How To Write A Cause And Effect Essay
Writing an essay on the intricacies of crafting a cause and effect essay presents its own set of
challenges. Firstly, it requires a deep understanding of the subject matter, as well as a clear grasp
of the cause-and-effect relationship. Research becomes crucial, demanding extensive exploration
to gather relevant information and examples to support the points made in the essay.
Structuring such an essay also poses a difficulty. Balancing the introduction, body, and
conclusion while maintaining a logical flow of ideas can be challenging. Ensuring that the causes
and effects are presented in a coherent manner and that the reader can follow the argument
requires careful planning and organization.
Moreover, finding the right tone and style is crucial. The essay should be informative yet
engaging, scholarly yet accessible. Striking this balance can be a complex task, requiring a keen
awareness of the target audience and the purpose of the essay.
Editing and revising are equally demanding. Reviewing the essay for clarity, coherence, and
consistency is essential. It necessitates a critical eye to identify any gaps in the argument or areas
where the cause-and-effect relationship could be strengthened.
In summary, writing an essay on how to craft a cause and effect essay is no small feat. It requires
in-depth knowledge, effective research skills, meticulous organization, and a keen editorial eye.
However, for those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that similar essays and a plethora of

Life As A Contest With Fate By Heinrich Von Kleist
When is the proper moment to think? Is it better to think before, during, or after an
action? The writer, Heinrich von Kleist, argues that one should think after an act.
He uses the example of a wrestler, The athlete, at that moment when he is holding
his opponent in his grip, simply has no recourse but to act spontaneously, on
inspiration; and if he begins to calculate which muscles to contract and which
limbs to move in order to throw him, he will always draw the short straw and be
thrown himself (Kleist, 1810). In this example Kleist is correct that it is more
appropriate to reflect on your actions rather, but is this logic acceptable in all
occasions? Or when an individual should think be dependent on the situation at
hand? In the same essay, Kleist states life itself is a contest with fate , however
should the entirety of life be treated as a contest (Kleist, 1810)?
To begin with, is it better to think while you act? In the example stated previously,
when the wrestler thought during he s match, he resulted as the loser. In the film
Fearless, Huo Yuannjia s father faced a similar scenario. During a match to determine
the better of two Wushu styles, Hou s father meets defeat when he became lost in
thought. In these situations, the individuals would have a higher chance of success if
they acted on intuition rather than critical thinking. On the other hand, would acting
on inspiration would be best during a test or homework assignment? While working

Examples Of Femininity In The 1950 s
The Feminine Mystique revealed the identity crisis among suburban women in the
1950s to 1960s. In the middle of twentieth century, the society suggested females that
the true feminine fulfillment was being good wives and mothers. Through the images
of happy American housewife in the television commercials, this gendernorm was
reinforced and influenced the whole nation. They (women) learned that truly feminine
women do not want careers, higher education, political rights the independence and
the opportunities that the old fashioned feminists fought for. (Friedan, 1963) The true
feminine, in contrast, was putting the husband and the family first. All a woman
needed to do was cleaning the house, preparing foods, taking care of kids, and loving
her husband. It seemed like being charming housewives was everything that a woman
can ever dreamed of. However, countless women experienced emptiness and
incompleteness, or the housewife s syndrome, during the time. The absence of sense

The crisis of masculinity created the needs of femininity. Through the othering
process , men were reminded to be masculine. Being an organizational man, who
went to work and provide food and money to the family, became another gender norm
for males. On the other side, women dyed their hair blonde, kept the nice shape of
bodies, and studied to attract their husbands. All of these was to fulfill the idealized
image of womanhood. While women trying hard to support their husbands by acting
feminine, the tremendous changes from the pre war emancipation to domestic
womanhood causes the mental confusion to women. Some people believe the
problem was because of the education or the demands of domesticity. The author
believed it was far more important than these reasons. Without the doubt, the family
was a key factors in the genders roles of 1950s to 1960s that reflected the

Skeletal muscle is necessary for locomotion and the maintenance of posture. Without

Essay about The Demands of Middle School Writing
All middle school students, grades 6 8, are required to develop well written
compositions. According to the Louisiana Depart of Education (2008), to meet the
demands of the comprehensive curriculum, these students are required to write
complex multi paragraph compositions with a clearly focused main idea and
developed with relevant ideas, organization patterns, and structure that communicates
clearly to the reader. The grade level expectation also states that the students are
required to use a variety of sentence structures, voice and word choice to meet the
audience s expectations, and proper grammar and mechanics. Besides being able to
effectively communicate in written form in their curriculum, middle schoolstudents

The ability to write to meet the demands of the curriculum and the state wide
standardized assessment is important for the middle school student, and it is an area
of learning they need to acquire. Writing well is not just an option for young people it
is a necessity. Along with reading comprehension, writing skillis a predictor of
academic success and a basic requirement for participation in civic life and in the
global economy (Graham Perin, 2007).
Special Student with Special Challenges Although writing compositions is required
and is difficult for all students, students with special needs find writing particularly
difficult (Gore, 2004). It is a complex, higher order thinking skill that has special
challenges for special students. These students, like any student, are required to have
a clear understanding of the subject matter and they must develop understanding on
the synthesis level, knowing what kinds of data to collect, collecting those data,
clearly and completely understanding those data, organizing them and getting them
down on paper... (162). For the student with special needs this task can be
overwhelming.

