Martin Luther King And Rosa Parks
Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks were inspirational leaders that contributed greatly towards the civil rights
movement. Growing up as an African American racial discrimination had surrounded King and Park making it
hard as colored people were unfairly treated. Both King and Park knew the inequalities and sought education to
aid themselves in their unfair life. Despite this, Park and King were brought up responsibly by their parents,
King was an active civil rights activist, participating in the Montgomery Bus Boycott , March on Washington
and led the Selma to Montgomery march . Rosa Parks was an influential figure contributing to the civil rights
movement as she was the test case the NCAACP were looking for.

Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson Essay
Famed Confederate General Thomas Stonewall Jackson s legacy is hardly easy to define. His is most
remembered for cunning speed and brutality in battle and many consider him without equal. The same
strategies Jackson used in the Shenandoah Valley campaign were scrutinized by both Rommel and Patton for
inspiration in WWII. Jackson s personal discipline carried over into his command. Although his men were
often barefoot and near starvation, he pushed them forward into battle, not wishing to sacrifice the element of
surprise. Many of his battles were actually waged on Sundays which contradicts Jackson s steadfast devotion to
Christianity that many attribute to fanaticism.
As a Virginian, however, he felt more loyal to his state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After West Point, Jackson served in the Mexican American War where he would meet his friend and future
commander, General Robert E. Lee. When the war ended, he bounced from Fort Hamilton in New York and
Fort Meade in Florida. Eventually, though, he resigned his commission to accept a teaching position at the
Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia in 1851. During this time, he married and lost a wife in
childbirth and remarried again. If not for the onset of the Civil War, he may have remained at VMI and most
likely faded into obscurity. Jackson s first duty as an officer in the Confederate States of America came from
President Jefferson Davis who ordered him to organize Harper s Ferry, the infamous site of John Brown s
bloody raid in 1859. When Jackson arrived, he was taken aback by the disorganization and drunkenness of the
troops and immediately determined to reestablish order. Jackson accomplished this task in less than a week and
gained approval from General Robert E. Lee. Jackson continued to establish order but was relieved of his
command when Jefferson Davis decided to replace him with Joseph E. Johnston because he felt Johnston held
more stature and military experience. Later, this would prove a mistake since the South was unable to hold
Harper s Ferry from the Union. Harper Ferry s loss of Jackson proved the battlefield s gain. Jackson s skill

Reflection Paper On Drills
When I was assigned as the Assistant Convoy Commander, while deployed in Iraq, my duties were comprised
of giving the mission operations brief before convoys, after action reviews (AAR), teaching battle drills,
rollover drills, vehicle recovery, reaction to Improvised Explosive Device (IED), reaction to small arms fire,
and additional weapon maintenance. (11. BNOCC I and Phase II, and ANOCC, and 5. Drill Sergeant School).
In battle drills I taught the proper actions to take in different situations for battle. Rollover drills class consisted
of how to basically protect yourself as the vehicle is rolling. This drill was practiced until it was second nature
and consisted of bracing techniques and how to extract yourself from the rolled vehicle. In vehicle recovery,
my soldiers learned how to do combat recovery of a vehicle in a hostile environment. (12. Combat Action
Badge and 14.Bronze Star Medal). Communication related to the reaction of the IED s include communicating
with those in the vehicle, to check for injuries. If there were injuries we formed a perimeter, secured the area,
and called for medical evacuation. If there were no injuries, we established if the vehicle was okay to drive,
checked with the others in the convoy for injuries and disabled vehicles. My job was ensuring the safety of our
people, and those we were transporting to their destination. Our mission was to keep them out of harm s way,
not to engage, but to keep moving. We only stopped

Pros And Cons Of Enlightened Absolutism
Enlightened Absolutism A number of rulers in 18th century Germany began enacting enlightened reforms of
their own. Including increased religious tolerance, an abolition of torture and increased freedom of the press.
Whether these reforms were a result of the increased pressure on German rulers from the bourgeoisie to
introduce enlightened policies, or whether they were simply the result of the Royals being influenced
themselves by enlightened thinkers remains unclear. However, what is clear is that even these enlightened
despots continued to harbour a belief in their own divine right to rule (Coy, 2011). Their measures to
implement enlightened reforms were often only carried out with one hand, while the other continued to adopt a

A close friend of Voltaire, during his rule Prussia became a hub for the great minds of the time and his palace
in Potsdam hosted ballet and operas. As a young man he had a keen interest in culture and wrote poetry and
prose in French, he once wrote that Machiavelli s principles of remorseless pragmatism were no longer suitable
in the much gentler enlightened age. However, just one year later he found himself on the throne of Prussia and
proceeded to ruthlessly wage wars and exploit diplomatic opportunities with the aim of building Prussia into a
great power. He provoked the war of Austrian Succession by invading the province of Silesia, which he
subsequently won, doubling the Prussian population and cementing Prussia s place as the greatest of the
German states. After the end of the war of Austrian Succession, Friedrich the Great began to embrace more
enlightened ideas, he was markedly more tolerant in matters of religion allowing the citizens of Prussia to
practice as they wished and he heavily promoted education reform and published the findings of many scholars
(Gates, no date). Despite his demonstrations of, and indeed conviction for, enlightenment the reign of Friedrich
the Great was most memorable for his demonstrations of power and military prowess (Keithly, no

The Merry Adventures Of Robinhood
The Merry Adventures of Robinhood is a novel by a man named Howard Pyle. This book consists of the many
different adventures of a young lad named Robinhood and all of his many merry men. For the past two months,
we have been reading this novel in English class. We have taken many notes, and have almost finished the
book. Since we have read so much of this novel, we have a pretty clear idea of who Robinhood is and how he
is as a person. Throughout the story, we see Robinhood grow as a character and help many people while
getting into different accounts of mischief. Robinhood had the goal of helping people. Robin s main mission in

It #39;s not just to please God. Robinhood understands what it is like to be in need and he helps them. He does
many things like give them money, food, etc. That is Godly character, but it never mentions anywhere in the
book that Robinhood is doing it to be more like Jesus Christ. In fact, Robinhood does not always help the less
fortunate by doing things the Godly way. Instead, Robinhood has been known to lie to the rich and steal loads
of money. Ephesians 4:28 states, Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with
his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. That bible verse clearly states that
you should do honest work. Stealing and lying is not an act of honest work. Robinhood continuously lies and
steals without any form of remorse. If Robinhood was a true Christ follower, he would realize that his actions
of stealing are wrong and that he should collect money the right way. If Robinhood really wanted to be more
like Jesus, he would repent of his sin and at least feel a little bit of guilt. Despite the fact that Robinhood steals,
Robin is a very well respected young man by many people. There were multiple occasions in the book where
someone stumbled upon Robinhood and they had respect for him because they heard of the thoughtful things
that he does for other people. There are many different reasons as to why people like

being graded to establish the severity of the damage to the skin and the underlying tissues. The higher the
grade, the more severe the damage will be.
Grade one
A grade one pressure ulcer will be the least severe of the pressure ulcers. The skin will appear red and will not
be blanching. The skin might also be warmer or colder to the touch and might also feel firmer. It will be painful

