Memory Of Trauma
Another limitation that can appear when examining the memory of trauma is that trauma victims do
not elicit the same response to trauma. Individuals who experience psychological trauma, physical
trauma or both all remember the abuse differently. Many trauma victims may have repressed those
memories or simply forget the explicit details about their traumatic experiences. Toth and Cicchetti
(1998) argue that victims will elicit different responses of they are diagnosed with post traumatic
stress disorder (PTSD) and experience trauma on a single or multiple occurrence. Multiple
experiences of trauma may give individuals a general memory of the abuse, however, it often
overlooks and forget about the unique features of their traumatic experience.

Slaughter From War Strikes Antietam Analysis
Slaughter from War Strikes Antietam!
On September 17th, The Battle of Antietam took place and is the bloodiest single day in American
History. Many men sacrificed their lives in this battle to protect what we hold dear in unity as a nation.
In this battle 23,000 casualties, dead, injured, and missing, were suffered in just 12 hours of
warfare(Staff 1).
The four men that lie dead in this photograph are all in an open field and all appear to be in Union
uniforms. These men were presumingly lined shoulder to shoulder, as is custom in war, while
advancing on the confederate soldiers lines. The fence behind these soldiers is missing many of its
planks suggesting that many bullets were fired at these soldiers as the advanced towards the
confederate lines. This fence is symbolic because with the fence post missing it truly shows the
amount of fire that these men were under as they marched their way across the battlefield(Battle of
Antietam 1).
This battle came after a brutal campaign by the South who had just won The 2nd Battle of Bull Run as
well as The Seven Days Battle. Lee s unprecedented plan to start invading the North was seen as
unorthodox because all the South needed to do was survive until the citizen s of the North got upset
with the war and lost the will to fight. Lee s plan to invade the North was to invade the Maryland
which remained loyal to the union and get a crushing blow in union territory. He was also hoping that
some dissenting slave owners in Maryland would join the Southern forces to help fight the North in
this battle. Unfortunately for Lee, when those that dissented saw the condition that his men were ...

Sales Tax Errors
To error is human, and that fact is never so apparent than when dealing with taxes. Recently, several
states have publicized the most common sales tax management errors experienced by their residents in
an effort to help business owners comply with complicated sales tax laws.
Each state has its own rules when it comes to sales tax errors, but generally jail time is reserved for
those who willfully and knowingly report incorrect sales tax. However, it can be difficult for an
auditor to distinguish an innocent accident from intentionally dishonest bookkeeping. So, it is best to
catch the errors you can before an audit and document all your business in an easy to follow and
organized manner as to not incriminate yourself.

Technology can be a great help in this respect. Using a reliable sales tax software to manage rate
changes in real time can greatly reduce rate errors and lower your audit risk.
Incorrect Returns Filing: Return filing is one of the many hurdles of sales tax compliance. Many
jurisdictions penalize for late filing or incorrect forms or missed extension deadlines. To combat this
stay organized, know your filing information, and know your filing dates.
Failing to Register In The Correct Jurisdictions: Business are sometimes surprised by the fact that they
must register in the states where they do business. What they don t realize is that not registering is a
huge red flag to auditors that indicates fraudulent bookkeeping. Not only that but failure to register
can make a material difference for the business as well. For example, in Ohio registered companies are
only required to provide four years of documented transactions; for the unregistered, auditors need to
see seven years of transaction

A Model Of Governance Through Capitalistic Ideals
Want to know a little known fact? Local government is one of the most influential factors in the
American way of life, but it is not even mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. Essentially the
Constitution set up national and state governments but leaves local governments out creating a gray
area. This area has been filled with many different methods and types of government. One of the ideas
which pertains to filling this gray area is the Tiebout model. In essence this is a model of governance
through capitalistic ideals. In the Tiebout model cities and metros are divided up into micro
jurisdiction entice or deter specific citizens based on the jurisdicition s services and taxes. This train of
thought assumes things about the people who live in these cities. These assumptions, applied to a
simple majority, would surely ensure this methods success, but it may not be feasible. Because many
dislike the Tiebout method revision can be made and there are numerous alternatives also.
In order for the Tiebout model to be successful, at least two assumptions must be made about citizens.
The first assumption that must be made is that the average, or at least the majority, of citizens are both
informed and motived to stay up to date on policies. Each citizens would need to commit to enough
different news sources to understand local politics and its entirety. This applies to obvious things like
watching tax changes in their local government, as well as other areas. It also entail

agency. Given the complexity of both the intelligence and law enforcement communities and their
many overlapping jurisdictions, it was inevitable that key information would slip through the cracks
between agencies. The inability to analyze and link critical information across (or even within an
agency) is referred to as linkage blindness and will be a major theme throughout this book. In part, the
Homeland Security Act of 2002, the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001, and its reauthorization in 2005 were
executive and legislative responses to the problem of linkage blindness by organizing diffuse and
autonomous law enforcement agencies and strengthening the government s abilities to obtain
information. Stephen Flynn (2001) provides a useful illustration of this critical law enforcement
problem, referring to the arrival of a hypothetical ship with questionable cargo and a crew on an
intelligence watch list for potential terrorist ties:
The Coast Guard would be likely to know about the scheduled arrival of a tanker carrying hazardous
cargo. The Customs Service might have some advance cargo manifest information. The INS might or
might not know much about the crew, depending

