Remembering September 11, 2001
September 11, 2001 is a date in history that changed the lives of people from all over the world
and especially the lives of Americans. On this day nineteen militant men associated with al
Qaeda, an Islamic extremist group, hijacked four airplanes and carried out multiple suicide
attacks on different locations in the United States. Two of the planes directly struck the World
Trade Center located in New York City, one of the other two planes hit the Pentagon in
Washington D.C., and the final plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania before it could reach its
final destination. On this day, more than 3,000 people were killed including over 400 first
responding police officers and firefighters. In recent years as people look back on that day it is
remembered as a time when the country was joined together by grief and showed an
overwhelming amount of comfort and support to the victims and their families; it was also a time
of extreme national pride. People also remember that following the attacks the economy suffered
tremendously, in addition, air traffic which makes up a portion of the economy was greatly
disrupted, both of which created uncertainty about the security of the financial markets critical to
the success of the United States. What most people do not remember is the immediate backlash
and hostility the Muslim and Arab communities received following the attacks by both civilians
and the media. This is a topic that has been largely ignored by the public and media s

Cause And Effect Of Tornados
To form a tornado the atmosphere needs to create an instability. The air closest to the ground will
be warm, humid, and have south facing winds. In the upper atmosphere, the air will be cold with
west or southwest facing winds. These two components in the upper and lower atmosphere together
create the atmospheric instability. Another key component to form a tornadois wind shear. Wind
shear is the change in wind speed and direction of wind while the warmer and cooler air are
chasing each other around in the circle, creating the height of the tornado. ( Prepare for a Tornado,
2017) Although tornados have been recorded in every continent except for Antarctica most are
found in central United States better known as tornado alley a stretch of land from the western
part of Texas to North Dakota. On average, there are two thousand tornadoes annually, but two out
of three of those tornadoes happen in the United States. The states with the most tornados on
average are Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Florida. Tornadoes form in the central part of the
United States most commonly because of the reoccurring atmospheric instability from the dry
polar air that meets the warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico. (Prepare for a Tornado, 2017) A
storm capable of producing a tornado can occur at any time but most often they occur in the spring
and summer, June and May have the highest number of tornados recorded. Tornadoes can happen at
any time of the day but most often occur between the

The Impact Of Chidambaram s Impact On Physical Environment...
Chennai is the biggest industrial and commercial centre in South India. Also, it is known for
being a major cultural, economic and educational centre. Since Chennai is located on the
Coromandel Coast off the Bay of Bengal, a rise in sea level poses a threat to coastal areas and
becomes a risk to people s lives, food, security as well as infrastructure and biodiversity. Because of
this, there will be many impacts on the human environment, such as affecting tourism.
Chidambaram and how flooding will impact on physical environment: An example of an impacted

But because of the flooding, these famous areas will be submerged, causing its important unique
characteristics to be gone forever. Soon, tourists will not come to Chennai at all, increasing the
chances of Chennai becoming a very poor city. Also, many varieties of food and attractive items are
being sold in Marina Beach. Therefore, if the Marina Beach is destroyed, a lot of people will lose
their jobs. Thus, many people will not be able to pay taxes and eventually the city s economy
will decrease. This will be a reason for tourism to stop as tourists will not go to a country with no
facilities. The Social Impacts will be as follows:
Since there will be no tourists coming to Chennai, lesser communication between people from
different backgrounds will take place. This will cause the people to know very less about other
people with different cultures, decreasing the number of cultures being practiced. Also, since the
Marina Beach is submerged, people who earn a living selling products there will lose their jobs and
will have to move inland. Thus they will have to live a lower standard of

Political Socialization Research Paper
People are not born with political ideas, nor do we build them. We learn them through an
undertaking called Political Socialization. From the beginning of our early childhood and
throughout our lives we are exposed to Political ideas through many different ways. It is how
people identify personal beliefs and expectations in American politics. The most easiest way to be
exposed to politics is family, peers, schooling, church, mass media and political parties. The way
a person is impacted into political socialization is mainly through family, when we are younger

Tomb Of Romeo And Juliet
I think Romeo and Juliet and the tomb are based on truth. The story of Romeo and Juliet is
much older than when Shakespeare wrote the story we know today as Romeo and Juliet, it was
not a coincidence that Romeo and Juliet and the tomb go together, and the tomb was made for
the Capulets. Since Shakespeare did not write the story of Romeo and Juliet, the story could be
much older. Since the story could be much older the tomb could be much older. No one knows
the date of the tomb that was made previously because the tomb was recreated into the form we
know today. It is not a coincidence the play and the tomb are together. People always like to see
historic places or figures of something they find interesting, in this case it would be the Tomb

Sickle Cell Essay
What is Sickle Cell Anemia? Sickle Cell disease is a blood disorder that is inherited. By
inherited I mean passed down from parents to their children. Babies are usually born with sickle
cell disease. When they inherit two abnormal genes, one from each parent. Abnormal genes cause
the body s red blood cells to change shape. This being the effect of having sickle cell disease.
Normal red blood cells are shaped likes discs or donuts. Normal red blood cells are soft and flexible
so they can move easily through very small blood vessels throughout the body and deliver
oxygen to the body. Sickle cells are much different than normal red blood cells. Sickle cells are
stiffer, also instead of disc shapes they re curved like crescent moons, or an old ... Show more

