Essay about Napoleon
During rough times in France in the late 1700 amp;#8217;s, an anarchy was being formed. A
revolution turned into civil war and the people were unhappy and needed a leader. At this time,
General Napoleon Bonaparte took an opportunity. Napoleon amp;#8217;s fame for winning battles in
the Middle East and Egypt and crushing royalist uprisings back at home allowed him to take over the
Directory with ease. Recognized for his great military skills and outstanding leadership, Napoleon
easily won over the hearts of the people. Napoleon amp;#8217;s first move was to obtain leadership.
With the help of Pope Pius VII Napoleon was named First Consul of France. Though France was now
declared an empire, it was technically a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though many accomplishments were shown in government as well as religion, Napoleon
amp;#8217;s main interests were focused on building an empire. After defeating Italy and Austria, and
persuading Russia to withdraw from the war, Napoleon named himself Emperor.
Though Napoleon was very successful on land and in battles, he also had many unsuccessful attempts.
Napoleon amp;#8217;s rage against Britain remained unsuccessful. He attempted many tactics against
the British army. At the Battle of Trafalgar, Napoleon amp;#8217;s loss was severe. The unexpected
raid of the British admiral Lord Nelson, forced Napoleon to lose. Soon after this loss, Napoleon
attempted to force Economic Blockades on Britain called the Continental System. He demanded that
his conquered countries not trade with Britain, and asked Russia and Prussia to participate. The British
counter to this move was to demand that any ship going to Europe, was to report in to Great Britain
first. After a while, the French Navy was not able to hold off the British navy and the Continental
System failed. The French Economy soon worsened and Napoleon continued to expand his empire.
Napoleon then made many more moves stirring up more trouble. He named his brothers kings in
conquered countries, and removed the Holy Roman Empire, setting up the Confederation of the Rhine.
This angered the Prussians, causing them to declare war. The Prussian uprisings were easily
conquered by the French. As Napoleon conquered

The Atchafalaya Basin
The Atchafalaya Basin could be perceived as the embodiment of the Cajun Culture within the southern
Louisiana region. It has not only been a home to the growing Cajun population but a safe haven for
Native American settlers and French colonist that have been exiled. The Basin has existed for
hundreds of years dating back to the 15th century. The basin itself is one of the most ecologically
varied regions within the United States and has provided for over hundreds of different species. The
benefits of the Atchafalaya Basin are endless and have continually provided the inhabitants of the area
with bountiful resources, hunting grounds, homes, and transportation. The Atchafalaya river basin

About 200 years ago, the first Europeans gradually moved into the Atchafalaya region and Acadians,
otherwise known as Cajuns, soon followed behind. Those who developed the Acadian culture came
from rural areas of western French. By 1604, these same people ventured off to Acadie, currently
known as Nova Scotia, Canada, where they became farmers and fisherman. Unfortunately, over the
next 100 years, the ownership of the colony of Acadie changed over several times. This caused great
distress between the colonies and created an easy access for anyone to take over. In 1713, Great
Britain took permanent control of Acadie, however many Acadians refused the rule over them. They
denied their new British title and would not swear allegiance to the British crown and church. Due to
their outlandish refusals, the British began to remove the Acadians from the homelands and herd them
onto British ships where they would set sail to an unknown destination in exile. Many of the former
Acadian colonist found their way to the southern area of Louisiana. The Acadians took refuge in a
murky swamp called Atchafalaya. They made a home out of the basin. The Acadians had to start over
their whole lives but many were relieved to be out of the hands of the British and to maintain their
independent culture they had once established. The Acadians adapted to the constantly, changing
nature of the basin environment. The settlers

Kansas Cornfield Analysis
John Curry is an aspiring artist that grew up on a farm in Kansas. John was influenced by nature and
made wildly known artwork out of it. While living at the farm he was inspired for his painting Kansas
Cornfield . This oil on canvas was completed in 1933 and now hangs in the Wichita Art Museum. This
painting was one of the first artworks acquired by the Wichita Art Museum. The time on the piece
gives the sense of John Curry s Kansas has not changed. Like every piece of art, the painting Kansas
Cornfield has meaning behind the work, an emphasis and focal point, and space in the artwork. The
meaning behind artwork is unique because everyone has their own interpretation. One of my two

The Environment And Environmental Pollution
The environment molds plant and animal life, but over the past century humans have been able to alter
the environment. This change caused problems to the earth pollution to the earth, air, and water
sources. Pollution extends to the animals, vegetation, and humans as well. These damages are mostly
irreversible, and continue at a rapid pace. Pesticides are a large factor in this pollution. The earth can
adjust to these chemicals, but not fast enough. Every year 500 new synthetic chemicals are introduced.
Continuing to use these chemicals can be harmful to the future generations. The public is not informed
about the consequences of these chemicals, and must find out on their own. All humans will come in
contact with these chemicals. Chemical residues are everywhere: water sources, soil, and humans. The
production began during World War II, and is rapidly increasing. DDT, an organic phosphorus
insecticide, once thought to be harmless and used to help with lice during WWII, is now known to be
harmful. Other pesticides can cause harmful health problems. The body can naturally protect against
these chemicals but repeated doses weaken the body. Though many of these chemicals have been
banned in other countries because of the hazards the United States continue to have no restrictions.
Water has become the most precious natural resource, but the water source is becoming heavily
polluted. The water is affected indirectly, but the water continues to be contaminated. Drinking water

The General Internal Medicine Ward
A lot of the appeal of internal medicine is Sherlockian solving the case from the clues. We are
detectives; we revel in the process of figuring it all out. It s what doctors most love to do Lisa Sanders.
Reflecting on my clinical rotation in the general internal medicine ward, I worked on a variety of
cases. I got to work with a patient who had cirrhosis secondary to Hepatitis C infection, a patient who
had COPD and developed right sided heart failure, a patient who had an un witnessed heart attack that
resulted in brain death, and much more. I enjoyed this variety, and I felt challenged everyday to
identify and evaluate differential diagnoses to come up with an appropriate management for the
patient. I also enjoyed the process of working independently to learn about the mechanism of disease,
and working collaboratively within the ward and in consultation with different services to identify
diagnosis and management plan.
Throughout my medical career, I have strived to succeed with the best of my abilities. I completed all
of my courses with above average scores. I have successfully passed my Step 1, 2 CS and CK, and
MCCEE exams on first attempt. I have used my knowledge to help fellow colleagues by offering
mentorship in to MD3 Neuroscience students while I was in MD4. As a clerk during internal medicine
core rotation I had the opportunity to work in both hospital and clinical setting. I found this
opportunity very rewarding and it helped my developed my patient care.