What I Learned When I Get A Traffic Ticket
September 9, 2015 was the first time I have ever gotten a ticket. It happened when I was in junior
college in Arizona. A lesson I learned is that speeding turns into going to court. My court date was set
for November 4th which was a Wednesday. I remember waking up that morning and thinking to
myself, What the hell did I just get myself into? I was so nervous that before I left Arizona Western
Community College to head to the Yuma Municipal Court, I went to my bathroom and threw my guts
out. Yes, I know it s only a traffic ticket but I have never been to court in my whole life. So the drive
over to the court was probably the longest drive ever. It felt like when I drive from Ashland to
Portland. My Aunty Donna who was the Poly mom for all the polynesian boys who played football at
Arizona Western brought me something to eat so I didn t pass out in court. Even after she brought me
Mcdonald s, I was still feeling a bit groggy but I just said to myself that I am a man and I will face the
consequences that I am given. For some reason I thought I was going to jail for a couple of days and
Donna was telling me the whole time, STOP you are not going to jail for a traffic ticket! Yes, as silly
as I sound thinking I was going to jail for a traffic ticket, it was all surreal and I was so scared and
nervous. When I got to Yuma Municipal Court I walked in and saw the metal detectors. I was thinking
to myself that the only place I have seen these things was in the airport right

A Community For The Session Long Project Essay
Module 1 SLP
Disasters in Atlanta, Georgia Community
A community for the session long project would be Atlanta, Georgia community. The community
experiences numerous types of natural disasters both natural and man made. Among the disasters that
will be covered in the ERP plan includes floods, winter storms, and tornadoes.
Floods
Atlanta, Georgia community has experienced continuous rains which resulted in floods that affected
numerous counties across northern Georgia. The floods have caused many deaths and damaged
property worth millions. 20,000 businesses, homes, and other buildings experienced significant
damage. In 2009, a spring flood in Georgia resulted in national disaster declarations in forty six
counties. According to Copeland and Rice (2015), floods are common disasters in Atlanta, Georgia.
They are experienced mostly after winter snows, heavy thunderstorms, or spring rains.
The National Weather Service (2014) reported that the Metro Atlanta suffered disastrous flooding in
2009 after an extended downpour that stemmed from sufficient moisture from the Atlantic Ocean,
Atlanta s topography, and the Gulf of Mexico. In 24 hours, the rain had reached approximately 20
inches, resulting in a significant flash flooding that made river basins stay swollen for weeks. This
disaster significantly affected the Atlanta, Georgia community and its economy with a property loss
worth $500 million reported.
To decrease the exposure to possible loss from floods, the Atlanta,

Autism And Its Effects On Children Essay
In the United States 1 in 68 births results in an Autism diagnosis (Autism Society). In this time period,
at the moment, there are new medical discoveries every day. These breakthroughs range from new
diseases prevention methods, to new cures for previously terminal illnesses. So, because our society is
constantly changing, evolving, and improving, it is absolutely necessary to keep up with the awareness
of these new discoveries. One disorder that has existed for years, but has recently gained a lot of
awareness is Autism. Autism is defined as a disorder in brain development that ultimately affects its
victims everyday social interaction (Autismspeaks.org) . Signs and symptoms of Autism are usually
shown in early childhood, and are easily detected by parents, if they are aware. However, if a parent or
guardian notices any signs, they should take action immediately. How fast they take action in this
situation could make or break the future of their child. Many symptoms have been connected to
autism, and they are seen the best in these areas; behavior, social skills, and speech. A child s guardian
can observe these symptoms in these areas to further increase the accuracy of the diagnosis. The
average adult lacks the professional training that psychologists and behaviourists have, so they may
only be able to zero in on high frequency behavior (Zwaigenbaum 2008). Children with autism tend to
act out more than their peers in school or daycare and are more prone to frequent

The Theory Of Feminist Care Ethics
A moral theory determines what is right or wrong based off a structured set of statements. There are
many different moral theories each obtaining their own set of guidelines for determining whether an
action is morally right or wrong. In this paper I consider one objection against feminist care ethics.
First I will outline the theory, and then discuss in detail the aspects of the theory that the objection
targets. Next I will explain what the objection states. Lastly I will describe why it is a serious problem
with the theory.
Feminist Care Ethics is a moral theory that is mainly focuses on emotions and caring for those we are
responsible for. There are many features within this theory. First, the main focus of feminist care
ethics is attending to whom we are responsible for. The theory acknowledges that throughout a
lifetime there are times where people will need to be cared for whether it is in their early years or later.
Those who are responsible for a person in need of care have an obligation to care for them. For
example a mother to her dependent child or a daughter to her ill mother or father (Held, 2006, p. 478
9). Second, what is considered to be moral or immoral should be based off of valued emotions. Valued
emotions are sympathy, empathy, sensitivity, and responsiveness. These are valued because they are
considered kind and moral. I support this part of the theory because other moral theories rely on
reason and rationalistic deductions and calculations in order

