Perils Of Fear
They say there is no eternal allies or enemies, just eternal goals. When the USSR and US were under
the threat of German conquest, they decided to ally to stop Germany. This alliance ended when the
Germans was defeated in 1944, and both sides switched from allies to enemies. This goes to show you
that true alliances and enemies, aren t always easy to see at first glance. Goals can bring us together or
tear us apart. In The Lord of the Rings novels, Gollum works with Frodo and Sam, not because of
similar goals, but because they needed each other to complete their own goals. So it wasn t a surprise
when Gollum betrayed Frodo and Sam to steal the ring. This is a prime example of goals tearing
people apart. This shows that having similar goals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Indian government feared a revolution, Scarry says the right to assembly as well as India s
other fundamental rights had been suspended as of midnight, June 25, 1975. (Scarry xiii) they did this
out of fear of revolution, but this had far reaching effects, that they never foresaw. The children of
India used to walk in croq, or in lines of two, chatting and laughing together on their way to school.
Until the government made it illegal to walk in croq, by banning assemblies of citizens and they were
forced to walk in single file to school. This is an unjust thing for the government to do, and helps
illustrate that fearing something doesn t make it just. I have reviewed many points from the book
Thinking in an Emergency and believe from looking at the points on the Swiss shelter system, Indian
government and the US and other nuclear countries military strategy. That the maxim The only sound
basis of alliance is mutual fear is accurate and truthful. The line has weaknesses like ignoring moral
and social bindings, and being uncaring, as a system. But from the information I have I can say with
confidence that the only true basis of an alliance is mutual

Philip Zimbardo’S Famous Quote Was Inspired From His Stanford
Philip Zimbardo s famous quote was inspired from his Stanford prison experiment and it states The
line between good and evil is permeable and almost anyone can be induced to cross it when pressured
by situational forces . This quote summarized means that when a human is given or in the right
scenario, humans will take on one of the most savage behavior. Philip Zimbardo s experiment that
happened in 1971 was all about taking in male volunteers to a prison like setting and he had them take
roles as either prisoners or guards. A writer Shirley Jackson wrote a short story called The Lottery in
1948, the story is about a small village who has a special yearly lottery that is ancient but of

The first to become blind were put into an asylum to help contain the blindness and the ministry is
very unhelpful and this poor man along with his wife and the doctor and his wife who still has her
sight are tortured and mistreated leaving to die of hunger for days and some killed in the process of
trying to escape. Now to the examples, these people start to take in animalistic behaviors in order to
survive. They are more than willing to go to great measures in order to escape, stay alive, eat, and
receive pleasure. The first example that helps prove it is, Those two mouths searched until they found
each other, and then the inevitable happened, the pleasure of both of them... forgive me, I don t know
what came over me, in fact, we were right, how could we (Saramago 174). In this quote, the doctor s
wife has caught her husband having sexual intercourse with another woman and she isn t surprised at
all. She acknowledges that she has not been pleasurable towards her husband and she understands that
he had to find a way to exert those urges and so he betrays his wife. This man who must have been
urging for quite a while did the inevitable and although his wife accepts what has happened you can
understand how he was willing to get caught and lose his relationship. Another great example would
be where further in the book more people are put into the asylum and wards and sanctions start to
develop and so

Mucha
Alphonse Mucha, an adept designer from the Art Nouveau movement, heavily inspired my art piece
Just Breathe . Mucha is renowned for his captivating feminine style. His works from Art Nouveau
often had a central female figure encircled in intricate design. The surrounding design ranged from
nature to themes inspired from cultures such as Moravian folk art.
Similarly, my poster contains a leading woman placed in the center. She is enclosed in a circle of
blues, greens, and teals with a unique texture. A smoky design also escapes her mouth to resemble
breathing. Much like Mucha; flowers, a peacock feather, and the colors are influenced by the
movement he partook in. He also created hand drawn typography in his prints and paintings. I was
decided to try the same with the words: just breathe. Outside the circle and type, it is illuminated by a
light blue. That shade is also used to create a border around the whole ... Show more content on

I took the information I already knew and what I learned and incorporated bits into my own piece. I
then made a sketch on 11x14 bristol paper. After that, I created the lineart with micron pens. Microns
have pigment ink which made it helpful to color the woman and flowers with copic markers. The
circle was painted with watercolor while the texture was made with paper towels and a paintbrush.
Around the girl and the smoky design is a white outline. That was done with white gel pen.
Overall, my intention for this poster was to create a serene image that reminds the viewer to a take a
step back and breathe from any stress they are enduring. I was influenced by my own personal
experiences with Anxiety to create this. I easily get anxious and suffer from panic attacks. A lot of the
time, I forget to breathe because of this. With this work, I could picture it in a counselor or therapist s
office. Possibly in someone s own room to give them that

Five Guys Burgers and Fries: Ingredients for Success
Dr. Etido Apkan
BUS 508: Contemporary Business
July 22, 2012
In 1986 when the two oldest sons of Jerry and Janie Murrell decided not to attend college, they made a
decision that ultimately changed their family s lives forever. As supportive parents, the Murrell s used
the money intended for their tuition to open a hamburger take out shop in Arlington, Virginia to keep
the boys close to home and employed (Boone and Kurtz, 2012, p. 78). The restaurant was named Five
Guys and a Burger, after their family of five sons. With hard work and dedication, Five Guys has

An oligopoly is a market situation in which relatively few sellers [like Burger King, McDonald s]
compete and high start up costs form barriers to keep out new competitors [like Five Guys Burgers
and Fries] (Boone and Kurtz, 2012, p. 80). Within this competitive fast food burger industry, the main
product being offered is a hamburger.
However, one of Five Guys unique features compared to Burger King and McDonald s is to only offer
fresh, never frozen, eighty percent lean meat burgers that are made to order. Many of the traditional
fast food burger restaurants, only offer frozen patties cooked in advanced, and stored under heated
lamp until ordered by the customers. They also offer the customers seventeen free toppings for their
burgers. Additionally, they use the same kind of bun for the burgers; as well as the original baker.
Subsequently, Five Guys does not sell dehydrated French Fries unlike its competitors. Their potatoes
are slowly grown in Northern Idaho, where the weather conditions are quite favorable for growing
solid and tasty potatoes. Many of the competitors reduce their costs by purchasing potatoes from
California or Florida, where they are grown fast and are a lot cheaper. Five Guys guarantees freshness
by cutting the potatoes every morning while leaving slivers of skin on.