How Psychology Helps Us Understand the Concept of Language and Intelligence as Related to
Human Beings
Psychology, the study of behaviour and mental processes concerns itself with the reasons organisms
do what they do and how they behave in a particular way, For example why acquired skills are not lost
when learnt ; Why do children rebel against parents and, why humans speak, love and fight each other.
These examples of learning and behaviour are directly related to intelligence and language in human
beings.
It is said that language, foresight, musical skills and other hallmarks of intelligence are connected
through an underlying facility that enhances rapid movements. To most observers, the essence of
Intelligence is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon together developed a test called the ( Simon Binet Test ), to assess
the ability of children s performance at school. They developed a table used to compare the mental age
of a child to the actual age to produce the concept of I.Q. The conclusion was that a particular
intelligent person often seem quick and capable of juggling many ideas at once.
Not to be outdone, Wechler developed intelligence scales for both adults and children (WAIS WISC).
The scales are in two parts VERBAL AND PERFORMANCE, giving a clear picture of the person s
IQ; by identifying their strength and weaknesses in specific areas .The information can be used in
planning individualized instruction programs.
To help us understand the nature side of intelligence versus the nurture side Psychologists Bouchard
McGue (1981), and Harrell et al(1955) provided us with correlations and comparisons . In the case of
Bouchard and McGue the correlations thus provided were:
Identical twins reared apart .72
Identical twins reared together .86 compared to
Non identical twins reared together .60
Siblings reared apart .47
Then child and natural parent .50 while.
Then child and adopted parent .19
These results appear to strongly support the nature issue.
Numerous studies show or emphasizes the influences that environmental factors have on Intelligence.

A Central Theme or Motif in the Play Othello, Is Jealousy
Jealousy is the central theme in the play Othello by William Shakespeare. It is the most famous
literary work that focuses on the dangers of jealousy. The play is a study of how jealousy can ruin
lives even with only the most circumstantial evidence of guilt. The play opens in Venice and revolves
mainly around a man called Othello. It s his actions and thoughts which makes the play interesting and
suspenseful. Themes such as love, jealousy, betrayal, honesty and vengeance are all important and
widely portrayed throughout the play. However, as we venture into the play and the character Othello,
we will realise that jealousy is ultimately the most important theme of them all. It is the fundamental
element that fuels the characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His lack of experience brought upon his ruin. Jealousy is described throughout the play as a monstrous
emotion or more specifically, a green eyed monster . This becomes increasingly more destructive and
intense. However, it s at the end of the play that Othello commits extreme actions because his jealousy
has caused him to believe everything is true. Jealousy here is harnessed as a weapon, a weapon made
so lethal because its victim ultimately destroys himself and others around him. It is interesting that
Iago uses jealousy against Othello, as jealousy is likely the source of Iago s hatred in the first place. In
Othello, jealousy takes many forms, from sexual suspicion to professional competition, but it is, in all
cases, destructive. However, this jealousy was not originally prominent Othello, but was rather
developed through Iago s numerous plans of destruction, which is understood through Othello s
change in personality and actions taken.
By studying the text Othello by William Shakespeare, we are able to understand that jealousy is a
powerful emotion, one that can destroy relationships, and consume the mind. Whether sexual or
platonic, once the seed of jealousy is planted it can lead to devastating consequences, as seen in the
play. Jealousy can easily turn into anger, and overwhelm it s victim making them obsessed with the
notion. In the play Othello, many of the characters fall victim to

Defining Exit Polls And Opinion Polls
Defining Exit polls and Opinion Polls: Exit poll: A poll taken of a sample of voters as they leave a
polling place, used especially to predict the outcome of an election or determine the opinions and
characteristics of the candidates supporters . How Exit poll works: Conducting national exit polls is an
enormous undertaking, requiring as long as two years to implement. The goal of the process is to
collect information on a subset of voters that can be projected to the entire active electorate with a
high degree of confidence. Numerous obstacles, though, stand in the way, threatening to undermine
the effort and bias the results. Exit polls, like most surveys, unfold in four distinct but often
overlapping stages / Research ers usually begin by developing procedures for drawing a probabilistic
sample of voters whose responses can be inferred to the active electorate with a high degree of
confidence. They develop a questionnaire, capable of both describing the types of voters participating
in an election as well as offering insights into the reasoning behind their choices. Interviewers are
trained and eventually employed to disseminate the questionnaires to and collect them from sampled
voters on Election Day. The process concludes with the integration of voters responses into a data set
for analysis. The specific procedures used for each stage vary by polling organization; therefore, I
focus my discussion on those procedures developed by Warren Mitofsky, Murray Edelman,

Benefits And Benefits Of Employee Benefits Essay
Employee benefits are all forms of consideration given by an enterprise in place of service rendered
by employees. Post employment benefits are employee benefits which are payable after the
employment period is completed. Profit sharing bonus payment: an organisation should observe the
future cost of profit sharing and bonus payments only if the organisation has a present obligation to
make these payments based on the result of past events. A trustworthy assessment of the obligation

Rise And Fall Of Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart disappeared in 1937 on an attempted fly around the world. After her plane crashed,

uninhabited island called Gardner. The theory is supposedly, while Amelia and Frederick where in the

on Gardner Island. This is where both her and Noonan died from lack of resources and no rescue on