Symbolism In A Caged Bird
Introduction:
The title is a metaphor derived from Maya Angelou s poem Caged Bird to mean the bird which is Bahamian
music is throwing itself against the bars of its cage which is metaphorical for the constraints to the
inclusiveness of other Bahamian artist under the umbrella of Bahamian music. Bahamian music struggles so
much that it begins to bleed and needs to stop, but once its wounds are healed, it tries again. Bahamian music is
very persistent for diversity and is just praying, wishing to be free. The cultural forefathers have caged the bird
because they have been increasingly frightened at the possibility that the Bahamian culture is quickly
becoming a hybrid culture that is being corroded almost daily. This fear could very well ... Show more content

Rousseau s ideology in his piece on the social contract is directly related to the issue Bahamian music is facing.
The importance of viewing Rousseau s piece through an introspective lens is to allow Bahamians to appreciate
that they should possess the freedom in relegating what art forms change and how they do instead of allowing
the government (state) to control changes whether or not the people (sovereignty) want it to change. Rousseau
really asserted that only the people, in the form of the sovereign have the all powerful right to legislate; that
governments are not sovereign but merely a tool of the people who really comprise the Sovereign, which is the
excrete of the general will of the people. A test of any aspect of the social contract is the extent to which the
Sovereign body (the people) accepts the status quo. The commands of the rulers may pass for general wills
where the Sovereign, even while free to, does not oppose them. Silence is taken to imply acceptance. However,
for laws to be heeded they need to be accepted. The aim of the Social Contract is to determine a legitimate
political authority. In the Bahamas this authority is the elected Government on the

Transformer Merger
MERGER
The combining of two or more companies, generally by offering the stockholders of one company securities in
the acquiring company in exchange for the surrender of their stock.
BREAKING DOWN MERGER
Basically, when two companies become one. This decision is usually mutual between both firms.
several factors are influencing merger and acquisition activity. Achieving economies of scale, broadening
geographic market coverage, and more effectively competing have helped to create a flurry of acquisitions in
the marketplace. In addition, the search for cost reductions through, particularly in the mature market
conditions we have in the industry, are being used to offset companies inability to grow profit through price

The strategy is a way to bypass the time and resources entailed in achieving organic growth. With mergers and
acquisitions, growth occurs by finding complementary alliances among the competition. Although an ample
upside is associated with a successful merger or acquisition, potential risks dictate prudence before companies
tie the knot.
Strategic Fit
One of the key concepts associated with mergers and acquisitions is strategic fit. Companies operating in the
same sector must have some degree of alignment in terms of competitive situation, strategy, organizational
culture and leadership style. Greater overlap of these elements between organizations creates a more conducive
environment for merging two separate companies into a single entity. Although many factors play into these
alignments, company leadership spearheads these elements and, therefore, contributes the greatest influence
among them.

Oskar Schindler; An Act of Heroism
The expression from Zero to Hero is an informal saying that means to change an outcome, one s situation, or
oneself from being particularly unsuccessful, or unpopular to being specially successful, positive, and fortunate,

Oskar went from being a Nazi persecutor, drinker, playboy, and a gambler to being known as a strong

Mortal Man Poem
Long ago there was a mortal man in love with the daughter of a water god; however, the water god did not
approve of the mortal man. He was angry with the mortal for wishing to take his daughter and marry her. To
keep the mortal man and his daughter apart, the god created a long, tall hill that stretched from horizon to
horizon.. There were no dips, and it was impossible to climb.
It seemed hopeless, but the mortal man was clever. He would stop at nothing to reach his love, so he started to
dig. The man dug and dug, creating long tunnels through the hill. There were many tunnels because the man
would reach a place he could no longer dig, and the wide expanse of hill was confusing. Soon, dirt and rock
piled up around the hill, creating slopes. It took years to finally dig through the hill to the other side. One he

Persuasive Essay On Overpopulation
There are many issues today that pose a threat to our way of life. Overpopulation is a serious problem that will
eventually have an extremely negative effect on our countries, and our planet. The problems that arise due to
overpopulation could even prove to a fatal epidemic that will eventually wipeout the entire human race.
Oftentimes this issue is overlooked due to lack of knowledge and understanding of the subject; or, simply
because most of us are so blessed that we are not affected first hand by the problems it is causing this very
second. Overpopulation, in my belief, is an enormously serious global issue that should be identified, analyzed,
and controlled immediately. The term overpopulation literally means that the number of things (in this case:
humans) that depend on resources for survival is significantly larger than the amount of resources available to
them. Today our planet is experiencing the effects of multiplying citizens because of the obstacles the
environment is being forced to take on. Many believe that Earth is presently occupied by too many people.
Year after year the population multiplies faster and faster. Presently, there are about 7 billion people occupying
this planet, and by the middle of the approaching century the U.N. predicts that the count will reach 9.4 billion.
Both developed and developing countries are at risk of the dangerous problems that overpopulation can and
will create. This relates to In defense of the Everglade Pythons By

The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari Analysis
The relationship between the frame story and the framed story in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is the central key
to understanding the message the film tries to convey to the audience. This essay will cover the how the
resolution of the frame story changes the meaning of the framed story told by Francis, the impact and
importance of the style of the framed story, and the important analytical interpretation of why the story ended
the way it does. The film opens with Francis sitting in a garden with a fellow inmate, even though to the viewer
there is no premonition that they are inmates, When Jane walks by in a trance Francis is triggered into
recounting the tale of how they were once engaged, and why she acts now the way she does. At this point there
is still no confirmation that anyone is insane even though to the audience Jane seems to be in her own world.
The film then enters the framed story where the bulk of the narration and film will take place until it ... Show

In the characters of Jane and Caesar we see drastic departures of how they act in the present day versus in
Francis mind. However, it can be noted that even in the frame story there is still use of obscure imagery with
the spider like branches, foreboding wall, and distorted decorations on the leaves and wall. Speculating that
this reality may also not be trustworthy. It is left ambiguous because both frame and framed parts of the story
exhibit the same questions as to whether even Caligari is insane also. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is praised
worldwide for its anti authoritarian message and expressionistic style with its framed narrative. The film is
cited as one of the first horror films and influenced the development of film noir. Caligari remains to this day

