Video Games Are Not Art By Roger Ebert
Do you like art? Do you like video games? Have you ever wondered if video games can ever be
recognized at art or a portrait? The article I have broken down and analyzed was an article called
Video Games Are Not Art by Roger Ebert. He explains that videos games can never be art because it
is a disgrace tp professional artist out them to compare videos games with art that actually have
meaning behind each corner, idea, color, structure, design. For example, art is identified as the
expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as
painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional
power. Videos are meant to be played and enjoyed not analyzed and broken down as a art piece or
never will nor it be. Overall, I think the argument presented in Video games can never be art by Roger
Ebert is not partially effective on the target audience of people who believe in his opinion. As we
explore Ebert s argument s that video games can t be art, we will examine the strongest out of the
argument (Ethos), followed by the middle logos, and finally the weakest of them all would be pathos.

Cold War Proxy War Essay
Due to how many countries in Africa were used in Cold War proxy wars, an important question is,
Which of the superpowers had a larger influence on Africa? And while the U.S.A. certainly did have
significant sway in Asia, mainly Korea and Vietnam, and in the Middle East in Afghanistan, relatively,
not much was spent, both financially and in a militaristic sense, in Africa. Similarly, the U.S.S.R. was
also spending the majority of their resources in Europe and Asia.
However, when examining where Cuba stood in Africa s proxy wars, one can see that a large majority
of communist and socialist factions in Africa were given aid by Cuba. Therefore, was Cuba the most
influential power in Africa during the Cold War? Or were the U.S.S.R and U.S.A. ... Show more

MPLA troops became operatives and guerillas in Namibia, aiding in the eventual separation of
Namibia from South African control.
Additionally, in the Congo, Cuba gave support to anti capitalist and colonialist factions in the four
years Congo Civil War or Congo Crisis. During the period, Che Guevara travelled to the Congo as a
military advisor, and trained Congolese guerillas to fight against the ruling forces of Joseph Mobutu.
Smaller expeditions were sent out by Cuba. In Ethiopia, Cuba followed the Soviet Union and other
communist powers in support of the Derg government in the Ogaden War between Somalia and
Ethiopia. One thousand five hundred Cuban troops were deployed to Israel in the Yom Kippur War in
support of Arab forces.
Importantly, much of the support Cuba sent to Africa during the Cold War was humanitarian aid.
Engineers were sent to build hospitals and schools, where Cuban teachers and doctors were sent.
Roughly thirty thousand African students travelled to Cuba to study at Cuban universities. Therefore,
Cuba became seen not only as a military benefactor in Africa, but also an altruistic supporter of

The Pros And Cons Of The Scientific Revolution
I believe the Scientific Revolution was not intending to be a war on tradition and religion. The
scientists and philosophers of the scientific revolution did not set out to change the world or cause war
on tradition and religion. The scientific revolution developed gradually over a period and was
revolutionary in the sense that it transformed human thought, just as political revolutions have
changed systems of governments. The scientific revolution challenged traditional views of the world
and fostered a new way of thinking that relied on empiricism and skepticism rather than accepted,
fundamental truths, a development which changed the world forever. Due to increased emphasis
placed on experimentation and empirical knowledge during the ... Show more content on

The discovery of the natural laws caused many philosophers to rethink the nature, or even existence of
God and his role in the universe. Several philosophers claimed that the universe s laws could be
quantified mathematically. This position, which thinkers known as deist adopted in the late
seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, denied the Christian belief that God was constantly active in the
operation of the world. More directly, it rejected the possibility of miracles. Rene Descartes and others
rejected the ideas that God could intervene into the matters of man anytime he wished, because it
would upset the balance of the laws he had put in place himself and instead, it favored God more akin
to a watchmaker. In other words, Descartes and his followers believed God created all the natural laws
and all the matter in the universe. God started the universe with no planning to intervene, allowing the
universe and its constituent parts, laws and people to play themselves out. This idea did not sit well
with Early Christianity, both Catholic and protestant and angered several church authorities
throughout the seventeenth century. The Italian astronomer and champion of the telescope, Galileo
Galilei was able to gain much more support for the sun centered model of the universe. He was able to
demonstrate the plausibility of Copernicus theory with the publication of his Dialogue

The Qr Transformation Protects The Upper Hessenberg Type...
The QR transformation protects the upper Hessenberg type of the first matrix, and the workload on
such a matrix is O(n2) per cycle as restricted to O(‪
n3) on a general framework. As s tends to infinity,
the original matrix merges to a structure where the eigenvalues are either segregated on the corner to
corner or are eigenvalues of a 2 × 2 sub matrix on the diagonal. Thus, we can see that the QR
transformation reduces the complexity and the number of iterations. QR is one of the mostly used
algorithms for finding the eigenvalues of a matrix, where Q represents an orthogonal matrix and R an
upper triangular one, R comes from right. ‬

Now we consider a non singular matrix with real entries, either symmetrical or not. In essence, the QR
algorithm is based on the following property:
If A is factorized in the product A=QR, where Q is non singular, then the matrix of the product in
reverse order, A =RQ, has the same eigenvalues as A has (having similarity with A).
The invention of the QR algorithm
The QR transformation was introduced in the late 1950s by John G.F. Francis (England) [6] and by
Vera N. Kublanovskaya (USSR) [7], working separately. The QR calculation has been named as one
of the ten most critical calculations of the twentieth century. John G.F. Francis (conceived 1934) is an

The Atkins Diet
Benefits From The Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet is probably the most talked about diet regimen ever, perhaps for its controversial style
of dieting that goes against conventional dieting wisdom. Despite this reputation, more and more
people still try to follow the Atkins Diet. Notwithstanding its radical dieting methods, it is a fairly
effective dieting plan and achieves what it preaches. The Atkins Diet has its first beginnings during the
early 70 s when it was introduced by Dr. Robert Atkins. He was looking for an effective dieting
method that would help him with his own weight problem. He had tried other low calorie diets but to
no success. He seemed to have no discipline to follow strict diet regimens like low calorie diets that

