The Civil Rights Act Of 1964 Outlawed Discrimination
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national
origin when hiring, promoting, or firing employees; in public accommodations and in all programs
receiving federal funding (Barnes Bowles, 2015). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 created equal

The Role Of Women In House On Mango Street By Sandra Cisneros
Mouse traps, they aren t the most pleasant thought but it gets a point across. Tiptoeing and jumping
are what people do when attempting to no sett off the mouse traps, so imagine penniless women
having to tiptoe around circumstances almost everyday of their lives that would get them sucked into
bad situations. In Sandra Cisneros book, House on Mango Street , well thought out motifs and
symbolisms become very useful in order to convey the expectations of women in a poor community
make the women more susceptible to becoming trapped inside this environment.
The expectations of the women in House on Mango Street repeats throughout the story in the form of
shoes. One very prominent vignette is The Family of Little Feet where Esperanza, Rachel, and Lucy
are all given high heeled shoes to try on, they excitedly decide to walk outside in them because the
heels made them feel powerful and mature. The girls walking around doesn t result well due to
multiple men sexualizing them though, especially when a man looks at them and scrutinizes their
appearance, Them are dangerous, he says. You girls too young to be wearing shoes like that. Take
them shoes off before I call the cops, but we just run (Cisneros 41). This along with a bum who asks
for a kiss and a boy who shouts at them to lead him to heaven, give Esperanza, Lucy, and Rachel a
small glimpse of what the men see them as sexual objects. As much as people want others opinions to
be irrelevant, it still inevitably takes a

means to play violin by plucking the strings, rather than using a bow. Next up is Ancient Voices

George Crumb s Black Angels have influenced the birth of an American string quartet, the Kronos

He commented and said that Crumb s work was scary and wild. Black Angels were the first

George Crumb s Star child is still one of his well known ambitious pieces. This composition consists
of massive instrumental sound along with vocals such as percussion battery and there were no less
than four conductors. There were a mass variety of sounds to portray the progression of despair to
spiritual realization. The first movement of this piece composes hums, low gongs and slow sustained
chord progression in the strings that were consistent throughout the work. Shortly after, the soul
torment depiction of the vocal strains appeared in the second movement. Star Child was filled with

Britain Is Essentially A Class-Conscious Society Where
Britain is essentially a class conscious society where the upper classes are considerably preoccupied
with the view of the social position, the language, and manners. It is still a pestilence in the British
society. In the post war Britain, a new innovative literary movement emerged as The Angry Young
Men . In this movement, the members were mostly a group of British playwrights, who were a part of
working and middle class and later became prominent in the 1950 s. The main concern of these angry
young men was infuriated with circumstances and they denied incorporating with the destitute social

The set of social values to which Colonel, his family, and his social circle were different from the
social values of Jimmy Porter s class.
The love of the couple turned into a storm in the cyclone of class conflict during their life in Hugh s
house. Jimmy was pathetically wrecked that Alison did not accept his social circle. The outcome of
this action, a very tense atmosphere was generated. Jimmy under Hugh s influence, treated Alison as a
hostage from the upper social class.
Alison was utterly disgusted with such barbaric behavior. She found it outrageous to believe that two
literate people like Jimmy and Hugh, could be so ruthless, savage. Hugh decided to go abroad. Both
Jimmy and Hugh s mother came to view that Alison was responsible for Hugh s departure. As a result,
Jimmy flares to dislike his wife. He also felt that she adopted an indifferent attitude to his concerns
and convictions; needs and necessities. He became obsessed with a sense of betrayal.
After Hugh s migration, Jimmy and Alison took another flat. Cliff Lewis, another friend of Jimmy
came to live near them. Fortunately for them, Alison and Cliff became genuinely fond of each other.
Cliff tried his best to minimize the conflict between the married couple. But, in spite of Cliff s
determined efforts to prevent the conflict from the burst, Jimmy s insults deliberately become more

The Success Of World War I
In the year 1914, the Europeans were on edge because one country had found itself at war with
another and all powers would end up into a struggle. On one side, there were the Germans, standing in
the center of Europe with their efficient armies of their neighboring countries, France and Russia. The
Germans had treaty links to the nation of Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Turks. The two main sides
were the Allies, which included France, Great Britain, and Russia; and Germany and Austria Hungary.