Music s Impact On The Music Revolution
Musical revolutions can be defined by three key aspects which are: the venues music was made in, the
way the audience listened to the music, and the way the music was disseminated. These are unique in
that there is no clear separation between them and at times some of the changes that have been made
can impact all three at the same time. The age in which we live in is experiencing all of these aspects
to one degree or another. It is difficult for someone my age to understand that we are living in a music
revolution the likes of which has never been seen before.
From what I have learned in the History of American Pop music class it seems that the venues which
music has been made in will remain consistent for many years then drastically change. The first music
industry we have learned of consisted of composers who would write music for the performers who
would perform them with the possibility that someone in the audience could go to the music shop and
purchase the sheet music with the intention to play it themselves. This aspect influenced the higher
classes more than the lower classes since you would have to have money to see the concert, buy the
music, and own an instrument to play it on. At that time there was no major companies who
consistently put out music for the purpose of being consumed. The first time we can see this concept
being readily applied would be in Tin Pan Alley. Although Tin Pan Alley was still producing sheet
music it was created for the purpose

Andrea Doria Research Paper
The Italian luxury liner Andrea Doria and the Swedish American ship Stockholm collided on the night
of July 25th, 1956. Prior to their collision, a study in 1948 had been done, on the busyness of the New
York harbor, and it recommended that ships traveling east go 20 miles south of the Nantucket
lightship. Had these ships heeded this advice a collision might never have occurred. The Andrea
Doria, captained by Piero Calamai, was headed towards New York harbor with 1,134 passengers on
board. On this same night, the Swedish American liner Stockholm was leaving the harbor of New
York. Both the Andrea Doria and the Stockholm, relying on their radars, saw the other s ship about 17
miles out, but both Calamai and the watch officer on the Stockholm

Sir Gawain And Don Quixote
Chris Shea
ENG 203 Final Essay
Professor Meghan Evans
12/09/15
Who is More Chivalrous, Sir Gawain or Don Quixote?
Sir Gawain and Don Quixote...these brave men bolster the honor, courage, and bravery which can be
only demonstrated by that of the chivalrous knight. They face strong adversity, yet are able to use their
wit and cunning in order to gain the upper hand. They uphold the laws of chivalry every knight must
obey. First a knight must obey God. Then a knight must obey his King and his Lords. And then a
knight must obey his Lady Love. Yes with their majestic nobilities, these brave men represent the
epiphany of all that is great about knighthood. Of course this is all unless one is referring to Don
Quixote.
First off in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Gawain is a legitimate knight. He serves the court of
King Arthur and is among the famous Knights of the Round Table. When the Green Knight breaks
into the castle and demands that King Arthur play the Beheading Game with him, Arthur voluntarily
comes up and gets ready to do so. But then in an action comparable to a model knight, Sir Gawain
volunteers to behead the Green Knight in Arthur s place. This leads to the Green Knight picking his
severed head up and telling Sir Gawain to meet him at the Green Chapel in a year and a day.
Time passes by to the beginning of the next winter, where Sir Gawain must leave King Arthur s castle
(Camelot?) and ride to the Green Chapel. After days of riding and encountering dangerous

Responses when Confronted with the Sacred and Secular...
The popular author Chaim Potok struggled throughout his life with the sacred (Jewish religion and
tradition) and the secular world. Potok suggested four possible responses for a person who faces
confrontation with the sacred thought system and the secular thought system. First, the lockout
response: a person escapes the conflict by erecting impenetrable barriers between the sacred and the
secular and then remains in just one system. Second, compartmentalization: a person creates separate
categories of thought that coexist in what he called a tenuous peace. Third, complete fusion: a person
takes down all walls and allows the sacred and secular cultures to freely mix with each other, perhaps
leading to a radically new seminal culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Potok, this leaves one remaining response, ambiguity and uncertainty. Two years ago
Don Colton (Professor in Computer and Information Science) gave a fine lecture on ambiguity. I refer
you to his lecture for more on how ambiguity is a part of our lives. Although I agree that we must live
with some degree of ambiguity, I feel uncomfortable resigning myself or others to a multitude of
questions with no intention of searching for answers. This approach goes counter to our natural desire
to seek for truth. It seems a rather lazy way to respond to conflict. There will undoubtedly be
discrepancies between the secular and the sacred that will not be answered in our lifetime, but
searching for truth has its own rewards.. By examining and working with the seemingly opposing
thoughts, we may find undiscovered truths that otherwise would not have been sought.
I believe there must be a fifth alternative for responding to discrepancies between the sacred and
secular. This approach is the eternal perspective that is taught in the scriptures and in the temple. It is
the realization that, when there are conflicting ideas, we must continue to search

Wuthering Heights Analysis
Wuthering Heights
Wuthering Heights is a great literary work which keeps the audience exited while going through the
novel. Some novels are monotonous in the way they are written and lack ideas to keep the novel move
forward but this novel is an exception. Author keeps the audience guessing throughout this novel and
that is one of the fundamental reasons for acceptance of this book even by the audience of this
generation. Wuthering Heights basically revolves around its two main characters Catherine Earnshaw
and Heathcliff .The novel portrays the emotional and destructive love between its two central
characters mentioned above. Catherine and Heathcliff s love heads to a totally different direction as
we move forward the novel. Even though beginning of the novel shows the love to be true and
unconditional it changes rapidly to infatuation from Catherine the female lead character in the novel.
This change of attitude actually makes the novel exiting and it ultimately leads the way to one of the
main themes of the novel revenge. I would be focusing on the significance of the theme revenge in
this work by Emily Bronte.
Catherine and Heathcliff s passion for one another seems to be the center of Wuthering Heights in the
first half of the novel and revenge takes the center stage in the latter half of the novel.
Revenge mentality of Heathcliff is stronger and more lasting than any other feeling of love, hate, guilt
etc. displayed in the novel. Introduction of Heathcliff is the source of most of the major conflicts that
structure the novel s plot. As she tells Catherine and Heathcliff s story, Nelly presents both of
them(unpleasantly loudly or cruelly, strongly criticizing their passion as socially wrong , but this
passion is obviously one of the most interesting/most forceful and unforgettable parts of the book. It is
not easy to decide whether Bronte intends the reader strongly criticize these lovers as worthy of being
blamed or to (think of something perfect in your mind) them as romantic heroes whose love goes
beyond behavior that most people would say ok and ordinary sense of right and wrong. In contrast to
the first part of the novel, the last thing just mentioned the developing love between young

