Beowulf The Behavior Of The Masses
Beowulf the Savior of the Masses
People have finally came to a conclusion that Beowulf is an allegory. An allegory is a story with a
subliminal meaning. The allegory behind Beowulf is a story of salvation. It is the changing of
pagan gods to the christian faith. Thus we must assume every battle is a battle for religion.
Beowulf starts out with a monster named Grendel seeking revenge. Grendel is furious over Cain s
banishment from God. Summary(ch 1). He is looking for revenge, he will settle on the Spear
Danes. He raids the great hall and kills tons of men.(ch 2). He will continue these assaults day and
night. The mighty king Hrothgar can do nothing about these attacks. He sits and watches as his
forces are being decimated by Grendel.Summary(ch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It states that many invasions have occurred within the region. It states that Beowulf murdered the
Swedish queen.Summary(ch 32). Which suggest the wars that have been fought were very personal
and deadly. Another piece that suggest that is that when Beowulf approached the guard was very
weary.Summary(ch 3).
The culture of the Spear Danes is a vicious one. The challenges they faced every day were brutal.
Constant raids on their towns by men and beasts were constant. Grendel was one of these beasts. He
continuously raided Hrothgar s kingdom until Beowulf killed him.
There are many pagan and religious ties in Beowulf. Firstly we look at examples of christianity
inside of the story. The main example is when they states Grendel is related to Cain from the old
testament of the bible.Summary(ch 1). In terms of Pagan beliefs, the Danes and Anglo Saxons have
many gods they look up to in the story. Summary(ch 41).
This story is one of a great warrior and a kingdom finding salvation in the christian faith at the
same time. When they say that god was on Beowulf s side throughout the epic it suggest their
strong christian beliefs that they adopted. However they ll also reference their old Pagan gods and
beliefs, those dwindle as the story goes on however. Which might suggest their in a transition period

Tim Burton Diversity
Tim Burton is a very famous director that has many exceptional works. Some of his greatest
include: Beetlejuice, The Nightmare before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie s Chocolate
Factory, Edward Scissorhands, (most all of them have Johnny Depp in them). There is a lot of
talk going on right now about Tim Burton s new movie, Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar
Children . Tim Burton is an incredible director with award winning films, so what makes this one
any different? Burton s newest movie is having quite the battle on Twitter. There has been an
outrage because of the all white cast in the movie. Everyone acting in the movie is white, except
Samuel L. Jackson. Many people have been tweeting about how wrong Burton was for being so
discriminating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, it should be how more people look at things now. The people posting on twitter are saying
it is intentional, he has a lack of diversity because of racism, but that is not the case. Burton later
talks about how he hires for talent, not color. Samuel L. Jackson was asked how he felt about
being the only African American character in the movie. He states, I may have been the first
(black character in a Tim Burton movie), I don t know, or the most prominent in that particular
way, but it happens the way it happens, Jackson said. I don t think it s any fault of his or his
method of storytelling, it s just how it s played out. Tim s a really great guy. This says a lot about
Samuel L. Jackson and society. He was on the set, in the film, and he did not feel discriminated by
Tim. The whole thing was an attack from Twitter users for absolutely not excuse. If the African
American in the film didn t see Burton s actions as racist or un diverse then why was the rest of
society? If someone came in for a job interview and had every talent in the world right for the
job, but a ethnically diverse person came in and applied for the same position and you gave the
job to the black/Asian/Spanish person just because of their skin, then wouldn t that be racist too, or
is it only racist when white people do

Racism In Trethewey s Native Guard
In Trethewey s Native Guard, graves symbolize of the futility of mankind s efforts to conceal its
evils, and of failure to combat the racist system put in place by white America. For years,
Trethewey s mother fought to protect her daughter from the hatred and prejudice in America.
Her protest against the hatred of America was snuffed out by abusive partners and the nascent
racism of America. In the poem Graveyard Blues, she describes the atmosphere of the graveyard
as blues y and dreary. She wander[s] now among names of the dead: My mother s name, stone
pillow for my head, her mother s name now only a marker of her lifetime of suffering. Not only a
problem in Trethewey s time, racism and inherent discrimination was an issue for even the African
American heroes of the Civil War, the Native Guard receive no recognition from the historians of
the fort or the Daughters of the Confederacy. In the poem Elegy for the Native Guards, Trethewey
states that there are no names carved for the Native Guards 2nd Regiment, Union men, black
phalanx. What is monument to their legacy? They receive no honorable grave. They receive the
most barbaric of burial rites, doomed to have fish dart among their bones. The bodies of the native
guard are cast out of sight into the ocean, neglected in an attempt to forget the evils committed
against them. Their forgotten and neglected grave symbolizes the futility of fighting against the
racism of America, as well as the futility in concealing

Lawrence s Influence On Aqaba
Lawrence exhibited his innovative leadership during the attack on Aqaba as he depleted the
Ottoman defenses, therefore bolstering the Allied Powers. Aqaba was a strategic location that
provided essential resources for Turkish troops in Northwestern Arabia. Lawrence later wrote that
A[q]aba s special value to the Turks was that, in their hands, it might, when they pleased, be
constituted as a threat on the right flank of the British army (Wilson 398). Just as Aqaba was
valuable for the Allies, it could also prove to be detrimental to the British, given its location near
their Suez Canal forces. While searching for access to the Aqaba Ma an supply route and having
made significant progress toward Aqaba, Lawrence encountered Auda abu Tayi. Lawrence

E. Lawrence fulfilled his role to both Britain and Arab tribesmen on securing the capture of
Damascus. His presence in Syria no longer necessary, he returned to England a hero. However,
his advocacy for the Arabs did not end; he continued to fight for the Arabs rights to control the
land they so valiantly fought for. The Sykes Picot agreement was a pact settled by the Allied
powers, parceling Syria out to European Allies. Lawrence leveraged his popular status to gain
political influence, and worked with the Allies when they sought to fairly separate the land. This
redistribution of land taken from the Arab tribesmen is identified as a major contributing cause
for the contemporary conflicts in the Middle East. Just as T.E. Lawrence followed Britain s
tradition of influencing other cultures during the age of imperialism, other contemporaries such
as the explorer Richard Burton also assimilated into cultures visited. In his quest for the source of
the Nile River, Burton immersed himself in cultures across Asia and Africa, going so far as to
travel through Mecca in Arab garb. None, however, was accepted to same degree and achieved the
paragon of leadership as Lawrence of

Similarities Between The Lottery And The Destructors
The Lottery and The Destructors are both very intriguing short stories. Imagine being out in the
hot, bright sun and then suddenly being stoned by fifty people or driving up to your house one
day from being out of town and seeing your house completely gone. Feelings or emotions of hurt,
sorrow, or loneliness begin to appear. People can be cruel for no reason because that individual is
not happy with their life or simply jealousy. Shirley Jacksonwho wrote The Lotteryand Graham
Green who wrote The Destructors do an excellent job of portraying an interesting theme and
intensifying their short stories. The Lottery and The Destructors have similar themes of random
destruction, but the author uses different settings to set apart... Show more content on

