Examples Of Anti-Hero In Inception
An anti hero can be defined as a character with a pivotal role in a story and possess traits contrasted
with those of a traditional hero. While the traditional heroic character is brave, strong, and seems to
have no flaws, anti hero character can be clumsy, unsolicited foolish, is often the embodiment of
ineptitude or bad luck and is an amalgamation of both good and evil. An anti heroic character in a
story can display a wide variety of traits while still fitting in the anti hero role. Earnes and Yusuf from
the film Inception portrays an anti hero persona in different ways, both characters are distinctively
contrasting but yet similarly alike.
Eames is a character with many talents and is a suave, smoothly attracting people easily. He also
shows his competitive spirit while gambling, however in other hand, he is also laid back. He is reliable
with his specialty which is forging, but he is somewhat of a loner, choosing to work apart from the rest
of the group for most of the missions which shows his lack of social skills and avoids to take
responsibility. Eame s anti heroic characteristic can be assumed ... Show more content on

Furthermore, anti heroic characters are the reflection of the audience. It is in nature for people to get
scared when in danger, however heroic characters normally do not or easily overcome. The ethical
conflicts and poltroonery in survival situation could be fury to the audience at first, but since it is real
life emotions it is instinct for normal people that the audience can relate. On the contrary, if the movie
is only filled with heroic character that is overly righteous and upright, the audience will find it too
good to be true and have trouble immersing into the film. This is what makes the anti heroic characters
relatable and likable, they are easy to relate and connect more on a human

The Importance of Legal and Ethnical Standards for Technology
The Importance of Legal and Ethnical Standards for Technology Everyday millions of people are
using the Internet. The Internet gives people the freedom to look up and download a variety of
information. But where is the line drawn to determine how far someone is allowed to go when using
the Internet? Laws and regulations for the Internet are just as important as they are in everyday life.
Netiquette, Acceptable Use Policies, and Copyright laws are exceptionally vital when using the
Internet. Netiquette is etiquette for the Internet. It is a set of ten rules for behaving properly online.

The seventh rule is to help keep flame wars under control (Shea). Flaming is what people do when
they express a strongly held opinion without holding back an emotion (Shea). The eighth rule of
Netiquette is to respect other people s privacy (Shea). The ninth rule is to not abuse your power
(Shea). Knowing more than others, or having more power than they do, does not give you the right to
take advantage of them. The last rule of Netiquette is to be forgiving of other people s mistakes
(Shea). Internet etiquette is necessary when going online. The rules are simple and easy to abide by.
Guidelines for using the web help to minimize possible mistakes. Acceptable use policies are policies
created by companies stating what is okay when using an Internet site. The acceptable use policy has
been created to promote integrity, security, reliability and privacy of a company s web site
management facility, network, and customer data contained within. A company retains the right to

Formalism And New Criticism
Formalism is a form of literary criticism that focuses on the formal parts of a literary work. It was
started in Russia in the 1910s by two groups led by Roman Jakobson and Viktor Shklovsky. This type
typically examines the structure of papers closely and relates them to their meanings. This type of
criticism views the work separately from the author and does not account for the author s emotions or
beliefs. Formalists also tend to focuses on the defamiliarization aspect of a work and how foreign the
language can make everyday occurences feel.New Criticism emerged out of formalism in the 1940s
60s. This school of though typically examines the language used in literary text to uncover deeper
meanings. Like formalism, New Criticism ignores the context of the work and solely focuses on its
contents. They wanted to make intellectual programs more rigorous by focusing on structure alone. ...

This form typically focuses on interpreting literary works from a female viewpoint. This often leads to
examining the inherently patriarchal nature of society. Feminist criticism also tends to raise awareness
to marginalizing aspects of language and gender stereotypes that continue to be perpetuated by
society. Another major part of feminist criticism is the frequency with which these critics tnd to note
the differences in style between male and female authors. New Historicism was developed once critics
realized that the old form of hisorividm no longer satisfied their needs. They believe that history is
only one perspective out of many possibility because every work is biased and subjective. Strongly
influenced by Michel Foucault, history began to be seen as on of the many ways that the past could be
revealed. New Historicism believes that authors cannot escape the culture of the time and, therefore,
their works could not be objective. This leads to critics searching for power struggles among the many

The Creation Of Western Civilization
From its beginnings at the foundation of ancient Greece, our present humanity has evolved itself to be
focused on the value of each individual. The contradiction in terms of Western civilization, however,
was also was made obvious right from the start. The Greek s attention on individuals arose from a
slavery based society. The focus on individual rights created both a democratic system and an increase
in learning, as well as scientific revolutions that would remain unique until the Renaissance. Adding
onto the Greek groundwork, the Romans furthered another significant keystone of Western
civilization; the establishment of laws. Through the collapse of Rome and increasing Germanic
barbarian invasions, the foundations of Western civilization had fundamentally vanished. They were
not put back into effect until the Italian Renaissance inspired massive attention to the traditional texts.
As a result, a change in European thinking switched from The Almighty back to the individual.
Starting chiefly as a theocratic and nationalist movement, the Reformation in Germany provided an
assortment of nationwide securities. It prohibited the Roman Church from restricting academic
discussion in northern Europe. New translations of the Bible also resulted in the expansion of vulgar
languages which encouraged literacy and education. The Enlightenment brought us even closer to
achieving westernized democracy, inquiring deeper into both religion and tyranny. Many French
philosophers held an

Suicide In Edwidge Danticat s A Wall Of Fire Rising
Hope is salvation. It is the thing we seek in times of distress and hardship. But more often than not we
put our hope of a better future to be passed down to our next generation. Krik? Krak! By Edwidge
Danticat, is a collection of stories, which try their best to explain the tough challenges Haitian people
experience in Haiti and even outside of it. Because of these challenges and hardships, Danticat
portrays the idea of when people go through suffering , the hope of a better fate lies in the future
generation.
In A Wall of Fire Rising Guy foreshadows his feeling of suicide and his hope for Little Guy to move
on with Lili. Before Guy commits suicide by jumping off the hot air balloon, he hints us his feeling of

hope of finding a better home, is embedded within his son. We learn in Between the Pool and
Gardenias that Lili commits suicide after her son departs to Miami, leaving her in Haiti. Interestingly
enough, both the stories are connected by this faintl detail of Lili and her son. But, this also relates to
Guy s hope for Little Guy, My godmother Lili, who killed herself in old age because her husband had

