Benefits Of Using Creatine And Anabolic Steroids Essay
According to Rogers Hardin (2007), a performance enhancing substance is any form of supplement or
drug that is consumed without prescription with a purpose of improving the performance in sports.
This covers the substances that are taken for gaining weight or losing weight, those used to increase
oxygen carrying capacity, to build muscle, increase strength, taken in therapeutic doses or without
therapeutic indication, and any substance to disguise discovery, or reduce the side effects of another
performance enhancing substance. The most used performance enhancing supplements are creatine
and anabolic steroids.
Creatine is a naturally occurring compound that is produced from amino acids by the kidneys and
liver. It is also found in foods such as poultry, fish and meat. Creatine monohydrate is produced
commercially for use as a supplement. There are benefits of using creatine as a performance
enhancing supplement which include; supplying energy to muscles, delay fatigue during short and
intense exercises, decrease recovery time between sessions of activities, enhancing the volume of
muscles, increase of muscle mass and neutralizing lactic acid build up. Creatine functions by
increasing the amounts of creatine phosphate in the muscles which in turn increases the rate at which
ATP can be regenerated from ADP (Marzilli, 2008). This regeneration of ATP leads to decrease in
fatigue allowing the muscle to function for a longer period. High levels of ATP decreases dependence

The Book Of Daniel Character Analysis
What makes a person a person? Some might say that we are human because we were born from our
parents having sex and creating us stemming from a unicell zygote. Others believe that a person is the
kind of entity that has the moral right to make its own life choices, to live its life without
(unprovoked) interference from others. (Illinois State University) So who is Daniel and how is he
defined as a person? Well, throughout The Book of Daniel by E.L. Doctorow, Daniel is portrayed as a
man whose rough childhood has sparked him in his adult life to victimize every single person around
him, especially his wife. It also seems that Daniel is not capable of enjoying any activity that a healthy
person would be able to, and also points towards him living a destructive and violent nature lifestyle.
According to Robert Forrey in his article Doctorow s The Book of Daniel : All in the Family. , The
Book of Daniel is about the fucking within and of the Jewish family, fucking in the literal, sexual, and
the figurative senses. (Forrey 168) Throughout the book, the narrator and Daniel display multiple
forms of sexual thoughts and actions which predominantly deal with his wife Phyllis. Daniel goes on
abusing Phyllis both mentally and physically. One of the first instances, when we picture Daniel as a
sexually violent person is when soft Phyllis from Brooklyn suffering yet another penetration and her
tormentor Daniel gently squeezing handfuls of soft ass while he probes her virtue.

Women In The 1990s
On the other hand, certain women have prospered in getting positions of power. As a matter of
example, one of the best efficacious women in German government in the 1990s is Rita Süssmuth, she
managed to be the president of the Bundestag. Moreover, in the sector of business, Birgit Breuel
assumed the control and power following the murder of Detlev Rohwedder in the year 1991 of the
agency, the influential agency charged with denationalizing and ensuring privatization of the former
East German economy . Additional powerful and noticeable German women in the mid 1990s were
like: the manager Public opinion institute o Allensbach; Elizabeth Noelle, and Marion von Dönhoff
who became the coeditor of Die Zeit. Hitherto in spite of such progress, women still had the
responsibility to go out and achieve. A time had come that the women were to scramble for the limited
opportunities with their men. German needed skills and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the women even succumbed to death due to such vice and ended up losing three things at a
go. These were the job, the life of the unborn as well as their lives. It was too bad though condition
might have forced then to do so. Reportedly, in year 1991 roughly one hundred and twenty five
thousand women aborted. Of the entire figure indicates that the one hundred and twenty five thousand
women represented the number of lives lost in a bid to get job opportunities . The situation was very
disastrous to the economy. The law on abortion continued to work in force in both the Western and the
eastern Germany even after the unification. The legislation that appeared pleasing to the women to
combat their counterparts was killing more of the females in the coming generations besides the
males. However, before late the law was

Best Practices For Managing Parent Concerns Essay
In recent years, it is now customary for professionals who work in higher education to have interesting
stories about their interactions with parents. In Lynette S. Merriman s book, Best Practices for
Managing Parent Concerns: A Mixed Methods Study of Student Affairs Practice at Doctoral Research
Institutions, she uses the 2006 national survey of student affairs professionals to discover that 93% of
respondents recorded that their interactions with parents had increased in the most recent five years of
research (105; ch. 7). Not only have higher education professionals seen increased parental
interactions with administrators, but also with students. In 2007, the organization College Parents of
America surveyed parents and found that 34% of respondents reported that they communicated with
their children either daily, or more than once a day ( National Parent Survey ). Increased parental
involvement is driving colleges and universities to examine the advantages and disadvantages of
having parents as a more significant influence on collegiate processes. The frequency and medium of
communication between parents, students, and administrators is a specific interest. Much of the
increased involvement originates from the prevalence of technology such as cell phones and e mail,
parents are able to talk to their students daily, receiving immediate updates happenings with classes,
extra curricular activities, friends, and roommates. In College Parents of America s survey, 90% of

Susan B. Anthony In The Women s Suffrage Movement
The crucial process of slavery was the biggest economic salvation in the United States for hundreds of
years. With time, many evangelical Americans began to emphasize the struggling lives of slaves in
order for them to be saved through the grace of their mighty God. In the early 1800s, the Second Great
Awakening rose to power to acknowledge the slaves and their rights as children of God. During the
Civil War (1861 1865), the Abolitionist Movement managed to abolish slavery through the 13th
Amendment on December 6, 1865. Later, Congress ratified the 14th Amendment in 1868 that granted
black people the same rights as white people in the nation. The statement, the right to vote ... to any of

In making our demand for Suffrage, we would call your attention to the fact that we represent fifteen
million people one half of the entire population of the country intelligent, virtuous, native born
American citizens; and yet stand outside the pale of political recognition.
The Constitution classes us as free people, and counts us whole persons in the basis of representation;
and yet are we governed without our consent, compelled to pay taxes without appeal, and punished for
violations of law without choice of judge or juror... (Petition for Universal Suffrage, 1865).
On January 29, 1866, this was the first petition presented in Congress out of the hundreds sent.
Anthony s and many other suffragists signatures surprised Congressmen and gave them a sense of the
power of the crusader s movement in suffrage. This petition enabled society to recognize the
commencement of the fight for women s voting rights. The Revolution was a weekly women s rights
newspaper that was published by the National Woman Suffrage Association. The association was
founded by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1869 to promote constitutional
amendments for women s rights. The newspaper was published between the dates January 8, 1868 and
February 1872. The Revolution was ran in New York City by a small staff of women who believed in