Jaundice can cause a person s skin and whites of the eyes to develop a yellowish tint. It is also
common for people with sickle cell anemia to have a hard time fighting infections. Teens with
sickle cell anemia grow more slowly and reach puberty later then other normal teens and people.
Having sickle cell anemia can cause people to feel severe pain at times in their stomach, arms,
legs, or other parts of their body. Periods of pain are referred to as pain crises. Depending on the
person you never will know how severe the pains are, how long they last, or even how often they
happen. Some people can have the crises happen more often than others. The crises can either be
brief or last for hours, days, or even weeks. Sometimes the pain can be so intense to require
hospital treatment. Sickle cell shaped blood cells block blood vessel. Blocking blood vessels
can include the cause of leg ulcers, bone or joint damage, gallstones, kidney damage, painful
long lasting erections in males that is known as priapism, eye damage, and delayed growth. Also if
they block blood vessels in the brain it puts people at risk of having a stroke. Signs of stroke
include headache, seizures, weakness of the arms and legs, speech problems, a droop on one side
of the face or body, and loss of consciousness. It is possible for some people to be ill enough to die

Sally Asimov
Sally is a fictional story written in 1953 by Isaac Asimov about driverless cars that are capable of
communicating. The story relates to the vehicles of today and the news articles of today. Both
stories, Sally and the Newsela article, talk about driverless and cars that communicate with other
cars, but only the Newsela article is based off of real life. The Newsela article talks about how
new cars are able to communicate with each other, and how they tell each other about obstacles
and other things on the road. Sally talks about cars that drive by themselves and how the cars
communicate with each other. V2V will provide 360 degree situational awareness on the road,

Discrimination of Irish Catholic Immigrants During the 1920 s
During the 1920 s there were many controversial issues. There was a concern about declining moral
and ethical values, which led to restrictions such as prohibition for example. The concern about
these issues seemed most intense when they pertained to religion. In situations like these it always
seems necessary to place the blame somewhere. One particular group on which this blame was
emphasized happened to be the immigrants. Irish Catholic immigrants were a main focus of
discrimination in many ways.
The fight for immigration restriction was fueled by America s negative view of foreigners.
Protestants especially made it a point to link alcohol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fear that surrounded this time period was a perfect way to spread the propaganda of the
Klan. It was believed that this group of immigrants held their primary allegiance to a foreign
sovereign over loyalty to the United States. This anti Catholicism was a driving force behind the
popularity of the KKK. To show the mentality of the time, there was no tax on Klan fees because
they were considered to be a benevolent society by the government. The fact that the KKK
adamantly discriminated against the Irish Catholics may seem surprising because the majority of
today s population would assume that the Klan s members encompassed any person who appeared
to be Caucasian.
This group of immigrants was also discriminated in the workplace. Employers made the wages for
this group lower than wages of other employees. The intention for this ill treatment was that the
immigrants would warn their Irish relatives of the bad conditions here in the U.S. discouraging
them from immigrating as well as to encourage the Irish Catholic immigrant employees who resided
in the U.S. to leave.
This direct discrimination against the Irish Catholic immigrants was hypocritical in the democratic
and liberal society of America. It is wrong to allow one group to infringe upon another one s rights
just because of religious

What are your future plans and how do you propose to achieve them?
Ever since I was a younger girl, I have always dreamed of becoming successful and
accomplishing my goals. All the way back in Elementary school, I would feel ecstatic for those
days when my teacher would bring out all the science laboratory materials. Hearing my teacher
exclaim to all the curious minded students, today we are conducted a science experiment would
make me feel extremely content. I ve always had a passion for science, I have big goals and
aspirations towards becoming successful in that field. After what seemed to be an incredibly long

financial aid will save me by a landslide. For my senior year, I decided to attend Valencia College

free courses and receiving free book access. Dual Enrollment will ultimately be one of the best
decisions I have made as I am getting ahead and am getting closer to finishing my Associate s

utilizing excellent Valencia resources that will push me through my rigorous mathematical and
science classes while still being close to home and having my family s support. After Valencia, my

Science Fiction Becomes Science Fact
Science fiction is a genre that empowers our imagination. It acts like a thinking cap, allowing us to
think of new ideas to invest in and invent. This genre has resulted in many innovations that are
beneficial to mankind, such as credit cards, which enabled faster transactions in money. Another
example is the internet, which enabled us to share ideas quickly. However, this time, we will be
talking about a piece in science fiction that has not been made in real life yet, but is close to it.

The scene in the story showed one of the main characters moving towards a ship that was
covered with it. The character claimed that he couldn t even tell how far away he was from it,
and it was to be used to create spectacular effects for a rock concert(Adams 1). Before Douglas
Adams wrote that book, though, he first left school in 1970 in order to pursue his career in
writing. However, the effects were disastrous, so he had to take a few low paying jobs in order
to continue. In 1976, Adams wrote a play which allowed him to earn some cash to last him all
the way until 1977. Adams didn t give up, though, and in 1978, he wrote his first successful book,
The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy. It was a best selling story, becoming the most popular book
in the UK. It is what inspired Adams to write the second book in the series, The Restaurant at the
End of the Universe, in 1980(2). It is perseverance that allowed Adams to think of inventions that

To what extent has the conservative’s party changed since...
The conservative party has been in existence since the 1670s and was first called the Tories , a
term used by the Scottish and Irish to describe a robber. This party is a right wing party which
believed in conserving the tradition and the king, as the name entails. David Cameron, the
current party leader became the leader in 2005. He is also the present prime minister of Great
Britain and he has made a lot of changes since he became the leader of the party. In this essay, I

ideology and the various changes that David Cameron has made to the party s image and beliefs.