NEED FOR THE STUDY Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a safe and efficacious treatment; there
is a widespread negative view of electroconvulsive therapy in public and professional circles. Clinical
experience and research have resulted in continued improvements to the efficacy and safety of
electroconvulsive therapy. It is necessary to conduct research on this basis to modify the
misconceptions and prejudices about the electroconvulsive therapy8 Numerous studies have addressed
the issue of knowledge and attitude towards ECT not only among the patients and their relatives but
also among the lay public, among adolescent patients and their parents, and also among health
professionals including psychiatrists. Concerns were frequently expressed, probably because ECT was
not fully understood by the patients and their families. Many studies reported that patients and their

Test Crt Should Be Used Rather Than Norm Referenced Tests
Criterion Referenced Tests CRT Should Be Used Rather Than Norm Referenced Tests NRT The
assessment looks at the wide variety of methods that educators use to evaluate and determined the
achievement of the student s educational need. The focus of this essay is to look at the Criterion
Referenced Tests (CRT) and the Norm Referenced Tests (NRT) usage to see why the Criterion
Referenced Tests should be used rather than the Norm Referenced Tests. The learning standards and
the curriculum will be discussed to help determine why the CRT should be used rather than the NRT.
Also, we will take a look at the principal use of how the two methods differ by one using survey
testing and the other mastery testing. I will give my informed opinion throughout the essay. The
Criterion Referenced Tests measure the performance against a fix set of predetermined learning
standards. This means that there will be written descriptions of what students are expected to know
and are able to do in each learning outcome unit stage in the course. This method of assessment is
done to evaluate what skills the student has learned. The learning standards will measure how well a
student has mastered the specific skill described in the national learning standards (Waugh Gronlund,
2013). Since the teachers and the schools can develop their own learning standards, this will help the
students to be able to accomplish the learning objective performance outcome expected in my opinion.

Due: April 3rd 2012 Professor: Dr. B. Schoffstall Introduction In a normal human being the heart
correctly functions by the blood first entering through the right atrium from the superior and inferior
vena cava. This blood flow continues through the right atrioventricular valve into the right ventricle.
The right ventricle contracts forcing the pulmonary valve to open leading blood flow through the
pulmonary valve and into the pulmonary trunk. Blood is then distributed from the right and left

Received on April 1, 2012 from Bio 240 Lab PowerPoint on Blackboard. When I did my own EKG
lab testing I used the following materials: BIOPAC electrode lead set (SS2L), BIOPAC disposable
vinyl electrodes (EL503), Cot, BIOPAC electrodes, Computer Sytem, BIOPAC Student Lab software
v3.0 or greater, and BIOPAC acquisition unit (MP30). When all these materials are available the
computer was turned on and three of the electrodes were placed on the body of my teammate. Two
electrodes were positioned on the medial surface of each leg just above the ankle, and the last
electrode was on the right anterior forearm at her wrist. When these were attached the subject was
asked to lie down on the cot and relax. We then attached her to the EKG machine with three colored
cables. The white cable was placed on the electrode on the right forearm, the black cable was placed
on right leg and the red cable was attached to the electrode on the left leg. Once the patient was
correctly hooked up to the EKG the BIOPAC Student Lab Program was started. Lesson five is the one
we used for this experiment and once it had been chosen we label it and started the experiment. There
were four conditions we needed to measure; the first being lying down. The subject was lying down
relaxing on the cot. We clicked record and let it run for 20 seconds. The data resembled the chart

fact that obstacles were constantly thrown at them. Although women have always had to fight against

Their freedom yet horrific fear, was given by the lack of laws during this time. Weapons were very

Civil War Dbq Research Paper
The Civil War arose through the desire of southern states that wanted to secede from the Union when
Abraham Lincoln became the sixteenth president of the United States. These states believed that
Lincoln s point of abolition of slavery would harm them. Therefore, they declared for the secession.
However, the Federal Government never wanted the separation in the country, so they rejected this
declaration and tried to preserve the Union. This led to the Civil War in which the Federal
Government got the final winning. Through signing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, the
Federal Government could achieve abolition of slavery in the whole country. However, the issue of
slavery still existed vaguely. There were few issues relating to citizenship of African descents born in
America and rights for voting. Moreover, Lincoln recognized that the Emancipation Proclamation
might have no constitutional validity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All southern states that had been parts of the Confederacy were demanded to admit this amendment
before reentering to the Union. This amendment ensured that neither slavery nor involuntary servitude
would exist in the United States. The 14th amendment was passed in 1866 and ratified in 1868. This
amendment addressed citizenship rights to all people who were born in America. It recognized the
citizenship for African American born here even though their origin was former slaves. It meant that
all American citizens, even white race or black race, were equal in citizenship rights and protection of
the laws. Black people could receive the same treatment as white people. Lastly, the 15th amendment
ratified in 1870 prohibited discrimination in voting rights based on race, color, or previous condition
of servitude. It ensured that all citizens had same rights in voting because some southern state

Piaget Juice Observation Essay
Research report
By Christopher Brockwell
Abstract
The theory being tested was Piaget s Conservation experiment. It involved one participant, two stools,
a round table, a tablecloth, one tall tubular glass and two beaker glasses (both filled with juice). The
aim of this experiment was to test whether the participant could distinguish which out of the two
beakers (one tall and thin, the other short and rotund) contained the most juice.
In response to the question posed, the participant responded that the tall tubular glass contained the
most juice, even though both contained the same amount of juice. Piaget predicted a new logic would
enter the mind forming a new kind of intelligence. Research showed that unevenness instead of

Donaldson argued that children form a model of the world by formulating hypotheses that help
anticipate events in the future on the basis of past experiences. The child therefore has expectations
about any scenario and their interpretation of the words they hear will be influenced by the
expectations they bring to the situation. (Smith, Cowie, Blades, 2011).
Vygotksy would state learning is not part of development, but only when properly organised learning
can result in mental development that sets in motion a variety of developmental processes that would
be impossible asides from learning. Therefore learning is a vital part and universal feature for the
process of developing culturally organised, and in particular human, psychological functions. (Cole,
John Steiner, Scribner, Souberman, 1978).
Much of Piaget s early work involved the clinical method children being asked questions in a
somewhat unstructured way, the onus being to establish whether they understood different problems.
This approach was criticised for being unscientific, with Piaget and his fellow workers eventually
being more precise in their experiments. It was agreed however that Piaget posed problems in a way
that young children found difficult to comprehend. (Eysenck,