Thomas s house. So as Mr. Thomas leaves to go out of town, the gang members destroy the whole
house until there is nothing left. Therefore, The Lottery and the The Destructors portray random
destruction.
The Lottery and The Destructors have different settings. The Lottery takes place on June 27th.
The time of year is summer so the weather is hot, humid and sunny. Flowers blossoming and
grass is green (Jackson). Also, all the village people gather together on June 27th so that the
lottery may take place. Although Jackson wants the readers to seem like The Lottery is a friendly
and cheerful story, the readers begin to read further and further into the story and being to
understand in reality, the lottery is sorrowful. Jackson wanted the keep the readers intrigued, so she
made the setting cheerful and positive until the end. The Destructors takes place on a Sunday
morning. The sun is covered by stormy clouds. The ground is wet and the wind begins to make
swirls of dust under the trees. Mr. Thomas s house is beautiful and 200 years old. As the author
relays detailed information to the readers, the readers begin to feel a sense of uncertainty and
question. The setting affects the theme of the story because random destruction is often dark and
gloomy. Greene created a great scene that lined up with the theme. When Green was explaining the
setting, he was foreshadowing the destruction of Mr. Thomas s house. Although The Lottery and

Why I Want To Pursue A Career In The Music Industry
Even though my current job is in the field of customer service and not broadcasting or music
production, it still involves communication. I currently utilize this skill at ACE when I interact
with customers and will do the same at an audio production position when I give advice to
vocalists and musicians. In the future, I can communicate effectively when I discuss my career
plans with counselors at school as well as conduct informational interviews with those who work
in the recording arts industry. I intend to achieve my career goals by using these strategies as
well. In one to two years, I see myself working in the music and broadcasting industries as a
freelancer, intern, or full time employee. In five to ten years, I imagine myself employed at a
recording studio in my hometown or San Francisco or Los Angeles, which in my opinion is the
entertainment capital of the world. Hopefully, by this time, I will have completed my Bachelor s
degree and already gained experience in my desired career industries as well as conducted countless
informational interviews. Additionally, my SoundCloud portfolio will contain over a few hundred
instrumentals that I produced. I want to take all the necessary steps towards becoming a top notch
music producer. There are several varying positions in the music industry that can seek besides a
music producer. According to CareersInMusic.com, which lists both careers in the industry, the list
of jobs includes, but is not limited to, audio engineers,

Creationism Isn t Science but Belongs in Schools Essay
Creationism Isn t Science but Belongs in Schools
The origin of life has been a point of discussion for as long as history has been documented.
Ancient Egyptians believed that the sun god Ra took another form, created land from a watery
abyss and created everything, including gods and humans. The Iroquois, a tribe of Native
Americans, told a story of god to human lineage that resulted in twins, one being evil and one
being good. The good twin creates a picture perfect world. The evil twin reverses the good twin s
actions by making things more complex and difficult for humans. Christians and Jews believe that
God, their only god, created the earth and the heavens in six days, and on the seventh day ... Show

He states that the inclusion of creationism would be a startling blow to the fabric of science
education. He goes on to say that the general understanding science students should have is that
people can confront the universe and learn about it directly through scientific testing (520). The
theory of creationism can not be tested using the earth and universe directly, and because of this
Eldredge feels that it would be detrimental to students general understanding of science.
Creationism Isn t Science is the title of this essay and it explains the ideas of this essay in one
sentence; the author, however, takes approximately six pages to reiterate this idea. Eldredge s main
point is simply that creationism isn t a science and evolution is a vital theory in the field of science.
The idea is basic; the theory of evolution is based in science and therefore is to be taught in a
science curriculum. Evolution is the theory that there is one basic scheme of similarities
interlocking all of life. This theory is usually studied in biological fields but is useful in a number
of other scientific fields. By explaining the uses of evolution in some scientific fields, Eldredge
makes the point

the exact time the escapees escaped and the exact same tides that they were the night of and
when it hit that time they all started from the prison rooms that frank and the two brothers had

The Effect Of Bacterial Growth On Space Flight
Early studies have documented that bacterial growth increases in space flight; yet, the inherent
mechanisms beholden to this growth have not been discovered. As the bacteria devour nutrients,
they discharge corollary that can affect growth and impact ultimate cell population denseness. It is
acknowledged that these metabolic processes charge a reduction in density of the fluid zone and
the solute gradient about every cell. Along this planet, this fluctuation in density leads to an
elasticity transfer of the expelled by products. The fluid motion enclosing the cells can be changed
through the restricting of the movement to just diffusion because of the lack of activity and
deposit in the low gravity space flight surroundings. From this biophysical representation, it was
speculated that an increase in speed impacts the lag phase period and the final cell s denseness of
suspended cultures of bacteriain a deviating way. This is because of the modifications obtained in
the extra cellular fluid constitution. Contained in the paper are experiments of different
accelerations that frequently sustained this hypothesis, culmination in foreseeable growth kinetics.
Other experiments show plumes of fluid that are visible to the naked eye emerging from
metabolizing bacterial cultures. If related fluid kinetics were discovered to come about on a
microscopic level, it might inform us of how acceleration impacts bacterium growth kinetics.

Christianity. In their quest to establish Rome as an important religious center, the popes goal was
to destroy most ancient ruins and erase the city s pagan history. In the efforts to prevent a
complete destruction of Rome s past, Raphael expresses his concerns and beliefs in the Report to

efforts and talents of its people. He also laments about the destruction

Addiction As A Medical Disease
Addiction, defined as a chronic medical disease, has led to great furor in the scientific
community.[1] Some argue that because epidemiologic data shows that most addicts quit, possibly
when faced with social and financial consequences, addiction is based on decisions and thus, should
be treated as a choice. Those in favor of the disease model remark that because experiments have
correlatively shown that drugs can change the brain structurally and functionally, one should treat
addictionas a medical disease. One can expect from both perspectives, that the more important
question is whether or not addiction has a biological aspect to it that can be causally linked to
substance abuse behaviors. In this essay, we will review some of the compelling evidence on both
sides of the argument and weigh their significance in order to come to a logical judgment.
In Lopez Quintero et al., 2013, the purpose of their experiment was to 1) estimate the time to
remission 2) estimate the probability of remission and 3) identify predictors of remission. They
collected epidemiologic data for alcohol, cannabis, cocaine in adults aged 18 24 of the U.S
population in 2001 2002 by an interview from the DSM IV Alcohol Use Disorder and Associated

their dependence and with what drug. In their results, they found that while the probability of

Animal Performers Research Paper
The Truth Behind Animal Performers If someone was repeatedly hit, stabbed and whipped for the

and health was ignored for the sake of entertainment, would we allow it? These are the conditions
thousands of animals have to endure everyday. If they aren t acceptable for humans, they aren t
acceptable for animals. While many may believe animals in entertainment attractions are well taken

