Sources of Business Finance
Q 1. Discuss about different Sources of Business Finance.
Different Sources of Business Finance
Business is concerned with the production and distribution of goods and services for the satisfaction of
needs of society. For carrying out various activities, business requires money. Finance, therefore, is
called the life blood of any business. A business cannot function unless adequate funds are made
available to it. The initial capital contributed by the entrepreneur is not always sufficient to take care
of all financial requirements of the business. A business person, therefore, has to look for different
other sources from where the need for funds can be met. A business can raise funds from various
sources. Each of the sources has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, through their right to vote, these shareholders have a right to participate in the management.
However, equity shares also carry more risk.
2. Preference Shares
The capital raised by issue of preference shares is called preference share capital. The preference
shareholders enjoy a preferential position over equity shareholders in two ways: (i) receiving a fixed
rate of dividend, out of the net profits of the company, before any dividend is declared for equity
shareholders; and (ii) receiving their capital after the claims of the company s creditors have been
settled, at the time of liquidation. In other words, as compared to the equity shareholders, the
preference shareholders have a preferential claim over dividend and repayment of capital. Preference
shares have some characteristics of both equity shares and debentures. Preference shareholders
generally do not enjoy any voting rights. Investments in these shares are safe, and a preference
shareholder also gets dividend regularly.
3. Debentures
Debentures are an important instrument for raising long term debt capital. Whenever a company wants
to borrow a large amount of fund for a long but fixed period, it can borrow from the general public by
issuing loan certificates called Debentures.
A company can raise funds through issue of debentures, which bear a fixed rate of interest. A
debenture is issued under the common

Doll House
In A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen, a woman named Nora is facing a life altering situation that stands
to both ruin her social and private life. In dealing with the potential outcomes of the scenario, Nora
comes to find that she has been living a convenient mistruth. Nora s greatest and most damaging lies
are lies she tells to herself.
As is seen numerous times throughout the play, Nora hides, withholds, and distorts the truth in order
to please everyone around her, including herself. Nora is presented almost immediately as a person of
questionable character, wherein the first scene she conceals from Torvald having eaten macaroons.
Torvald says to Nora Not even a bite at a macaroon? after suggesting she had been to the
confectionaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This false reality is damaging her ability to be honest, trustworthy and reliable.
Nora s false reality is partially created because she never forms an opinion of her own. Nora is always
afraid of having an opinion because it will disrupt or upset her husband. Nora s life as an adult is
stunted because she isn t her own person. Nora states that when I was at home with papa, he told me
his opinion about everything, and so I had the same opinions; and if I differed from him I concealed
the fact, because he would not have liked it (III.141) and that I was simply transferred from papa s
hands into yours. You arranged everything according to your own taste, and so I got the same tastes as
your else I pretended to (III. 142). Nora is a woman made to be a doll, and she plays the role with lies
and misdeeds. Nora again demonstrates the lack of opinion.
Nora s life as a deceptive doll is further showcased by the dangerous decisions she makes. Nora takes
out a fraudulent loan against her father s name because she wants something and cannot have it. Nora
realizes the burden her actions can put against her father s name and she realizes the legal action that
can result from fraud. Krogstad, Nora s lender states but did it never occur to you that you were
committing a fraud on me? (II.52). Nora replies that I couldn t take that into account; I didn t trouble
myself about you at all (II.52). Again, when Nora is presented with an opportunity to make a poor
choice

Aboriginal Treatment Of Native People
The treatment of native peoples all around the world has been a major issue for generations. This
essay will show you how both the Indigenous Australians and Native Americans were treated from the
first settlement of white peoples in their land up until now. It will assess how the system worked, the
rights of the native peoples, why the system was the way it was, and how it impacted the world as a
whole.
The Australian constitution, made in 1901 states, in reckoning the numbers of people... The Aboriginal
Natives shall not be included. It also says that it will legislate (make laws for) any race other than the
Indigenous Australians. They were originally unable to vote, and were excluded from a range of
benefits such as, pensions and maternity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Native Americans were forced and paid to leave their traditional lands and either chose to hide
from or join the white people by living on reserves. Their native tongue, teachings and traditions were
soon to be extinct and one man named Ishi and his family went around trying to pass on their culture
to the new inhabitants of their land, The whites. Unfortunately, Ishi died not long after, a subject of
disease. And thanks to his efforts and the efforts of people all around America, white people began to
rally against the government alongside the natives. Native Americans were granted the same rights as
any other American in 1924 and were soon merged in with the rest of society.
In both cases, after a long, hard battle against the white settlers on their land, the Indigenous
Australians and Native American have finally been granted the rights they deserve and have been
accepted by society as a whole. Although, some people may stick to the old mindset, unable to move
on and appreciate the natives of the land on which they stand. They are, after all, the traditional
owners of the