The Life Of The Smithsonian National Museum Of Natural...
At the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History there is an exhibit called Eternal Life in
Ancient Egypt . This exhibit focuses on Egypt s past with important and interesting artifacts related to
burial techniques and religious beliefs. The most simple answer to why it is important to understand
the way people lived in the past is that we can t truly know ourselves until we understand where we
came from. This essay will analyze the exhibit to show what it s telling us and why it is so important.
To start, a main focus in the exhibit is the Egyptians old burial rituals. It is widely known that the
Egyptians used to mummify the dead. The exhibit not only displays these mummies, but it also
displays what they were buried with. The objects buried in the tomb with the body are known to be for
the afterlife of the person who is buried. These objects in the exhibit, along with the mummy and it s
sarcophagus, included vessels for food and water, canopic jars for the organs of the mummy, along
with jewelry and figurines of the gods and goddesses of Egypt. Also, the plaques on the inside of the
exhibit s walls read descriptions of ancient Egyptian beliefs and why some of the goods were buried
with the mummy. This can help visitors understand the way of life in ancient Egypt by putting out
these finds for everyone to learn from. The information on burial rituals and objects shown on display
depict Egypt s ancient religious beliefs and how the afterlife worked.

Unit 12 P2: Explain the impact of organisational policies and procedures on the provision of technical
support
In this document I will be explaining the impact of organisational policies and procedures on the
provision of technical support.
In the modern world, IT Support is a major factor which is necessary in order to progress and function
properly. In big organisations, tech Support departments work tirelessly every day to provide quick
and effective support for users with faults. There are however factors which impact the provision of
technical support, these factors are:
Organisational guidelines
Service level agreements (SLA)
Confidentiality
Sensitivity of information
Organisational constraints
Outsourcing of support services
Organisational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost of maintaining this department tends to fall over time however modernisation and
The provision of IT Support will be impacted by the costs of resources required as the organisation
may not be able to afford to hire staff and hardware required thus having to hire external IT Support. If
the organisation doesn t have either an internal or external IT Support (or the organisation is large and
has a small tech support department), the organisation will not function properly and may face many
issues thus the provision of IT Support will be limited.
Another impact of organisational constraints on the provision of IT Support is the licensing and cost of
software. The internal IT Support will need to purchase software licenses in order to provide the
support to users. Some software licenses for software like fault logging and VNC are expensive. If the
organisation cannot provide funding for the software licenses to be purchased, the IT Support will
need to use alternative methods and this will definitively impact the provision of IT Support.

Ethics In Call Of Duty
War is unforgiveable. Even to the novices and the arm chair commanders whose combat experience
does not extend past Call of Duty , it is clear that choosing one path over another can mean the
difference between life and death for oneself and one s unit. Sometimes there is no right decision, and
yet in others our own prejudices, fears, and emotions get in the way of the right decision. While the
former is often the well known reality of life that is seldom overcome, the latter leads people to make
the wrong decision when the right one is clear. The same can be said of the unit from the Academy
Award winning 1986 film Platoon that fell victim to their own prejudices, fears, and emotions,
eventually committing a number of war crimes before the film was through.
Despite the fictional nature of the film, Chris Taylor, played by Charlie Sheen, and the rest of the
soldiers in his platoon are forced to face not only their own ill advised actions, but whether or not to
report the illegal killing of a Vietnamese civilian. After Sergeant Elias, one of the platoon s squad
leaders, reports the killing, he is killed in action under suspicious circumstances after coming face to
face with the perpetrator, Staff Sergeant Barnes, the platoon sergeant. After Elias dies, Taylor and the

Essay about Describing Dunkirk
Describing Dunkirk On the 20th May 1940the allied troops were trapped by the Germans on the
Northern coast of France. The allies consisted of the British Expeditionary Force (B.E.F), the Belgian
Army and the ten best divisions of the French Army. It was on this day that Churchill gave the
command for the evacuation to take place, to Britain by ship, following advice from Lord Gort (leader
of the B.E.F). Rommel was advancing from the north and Degaudier from the south trapping the
troops. The evacuation was organised by Admiral Ramsey and codenamed Operation Dynamo with
the main objective to rescue as much of the B.E.F as possible. This evacuation began on May 27th
from the beaches of Dunkirk. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An important factor in arguing Dunkirk as a defeat is that 68,111 men from the B.E.F were killed,
wounded or taken prisoner during the evacuation. The cost of replacing the B.E.F s equipment would
be astronomical for the government and for their part in the evacuation the Navy suffered 243 ships
sunken (including 6 important British destroyers with 19 left damaged) and the RAF lost 474 aircraft.
Source 3 supports the view of Dunkirk as a British military defeat. It is a photographic source showing
Dunkirk after the evacuation displaying a deserted beach littered with equipment, corpses and debris.
Off the shore are broken half sunken ships with those that have become beached, one possibly a
military boat and also many smaller vessels. The photograph of the dead soldiers shows military
defeat as the objective was to rescue the B.E.F and would be very demoralising for the British public.
The large boat could belong to the navy and would be very valuable, loss of this would be very
expensive, along with the rest of the abandoned equipment. The source seems reliable as it is first
hand primary evidence. It is useful for showing defeat as it displays what it looked like at Dunkirk
after the evacuation. Its also backs up my own knowledge as the B.E.F lost 68,111 men and you would
expect bodies on the beaches where

Compare and Assess the Three Alternative Theoretical...
The topic of war and peace has become an increasingly important area concerning international
relations over the past decade. Wars varying from Russia s invasion of Georgia, to the United States
involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan placed war on top of international politics agenda. These wars,
along with all other wars, are started for various reasons, which different international relations
theories try to identify. Theories such as realism or institutionalism may have severely different views
on identical cases, and while all theories usually have some degree of merit, opposing theories will

A liberal, someone who subscribes to the state society approach, would argue that, liberal theory
provides a plausible theoretical explanation for variation in the substantive content of foreign policy.
In other words, while realism and institutionalism may focus on the formal causes of conflict and
cooperation, such as military power; the state society approach explains state s behavior with regard to
certain contexts more appropriately. For example, why should the US worry about a limited number of
nuclear weapons possessed by North Korea, while countries like Great Britain and France own much
larger stockpiles of nuclear weapons? According to realist theory, states are wary of long term treaties
with other states, and therefore the United States should be worried about those countries that pose a
greater potential threat. As modern politics have shown, this is, of course, not the case. States perceive
threats not in the most potentially dangerous, but in the enemy most likely to provoke war. It is also
important to note, that during the course of history, states change whom they believe to be perceived
threats, another fundamental flaw with both realism and institutionalism. Realism contributes, no
theoretical importance, (p. 535) to the advancement of economic development in international politics,
while a liberal would argue that the economic nature of a state has a direct affect on state behavior.