That paved the way for the Atkins Diet to finally be known around the world. The Atkins Diet has
changed a little bit since it first made its way into the public arena. It is a low carbohydrate, high
protein and fat diet that is a more favorable alternative to a low calorie diet. With the Atkins Diet, one
does not have to count calorie intake. One can eat as often as he wants to and as many as he wants to
as long as he stays clear of carbohydrates and sugar. A lot of health benefits await a person about to go
on the Atkins Diet. The weight loss that happens while on the Atkins Diet may have favorable results
overall since the body has transferred from burning carbohydrates to burning fats in the body as its
primary energy source. The low carbohydrate diet also lowers the insulin production of the body and
therefore may help in preventing diseases like diabetes. The high protein intake that comes with the
Atkins diet can also reduce one s craving for food, so appetite can easily be controlled. The protein
rich as well as high fat foods that one consumes with the Atkins Diet are more satisfying and more
filling that the dieter would not have to feel that he is being starved. Those are just some of the

Commercial Loans Are Not Your Average Payday Loans
Commercial loans are not your average payday loans. People who seek commercial loans have a
business plan in mind; from rental properties like condominiums or duplexes, office expansions or
relocations, manufacturing facilities to a local sub or pizza place. Capital is needed and sometimes lots
of it! Some Commercial lending institutions include: Small Business Association (SBA) governmental
business lending. Bank of America touted to be the number one SBA (Small Business Association)
lending institution. Wachovia Personal and business financial services. Ditech Mortgage lender for
personal and business. Lending Tree Multiple loan quotes for personal and business. Before you
contact a commercial loan institution, get prepared. To acquire a commercial loan takes time (from 30
to 60 days or longer) and the better prepared prior to submission of application, the less time the
process will take. In general, the necessary paperwork needed to submit with the loan application
includes: Business profile: This document describes your business, including annual sales, number of
employees, length of time in business, and ownership. Business plan: A business plan is particularly
important for new businesses, as they lack a track record. Your plan should convey all important facts
about your business in a concise manner and should include financial projections for the first 24 to 36
months. Your local Chamber of Commerce has excellent guides to business

The Rule Of An Unfit Ruler
The Rule of an Unfit Ruler Aristotle one said, He who is to be a good ruler must have first been ruled.
The ideal ruler may vary according the individual preference of man and woman, but ultimately have
similar characteristic inclinations for the desired leader. In William Shakespeare s The Tempest, the
desire for power and leadership was a reoccurring theme throughout the play and the source of
conflict between the characters. Shakespeare designed his characters so that they had very different
personalities, with different perspectives of the ideal ruler and perfect utopia. Generally,
characteristics of the ideal ruler include attributions such as forgiveness, equality for everyone, and
freedom for the people. Prospero, the main character of the play and self proclaimed ruler of the island
in which he had been banished upon, lacked in many of the important characteristics of the ideal ruler.
His form of rule does not fit the criteria of a good leader according to the inhabitants of the island, due
to his lack of; forgiveness, equality towards everyone and freedom for his subjects. Forgiveness is an
essential characteristic to possess for the ideal ruler because it allows the leader to set a good example
to his or her subjects and allows for them to pardon the many mistakes or inappropriate behaviour that
may occur. Prospero was a very vengeful individual who lacked in forgiveness for others. After 12
years spent on the island, Prospero had not forgotten how his

This profoundly moving, first hand account of Slavery during the 19th century, gives the reader
invaluable and in depth insight into the horrifying treatment of African Americans slaves and
completely unveils the true ugliness that will permanently mark the country s beginnings. Written by
Harriet Jacobs under the pseudonym Linda Brent, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl depicts how it
was to grow up somebody else s property as a female slave, as well as, her grueling fight to liberate
herself and her children.

The North did not particularly care about the injustices or cruelties associated with the institution of
slavery in the states it was already established in. They did greatly care about it spreading to new
western states though, as it would in turn strengthen the South s overall power. If allowed to expand,
slavery would threaten the livelihood of the average white American. The South in turn feared that
Abraham Lincoln, a member of the National Union party, getting elected meant that no new state
would be allowed to become slave states. As a result, the South s power in congress would slip, which
would allow abolitionists to come in and abolish slavery completely. Even with a whole war that had
slavery at its core, the real issue of slavery was its effects on White Americans not the

Corporals In The Marine Corps
The United States Marine Corps holds its Non commissioned Officers, or NCOs, to a higher standard
than any other service. In the Marine Corps an E 4 in the Marine Corps can be a collateral duty
Inspector. Corporals in the Marine Corps can be trusted to verify that a part is ready for issue to be
installed in multimillion dollar war assets, such as the F 18 or EV 8B where the safety of the pilots and
those on the ground are in the hands of the Corporal collateral duty inspector. We Marines see the title
of NCO as a sacred title. The amount of responsibility that is given to the rank of Corporal can be

Plate Tectonic Analysis
The plate tectonic theory states that rigid plates slowly ride on the molten mantle. The boundaries
between the plates are known to serve as an important mineral resource. Three types of tectonic plate
exist: convergent, divergent and transform boundaries. A convergent boundary represents two plates
moving towards each other mostly forming a subduction. When two plates move away from each
other, a divergent boundary is formed. In transform boundaries, the plates move laterally past each
other (Mission, 2016).
Within the mid ocean ridges forming a divergent boundary, a zone of low pressure is formed allowing
magma to rise to the surface. Potentially valuable metals are present in the hot magma. The valuable
deposits are further concentrated by leaching of metals from water permeating the rocks (Mission,
2016). The water circulating through the rocks is heated by the magma forming hydrothermal fluids.
The hot hydrothermal fluids form black smokers covering the sea floor and are rich in sulfur
containing minerals, for instance, galena, a lead sulfide, and pyrite, an iron sulfide (Mission, 2016). ...

The volcanoes heat up water percolating through the rocks and the dissolved minerals are carried to
surrounding rocks. This kind of deposit represents the majority of world s copper supply (Mission,
2016). Mineral veins and pegmatite are formed once the magma cools. An example of a mineral vein
is the Mother Lode of the Sierra Nevada containing gold deposits. Once volcanic mountains from
subduction erode, portions of silver, gold or other metals may flow into streams and their
accumulation forms placer deposits. Other resources are the Ophiolites, a rich source of chromium
which is formed from portions of oceanic crust emplaced on continents after subduction events