The Republicans split between Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft to help Woodrow

The Problem Of Plastic Surgery
Valeria Lukyanova, a Romanian young woman had more than a hundred surgeries in order to look like
Barbie. She decided to have a huge number of plastic surgeries, regardless of the price, just to reach
her ideal physical appearance. As shocking as it can be, these examples make people realize that looks
are very important in our society and that plastic surgery is therefore becoming a little too common.
Today a real addiction to plastic surgery might be threatening our world.
Plastic surgery is spreading more and more nowadays due to better knowledge in medicine but also to
the changes in people s attitudes and state of mind. It used to be a way to help people in real need but
is now used for small details people want to change, because their look mostly determines their level
of self esteem. In fact, beauty is taking a lot of importance and so does sexiness . The image of the
perfect human given by the media has been changing the way people see themselves. Plastic surgery
has become more common because it is an easy way to change physical appearance. However, the
number of eating disorders has also increased but for people who can afford it, it is always more
convenient to get an operation.
Plastic surgery should not be as common because it makes people fake in a way. It occurs when
people are obsessed with their looks and will have as many surgeries as they can to be as close to their
perfection as they can be. It can be said that there is an addiction to plastic surgery

Moore Vs Hlobo
This essay will explore the contrasts and similarities that can be taken from two drawings. Henry
Moore s, Standing figures of 1940 and Nicholas Hlobo s, Macaleni Iintozomlambo of 2010. It will
discuss the comparisons that can be made about the colour schemes, composition and subject matter
of the pieces. This will also include an evaluation of how the time scales and influences of the period
have affected the final outcomes of the two artists. The two pieces actually share many more
similarities than first hits the eye after deconstructing all of the components listed.
Henry Moore is typically renowned for the many sculptures mused by the human form, typically the
female form. He began his artistic venture in 1919 where he attended Leeds School of art, here he met
Barbra Hepworth and was inspired greatly by her. He then received many scholarships leading to the
opportunity to travel around the world, it was early Mexican and Aztec that mostly inspired his work.
His first commissioned piece was in 1928 and named West Wind. In order to create his pieces he did

Making Decisions In Homer s Timeless Epic, The Odyssey
Sometimes people are unable to control the direction their lives take. This can be a hard concept to

Sikh Family Diversity
Growing up and seeing many different types of Sikhs within my own family from those that were
more knowledgeable about Punjabi culture and upheld Sikh virtues (through not drinking alcohol,
keeping their hair or kesh) being largely outnumbered by those who were more aligned with western
culture and were more lenient in the sense of following Sikh virtues, I was torn to either fit the norm
of looking and acting like the majority or being differentiated from my own traditional immediate
family. During this time, in my own immediate family, I was the only member that did not keep his
kesh due to an eczema condition. To specify, my parents never forced Sikhi upon me nor my brother
and this decision of whether to maintain my Sikhi saroop was to extent largely mine. However, at the
time these ideas were masked behind this curtain of being normal . In addition, I attended a school
with people that were predominantly white and of different socioeconomic status. This drove me to

By talking to individual students and learning about their sources of dissatisfaction, I learned that
having this leadership position was a collaborative process that involved listening to the complaints of

also conducted meetings with the vegetarian student body after school to get a better understanding of
what we wanted in our lunches and to get more support of our decision to act through student

Fallingwater Vs Kentuck Knob Essay
Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob are two beautiful homes built by a man known as an architectural
genius, Frank Lloyd Wright. These houses have gained such notoriety in the architectural world that
both were named as National Historic Landmarks. The houses are located very close to each other
resting in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains of Fayette County in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Fallingwater is approximately 43 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. This home was built partly over a
waterfall on Bear Run in the Laurel Highlands. The house was built between 1936 and 1939 for Edgar
and Liliane Kaufmann, the owners of the famous Kaufmann s department store, and was intended to
be the Kaufmann s weekend home for family and friends. Just a short ... Show more content on