Media Content Effects on Society
Introduction Initially, media were mainly used for educational and informative purposes. However as
time went by, this boundary was getting blurred, since today media are also used as an entertainment.
One of the most influential events in history of media is probably the invention of television.
Thereafter, in less than one decade, from 1946 to 1955, TV was a part of home to 65% of Americans.
Singaporean novelist, Jess C. Scott, said People are sheep. TV is the shepherd. (Literary Heroin

television nowadays. Statistics claims that time spent in front of TV by young people, aged between 8

Traditional Management Styles And Disciplinary Techniques...
If you do that again, you will be in big trouble! This is an exclamation that is heard all around the
world, in many different languages. It is heard in houses, schools, play groups, and many other places.
It is said by parents and teachers alike. The problem with that phrase is the consequence. Alfie Kohn
and Forrest Gathercoal are two experts in classroom management. They both believe that traditional
management styles and disciplinary techniques need some adjustments. One can gather from reading
both Kohn s and Gathercoal s works that there is quite a large amount of sense behind that and schools
really should reexamine these practices. Kohn believes that many of the disciplinary methods used in
today s schools do not create an ethical child. Kohn (2006) tells us, By contrast, ethical sophistication
consists of some blend of principles and caring, of knowing how one ought to act and being concerned
about others. Punishment does absolutely nothing to promote either of these things (p. 29). When
children are disciplined, they will only remember that doing whatever the wrong thing was, has the
effect of discipline. This will impair them later because they may not know why the action was wrong.
It will not teach them right from wrong. Kohn (2006) also talks about coercion. The description used
is, The most basic way to get what you want from someone, assuming you have more power than he
does, is just to make him do it (Kohn, 2006, p. 22). It is argued

Mayan Civilization and Culture
The Ancient Mayan civilization contained nearly two thirds of Mesoamerica. The area included
mostly volcanic mountains to porous limestone, also referred to as the lowlands in the more central
regions. Mayan civilization extended from Belize and Mexico s Yucatan Peninsula in the north, to
Honduras in the south. What made the Mayans stand out to me the most, were their complex societies,
which were built and modernized far ahead of its time in a tropical rainforest climate (Aissen, 1992).
Normally, ancient populations lived in much drier climates, where irrigation practices served as the
foundation of societies. The Mayans excelled at pottery, hieroglyphic writing, making calendars,

place on steep hills, water and nutrients would not just flow to the very bottom causing erosion and
loss of nutrients for crops at the very top. With terrace farming, Mayans were able to control their
agriculture, making sure all of their crops were receiving the proper amount of water and nutrients.
Most of the crops of the Mayans consisted of mainly corn, beans and squash. Aside from their
immense belief in using what nature has given them for survival, the Mayans were also a highly
religious culture and favored many gods. This included the god of sun, moon, rain, and corn. The
people with the most power in their society were the kings. They were called Kuhul ajaw which means
many lords. They were believed to have a connection to the gods and followed a heredity succession.
Priests, warriors, and scribes followed these kings on the hierarchy scale, and at the very bottom of the
scale were subsistence farmers and servants (Coe, 1966). As the Mayan civilization began to grow,
they began trading necessary cooking items such as pottery, stone, and salt. They also began trading

on their own. Northern owners wanted them because they would have to do less work. Very few
owners treated their slaves nicely and paid them to do work around the house. They would not be
treated like family but would get treated a whole lot better than your typical slave. Those kinds of
circumstances occurred more in the Northern states than the Southern states.
Most slaves lost contact with their family members when they were captured to be sold and shipped
off to somewhere the families had no idea of. Slaves in the North would try their best to keep in
contact with their aunts, uncles, and children, but unfortunately for the most ... Show more content on

The South had ways to keep slaves under control. They would keep them in groups of three or four.
The owners woulds also not let them go anywhere after dark and if they wanted to leave during the
day they would have to have a signed paper by their owner saying they can do whatever it is that they
want to do. They would try so hard to just escape to the North and if they could to Canada. Reason is,
they were technically free, but at the same time they had no rights but they were not as mistreated in
the north as they were in the south. Also it was illegal to marry slaves in the South so that was also a
reason they would leave so they could marry.
Slaves in the North and South were terrified of the thought of being sold to some other owner. All of
the slaves, no matter the gender, had to strip down all the way in front of everyone and would have to
stand there naked to be investigated by the people that wanted to buy them. The people selling the
slaves knew buyers would examine the bodies of the slaves they wanted to buy therefore were sneaky
about covering up any scars and bruises the slaves had by puting make up on them to cover them up,
and make them appear stronger than they were. The people that went for this to buy them were
looking for men that were strong and that looked young. They wanted attractive women for
themselves or in general so they would set them up with a male to have babies. They then could keep

Motifs In William Shakespeare s Othello
On November first, 1604, The Moor of Venice was performed for the first time in the Banqueting
House at Whitehall by William Shakespeare and his group of performers, The King s Men. Centuries
later, Othello by William Shakespeare remains one of Bard s most prominent literary masterpieces.
The use of literary devices such as motifs in the play has led Othello to become one of the most
popular pieces of literature to this day. While some may think of these motifs simply as recurring ideas
Shakespeare placed throughout the plot to help develop the themes of the play, the motifs in Othello
help the reader gain a deeper understanding of the characters in the play. The first motif in the play
that helps the reader obtain a better understanding of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Othello, characters often refer to animals when describing other characters or themselves. The motif
of animals is primarily used in the play so that characters can emphasis their emotions about someone
or something. One character who exemplifies the motif of animals often is Iago. Iago frequently
describes others as Othello to make sure the reader is aware of his hatred for someone. At the
beginning of the play, Iago is talking to Brabantio, and describes Othello as an, Old black ram
(1.1.97). By deciding to refer to Othello as an animal, Iago reveals his utmost hatred for Othello early
on in the play. Iago s dialogue gives the reader a better understanding of him because it tells the reader
that Iago carefully chooses his words to achieve his desires. By doing so, Iago displays the fact that he
enjoys manipulating others through words, giving the reader some insight into what Iago s true
motives are. Another character that the reader can gain a better understanding of through the motif of
animals is Othello. Being a black, African man in a mostly white, European culture, Othello is already
an outsider, explaining why he is frequently described as an animal. Although Othello is not affected
by his differences at the beginning, they start to have more of an impact on him near the end of the
play, with him even going to the extreme by describing himself