Woodlouse Water Preference
Water preference of Armadillidium Vulgare (woodlouse)

Abstract
This experiment tests how Armadillidium vulgare (wood lice) use their subcutaneous touch, thermoreceptors
and chemoreceptors on their antennae and limbs to sense any airborne or surface chemicals. In this experiment,
ten wood lice were placed in a choice chamber which has two chambers; each chamber contained one piece of
circular paper to cover the circumference of the chamber. Each paper consisted of one of two different variants
of NaCl water, the left side contained 0.9% and the right side contained 10%. The goal of this experiment was
to test which solution attracted the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An alternative hypothesis was them formed which was that the woodlouse would prefer to migrate to the 0.9%
NaCl solution rather than the 10% solution. This was stated because the woodlouse live in a moist environment
thus meaning the water is fresh water rather than containing much salt. After the results were calculated, the
null hypothesis was rejected because the woodlouse favored the solution with the least amount of salt (NaCl)
which was the 0.9% side. This proved that the woodlouse preferred a more fresh water environment. A
question was then raised as to why some of the woodlouse still decided to travel to the 10% NaCl water? This
experiment could have been more improved if the choice chamber contained the woodlouse s natural habitat
which would to be to insert grass and dirt into the choice chamber. This would have improved the experiment
because it allows the woodlouse to recognize a familiar environment rather than just travelling to a piece of
paper with different concentration of NaCl water on

I Am A Tck, Or A Third Culture Kid
I am a TCK, or a Third Culture Kid. . Third culture kids are children who are raised outside of their parent s
culture. Many TCKs are moved from country to country so often that they have no ties to any particular
culture, but rather find a sense of belonging to every culture, even ones they don t live in. I was very little when
I realized I wasn t like every other little Turkish girl, mostly because I wasn t Turkish. At first, being American
was horrible and uncomfortable. I felt judged simply because of where my parents were from. Eventually, I

It is definitely unlikely that everyone at my French school seamlessly switched to Turkish in my presence.
After a brief explanation that they most likely did not speak Turkish to me, I was appeased. In second grade, I
remember my difference becoming relevant once again. Suddenly, I wasn t a little French girl, as I had grown
accustomed to thinking of myself. Instead, I realized that my distant nationality was more relevant than I had
previously thought. I was the American in a French school, and that was a bad thing to be. I clearly remember
my teacher openly mocking Americans. Initially, I thought nothing of it, I laughed with the class, not
necessarily realizing that I was American, that I was exactly who my teacher was mocking. Even though I didn
t really identify as an American, I knew that everyone else thought of me as the American. I felt as though
everyone else was making fun of me personally.
I learned to hide my nationality amongst my French friends. When asked, I would merely tell people that I was
born in Turkey, hoping they would assume that was my nationality and move on. Thankfully, I was also a part
of a community of ex patriots, and I had many friends who were also of American nationality. We would often
talk about the negative stereotypes we face as Americans in school, and express our frustration of not feeling
like we belonged to any culture. None of us were technically French, and no one felt American because that

Children Effective Communication
Communication is effective when what is trying to be conveyed is understood by the recipient quickly and
easily. Effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with everyone at any age and
in any setting; how this is achieved varies but its value remains the same. Every relationship begins with
communication whether it be written or verbal if it is positive it starts the relationship off positively and
enables both parties to be happy to develop that relationship.
With children effective communication by way of showing them that you are interested in what they have to

African American Identity
Iman Zahra
What, according to these writers of the Harlem Renaissance, are the sources of African American identity?
The Discovery of African American Identity
In the 1900s African American have slowly started to gain their rights after the end of slavery. It was a difficult
and tedious process; however, they never gave up on what they believed in, which is racial equality . African
American stood together in organizations, marches, and unions because they had something that united them
which wasn t just skin color; it was inequality and slavery. African Americans came together to celebrate the
New Negro . They created an identity for themselves through history and culture, and it spread nationwide with
the creation of the Harlem Renaissance . Harlem became the center of African American culture and the
grassroots of African American history, or as Alain Locke has called it: Harlem: Mecca of the New Negro.
According to Afro Americans in New York Life and History, The development of the Harlem Renaissance was
a result of two factors: First of all, the immigration that started during the war which gave African Americans
the motivation to become more confident of who they are, and more responsible for their race and rights. They
became defiant, bitter, and impatient. They would not take silence and inequality as an answer. They expressed
themselves through the Harlem Renaissance. The second reason is the riots that followed World War I . African

The Way the Vacuum Changed the World The 1900s and on was a time of great inventions coming to be.
People wanted to make their world a better place so they started to invent things. One of the inventions that
came to be was the vacuum cleaner. The idea first came to be in around 1869 but it was a little different. The
vacuum we know about now didn t come to be until 1901, and we owe it all to Hubert Booth (Bells). The
vacuum cleaner impacted the world in many ways. It improved our health, to a certain extent. It also provided
more time for families to come together and have more quality time. The vacuum cleaner had some negative
impacts on the environment, small problems but nevertheless there were problems. Not only did the invention

L.L. Bean Case Study Essay

Case Study #3: L.L. Bean
Question 1: How does L.L. Bean use past demand data and a specific item forecast to decide how many units
of that item to stock?
L.L. Bean uses several different calculations in order to determine the number of units of a particular item it
should stock, whether it is a new item or a never out item. The first piece of data that is required is a point
forecast for the item in the future period. This comes from the forecasting department, and is based off of the
book forecast and past demand data. For a new item, there is a lot more judgment involved, especially with
trying to estimate how much demand this new product will generate. This point forecast is then used in
conjunction with the A/F ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They first need to know what the cost is to make an item. They also need to know the selling price of the item.
From these two pieces of data, they can then calculate the profit generated from each individual item (profit =
selling price cost of item). The third piece of data they need is the price if they item becomes liquidated. Thus,
they can calculate the loss of an individual item if it becomes liquidated. Using these calculations, they can use
the methods mentioned in Question #1 to make a decision of how many units of a particular item to stock.
Essentially, we need to compare the costs associated with understocking and overstocking inventory. The costs
of understocking, as mentioned above, not only includes short terms losses like the loss of the sale for that item
at that time, but also include loss of future business due to customer dissatisfaction. We must also consider that
if a particular item is not in stock, the entire purchase orders may be cancelled as per the terms and conditions
not being met. The costs of overstocking include the cost to hold that inventory but we also need to consider
that it might change if the salvage value of a product leftover depends on the number of units remaining at the
end of the season. If we have a lot of product leftover, then the liquidation value might be a lot less. We have to
take all these factors into consideration when making the decision of how many

