Diabetes Mellitus As A Chronic Disorder
Introduction
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disorder characterized by complete or partial insulin deficiency and/or
cellular resistance to the actions of insulin which results in an accumulation of glucose in the blood
leading to hyperglycemia. Several classifications of medications can be utilized to manage elevated
blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus. Many formulations of insulin are available to manage
blood glucose levels with variations in onset, peak, and duration. Insulin s mechanism of action
promotes cellular uptake of glucose along with potassium and conversion of glucose into glycogen.
Oral antidiabetics have various mechanisms of actions, but ultimately work to increase insulin or alter
carbohydrate metabolism in order to manage blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus
type 2. Other medications for supplemental control of glucose levels are amylin mimetics and incretin
mimetics, which mimic the effects of naturally occurring peptides and can be used with insulin or oral
antidiabetics. Amylin mimetics and incretin mimetics both decrease gastric emptying time and inhibit
secretion of glucagon, but only incretin mimetics increase release of insulin. Amylin mimetics are
used in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, whereas, incretin mimetics are used only with type 2
diabetes. In contrast to the above medications, hyperglycemic agents are utilized to manage
hypoglycemia by increasing the breakdown of glycogen into glucose in order to

Hardware Efficient Delta Sigma Linear Processing Circuits
Abstract: This paper presents hardware efficient Delta Sigma linear processing circuits for the next
generation low power VLSI device in the Internet of things (IoT). We first propose the P N pair
method to manipulate both the analog value and length of a first order Delta Sigma bit sequence. We
then present a binary counter method. Based on these methods, we develop Delta Sigma domain on
the fly digital signal processing circuits: the Delta Sigma sum adder, average adder, and coefficient
multiplier. The counter based average adder can work with both first order and higher order Delta
Sigma modulators and can also be used as a coefficient multiplier. The functionalities of the proposed
circuits are verified by Matlab simulation and FPGA implementation. We also compare the area and
power between the proposed Delta Sigma adders and a conventional multi bit adder by synthesizing
both circuits in the IBM 0.18 µm technology. Synthesis results show that the proposed Delta Sigma
processing circuits can extensively reduce circuit area and power. With 100 inputs, a Delta Sigma
average adder saves 94% of the silicon area and 96% of the power compared to a multi bit binary
adder. The proposed circuits have the potential to be widely used in future miniaturized low power
VLSI circuits.

Color Coded Behavior Chart In The Classroom
Take a cursory glance in almost any elementary school classroom and you are bound to find some
version of the color coded behavior chart. Whether it be a stop light with clothespins, a colored card
bulletin board, or any other variation; this method of classroom behavior management is exceedingly
popular in the education world. While the behavior chart itself has many variations, the rules are
generally the same. Every day, each child begins on a good color (usually green) and, according to
their instructor s interpretation of their behavior throughout the day, they either move up or down the
chart to other colors. Each color is assigned a level of good or bad and they may or may not have
some consequence attached to them. A popular variation

Issues In The Ballet World

Research Paper Issues in the Ballet World
The world of ballet is generally seen as the art of stick thin, white, high class girls dressed in pointe
shoes, glamorous tutus, and tiaras, dancing with their prince in the spotlight. Considering the history
of ballet, it is not surprising that it has gained this reputation. The term ballet blanc originates from the
excessive use of white in many professional ballets. As glamorous as it is, ballet has been considered
racist since many non white dancers do not seem to fit the body type standards created by George
Balanchine. This ideal body type describes what is perceived to be the perfect ballet body. In recent
years, the issues of ballet s lack of diversity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even now, ballets are considered an art form that only the decently wealthy can ever enjoy. With all
the sparkling diamonds and jewels, pointe shoes, glamorous makeup, extravagant theaters, and
costumes, it is not surprising that wealth is also commonly associated with ballet. The high ticket
prices serve as the main reason why very few people other than the rich are exposed to the art, thus
discouraging people of a lower economic status to ever experience it. For instance, to see something
as iconic as the Nutcracker, one ticket could start around $100 $150. In order to take classes, get the
proper attire, buy costumes, and makeup, it could cost families quite a lot of money, even in a small
local company. Bigger companies, such as the New York City Ballet have classes that start at about
$100 a class, and since many professional/semi professional dancers are required to take a class every
day of the week, it would be roughly $700 for a week, if that dancer only takes one class a day. This
high rate for classes limits how many people are able to partake in ballet, but even if someone with a
diverse background is able to pay this price, they might still be turned away from companies and
productions since some companies do not accept minorities. It is not the fact that there are fewer
minorities in the US that could contribute to the lack of color in ballet, in fact, it is the complete
opposite. The race demographics of the US from the 1980 s to around 2010 show that there has been a
5.07% increase of people of Spanish descent, a 1.08% increase of African Americans, and a constant
increase of people who are of Asian descent. Even with these increases in numbers, most companies
have not become more diverse, but while some companies have evolved, not many have changed

Causes Of The Stonewall Riots
For many years, the LGBT community, standing for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, in
America has suffered injustice after injustice at the hands of those who choose to discriminate against
them. But the aggression towards homosexuals came to a boiling point in New York in the late 1960s.
One of the most well known of these homophobic events were the riots just outside the Stonewall Inn
on Christopher Street in New York. Many historians, such as Duberman and Deitcher, would place the
blame solely on the police force however, the police raids were responsible for the Stonewall riots in
1969 to a small extent because other factors such as the legal discrimination of homosexuals, and the
media s censorship of the gay movement had a much stronger impact leading to the most influential
gay rights riot in US history.
The Stonewall riots were a series of riots that occurred in late June of 1969 when the New York City
Police entered the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar located in what is known as the Village, with the
intent to arrest the employees for serving alcohol without the proper liquor license. The Village is a
combination of Greenwich Village and Harlem where a considerable homosexual population stayed. It
is a staple in the Stonewall riots because this is where Stonewall Inn resided and where the eventual
Stonewall Riots occurred. Not having a license was often used as an excuse by the NYPD to raid local
gay bars, such as the Checkerboard or the Stonewall Inn.