Gregory Bateson And His Quest

Gregory Bateson and his Quest to Unify our Minds
Introduction: Thesis and introduce good old Gregory...1/2 page Gregory Bateson was an
anthropologist, psychoanalyst, and cybernetics who contributed to multiple subfields within
anthropology along with other fields in the social sciences. Bateson never completely settled into one
field, but rather, he synthesized his knowledge to incorporate it into his epistemology and
methodologies. Gregory Bateson s contributions to anthropology range from providing new methods
of ethnography, helping to establish the field of visual anthropology, influencing ecological,
psychological, and linguistics anthropology, to moving cybernetic theory from the natural sciences to
the social sciences.
Background, Education, and Influences: 1 to 2 pages Gregory Bateson was born in Grantchester,
England to an aristocratic family in 1904 (Stagoll 2006). His father, William Bateson, was a prominent
geneticist who founded the Cambridge School of Genetics and coined the term genetics (Stagoll
2006). William Bateson was a strong advocate of the work of geneticist Gregor Mendel and named
Gregory in his honor (Stagoll 2006). Following in his father s footsteps, Gregory Bateson received his
bachelor s degree in natural sciences at St. Johns at Cambridge where his grandfather, William Henry
Bateson, held the position of master (Levy and Rappaport 1982). After publishing his first paper about

How Did The Great Divergence Occur In The 19th Century
The Great Divergence signifies a period in history where Europe, particularly north western Europe,
developed economically at a much faster rate than the most prosperous parts of Asia, namely India and
China. However, the timing of this period is unclear, with dispute amongst historians as to whether it
occurred in the aftermath of the Industrial Revolution in the nineteenth century, or as being well under
way in the seventeenth century (Gupta and Ma, 2010, p. 285). Chinese failure and European success
arguably both contributed to the Great Divergence, but it is key to determine its timing in order to
understand which ultimately led to the phenomenon. This essay will outline both arguments and
attempt to show that the Great Divergence occurred by the seventeenth century.
A key feature pointed out by the believers of the earlier divergence is that the ... Show more content on

on par with southeast England (Pomeranz, 2000, p. 37). Improvements occurred slowly in
industrialising western Europe, with limited increases elsewhere until 1870 (Pamuk and van Zanden,
2010, p. 228). As well as being comparable in living standards, north west Europe and Asia both were
similar in terms of trade, literatures and centralisation (Goldstone, 2002, p. 338). In fact, India and
China can be seen as more technically advanced; India s cotton was unrivalled by England
(Chaudhuri, 1990; cited by Goldstone, 2002, p. 366), and China was productive agriculturally, had a
well developed bureaucracy, and was not bettered in terms its manufactures (Marks 1997; cited by
Goldstone, 2002, p. 366). The evidence appears to show that, in the eighteenth century, the more
advanced Asian countries were clearly still in line with north west

Prejudice In The Bluest Eye
In the novel, The Bluest Eye (1970), Toni Morrison introduces us to three young girls who have
different perspective among the 1930s child film star Shirley Temple. Although Frieda McTeer, the
older sister of Claudia McTeer admires Shirley, and the sisters friend Pecola Breedlove has an
obsession with Shirley, Claudia hates the actress with a passion. Even though Freida may like Shirley,
because society loves Shirley and she is suppose to follow what society values and admires, being the
oldest, Pecola s obsession for the actress and Claudia s hatred for Miss Temple highlights their self
worth. Pecola s excessive adoration of Shirley is what is getting in the way of her acknowledging how
much she is really worth. In Pecola s eyes, Shirley ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which is the complete opposite of Pecola. Even though Freida likes Shirley, she still loves herself, she
knows who she is. She validates herself worth and that is something that Pecola doesn t know how to
do. When the McTeer family allowed Mr. Henry to live with them, over the time, he touched Frieda.
Her father was outraged and so was everyone else, seeing that they love and care about Freida, they
chased him out. However, when Pecola was raped by her father, she told her mother and she didn t
believe her, therefore she did nothing. Even though Frieda likes Shirley, she had her sister and parents
to help her through this horrible event, although Pecola had nobody. Since Pecola isn t able to love
herself, she has to love Shirley. On the other hand, Claudia McTeer hates Shirley. She was brought in
the same family as Freida, but since nobody expects anything of Claudia, she is able to have her own
opinions and is able to despise the actress. Freida is the oldest so she must like Shirley because
everyone likes the actress, Pecola loves Shirley because she needs something to love since she doesn t

base became known as the home of the Alligator Navy . This is because of all the types of amphibious

My Life Hearing The Same Clich
My father always told me you learn more from the mistakes you make and answers you miss than
from all the studying in the world. As a life long academic, surgeon and leader of the community I had
taken those words to heart although felt they were pointless and meaningless. As an emergency
physician and master of the seas, it was my job to either know everything or handle everything
regardless of the chaos being thrown my way. I went about my life hearing the same clich? statement
from college professors, physician instructors, and throughout thousands of classes teaching young
boat captains. I even caught myself saying it on several occasions. My oldest brother is 7 years my
senior but started a family far younger than myself and earned his success through a less structured
and perhaps more stressful route. His life was not a self induced addiction to chaos, adrenaline, and
stress, but more one forced upon him in every non traditional way one could imagine. It was he who
brought to my attention that I have really never learned anything because all my challenges have been
preceded by the education and protected experiences to deal with whatever developed. I was 40 when
he first said those words to me and heard the repeated echoes during countless family visits. Also
repeated by three brothers, two sisters, and one ex wife. The words never really developed any
meaning. I continued my life, seeing patients, driving boats, raising my children and enjoying my