Into The Woods Response Essay
Upon walking into Into The Woods one would say the mood was set well. The red
curtain in front of the proscenium stage, the orchestra tuning their instruments, and a
peculiar man standing on the side of the stage. I was prepared for the show, a water
bottle and plenty of cough drops to get me through the 2 and ВЅ hours. What I was
not prepared to see was the obvious struggles they were having that day with their
own cues.
Having worked in show business since I was young, I know opening night is always
the night when things go horribly wrong. I can have sympathy for them but a few of
the things that were missed were outright ridiculous. When the baker was counting

The actors and actresses did well in their assigned rolls and I wish I could
congratulate them on finishing the run. They worked together very well in all of the
group musical numbers regardless of how hard they can be to coordinate at times. If
I had to rate this performance of the musical it would get a 9/10. The acting, singing,
costumes and costume changes, scenery and of course, the plot, are all wonderful
and this is a must see. The only thing lacking was the cues and lighting, the use of
the gobos was lacking and there was not as much color change as I would have
enjoyed
Comparison Of Le Corbusier And Vitruvius
Although Le Corbusier and Vitruvius had important and crucial statements, I find that
Vitruvius claims made more sense and is clearly more intensified that Le Corbusier s
minor statements. Vitruvius influenced the entire field of architecture and design by
his statements, and not just by words. We can see the results of Vitruvius claims and
drawings in buildings and temples and not just in words. His statements were put to
life by the buildings that he was inspired to assume his claims. On the other hand, we
can notice that Le Corbusiers statements, although important, they did not leave a
huge influence in the field of scale. The Modular has not actually replaced the inch
and foot and the metric system. Till now the problems of unit conversion still exist,
and the claims of abolishing these obstacles were not fully set. For instance, the
circle of Vitruvius is way more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both used the human body as a scale reference for their ideas. In the Vitruvius s
geometry, the human body was used inside a circle and a square, and was also used
as the main reference factor for architecture of temples. The temples were projections
of the human body in architecture. Le Corbusier also used the human body as a
reference for the measuring unit the Modular . The human height determines the
values of the Modular just like it determines and influences the design and
architecture of temples in Vitruvius s case. Both Vitruvius and Le Corbusier analyzed
the human body and established a relation between its parts, which was shown in
both their drawings, Vitruvius circle and Drawing of the proportioning system of Le
Modular . We can clearly notice that the two are extremely similar in the way of
representing the human body taking into consideration its height and its
Observation Of Wild African Elephants
Wild African elephants may break sleep records for mammals. New data show that
they seem to get by just fine on about two hours of shut eye a night. Much of that
snoozing took place while they were standing up. The animals lie down to sleep
only once every three to four nights. Trying to figure out how much wild elephants
sleep just by watching them 24 hours a day is tricky, especially in the dark. Much of
what scientists had known about sleeping elephants came from animals living in
captivity, notes Paul Manger. He is a neuroscientist, or brain researcher, at the
University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. In zoos and
enclosures, elephants have been recorded snoozing from about three hours to nearly
seven during a 24 hour period. Using electronic monitors on... Show more content on

The new data seem to now confirm they were right. Manger and his team shared
their findings March 1 in PLOS ONE. What they learned Manger and his colleagues
implanted activity monitors (similar to Fitbit trackers) in the trunks of two
elephants. Both were matriarchs (female leaders) of their herds in the Chobe
National Park. It lies in northern Botswana, a nation in southern Africa. The trunk on
these animals is 250 pounds of muscle, Manger says. That s why, he says, these
moms would hardly have noticed the small tracker implants. Trunks, like human
hands, are important for exploring the world. Elephants rarely keep them still unless
sleeping. The researchers assumed that a trunk monitor that didn t move for at least
five minutes likely meant its host was asleep. Neck collars helped researchers figure
out whether animals were standing up or lying down. The electronic devices tracked
the animals over about a month. During that time, the elephants averaged just two
hours of sleep a day. What s more, the elephants were able to skip a night s sleep
without needing extra naps the next

Discuss the themes and authorial intent of Larry Watson in writing Montana 1948
In the novel, Montana 1948, written by Larry Watson, a story of a young boy
named David and the events of a cataclysmic summer holidays are recounted. Set in
the heart of North America in the 19th century, when Native Americans were
considered B class citizens and persecution was inevitable ever since the Europeans
first arrived on the continent. David matures in a short span throughout the text
from naivety to maturity as a result of the series of horrendous events he
experiences. The murder and sexual assault of Marie Little Soldier evokes a case in
which Wes, David s father and sheriff of the county must re moralise his choices as

...after what I observed as a child in Bentrock. I could never believe in the rule of
law again David says this as Bentrock to him symbolises injustice. The events that
fell in the summer of 1948 sum up that law to David is a failure and has no power
when in the hands of law handlers themselves. In the end it s up to the power holder,
not the law. This is what Watson is trying to say.
Prevailing throughout the novel is also the theme of abuse of power under the Hayden
name. The Hayden family in this story are a symbolism for the law. Watson uses
them to show the readership how the law and justice are constantly abused and
loop holes are found as ways out to punishments that should be deserved. Such as
when Wes arrests Frank he puts him in the basement instead of jail. They can t
arrest us, we are the law Wes is quoting Julian to Gail. This shows that the Hayden s
do not respect the law as they use it how they please to get things they want. They
are able to do this because of their position in the system and the community, Wes is
the sheriff of Bentrock as this has been passed on from his father. Julian s position
of power as David s first impression implies he wanted, he needed, power . Watson s
authorial intent is that if you are of high social class then you are almost free to do
whatever you like, the law is in your hands because people will believe anything you
say. Unlike someone such as
Old Hag Syndrome
Sleep paralysis goes by many different names, and one famously known name for it
is Old Hag Syndrome. For some people who have had episodes of sleep paralysis,
they might have experienced an inanimate being known as the old hag. The hag has
been said to sit on your chest while you are frozen, crushing your chest and making
it hard to breathe until the episode is over and you are able to move. In
Newfoundland sleep paralysishas been called an attack of Old Hag (Heffron,
Thomas). In a paper by N C. Ness, multiple people had reported of seeing the same
old hag on their chests while being paralyzed, and by the description of each of their
encounters, researches were able to trace back the old hag to the clinical condition,
sleep paralysis.
Similarities Between The Crucible Act And The Great
Gatsby
The three essential components of manipulation are lying, controlling, and using.
These three components are shown in both The Crucible Act by Arthur Miller and
the film The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. In The Crucible Act , Abigail lies
and controls the girls by telling them nothing would happen if they just follow
Abigail s lead. In the film The Great Gatsby , Gatsby lies and makes Nick believe
that Gatsby is a kind man and very wealthy. Manipulation is shown in The Crucible
and The Great Gatsby because the character uses other characters to get what they
desire. In The Crucible Act manipulation is present because Abigail controls and uses
the group of girls and tells them, Let either of you breathe a word,

the T 38A, there has been continuous issues regarding maintenance due to the age of

