Nathan Hale s Last Words
I only regret that, I have but one life to lose for my country . These were Nathan Hale s last words
before he was hanged by the British army for espionage in 1776. Nathan Hale, born on June 6th, 1755
in Coventry, Connecticut, spent much of his life serving for the public good. After graduating from
Yale University with honors in 1773, he decided to become a teacher and was so for about three years.
However, shortly after Great Britain began imposing a variety of taxes on the colonies in order to pay
off the debt following the French and Indian War, the future Americans came to find themselves
calling for complete independence, beginning the American Revolution. Once the war began, Hale
immediately quit his job and enlisted in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had a job that he liked and he was making a fair amount of money with it. He could have kept this
lifestyle and been very successful. However, he cared so much about the Patriot cause that he decided
to drop everything that he had worked for his whole life and join the revolutionary forces. A little after
a year of joining the Continental Army, commander George Washington came to realize that he
needed to find out where the British were planning to go so his forces can stop them. At that moment
he called upon Lt.Col. Thomas Knowlton to recruit some members of his rank to act as spies.
However, Knowlton did not want to do this, as he told Washington: I m willing to fight the British
and, if need be, die a soldier s death in battle, but as for going among them in disguise and being taken
and hung up like a dog, I ll not do it. This is where Nathan Hale stepped in. He disguised himself as a
Dutch schoolteacher and soon crossed enemy lines in an attempt to find out vital information about
the British army for the Continental forces. Every soldier knew, including Nathan Hale, the dangers of
spying as they were considered to be illegal and if they were caught they could be subject to
execution. This is precisely why Knowlton did not let his ranks partake in this activity. He knew the
risks and how dangerous it was. However, despite Nathan Hale having knowledge of the risks
involved, he put them all aside as he cared about the

How Did God Gave Moses Health Rules For Freedom From...
Summary None of These Diseases 1 5 God gave Moses health rules for freedom from diseases and
pus does not promote healing. The idea of putting something in the wound creating pus, which infects
the wound is the way the ancient Egyptians medicine practiced. Epidemics killed thousands as well
meaning doctors choose to infect the wounds of their patients. The doctors that have listened to the
biblical health rules prevented the spread of infection and epidemics. Leprosy killed millions and
spread terror throughout the medieval days. While doctors had not a clue as to how this epidemic
started or how to treat it, the church leadership abided by the instructions of Moses, given to him by
God. A person with leprosy was to live outside the camp away from people, not because he was being
punished, but to keep the spreading of the disease to the people. Norway had an epidemic in the late
1700s. they did not understand that the disease spread, and it became out of control, until Norway
acted on the biblical rules to separate the diseased people. God promised His people that if they
listened to His rules, He would not put none of these diseases upon them. ... Show more content on

The interns and the doctor went from putting their hands in corpse to delivering babies. This infected
the new mothers and the babies, killing more mothers then if the mother stayed home to have her

they were spreading diseases, however they washed and waited, and the labor fever decreased. The

The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bags
Since 1985, America has been using plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles
making them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super
markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing
up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles
making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers
know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only
paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from
creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were
first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ;
made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to
terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out
plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural
resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any
supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t
much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable
bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. They both require the
same materials for creation such as oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels). Fossil fuels are the prehistoric
resources formed by plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. These fuels won t
be replaced for another millions of years to come, that is why they re called non renewable resources.
Plastic is very valuable, but humans decide that is more than okay to litter these valuable resources
than to recycle it and prevent some of the corruption and over usage of resources we may not have in a
distant future. Although plastic bags, as well as paper bags, can be recycled in order to postpone
running out of resources, the creation and

How Did Qin Shi Huang-Di Unified China
Qin Shi Huang di was an effective leader for China because he unified China and made it as a whole.
This was very important because he was able to do the impossible, China was separated into seven
families and he took the advantage of making China into one whole family. These seven families were
called: Zhao, Yeh, Chi, Hah, Wei, Chin, and Chu (First Emperor). He also undertook multiple
construction projects and other projects that seemed almost impossible. An example of this is, when he
decided to build the construction of the Great Wall of China, something he is most famous for is the
fact that he built six feet tall terracotta warriors. He built hundreds of thousands of them because he
feared that all the people he killed would come after

Personal Ambition In Macbeth
Personal ambition was an important value during the Renaissance time period in England. Personal
ambition was also a vital part of two of the most prominent novels in england s history, Paradise Lost
by John Milton and Macbeth by William Shakespeare. It In each story, both of the main female
characters, Eve and Lady Macbeth, portray the idea of personal ambition at its best by their ability to
manipulate. Lady Macbeth is the one who takes advantage of her husband s, Macbeth, emotions in
order to become queen. Eve, however, is very curious about herself and after she eats the fruit from
the forbidden tree she starts to view herself as Adam s equal and wants to possibly be superior to him.
Both Shakespeare and Milton viewed ambition as a strength but at the same time it can be a weakness
and the downfall for certain people or characters in life or stories. Lady Macbeth as a character was
very ambitious. She is debatably one of the more powerful characters in all of literature. Her burning
ambition to be queen is the single feature that Shakespeare developed far beyond that of her
counterpart in the historical story he used as his source. Lady Macbeth is the one who originally plots
duncan s murder and manipulates Macbeth into proceeding with the murder by questioning his
manhood saying, To be the same in thine own act and valour. As thou art in desire? Wouldst thou have
that. Which thou esteem st the ornament of life, And live a coward in thine own esteem, Letting I