Ronald Reagan on the 40th Anniversary of D-Day Pointe Du...
Before I get to the analysis portion of this assignment, the speech I have decided to go with is former
President Ronald Reagan s speech on the 40th Anniversary of D Day that was delivered at Pointe du
Hoc, Normandy, France, on June 6, 1984. This is the speech I wanted to use for my analytical paper
because I have always been extremely interested in World War II and anything affiliated with it. Also,
I actually had two grandfathers that served in the Philippines fighting alongside American soldiers as
guerilla fighters against the Japanese invaders during the war. President Reagan was the one who
presented the speech but to my slight disappointment, he did not actually prepare it himself. The
speech was actually written by Peggy Noonan, the primary speechwriter and special assistant to
President Reagan. After reading and watching footage of the speech, I found it to be a great
collaboration between the speaker and the writer. President Reagan s 40th Anniversary of D Day
speech was given exactly forty years after D Day, the Normandy beach landings that took place on
June 6, 1944 in Normandy, France. More specifically, he delivered the speech at Pointe du Hoc,
Normandy, France where United States Army Rangers scaled the cliffs to take out German artillery
emplacements that were raining shells on Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword beach where other
Allied forces were landing. Despite the German artillery not being there once they got to the top, the

History of the relationship between IASB and FASB
The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) began operations in 2001. It is an organization
committed to developing, in the public interest, a single set of high quality, global accounting
standards that require transparent and comparable information in general purpose financial statements.
The IASB has developed procedures that bring transparency, predictability, and consistency (IASCF

goals for the IASB FASB convergence program: Joint projects being conducted with the IASB: Joint
projects involve the sharing of staff resources, and every effort is make to keep joint projects on a
similar time schedule at each board. Short term convergence: The goal is to reach a conclusion about
whether major differences in the following few focused areas should be eliminated through one or
more short term standard setting projects. Liason IASB member on site as the FASB offices: One of
the most visible features of the FASB s daily operations that promoted convergence is the presence of
a full time IASB member in residence at the FASB offices. The role was created to facilitate
information exchange and increase cooperation between the FASB and the IASB. FASB monitoring of
IASB projects: IASB projects are monitored the FASB based upon the FASB s level of interest in the

METHODS Participants were selected through convenience as well as snowball sampling. The
subjects were either students in Dr. Shieva Davarian s SOCL 109 02 Social Research Methods class or
acquaintances of the researchers .The participants that were targeted were between the ages of 17 and
22 and were currently enrolled in a university or secondary education program in the United States of
America. In total 25 people responded to the survey in which there were 17 female respondents, 7
male respondents, and 1 respondent who did not indicate their gender. However for six of the survey

After completing the survey the Likert scale questions were reverse coded, to make one the least likely
and five the most likely. At that point the results for each category were added together to create an
average score. The open ended questions were used to determine a general trend for why people
choose the diets they consume.
RESULTS
Quantitative Looking at Figure 1 we see that respondents tended to buy and consume conventional
foods (score of 104 out of 120) and organic products (score of 101 out of 120) the most, while home
grown, gluten free, and vegetarian/vegan products were bought and consumed significantly less.
Similarly in Figure 2, which rates the importance of food choices, respondents drastically preferred
organic products (score of 106 out of 120) to all other types of foods. Ninety two percent of
participants believed that sustainable food costs more than conventional products, and 64% of
participants believed that consuming sustainably should be a mandated practice. However participants
had varied responses on who had the greatest influence on sustainable consumption (see Figure 3). At
the top, participants rated communities (score of 79 out of 112), legislation/ governments (score of 72
out of 112), and individuals/ households (score of 70 out of 112), while food producers and the general
public scored slightly lower. When it came to incorporating sustainability into

The Effect Of Patient Education On Adolescents With Patients
What is the effect of patient education on adolescents with cardiac disease transitioning to adult care?

Rachel Feltcorn
What is the effect of patient education on adolescents with cardiac disease transitioning to adult care?
Adolescents with heart disease have many health issues with a lifelong need for cardiology follow
ups. The transition that young adults go through when changing into adult care is not easy or simple
for the nurses and the patients as well as their families. Many adolescents don t know about their own
cardiac history whether it is their diagnoses, catheterization procedures, surgery or their medications.
Caring for adult patients can be difficult for pediatric nurses. As adult patients age in the pediatric
setting, the risk for complications increases exponentially which can complicate their care. Even
though these patients are adults and in the pediatric setting, nurses can be there to provide them with
the training that can help increase the patient s independence when they move on to adult cardiac care
(Anton, 2016, p.e1).