Lessons Learned Report On Iranian Culture
Lessons Learned Report

Abstract
This paper shows cultural differences between Iranians, Chinese and Indians in business negotiations
based on interviews with three businessmen: an American citizen who set up a general trading
company in China, an Iranian Canadian citizen who has a trading company in Iran, and an Indian
America who set up a business in India. The interview questions focused on cultural elements based
on Hofstede s research: power distance, low high context, and general business behavior in these
countries.
Lessons Learned Report
Knowledge of other cultures is one of the keys to being successful in business dealings. This paper
reports on real experiences in cross cultural business interactions from three different perspectives. I
interviewed three successful businessmen, one who worked with Iranians, one with Chinese, and one
with Indians. I interviewed them independently, and my questions covered four different elements:
cultural behavior in business negotiations, management as symbol of high power distance in the
companies, knowledge of high context or low context culture, and finally knowledge of each of
culture to have better business negotiation in future.
An Iranian Canadian Citizen
My first Interview was with an Iranian Canadian citizen, Mr. P. Danesh, who has lived in Canada for
more than 35 years and who set up a trading company in the pharmaceutical industry in

Who Is To Blame In The Cruel God Of Genesis
The Cruel God of Genesis
This essay will propose and support the thesis that God carries the blame for the expulsion of man
from the Garden of Eden and resulting downfall of mankind.
Genesis has always been the cause of heated discussions. The work itself is not all that confusing, but
rather the symbolism buried deep within the text is. The opinions of the reader often have a substantial
influence on the reader s interpretation of the text. Because the scripture has played such an important
role in the theological beliefs of so many Christians, extremely different interpretations of the text
have the potential to create distance between even the closest of friends and even worse, families. To
expect that all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gave usually implies the transfer of possession from one person to another. In all actuality, God was
merely teasing Adam and Eve with the idea of eternal paradise. God knew of the inevitable original
sin and even still he gave Adam and Eve a taste of paradise. If indeed God loved them as much as he
supposedly did, wouldn t he have saved them the torment of having to surrender a true heaven on
earth because they made one little mistake? God knew that by giving man free will he would also be
giving them the opportunity to lose everything that they held dear to them. Also, if the will bestowed
on Adam were so free, why would he have to be subject to the consequences of his actions? In all
actuality, Adam and Eve did have free will; just as long as they didn t think for themselves and only
did what God told them to do. In essence, it is very much like getting something for free, but still
having to pay the tax. In other words, God dropped the theoretical ball when he came up with his not
so free will. The final question that remains is why? Why did God bring to an end his own creations
eternal happiness?
When given just the information presented in Genesis 1 3, the motives behind God s cruel plot are not
quite so obvious. But when consideration is taken for the fact that the entire Bible is, for all logical
reasons, God s plan set in plain ordinary words. All things must come to an end, so the saying goes.
Even the world as we know it will come to an end.

The Federal Reserve System And Economic Development
The Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve System was created by Congress in 1913 and passed the Federal Reserve Act in
order to provide for a safer and more flexible banking and monetary system. According to the
changing needs of the system, its objectives have been changing throughout the history of the Fed. At
first, its original purposes were to give the country an elastic currency, provide facilities for
discounting commercial credits, and improve the supervision of the banking system under a
decentralized bank. (The Federal Reserve System, 1984, 1). Prior to its establishment (the Fed), the
supply of bank credit and money was inelastic, thus resulting in an irregular flow of credit and money,
and contributed to unstable economic development. These objectives were aspects economic policies
and national monetary. However, through time, stability and growth of the economy, high employment
levels, stability in the purchasing power of the dollar, and reasonable balance in transactions with
foreign currencies have become to be recognized as primary objectives of the governmental economic
policy.
The Fed is an independent central bank. Its decisions are not ratified by the president or any other
government institutions. However, the Fed has to report to the Congress. The book of the Federal
Reserve System (1984, 2) uses the term of independent within the government , since the Fed has to
work within the framework of the objectives of economic and financial policy

understood, to predict, facilitate and bestow good fortune upon those for whom or by whom they are
performed. A case in point is the expulsion of Hagar and her son Ishmael in Genesis 21.9 14. A repeat
of what went on between their mothers, now acted out by the children, in Genesis 16 leads to a
permanent removal of Ishmael from the homestead. Isaac becomes Abraham s only son as can be seen
in Genesis 22.12. Isaac then could be referred to as an only son because Ishmael had been chased out
of the household together with his mother and, Abraham was not in touch with them, and was not
really in a position to control and influence Ishmael s life, which was as good as there being one child
for him. He could also be an only son in the sense of the only child that Abraham happened to have

She was no rival to Sarah because Sarah was no longer there when Keturah becomes Abraham s wife.
She cannot be classified as a mistress as Hagar could have been. In Genesis 25.5 6 her children are
sent away because they are mothered by concubines . This again ensures that Isaac is the only son to
Abraham who is solely and exclusively in line to inherit the divine blessings and other promises made
to Abraham. The same chapter of Genesis will record that all of Isaac s brothers, including Ishmael,
were there to bury Abraham, their father, when he died. Were they children enough for a funeral only
but not relevant for everything else? In Genesis 35.22 26, the list of Jacob s children includes the four
sons born to him by Bilhah and Zilpah, the maidservants of Rachael and Leah, i.e., Dan and Naphtali;
and, Gad and Asher. They are not stripped of legality, legitimacy and authenticity as has been done to
the children of Keturah and Hagar before them. Hagar was a maidservant just like Bilhah and Zilpah.