While other units have upgraded, Whiteman has taken measures to extend the T
38A service life, but continuously been faced with maintenance issues and part
availability for an aging aircraft. The studies that have been accomplished have
validated the overall need for companion trainers, however, there has been limited
studies conducted that focused on the tactical relevance of a companion trainer.
This study builds on the previous requirements defined for a B 2 companion
trainer, and adds tactical requirements in order to recommend a solution that
achieves both objectives. The Nature of the Problem This research is necessary
because T 38s are aging out at all units. The T 38A at Whiteman AFB, MO,
currently reaches its end of service life in 2028. Currently, the B 2s end of service
is 2058, which highlights the urgent requirement for a replacement trainer. B 2
pilots fly limited sorties due to the size of the B 2 fleet and the nature of stealth
aircraft. Stealth aircraft require specific Low Observable (LO) maintenance which
is both time consuming and costly. Due to the limited sorties, B 2 pilots have
utilized a CTP since 1993 to provide additional time necessary for crews to
maintain flight currency and continue to develop airmanship skills . In 2011, an
independent study was performed by Michal Polidor on the validity of a CTP for the
B 2 community. That study did validate the need for a CTP at Whiteman, largely

Legalizing Marijuana In Today s Society

society will abuse it. Then there is the group who wants it legalized because they

The Ugly American William J. Lederer And Eugene Burdick
Diplomacy is the art of dealing with foreign countries and their people in a sensitive
and effective way. The ability to influence people and situations contributes to
effective American diplomacy. In The Ugly American William J. Lederer and Eugene

They identify the characteristics and effects of both inept and skilled diplomacy. The
book highlights knowledge of language, history, and culture as critical components to
the ability to influence indigenous populations. In many ways the situations and
characters described in the book mirror situations and challenges faced by Special

Five Principles Of Resilience
ORGANISATIONAL RESILIENCE: A REVIEW
Prof. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing,
Kanchipuram.
Introduction
The term Organizational Resilience may be new to many of us especially in nursing.
Our workplaces can face resilience which we should be able to manage. Resilience is
an abstract term that is used substantially across a range of disciplines, such as
psychology, sociology, economics, ecology, engineering and network theory, to
name but a few. In its most general human context, resilience can be stated as the
ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change . However, in its
most generally accepted form, the term resilience refers to the way in which any
entity or system achieves an end state of keeping going .

1. Leadership: Resilience begins with enterprise leadership setting the priorities,
allocating the resources and making the commitments to establish organizational
resilience throughout the enterprise. Leadership achieves a balance between risk
taking and risk containment to ensure ongoing innovation, but in the context of
prudent risk minimization.
2. Culture: The second component of organizational resilience is enterprise culture. A
resilient culture is built on principles of organizational empowerment, purpose, trust
and accountability. A resilient culture is built on a strong sense of trust between
employees, management, suppliers and partners. People assume responsibility
without question. People commit to action and do what has to be done regardless of
rank, title or job description. A resilient organization is a passionate organization, and
it is this culture of passion that drives, achieves and rewards personal and team
The Poisonwood Bible by Nathan Price Essay
The Poisonwood Bible is a book about a man named Nathan Price who takes his
wife and four daughters on a mission into the Congo. All of their ups and downs are
documented throughout the story. This novel was written by Barbara Kingsolver in
1998. This story was inspired from her own personal trip that her father took her on,
to the Congo, where they lived without and water, electricity, and many other
necessities. During the time period that this book was being written, a lot of feminist
and post colonial literature was being acknowledged. Feminist literature is both
nonfiction and fiction that supports women by defending political, economic and
social rights for women. Many works of feminist literature depict strong willed
women who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[...] It s hard to say which is worse, seeing it run out and waste the water, or seeing
it hold in and wreck the shoes (56). This goes to show how sexist Nathan can truly
be. All of these examples show the way that women look at men and that the
women are noticing that they are being treated wrong. If it were in the perspective
of Nathan, or any other man, he would see absolutely nothing wrong in the acts
downgrading women. All throughout the book, many of the women are displayed
as very hardworking figures who can get by absolutely fine without a man around,
which was a main goal in feminist literature. In the story, Leah says, Congolese
men didn t treat their own wives and daughters as if they were very sensible or
important. Though as far as I could see the wives and daughters did just about all the
work (229). This is a way that Kingsolver depicts women as the harder working
figures, because all throughout the book, the men do almost nothing and the women
do everything. After Orleanna and the daughters have all left and decided to never
come back, Leah says, With no men around, everyone was surprisingly lighthearted
(390). This is her way of saying that now that they were finally away from Nathan,
they finally felt free and happy. These examples show how little the men did, and
how the women could get along just fine without them in their lives. Another feminist
writing characteristic conveyed throughout the story is the act

from our nation completely. If we focus all of our attention on our own country
before we start with other than would we really have some problems like trillions

country should have the ability to regulate their own labor laws in a fake and then
they need to use a resource like the U.N. This should be a world issue and it should

A Brief Note On The Global Food Crisis
Every 3.6 seconds, the time it takes you to take a bite of food, a person dies of
hunger or malnourishment. Global food crisis is a problem that has been around
since the beginning of time, but it is everything but yesterday s issue. It is very
real today and the numbers of starving people are still growing. Solutions will not
be easy to sort out, since the dramatic food price escalation has numerous causes.
The world s population is expected to increase from 7 billion today to 9 or 10
billion by the end of the century. We also can expect more pressure on the food
supply as people in the developing world adopt middle class lifestyles, which
usually involve eating more meat. To satisfy global demand, we will need to
roughly double today s output, which means getting smarter about how we
produce and manage food. The global food crisis can be prevented by improving
food aid, producing higher yields of food, and growing better quality of crops. The
first way to prevent the global food crisis is to start improving food aid. Most
Americans, if they think at all about food aid, know the basics but probably don t
ever consider the logistics of how aid is collected, transported, and distributed. Nearly
all foreign bound food aid given out by the United States some $2 billion annually
comes from the surpluses of American crops.(USN) Typically, the surplus
commodities are purchased by the U.S. government, loaded onto U.S. carriers, and
shipped to an intermediate destination, often

ENTREPRENEURIAL DIFFICULTIES IN BANGLADESH
ABSTRACT
Bangladesh is a developing nation with a lot of constraints and difficulties for
entrepreneurs. One of the primary difficulties that entrepreneurs face is raising
capital. Finding out what types of difficulties entrepreneurs face in raising capital, and
how the government and private sector can help to eliminate them, is the subject of
this report. This report is an attempt to critically evaluate and review the current
problems of acquiring for entrepreneurs. The government itself has not shown ...