As stated by Holmes, in the 1980s, there was a lot of chaos in the party as Margaret Thatcher had
moved the party to the extreme right amongst other things, making her members of parliament keen
to replace her. She was replaced by John Major in 1990 who won four successive elections.
Between 1900 and 2000, the conservatives were in power two third of the time. The period in
time when they were not in power, was in 1997 were they lost the election and also in 2001.At
that point time, the conservative leaders were (William Hague and Iain Duncan smith) who
struggled to win back votes of the people. The policies that were left by Margret Thatcher were
not favoured by the people. In 2003, Michael Howard (right winger) revived the conservatives but
the conservatives were defeated by the liberal democrat party in the 2005 general election. (Holmes

The Conservatives had four main ideologies. The first ideology was brought about by Edmund

Introduction
Programming is a skill that is widely specialised in the growing technological environment/market.
There are many programming languages available to the programmer to use. Some of these are
event driven programming and oriented programming language. Within the programming there are
also data types available to the developer which benefits them and the end user.
This report will embrace why different programming languages have been developed. It will also
compare and contrast event driven programming and object oriented programming languages.
Furthermore it will explain the benefit of having data type s available to the programmer.
Why different types of programming languages have been developed
Different programming languages have been developed for many different reasons. A
programming language is a language designed to designate a set of actions to be executed by a
computer. A programming language is therefore a practical way of giving instructions to a
computer to operate. Programs are created to control the behavior of a machine.

Essay on Elephants Should be Protected
The official title of the world s largest land dwelling animal belongs to the elephant, more
specifically, the African elephant. Elephants are some of the most deadly animals, which increases
the danger of human and elephant interactions. Increased human and elephant interactions lead to
increased deaths of both humans and elephants. Surprisingly, these animals are socially apt. The
trunk is used for more than just eating and drinking; it is used for socializing. They are complex
animals who live in large familial herds. Females stay with their family throughout their entire lives
while males only stay for approximately fifteen years (ElephantProtection 1). Elephants possess a

Elephant populations suffered a drop in numbers that carried the species into the endangered
animals list. At the beginning of the twentieth century, about ten million elephants lived in Africa.
Presently, the ten million is reduced to half a million because of illegal hunting and habitat loss.
Studies of the population show twenty two thousand were killed in 2012 and twenty five thousand
in 2011. When comparing the death rate to the natural population growth, there is a possibility the
largest mammal on Earth could be extinct soon (Vaughan 1). Because the elephant is the largest
animal to walk on land, the greatly increasing human population affects the elephant population
first. They live in some regions of the world that have the densest human population which
continues to grow, which therefore continuously decreases their own population (Bryner 1). As the
human population swiftly increases, the elephant population in turn, decreases. This is so because
they cannot cohabitate the same living space. Elephants and humans cannot cohabitate because
they would kill each other due to the inability to communicate. About population recovery, the
Animal wildlife foundation states, Populations of elephants especially in Southern and Eastern
Africa that once showed promising signs of recovery could be at risk due to the recent surge in
poaching for the illegal ivory trade (1). Poaching presents one of the main issues that make
recovery so difficult for these animals.

Essay About My Best Friends
Best friends forever we said. We pinky promised it would be for a lifetime, but I learned that
some things change. Faith and I had the average friend relationship when we were younger. We
would tell each other secrets, help each other with homework, have slumber parties and play
dates, and just be fun kids together. Since we were in preschool, we were always there for each
other through the ups and downs of childhood. We loved each other like no other, or so I
thought. It started off as one of my favorite days in the world. It was mid December, the snow
fell for what seemed like hours on end. I always have loved these days. The ones where you sit
at home with your family at night and drink hot chocolate while the snow is falling outside. My
birthday was a couple days before, while Christmas would soon come after. Christmas songs
heard all over; on the radio, at home, in school, it was such a joyous time of year. I couldn t be
more happier. Laying in bed late at night, I received a text message from faith. This wasn t an
unusual occurrence as faith and I talked quite often. Half asleep I started reading the message.
Assuming it was some secret that she just found out about our classmates, or a funny meme, I
didn t think I had anything to worry about. That was until I saw the words terrible friend . She
wrote that we shouldn t be friends anymore and how she hasn t liked me for a while, that I was a