Jackie Robinson And Racial Barriers In Sports
Can you ever imagine yourself living in an era where you are constancy denied due to the color of
your skin? In the 1940s early 1950s segregation was still existent and in full effect. Baseball was
amongst one of the most popular sports in America but there were separate leagues that were involved
within this, Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Negro Baseball Leagues were the only leagues that
were existent during the era of segregation. There was only one person that had the guts to enter the
Major League of Baseball, his name was Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson had the perseverance to
face this racial barrier in sports as an obstacle to overcome throughout the duration of his career.
Jackie Robinson was a major influence when it came down to breaking the racial barrier in sports, he
inspired many people to fight for the equality that African Americans truly deserved. Robinson had
many influences during his career in baseball that had helped him break this barrier but there was one
man that changed the entire sport of baseball, his name was Branch Rickey. Rickey was an American
sports executive, he was hired to The Brooklyn Dodgers to take position as President. He then wanted
Robinson to join the Dodgers but with Jackie being the first African American to join the MLB, he
would have to learn to endure all of the hate that was came with the price of the first African American
to ever be a part of the Major League of Baseball. Branch Rickey then invited Robinson to his

Invitation To Murder
Comparing and Contrasting An Invitation to a Murder and The Dying Detective An Invitation to a
Murder was written by Josh Pachter and The Dying Detective was scripted by Michael and Mollie
Hardwick. There are very distinct differences between the novella and script; however, they have
commonalities among them too. An Invitation to a Murder revolves around Eleanor Abbott and twelve
other men who stood by the law detectives, investigators, judges, and so on. Meanwhile, The Dying
Detective was about Sherlock Holmes framing a man for murder to prove that the man, Culverton
Smith was guilty for a punishable act. The audience can compare and contrast to indicate these
similarities and differences hidden in the two passages. First ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A locked room mystery is a mystery in which a seemingly impossible crime is committed; for
example, a crime occurs in a room that does not allow an entrance or exit for the criminal. In this case,
it had seemed preposterous to how Mrs. Abbott was going to kill Mr. Abbott and blame the twelve
men. Branigan and Coszyck kept Mrs. Abbott in place, but by the time it was eleven o clock, Mr.
Abbott had died without Mrs. Abbott even laying a single finger on him! Another difference was the
poison used in the stories. In The Dying Detective , the poison was a plant which killed Victor Savage,
Smith s cousin. Smith attempted to use the same plant on Holmes in order to murder him. Holmes had
feigned his death at that time to fool Smith, so his trickery had worked. Watson was hiding behind the
bedhead, so he was able to confirm everything Smith s nefarious acts. Whereas Mr. Abbott s
medication was actually the poison used to kill Mrs. Abbott. The twelve men decided and came to a
verdict for Mrs. Abbott to take the pills that would be venomous to her body and heart. Although both
stories have situational irony in them, how the irony was utilized differs. The situational irony in An
Invitation to a Murder is how Mrs. Abbott planned to blame the twelve men for her husband s murder,
yet she was killed. Eleanor Abbott was confident she would be free, instead she had her life taken

Independence Of Indi Mahatma Gandhi
There were many Indian nationalists who had wriggled against the British, who had seized the whole
country of India. On the one hand, nationalists were extremists, who had fought against the British
army and sacrifice their lives for the country, while on the other hand, there were modernists, who had
made peaceful and non violent movements against British. These events were marked as of
prominence importance in the history. One of the greatest examples of nationalists in India was
Mahatma Gandhi, a modernist. He had employed Satyagraha (passive resistance) movements like Salt
March, Mass movements, and Quit India movement. He had also made his clothes from a spinning
wheel instead of buying them from English people. As a result of these movements, he made India an
independent nation and gained lots of reverence from Indians
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born at October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, a small, seaside town in
the Kathiawar peninsula in western India about halfway between Mumbai and Karachi. He was born
at rich family. He was married to Kasturba at age thirteen. Since he was from a rich background, his
relatives were able to send him to England for better education. At England, he studied at University
College of London and became a lawyer. After his education, he went to South Africa to work as a
lawyer. At South Africa, his attendance was required at the lawsuit in Pretoria. So, he took the train
and moved in the first class compartment at first class tickets.

The Major Causes Of The French Revolution 1789-1799
During the time period 1789 1799, France experienced a revolution, known as the French Revolution.
French citizens, particularly the Third Estate fought for equality and a fresh political landscape. This
revolution altered the economic, social, political, and cultural aspects of France. People often banter
about what was the main factor that triggered the outbreak of the French Revolution. What most
people do not understand is that the Revolution was caused by many different factors. The French
Revolution (1789 1799) was caused by three main factors, which were the ideas formed throughout
the Enlightenment, problems regarding the inequality of the social classes, and a lack of legislative
government. The Ideas brought from the Enlightenment became the most influential in sparking the
French Revolution, as it led to the other causes occurring.
The most influential cause of the French Revolution, were the ideas of the Enlightenment. The
enlightenment provided new thoughts and ideas to the people of France, allowing knowledge to be
broadened widely among French citizens, exposing the many flaws in the government, taxes, and the
social system. Specifically, the Enlightenment provided ideas focused on the cultural and
philosophical point of view among the populace. One main reason the revolution was caused by this
Enlightenment time period was because the ideas of ruling strictly prohibited the divine rights of kings
and queens, which France had at the time. Many renowned