Why Negotiating For Freelancers Is Important
I started freelancing full time about 2 years ago with the misguided aspirations of living the good life .
You know, sauntering into coffee shops all lackadaisical like dropping beautiful prose while collecting
the big bucks. Then reality set in as I had to find a way to pay for rent, and all of my other unsexy
responsibilities. Being a freelancers is tough in the sense that you have to up your hustler skills, but
truthfully, I can t imagine myself going back to traditional employment, ever. The freedom is like
meth (or so I m told as I ve never tried it). That said, I had to hit my head against the wall to make a
name for myself and it wasn t easy. One of the biggest skills I learned to master was the art of
negotiation, which is what I want to share with you today. The reason why negotiating for freelancers
is so important is that as you gain more skills, you have to up your pricing to reflect that. One of my
first major negotiations happened when I negotiated a $2000 assignment to $3500. It wasn t as
difficult as you might think. Know your worth Truth is, society likes to make negotiation out to be this
big soul draining addair that only a few can achieve. It isn t. Negotiating is simply a business function
that is necessary in all industry in freelancing even more so. What makes it easier is when you know
your worth. If you re the baddest marketer in your city, own it. Confidence is a huge differentiator
when it comes to upping your pay. In my case, a client was

The For A Family Child Care Center
Introduction
This is my Auntie Judelyn s house. It is located at 3113 El Paseo Alameda in Bay Farm. This is a big
house and it has a second floor. I mainly focus on the first floor to design an ECE environment. I
chose this house because it has an enormous space to transform into family child care center. This
house will be great where children can do various activities, feel comfortable and freely to explore in
certain learning centers.
Evaluation There are a lot of elements that would currently work for a family child care center. As you
walk into the house, there are three windows. There are two windows located at the living room and
these two windows are closeby to the yard, which is great. There is a natural light and it will make the
children be able to view the yard. The other window located at the cooking area, which is also good,
so that children can view the outside environment while they are cooking and eating. The floor is
made of tiles. Tile floors have the advantage of being very easy to appear clean and can be polished
well. There are three big carpets that are set up or lad in the floor, which are located in the living
room, cooking area and dining room. Carpet has the advantage where it make the floor a little softer to
sit on and for children to play or do activities. Carpet can be useful for seating areas like circle time,
blocks and many more.

those companies are now competing with Guinness, this may be affects the profits, prices and strategy

customers have the option to easily switch to their competitors such as Carlsberg who offering lower
price for the same products. As a result, the profit of Guinness may be driven. Hence, Guinness may
end up having little or no power in its own industry if there is a variety of quality products are offered
in the market in direct competition with it. (Katherine Arline,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Refracting Telescopes
Refraction of light through different media
Light travels in waves through space in straight lines. In a vacuum the speed of light is 3x10⁸m/s,
when light travels through different substances called mediums, it will change speed depending on the
optical density. If light travels through a medium at a right angle, it s velocity will change but not the
direction. However if light enters the medium at an angle, it s direction and speed will change.
The index of refraction is the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in the
medium: n = c / v n = the medium c = the speed of light in a vacuum v = speed of light in a medium
(The index of refraction does not use any units)
For example, the refractive index of air is 1 and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Refracting telescopes are more reliable because they are permanently fixed which in turn makes the
images produced steadier and clearer
Disadvantages of Refracting telescopes
There are many disadvantages when using refracting telescopes. One of which is chromatic aberration.
Chromatic Aberration happens when light travel through the glass lens and the different colours that
make up white light refract at different angles. This causes the observer to see a rainbow around the
image they are viewing.
One way to counteract the effects of chromatic aberration is to use multiple compensating lenses.
Another way to avoid chromatic aberration is to use a long object focal length this is the distance
between the focus and the objective
Another disadvantage is the difficulty of making the lenses. The objective lens need to have no
imperfections and the shape of the lens is thicker in the center and thunder on the edges which are the
only support_ hoch manes the lens v ey fragile on the edges and are more susceptible to damage
the largest objective lens for a refracting telescope is only 1 meter in

Respect and Accomplishment for African Americans Essay
The time span between 1954 and 2010 tells a story for African Americans. The timespan tells a story
of perseverance and accomplishments. African American like Malcom X, Stokey Carmichael, and
even Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had different views on ways to gain respect for the generations that
followed behind them. Even though they had different views on how to gain respect from whites; they
shared the same desires. Their similar desires were to lead blacks to higher positions, better life styles,
and to gain respect. Lack of respect was one aspect of life that every African American had to deal

A variety of restrictions were put on African Americans to discourage or keep blacks from voting.
Restrictions were put on blacks such as poll taxes, grandfather clause, and even literacy test. In 1967
Malcom X s speech Ballot or Bullet was given as a wakeup call to African Americans. I think you ll
have to agree that we re going to be forced either to use the ballot or the bullet. It s one or the other in
1964. It isn t that time is running out time has run out! (Ballot or Bullet 1964). This speech was to let
African Americans see that voting was their right, and if whites were going to fight to keep their rights
away from them than blacks would have to fight back. The Ballot or Bullet speech showed blacks than
whites were not going to give them what was rightfully theirs. African Americans from 1964 to 2010
had to fight for respect in politics and their hard work was finally recognized nationally when Obama
was elected as president. Then entertainment industry was definitely a struggle for respect for African
Americans. Looking back at the roles of dumb buffoons and servants that blacks were casted for; it
was apparent they were looked as inferior in talent. African Americans such as Sugar Hill Gang,
James Brown, and Living Colour used their talents and meaningful lyrics to gain respect and
recognition. Sugar Hill Gang used their song Rappers Delight as a declaration that they made it and

Different Perspectives of Human Resource Departments
As I was doing my research and going through loads of articles and factsheet about Human Resource
Development, I came across these different perspectives about HRD. For example, DeS imone Harris
(1998:3) make the comment that Human Resource Development is a relatively new term, but not a
new concept . McGoldrick and Stewart (1996:1) tell us that HRD is a relatively new concept that has
yet to become fully established and accepted, either within professional practice or as a focus of
academic enquiry. The role of HR based from CIPD Personnel Standard Lead Body states: To
contribute to the short and long term success of organisations, by forming and managing the
environment in which people s individual and collective contributions are maximised . Human
Resource Department is also dependable for making human resource policies that will help an or
ganisation demonstrate, both internally and externally, that it meets requirements for diversity, eth ics
and training as well as its commitments in relation to regulation and corporate governance. For
example, the correct allowable leave of absence of an employee or other benefits, it will normally be
necessary to meet provisions within employment contracts. The establishment of an HR Policy, which
sets out obligations, standards of behavior and document disciplinary procedures, is now the standard
approach to meeting these obligations. HRD (Human Resource Development) also focuses on
different psychological needs for human

Management Of Rheumatoid Arthritis And Gout
Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Gout
Stanley Osuagwu

Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterize by symmetric polyarthritis and
joint changes including erythema, effusion and tenderness. Its course is characterize by remission and
exacerbations. Rheumatoid arthritis can affect several organ, but usually involve synovial tissue
changes in the freely movable joints like the wrist, the PIP joint, the metacarpophalangeal joints. This
article provide a comprehensive review of the etiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology, clinical
presentation, pharmacological therapy and the nursing implication.
Introduction
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic systemic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most evidence today support the concept that the pathology of rheumatoid arthritis has its bases in an
inflammatory response involving the immune system. Other theory of causation include genetic
factors, infectious agents and an antigen antibody response. It is unlikely that a single factor is
responsible for all cases of rheumatoid arthritis.
Pathophysiology
The main physiologic changes associated with rheumatoid arthritis include synovial membrane
proliferation followed by erosion of the subarticular cartilage and subchondral bone. Although the
exact etiology of RA is unknown, enormous evidence points to a series of immunologic events.
Specific major histocompatibility complex (HMC) class 11 allele and human leukocyte antigen (HLA)
are seen more frequently in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The pathogenesis begins with
stimulation of B and T lymphocyte and their proliferation which leads to activation of the blood vessel
in the synovial membrane. As the synovial membrane enlarges lymphocyte and macrophages moves
toward the area to phagocytize the invading antigen.
Epidemiology
The prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis in the U.S is now estimated to be 1.29 million people or 0.6
percent of the population. This figure show a reduction from the previous estimate of 2.1 million
people. The prevalence and incidence of new cases per year appear to be decreasing since the 1960s.

The Origin Of The Word Nano
1.1 Introduction
Nanotechnology, the term derived from the Greek word nano, meaning dwarf, applies the principles of
engineering, electronics, physical and material science, and manufacturing at a molecular or
submicron level. The materials at nanoscale could be a device or a system or supramolecular
structures. Earlier Albert Franks defined it as that area of science and technology where dimensions
and tolerances are in the nano range. Nanomaterials are the most promising tool in nanotechnology
that posses very unique size dependent properties that makes them superior and indispensable in many
areas of human activity. In recent years, synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles have received
considerable attention because of their distinctive properties and potential uses in various fields like
microelectronics, photocatalysis, magnetic devices, biotechnology and biomedical fields. Various
nanoformulations have already been studied and applied as drug delivery systems with great success
and they still have greater potential for many applications like drugs, antibiotics, protein delivery,
imaging techniques, anti tumour therapy and as a carrier for Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) crossing
(Yezhelyev, 2006; Chen, 2013; Naahidi, 2013). Nanoparticles provide massive advantages regarding
drug targeting, controlled release and can be combined with diagnosis and other imaging therapy,
hence, emerge as one of the major tools in nanomedicine (Shrivastav, 2013; Jain, 2012).

Destruction Of The Neurons Responsible For Involuntary...
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also called Lou Gehrig s disease, is a
neurodegenerative motor disease that results in the destruction of the neurons responsible for
involuntary muscle movement (NINDS 2014). Patients are determined to have ALS if they have both
upper motor neuron disease and lower motor neuron disease (Gordon 2011). Many people that have
been diagnosed with ALS are seen in wheelchairs or if the person is in the early onset of ALS, using
other walking devices. This is because in 65% of patients, ALS begins with weakness in the arms,
legs, and body, therefore this results in the loss of capability to walk (Gordon 2011, A.D.A.M. 2012).
Most patients live for approximately three to five years after symptom onset and usually die when the
muscles in the chest stop working, which causes their heart and lungs to stop functioning as well
(Gordon PH 2011, A.D.A.M. 2012). This is caused by muscles weakening until atrophy and
fasciculations occur, leading to the brain being unable to control voluntary movement (NINDS).
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is classified as a motor neuron disease (NINDS).
The nervous system is made up of neurons that take in information through our senses and then
processes it to the rest of the body(IQWig 2012). After this, motor neurons send a signal from the
nerve cell in the brain, to the brain stem, down the spinal cord, and cause a reaction in the muscular
system (NINDS 2014). An example of this would be

Ducati s success was a combination of Ducati engineers passion for their work, their detailed attention
to the design process, and a well defined, developed method called the Ducati Method. The Ducati
Method helped lead to modular design via extensive use of CAD and simulation technology to
optimize the design before physically developing the components followed by intense testing to
validate the design.
Question 2: How did Ducati use data?
Processing, interpreting, and using real time data is a complex task which the Ducati engineers
employed with the help of other departments. They utilized rider feedback from the races, videos of
each race, track tests, data on race performance, and functional data acquired by on bike sensors.
Ducati used the data from the track to identify problems that could not be detected in simulation. This
type of data is excellent for measuring relative performance, evaluating structural stress loads,
drivetrain torque, and system temperatures. However, it can be greatly influenced by the driver and
environmental conditions. Data of this volume proved difficult to sift through, and additional staffers
were hired to tackle it for the 2004 season.
Question 3: What is your assessment of their approach?
We feel that Ducati s approach was ineffective due to the lack of a structured plan with clear priorities.
Ducati Corse tried to solve more problems than they were able, which seemed to result in missed

Olympe De Gouges
Olympe de Gouges
Marie Gouze was born in Montauban, France, in 1748. In this butcher s daughter s lifetime, she would
grow from a social maverick, to political renovator, to a martyr. She of was the first to emphasize
feminism and the injustice of slavery, mostly through her writing. (Woolfrey) She is an often forgotten
figure of the French Revolution.
After the death of her husband, Marie Gouze took on a new identity in an effort to avoid judgement.
She took her son to Paris with her where she would continue developing her education and diplomatic
knowledge for the next ten years. Once she began to write, she was often condemned for her flawed
French and being a female writer. In this period of time, women were often referred to as objects, and
according to society, their only purpose was to reproduce and serve men. de Gouges made it her
mission to challenge, find fault in, and untie the laces of injustice that her generation had wound
together. However, the leaders during Olympe de Gouges s time had no sympathy for women. (Cook)
As a playwright, de Gouges used her writing to address social issues around her. Along with slavery
and women s rights, she was also outspoken on subjects like marriage, divorce, freedom of speech.
Her most famous writing, and arguably (along with her favor toward the monarchy) what sent her to

including Yoshi, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Wario, and countless elements from across the popular
franchise. This Wii game is very similar to the GameCube Mario Superstar baseball games. It
emphasizes simplicity and gameplay features. Simply swing the motion remote to smack a home run
or use a pitching motion to strike out your opponent.
As with any other Wii game in the Mario series, Mario Super Sluggers can be played on either the
Nintendo Wii or Wii U and although the release date was back in 2008, this is a game that never gets
old. There are nine stadiums to work through, and most of them have small surprises and gimmicks
along the way. If you want to go through a round without any extra features, Mario Stadium is the way
to go for a regular video game simulation. The Challenge Mode allows you to play through a series of
challenges and games to unlock more characters and go through an in depth story mode with even
more stages and players to unlock. Each classic Nintendo team captain has special abilities and their
own stadium in this part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In 1925, universal male suffrage was introduced, increasing the electorate from 3.3 to 12.5 million.
Yet as the left pushed for further democratic reforms, right wing politicians pushed for legislation to
ban organisations that threatened the state by advocating wealth distribution or political change. This
resulted in 1925 s Peace Preservation Law , which massively curtailed political freedom.
As the left disintegrated, ultra nationalism began to loom large. Japanese nationalism was born at the
end of the nineteenth century. During the Meiji period, industrialisation, centralisation, mass education
and military conscription produced a shift in popular allegiances. Feudal loyalties were replaced by
loyalty to the state, personified by the Emperor.
Why did japan make an alliance with germany
The two fascist powers, both being militarist, were greatly nationalistic and had the ability to annex
other nations. Japan, being discriminated against during the Paris Peace Conference and the
Washington Conference, desired an opportunity to prove its power to the world, and the conquering
was how the nation would accomplish this task. Hitler s Germany centered, more or less, on gaining
control of foreign countries simply so that the nation could turn into a superpower and possess much
power and influence. In other words, both