Snow Mobile Essay
Snowmobiling is a recreational sport loved by people all over the world, both young and old.
Originally used to help survive the harshest of winters, snow mobiles have adapted to become an
extremely popular winter activity. They can be found in many countries, and have many different
uses including, but not limited to, outdoor work, tourism, hunting, and travel. Snowmobiles have a
short history, are very popular today, and have very few effects on the environment. The original
snow mobile was created in 1908 in the town of Waterville, Maine. It looked like a tiny
locomotive and was called the Lombard Log Hauler. A year later O. C. Johnson created the first
machine that actually drove on top of the snow. In 1913 the owner of New Hampshire Ford... Show

carry people to safety. They are often used by forest rangers to help with the patrol of
mountainous areas during winter. They can help rangers to detect poaching and hurt animals in
areas. They are also commonly used on the Alaskan frontier. Many people in Alaska use snow
mobiles to help with hunting. They often are not close to a grocery store and cannot just run out
to grab food, they have to hunt it. In below zero temperatures and high snow, hunting can be
difficult. To move quickly and be able to bring home an animal, many people rely on snow
mobiles. They are also used to help raise farm animals in that area and move different heavy
equipment. Some roads become impassable by a normal vehicle, which makes snow machines a
great tool to have.
Snow mobiles are often used to help in other recreational winter sports as well. They are sometimes
used to groom ski and snowboard trails and also do ski patrols. They can move downed logs from
areas and keep them safe for skiers and snowboarders. Many people use snow machines to access
winter cabins and ice fishing

Jean Piaget was a major contributor to the world of psychology and sociology that we know

What Is Donald Trump s Impact On Canadian Society
In 2017 I deem the person with the biggest effect on Canadian society isn t even Canadian.I believe
Donald Trump the current President of the United States Of America has made the most influential
effect in Canada. The three main reasons he has made such a massive impact is him wanting to stop
NAFTA, his impending tariff on soft lumber and his amendments to the immigrationlaws. To begin
I will be discussing Trump s plan to stop NAFTA. Stopping NAFTA would be horrific for
Canadian society. Canadian society acquires thousands of items from the U.S that can t be
produced in Canadafor instance products like oranges, lemons, limes and mangos. During 2015 the
United Statesimported $295.2 billion from Canada and exported $280.3 Billion to Canada. Without
NAFTA all goods would have a tax costing Canada Millions of Dollars.... Show more content on

Of course Trump is striving to put a 20% tariff on Canadian soft lumber. Historically Canadians
have always sold a huge amount of their soft lumber to the United States up to 65%. Moreover
on why Trump has had a major impact on Canadian society this year is his immigration laws.
Donald is making all these immigration laws to keep people out like refugees. All the refugees
that are looking to leave their country and find a place to live they can t go the U.S.A so they will
most likely come to Canada. When Trump first became elected Canada had no those choices, then
to close down its immigration website because too many people were trying to move in.
Consequently, these are the three reasons I think that Donald Trump had the biggest impact on
Canadian society in

Moreover, the company discontinued its noncore retailing operations for the year in an attempt to

Plant Species Observation Paper
To gather a comprehensive collection of the plant species found on the SCICON property.
Observations will be made of plant associations, slope and soil conditions. The results will aid us in
determining vegetation composition and create vegetation profiles of the area.
Tulare County, with the exception of the National Parks, has one of the least known floras in
California. Since much of the valley floor has been converted to agricultural purposes and the
foothills dedicated to ranching, there have been few botanical surveys performed. Evidence of
gaps in collections are glaring when one references the site localities of collections in the Cal Flora
website. The Sierra Nevada foothills are known for their high plant diversity (Barbour, 1990) and

Distinctive patterns of plant distribution are evident at the SCICON facility. Riparian habitats
associated with Bear Creek show high diversity and are well represented by plants requiring high
moisture soils such as alders, sycamores, and willows. South and west facing slopes receive the
greatest amount of solar exposure and thus support only plant species well adapted to drought and
heat stress. Quercus douglassii (Blue Oak) appears to be the dominant species in this strongly xeric
environment. North and east facing slopes have a very diverse representation of trees that include
Umbellularia californica (California bay), Quercus wislizeni (live oak) and Aesculus
hippocastanum (horse chestnut). Within these varied environments are found an array of
vegetation types listed above that are named after their dominant species. At SCICON Quercus
douglasii (Blue Oak) Woodlands are the most dominant. Several species collected over the last few
months had not been previously collected by UC Jepson affiliated

The Rich And Large Corporations Get Richer
In Sander s (2011) book, upon reviewing it, a few topics came up. Sanders speaks specifically on
how in the United States there are a plethora of corporate greed and corruption. Like Sanders
(2011) quotes in his book: The rich and large corporations get richer, the CEOs earn huge
compensation packages, and when things get bad, don t worry; Uncle Sam and the American
taxpayers are here to bail you out. But when you are in trouble, well, we just can t afford to help
you, if you are in the working class or middle class of this country. (P.169). Here it shows how he
examines the facts on exactly how screwed up our system is. With Sanders facts and thoughts you
see how passionate he is to do the right thing, which he thinks everyone should be as well. Sanders
quotes in his book a lot about how he thinks citizens should be taking action towards corruptionand
greed that s among their towns and cities. Sanders reviews economic issues every day, he pleads
and speaks on the truth and effects of how America is the dumbing ground of corporate greed and
political corruption. From the time of 2010 2016, Sanders finds out that corporate GREED is
destroying the economy. He speaks on how almost all of the new wealth and income is going to the
top 1%. He not only believes that but thinks the mainstream media is more interested in discussing