Amusing Ourselves To Death By Neil Postman
Postman: Rant or Reason?
In his novel, Amusing Ourselves to Death , author Neil Postman describes to the reader, in detail, the
immediate and future dangers of television. The arguement starts out in a logical manner, explaining
first the differences between today s media driven society, and yesterday s typographic America .
Postman goes on to discuss in the second half of his book the effects of today s media, politics on
television, religion on television, and finally televised educational programs. All, he says, are making
a detrimental imprint on our society, its values, and its standards. Postman explains that the media
consists of fragment[s] of news (100), and politics are merely a fashion show. Although Postman s

raised on such a format simply cannot endure lengthy debates or speeches. They seem neither exciting

politicians and presidents have adjusted their means of communication as well. It is hard to imagine
the present occupant of the White House being capable of constructing such clauses in similar
circumstances. (Postman addressing a very lengthy and inticrate live rebuttal made by Lincoln in
response to one of Douglas statements, 46) Today s politicians know that in order to reach audiences,
their statements need to be short and sweet . Unfortunately this sort of information shortening is not
the only weakness which plagues television s functionality as a means of communication.

Research Paper On Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Introduction Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a painful repetitive motion injury in the wrist that can
develop in one or both hands. The syndrome starts as a numbness in the palm and spreads to the
fingers that are innervate by the median nerve. If the condition worsens, pain can replace the
numbness and spread to the elbows and shoulders, effecting your activities of daily living. Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome is increasingly reported every year and tends to effects women more then men due
to pregnancy. Thankfully, it has many different treatment plans that can cure or help decrease the pain

The Agent s Basic Duties
The Agent s Basic Duties The agency relationship is defined as the fiduciary relationship which results
from the manifestation of consent by one person to another that the other shall act in his behalf and
subject to his contract, and consent by the other so to act. Agents obligations relating to their players
are defind not only by contact, but by the fiduciary characteristics of the relationship. The agent owes
his/her player a lot of things in their basic care to their player. These things include the fiduciary duty
of undivided loyalty and the duty to act in good faith at all times. The player is going to entrust this
agent with all of their fortune, reputation, and legal rights and responsibilities. Along with all of these
duties the agent is going to have to abide by what the player wants and carry out what their desire are.
This is a responsibility of the agent and it must only do what is desired by and for the player and must
not carry out its own business affairs. The agent must obey all of his/her players lawful instruction no
matter how arbitrary or capricious any of those instructions seem to the agent or anyone else.
However, if the player instructs the agent to perform something illegal, like bribe someone, the agent
does not have to comply.
By far the most important part of the sports industry is the duties of a sports agent. The agent is acting

In terms of the utility of this decision to hunt the gray whale, the tribal leaders are attempting to instill
a pride and happiness in the tribe s traditions to bolster their youth. They are not concerned in the
possible consequences of the actions this hunt may environmentally cause later down the road to the
whale population. In Kant s Theory we learned that Kant objected to the idea that morality could
depend on consequences (Burnor and Raley 156), thus the tribe utilizing Kant s theory by primarily
being concerned with instilling pride in its cultural traditions at whatever the possible cost. The Makah
tribal leaders are motivated by their perceived cultural, moral duty to the younger generations and
what they ought to do (Burnor and Raley 217). The Makah tribe is attempting to exercise its right of
property concerning the whales, and its long historical, cultural tradition of hunting them for rites of
passage to manhood and pride. According to Locke this right of property involves everything over
which one should be able to control within their domain of autonomy (Burnor and Raley 193). The
Makah tribe feels it has autonomy over its traditions and religious beliefs. The tribal leaders feel that
they have the moral privilege under natural rights to utilize, or exercise control over the gray whale

Similarities Between Pike And Hunting Snake
Both Hunting Snake and Pike show the theme of nature is significant in a number of ways. One way
in which this is shown is through describing the physical appearance of the pike and snake, and how

animals along with the danger that lies within nature

Five Reasons Your AC Repair
AC Repair: Five Reasons Your AC May Need Repair
In the Florida heat, the best way to keep your cool daily is to ensure that the home s AC system is
operating properly whenever you click it on at the thermostat. Your system will require periodic
service throughout its lifespan to keep it working at peak efficiency. Even with this regular service,
there are still times that your system will need repairing or replacing. We provide five reasons below
that the AC may need a repair.
1. Improper Drainage of Condensation Will Cause Issues
When the evaporator drain line develops a clog, it will cause condensation to build up in the drain pan.
Once the water is high enough, it will trigger a sensor that shuts off the blower. In addition, the drain
pan can overflow if it overfills and this may lead to damage to the floor underneath the blower. If your
blower is in the attic as other ones are today, this may lead to ... Show more content on

When this filter is full, the airflow cannot freely move into the blower, and this will cause it to stop
working in a proper manner. Certain filters are disposable while others are permanent, cleanable ones.
Whichever your system has, you should clean or change your filter every 30 to 60 days. Blowers can
completely breakdown from this problem when you neglect to follow this recommendation. Another
issue that may cause insufficient airflow in your system is greenery or other items too near to your
condenser unit outdoors. Keep the area around this unit open to allow the air to flow freely.
4. The Condenser Fan Quits Running
At times, the condenser fan quits running, and this stops air from flowing through the unit properly.
One reason that this issue may occur is that the capacitor needs replacing. The other reason for this to
happen is that the fan motor is not operational.