Why Columbus Day Disgusting Summary
Katie Williams World Civilizations I Amanda Smith 30 April 2016 A Logical Account of Why
Columbus Day is Disgusting In 1491: New Revelations of The Americas Before Columbus, Charles
C. Mann attempts to rewrite the traditional narrative of the America s before the arrival of the
Europeans. By focusing on the mistakes of other writings, and creating a new concept of the New
World, as well as explaining the life of Puritans in New England, and human intervention in
landscapes, Mann does an impressive job at creating a readable, factual account of what life before
Columbus was really like. One of the most interesting, immediate things Mann says about the Indians
is that they broke one of their own rules out of desperation. There were rules in place about the Indians
not trading with the colonists, or letting them stay passed their welcome, but out of fear of going to
war with their biggest enemies, they abandoned, and almost reversed these rules. This alone says a lot
about the legitimacy of the stories believed of the Indians. Many tales of the Indians before Columbus
make the Indians seem uneducated, uncultured, and sparse in numbers. These stories have alluded to a
small, nomadic group of Indians welcoming Columbus into their homes with open arms and no
questions. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the same for the early inhabitants of America. They were not nomads, in fact they had large
towns and agricultural centers flourishing at the time of the European arrival. The remnants of these
places were quickly lost due to the changing of climate, but recent studies have proven that human
beings flourished there. They improved their soil in order to grow crops, and shaped the jungles in the
way that they needed. The societies that were forming at the time of Columbus arrival were not

Oral history is the recording, preservation, and interpretation of historical information (What). The key
word is this definition is interpretation, while oral history can state events and people from past
generations it is more the personal experiences and opinions of the person telling it. Like many other
forms of sources, it does not always state straight facts. Numerous stories in the form of oral history
can be folktales which is a tale passed down from a group of people, these tales are usually based on
superstition (Written). Instead of paper being passed down through generations in a book, oral history
is passed mouth by mouth (What). A good analogy for this way of conveying stories is the game
whisper down the lane . While a the general idea of the words or story can reach the end, or the
present generation, words can be changed, and so can the truth of the story. It is not, however, only
oral history which may not be completely accurate, all documents of past stories add personal
viewpoints and adjusted storylines. A book like Sundiata may not be one hundred percent accurate to
the reality of its time, but it is useful

Apology Analysis

Socrates thinks that it requires wisdom to know the difference between the knowledge and an opinion.
And what he means by that is knowledge is based on reasoned ideas beliefs, and can be proved and
confirmed by rational arguments, where s other opinion is not proved. For Socrates, the reason is the

Watchman Style Of Policing
According to Criminal Justice Today by Frank Schmalleger, a style of policing describes how a
particular agency sees its purpose and chooses the methods it uses to fulfill that purpose . There are
four main types of policing styles: the watchman style, the legalistic style, the service style, and the
police community relations style.
The watchman style function is to place an importance on maintaining order through informal police
intervention and relies on threats or persuasion to resolve disputes. This style of policing is normally
found in rural areas and blue collar communities with a diverse population. Officers in a watchman
style agency exercise a liberal amount of discretion to keep the order. In other words, certain crimes
go unnoticed based on the seriousness of the offense. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, they used a formal approach and emphasized their role on traditional crime fighting and use
very little discretion. In addition, they pride themselves on being professional. The legalistic style is
typical found in bigger cities and is popular with state police agencies. An example of this policing
style is, an officer stops you for going five miles over the speed limit, they will issue you a speeding
citation. Agencies utilizing this method of policing expect the officers to make a lot of arrests and

Elizabeth I s Reforms
The English Reformation of the sixteenth century was one of the most drastic religious reforms in
England. During this time, the Tudor Dynasty swept England from Roman Catholicism into the arms
of Protestantism. However, such a massive change did not come without strife.
The Tudor Dynasty began with King Henry VII. After defeating Richard III and ending the War of the
Roses, Henry united the warring Lancaster and York factions under the Tudor Rose. Henry and his
wife Elizabeth had four children: Arthur, Margaret, Henry, and Mary. After Henry VII s death, his
firstborn son Arthur ascended to the throne and married his betrothed, Catherine of Aragon. Mere
months after the marriage, Arthur died from illness. Henry VIII took his place and married the
widowed Catherine (History.com Staff, Henry VIII )
Catherine bore three sons and three daughters, but only her daughter Mary survived. Henry became
infuriated with his lack of a male heir and began to stray. He feared that God had cursed Catherine, as
the Old Testament forbade marrying a brother s widow. His eye landed upon a young noblewoman
named Anne Boleyn. He sought to marry her, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some Protestants saw Elizabeth I s reforms as inadequate; they called the Church halfly reformed.
They removed themselves from the Church of England and sought their own spiritual outlets, such as
Puritanism, which aimed to remove all dredges of Catholicism from the Church. The dissenting
populace was negligible, though, and England remained unified under the Protestant religion. By the
time Elizabeth s reign drew to a close, English citizens respected and loved their Church, seeing it as a
cornerstone of their identity. The significance of this Protestant identity was carried into English
culture as well: Protestant festivals replaced Catholic holidays, such as Elizabeth s day of accession,
the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, and the day England defeated the Spanish Armada