The Impact Of Immigration On The United States And Canada...
Chapter One: Introduction to Investigation
Immigration to North American nations has been a staple process for countries like the United States
and Canada. Without immigrants, these two nations would not have become as large and successful as
they are today. However, easy and encouraged immigration has not always been a constant for these
two countries. Throughout the centuries, there have been issues and disputes over immigration for
particular ethnicities and groups of people which continue even to this day. One example being the
current dispute on Mexican immigrants residing or entering the United States and whether it requires
heavier government intervention. A similar problem beginning almost two centuries ago has already
occurred in both the US and Canada, and was resolved in extreme manners similar to some of those
proposed American politicians. As following a popular quote by George Santayana, Those who do not
learn history are doomed to repeat it, by examining past events similar to those seen today, those
involved in the issue can make better judgements based on what has and has not worked in the past.
The aforementioned problem was one of the largest past uproars concerning American and Canadian
immigration, which was with the sudden flow of Chinese immigrants to North America in the 1800s to
the 1920s. Most of whom hailed from Southern China, poor Chinese immigrants that journeyed to the
United States to secure their share in the American Dream, often

The Rapid Evolution Of Health Care
The Stand Alone ER The Rapid Evolution of Health Care By Steve Okhravi, MD, MBA, CPE July 16,
2012 Emergency care in the US is at a breaking point. Per data from The Institute of Medicine, over
1000 hospitals closed in the past few years because of the enormous cost associated with operation.
There has been an increase in the number of visits to emergency rooms (ERs) to more than 120
million mostly due to those who are uninsured who, as a result, have a lack of access to primary care.
As the number of those who are uninsured grows because of the recession so, too, does the community
who turns to ER services for their health care needs. Clearly, ER provides a safety net for the
medically underserved. With the passage of the healthcare law, the shortage of primary care resources
will be more noticeable. And, that means people will resort to ERs to seek care since they cannot
access their doctors after usual office hours, on weekends or during holidays. In mid year 2012, there
is currently a shortage of 150,000 primary care physicians. And, by 2020, it is projected there will be
an additional 50,000 PC physician shortage. There are about 4,600 ERs nationwide and the numbers
are decreasing. Overcrowded and slow ERs are symptoms of deeper problems in our health care
system. The American College of Emergency Physicians recently gave the nation s ER system a D
rating for access of care and C overall. Stand Alone emergency rooms are like an ER whereby you are

Francis Scott Key s The Star-Spangled Banner
The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key as he watched his fellow Americans stand
strong in their darkest hour. For over twenty four hours Fort McHenry was bombarded by British
Navy, but the American troops fought, and so did their families. The Americans rallied around the
singular flag that stood high in the fort, and a flag that was a target for the British armada. They
planned to destroy the flag to disrupt moral, but the Americans refused to let it fall. They used that
singular flag as motivation, and motivation that eventually won them the battle. The flag still holds the
same purpose today. To remember those who have fought, or are currently fighting in our armies. It
also serves as a source of pride, motivation, and patriotism towards our country. Knowing what our
flag means to our history and our country, we can t possibly keep letting our countries source of pride
be disrespected by those attempting to promote their own cause. Are nations athletes that choose to
display their displeasure with our nation s current state, and disrespect what our flag means for our