The Economy s Growing and the Standard of Living in the...
During the 20th century economy has changed and international trade has been developped. It allowed to
increase our standard of living. Therefore we need to understand why countries have opened their boarder and
what the impact is. To do that we need to understantd what the trade bring to us in defining the comparative
advantage. After that one important point is to understand which effect the technological change has on trade.
Then the main point that it s whether trade is benefical for everyone or leads to dangerous competitveness and
why this behaviour can happen like protectionims and which are the consequences.
First of all we need to define what the comparative advantage is. One obvious concept is that country s
ressources can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So you will decide to produce the good for which you have the greater disadvantage. For example if you have
sufficiently lower wage therefore you have lower costs so it implies that you pay low enough wages to have a
comparative advantage. So in the diagrame below you can see how change the consumption point when a
country decide to trade with foreign country.
So firstly you see that you produce both of goods and then you decide to specialize and produce more of good
2. After that you can export and import the difference. That leads to a better consumption equilibrium that
increases your satisfaction. Hence this rearrangement of the world ressources induces to a raise of the
production and induces to a raise in the standard of living.
Firstly as Thurow (Clyde, V. and Prestowitz, C. (1994)) said, the meaning of ressources has changed. In the
traditional theory we have seen that the natural resource endowments and the factor proportions determine in
which good the country should specialise. Now he explains that it s not because Japan has no coal and no iron
ore that it can be the leader of steel industry. Therefore we see that the technology has had a very important
effect on the traditional theory. The natural ressources have been pushed out by the technology. Now we have
to take into account that a country does not depend on its traditional ressources but more its ability to adapt.

Dogville Mise En Scene Analysis
Mise en scène and multiple interpretations in relation to a film Dogville by Lars von Trier
In my essay, I am going to consider the possible interpretations of the Mise en scene details in relation to a film
Dogville (2003) by Lars von Trier. I will be exploring how the same details can be interpreted in different
ways, depending on the viewer s background, attitude, perspective, and so on.
Dogville is the city drawn in chalk; the city with a 3 hour psychedelia; the city that reflects the ugliness of
human nature.
The surface is often deceptive. The whole town is a convention. The furniture could be pink, there could be
cacti in the Elm Street, and the town could be located not in the mountains but on a sunny beach. Von Trier has
never treated the scenery with respect. He needs it just as an addition to something more important. This
approach is perfectly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And in the final scene, when the moon rises over the city, Grace accepts the rules of the game The moon has
always been a symbol of deception, illusion, melancholy wrong light, which is only a pale reflection of the hot
sun.
However, once you begin to interpret the meaning of Dogville, you will get into the realm of uncertainty. Von
Trier has made everything to make the viewers feel different while watching his movie with its artificial
decorations, British accent of the voiceover and formalism in acting and dialogues.
On the one hand, Dogville is nothing but an attempt to show a realistic American image. Presenting Dogville in
Cannes, von Trier said, this is America, but seen from my point of view and that it is not a historical or
scientific, but emotional movie. Here are the most important words of the director: In my American films, I
reflect the information that comes to me, and my feelings about it. Of course, this is not the whole truth, as I

The Nature Of The Therapeutic Action Of Psychoanalysis
Following the publication of Freud s Papers on Technique between 1912 and 1917, there have been papers and
symposia on the subject. Four symposia in 1937, 1948, 1958, and 1961 were devoted to the examination of
therapeutic results of psychoanalysis, the mechanisms behind its curative factors, variations in technique and
the ego psychological approach to interpretations (Rosenfeld, 1972, 454). In 1934, James Strachey published
his paper on The Nature of the Therapeutic Action of Psychoanalysis, which has since been considered one of
the most seminal works on the subject. He holds that his paper is not a practical discussion upon
psychoanalytic technique, and that it s immediate bearings are theoretical (Strachey, 1934, 127). However, as
Herbert Rosenfeld points out in his 1972 critical appreciation of Strachey s paper, this is clearly an
understatement; the paper both challenges one s clinical experience and has important clinical implications
even though actual case material is not quoted (Rosenfeld, 1972, 454). It would not be difficult to summarize
Strachey s main points regarding therapeutic action and mutative interpretation, and it would prove similarly
sterile to simply compare his ideas with the views of other psychoanalysts, contemporaneous and
contemporary. Instead, as Strachey concerns himself primarily with the structural nature of mutative change,
this paper will aim to delineate a more in depth exploration of the way different structures of the

Is High School football a sport, or is it more than that to some people? I ve learned that the book is more

Water Flow of Flouride
First of all, naturally fluoridated water has fluorine levels of approximately 0.4 mg/L, while artificially
fluoridated water can have levels up to 1.0mg/L. This long term ingestion of excess fluorine can lead to
fluorosis which may negatively impact teeth and bones. Dental fluorosis occurs during tooth development.
Teeth are mostly composed of hydroxylapatite, which is a mineral form of calcium. When intake of fluoride
increases, it also increases apatite content, creating white streaks and in more serious cases cause mottling of
teeth. In addition, fluoride levels in breast milk are around 0.004mg/L. Therefore, infants who drink baby
formula with fluoridated water will be exposed to 300 times more fluoride, increasing the risk of developing
dental fluorosis. Skeletal fluorosis is another disease in which fluoride accumulates in the bone for several
years. Early symptoms of skeletal fluorosis may be forms of arthritis such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid
arthritis which are joint pains and stiffness. In more severe cases, the bone can calcify, which is the conversion
of soft bone tissue into hard and insoluble calcium compounds. This can lead to muscle and joint impairment.
(WHO) For over 40 years, U.S health organizations have claimed that skeletal fluorosis will not develop unless
an individual intake 10 20mg/L of fluoride every day. However, studies in India and China shows that a person
can have skeletal fluorosis with levels of 0.7 1.5mg/L. Fluoride can also impact

For instance, when Hamlet encounters his father s apparition it says Revenge his foul and most unnatural
murder. (Hamlet. I. V. 25). Often times, when one has evolved to an apparition it is a result of a catastrophic
death and has come to seek vengeance on earth (Elizabethan era). This indicates that the late king died due to
an unnatural and tragic death. With this, it explains the intention behind his appearance and foreshadows
upcoming events of retribution and murder between Hamlet and Claudius. This pivotal moment directs the plot
to the direction of tragedy and the theme of betrayal. In addition, as it progresses, Hamlet s father states that he
is Doomed for a certain term to walk the night (Hamlet. I.V.10). As though this passage seem that it is
insignificant that ghosts appear at night rather than in the morning, it shows also depicts the type of ghost of
the late king. In the Elizabethan Era, there are three main types of apparition, the purely subjective ghost, the
authentic ghost that carries along remorse and only emerge at night, and the false ghost who are able to do
many types of manifestation (Ghosts Witches and Shakespeare). This suggests that the late king had done
something remorseful in his life before his demise as he could only walk the earth at night . Hence, without a