Kentuck Knob is located on Chestnut Ridge which is similarly situated in the winding roads of the
Allegheny Mountains. Kentuck Knob overlooks the fantastic view of the Youghiogheny River gorge
as well as surrounding hills and farmland.
Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob were intentionally designed alike and have many similarities but
some notable differences as well. They were both built in the Allegheny Mountains of Fayette County.
The natural landscape and architectural style was described by Wright as organic and have a natural
feel and style to match its surroundings. Both homes are integrated into the scenic and beautiful
landscape of the land. Fallingwater sits low in the valley of over the stream, but looks dramatic from
further downstream. The house has large terraces, and some of them stick straight out and hang over
the waterfall. There are very strong horizontal and vertical lines in the design of the house which
resembles the horizontal and vertical lines in the rock formations and other natural features.
Fallingwater used cantilevers to hold certain parts of the house over the stream. Some of the house
was built with the stones found in the area. The waterfall

La Raza Unida Party And Brown Beret Recruitment Literature
Throughout the 20th century, Los Angeles emerged as a place of multiculturalist struggles. One of
these struggles, was that of the Mexican population, which is what the book Mi Raza Primero focuses
on. In Mi Raza Primero by Ernesto Chavez, Chavez successfully argues how the collapse of the
Chicano movement resulted from the failure to identify the multi faceted and dynamic/heterogeneous
nature of the ethnic Mexican community. He argues how this failure resulted in a movement that
shared a strong sense of cultural nationalism, yet differed in tactics and goals. Chavez uses the
examination of La Raza Unida Party and Brown Beret recruitment literature to help support his
argument. Specifically, Chavez focuses on the voting data from the late ... Show more content on

The Brown Berets clearly recruited a specific person, thus being unable to assemble a wide array of
people from the Chicano population to reach significant reform. On top of the failure of identity in the
Chicano movement, the movement did not have much political success. La Raza Unida Party was a
party that formed as a response to the violence of Chicano activist demonstrations, deciding that to
achieve reform, peaceful actions were necessary. Activists in this party agreed on the need for Chicano
political activism but had a tough time agreeing on how to achieve it. Multiple conferences called
within Southern California chapters resulted in no clear unification or coordination. Even though the
common goal to get a single member of the Chicano movement in elected office was shared, the lack
of a clear position on what the party wanted to achieve and the strategy for achieving it led to major
contradictions. Chavez states, the only common feature among party chapters was a commitment to
vote Chicanos into office. The lack of organization and common agendas led to disagreements
between branches; for example the Texas LRUP to break off from the California LRUP, as Chavez
mentions. The LRUP never succeeded in its

Reflective Practice (RP) is a concept embedded nowadays in most of the educational and healthcare

in any other field (Hebert, Finlay 2008, GMC, NMC, Wilson 1996). This trend is based not only on
learning theories, professional requirements and patient expectation but also for the numerous benefits
that have been described such as enhancing the competence of self directed lifelong learning,
professional development and critical thinking among others. This beside of some drawbacks that

evolution of the size of whales in over thirty million years of history. They discovered that the huge
whales showed up along multiple branches in the family tree roughly two to three million years ago. A
reason for whales having those bigger body sizes is that by the increase of ice sheets located in

Alcohol Advertising And Media Influence On Drug Use
The use and abuse of psychoactive substances have long prevailed through history. For decades
society has known about psychoactive substances and many are presented through media as a norm.
Throughout the American popular culture, the media frequently documented these substances through
movies, songs, TV shows, TV commercials, etc. Additionally, media has endorse good and bad
stereotypes of drug use. Thus, research supports a connection between media portrayals of drug use
and the use of alcohol/tobacco or other drugs among children, adolescents or young adults.