Importance Of Controversy In Professional Sports
Lots of people and families watch football every weekend, and it is one of the most popular
sports in the United States, but could some team names be racist and derogatory. Teams such as
the Redskins should be required by the NFL to change their name because of several reasons. First
off, lots of people all over the U.S. think the term Redskin is rude, and should be changed. Second,
there would be some benefits to changing the name, and third being that the name is offensive and
derogatory to Native Americans.
There has been a lot of controversy over the Washington Redskinsname lately. Some people
believe the Redskins name is derogatory to Native Americans, and even say it is a racial slur. Fifty
United states senators out of one hundred have argued that the name should be changed. This shows
how big of a deal this dispute over the Redskins team has become. Also Tom Cole and Betty
McCollum, part of the congressional Native American caucus (CNAC), and 8 other Congress
members even sent a letter to the NFL telling them to change the football teams name. Therefore,
some people believe, including people in government positions, that changing Washington s football

Socrates s Influence On The Youth
Socrates claims that he could not have harmed the youth of Athens willingly, and his claim that
all desire is for the good, are interconnected with each other. For Socrates claim about his
influence on the youth to be true, the claim that everyone desires for virtuous things and not
wicked, must also be true. The Meno states that: It is clear then that those who do not know
things to be bad do not desire what is bad, but they desire those things that they believe to be
good but that are in fact bad. It follows that those who have knowledge of these things and
believe them to be good clearly desire good things (Meno 77e). The key point in the above
statement is that sometimes someone does something morally wrong with the belief that their
action are upstanding. They may justify their action by their feelings that they feel at the moment
when otherwise they would know that that action is bad. This is an acceptable point of view
because Socrates never said that it has to be a true belief. As long as one has it in their mind at the
moment that the action is a justified one then they follow Socrates example. The above quote leave
the question then what happens to those that acknowledge the things that they do are immoral? The
answer there are no such people. Comparable to the eastern philosophy of karma, Socrates
proclaims that those who do bad believe that detrimental things will come back to harm them too.
That being harmed leads a person to be miserable and unhappy, and no

The Haitian Revolution
To say that all men are born and created equally is an understatement to say the least. Speaking
morally, yes. But in reality, no. Especially if you are someone of African descent lost in the
diaspora. Case in point, the Haitian Revolution. Holding someone against their will and forcing
them into slavery is wrong. To force an unfair and unjustified debt upon a people for fighting for
their freedom and winning is double wrong and equally as bad as slavery. It goes as a slap in the

color, the black slaves and the maroons. The whites were mostly French and numbered about
20,000 and they were divided into two main groups: The planters and the petit blancs. The
planters were the wealthy whites that own plantations and slaves. The second and less powerful
group known as the petit blancs was made up of shop keepers, artisans, merchants, teachers, and
different middle and underclass whites. The petit blancs often had slaves but not that many as
the planters. Both groups were committed to slavery and anti black; they seen free blacks as a
serious economic and social competitor. Next you have the free people of color. They ranged in
the number of 30,000. Half of which were mulattoes, children of the slave owners and slave
women. The other half were black slaves who were 500,000 strong, who had purchased their
own freedom or was given freedom by their masters. The free blacks were wealthy and that really
didn t sit well with the petit blancs. Lastly, the maroons. They were a large group of run away
slaves who lived deep in the mountains and the kept alive the African ways and traditions like

Ethnic Identity And Cultural Beliefs
Introduction: Around Twelve thousand years ago, human beings learn basic agriculture and animal
domestication. This allowed a human being to create societies which allowed ethnic groups to
emerge. An ethnic group is a group of people that share similar ancestry, physical traits, customs and
cultures with each other. A person s ethnicityis important to their identity since they grew up
learning about their ancestry s past and culture in order to understand social interaction and
behavior. Culture s is subunit to a Person s ethnicity since it is the knowledge, beliefs, and customs
of the ethnic groups history and experience. It influences a individual to speak a certain language,
eat a specific diet, and practice a religion that is important to their region. It can also help explain
why a person wears a specific design of clothing or interacts differently with people of the
opposite sex since culture shapes an individual s social behavior. It is a key block to a person s
identity since it allows individuals to connect to a community that has been practicing and
spreading it since its conception. Many countries today, such the United States, are home to dozens
of ethnic groups and their culture. I have been exposing too many ethnic groups and their cultures
while growing up in Orange County but I never realize their importance in our daily lives until I
started to take ethnic studies courses in the community college. That is where I begin to appreciate

Chicago Race Riots Essay
A Look Into the Chicago Race Riots
The Civil War was fought over the race problem, to determine the place of African Americans in
America. The Union won the war and freed the slaves. However, when President Lincoln declared
the Emancipation Proclamation, a hopeful promise for freedom from oppression and slavery for
African Americans, he refrained from announcing the decades of hardship that would follow to
obtaining the new won freedom . Over the course of nearly a century, African Americans would be
deprived and face adversity to their rights. They faced something perhaps worse than slavery;
plagued with the threat of being lynched or beat for walking at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Many left to the North because it was a place ...where there are no lynchings (Sandburg 15), a
place where they could be safe. The black population in Chicago lived in an area known as the
black belt. The Negro Migration caused the population in the Chicago black belt to more than
double from 50,000 to 125,000 making Chicago have the third or fourth largest black population
next to New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington (7).
A large influx of colored people created many problems. First, there was a major problem in the
availability in housing, of which was responded to with racism. This is the root for the hatred
between the black and white communities. There wasn t enough housing in the black belt
community, so Negroes began to spill into white neighborhoods. The very existence of a colored
person in a neighborhood would lower the property values. When a house was sold to a colored
person, the rent for the house would be higher than the previous, white owner s rent. Real Estate
companies believed that it is a matter of common knowledge that house after house...whether under
white or black agents, comes to the Negro at an increased rental (Sandburg 46). They sold housing
despite the fact that the Negro in Chicago, paid a lower wage than the white workman (47), and

Trachea Research Paper
Air from the environment enters through the nasal cavities that are lined with a ciliated mucus
membrane that helps warm, filter, and moisten the air. The air then goes to the pharynx (where
oral and nasal cavity meet) and then down the main airway in the respiratory system or the
trachea. The trachea is made up of tough cartilage rings that keep the passageway open and are
also lined with ciliated mucus membrane that helps remove microscopic particles and bring them
back to the pharynx. The trachea contains the larynx or the voice box that vibrates when air
passes over it and the epiglottis that covers the trachea when you swallow in order to prevent
choking. The trachea then branches off into two bronchi that go to the lungs. The bronchi then
extend to smaller passageways called bronchioles located in the lungs that no longer have cartilage

When the oxygen leaves the hemoglobin by diffusing through the capillaries the cells are able to
undergo aerobic respiration at the mitochondria to get energy. The metabolic wastes that result
as end products of cellular respiration, such as carbon dioxide and water, are diffused out of the
cells and into the blood. The carbon dioxide is carried as a bicarbonate ion (CO3) in the blood
plasma. These molecules diffuse out of the blood through the capillaries and are exhaled. When
arteries bring blood to the nephrons in the kidneys, material dissolved in the plasma is able to be

Hard Water Lab Report Essay
Lab Report: Hard Water Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to determine whether a liquid is hard
water or not. Background: Hard water is the water that has a high amount of mineral in it,
usually Ca2+ and Mg+. These cations enter the source of water by leaching from minerals
within a wet underground layer of water bearing rock, or an aquifer. According to the WHO,
hard water is not harmful to human s health but it s a serious problem in the water industry.
Household plumbing and appliances are also greatly affected by hard water conditions. Some of
the effects include clogged pipes, water heater inefficiency and hard scaling. Hard water is also

