Chapter 3 Digestion
Cheyenne De Jong
October 8, 2017
The digestive system is a group of organs that work together. It is responsible for taking whole foods
and turning them into energy and nutrients to allow the body to function, grow and repair itself. Today,
I will explain how the digestive system performs this unique process. I m having a loaded tuna
sandwich with lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayonnaise. The bread of my sandwich is mostly
carbohydrates. Carbs are the sugars, starches and fibers found in fruits, grains, vegetables and milk
products. Carbohydrates contain macronutrients that provide fuel for the Central Nervous System and
energy for working muscles. The tuna in my sandwich contains mostly proteins and is also high in
vitamin B12. Proteins are substances that have amino acids, compounds, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen,
nitrogen and sometimes sulfur and are found in many foods. They are essential in the diet for growth
and repair of tissue and can be obtained from foods such as meat, fish, eggs, milk and legumes. The
lettuce contains fiber, carbs, and vitamins C and A. The tomato also has vitamin C. My cheese has
protein, calcium, vitamin B12 and also fats, or lipids. The mayonnaise is mostly lipids as well. Lipid is
another word for fats . They are stored in the body as energy reserves and are also important
components of cell membranes. As I take my first bite, the sandwich enters my mouth. My mouth
releases enzymes like amylase and

Whiskey Rebellion Dbq
During George Washington s Presidency he did achieve the goals for the United States that are listed
in the Preamble. In the Preamble it states, We the People of the United States, in order to form a more
perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote
the general welfare... During his period in office, Washington established justice, insured domestic
tranquility, provided for the common defense and promoted general welfare. As stated in the Preamble
that the people will establish justice, George Washington did exactly that while in office. When
Washington came to office the first thing he did was put a working government in place, which would

However, George Washington provided a common defense and maintained domestic tranquility. Take
the Whiskey Rebellion for example, farmers revolted against a tax passed by Congress and it did not
end well. As stated in America: The History of Our Nation, Some Pennsylvania farmers who were
against the tax started a violent protest. Washington sent federal troops to Pennsylvania, showing that
armed rebellion would not be accepted. The reason for this rebellion was because of the tax Congress
put on whiskey made and sold in the country, which is why it is called the Whiskey Rebellion. This
uprising tested the will of the new government, however Washington s forceful response showed
Americans that armed rebellion was not acceptable in a republic. Furthermore, when Washington left
office, in his farewell address he made two major points. Firstly, he warned against political divisions,
he feared that violent divisions might tear the nation apart. Secondly, he stated that the United States
should not get entangled in foreign affairs. Probably because if they did interfere in foreign affairs the
citizens of the United States may support different sides, which would create issues within the country
that might tear it apart. These points contribute to the fact that Washington maintained domestic
tranquility and provided common

inform you all of this basketball league called the National Basketball Association, or NBA for short,
and I will talk about how the NBA has become a popular sports league that entertains and connects
people globally. As an avid fan of the NBA for over 7 years, I have devoted many hours watching
NBA games, studying the history of the NBA, and indulging myself with a plethora of NBA products
such as clothes and shoes. In other words, ball is life! The NBA encompasses a structure to entertain
viewers while developing a notable global impact. First, I will discuss how NBA teams are organized.
Next, I will discuss the NBA season format. Finally, I will discuss 2 NBA events.
The first thing I will discuss will be how NBA teams are organized. According to an article written by
the NBA, there are 30 teams in the league. These 30 teams are split evenly into 2 conferences: The
Western Conference and the Eastern Conference. The 2 conferences are broken down into 3 divisions
with 5 teams in each one. The Western Conference has the Northwest, Pacific, and Southwest
divisions, while the Eastern Conference has the Atlantic, Southeast, and Central divisions.

Comparing Japanese and American Diets Essay examples
Comparing Japanese and American Diets
The typical diet of the average Japanese citizen is much healthier than that of an average American
citizen. The Japanese diet is vastly different than the common western diet in terms of ingredients
used, portion size, preparation, and relationship between its users and their food. While Americans
commonly opt for unhealthy food high in calories, fat, cholesterol, and sodium, many people of Japan
benefit from their healthy choice of rice, fish, vegetables, and soy products. The Japanese style of
preparing and serving food is also very intricate and deliberate, which encourages diners to truly
appreciate their food, instead of rushing through each meal without much thought, as done in the ...

The health of both overweight and obese people lies in jeopardy due to the extra stress placed on the
body, especially the heart, due to the high amount of excess fat they carry with themiv. Being
overweight or obese increases a person s risk for diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high
cholesterol, some types of cancer, stroke, and several other devastating ailments. The percentage of
the obese population in the United States has risen from 23% to its present day rate of 30% in only
eight yearsv. This skyrocketing trend is most likely related to the increase in portion sizes and calories
at many American restaurants, the rising level of stress and expectation during the average workday,
and the logarithmic increase in fast food restaurant options over the last 20 years. To understand how
the Japanese diet supersedes the typical American diet in numerous health issues, several aspects of
the diets must be evaluated. The staples of a typical Japanese diet differ dramatically from the
centerpieces of the average American diet. In Japan, the main dietary staple is rice, which only has
approximately 100 calories per half cup serving, a negligible amount of fat, and a very low amount of
sodium. Since rice serves as the nutritional core of almost every meal, this diet offers consistency and
balance to its users. Many Japanese people eat twice as much fish as red meat, and since fish is high in
protein while low in saturated fat, fish is a healthier