College Admissions Flaws
On top of exceptional students getting declined, prestigious schools are accepting less qualified
students such as legacies, athletes, and minorities, contributing to the flawed system. Rather than
admitting students based on their potential to succeed and personal attributes alone, universities
often admit slightly inferior candidates in order to increase their diversity population and maintain
a dedicated alumni. In A is For Admission, Michele Hernandez mentions some of these
discrepancies when explaining that legacies, students with a parent who attended the university,
have a forty percent acceptance rate at Dartmouth in comparison with the typical ten percent
acceptance rate (183). Additionally, Hernandez further explains that athletes... Show more content

Starting in high school, students are not given equal opportunities to excel because of family
background. Furthermore, the admissions process itself has its flaws legacies, minorities, and
athletes are being chosen over exceptionally gifted valedictorians. Even after college, the problems
do not end; possible joblessness and student debt are unavoidable. On top of these major
problems, educators and parents continue to convince kids everywhere that college is the only
option to become successful, and choosing another path is heavily looked down upon. The
newest generation s life is centered around the climax of college while at the same time, more
and more students are unable to attend universities because of cost or rejection, but this is a
paradox. The more high schoolers work hard, the more high schoolers will get turned down to
their dream schools, and the more the college admissions process effectively become a lottery,
leading to many highly talented, brilliant, creative people thinking they re not (Robinson). The
widespread college problem has no easy fix, nor does it have a single solution. Rather than
working to fix the unfixable, adults must stop putting such emphasis on the college pathway, and
instead stress that there are other options. The future of the job world is unknown; there is no way
to know if an expensive college education is the right choice. College, with all of its flaws, is just
one option in preparing for the future; it is not necessarily the best. Therefore, the single word,
college, should stop dividing the academic from the non academic or the successful from the
unsuccessful, and instead be considered a single path in an array of worthy

type of jealousy, control, and manipulations will set the abuser apart from the abused. An individual
who is abused will have characteristics of insecurities, low self esteem, trust issues, and withdrawn
symptoms. This can happen from the effects of mental or physical abuse.
Screening a child for abuse or neglect can be difficult at times because the child is not fully

environments. The characteristics of an abuse child or neglected are; withdrawn symptoms, violent,
depressed, and fearful. These characteristics have to be evaluating carefully to ensure there is not a

Visual Argumentative Essay On Icy Water
Some images [visual and multimedia] are so iconic that they become part of our cultural memory.
(Pg.326). Take, as an example, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video an ingenious idea, a powerful
visual argument that is spreading ALS awareness nationwide. For the past few weeks, social media
have been shown videos of people pouring icy water on themselves for the ALS Association. If,
before the video, the imageof people throwing icy water on themselves was associated with
summer games or with the hot weather now the same image belongs to the ALS Association. And
a bucket and icy water two ordinary images have become ASL iconic symbols. Therefore, as
McLuhan says, We shape our tools and afterwards our tools shape us. (Pg. 327). Is, then, the
medium in this case the bucket of icy water the most important element of a visual argument?
For McLuhan the medium [the bucket, the icy water] is the message [and]...All media works us

In reading the King James Version, New American bible, and new living translation, each of these

Although each translation is clear and understandable, I believe the King James Version is more
transparent to those who will read it. These translations do not make a difference in understanding

Ponzi Scheme
Ponzi Scheme
Corporate Finance
A Ponzi scheme is an illegal business practice in which new investor s money is used to make
payments to earlier investors. In many Ponzi schemes, the fraudsters focus on attracting new
money to make promised payments to earlier stage investors and to use for personal expenses,
instead of engaging in any legitimate investment activity. The returns are repaid out of new
investors principal, but not from profits. This can continue as long as new investors line up with
cash, and old investors don t try to withdraw too much of their money at once.

He had started his business with a loan of $200, but within months he had two offices in Boston
with a staff of dozens of employees processing sales, and he bought a modest mansion for
$35,000. Of course, there were no actual profits, Ponzi had not actually bought the IRCs, and he
paid early investors with the funds derived from later investors. This only worked well for him
because of the rapid payments made to investors. People saw what he could do and they wanted
in, so he was selling the IRC s quickly and convincing people to reinvest their funds, he was able
to postpone his financial obligations even longer. By the time the scheme collapsed his income
was estimated at $1M per week, and late coming investors were defrauded of between $7 $15M.
The downfall started from some investigative journalism, this led to the District attorney getting
involved and Ponzi being charged. Most of Ponzi s gains were seized in an involuntary
bankruptcy hearing, and what little remained was spent in his subsequent legal battles. Ponzi s
scheme was exposed by newspaper reports in 1920 and despite his claims of innocence, a federal
audit confirmed his operation was bankrupt, owing almost $4 million or more to investors. After
investigation, Ponzi was charged with 86 counts of mail fraud and sentenced to five years in
federal prison, and while incarcerated on federal charges he