Dust Bowl Criticism
The printed work of the Dust Bowl written by Donald Worster tells of the devastating man made events that
occurred between 1929 and 1939. Worster described this time in history as the darkest moment life in the
southern plains encountered in the twentieth century (4) which was a time where drought, poverty, and famine
were of concern. Worster also ties the Great Depression with the Dust Bowl and said that the same society
produced them both because of the weakness of America (5). He strongly believes that the Dust Bowl was not
a disaster created by nature, but a crisis created by man due to capitalism. Dust Bowl gives a powerful stance
on how man ignored the limits of the land which led them into the dirty thirties; however, his beliefs cause him
to disregard the disaster as the fault of nature, and specifically blamed man. Large numbers of people migrated
to the grasslands and plowed the areas to farm. Over time, the soil wore out and the cycle of rain stopped,
causing the soil to blow away. The natural way that wildlife lived was disrupted by civilization, and since
nature was damaged, the mutual cooperation between humans, land, animals, and soil failed. Man wanted to
proceed forward, but their desire for wealth caused them a Great Depression, and a horrendous storm that
wiped away their land. The expansion to the frontier and the wearing of the soil was not to make a living, but
to bring more money to the people even though the soil was not capable of growing a sizable amount of crops.
The point that Worster clearly makes throughout his book was that capitalism caused the problem. He believed
the two linked disasters, The Dust Bowl and The Great Depression were entirely man made because of flaws in
American society. Worster could not define capitalism with one simple meaning, but says that man viewed the
land as a business. They worked the land until they could not work it anymore, and even then, they continued
to plow the fields trying to get every last grain that would provide them with more money. Worster wrote that
man had a right to use the land because the highest economic rewards go to those who have done the most to
extract nature from all it can yield (Worster 6). Therefore, the land was

Social Anxiety And Social Depression
Social anxiety is condition that has been described since the days of Hippocrates. Hippocrates described an
individual who would avoid social outings due to being timid, bashful, and fear of being misused, disgraced,
make a fool of himself, or being sick and believes he is constantly being watched. Will the man who suffers
from social anxiety react differently to mistakes based on social context? A study by Barker, Troller Renfree,
Pine, Fox in 2015 attempted to test that. Baker et al. tried to measure the error related negativity, an event
potential that occurs 50 ms after the faulty response. The purpose of the study was to see if there is a
relationship between the magnitude of the ERN and social anxiety.
Barker et al. used two groups of individuals. The first group was a group that hardly exhibit social anxiety and
the second group was a group that exhibited high levels of social anxiety. The first group has 10 males and 11
females and the second group had 11 males and 11 females. The individuals were selected by using the
Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale. Participants in the study also completed the Penn State Worry Questionnaire
and the Beck Depression Inventory. The reason why Barker et al. selected the PSWQ is because it has shown
high internal reliability in clinical and normative populations and has demonstrated the ability to be able to
distinguish between the constructs of worry, anxiety, and depression. The BDI was selected because it has
shown the ability to

Introduction
Oasis Hong Kong Airlines was founded in February 2005 by Rev. Raymond C. Lee, and his wife, Priscilla H.
Lee had they survived; this month would have marked their seven year anniversary. Unfortunately an airline
that became known for its low fares liquidated it assets three years and two months after its start in April 2008.
Oasis alleged that the company was doing well claiming that the company broke even after the first six months

Oasis with proper planning possibly could have been a success, some interesting facts about a company that
went under so quickly. In 2007, Oasis Hong Kong was voted World s Leading New Airline and Asia s Leading
Budget/No Frills Airline at the Annual World Travel Awards 2007. It was also named New Airline of the Year
by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation of Australia, and was voted Best New Service and Best Business Class
Carrier at the 2007 World Low Cost Airline Congress Awards held in London. One can only wonder what went
wrong. The airline had only five planes two Boeing 747 412 and 3 Boeing 747 481 owned previously by other
airlines. Two hot meals and soft drinks were served free on both long haul routes in all classes and Oasis
tickets were sold through the website and travel agents. Looking at them from a business sense one would have
to think that somewhere in the management of Oasis something went terribly wrong. This company had all the
making of success and certainly there are many people who wish it had.

Why Is The First Amendment Important To Mass Media In The...
1. What is the rationale underlying copyright law?
To answer this, Copyright Law must be understood. Copyright Laws protect intellectual property, and
ownership rights. Artists can control their content by selling, leasing it or giving it away. Artists can grant
permission for their work and have the freedom to charge. It encourages creativity, and protects the creativity
by keeping it exclusive to the creator which allows profit. Mass media embodies the Copyright content,
2. Why is the First Amendment important to mass media in the United States?
The first amendment is important because free expression is important, without it information is suppressed.
The First Amendment pushes freedom to every citizen by declaring that all citizens, and mass media are not
limited to what they say. Without it, mass media would be a government information piece very much like The
Daily News in China. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What was the direction of court interpretation of the First Amendment in the 1900s? After the First Amendment
was passed, Congress attempted to jail citizens for speaking against the government with a Law called the
Alien and Sedition Acts. During the early 1900s, The First Amendment only covered political issues. It was
soon realized that politics crossed over from music, art and movies. Therefore the First Amendment expanded
to guard all forms of media from government censorship and

Reasons for Devotion to Hindu Goddesses
Reasons for devotion to Hindu goddesses Hinduism portrays feminine divinity in a more exalted way than
most other religions do. Though Hindu goddesses are usually depicted as consorts, wives or companions to a
Hindu god, cases exist in which they are worshipped independently; Tantrism for example, where it is believed
that women posses more spiritual power than men, thus men can achieve divinity through union with a woman
( Tantrism ). Most villages reinforce the mother aspect of goddesses and worship them individually as their
protector, regarding them as having originated in the area and thus being tied to the health and prosperity of the
village (Caldwell). Others who may devote themselves to a goddess might be in order to conquer or ... Show

