Green And Social Responsibility For Global Warming
Nowadays, people are becoming increasingly aware of environmental protection. Going green is a
term used to refer to a series of process aimed at embracing an environmental and ecologically
friendly lifestyle while at the same time adhering to legal and social norms aimed at practicing the
environments and natural resources. The adoption of gen strategies by governments and most industry
players is informed by the adverse effects of climate change that continue to increase the costs of
production while at the same time accelerating environmental degradation. Currently, the world has
put more emphasis on going green and embracing socially responsible approaches. The rising costs of
climate change and the debilitating effects of global warming have been the main reasons for the
vibrant state of going green and socially responsibility conventions in the world. Startling statics about
climate change have informed the need to embrace sustainable approaches in business and governance
as a way of mitigation. To justify the vibrant state of going green and social responsibility in the world
today, one has to revisit the grim statics associate with global warming (Stewart, 2014). Studies have
revealed that at least 45 percent of the world s population is adversely affected by climate change. The
effects of this global phenomenon are evenly distributed across all the continents of the world. From
Australia to Texas, droughts are systematically becoming common environmental phenomena.

Candidiasis
Introduction
Candidiasis refers to the fungal infection caused by any Candida which is a form of yeast. There are
more than 20 species of candida yeast that might cause illnesses in people, but the common Candida
species is the Candida albicans (Hospenthal Rinaldi, 2015). However, the yeasts are found in small
amounts in the mucous membrane and skin, and they do not cause infection, but the overgrowth
would lead to infection. Specific drugs and health issues may cause the yeast to overgrow especially in
warm and moist body parts leading dangerous symptoms. The signs and symptoms of candidiasis
depend on the part of the human body that is infected (Contreras Fuentes, 2013). Health centers in
many nations have reported that Candida species cause fungal infections leading to hospitalization of
patients. The paper focuses on candidiasis by exploring its causes, epidemiology, types, diagnosis and
treatment as well as prevention measures and risk factors. The thesis of the paper is that candidiasis is
a fatal disease that can lead to defects and even death.
Epidemiology
In the United States, Candida is the third cause of nosocomial bloodstream diseases accounting for
about 8 10 percent of the cases. Moreover, three quarter of females in America experience vaginitis
during their life with 25 percent caused by Candida (Contreras Fuentes, 2013). The invasive
candidiasis is the prominent infection among all fungal diseases since it accounts 70 to 90 percent of

Analysis Of Storm Warnings By Adrienne Rich
No storm is experienced the same. Seeing a storm on the horizon has the power to stir up gripping
memories, introspective thoughts, and convoluted emotions. The poem Storm Warnings , by Adrienne
Rich, applies a predictable structure paired with flowing syntax, and ambiguous diction speaking both
of weather and emotions to illustrate that one cannot avoid the tribulations of life, embodied as the
approaching storm, but instead prepare for their arrival. Storm Warnings, true to its literal subject
matter, possesses flowy sweeping syntax created by the strategic use of commas and phrasing to draw
parallels between the physical oncoming winds and the gales of life. The author crafts a long run on
sentence that spans the first stanza and carries on into the latter portion of the second to mirror the
continuous flowing of windy weather and the forward motion of life. Once the speaker notices the
brewing storm, they walk from window to closed window, watching boughs strain against the sky. In
this portion of the affromented run on sentence, alliteration, rhythm, and the repetition of words all
contribute to the impression of movement. The various w sounds at the beginnings of words and the
repetition of the word window create a sensation of continuously flowing forward, especially when
read aloud; the comma adds a small swirling pause to the rhythm, which is then soon after resumed
with the word watching. Just as the poem rhythmically moves forward with its long phrases connected
with frequent commas, so must life carry on with each additional experience, whether it be
misfortunes or joys. The elongated syntax allows all these elements to work together within sentences
to highlight the similarities between physical storms and emotional struggle and to stress the
inevitability of predicaments in life.
Despite the flowing syntax, the poem has a clear and predictable structure to replicate the persona s
calm familiarity with experiencing and answering to storms in their life. It is interesting to note that
even though parlous weather is on its way, there is a lack of panic, chaos, and anomalies in the
structure of the poem. There continues to be seven lines in each stanza throughout the piece;

In the coming future the use and application of Information Operations are going to be necessary in

Hadyn Roberts CONTRACT DISPUTES REACH 15 YEAR HIGH , was the heading of an article
published, December 1, 2010 in the Government Executive. The heading in itself tells us that the
government is doing more and more business by contract and as a result contractors who are lobbying
for government business have become more aware of their rights to file disputes when it involves a
loss of potential business. Because of this increase in disputes, the government must have a method of