How Did The Vietnam War Influence The French Indochina War
Derek Schmidt
College English
Opinion Based Research Essay
The French Indochina War Starting in late 1946, a rebellion began in French Indochina. The French
colony, only recently liberated from Japanese occupation, was eager to assert its independence from
France. However, the French, wishing to retain their colonial empire, had no wish to let this happen.
Backed by the United States who was afraid of the spread of communism in the area, France fought a
brutal war to maintain its position of power over Indochina. Ultimately, just like the Vietnam War that
succeeded it, the French Indochina War was a waste of time, money, and manpower.
French Indochina was a colony of France consisting of the modern day countries of Vietnam, Laos,
and Cambodia. The colony was created after the French occupied several important cities and the
Vietnamese were forced to sign treaties acknowledging the authority of the French over Vietnam.
After gradually establishing suzerainty over Indochina between 1858 and 1893, the French created the
first Indochinese Union to govern it (Indochina). French influence was strongest in the urban centers,
while it had little impact on the far more populous rural areas. French Indochina came under the
occupation of the Japanese during World War II, and the Japanese collaborated closely with the French
colonial administrators and Bảo Đấi, the Emperor of Vietnam and a French puppet ruler. Once the war
ended and Japan surrendered, French troops reoccupied

Religious/Puritan ideology read that all events and actions are controlled by God, which is utilised to
respond to the activities or feelings one is currently experiencing. Bradstreet s insight and knowledge
between God and personal significance allows the exchanges in the internal conflict, accepting

His area of command again included the Gallipoli area, and he was thus the Ottoman commander
against the invading allied forces during the Gallipoli landings by British, French and ANZAC forces
in April 1915. Here he made his name as a brilliant military commander, although he was extremely
wasteful of the lives of his troops, who died in large numbers in human wave attacks. Nevertheless he
was the first Ottoman military commander to defeat a western army in living memory, and became a
national hero, awarded the title Pasha (commander). During 1917 and 1918 Kemal Pasha was posted
to the Caucasus front fighting the Russian forces with some success, and then to the Hejaz, where the
Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule was in progress. He became increasingly critical of the incompetent
conduct of the war by the Sultan s government, and also of German domination of the Empire. He
resigned his command, but eventually agreed to return to command Ottoman forces in Palestine. In
October 1918 the Ottomans capitulated to the Allies, and Kemal became one of the leaders of the
party which favoured a policy of defending the Turkish speaking heartlands of the Empire, while
agreeing to withdraw from all the non Turkish territories. Turkish nationalist sentiment was aroused by
the Greek occupation of Izmir (Smyrna) in May 1919, in accordance with the Treaty of Sevres (this
Treaty was signed by the Sultan under Allied duress but never ratified by the Ottoman parliament.)

The Pros And Cons Of Commodification In Football
Football, America s sport, which is loved from high school all the way to professional level of the
game, has evolved significantly over the years to becoming as big of an entertainment spectacle as it
has as well as becoming increasingly competitive over the years that it has been in session. With the
very first football game being played between Rutgers and Princeton to Peyton Manning making a
touchdown pass that was recognized by the World Record Association in the game against the 49ers, a
spectator can tell the difference between not only skill and the technical aspects of the game, but
between the love for the game itself. It has created a very huge fan base that has in turn, created many

It has had a lot of positive effects on how it has evolved throughout the years. It has created a lot of
job opportunities for many people, as well as given chances to people to be remotely involved and

football has its positives to it, it also has its negatives. When people get too into it, they start betting on
it and start to not care about the players that are involved. This leads to the next point that players have
started to form a mentality of no pain, no gain . They play through pain and injuries, whether it be for
fans wanting their favorite teams and players to do well or that their love of the game has gone too far
to a point that they do not care how bad their damaging their bodies. The commodification overall has
had a good impact with some downsides to it. Another downside would be that some fans do not even
notice that these players are getting hurt and some do not even care just as long as the game remains
the entertaining Sunday tradition that they have taken part in since they were

The Sunflower By Simon Wiesenthal Essay
Vince Lombardi, an American football player, and a coach, once said, Leaders aren t born, they are
made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. With these words, Lombardi
highlights that people are nurtured to become a leader and a follower. For instance, Lombardi asserts
that a person is trained, whether to be a leader, or a follower, through eagerness and determination.
The book, The Sunflower, written by Simon Wiesenthal, an author and a Jewish holocaust survivor,
who focuses on one of the most controversial topics during and after World War II, forgiveness. In this
book, Weisenthal talked about a questionable case in which Karl, an SS soldier who murdered
plentiful of people, asked Weisenthal for forgiveness for all the pain he had done towards all the
people that were affected by him. When it comes to the topic of whether people are born to become
leaders or followers or is one trained by the environment, most people will readily agree that people
are conditioned to become a leader or a follower, where this agreement usually ends, however, is on
the question of, What makes a person a leader? Whereas some are convinced that people are natural
born leaders. Becoming a leader consists with a few reasons such as developed leadership skills, the
bystander apathy, and the diffusion of responsibility.

Giving Up Candy
Giving up candy for Lent may seem very easy for most people to do, but for Danny seemed like it
would be impossible to do. Lent is a religious observance that begins on the day of Ash Wednesday
and ends on Easter Sunday, or approximately six weeks. It is a season where Catholics prepare for
Easter and give up something important from themselves for forty days like Jesus did in the desert.
This story took place in 2012 as a fifth grader and lasted a couple of days before Lent to the very end
of Lent or around the months of February and March. This story is about how giving up chocolate for
Lent like Danny did or any other major goal is possible if you stay focused and motivated.

Well, Danny said nervously. It is candy. Before Lent I ate it a lot.
Well, Father Breen said. That is the point of a Lent sacrifice, Danny. You are supposed to give up
something that is very close to you. It is supposed to make you feel like how Jesus was in the desert.
Jesus also felt giving up in the desert sometimes, but he fought through it. That s what you also have
to do if you want to succeed at it.
Danny thought about what Father Breen just said. He now understood what he needed to do to his
sacrifice.
Do you know what? Danny said enthusiastically. I feel like I have what I need to do fully on my
sacrifice. Thank you for the advice.
No problem. Father said. Remember if you need any help with anything, I will be right here.

personification, and repetition.
In the famous single, Fireflies , there were many uses of similes and metaphors to show his vivid
dreams when he was young. In stanza 6, Adam Young sang Cause I feel like such an insomniac . This
is an example of simile, Adam Young is comparing himself to a person who is regularly unable to

an example of metaphor, because he is comparing two thoughts without using like or as. In stanza 7,