For a brief period after the First World War, Britain faced an economic boom. Workers were in a
strong position and businesses were optimistic, believing that world demand for British goods would
increase and trading would return to the success it had prior to the war. However, in 1920, Britain
experienced their worst economic slump in history. This was caused by a poor performance in foreign
markets due to the lack of reinvestment, modernisation in British industry and increased competition

Before the war wages depended on how cheap and easy there work was at each individual mine,
therefore wages varied from mine to mine. Most miners hoped that all mines would remain
nationalised after the war; however in 1921 Lloyd George allowed the mines to go back into private
ownership. This was because the royal Commission couldn t agree on a suitable solution to the

the best idea but however this did not happen. For miners, the idea was not acceptable and should
have not been considered in the first place, they were already working in miserable conditions.
The government initially decided that the conflict between the mine owners and miners was none of
their concern. But in 1925, the Trade Union Congress became involved and threatened to lock out

dramatic Caucasian oppression of African Americans. James Baldwin also includes images of stone

Causes Of Animal Mummification
Mummies, labyrinthine like tombs of past kings, and a plethora of anthropomorphic animal gods
remain the most prominent and iconic images of ancient Egypt in many people s minds even in the
present day. Those common images have shaped the idea that ancient Egypt was obsessed with death.
A mindset like that is understandable due to the high amount of gods the ancient Egyptians had
dedicated to death and the afterlife#. However, the ancient Egyptians did not worship death. They
merely required more odd sounding traditions to be followed due to their religion. For example,
burying their personal belongings including food and pets, or more iconic, the preservation of bodies
by mummification if possible. Perhaps explaining the method and various reasons for mummification
and other topics surrounding it will show that the ancient Egyptians were not a civilization that
worshiped death, and that they simply followed these in some ways strange religious traditions in an
attempt to rest in peace. There is one type of mummification that most people may not know about.
That type is animal mummification#. There are multiple reasons ancient Egyptians mummified
animals. Some Egyptians wanted their pets to be buried with them, that meant mummification if they
could afford it. The other main reason for animal mummification is for offerings to the different gods
in the Egyptian pantheon. When an Egyptian offered a mummified animal to a god, the idea was that
the creature would go and

Rube Goldberg Machine Contest Essay
The Rube Goldberg Machine Contest (RGMC) is named after the late cartoonist Reuben Lucius
Goldberg. Having died in 1970, he lives on in the GMC as puzzling machines with crazy mechanisms
are built in the spirit of his illustrations.
For 55 years the award winning engineer turned cartoonist drew machines and contraptions that
satirized the new machines and gadgets being built. His drawings, using simple gadgets and household
items already in use, were incredibly complex and wacky but had an ingenious, logical progression to
them. Goldberg s inventions became so widely known that Webster Dictionary added the term Rube
Goldberg to its listings, defining it as accomplishing by extremely complex, roundabout means what
seemingly could be done simply. In the words of the inventor, the machines were a symbol of man s
capacity for exerting maximum effort to achieve minimal results. He believed that most people
preferred doing things the hard way than using a more simple and direct path to accomplish a goal.

Ernest Hemingway Style Analysis
The Themes and Styles of Ernest Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway was regarded as one of the greatest American novelists and short story writers,
winning both the Pulitzer and Nobel Prizes. His best known works include The Sun Also Rises, A
Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and The Old Man and the Sea. He is also famous for his
terse dialogue and understatement. (Frohock 1) His themes tend to be of courage, gender, emotions,
and image. Hemingway s history as a soldier and world traveler is what influenced the plot and
themes of his novels and short stories.
Born on July 21, 1899, Ernest Hemingway grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and served in Italy
during World War I as an ambulance driver for the American Red Cross. During the war Hemingway
was injured on the Austro Italian front and sent to a hospital in Milan. (Young 2) After the war he
worked as a foreign correspondent for the Toronto Star, which allowed him to travel frequently. As a
journalist he made multiple trips to Spain during their civil war and Europe during the Second World
War. Trips like this during his career in journalism ultimately led to his even more successful career in
short story and novel writing. (Young 3)
As stated by Frohock, Hemingway writes in a terse style, meaning that his sentences lack unnecessary
details and he uses only the bare minimum amount of words to convey his message. Terse could be
described as telling a story in the simplest, most straight forward fashion. Another

Sociology of Tourism
Introduction
We have to understand the several concepts by means of definition and its integration.
Tourism Hunziker and Krapf, in 1941, defined tourism as the sum of the phenomena and relationships
arising from the travel and stay of non residents, insofar as they do not lead to permanent residence
and are not connected with any earning activity. In 1976, the Tourism Society of England s definition
was: Tourism is the temporary, short term movement of people to destination outside the places where
they normally live and work and their activities during the stay at each destination. It includes