We Need For Food Security For The Rising Global Population...
Farming technologies and strategies have evolved over thousands of years and have adapted to new
crops, environments, and needs. The need for food security for the rising global population calls for
new technologies that promise higher and healthier yields. Currently, photonic and optical
technologies help to make soils stronger, food safer to consume, and grapes sweeter. Imaging sensors
and lasers mounted on aircraft, lidar, fluorescence spectroscopy, and energy efficient LEDs are some
of the newest farming and food processing technologies that promise to revolutionize the industry
(Chan 112). Photonics technologies can predict the level of proteins in wheat harvests, map the quality
of water for the safety of fish stocks, and screen for any contaminants in tomatoes, spinach, and other
foods. A wide range of optical sensors are applied in agriculture; they range from sensors that analyze
soil attributes to those installed in combination to ascertain protein content in grains when they are
harvested. In essence, photonics technologies are assisting farmers, food processors, and famine prone
areas of the world to attain food security.
The health of soils
Currently, infrared sensing technologies have taken a pivotal role in the agricultural sector. The
infrared sensors are being used to monitor specific agricultural areas by way of determining the health
of soil within the area, its nutrient contents well as its hydrology. The techniques which determine the

A Compartment Of Tendon Progenitors
A Somitic Compartment of Tendon Progenitors Summary
Tendons are some of the most important tissues in the body of any organism, transferring the power
created by the muscles to the bones and allowing coordinated body movements to occur. However,
until recently there was very little known about the origin of this tissue and most of the research
performed focused on the limbs and the tendons associated with them. Along with the limited amount
of research seemingly none of it was focused on the axial and ventrolateral body wall tendons. It was
not until the discovery of Scleraxis (Scx), a bHLH transcription factor found in progenitor cells and
mature tendons, that tendons could be observed through the embryonic stages (Schweitzer et al. ...

Upon confirming that axial and intercostal tendons originated from the somites, the researchers
wanted to determine if the other somitic compartments affected the syndetome fate. Double whole
mount in situ hybridization was used to compare Scx in progenitor cells, Pax1 in sclerotome, and
MyoD in myotome. Scx expression was restricted to the anterior and posterior borders while MyoD
expression was present in the center of the myotome with no overlap of the two markers. When Scx
was compared to Pax1 it appeared that they existed in the same region; however, Pax1 was expressed
more ventromedial and Scx was closer to the myotome, these markers did not have any overlap either.
Additionally, Scx expression occurred much later in development compared to MyoD and Pax1(Kiefer
and Hauschka, 2001; Stockdale et al., 2000). It showed that the Scx expression progenitor cells had a
distinct fate producing a separate compartment of tendon progenitor cells, which did not overlap with
the adjacent tissues.
To establish the origin of the syndetome a fate map was created using a chick quail chimera where two
successive sclerotomes or dermomyotomes were transplanted from a quail to a chick embryo.
Utilizing in situ hybridization to visualize Scx expression and QCPN to identify quail cells,
sclerotome and Scx expressing tendon

to the detriment of our economy and society (3). In his essay The Transformation of the American

The Value and Leadership Skills in Healthcare
The value and leadership skills in healthcare are both very professions are vital skills that are needed
to provide everyday care (Graber, 2008). This literature review will explore the important values and
leadership in health care. The review will provide the understandings of both topics. The term value
can be determined by a person s standards and principles (Gaudine Beaton, 2002). According to
Grojean, Resick Diskson (2004) leadership, is an actual way to improve patient`s. A good leader is
said to reveal certain roles and behaviors that influence others in the way of positive change and
direction. Viinamäki, (2009) back these same ideas but also have confidence in that there is a
difference between value and leadership. They believe that leaders are viewed as individuals who can
connect through motivation, visions, and inspire positive directions to generate company and
organizational change. Graber (2008) impression of leadership can be understood as the capability of
one person to impact the behaviors and actions of other people.
Grojean, Resick Diskson (2004) suggest that leaders are responsible for facilitating their follower s to
become capable and guide them to improving their capabilities and strengths. Differentiating between
different leadership styles can be done in a number of ways. It was determined that the traditional
styles of leaders include authoritian (autocratic), democratic, permissive (laissez faire) and
bureaucratic (Viinamäki, 2009).

Homestead Act Essays
I THESIS STATEMENT
The Homestead Act of 1862 made surveyed lands obtainable to homesteaders. The act stated that men
and women over the age of 21, unmarried women who were head of households and married men
under the age of 21, who did not own over 160 acres of land anywhere, were citizens or intended on
becoming citizens of the United States, were eligible to homestead. This paper will show how the
Homestead Act came to be enacted, who the homesteaders were and the effects of the Homestead Act
on the pioneers.

Others were concerned that factories in the East would lose their supply of cheap labor if workers
were lured westward by the availability of small blocks of land at low prices. Congressmen from the
West argued that settlers were performing a patriotic service when they tamed the wilderness and
advanced the frontier.
For decades, the halls of Congress echoed with debates about the minimal price at which land should
be sold and the minimal acreage that a buyer should be required to purchase. Gradually, Congress
decreased the minimum unit from 640 acres in 1785 to 320 acres in 1800, 160 acres in 1804, 80 acres
in 1820, and 40 acres from 1832 until 1862, when the Homestead Act gave 160 acres free to anyone
who would live on the land and cultivate it for five years.
III PASSAGE OF THE HOMESTEAD ACT
The Pre emption Act of 1841 legitimized squatting by letting farmers claim unsurveyed plots and later
buy them from the government. Pre emption became the national policy, but supporting legislation
was blocked. Senator Andrew Johnson of Tennessee took up the cause in 1840. Southerners opposed
Johnson s land giveaway as benefiting working class whites who were unlikely to vote slavery into the
new states. Three times the House of Representatives

Kant believes that the CI is moral principle that is in fact objective. This system gives people
autonomy which is the ability to make decisions. You have the choice of following the laws morally or

should respect all humans. There can no set price on a certain or any human being. No matter what

Charlie s parent wanting or even deciding to do this procedure is a choice of immortality. The parents

They are just valuing the service he or she will provide for them. The procedure would allow Charlie s
parents to have a child that would be most able to donate blood making cells to Charlie. This would
probably save Charlie s life. There is no dignity here, therefore the parents are acting immorally. The
parents should treat that soon to be child as a person with dignity. Not just having the child as pleasure
of saving another child s life. They are treating it as an instrument. Charlie s parents should recognize