Internal and external sources of finance for Tesco
Internal sources of finance (Tesco)
Retained earnings:
A source of finance used by Tesco is retained earnings. Tesco re invest a certain percentage of their
end of the year profits back into Tesco, so they can improve it. Each year Tesco decide how much
money they re invest, this depends on the profit they make.
Fixed assets:
Another type of an internal source of finance for Tesco is fixed assets. Fixed assets are an asset that is
not consumer or sold during the normal course of business, these are land, buildings, equipment,
machinery, vehicles etc. These assets are very hard to convert into cash as it takes time to sell, Tesco

Government Grants:
Tesco are Britain s biggest supermarket and due to this they employ thousands. The government can
give Tesco grants and money to invest back into Tesco. The government will benefit because if Tesco
invest the money wisely they will have a successful year therefore the government will receive more
tax. An example of Tesco receiving a government grant was in 2009 when they received £5 million to
open a new store in Glasgow.
HP:
Hire purchase is when a company or person lends out goods to companies for a short period of time,
with added interest. Tesco could benefit if they were the company as they would lend out equipment,
machinery, property and vehicles, as they would gain interest and also regain some of their investment
into the product.
Suppliers credit:
Supplier s credit is when a supplier offers the buyer the product they want on credit. This is like
getting a loan of sorts as Tesco can pay at a later date. This benefits Tesco as they can order as much

Canadian Copyright Law
There are various comparable qualities among Canadian and American copyright, for instance, the
general walks in the application strategy. Regardless, every so often Canadian lawyer and clients make
wrong assumptions about US copyright laws that can essentially influence a copyright case. Besides,
some US lawyers and clients erroneously acknowledge more resemblance between Canadian laws and
US than truly exists. The Canadian copyright law is important in today s day in age because it helps
ensure the author gets the credits necessary for their work and protects their work. This will be shown
through the following points in the article below. The Canadian copyright law has a stronger copyright

Fog In Apocalypse Now

fog constraints mankind by physically limiting visibility and trapping men within their own minds
causing their behavior to be irrational. Fog is symbolic of misery. Heart of Darkness uses thick fog as
an obstacle to halt the crew s expedition to find Kurtz. Marlow, the crew s captain, does not allow the
fog to stop his devotion to Kurtz and pushes forward on his mission to rescue him. In Apocalypse

Similarities Between Blurred Lines And Marvin Gaye
Blurred Lines and Marvin Gaye In 2013, the song Blurred Lines was released by Robin Thicke. The
song was a huge number one hit in America. However, many individuals felt that Blurred Lines eerily
resembled the song Got to Give it Up by Marvin Gaye. The similarities between the two songs
eventually brought about a lawsuit amongst Robin Thicke, along with Pharrell Williams, and Marvin
Gaye s family. When the case was taken to court, the jury determined that Robin Thicke and Pharrell
Williams had in fact committed an act of plagiarism. The case granted Marvin Gaye s children a large
sum of cash due to the money earned from Blurred Lines , and the artists associated with the song,
Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams. Robin Thicke s lawyers

Spread Of Christianity Research Paper
THE SPREAD OF CHRISTIANITY DURING THE TIME OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE.
Introduction
Speaking about Christians and not discussing the doctrines of Christianity becomes an obscure task.
The reason for this obscurity is that without Christianity to support them, Christians would not even
exist. The very term, Christian, comes from the religion of Christianity and means Christ like. For
those wondering how far back the existence of Christians can be dated, it is worth noting here that
there are mentions of Christians in the New Testament Acts 11:26. While originally, the term Christian
was used only to describe the followers of Christianity; these days, anything simply associated with
Christianity is called as Christian a Christian restaurant, a Christian ... Show more content on

In fact, it did just the opposite, strengthening Christianity in the second and third centuries by forcing
it to become more organized. Fear of persecution meant that only the most committed individuals
would choose to follow the outlawed faith. Crucial to this change was the emerging role of the
bishops, who began to assume more control over church communities. The Christian church was
creating a new structure in which the clergy (the church leaders) had distinct functions separate from
the laity (the regular church members). Christianity grew quickly in the first century, took root in the
second, and by the third had spread widely. Why was Christianity able to attract so many followers?
First, the Christian message had much to offer the Roman world. The Roman state based religion was
impersonal and existed for the good of Rome. Christianity was personal and offered salvation and
eternal life to individuals. Christianity gave meaning and purpose to life. Second, Christianity seemed
familiar. It was viewed by some as similar to other religions, offering immortality as the result of the
sacrificial death of a

Effects Of Cultural Imperialism In Nepal
The fact of the culture of a large and powerful country, organization, etc. having a great influence on
another less powerful country, etc: is known as cultural imperialism.(Cambridge) .There are many
ways in which a stronger country can have power over a weaker one, however, in the 21st century,
cultural imperialism is the most effective and easily applicable. Spreading one s own influence over
other s takes time. For the past many years, the U.S. has had a very powerful influence on many
countries of North America, Europe and Asia, including Nepal. There are many factors that contribute
to the ever so definite cultural imperialism of the U.S seen in Nepal. The expansion of media, which