Dangers Of Music
The Dangers of Music As one may tune in to some of their favorite music, has he or she ever
wondered what music does to someone? Before one decides to listen to some music, he or she should
think of what this music will do if they listen to it. One should always be careful of what they do or
even listen to. It may not seem harmful, but the matter is actually very serious. Parents may perceive it
to be innocent and normal when children and teenagers listen to music, but in reality, sometimes
unbeknownst to the parents, music has deep psychological implications for children and teenagers
(Mushtaq 107). The Dangers of Music are that it affects the brain, body, feelings, and desires in a very
negative way. The first danger of Music is that it affects the Brain. Music affects the memory, the
limbic system, and concentration and judgment of the person. When music is played, it acts much like
an intoxicant, in that it makes a person forget about his or her surroundings. It takes the mind into a
delusional state. In the realm of mind, there is mounting evidence that certain types of music have a
negative effect on one s ability to think and learn, especially at the time he or she is listening to the
music. Studies at two separate universities, for example, have found that rats have a much more
difficult time learning to pass through a maze if they are subjected to rock music... Music blurs the
critical judgment of the brain (Mushtaq 56 57). This shows that music is dangerous and

Abstract: The bromination of the alkane was calculated and the overall percent yield was 96.35% with
the percent yield with the calculated theoretical yield was 79.85%. The addition reaction was
synthesized with a mechanism using 3 steps. The E Stilbene reacted with pyridinium hydromide

mL of acetic acid was dissolved. A hot water bath was prepared and the mixture was warmed until the
solid is completely dissolved. After the solution was dissolved, 1.02 gram of pyridinium hydromide
perbromide was added. The crystals around the flask were rinsed with a small amount of acetic acid
and the solution was continued in the hot water bath for one to two minutes. The stilbene dibromide
precipitated immediately as small plates. The mixture was cooled under tap water helping crystals
form. The mixture was cooled before collecting the product by a vacuum filtration. For the crystals not
to stick in the flask, the solution was washed with small amounts of ice cold methanol. When done
pouring, the isolated solid dried for a few minutes in the filtration. To increase drying time, the
crystals were pressed down. When the solid was collected, data such as melting point, percent yield
and infrared spectroscopy spectrum values were collected. Results and Discussion: When all the data
was collected, the solid was weighed and in total the watch glass with the solid weighed 16.52 grams.
When the weight of the watch glass was subtracted, 0.77g of the solid stilbene bromide is left. In order
to calculate the percent yield, the theoretical yield is taken.

mean you can well adapt to what happening around you, this is me because if the mood is down I can
sense that and switch down a level, or if I need to be in a such mood like sympathetic I can again

Summary Of Martin Luther s Letter To The Archbishop
The letter written by Martin Luther to the Archbishop of Mainz stated simply, clarifies why
indulgences should not be sold. Martin Luther implores with the Archbishop to have pity on him for
being so opinionated to a person so holy and significant, as ordinarily he would not dare, but he must
tell the Archbishop his thoughts. To be specific, his long time disagreement with the selling of
indulgences, but he can stand it no longer. The Archbishop is warned that St Peter s is selling the

people to believe that they and their loved ones are saved from Purgatory. No matter how appalling the

The Archbishop is reminded by Luther that all people must work out their salvation themselves.
Moreover, indulgences are taught in church, yet devotion and love are seldom preached, despite being
much more important. What was significant was that the people should learn the bible and the grace of
God, as indulgences were never mentioned in the bible. Luther then pleads that he himself is helpless
to do anything to aid this problem, but the Archbishop can, if he so chooses.
I believe Martin Luther wrote this letter out of desperation. Out of his eyes, the church was not
following God s lead. This must have terrified him, and made him feel like he had to do something.
Luther obviously cared very much about the church, so when he thought the church was not following
the bible, it must have sent him into a panic. To Luther, the selling and purchasing of indulgencies was
nothing but a scam for the church to make money.
Due to the letter and Luther s 95 Theses, Martin Luther was excommunicated. Consequently, Luther
and his supporters reformed the church. This reformation caused many people to lessen their support

A crime area is a place where an identified crime has occured, and it is of importance since it contains
pieces that are vital in determining who committed a crime. Besides, having the details of the one that

Analysis Of Taming Of The Shrew
Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, the indication of a woman being the possession of her

appropriate manners toward a man in advance before her sister Bianca can wed. Bianca wishes to
marry one of her suitors/bachelors, but she can t due to tradition because the older sister has to marry
first.
In 10 Things I Hate About You, a analogous argument, the notion of a girl requiring appropriate
behavior is exemplified. There are many resemblances and dissimilarities in characters of both, for
instance, Katherine and Kat, the two main focuses, both come from families with a decent quantity of
prosperity, as seen from the housing in both aspects, as in the play, she lives in type of a Roman Villa,
and in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, they live in a quiet, large community. An additional
likeness remains that Petruchio is compensated to get married to Katherine, however in the up to date
version; Patrick is also compensated to go out with Katherine. In the end, Patrick and Petruchio have
tamed Katherine because she is now willing to marry/date.
The plots are very parallel. The straightforward plots of Taming of the Shrew and 10 Things I Hate

Fire Imagery in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
Incomplete Works Cited
The prevalence of fire imagery and it s multitude of metaphoric uses in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
expresses two things that could not be expressed openly in the Victorian Period, which are mainly
passion and sexuality. Brontes writing was dictated by the morals of her society, but her ideas were
not. Jane Eyre was written with the Victorian reader in mind. Bronte knew that if she were to write
about these two things directly she would have to face possible rejection of her book. A resolution to
this dilemma was to awaken the audience in a way that society deemed not only respectable, but also
acceptable. So Bronte creates Jane, and Jane becomes the embodiment of ... Show more content on