Assembly Row Essay
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority adds a new station to the orange line for easy
commute to new development project, Assembly Row. Also, an increase in fares is installed as a result
of newly added later running services, which run until 2:30 am on weekends. The MBTA s newest
station on the Orange Line, which offers a stop between the Wellington and Sullivan stations, began
service on September 2. Assembly Station, located in the district of Somerville, is the first new T stop
in 26 years. However, the $29 million station is part of an even greater project, the development of

The site, which used to house a Ford motor plant, now features restaurants, office space, residential
units, a 6 acre park, and an outlet mall. The Assembly Row Marketplace includes a Lego Land

stores target customers looking for high retail labels at discount prices. The new development of
Assembly Row should draw substantial populations to the area to shop, to work, or to live. The
location of Assembly Station is aimed to ease the commute of those looking merely to access
Assembly Row for its entertainment and shopping options. Conversely, Assembly Station assays the
worries of residents of Assembly Square looking for a cost and time efficient commute into the city. I
m really excited for the outlet stores and the fact that they are T accessible because shopping in Boston
as we all know, tends to be on the more expensive side said shopper Maria Balderrama, 32. Though
the addition of Assembly Station is beneficial to those living or traveling to Assembly Square, the
traffic on the T will substantially increase as a result. The orange line, on which Assembly Station is
running, already transports an average of 203,000 riders a week. The number of commuters will
continue to rise as the Assembly Row project continues development in the upcoming

Mary Anthony Research Paper
Anthony s first paid position was headmistress of the girls department of Canajoharie Academy in
1846. During this time she was deeply troubled by the fact that women received much lower wages
than their male counterparts for equal work. She returned to the family farm in Rochester New York
when Canajoharie Academy closed in 1849. At this time she began to be fully involved in reform
work. She was introduced to Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1851 who had played a key role in organizing
the Seneca Falls convention in 1848, which was the first women s rights convention in the United
States. The two of them formed a lifelong friendship and ever after were constant partners in the battle
for women s rights and social justice. Their relationship was complimentary: Stanton did the writing
and came up with ideas while Anthony excelled at organizing and delivering speeches. Her methods of
raising public awareness and building grassroots support for social causes are still in use by political
parties today. From the beginning the women s movement was closely ... Show more content on

right of women to speak in public was often opposed. Nevertheless Anthony persevered and soon she

Babbit by Sinclair Lewis Essays
Babbitt: Conformity
In the Sinclair Lewis novel Babbitt, the character of Babbitt is completely controlled by the power of
conformity. Conformity is so powerful that even after babbitt realizes the stifling nature of the society
in which he lives he is powerless to change his fate as a member of conformist society.
George F. Babbitt is a man who is completely controlled by the conformist society in which he lives.
Pressure to conform lies in all aspects of Babbitt s life. Relationships, family, social life, and business
are all based on his ability to conform to Zenith s preset standards of thought and action. All of Babbitt

Lewis wanted to show the reader, a man who s life is based on the ideals and standards of others.
quot;Villages overgrown towns three quarters of a million people still dressing, eating, building
houses, attending church, to make an impression on their neighbors. quot; (Lewis). This is what Lewis
thought of American society and he used Babbitt to voice his opinions to his readers. In fact that
passage was intended to be included in the original introduction of Babbitt, which was never
published.
Babbitt does well in conformist society because in the beginning of the novel he accepts all the
standards, goals, ideals, likes, and dislikes of society. Babbitt s though mirrors all those around him
and he is therefore accepted in society. At first Babbitt lives in the illusion of happiness. The happiness
Babbitt experiences is not genuine because he has replaced his desires with those of society. Since
Babbitt is controlled by society his goals are also controlled by it. The goals set by society are
economic and material worth, social standing, and conservative thought.
Since Babbitt has achieved, at least in part, these goals he is in a sense fooled into believing he is truly
happy. Babbitt s true desires however are not those of society he dreams of nature instead of
modernization, young women instead of his

The Banking System And Global Economy Essay
The US Banking System US Banking System and Global Economy Functions and Roles of US
Financial Institutions Financial institutions are the intermediaries that connect savers with borrowers,
providing these parties with access to the financial markets (Cecchetti, 2015, p. 64). In their role as
financial intermediaries, the functions these institutions are responsible for help the US economy
operate more efficiently. They reduce both transaction and information costs within the financial
system by standardizing loan products and borrower screening processes. These institutions also
minimize risk for savers by pooling their resources and lending the pooled funds to many borrowers.
Doing so meets the needs of savers, who can access their funds when they need them, and borrowers,
who can utilize borrowed funds on the terms that best meet their needs (Cecchetti, 2015, p. 66). It
would be much more difficult, and expensive, to match one saver with one borrower who agreed to
the exact amount and term of a loan than it is to pool resources and let a specialized institution manage
the loans. For example, imagine how difficult it would be to find one individual willing to loan you
$20,000 for a period of five years at a 3% annual interest rate so you could purchase a car. Finding a
suitable match for your particular needs would be incredibly difficult and expensive, but financial
intermediaries are able to provide this service to borrowers and savers every day at a low cost.