The Effects of Citrus Canker and Citrus Greening on the...
For citrus growers in Florida, the future is uncertain. Two bacterial diseases, named citrus canker and
citrus greening disease, have devastated countless acres of trees across the state. For an industry that
generates about $8.9 billion a year, this is no small issue ( Citrus Greening ). The Florida Citrus
Grower s Association would like to import a landrace of orange discovered in China that is resistant to
citrus greening disease and test it in Florida to discover its effects on both citrus canker and greening.
Although there are advantages to importing a resistant form of citrus, the risks greatly outweigh the
potential benefits, and for this reason, the Association should begin to place its efforts towards the

Unfortunately, canker is not the only disease growers have to worry about. Citrus greening disease,
also commonly referred to as Huanglongbing, is a much newer disease to Florida than citrus canker.
Although the bacterium, Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, has been an issue in China since the 1900
s, it did not arrive in the US until 2005 ( Citrus Greening ). The disease is spread through its primary
vector, an insect called the Asian citrus psyllid. Symptoms, which include yellow mottling of leaves,
small, green, and misshapen fruit, and poor yields, may not appear until several years after a tree is
infected. Citrus greening is such an important issue currently because, according to the United States
Department of Agriculture, other than tree removal, there is no effective control once a tree is infected
and there is no known cure for the disease ( Citrus Greening ). To date, revenue loss caused by citrus
greening disease exceeds $3.6 billion ( Citrus Greening ). Although importing a race of orange that is
resistant to greening may be helpful, the imported plants must first make it through inspection and
quarantine. The branch of the USDA that regulates the import and export of plant materials is APHIS,
the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. Individuals who wish to import foreign plant material

Dollar General Industry and Competitive Analysis
Dollar General Industry and Competitive Analysis
INDUSTRY
The first step to understanding a company is to examine its industry. There are four main areas to
consider when analyzing an industry. These include:
• Competitors
There are several different types of stores within the discount retail industry, and for comparison s
sake, the industry is further broken into many segments. DG is in the market segment known as the
dollar store category. As a result, competitors such as Wal Mart are in the same industry but not the
same peer group. Comparisons will be made throughout this report to Wal Mart and other big firms
because they tend draw some of the same customers.
• Customers
Retail merchandise stores attract many different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not sustainable due to:
• rivals similar competitive strategies
• low barriers of entry into the market
• the absence of a differentiation strategy
When examining competitive advantage, it is also important to consider the market and take into
account the existing competition against larger firms.
Small firms often find it difficult to compete with larger firms. Though there are some disadvantages
DG will never be able to overcome due to its size, small firms have advantages over their larger
counterparts.
Advantages
• convenience
• absence of long lines
• customer service
Disadvantages
• low purchasing power
• smaller pool of resources to allocate
• less extensive market
Improving the store internally with more resourceful employees, better lighting and displays, and
more organized floor plans will start to change the image of Dollar General that the average public
holds. A more respectable store will lead to an increase in customers. Dollar General will then begin
developing a system of a more sustainable competitive advantage among the small and large firms of
the similar industry.
DG has a current competitive advantage within its industry that is maintains through a unique cost
efficient approach. This low cost structure is apparent through low inventories, low advertising costs,
and location of stores in rural areas. Though profitable in the short run, DG s current advantage is not

Green Light in The Great Gatsby Essay
The Green Light in The Great Gatsby
The image of the green light in the novel Great Gatsby, by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, is a significant symbol which reflects Gatsby s dream and other
aspects beyond Gatsby s longing. Throughout the novel Fitzgerald uses many
other images or symbols. At first, it may seem very basic, but when the
symbol is closely studied, one may see the deeper meaning found within it.
Fitzgerald uses these symbols to make a point across to the reader. He
then uses this point and converts it into a deeper meaning, into a myth
about America. The green light mentioned in the novel clearly represents
and is a prime example of this.

Therefore, one cannot affiliate Gatsby with Daisy. The
reader does know that Nick admires Gatsby for his dream which is some way
linked with the green light. The color green represents life, hope, and
youth. Gatsby s fantasy will live as long as long as he remains gazing at
the green light.
In chapter four of the novel, Nick finds out from Jordan that
Gatsby bought the house so that Daisy would be just across the bay. Nick
responds to this fact: Then it had not been merely the stars to which he
had aspired on that June night. He came alive to me, delivered suddenly
from the womb of his purposeless splendor.
Until this point, Gatsby was a puzzle. Nick, at this moment,
solves the puzzle: Gatsby s house and extravagant style of living is a
necessity to reaching and fulfilling his dream rather than a flamboyant
exhibit of wealth. The truth that Gatsby is yearning for Daisy is now
apparent. This is being symbolized by the green light at the end of the
dock.
Gatsby finally meets Daisy in Chapter five of the novel. The
symbol of the green light becomes very evident. It becomes so distinct
that Gatsby even shows Daisy the green light. He says, If it wasn t for
the mist we could see your home across the bay... You always have a green
light that burns all night at the end of your dock. Daisy is so

The Effects Of High Incarceration On The United States
A. Societal Effects From Increasing Alienated Population The vast societal effects from mass
incarceration have caused an increasingly alienated population to form in the U.S., which can be
broadly classified in the dual areas of lasting effects and impacts to the family unit. First, the lasting
effects of high incarceration rates are that they impact the rights of the convict, particularly African
Americans. For example, noted civil rights attorney Michelle Alexander posits that the long term
effects of mass incarceration operate to deny black Americans the future right to volte, the ability to
obtain public benefits, the possibility to sit on juries, and ultimately the opportunity to secure gainful
employment (Steiker, 2011), Moreover, professor Alexander argues that this mass incarceration
together with the prior Jim Crow laws and the past practice of slaery in the U.S. operate to ensure that
black Americans remain s subordinate class of citizens defined primarily by their race (Steiker, 2011).
Second, mass incarceration impacts society by aleinating the convict and his or her family in
numerous ways. For example, Professor Gottschauk argues that mass incarceration negatively impacts
the convict and the family unit in the following four areas: (1) Disturbance of free and fair elections;
(2) Loss of the promise of the American dream; (3) Forfeiture of pensions, disability benefits, and
veerans benefits; and (4) Failure to achieve future job potential in