My Family And My Favorite Essay
The first week of every August my family and I go to Leavenworth, Washington. We have been going
for the past 10 years. We stay for a week. We love attending the live summer musicals. The Sound of
Music has to be my favorite. Monday August 3, 2015 my family and I went to go play putt put golf at
the Icicle Creek Inn. We played until my grandparents and my older sister arrived in town. When they
arrived at the putt put golf, we finished our game. We sat down, talked and laughed. We decided to go
back to our condo to swim. When we arrived at the condo my dad unlocked the door. My younger
sister and dad and I were inside first. All of a sudden my older sister yells Oma fell!!! (We call my
grandma Oma ). My grandma had fallen on the cement sidewalk. I didn t think much of it. I was
thinking to myself Everything will be alright, She will just get back up. My mom yells OMG,
someone call 911! I rush back outside and call 911. I looked down at my grandma. She was bleeding
on her forehead. She had dirt and blood all over on her hands and knees. My mom and dad were
kneeling next to her holding her asking her questions. Mom are you alright? Mom can you hear me?
She was shaking her head no as her face started to turn blue and her eyes started to roll to the back of
her head. She was trying to communicate with us that she couldn t breathe. My sister and I were

Contracts Case Study: Property
Martha Sparks
April 19, 2013
Introduction
In this case study, Barney is a client that running into an extreme case of misfortune facing several
issues that must be resolved in court. The issues will be outlined below with information to help
properly set Barney s expectations of his upcoming battle to keep his possessions. I have grouped the
issues based on the calls listed to the attorney in the case study.
Issue #1 mountain property that is currently in process of foreclosing includes a squatter
Barney is on his way out to his mountain property to do some fly fishing when he was welcomed by a
hostile participant. Barney tried to explain that he had the deed to prove the property belonged to him.

In a similar case in Lakewood, Ohio, the Saleets were about to have their home, along with their
neighbors homes, taken to build new higher end condominiums. The mayor of the city had pressed for
the new development as a way to strengthen the tax base. In the end, the Lakewood residents were
able to reject the proposed development, remove the blight label from their neighborhood and also
voted the mayor out (Leung, 2009). Yes, the new resort would create jobs to manage the resort, and
increase the city s income and taxes, however, the area does not qualify as one that requires this sort of
enhancement. As stated in the Institute For Justice (2013) website The justification the City had
offered for the takings was that a new development would create more jobs and taxes, but keep this in
mind: anyone s home or small business would generate more taxes as a shopping mall. If that can
justify such takings, then literally no home or business would be safe from this kind of abuse at the
hands of government (para.3). Should Barney be unable to win the opportunity to keep his home,
fighting at least gives the chance to help get the best available amount for what qualifies as full market
value.
Issue #3 Auto theft gone wrong
While Barney is at local town authorities fighting for his beach property, he bumps into an old
girlfriend. He invites her to a fancy restaurant for dinner despite their casual attire. As Barney pulls up,
he hands the keys over to

The Lemur and the Gibbon Essay
Where did we come from? A question that will always be asked by every human on this planet. Some
say that we are of God s creation and some say that we have gone through a long process called
evolution and that humans and apes share a single common ancestor. Here I am going to compare and
contrast between two of my favorite types of animals: The Lemur and the Gibbon. What is a Lemur?
Ask someone that question and you ll be surprised how silly the answer may be. From being a fruit to
a body part, it is sad how the general public does not know that the Lemur one of our oldest primates,
an order which includes monkeys, apes, and us humans. There are about 32 different types of lemurs
on our planet today. They originated from Madagascar, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them have rings on their tails and are called Ring Tailed Lemurs. They live mostly in trees
and are quadrupedal. They use their hands and tails to get from one tree to the other and they live in
groups from 3 to 20. And the female lemur is dominant. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Lemurs are
known to be very intelligent. They are highly adaptable to our climate and conditions. They eat a lot
and try to get a bit fat before the harsh winter arrives. And they have a cool excellent sense of balance.
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; But since humans arrived in Madagascar some 1,500 years ago they
have been endangered. Sixteen different species of lemurs have gone extinct because of habitat
destruction to hunting by humans. I personally think its very unfair because these gentle non
aggressive animals were their before humans and even before monkeys. Prosimians first appeared
about 55 million years ago while apes been around for only 35 million years. In 1987, World Wildlife
International declared that the lemurs are the most gravely endangered group of primates in the world.
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The Gibbon is a truly unique animal. Gibbons are anthropoids like
humans and gorillas. They look somewhat like the Lemur but it has special features that make it
different from the Lemur. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Gibbons apes come from Southeast Asia and
the island of the Philippines. Some people will get this cool creature confused with