P3: Describe the distribution and constituents of body fluids
M2: Explain functions of the constituents of body fluids
Our bodies are on average about 60% water, water is so important and we cannot live without it as it;
regulates our body temperature, moves nutrients through cells, keeps our mucous membranes moist
and flushes waste out of our bodies. In this assignment I am going to be describing the distribution and
constituents of the body fluids and explain the functions of the constituents of the body fluids. This
assignment is mainly about the importance of water and its role within the body and all of its
distinctive properties.
In this assignment I am going to be discussing the distribution and constituents of fluids within the
body. In the first part of the assignment I am going to be describing the distribution and constituents of
body fluids. This will include the distribution of water within the body, the constituents of various
intracellular and extracellular body fluids and I will also include examples. I am then going to give
examples of the solutes and what they contain.
I am then going to give an explanation of water within the body, the location and the function of five
electrolytes that are found within the body and the importance of maintaining this balance. I am finally
going to include how the three buffer systems help to control the pH within the body.

Dumb Blonde Stereotypes
Lastly, one of the most common or everyday recurring stereotypes around the world is a woman s
delicateness and feebleness. The generic vulnerability of women has become a seemingly meaningless
attribute to our society, spurring jokes and objects of ridicule. Being seen as feminine is still an issue
in our society. To many it is belittling and insulting to be called feminine, which enforces the
stereotype even more if you already are a female (Greenwood, Ambivalent Sexism and the Dumb
Blonde). One of the most common sexist jokes involves the stereotype of the dumb blonde .
Characteristics of this joke include the stigma of a blonde s stupidity and inability to comprehend
simple subjects. This stereotype of the dumb blonde is more detrimental

A King Is The Ruler
A king is the ruler, the maker or laws, and is the heart and representation of a country. Dynasties rise
and fall, under the reign of their king. He is sometime called the chosen one, as he has the power to
either bring the country to its glory, or bring ruin and devastation. Thus, throughout the history of
Israel, the three kings Saul, David, and Solomon where all chosen by God, and each of them had
contributed to the development of the nation.
Before the time of the three kings, those who reign over Israel were the Judges. However, the
beginning of 1 Samuel unfolded the fading of their era (New International Version). By the time the
leadership lay in the hands of Eli and his ungodly sons, God had stopped speaking to them and gave
His guidance to Samuel (Hinson and Yates 163). Thus, in time, Samuel gained his judgeship and led
the nation to victory and peace. However, as he aged, the people wish to have a king. Since Samuel
son s did not proved to be faithful to the Covenant the way their father did, the people believed it is
necessary to requested for a king (Constable, Notes on 1 Samuel). They claimed: (w)e want a king
over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and
fight our battles (1 Samuel 8: 19 20, NIV). Indeed, having a king would give the power against other
enemies. Nonetheless, the people of Israel ultimately failed to understand that their true King, the one
and only that helped them throughout

Analysis Of The Centntaur By May Swenson
In May Swenson s poem The Centaur, she talks about a little girl that uses her enormous mind to
imagine herself transforming into a horse. The girl is in a whole new world of her imagination as she
rides through the hills of her backyard. Swenson allows readers to take part in the transformation from
human to horse that the adolescent girl described undergoes, thus emphasizing the importance of
childhood and imagination on the woman s identity and how strong and intelligent they could be.
In the poem, May uses the Greek mythological creature, the Centaur, as a symbol of the girl
pretending to ride the horse and then became the horse himself. A centaur is a half man half horse
creature. Centaurs are strong creatures they stand for being strong, brave, and they have a hard identity
which reflects the girl s identity of having all these characteristics. Swenson makes it seem as though
the girl herself is a Centaur. Words and phrases like: my hair flopped to the side like the mane of a
horse (line 29 to 30), I shied and skittered and reared (line 33), I was the horse and the rider (line 38),

Abstract
This paper gives a summary of each Microsoft Office application: Word, Excel, Access, and
PowerPoint. For each application, common user errors will be identified, as well as step by step
strategies to diagnose and troubleshoot the problems for each application. The step by step instructions
are written for a beginner and intermediate user level. A PowerPoint presentation is included that
resembles an actual presentation that could be used for training application support staff.

Strategies to diagnose and troubleshoot such problems are usually conducted by having the customer
recall everything that he or she did before and after the problem occurred. This can help narrow down
what exactly the problem is. Asking questions about what exactly the customer is trying to accomplish
at the time can also help narrow down the problem. After discovering the problem, the support person
is able to research the solution and ask the customer to follow through step by step as he or she
instructs them how to complete the procedure to solve the problem. For beginner and intermediate
users, it is a good suggestion for the support person to give details and lengthier explanations with
each step so it is easier for the customer to understand and follow along without any further problems.
After fixing the problem, the support person should assist the customer by teaching him or her how to
complete the procedure correctly to avoid any further errors, again by being more specific with the
instructions for beginner and intermediate users. When the problem is solved and fixed and the user is
knowledgeable on how to complete the procedure the next time without any help, the support person
should assume the user does not know about the help menu included in the program and its
capabilities to assist them with errors.