Sacrifice In Charles Dickens A Tale Of Two Cites
Charles Dickens novel A Tale of Two Cites had multiple themes, motifs, symbols, and allusions built
around one or more characters, including the theme of no sacrifice, no victory. Sacrifices were used all
throughout the book whether it was to help a revolutionary mob overthrow the king and queen or to
say the husband of the person you love. Either way, they helped moved the plot along in a unique way
the only Charles Dickens was able to master. Charles Darnay was one of the few characters to make a
sacrifice but he sacrificed various things like his family name. Obviously, Charles was one of the last
people who wanted to be an Evremonde due to the cruel things his family did, including to his father
in law. However, he could have been apart of his family and be super rich. Thankfully for him, he
ditched his family, found Lucie, and had a father in law that would not hate him for what his family
did. Later on, he decided to make another sacrifice by telling Manette about his family, the family that

powerfully people killed but so was anyone who could possible be a threat to the revolution. After
capturing these people and putting them in jail, they would got to a trial where they were most likely
found guilty and then were killed. However, the red caps also had to make sacrifices of their own like
to starve themselves due to the expensive goods. This was explained when the wine casket bust out
into the streets and flooded them. The people were literally starved and had an unquenchable thirst for

Net Neutrality And The Freedom Of The Internet
In order to understand what the issues the governments face it s important that people understand what
the internet access is and how Net Neutrality plays an immense role in freedom of the internet. In
FreePress (2017) define Net Neutrality to be the basic principle that internet service providers of ISP s
will not be able allowed to speed up, slow down, or block any website that you wish to access. The
basic principle implies that people will have control over what websites they choose without having
the media companies infringe on their privacy or access by slowing it down or shutting it down. As the
internet facilitates freedom of speech it s important the people have a platform that will allow people
to partake in a sacred democratic value. In providing access for people to communicate online, the
internet service providers should provide open networks and should not be able to block or
discriminate against any application or the content that is displayed on the network. In the United
States, freedom of speech is an inherent privilege afforded to us as one of our constitutional rights.
These rights, specifically the 1st amendment, allow us to voice our thoughts whether these thoughts
are expressed through writing or speaking. Having the internet, is one of the many platforms that
allows us use of our constitutional right, and to restrict our access is censorship. A censorship of our
ideologies and in turn a violation of our constitutional rights. This ideology

The Movie World War Z Is A Zombie Apocalyptic Horror Film...
The movie World War Z is a zombie apocalyptic horror film directed by Marc Forster. The movie was
loosely based off of Max Brook s novel of the same name. Overall, it accrued positive reviews with a
successful box office. Steve Persall applauded its aesthetic features, as it offers vivid images of what
these monsters are about and what they re capable of doing . Matt Zoller Seitz, on the other hand,
argues that [it s] as if someone watched the similar 28 Days Later and thought, That was a good
movie, but it would be better if it cost $200 million. The critics generally agree that it is an action
movie as the zombies twitch, leap, gnash, and destroy (Chris Cabin Slant Magazine). But they
disagree on the appropriate rating and whether the film was, overall, satisfying in producing
something original. It is balanced in violence and carnage, but keeps it friendly and evades images of
blood and gore (Chris Cabin). Its special effects and horror aesthetics give the feel of a science fiction
horror and action film as they were meant to evoke awe. World War Z is a good film and is packed
with action, suspense, horror, and visual appeal. The action within the movie is very fast paced, and it
begins during a Gerry Lane s family commute in Philadelphia. Gerry Lane (portrayed by Brad Pitt)
and his family fight to leave the congested streets that are filled with exponentially growing infected

The Definition Of Employer Of Choice
The actual definition of Employer of Choice (EOC) is debatable from web site to web site and opinion
based. The Herman Group awards a certificate to employers titled the Employer of Choice Award
when they are recognized for their leadership, culture and best practices that attract, optimize and hold
top talent, achieving corporate objectives(Home, n.d.). An employer obtains this recognition by going
through an application process that screens the company s employees. The Herman Group describes
the award as people will want to work for you and will consciously stay with you even if they are
being recruited from other agencies for more money or compensation. Many EOC companies have
similar appeals where they attract and retain the best talent, but one employee s EOC many not be the
same as another s (Healthfield, 2015) . According to the book, Human Resource Management,
employees have different life choices and occupation paths at different stages of their career, (Lussier
Hendon, 2016). Which means the definitions of employer of choice is different from person to person
and at different stages of their lives. To a potential employee, a company that satisfies the criteria for
pay, benefits, work hours and vacation time but does not have a healthy culture, growth opportunity or
rewards system that fits the person s life style and personality may not rank high as an EOC. On the
other hand, a company that pays less and does not have a fantastic benefits plan but fits

The Theory Of Functional Analysis
The word Church to a religious person has more meaning than just a building where people meet once
a week. To a religious person the word Church means the body of Christ. The body of Christ is made
up of every person s personal strengths that work together to form the entire body to live out a
purpose. Church s operate on this manner; they do not see one another as superior necessarily, but
rather everyone as equal and possessing their own strengths to create a fully operational team to
glorify God. However, sometimes this system does not function correctly because of various issues
such as a struggle for power, contrasting views and opinions, or lack of effort by people. We can apple
the theory of functional analysis to the issues that arise in the Church. Functional analysis is the theory
that society is made of many parts that work together to reach sociological equilibrium. This theory
can be applied to how the Church operates because every person within the Church must do his or her
specific job in order for the church to remain in equilibrium. When people work together there are
beneficial consequences of people s actions also known as functions. An example of this would be the
high school leadership team I am on at my church. The entire mission of this leadership team is to
make the high school group enjoyable for the high school students to keep returning to learn more
about Jesus. When this team collectively works together by doing what strengths they posses