Kali then proceeds to kill all the asuras in a frenzied manner, later offering the heads of their leaders Chanda
and Munda to Durga. Her second appearance is in the follow chapter, where she battles Raktabija, and assures
success by sucking all of his blood so he could not reproduce anymore, per Durga s command, while she
slayed him ( Devimahatmya ch. 7 8). Another myth ties Kali with Parvati, telling of an army of demons that
threatens the safety of the world. Men cannot slay them, and so Shiva calls for his wife to aid them in battle.
Parvati accepts the responsibility, swallowing the poison stored in Shiva s throat and morphing into Kali.
However, she becomes too drunk with the poison and, after defeating all the demons, threatens to destroy the
world herself with her berserk dance. In an attempt to subdue his wife, Shiva then lays on the floor in front of
Kali, who in her delirious state does not notice his presence and steps on him. Shamed that she had showed
such disgraceful behavior, she bites her tongue in humiliation. The last scene of the above tale is illustrated in a
lot of imagery, and while the tale itself has a lot of variations, many Hindus will arrive at the same resolution.
It is in this perception that many contradictions lie. Another question rises, What does Kali s tongue biting
really mean? Most Hindus will claim that it is to show shame, which is what the action means in Bengali
culture,

Strengths And Weaknesses Of E-Books
Jakob Nielsen had expressed his views. His found out that, reading e books with a small screen, such as a
mobile phone, the user suff on a variety of e books and have read the contexts but they are harder to remember
the context and moreover, they read and forget.
In the human evolutionary process, people own a pairs of eyes which is sensitivity to space, so the context of
book fill in with the iconic things and picture will make the reading process from remember to understand and
transform to knowledge. When reading process happen, the segment is close to the header or footer, the page
number is on the left or on the right side, is there is a picture beside the text, these elements seemingly
unrelated, but it actually has a great help on memorize the context.
However, read an e books and there is no elements for you to refer, especially those to scroll the page is
rendered in the books, they never tell you the page number, only shows the percentage of context that you have

Recent studies have highlighted a number of difficulties, that some have mentioned on above. Only half the
print books acquired by academic libraries are available as e books, that mean is not so important. When
acquired individually, academic e books cost substantially more than print editions. The preservation of e
books is especially difficult because it requires the long term maintenance of several distinct elements: texts,
file formats, software, operating systems, and hardware. Sustainable access to e books is hindered by
impermanent physical media, proprietary file formats and software, and restrictive license