How Did Roman Civilization Impact The World
What civilization was the greatest of all time and had the most impact on the world? The Roman
civilization of course. The people in Rome got involved in many ways during the time of 27 BC to
476 AD. While there were many ways to get involved in the Roman Empire the three most important
ways were military, sports, and architecture. The Romans had many great techniques and ways to take
down their opponents, they would train boys so they could be great warriors when they got older
(Baker Baker, 1998). The Romans played many sports to entertain and to get involved in one of those
sports being chariot racing, this sport consisted of at least two people on a horse and carriage running
around a track. This sport attracted a lot of spectators because sometimes there would be cheating
against the rules but they weren t that strict. The Romans had the greatest architecture of all time and
they are the main reason our architecture is so advanced today, they had great domes and the Romans
created the arch which is used all over the world today. The Romans had the greatest military during

Government Spending On Economic Performance Essay
Abstract
Government spending and its influences on economic growth is a hotly debated issues among
professionals. Policymakers are divided between whether an economy can expand or is stripped of its
potential to grow as government spending increase. Spending on for example infrastructure and
defense are constructive, many economists question that public spending has decreasing marginal
benefits and lead to crowding out of the the private sector. Supporters of larger government spending
claim that government programs offer valuable public goods such as education and infrastructure
which would not work efficiently if they were privately owned. Furthermore, an argument advocates
use is that in government spending can boost economic growth by putting money into people s
pockets. Proponents of smaller government have the opposite view. They argue that governments
which are too big destabilize economic growth by not allocating resources to the most efficient user
and take away from the productive sector of the economy to government. This paper evaluates the
influence of government spending on economic performance. It examines the theoretical arguments,
reviews evidence and highlights the latest academic research.

Image As Presence In Blade Runner
The concept of image as presence refers to the concept that film can show the world as it truly is.
Directors can choose to project the idea of image as presence in multiple ways, through the subjective
viewpoints of the characters of the film, through an objective approach in which an omnipresent force
that dictates to us about the facts that exist. In contrast, image as text, operates on the understanding
that the world cannot be shown as it is, rather there is an understanding that what the viewer is seeing
comes from an interpretive perspective. This viewpoint expects the audience to make connections
between what they are seeing on the screen and other images that are already known. Making
connections is part of the way that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result is that the dystopian future becomes a realistic possibility to the audience. This has two
effects, in the first it makes the events of the film more plausible. Technological development and the
creation of robotic life could eventually occur in our own reality. In this regard, the film is using
image as presence by setting up this believable world. However, in the second arena it makes the
audience reflect on the questions of urbanity and development that exist in our current paradigm, thus
inviting discussion about the way human and planning elements are being merged together in our own
technology driven world. These concepts are as relevant now as they were when the film was first
released two decades ago. The camera continually roves over this world creating spatial continuity
that implies that there is virtually no escape from this smoky, polluted, society. The landscape provides
a site for making metaphor about the socioeconomic divide that characterizes the Blade Runner
universe. The skyscrapers of the wealthy are clear symbols of how the poor are at the bottom of the

The Trafficking Of Smuggling Drugs
Smuggling Drugs in Airports
Over the recent past, there has been major growth in illegal trafficking of humans, firearms and most
importantly drugs (UN, 2012). These kinds of trafficking are characterized by greater organisation
levels. They are also denoted by the presence of criminal groups and chains. Though these activities
are not new, both the geographic area and scale of the present problem is unprecedented. The value of
illegal trade in 2009 throughout the world was about $1.3 trillion (Jenner, 2010). Drug smuggling is a
major concern wherein it has major adverse effects due to the large illegal profits it produces (Jenner,
2010). In different drug production regions and transit areas, criminal groups disregard state authority
and exiting laws by promoting corruption, affecting the economy and compromising elections (UN,
2012). Using the UK as a case in point, this paper describes drug smuggling, its development, and the
effects, the challenges for investigators and judicial processes and strategies to manage with the
problem.
There is a large extent of drug smuggling in the UK (Richman, 2007). It was recently submitted that
there were three hundred importers into the United Kingdom, three thousand wholesalers and seventy
thousand street dealers. The security system in airports like Heathrow is complex and is characterized
by different barriers: human, organisational and innovative barriers. There are different agencies,