The Issue Of Plastic Surgery
The subject of plastic surgery in America is still a taboo since it attributes to the idea of being
unnatural and a plastic monster . Most popular surgeries in the country include eye lifts, liposuction,
and breast enlargements. Those who have gotten these procedures are likely to keep what they have
had done in order to not be shamed by others who may not support artificially changing one s
appearance. Many people may know that South Korea is known as the plastic surgery capital of the
world. Plastic surgery was once a major taboo in Korea, where those who have gotten it done would
be looked down upon on by family and friends and be ostracized by society, but now the pursuit of
perfection has made cosmetic surgery much more popular and open to the public. About one in five
women in Korea would have some kind of plastic surgery done, and many neighborhoods and subway
stations are lined with advertisements and billboards to promote clinics by showing before and after
photos (Graham, Popular Surgery Shrouded in Shame ). In my experience of living in South Korea for
a few months, I did notice that there were many cosmetic surgery advertisements in certain districts of
Seoul. In those areas, I would typically see women s faces all bandaged up from those procedures that
got done and they wouldn t care if people judged.

about slavery, moral decay, and deceptive realities (Kaplan 314). The debate of `nature versus nurture
has been one of the most intriguing scientific and cultural issues for most of the twentieth century, in
determining the behavioral aspects of human beings. The changes in environment, society, education,
political influences, family values and morals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caucasians in the southern states became the superior race and the Negroes became the inferior race,
thus the labels of Master and slave evolved. Virtually all Anthropologists, Scientists, Sociologist,
Psychologists, and scientists agree that there is no credible evidence that supports that one race is
culturally or psychologically different from any other, or that one race is superior to another. Yet
Twain, In Pudd nhead Wilson creates the character Roxy as both races, one physically and one
mentally. Though her features make her appear to white, Her complexion was very fair, with rosy
glow of vigorous health in her cheeks, her face was full of character and expression, her eyes were
brown and liquid, and she had a heavy suit of fine soft hair which was also brown (Twain 9). To all
intents and purposes Roxy was as white as anybody, but the one sixteenth of her which was black
outvoted the other fifteen parts and made her a Negro (Brand 308).
Environment can influence some personality traits, while others are genetic. The nature theory,
heredity, determines such traits as eye and hair color, due to specific genes passed down from
generation to generation. With the emergence of scientific studies of DNA, many scientists are finding
more traits can also be associated with human cell encoding, such as intelligence, personality,

Child Labor Is A Growing World Problem
Child labor is a growing world problem, more and more laws are being made and enforced. And while
laws prohibit child labor, exceptions are made, like the number of hours a child can work and how old
you have to be to work. Kids as young as seven are working 16 hours in mines. Child labor is
significant all around the world but largely in Asia, Africa, and Latin America and in parts of Europe.
Children are used in mines because they have smaller bodies to climb in shafts and small crevices,
their small nimble hands and fingers are good for sorting minerals. Forced into mines by poverty and
debt, children will spend the rest of their lives working in hazardous environments. These hazardous
conditions are hard to control because mining often takes place in temporary, remote, small scale
locations making it difficult to regulate and monitor (Lillie). Child miners risk injury, death and face
long term health problems caused by back breaking labor, exposure to dust and chemicals and, worst
of all, poisoning. Working in these mine deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their
ability to attend regular school, and hurts them mentally, physically, and socially. Poverty is the
leading reason that children are going to work at such a young age. A child s labor contribution may
be important for the household and for food, especially if few alternative opportunities exist to earning
an income. Many children of mining or farming families are obliged to work to help

Of the two, ABS is lighter, it also happens to be more durable than polycarbonate. Hard sided luggage
designed like a clamshell, double the packing volume because there are basically two sides giving
your things more space.
There are benefits and disadvantages for using hard sided luggage. They virtually protect whatever is
packed inside. If you have breakables in your bag, they are most likely to stay safe. A lot of plastic
composite luggage have zipper attached to open and close. Zippers are a little vulnerable. Some hard
sided luggage employ metallic draw bolt latch which won t give way. If you buy a set, you will see
how easily you can stack bags. The bad thing about these types of luggage is that they scuff and
scratch very easily.
Wheeling your bags around
Wheels are great, even small backpacks have wheels that come in handy when picking up your
luggage you can make sure that this is not back breaking when there are wheels. You basically have
two options in this regard: a two wheeler or a four wheeler luggage. If you want something that is easy
to maneuver then a four wheeler that can be pushed and pulled in all directions. You can navigate your

Characteristics Of Gymnastics
INTRODUCTION
Indeed, physical and fitness characteristics of elite athletes are different among various sports and
certain body types may be advantageous for championship performances (Arazi, Faraji, Mohammadi,
2011). Physical, physiological and psychological profiles have been developed by so many researchers
to describe the qualities and characteristics of elite athletes in their respective sports. Evidence
indicates that many factors as different physical, physiological and anthropometric factors might
influence the gymnast s performance (Cagnoa et al., 2009). Artistic gymnastics (AG) is a highly
skilled sport where the physiological demands of gymnasts are continually increased as international
standardization of competitive gymnastics takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new generation in Indian gymnastics is coming up with more potential and new ideas. The
description and analysis of top level athletes include the study of human size, shape, proportion,
composition, and gross motor function, which can be called anthropometry, is a reference in relating
sports performance and body structure (Bourgois et al., 2000). In fact, one of the most challenges
facing coaches and athletes is to understand the physical and physiological factors contributing to
success in competitions (Mirzaei et al., 2009). Gymnastics is a physically demanding sport requiring
well developed anaerobic qualities and the performances of most gymnasts correlate highly with their
body power, flexibility and balance (Bradshaw, 2010 and Arazi et.al, 2013). In addition, there is no
any single published information that characterizes the anthropometric and fitness profile (physical) of
Indian elite male as well as female gymnasts. Thus, in the current study, we tried to develop a profile
chart of physical characteristics which is associated with general and sports related motor ability of
high level Indian male artistic