  • 4. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson Essay Famed Confederate General Thomas Stonewall Jackson s legacy is hardly easy to define. His is most remembered for cunning speed and brutality in battle and many consider him without equal. The same strategies Jackson used in the Shenandoah Valley campaign were scrutinized by both Rommel and Patton for inspiration in WWII. Jackson s personal discipline carried over into his command. Although his men were often barefoot and near starvation, he pushed them forward into battle, not wishing to sacrifice the element of surprise. Many of his battles were actually waged on Sundays which contradicts Jackson s steadfast devotion to Christianity that many attribute to fanaticism. After West Point, Jackson served in the Mexican American War where he would meet his friend and future commander, General Robert E. Lee. When the war ended, he bounced from Fort Hamilton in New York and Fort Meade in Florida. Eventually, though, he resigned his commission to accept a teaching position at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia in 1851. During this time, he married and lost a wife in childbirth and remarried again. If not for the onset of the Civil War, he may have remained at VMI and most likely faded into obscurity. Jackson s first duty as an officer in the Confederate States of America came from President Jefferson Davis who ordered him to organize Harper s Ferry, the infamous site of John Brown s bloody raid in 1859. When Jackson arrived, he was taken aback by the disorganization and drunkenness of the troops and immediately determined to reestablish order. Jackson accomplished this task in less than a week and gained approval from General Robert E. Lee. Jackson continued to establish order but was relieved of his command when Jefferson Davis decided to replace him with Joseph E. Johnston because he felt Johnston held more stature and military experience. Later, this would prove a mistake since the South was unable to hold Harper s Ferry from the Union. Harper Ferry s loss of Jackson proved the battlefield s gain. Jackson s skill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Including increased religious tolerance, an abolition of torture and increased freedom of the press. Whether these reforms were a result of the increased pressure on German rulers from the bourgeoisie to introduce enlightened policies, or whether they were simply the result of the Royals being influenced themselves by enlightened thinkers remains unclear. As a young man he had a keen interest in culture and wrote poetry and prose in French, he once wrote that Machiavelli s principles of remorseless pragmatism were no longer suitable in the much gentler enlightened age. However, just one year later he found himself on the throne of Prussia and proceeded to ruthlessly wage wars and exploit diplomatic opportunities with the aim of building Prussia into a great power. He provoked the war of Austrian Succession by invading the province of Silesia, which he subsequently won, doubling the Prussian population and cementing Prussia s place as the greatest of the German states. After the end of the war of Austrian Succession, Friedrich the Great began to embrace more enlightened ideas, he was markedly more tolerant in matters of religion allowing the citizens of Prussia to practice as they wished and he heavily promoted education reform and published the findings of many scholars (Gates, no date). He does many things like give them money, food, etc. That is Godly character, but it never mentions anywhere in the book that Robinhood is doing it to be more like Jesus Christ. In fact, Robinhood does not always help the less fortunate by doing things the Godly way. Instead, Robinhood has been known to lie to the rich and steal loads of money. Ephesians 4:28 states, Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. That bible verse clearly states that you should do honest work. Stealing and lying is not an act of honest work. Robinhood continuously lies and steals without any form of remorse. If Robinhood was a true Christ follower, he would realize that his actions of stealing are wrong and that he should collect money the right way. If Robinhood really wanted to be more like Jesus, he would repent of his sin and at least feel a little bit of guilt. Despite the fact that Robinhood steals, Robin is a very well respected young man by many people. The importance of viewing Rousseau s piece through an introspective lens is to allow Bahamians to appreciate that they should possess the freedom in relegating what art forms change and how they do instead of allowing the government (state) to control changes whether or not the people (sovereignty) want it to change. Rousseau really asserted that only the people, in the form of the sovereign have the all powerful right to legislate; that governments are not sovereign but merely a tool of the people who really comprise the Sovereign, which is the excrete of the general will of the people. He was angry with the mortal for wishing to take his daughter and marry her. To keep the mortal man and his daughter apart, the god created a long, tall hill that stretched from horizon to horizon.. There were no dips, and it was impossible to climb. It seemed hopeless, but the mortal man was clever. He would stop at nothing to reach his love, so he started to dig. The man dug and dug, creating long tunnels through the hill. There were many tunnels because the man would reach a place he could no longer dig, and the wide expanse of hill was confusing. • 18. Persuasive Essay On Overpopulation There are many issues today that pose a threat to our way of life. Overpopulation is a serious problem that will eventually have an extremely negative effect on our countries, and our planet. The problems that arise due to overpopulation could even prove to a fatal epidemic that will eventually wipeout the entire human race. Oftentimes this issue is overlooked due to lack of knowledge and understanding of the subject; or, simply because most of us are so blessed that we are not affected first hand by the problems it is causing this very second. Overpopulation, in my belief, is an enormously serious global issue that should be identified, analyzed, and controlled immediately. The term overpopulation literally means that the number of things (in this case: humans) that depend on resources for survival is significantly larger than the amount of resources available to them. Today our planet is experiencing the effects of multiplying citizens because of the obstacles the environment is being forced to take on. Many believe that Earth is presently occupied by too many people. Year after year the population multiplies faster and faster. Presently, there are about 7 billion people occupying this planet, and by the middle of the approaching century the U.N. predicts that the count will reach 9.4 billion. Both developed and developing countries are at risk of the dangerous problems that overpopulation can and will create. This relates to In defense of the Everglade Pythons By ... The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari Analysis The relationship between the frame story and the framed story in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is the central key to understanding the message the film tries to convey to the audience. This essay will cover the how the resolution of the frame story changes the meaning of the framed story told by Francis, the impact and importance of the style of the framed story, and the important analytical interpretation of why the story ended the way it does. The film opens with Francis sitting in a garden with a fellow inmate, even though to the viewer there is no premonition that they are inmates, When Jane walks by in a trance Francis is triggered into recounting the tale of how they were once engaged, and why she acts now the way she does. In this experiment, ten wood lice were placed in a choice chamber which has two chambers; each chamber contained one piece of circular paper to cover the circumference of the chamber. An alternative hypothesis was them formed which was that the woodlouse would prefer to migrate to the 0.9% NaCl solution rather than the 10% solution. After the results were calculated, the null hypothesis was rejected because the woodlouse favored the solution with the least amount of salt (NaCl) which was the 0.9% side. This proved that the woodlouse preferred a more fresh water environment. A question was then raised as to why some of the woodlouse still decided to travel to the 10% NaCl water? This experiment could have been more improved if the choice chamber contained the woodlouse s natural habitat which would to be to insert grass and dirt into the choice chamber. This would have improved the experiment because it allows the woodlouse to recognize a familiar environment rather than just travelling to a piece of paper with different concentration of NaCl water on ... The Discovery of African American Identity In the 1900s African American have slowly started to gain their rights after the end of slavery. It was a difficult and tedious process; however, they never gave up on what they believed in, which is racial equality . African American stood together in organizations, marches, and unions because they had something that united them which wasn t just skin color; it was inequality and slavery. African Americans came together to celebrate the New Negro . They created an identity for themselves through history and culture, and it spread nationwide with the creation of the Harlem Renaissance . Harlem became the center of African American culture and the grassroots of African American history, or as Alain Locke has called it: Harlem: Mecca of the New Negro. According to Afro Americans in New York Life and History, The development of the Harlem Renaissance was a result of two factors: First of all, the immigration that started during the war which gave African Americans the motivation to become more confident of who they are, and more responsible for their race and rights. They became defiant, bitter, and impatient. They would not take silence and inequality as an answer. They expressed themselves through the Harlem Renaissance. Bean use past demand data and a specific item forecast to decide how many units of that item to stock? L.L. Bean uses several different calculations in order to determine the number of units of a particular item it should stock, whether it is a new item or a never out item. The first piece of data that is required is a point forecast for the item in the future period. This comes from the forecasting department, and is based off of the book forecast and past demand data. For a new item, there is a lot more judgment involved, especially with trying to estimate how much demand this new product will generate. This point forecast is then used in conjunction with the A/F ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They first need to know what the cost is to make an item. They also need to know the selling price of the item. From these two pieces of data, they can then calculate the profit generated from each individual item (profit = selling price cost of item). The third piece of data they need is the price if they item becomes liquidated. Thus, they can calculate the loss of an individual item if it becomes liquidated. Using these calculations, they can use the methods mentioned in Question #1 to make a decision of how many units of a particular item to stock. Essentially, we need to compare the costs associated with understocking and overstocking inventory. The costs of understocking, as mentioned above, not only includes short terms losses like the loss of the sale for that item at that time, but also include loss of future business due to customer