John Winthrop And John Adams
John Winthrop and John Adams and their respective works were heavily influenced by their times.
Winthrop was a devout Puritan Christian that was escaping a persecuting king in the early to mid
seventeenth century. As a learned and religious man, he came to be the leader of this puritan sect that
was to establish a society unlike any other, free from religious corruption that his fellow people saw in
the Church of England, that would be a model community much like the Citty upon a Hill described in
the bible. On the other hand, John Adams experienced the tyranny of the British monarchy in a
contrasting way. This era was marked with worsened conditions for American colonists in terms of
economic and social taxations. Their literary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Winthrop s political theory developed from an early age. As a religious man, one would expect him to
be a preacher, but he found his calling through law and leadership. Because he was such a devout
Puritan, he was chosen to spearhead the project of establishing the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which
was originally purposed for economic uses. This changed when the group elected him as governor,
which altered the purpose of the colony to be more religious in nature. As a result, this group of
Christians made an exodus from the old world with the mindset of establishing a true Christian society
, much like the Jews fleeing from Egypt, as described in the first testament, book of Exodus in the
Bible. They felt it was not only a privilege but a duty of God, and as the metaphorical and literal hands
of God, to uphold the values of a true Puritan society. This cemented in him a purpose to erect a
community that would be that Citty on a Hill that is so famously quoted.
In his address upon the Arabella, Winthrop reasoned that a society cannot have liberty without certain
guidelines. Although similar to the social contract theory of Hobbes, who argued for a strong central
government to prevent the evils that humanity naturally expresses, Winthrop argued for a strong
government that would not only prevent the sinful ways of people, but to create an environment that
Christians could fulfill their godly purposes it its

Role Of Destruction In Macbeth
Macbeth s Destruction Some have experienced a time when they have done the inevitable in retrieving
what they want; however, very few have done appalling actions in achieving their goal. What many do
not understand is these actions could guide anyone to their end, along with anyone or anything who
has influenced in the process. In Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Macbeth , Macbeth s desperate
measures are caused by his influences in gaining what he desires; be that as it may, lead to the
foundation of his destruction. Throughout the play, the whole reason why Macbeth begun this
deranged plan in becoming king in the first place was caused by the three witches. For instance, they

Once Macbeth was told his future by the witches, he spoke about how stars, hide your fires/ let not
light see my black and deep desires. (I. 4. 50 51). It is indicated that Macbeth has his mind set in
gaining his desires and making them come true. However, it is stated that Macbeth s loss of freedom is
reflected in the diminishing proportion of thought to deed that characterizes his behavior in the course
of the play (Cantor). As Macbeth uses his ambition to his advantage, he slowly loses his freedom
because he is losing his humanity by killing. For instance, he states how it is For mine own good/ All
causes shall give way/ I am in blood stepped in so far that/ should I wade no more. (III. 4. 135 137).
Macbeth s ambition leads him to believe that everything he is doing, is for his own well being; that it
was his right to become king, no matter what the costs. The original Macbeth assumed the kingship,
perhaps reviving his father s claim (Woolf). Both Macbeth s connect because they believe the throne
belongs to them one overthrew Duncan because he was not the rightful ruler; the other assumed he
would be the better king because the witches told him his future. Even though it was Macbeth s
ambition that guided him to do these heinous acts, they were not suitable choices to choose

Air travel has become a common part of everyday life. However, one of the common complaints with
air travel is the prices of the tickets. It turns out that people are not the only ones who have trouble
finding the lowest ticket price, computers have a hard time as well. This paper aims to look at the
computational complexity of air travel planning, and find the lowest priced ticket between two
destinations using popular search algorithms. As explained in the introduction, it is not feasible to
attempt to run all the flights across the world through the search algorithms. Instead, flights from one
airline, Delta, were selected. This includes code share flights. The flight database that was used is

The final element of this experiment which could use more investigation and changes is the algorithms
used. While the two selected worked for the most part

search. Finding more robust versions of UCS and A* and including some other algorithms could have
provided more conclusive results as well as giving more interesting data.
The goal of this project was to take a public database of airline flights, select a number of flights, and
run those flights through a couple of the search algorithms studied in class (uniform cost search and
A* search). The algorithms provided some interesting results when run on the ten randomly selected
routes. In almost all of the cases the algorithms were able to find the cheapest path between the
departure and arrival airports, although A* chose a more expensive route once and could not find one
other route. When these findings were compared with
Google s flight search, some of the results were surprising. Almost all of the real world flights cost

Enough Is Enough Alain De Botton
When is Enough, Enough?
In his chapter Equality, Expectation, and Envy of his book Status Anxiety, Alain de Botton analyzes
the social anxieties of people. In his article, Botton explains the possible causes of these dilemmas,
and how these social issues affect our generation today. Throughout the chapter, Botton discusses
peoples longing to be better, the impact of equality on the world, and the realistic results of high
expectations and hopes. Although modern society seems to have had a tremendous improvement of
resources over many generations, people fear that enough is not enough. Society strives for more and
better things, even when they already have more and better things. Botton explains that we decide our
wants and set our limits by comparing ourselves to our reference groups (Botton 25) A reference
group is an assemblage of people in similar conditions as our own. We suddenly become hateful and
envious when someone that we correspond and relate to is more dominant and successful than us in
whatever way. In addition to comparisons and envy, Botton discusses how we only compare ourselves
to people in our reference groups. In our society, it is easy to know when someone may have had more