Analysis Of John Hughes s The Tale Of Asylum
Published in March 2016, Asylum is a complex, fractured novel that hovers on the border of reality
and unreality. It is the most recent work by author John Hughes, whose novel The Idea of Home
received the Premier s Award for Nonfiction in 2005. The tale of Asylum is intriguing, a Kafkaesque
allegory that binds the strangeness felt by refugees seeking asylum, with an image of purgatory
borrowed from classical works of fiction. It is split into two acts, and within these acts, multiple
fragments. The reader encounters excerpts from reports and inquiries as well as Legends of both The
Doors and The Place . The landscape of the text is split into three places, Sanctuary , the Doors , and
Place . Its protagonists are Baba and Ash, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this respect, Hughes alienates readers who prefer a linear narrative plot, with characters and
motives that are easy to decipher. Ed Wright (2012) incurred the same issue upon reading Hughes
earlier novel The Remnants. He argues that there are books that can only be fully appreciated once the
real terror of one s own mortality has been felt . His own experience reading Proust before he was able
to full appreciate it returned upon reading The Remnants (Wright 2012). The confusing nature of the
text can be, admittedly, difficult at times to follow. Only upon a second reading can the true meaning
of the text be gaged. The first chapter of Asylum, which introduces Baba, sets the tone for the novel.
The Official , as Hughes calls the character, asks for Baba s name. The reader is able to see inside
Baba s mind, as he comments that he only knew a handful of their words (Hughes 2016, 3). From the
outset there is uncertainty and mystery, as the reader does not know the identity of the Official, just
their title, or the true identity of Baba other than what he tells the Official. Baba then ventures into the
outside world, where he happens upon the Sanctuary , a place that is a temple built to resemble a ruin
(Hughes 2016, 13). It is here that he meets Ash, a barber who wears a white robe, and who tells Baba
when he arrives that he will wear the black. They cut the hair of their clients and listen to their stories,
before the client

Daubert Standards Case Study
After reading the articles, I believe the Daubert standard is the best standard for Florida to move
forward with. While Frye standard and Rule 702 do have qualifications that need to be met for expert
testimony to be used, Daubert standard has in my opinion the best qualification standards that must be
met for expert testimony to be used.
Based on the articles, for expert testimony to go through in the court all a witness needed using the
Frye standard was have whatever technique, principle, or procedure be generally accepted in the
scientific community. I do not feel like this is enough qualifications in any scientific field especially in
the field of forensic science. The procedure or technique used needs to be proved reliable and can give
consistent results, not just be accepted by the community. Also, with the Frye standard no one is
checking and reviewing the witness procedure or technique to see if it s reliable, accurate, or the error
rate for it. It seems the courts just assumed what is being said or shown is correct and deemed it expert
testimony. The Frye standard was limited in the possibility of new ideas and methods since the make
or break of being accepted as expert testimony was reliant on ... Show more content on

This standard follows similar guidelines to what we follow in the laboratory as far as providing
accurate and reliable results to the analysis we do. In the laboratory, we use techniques, procedures,

accepted in the scientific community. Moreover, with that any facts or data that has been gathered
goes through methods that have proven to be reliable and a peer/tech review to make sure the
information/data is correct. I feel if we use these principles or guidelines in the laboratory then we
should use them when it comes to expert

Roxana is the cause for the loss of her children, because she continues to stay with her husband when
he becomes an irresponsible, poor man, indicating how she is a selfish mother. She talks about the

talks about how his business started to decline and that he had to shut down his trade. With five
children, they began to struggle, especially him. Instead of him buying a house and providing for his
family, he neglected it, liv d on as he did before, kept his Horses and Men, rid every Day out to the