It is very common for the nepalese students to go abroad for studies after finishing their high school.
And the country that most of the students choose to go to is america. In my own school, I saw many of
my seniors leaving for the U.S. after their high school was over. No one would be surprised to hear the
students say that they were leaving their home country and going to the U.S. to pursue higher
education. The juniors would be desirous and show their desire to go abroad to study. The main
reasons that promote going abroad to pursue higher educatio, especially to the U.S, are (1) the
absorptive capacity of American higher education, (2) the quality of American higher education, (3)
the complementarity of Asian demand and American supply and (4) the opportunities provided in
American higher education to cover educational costs through part time work.( Context Author(s):

facilities make it easier for the students to leave their families and homeland and end up in a foreign

Maximum Safe Velocity On The Car
Maximum Safe Velocity
Scenario 1
The two forces acting on the car when it turns a circular path are centripetal force, FCP , and friction,
Ff . As mentioned in Relevant Physics Topics, the direction of friction opposes the direction of
motion, which, in this scenario, is centripetal force, and because centripetal force directs towards the
center of the circle, friction directs outside of the circle (Madden et al., 2001). To calculate the safe
cornering speed on a level road, centripetal force has to equal friction so that the vehicle isn t sliding
in or out of the road. The formula was developed in Calculation 4 from the Appendix.
The derived formula was v=√(μs*r*g)
By substituting the numerical values in the equation, the maximum safe cornering speeds were
calculated in following table: *Note: μs=0.9 is dry condition, μs=0.7 is wet condition
Scenario 2
In this scenario, a vehicle is turning right downwards an incline. In this case, the x component, of the
normal force is greater than centripetal force and the vehicle is wanting to slide down the incline,
towards the center of the curve. However, friction opposes the motion and pull the car up the incline to
keep the car from sliding (Stanbrough, 2006). This is shown in Diagram 3.
Before calculating the maximum speed of safe cornering, the angle θ needs to be found. This was
done in Calculation 2 from the Appendix.
Using θ, x and y components were found and substituted to solve v in Calculation 5.
Scenario 3

Family Farm Research Paper
In this essay I m going to write about how different markets in the world are linked together. I am
going to talk about how in my life different markets are related on our family farm. In the farming
business and agriculture field in general, there is so many markets that can be linked in so many ways
it is crazy. The process is literally endless with buying, selling, feeding, caring for, protecting and
many others. I m just going to start off with the raising animal s aspect. We raise beef cows and calves,
pigs and run a steer finishing lot. The beginning process with the animals is actually buying them to
start your business. You could buy the cows at the local cattle auction and raise them to become your
own. In the process of raising these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now you been raising these animals for the last 12 15 months. You have invested so much money in
them and that is why you are now going to take them to the market and sell them for a profit.
Obviously you are trying to sell these animals for a higher price than what you bought them at. In the
cattle market the price are so up and down because of other factors in the economy.
There are so many other thing that are related to raising animals. All the equipment and building
needed to raise them. There fields of where they came from, how they were built and how they got
where they are. The veterinary bills for surprising accidents. The electricity, machinery need for
transporting and planting/harvesting, and so many others things that you can t even imagine.
The whole process of linked things in our world is really endless. You don t ever really realize how
and why everything is connected, but it is in some shape or form. I narrowed it down to the agriculture
field because it is an important area of our interactive world. The agriculture field may be a small part
to some people but once they realize how the agriculture field is related to the rest of the world they
can understand the importance of

Odysseus Influence On Botan
Carl Linnaeus was born on May 23, 1701, in Småland, Sweden. Linnaeus adored plants, even at a
young age. His father Niles, an amateur botanist, taught Linnaeus basic botany. Linnaeus primarily
went to Uppsala University to study medicine, botany and he eventually wrote a thesis on plant sexual
reproduction. Linnaeus then went to Lapland, and after six months he had discovered about 100
plants. He then set out for the Netherlands to get his doctoral degree at the University of Harderwijk.
After that, on 1735, Linnaeus published his first edition of Systema Naturae, which fully introduced
Linnaean taxonomy. Linnaean taxonomy was partially discovered before by Gaspard and Johann
Bauhin 200 years ago, but Linnaeus was the first to use it consistently

additional process that assists human resources in the recruitment of talented individuals who are
capable of supporting the existing and prospective goals and objectives of an organization. (TM)
responsibility is to identify the talents of future and current employees, build on the talents while
motivating the employees in becoming future leaders for the organization. An organization should
align (TP) and (TM) through a strategic connection, through this alignment they will be able to clearly

Carl Joyner Spoke To Analysis
Last Friday we had the pleasure of being spoke to by Carl Joyner who is the CEO, Founder and
President of Triose. One thing that was interesting about his presentation was that he didn t talk much
about his company or any jobs he had. He focused mainly on his philosophy, determination and
personal story. He started with a simple but meaningful message that has inspired him all throughout
his life. There s a better way to do it . He claimed that this little message is what powered him to be
successful and innovative in the healthcare arena. He talked of his time at Penske and how they
changed their supply chain to maximize efficiency and reach more consumers. Next, he covered the
Dot Com revolution and how it influenced his experience in the business world. I found that he was
very informative, straight forward and held nothing back. I could tell that he genuinely wanted to

He is objective and self aware which allows him to recognize when he is being irrational along with
identifying it in others too. He seems like a critical thinker and a businessman who keeps a level head,
thinks through his problems and picks the best option. His confidence, after being nurtured, grows into
a tool that clearly helped him throughout his life. These are just a few of the tools/skills he uses to
accomplish tasks and succeed.
Carl Joyner truly inspired me with his talk and I am grateful that he gave such a good presentation for
I learned many things. He inspired me to study myself and know what I am capable of before diving
into some new endeavor. This is a very smart and safe way to operate because you know the flaws and
perks contained in yourself. I think that was his best point and my biggest take away. I look forward to
the next time I can learn from someone as intelligent, experienced and gutsy as Mr.