In Depth Analysis Of Emicho And His Crusaders
The first crusade started in 1096 B.C. when Pope Urban II called for the for a holy war. This was the
beginning of the first crusade. What originally was supposed to be the taking back of Jerusalem led to
the death of thousands of Jewish people. This with previous persecution of the Jews, by Christians, led
to even more persecution of Jews. Pope Urban II called for a holy war in 1095. Urban wanted the
Christians to take over the holy city of Jerusalem. He also said the Islamic people committed crimes
against Christendom. When he called for this crusade he expected to have trained soldiers partake in
the war and taking over of Jerusalem. What he didn t expect were thousands of untrained peasants, but

Primary Purpose Of Horses
The primary purpose of horses has definitely changed over decades. Around 4500 2500 BC, horses
and donkeys were primarily used for meat and milk, mounts, draft, and waging war. They were used
for traveling more than draft, since oxen were more effective with pulling and working in the fields.
Overtime, the need for horses decreased in many areas that it was originally used for. Oxen were
preferred in drafting, travelling by horseback was not as efficient anymore, they were poor meat
animals, and more difficult to herd than sheep or cattle. These are the reasons that horses are not
considered a commodity since they aren t grown for production or very useful to many. In the early
1700s, racing begins in Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland. People would bet on what horse
would win the race and it was, and still is, a competitive sport. During this time, horses were still
being used as draft animals and travel (for large plantations). Today, horses are primarily used for
recreational purposes like pleasure riding and racing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Three Alones Of Reformation Theology
Question 1. What are the three alones of Reformation theology? How do they relate to one another in
Luther s theology? How does Luther s use of them respond to the dominant question of the sixteenth
century: How can I know that God is favorable to me?
The three alones in Reformation theology refer to that which is needed for justification or salvation
favorableness in the sight of God. Luther describes them as 1) Christ, or the Gospel of Christ
(Scripture), alone, 2) faith alone, and 3) grace alone. Each of these three are essentially united in
Luther s theology.
Christ is the most important factor in the three, because without Christ and without His Word, as
recorded in Scripture, one cannot begin to have faith or hope to receive the necessary grace that comes
with faith and guarantees salvation. As Luther states, One thing, and one alone, is necessary for life,
justification, and Christian liberty; and that is the most holy word of God, the Gospel of Christ
(Luther, p. 9). Through Christ and the preaching of His Word comes belief. If one believes, that is has
faith, which implies trust and commitment, then one is justified and has found favor in God s eyes:
For faith alone, and the efficacious use of the word of God, bring salvation (Luther, p. 9)
Luther downplays the importance of works in the justification of man and instead emphasizes the
place of faith and the grace that goes with it: For the word of God cannot be received and honoured by
any works,

As Griffin (2009, p. 364) so concisely stated, the media aren t very successful in telling us what to
think, but they are stunningly successful in telling us what to think about . In more recent times, the
direction of this theory has changed. Scholars have begun to focus on how the media frame social
issues through the inclusion and omission of certain attributes of particular events (Ruddock, 2013).
Framing refers to the forming of narratives and concepts that deliver meaning as an event unfolds
(McCombs and Shaw, 1972). Themes such as media violence, particularly in the event of a school
shooting, are often used to repeatedly reinforce social norms that are deemed important by the media.
As a result, generic stereotypes are inevitably cast and the potential copycat behavior advertised.
Only days ago, Elliot Rodger, a twenty two year old student at the University of California in Santa
Barbara, embarked on a killing spree within the student community of Isla Vista. On the night of May
23, Rodger left six victims dead and thirteen others injured before turning his gun on himself. In the
new digital era, society actively participates in both receiving and creating media messages to shape
social reality (Ruddock, 2013). In

Podcasts And Content Marketing Essay
Content marketing began as a simple concept; one simply wrote blogs and articles related to specific
products and/or services and promoted them; however, content creation in 2018 has come full circle.
Businesses today have tried to keep up with content trends and have used different tools to promote
content in 2018.
Podcasts and Content Marketing
One of these content trends is the use of podcasts. Keep in mind that podcasting has been used by
many professions for quite some time now but its use in content marketing is relatively new.
Podcasting is fast catching. Approximately 40% people in the US listen to at least one podcast on a
regular basis. This trend has been observed in both genders. In addition, podcast listeners often buy ...