Roxana always wanted him to leave, but she thought that if he did, he would starve his family, and he
did. She says, ... I was dreadfully frighted at last, and the more when I look d into my own
Circumstances, and considered the Condition which I was left; with five Children, and not one
Farthing Subsistance for them, other than about seventy Pound in Money, and what few things of
Value I had about me, which, tho considerable in themselves, were yet nothing to feed a Family, and
for a length of Time too (52). Here, she noticed that he is really gone, and now she is scared, because
she cannot take care of her and her children without him. This chain of event connects to her husband
s negligence. Since she made the decision to stay with her husband, despite the hardships that he
placed his family and himself in, he left her. So, she cannot take care of her nor her children because
she is not familiar with being an independent woman living in a male dominant world. This cause
could have been avoided if she were to leave him when she realized that he was becoming broke and
irresponsible; however, she was dependent on him because he made the money and she worked in the
private sphere. Overall, this connects to Hobbes philosophy of the chain of events, because her
husband s negligence and him leaving leads to the next event that brings us closer to the loss of her
children the will, and, because of her husband leaving her, she had to reach out for

This along with a bum who asks for a kiss and a boy who shouts at them to lead him to heaven, give Esperanza, Lucy, and Rachel a small glimpse of what the men see them as sexual objects. • 33. The Lemur and the Gibbon Essay Where did we come from? A question that will always be asked by every human on this planet. Some say that we are of God s creation and some say that we have gone through a long process called evolution and that humans and apes share a single common ancestor. Here I am going to compare and contrast between two of my favorite types of animals: The Lemur and the Gibbon. What is a Lemur? Ask someone that question and you ll be surprised how silly the answer may be. From being a fruit to a body part, it is sad how the general public does not know that the Lemur one of our oldest primates, an order which includes monkeys, apes, and us humans. There are about 32 different types of lemurs on our planet today. They originated from Madagascar, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of them have rings on their tails and are called Ring Tailed Lemurs. They live mostly in trees and are quadrupedal. They use their hands and tails to get from one tree to the other and they live in groups from 3 to 20. And the female lemur is dominant. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Lemurs are known to be very intelligent. They are highly adaptable to our climate and conditions. They eat a lot and try to get a bit fat before the harsh winter arrives. And they have a cool excellent sense of balance. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; But since humans arrived in Madagascar some 1,500 years ago they have been endangered. Sixteen different species of lemurs have gone extinct because of habitat destruction to hunting by humans. I personally think its very unfair because these gentle non aggressive animals were their before humans and even before monkeys. Prosimians first appeared about 55 million years ago while apes been around for only 35 million years. In 1987, World Wildlife International declared that the lemurs are the most gravely endangered group of primates in the world. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The Gibbon is a truly unique animal. Gibbons are anthropoids like humans and gorillas. They look somewhat like the Lemur but it has special features that make it different from the Lemur. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Gibbons apes come from Southeast Asia and the island of the Philippines. Some people will get this cool creature confused with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Analysis Of John Hughes s The Tale Of Asylum Published in March 2016, Asylum is a complex, fractured novel that hovers on the border of reality and unreality. It is the most recent work by author John Hughes, whose novel The Idea of Home received the Premier s Award for Nonfiction in 2005. The tale of Asylum is intriguing, a Kafkaesque allegory that binds the strangeness felt by refugees seeking asylum, with an image of purgatory borrowed from classical works of fiction. It is split into two acts, and within these acts, multiple fragments. The reader encounters excerpts from reports and inquiries as well as Legends of both The Doors and The Place . The landscape of the text is split into three places, Sanctuary , the Doors , and Place . Its protagonists are Baba and Ash, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this respect, Hughes alienates readers who prefer a linear narrative plot, with characters and motives that are easy to decipher. Ed Wright (2012) incurred the same issue upon reading Hughes earlier novel The Remnants. He argues that there are books that can only be fully appreciated once the real terror of one s own mortality has been felt . His own experience reading Proust before he was able to full appreciate it returned