A Parliamentary Government Is A Form Of Government
A parliamentary government is a form of government that consists of two different systems. The
legislative system and the executive. The supremacy of the legislative government has been replaced
with a cabinet and has since been called a cabinet government. A parliamentary system has a head of
state, also known as the president in some countries. According to Shively, 2014, the president or head
of state is merely symbolic and only carries out ceremonial functions and has no governmental
control.
Description of India s Parliament
Indian Parliament is the highest legislative body of India. The parliament is comprised of the President

Isolation In Frankenstein
Throughout the course of the novel, Shelley isolated Frankenstein countless times to develop his
character. Isolation is the process to be or remain alone or apart from others. Due to seclusion,
Frankenstein not only became socially isolated, but also quite lonely. The first moment we see
Frankenstein being isolated is when he is engrossed in reading the past alchemists books, and
wondering about the universe and the human mind; this small remoteness begins before he travels to
Ingolstadt for university. This seclusion does not depress him, neither does it make him socially inept,

Emancipation Of Women In Othello Essay
Othello, one of William Shakespeare s classics, is an intricate play written on the life of a soldier in
the sixteenth century, set in the backdrop of a war between Venice and Turkey. This century, referred
to as Renaissance (the era of re birth), marks the emancipation of women. Plays in the Renaissance
featured women who would break the rules and stand up for themselves, their honor. This was the era
where plays portrayed women trying to come to power, overthrowing the concept of power being only
with stereotypical men. All the plays of Shakespeare during this period featured a tragic heroine;
trying to bring justices to themselves may it be Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet or King Lear. The

ABSTRACT/SYNOPSIS
A firewall is a product that sets up a security border whose primary undertaking is to piece or limit
both approaching and active data over a system. These firewalls are fundamentally not compelling and
suitable for professional workplaces to keep up security of data while it bolsters the free trade of
perspectives. In this paper, i think about system firewall that helps the professional workplace and
alternate systems that need to trade data over the system. A firewall ensures the stream of activity over

It ensures protection by standing amongst system and the outside world. The information move in any
direction must go through the firewall.
3.0 TYPES OF FIREWALLS :
There are various types of technique which might be executed by a firewall. Some of them are as per
the following:
Packet channel
Application gateway
Circuit level gateway
Proxy server
3.1 PACKET FILTER:
It focuses at one packet at once and after that it applies some set of guidelines to every packet and
afterwards it chooses to either forward the packet or dispose the packet. The standards depend on
various fields in the IP and TCP/UDP headers i.e. Source and destination address, IP protocol field,
TCP/UDP port number.
Attackers can break the security with the assistance of following techniques:
IP ADDRESS SPOOFING : In this kind of attack, attackers send a packet to inside network, by setting
source
IP address equals to IP address of inside client.
SOURCE ROUTING ATTACKS: Here attackers determine the route that is trailed by the packet to
move along the web with the goal that packet filter can be tricked to sidestep its normal checks.
Solution: The solution of this attack is disposed of all packets that use this alternative.
Advantages:
It is Simple to execute.
Low hardware cost, shabby boxes can do packet filtering.
Rules set are less complex.

Genetic Testing And Identification Of Dna Extraction
Introduction.
Extracting DNA from available cells is a widely used practice with applications such as forensics,
genetic testing and victim identification to name a few. DNA extractions have been widely practiced
for decades. This report simply summarises our results comparing two methods.
The tests compared the effectiveness of the often cited salting out method based on Sunnucks and
Hales (1996) method of DNA extraction from aphids, with a science at home style method of DNA
extraction according to the NHGRI s video how to extract DNA from strawberries (2010)
This made use of household detergent as a surfactant to allow the DNA out of the cell and its contents.
This method is cheaper to run, not involving costlier laboratory chemicals like Proteinase K. (Ciulla,
Sklar and Hauser, 1988, page 488)
Each requires high precision to differentiate between samples from different individuals, and it is ideal
to produce accurate results from a small sample. The sample must consist only of DNA for gel
electrophoresis to give proper results, containing no protein or lipid impurities.
The samples must be pure to be comparable, something that the YouTube method cannot offer with
reliability due to not using Proteinase K, which was applied early in the salting out method to denature
proteins for later removal.
The YouTube method is predicted to obtain DNA, but not with the same consistency or accuracy as
the salting out method, due to the lack of time and