The Life Of Prophet Muhammad
Amine Lehachi
Islamic History 1100
Mrs. Jorati
September 20th, 2015 The Life of Prophet Muhammad
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH Peace be upon him) is the messenger of God in Islam. He was born
in the city of Makkah (Mecca) in the Arabian Peninsula around 570 CE. Many historians believe he
became an orphan at a very early age. The Arabian Peninsula at the time had no law or order; people
were described as savages for their ill customs and traditions. People of Arabia worshipped idols and
ancient Arabian religions; some were also Christian and Jewish. When it came to religion people were
divided in the region, people were divided into tribes and had different sets of beliefs. Prophet
Muhammad set to change this, he wanted to unify the region and establish an independent nation.
Before he started his Prophecy he married an older woman, a widow named Khadijah, for whom he
had worked for in the caravan trade. When he was a merchant, he was known as al Amin, the trusted
one. When Prophet Muhammad was forty years old, he had a profound experience that really changed
his life. In this essay I will evaluate the significant events of his career starting with The First
revelation; The migration to Medina and lastly the great Battle of Badr. These significant events play
an important role on how the foundation of a newly reformed monotheistic religion called Islam came
to be.
A significant event that really changed the course of his life was when Prophet Muhammad was 40
years old.

person or business behaves differently when insulated from a certain risk. Moral hazard theory states
that when a person or business is insured against the consequences of a particular event, this increases
incentive for the insured to behave in a way that will cause the event (Glassman, 2009). The current
government bailout of General Motors and Chrysler provides a vivid demonstration of moral hazard.
In order to prevent bankruptcy, the Canadian government bought stakes in both companies totalling 14
billion dollars (Watson, 2009). Chrysler is now owned by Fiat while GM has appointed several
Canadian government officials as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The package also includes special license plates that allow Volt owners to drive in transit lanes.
McGuinty claimed that this package will encourage Canadians to buy greener vehicles. However, the
Ford Fusion, Honda Insight and Toyota Prius, none of which come with a subsidy package, are all
more fuel efficient, and therefore greener , than the Volt (Morgan, 2009). There is no reason for GM to
improve the Volt s design or fuel efficiency because the stimulus package alone gives them a
competitive advantage. This is a blatant attempt at policy changing in order to promote a company in
which the government has stakes. A moral hazard exists in this case not only when these companies
are facing bankruptcy, but also for during product development and promotion.
Overall, the Canadian government s bailout of these automobile manufacturers was a mistake. Not
only is it illogical to financially reward a company that reacted poorly to economic uncertainty, it also
creates an immense moral hazard. Since the rescue package has done very little to protect Canadian
jobs and goes against public and expert opinions, it only seems to be benefitting the executives that
created a need for the bailout in the first place. As a result, automobile manufacturers as well as other
corporations will begin to believe that no matter how many bad

Persuasive Essay On The Importance Of Identity In Society
Priveledged individuals ought not appropriate the culture of a marginalized group. In other words,
people shouldn t dress up or adorn themselves with clothing or objects that belong to another culture
(or in a way that is offensive). This halloween, many parents were cautious about letting their child
dress up as Polynesian Disney princess, because they were unsure of what others would say. Is it
appropriate for a white child to dress up as a Polynesian princess? I would say no. It gives people from
other cultures the impression that you think of them as costumes, and not people. Some important
topicality would be the words:
Appropriate: To take something for their own use
Marginalized: To prevent something from having attention or power.
Privileged: Enjoying special advantages, available only to a select group.
My value, Dignity. It is inappropriate for someone who isn t Polynesian to dress up as a princess from
that race, or any race that they do not belong to. It could be percieved the wrong way, even if the
wearer isn t intentionally deriding those of another race. It shows that we think of that race as just
costumes, and aren t really looking into the deeper culture, as well as the spiritual meaning of their
practices or adornments. My criterion is Deontology. I believe that people that are free and rational
beings should also be able to go about their lives without feeling ridiculed by other races in a manner
that makes them feel uncomfortable, or causes them any reason to feel as if they are being made fun
of.
People from other cultures are getting mocked, and ridiculed as if they are less than a person. Sachi
Feris, a blogger that was mentioned in an article in Opposing Views says, I don t like the idea of
dressing someone up as someone with another culture, because it s like we re laughing at her culture
by making it a costume. This causes reason for fights in racially tense times, which is something none
of us need, and doesn t benefit us in the process. If we refrain from selling offensive costumes that
would cause conflict between other cultures and ourselves, we would avoid conflict that would cause
unsavory relationships with them. If there is a grey area, it is best to just stay out

The Top Competitors Of Drucker And Falk
Zakch, M. H. (1999) says that always building on the latest knowledge, rather than reinventing the
wheel gives competitors a chance to catch up. This is especially true when a firm is trying to get an
advantage over the competition. Knowledge is certainly power, and the more knowledge that a firm
has, the more they are able to bring to the table. Not only do the customers put more trust into them
for the knowledge that they possess, but the confidence of the firm truly blossoms as well. Drucker
and Falk is especially receptive to this belief. They use knowledge as a lead and an advantage over the
heavily populated competition of property management companies in the surrounding areas. The top
competitors of Drucker and Falk include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pectin Concentration Graph
Graph one demonstrates pectin concentration s effect on gel strength. In theory an increased amount of
pectin would lead to a higher gel strength because there would be more chains of polysaccharides to
link together and form a gel. The more pectin chains, the more cross links occur, trapping more water
and creating a firmer gel. Overall this graph does show that a higher pectin concentration will yield a
stronger gel. The use of .46% pectin was used as a control to test other factors, so it is expected that
there would be a variety of gel strengths for that specific concentration. However, looking at the other
points there is a clear trend that as the percent pectin increased, so did the gel strength. Graph two
demonstrates how differing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With just gel strength data, it would be impossible to determine how much sugar was in the jelly or
what the pH of the jelly was. This would only be possible if there was only one combination of pectin,
sugar, and pH that would form a jelly. Therefore, even though a jelly forms, one still has to measure
the sugar content and pH in order to know about the jelly. One could also use that information to
predict what the gel strength should be, and if it is different than the person who made the jelly would
know something else went wrong. Overall, the three variables work together in a range of values that