A venture firm could help facilitate that, it could act as an intermediary for both the
entrepreneur and the investors.
Another absence is that of private equity firms in Bangladesh. A private equity firm
an investment manager that makes investments in the private equity of operating
companies through a variety of loosely affiliated investment strategies including
leveraged buyout, venture capital, and growth capital. This firm only invests in
private firms by pooling resources in return for management fees and share in profits.
Then we do not have any angel investors, which may be hoping for too much in this
nation. Angel investors invest in a business in return for controlling ownership or
convertible loan, they usually keep themselves anonymous to the entrepreneur. They
are usually retired entrepreneurs or executives. Their purpose is never completely
monetary, they like to keep themselves occupied in the current business scene, or
guide new entrepreneurs or apply their experience in the new businesses. One may
put it in the Self Actualization part of Maslow s Hierarchy theory.
There are no government loan programs to support these entrepreneurial startups. If
any organization could afford to take on high risk ventures then it is the government.
But sadly the government takes no such initiative.
The Solutions
The first actor that needs to take actions is the government. It needs to make policies
and provide opportunities. One policy it can make is that it
Intrinsic Value Essay
Intrinsic value is traditionally defined as value that something has in itself and in its
own right (Zimmerman, 2014). For such reason, rational moral agents have a moral
obligation to preserve the biosphere because animals and plants have an intrinsic
value. I understand a counter argument of mine is that plants and animals are used
instrumentally by rational moral agents, entirely for pleasure which is unnecessary.
Extrinsic valueis described as something valuable which can be put to use
instrumentally (Zimmerman, 2014). It is said that what has intrinsic valuehas ultimate
moral value (Woods, 2010). There are also four main interpretations which includes
intrinsic value to be of a non instrumental value, morally considerable, flourishing of
its nature, and the value which is independent on the valuation of valuers (Woods,
2010, pg. 2). It is morally correct that the pleasure of humans should not override the
interests and rights of animals and plants, merely must be considered equal (Freya,
2010). It is obvious plants and animals have inherent worth and are members of the
earths community. For this reason, rational moral agents must not discriminate any
entity and must be realised as intrinsically valuable. As rational moral agents and
stewards of the biosphere, it is our obligation to respectfully prolong the survival of
plants and animals as derived from the evolutionary similarity and the meaning and
purpose of humans to protect the fabric of the world (Freya, 2010).

predation, decreased breeding and unknown reasoning. The true remarkable feature
the fox has adapted to, to keep this steady population number, urban environments
has done this by changing its breeding requirements to fit the mortality rates that
occur in urban areas. The urban fox, as written previously in this document, says,
To make up for such a high rate of mortality, the foxes have larger litters (an average
of seven or more cubs compared with an average of less than five in townfoxes), and
all the vixens will breed, whereas each year about 25% of the vixens in urban areas

Only 10.9% of people felt that there should be no methods of control incorporated
into the council or private schemes and that they should be left alone. The other
89.1% thought that there should be a cull on the foxes and this was divided by
different methods of control. Catch and release being the most popular method used.
This conclusion also backs up the decision that education about the fox is more
necessary, as the price of culling and solutions is expensive and causes more stress
than good to the fox. By releasing a fox in a place that they are not used to or don t
know how to survive in then there will be an influx in deaths and who is to say they
won t re inhabit another urban area by travelling to such destination.
The results also show that within the urban environment, the people who did the
survey, back up the point made that a solution should be implemented and is
necessary as a result of the impact these foxes have in urban areas, as only 25% of the
people said they feel the fox should be left alone and no method of control was
necessary.
From this document I have concluded that it is imperative for the work of the
government and the councils to include some way of understanding peoples
responses and desires to how safe they feel living in close proximity with the fox. I
reviewed many pieces of literature, gained quantitative research and qualitative
Electric Cars
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Electric Cars
Introduction to Electric Cars
An electric car is a vehicle which is driven by electric engines. The engines use
electrical energy which is usually stored in batteries. Electric car is a variation of
electric vehicle (EV). EV speaks of any vehicles which are propelled by electric
engines. Electric car is a general term for high speed vehicles which are powered by
electricity. In the United States, low speed vehicles which are powered by electricity
are known as neighbourhood electric vehicles (NEVs), and as electric motorised
quadricycles in Europe.
Electric cars which are powered by different energy sources are also referred to by
different names: if they are powered by sunlight, ... Show more content on

Battery packs are bulky and heavy. They take up a significant amount of the vehicle
space. Given the heavy weight, they battery packs can reduce the distance of how
far the car can travel. Another disadvantage is the silence of electric cars. Yes, it can
be soothing for some people, but it can also be dangerous for others. People usually
listen to the sound of the revving engines when cars are coming up behind or beside
them. When it is silent, they might not notice the cars and they can end up in an
accident.

Crooks Image Of Loneliness
Why can t I talk to you? I never get to talk to nobody. These are the words of
Steinbeck describing loneliness on the ranch in Of Mice and Men. Steinbeck
makes an image of loneliness appear as the words are read from the page. The
loneliness in the novel is not caused by abuse or a broken heart, but by socially
imposed barriers. The barriers were never really made, they are more a ranking of
social power over anything else. The social barriers are formed and the workers on
the ranch feel forced to stay within their social boundaries. They all know that
Crooks does not live in the bunkhouse, but instead, out by the barn. Crooks, is in
his own social boundaries because he has been hurt before and does not want to
relive his past pain he had suffered. When Crook expresses the quote, S pose you
didn t have nobody. S pose you couldn t go into the bunk house and play rummy
cause you was black. How d you like that? , it really gives you a feeling of his
lifestyle. With Crooks, it felt as if you could take a step out of your own life into
his, with the detail of his daily struggle of loneliness, it made the novel feel very
personalized. Another character who is separated from others on the ranch because...