In this passage from the novel, Jane begins to understand what will become of her if she gives into the
consuming passion that she often feels:
A ridge of lighted heath, alive, glancing, devouring, would have been a great emblem of my mind
when I accused and menaced Mrs. Reed; the same ridge, black and blasted after the flames are dead,
would have represented as meetly my subsequent condition. (69; ch. 4)
Bronte takes the fire and transforms it to illustrate the image of sexuality and passion. By doing this,
she also proposes the way in which internalized feelings of opposing ideas give into self depleting
energy through the loss of self control. Here, Jane has the fear of becoming like Mrs. Reed. She comes
to the realization that if this is not what she wants to be like, then she must keep her passions under
control. Otherwise, she could become black and blasted after the flames have died. This is presented
to embody what Victorian society believed to be true and is a fine example of everything that it
despises, which is namely the expression of passion. The fulfillment of self becomes the foundation of
society s views, on which the fears of women and their passionate behaviors are laid.
Indeed, fire and tumult are major themes within the novel, but these images also invade Victorian
arguments pertaining to a women s place in society, and the possible consequences that could occur if

has three fleur de lies and one chevron. It also contains the colors blue and gold. On the coat of arms
are colors called tinctures. Tinctures are the colors on your shield. My shield includes blue and gold.
The blue stands for fidelity, steadfastness, strength, and loyalty. The gold stands understand respect,
virtue, majesty, and generosity. These traits define my family perfectly because my family is really
generous, strong, and loyal. My family is generous, because because everyday my parents sacrifice
their time to care for me and my siblings. We are also strong because all of us play sports and workout
everyday. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ordinaries are the nine most simplest charges on a coat of arms. Lines of separation are the edges of
an ordinary that aren t straight. Marks of cadency are the symbols indicated the order in which a male
child was born in a family. Crosses are common charges found on the coat of arms. On my coat of
arms I have one ordinary. It is a chevron. The chevron means protection. This is true because me and
my family are really protective over each other. I don t have a line of separation but if I were to pick
one that best represents my family it would be potenty. Which means one who was injured in battle.
This is perfect because I have several family members who served in the army and got injured. On my
shield I don t have any marks of cadency. I would pick the first son because there is only one son in
my family. I don t have any crosses on my shield, but if I did I would pick the christian cross because

Child Labor in the Textile Industry in the Early Nineteenth Century
In article C the use of language and style indicate its origins as an official document in many ways. In
the title it states that it is an act , this is a term used for a legislative law that has been passed by
parliamentary. Further confirmation of this can be found by the use of the words regulation , (control
by rule) and enacted , (a law), and in the final sentence it states that this is law . The style of writing is
Old English and very formal this also indicates that it is an official document. It is addressed to the
Masters who were the owners of the cotton mills and factories and informed, them that they would be

The evidence given by Robert Owen, a mill owner, clearly indicates his strong views on the damage
being done to young children s physical and mental health, including deformed limbs, stunted growth
and being very slow academic learners. Sir Robert Peel Senior based his evidence on well known
opinion, stating that children of 8 or 9 years of age who were confined in the factories for not less than
15 hours a day could not bear that degree of hardship without damaging their health.
The views of Lord Lascelles, Mr. Finlay and GA Lee showed little concern for the children s health
their extracts confirm the basic economic need of the children to work and the factories to employ
them. They agreed that legislation was not necessary. Lord Lascelles was more concerned with the
interference of the principle of free labour and that more legislative measures would follow. Mr.
Finlay s view was that legislation would be detrimental to the vitally important manufacturing
industry and that consideration should be given to the fact that it employed more people than all of the
other manufacturer s in the country put together .
GA Lee appeared to be more concerned

Decision Making That Permits Influence An Investment Abroad
INTRODUCTION:
The world is changing more rapidly; consequently organizations are promptly the way they operate as
well to ensure survival and growth in high velocity turbulent markets. To succeed an organization has
to anticipate, react and even lead in terms of strategic decisions to enhance profits. It is pertinent to
understand that a series of systematic decisions is undertaken before an investment abroad is carried
on with. According to Sundaram Stewart 1992 there is a system of decision making that permits
influence which refers to the firm s ability to coordinate and control endogenous organizational
variables and quasi endogenous market variables (coupled with exogenous factors (e.g exchange rates,
regulations, tariffs and political set up). Investment decisions are critical for the performance of an
organization. From a micro perspective, they are fundamental for the growth of individual companies,
increasing their efficiency by reducing per unit costs, enhancing profits by tapping new market
segments and exploiting more resources. At a company s level, an investment decision abroad is much
more complicated and requires more research; it is more of a multi criteria process taking into account
numerous factors. These are primarily economic and risk factors, political and social environment and
government regulations. Naturally, the effects of these factors on decisions of individual companies
may vary significantly. Each of the risk has been separately defined

Jimi Hendrix Slot Review Essay
Jimi Hendrix Slot Review
Net Entertainment s upcoming Jimi Hendrix video slot is scheduled to be the second rock n roll
themed video slot released by the Scandinavian online casino software developers this year. It is, of
course, based on the legendary guitarist himself. The slot uses some very psychedelic imagery, and
cartoony ones at that to showcase its theme.
One of the niftiest features of this new slot is that you can listen to the master himself. At the bottom
of the reels, players will be able to select from a small number of Jimi Hendrix songs to listen to
whilst they spin the reels. This playlist feature also made an appearance in NetEnt s Guns N Roses
slot, and will likely appear in their third and final rock n roll slot, based on Motörhead, which should
be unveiled in September.