Lester B. Pearson and the Suez Canal Crisis
The Suez crisis was a conflict that could have easily turned into a third World War. With a battle
between the Israelis and Egyptians at Sinai, the British and French invasion of Egypt, and nuclear
threats from the Soviet Union, all of the elements were present to escalate the conflict and pull other
countries into the fray. Canada had no direct ties to the Suez crisis, in terms of control or economic
interest. However, Canadian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Lester B. Pearson, persuaded the
UN General Assembly to send in the United Nations Emergency Force. Even though Lester B.

fighting or the two Western powers will intervene . On the 31st of October this ultimatum expires and
France and Britain attack, bombing Alexandria and sending in thousands of troops. Russia then
threatens Britain and France with Nuclear weapons. At this point it looks as though the world is on the
brink of another World War.
Canada had no interest to the Suez crisis, in terms of control, economic or military interest, but Lester

Canada worked towards building an agreement for the proposal to the UN, on the Suez Crisis.

monks they picture peace, prayer, and silence not cleaning guns or having anything to do with
violence. I think it s a case of situational irony because monks wouldn t be cleaning M 60 s. Chapter

Examples Of Revised Clergy
Revised clergy essay People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self centered. Forgive them
anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. If you
are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful,
you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you find serenity
and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today will often be
forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have and it will never be enough. Give your best

explained as follows: It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your
brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God.
... (Romans 14:21 23 NKJV http://bible.com/114/rom.14.21 22.nkjv). Simply put, clergies must live
by their faith in God. This is also applicable to tithing (giving), as a clergymen (and all other
Christians) would give what has been predetermined in their hearts, no more, no less to the chosen
cause. In fact, some clergies have convictions about accepting any pay for work do in the church! It
seems crazy: the idea of working a second job after hours of labor is not for the faint of heart, but for
those who are convinced it is what God has called them to do, it becomes a passionate endeavor.
Coupled with certain convictions and preferences over pay, a clergy might also in effect have to crop
out some of the more luxurious articles of first world life or maybe first world life in total (as in the
instance of many 3rd world missionaries), regarding this, sacrifices are made by all those who follow
this career path. Furthermore, clergies often do not have large amounts of job security as their career is

Difference Between the Maori People and the Kiwi s Culture...
New Zealand is an island country in the South Western Pacific Ocean and it is located east of
Australia. The country is small, similar in size with Great Britain or Japan, and their population is of
four million people (wikipedia.org). According to australiareiser.no, New Zealand is known for being
a clean country with a lot of green nature, high mountains, waterfalls, rivers and fjords. New Zealand
can be compared to Norway. It has a lot of similarities, but what separates them, are New Zealand s
bamboos, palm trees, long white beaches, spouting geysers and active volcanoes.
For my assignment, I have chosen to research the difference between the Maori people and the kiwi s
culture. For this, the history of these two people are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many tourists visit New Zealand just to see and experience their culture. In a report from
Kwintessential.co.uk, it is written: A Maori will spontaneously launch into speech and song. Even
though they may not have met each other, they will know many songs they can sing together and often
use these to close or enhance speeches. They will often call for visitors to do the same and it would be
wise to have 2 or 3 practiced songs from your own country to reply with.
In addition to the Maoris speeches and songs, they have a dance called Haka . It is an ancient war
dance used on the battlefield and when groups came together in peace. According to newzealand.com,
the dance include violent foot stamping, tongue protrusions and rhythmic body slapping to accompany
a loud chant. It shows a tribe s pride, strength and unity. New Zealand s rugby team All Blacks,
performs the Haka dance to challenge the opponents on the sports field before their matches
(allblacks.com).
Another big part of the Maoris culture, is art. Their visual art consists of weaving, carving, tattooing
and painting. According to Wikipedia.org, their art is highly spiritual and the creation of art is
governed by the rules of Tapu. There are a lot of different styles of art, and they vary from region to
region. The most common and traditional art is highly stylized and featured motifs such as the spiral,
the chevron and the koru. There are three dominating colors black, white and red.

A Review Of Moral Competence Leadership
A REVIEW OF MORAL COMPETENCE LEADERSHIP Introduction: Moral competence does not
have a unique definition. However, in simple words moral competence is an ability that judges the
thing is correct or wrong. Mental capacity, universal human principles golden rule, altruism and
measured against are connected to moral competence. In following part, definitions and relatedness
will be mentioned. 1. Mental capacity: Mental capacity refers to decisions made by patients, which
have a moral and legal status as decisions. (Owen e al., 2007) for example, people have the mental
capacity, thus they are able to make their own decisions and able to understand the information
relevant to the decision. This concept connected to moral competence because ... Show more content

(Cohen, 2001) To further explain, universal human principles are an accepted or acknowledged
regulation of behavior and this principle is common around the universal society. Utilitarianism
considers a behavior, ethical if it results in the greatest good for the greatest number. Categorical
imperative which asks whether a universal law can people made from the behavior. Justice refers to
treating everyone equally. This concept connected to moral competence, since application of universal
human principles is one of the stages of moral competence. At this stage we determine how to apply
principles of utilitarianism, the categorical imperative, right theory and justice in our behavior,
personal goals as well as values. Thus, universal human principles is connected to mental capacity and
moral competence, due to it is the second stage of moral competence. 3. Golden rule: The golden rule
says Treat others as you want to be treated. The idea is global. It s common to all major world
religions; Confucius, Hillel, Jesus and many others used it to sum up how to live (Gensler et al, 2013).
In other words Golden rule describes what should we behave and how to treat others in an equal or
two way relationship and it is common around the world. Golden rule is connected to Universal
human principles and moral competence. Universal human principles like those embodied by the