The second Red Scare was the hysteria of communism, which was from the late 1940s to the 1950s. It
started during the start of the Cold War, which was the tension between the United States and the
Soviet Union after World War II, because the Soviet Union was Communist and the United States didn
t want Communism to spread more around the world. Americans were afraid that there would be
infiltrations spying and giving secret information about the United States atomic program to the Soviet

Don T Give Up The Fight And Susan B. Anthony Dares To Vote
The stories Don t Give Up the Fight and Susan B. Anthony Dares to Vote share a common theme
which is perseverance. In the story Don t Give Up the Fight, Ava is being bullied by the boys on the
track team, because she is the only girl. Susan in Susan B. Anthony Dares to Vote, shows perseverance
because, she had to speak up even though she would get arrested. While both of the stories share a
common theme the character s actions are very different. The story Susan B. Anthony Dares to Vote,
Susan fights for women s rights using speech. While Ava, in the story Don t Give Up the Fight, raced
one of the boys on the track team making her use physical activity to redeem herself.
In Don t Give Up the Fight perseverance is showed in most of the text. For example, Jacob a boy on
the track team said If you beat me to the tree I believe you. This is important to notice because, this
shows that Jacob thinks that Ava can t win any races. Also, the boys were making fun of her on the bus
because she was very quiet. So, the boys asked, Are you dead? Because Ava didn t answer the boys
the first time. But, what really hurt her was when she saw coach McCoy laughing when the boys said
something really mean. This is important to notice because, she was traumatized from coach McCoy ...

Essay on The True Character of Isabella in Measure for...
The True Character of Isabella in Measure for Measure
Some critics of Shakespeare s play, Measure for Measure, judge Isabella as a narrow minded but
passionate girl afflicted with an irrational terror of sex (Barton, 546), a young, immature woman
demonstrating moral absurdity and cruelty (Nicholls, 478), whose actions are scarcely defensible. A
classmate of mine asked, Why doesn t Isabella just sleep with Angelo? What s the big deal? These
statements reveal that these people have no understanding or sympathy for Isabella s position: socially,
morally or physically.
Perhaps I take the issue of Isabella s character so seriously because I played the role of Isabella in our
college s production of the play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet I found that the script does allow for an Isabella of greater richness than we usually see reflected
in print. From within, I measured her differently.
We often hear that Isabella is a rigid absolutist, particularly in her attitude toward sexual activity
outside marriage. But beginning at the beginning, I found that Isabella is a humorous, tolerant wit.
Now I imagine that those adjectives surprise you, but let me move through her first scene, taking into
account the choices our director Ronnie Larson, the other actors and I made. In Act I scene iv, I was
blocked to enter quietly, head down, and then suddenly see the Duke (disguised in his monk s habit)
who was still center stage after his soliloquy. I paused, while our Duke awkwardly and hesitantly
blessed me with the sign of the cross. I smiled and shook my head slightly, amused at his evident
bashfulness, thinking Who is this strange brother? This moment gave me a sense of calm certainty I
knew what I was doing in this convent and in a habit, even if he didn t. I passed downstage of him as
he exited, unfurled a large white cloth on the stage as a symbolic altar, and kneeled on it, beginning an
audible rosary, Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Our Lucio, entering from the audience, saw me praying and knelt down beside me for his line, Hail,
virgin, if you be.

A Research On Climate Change
Research on Climate Change
1. Weather and Climate are two completely different earth behaviors. Weather is an occurrence that
happens to the atmosphere over a short period of time. For example in Indiana it may be really warm
one day, but the next day it could snow. Climate is an occurrence to the atmosphere that happens over
a long period of time. For example it has been show that over long periods of time the earth seems to
be warming more and more each year.
2. According to my research, many scientists believe that the earth s atmosphere is warming. Some
scientists attest the growing problem of global warming to the amount of greenhouse gases and carbon
dioxide that human beings emit into the earth a year (Begley). According to a new report by the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change the earth s atmosphere, oceans, and lands are
experiencing a warming trend (Weatherwise). Many scientists agree that the earth s atmosphere is
indeed warming, however the cause of why it happening tends to be where many disagree.
3. Many scientists attribute the warming of the atmosphere to human activity. In the late 19th century,
some scientists discovered that temperatures began to rise, as a result of humans rise of emissions of
greenhouse gases (Marshall). A recent study conducted shows, that the rate at which the earth is
warming, is faster than anytime in the last 11,300 years, because of the CO2 emissions are growing
rapidly each year (Marshall). Scientists are worried that

The Model Of Columbia Sportswear Company
The regression analyzes the number of sales (the dependent variable) of Columbia Sportswear
Company in millions of dollars in the United Stated per year. INC represents the annual income per
capita in the United States in dollars. ADV equals the amount that Columbia spent on advertising in
the United States each year, and is also expressed in millions of dollars. RS is the number of retail
stores per year in the United States. STP represents the average annual stock price of COLM
(Columbia s ticker symbol in the stock market) shares in the stock market. COS equals Columbia s
annual cost of sales in the United States, in millions of dollars. We used t statistics, F statistics and R
squared to interpret the results of our regression. With twenty observations (n=20), on intercept and
five variables (k=6), the degree of freedom equals fourteen. With 99% level of confidence, t critical
t_14^0.01≈ 2.977. For two of the five independent variables t calculated t critical, implying that the
annual average stock price and the cost of sales are strongly significant in the sales of Columbia
sportswear. As a result, a one dollar ($1) increase in the average annual stock price of the company
leads to an increase of $3.37 million in sales. A one dollar ($1) increase in the cost of sales leads to an
increase of $1.44 million in the sales of the company. Also with 99% level of confidence, we can

Two Situations on How Calculus Is Used in Daily Life
There are actually two situations on how calculus is used in daily life. One of them is in term of one is
in term of concept, while the other one is in term of practicality. Concepts used of calculus usually
used in daily life of humans but rather they did not aware about it. Practicality is when the calculus is
used to solve a problem in human life but mainly not about every humans life. Concepts used of
calculus. Happen without one notice that they are actually applied it when they do some works. One
example in term of concepts is the application of limit. Limit is needed when finding the closest value
when the value of derivative of x is set to stay within the boundaries when the value is approaching
the value that have been set.[2] Simpler sentence that define limit is that limit help us to find a finite
value in a seemingly infinite journey of precision.[2] For example, you are driving a car in a nice
weather as you approaching a stop sign.[2] Slowly, you begin pressing the brake and the acceleration
of the car decreasing by time as you notice that the speedometer going down and the car is slowing as
well.[2] As closer to the stop sign, definitely you will try to adjust so your speed is falling to make
sure that you will stop at the right spot.[2] You will slowing down to a point that it is very difficult to
see if your speed is still slowing down.[2] Theoretically, you would keep approaching the stop forever