The Regression Model Of The United States
First of all, I would like to mention that it is more reasonable to compare the models that are based on
the same data, so I tried to use the same variables and the same missing value treatment approach
(excluding decision tree) to all of the models.
All the 3 models showed a performance of nearly the same quality, according to the various lift charts
produced and presented in the further parts of the report.
However, the difference becomes more evident on the % captured response and the most efficient and
useful model turns out to be the logistic regression model.
It is described in a greater detail in part 4 of this report.
This ROC plot indicates that the logistic regression is also efficient in terms of trade off between ...

2. Recommended Model Decision Tree
The recommended decision tree model includes 2 variables : annual income and loans, both of them
are interval variables and represent the original observations. They were chosen for the final model,
because after several trials, they proved to be the key ones in determining the rules within decision
trees.
In terms of missing values, nothing particular had to be done, because decision trees conveniently
handle missing values by default.
As for the splitting criterion, after getting more knowledge about each of the criteria and performing
numerous trials , Gini was chosen, due to its ability to measure the differences between the values of a
frequency distribution.
Presented below is the model assessment graph that represents the misclassification rates at each
number of leaves.
As can be seen from the graph, the model enables to reduce the difference between the training and
actual sets compared to other situations when different settings were used and different variables
included.
Another indicator of this model s usefulness is the lift value graph. The base line represents the
nonexistence of our prediction model, while the intercept of the red line states that with this decision
tree we can identify 3,7% more bad customers than we would have done without it.

Piracy of Digitized Music Essay
The music industry has developed in a series of technological advances, from the development of
vinyl to the digitization of music and the creation of formats such as compact disc (CD), digital
audiotape, and minidisk (Leyshon 2001). Although the digitized music facilitates consumers, it causes
the appearance of piracy and the drop of sales. The subject of piracy has occurred for a certain period.
Since 1920 s, music piracy has appeared into the world with the production of cassette tapes, voice
recorders, and CDs, which brought a new kind of event to court. Moreover, music piracy has become
a worldwide issue due to the development of downloading music via the internet.

The majority of released recordings (approximately 85%),cannot even balance revenues and
expenditures. In addition, 15% profitable recordings are relied on greatly by the recording companies,
who use them to subsidise less profitable types of music to cover the costs of developing new artists,
and to keep their businesses operational, while downloaders often do not focus on that. Finally, the
most direct victims are the creative artists which include musicians, singers, songwriters and
producers, for the royalties and fees have not been earned by themselves. Virtually about 95% of
artists rely on these fees to make a living and their reputations which are discredited by the inferior
quality of pirated copies spreaded to the public.
Therefore, music piracy is destroying both the music industry and anything that relies on the music
industry.
Positive effects
However, music piracy also brings benefits to the music industry. At first, it is a way access to get the
departed music that is no longer to republish. As a result of the way of constructing contracts, the
music record labels are not holden by artists themselves that their new label is not allowed to produce
as the old one, and if the old label decides not to republish anymore or release the songs, the music is
generally dead. Music downloading is the only way for most people to get these dead songs. In the
second place, pirating music