Relatively, how much more? The well water from Wilton has a larger amount of Ca 2+/Mg 2+
compared to the Elk Grove tap water. Relatively, it s approximately twice harder because 28
drops of EDTA is added to Wilton well water in order to make it turns blue while it only take 16
drops to changes color of Elk Grove tap water. 2) EDTA is often added to shampoo. Can you
suggest why? EDTA is added to shampoo to take away the calcium and magnesium that exists.
The shampoo will then lather and creates more bubbles; that s greater to bathe in. 3) Pots and pans
used for boiling water often develop a coating of scale in homes that use hard water. What might
this scale be? The scale might be magnesium and calcium. After the water reaches its boiling point,
all the water molecules would turns into gas evaporates, left the solid magnesium and calcium at
the bottom of the pans. 4) Why might the water of one region be much harder than another? The
water of different region has different hardness level because water comes from different sources of
underground aquifers. The amount of

Essay about The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V
The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V
Foremost among the characters William Shakespeare develops in his series of historical plays is,
undoubtedly, the character of Henry V. Henry, also at times referred to as Harry or Hal, develops
through the course of four plays: Richard II, I Henry IV, II Henry IV, and Henry V
. From the brief
mention of Henry in Richard II to the full focus upon him in Henry V, a dramatic changeclearly
takes place: the playful carousing youth portrayed in the first play develops into a King and
conqueror by the conclusion of the final play. In order to truly examine his development however,
one must examine the growth and eventual fusion of two undeniable separate characters: the prince
Henry, and the youth Hal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In I Henry IV, when we finally meet Hal, the image presented in Richard II becomes conflicted.
We see Hal placed in an environment one might expect based upon the comments in Richard II
the Boar s Head Taven but he delivers a soliloquy which stands in stark contrast with the Hal we
expected. While this soliloquy in which declares his tavern dwelling to be a mere ruse to gain
influence lends credence to Hal s Machiavellian image, the context and the precise nature of the
speech makes it difficult to extend that line of reasoning and label him a Machiavel. Thus, when
Hal states
By so much shall I falsify men s hopes,
And like bright metal on a sullen ground,
My reformation, glitt ring o er my fault,
Shall show more goodly and attract more eyes
Than that which hath no foil to set it off (I Henry IV I.iii.211)
That same moment can be said to be the foundation for the development of the separate identity of
Henry. Though childishly unwilling to accept his fate on one level, he is clearly preparing himself
for the responsibilities of the throne on another level. When he chooses to return the stolen goods
from the Boar s Head heist, he is allowing his noble virtues to surface. These developing and
arguably primitive virtues contest greatly with the separate character of Hotspur, an individual
largely defined by his honor. Thus, in

Hornady Manufacturing. This company s headquarters is based in my hometown Grand Island

them to be used again. The company was built from basically nothing to become currently one of

Sociology and Religion Essay example
This paper is from a catholic feminist s perceptive that the church, as an institution, is structured as
a pyramid modeled on the patriarchal family with the custom of father right. The patriarchal
decision maker has the power to shape, form and control the poor of the world (McCormick, pg.
240) mirroring the aspect of the conflict theory. The poor of the world are the people who work for
the institution of the Church controlled by the patriarchal power elite. These established masses of
people feel no control, which cause anxiety and they continue to perform their means of production
as a formed unit. The power elite s fear of being overthrown by the poor of the world is fueled with

In turn, religion started to desacralize as the patriarchal family modeled for business firms, industry,
government, educational systems and other organization because the un represented people were
learning that the people who make decisions for others make them against nonmembers. Religion
and science affirmed the sacredness of hierarchy and theocracy but today the amount of exploitation
by elite in government and industries question these affirmations and instead of father right it is
human right with the inferior groups claiming what is theirs. Human rights create equal opportunity
available for all races. The more inferior groups realize and recognize the presuppositions of
superiority through social conditioning then the more they can do to demand changes for their civil
rights.
The human rights cause in the rise of desacralization of religion relies also on women s roles and
significance in religious sacralization, which was developed out of fear of human extinction while
serving the elite. Women were encouraged to bear children for existence and the church reinforced
sexuality as the common ethic of Western society. Now, since there is an immense population base
with advances in science proving to propagate the race through methods such as cloning, there is no

London By William Blake Summary
During the 18th century, London was undergoing the dreadful period in industrial revolution. At
the same time, France was dealing with the French Revolution (Desan 137 160). A poet, William
Blake, was influenced by the French Revolution, so he wanted to use the poem to change the state
of the world. Therefore, he published a collection of poems which called Song of Innocence, after
that, he published the second part of the collection which named Song of Experience (Zhan 376).
The poem, London , which is one of the Song of Experience written by the author William Blake
(Zhan 377). The poem criticizes the 18th centuryLondon which critiques the darkness of the social
state, hopeless about the future, and the monarchy of the empire under the influence of the
industrial revolution.
First of all, the social status, which is dark, dirty, and lifeless, is criticized. In the first stanza, the
author creates an image of London city s social status and successfully set the mood of the
poem. He applies various figurative languages to give the feel of the gloomy mood. For
example, the word mark repeats many times in line 3and line 4. Using to emphasize the emotions
of people are worst; feeling like falling into the abyss. mark in every face I meet , Marks of
weakness , marks of woe (Blake line 3 4). It reinforces the dark atmosphere and sets the reader in
that horrible situation. Moreover, in the last stanza, the author narrates the youthful Harlot s curse

everything changed dramatically. I cant explain how confused I was. Nothing had happened to

attitude about almost anything. If I wanted to like something, I would; if I wanted to have a
good day at work, I would. But for the first time in my life, I was totally helpless. My power of
mind had failed me. I was totally screwed. Suddenly, nothing was good or fun, or even worth
doing. My favorite things seemed boring, and everything else seemed pointless. For some
reason, every song that I would hear would be sad to me...and not just kind of depressing, but
completely tragic. Every television show or movie seemed terrifying to me. My stomach would
be filled with adrenaline constantly for fear of what someone might say (knowing it would be
the saddest thing I d ever heard). Everything was so black, so endless, and so impossible. I had