The loneliness in the novel is caused by social barriers that from far away can be
hard to see, but when you get a glimpse into their life, you realize how lonely they

separated from others and just doing what needs to be done. Both Crooks and
Curley s wife feel the same way, separated by social boundaries and all for reasons
that they cannot control. While looking back, it was easy to realize that, their

Judgments of Conduct in Sense and Sensibility Essay
Sense and Sensibility is an elegant story that portrays the advantages of the first over
the second, as manifested between two sisters of opposing temperaments, one of
whom loves wisely and the other passionately. Set in London and its surrounding
countryside, the story relates how Elinor, the eldest of Mrs. Dashwood s daughters,
and Marianne, the second eldest, share in the agony of tragic love. In the opening of
the book, Mrs. Dashwood and her three daughters are forced to move to a new and
smaller abode, as her husband s death left her fairly unwealthy.
During their transition, the Dashwood s stayed with her step son and his wife, Mr.

On the way home to Barton, Elinor, Marianne, and Mrs. Jennings, escorted by
Colonel Brandon, made a short stop at Cleveland. There, Marianne regressed and
became quite ill and at the advice of a doctor, was confined to her bed. Mrs.
Dashwood was immediately summoned at the request of Elinor, who could no
longer stand alone under the pressure of Marianne s pain compounded with her
own. To her astonishment, while Elinor anxiously sat awaiting her mother s arrival,

he had done to Marianne and to ask for as much forgiveness as they were willing to
grant him. This act of courtesy softened the hearts of both Marianne, who had already
forgiven him, and Elinor.
Upon the arrival of Mrs. Dashwood at Cleveland, Marianne quickly grew strong
again and they were soon able to make their way back to Barton. As Elinor sat by
the window one afternoon, she glanced across the lawn and saw the figure of a man
on horseback. He stopped at their gate and she thought him to be Colonel Brandon,
but soon she saw that it was noneother than Edward Ferrars, whom she hadn t seen
since before the announcement of his engagement to Lucy. The whole of the

This tunnel led down to pens 3 and 4, the pens situated directly behind the goal.
Although there was another tunnel leading to pens 1 and 2, this was poorly
signed. When Gate C was opened, the mass influx of people went straight ahead,
into Tunnel 2. Because of this, those already in pens 3 and 4 began to get crushed.
In the space of a few minutes, 2,000 fans had entered the tunnel marked 2. Some
fans climbed over the fences into less packed pens. However, those at the front of
pens 3 and 4 had no way of getting over the high metal fences and became crushed
against them. One barrier in pen 3 collapsed, causing fans to fall on top of one
another. Some fans were dragged to safety by those on the upper tiers, while others
managed to climb into other pens. At 3.06pm, the referee ended the game.
Advertising boards were used as makeshift stretchers to help those who had been
crushed and First Aid was given by other supporters to the injured. Only two
ambulances reached the scene of the crush and out of the 96 that died that day,
only 14 were ever admitted to hospital. The main causes of this human crush was
because of police error in knowledge of crowd control and inability to keep order. The
stadium was also the cause because it was unsafe for large crowds and had been

Examples of this would be not having access to a vehicle or public transportation if

could have an effect on the health care system of the nation would be the Obama

nation, including those with pre existing conditions and those that have difficulty
obtaining the proper medical attention that they need. I believe that with this type
of health care it could save many more lives and lessen the financial worries of
families who have love ones that are in need of a special procedure who may have

passed under the Obama administration and upheld the individual mandate. But
surprisingly no one of the conservatives decried the decision as contributing to the
downfall of society, evidence that President Obama is a socialist, and generally anti

Personal versus Public Poetry
Personal vs. Public Poets write poetry to express their inner thoughts and views. In
Seamus Heaney s poem From the Frontier of Writing, Heaney describes how the
publics react to his poetry. Heaney does this by portraying the process of going
through a military transport. Heaney shows a conflict between his inner thoughts and
the public s reactions to them. This creates tension between the personal and the
public. Throughout this poem, Heaney portrays the process of going through a
military transport.
He makes the reader feel as if they are the ones going through the process by his use
of you, your, and you re throughout the poem. Heaney tries to use this poem to show
the reader his feeling towards the media and critic of his poetry. Heaney uses images
of hostility by the soldiers in stanzas 1 6 to express how he feels when someone
criticizes or reads his poem. Heaney faces readers and critics inspecting his poetry
such as, troops inspect [the car s] make and number (Heaney, line 2 3). Heaney
feels as if the critiques are marksmen, training down out of the sun upon [him] like
a hawk, (Heaney, lines17 18). Heaney fears of judgment as the critiques, eyeing
with intent, inspect his poem (Heaney, line 5). In the last two stanzas, there is a
shift in tone as Heaney feels that the critics and readers are gone. Suddenly, Heaney
feels, arraigned yet freed, as he finally passes through the soldiers or critics (Heaney,
line 19). This shows the relief he feels when
A Brief Note On Pollution And Water Pollution
The Mississippi River is the most polluted river in America, many chemicals such as
phosphate and chlorine can be polluted in the water. Precipitation can cause runoff
water and can sweep trash and chemicals into the rivers or any nearest water source.
This project is concerned about if precipitation has an effect on pollution in the Spoon
river. Anybody of water that is contaminated with pollutants, is called Water Pollution
. There are two types of water pollution, Nonpoint and Point specific pollution.
Nonpoint pollution cannot be found by a specific location and can be caused by
runoff water, an example of this pollution is pesticides (Flinn Scientific, 2009).
Chemicals and fertilizers can run off into the water supply(Mary Beth Abel
Hughes, James Sammons, Scott Eddleman, Pamela J. W. Gore, Daniel P. Murray,
Patsy Eldridge, 2007). Water moves over the ground and picks up chemicals and
other waste into a body of water (Flinn Scientific, 2009). Pollution that can be
pinpointed at a specific place and can be found and reduce the problem of pollution,
an example of this pollution is factories, is known as Point Specific Pollution. (Flinn
Scientific, 2009). Since Earth is becoming industrialized, water is being used and
more waste is thrown into usable water (Flinn Scientific, 2009) About 70% of
factories and industries dump waste into usable water(40factsaboutwaterpollution,
2013). Waste is produced by Industries and is dump it into the nearest water source