Format: Set up your basic show format. There is no right or wrong way to set up a podcast. The
important thing is that you feel comfortable with the entire idea, flow, and format. Some podcasters
ask questions from the listeners, others only provide a running commentary, and yet others wait until
the end to answer questions. However, for effective content creation in 2018, it might be a good idea
to interview an expert who answers relevant questions. This way you can provide your audience with a
more credible source and you also don t have to answer every question that your audience may ask.
Length: Remember, a podcast should not go on forever. Most people keep it for 45 60 minutes. This
seems like an appropriate length because anything longer than this could bore your listeners and force
them to sign off.
Engaging the listeners: One of the most critical elements of a podcast is that it should have content
that is both engaging and interesting for the audience. An effective way to do so is by picking up
trending topics, invite guests and experts and keep the flow of information smooth and relevant. Your
audience wants to learn something and they want to derive information from your podcast. You need
to make sure you are able to provide the information. Therefore, your best content advice in 2018 is

Large Urban Cities In America
Problem Statement
Global Warming is quickly becoming a growing issue for large urban cities in America. As we expand
our urban areas with the growing population, cities use more energy for air conditioning, water, and
lighting (). Although air conditioning is powered by electricity, many urban cities rely on the
combustion of coal for energy (). Combustion of coal emits CO2 and deadly gases into the atmosphere
which leads to Global Warming (). Buildings in urban areas use conventional roofs as their main
aesthetics. Conventional roofs are generally comprised of tar and gravel. On hot summer days,
conventional rooftops can be 27 50°C hotter than the surrounding air temperature. This happens
because the albedo of tar and gravel is extremely low which allows for the sun s energy to be absorbed
instead of reflected (). The increased temperature leads to urban heat islands (). Increasing higher
albedo surfaces on roofs will result in more reflection of solar energy away from the urban areas ().
Rooftops covered in plants, also known as Green Roofs have grown popular tremendously in the last
decade. These rooftops are covered in natural greenery like small trees, bushes, flowers, grass, etc.
Green roofs are cost effective way to solve many problems with global warming in urban areas ().

Effect Of Smoke Regulation On Hospitality Industry
INTRODUCTION:
Scientific research article should be presented as logical arguments and in such a way that sequence of
the article sections will correspond to a model or chain of reasoning that applies to such article
(Krathwohl, 2009, P.62). However, the research article by Hyland, et al (2003) does not seem to have
the framework or follow this model or organized in chain of reasoning sequence/format for some
reasons best known by the authors . Beside, Krathwohl, (2009) pointed out that this chain chain of
reasoning model applies differently to preplanned and emergent studies.
The authors justification of the need for the study, including the degree to which the authors
synthesized and critically analyzed existing research to show that this study is the next logical step in
the line of research.
Hyland, et al (2003) wanted to carry out this research because they believed that there was gap in the
previous studies which policy makers, tobacco industries and restaurant owners cite while making
arguments that smoke regulation in hospitality industry will hurt their business and decrease revenues.
They implied that complicity and conflict of interest between the researchers and stakeholders in
hospitality industry together with tobacco industry might have influenced the research results which
lead to the conclusion that smoke free regulation in the hospitality industry will negatively impact
their sales and revenues. The authors also suggested that data collection methods

The Importance Of Blood Relations Towards Men
This paper examines the Canadian Blood Service s (CBS) current one year deferral policy towards
men who have sexual contact with other men (MSM). Homosexual or bisexual men can donate blood
and blood products only after not having any form of sexual contact with other men for one year
(Canadian Blood Services, 2016). This paper studies how this policy contributes to stigma against
MSM. This paper also aims to address this social inequity by promoting an advocacy that focus on
donors risky sexual behaviors than their sexual identities.

Consequently, MSM deferral policy discriminates against a specific group of people from donating
blood due to their sexual orientation as it prohibits those who are in general good health, thus, are fit
to donate (Diaz, 2013). Gay males may also neglect HIV testing due to fear of stigmatization (O
Bryne Watts, 2012), which further impairs their access to healthcare services and promotes health and
social inequity.
The residual risk for HIV is estimated at less than 1 in 8 million units at Canadian Blood Services
(Goldman et. al, 2014). The risk is so low that it can only be estimated after all safeguard measures
have been followed (Billick et. al, 2015). While the deferral policy puts stigma against MSM, it may
have helped lessen the risk of BT contamination and helped promote safety among blood recipients
through a precautionary approach.
This paper aims to advocate for changes regarding the CBS one year policy deferral for MSM and
CBS donor questionnaire. The CBS screening questions that identify sexual identity or orientation
should be eliminated because they create stigma against MSM or females who have sexual contact
with MSM. While HIV infection are more prevalent within the MSM community, they are not
mutually exclusive to this population and exclusion questionnaires which identify a person s sexual
orientation may be indefinite because of people s different

Mufass My Hero
Nobody ever really cared about my story. Everyone just thinks I am a brother killer, when really I
couldn t do anything to help him on that cliff. It all started when we were younger, my older brother
Mufassa always was my father s favorite. My father was trying to figure out who would be King, who
had the power and the courage, and the strength to run the desert. Well of course he chose Mufassa.
He was older, stronger, and much wiser. Now, that my father is dead, Mufassa has been king for quite
some time, and he just had a son named Simba... he was a handful. So Mufassa was stepping down as
king. It came time for Mufassa to choose who would run the desert, and I was ready to be King. On
the day Mufassa was declaring a new king, he ordered everyone to the priderock, and he announced
Simba would be King! WHAT! Simba is way too young, unintelligent, and way too weak to run the
desert I told Mufassa. I should have known, my brother always hated me and would do anything in his
power to make me leave the desert. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I left the desert and started my own life up on the edge of elephant s graveyard. After many weeks of
not seeing Simba, Mufassa, or anybody, I was down in elephant graveyard hanging out with the
hyenas telling them about how angry I was with Mufassa. I guess earlier that day, Simba and his
friend discovered this place. Let s just say, Simba wasn t supposed to ever pass my rock, but he did.
While out in the graveyard, I saw Simba, and asked him what he was doing there, and he told me to
please not tell his father. I told him the only way I am not going to say anything is if he left right then!