Large Corporations Essay
LARGE CORPORATIONS MEAN BUSINESS!
ANTHONY J. FRANKO
ENG 122: ENLISH COMPOSITION II
INSTRUCTOR SHANNON BILUNAS
JANUARY 7, 2013
Large corporations such as Wal Mart or Home Depot often come under criticism for putting mom
and pop shops out of business. While this may be a valid criticism, the consumers neglect to
realize that they play the biggest part in shutting these businesses down. Consumers across the
country are always looking for the best deals or the lowest prices, and in most cases the larger
corporations are where products can be found at the lowest price. Many small business owners and
the populations of small towns dislike large corporations moving into the area because they believe
it negatively effects the local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to a stronger local economy, and ultimately a thriving community. Stores like Wal Mart
are famous for keeping their prices so low. This is one reason why they are able to maintain a
grip on the consumers of an area. They accomplish this by keeping the cost to produce and
transport the goods low. In January, a study by the Los Angeles County Economic Development
Corp. found that, an individual family could save $589 a year on groceries by shopping at a
supercenter. Overall, shoppers could save $3.76 billion in merchandise nationwide. (Blazier, A,
2004) A major reason they can keep prices lower than mom and pop run businesses is their
ability to buy merchandise in bulk. Buying in bulk works the same way it does for a consumer.
The more of a product that is purchased, the less the cost is per unit. Consumers see this every
day when they go to stores like Sam s Club or Costco. When they buy their merchandise in bulk,
they are able to offer it to the consumer at a lower price. (Kale, 2011) This is what could eventually
drive the mom and pop owned businesses out of the area, and draw a negative criticism from the
public. The interesting thing about this criticism is that the public complains about Wal Mart

disadvantages of the classic positional negotiating tactic that involves taking a stance and slowly
reaching an agreement after each party makes multiple concessions often ending with less than
anyone wants and a poor relationship between parties. After that, it discusses principled negotiation
which, in short, is focused on separating the people from the problem, focusing on the interests of
the parties and not their positions, inventing multiple options that look for mutual gains through
brainstorming activities, and basing the end result on objective standards. This is the bulk of the

The Big Picture By Award Winning Authors That Offer Great...
The Big Picture is a book by award winning authors that offer great insight into the reason behind
the global economy crisis. The book offers insight into the ways in which one can navigate their
way into being successful economists where competition is stiff and the uncertainty of what the
market could be tomorrow are a serious challenge. The authors give a clear pathway on how
consumers, businessmen, federal reserves and the governments should take account of what is
happening about them in order to make critical decisions that they will not regret (Naroff
Scherer, 2014). What is assumed to be common sense is fundamentally different to those that
takes keen interest in the global economy and therefore individuals should take informed steps to
cope with this. The book covers a range of issues that are crucial in the global economy. One that
is most noteworthy to me is the Economic Theory and Fiscal and Monetary Policy. I think this is
an outstanding issue because it explains the monetary policies that the global market operates on
and how they are co related (Tan, 2000). Some of the policies include the business cycle, taxation,
bottom line recession balance of debts and loans and budget policies and the stock exchange
market. In my opinion, this is an important issue as it cut across almost all aspect of the economy
and decisions are made based on these monetary policies. These policies explain the relationship
between budget deficits and taxation. Most financial sectors

of view is how it can affect you and teammates. This is why we should have drug testing when it
comes to athletes.
According to rasmussen.edu there are roughly 3.2 percent of high school Athletes that have been
using steroids or taken shots with out doctors permission. There was a story in the New York
times article Differing Views on Value of High School Tests that had triggered people s
attention. Taylor Hooton a 17 year old lived in Plano, Tex., Had committed suicide in 2003. This
was a very shocking moment Taylor was a baseball player, and was very athletic. It was said that
his father was the one who started the the testing drugs in high school. Nothing was said about his
mother as far as I know from my knowledge is that she was very shocked.
Fox 13 salt lake city reporter Caroline Collonny, had a story on a hockey team that held silence
for a teammate that had past away a year ago by the use of drugs with three friends on a Friday.
This was not a usual case it all happened one night, but this is a prime example if it had not been
all one night, and it just so happened to happen all the time. The police had said that they ... Show

Yes you may say what if you need it for sports? Like in some cases you would need it for allergies,
but it should not be used without a doctor s permission. Even one drug can kill you depending on
how strong it is. Even one drug no matter what it is you can still kill yourself. I understand if you
are at home sick, and you are running a fever, but if you use it all the time then no that is just
wrong. That will just leave you to depression, then to eventually killing yourself and that had
happened to a lot of people

Ciara Thomas Sociology Essay
Using information from item B and elsewhere, examine the usefulness of questionnaires in
sociological research.
Item B: The first time we had this questionnaire, I thought it was a bit of a laugh. That s the
memory of it. I can t remember if I answered in truthfully or not ... it had a list of drugs and some
of them I never heard of, and just the names just cracked me up Source: Youth quoted in Parker,
H., Aldrige, J. and Meashem, F. (1998) Illegal Leisure, London: Routledge. Pp. 46 7

going to examine the usefulness of questionnaires in sociological research. I will compare the

Once it has been quantified it can be then used to compare and contrast with other people s
research and it may also be used in other ways like for example measuring change. These are all in
favour of the usefulness of questionnaires and these suggest reasons why they should be used in
sociological research.
As well as there being many advantages there are also many disadvantages to questionnaires.
Item B is a source of evidence where a respondent has commented on an experience she has had
filling out a previous questionnaire. This does not really support the use of questionnaires and
is more in favour of why we should not use this research method. We are able to see a number of
disadvantages from a comment of one person. It most definitely can lack validity and we can
never be sure if we are getting the truth. As the person in item B said, I can t remember if I
answered it truthfully or not . As it lacks validity this therefore means the results received may
not necessarily be reliable. Many people do not take them seriously and just see it as a joke and
therefore answer falsely I thought it was a bit of a laugh . Once the researcher receives the
questionnaires they can not be sure in anyway which questionnaires have valid information and
which have false information given from each respondent. When people are filling out
questionnaires their answers my be influenced because of peer pressure, they may feel pressured
into writing an answer down just because it

Attracting Females and Minorities to Law Enforcement
Race Gender: Attracting Females Minorities to Law Enforcement
Group 2: Race and Gender

Attracting females and racial/ethnic minorities to law enforcement
The article Attracting females and racial/ethnic minorities to law enforcement is about local law
enforcement agencies and their efforts to engage women and ethnic/minorities into participating in
law enforcement agencies applicant processes and also concerns the hiring patterns of law
enforcement agencies and the abilities of these agencies to fill sworn positions with females and
minority officers. The arrival of the 20th century brought with it a change in the policing
environment from the spoils system of earlier days to a more inclusive environment for female and
minority presence within officer ranks. Some of the problems that law enforcement agencies of the
more recent times will have with attracting females and minorities into law enforcement agency
careers comes from outside of the agencies, but the most important determining problems can come
from within those agencies themselves such as fear of the race and gender discrimination from the
likes of employers and co workers that makes females and minorities reluctant to join law
enforcement agencies. The more highly televised incidents of the police brutality such as the
Rodney King beating, Abner Louima torturing, and other abuse of force incidents make it very
important

