourself out of good practice time. The more you practice and sing, even if it is done poorly, the more you will improve. It is also crucial to participate even when the ensemble is not singing. Answering a question that the teacher asks shows that you are being attentive and are always listening to your teacher. When an instructor asks a question that they want the choir to answer and no one answers it shows that no one is paying attention and it is very disrespectful. Finally, and most importantly, working together as a team is crucial for a choral ensemble to function properly. When a chorus is in harmony, they make the best...harmonies. • 33. The Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of A Single Sign-On On... Name: Mojeed Oyeniyi Assignment 1. What is Single Sign On? What are the advantages and disadvantages of it Single sign on (SSO) is a property of access control of multiple related, yet independent, software systems. It is a strategy that allows users to sign on to a computer or network once and have their identification and authorization credentials allow them into all computers and systems where they are authorized. Hence, users do not need to enter multiple user IDs or passwords which invariably reduces human error, which is a major part of system failures Advantages of Single sign on Increased efficiency and productivity It brings about efficient logon process as users only have to log on once. It provides failed logon attempt thresholds and lockouts which protects against an intruder using brute force to obtain an authentic user ID and password combination. It can provide for stronger passwords. With only one password to remember, users are generally willing to use stronger passwords. When businesses have various partners, implementing authentication and authorization can become somewhat complicated. With Single sign on, businesses can centralize authentication management and grant users instant access to all shared applications. Disadvantages of Single sign on A major disadvantage is that it constitutes a single point of failure. A compromised password lets an intruder into all areas open to the password owner. Static passwords provide very limited security. Two factor authentication or at least a one time password is required for access by the user using SSO Adding SSO to unique computers or legacy systems in the network might be difficult. 2. Most of which hold a negative connotation which is emphasised throughout the piece. Though the piece holds a sombre atmosphere to the piece, the artwork does not appear to have a very cold palette. • 37. The Birth Of Preterm Births Essay Regardless of healthcare and medical advances, birth outcome disparities continue to exist in the United States. In 2014, 1 out of 10 infant births were premature, correlating to over 380,000 infants born prematurely (Health 2016). The current national average for infant births before 37 weeks is 9.6% (Services 2010). Premature birth is identified as a birth that occurs before the 37 week gestation. During the preterm period, infants are placed at a high risk of death and developing disabilities that may cause permanent handicap. Mothers that give birth preterm may partake in risky behaviors such as smoking and drug usage, lack proper nutrition, and are burdened financially. Maternal education intervention programs centered around the Health Belief Model may have a positive impact on maternal care and prevent premature birth.