2 Aminoanthraquinone Synthesis Lab Report
SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF AMTPAA The amine group of 2 Aminoanthraquinone undergoes Schiff
condensation with carbonyl group of 4 (N,N Diphenylamino) benzaldehyde along with the formation
of water as byproduct. AMTPAA has extended conjugation because of which it can be used as a hole
transport material (HTM). 2 Aminoantharquinone (AAQ) has an absorption peak at 402 nm in UV
spectroscopy which is attributed to the π π* transition of the atomic C=C ring and n π* transition of
C=O bond. 2 Azomethine 4 triphenyl amino anthraquinone (AMTPAA) has an absorption peak at
411nm.
The red shift of 9 nm observed in AMTPAA can be attributed to the extended conjugation which is a
direct consequence of the electron withdrawing azo methane bond and planar conformation of the
azomethane based backbone resulting in electronic push pull effect. An asymmetrical band with broad
shoulder peak towards shorter wavelength (around 340 350 nm) was observed due to the overlapping
with another band of the conjugated structures. As the shoulder peak has weak absorption in the
visible region these compounds will not hinder sunlight from efficiently reaching the light absorbing

1. OVERVIEW
The exact way in which millions of developing children get to the point where they can produce and
understand millions of words and make sentences out of it is the subject of a heated debate in the
psycholinguistic field. According to Saxton (2010,p.18), the study on how children learn language can
be traced back to the German biologist, Tiedermann, in 1787. However, up until the late 1950 s, it is
generally agreed that approach to child language research is at best haphazardly organized. Research
for example was often limited to a generally informal observations (for example research done by
Lukens,1894) or diary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This time, the rat only received food if it pressed the bar a certain number of times. After initial
confusion, it learned to do this also (Aitchison,2008,pp.8 9). This type of learning is called operant
conditioning by Skinner which can be translated as training by means of voluntary responses (the
word operant means a voluntary response rather than an automatic one) and Skinner suggested that a
vast majority of human learning take place via this mode, including learning of
language(,Aitchison,2008,p.9). In his book Verbal Behaviour, Skinner argued that child efforts to
speak are rewarded by parents. Each time the child produces an utterances that comes close to
sounding like an acceptable word or sentence, the parent offers a reward in the form of praise or
encouragement. As this conditioning goes on, the closer the child gets to the adult model of utterance
the more parental rewards that he/she gets. Thus, the operant conditioning relies on the learner
producing a linguistic behaviour that is progressively shaped through rewards, until the desired
behaviour is achieved (Saxton,2010,p.90). Skinner s explanation of language acquisition soon inspired
a critique and rival explanation from Noam Chomsky. Chomsky argued in some detail that
mechanisms such as stimulus, response and reinforcement which are favoured by the behaviourists are
not sufficient to explain verbal bahaviour. In this regard, Chomsky pivotal

One Hundred Years Of Solitude Masculinity Essay

Interrogating masculinity in female characters of Garcia Marquez s One Hundred Years of Solitude
Masculinity is a common theme in Latin American literature. The same is true about the works of
Garcia Marquez. Machismo and patriarchy are subthemes of several of his creations, including his
masterpiece, One Hundred Years of Solitude.
However, theorists such as J. Hearn and A. Petersen have argued that the concept of masculinity is
blurred. According to them it tends to not only over simplify the characters of men but also imposes
on them few behavioral attributes which men are expected to conform to. Also, it generalizes the male
and female differences depending upon biological, cultural, and economical scales and ignores the
active role of women in society.
Conversely, although there is a strong sense of masculinity in Marquez s men, yet on closer look one
would see that male characters of Marquez are actually victims of hegemonic masculinity who behave
keeping with the norms set by society on them. Interestingly, on the other hand, Marquez actually
challenges the traditional concepts associated with maleness by showing characteristics of masculinity
in female characters. At times his female characters show extreme sense of violence, ... Show more

Mad Dogs, Englishmen, and the Errant Anthropologist Essay
Mad Dogs, Englishmen, and the Errant Anthropologist Reflection
In his book Mad Dogs, English, and the Errant Anthropologist, Raybeck discusses his observations as
he immerses himself in Wakaf Bharu, a city in the state of Kelantan, Malaysia. Throughout the
ethnography, he discusses the various differences that he observes with the Kelantanese culture and
the American culture, while using his prior knowledge to explain the observations he takes note of. By
using these observations, Raybeck proceeds to answer different Naturalistic Questions which explain
how Raybeck gathers the information and in what ways his studies impact the culture. Then, he
elaborates on the economical aspect of the culture he studies, explaining how relationships ... Show