Restless Giant Chapter Summary
Kiana Wade Book Review 6 Nov 2105 Restless Giant, a book written by James T. Patterson, provides
us with a concise and historically correct assessment of the time period of the twenty seven years
between the resignation of Richard Nixon and the election of George W. Bush. Patterson makes it a
point to provide for us the relational ties between the social, economical, cultural, political aspects of
life in America. Patterson begins his narrative by placing us in the troubled 70s. He describes the
1970s as grim, tasteless years that are best put out of mind. (p. 13) The mood of the 1970s was
described as gloomy, gaudy and depressing. The issue of race remained the nation s number one
problem. During this time there were only two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
18) Along with the many racial problems of this time period, there were educational issues, drug abuse
problems and rising crime rate. Patterson also talks about the moral decline and the younger
generation. He notes that, a number of public school seemed out of control, (p. 45) doing things such
as swearing in the classrooms and on the streets, spray painting buildings and using drugs and alcohol.
Then there was the topic of sex. It seemed to be advancing in the culture almost as rapidly as violence,
says Patterson. Their was a decline in sexual morality. The sexual themes on TV seemed to be
advancing. Patterson gives us some examples: Mary Tyler Moore Show and Charlie s Angels.
Television shows likes these reflected a sexualizing of the culture. (p.46) Patterson later talks about
the rapid rise in divorce rates and the increase of number of births happening outside of marriage.
During this time agitation for women s rights were at an all time high. Many women began to work
and speak out against sexual discrimination. All these controversies over sex and family life would
have been cause enough for concern even in sunny economic times. (p. 58) Patterson goes on to
discuss the economic problems of this period. The stagflation persisted into the 1980s. This was a
result of the structural changes in the economy. It went from a manufacturing base to a post industrial
society that depended on services. Greater

Compare And Contrast Rich Being Rich
There isn t anyone in the world who doesn t want a lot of money. However, not a lot of people know
that there is actually a fine line between being rich and wealthy. It can be a little confusing especially
if you re neither of the two. So do you want to be rich or wealthy? Let s break it down shall we. Be
inspired by wealthy people, not the rich ones, what they only have is money. Unknown RICH
PEOPLE There are actually a lot of rich people in the world. Celebrities, like Tom Hanks, Meryl
Streep, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio who earns almost a hundred million a year, athletes who
earns multi millions for every game like Lebron James, Serena Williams, Floyd Mayweather Jr. These
are the best examples of people who are extremely rich, since you would often see them wear fancy

Sleep Patterns
NEONATAL SLEEP The neonatal or special care nursery environment is one of variable but constant
movement, light and noise. Such an environment is not conducive to the entrainment of good sleep
habits. Discuss the impact this environment has on preterm infants in terms of their
neuropsychological development and sleep patterns. Consider the longer term implications, and the
measures that can be taken to minimise or overcome these. By Nidhi Introduction In this topic we will
discuss how various levels of light, noise and constant movement in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit) ward environment have impact on the neuropsychological and sleep patterns of preterm
infants. Several previous studies have contended that the levels of light and ... Show more content on

Different authors looked at different variables as well as used their own methods in reducing light,
noise and movement. Comparing all of the studies, it was difficult to find any strong patterns or
consistencies between studies apart from the inclusion of light in more than one study. It is evident
that in this field, different researchers have analysed different variables and used different methods,
which makes it challenging to fully solve this problem in preterm infants. In terms of the overall
hypothesis, there is inconclusive evidence and not enough studies done in the area about the effect, if
any, of light and noise on the neuropsychological development and sleep patterns on preterm infants.
Despite the limited number of studies on the variable of movement, all researchers agreed that
movement (tactile/kinaesthetic stimulation) had positive effects on a range of developmental outcomes
of preterm infants. Ultimately, the fact that Physicians have complained about the detrimental impact
of unacceptable high levels of these variables in the environment of the NICU ward, and nothing has
been done to change it yet paints a very bleak picture for the neonatal preterm infants of the future.
Only two studies suggested new solutions for this ongoing problem, but yet again none of these have
been tried, tested or proven in real cases. The fact that there are barely any studies done on the
variable of constant movement makes problems in this field of research even more challenging to
solve, hence the need for further interest and research on the specific variables of constant movement,
light and noise if we are going to provide and create a healthier NICU environment and future for our

Descriptive Essay On The Day In Nursing
It was an unpleasantly early morning in the hospital waiting room. Nurses buzzed around, busy
attending to their patients while a faint beeping sound could be heard in the background. I was starting
my second shift of the day at the hospital, just finishing working a shift in the dark, grimy morgue.
Groggy, I sat down at my desk to begin another four hours of labor. My position was to assure that the
paper work was properly completed and that all patients were attended too. While being a supervising
nurse was a great responsibility, it left time to day dream. In the corner of the room, an old lady was
slouched on a cracked, olive upholstered chair. A man gripped her veiny hand and softly patted her
back. She appeared to suffer from a vigorous cough, which originated deep in her chest. Delicate curls
framed her fragile face as hair was neatly swept to one side. A double string of ivory pearls swooped
around her neck, landing in the lull of her collarbone. Vintage black eyeglasses were diligently
balancing on the bridge of her crinkly nose. The wrinkles that adorned her face were indicative of
many years lived and with each cough, they furrowed. She wore a knitted rose cardigan over what
appeared to be a light blue night gown. It was evident that she had been rushed to the hospital as she
was still wearing her fucia puffy slippers. Every few seconds her diaphragm clenched, causing her
stomach to thrust out and created a high pitched wheeze. The cool exterior air rushed in

Satire In Jonathan Swift
Satire is a literary way to express the imperfections of the society. It is a technique used by writers
who tries to highlight the thought of an individual or a society about corruption, foolishness which is
usually attacked through irony, derision, or wit. Satire and irony are in close connection with each
other. The irony is a form of communication which is usually replacing the meaning spoken by other.
Therefore, the irony makes the difference between what is said and what is meant. Irony is a literary
technique synonymous with satire, in which there is an inconsistency between the literal and implied
meaning of either a situation or a statement. (Breanna Derlagen). The characteristic of the satire is to

No law in that country must exceed in words the number of letters in their alphabet, which consists
only of two and twenty... They are expressed in the plainest and simple terms, wherein those people
are not mercurial enough to discover above one interpretation: and to write a comment upon any law,
is a capital crime.
(Jonathan Swift, Gulliver s Travels)
According to these lines the laws in this world are short and easily admissible, therefore, the lawyers
and the court don t have to contend so much by the structure of the legal system. Indeed, the writer
criticizes here the legal system of England, because the laws there are long and intricately issued
which makes it difficult to understand in its own language. The third section of this book is about the
voyage to Laputa, where he meets a group of people who are completely away from the reality. He
observes that how these people with higher intellectual are behaving with their servants. Swift also