Essay about The Inadequacy of Paley s Argument from Design
The Inadequacy of the Argument from Design
William Paley s teleological argument (also known as the argument from design) is an attempt to
prove the existence of god. This argument succeeds in proving that while existence was created by
an aggregation of forces, to define these forces, as a conscious, rational, and ultimately godlike is
dubious. Although the conclusions are valid, the argument makes several logical errors. The
teleological argument relies on inductive reasoning, rendering the argument itself valid, but
unsound. The argument fails to apply its own line of reasoning to itself, resulting in infinite
regression. Beyond the scope of its logical flaws, the arguments content lacks accurate comparisons.
The argument hinges on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this type of argument is practical at predicting patterns of re occurring events, they are
never legitimately sound. Consider the sunrise. It has risen every day for thousands of years on
end. Therefore, it will rise tomorrow. Despite the odds of this happening being very high, there is
not a one hundred percent chance that it will. Furthermore, consider the existence of the universe
itself. Although the odds of life being created by a random amalgamation of forces are very low,
the correct combination for life to exist only has to occur once. From that point forward, evolution
and a reaction to external stimuli allows life to change naturally.
The argument also indulges in an infinite regression. It assumes that a transcendent god created
the entire universe. However, it fails to account for what created the god. As stated in the lecture
slides, a committee of lesser beings may have created the god, but that begs the question about
who created the committee. One could object to this idea and believe that god has always existed,
transcending time and reality itself. Once again, however, this logic is just as applicable to the
universe. The universe is as capable of existing forever as a god is.
William Paley further begs the question in stating that because of perceived complexities in an
entity, it must have been designed. This perceived relation between complexity and design is an

Personal Responsibility Work Opportunity Act Analysis
The Personal Responsibility Work Opportunity Act created the Temporary Assistance to Needy
Families program to provide income support poor families with children (Gilbert Terrell, p.75).
The intended purpose of the TANF s initiative is to end Welfare and to cut down on social
spending programs. The impact of TANF has promoted a new way of receiving public assistance
and places the emphasis on self sufficiency through employment. It also pushes the main idea of
being married in efforts to decrease out of wedlock births. The primary social problem that this act
attempts to address is poverty. Its focus points are getting people to obtain employment with the
hopes that once employment is obtained it will reduce the amount of families in poverty.