  • 2. Memory Of Trauma Another limitation that can appear when examining the memory of trauma is that trauma victims do not elicit the same response to trauma. Individuals who experience psychological trauma, physical trauma or both all remember the abuse differently. Many trauma victims may have repressed those memories or simply forget the explicit details about their traumatic experiences. Toth and Cicchetti (1998) argue that victims will elicit different responses of they are diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and experience trauma on a single or multiple occurrence. • 4. Slaughter From War Strikes Antietam Analysis Slaughter from War Strikes Antietam! On September 17th, The Battle of Antietam took place and is the bloodiest single day in American History. Many men sacrificed their lives in this battle to protect what we hold dear in unity as a nation. In this battle 23,000 casualties, dead, injured, and missing, were suffered in just 12 hours of warfare(Staff 1). The four men that lie dead in this photograph are all in an open field and all appear to be in Union uniforms. These men were presumingly lined shoulder to shoulder, as is custom in war, while advancing on the confederate soldiers lines. The fence behind these soldiers is missing many of its planks suggesting that many bullets were fired at these soldiers as the advanced towards the confederate lines. This fence is symbolic because with the fence post missing it truly shows the amount of fire that these men were under as they marched their way across the battlefield(Battle of Antietam 1). This battle came after a brutal campaign by the South who had just won The 2nd Battle of Bull Run as well as The Seven Days Battle. Lee s unprecedented plan to start invading the North was seen as unorthodox because all the South needed to do was survive until the citizen s of the North got upset with the war and lost the will to fight. Lee s plan to invade the North was to invade the Maryland which remained loyal to the union and get a crushing blow in union territory. He was also hoping that some dissenting slave owners in Maryland would join the Southern forces to help fight the North in this battle. • 6. A Model Of Governance Through Capitalistic Ideals Want to know a little known fact? Local government is one of the most influential factors in the American way of life, but it is not even mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. Essentially the Constitution set up national and state governments but leaves local governments out creating a gray area. This area has been filled with many different methods and types of government. One of the ideas which pertains to filling this gray area is the Tiebout model. In essence this is a model of governance through capitalistic ideals. In the Tiebout model cities and metros are divided up into micro jurisdiction entice or deter specific citizens based on the jurisdicition s services and taxes. This train of thought assumes things about the people who live in these cities. These assumptions, applied to a simple majority, would surely ensure this methods success, but it may not be feasible. Because many dislike the Tiebout method revision can be made and there are numerous alternatives also. In order for the Tiebout model to be successful, at least two assumptions must be made about citizens. The first assumption that must be made is that the average, or at least the majority, of citizens are both informed and motived to stay up to date on policies. Each citizens would need to commit to enough different news sources to understand local politics and its entirety. This applies to obvious things like watching tax changes in their local government, as well as other areas. It also entail ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Given the complexity of both the intelligence and law enforcement communities and their many overlapping jurisdictions, it was inevitable that key information would slip through the cracks between agencies. The inability to analyze and link critical information across (or even within an agency) is referred to as linkage blindness and will be a major theme throughout this book. In part, the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001, and its reauthorization in 2005 were executive and legislative responses to the problem of linkage blindness by organizing diffuse and autonomous law enforcement agencies and strengthening the government s abilities to obtain information. Stephen Flynn (2001) provides a useful illustration of this critical law enforcement problem, referring to the arrival of a hypothetical ship with questionable cargo and a crew on an intelligence watch list for potential terrorist ties: The Coast Guard would be likely to know about the scheduled arrival of a tanker carrying hazardous cargo. The Customs Service might have some advance cargo manifest information. The INS might or might not know much about the crew, depending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. What I Learned When I Get A Traffic Ticket September 9, 2015 was the first time I have ever gotten a ticket. It happened when I was in junior college in Arizona. A lesson I learned is that speeding turns into going to court. My court date was set for November 4th which was a Wednesday. I remember waking up that morning and thinking to myself, What the hell did I just get myself into? I was so nervous that before I left Arizona Western Community College to head to the Yuma Municipal Court, I went to my bathroom and threw my guts out. Yes, I know it s only a traffic ticket but I have never been to court in my whole life. So the drive over to the court was probably the longest drive ever. It felt like when I drive from Ashland to Portland. My Aunty Donna who was the Poly mom for all the polynesian boys who played football at Arizona Western brought me something to eat so I didn t pass out in court. Even after she brought me Mcdonald s, I was still feeling a bit groggy but I just said to myself that I am a man and I will face the consequences that I am given. For some reason I thought I was going to jail for a couple of days and Donna was telling me the whole time, STOP you are not going to jail for a traffic ticket! Yes, as silly as I sound thinking I was going to jail for a traffic ticket, it was all surreal and I was so scared and nervous. When I got to Yuma Municipal Court I walked in and saw the metal detectors. I was thinking to myself that the only place I have seen these things was in the airport right ... In this time period, at the moment, there are new medical discoveries every day. These breakthroughs range from new diseases prevention methods, to new cures for previously terminal illnesses. So, because our society is constantly changing, evolving, and improving, it is absolutely necessary to keep up with the awareness of these new discoveries. One disorder that has existed for years, but has recently gained a lot of awareness is Autism. Autism is defined as a disorder in brain development that ultimately affects its victims everyday social interaction (Autismspeaks.org) . Signs and symptoms of Autism are usually shown in early childhood, and are easily detected by parents, if they are aware. However, if a parent or guardian notices any signs, they should take action immediately. How fast they take action in this situation could make or break the future of their child. Many symptoms have been connected to autism, and they are seen the best in these areas; behavior, social skills, and speech. A child s guardian can observe these symptoms in these areas to further increase the accuracy of the diagnosis. The average adult lacks the professional training that psychologists and behaviourists have, so they may only be able