Acoustic Spaces And Ambient Noise Levels
Introduction
A range of observations were conducted to assess acoustic spaces in terms of their characteristics
and ambient noise levels. Using a Digitech QM 1589 (see figure one) three studies were measured
in order to successfully account for characteristic behaviours and differentiate between ambient
noise levels. These studies where assessed under A and C weightings and in fast and slow settings.
A weighting follows the frequency sensitivity of the human ear at low
Figure One: Digitech QM 1589 (http://www.jaycar.com.au/) 2016 levels while C weighting is the
frequency sensitivity of the human ear at very high noise levels (Hear Forever, 2013).
Measurement One is the sound pressure level of 8 acoustic environments that where examined to
establish the quietest space possible, maintaining a reliable and consistent source of results.
Measurement Two follows the assessment of Clarendon Street, a busy road; involving the
observations of cars, trucks and trams that share the road. Measurement Three is the analysis

The Power of Carver s Little Things Essay
The Power of Carver s Little Things
To a reader unfamiliar with his work, Raymond Carver s short story, Little Things may seem
devoid of all literary devices owning to good writing. Fortunately, these people are mistaken. With
his minimalistic style, it is what Carver doesn t write that makes his work so effective. Most of
Carver s short stories describe situations that many people could find themselves in and that is why
his work is so appealing to readers. They are not restricted to harsh explicative details or over
dramatized language, but are allowed to create their own rationale for the actions of the characters
and the consequent results.

Carver describes this scene with an emotional detachment, concentrating more on what is
happening, rather than why. In her essay about understanding Carver s revisions, Hashimoto says
that minimalistic writing describes the events as they transpire, allowing the reader to draw his
own conclusions. It is most likely that this is Carver s goal.
On account of Carver s use of the outsider s perspective, the reader is not prepared for the
climactic ending: She would have it, this baby. She grabbed for the baby s other arm. She caught
the baby around the wrist and leaned back. But he would not let go. He felt the baby slipping out
of his hands and he pulled back very hard. In this manner, the issue was decided. Here, the reader
comes to the point of the story, that two people s own selfishness blinds them to the suffering they
cause another. Carver says of this approach. Almost all the characters is my stories come to the
point where they realize that compromise, giving in, plays a major role in their lives. Then one
single moment of revelation disrupts the pattern of their daily lives. It s a fleeting moment during
which they realize that they don t want to compromise anymore. And afterwards they realize that
nothing ever really changes (Carson). The story ends with the reader guessing at the emotional
depth of the characters and why they would stop at nothing to get what they wanted. As the man

The range of boating adventures I ve experienced in the 1000 Islands is considerable. I recall one
outing that continues to stand out, and I revisit it now as I fondly remember the captain of that
occasion, William E. Browning III, who passed away in 2013. A small contingent of river rats
including Browning and myself were enjoying an evening libation at the St James Hotel Saloon

The Importance Of Prenatal Care
The Importance of Prenatal Care Pregnancy can either be the most wonderful time in a woman s
life or the scariest and quite often it is both at the same time. One of the first things that most
women do when they become pregnant or even before they become pregnant is focus on their
prenatal care. This time in the womb is very important in a baby s development and taking care of
the body is something that is extremely beneficial to the wellbeing of a newborn. Prenatal care is
probably one of the most important parts of pregnancyin general. There are many things that
women can do in order to get the prenatal care that is needed in order to prevent diseases of the
mother that can lead to birth defects of the child and long term problems for the mother as well.
The first thing that should be done when becoming pregnant is to visit a doctor. The doctor will
administer a blood test to ensure the pregnancy and get started on prenatal care. They will ask
about the patient s medical history and gynecological history as well as run tests. Throughout the
pregnancy, visits to the doctor are vital. They are spread out at first and toward the end of the
pregnancy will be more frequent. During these visits patients can ask questions and voice concerns
they have with the pregnancy as well as being able to see ultrasounds and running tests to make
sure everything is okay with the child and mother. According to an article in the European Journal

The Most Ironic Law Of All Time
The Most Ironic Law of all Time
The era of cable television reaches its final breath. Digital media begins flourishing. Online

internet is causing a change so radical that legal matters are still catching up with it. As the
Founding Fathers intended, effective law should include creating law adapts to society s changes.
However, change hasn t occurred yet. The American copyrightlaw only gets more controversial as
it butts its way in. There is now a three way skirmish between creators, large corporations and
legislature for a simple reason. It is preventing creative freedom and distribution of content online.
The American copyright law is ironically limiting much of this generation s creativity by preventing
exposure, criminalizing the wrong people and letting others take advantages of its own loopholes.
To provide some background information, the creation of American copyright law dates back to the
beginnings of the constitution of the United States. That is, the Copyright law was intended to
promote science and useful arts by giving the author the right of protection from copy theft (art. I,
sec 8). That means that the published work would be protected from being replicated; it cannot be
used by anybody else without permission. That being said, the law offers a way to prevent
infringement: public domain. This is material that loses protection from copyright law. When

Persuasive Essay About White Water Rafting
An hour in and I absolutely regret my decision to go white water rafting. I went on vacation with
my boyfriend Mitchell s family to Colorado. We stayed in a large condo that was located in
Colorado Springs. We had places to go every day and today we decided to go white water rafting.
There was eight of us that went, Gene, Lori, Andrew, Mitchell, Shane, Jenna, Trenna, and I. It was
an early morning, we had to get up at 6:00 am to drive to Royal GorgeRafting. We packed into the
minivan we rented and started the long drive.
We got to Royal Gorge Rafting and I was beyond excited. We got all of our gear on, helmet,
lifejacket, and water shoes, and were ready to go. You had to take a yellow school bus, which
smelled like old leather, to get to the Arkansas river. My group and four other groups piled into
the bus. When we got to the river, the river guides explained what would happen if we fell out of
the raft. They also explained how to get people out of the river if it were to happen. I never
thought I would have to worry about falling out. We stepped in the raft and started drifting down
the river when Shane discovered water was leaking and there was bubbling coming from the
side of the raft. We discovered there was a hole in the side and Lori started freaking out like it