Gas Line Repair Fort Worth
For household s that depend on gas for heating, cooking and hot water, safe gas lines are essential. If
you are not a professional trained in gas line repair in Fort Worth, trying to work with a gas line can be
a dangerous and costly mistake.
Gas is a clean and efficient fuel that is relatively safe, but gas line leaks are extremely dangerous, and
can be deadly. The risks of a gas leak are suffocation, explosion and fire. When repair or installation is
provided they require specialized equipment to test for leaks, equipment a Benjamin Franklin licensed
plumber uses routinely.
For the homeowner, the best means to determine if you have a gas line leak is by the odor. An additive
is added to naturally odorless natural gas that is similar to rotten eggs. The scent is added to help
people identify a gas leak. If you detect the odor of gas, get everyone out of the house, and when you
are safely away from your home, and the odor of gas, call 911 and your gas provider. Once the gas has

Mirror, Courage, And The Explorer)
Life Lessons
(Literary analysis on Mirror, Courage, and Explorer) Anxiety is one of the hardest things to overcome
and face up to. People may put others down that they think are lesser than themselves, this is very true
for women in 1950s and how men looked down on them. But women finally had a chance coming out
of the Great Depression and others looking for new views to look at. Three very famous titles come
out by three different women showcases their talents and view through their writing. There is Mirror
by Sylvia Plath portraying the opinion of beauty and aging. The second title being Courage by Anne
Sexton bringing to attention the struggle every human being had overcome to become an
adult/growing up that usually goes unnoticed. Then the third title The Explorer by Gwendolyn Brooks
showing the inner voice of a people who are put in new situations. Davis said on an online article, it is
bad enough that so many women dealt with sexism for as long as they did . Women in the 1950s
struggle trying to get there message out over the men, but compared to earlier years this was the first
time they were even given a chance. Mirror, Courage, and The Explorer all display 1 message on
prevailing and finding your true self. Certainly, Mirror Challenges a woman who is aging and
realizing she is no longer the young beautiful being she once was. The women is left wondering why it
is she is old and is sad that it happened to her, when she was younger she felt invincible. The poem

Examples Of Unfaithful In Othello
Three Unlawful Acts of Love The play Othello by William Shakespeare consists of manipulation and
tragedy, a story of love that ends in demise. Othello, a great general, finds himself at odds with the
notion that his beloved wife has been unfaithful, while Desdemona is completely innocent. He loves
her so much that the idea of her adultery drives him to murder. The ensign to the general, Iago, is
behind the rumors and the turmoil. He manipulates the trust between Othello and those who are
closest to him, even so far as suggesting the method irate Othello uses to kill his wife. However,
despite Iago being the ringleader behind the conflict and crime, Othello would be charged guilty for
first degree murder, criminal conspiracy, and tampering with a witness in a court of law. Iago would
be cleared of any homicide accusations, most likely getting a minimal charge compared to Othello.
Othello committed first degree murder by killing Desdemona. First degree murder is any unlawful
killing done with intent and premeditation, of which Othello is guilty of both. When presented with
Iago s false suspicions of cuckolding, Othello almost instantly writes off his wife as guilty. Iago plants
suspicions into his mind until Othello decides he would rather kill her than deal with a reality where
she was unfaithful. When he plans to strangle instead of poison her is the first step to first degree
murder, as there is aforethought behind the deed. It is notable that Iago did not suggest

Analysis Of Dm Slides
We used Sam S. to represent cool in our advertisement. He is wearing a tank top and is the only one in
the hallway wearing the DM Slides. He could be seen as the trendsetter of the school. Sam K. notices
this in the first scene of the ad. One common fear of HPHS students is not fitting in . I believe that this
is a shared fear because people fear not having any friends and being outside of the in crowd. If people
think that what they re wearing is no longer in style and new fashion styles are being brought in, they
will likely follow these trends as a desperate attempt to assure their social status and become once
again a desirable member of society.

For example, the commons are a place where cool people eat lunch with a clean glass window making
it very easy to see who is sitting in there. So if cool people wear our slides, the insecure students
striving to be like the confident kids in the commons have something to improve on, their shoes. As a
marketing strategy it could be very beneficial towards our brand to provide DM Slides to kids sitting
in the commons for a cheaper price, or even free to promote the quantity of cool kids wearing them.
This will result in a trickle down effect that is seen throughout all clothing phases; the trendsetters set,
and everyone else consumes. Throughout my 4 years at HPHS we have observed that popularity and
the high school standard of happiness revolves around a very unique cycle. This consists of the logic
that if higher up people like you, you get to sit in the commons, and as a result, boys and especially
girls (from a boy s perspective), will notice you. This brings up the opposing philosophy that if you
are not constantly noticed you lose value/popularity. The cool kids, although may be very insecure
personally, surround themselves with other confident kids to hide their individuality. By branding our
slides to represent the newest trend of cool, students who feel they are on the cusp of being cool can
now finally get their big break. Our product s clever name evokes a mixture of emotions from our
audience. DM Slides is a play off of the term DM s which is a pop culture abbreviation for Direct
Messages, which is what you use to contact your desired lover. Slide is a new common pop culture
term used to represent going forth and messaging the person. For example, Keith slid into Ashley s
DM s last night. Indirectly, our advertisement and brand allows you to be cool , and as we ve regarded
already, cool people impress YOUR lovers. If you