dissatisfaction. We must also consider that if a particular item is not in stock, the entire purchase orders may be cancelled as per the terms and conditions not being met. The costs of overstocking include the cost to hold that inventory but we also need to consider that it might change if the salvage value of a product leftover depends on the number of units remaining at the end of the season. If we have a lot of product leftover, then the liquidation value might be a lot less. We have to take all these factors into consideration when making the decision of how many ... So firstly you see that you produce both of goods and then you decide to specialize and produce more of good 2. After that you can export and import the difference. I will be exploring how the same details can be interpreted in different ways, depending on the viewer s background, attitude, perspective, and so on. Dogville is the city drawn in chalk; the city with a 3 hour psychedelia; the city that reflects the ugliness of human nature. The surface is often deceptive. The whole town is a convention. Four symposia in 1937, 1948, 1958, and 1961 were devoted to the examination of therapeutic results of psychoanalysis, the mechanisms behind its curative factors, variations in technique and the ego psychological approach to interpretations (Rosenfeld, 1972, 454). In 1934, James Strachey published his paper on The Nature of the Therapeutic Action of Psychoanalysis, which has since been considered one of the most seminal works on the subject. He holds that his paper is not a practical discussion upon psychoanalytic technique, and that it s immediate bearings are theoretical (Strachey, 1934, 127). However, as Herbert Rosenfeld points out in his 1972 critical appreciation of Strachey s paper, this is clearly an understatement; the paper both challenges one s clinical experience and has important clinical implications even though actual case material is not quoted (Rosenfeld, 1972, 454). It would not be difficult to summarize Strachey s main points regarding therapeutic action and mutative interpretation, and it would prove similarly sterile to simply compare his ideas with the views of other psychoanalysts, contemporaneous and contemporary. • 36. Water Flow of Flouride First of all, naturally fluoridated water has fluorine levels of approximately 0.4 mg/L, while artificially fluoridated water can have levels up to 1.0mg/L. This long term ingestion of excess fluorine can lead to fluorosis which may negatively impact teeth and bones. Dental fluorosis occurs during tooth development. Teeth are mostly composed of hydroxylapatite, which is a mineral form of calcium. When intake of fluoride increases, it also increases apatite content, creating white streaks and in more serious cases cause mottling of teeth. In addition, fluoride levels in breast milk are around 0.004mg/L. Therefore, infants who drink baby formula with fluoridated water will be exposed to 300 times more fluoride, increasing the risk of developing dental fluorosis. Skeletal fluorosis is another disease in which fluoride accumulates in the bone for several years. Early symptoms of skeletal fluorosis may be forms of arthritis such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis which are joint pains and stiffness. In more severe cases, the bone can calcify, which is the conversion of soft bone tissue into hard and insoluble calcium compounds. This can lead to muscle and joint impairment. • 39. Hamlet Superstitions In The Elizabethan Era To be, or not to be...? Most would recognize this eminent phrase from the renowned play Hamlet written by playwright Shakespeare. This timeless play will forever leave an imprint in the history of English literature. In fact, Hamlet is still very popular amongst schools in Canada to enlighten students about the literature of the past and the history of the Elizabethan era. However, being published in 1601 (Wikipedia), it is obvious that the time difference in contrast to today alters the quality of fully comprehending the text. Without prior knowledge of the Elizabethan society, one can find appreciating the context difficult. Thus, to completely grasp the deeper meaning behind Hamlet, one should understand the superstitious and religious beliefs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, when Hamlet encounters his father s apparition it says Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder. (Hamlet. I. V. 25). Often times, when one has evolved to an apparition it is a result of a catastrophic death and has come to seek vengeance on earth (Elizabethan era). This indicates that the late king died due to an unnatural and tragic death. With this, it explains the intention behind his appearance and foreshadows upcoming events of retribution and murder between Hamlet and Claudius. This pivotal moment directs the plot to the direction of tragedy and the theme of betrayal. In addition, as it progresses, Hamlet s father states that he is Doomed for a certain term to walk the night (Hamlet. I.V.10). As though this passage seem that it is insignificant that ghosts appear at night rather than in the morning, it shows also depicts the type of ghost of the late king. In the Elizabethan Era, there are three main types of apparition, the purely subjective ghost, the authentic ghost that carries along remorse and only emerge at night, and the false ghost who are able to do many types of manifestation (Ghosts Witches and Shakespeare). This suggests that the late king had done something remorseful in his life before his demise as he could only walk the earth at night . Hence, without a basic knowledge of the supernatural beliefs one could fail to comprehend this passage to their full ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Dust Bowl Criticism The printed work of the Dust Bowl written by Donald Worster tells of the devastating man made events that occurred between 1929 and 1939. Worster described this time in history as the darkest moment life in the southern plains encountered in the twentieth century (4) which was a time where drought, poverty, and famine were of concern. Worster also ties the Great Depression with the Dust Bowl and said that the same society produced them both because of the weakness of America (5). He strongly believes that the Dust Bowl was not a disaster created by nature, but a crisis created by man due to capitalism. Dust Bowl gives a powerful stance on how man ignored the limits of the land which led them into the dirty thirties; however, his beliefs cause him to disregard the disaster as the fault of nature, and specifically blamed man. Large numbers of people migrated to the grasslands and plowed the areas to farm. Over time, the soil wore out and the cycle of rain stopped, causing the soil to blow away. The natural way that wildlife lived was disrupted by civilization, and since nature was damaged, the mutual cooperation between humans, land, animals, and soil failed. Man wanted to proceed forward, but their desire for wealth caused them a Great Depression, and a horrendous storm that wiped away their land. The expansion to the frontier and the wearing of the soil was not to make a living, but to bring more money to the people even though the soil was not capable of growing a sizable amount of crops. The point that Worster clearly makes throughout his book was that capitalism caused the problem. He believed the two linked disasters, The Dust Bowl and The Great Depression were entirely man made because of flaws in American society. Worster could not define capitalism with one simple meaning, but says that man viewed the land as a business. They worked the land until they could not work it anymore, and even then, they continued to plow the fields trying to get every last grain that would provide them with more money. Worster wrote that man had a right to use the land because the highest economic rewards go to those who have done the most to extract nature from all it can yield (Worster 6). Therefore, the land was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Social Anxiety And Social Depression Social anxiety is condition that has been described since the days of Hippocrates. Hippocrates described an individual who would avoid social outings due to being timid, bashful, and fear of being misused, disgraced, make a fool of himself, or being sick and believes he is constantly being watched. Will the man who suffers from social anxiety react differently to mistakes based on social context? A study by Barker, Troller Renfree, Pine, Fox in 2015 attempted to test that. Baker et al. tried to measure the error related negativity, an event potential that occurs 50 ms after the faulty response. The purpose of the study was to see if there is a relationship between the magnitude of the ERN and social anxiety. Barker et al. used two groups of individuals. The first group was a group that hardly exhibit social anxiety and the second group was a group that exhibited high levels of social anxiety. The first group has 10 males and 11 females and the second group had 11 males and 11 females. The individuals were selected by using the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale. Participants in the study also completed the Penn State Worry Questionnaire and the Beck Depression Inventory. The reason why Barker et al. selected the PSWQ is because it has shown high internal reliability in clinical and normative populations and has demonstrated the ability to be able to distinguish between the constructs of worry, anxiety, and depression. The BDI was selected because it has shown the ability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Reasons for Devotion to Hindu Goddesses Reasons for devotion to Hindu goddesses Hinduism portrays feminine divinity in a more exalted way than most other religions do. Though Hindu goddesses are usually depicted as consorts, wives or companions to a Hindu god, cases exist in which they are worshipped independently; Tantrism for example, where it is believed that women posses more spiritual power than men, thus men can achieve divinity through union with a woman ( Tantrism ). Most villages reinforce the mother aspect of goddesses and worship them individually as their protector, regarding them as having originated in the area and thus being tied to the health and prosperity of the village (Caldwell). Kali then proceeds to kill all the asuras in a frenzied manner, later offering the heads of their leaders Chanda and Munda to Durga. Her second appearance is in the follow chapter, where she battles Raktabija, and assures success by sucking all of his blood so he could not reproduce anymore, per Durga s command, while she slayed him ( Devimahatmya ch. 7 8). Another myth ties Kali with Parvati, telling of an army of demons that threatens the safety of the world. Men cannot slay them, and so Shiva calls for his wife to aid them in battle. Parvati accepts the responsibility, swallowing the poison stored in Shiva s throat and morphing into Kali. However, she becomes too drunk with the poison and, after defeating all the demons, threatens to destroy the world herself with her berserk dance. In an attempt to subdue his wife, Shiva then lays on the floor in front of Kali, who in her delirious state does not notice his presence and steps on him. Shamed that she had showed such disgraceful behavior, she bites her tongue in humiliation. The last scene of the above tale is illustrated in a lot of imagery, and while the tale itself has a lot of variations, many Hindus will arrive at the same resolution. It is in this perception that many contradictions lie. Another question rises, What does Kali s tongue biting really mean? Most Hindus will claim that it is to show shame, which is what the action means in Bengali culture, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