Emily Dickinson s Poem Success Is Counted Sweetest
Emily Dickinson s poem Success is Counted Sweetest displays the theme that in order to understand
the taste of success, one s knowledge of the taste of failure must exceed that of success. Dickinson s
poem Success is Counted Sweetest deals with how one attains success and only those who fail more
often than they succeed can truly understand the beauty of success. To portray this, Dickinson uses
imagery, or the use of the senses to express her theme, within this writing. Specifically, Dickinson
describes fathoming success as [t]o comprehend a nectar / Requires sorest need (3 4). The sense she
appeals to in these lines is taste when Dickinson compares the comprehension of nectar to the sweet
taste of success. She is correlating the literal

Essay on Comparing Love after Love and This Room
Comparing Love after Love and This Room
The two poems with which I compare each other are both poems of celebration. Celebration of life,
love and your identity. The first is
Love after Love by Derek Walcott. This poem is about self discovery.
Walcott suggests that we spend years assuming an identity, but eventually discover who we really are
and this is like two different people meeting and making friends and sharing a meal together. Walcott
presents this in terms of the love feast or Eucharist of the Christian church Eat...Give wine. Give
bread. And it is not clear whether this other person is merely human or in some way divine, this is also
an imperative which would suggest that they are divine and so have a

As this route is too boring and predictable for this newfound liberated mind.
The first line in Love.. is,
The time will come
When, with elation,
You will greet yourself arriving,
at your own door,
a line foretelling that eventually you will recognise who you are.
Whether this will take a mirror or whether a person will realise who they really are through their own
head and deep inside their own souls. It also suggests that you shouldn t care about others opinions
with the line in your own mirror.. which makes you wonder How do I see myself? which I thought
could be trying to question basic human ideas, why do people look at who they are in the first person,
why is the person whose eyes they see through them?! What makes them that individual? The answers
here are clear, a love for life, for one s self and what they feel within their soul. Both poems, I felt
used techniques to suggest being unique. For example, In This Room the author uses extensive use of
caesura, using punctuation in the middle of a line, and enjambment, a technique by which you don t
use normal punctuation at the end of each sentence, thus creating a flowing and textured piece of
poetry. With these techniques, Dharker has created flowing text, I think that this might be a suggestion
that life flows quickly and that you should take advantage of it because of this.
The second stanza suggests that one

What Is The Hypothesis Of Second Language Acquisition
Introduction Language acquisition theory (TAKE OFF)
Through the linguistic lenses, Stephen Kristen created an article based on second language acquisition
theories on how humans develop an additional language and/or languages. Several hypotheses that
exist on this topic, but one of them is relevant to how a second language is acquired. The Acquisition
Learning Hypothesis broadly emphasises two different languages can be acquired: 1) acquire the
language, 2) learn the language (Krashen, p. 1). This article states that language acquisition
...subconsciously. While it is happening, we are not aware that it is happening. We think we are having
a conversation, reading a book, watching a movie. Of course, we are, but at the same time, we might
be acquiring language. (Krashen, p. 1). Kristen indicates that acquisition is essentially picking up a
language. And it is. For instance, when someone says, I was in Germany for a bit and I picked up
some German. It means he or she acquired that language. Language is commonly defined as the
ability to communicate in a second language. Kristen states that it is ...a conscious process: When we
are learning, we know we are learning and we are trying to learn... When grammar, rules and
pronunciation are involved, we are talking about learning (Ibid).
There have been differences found in how adults retrieve information in the stages of second language
learning such as how adults are faster to produce language two (L2) words from language

holidays around here as much as anyone, but there are some holidays that, in my opinion, should not
be celebrated. Columbus Day is one of those holidays I believe should not be celebrated for many

Title: Volatile Organic Compound detection using Graphene: Determining the Fruit Ripeness
1 Introduction
Fruits are commercially vital and nutritionally crucial food constituent. Forming an element of a
balanced diet, fruits supply essential growth governing factors required for good health and play a
critical role in human nutrition. Distributed widely in nature, their economic values are influenced by
comparatively short ripening period and short post harvest life. The assessment and maintenance of
the quality of fruits and vegetables are very difficult task. The timely detection of fruit ripeness is very
important as it is related to the profitability and also competitiveness of the producers as well as
processors. During harvesting and handling it is common that fruits are subject to damage because it is

Religion and Morality
RELIGION AND MORALITY
(i)Examine the views of scholars concerning the idea that religion and morality are linked. In this
essay I am going to be looking at all the different view points on why some people may think religion
and morality are linked. I will talk about a few things that link them such as conscience, divine
command ethics, Kant s view and Aquinas view. Many people believe that morality is based upon
religion and the rules written in the Bible and other holy books, although some say that religion is
completely opposed to morality and it is wrong to mix the two.
Some scholars believe there are three views on the relationship between religion and morality, one of
them being that morality depends on religion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moral opinions are judged against religious teachings.
Even secular society adopts or is influenced by religious moral teachings, for example, it seeks
guidance from religious leaders in moral matters such as genetic engineering/abortion.
In conclusion the strongest view to me is Social Conditioning, in which morality is independent of
religion. I believe that peoples morality comes from the environment that they are brought up in, and
the people around them such as parents and teachers. From a very young age we are taught what is
right and wrong, and grow up respecting the law and people around us more than God.
(ii)Comment on the view that religion and morality are not linked. Euthyphro s Dilemma was that the
problem of whether something is good because God commands it, or does God command that which
is good. Do that God s love that which is holy, or is it holy because it is loved by the God s Plato.
Almost all Christians will say something is good because God says so, his commands must be obeyed.
A Christian s dilemma is that either good is a whim or good is something that dictates to God. So if a
Christian interprets that it is God s will to murder, they think they are justified because it is God s
choice.
A.C Grayling believes that religious morality is irrelevant to modern society because what people
value has changed. He thinks that modern morality includes a great concern for human rights, animal