Friends such as Yusof, Cik Din, and Encik Hussein aided him in giving a tour of the village,
explaining certain customs that he was not aware of, giving him their life stories, allowing him to
interview them as key informants, individuals who have a great rapport towards the fieldworker
(Omohundro 64), and letting Raybeck accompany them to social events so that he could study the
social behavior of the natives. As time passes by, his increased participation in the Kelantanese culture
results in a greater rapport within the village. Once incident that really shows this acquired rapport
was when he was studying the lives of the prostitutes in the nearby capital, Kota Bharu. A villager
who asks him for a ride to the barbershop but detours to the nearest whorehouse, only to be seen by
Raybeck. When the villager realizes that Raybeck caught him in the act, he proceeds in lying, trying to
establish a reason for this sudden detour. Raybeck notes how this scene starts to show how his status
changing from being an outsider through the act of lying, because He notices the change immediately
as described from this section and it shows how a simple act of lying was able to show Raybeck s
increasing rapport vividly. The challenges the Raybeck faces are the ethical issues involving the
reporting of certain information. Personal information that came from the villagers

Burnout Or Compassion Fatigue
Vicarious trauma is also known as compassion fatigue and is often associated with the cost of caring
for others (Figley, 1982). Other terms used to describe this phenomenon are secondary trauma, stress
or secondary victimization (figley, 1982). At the heart of this issue, is that social workers, therapists,
first responders, volunteers, that work with trauma victims/survivors can experience vicarious trauma,
or compassion fatigue because of the work they do, and love. Compassion fatigue is the emotional
residue from the exposure of hearing trauma stories over and over until your heart and head is full
until the caller/client s trauma becomes your experience too. You cannot hear story after story and
remain unaffected. As your callers/clients experience a daily repetition of trauma, so will you .Being a
witness to pain, loss, fear, terror or injustice that the caller/client is living through and has to endure
will eventually effect all of us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The day comes and you think you cannot hear one more story of trauma. This is not a sign of burnout
but of compassion fatigue. It s a signal to you that it is time to step back and do self care. Burnout and
compassion fatigue are often confused as the same thing. The difference between them is that burnout
builds up gradually over time and resolves itself when the volunteer or practitioner takes a break or
goes to other work, even in the same field. Vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue is a state of
tension, stress and preoccupation with the stories and traumatic experiences described and endured by
callers/clients. Triggering your own potential traumas or experiences and looping back and forth
between your callers/clients stories and your own until there is no objective place to witness

The Middle East State System
Course overview
This course aims to educate students regarding the modern (post 1970) trajectory of US foreign policy
in regards the Middle East, and how such policy has influenced the Middle East state system. Both in
recent history and presently, the US role in the region has been pivotal in shaping the regional system
as well as ensuring the stability of the regional status quo. The various interests that drive US foreign
policy in the region will be examined.
The US, of course, does not implement its foreign policy in a void, and therefore gaining a
background on the regional state and non state actors that the US must grapple with is vital. The
regional dynamics which affected the US position in the region, such as the Arab Spring, also must be
accounted for in any thorough description of the formulation of US policy.
To account for these factors, the course utilizes both a chronological approach to the historical
development of US foreign policy toward the region, as well as including substantial background on
the important regional actors with which the US interacts with. Finally, it includes a select few
readings related to theoretical concepts in International Relations to provide a context for analysis of
policy. All these elements should grant students a well rounded comprehension of the various factors
which influence the Middle East state system and related US foreign policy.
Through this course, students should gain a fuller understanding of the role that the

Captain Cook Research Paper
Captain James Cook and the Discovery of Hawaii On January eighteenth between 1492 and 1865,
according to on this day.com, there were two important historical events in America: Captain James
Cook discovered the Hawaiian Islands in 1778 and Thomas Jefferson sought authorization for the first
official exploration by the U.S. government in 1803. I did not know anything about either of these two
topics, so given these choices, I picked Captain James Cook discovering Hawaii because it was what I
found more interesting. Captain James Cook, as a pioneer explorer was a very respected man from
everywhere, even the places that were tense with Britain at the time ( 10 Things You May Not Know
About Captain James Cook 2018). He was a very popular expeditioner ... Show more content on