position, low or high. Slaves were not considered people and lived a life of servitude; they could not
build their way up to a higher position. Aristotle stated in Politics, It is clear that some men are by
nature free and others are by nature slaves, and that is for these latter, slavery is both expedient and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hearing Aids
Hearing is a major and important sense in our lives which is why we have to take care of our hearing.
Many people are deaf and it can be caused by many different factors that can affect the hearing
strength of a person or individual, which is why hearing aids were invented. Over the past two
centuries hearing aids went through a great development and we are still using the outcomes of it till
today they provide us with many advantages, but as you know where there are advantages there are
disadvantages. They can benefit us with better hearing for those who can t hear very well.
The people who can t hear either partly or whole have deafness which can be defined as the inability
to hear either partly or entirely. Deafness is divided into three main types which are conductive
deafness, which means that sound cannot flow freely into the middle ear. The second type is
Sensorineural deafness which means that there is a problem in the auditory nerve or the cochlea. And
finally the neural deafness, which means that there is no auditory nerve. It is important to specify if a

What Are The Ideals Of The 1920s
America has been plagued with the American Dream since its citizens first started spreading out
westward in search of wealth and fame. Along with this American ideal came the concept of being un
American and not standing for what was considered true American. With the emergence of Populists,
Progressives and Radicals came a vast difference between what was thought as American. All groups
claimed to be trying to make the US a better place however each differed vastly in their ideas of going
about it. During the age of uncertainty between 1890 and the 1920 s a new movement called the
Progressives emerged in parts of the Unites States. They emerged as part of a long tradition of reform
aimed at correcting the issues of the country.
Progressives ranged across the social and political spectrum with different views on reform and ideas
on how to go about it. It crossed the lines of party, class, gender and even race (Nugent, page 4). Many
presidents and influential speakers had overlapping ideas regarding reform. By the end of the era
progressives managed to tackle everything from class conflict to making people better citizens.
Famous progressives include iconic members of US history such as Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow

research advisor suggested me to consider a career in chemical engineering as my interest in applied

  • 2. Sources of Business Finance Q 1. Discuss about different Sources of Business Finance. Different Sources of Business Finance Business is concerned with the production and distribution of goods and services for the satisfaction of needs of society. For carrying out various activities, business requires money. Finance, therefore, is called the life blood of any business. A business cannot function unless adequate funds are made available to it. The initial capital contributed by the entrepreneur is not always sufficient to take care of all financial requirements of the business. A business person, therefore, has to look for different other sources from where the need for funds can be met. A business can raise funds from various sources. Each of the sources has ... Preference Shares The capital raised by issue of preference shares is called preference share capital. The preference shareholders enjoy a preferential position over equity shareholders in two ways: (i) receiving a fixed rate of dividend, out of the net profits of the company, before any dividend is declared for equity shareholders; and (ii) receiving their capital after the claims of the company s creditors have been settled, at the time of liquidation. In other words, as compared to the equity shareholders, the preference shareholders have a preferential claim over dividend and repayment of capital. Preference shares have some characteristics of both equity shares and debentures. Preference shareholders generally do not enjoy any voting rights. Investments in these shares are safe, and a preference shareholder also gets dividend regularly. 3. Debentures Debentures are an important instrument for raising long term debt capital. Whenever a company wants to borrow a large amount of fund for a long but fixed period, it can borrow from the general public by issuing loan certificates called Debentures. A company can raise funds through issue of debentures, which bear a fixed rate of interest. A debenture is issued under the common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Doll House In A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen, a woman named Nora is facing a life altering situation that stands to both ruin her social and private life. In dealing with the potential outcomes of the scenario, Nora comes to find that she has been living a convenient mistruth. Nora s greatest and most damaging lies are lies she tells to herself. As is seen numerous times throughout the play, Nora hides, withholds, and distorts the truth in order to please everyone around her, including herself. Nora is presented almost immediately as a person of questionable character, wherein the first scene she conceals from Torvald having eaten macaroons. Torvald says to Nora Not even a bite at a macaroon? after suggesting she had been to the confectionaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This false reality is damaging her ability to be honest, trustworthy and reliable. Nora s false reality is partially created because she never forms an opinion of her own. Nora is always afraid of having an opinion because it will disrupt or upset her husband. Nora s life as an adult is stunted because she isn t her own person. Nora states that when I was at home with papa, he told me his opinion about everything, and so I had the same opinions; and if I differed from him I concealed the fact, because he would not have liked it (III.141) and that I was simply transferred from papa s hands into yours. You arranged everything according to your own taste, and so I got the same tastes as your else I pretended to (III. 142). Nora is a woman made to be a doll, and she plays the role with lies and misdeeds. Nora again demonstrates the lack of opinion. Nora s life as a deceptive doll is further showcased by the dangerous decisions she makes. Nora takes out a fraudulent loan against her father s name because she wants something and cannot have it. Nora realizes the burden her actions can put against her father s name and she realizes the legal action that can result from fraud. Krogstad, Nora s lender states but did it never occur to you that you were committing a fraud on me? (II.52). Nora replies that I couldn t take that into account; I didn t trouble myself about you at all (II.52). Again, when Nora is presented with an opportunity to make a poor choice ... This essay will show you how both the Indigenous Australians and Native Americans were treated from the first settlement of white peoples in their land up until now. The Native Americans were forced and paid to leave their traditional lands and either chose to hide from or join the white people by living on reserves. Their native tongue, teachings and traditions were soon to be extinct and one man named Ishi and his family went around trying to pass on their culture to the new inhabitants of their land, The whites. Unfortunately, Ishi died not long after, a subject of disease. And thanks to his efforts and the efforts of people all around America, white people began to rally against the government alongside the natives. Native Americans were granted the same rights as any other American in 1924 and were soon merged in with the rest of society. In both cases, after a long, hard battle against the white settlers on their land, the Indigenous Australians and Native American have finally been granted the rights they deserve and have been accepted by society as a whole. Although, some people may stick to the old mindset, unable to move on and appreciate the natives of the land on which they stand. They are, after all, the traditional owners of the ... This is the speech I wanted to use for my analytical paper because I have always been extremely interested in World War II and anything affiliated with it. Also, I actually had two grandfathers that served in the Philippines fighting alongside American soldiers as guerilla fighters against the Japanese invaders during the war. President Reagan was the one who presented the speech but to my slight disappointment, he did not actually prepare it himself. The speech was actually written by Peggy Noonan, the primary speechwriter and special assistant to President Reagan. After reading and watching footage of the speech, I found it to be a great collaboration between the speaker and the writer. President Reagan s 40th Anniversary of D Day speech was given exactly forty years after D Day, the Normandy beach landings that took place on June 6, 1944 in Normandy, France. More specifically, he delivered the speech at Pointe du Hoc, Normandy, France where United States Army Rangers scaled the cliffs to take out German artillery emplacements that were raining shells on Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword beach where other Allied forces were landing. Despite the German artillery not being there once they got to the top, the artillery replaced by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