  • 2. Essay about Napoleon During rough times in France in the late 1700 amp;#8217;s, an anarchy was being formed. A revolution turned into civil war and the people were unhappy and needed a leader. At this time, General Napoleon Bonaparte took an opportunity. Napoleon amp;#8217;s fame for winning battles in the Middle East and Egypt and crushing royalist uprisings back at home allowed him to take over the Directory with ease. Recognized for his great military skills and outstanding leadership, Napoleon easily won over the hearts of the people. Napoleon amp;#8217;s first move was to obtain leadership. With the help of Pope Pius VII Napoleon was named First Consul of France. Though France was now declared an empire, it was technically a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though many accomplishments were shown in government as well as religion, Napoleon amp;#8217;s main interests were focused on building an empire. After defeating Italy and Austria, and persuading Russia to withdraw from the war, Napoleon named himself Emperor. Though Napoleon was very successful on land and in battles, he also had many unsuccessful attempts. Napoleon amp;#8217;s rage against Britain remained unsuccessful. He attempted many tactics against the British army. At the Battle of Trafalgar, Napoleon amp;#8217;s loss was severe. The unexpected raid of the British admiral Lord Nelson, forced Napoleon to lose. Soon after this loss, Napoleon attempted to force Economic Blockades on Britain called the Continental System. He demanded that his conquered countries not trade with Britain, and asked Russia and Prussia to participate. The British counter to this move was to demand that any ship going to Europe, was to report in to Great Britain first. After a while, the French Navy was not able to hold off the British navy and the Continental System failed. The French Economy soon worsened and Napoleon continued to expand his empire. Napoleon then made many more moves stirring up more trouble. He named his brothers kings in conquered countries, and removed the Holy Roman Empire, setting up the Confederation of the Rhine. This angered the Prussians, causing them to declare war. The Prussian uprisings were easily conquered by the French. As Napoleon conquered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Atchafalaya Basin The Atchafalaya Basin could be perceived as the embodiment of the Cajun Culture within the southern Louisiana region. It has not only been a home to the growing Cajun population but a safe haven for Native American settlers and French colonist that have been exiled. The Basin has existed for hundreds of years dating back to the 15th century. The basin itself is one of the most ecologically varied regions within the United States and has provided for over hundreds of different species. The benefits of the Atchafalaya Basin are endless and have continually provided the inhabitants of the area with bountiful resources, hunting grounds, homes, and transportation. About 200 years ago, the first Europeans gradually moved into the Atchafalaya region and Acadians, otherwise known as Cajuns, soon followed behind. Those who developed the Acadian culture came from rural areas of western French. By 1604, these same people ventured off to Acadie, currently known as Nova Scotia, Canada, where they became farmers and fisherman. Unfortunately, over the next 100 years, the ownership of the colony of Acadie changed over several times. This caused great distress between the colonies and created an easy access for anyone to take over. In 1713, Great Britain took permanent control of Acadie, however many Acadians refused the rule over them. They denied their new British title and would not swear allegiance to the British crown and church. Due to their outlandish refusals, the British began to remove the Acadians from the homelands and herd them onto British ships where they would set sail to an unknown destination in exile. Many of the former Acadian colonist found their way to the southern area of Louisiana. The Acadians took refuge in a murky swamp called Atchafalaya. They made a home out of the basin. The Acadians had to start over their whole lives but many were relieved to be out of the hands of the British and to maintain their independent culture they had once established. The Acadians adapted to the constantly, changing nature of the basin environment. The settlers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While living at the farm he was inspired for his painting Kansas Cornfield . This oil on canvas was completed in 1933 and now hangs in the Wichita Art Museum. This painting was one of the first artworks acquired by the Wichita Art Museum. The time on the piece gives the sense of John Curry s Kansas has not changed. Like every piece of art, the painting Kansas Cornfield has meaning behind the work, an emphasis and focal point, and space in the artwork. This change caused problems to the earth pollution to the earth, air, and water sources. Pollution extends to the animals, vegetation, and humans as well. These damages are mostly irreversible, and continue at a rapid pace. Pesticides are a large factor in this pollution. The earth can adjust to these chemicals, but not fast enough. Every year 500 new synthetic chemicals are introduced. Continuing to use these chemicals can be harmful to the future generations. The public is not informed about the consequences of these chemicals, and must find out on their own. All humans will come in contact with these chemicals. Chemical residues are everywhere: water sources, soil, and humans. The production began during World War II, and is rapidly increasing. DDT, an organic phosphorus insecticide, once thought to be harmless and used to help with lice during WWII, is now known to be harmful. Other pesticides can cause harmful health problems. The body can naturally protect against these chemicals but repeated doses weaken the body. Though many of these chemicals have been banned in other countries because of the hazards the United States continue to have no restrictions. It s what doctors most love to do Lisa Sanders. Reflecting on my clinical rotation in the general internal medicine ward, I worked on a variety of cases. I got to work with a patient who had cirrhosis secondary to Hepatitis C infection, a patient who had COPD and developed right sided heart failure, a patient who had an un witnessed heart attack that resulted in brain death, and much more. I enjoyed this variety, and I felt challenged everyday to identify and evaluate differential diagnoses to come up with an appropriate management for the patient. I also enjoyed the process of working independently to learn about the mechanism of disease, and working collaboratively within the ward and in consultation with different services to identify diagnosis and management plan. Throughout my medical career, I have strived to succeed with the best of my abilities. I completed all of my courses with above average scores. I have successfully passed my Step 1, 2 CS and CK, and MCCEE exams on first attempt. I have used my knowledge to help fellow colleagues by offering mentorship in to MD3 Neuroscience students while I was in MD4. How Psychology Helps Us Understand the Concept of Language and Intelligence as Related to Human Beings Psychology, the study of behaviour and mental processes concerns itself with the reasons organisms do what they do and how they behave in a particular way, For example why acquired skills are not lost when learnt ; Why do children rebel against parents and, why humans speak, love and fight each other. Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon together developed a test called the ( Simon Binet Test ), to assess the ability of children s performance at school. They developed a table used to compare the mental age of a child to the actual age to produce the concept of I.Q. The conclusion was that a particular intelligent person often seem quick and capable of juggling many ideas at once. Not to be outdone, Wechler developed intelligence scales for both adults and children (WAIS WISC). The scales are in two parts VERBAL AND PERFORMANCE, giving a clear picture of the person s IQ; by identifying their strength and weaknesses in specific areas .The information can be used in planning individualized instruction programs. To help us understand the nature side of intelligence versus the nurture side Psychologists Bouchard McGue (1981), and Harrell et al(1955) provided us with correlations and comparisons . It is the most famous literary work that focuses on the dangers of jealousy. The play is a study of how jealousy can ruin lives even with only the most circumstantial evidence of guilt. The play opens in Venice and revolves mainly around a man called Othello. It s his actions and thoughts which makes the play interesting and suspenseful. Themes such as love, jealousy, betrayal, honesty and vengeance are all important and widely portrayed throughout the play. However, as we venture into the play and the character Othello, we will realise that jealousy is ultimately the most important theme of them