What Are The Major Changes Of The Sui Tang And Song Dynasty
Major changes in political structure, social and economic life define the Sui, Tang, and Song
dynasties. Each period laid the foundation for the next, with changes and improvements to create a
new order. China is one of the world s richest historical countries boasting of ancient civilization.
China has a mysterious and long history, about 5,000 years. China traces her culture to a blend of
small tribes like any other great civilizations of the world. These small original tribes expanded to
what is China today. The history of China records that Xia Dynasty is the oldest dynasty with
Yuanmou man being the oldest hominoid in China. The country also documents a number of eminent
people who contributed to the nation s enrichment and development experienced today. However, this
essay seeks to discuss the major changes in political structures, social and economic life that occurred
during the Sui dynasty, the Tang dynasty and the Song dynasty in China. The Sui dynasty reigned
from 581 618 A.D. The emperor built monasteries for both Buddhism and Daoism throughout the
land, and appointed Buddhist monks as his key advisors. The Han system of examination based on the
Confucian classics were revived. Taxation was reformed, and a census was introduced to create
equitable tax collection. Also, a land grant was given to every taxable male. Once a male turned 60
years old, part of the land was returned to the government, the rest could be passed on to his heirs.

Movie Precious Vs Precious
There are many experiences and situations one goes through throughout life that shape them and make
them who they are. There are numerous people in this world who feel as though they have it so terrible
in life, and that there is no way anyone else could have it worse than they do. After watching the film
Precious, based on the novel Push by Sapphire, any person with this mindset would completely think
otherwise. The life lived by Claireece Precious Jones was utterly cruel and unusual.
Physical abuse plays a huge role in this film. I am so thankful that sexual abuse has never played a
role in my life. The toll it took on this young girl is so heartbreaking. I could not bear having to be
afraid to come home every day wondering if my father is there waiting to hurt me. A father is someone
who every little girl and young lady should be excited to see when coming home. With everything she
has had to experience because of that disgusting man, she also learns that she has caught aids from
him. I m not sure what s worse, the fact that precious is a 16 year old young girl who is sexually
abused by her father and winds up with AIDS and pregnant, or the fact that for the rest of life, she will
have to keep such a secret from her daughter.
In the film, Precious mom has a strong hatred towards her daughter causing a life full of emotional
abuse for Precious. I myself, felt as though she was just upset with her all the time because they lived
in poverty and it was hard on her

Analyzing The Bonds Of Friendship Within Of Mice And Men
Analyzing the Bonds of Friendship Within Of Mice and Men Of mice and men by John Steinbeck
narrates a story of two friends, George and Lennie, and their lives together as farm workers in
California in the 1930s. Steinbeck chose the setting to empathize the effects a simple friendship can
have on someone living during that time period. In the 30s, in California, jobs were hard to get and
most jobs for unlettered men like George and Lennie, was farm work. Because income was scarce,
farm workers rarely had companions. When someone is both working and living with little to no
human interaction, they begin to feel lonely which grows into hatred for themselves and others.
Steinbeck uses the setting to distinctly show readers what friendships ... Show more content on

It reveals to readers one of the many ties of George and Lennie s friendship, this example being trust.
George asks for the mouse, give it here! (Steinbeck 6), and Lennie s hand slowly obeyed (6). Giving
George the mouse presents to readers the amount of faith Lennie has in George, because even after
George rudely asks for the mouse Lennie still hands George the mouse. The faith Lennie has for
George is what causes him to give up his dead mouse since he knows that George wouldn t purposely
do something to deject him but that George may be protecting him from the unknown. The trust in
their relationship allows George and Lennie to confide in each other about what no one else knows of
them and to act like their true selves around each other. In the story readers see that most farm workers
don t befriend others easily because they don t have the trust that George and Lennie have for one
another. Throughout the story, Steinbeck continues demonstrating the trust between the two friends,
showing readers how trust can strengthen an already sturdy friendship. Referencing to the same quote,
readers not only see the trust Lennie has for George, but also the care George has for Lennie. As
previously stated, George takes on the role of protecting Lennie as a parent would a child, which also
impacts the care George has for Lennie. Any other person who knew that Lennie was keeping and
constantly touching a dead

The Immediate Responsiveness Of Conditioned Pain Modulation
The purpose of the study is to assess the immediate responsiveness of conditioned pain modulation
(CPM; formerly known as diffuse noxious inhibition control or DNIC) as an outcome variable and its
association with neck pain and global rating of change (GROC) in neck function among chronic neck
pain sufferers between the 1st to 5th years from the onset of condition. Chronic neck pain is largely
non specific in nature and requires a biopsychosocial understanding of risk factors to mitigate their
poor outcome. Practice guidelines highlight the importance of classifying these patients, which
includes a biopsychosocial perspective for effective intervention (Cote et al 2016). Recent evidence
also points to the success of personalized pain management that is anchored on specific
neurophysiologic mechanism underpinning the pain experience of each individual (Nir and Yartniksy
2015). There is emerging evidence that simultaneously evaluating this neurophysiologic mechanism,
along with biopsychosocial variables identified risk factors related to the development of chronic neck
pain at one year (Shahidi et al 2015). There is extensive literature on pain and function outcome
variables relating to biopsychosocial factors. In the past few years, there is growing evidence in the
neurophysiologic mechanisms literature that includes CPM/DNIC s validity and reliability in various
chronic pain states. There is a call for CPM/DNIC to be used as outcome variable because it signifies
the status

Macroeconomics Essay on Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply
A. Fracking technology matures and significantly reduces the costs of producing oil and natural gas.
First of all, the fact that the overall costs of producing oil and natural gas will be reduced, then
companies will be able to produce more for the same costs or increase their profit margins. At higher
aggregate supply, the price is likely to decrease, compensating the fact that the companies have
reduced their costs and allowing them to produce at the same level for similar prices. Aggregate
demand will also increase, mainly because the products and services that are associated with oil and
natural gas will become more affordable. As aggregate demand increases, the price will also likely
increase in the short term, at least until aggregate supply and demand regulate themselves at a new
level. Ideally, however, new technologies will make oil and natural gas more affordable, which would
lower the overall price of products and services, since costs, including transportation costs, are lower.
B. The European Union disbands and individual European countries enact large tariffs on the
importation of American goods. There are several elements to be discussed about this event. First, the
European Union is a customs union, in the sense that all the member countries enact the same tariff on
a particular import of goods from the United States. This means that imports from the US of a
particular good has a tariff that ranges from 0 % to higher levels. Disbanding means mainly