What Is The Assassination Of Gandhi Unjust
Mohandas Gandhi was an influential leader for India s independence, whose acts to gain Indian rights,
led to him getting assassinated by Hindus that were against his ideas and motives. As Gandhi moved
to South Africa to study law, he experienced racism and South African laws that restricted the rights of
Indian laborers. He was removed from a first class railway compartment and thrown off of a train.
This was the moment of truth that made Gandhi decide to defend his rights as an Indian man and fight
injustice. Gandhi formed the Natal Indian Congress (NIC), which drew attention world wide to the
struggle Indians were facing in India. That was just the first of many steps Gandhi took in his fight to
gain Indian rights and independence from Great Britain. Although thousands of people supported
Gandhi s ideas and actions, certain groups of Hindus and Muslims felt differently about the whole
matter. They wanted to kill Gandhi for what he was doing; and on January 30th, 1948, Mohandas
Gandhi was assassinated by a Hindu fanatic named Nathuram Godse. The assassination of Mohandas
Gandhi was unjust, because he was a political and spiritual leader of the Indian independence
movement, who acted to gain independence from Britain; however, others disagreed with his actions

hundreds of thousands of people at the time were of the lower class. Gandhi saw the struggle Indians

The Benefits Of Less Homework
More than 70% of students said they were often or always stressed over homework (Stanford
Research). Many students are experiencing stress because of homework. When teachers give out
excessive amounts of homework it causes students to be stressed, reduces the amount of free time they
have, and it makes their practice less effective. Students receive many homework assignments from
multiple teachers everyday. The amount of homework students receive should be reduced, because it
will reduce stress, give the students free time, and help them to have more effective practice.
Excessive amounts of homework puts stress on students, and can lead to health issues. When
homework is loaded onto a student every night in each class, they can become quite overwhelmed.
When students have anxiety and stress, their schoolwork is affected negatively. Stress causes lack of
sleep, slipping grades, fatigue, unhealthy eating habits, and many more factors ( Should Students Get
Less Homework ). Approximately 80% of students don t get the recommended amount of sleep each
night. According to a 2006 poll, At least 28% of students fall asleep in class, and around 22% fall
asleep while doing homework ( Should Students Get Less Homework ). Some students talked about
being so overwhelmed with all of the work they got at school, that they became depressed. In some
cases, depression can lead to suicide. Students can have nervous breakdowns and can make homework
difficult to complete. Also, students