Essay on Marriage in Pamela and Fanny Hill
Marriage is the only available and acceptable option for the eighteenth century heroine . Is this true?
Class and gender chiefly governed British society in the eighteenth century and the opportunities for a
woman to achieve social and financial security were scarce. In this society men of the upper class
governed the female identity. This patriarchal climate stipulated that, a respectable woman was
nothing but the potential mother of children (Blease 7). In the context of eighteenth century British
society, this prescribed duty implied marriage first and was shortly followed by procreation and duties
relating to family life. Although marriage and maternity provided the only socially acceptable path for
women during this time, some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pamela equates being kept mistress to slavery and confides in her parents claiming that she would
rather be obliged to wear rags, and live upon rye bread and water, as I used to do, than to be a harlot to
the greatest man in the world (Richardson). As a lower class servant girl, becoming a mistress to a
powerful aristocratic gentleman had the potential to invite [Pamela s] ruin (Richardson). Thus, the
only options available to Pamela that would not guarantee her ruin were to cling to her virtue or
solidify her position through marriage.
While Pamela s upstanding virtue provides the model behaviour for young ladies of the time, Cleland
s heroine sustains herself through the socially unacceptable act of prostitution. Although Fanny Hill is
a pornographic novel intended to arouse its male readership, Cleland s text is essentially anti Pamelist
in its account of Fanny s life. Richardson offers his heroine multiple opportunities to flee the
unwelcome advances of Mr B from Mr William s proposal of marriage to Mr B s offer to take Pamela
as his mistress, both of which she refuses. Fanny, on the other hand, is forced out of poverty into the
line of sex work. She relinquishes her hold on virtue, telling the reader that

Disappointment In Madame Bovary
One of the most common emotions humans have is disappointment, or the feeling of dissatisfaction
and emptiness. Most often, this feeling comes through the loss of love. For example, breaking up with
your partner can leave you feeling defeated and lonely. Once this happens, one usually attempts to
move on and forget about that person, sometimes in the way of finding someone to fill their void in
their empty heart. In Gustave Flaubert s master novel Madame Bovary, there are multiple encounters
with dissatisfaction that creates the theme of disappointment. The two main characters that Flaubert
uses to show dissatisfaction through are Emma Bovary, also known as Madame Bovary, and Charles
Bovary. Emma Bovary seems to be faced with empty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also shows the conflict of how Flaubert never allows Emma to be in a grasping distance of her
desired satisfaction. She is continually always so close to her longing desire, but can never quite grab
it. The reader gets one of the first glimpses at her disappointment several weeks after the Vaubyessard
Ball, still dreaming about the magical night she had. From the beginning of July she counted on her
fingers how many weeks remained before October, thinking that the Marquis d Andervilliers would
perhaps give another ball at Vaubyessard. But September passed by without one letter or visit. After
the distress of this disappointment, her heart once more remained empty (79). That night at the ball
gave Emma a feeling like no other of how love should feel and look like. It seems like from that point
on, she has a concrete idea of what love is. With the ball still humming in her ears, she was trying to
stay awake in order to prolong the illusion of this luxurious life (79). This longing to back to such an
illusion shows that Emma is continually being pulled away from Charles and toward something she
can t attain. She continues to drift away from Charles a greater amount once she begins her affair with
Rodolphe. All was going well with Rodolphe until, of course, Emma lost interest, along with
Rodolphe losing his love for her and only