  • 2. Beowulf The Behavior Of The Masses Beowulf the Savior of the Masses People have finally came to a conclusion that Beowulf is an allegory. An allegory is a story with a subliminal meaning. The allegory behind Beowulf is a story of salvation. It is the changing of pagan gods to the christian faith. Thus we must assume every battle is a battle for religion. Beowulf starts out with a monster named Grendel seeking revenge. Grendel is furious over Cain s banishment from God. Summary(ch 1). He is looking for revenge, he will settle on the Spear Danes. He raids the great hall and kills tons of men.(ch 2). He will continue these assaults day and night. The mighty king Hrothgar can do nothing about these attacks. He sits and watches as his forces are being decimated by Grendel.Summary(ch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It states that many invasions have occurred within the region. It states that Beowulf murdered the Swedish queen.Summary(ch 32). Which suggest the wars that have been fought were very personal and deadly. Another piece that suggest that is that when Beowulf approached the guard was very weary.Summary(ch 3). The culture of the Spear Danes is a vicious one. The challenges they faced every day were brutal. Constant raids on their towns by men and beasts were constant. Grendel was one of these beasts. He continuously raided Hrothgar s kingdom until Beowulf killed him. There are many pagan and religious ties in Beowulf. Firstly we look at examples of christianity inside of the story. The main example is when they states Grendel is related to Cain from the old testament of the bible.Summary(ch 1). In terms of Pagan beliefs, the Danes and Anglo Saxons have many gods they look up to in the story. Summary(ch 41). This story is one of a great warrior and a kingdom finding salvation in the christian faith at the same time. When they say that god was on Beowulf s side throughout the epic it suggest their strong christian beliefs that they adopted. However they ll also reference their old Pagan gods and beliefs, those dwindle as the story goes on however. Which might suggest their in a transition period while this was ... • 3. Tim Burton Diversity Tim Burton is a very famous director that has many exceptional works. Some of his greatest include: Beetlejuice, The Nightmare before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie s Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, (most all of them have Johnny Depp in them). There is a lot of talk going on right now about Tim Burton s new movie, Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children . Tim Burton is an incredible director with award winning films, so what makes this one any different? Burton s newest movie is having quite the battle on Twitter. There has been an outrage because of the all white cast in the movie. Everyone acting in the movie is white, except Samuel L. Jackson. Many people have been tweeting about how wrong Burton was for being so discriminating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, it should be how more people look at things now. The people posting on twitter are saying it is intentional, he has a lack of diversity because of racism, but that is not the case. Burton later talks about how he hires for talent, not color. Samuel L. Jackson was asked how he felt about being the only African American character in the movie. He states, I may have been the first (black character in a Tim Burton movie), I don t know, or the most prominent in that particular way, but it happens the way it happens, Jackson said. I don t think it s any fault of his or his method of storytelling, it s just how it s played out. Tim s a really great guy. This says a lot about Samuel L. Jackson and society. He was on the set, in the film, and he did not feel discriminated by Tim. The whole thing was an attack from Twitter users for absolutely not excuse. If the African American in the film didn t see Burton s actions as racist or un diverse then why was the rest of society? If someone came in for a job interview and had every talent in the world right for the job, but a ethnically diverse person came in and applied for the same position and you gave the job to the black/Asian/Spanish person just because of their skin, then wouldn t that be racist too, or is it only racist when white people do ... • 4. Racism In Trethewey s Native Guard In Trethewey s Native Guard, graves symbolize of the futility of mankind s efforts to conceal its evils, and of failure to combat the racist system put in place by white America. For years, Trethewey s mother fought to protect her daughter from the hatred and prejudice in America. Her protest against the hatred of America was snuffed out by abusive partners and the nascent racism of America. In the poem Graveyard Blues, she describes the atmosphere of the graveyard as blues y and dreary. She wander[s] now among names of the dead: My mother s name, stone pillow for my head, her mother s name now only a marker of her lifetime of suffering. Not only a problem in Trethewey s time, racism and inherent discrimination was an issue for even the African American heroes of the Civil War, the Native Guard receive no recognition from the historians of the fort or the Daughters of the Confederacy. In the poem Elegy for the Native Guards, Trethewey states that there are no names carved for the Native Guards 2nd Regiment, Union men, black phalanx. What is monument to their legacy? They receive no honorable grave. They receive the most barbaric of burial rites, doomed to have fish dart among their bones. The bodies of the native guard are cast out of sight into the ocean, neglected in an attempt to forget the evils committed against them. Their forgotten and neglected grave symbolizes the futility of fighting against the racism of America, as well as the futility in concealing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aqaba was a strategic location that provided essential resources for Turkish troops in Northwestern Arabia. Lawrence later wrote that A[q]aba s special value to the Turks was that, in their hands, it might, when they pleased, be constituted as a threat on the right flank of the British army (Wilson 398). Just as Aqaba was valuable for the Allies, it could also prove to be detrimental to the British, given its location near their Suez Canal forces. His presence in Syria no longer necessary, he returned to England a hero. However, his advocacy for the Arabs did not end; he continued to fight for the Arabs rights to control the land they so valiantly fought for. The Sykes Picot agreement was a pact settled by the Allied powers, parceling Syria out to European Allies. Lawrence leveraged his popular status to gain political influence, and worked with the Allies when they sought to fairly separate the land. This redistribution of land taken from the Arab tribesmen is identified as a major contributing cause for the contemporary conflicts in the Middle East. Just as T.E. Lawrence followed Britain s tradition of influencing other cultures during the age of imperialism, other contemporaries such as the explorer Richard Burton also assimilated into cultures visited. In his quest for the source of the Nile River, Burton immersed himself in cultures across Asia and Africa, going so far as to travel through Mecca in Arab garb. Flowers blossoming and grass is green (Jackson). Also, all the village people gather together on June 27th so that the lottery may take place. Although Jackson wants the readers to seem like The Lottery is a friendly and cheerful story, the readers begin to read further and further into the story and being to understand in reality, the lottery is sorrowful. Jackson wanted the keep the readers intrigued, so she made the setting cheerful and positive until the end. The Destructors takes place on a Sunday morning. The sun is covered by stormy clouds. The ground is wet and the wind begins to make swirls of dust under the trees. Mr. Thomas s house is beautiful and 200 years old. As the author relays detailed information to the readers, the readers begin to feel a sense of uncertainty and question. Creationism Isn t Science but Belongs in Schools Essay Creationism Isn t Science but Belongs in Schools The origin of life has been a point of discussion for as long as history has been documented. Ancient Egyptians believed that the sun god Ra took another form, created land from a watery abyss and created everything, including gods and humans. The Iroquois, a tribe of Native Americans, told a story of god to human lineage that resulted in twins, one being evil and one being good. The good twin creates a picture perfect world. He states that the inclusion of creationism would be a startling blow to the fabric of science education. He goes on to say that the general understanding science students should have is that people can confront the universe and learn about it directly through scientific testing (520). The theory of creationism can not be tested using the earth and universe directly, and because of this Eldredge feels that it would be detrimental to students general understanding of science. Creationism Isn t Science is the title of this essay and it explains the ideas of this essay in one sentence; the author, however, takes approximately six pages to reiterate this idea. Eldredge s main point is simply that creationism isn t a science and evolution is a vital theory in the field of science. The idea is basic; the theory of evolution is based in science and therefore is to be taught in a science curriculum. Evolution is the theory that there is one basic scheme of similarities interlocking all of life. This theory is usually studied in biological fields but is useful in a number of other scientific fields. By explaining the uses of evolution in some scientific fields, Eldredge makes the point ... • 13. The Effect Of Bacterial Growth On Space Flight Early studies have documented that bacterial growth increases in space flight; yet, the inherent mechanisms beholden to this growth have not been discovered. As the bacteria devour nutrients, they discharge corollary that can affect growth and impact ultimate cell population denseness. It is acknowledged that these metabolic processes charge a reduction in density of the fluid zone and the solute gradient about every cell. Along this planet, this fluctuation in density leads to an elasticity transfer of the expelled by products. The fluid motion enclosing the cells can be changed through the restricting of the movement to just diffusion because of the lack of activity and deposit in the low gravity space flight surroundings. From this biophysical representation, it was speculated that an increase in speed impacts the lag phase period and the final cell s denseness of suspended cultures of bacteriain a deviating way. This is because of the modifications obtained in the extra cellular fluid constitution. Contained in the paper are experiments of different accelerations that frequently sustained this hypothesis, culmination in foreseeable growth kinetics. Other experiments show plumes of fluid that are visible to the naked eye emerging from metabolizing bacterial cultures. If related fluid kinetics were discovered to come about on a microscopic level, it might inform us of how acceleration impacts bacterium growth kinetics. Introduction Most discoveries point to ... Addiction As A Medical Disease Addiction, defined as a chronic medical disease, has led to great furor in the scientific community.