The Wife Of Bath s Tale Analysis
Adultery in today s society is more common than it was during a time when there
were knights, kings, queens, and crusades because adultery was looked as a sin due
to the fact that in the mid 1400s there was no law higher than the church. In the
passage The Wife of Bath s Tale, Geoffrey Chaucer characterizes the Wife
of Bath as a
womanwho uses men for her needs and pleasure. For example, the wife explains she
has many husbands but desires to lust and loveother men she acknowledges. In the
second passage La Morte D Arthur, Thomas Malory explains how people use each
other for their own personal gains, such as Queen Guinevere and her second partner
do, as she commit s adultery behind her spouse s back. Therefore, both the wife s are

Queen Guinevere s characteristics differ from The Wife of Bath because
Guinevere becomes controlling of Sir Lancelot. The reason being, their hidden
love simply was too much to hide and as they continued they began to feel
affection for each other. On page 667 paragraph 2, Queen Guinevere states men
cannot love seven night but they must have all their desires: that love may not be
the reason . This quote from the queen shows her characteristics of satisfying her
needs by lustrous behavior. Thus, concluding her love for Sir Lancelot by
satisfying her needs with pleasure and controlling him. A difference that separates
The Wife of Bath from the queen is the wife of bath made up her own rules based
on the church s religion. The reason she made up her own rules was because of the
criticism she was getting due to having multiple husbands in her lifetime. In lines
11 through 14, the wife of bath states ... once did Jesus ever go to a wedding by
that example he was teaching me that only one in life should I be wed . These lines
show that the wife of bath shows her concern of the criticism she is receiving, so
she makes her own rules using religion. Her explanation of twisting the scriptures is
to explain her lustrous behavior and desires for other men. The Wife of Bath and the
queen also share similarities and characteristics within their lustrous behavior and
personal needs. Both women have forbidden love stories that are based on wanting

Causes Of Sea Level
Daniel Linklater
Sea level rise.
Global sea level rise is potentially one of the biggest problems that the human race
will face in the foreseeable future. Significant rise in sea level could be disastrous for
low lying coastal areas in New Zealand and all across the globe as people s homes
and livelihoods would be destroyed. There are two main factors that cause global sea
level rise, they are: Thermal expansion of the ocean and melting of ice on land such
as glaciers and ice sheets in polar regions. Both of these major causes are driven by
climate change (warming in particular)2.
So far, the large majority of sea level rise has been caused by thermal expansion of
the ocean. The Earth is warming up due to the warming effect of greenhouse
gasses in the atmosphere and more than 90% of the increased atmospheric heat is
being absorbed by the ocean surface1. The ocean is getting warmer and as it
warms, its density decreases but its mass stays relatively constant, therefore the
volume increases and the sea level rises. The ocean s density decreases when it
gets warmer because the particles gain more energy so they move faster, pushing
other particles away, there is more space between particles so density is decreased
and volume is increased3. Global sea level is currently rising at a rate of 3.2mm per
year1, mostly due to thermal expansion.
Sea level rise can also be caused by melting of land based ice. Over the last century
there has been an unprecedented increase in global
Wes Anderson s The Grand Budapest Hotel
Wes Anderson s The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), is a narrative that takes the form
of many stories within another. Considered a film masterpiece not only for its use of
thoughtful comedy but also for the way in which the film was enhanced through the
use of camera angles. Love and death, romance and horror, comedyand tragedy duel

Corliss from Time Magazine. The constant use of straight angles gives the filman
unmistakably elegant quality. Cinematographically, this film was created with great
precision, making it feel more like a theater performance rather than a film. The use
of thoughtful and quirky humor truly brings this picture to life, making The Grand
Budapest Hotel truly grand. The use of thoughtful comedy throughout serves several
purposes. The characters are an example of this, through their representations they are
able to create specific correlations that are key to the film overall. It is through their
mannerisms and quirky, thoughtful humor that the characters are brought to life.
This film allocates the use of cameraangles thus allowing it an elegant feature, while
humor is used to create a ...real, funny, sad movie whose performances are as alert

Apple And Android Vs. Android
Apple or Android? This is a question several people ask themselves before
purchasing certain electronics today. Both Apple and Android are especially
dominant in the phone market where they have been competing head to head with
each other for around a decade. Both also have some rather interesting background
history, from the development of their devices to the great masterminds behind the
tech. It is also fascinating to take a look back in time and compare what was then
to what is now and see how much technology has evolved in a relatively short
amount of time. But one has to be superior to the other, right? Apple is better and
more superior when compared to Android because it has a richer and more
interesting history, sells more smartphones than their leading Android competitor,
and their tablets offer better prices and functions than Androids . Both Apple and
Android have a great, and rather interesting, history behind them, but Apple s is
quite the story. Most people don t realize this, but Apple has been around for
decades. The company was created way back in 1976 which is quite a while ago.
But it wasn t until 1997, when Steve Jobs took over as the CEO of the company,
that Apple pronounced itself as one of the world s leading corporations in
electronics. Steve Jobs is a very recognizable name round the world and this is due
because of the great success he had while at Apple. When Jobs took over as the CEO
Apple was on the verge of bankruptcy, but he turned everything

such words going forward (as cited in The Canadian Press). Jerry Howarth resists the

I remember reading some of his articles on Outsider Magazine on plane rides, or
they end up in the emergency room office. He has such an amazing way of
explaining his expeditions in nature. At that point in time it didn t cross my mind that
we were about to embark on the same adventure. I peered out my window and am not
disappointed when I see the Himalayas for the first time. Outstanding mountains with
plains reaching miles in between. Every mountain gets bigger and bigger until I get to
the mother lode, Mt. Everest. Everest is absolutely fascinating, the sheer force of
what the mountain held was breathtaking, nothing of what I ever imagined. The
mountain glimmered, light from sun hit the top and created a burnt orange color that
made the mountains look like they were engulfed by flames. The black tip of the
snow covered mountain protruded high into the sky and I realized that I was flying at
the same altitude of the mountain. As I cleared the customs in Kathmandu I was
greeted by a thick man with a clean shaven face, he looked liked he hadn t aged