Choice E is the best answer. Cushing syndrome is a clinical syndrome associated with an excess of
glucocorticoids(GCs), due either to elevated levels of endogenous cortisol or exogenous use of
glucocorticoid medications such as prednisone, prednisolone, hydrocortisone, and betamethasone.
Common signs and symptoms include altered fat deposition (including moon facies and buffalo hump
, referring to fat deposition in the face and the upper back), weight gain, hypertension, striae, acne,
hyperglycemia, and central muscle weakness. Treatment involves cessation of glucocorticoid therapy,
though a taper is crucial, as abrupt withdrawal can lead to acute adrenal insufficiency and shock. In
non endocrine disorders, GCs are commonly given in pharmacologic (therapeutic) doses to suppress
inflammation. In endocrine disorders, however, corticosteroid doses are often given at or close to
physiologic doses (rather than in therapeutic ranges). GC associated toxicity appears to be related to
both the average dose and cumulative duration of GC use. However, for most GC related adverse

Installing A Realistic Wireless Sensor Network Setting
Abstract Hierarchical routing is a promising approach for point to point routing with very small
routing state. While there are many theoretical analyses and high level simulations demonstrating its
benefits, there has been little work to evaluate it in a realistic wireless sensor network setting. Based
on numerous proposed hierarchical routing infrastructures, we surveyed some hierarchical clustering
algorithms and briefly discussed them. Main purpose of this paper is to present some recent
hierarchical protocols and point out silent features of them. These routing protocols very much benefit

Due to limited and non rechargeable energy provision, the energy resource of sensor networks should
be managed wisely to extend the lifetime of sensors. Sensor networks have recently emerged as a
platform for several important surveillance and control applications .Each sensor has an onboard radio
that can be used to send the collected data to interested parties. One of the advantages of wireless
sensors networks (WSNs) is their ability to operate unattended in harsh environments in which
contemporary human in the loop monitoring schemes are risky, inefficient and sometimes infeasible.
Therefore, sensors are expected to be deployed randomly in the area of interest by a relatively
uncontrolled means, e.g. dropped by a helicopter, and to collectively form a network in an ad hoc
manner. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and increase the network scalability, sensor nodes
can be organized into clusters. Data collected from sensors are sent to the cluster head first, and then
forwarded to the base station. Network lifetime can be defined as the time elapsed until the first node
(or the last node) in the network depletes its energy (dies). A number of protocols have been proposed
to reduce useful energy consumption. These protocols can be classified into three classes. Protocols in
the first class control the transmission power level at each node to increase network capacity while