Becoming an Individual in Rewriting the Soul by Ian...
In a planet consisting of over six billion humans, finding individuality in oneself becomes an arduous
task. There exists in man the desire to be recognized by others as an individual with specifically
positive qualities. Therefore, based on the labels assigned to him, he creates his desired persona. This
concept is exemplified in Rewriting the Soul by Ian Hacking through his theory of the looping effect,
which portrays a cycle of mutual changes based on the influence of classifications and those
classified. Humans are given labels and thus act appropriately to either maintain the favorable labels
or diminish those which appear negative. This creates a fabrication based on the influence of others
rather than a true self. The mimicry of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Hacking dives into the history of multiple personality disorder he brings up a certain concept to
justify the transition from the 19th century version of the disorder to modern day s picture. This
concept he names the looping effect of human kinds (21), which is explained with the MPD example
being that the doctors vision was different because the patients were different; but the patients were
different because the doctors expectations were different (21). The doctors influence the patients only
to be later influenced in return by the patients thus there will never be a concrete definition of MPD
nor will there be a fixed prototype of the disorder as both are being constantly mutually altered.
Consequently, a diagnosed MPD possessor will never truly know whether or not they have the
disorder since MPD has no locked definition. In like manner, the looping effect affects all persons as
their identities are continually being modified from external influences whether they chose to be or
not. In the case of consciously changing themselves, people are specifically labeled and are assigned
certain qualities of which they either view as pleasant or insulting. As a result, these people choose to
modify themselves in the attempt of creating a new self that embodies the favored qualities and
eliminates the unattractive qualities. This new self is nothing more than a mimic of surrounding
influences, which present

Writing Challenges In Overcoming A Fear Of Writing
You want a question that brings the reader inside! You want a question to excite the readers, and pull
them inwards, so they can connect to the story when you re writing! When you are writing, you must
pull the reader in! They must know what s next!
However big or small, everyone has experienced challenges in life. A long time ago, a friend of mine
once told me that to overcome a challenge; you need to embrace the problem instead of rejecting it.
Now I realize what she was trying to say. When you have a problem, don t run away from it, because
then you will never learn how to rise above it. This is especially true in overcoming a fear of writing.
Overcoming a fear of writing is hard if it starts in kindergarten. I had the most beautiful handwriting in
class. I had received many complements from my teachers for the writing workbook assignments. But
I really never liked to write. I did not like writing at all! I had tried by best to be happy but it did not
work well. When I wrote, I thought moodily, this is boring. When I wrote, I felt angry because I
couldn t spell all the words right. I did not know what to say or write down, and this caused me more
frustration. After writing, my hands would feel tired. There was no happiness in writing for me, so
decided to just give up.
Whenever I was forced to write for my portfolios by hand, I would always complain, trying to wiggle
myself out of it. I would do preposterous things: I would whine, be very angry, frustrated,

The Creation Of The Solar System And The Solar System
To many, it is basic knowledge that the Earth revolves around the sun, which means that the solar
system is heliocentric. However, the solar system was previously believed to be geocentric, with Earth
being considered the center of the universe and the solar system. Aristotle, a dominant force in the
early days of science and philosophy, was one of the first to propose the idea that the Earth was
positioned at the center of the universe. Ptolemy, an Egyptian mathematician, and astronomer, agreed,
and expanded on this geocentric model. Although the Aristolean Ptolemaic model had the support of
the Christian and Catholic churches, Nicholas Copernicus, however reluctantly, put forward the idea
that the solar system and the universe, were heliocentric. Though completely opposed by Christian
and Catholic churches, the heliocentric model prevailed with the additional discoveries made on
Italian philosopher and scientist Galileo Galilee and German astronomer Johannes Kepler.
Aristotle (384 322 B.C.) was one of the most famous and influential Greek philosophers of his time.
He was born in Macedonia in 384 BC and was responsible for setting up a school in Athens called the
Lyceum, which was one of the most famous learning centers at the time. Prior to that however, he was
a former student of Plato and a former instructor of Alexander the Great. It was easy to say that he was
a man fascinated by many things, including zoology, astronomy, history, politics. Regarding
astronomy,

Antony And Cleopatra Relationship Essay
The relationship between Antony and Cleopatra is something we can only speculate about after
analysing the writings from ancient history. The main written accounts of the couple come primarily
from Roman writers, therefore are largely based on the cultural, political and possibly personal beliefs
of the individuals who wrote them.
An important similarity between the two passages would be that both were originally written in the
early part of the second century CE, more than 150 years after the events took place (Fear, 2008, p. 9).
This highlights the fact that we cannot take the information in these passages as true historical fact but
rather the opinion of two Roman citizens whose preconceptions of Antony and Cleopatra have been

by saying that Antony is living a life of royal luxury and pampers himself like a woman.
In Plutarch s extract, the fault seems to lie upon Antony and his own moral failings. It shows his
weakness in how he reacted to the emotional blackmail and manipulation by Cleopatra. If we take a
closer look at Reading 1.1, it poses very sexist views of women. Much more emphasis is put on stating
that a woman had done this to Antony and that he has been enslaved by her , taking away his control
in the situation.
In the end, both extracts show that toxic relationship of Antony and Cleopatra was the downfall of
their political careers and ultimately cost them both their lives. By studying these historical texts, we
see an example of how our own opinions and ideas play a part in how the reputations of people in
history are created. Undoubtedly the account of Cleopatra and Antony will continue to evolve over
time.
At first glance, these two paintings seem very different to look at. It s clear that they are of the same
genre of still life however the composition, colour range and possible meanings behind the artwork
themselves, greatly differ.
One of the most important differences would be the tonal range used in the two paintings. If we look
at the Moillon painting, the tone appears quite wide, going drastically from dark to light as we see in
the very dark background to the very light table top and oranges. This contrasts with Cézanne s work,
as he

Early Life Stages Of Aging Essay
Aging is a biological process by gradual deterioration of the physiological functions and metabolic
processes. (Hilaire Bakala et al 2012) Exposure to stressful situations during early life can have
intense health consequences and is impaired throughout life. However some cases of this impact do
not become evident until much later in life or decades later, when the individuals begin to show signs
of accelerated ageing. (Katherine A. et al 2014). While understanding the relationship between early
life and longevity has important implications in the field of aging, we have still little information
about the mechanisms involved in the prolonged times scales of stress aging. A stress can stimulate
various pathways leading to increased production of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) it is well
known that are highly reactive and capable of damaged many biological macro molecules such as
DNA, RNA, Proteins, and Lipids (Govinda Rao 1989; Tian et al 1998). The accumulation of oxidative
damaged molecules may cause genetic mutation and cellular senescence (Tian et al 1998). Several
data indicates that mitochondria are mostly affected organelles during aging. ... Show more content on

Spread Of American Culture Essay
The world today is continuing to evolve on a daily basis, and that is one thing we can count on it

The word Hellenism refers to the spread of Greek culture after the conquest of Alexander the Great in

new research. Dissection gained popularity and importance during the Renaissance, which led to body
snatching becoming common; both of these activities gave way to new advancements. Dissection of
human bodies became popular during the Renaissance time as people started to redraw and disprove

used for dissection. In fact, King Henry showed his support for the use of executed felons bodies when
he . . . authorized a law in 1540 giving surgeons the bodies of four hanged criminals a year ( Crime