Statement Of Purpose For University Of Education
Statement of purpose As a student of Faculty of Education, I am confident that the
knowledge of teacher will be an important factor for children to bring them reaches
the real content of lessons. Because I am studying about education system, I quite
know well about the weaknesses of education system in Thailand that the problems
from teacher are included. Thus, educationfor students of Faculty of Education is
necessary to develop them and their students. Now, I have learned about the
necessary contents about education such as principle of education, curriculum in
Thai education, special education, multicultural of education and so on to be an
appropriate teacher. When I apply to Fusion scholarship, I would like to get

Management Practices And Corporate Culture
ers in any organisation. Organisational/Group and environmental are may be further
classified types. The people within the group must have an active mind in order for
NHS to progress and succeed. Management practices and corporate culture are also
the barriers of learning which include within an organisation. Public policy and
industries results in external barriers beside that concern from external stake
holders. The goal for NHS is to successfully adjust under uncertain conditions, to
increase efficiency and to adapt to changing environment (Dodgson, Mark 1993).
1.4Embedding Organisational Change An organisation must have to act according to
the standards of modern day so do NHS have to. It must introduce initiatives of
change regularly perhaps on multiples levels too like other organisations. On total
quality a proper process of research need to be implemented. This will build cultures
of compliance and health in turn. NHS has always worked on phenomenon of high
quality care for all. Many leading organisations throughout the world are focusing on
system of the organisation and system of the health at the same time in these days.
These are linked with a promise that quality work today may pave way for tomorrows
high quality work. The hallmark of a healthy organisation is that they embed culture
promoting engagement, trust and openness. They achieve it on the basis of learning
and improvement process. In almost all the organisations, there are often contradictory
Measuring The Value Of The Parent Class
6.1 Weighted Methods per Class: WMC relates directly to complexity of a thing,
since methods are properties of object classes and complexity is determined by the
cardinality of its set of properties. The number of methods is, therefore, a measure
of class definition as well as being attributes of a class, since attributes correspond
to properties. 6.2 Depth of Inheritance Tree (DIT): DIT measures the effect of an
ancestor class over the class for which the metrics is being measured. In DIT, the
deeper the class is in hierarchy, the greater the number of methods it is likely to
inherit and greater the potential reuse of inherited methods. 6.3 Number of
children (NOC): NOC relates to the scope of properties. It measures the number of
subclasses inheriting the methods of the parent class. Greater NOC relates to
more reuse and likelihood of improper abstraction of the parent class. This metrics
also relates that greater NOC could be the case of misuse of sub classing. A class
may require more testing if the NOC is high. 6.4 Coupling between object classes:
CBO defines the number of other classes to which it is coupled. CBO reflects that
if one object acts on another, then they can be coupled. Since objects of the same
class have the same properties, two classes are coupled when methods declared in
one class use methods or instance variables defined by the other class. 6.5 Lack of
Cohesion in Methods: Lack of Cohesion (LCOM) measures the dissimilarity of
methods
The Communication of Window Displays
The Communication of Window Display Armani Exchange
Word count: 1240
Windows reveal the soul of the store (Portas, 1999: 41). Every store has its own
concept that characterizes each display, varying from theatre, drama or in the case of
Armani Exchange minimalism. Well dressed windowsare undoubtedly, a dynamic
form of advertising for products reflecting the stores brand image. This essay seeks
to evaluate how A|X Armani Exchange s window displays communicate to spectators
with the use of various resources. Armani Exchange is one of the sub brands under
the parental brand of Giorgio Armani. The use of colour, lighting, props and graphics
can capture interest, indicating the foundation of any decent display whose aim is ...

However silver and gold details on the garments complement the black shades,
making the pieces more youthful. A downside of open windows is that high priced
items showcased can be tampered if somebody wishes to feel the fabric, so they are
trickier to dress. Besides that another negative aspect is that windows are not as
creative since there are fewer props. Hence there is no story to tell. Silhouettes are
simple yet authoritative and influential.
Effective windows can seduce (Portas, 2007: 54) you to purchase something you
did not intend to. Buying even a small item, one satisfies a need, a want to feel
more contented and self confident. Also, what you wear is what defines you,
reflecting your personality as implied by Berger (1972). Windows can sway
someone into investing in a garment that will make them enviable and glamorous at
the same time. The power to spent money is the power to live (Berger, 1972: 143),
implying that each person interprets the world differently the same applies in window
displays.
Armani Exchange has a very clean approach of less is more by not overloading its
windows together with being strong and simple emphasizing the brand s power
(http://ezinearticles.com, 2010). Furthermore, by following the fresh is best
principle in accordance with Berger (1972), they renew their displays every week
thus regular customers find new stock in every visit. Still though, A|X receives
deliveries every 3 4 days so that monotony is avoided. For
Define Community Analysis
Community, what is community? How would you define it? Community can be
defined as a geographic location in a way that a group of individuals live in the
same area like a neighborhood, a city, a district, a town, or a country. In simplest
terms, it is where you live. However, individuals can also feel a sense of community
through the place where they grew up or where they often go and visit. It can also be
a group of individuals who have certain characteristics in common such as religion,
race or ethnicity, culture, beliefs, professional and economic ties, interests, and more.
Individuals refer themselves to particular attributes or affinities (what individuals like
to do). For example, individuals say I belong to an Asian community or I belong to
an art community. As such, community bestows one a sense of identity (who people...