  • 2. Benefits Of Using Creatine And Anabolic Steroids Essay According to Rogers Hardin (2007), a performance enhancing substance is any form of supplement or drug that is consumed without prescription with a purpose of improving the performance in sports. This covers the substances that are taken for gaining weight or losing weight, those used to increase oxygen carrying capacity, to build muscle, increase strength, taken in therapeutic doses or without therapeutic indication, and any substance to disguise discovery, or reduce the side effects of another performance enhancing substance. The most used performance enhancing supplements are creatine and anabolic steroids. Creatine is a naturally occurring compound that is produced from amino acids by the kidneys and liver. It is also found in foods such as poultry, fish and meat. Creatine monohydrate is produced commercially for use as a supplement. Some might say that we are human because we were born from our parents having sex and creating us stemming from a unicell zygote. Others believe that a person is the kind of entity that has the moral right to make its own life choices, to live its life without (unprovoked) interference from others. (Illinois State University) So who is Daniel and how is he defined as a person? Well, throughout The Book of Daniel by E.L. Doctorow, Daniel is portrayed as a man whose rough childhood has sparked him in his adult life to victimize every single person around him, especially his wife. It also seems that Daniel is not capable of enjoying any activity that a healthy person would be able to, and also points towards him living a destructive and violent nature lifestyle. According to Robert Forrey in his article Doctorow s The Book of Daniel : All in the Family. , The Book of Daniel is about the fucking within and of the Jewish family, fucking in the literal, sexual, and the figurative senses. (Forrey 168) Throughout the book, the narrator and Daniel display multiple forms of sexual thoughts and actions which predominantly deal with his wife Phyllis. Daniel goes on abusing Phyllis both mentally and physically. One of the first instances, when we picture Daniel as a sexually violent person is when soft Phyllis from Brooklyn suffering yet another penetration and her tormentor Daniel gently squeezing handfuls of soft ass while he probes her virtue. ... Best Practices For Managing Parent Concerns Essay In recent years, it is now customary for professionals who work in higher education to have interesting stories about their interactions with parents. In Lynette S. Merriman s book, Best Practices for Managing Parent Concerns: A Mixed Methods Study of Student Affairs Practice at Doctoral Research Institutions, she uses the 2006 national survey of student affairs professionals to discover that 93% of respondents recorded that their interactions with parents had increased in the most recent five years of research (105; ch. 7). Not only have higher education professionals seen increased parental interactions with administrators, but also with students. In 2007, the organization College Parents of America surveyed parents and found that 34% of respondents reported that they communicated with their children either daily, or more than once a day ( National Parent Survey ). • 9. Why Negotiating For Freelancers Is Important I started freelancing full time about 2 years ago with the misguided aspirations of living the good life . You know, sauntering into coffee shops all lackadaisical like dropping beautiful prose while collecting the big bucks. Then reality set in as I had to find a way to pay for rent, and all of my other unsexy responsibilities. Being a freelancers is tough in the sense that you have to up your hustler skills, but truthfully, I can t imagine myself going back to traditional employment, ever. The freedom is like meth (or so I m told as I ve never tried it). That said, I had to hit my head against the wall to make a name for myself and it wasn t easy. One of the biggest skills I learned to master was the art of negotiation, which is what I want to share with you today. The reason why negotiating for freelancers is so important is that as you gain more skills, you have to up your pricing to reflect that. One of my first major negotiations happened when I negotiated a $2000 assignment to $3500. It wasn t as difficult as you might think. Know your worth Truth is, society likes to make negotiation out to be this big soul draining addair that only a few can achieve. It isn t. Negotiating is simply a business function that is necessary in all industry in freelancing even more so. What makes it easier is when you know your worth. I mainly focus on the first floor to design an ECE environment. I chose this house because it has an enormous space to transform into family child care center. This house will be great where children can do various activities, feel comfortable and freely to explore in certain learning centers. Evaluation There are a lot of elements that would currently work for a family child care center. As you walk into the house, there are three windows. There are two windows located at the living room and these two windows are closeby to the yard, which is great. There is a natural light and it will make the children be able to view the yard. The other window located at the cooking area, which is also good, so that children can view the outside environment while they are cooking and eating. The floor is made of tiles. Tile floors have the advantage of being very easy to appear clean and can be polished well. There are three big carpets that are set up or lad in the floor, which are located in the living room, cooking area and dining room. Carpet has the advantage where it make the floor a little softer to sit on and for children to play or do activities. Carpet can be useful for seating areas like circle time, blocks and many more. In a vacuum the speed of light is 3x10⁸m/s, when light travels through different substances called mediums, it will change speed depending on the optical density. If light travels through a medium at a right angle, it s velocity will change but not the direction. However if light enters the medium at an angle, it s direction and speed will change. The index of refraction is the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in the medium: n = c / v n = the medium c = the speed of light in a vacuum v = speed of light in a medium (The index of refraction does not use any units) For example, the refractive index of air is 1 and ... Most evidence today support the concept that the pathology of rheumatoid arthritis has its bases in an inflammatory response involving the immune system. Other theory of causation include genetic factors, infectious agents and an antigen antibody response. It is unlikely that a single factor is responsible for all cases of rheumatoid arthritis. Pathophysiology The main physiologic changes associated with rheumatoid arthritis include synovial membrane proliferation followed by erosion of the subarticular cartilage and subchondral bone. Although the exact etiology of RA is unknown, enormous evidence points to a series of immunologic events. Specific major histocompatibility complex (HMC) class 11 allele and human leukocyte antigen (HLA) are seen more frequently in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The pathogenesis begins with stimulation of B and T lymphocyte and their proliferation which leads to activation of the blood vessel in the synovial membrane. As the synovial membrane enlarges lymphocyte and macrophages moves toward the area to phagocytize the invading antigen. Epidemiology The prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis in the U.S is now estimated to be 1.29 million people or 0.6 percent of the population. The Origin Of The Word Nano 1.1 Introduction Nanotechnology, the term derived from the Greek word nano, meaning dwarf, applies the principles of engineering, electronics, physical and material science, and manufacturing at a molecular or submicron level. The materials at nanoscale could be a device or a system or supramolecular structures. Earlier Albert Franks defined it as that area of science and technology where dimensions and tolerances are in the nano range. Nanomaterials are the most promising tool in nanotechnology that posses very unique size dependent properties that makes them superior and indispensable in many areas of human activity. In recent years, synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles have received considerable attention because of their distinctive properties and potential uses in various fields like microelectronics, photocatalysis, magnetic devices, biotechnology and biomedical fields. Various nanoformulations have already been studied and applied as drug delivery systems with great success and they still have greater potential for many applications like drugs, antibiotics, protein delivery, imaging techniques, anti tumour therapy and as a carrier for Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) crossing (Yezhelyev, 2006; Chen, 2013; Naahidi, 2013). Nanoparticles provide massive advantages regarding drug targeting, controlled release and can be combined with diagnosis and other imaging therapy, hence, emerge as one of the major tools in nanomedicine (Shrivastav, 2013; Jain, 2012). 1.2 ... Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also called Lou Gehrig s disease, is a neurodegenerative motor disease that results in the destruction of the neurons responsible for involuntary muscle movement (NINDS 2014). Patients are determined to have ALS if they have both upper motor neuron disease and lower motor neuron disease (Gordon 2011). Many people that have been diagnosed with ALS are seen in wheelchairs or if the person is in the early onset of ALS, using other walking devices. This is because in 65% of patients, ALS begins with weakness in the arms, legs, and body, therefore this results in the loss of capability to walk (Gordon 2011, A.D.A.M. 2012). Most patients live for approximately three to five years after symptom onset and usually die when the muscles in the chest stop working, which causes their heart and lungs to stop functioning as well (Gordon PH 2011, A.D.A.M. 2012). This is caused by muscles weakening until atrophy and fasciculations occur, leading to the brain being unable to control voluntary movement (NINDS). Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is classified as a motor neuron disease (NINDS). The nervous system is made up of neurons that take in information through our senses and then processes it to the rest of the body(IQWig 2012). After this, motor neurons send a signal from the nerve cell in the brain, to the brain stem, down the spinal cord, and cause a reaction in the muscular system (NINDS 2014). The Ducati Method helped lead to modular design via extensive use of CAD and simulation technology to optimize the design before physically developing the components followed by intense testing to validate the design. Question 2: How did Ducati use data? Processing, interpreting, and using real time data is a complex task which the Ducati engineers employed with the help of other departments. They utilized rider feedback from the races, videos of each race, track tests, data on race performance, and functional data acquired by on bike sensors. Ducati used the data from the track to identify problems that could not be detected in simulation. This type of data is excellent for measuring relative performance, evaluating structural stress loads, drivetrain torque, and system temperatures. However, it can be greatly influenced by the driver and environmental conditions. Data of this volume proved difficult to sift through, and additional staffers were hired to tackle it for the 2004 season. Question 3: What is your assessment of their approach? Societal Effects From Increasing Alienated Population The vast societal effects from mass incarceration have caused an increasingly alienated population to form in the U.S., which can be broadly classified in the dual areas of lasting effects and impacts to the family unit. First, the lasting effects of high incarceration rates are that they impact the rights of the convict, particularly African Americans. For example, noted civil rights attorney Michelle Alexander posits that the long term effects of mass incarceration operate to deny black Americans the future right to volte, the ability to obtain public benefits, the possibility to sit on juries, and ultimately the opportunity to secure gainful employment (Steiker, 2011), Moreover, professor Alexander argues that this mass incarceration together with the prior Jim Crow laws and the past practice of slaery in the U.S. operate to ensure that black Americans remain s subordinate class of citizens defined primarily by their race (Steiker, 2011). Second, mass incarceration impacts society by aleinating the convict and his or her family in numerous ways. For example, Professor Gottschauk argues that mass incarceration negatively impacts the convict and the family unit in the following four areas: (1) Disturbance of free and fair elections; (2) Loss of the promise of the American dream; (3) Forfeiture of pensions, disability benefits, and veerans benefits; and (4) Failure to achieve future job potential in ... During the Red Scare a Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy took advantage of the paranoia and hysteria that the Americans had to advance politically by accusing employees of communist leanings. In the story Don t Give Up the Fight, Ava is being bullied by the boys on the track team, because she is the only girl. Susan in Susan B. Anthony Dares to Vote, shows perseverance because, she had to speak up even though she would get arrested. While both of the stories share a common theme the character s actions are very different. The story Susan B. Anthony Dares to Vote, Susan fights for women s rights using speech. While Ava, in the story Don t Give Up the Fight, raced one of the boys on the track team making her use physical activity to redeem herself. In Don t Give Up the Fight perseverance is showed in most of the text. For example, Jacob a boy on the track team said If you beat me to the tree I believe you. This is important to notice because, this shows that Jacob thinks that Ava can t win any races. Also, the boys were making fun of her on the bus because she was very quiet. So, the boys asked, Are you dead? Because Ava didn t answer the boys the first time. • 31. Essay on The True Character of Isabella in Measure for... The True Character of Isabella in Measure for Measure Some critics of Shakespeare s play, Measure for Measure, judge Isabella as a narrow minded but passionate girl afflicted with an irrational terror of sex (Barton, 546), a young, immature woman demonstrating moral absurdity and cruelty (Nicholls, 478), whose actions are scarcely defensible. A classmate of mine asked, Why doesn t Isabella just sleep with Angelo? What s the big deal? These statements reveal that these people have no understanding or sympathy for Isabella s position: socially, morally or physically. Perhaps I take the issue of Isabella s character so seriously because I played the role of Isabella in our college s production of the play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet I found that the script does allow for an Isabella of greater richness than we usually see reflected in print. From within, I measured her differently. We often hear that Isabella is a rigid absolutist, particularly in her attitude toward sexual activity outside marriage. But beginning at the beginning, I found that Isabella is a humorous, tolerant wit. Now I imagine that those adjectives surprise you, but let me move through her first scene, taking into account the choices our director Ronnie Larson, the other actors and I made. In Act I scene iv, I was blocked to enter quietly, head down, and then suddenly see the Duke (disguised in his monk s habit) who was still center stage after his soliloquy. I paused, while our Duke awkwardly and hesitantly blessed me with the sign of the cross. I smiled and shook my head slightly, amused at his evident bashfulness, thinking Who is this strange brother? This moment gave me a sense of calm certainty I knew what I was doing in this convent and in a habit, even if he didn t. I passed downstage of him as he exited, unfurled a large white cloth on the stage as a symbolic altar, and kneeled on it, beginning an audible rosary, Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Our Lucio, entering from the audience, saw me praying and knelt down beside me for his line, Hail, virgin, if you be. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. A Research On Climate Change Research on Climate Change 1. Weather and Climate are two completely different earth behaviors. Weather is an occurrence that happens to the atmosphere over a short period of time. For example in Indiana it may be really warm one day, but the next day it could snow. Climate is an occurrence to the atmosphere that happens over a long period of time. For example it has been show that over long periods of time the earth seems to be warming more and more each year. 2. According to my research, many scientists believe that the earth s atmosphere is warming. Some scientists attest the growing problem of global warming to the amount of greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide that human beings emit into the earth a year (Begley). According to a new report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change the earth s atmosphere, oceans, and lands are experiencing a warming trend (Weatherwise). Many scientists agree that the earth s atmosphere is indeed warming, however the cause of why it happening tends to be where many disagree. 3. Many scientists attribute the warming of the atmosphere to human activity. In the late 19th century, some scientists discovered that temperatures began to rise, as a result of humans rise of emissions of greenhouse gases (Marshall). A recent study conducted shows, that the rate at which the earth is warming, is faster than anytime in the last 11,300 years, because of the CO2 emissions are growing rapidly each year (Marshall). INC represents the annual income per capita in the United States in dollars. ADV equals the amount that Columbia spent on advertising in the United States each year, and is also expressed in millions of dollars. RS is the number of retail stores per year in the United States. STP represents the average annual stock price of COLM (Columbia s ticker symbol in the stock market) shares in the stock market. COS equals Columbia s annual cost of sales in the United States, in millions of dollars. We used t statistics, F statistics and R squared to interpret the results of our regression. With twenty observations (n=20), on intercept and five variables (k=6), the degree of freedom equals fourteen. With 99% level of confidence, t critical t_14^0.01≈ 2.977. For two of the five independent variables t calculated t critical, implying that the annual average stock price and the cost of sales are strongly significant in the sales of Columbia sportswear. As a result, a one dollar ($1) increase in the average annual stock price of the company leads to an increase of $3.37 million in sales. A one dollar ($1) increase in the cost of sales leads to an increase of $1.44 million in the sales of the company. One of them is in term of one is in term of concept, while the other one is in term of practicality. Practicality is when the calculus is used to solve a problem in human life but mainly not about every humans life. Concepts used of calculus. This was the option with the least amount of variables and proved compatible with our current system. In progressive companies, management is always interested in suggestions for improving productivity . The buddy system was his decision, partly because he wanted more accountability from the staff, but mostly because he had seen it work effectively in another workplace. This would prove to be a costly mistake. With this newly adopted concept, we were now in the market for a new phone system. The current phone system would not support the additional lines or the architecture of linking phones to enable partner monitoring. We looked at a number of different models from a number of different manufacturers including digital, IP and a hybrid of the two. We also visited a number of companies referenced by the vendor to actually see the system in operation. What we really focused on was a solid system that was easily expandable, carrying all the features we were accustomed to and the capability of linking multiple lines on a single phone. We found one particular model that broke the mold. This system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cushing syndrome is a clinical syndrome associated with an excess of glucocorticoids(GCs), due either to elevated levels of endogenous cortisol or exogenous use of glucocorticoid medications such as prednisone, prednisolone, hydrocortisone, and betamethasone. Common signs and symptoms include altered fat deposition (including moon facies and buffalo hump , referring to fat deposition in the face and the upper back), weight gain, hypertension, striae, acne, hyperglycemia, and central muscle weakness. Treatment involves cessation of glucocorticoid therapy, though a taper is crucial, as abrupt withdrawal can lead to acute adrenal insufficiency and shock. In non endocrine disorders, GCs are commonly given in pharmacologic (therapeutic) doses to suppress inflammation. In endocrine disorders, however, corticosteroid doses are often given at or close to physiologic doses (rather than in therapeutic ranges). GC associated toxicity appears to be related to both the average dose and cumulative duration of GC use. However, for most GC related adverse events, threshold dose or treatment duration has not been established. Choice A is not the best answer. While a proper diet and exercise program is ... While there are many theoretical analyses and high level simulations demonstrating its benefits, there has been little work to evaluate it in a realistic wireless sensor network setting. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to limited and non rechargeable energy provision, the energy resource of sensor networks should be managed wisely to extend the lifetime of sensors. Sensor networks have recently emerged as a platform for several important surveillance and control applications .Each sensor has an onboard radio that can be used to send the collected data to interested parties. One of the advantages of wireless sensors networks (WSNs) is their ability to operate unattended in harsh environments in which contemporary human in the loop monitoring schemes are risky, inefficient and sometimes infeasible. Therefore, sensors are expected to be deployed randomly in the area of interest by a relatively uncontrolled means, e.g. dropped by a helicopter, and to collectively form a network in an ad hoc manner. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and increase the network scalability, sensor nodes can be organized into clusters. Data collected from sensors are sent to the cluster head first, and then forwarded to the base station. Network lifetime can be defined as the time elapsed until the first node (or the last node) in the network depletes its energy (dies). A number of protocols have been proposed to reduce useful energy consumption. These protocols can be classified into three classes. Protocols in the first class control the transmission power level at each node to increase network capacity while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