Bonus Games
Once the bonus round begins, players could win one of four features. There is an instant coin cash
prize, a Crosstown Traffic free spins bonus round, a Purple Haze free spins bonus round, and a Little
Wing free spins bonus feature. With 3 free spin bonuses available, this makes the slot really enticing
for all players. The coin win feature on the other hand, hands you a multiplier which is worth between
8x and 30x your total bet.
Mobile version
Given that Net Entertainment regularly release their slots to be compatible with their own NetEnt
Touch mobile platform, the Jimi Hendrix slot is certainly going to be available for mobile slot lovers.
The mobile version of this slot will be launched at the same time as the online version.
Overall
Jimi Hendrix is set to be a mighty slot release for Net Entertainment. The game is scheduled for an
April 21 release, and should be available at all good online and mobile casinos either powered by
NetEnt directly, or those which carry NetEnt

3 Types Of State Legislatures
Felipe Lozano
The United States has based its political roots over certain rules, one of them being the separation of
powers between the federal government and the states. This rule gives every state certain liberty to the
states, such as choosing their own type of state legislature. In the United States, the state legislatures
have been chosen according to the commodities of each state, their necessities and other factors, such
as geographic region, population size, or area size. The comparison between the several options of
state legislatures can be observable through the level of professionalization that every state has
produced throughout the legislatorial period. There are three different types of legislature in the
United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the State Legislature of Texas, as a hybrid legislature, has proved both annual and
biennial sessions and budgets, but even then, it has been a challenge to achieve a great rate of passing
bills. Even when the Governor of Texas has the power to summon a special session; like 16 other
states, the rate of passing bills has been decreasing lower than 25% from the total of bills proposed
(Zelinski, 2017). Furthermore, the session length is the factor that engulfs the management of time
over legislatorial sessions. This control opens a possible influence over the political agenda of the
party in control over the legislature, where there is a potential advantage taken by the governors, thus
impacting state business and affairs. To illustrate this, the usual time of session for the North Dakota
legislature is sixty six days over a two year period, there would be a 0.78% increase in the state s
budget by the propositions of the governor (Kousser and Philips, 2009). In addition, the variation on
the amount of compensation for legislators has become a key factor over the professionalization level
throughout the states. For example, a lawmaker in Illinois would receive a base salary of $67,836 per
year and a per diem rate, per each day of session, of $111. On the other hand, a state lawmaker in
Idaho is going to receive $16,438 as a base salary and a per diem rate ranging from $25 to $122
(NCSL, 2014 State Legislator Compensation). Therefore, it is common to see that states where their
legislators are being paid higher salaries, such as in California, Pennsylvania or Illinois, are being
ranked at a higher level of professionalization, rather than part time legislature states, like New
Hampshire or Utah. As a factor of

First Impressions In Seventh Grade By Gary Soto
First Impressions How important are first impressions? Some people may think first impressions aren
t important. In fact, they are extremely important. First impressions are the way you first appear to
someone, it s the way they think of you. These impressions can affect you later in life. For example, in
Gary Soto s short story Seventh Grade Victor, a seventh grade student, really wants this girl, Teresa, to
be his girl. Teresa is in his French class. The class gets their first impression of Victor when Mr.
Bueller asked if anyone spoke French. Victor raised his hand, (37). Now everyone thinks Victor can
speak French. Later in the story Teresa asks if he will help her study, He was sweaty in shame, (38).
Since she thought he could speak French, once Teresa finds out he actually can t speak French their
relationship could be ruined. If first impressions are lies, not your true self, it can ruin your
relationships with others later. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The children egt their first look at teacher when they are crowding around the door and she comes up
behind them, What s this, what s this? barked a stern raspish voice, (162). The way Miss Oriville
snaps at them comes across as mean and strict. Since she stays a strict character throughout most of
the story, the student grew to dislike her more and more each day. They did not like her so much to the
point where which when the found out she was leaving, they want revenge. They plucked the leaves
off the plant so the stalk twisted up bare and naked. (168). Ever since the first interaction with Miss
Oriville, the kids didn t like her which is why they wanted revenge so