His first expedition was on August 26, 1768 and the purpose of this was to observe the planet Venus
while it passed the earth and sun (which was a very rare event that was only visible in the southern
hemisphere); he did this to help astronomers calculate the distance of the sun from the Earth. His
second expedition was a secret mission from the British government and a hidden military agenda;
this was a sealed order instructing him to find the Great Southern Continent, (currently Antarctica)
which was an undiscovered landmass that was believed to be somewhere near the bottom of the globe.
He had to take two ships called the Adventure and the Resolution. To travel there, he had to go below
seventy degrees latitude, which was the furthest any European has explored. However, he did not find
it because he had to go back due to ice and weather conditions. Although he did not find the Great
Southern Continent, he did make an accomplishment while he was there he was the first to cross the
Atlantic Circle. The U.K. National Archives wrote, James Cook left Britain a great legacy of
knowledge about foreign lands, solved the question of the southern continent and provided a map of
much of the Pacific for those that followed him... His exploration of places that were formerly
unknown in Britain, and his territorial claims, made a major contribution to the growth of the British
empire. This expedition was what he was

The Flaws of Non-Governmental Organizations in Developing...
The role of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the world today has been increasingly
questioned in recent literature as people begin to recognize the flaws of our development aid industry.
The article NGOs A Tainted History by Firoze Manji and Carl O Coill explores the history of the rise
of NGOs in Africa in order to demonstrate that their aim is to control and colonize Africa. Similarly,
the novel Damned Nations: Geed, Guns, Armies Aid by Samantha Nutt emphasizes the patriarchal
tendencies of the aid industry and the influences of the political objectives of donor countries with
descriptions of her first hand experiences on the field. With the articles Challenging Indifference to
Extreme Poverty: Considering Southern Perspectives on Global Citizenship and Change by Barbara
Heron and International NGOs and the Aid Industry: constraints on international Solidarity by Molly
Kane in mind, I considered the effects and roles of NGOs as development organizations and
instruments of change. Whereas the compilation of stories in Generation NGO, edited by Alisha Apale
and Valerie Stam, recollected individual experiences of development workers, highlighting the moral
and ethical challenges they faced day to day. Analysis of the abovementioned readings allowed me to
conclude that NGOs are destructive in the developing countries in which they are situated because
they impose colonialist influences, are biased towards their political supporters, are ineffective when

NMR and melting point determination were methods used to verify the identity of the starting

Some of the aromatic protons were hard to distinguish due to their overlapping nature and resonance.
At the same time, there was still enough evidence to verify that the unknown aldehyde was p
anisaldehyde using the number of signals, the chemical shifts, the proton integration, and the splitting
patterns. The expected number of signals was roughly 5 peaks, however there were some impurities
present in the NMR spectrum. The aromatic region contained the peaks of Hb and Hc with a chemical
shift and an integration value of 7.570 and 6.931 ppm respectfully. With that, the protons Hd and He
were very distinguishable from the rest of the spectrum due to their large J value of 16. This J value
sign indicates that there are alkene protons that are Trans to each other. Normal alkene protons show
up in the NMR spectrum around 4 6. Because protons Hd and He are in an extended conjugation
system (right next to the benzene ring), their signals may overlap with others in that region. However,
they can still be distinguished. Hd was determined to be more downfield because it is next to a
benzene ring and has more of an ability to resonate as opposed to He . Hd was the most up field, a
singlet, and had a chemical shift and integration value of 7.697 ppm and 0.96 respectfully. He was the
more upfield one and had a chemical shift and integration value of 6.975 ppm and

In this essay I am going to be discussing and assessing how the Barbie Doll which is a toy for

how this relates to other larger contexts like class, gender, race, disability and faith. Below I have

I believe that Barbie has changed massively over the years in skin colour, hair colour and sizes. Piaget
has created the theory of learning through play. He says children engage themselves In imaginative
play which means that if they see a story or characters they are most likely to imitate them and what
they do. When children imitate others they develop a vocabulary which allows them to name the
world around them. This relates to dolls because if a child is given a doll which moves and does things
around a doll house like cleaning, a child will imitate that around the house and act like a house wife
like the doll. This shows that dolls are created in that way to leave a image in the child s head on what
a girl does when she grows up, likewise how the dolls have changed, whilst children grow older they