  • 2. The Digestive System Is A Unique Process Of The Digestive... Nutrition BIO 151 Chapter 3 Digestion Cheyenne De Jong October 8, 2017 The digestive system is a group of organs that work together. It is responsible for taking whole foods and turning them into energy and nutrients to allow the body to function, grow and repair itself. Today, I will explain how the digestive system performs this unique process. I m having a loaded tuna sandwich with lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayonnaise. The bread of my sandwich is mostly carbohydrates. Carbs are the sugars, starches and fibers found in fruits, grains, vegetables and milk products. Carbohydrates contain macronutrients that provide fuel for the Central Nervous System and energy for working muscles. The tuna in my sandwich contains mostly proteins and is also high in vitamin B12. Proteins are substances that have amino acids, compounds, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sometimes sulfur and are found in many foods. They are essential in the diet for growth and repair of tissue and can be obtained from foods such as meat, fish, eggs, milk and legumes. The lettuce contains fiber, carbs, and vitamins C and A. The tomato also has vitamin C. My cheese has protein, calcium, vitamin B12 and also fats, or lipids. The mayonnaise is mostly lipids as well. Lipid is another word for fats . They are stored in the body as energy reserves and are also important components of cell membranes. As I take my first bite, the sandwich enters my mouth. My mouth releases enzymes like amylase and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Preamble it states, We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare... During his period in office, Washington established justice, insured domestic tranquility, provided for the common defense and promoted general welfare. As stated in the Preamble that the people will establish justice, George Washington did exactly that while in office. When Washington came to office the first thing he did was put a working government in place, which would then help establish justice and overall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, George Washington provided a common defense and maintained domestic tranquility. Take the Whiskey Rebellion for example, farmers revolted against a tax passed by Congress and it did not end well. As stated in America: The History of Our Nation, Some Pennsylvania farmers who were against the tax started a violent protest. Washington sent federal troops to Pennsylvania, showing that armed rebellion would not be accepted. The reason for this rebellion was because of the tax Congress put on whiskey made and sold in the country, which is why it is called the Whiskey Rebellion. This uprising tested the will of the new government, however Washington s forceful response showed Americans that armed rebellion was not acceptable in a republic. Furthermore, when Washington left office, in his farewell address he made two major points. Firstly, he warned against political divisions, he feared that violent divisions might tear the nation apart. Secondly, he stated that the United States should not get entangled in foreign affairs. Probably because if they did interfere in foreign affairs the citizens of the United States may support different sides, which would create issues within the country that might tear it apart. These points contribute to the fact that Washington maintained domestic tranquility and provided common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today, I will inform you all of this basketball league called the National Basketball Association, or NBA for short, and I will talk about how the NBA has become a popular sports league that entertains and connects people globally. As an avid fan of the NBA for over 7 years, I have devoted many hours watching NBA games, studying the history of the NBA, and indulging myself with a plethora of NBA products such as clothes and shoes. In other words, ball is life! The NBA encompasses a structure to entertain viewers while developing a notable global impact. First, I will discuss how NBA teams are organized. Next, I will discuss the NBA season format. Finally, I will discuss 2 NBA events. The first thing I will discuss will be how NBA teams are organized. According to an article written by the NBA, there are 30 teams in the league. These 30 teams are split evenly into 2 conferences: The Western Conference and the Eastern Conference. The 2 conferences are broken down into 3 divisions with 5 teams in each one. • 5. Comparing Japanese and American Diets Essay examples Comparing Japanese and American Diets The typical diet of the average Japanese citizen is much healthier than that of an average American citizen. The Japanese diet is vastly different than the common western diet in terms of ingredients used, portion size, preparation, and relationship between its users and their food. While Americans commonly opt for unhealthy food high in calories, fat, cholesterol, and sodium, many people of Japan benefit from their healthy choice of rice, fish, vegetables, and soy products. The Japanese style of preparing and serving food is also very intricate and deliberate, which encourages diners to truly appreciate their food, instead of rushing through each meal without much thought, as done in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The health of both overweight and obese people lies in jeopardy due to the extra stress placed on the body, especially the heart, due to the high amount of excess fat they carry with themiv. Being overweight or obese increases a person s risk for diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, some types of cancer, stroke, and several other devastating ailments. The percentage of the obese population in the United States has risen from 23% to its present day rate of 30% in only eight yearsv. This skyrocketing trend is most likely related to the increase in portion sizes and calories at many American restaurants, the rising level of stress and expectation during the average workday, and the logarithmic increase in fast food restaurant options over the last 20 years. To understand how the Japanese diet supersedes the typical American diet in numerous health issues, several aspects of the diets must be evaluated. The staples of a typical Japanese diet differ dramatically from the centerpieces of the average American diet. In Japan, the main dietary staple is rice, which only has approximately 100 calories per half cup serving, a negligible amount of fat, and a very low amount of sodium. Since rice serves as the nutritional core of almost every meal, this diet offers consistency and balance to its users. Many Japanese people eat twice as much fish as red meat, and since fish is high in protein while low in saturated fat, fish is a healthier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Assembly Row Essay The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority adds a new station to the orange line for easy commute to new development project, Assembly Row. Also, an increase in fares is installed as a result of newly added later running services, which run until 2:30 am on weekends. The MBTA s newest station on the Orange Line, which offers a stop between the Wellington and Sullivan stations, began service on September 2. Assembly Station, located in the district of Somerville, is the first new T stop in 26 years. The site, which used to house a Ford motor plant, now features restaurants, office space, residential units, a 6 acre park, and an outlet mall. The Assembly Row Marketplace includes a Lego Land Discovery Center, a hotel, and outlet stores such as Saks off 5th and J.Crew Factory. The new outlet stores target customers looking for high retail labels at discount prices. The new development of Assembly Row should draw substantial populations to the area to shop, to work, or to live. The location of Assembly Station is aimed to ease the commute of those looking merely to access Assembly Row for its entertainment and shopping options. Conversely, Assembly Station assays the worries of residents of Assembly Square looking for a cost and time efficient commute into the city. I m really excited for the outlet stores and the fact that they are T accessible because shopping in Boston as we all know, tends to be on the more expensive side said shopper Maria Balderrama, 32. Though the addition of Assembly Station is beneficial to those living or traveling to Assembly Square, the traffic