to zero in on high frequency behavior (Zwaigenbaum 2008). • 11. The Theory Of Feminist Care Ethics A moral theory determines what is right or wrong based off a structured set of statements. There are many different moral theories each obtaining their own set of guidelines for determining whether an action is morally right or wrong. In this paper I consider one objection against feminist care ethics. First I will outline the theory, and then discuss in detail the aspects of the theory that the objection targets. Next I will explain what the objection states. Lastly I will describe why it is a serious problem with the theory. Feminist Care Ethics is a moral theory that is mainly focuses on emotions and caring for those we are responsible for. There are many features within this theory. First, the main focus of feminist care ethics is attending to whom we are responsible for. The theory acknowledges that throughout a lifetime there are times where people will need to be cared for whether it is in their early years or later. Those who are responsible for a person in need of care have an obligation to care for them. For example a mother to her dependent child or a daughter to her ill mother or father (Held, 2006, p. 478 9). Second, what is considered to be moral or immoral should be based off of valued emotions. Valued emotions are sympathy, empathy, sensitivity, and responsiveness. These are valued because they are considered kind and moral. I support this part of the theory because other moral theories rely on reason and rationalistic deductions and calculations in order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Invitation To Murder Comparing and Contrasting An Invitation to a Murder and The Dying Detective An Invitation to a Murder was written by Josh Pachter and The Dying Detective was scripted by Michael and Mollie Hardwick. There are very distinct differences between the novella and script; however, they have commonalities among them too. An Invitation to a Murder revolves around Eleanor Abbott and twelve other men who stood by the law detectives, investigators, judges, and so on. Meanwhile, The Dying Detective was about Sherlock Holmes framing a man for murder to prove that the man, Culverton Smith was guilty for a punishable act. The audience can compare and contrast to indicate these similarities and differences hidden in the two passages. First ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A locked room mystery is a mystery in which a seemingly impossible crime is committed; for example, a crime occurs in a room that does not allow an entrance or exit for the criminal. In this case, it had seemed preposterous to how Mrs. Abbott was going to kill Mr. Abbott and blame the twelve men. Branigan and Coszyck kept Mrs. Abbott in place, but by the time it was eleven o clock, Mr. Abbott had died without Mrs. Abbott even laying a single finger on him! Another difference was the poison used in the stories. In The Dying Detective , the poison was a plant which killed Victor Savage, Smith s cousin. Smith attempted to use the same plant on Holmes in order to murder him. Holmes had feigned his death at that time to fool Smith, so his trickery had worked. Watson was hiding behind the bedhead, so he was able to confirm everything Smith s nefarious acts. Whereas Mr. Abbott s medication was actually the poison used to kill Mrs. Abbott. The twelve men decided and came to a verdict for Mrs. Abbott to take the pills that would be venomous to her body and heart. Although both stories have situational irony in them, how the irony was utilized differs. The situational irony in An Invitation to a Murder is how Mrs. Abbott planned to blame the twelve men for her husband s murder, yet she was killed. French citizens, particularly the Third Estate fought for equality and a fresh political landscape. This revolution altered the economic, social, political, and cultural aspects of France. People often banter about what was the main factor that triggered the outbreak of the French Revolution. What most people do not understand is that the Revolution was caused by many different factors. The French Revolution (1789 1799) was caused by three main factors, which were the ideas formed throughout the Enlightenment, problems regarding the inequality of the social classes, and a lack of legislative government. The Ideas brought from the Enlightenment became the most influential in sparking the French Revolution, as it led to the other causes occurring. The most influential cause of the French Revolution, were the ideas of the Enlightenment. The enlightenment provided new thoughts and ideas to the people of France, allowing knowledge to be broadened widely among French citizens, exposing the many flaws in the government, taxes, and the social system. Specifically, the Enlightenment provided ideas focused on the cultural and philosophical point of view among the populace. One main reason the revolution was caused by this Enlightenment time period was because the ideas of ruling strictly prohibited the divine rights of kings and queens, which France had at the time. The reason for this obscurity is that without Christianity to support them, Christians would not even exist. The very term, Christian, comes from the religion of Christianity and means Christ like. For those wondering how far back the existence of Christians can be dated, it is worth noting here that there are mentions of Christians in the New Testament Acts 11:26. The Christian church was creating a new structure in which the clergy (the church leaders) had distinct functions separate from the laity (the regular church members). Christianity grew quickly in the first century, took root in the second, and by the third had spread widely. Why was Christianity able to attract so many followers? First, the Christian message had much to offer the Roman world. The Roman state based religion was impersonal and existed for the good of Rome. The main reasons that promote going abroad to pursue higher educatio, especially to the U.S, are (1) the absorptive capacity of American higher education, (2) the quality of American higher education, (3) the complementarity of Asian demand and American supply and (4) the opportunities provided in American higher education to cover educational costs through part time work.( Context Author(s): William K. • 27. Maximum Safe Velocity On The Car Maximum Safe Velocity Scenario 1 The two forces acting on the car when it turns a circular path are centripetal force, FCP , and friction, Ff . As mentioned in Relevant Physics Topics, the direction of friction opposes the direction of motion, which, in this scenario, is centripetal force, and because centripetal force directs towards the center of the circle, friction directs outside of the circle (Madden et al., 2001). To calculate the safe cornering speed on a level road, centripetal force has to equal friction so that the vehicle isn t sliding in or out of the road. The formula was developed in Calculation 4 from the Appendix. The derived formula was v=√(μs*r*g) By substituting the numerical values in the equation, the maximum safe cornering speeds were calculated in following table: *Note: μs=0.9 is dry condition, μs=0.7 is wet condition Scenario 2 In this scenario, a vehicle is turning right downwards an incline. In this case, the x component, of the normal force is greater than centripetal force and the vehicle is wanting to slide down the incline, towards the center of the curve. However, friction opposes the motion and pull the car up the incline to keep the car from sliding (Stanbrough, 2006). This is shown in Diagram 3. Before calculating the maximum speed of safe cornering, the angle θ needs to be found. This was done in Calculation 2 from the Appendix.