On the first of November I visited the Performance Art Center, on Texas State University s campus.
There I saw the Texas State Jazz Ensemble perform with guest, Steve Houghton. The performance
began at 7:30pm and lasted for an approximate hour and a half. As I observed the stage I noticed that
there were a variety of instruments played in the jazz ensemble. The instruments that were played
included string (grand piano, electric guitar, electric bass, bass), brass (trumpet, trombone, French
horn), woodwind (tenor sax, alto sax, baritone sax) and percussion instruments (six piece drum set,
bongos). On the drum set was, special guest, Steve Houghton from the music school of Iowa. Overall,
there were several different pieces of different sub genres of jazz music. The pieces that were played
in the ensemble included the following: Slide s Derangement by Slide Hampton, BBC by Bob
Florence, Dangerous Curves by Matt Harris, Blues for 70 by John Clayton, Jazz Crimes by Joshua
Reden, Isotope by Joe Henderson, Basie s Back in Town by Ernie Wilkins. Each piece named above
had its own uniqueness. The characteristics of each musical piece will be described below: Slide s
Derangement started off with a solo performed by an alto sax. There were also solos performed by a
trumpet and the drums. Each solo was accompanied by a melodic repetition of numerous crescendos
performed by brass and woodwind instruments. The drums and the rhythm kept the upbeat tempo by
the string instruments. The

Hope Is The Thing With Feathers By Emily Dickinson
Analyzing Birds and Hopes in Hope is the thing with feathers Is hope a thing with feathers? Hard to
believe it, right? Hope is the thing with feathers is one of the best well known poems of Emily
Dickinson. An inspiring story, connecting the significance of hope with a bird that it s permanently
perching the soul of every human. The author of this poem, Emily Dickinson, wrote this extended
metaphor in 1862. Only seven poems from 1800 poems that she wrote got published when she was
alive. This poem has a very good use of the language, different types of rhythm, and stands out the
word Hope which reminds all of us that no matter how are the circumstances if you are singing and
have hopes you can change the consequences. I will analyze the use of symbolism and language that
Emily Dickinson uses in Hope is the thing with feathers to convey the setting and the theme of the
poem. Establishing the poem s theme, the speaker begins: Hope is the thing with feathers That perches
in the soul And sings the tune without the words And never stops at all . (Dickinson lines 1 4) ... Show

What Dickinson is doing in these two first lines are giving emphasis with the use of a bird to
symbolize freedom and to make you realize that hope is always there, in your heart. In the last two
lines of the first stanza, the speaker focuses in what the bird does: sings the tunes without the words
(Dickinson line 3), meaning that hope is endless, and it will remain on you forever. The bird singing in
the soul it s a perfect example of Dickinson s homiletic style. Her language through the first stanza is
vivid and gentle, and it captions the attention of the reader using metaphors (lines 1 3),
personifications (line 2 and 3), slant rhymes and

The Tragedy of Commercialism in College Sports
Over the past 25 years, ESPN has become the master when it comes to marketing college basketball.
They re the professionals of this amateur game. Earlier this spring ESPN and its spinoffs ESPN2,
ESPNU and ESPN Classic aired a record 97 conference tournament men s basketball games over an
eight day period, including 16 games broadcast from 10 different locations on March 12 (Hiestand).
For fans of the sport ESPN has become a college hoops haven. CBS may garner the most attention for

ESPN has made superstars out of college basketball coaches and even TV analysts like Dick Vitale.
The station has created national followings for some of the sports elite programs. Want to watch
Duke? Just flip on ESPN or ESPN2, where the Blue Devils had 16 of their regular season games
televised last season (Timmermann). The relationship that ESPN has forged with college basketball is
both symbiotic and parasitic. The mutual benefit is obvious; ESPN has successfully launched itself as
a primer cable sports network and thanks to the network, college basketball has become one of the
most profitable collegiate sports, rivaling the once invincible college football. But ESPN has built its
empire off the labor of unpaid college athletes. The increasing dollar amount of TV contracts and
growing commercialism in college basketball is proof that ESPN is willing to exploit amateur athletes
in the name of increasing profit margins. With no other network and no other sport is this symbiotic
and parasitic relationship between media and college athletics made more apparent.
In today s media saturated culture, sports programming has become a big business. The sporting