upon reading The Remnants (Wright 2012). The confusing nature of the text can be, admittedly, difficult at times to follow. Only upon a second reading can the true meaning of the text be gaged. The first chapter of Asylum, which introduces Baba, sets the tone for the novel. The Official , as Hughes calls the character, asks for Baba s name. The reader is able to see inside Baba s mind, as he comments that he only knew a handful of their words (Hughes 2016, 3). From the outset there is uncertainty and mystery, as the reader does not know the identity of the Official, just their title, or the true identity of Baba other than what he tells the Official. Baba then ventures into the outside world, where he happens upon the Sanctuary , a place that is a temple built to resemble a ruin (Hughes 2016, 13). It is here that he meets Ash, a barber who wears a white robe, and who tells Baba when he arrives that he will wear the black. They cut the hair of their clients and listen to their stories, before the client ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Daubert Standards Case Study After reading the articles, I believe the Daubert standard is the best standard for Florida to move forward with. While Frye standard and Rule 702 do have qualifications that need to be met for expert testimony to be used, Daubert standard has in my opinion the best qualification standards that must be met for expert testimony to be used. Based on the articles, for expert testimony to go through in the court all a witness needed using the Frye standard was have whatever technique, principle, or procedure be generally accepted in the scientific community. I do not feel like this is enough qualifications in any scientific field especially in the field of forensic science. The procedure or technique used needs to be proved reliable and can give consistent results, not just be accepted by the community. Also, with the Frye standard no one is checking and reviewing the witness procedure or technique to see if it s reliable, accurate, or the error rate for it. It seems the courts just assumed what is being said or shown is correct and deemed it expert testimony. The Frye standard was limited in the possibility of new ideas and methods since the make or break of being accepted as expert testimony was reliant on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This standard follows similar guidelines to what we follow in the laboratory as far as providing accurate and reliable results to the analysis we do. In the laboratory, we use techniques, procedures, and instrumentation that not only provide us with accurate and reliable data but have been generally accepted in the scientific community. Moreover, with that any facts or data that has been gathered goes through methods that have proven to be reliable and a peer/tech review to make sure the information/data is correct. I feel if we use these principles or guidelines in the laboratory then we should use them when it comes to expert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Roxana Quotes Roxana is the cause for the loss of her children, because she continues to stay with her husband when he becomes an irresponsible, poor man, indicating how she is a selfish mother. She talks about the different chain of causes, which leads her to the loss of her children. In the beginning of the novel, she talks about how his business started to decline and that he had to shut down his trade. With five children, they began to struggle, especially him. Instead of him buying a house and providing for his family, he neglected it, liv d on as he did before, kept his Horses and Men, rid every Day out to the Forest a Hunting, and nothing was done all this while; but the Money decrease d apace, and [Roxana] thought [she] saw [her] Ruine hastening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Roxana always wanted him to leave, but she thought that if he did, he would starve his family, and he did. She says, ... I was dreadfully frighted at last, and the more when I look d into my own Circumstances, and considered the Condition which I was left; with five Children, and not one Farthing Subsistance for them, other than about seventy Pound in Money, and what few things of Value I had about me, which, tho considerable in themselves, were yet nothing to feed a Family, and for a length of Time too (52). Here, she noticed that he is really gone, and now she is scared, because she cannot take care of her and her children without him. This chain of event connects to her husband s negligence. Since she made the decision to stay with her husband, despite the hardships that he placed his family and himself in, he left her. So, she cannot take care of her nor her children because she is not familiar with being an independent woman living in a male dominant world. This cause could have been avoided if she were to leave him when she realized that he was becoming broke and irresponsible; however, she was dependent on him because he made the money and she worked in the private sphere. Overall, this connects to Hobbes philosophy of the chain of events, because her husband s negligence and him leaving leads to the next event that brings us closer to the loss of her children the will, and, because of her husband leaving her, she had to reach out for ...