Bce During The Neo Assyrian Period
Saluting Protective Spirit dates back to 883 859 BCE during the Neo Assyrian period. Located within
the Cleveland Museum of Art, Saluting Protective Spirit appears overwhelming in size, standing
nearly 90.5 inches tall and 53.8 inches wide. The piece is entirely taken up by the depiction of the
spirit. This paper will employ close visual analysis of Saluting Protective Spirit, describing the
significance and functionality of wall reliefs and their relation to royalty within the Neo Assyrian time
period. Saluting Protective Spirit was one of many reliefs to line the walls within the palace of the
Assyrian King Ashurnasirpal II. According to the Cleveland Museum of Art this piece was once a
brightly colored wall relief made of gypsum, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spirit is dressed in a kilt covered by a lavish long body garment. The garment, which appears to
be frayed around the edges, is also inscribed with very intricate images of flowers, crisscross patterns,
and paisley prints. This spirit also has a long beard. In addition, the spirit is wearing a headdress
decorated with flowers, ear jewelry, bracelets around both wrists, and sandals. Snakeheads also are
shown wrapped around one of the spirit s triceps. One arm of the spirit is extended outward holding
what appears to be a small branch of flowers. Also illustrated are feathered like wings on the back of
the spirit. The work also gives subtle hints that the spirit has a very idealized physique. His arms and
his hands are rather large with wide, broad shoulders. With exceptional use of line his calf and forearm
muscles are very accentuated. The face of the spirit looks fierce and heroic. The piece looks as if it
were cut into sections, similar to a register look, however it comes together to create an overall
picture. Although it has gone undocumented the reason behind the sectioning of the piece, whether it
is the original context or the relocation from the palace to the museum, there are three sections, the
head and shoulders, the torso, and the legs. The overall scale of the spirit is proportionate, suggesting
the artist may have used some type of Canon of Proportion. Although this is not a common practice

Japan and The Influence of Imperialism Essay
Japan, an isolated island located in the Pacific Ocean in East Asia,
surprised the world when it first opened its doors to Western
influence in 1854. While it had a strict policy about maintaining its
isolation, it had no choice but to succumb to imperialism. When
Commodore Matthew Perry visited, Japan realized that isolation had
resulted in their inability to develop economically and militarily
with the industrialized world. Thus from 1854 to 1914, the Japanese
changed from being under the influence of imperialism to becoming an
imperialist nation, as well as coming out of feudalism and going to
into modern militarism. Despite all these changes in its economy and
military, Japan had managed to consolidate its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Japan was able to build factories and set up
private organizations more rapidly because it did not need to
experiment with or invent anything new. By 1914, Japanese imperialism
had become a threat to the United States to the point that it had to
place an embargo in order to stop it from invading neighboring
countries such as Australia. The reason why Japan changed from being
threatened by Europeans and Americans to being as threatening as they
are is because they were motivated to become a powerful nation. Their
initial decision to open up trade with the West was prompted by their
desire to posses modern technology. Their motivation was caused by the
lack of resources, to earn its reputation as a strong nation and to
avoid to be manipulated by the West. The formation of the Greater East
Asian Co Prosperity Sphere created an independent capable of
eliminating imperialism from Asia and to develop a sufficient economy
in order to compete with the Europeans. This is different from what
was occurring in another East Asian country, China. Although both
nations were exposed to imperialism and were taken advantage of by the
Western nations, Japan avoided victimization and embraced imperialism.
As Japan became an industrialized power, the traditional feudal
society was replaced by a period of enlightened rule and eventually by
military dictatorship. In