N306: Theory, Reasoning, and Research in Nursing Shenandoah University: Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing Dr. Lorena Jung, PhD, RN Rachel Feltcorn What is the effect of patient education on adolescents with cardiac disease transitioning to adult care? Adolescents with heart disease have many health issues with a lifelong need for cardiology follow ups. The transition that young adults go through when changing into adult care is not easy or simple for the nurses and the patients as well as their families. He is sometime called the chosen one, as he has the power to either bring the country to its glory, or bring ruin and devastation. Thus, throughout the history of Israel, the three kings Saul, David, and Solomon where all chosen by God, and each of them had contributed to the development of the nation. Before the time of the three kings, those who reign over Israel were the Judges. However, the beginning of 1 Samuel unfolded the fading of their era (New International Version). By the time the leadership lay in the hands of Eli and his ungodly sons, God had stopped speaking to them and gave His guidance to Samuel (Hinson and Yates 163). Thus, in time, Samuel gained his judgeship and led the nation to victory and peace. However, as he aged, the people wish to have a king. Since Samuel son s did not proved to be faithful to the Covenant the way their father did, the people believed it is necessary to requested for a king (Constable, Notes on 1 Samuel). • 21. Analysis Of The Centntaur By May Swenson In May Swenson s poem The Centaur, she talks about a little girl that uses her enormous mind to imagine herself transforming into a horse. The girl is in a whole new world of her imagination as she rides through the hills of her backyard. Swenson allows readers to take part in the transformation from human to horse that the adolescent girl described undergoes, thus emphasizing the importance of childhood and imagination on the woman s identity and how strong and intelligent they could be. In the poem, May uses the Greek mythological creature, the Centaur, as a symbol of the girl pretending to ride the horse and then became the horse himself. A centaur is a half man half horse creature. Centaurs are strong creatures they stand for being strong, brave, and they have a hard identity which reflects the girl s identity of having all these characteristics. Swenson makes it seem as though the girl herself is a Centaur. Words and phrases like: my hair flopped to the side like the mane of a horse (line 29 to 30), I shied and skittered and reared (line 33), I was the horse and the rider (line 38), spanked my own behind (line 40 ), and my two hoofs beat a gallop along the bank (line 41 to 42 ) . All these symbolize that the girl is imagining being a horse and a human at the same time like a centaur. At the end when her mother said: why is your mouth all green ? • 26. Government Spending On Economic Performance Essay Abstract Government spending and its influences on economic growth is a hotly debated issues among professionals. Policymakers are divided between whether an economy can expand or is stripped of its potential to grow as government spending increase. Spending on for example infrastructure and defense are constructive, many economists question that public spending has decreasing marginal benefits and lead to crowding out of the the private sector. Supporters of larger government spending claim that government programs offer valuable public goods such as education and infrastructure which would not work efficiently if they were privately owned. Furthermore, an argument advocates use is that in government spending can boost economic growth by putting money into people s pockets. Proponents of smaller government have the opposite view. Directors can choose to project the idea of image as presence in multiple ways, through the subjective viewpoints of the characters of the film, through an objective approach in which an omnipresent force that dictates to us about the facts that exist. In contrast, image as text, operates on the understanding that the world cannot be shown as it is, rather there is an understanding that what the viewer is seeing comes from an interpretive perspective. However, in the second arena it makes the audience reflect on the questions of urbanity and development that exist in our current paradigm, thus inviting discussion about the way human and planning elements are being merged together in our own technology driven world. The Trafficking Of Smuggling Drugs Smuggling Drugs in Airports Over the recent past, there has been major growth in illegal trafficking of humans, firearms and most importantly drugs (UN, 2012). These kinds of trafficking are characterized by greater organisation levels. They are also denoted by the presence of criminal