Essay on Death of a Salesman and Street Car Named Desire
Biff: will you take that phony dream and burn it before something happens
Compare how the authors of Death of a salesman and street car named desire explore the conflict

Truth and illusion are utilized in Tennessee Williams Streetcar Named Desire and Arthur Miller s
Death of a salesman through the use of the character; to lead the reader to a possible conclusion on the

This Contrasts Millers use of this dramatic technique as The Harmonious Flute is used to obscure
Willys sense reality, in contrast to Williams use of it to identify Blanches reality. Unlike Blanche,
Willy is compltetly oblivious to the truth and resides to his memories to conceal himself away from
the reality that the American dream has failed him. The flute is reminiscent of Willys past and often
symblozies when Willy is reminscing becasue he is unable to bare the truth that his American dream is
failing. This shows that Willy is unable to deal with the truth due to the false reality that the maerican
dream has presented him with and made him beliveing into. The best example of this is the tape
recorder which Willy accodentally sets in motion. In its shrieking , unpleasent tones of a child
recounting phrases, we see how awful it is for Willy to have to live an accurate account of the past
such as this. This is a vivid expression of his unconscious desire to repress the truth. This is proven
even before the start of the play where the first stage directions should indicate a dream rising out of

Marijuana Should Be Banned Marijuana
Cannabis, otherwise known as marijuana, is a way of preparing the marijuana plant so that it can be
used as medicine or a psychoactive drug. It is the most extensively banned drug in Britain. However,
many local societies and organizations advocate a reform of its validity. These include NORML UK,
UKCSC Drug Equality Alliance, as well as Cannabis Law Reform. Other societies such as the Centre
for Social Justice and Skunk Sense argue in favour of cannabis remaining illegal (UK Government,
2014).
There is a widespread belief that Queen Victoria used cannabis to help relieve menstrual pain. It was
also used for other purposes: for instance, as food additives, or as clothing material. Cannabis and its
products have historically been so popular in Britain that its use remains a problem among the country
s citizens.
Nevertheless, the United Kingdom shows that a liberal approach to policy helps to reduce cannabis
use in the country. In mid 2003, Britain efficiently changed its rules about cannabis, giving police
officers the opportunity, do not use police alarms for criminals who have been caught for the first time
of possession of cannabis (for personal use). Earlier, the accused judged in court. But now, police have
warned the culprits directly on the street. All the warnings are recorded in the private affair, but it is
not for the trial in court (Turnbull, 2009; Warburton, May and Hough, 2005).

What We Can Learn about Stars Using Spectra
What we can Learn about Stars using Spectra The stars have always been a source of wonder because
they are so distant. We have been unable to know much about these celestial bodies for so long;
however, with the use of spectra scientists are able to learn more than you would think. Emission and
absorption spectra have been hiding a vast amount of knowledge, astronomers and physicists are just
now learning how to sift through all of the information that the spectra hold. We have been able to
learn about what kinds of elements specific stars are composed of, how distant the stars are, and the
temperature of the stars. The spectra of stars have revolutionized our knowledge but there were issues
in getting the information that we needed. The earths atmosphere was the biggest issue that was
encountered. As light comes through our atmosphere the wavelengths at the shorter end of the
spectrum like blue and violet are more easily scattered than longer wavelengths like red, orange, and
yellow that are more difficult to scatter. This means that we detect more light that is toward the yellow
end of the spectrum rather than the true colors that were actually emitted. To fix the problem we
would have to remove the atmosphere. That was not an actual option for scientists, so they had to send
telescopes up into space. Once scientists were able to launch the equipment they needed into space
they were able to receive the actual spectral patterns for stars. They gathered data in the form

Test Crt Should Be Used Rather Than Norm Referenced Tests Criterion Referenced Tests CRT Should Be Used Rather Than Norm Referenced Tests NRT The assessment looks at the wide variety of methods that educators use to evaluate and determined the achievement of the student s educational need. The focus of this essay is to look at the Criterion Referenced Tests (CRT) and the Norm Referenced Tests (NRT) usage to see why the Criterion Referenced Tests should be used rather than the Norm Referenced Tests. The learning standards and the curriculum will be discussed to help determine why the CRT should be used rather than the NRT. Also, we will take a look at the principal use of how the two methods differ by one using survey testing and the other mastery testing. I will give my informed opinion throughout the essay. The Criterion Referenced Tests measure the performance against a fix set of predetermined learning standards. This means that there will be written descriptions of what students are expected to know and are able to do in each learning outcome unit stage in the course. This method of assessment is done to evaluate what skills the student has learned. The learning standards will measure how well a student has mastered the specific skill described in the national learning standards (Waugh Gronlund, 2013). Since the teachers and the schools can develop their own learning standards, this will help the students to be able to accomplish the learning objective performance outcome expected in my opinion. Schoffstall Introduction In a normal human being the heart correctly functions by the blood first entering through the right atrium from the superior and inferior vena cava. This blood flow continues through the right atrioventricular valve into the right ventricle. The right ventricle contracts forcing the pulmonary valve to open leading blood flow through the pulmonary valve and into the pulmonary trunk. Blood is then distributed from the right and left pulmonary arteries to the lungs, where carbon dioxide is unloaded and oxygen is loaded into the blood. When I did my own EKG lab testing I used the following materials: BIOPAC electrode lead set (SS2L), BIOPAC disposable vinyl electrodes (EL503), Cot, BIOPAC electrodes, Computer Sytem, BIOPAC Student Lab software v3.0 or greater, and BIOPAC acquisition unit (MP30). When all these materials are available the computer was turned on and three of the electrodes were placed on the body of my teammate. Two electrodes were positioned on the medial surface of each leg just above the ankle, and the last electrode was on the right anterior forearm at her wrist. When these were attached the subject was asked to lie down on the cot and relax. We then attached her to the EKG machine with three colored cables. The white cable was placed on the electrode on the right forearm, the black cable was placed on right leg and the red cable was attached to the electrode on the left leg. Once the patient was correctly hooked up to the EKG the BIOPAC Student Lab Program was started. Lesson five is the one we used for this experiment and once it had been chosen we label it and started the experiment. There were four conditions we needed to measure; the first being lying down. • 12. Civil War Dbq Research Paper The Civil War arose through the desire of southern states that wanted to secede from the Union when Abraham Lincoln became the sixteenth president of the United States. These states believed that Lincoln s point of abolition of slavery would harm them. Therefore, they declared for the secession. However, the Federal Government never wanted the separation in the country, so they rejected this declaration and tried to preserve the Union. This led to the Civil War in which the Federal Government got the final winning. Through signing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, the Federal Government could achieve abolition of slavery in the whole country. However, the issue of slavery still existed vaguely. There were few issues relating to citizenship of African descents born in America and rights for voting. It involved one participant, two stools, a round table, a tablecloth, one tall tubular glass and two beaker glasses (both filled with juice). The aim of this experiment was to test whether the participant could distinguish which out of the two beakers (one tall and thin, the other short and rotund) contained the most juice. In response to the question posed, the participant responded that the tall tubular glass contained the most juice, even though both contained the same amount of juice. This approach was criticised for being unscientific, with Piaget and his fellow workers eventually being more precise in their experiments. • 18. Traditional Management Styles And Disciplinary Techniques... If you do that again, you will be in big trouble! This is an exclamation that is heard all around the world, in many different languages. It is heard in houses, schools, play groups, and many other places. It is said by parents and teachers alike. The problem with that phrase is the consequence. Alfie Kohn and Forrest Gathercoal are two experts in classroom management. They both believe that traditional management styles and disciplinary techniques need some adjustments. One can gather from reading both Kohn s and Gathercoal s works that there is quite a large amount of sense behind that and schools really should reexamine these practices. Kohn believes that many of the disciplinary methods used in today s schools do not create an ethical child. Kohn (2006) tells us, By contrast, ethical sophistication consists of some blend of principles and caring, of knowing how one ought to act and being concerned about others. Punishment does absolutely nothing to promote either of these things (p. 29). When children are disciplined, they will only remember that doing whatever the wrong thing was, has the effect of discipline. This will impair them later because they may not know why the action was wrong. It will not teach them right from wrong. Kohn (2006) also talks about coercion. The description used is, The most basic way to get what you want from someone, assuming you have more power than he does, is just to make him do it (Kohn, 2006, p. 22). It is argued ... I was 40 when he first said those words to me and heard the repeated echoes during countless family visits. Also repeated by three brothers, two sisters, and one ex wife. The words never really developed any meaning. I continued my life, seeing patients, driving boats, raising my children and enjoying my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