  • 2. Diabetes Mellitus As A Chronic Disorder Introduction Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disorder characterized by complete or partial insulin deficiency and/or cellular resistance to the actions of insulin which results in an accumulation of glucose in the blood leading to hyperglycemia. Several classifications of medications can be utilized to manage elevated blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus. Many formulations of insulin are available to manage blood glucose levels with variations in onset, peak, and duration. Insulin s mechanism of action promotes cellular uptake of glucose along with potassium and conversion of glucose into glycogen. Oral antidiabetics have various mechanisms of actions, but ultimately work to increase insulin or alter carbohydrate metabolism in order to manage blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. Other medications for supplemental control of glucose levels are amylin mimetics and incretin mimetics, which mimic the effects of naturally occurring peptides and can be used with insulin or oral antidiabetics. Amylin mimetics and incretin mimetics both decrease gastric emptying time and inhibit secretion of glucagon, but only incretin mimetics increase release of insulin. Amylin mimetics are used in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, whereas, incretin mimetics are used only with type 2 diabetes. In contrast to the above medications, hyperglycemic agents are utilized to manage hypoglycemia by increasing the breakdown of glycogen into glucose in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hardware Efficient Delta Sigma Linear Processing Circuits Abstract: This paper presents hardware efficient Delta Sigma linear processing circuits for the next generation low power VLSI device in the Internet of things (IoT). We first propose the P N pair method to manipulate both the analog value and length of a first order Delta Sigma bit sequence. We then present a binary counter method. Based on these methods, we develop Delta Sigma domain on the fly digital signal processing circuits: the Delta Sigma sum adder, average adder, and coefficient multiplier. The counter based average adder can work with both first order and higher order Delta Sigma modulators and can also be used as a coefficient multiplier. The functionalities of the proposed circuits are verified by Matlab simulation and FPGA implementation. We also compare the area and power between the proposed Delta Sigma adders and a conventional multi bit adder by synthesizing both circuits in the IBM 0.18 µm technology. Synthesis results show that the proposed Delta Sigma processing circuits can extensively reduce circuit area and power. With 100 inputs, a Delta Sigma average adder saves 94% of the silicon area and 96% of the power compared to a multi bit binary adder. The proposed circuits have the potential to be widely used in future miniaturized low power VLSI circuits. Keywords: VLSI, Delta Sigma Modulation, Digital Signal Processing, Adder, Coefficient Multiplier, Low power Low complexity Circuits. 1. Introduction Internet of Things (IoT) demand ubiquitous ... • 4. Color Coded Behavior Chart In The Classroom Take a cursory glance in almost any elementary school classroom and you are bound to find some version of the color coded behavior chart. Whether it be a stop light with clothespins, a colored card bulletin board, or any other variation; this method of classroom behavior management is exceedingly popular in the education world. While the behavior chart itself has many variations, the rules are generally the same. Every day, each child begins on a good color (usually green) and, according to their instructor s interpretation of their behavior throughout the day, they either move up or down the chart to other colors. Each color is assigned a level of good or bad and they may or may not have some consequence attached to them. A popular variation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Issues In The Ballet World Jonina Yang Dr. Houser Research Paper Issues in the Ballet World The world of ballet is generally seen as the art of stick thin, white, high class girls dressed in pointe shoes, glamorous tutus, and tiaras, dancing with their prince in the spotlight. Considering the history of ballet, it is not surprising that it has gained this reputation. The term ballet blanc originates from the excessive use of white in many professional ballets. As glamorous as it is, ballet has been considered racist since many non white dancers do not seem to fit the body type standards created by George Balanchine. This ideal body type describes what is perceived to be the perfect ballet body. In recent years, the issues of ballet s lack of diversity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even now, ballets are considered an art form that only the decently wealthy can ever enjoy. With all the sparkling diamonds and jewels, pointe shoes, glamorous makeup, extravagant theaters, and costumes, it is not surprising that wealth is also commonly associated with ballet. The high ticket prices serve as the main reason why very few people other than the rich are exposed to the art, thus discouraging people of a lower economic status to ever experience it. For instance, to see something as iconic as the Nutcracker, one ticket could start around $100 $150. In order to take classes, get the proper attire, buy costumes, and makeup, it could cost families quite a lot of money, even in a small local company. Bigger companies, such as the New York City Ballet have classes that start at about $100 a class, and since many professional/semi professional dancers are required to take a class every day of the week, it would be roughly $700 for a week, if that dancer only takes one class a day. This high rate for classes limits how many people are able to partake in ballet, but even if someone with a diverse background is able to pay this price, they might still be turned away from companies and productions since some companies do not accept minorities. It is not the fact that there are fewer minorities in the US that could contribute to the lack of color in ballet, in fact, it is the complete opposite. The race demographics of the US from the 1980 s to around 2010 show that there has been a 5.07% increase of people of Spanish descent, a 1.08% increase of African Americans, and a constant increase of people who are of Asian descent. Even with these increases in numbers, most companies have not become more diverse, but while some companies have evolved, not many have changed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Causes Of The Stonewall Riots For many years, the LGBT community, standing for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, in America has suffered injustice after injustice at the hands of those who choose to discriminate against them. But the aggression towards homosexuals came to a boiling point in New York in the late 1960s. One of the most well known of these homophobic events were the riots just outside the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street in New York. Many historians, such as Duberman and Deitcher, would place the blame solely on the police force however, the police raids were responsible for the Stonewall riots in 1969 to a small extent because other factors such as the legal discrimination of homosexuals, and the media s censorship of the gay movement had a much stronger impact leading to the most influential gay rights riot in US history. The Stonewall riots were a series of riots that occurred in late June of 1969 when the New York City Police entered the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar located in what is known as the Village, with the intent to arrest the employees for serving alcohol without the proper liquor license. The Village is a combination of Greenwich Village and Harlem where a considerable homosexual population stayed. It is a staple in the Stonewall riots because this is where Stonewall Inn resided and where the eventual Stonewall Riots occurred. Not having a license was often used as an excuse by the NYPD to raid local gay bars, such as the Checkerboard or the Stonewall Inn. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Why Columbus Day Disgusting Summary Katie Williams World Civilizations I Amanda Smith 30 April 2016 A Logical Account of Why Columbus Day is Disgusting In 1491: New Revelations of The Americas Before Columbus, Charles C. Mann attempts to rewrite the traditional narrative of the America s before the arrival of the Europeans. By focusing on the mistakes of other writings, and creating a new concept of the New World, as well as explaining the life of Puritans in New England, and human intervention in landscapes, Mann does an impressive job at creating a readable, factual account of what life before Columbus was really like. One of the most interesting, immediate things Mann says about the Indians is that they broke one of their own rules out of desperation. There were rules in place about the Indians not trading with the colonists, or letting them stay passed their welcome, but out of fear of going to war with their biggest enemies, they abandoned, and almost reversed these rules. This alone says a lot about the legitimacy of the stories believed of the Indians. Many tales of the Indians before Columbus make the Indians seem uneducated, uncultured, and sparse in numbers. These stories have alluded to a small, nomadic group of Indians welcoming Columbus into their homes with open arms and no questions. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Watchman Style Of Policing According to Criminal Justice Today by Frank Schmalleger, a style of policing describes how a particular agency sees its purpose and chooses the methods it uses to fulfill that purpose . There are four main types of policing styles: the watchman style, the legalistic style, the service style, and the police community relations style. The watchman style function is to place an importance on maintaining order through informal police intervention and relies on threats or persuasion to resolve disputes. • 11. Elizabeth I s Reforms The English Reformation of the sixteenth century was one of the most drastic religious reforms in England. During this time, the Tudor Dynasty swept England from Roman Catholicism into the arms of Protestantism. However, such a massive change did not come without strife. The Tudor Dynasty began with King Henry VII. After defeating Richard III and ending the War of the Roses, Henry united the warring Lancaster and York factions under the Tudor Rose. Henry and his wife Elizabeth had four children: Arthur, Margaret, Henry, and Mary. After Henry VII s death, his firstborn son Arthur ascended to the throne and married his betrothed, Catherine of Aragon. Mere months after the marriage, Arthur died from illness. Henry VIII took his place and married the widowed Catherine (History.com Staff, Henry VIII ) Catherine bore three sons and three daughters, but only her daughter Mary survived. Henry became infuriated with his lack of a male heir and began to stray. He feared that God had cursed Catherine, as the Old Testament forbade marrying a brother s widow. By the time Elizabeth s reign drew to a close, English citizens respected and loved their Church, seeing it as a cornerstone of their identity. Sacrifice In Charles Dickens A Tale Of Two Cites Charles Dickens novel A Tale of Two Cites had multiple themes, motifs, symbols, and allusions built around one or more characters, including the theme of no sacrifice, no victory. Sacrifices were used all throughout the book whether it was to help a revolutionary mob overthrow the king and queen or to say the husband of the person you love. Either way, they helped moved the plot along in a unique way the only Charles Dickens was able to master. Charles Darnay was one of the few characters to make a sacrifice but he sacrificed various things like his family name. Obviously, Charles was one of the last people who wanted to be an Evremonde due to the cruel things his family did, including to his father in law. However, he could have been apart of his family and be super rich. Thankfully for him, he ditched his family, found Lucie, and had a father in law that would not hate him for what his family did. After capturing these people and putting them in jail, they would got to a trial where they were most likely found guilty and then were killed. • 13. Net Neutrality And The Freedom Of The Internet In order to understand what the issues the governments face it s important that people understand what the internet access is and how Net Neutrality plays an immense role in freedom of the internet. In FreePress (2017) define Net Neutrality to be the basic principle that internet service providers of ISP s will not be able allowed to speed up, slow down, or block any website that you wish to access. The basic principle implies that people will have control over what websites they choose without having the media companies infringe on their privacy or access by slowing it down or shutting it down. As the internet facilitates freedom of speech it s important the people have a platform that will allow people to partake in a sacred democratic value. In providing access for people to communicate online, the internet service providers should provide open networks and should not be able to block or discriminate against any application or the content that is displayed on the network. In the United States, freedom of speech is an inherent privilege afforded to us as one of our constitutional rights. These rights, specifically the 1st amendment, allow us to voice our thoughts whether these thoughts are expressed through writing or speaking. Having the internet, is one of the many platforms that allows us use of our constitutional right, and to restrict our access is censorship. The movie was loosely based off of Max Brook s novel of the same name. Overall, it accrued positive reviews with a successful box office. Steve Persall applauded its aesthetic features, as it offers vivid images of what these monsters are about and what they re capable of doing . Matt Zoller Seitz, on the other hand, argues that [it s] as if someone watched the similar 28 Days Later and thought, That was a good movie, but it would be better if it cost $200 million. The critics generally agree that it is an action movie as the zombies twitch, leap, gnash, and destroy (Chris Cabin Slant Magazine). But they disagree on the appropriate rating and whether the film was, overall, satisfying in producing something original. It is balanced in violence and carnage, but keeps it friendly and evades images of blood and gore (Chris Cabin). Its special effects and horror aesthetics give the feel of a science fiction horror and action film as they were meant to evoke awe. World War Z is a good film and is packed with action, suspense, horror, and visual appeal. The action within the movie is very fast paced, and it begins during a Gerry Lane s family commute in Philadelphia. The Herman Group awards a certificate to employers titled the Employer of Choice Award when they are recognized for their leadership, culture and best practices that attract, optimize and hold top talent, achieving corporate objectives(Home, n.d.). An employer obtains this recognition by going through an application process that screens the company s employees. Many EOC companies have similar appeals where they attract and retain the best talent, but one employee s EOC many not be the same as another s (Healthfield, 2015) . • 16. The Theory Of Functional Analysis The word Church to a religious person has more meaning than just a building where people meet once a week. To a religious person the word Church means the body of Christ. The body of Christ is made up of every person s personal strengths that work together to form the entire body to live out a purpose. Church s operate on this manner; they do not see one another as superior necessarily, but rather everyone as equal and possessing their own strengths to create a fully operational team to glorify God. However, sometimes this system does not function correctly because of various issues such as a struggle for power, contrasting views and opinions, or lack of effort by people. We can apple the theory of functional analysis to the issues that arise in the Church. Functional analysis is the theory that society is made of many parts that work together to reach sociological equilibrium. This theory can be applied to how the Church operates because every person within the Church must do his or her specific job in order for the church to remain in equilibrium. When people work together there are beneficial consequences of people s actions also known as functions. An example of this would be the high school leadership team I am on at my church. The entire mission of this leadership team is to make the high school group enjoyable for the high school students to keep returning to learn more about Jesus. What Is The Hypothesis Of Second Language Acquisition Introduction Language acquisition theory (TAKE OFF) Through the linguistic lenses, Stephen Kristen created an article based on second language acquisition theories on how humans develop an additional language and/or languages. Several hypotheses that exist on this topic, but one of them is relevant to how a second language is acquired. The Acquisition Learning Hypothesis broadly emphasises two different languages can be acquired: 1) acquire the language, 2) learn the language (Krashen, p. 1). This article states that language acquisition ...subconsciously. While it is happening, we are not aware that it is happening. We think we are having a conversation, reading a book, watching a movie.