groups and chains. Though these activities are not new, both the geographic area and scale of the present problem is unprecedented. The value of illegal trade in 2009 throughout the world was about $1.3 trillion (Jenner, 2010). Drug smuggling is a major concern wherein it has major adverse effects due to the large illegal profits it produces (Jenner, 2010). In different drug production regions and transit areas, criminal groups disregard state authority and exiting laws by promoting corruption, affecting the economy and compromising elections (UN, 2012). Winthrop was a devout Puritan Christian that was escaping a persecuting king in the early to mid seventeenth century. As a learned and religious man, he came to be the leader of this puritan sect that was to establish a society unlike any other, free from religious corruption that his fellow people saw in the Church of England, that would be a model community much like the Citty upon a Hill described in the bible. On the other hand, John Adams experienced the tyranny of the British monarchy in a contrasting way. Winthrop s political theory developed from an early age. As a religious man, one would expect him to be a preacher, but he found his calling through law and leadership. Because he was such a devout Puritan, he was chosen to spearhead the project of establishing the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which was originally purposed for economic uses. This changed when the group elected him as governor, which altered the purpose of the colony to be more religious in nature. As a result, this group of Christians made an exodus from the old world with the mindset of establishing a true Christian society , much like the Jews fleeing from Egypt, as described in the first testament, book of Exodus in the Bible. They felt it was not only a privilege but a duty of God, and as the metaphorical and literal hands of God, to uphold the values of a true Puritan society. This cemented in him a purpose to erect a community that would be that Citty on a Hill that is so famously quoted. In his address upon the Arabella, Winthrop reasoned that a society cannot have liberty without certain guidelines. Although similar to the social contract theory of Hobbes, who argued for a strong central government to prevent the evils that humanity naturally expresses, Winthrop argued for a strong government that would not only prevent the sinful ways of people, but to create an environment that Christians could fulfill their godly purposes it its ... In Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Macbeth , Macbeth s desperate measures are caused by his influences in gaining what he desires; be that as it may, lead to the foundation of his destruction. However, it is stated that Macbeth s loss of freedom is reflected in the diminishing proportion of thought to deed that characterizes his behavior in the course of the play (Cantor). As Macbeth uses his ambition to his advantage, he slowly loses his freedom because he is losing his humanity by killing. For instance, he states how it is For mine own good/ All causes shall give way/ I am in blood stepped in so far that/ should I wade no more. (III. 4. 135 137). The goal of this project was to take a public database of airline flights, select a number of flights, and run those flights through a couple of the search algorithms studied in class (uniform cost search and A* search). The algorithms provided some interesting results when run on the ten randomly selected routes. In almost all of the cases the algorithms were able to find the cheapest path between the departure and arrival airports, although A* chose a more expensive route once and could not find one other route. In his article, Botton explains the possible causes of these dilemmas, and how these social issues affect our generation today. Throughout the chapter, Botton discusses peoples longing to be better, the impact of equality on the world, and the realistic results of high expectations and hopes. Although modern society seems to have had a tremendous improvement of resources over many generations, people fear that enough is not enough. Society strives for more and better things, even when they already have more and better things. Botton explains that we decide our wants and set our limits by comparing ourselves to our reference groups (Botton 25) A reference group is an assemblage of people in similar conditions as our own. We suddenly become hateful and envious when someone that we correspond and relate to is more dominant and successful than us in whatever way. All groups claimed to be trying to make the US a better place however each differed vastly in their ideas of going about it. Progressives ranged across the social and political spectrum with different views on reform and ideas on how to go about it.