  • 2. Video Games Are Not Art By Roger Ebert Do you like art? Do you like video games? Have you ever wondered if video games can ever be recognized at art or a portrait? The article I have broken down and analyzed was an article called Video Games Are Not Art by Roger Ebert. He explains that videos games can never be art because it is a disgrace tp professional artist out them to compare videos games with art that actually have meaning behind each corner, idea, color, structure, design. For example, art is identified as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Videos are meant to be played and enjoyed not analyzed and broken down as a art piece or never will nor it be. Overall, I think the argument presented in Video games can never be art by Roger Ebert is not partially effective on the target audience of people who believe in his opinion. As we explore Ebert s argument s that video games can t be art, we will examine the strongest out of the argument (Ethos), followed by the middle logos, and finally the weakest of them all would be pathos. • 3. Cold War Proxy War Essay Due to how many countries in Africa were used in Cold War proxy wars, an important question is, Which of the superpowers had a larger influence on Africa? And while the U.S.A. certainly did have significant sway in Asia, mainly Korea and Vietnam, and in the Middle East in Afghanistan, relatively, not much was spent, both financially and in a militaristic sense, in Africa. Similarly, the U.S.S.R. was also spending the majority of their resources in Europe and Asia. However, when examining where Cuba stood in Africa s proxy wars, one can see that a large majority of communist and socialist factions in Africa were given aid by Cuba. Therefore, was Cuba the most influential power in Africa during the Cold War? Or were the U.S.S.R and U.S.A. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... MPLA troops became operatives and guerillas in Namibia, aiding in the eventual separation of Namibia from South African control. Additionally, in the Congo, Cuba gave support to anti capitalist and colonialist factions in the four years Congo Civil War or Congo Crisis. During the period, Che Guevara travelled to the Congo as a military advisor, and trained Congolese guerillas to fight against the ruling forces of Joseph Mobutu. Smaller expeditions were sent out by Cuba. In Ethiopia, Cuba followed the Soviet Union and other communist powers in support of the Derg government in the Ogaden War between Somalia and Ethiopia. One thousand five hundred Cuban troops were deployed to Israel in the Yom Kippur War in support of Arab forces. Importantly, much of the support Cuba sent to Africa during the Cold War was humanitarian aid. Engineers were sent to build hospitals and schools, where Cuban teachers and doctors were sent. Roughly thirty thousand African students travelled to Cuba to study at Cuban universities. • 4. The Pros And Cons Of The Scientific Revolution I believe the Scientific Revolution was not intending to be a war on tradition and religion. The scientists and philosophers of the scientific revolution did not set out to change the world or cause war on tradition and religion. The scientific revolution developed gradually over a period and was revolutionary in the sense that it transformed human thought, just as political revolutions have changed systems of governments. The scientific revolution challenged traditional views of the world and fostered a new way of thinking that relied on empiricism and skepticism rather than accepted, fundamental truths, a development which changed the world forever. Due to increased emphasis placed on experimentation and empirical knowledge during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The discovery of the natural laws caused many philosophers to rethink the nature, or even existence of God and his role in the universe. Several philosophers claimed that the universe s laws could be quantified mathematically. This position, which thinkers known as deist adopted in the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, denied the Christian belief that God was constantly active in the operation of the world. More directly, it rejected the possibility of miracles. Rene Descartes and others rejected the ideas that God could intervene into the matters of man anytime he wished, because it would upset the balance of the laws he had put in place himself and instead, it favored God more akin to a watchmaker. In other words, Descartes and his followers believed God created all the natural laws and all the matter in the universe. God started the universe with no planning to intervene, allowing the universe and its constituent parts, laws and people to play themselves out. This idea did not sit well with Early Christianity, both Catholic and protestant and angered several church authorities throughout the seventeenth century. The Italian astronomer and champion of the telescope, Galileo Galilei was able to gain much more support for the sun centered model of the universe. He was able to demonstrate the plausibility of Copernicus theory with the publication of his Dialogue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Qr Transformation Protects The Upper Hessenberg Type... The QR transformation protects the upper Hessenberg type of the first matrix, and the workload on such a matrix is O(n2) per cycle as restricted to O(‪ n3) on a general framework. As s tends to infinity, the original matrix merges to a structure where the eigenvalues are either segregated on the corner to corner or are eigenvalues of a 2 × 2 sub matrix on the diagonal. Thus, we can see that the QR transformation reduces the complexity and the number of iterations. QR is one of the mostly used algorithms for finding the eigenvalues of a matrix, where Q represents an orthogonal matrix and R an upper triangular one, R comes from right. ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ ‬ Now we consider a non singular matrix with real entries, either symmetrical or not. In essence, the QR algorithm is based on the following property: If A is factorized in the product A=QR, where Q is non singular, then the matrix of the product in reverse order, A =RQ, has the same eigenvalues as A has (having similarity with A). The invention of the QR algorithm The QR transformation was introduced in the late 1950s by John G.F. Francis (England) [6] and by Vera N. Kublanovskaya (USSR) [7], working separately. The QR calculation has been named as one of the ten most critical calculations of the twentieth century. John G.F. Francis (conceived 1934) is an English PC researcher. In 1954 he worked for the National Research Development. In 1955 1956 he went to Cambridge University, yet did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Atkins Diet Benefits From The Atkins Diet The Atkins Diet is probably the most talked about diet regimen ever, perhaps for its controversial style of dieting that goes against conventional dieting wisdom. Despite this reputation, more and more people still try to follow the Atkins Diet. Notwithstanding its radical dieting methods, it is a fairly effective dieting plan and achieves what it preaches. The Atkins Diet has its first beginnings during the early 70 s when it was introduced by Dr. Robert Atkins. He was looking for an effective dieting method that would help him with his own weight problem. He had tried other low calorie diets but to no success. • 8. The Rule Of An Unfit Ruler The Rule of an Unfit Ruler Aristotle one said, He who is to be a good ruler must have first been ruled. The ideal ruler may vary according the individual preference of man and woman, but ultimately have similar characteristic inclinations for the desired leader. In William Shakespeare s The Tempest, the desire for power and leadership was a reoccurring theme throughout the play and the source of conflict between the characters. Shakespeare designed his characters so that they had very different personalities, with different perspectives of the ideal ruler and perfect utopia. Generally, characteristics of the ideal ruler include attributions such as forgiveness, equality for everyone, and freedom for the people. Prospero, the main character of the play and self proclaimed ruler of the island in which he had been banished upon, lacked in many of the important characteristics of the ideal ruler. His form of rule does not fit the