In general, a UNDAF programme runs for around three years and has some underlying agenda
along with periodic reviews (Jagel, 2012).
United Nation s Delivering as one vision in the area of development assistance has been a major
strategic programme framework which intends to work upon achieving national development
priorities which is evident from observance of the progress and the outcomes of the contribution
done so far as well as going on track with the future targets under various objectives and criteria
with respect to various countries.
According to United Nations Development Group (2010), further to authorizing its conduct and
contribution, the General Assembly also encouraged the UN development system to boost its
collaboration with the various countries at different levels in order to bolster the national
capabilities as well as to support the national development priorities with the help of assessment of
the common countries and the UNDAF.
In order to bring about development, the UN implemented the deliver as one at the country level in

My Love Of Dance
It seems like from the moment I could walk, I have had a love for dancing. When I was little,
every chance I got, I would perform in front of my family. Whether I was singing, dancing,
dressing up, or pretending to be a model on the runway, I wanted all the attention on me. When my
mom put me into dance classes, I instantly fell in love with it, because the whole time, I got to do
what I loved the most: perform. As the years went on, dancebecame something I was truly
passionate about, and the lessons I learned from it began to change me. Those lessons and the ones
I am still learning from dance have had a huge impact on me, making me into the person I am today.
When I was little dance was a way to have fun and be a star, and I could show the big outgoing
personality I had, but I became more reserved and shy as I grew up. Throughout intermediate
school and junior high, I remained someone who was an introvert and strayed away from most
social encounters. During this time, dance was something that allowed me to express what I was
feeling, but without words. The few friends I had at the time had been in my life since
kindergarten. Life was very comfortable and easy for me since I had lived in the same place
forever. I didn t want anything to change, and the idea of anything changing scared me. What I
didn t know was that a change would be exactly what I needed.
At the start of high school, my family moved to a new town. This meant making a whole new group
of friends. But how?

Antitrust Practices and Market Power
Introduction
This paper will discuss the antitrust law, specifically the Sherman Act of 1870. A claim was filed
against the NCAA by the Governor of Pennsylvania for reasons that violate this act. It will also
discuss monopolies and oligopolies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He claims that this power, or monopolization has caused the NCAA to threaten Penn State with the
suspension of their football team altogether, which then lead to Penn State agreeing to the
violations and accepting the drastic but less painful sanctions (citation) in order to hold onto some
of their reputation.
The costs that are associated with this specific case are mainly targeted to the amount that Penn
State s football program generates annually. It has been claimed that Penn State impacts about
161.5 million statewide not to mention the $90million economic impact in Centre County alone
(Miller, 2013). James D. Schultz, Corbett s general counsel also stated that more than 2,000 jobs
were also supported by this program; this alone is why the antitrust claim was investigated, due to
the affect on Pennsylvania s economy and on the citizens as a whole.
Monopolies Bad for Society?
After the proper amount of research, having monopolies and oligopolies are not always bad for
our society. Sometimes they can provide the stability that our government and economy needs in
order to create a low enough cost for production and overall beneficial. For example, most utilities
are considered to be a positive monopoly. Electric and gas companies in particular are beneficial in
having the government regulate the prices so that each individual would not have to be in charge
of having their own generators or source of electricity that would

The Contributions And Impact Of Dutch Imperialism In...
Dutch Impacts Body Paragraphs: Dutch supremacy on Indonesia allowed an advanced
interconnection in which societal structures and values were changed in positive and negative
forms, impacting the indigenous people of Indonesia. The Dutch colonial reign allowed for unity
among the natives and created a new basic unit of administration in the Javanese countryside...tied
the peasantry far more closely to the land then it had been in early colonial times (Cribb, Robert).
As the Indonesian laborers and aristocrats among the Archipelago interacted with Dutch soldiers
and were inhabited by varied ethnicities; the Indonesian natives grew stronger together in adversity
and were strengthened in patriotism. On a positive light the Dutch introduced several... Show more

In the 18th century during the gradual decline of the VOC, production interests were shifted to
production of coffee and sugar in Java which also to a greater interference in Javanese politics
(Reid, Anthony). Moreover, upon the arrival of the Dutch, the VOC became the arbiter in dynastic
disputes and in conflicts between rival rulers...inevitably emerged as the main political entity in the
archipelago (Encyclopedia Britannica). Once advanced community structures developed, a
variation of ethnicities (Chinese and Europeans, trading ships from China, Arabia and India)
inhabited the Archipelago. Visitors in the 18th century reported Batavia trading docks were always
full of the flags of all nations, attracted by profit they are sure to make by it (Haniggan, Tim). Thus
implying that as a variety of trading ships were originating from differing countries, Indonesia was
excelling as spices were valuable and were exchanged with new export commodities with its naval
or maritime dominance, the VOC, which was the preeminent presence of the regional commerce
networks (Haniggan, Tim). Furthermore, educational programs, governmental foundations, and
ameliorated policies contributed to strengthened nationalism and political justices. By 1901 the
Dutch Queen Wilhelmina proposed a new Ethical Policy which would be applied