China has a mysterious and long history, about 5,000 years. China traces her culture to a blend of small tribes like any other great civilizations of the world. These small original tribes expanded to what is China today. The history of China records that Xia Dynasty is the oldest dynasty with Yuanmou man being the oldest hominoid in China. The country also documents a number of eminent people who contributed to the nation s enrichment and development experienced today. However, this essay seeks to discuss the major changes in political structures, social and economic life that occurred during the Sui dynasty, the Tang dynasty and the Song dynasty in China. The Han system of examination based on the Confucian classics were revived. Taxation was reformed, and a census was introduced to create equitable tax collection. • 31. Movie Precious Vs Precious There are many experiences and situations one goes through throughout life that shape them and make them who they are. There are numerous people in this world who feel as though they have it so terrible in life, and that there is no way anyone else could have it worse than they do. After watching the film Precious, based on the novel Push by Sapphire, any person with this mindset would completely think otherwise. The life lived by Claireece Precious Jones was utterly cruel and unusual. Physical abuse plays a huge role in this film. I am so thankful that sexual abuse has never played a role in my life. The toll it took on this young girl is so heartbreaking. I could not bear having to be afraid to come home every day wondering if my father is there waiting to hurt me. A father is someone who every little girl and young lady should be excited to see when coming home. With everything she has had to experience because of that disgusting man, she also learns that she has caught aids from him. I m not sure what s worse, the fact that precious is a 16 year old young girl who is sexually abused by her father and winds up with AIDS and pregnant, or the fact that for the rest of life, she will have to keep such a secret from her daughter. In the film, Precious mom has a strong hatred towards her daughter causing a life full of emotional abuse for Precious. I myself, felt as though she was just upset with her all the time because they lived in poverty and it was hard on her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Analyzing The Bonds Of Friendship Within Of Mice And Men Analyzing the Bonds of Friendship Within Of Mice and Men Of mice and men by John Steinbeck narrates a story of two friends, George and Lennie, and their lives together as farm workers in California in the 1930s. Steinbeck chose the setting to empathize the effects a simple friendship can have on someone living during that time period. In the 30s, in California, jobs were hard to get and most jobs for unlettered men like George and Lennie, was farm work. Because income was scarce, farm workers rarely had companions. When someone is both working and living with little to no human interaction, they begin to feel lonely which grows into hatred for themselves and others. Steinbeck uses the setting to distinctly show readers what friendships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It reveals to readers one of the many ties of George and Lennie s friendship, this example being trust. George asks for the mouse, give it here! (Steinbeck 6), and Lennie s hand slowly obeyed (6). Giving George the mouse presents to readers the amount of faith Lennie has in George, because even after George rudely asks for the mouse Lennie still hands George the mouse. The faith Lennie has for George is what causes him to give up his dead mouse since he knows that George wouldn t purposely do something to deject him but that George may be protecting him from the unknown. The trust in their relationship allows George and Lennie to confide in each other about what no one else knows of them and to act like their true selves around each other. In the story readers see that most farm workers don t befriend others easily because they don t have the trust that George and Lennie have for one another. Throughout the story, Steinbeck continues demonstrating the trust between the two friends, showing readers how trust can strengthen an already sturdy friendship. Referencing to the same quote, readers not only see the trust Lennie has for George, but also the care George has for Lennie. As previously stated, George takes on the role of protecting Lennie as a parent would a child, which also impacts the care George has for Lennie. Any other person who knew that Lennie was keeping and constantly touching a dead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Immediate Responsiveness Of Conditioned Pain Modulation The purpose of the study is to assess the immediate responsiveness of conditioned pain modulation (CPM; formerly known as diffuse noxious inhibition control or DNIC) as an outcome variable and its association with neck pain and global rating of change (GROC) in neck function among chronic neck pain sufferers between the 1st to 5th years from the onset of condition. Chronic neck pain is largely non specific in nature and requires a biopsychosocial understanding of risk factors to mitigate their poor outcome. Practice guidelines highlight the importance of classifying these patients, which includes a biopsychosocial perspective for effective intervention (Cote et al 2016). Recent evidence also points to the success of personalized pain management that is anchored on specific neurophysiologic mechanism underpinning the pain experience of each individual (Nir and Yartniksy 2015). There is emerging evidence that simultaneously evaluating this neurophysiologic mechanism, along with biopsychosocial variables identified risk factors related to the development of chronic neck pain at one year (Shahidi et al 2015). There is extensive literature on pain and function outcome variables relating to biopsychosocial factors. In the past few years, there is growing evidence in the neurophysiologic mechanisms literature that includes CPM/DNIC s validity and reliability in various chronic pain states. There is a call for CPM/DNIC to be used as outcome variable because it signifies the status ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Macroeconomics Essay on Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply A. Fracking technology matures and significantly reduces the costs of producing oil and natural gas. First of all, the fact that the overall costs of producing oil and natural gas will be reduced, then companies will be able to produce more for the same costs or increase their profit margins. At higher aggregate supply, the price is likely to decrease, compensating