  • 2. Green And Social Responsibility For Global Warming Nowadays, people are becoming increasingly aware of environmental protection. Going green is a term used to refer to a series of process aimed at embracing an environmental and ecologically friendly lifestyle while at the same time adhering to legal and social norms aimed at practicing the environments and natural resources. The adoption of gen strategies by governments and most industry players is informed by the adverse effects of climate change that continue to increase the costs of production while at the same time accelerating environmental degradation. Currently, the world has put more emphasis on going green and embracing socially responsible approaches. The rising costs of climate change and the debilitating effects of global warming have been the main reasons for the vibrant state of going green and socially responsibility conventions in the world. Startling statics about climate change have informed the need to embrace sustainable approaches in business and governance as a way of mitigation. To justify the vibrant state of going green and social responsibility in the world today, one has to revisit the grim statics associate with global warming (Stewart, 2014). Studies have revealed that at least 45 percent of the world s population is adversely affected by climate change. The effects of this global phenomenon are evenly distributed across all the continents of the world. From Australia to Texas, droughts are systematically becoming common environmental phenomena. ... • 3. Types, Diagnosis, And Treatment Candidiasis Introduction Candidiasis refers to the fungal infection caused by any Candida which is a form of yeast. There are more than 20 species of candida yeast that might cause illnesses in people, but the common Candida species is the Candida albicans (Hospenthal Rinaldi, 2015). However, the yeasts are found in small amounts in the mucous membrane and skin, and they do not cause infection, but the overgrowth would lead to infection. Specific drugs and health issues may cause the yeast to overgrow especially in warm and moist body parts leading dangerous symptoms. The signs and symptoms of candidiasis depend on the part of the human body that is infected (Contreras Fuentes, 2013). Health centers in many nations have reported that Candida species cause fungal infections leading to hospitalization of patients. The paper focuses on candidiasis by exploring its causes, epidemiology, types, diagnosis and treatment as well as prevention measures and risk factors. The thesis of the paper is that candidiasis is a fatal disease that can lead to defects and even death. Epidemiology In the United States, Candida is the third cause of nosocomial bloodstream diseases accounting for about 8 10 percent of the cases. Moreover, three quarter of females in America experience vaginitis during their life with 25 percent caused by Candida (Contreras Fuentes, 2013). The invasive candidiasis is the prominent infection among all fungal diseases since it accounts 70 to 90 percent of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Storm Warnings By Adrienne Rich No storm is experienced the same. Seeing a storm on the horizon has the power to stir up gripping memories, introspective thoughts, and convoluted emotions. The poem Storm Warnings , by Adrienne Rich, applies a predictable structure paired with flowing syntax, and ambiguous diction speaking both of weather and emotions to illustrate that one cannot avoid the tribulations of life, embodied as the approaching storm, but instead prepare for their arrival. Storm Warnings, true to its literal subject matter, possesses flowy sweeping syntax created by the strategic use of commas and phrasing to draw parallels between the physical oncoming winds and the gales of life. The author crafts a long run on sentence that spans the first stanza and carries on into the latter portion of the second to mirror the continuous flowing of windy weather and the forward motion of life. Once the speaker notices the brewing storm, they walk from window to closed window, watching boughs strain against the sky. In this portion of the affromented run on sentence, alliteration, rhythm, and the repetition of words all contribute to the impression of movement. The various w sounds at the beginnings of words and the repetition of the word window create a sensation of continuously flowing forward, especially when read aloud; the comma adds a small swirling pause to the rhythm, which is then soon after resumed with the word watching. Just as the poem rhythmically moves forward with its long phrases connected with frequent commas, so must life carry on with each additional experience, whether it be misfortunes or joys. The elongated syntax allows all these elements to work together within sentences to highlight the similarities between physical storms and emotional struggle and to stress the inevitability of predicaments in life. Despite the flowing syntax, the poem has a clear and predictable structure to replicate the persona s calm familiarity with experiencing and answering to storms in their life. It is interesting to note that even though parlous weather is on its way, there is a lack of panic, chaos, and anomalies in the structure of the poem. There continues to be seven lines in each stanza throughout the piece; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Isolation is the process to be or remain alone or apart from others. Due to seclusion, Frankenstein not only became socially isolated, but also quite lonely. The first moment we see Frankenstein being isolated is when he is engrossed in reading the past alchemists books, and wondering about the universe and the human mind; this small remoteness begins before he travels to Ingolstadt for university. This century, referred to as Renaissance (the era of re birth), marks the emancipation of women. Plays in the Renaissance featured women who would break the rules and stand up for themselves, their honor. This was the era where plays portrayed women trying to come to power, overthrowing the concept of power being only with stereotypical men. All the plays