  • 2. Nathan Hale s Last Words I only regret that, I have but one life to lose for my country . These were Nathan Hale s last words before he was hanged by the British army for espionage in 1776. Nathan Hale, born on June 6th, 1755 in Coventry, Connecticut, spent much of his life serving for the public good. After graduating from Yale University with honors in 1773, he decided to become a teacher and was so for about three years. However, shortly after Great Britain began imposing a variety of taxes on the colonies in order to pay off the debt following the French and Indian War, the future Americans came to find themselves calling for complete independence, beginning the American Revolution. He could have kept this lifestyle and been very successful. However, he cared so much about the Patriot cause that he decided to drop everything that he had worked for his whole life and join the revolutionary forces. A little after a year of joining the Continental Army, commander George Washington came to realize that he needed to find out where the British were planning to go so his forces can stop them. At that moment he called upon Lt.Col. Thomas Knowlton to recruit some members of his rank to act as spies. However, Knowlton did not want to do this, as he told Washington: I m willing to fight the British and, if need be, die a soldier s death in battle, but as for going among them in disguise and being taken and hung up like a dog, I ll not do it. This is where Nathan Hale stepped in. He disguised himself as a Dutch schoolteacher and soon crossed enemy lines in an attempt to find out vital information about the British army for the Continental forces. Every soldier knew, including Nathan Hale, the dangers of spying as they were considered to be illegal and if they were caught they could be subject to execution. This is precisely why Knowlton did not let his ranks partake in this activity. He knew the risks and how dangerous it was. The idea of putting something in the wound creating pus, which infects the wound is the way the ancient Egyptians medicine practiced. Epidemics killed thousands as well meaning doctors choose to infect the wounds of their patients. The doctors that have listened to the biblical health rules prevented the spread of infection and epidemics. Leprosy killed millions and spread terror throughout the medieval days. While doctors had not a clue as to how this epidemic started or how to treat it, the church leadership abided by the instructions of Moses, given to him by God. A person with leprosy was to live outside the camp away from people, not because he was being punished, but to keep the spreading of the disease to the people. Norway had an epidemic in the late 1700s. they did not understand that the disease spread, and it became out of control, until Norway acted on the biblical rules to separate the diseased people. • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bags Since 1985, America has been using plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles making them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ; made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. They both require the same materials for creation such as oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels). Fossil fuels are the prehistoric resources formed by plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. These fuels won t be replaced for another millions of years to come, that is why they re called non renewable resources. Plastic is very valuable, but humans decide that is more than okay to litter these valuable resources than to recycle it and prevent some of the corruption and over usage of resources we may not have in a distant future. • 8. Personal Ambition In Macbeth Personal ambition was an important value during the Renaissance time period in England. Personal ambition was also a vital part of two of the most prominent novels in england s history, Paradise Lost by John Milton and Macbeth by William Shakespeare. It In each story, both of the main female characters, Eve and Lady Macbeth, portray the idea of personal ambition at its best by their ability to manipulate. Lady Macbeth is the one who takes advantage of her husband s, Macbeth, emotions in order to become queen. Eve, however, is very curious about herself and after she eats the fruit from the forbidden tree she starts to view herself as Adam s equal and wants to possibly be superior to him. Both Shakespeare and Milton viewed ambition as a strength but at the same time it can be a weakness and the downfall for certain people or characters in life or stories. Lady Macbeth as a character was very ambitious. She is debatably one of the more powerful characters in all of literature. Her burning ambition to be queen is the single feature that Shakespeare developed far beyond that of her counterpart in the historical story he used as his source. Lady Macbeth is the one who originally plots duncan s murder and manipulates Macbeth into proceeding with the murder by questioning his manhood saying, To be the same in thine own act and valour. As thou art in desire? Wouldst thou have that. Which thou esteem st the ornament of life, And live a coward in thine own esteem, Letting I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most miners hoped that all mines would remain nationalised after the war; however in 1921 Lloyd George allowed the mines to go back into private ownership. This was because the royal Commission couldn t agree on a suitable solution to the problems in the coal mining industry. Most members agreed that mines being nationalised would be the best idea but however this did not happen. For miners, the idea was not acceptable and should have not been considered in the first place, they were already working in miserable conditions. Causes Of Animal Mummification Mummies, labyrinthine like tombs of past kings, and a plethora of anthropomorphic animal gods remain the most prominent and iconic images of ancient Egypt in many people s minds even in the present day. Those common images have shaped the idea that ancient Egypt was obsessed with death. A mindset like that is understandable due to the high amount of gods the ancient Egyptians had dedicated to death and the afterlife#. However, the ancient Egyptians did not worship death. They merely required more odd sounding traditions to be followed due to their religion. For example, burying their personal belongings including food and pets, or more iconic, the preservation of bodies by mummification if possible. Perhaps explaining the method and various reasons for mummification and other topics surrounding it will show that the ancient Egyptians were not a civilization that worshiped death, and that they simply followed these in some ways strange religious traditions in an attempt to rest in peace. There is one type of mummification that most people may not know about. That type is animal mummification#. There are multiple reasons ancient Egyptians mummified animals. Some Egyptians wanted their pets to be buried with them, that meant mummification if they could afford it. The other main reason for animal mummification is for offerings to the different gods in the Egyptian pantheon. Before one decides to listen to some music, he or she should think of what this music will do if they listen to it. One should always be careful of what they do or even listen to. It may not seem harmful, but the matter is actually very serious. Parents may perceive it to be innocent and normal when children and teenagers listen to music, but in reality, sometimes unbeknownst to the parents, music has deep psychological implications for children and teenagers (Mushtaq 107). The Dangers of Music are that it affects the brain, body, feelings, and desires in a very negative way. The first danger of Music is that it affects the Brain. Music affects the memory, the limbic system, and concentration and judgment of the person. When music is played, it acts much like an intoxicant, in that it makes a person forget about his or her surroundings. It takes the mind into a delusional state. In the realm of mind, there is mounting evidence that certain types of music have a negative effect on one s ability to think and learn, especially at the time he or she is listening to the music. Essay