all. It is the fundamental element that fuels the characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His lack of experience brought upon his ruin. Jealousy is described throughout the play as a monstrous emotion or more specifically, a green eyed monster . This becomes increasingly more destructive and intense. However, it s at the end of the play that Othello commits extreme actions because his jealousy has caused him to believe everything is true. Jealousy here is harnessed as a weapon, a weapon made so lethal because its victim ultimately destroys himself and others around him. It is interesting that Iago uses jealousy against Othello, as jealousy is likely the source of Iago s hatred in the first place. In Othello, jealousy takes many forms, from sexual suspicion to professional competition, but it is, in all cases, destructive. However, this jealousy was not originally prominent Othello, but was rather developed through Iago s numerous plans of destruction, which is understood through Othello s change in personality and actions taken. By studying the text Othello by William Shakespeare, we are able to understand that jealousy is a powerful emotion, one that can destroy relationships, and consume the mind. • 14. Defining Exit Polls And Opinion Polls Defining Exit polls and Opinion Polls: Exit poll: A poll taken of a sample of voters as they leave a polling place, used especially to predict the outcome of an election or determine the opinions and characteristics of the candidates supporters . How Exit poll works: Conducting national exit polls is an enormous undertaking, requiring as long as two years to implement. The goal of the process is to collect information on a subset of voters that can be projected to the entire active electorate with a high degree of confidence. Numerous obstacles, though, stand in the way, threatening to undermine the effort and bias the results. Exit polls, like most surveys, unfold in four distinct but often overlapping stages / Research ers usually begin by developing procedures for drawing a probabilistic sample of voters whose responses can be inferred to the active electorate with a high degree of confidence. They develop a questionnaire, capable of both describing the types of voters participating in an election as well as offering insights into the reasoning behind their choices. Interviewers are trained and eventually employed to disseminate the questionnaires to and collect them from sampled voters on Election Day. The process concludes with the integration of voters responses into a data set for analysis. The specific procedures used for each stage vary by polling organization; therefore, I focus my discussion on those procedures developed by Warren Mitofsky, Murray Edelman, ... Music s Impact On The Music Revolution Musical revolutions can be defined by three key aspects which are: the venues music was made in, the way the audience listened to the music, and the way the music was disseminated. These are unique in that there is no clear separation between them and at times some of the changes that have been made can impact all three at the same time. The age in which we live in is experiencing all of these aspects to one degree or another. It is difficult for someone my age to understand that we are living in a music revolution the likes of which has never been seen before. From what I have learned in the History of American Pop music class it seems that the venues which music has been made in will remain consistent for many years then drastically change. The first music industry we have learned of consisted of composers who would write music for the performers who would perform them with the possibility that someone in the audience could go to the music shop and purchase the sheet music with the intention to play it themselves. This aspect influenced the higher classes more than the lower classes since you would have to have money to see the concert, buy the music, and own an instrument to play it on. At that time there was no major companies who consistently put out music for the purpose of being consumed. The first time we can see this concept being readily applied would be in Tin Pan Alley. • 23. Sir Gawain And Don Quixote Chris Shea ENG 203 Final Essay Professor Meghan Evans 12/09/15 Who is More Chivalrous, Sir Gawain or Don Quixote? Sir Gawain and Don Quixote...these brave men bolster the honor, courage, and bravery which can be only demonstrated by that of the chivalrous knight. They face strong adversity, yet are able to use their wit and cunning in order to gain the upper hand. They uphold the laws of chivalry every knight must obey. First a knight must obey God. Then a knight must obey his King and his Lords. And then a knight must obey his Lady Love. Yes with their majestic nobilities, these brave men represent the epiphany of all that is great about knighthood. Of course this is all unless one is referring to Don Quixote. First off in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Gawain is a legitimate knight. He serves the court of King Arthur and is among the famous Knights of the Round Table. When the Green Knight breaks into the castle and demands that King Arthur play the Beheading Game with him, Arthur voluntarily comes up and gets ready to do so. But then in an action comparable to a model knight, Sir Gawain volunteers to behead the Green Knight in Arthur s place. This leads to the Green Knight picking his severed head up and telling Sir Gawain to meet him at the Green Chapel in a year and a day. Time passes by to the beginning of the next winter, where Sir Gawain must leave King Arthur s castle (Camelot?) and ride to the Green Chapel. After days of riding and encountering dangerous ... • 24. Responses when Confronted with the Sacred and Secular... The popular author Chaim Potok struggled throughout his life with the sacred (Jewish religion and tradition) and the secular world. Potok suggested four possible responses for a person who faces confrontation with the sacred thought system and the secular thought system. First, the lockout response: a person escapes the conflict by erecting impenetrable barriers between the sacred and the secular and then remains in just one system. Second, compartmentalization: a person creates separate categories of thought that coexist in what he called a tenuous peace. Third, complete fusion: a person takes down all walls and allows the sacred and secular cultures to freely mix with each other, perhaps leading to a radically new seminal culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Potok, this leaves one remaining response, ambiguity and uncertainty. Two years ago Don Colton (Professor in Computer and Information Science) gave a fine lecture on ambiguity. I refer you to his lecture for more on how ambiguity is a part of our lives. Although I agree that we must live with some degree of ambiguity, I feel uncomfortable resigning myself or others to a multitude of questions with no intention of searching for answers. This approach goes counter to our natural desire to seek for truth. It seems a rather lazy way to respond to conflict. There will undoubtedly be discrepancies between the secular and the sacred that will not be answered in our lifetime, but searching for truth has its own rewards.. By examining and working with the seemingly opposing thoughts, we may find undiscovered truths that otherwise would not have been sought. I believe there must be a fifth alternative for responding to discrepancies between the sacred and secular. This approach is the eternal perspective that is taught in the scriptures and in the temple. It is the realization that, when there are conflicting ideas, we must continue to search ... • 25. Wuthering Heights Analysis Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights is a great literary work which keeps the audience exited while going through the novel. Some novels are monotonous in the way they are written and lack ideas to keep the novel move forward but this novel is an exception. Author keeps the audience guessing throughout this novel and that is one of the fundamental reasons for acceptance of this book even by the audience of this generation. Wuthering Heights basically revolves around its two main characters Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff .The novel portrays the emotional and destructive love between its two central characters mentioned above. Catherine and Heathcliff s love heads to a totally different direction as we move forward the novel. Even though beginning of the novel shows the love to be true and unconditional it changes rapidly to infatuation from Catherine the female lead character in the novel. This change of attitude actually makes the novel exiting and it ultimately leads the way to one of the main themes of the novel revenge. I would be focusing on the significance of the theme revenge in this work by Emily Bronte. Catherine and Heathcliff s passion for one another seems to be the center of Wuthering Heights in the first half of the novel and revenge takes the center stage in the latter half of the novel. Revenge mentality of