of Shakespeare during this period featured a tragic heroine; trying to bring justices to themselves may it be Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet or King Lear. The standards depend on various fields in the IP and TCP/UDP headers i.e. Source and destination address, IP protocol field, TCP/UDP port number. Attackers can break the security with the assistance of following techniques: IP ADDRESS SPOOFING : In this kind of attack, attackers send a packet to inside network, by setting source IP address equals to IP address of inside client. SOURCE ROUTING ATTACKS: Here attackers determine the route that is trailed by the packet to move along the web with the goal that packet filter can be tricked to sidestep its normal checks. Solution: The solution of this attack is disposed of all packets that use this alternative. Advantages: It is Simple to execute. Low hardware cost, shabby boxes can do packet filtering. Extracting DNA from available cells is a widely used practice with applications such as forensics, genetic testing and victim identification to name a few. DNA extractions have been widely practiced for decades. This report simply summarises our results comparing two methods. The tests compared the effectiveness of the often cited salting out method based on Sunnucks and Hales (1996) method of DNA extraction from aphids, with a science at home style method of DNA extraction according to the NHGRI s video how to extract DNA from strawberries (2010) This made use of household detergent as a surfactant to allow the DNA out of the cell and its contents. This method is cheaper to run, not involving costlier laboratory chemicals like Proteinase K. (Ciulla, Sklar and Hauser, 1988, page 488) Each requires high precision to differentiate between samples from different individuals, and it is ideal to produce accurate results from a small sample. The sample must consist only of DNA for gel electrophoresis to give proper results, containing no protein or lipid impurities. The samples must be pure to be comparable, something that the YouTube method cannot offer with reliability due to not using Proteinase K, which was applied early in the salting out method to denature proteins for later removal. AMTPAA has extended conjugation because of which it can be used as a hole transport material (HTM). 2 Aminoantharquinone (AAQ) has an absorption peak at 402 nm in UV spectroscopy which is attributed to the π π* transition of the atomic C=C ring and n π* transition of C=O bond. 2 Azomethine 4 triphenyl amino anthraquinone (AMTPAA) has an absorption peak at 411nm. The red shift of 9 nm observed in AMTPAA can be attributed to the extended conjugation which is a direct consequence of the electron withdrawing azo methane bond and planar conformation of the azomethane based backbone resulting in electronic push pull effect. An asymmetrical band with broad shoulder peak towards shorter wavelength (around 340 350 nm) was observed due to the overlapping with another band of the conjugated structures. OVERVIEW The exact way in which millions of developing children get to the point where they can produce and understand millions of words and make sentences out of it is the subject of a heated debate in the psycholinguistic field. According to Saxton (2010,p.18), the study on how children learn language can be traced back to the German biologist, Tiedermann, in 1787. However, up until the late 1950 s, it is generally agreed that approach to child language research is at best haphazardly organized. This time, the rat only received food if it pressed the bar a certain number of times. After initial confusion, it learned to do this also (Aitchison,2008,pp.8 9). This type of learning is called operant conditioning by Skinner which can be translated as training by means of voluntary responses (the word operant means a voluntary response rather than an automatic one) and Skinner suggested that a vast majority of human learning take place via this mode, including learning of language(,Aitchison,2008,p.9). In his book Verbal Behaviour, Skinner argued that child efforts to speak are rewarded by parents. Each time the child produces an utterances that comes close to sounding like an acceptable word or sentence, the parent offers a reward in the form of praise or encouragement. As this conditioning goes on, the closer the child gets to the adult model of utterance the more parental rewards that he/she gets. Thus, the operant conditioning relies on the learner producing a linguistic behaviour that is progressively shaped through rewards, until the desired behaviour is achieved (Saxton,2010,p.90). Skinner s explanation of language acquisition soon inspired a critique and rival explanation from Noam Chomsky. Chomsky argued in some detail that mechanisms such as stimulus, response and reinforcement which are favoured by the behaviourists are not sufficient to explain verbal bahaviour. One Hundred Years Of Solitude Masculinity Essay Sanchaiyata Majumdar Interrogating masculinity in female characters of Garcia Marquez s One Hundred Years of Solitude Masculinity is a common theme in Latin American literature. The same is true about the works of Garcia Marquez. Machismo and patriarchy are subthemes of several of his creations, including his masterpiece, One Hundred Years of Solitude. However, theorists such as J. Hearn and A. Petersen have argued that the concept of masculinity is blurred. According to them it tends to not only over simplify the characters of men but also imposes on them few behavioral attributes which men are expected to conform to. Also, it generalizes the male and female differences depending upon biological, cultural, and economical scales and ignores the active role of women in society. Conversely, although there is a strong sense of masculinity in Marquez s men, yet on closer look one would see that male characters of Marquez are actually victims of hegemonic masculinity who behave keeping with the norms set by society on them. Interestingly, on the other hand, Marquez actually challenges the traditional concepts associated with maleness by showing characteristics of masculinity in female characters.