criteria of a good leader according to the inhabitants of the island, due to his lack of; forgiveness, equality towards everyone and freedom for his subjects. Forgiveness is an essential characteristic to possess for the ideal ruler because it allows the leader to set a good example to his or her subjects and allows for them to pardon the many mistakes or inappropriate behaviour that may occur. A Slave Girl This profoundly moving, first hand account of Slavery during the 19th century, gives the reader invaluable and in depth insight into the horrifying treatment of African Americans slaves and completely unveils the true ugliness that will permanently mark the country s beginnings. Written by Harriet Jacobs under the pseudonym Linda Brent, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl depicts how it was to grow up somebody else s property as a female slave, as well as, her grueling fight to liberate herself and her children. The North did not particularly care about the injustices or cruelties associated with the institution of slavery in the states it was already established in. They did greatly care about it spreading to new western states though, as it would in turn strengthen the South s overall power. If allowed to expand, slavery would threaten the livelihood of the average white American. The South in turn feared that Abraham Lincoln, a member of the National Union party, getting elected meant that no new state would be allowed to become slave states. As a result, the South s power in congress would slip, which would allow abolitionists to come in and abolish slavery completely. • 11. Plate Tectonic Analysis The plate tectonic theory states that rigid plates slowly ride on the molten mantle. The boundaries between the plates are known to serve as an important mineral resource. Three types of tectonic plate exist: convergent, divergent and transform boundaries. A convergent boundary represents two plates moving towards each other mostly forming a subduction. When two plates move away from each other, a divergent boundary is formed. In transform boundaries, the plates move laterally past each other (Mission, 2016). Within the mid ocean ridges forming a divergent boundary, a zone of low pressure is formed allowing magma to rise to the surface. Potentially valuable metals are present in the hot magma. The valuable deposits are further concentrated by leaching of metals from water permeating the rocks (Mission, 2016). The water circulating through the rocks is heated by the magma forming hydrothermal fluids. The hot hydrothermal fluids form black smokers covering the sea floor and are rich in sulfur containing minerals, for instance, galena, a lead sulfide, and pyrite, an iron sulfide (Mission, 2016). ... Once volcanic mountains from subduction erode, portions of silver, gold or other metals may flow into streams and their accumulation forms placer deposits. • 12. We Need For Food Security For The Rising Global Population... Farming technologies and strategies have evolved over thousands of years and have adapted to new crops, environments, and needs. The need for food security for the rising global population calls for new technologies that promise higher and healthier yields. Currently, photonic and optical technologies help to make soils stronger, food safer to consume, and grapes sweeter. Imaging sensors and lasers mounted on aircraft, lidar, fluorescence spectroscopy, and energy efficient LEDs are some of the newest farming and food processing technologies that promise to revolutionize the industry (Chan 112). Photonics technologies can predict the level of proteins in wheat harvests, map the quality of water for the safety of fish stocks, and screen for any contaminants in tomatoes, spinach, and other foods. A wide range of optical sensors are applied in agriculture; they range from sensors that analyze soil attributes to those installed in combination to ascertain protein content in grains when they are harvested. In essence, photonics technologies are assisting farmers, food processors, and famine prone areas of the world to attain food security. The health of soils Currently, infrared sensing technologies have taken a pivotal role in the agricultural sector. The infrared sensors are being used to monitor specific agricultural areas by way of determining the health of soil within the area, its nutrient contents well as its hydrology. • 13. A Compartment Of Tendon Progenitors A Somitic Compartment of Tendon Progenitors Summary Tendons are some of the most important tissues in the body of any organism, transferring the power created by the muscles to the bones and allowing coordinated body movements to occur. However, until recently there was very little known about the origin of this tissue and most of the research performed focused on the limbs and the tendons associated with them. Along with the limited amount of research seemingly none of it was focused on the axial and ventrolateral body wall tendons. It was not until the discovery of Scleraxis (Scx), a bHLH transcription factor found in progenitor cells and mature tendons, that tendons could be observed through the embryonic stages (Schweitzer et al. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon confirming that axial and intercostal tendons originated from the somites, the researchers wanted to determine if the other somitic compartments affected the syndetome fate. Double whole mount in situ hybridization was used to compare Scx in progenitor cells, Pax1 in sclerotome, and MyoD in myotome. Scx expression was restricted to the anterior and posterior borders while MyoD expression was present in the center of the myotome with no overlap of the two markers. When Scx was compared to Pax1 it appeared that they existed in the same region; however, Pax1 was expressed more ventromedial and Scx was closer to the myotome, these markers did not have any overlap either. Additionally, Scx expression occurred much later in development compared to MyoD and Pax1(Kiefer and Hauschka, 2001; Stockdale et al., 2000). It showed that the Scx expression progenitor cells had a distinct fate producing a separate compartment of tendon progenitor cells, which did not overlap with the adjacent tissues. To establish the origin of the syndetome a fate map was created using a chick quail chimera where two successive sclerotomes or dermomyotomes were transplanted from a quail to a chick embryo. This literature review will explore the important values and leadership in health care. The review will provide the understandings of both topics. He was born in the city of Makkah (Mecca) in the Arabian Peninsula around 570 CE. Many historians believe he became an orphan at a very early age. The Arabian Peninsula at the time had no law or order; people were described as savages for their ill customs and traditions. People of Arabia worshipped idols and ancient Arabian religions; some were also Christian and Jewish. When it came to religion people were divided in the region, people were divided into tribes and had different sets of beliefs. Prophet Muhammad set to change this, he wanted to unify the region and establish an independent nation. Before he started his Prophecy he married an older woman, a widow named Khadijah, for whom he had worked for in the caravan trade. When he was a merchant, he was known as al Amin, the trusted one. Automobile Industry Auto Industry 2009 An important issue regarding business ethics is the theory of moral hazard which occurs when a person or business behaves differently when insulated from a certain risk. Moral hazard theory states that when a person or business is insured against the consequences of a particular event, this increases incentive for the insured to behave in a way that will cause the event (Glassman, 2009). The current government bailout of General Motors and Chrysler provides a vivid demonstration of moral hazard. However, the Ford Fusion, Honda Insight and Toyota Prius, none of which come with a subsidy package, are all more fuel efficient, and therefore greener , than the Volt (Morgan, 2009). There is no reason for GM to improve the Volt s design or fuel efficiency because the stimulus package alone gives them a competitive advantage. This is a blatant attempt at policy changing in order to promote a company in which the government has stakes. A moral hazard exists in this case not only when these companies