Heathcliff is stronger and more lasting than any other feeling of love, hate, guilt etc. displayed in the novel. Introduction of Heathcliff is the source of most of the major conflicts that structure the novel s plot. As she tells Catherine and Heathcliff s story, Nelly presents both of them(unpleasantly loudly or cruelly, strongly criticizing their passion as socially wrong , but this passion is obviously one of the most interesting/most forceful and unforgettable parts of the book. It is not easy to decide whether Bronte intends the reader strongly criticize these lovers as worthy of being blamed or to (think of something perfect in your mind) them as romantic heroes whose love goes beyond behavior that most people would say ok and ordinary sense of right and wrong. In contrast to the first part of the novel, the last thing just mentioned the developing love between young ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This exhibit focuses on Egypt s past with important and interesting artifacts related to burial techniques and religious beliefs. The most simple answer to why it is important to understand the way people lived in the past is that we can t truly know ourselves until we understand where we came from. This essay will analyze the exhibit to show what it s telling us and why it is so important. To start, a main focus in the exhibit is the Egyptians old burial rituals. It is widely known that the Egyptians used to mummify the dead. The exhibit not only displays these mummies, but it also displays what they were buried with. The objects buried in the tomb with the body are known to be for the afterlife of the person who is buried. These objects in the exhibit, along with the mummy and it s sarcophagus, included vessels for food and water, canopic jars for the organs of the mummy, along with jewelry and figurines of the gods and goddesses of Egypt. Also, the plaques on the inside of the exhibit s walls read descriptions of ancient Egyptian beliefs and why some of the goods were buried with the mummy. Even to the novices and the arm chair commanders whose combat experience does not extend past Call of Duty , it is clear that choosing one path over another can mean the difference between life and death for oneself and one s unit. Sometimes there is no right decision, and yet in others our own prejudices, fears, and emotions get in the way of the right decision. While the former is often the well known reality of life that is seldom overcome, the latter leads people to make the wrong decision when the right one is clear. An important factor in arguing Dunkirk as a defeat is that 68,111 men from the B.E.F were killed, wounded or taken prisoner during the evacuation. Source 3 supports the view of Dunkirk as a British military defeat. It is a photographic source showing Dunkirk after the evacuation displaying a deserted beach littered with equipment, corpses and debris. Wars varying from Russia s invasion of Georgia, to the United States involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan placed war on top of international politics agenda. These wars, along with all other wars, are started for various reasons, which different international relations theories try to identify. Theories such as realism or institutionalism may have severely different views on identical cases, and while all theories usually have some degree of merit, opposing theories will find discrepancies in the views of one another s theories. In international relations, it is important to comprehend the complexities of each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A liberal, someone who subscribes to the state society approach, would argue that, liberal theory provides a plausible theoretical explanation for variation in the substantive content of foreign policy. In other words, while realism and institutionalism may focus on the formal causes of conflict and cooperation, such as military power; the state society approach explains state s behavior with regard to certain contexts more appropriately. For example, why should the US worry about a limited number of nuclear weapons possessed by North Korea, while countries like Great Britain and France own much larger stockpiles of nuclear weapons? According to realist theory, states are wary of long term treaties with other states, and therefore the United States should be worried about those countries that pose a greater potential threat. As modern politics have shown, this is, of course, not the case. States perceive threats not in the most potentially dangerous, but in the enemy most likely to provoke war. It is also important to note, that during the course of history, states change whom they believe to be perceived threats, another fundamental flaw with both realism and institutionalism. Realism contributes, no theoretical importance, (p. 535) to the advancement of economic development in international politics, while a liberal would argue that the economic nature of a state has a direct affect on state behavior. ... • 34. The Impact Of Immigration On The United States And Canada... Chapter One: Introduction to Investigation Immigration to North American nations has been a staple process for countries like the United States and Canada. Without immigrants, these two nations would not have become as large and successful as they are today. However, easy and encouraged immigration has not always been a constant for these two countries. Throughout the centuries, there have been issues and disputes over immigration for particular ethnicities and groups of people which continue even to this day. One example being the current dispute on Mexican immigrants residing or entering the United States and whether it requires heavier government intervention. A similar problem beginning almost two centuries ago has already occurred in both the US and Canada, and was resolved in extreme manners similar to some of those proposed American politicians. As following a popular quote by George Santayana, Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it, by examining past events similar to those seen today, those involved in the issue can make better judgements based on what has and has not worked in the past. The aforementioned problem was one of the largest past uproars concerning American and Canadian immigration, which was with the sudden flow of Chinese immigrants to North America in the 1800s to the 1920s. Most of whom hailed from Southern China, poor Chinese immigrants that journeyed to the United States to secure their share in the American Dream, often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Rapid Evolution Of Health Care The Stand Alone ER The Rapid Evolution of Health Care By Steve Okhravi, MD, MBA, CPE July 16, 2012 Emergency care in the US is at a breaking point. Per data from The Institute of Medicine, over 1000 hospitals closed in the past few years because of the enormous cost associated with operation. There has been an increase in the number of visits to emergency rooms (ERs) to more than 120 million mostly due to those who are uninsured who, as a result, have a lack of access to primary care. As the number of those who are uninsured grows because of the recession so, too, does the community who turns to ER services for their health care needs. Clearly, ER provides a safety net for the medically underserved. With the passage of the healthcare law, the shortage of primary care resources will be more noticeable. And, that means people will resort to ERs to seek care since they cannot access their doctors after usual office hours, on weekends or during holidays. In mid year 2012, there is currently a shortage of 150,000 primary care physicians. And, by 2020, it is projected there will be an additional 50,000 PC physician shortage. There are about 4,600 ERs nationwide and the numbers are decreasing. Overcrowded and slow ERs are symptoms of deeper problems in our health care system. The American College of Emergency Physicians recently gave the nation s ER system a D rating for access of care and C overall. Stand Alone emergency rooms are like an ER whereby you are ... • 36. Francis Scott Key s The Star-Spangled Banner The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key as he watched his fellow Americans stand strong in their darkest hour. For over twenty four hours Fort McHenry was bombarded by British Navy, but the American troops fought, and so did their families. The Americans rallied around the singular flag that stood high in the fort, and a flag that was a target for the British armada. They planned to destroy the flag to disrupt moral, but the Americans refused to let it fall. They used that singular flag as motivation, and motivation that eventually won them the battle. The flag still holds the same purpose today. To remember those who have fought, or are currently fighting in our armies. It also serves as a source of pride, motivation, and patriotism towards our country. Knowing what our flag means to our history and our country, we can t possibly keep letting our countries source of pride be disrespected by those attempting to promote their own cause.