[1] Some argue that because epidemiologic data shows that most addicts quit, possibly when faced with social and financial consequences, addiction is based on decisions and thus, should be treated as a choice. Those in favor of the disease model remark that because experiments have correlatively shown that drugs can change the brain structurally and functionally, one should treat addictionas a medical disease. One can expect from both perspectives, that the more important question is whether or not addiction has a biological aspect to it that can be causally linked to substance abuse behaviors. In this essay, we will review some of the compelling evidence on both sides of the argument and weigh their significance in order to come to a logical judgment. In Lopez Quintero et al., 2013, the purpose of their experiment was to 1) estimate the time to remission 2) estimate the probability of remission and 3) identify predictors of remission. They collected epidemiologic data for alcohol, cannabis, cocaine in adults aged 18 24 of the U.S population in 2001 2002 by an interview from the DSM IV Alcohol Use Disorder and Associated Disabilities Interview Schedule (AUDADIS). Second, there would be some benefits to changing the name, and third being that the name is offensive and derogatory to Native Americans. There has been a lot of controversy over the Washington Redskinsname lately. Some people believe the Redskins name is derogatory to Native Americans, and even say it is a racial slur. Fifty United states senators out of one hundred have argued that the name should be changed. This shows how big of a deal this dispute over the Redskins team has become. Also Tom Cole and Betty McCollum, part of the congressional Native American caucus (CNAC), and 8 other Congress members even sent a letter to the NFL telling them to change the football teams name. • 21. Socrates s Influence On The Youth Socrates claims that he could not have harmed the youth of Athens willingly, and his claim that all desire is for the good, are interconnected with each other. For Socrates claim about his influence on the youth to be true, the claim that everyone desires for virtuous things and not wicked, must also be true. The Meno states that: It is clear then that those who do not know things to be bad do not desire what is bad, but they desire those things that they believe to be good but that are in fact bad. It follows that those who have knowledge of these things and believe them to be good clearly desire good things (Meno 77e). The key point in the above statement is that sometimes someone does something morally wrong with the belief that their action are upstanding. They may justify their action by their feelings that they feel at the moment when otherwise they would know that that action is bad. This is an acceptable point of view because Socrates never said that it has to be a true belief. As long as one has it in their mind at the moment that the action is a justified one then they follow Socrates example. The above quote leave the question then what happens to those that acknowledge the things that they do are immoral? The answer there are no such people. Comparable to the eastern philosophy of karma, Socrates proclaims that those who do bad believe that detrimental things will come back to harm them too. That being harmed leads a person to be miserable and unhappy, and no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Ethnic Identity And Cultural Beliefs Introduction: Around Twelve thousand years ago, human beings learn basic agriculture and animal domestication. This allowed a human being to create societies which allowed ethnic groups to emerge. An ethnic group is a group of people that share similar ancestry, physical traits, customs and cultures with each other. A person s ethnicityis important to their identity since they grew up learning about their ancestry s past and culture in order to understand social interaction and behavior. Culture s is subunit to a Person s ethnicity since it is the knowledge, beliefs, and customs of the ethnic groups history and experience. It influences a individual to speak a certain language, eat a specific diet, and practice a religion that is important to their region. It can also help explain why a person wears a specific design of clothing or interacts differently with people of the opposite sex since culture shapes an individual s social behavior. It is a key block to a person s identity since it allows individuals to connect to a community that has been practicing and spreading it since its conception. Many countries today, such the United States, are home to dozens of ethnic groups and their culture. A large influx of colored people created many problems. First, there was a major problem in the availability in housing, of which was responded to with racism. This is the root for the hatred between the black and white communities. There wasn t enough housing in the black belt community, so Negroes began to spill into white neighborhoods. • 25. Trachea Research Paper Air from the environment enters through the nasal cavities that are lined with a ciliated mucus membrane that helps warm, filter, and moisten the air. The air then goes to the pharynx (where oral and nasal cavity meet) and then down the main airway in the respiratory system or the trachea. The trachea is made up of tough cartilage rings that keep the passageway open and are also lined with ciliated mucus membrane that helps remove microscopic particles and bring them back to the pharynx. The trachea contains the larynx or the voice box that vibrates when air passes over it and the epiglottis that covers the trachea when you swallow in order to prevent choking. The trachea then branches off into two bronchi that go to the lungs. The bronchi then extend to smaller passageways called bronchioles located in the lungs that no longer have cartilage rings. The shampoo will then lather and creates more bubbles; that s greater to bathe in. 3) Pots and pans used for boiling water often develop a coating of scale in homes that use hard water. What might this scale be? The scale might be magnesium and calcium. Essay about The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V Foremost among the characters William Shakespeare develops in his series of historical plays is, undoubtedly, the character of Henry V. Henry, also at times referred to as Harry or Hal, develops through the course of four plays: Richard II, I Henry IV, II Henry IV, and Henry V . From the brief mention of Henry in Richard II to the full focus upon him in Henry V, a dramatic changeclearly takes place: the playful carousing youth portrayed in the first play develops into a King and conqueror by the conclusion of the final play. In order to truly examine his development however, one must examine the growth and eventual fusion of two undeniable separate characters: the prince Henry, and the youth Hal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In I Henry IV, when we finally meet Hal, the image presented in Richard II becomes conflicted. We see Hal placed in an environment one might expect based upon the comments in Richard II the Boar s Head Taven but he delivers a soliloquy which stands in stark contrast with the Hal we expected. While this soliloquy in which declares his tavern dwelling to be a mere ruse to gain influence lends credence to Hal s Machiavellian image, the context and the precise nature of the speech makes it difficult to extend that line of reasoning and label him a Machiavel. Thus, when Hal states By so much shall I falsify men s hopes, And like bright metal on a sullen ground, My reformation, glitt ring o er my fault, Shall show more goodly and attract more eyes Than that which hath no foil to set it off (I Henry IV I.iii.211) That same moment can be said to be the foundation for the development of the separate identity of Henry. Though childishly unwilling to accept his fate on one level, he is clearly preparing himself for the responsibilities of the throne on another level. When he chooses to return the stolen goods from the Boar s Head heist, he is allowing his noble virtues to surface. In January, a study by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. found that, an individual family could save $589 a year on groceries by shopping at a supercenter. Overall, shoppers could save $3.76 billion in merchandise nationwide. My first statement is how many deaths there was and still are from drugs. My second point of view is how it can affect you and teammates. This is why we should have drug testing when it comes to athletes. According to rasmussen.edu there are roughly 3.2 percent of high school Athletes that have been using steroids or taken shots with out doctors permission. There was a story in the New York times article Differing Views on Value of High School Tests that had triggered people s attention. Taylor Hooton a 17 year old lived in Plano, Tex., Had committed suicide in 2003. This was a very shocking moment Taylor was a baseball player, and was very athletic. It was said that his father was the one who started the the testing drugs in high school. Nothing was said about his mother as far as I know from my knowledge is that she was very shocked. Fox 13 salt lake city reporter Caroline Collonny, had a story on a hockey team that held silence for a teammate that had past away a year ago by the use of drugs with three friends on a Friday. This was not a usual case it all happened one night, but this is a prime example if it had not been all one night, and it just so happened to happen all the time. The police had said that they ... I understand if you are at home sick, and you are running a fever, but if you use it all the time then no that is just wrong. Once it has been quantified it can be then used to compare and contrast with other people s research and it may also be used in other ways like for example measuring change. These are all in favour of the usefulness of questionnaires and these suggest reasons why they should be used in sociological research. As well as there being many advantages there are also many disadvantages to questionnaires. Item B is a source of evidence where a respondent has commented on an experience she has had filling out a previous questionnaire. This does not really support the use of questionnaires and is more in favour of why we should not use this research method. We are able to see a number of disadvantages from a comment of one person. It most definitely can lack validity and we can never be sure if we are getting the truth. As the person in item B said, I can t remember if I answered it truthfully or not . As it lacks validity this therefore means the results received may not necessarily be reliable. Many people do not take them seriously and just see it as a joke and therefore answer falsely I thought it was a bit of a laugh . Once the researcher receives the questionnaires they can not be sure in anyway which questionnaires have valid information and which have false information given from each respondent. When people are filling out questionnaires their answers my be influenced because of peer pressure, they may feel pressured into writing an answer down just because it ... Attracting Females and Minorities to Law Enforcement Race Gender: Attracting Females Minorities to Law Enforcement Group 2: Race and Gender CRJU 4600 OL1 North Carolina Central University April 2, 2014 Attracting females and racial/ethnic minorities to law enforcement The article Attracting females and racial/ethnic minorities to law enforcement is about local law enforcement agencies and their efforts to engage women and ethnic/minorities into participating in law enforcement agencies applicant processes and also concerns the hiring patterns of law enforcement agencies and the abilities of these agencies to fill sworn positions with females and minority officers. The arrival of the 20th century brought with it a change in the policing environment from the spoils system of earlier days to a more inclusive environment for female and minority presence within officer ranks. Some of the problems that law enforcement agencies of the more recent times will have with attracting females and minorities into law enforcement agency careers comes from outside of the agencies, but the most important determining problems can come from within those agencies themselves such as fear of the race and gender discrimination from the likes of employers and co workers that makes females and minorities reluctant to join law enforcement agencies. The more highly televised incidents of the police brutality such as the Rodney King beating, Abner Louima torturing, and other abuse of force incidents make it very important ... Essay about The Inadequacy of Paley s Argument from Design The Inadequacy of the Argument from Design William Paley s teleological argument (also known as the argument from design) is an attempt to prove the existence of god. This argument succeeds in proving that while existence was created by an aggregation of forces, to define these forces, as a conscious, rational, and ultimately godlike is dubious. Although the conclusions are valid, the argument makes several logical errors. The teleological argument relies on inductive reasoning, rendering the argument itself valid, but unsound. The argument fails to apply its own line of reasoning to itself, resulting in infinite regression. Beyond the scope of its logical flaws, the arguments content lacks accurate comparisons. The argument hinges on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this type of argument is practical at predicting patterns of re occurring events, they are never legitimately sound. Consider the sunrise. It has risen every day for thousands of years on end. Therefore, it will rise tomorrow. Despite the odds of this happening being very high, there is not a one hundred percent chance that it will. Furthermore, consider the existence of the universe itself. Although the odds of life being created by a random amalgamation of forces are very low, the correct combination for life to exist only has to occur once. From that point forward, evolution and a reaction to external stimuli allows life to change naturally. The argument also indulges in an infinite regression. It assumes that a transcendent god created the entire universe. However, it fails to account for what created the god. As stated in the lecture slides, a committee of lesser beings may have created the god, but that begs the question about who created the committee. One could object to this idea and believe that god has always existed, transcending time and reality itself. Once again, however, this logic is just as applicable to the universe. The universe is as capable of existing forever as a god is. William Paley further begs the question in stating that because of perceived complexities in an entity, it must have been designed. This perceived relation between complexity and design is an inherently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