on Fire Imagery in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre Fire Imagery in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre Incomplete Works Cited The prevalence of fire imagery and it s multitude of metaphoric uses in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre expresses two things that could not be expressed openly in the Victorian Period, which are mainly passion and sexuality. Brontes writing was dictated by the morals of her society, but her ideas were not. Jane Eyre was written with the Victorian reader in mind. Bronte knew that if she were to write about these two things directly she would have to face possible rejection of her book. A resolution to this dilemma was to awaken the audience in a way that society deemed not only respectable, but also acceptable. So Bronte creates Jane, and Jane becomes the embodiment of ... (69; ch. 4) Bronte takes the fire and transforms it to illustrate the image of sexuality and passion. By doing this, she also proposes the way in which internalized feelings of opposing ideas give into self depleting energy through the loss of self control. Here, Jane has the fear of becoming like Mrs. Reed. She comes to the realization that if this is not what she wants to be like, then she must keep her passions under control. Otherwise, she could become black and blasted after the flames have died. This is presented to embody what Victorian society believed to be true and is a fine example of everything that it despises, which is namely the expression of passion. The fulfillment of self becomes the foundation of society s views, on which the fears of women and their passionate behaviors are laid. • 39. Why Do Families Have A Coat Of Arms Most families have a coat of arms. A coat of arms is a shield of a person, family, corporation, or country. These were used on the field of battle to identify a family because when everyone is covered in head to toe in armour it is hard to tell who is who. I have a coat of arms myself. My coat of arms has three fleur de lies and one chevron. It also contains the colors blue and gold. On the coat of arms are colors called tinctures. Tinctures are the colors on your shield. My shield includes blue and gold. The blue stands for fidelity, steadfastness, strength, and loyalty. The gold stands understand respect, virtue, majesty, and generosity. These traits define my family perfectly because my family is really generous, strong, and loyal. My family is generous, because because everyday my parents sacrifice their time to care for me and my siblings. We are also strong because all of us play sports and workout everyday. In ... It is a chevron. The chevron means protection. This is true because me and my family are really protective over each other. I don t have a line of separation but if I were to pick one that best represents my family it would be potenty. Which means one who was injured in battle. This is perfect because I have several family members who served in the army and got injured. On my shield I don t have any marks of cadency. The evidence given by Robert Owen, a mill owner, clearly indicates his strong views on the damage being done to young children s physical and mental health, including deformed limbs, stunted growth and being very slow academic learners. Sir Robert Peel Senior based his evidence on well known opinion, stating that children of 8 or 9 years of age who were confined in the factories for not less than 15 hours a day could not bear that degree of hardship without damaging their health. The views of Lord Lascelles, Mr. Finlay and GA Lee showed little concern for the children s health their extracts confirm the basic economic need of the children to work and the factories to employ them. They agreed that legislation was not necessary. Lord Lascelles was more concerned with the interference of the principle of free labour and that more legislative measures would follow. Mr. Finlay s view was that legislation would be detrimental to the vitally important manufacturing industry and that consideration should be given to the fact that it employed more people than all of the other manufacturer s in the country put together . • 41. Decision Making That Permits Influence An Investment Abroad INTRODUCTION: The world is changing more rapidly; consequently organizations are promptly the way they operate as well to ensure survival and growth in high velocity turbulent markets. To succeed an organization has to anticipate, react and even lead in terms of strategic decisions to enhance profits. It is pertinent to understand that a series of systematic decisions is undertaken before an investment abroad is carried on with. According to Sundaram Stewart 1992 there is a system of decision making that permits influence which refers to the firm s ability to coordinate and control endogenous organizational variables and quasi endogenous market variables (coupled with exogenous factors (e.g exchange rates, regulations, tariffs and political set up). Investment decisions are critical for the performance of an organization. From a micro perspective, they are fundamental for the growth of individual companies, increasing their efficiency by reducing per unit costs, enhancing profits by tapping new market segments and exploiting more resources. At a company s level, an investment decision abroad is much more complicated and requires more research; it is more of a multi criteria process taking into account numerous factors. These are primarily economic and risk factors, political and social environment and government regulations. Naturally, the effects of these factors on decisions of individual companies may vary significantly. Each of the risk has been separately defined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. 3 Types Of State Legislatures Felipe Lozano The United States has based its political roots over certain rules, one of them being the separation of powers between the federal government and the states. This rule gives every state certain liberty to the states, such as choosing their own type of state legislature. In the United States, the state legislatures have been chosen according to the commodities of each state, their necessities and other factors, such as geographic region, population size, or area size. The comparison between the several options of state legislatures can be observable through the level of professionalization that every state has produced throughout the legislatorial period. There are three different types of legislature in the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the State Legislature of Texas, as a hybrid legislature, has proved both annual and biennial sessions and budgets, but even then, it has been a challenge to achieve a great rate of passing bills. Even when the Governor of Texas has the power to summon a special session; like 16 other states, the rate of passing bills has been decreasing lower than 25% from the total of bills proposed (Zelinski, 2017). Furthermore, the session length is the factor that engulfs the management of time over legislatorial sessions. This control opens a possible influence over the political agenda of the party in control over the legislature, where there is a potential advantage taken by the governors, thus impacting state business and affairs. To illustrate this, the usual time of session for the North Dakota legislature is sixty six days over a two year period, there would be a 0.78% increase in the state s budget by the propositions of the governor (Kousser and Philips, 2009). In addition, the variation on the amount of compensation for legislators has become a key factor over the professionalization level throughout the states. For example, a lawmaker in Illinois would receive a base salary of $67,836 per year and a per diem rate, per each day of session, of $111. On the other hand, a state lawmaker in Idaho is going to receive $16,438 as a base salary and a per diem rate ranging from $25 to $122 (NCSL, 2014 State Legislator Compensation). Therefore, it is common to see that states where their legislators are being paid higher salaries, such as in California, Pennsylvania or Illinois, are being ranked at a higher level of professionalization, rather than part time legislature states, like New Hampshire or Utah.