  • 2. Perils Of Fear They say there is no eternal allies or enemies, just eternal goals. When the USSR and US were under the threat of German conquest, they decided to ally to stop Germany. This alliance ended when the Germans was defeated in 1944, and both sides switched from allies to enemies. This goes to show you that true alliances and enemies, aren t always easy to see at first glance. Goals can bring us together or tear us apart. In The Lord of the Rings novels, Gollum works with Frodo and Sam, not because of similar goals, but because they needed each other to complete their own goals. So it wasn t a surprise when Gollum betrayed Frodo and Sam to steal the ring. This is a prime example of goals tearing people apart. This shows that having similar goals ... When the Indian government feared a revolution, Scarry says the right to assembly as well as India s other fundamental rights had been suspended as of midnight, June 25, 1975. (Scarry xiii) they did this out of fear of revolution, but this had far reaching effects, that they never foresaw. The children of India used to walk in croq, or in lines of two, chatting and laughing together on their way to school. Until the government made it illegal to walk in croq, by banning assemblies of citizens and they were forced to walk in single file to school. This is an unjust thing for the government to do, and helps illustrate that fearing something doesn t make it just. I have reviewed many points from the book Thinking in an Emergency and believe from looking at the points on the Swiss shelter system, Indian government and the US and other nuclear countries military strategy. That the maxim The only sound basis of alliance is mutual fear is accurate and truthful. The line has weaknesses like ignoring moral and social bindings, and being uncaring, as a system. But from the information I have I can say with confidence that the only true basis of an alliance is mutual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Philip Zimbardo’S Famous Quote Was Inspired From His Stanford Philip Zimbardo s famous quote was inspired from his Stanford prison experiment and it states The line between good and evil is permeable and almost anyone can be induced to cross it when pressured by situational forces . This quote summarized means that when a human is given or in the right scenario, humans will take on one of the most savage behavior. Philip Zimbardo s experiment that happened in 1971 was all about taking in male volunteers to a prison like setting and he had them take roles as either prisoners or guards. The first to become blind were put into an asylum to help contain the blindness and the ministry is very unhelpful and this poor man along with his wife and the doctor and his wife who still has her sight are tortured and mistreated leaving to die of hunger for days and some killed in the process of trying to escape. Now to the examples, these people start to take in animalistic behaviors in order to survive. They are more than willing to go to great measures in order to escape, stay alive, eat, and receive pleasure. The first example that helps prove it is, Those two mouths searched until they found each other, and then the inevitable happened, the pleasure of both of them... forgive me, I don t know what came over me, in fact, we were right, how could we (Saramago 174). In this quote, the doctor s wife has caught her husband having sexual intercourse with another woman and she isn t surprised at all. She acknowledges that she has not been pleasurable towards her husband and she understands that he had to find a way to exert those urges and so he betrays his wife. This man who must have been urging for quite a while did the inevitable and although his wife accepts what has happened you can understand how he was willing to get caught and lose his relationship. • 4. Mucha Alphonse Mucha, an adept designer from the Art Nouveau movement, heavily inspired my art piece Just Breathe . Mucha is renowned for his captivating feminine style. His works from Art Nouveau often had a central female figure encircled in intricate design. The surrounding design ranged from nature to themes inspired from cultures such as Moravian folk art. Similarly, my poster contains a leading woman placed in the center. She is enclosed in a circle of blues, greens, and teals with a unique texture. A smoky design also escapes her mouth to resemble breathing. Much like Mucha; flowers, a peacock feather, and the colors are influenced by the movement he partook in. He also created hand drawn typography in his prints and paintings. I was decided to try the same with the words: just breathe. Outside the circle and type, it is illuminated by a light blue. Around the girl and the smoky design is a white outline. That was done with white gel pen. Overall, my intention for this poster was to create a serene image that reminds the viewer to a take a step back and breathe from any stress they are enduring. I was influenced by my own personal experiences with Anxiety to create this. I easily get anxious and suffer from panic attacks. A lot of the time, I forget to breathe because of this. As supportive parents, the Murrell s used the money intended for their tuition to open a hamburger take out shop in Arlington, Virginia to keep the boys close to home and employed (Boone and Kurtz, 2012, p. 78). An oligopoly is a market situation in which relatively few sellers [like Burger King, McDonald s] compete and high start up costs form barriers to keep out new competitors [like Five Guys Burgers and Fries] (Boone and Kurtz, 2012, p. 80). Within this competitive fast food burger industry, the main product being offered is a hamburger. However, one of Five Guys unique features compared to Burger King and McDonald s is to only offer fresh, never frozen, eighty percent lean meat burgers that are made to order. Many of the traditional fast food burger restaurants, only offer frozen patties cooked in advanced, and stored under heated lamp until ordered by the customers. They also offer the customers seventeen free toppings for their burgers. Additionally, they use the same kind of bun for the burgers; as well as the original baker. Subsequently, Five Guys does not sell dehydrated French Fries unlike its competitors. Their potatoes are slowly grown in Northern Idaho, where the weather conditions are quite favorable for growing solid and tasty potatoes. Many of the competitors reduce their costs by purchasing potatoes from California or Florida, where they are grown fast and are a lot cheaper. Lessons Learned Report On Iranian Culture Lessons Learned Report Omid Ashrafi Aug 23, 2014 City University of Seattle Abstract This paper shows cultural differences between Iranians, Chinese and Indians in business negotiations based on interviews with three businessmen: an American citizen who set up a general trading company in China, an Iranian Canadian citizen who has a trading company in Iran, and an Indian America who set up a business in India. The interview questions focused on cultural elements based on Hofstede s research: power distance, low high context, and general business behavior in these countries. Lessons Learned Report Knowledge of other cultures is one of the keys to being successful in business dealings. This paper reports on real experiences in cross cultural business interactions from three different perspectives. I interviewed three successful businessmen, one who worked with Iranians, one with Chinese, and one with Indians. I interviewed them independently, and my questions covered four different elements: cultural behavior in business negotiations, management as symbol of high power distance in the companies, knowledge of high context or low context culture, and finally knowledge of each of culture to have better business negotiation in future. • 7. Who Is To Blame In The Cruel God Of Genesis The Cruel God of Genesis This essay will propose and support the thesis that God carries the blame for the expulsion of man from the Garden of Eden and resulting downfall of mankind. Genesis has always been the cause of heated discussions. The work itself is not all that confusing, but rather the symbolism buried deep within the text is. The opinions of the reader often have a substantial influence on the reader s interpretation of the text. Because the scripture has played such an important role in the theological beliefs of so many Christians, extremely different interpretations of the text have the potential to create distance between even the closest of friends and even worse, families. In all actuality, God was merely teasing Adam and Eve with the idea of eternal paradise. God knew of the inevitable original sin and even still he gave Adam and Eve a taste of paradise. If indeed God loved them as much as he supposedly did, wouldn t he have saved them the torment of having to surrender a true heaven on earth because they made one little mistake? God knew that by giving man free will he would also be giving them the opportunity to lose everything that they held dear to them. Also, if the will bestowed on Adam were so free, why would he have to be subject to the consequences of his actions? In all actuality, Adam and Eve did have free will; just as long as they didn t think for themselves and only did what God told them to do. In essence, it is very much like getting something for free, but still having to pay the tax. In other words, God dropped the theoretical ball when he came up with his not so free will. The final question that remains is why? Why did God bring to an end his own creations eternal happiness? When given just the information presented in Genesis 1 3, the motives behind God s cruel plot are not quite so obvious. But when consideration is taken for the fact that the entire Bible is, for all logical reasons, God s plan set in plain ordinary words. All things must come to an end, so the saying goes. Even the world as we know it will come to an end. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Federal Reserve System And Economic Development The Federal Reserve The Federal Reserve System was created by Congress in 1913 and passed the Federal Reserve Act in order to provide for a safer and more flexible banking and monetary system. According to the changing needs of the system, its objectives have been changing throughout the history of the Fed. At first, its original purposes were to give the country an elastic currency, provide facilities for discounting commercial credits, and improve the supervision of the banking system under a decentralized bank. (The Federal Reserve System, 1984, 1). Prior to its establishment (the Fed), the supply of bank credit and money was inelastic, thus resulting in an irregular flow of credit and money, and contributed to unstable economic development. These objectives were aspects economic policies and national monetary. However, through time, stability and growth of the economy, high employment levels, stability in the purchasing power of the dollar, and reasonable balance in transactions with foreign currencies have become to be recognized as primary objectives of the governmental economic policy. The Fed is an independent central bank. Its decisions are not ratified by the president or any other government institutions. However, the Fed has to report to the Congress. The book of the Federal Reserve System (1984, 2) uses the term of independent within the government , since the Fed has to work within the framework of the objectives of economic and financial policy ... A case in point is the expulsion of Hagar and her son Ishmael in Genesis 21.9 14. A repeat of what went on between their mothers, now acted out by the children, in Genesis 16 leads to a permanent removal of Ishmael from the homestead. Isaac becomes Abraham s only son as can be seen in Genesis 22.12. Isaac then could be referred to as an only son because Ishmael had been chased out of the household together with his mother and, Abraham was not in touch with them, and was not really in a position to control and influence Ishmael s life, which was as good as there being one child for him. • 10. How Did The Vietnam War Influence The French Indochina War Derek Schmidt College English Opinion Based Research Essay The French Indochina War Starting in late 1946, a rebellion began in French Indochina. The French colony, only recently liberated from Japanese occupation, was eager to assert its independence from France. However, the French, wishing to retain their colonial empire, had no wish to let this happen. Backed by the United States who was afraid of the spread of communism in the area, France fought a brutal war to maintain its position of power over Indochina. Ultimately, just like the Vietnam War that succeeded it, the French Indochina War was a waste of time, money, and manpower. French Indochina was a colony of France consisting of the modern day countries of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. The colony was created after the French occupied several important cities and the Vietnamese were forced to sign treaties acknowledging the authority of the French over Vietnam. After gradually establishing suzerainty over Indochina between 1858 and 1893, the French created the first Indochinese Union to govern it (Indochina). French influence was strongest in the urban centers, while it had little impact on the far more populous rural areas. French Indochina came under the occupation of the Japanese during World War II, and the Japanese collaborated closely with the French colonial administrators and Bảo Đấi, the Emperor of Vietnam and a French puppet ruler. Nevertheless he was the first Ottoman military commander to defeat a western army in living memory, and became a national hero, awarded the title Pasha (commander). During 1917 and 1918 Kemal Pasha was posted to the Caucasus front fighting the Russian forces with some success, and then to the Hejaz, where the Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule was in progress. He became increasingly critical of the incompetent conduct of the war by the Sultan s government, and also of German domination of the Empire. He resigned his command, but eventually agreed to return to command Ottoman forces in Palestine. In October 1918 the Ottomans capitulated to the Allies, and Kemal became one of the leaders of the party which favoured a policy of defending the Turkish speaking heartlands of the Empire, while agreeing to withdraw from all the non Turkish territories. With the very first football game being played between Rutgers and Princeton to Peyton Manning making a touchdown pass that was recognized by the World Record Association in the game against the 49ers, a spectator can tell the difference between not only skill and the technical aspects of the game, but between the love for the game itself. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. With these words, Lombardi highlights that people are nurtured to become a leader and a follower. For instance, Lombardi asserts that a person is trained, whether to be a leader, or a follower, through eagerness and determination. The book, The Sunflower, written by Simon Wiesenthal, an author and a Jewish holocaust survivor, who focuses on one of the most controversial topics during and after World War II, forgiveness. In this book, Weisenthal talked about a questionable case in which Karl, an SS soldier who murdered plentiful of people, asked Weisenthal for forgiveness for all the pain he had done towards all the people that were affected by him. When it comes to the topic of whether people are born to become leaders or followers or is one trained by the environment, most people will readily agree that people are conditioned to become a leader or a follower, where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of, What makes a person a leader? Most popular surgeries in the country include eye lifts, liposuction, and breast enlargements. Those who have gotten these procedures are likely to keep what they have had done in order to not be shamed by others who may not support artificially changing one s appearance. Many people may know that South Korea is known as the plastic surgery capital of the world. Plastic surgery was once a major taboo in Korea, where those who have gotten it done would be looked down upon on by family and friends and be ostracized by society, but now the pursuit of perfection has made cosmetic surgery much more popular and open to the public. About one in five women in Korea would have some kind of plastic surgery done, and many neighborhoods and subway stations are lined with advertisements and billboards to promote clinics by showing before and after photos (Graham, Popular Surgery Shrouded in Shame ). In my experience of living in South Korea for a few months, I did notice that there were many cosmetic surgery advertisements in certain districts of Seoul. In those areas, I would typically see women s faces all bandaged up from those procedures that got done and they wouldn t care if people judged. And while laws prohibit child labor, exceptions are made, like the number of hours a child can work and how old you have to be to work. Kids as young as seven are working 16 hours in mines. Child labor is significant all around the world but largely in Asia, Africa, and Latin America and in parts of Europe. Children are used in mines because they have smaller bodies to climb in shafts and small crevices, their small nimble hands and fingers are good for sorting minerals. Forced into mines by poverty and debt, children will spend the rest of their lives working in hazardous environments. These hazardous conditions are hard to control because mining often takes place in temporary, remote, small scale locations making it difficult to regulate and monitor (Lillie). Child miners risk injury, death and face long term health problems caused by back breaking labor, exposure to dust and chemicals and, worst of all, poisoning. Working in these mine deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and hurts them mentally, physically, and socially. Poverty is the leading reason that children are going to work at such a young age. Different authors looked at different variables as well as used their own methods in reducing light, noise and movement. Comparing all of the studies, it was difficult to find any strong patterns or consistencies between studies apart from the inclusion of light in more than one study. It is evident that in this field, different researchers have analysed different variables and used different methods, which makes it challenging to fully solve this problem in preterm infants. In terms of the overall hypothesis, there is inconclusive evidence and not enough studies done in the area about the effect, if any, of light and noise on the neuropsychological development and sleep patterns on preterm infants. Despite the limited number of studies on the variable of movement, all researchers agreed that movement (tactile/kinaesthetic stimulation) had positive effects on a range of developmental outcomes of preterm infants. Ultimately, the fact that Physicians have complained about the detrimental impact of unacceptable high levels of these variables in the environment of the NICU ward, and nothing has been done to change it yet paints a very bleak picture for the neonatal preterm infants of the future. Only two studies suggested new solutions for this ongoing problem, but yet again none of these have been tried, tested or proven in real cases. The fact that there are barely any studies done on the variable of constant movement makes problems in this field of research even more challenging to solve, hence the need for further interest and research on the specific variables of constant movement, light and noise if we are going to provide and create a healthier NICU environment and future for our next ... A double string of ivory pearls swooped around her neck, landing in the lull of her collarbone. Vintage black eyeglasses were diligently balancing on the bridge of her crinkly nose. The wrinkles that adorned her face were indicative of many years lived and with each cough, they furrowed. She wore a knitted rose cardigan over what appeared to be a light blue night gown.
