When most think of philosophy a list of people come to mind. You have your greats such as Plato,
Nietzsche, and of course Aristotle. However, this does not mean that their ideas cannot be challenged
and questioned, as no one is above criticism. Aristotelian Virtue Ethics have a major flaw that strikes
at the heart of the idea. There is a severe lack of guidance both in what a virtue is, and what happens
when they conflict. The mains question is, is one virtue more important than another?
What is Aristotle s virtue ethics theory exactly? Aristotle was one of the first to describe this type of
theory and he based it largely on Eudaimonism. Eudaimonism bases virtues in human flourishing,
where flourishing is equated with performing one s distinctive function well (Virtue Ethics). For
humans, Aristotle believed that our main function is reasoning and to live well we would need to
reason well. The largest part of virtue ethics is the titular virtues that decide whether or not a person
was truly flourishing or not.
To first create an argument over the conflict of virtues one must first understand what makes a virtue a
virtue. In Aristotelian Virtue Ethics, a virtue is described as something a virtuous person does. In turn,
a virtuous person is someone who does virtuous acts. This is where a big issue arises in this theory.

program, I have had the opportunity to learn skills and strategies of engagement. I have taken courses
in working with people with disabilities and non native English speakers. These courses have
enlightened me to aspects of life that I did not previously have intimate knowledge of. The courses I
have taken and the skills I have used while completing field placements in local high schools will be
instrumental working in a library. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to challenge myself while
completing two independent studies. The experience challenged me as I worked on a nontraditional
time schedule that required me to remain more focused and work harder than traditional courses. The
papers that resulted from the hard work have proven to myself that I can accomplish my goals and
manage my time in ways that are conducive to maintaining a full schedule and create high quality of
work. At MCLA, I have also been a Professor s teaching assistant helping students research and write
lengthy papers on topics I may not have had extensive knowledge of but I was able to help them
navigate the library and online research

Mongol Trial
In this trial we witnessed how the Mongol empire affected the lives of people in Eurasia. As a jury
member of the trail of Genghis Khan, I have decided that the mongols were civilized due to the
religious tolerance, advancements and stimulation of trade.
There was a common theme on the prosecuting side of lack of religious tolerance from the mongols,
but the witness testimonies were circumstantial to a specific region or rule. It is inevitable for soldiers
and generals to force people to join their own religion, but that does not take away from the overall
religious tolerance of the mongols and their predecessors talked about. There was Buddhist and

collaboration of ideas and thought this would improve the rate of advancements. The ability for the
mongol to effectively build infrastructure and gather philosophers proves the civility of their empire.
The last major point of the defence was the stimulation of trade caused by the mongols. A merchant
talked about the increase of trade in Eurasia. There was an undeniable influx of trade in Asia that was
directly caused by the mongol rule, this was caused by the mongols reopening or revitalizing of the
silk trade routes and the spending of the major mongolian wealth to increase trade through western
Europe and Asia. The revitalizing of trade is evidence that the mongols were civilized to properly
improve the trade routes and protection on the trade routes.
The prosecution also had a good point on the mongolian viciousness and unrelenting destruction of

our planet as we know was not the same a century ago and it will not be the same a decade from now.
Due to this perpetual evolution of our planet s natural cycles, its inhabitants are forced to choose
between adaption or extinction. Meanwhile, an invasive species, or humans, has started a chain of
disasters that are accelerating global changes and, in extension, the crucial selection of existence. Over
the years, the field of natural science has increased human knowledge regarding our negative impact
on the planet. Despite this, humans have taken minimal action towards addressing the problem that,
considered a myth by some, is global warming. Many of us take our planet for granted, not realizing
that, in of its own, it consist of one huge ecosystem relying on all of its parts to function properly.
Because of this interdependence, action must be taken to minimize and raise awareness of global
warming on the arctic region and its resulting effects on ecosystems around the world. Occurring on
the entire planet, global warming affects individual regions at different intensity levels. Places covered

Change in one of the market risk may result in changes in another, which can affect how Walmart
price the product for consumers and it also affect the value of the cost leadership initiatives. By using
cost leadership to leverage operating expenses, increasing productivity and sourcing goods globally at
low, low cost will maximize returns on capital invested. Walmart execute a tight financial expense

I have developed skills such as patience, motivation, management and communication and learned to
work close and interactively with people. These skills would be beneficial and apply to work in

One thing that I may have added was some information about Daniel s past. His parents don t seem
supportive or understanding of him. His father gets upset with him, and cuts off his funding when he
doesn t do well in classes. He then tells Daniel that it s his mother s turn to take care of him. To me, it
seems like neither of his parents really want anything to do with him. I would think that this would
cause Daniel more distress than he shows.
I think that if someone with a disability watched The Other Sister they would think that it sends a
good message. Carla and Daniel aren t perfect or angels like some people think that people with
disabilities are. They are just like neurotypical people in that they have unique strengths and
weaknesses. They really are just their own individual people.
The Other Sister serves as a good reminder that people with disabilities aren t really all that much
different from neurotypical people. I sometimes find myself falling into the trap of thinking that
people with disabilities are innocent or are always in need of help. Just because some people have
disabilities doesn t mean that it s fair of me to hold them all to the same standards. Next time I find
myself generalizing people with disabilities, I will try to step back and see them how they see

They were harassed or threaten to lose their sponsorship to their programming if they didn t follow
directions. However Murrow s honesty and courage was stronger than the harassment made about him
losing his job if he continued to report on controversial issues. Another thing that I also found