the fact that the companies have reduced their costs and allowing them to produce at the same level for similar prices. Aggregate demand will also increase, mainly because the products and services that are associated with oil and natural gas will become more affordable. As aggregate demand increases, the price will also likely increase in the short term, at least until aggregate supply and demand regulate themselves at a new level. Ideally, however, new technologies will make oil and natural gas more affordable, which would lower the overall price of products and services, since costs, including transportation costs, are lower. B. The European Union disbands and individual European countries enact large tariffs on the importation of American goods. There are several elements to be discussed about this event. First, the European Union is a customs union, in the sense that all the member countries enact the same tariff on a particular import of goods from the United States. This means that imports from the US of a particular good has a tariff that ranges from 0 % to higher levels. Disbanding means mainly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Death of a Salesman and Street Car Named Desire Biff: will you take that phony dream and burn it before something happens Compare how the authors of Death of a salesman and street car named desire explore the conflict between truth and illusion Truth and illusion are utilized in Tennessee Williams Streetcar Named Desire and Arthur Miller s Death of a salesman through the use of the character; to lead the reader to a possible conclusion on the beliefs that went into the American dream that prompted people to work hard was that america was the land of opportunity while in fact that opportunity is used to manipulate those who follow this dream something that is most evidently shown in Millers main character Willy and to put forward a essential criticism of the materialistic ... This Contrasts Millers use of this dramatic technique as The Harmonious Flute is used to obscure Willys sense reality, in contrast to Williams use of it to identify Blanches reality. Unlike Blanche, Willy is compltetly oblivious to the truth and resides to his memories to conceal himself away from the reality that the American dream has failed him. The flute is reminiscent of Willys past and often symblozies when Willy is reminscing becasue he is unable to bare the truth that his American dream is failing. This shows that Willy is unable to deal with the truth due to the false reality that the maerican dream has presented him with and made him beliveing into. The best example of this is the tape recorder which Willy accodentally sets in motion. In its shrieking , unpleasent tones of a child recounting phrases, we see how awful it is for Willy to have to live an accurate account of the past such as this. This is a vivid expression of his unconscious desire to repress the truth. This is proven even before the start of the play where the first stage directions should indicate a dream rising out of reality Thurther emphiseing Milliers critic throughtout the entire play. • 36. Marijuana Should Be Banned Marijuana Cannabis, otherwise known as marijuana, is a way of preparing the marijuana plant so that it can be used as medicine or a psychoactive drug. It is the most extensively banned drug in Britain. However, many local societies and organizations advocate a reform of its validity. These include NORML UK, UKCSC Drug Equality Alliance, as well as Cannabis Law Reform. Other societies such as the Centre for Social Justice and Skunk Sense argue in favour of cannabis remaining illegal (UK Government, 2014). There is a widespread belief that Queen Victoria used cannabis to help relieve menstrual pain. It was also used for other purposes: for instance, as food additives, or as clothing material. Cannabis and its products have historically been so popular in Britain that its use remains a problem among the country s citizens. Nevertheless, the United Kingdom shows that a liberal approach to policy helps to reduce cannabis use in the country. In mid 2003, Britain efficiently changed its rules about cannabis, giving police officers the opportunity, do not use police alarms for criminals who have been caught for the first time of possession of cannabis (for personal use). Earlier, the accused judged in court. But now, police have warned the culprits directly on the street. All the warnings are recorded in the private affair, but it is not for the trial in court (Turnbull, 2009; Warburton, May and Hough, 2005). Through her corny jokes and odd faces she would make across the room, she never failed to put a smile on everyone s face. She never forgot birthdays, anniversaries or any special events, but I think it was because she was always on Facebook, I think that helped her out a little. Stephanie absolutely loved the idea of having all the family together. There were moments were she would step back, smile and look at the kids making s mores in the backyard, or watch her aunts argue in Tagalog about something, she never knew what they were saying because she never picked up on the language or they re just crazy, yes you Aunt Nicole! • 38. What We Can Learn about Stars Using Spectra What we can Learn about Stars using Spectra The stars have always been a source of wonder because they are so distant. We have been unable to know much about these celestial bodies for so long; however, with the use of spectra scientists are able to learn more than you would think. Emission and absorption spectra have been hiding a vast amount of knowledge, astronomers and physicists are just now learning how to sift through all of the information that the spectra hold. We have been able to learn about what kinds of elements specific stars are composed of, how distant the stars are, and the temperature of the stars. The spectra of stars have revolutionized our knowledge but there were issues in getting the information that we needed. The earths atmosphere was the biggest issue that was encountered. As light comes through our atmosphere the wavelengths at the shorter end of the spectrum like blue and violet are more easily scattered than longer wavelengths like red, orange, and yellow that are more difficult to scatter. This means that we detect more light that is toward the yellow end of the spectrum rather than the true colors that were actually emitted. To fix the problem we would have to remove the atmosphere. That was not an actual option for scientists, so they had to send telescopes up into space. Once scientists were able to launch the equipment they needed into space they were able to receive the actual spectral patterns for stars. They gathered data in the form ...