on the T will substantially increase as a result. The orange line, on which Assembly Station is running, already transports an average of 203,000 riders a week. • 7. Mary Anthony Research Paper Anthony s first paid position was headmistress of the girls department of Canajoharie Academy in 1846. During this time she was deeply troubled by the fact that women received much lower wages than their male counterparts for equal work. She returned to the family farm in Rochester New York when Canajoharie Academy closed in 1849. At this time she began to be fully involved in reform work. She was introduced to Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1851 who had played a key role in organizing the Seneca Falls convention in 1848, which was the first women s rights convention in the United States. The two of them formed a lifelong friendship and ever after were constant partners in the battle for women s rights and social justice. Their relationship was complimentary: Stanton did the writing and came up with ideas while Anthony excelled at organizing and delivering speeches. In response she formed the Women s State temperance Society in 1852. She often found that even in organizations supporting social reform the right of women to speak in public was often opposed. Conformity is so powerful that even after babbitt realizes the stifling nature of the society in which he lives he is powerless to change his fate as a member of conformist society. George F. Babbitt is a man who is completely controlled by the conformist society in which he lives. Pressure to conform lies in all aspects of Babbitt s life. This is what Lewis thought of American society and he used Babbitt to voice his opinions to his readers. In fact that passage was intended to be included in the original introduction of Babbitt, which was never published. Babbitt does well in conformist society because in the beginning of the novel he accepts all the standards, goals, ideals, likes, and dislikes of society. Babbitt s though mirrors all those around him and he is therefore accepted in society. At first Babbitt lives in the illusion of happiness. The happiness Babbitt experiences is not genuine because he has replaced his desires with those of society. Since Babbitt is controlled by society his goals are also controlled by it. The goals set by society are economic and material worth, social standing, and conservative thought. Since Babbitt has achieved, at least in part, these goals he is in a sense fooled into believing he is truly happy. • 11. The Banking System And Global Economy Essay The US Banking System US Banking System and Global Economy Functions and Roles of US Financial Institutions Financial institutions are the intermediaries that connect savers with borrowers, providing these parties with access to the financial markets (Cecchetti, 2015, p. 64). In their role as financial intermediaries, the functions these institutions are responsible for help the US economy operate more efficiently. They reduce both transaction and information costs within the financial system by standardizing loan products and borrower screening processes. These institutions also minimize risk for savers by pooling their resources and lending the pooled funds to many borrowers. Doing so meets the needs of savers, who can access their funds when they need them, and borrowers, who can utilize borrowed funds on the terms that best meet their needs (Cecchetti, 2015, p. 66). It would be much more difficult, and expensive, to match one saver with one borrower who agreed to the exact amount and term of a loan than it is to pool resources and let a specialized institution manage the loans. For example, imagine how difficult it would be to find one individual willing to loan you $20,000 for a period of five years at a 3% annual interest rate so you could purchase a car. Finding a suitable match for your particular needs would be incredibly difficult and expensive, but financial intermediaries are able to provide this service to borrowers and savers every day at a low cost. ... Around 4500 2500 BC, horses and donkeys were primarily used for meat and milk, mounts, draft, and waging war. They were used for traveling more than draft, since oxen were more effective with pulling and working in the fields. Overtime, the need for horses decreased in many areas that it was originally used for. Oxen were preferred in drafting, travelling by horseback was not as efficient anymore, they were poor meat animals, and more difficult to herd than sheep or cattle. These are the reasons that horses are not considered a commodity since they aren t grown for production or very useful to many. In the early 1700s, racing begins in Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland. People would bet on what horse would win the race and it was, and still is, a competitive sport. • 17. The Three Alones Of Reformation Theology Question 1. What are the three alones of Reformation theology? How do they relate to one another in Luther s theology? How does Luther s use of them respond to the dominant question of the sixteenth century: How can I know that God is favorable to me? The three alones in Reformation theology refer to that which is needed for justification or salvation favorableness in the sight of God. Luther describes them as 1) Christ, or the Gospel of Christ (Scripture), alone, 2) faith alone, and 3) grace alone. Each of these three are essentially united in Luther s theology. Christ is the most important factor in the three, because without Christ and without His Word, as recorded in Scripture, one cannot begin to have faith or hope to receive the necessary grace that comes with faith and guarantees salvation. As Luther states, One thing, and one alone, is necessary for life, justification, and Christian liberty; and that is the most holy word of God, the Gospel of Christ (Luther, p. 9). Through Christ and the preaching of His Word comes belief. If one believes, that is has faith, which implies trust and commitment, then one is justified and has found favor in God s eyes: For faith alone, and the efficacious use of the word of God, bring salvation (Luther, p. 9) Luther downplays the importance of works in the justification of man and instead emphasizes the place of faith and the grace that goes with it: For the word of God cannot be received and honoured by any works, ... In more recent times, the direction of this theory has changed. Scholars have begun to focus on how the media frame social issues through the inclusion and omission of certain attributes of particular events (Ruddock, 2013). Framing refers to the forming of narratives and concepts that deliver meaning as an event unfolds (McCombs and Shaw, 1972). Themes such as media violence, particularly in the event of a school shooting, are often used to repeatedly reinforce social norms that are deemed important by the media. As we expand our urban areas with the growing population, cities use more energy for air conditioning, water, and lighting (). Although air conditioning is powered by electricity, many urban cities rely on the combustion of coal for energy (). Combustion of coal emits CO2 and deadly gases into the atmosphere which leads to Global Warming (). Buildings in urban areas use conventional roofs as their main aesthetics. Conventional roofs are generally comprised of tar and gravel. On hot summer days, conventional rooftops can be 27 50°C hotter than the surrounding air temperature. This happens because the albedo of tar and gravel is extremely low which allows for the sun s energy to be absorbed instead of reflected (). The increased temperature leads to urban heat islands (). Increasing higher albedo surfaces on roofs will result in more reflection of solar energy away from the urban areas (). Rooftops covered in plants, also known as Green Roofs have grown popular tremendously in the last decade. Othello, a great general, finds himself at odds with the notion that his beloved wife has been unfaithful, while Desdemona is completely innocent. He loves her so much that the idea of her adultery drives him to murder. The ensign to the general, Iago, is behind the rumors and the turmoil. He manipulates the trust between Othello and those who are closest to him, even so far as suggesting the method irate Othello uses to kill his wife. However, despite Iago being the ringleader behind the conflict and crime, Othello would be charged guilty for first degree murder, criminal conspiracy, and tampering with a witness in a court of law.