are facing bankruptcy, but also for during product development and promotion. Overall, the Canadian government s bailout of these automobile manufacturers was a mistake. Not only is it illogical to financially reward a company that reacted poorly to economic uncertainty, it also creates an immense moral hazard. Since the rescue package has done very little to protect Canadian jobs and goes against public and expert opinions, it only seems to be benefitting the executives that created a need for the bailout in the first place. In other words, people shouldn t dress up or adorn themselves with clothing or objects that belong to another culture (or in a way that is offensive). This halloween, many parents were cautious about letting their child dress up as Polynesian Disney princess, because they were unsure of what others would say. Is it appropriate for a white child to dress up as a Polynesian princess? I would say no. It gives people from other cultures the impression that you think of them as costumes, and not people. Some important topicality would be the words: Appropriate: To take something for their own use Marginalized: To prevent something from having attention or power. Privileged: Enjoying special advantages, available only to a select group. My value, Dignity. It is inappropriate for someone who isn t Polynesian to dress up as a princess from that race, or any race that they do not belong to. It could be percieved the wrong way, even if the wearer isn t intentionally deriding those of another race. It shows that we think of that race as just costumes, and aren t really looking into the deeper culture, as well as the spiritual meaning of their practices or adornments. My criterion is Deontology. I believe that people that are free and rational beings should also be able to go about their lives without feeling ridiculed by other races in a manner that makes them feel uncomfortable, or causes them any reason to feel as if they are being made fun of. People from other cultures are getting mocked, and ridiculed as if they are less than a person. Sachi Feris, a blogger that was mentioned in an article in Opposing Views says, I don t like the idea of dressing someone up as someone with another culture, because it s like we re laughing at her culture by making it a costume. This causes reason for fights in racially tense times, which is something none of us need, and doesn t benefit us in the process. There exists in man the desire to be recognized by others as an individual with specifically positive qualities. Therefore, based on the labels assigned to him, he creates his desired persona. This concept is exemplified in Rewriting the Soul by Ian Hacking through his theory of the looping effect, which portrays a cycle of mutual changes based on the influence of classifications and those classified. Humans are given labels and thus act appropriately to either maintain the favorable labels or diminish those which appear negative. This creates a fabrication based on the influence of others rather than a true self. The mimicry of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Hacking dives into the history of multiple personality disorder he brings up a certain concept to justify the transition from the 19th century version of the disorder to modern day s picture. This concept he names the looping effect of human kinds (21), which is explained with the MPD example being that the doctors vision was different because the patients were different; but the patients were different because the doctors expectations were different (21). The doctors influence the patients only to be later influenced in return by the patients thus there will never be a concrete definition of MPD nor will there be a fixed prototype of the disorder as both are being constantly mutually altered. Consequently, a diagnosed MPD possessor will never truly know whether or not they have the disorder since MPD has no locked definition. In like manner, the looping effect affects all persons as their identities are continually being modified from external influences whether they chose to be or not. In the case of consciously changing themselves, people are specifically labeled and are assigned certain qualities of which they either view as pleasant or insulting. As a result, these people choose to modify themselves in the attempt of creating a new self that embodies the favored qualities and eliminates the unattractive qualities. However, the solar system was previously believed to be geocentric, with Earth being considered the center of the universe and the solar system. Aristotle, a dominant force in the early days of science and philosophy, was one of the first to propose the idea that the Earth was positioned at the center of the universe. Ptolemy, an Egyptian mathematician, and astronomer, agreed, and expanded on this geocentric model. Although the Aristolean Ptolemaic model had the support of the Christian and Catholic churches, Nicholas Copernicus, however reluctantly, put forward the idea that the solar system and the universe, were heliocentric. • 31. Antony And Cleopatra Relationship Essay The relationship between Antony and Cleopatra is something we can only speculate about after analysing the writings from ancient history. The main written accounts of the couple come primarily from Roman writers, therefore are largely based on the cultural, political and possibly personal beliefs of the individuals who wrote them. An important similarity between the two passages would be that both were originally written in the early part of the second century CE, more than 150 years after the events took place (Fear, 2008, p. 9). This highlights the fact that we cannot take the information in these passages as true historical fact but rather the opinion of two Roman citizens whose preconceptions of Antony and Cleopatra have been formed ... In Plutarch s extract, the fault seems to lie upon Antony and his own moral failings. It shows his weakness in how he reacted to the emotional blackmail and manipulation by Cleopatra. If we take a closer look at Reading 1.1, it poses very sexist views of women. Much more emphasis is put on stating that a woman had done this to Antony and that he has been enslaved by her , taking away his control in the situation. In the end, both extracts show that toxic relationship of Antony and Cleopatra was the downfall of their political careers and ultimately cost them both their lives. By studying these historical texts, we see an example of how our own opinions and ideas play a part in how the reputations of people in history are created. Undoubtedly the account of Cleopatra and Antony will continue to evolve over time. At first glance, these two paintings seem very different to look at. It s clear that they are of the same genre of still life however the composition, colour range and possible meanings behind the artwork themselves, greatly differ. One of the most important differences would be the tonal range used in the two paintings. If we look at the Moillon painting, the tone appears quite wide, going drastically from dark to light as we see in the very dark background to the very light table top and oranges. This contrasts with Cézanne s work, as he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Early Life Stages Of Aging Essay Aging is a biological process by gradual deterioration of the physiological functions and metabolic processes. (Hilaire Bakala et al 2012) Exposure to stressful situations during early life can have intense health consequences and is impaired throughout life. However some cases of this impact do not become evident until much later in life or decades later, when the individuals begin to show signs of accelerated ageing. (Katherine A. et al 2014). While understanding the relationship between early life and longevity has important implications in the field of aging, we have still little information about the mechanisms involved in the prolonged times scales of stress aging. A stress can stimulate various pathways leading to increased production of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) it is well known that are highly reactive and capable of damaged many biological macro molecules such as DNA, RNA, Proteins, and Lipids (Govinda Rao 1989; Tian et al 1998). The accumulation of oxidative damaged molecules may cause genetic mutation and cellular senescence (Tian et al 1998).