Donald Trump Propaganda
As a civilization, trends come and go, what people perceived as cool back then like wearing
parachute pants may not seem so likely today. These trends blow up and die out as quickly as they
come, but to become the kid who fit in you had to follow these trends. What causes these uproars in
popularity are propaganda or campaigns that outline the subject in a positive or negative
manner.Lately all across social media political propaganda has been branding Donald Trumpan anti
hero, and a degenerate, but can this propaganda backfire in a way that is good for Donald
Trump? Is this free publicity in favor of him?

More than any other candidate, Trump has understood how deeply rooted these feelings have
become and he has successfully built an entire campaign around them. If Democrats think they
will have an easy time stopping him in the fall, they might want to take a closer look at the
characters who have been attracting the masses in recent years. I feel as though Zelizer s
opinion upon the situation is partially right, but I believe Trump has gained the population s
vote, and has sustained loyal members of his political party, by being a truthful candidate.
Unlike other candidate s Trump speaks the cold hard truth most of the time, whereas other
people like Hillary Clinton fluff up the truth not exposing how critical situations have become in
the world. In this case trump is the anti hero and Hillary is the hero, people don t want to live in
a fictionalized world made up of lies promised by the candidate, they want the real world and
action done now, and they know Trump is going to be a dynamic character if he becomes

Two of the planes directly struck the World Trade Center located in New York City, one of the other two planes hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the final plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania before it could reach its final destination. On this day, more than 3,000 people were killed including over 400 first responding police officers and firefighters. In recent years as people look back on that day it is remembered as a time when the country was joined together by grief and showed an overwhelming amount of comfort and support to the victims and their families; it was also a time of extreme national pride. People also remember that following the attacks the economy suffered tremendously, in addition, air traffic which makes up a portion of the economy was greatly disrupted, both of which created uncertainty about the security of the financial markets critical to the success of the United States. What most people do not remember is the immediate backlash and hostility the Muslim and Arab communities received following the attacks by both civilians and the media. In the upper atmosphere, the air will be cold with west or southwest facing winds. These two components in the upper and lower atmosphere together create the atmospheric instability. Another key component to form a tornadois wind shear. Wind shear is the change in wind speed and direction of wind while the warmer and cooler air are chasing each other around in the circle, creating the height of the tornado. Sanders speaks specifically on how in the United States there are a plethora of corporate greed and corruption. Like Sanders (2011) quotes in his book: The rich and large corporations get richer, the CEOs earn huge compensation packages, and when things get bad, don t worry; Uncle Sam and the American taxpayers are here to bail you out. But when you are in trouble, well, we just can t afford to help you, if you are in the working class or middle class of this country. (P.169). College Admissions Flaws On top of exceptional students getting declined, prestigious schools are accepting less qualified students such as legacies, athletes, and minorities, contributing to the flawed system. Rather than admitting students based on their potential to succeed and personal attributes alone, universities often admit slightly inferior candidates in order to increase their diversity population and maintain a dedicated alumni. In A is For Admission, Michele Hernandez mentions some of these discrepancies when explaining that legacies, students with a parent who attended the university, have a forty percent acceptance rate at Dartmouth in comparison with the typical ten percent acceptance rate (183). Starting in high school, students are not given equal opportunities to excel because of family background. Furthermore, the admissions process itself has its flaws legacies, minorities, and athletes are being chosen over exceptionally gifted valedictorians. Even after college, the problems do not end; possible joblessness and student debt are unavoidable. On top of these major problems, educators and parents continue to convince kids everywhere that college is the only option to become successful, and choosing another path is heavily looked down upon. The newest generation s life is centered around the climax of college while at the same time, more and more students are unable to attend universities because of cost or rejection, but this is a paradox. The more high schoolers work hard, the more high schoolers will get turned down to their dream schools, and the more the college admissions process effectively become a lottery, leading to many highly talented, brilliant, creative people thinking they re not (Robinson). The widespread college problem has no easy fix, nor does it have a single solution. Rather than working to fix the unfixable, adults must stop putting such emphasis on the college pathway, and instead stress that there are other options. The future of the job world is unknown; there is no way to know if an expensive college education is the right choice. College, with all of its flaws, is just one option in preparing for the future; it is not necessarily the best. The returns are repaid out of new investors principal, but not from profits. She grabbed for the baby s other arm. She caught the baby around the wrist and leaned back. But he would not let go. He felt the baby slipping out of his hands and he pulled back very hard. I feel as though Zelizer s opinion upon the situation is partially right, but I believe Trump has gained the population s vote, and has sustained loyal members of his political party, by being a truthful candidate. Unlike other candidate s Trump speaks the cold hard truth most of the time, whereas other people like Hillary Clinton fluff up the truth not exposing how critical situations have become in the world. In this case trump is the anti hero and Hillary is the hero, people don t want to live in a fictionalized world made up of lies promised by the candidate, they want the real world and action done now, and they know Trump is going to be a dynamic character if he becomes ...