Even though individuals are different and unique from each other, they all come to
one because of that one particular shared interest.
For me, community is bigger than that. I believe that community is diversity, kinship,
unity, identity, cooperation, passion, similarity, strength, motivation, and guidance.
The word community does not only limit itself to a group of individuals who have
shared characteristics, interests, and experiences, but it also goes beyond the idea of
a group of diverse individuals coming together. These are individuals who have
different ethnicities, race, religion, culture, traditions, and so forth. Within a
community is where one develops relationships with other people over time by means
of interacting and communicating regularly, whether it would be in person or online.
Thus, a better understanding of the surroundings and in greater span, the world, is
formed. Community is where it starts. Differences are set aside. It is a place where
everyone works together to make their community a better place or a harmonious
place to dwell. Everyone contributes whatever
The Chicago Seven Trial Essay
One of the many excitements in the news during the late sixties was the Chicago
Seven Trial. People read about this crazy trial and the outlandish events that took
place in the courtroom from the defendants wearing judicial robes to crude names
and accusations directed towards the Judge. Who could we possibly expect to act so
unruly in a place of order and justice? Why, the Chicago Sevenof course. The events
that led up to this trial all began with Democratic Convention of 1968 which took
place in Chicago, Illinois.
The Vietnam War was well on its way by the time the Democratic Convention of
1968 rolled around, and so were the anti war protests. After the Tet Offensive in the

The main point of the meeting was discussing four possible strategies four
Convention Week as follows: mass disruption, uniting behind a peace candidate, a
stay home strategy, or to bring as many protestors as possible to Chicago. The fourth
was the chosen strategy, and Tom Hayden and Rennie Davis urged to make it a non
violence strategy.
Prior to this important meeting, in December of 1967 the YIPPIES began their
plans for the Festival of Life , a week of questionable activities which included
sleeping in Lincoln Park, developed by Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin. It fit in well
with the MOBE s plan. For their master plan to be possible they decided to acquire
a permit to allow demonstrators to sleep in the park during Convention Week. On
August 5, of 1968 they requested a permit, but failed. In addition an eleven o clock
curfew was set for during convention week by the Mayor, but Abbie and Rubin
were not aware of the curfew until August 23 when signs were posted by the local
police force. The more radical Abbott Hoffman decided the curfew would be broken.
Two days after the YIPPIES were informed of the curfew the Festival of Life
officially began. Thousands eventually attended, but only one band arrived and they
feared their sound equipment would be destroyed by the police. Flowers were
passed out, people smoke pot, made out, listened to poetry and were having a
virtually peaceful and harmless time.

Teen Pregnancy And Teenage Pregnancy Essay
When it comes to the topic of TV shows like 16 and Pregnant promote or discourage
teenage pregnancy, most of us will readily agree that it prevents teen pregnancy,
Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of has teen
pregnancy decrease over the years while airing pregnancy shows. Whereas some are
convinced that teen pregnancyhas declined nationale because of the program, others
maintain that teen pregnancy has increased since the reality show started to air. I
disagree with others views that it does promote teen pregnancy because, as recent
research has shown, since teen pregnancy has aired nationwide the percentage of teen
pregnancy has surprisingly gone down due to the view of the show and seeing what
the young mothers have to go through and the responsibilities they have now that
they are mothers.
Studies have shown over the years the franchise has made a dramatically decreased
in teen pregnancy from June 2009 to the end of June 2010, there has been a huge
decreased since then. Throughout time the percentage becomes bigger and bigger
showing that fewer teens are not getting pregnant and being a whole lot safer when
it comes to sex. Due to that achievement the TV show 16 and Pregnant will
continue its involvement on airing their show nationwide to help discourage
pregnancy as well as a decrease in abortions. Victoria Taylor from NY Daily News

ABSTRACT
Background: Mobility impairments seen after Stroke impact walking speed,
endurance and balance. Almost all the individuals with Stroke have fear of fall. The
physical impairments in balance and gait along with individual s perception about his
/her own abilities to maintain balance might have an impact on level of activity and
participation in the community. The association of these variables with recovery of
Stroke has been well studied. However, it is currently unknown which of these
variables are most associated with activity and participation in the community. This
study aimed to identify the correlation of walking capacity and perception of fall with
activity participation.
Methods: 30 Subjects were assessed for walking capacity (6 minute walk test) Self
efficacy for falls (Modified Falls Efficacy scale). Level of Activity Limitation (AL)
Participation Restriction (PR) was graded on validated ICF Measure of Participation
and Activities. (IMPACT S)
Results: Data was analyzed using Pearson s correlation coefficient regression model.
Walking distance and Falls efficacy is significantly correlated (r= 0.751 and 0.683,
respectively) with Participation restriction. Walking distance correlated with Activity
Limitation
Nature versus Nurture
During the ages of early childhood, particularly from birth till elementary school, a
child requires the utmost care and attention possible. Quite literally, a baby is born
in the world as a seed and needs nothing more than unconditional nurturing in order
to grow and develop at a steady pace. In the case of psychiatrist Bruce Perry s The
Coldest Heart , Leon is a teenager who comes from a tight knit, affectionate family
yet unlike his older brother Frank, Leon was never exposed to such care and
attention. Instead, he spent his childhood in a state of neglect and darkness an
apparent yet uncalled for trigger to his juvenile, criminal behavior that shaped him
to become what Dr. Perry considers being a classic sociopath (Perry, 114). In a
small family with an innocent and conservative mother, a hardworking father, and
an older brother to idolize, it would best be assumed that the child would turn out to
be a mellow, genuine person. Yet with Leon the situation was a complete
turnaround. Rather than an outgoing, socially savvy boy he grows up to become an
anti social, problematic teen. Why? An automatic response would be to blame the
parents. Did they do something wrong in raising him? With her first son Leon s
mother Maria had an entire network of support in helping raise Frank. A whole
family of women stepped forward and took over handling the newborn whenever
Maria desired. The striking difference between the childhoods of her two sons is
reflected in the child
Compare And Contrast Organizational Structure Of
Starbucks
Compare and Contrast Organizational structure Starbucks
Introduction
Starbucks company is not just about coffee but an organization wherein human
connections are fostered; community involvement is encouraged and different
cultures are celebrated. Diversity is valued and respected because it is instilled as an
integral part of the culture of the company enabling commitment of all employees
(Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). As depicted in the visual
below, Starbucks is a company that has not been prevented from establishing its
global presence due to cultural differences between home and foreign countries
(Peters, Dehon, Garcia prieto, 2015).
Operations
By having a mission statement which conforms to inspiring and nurturing human
spirit focusing at a time on one person, one cup and one neighborhood, a positive
influence is being created. As a company wide diversity strategy, the four areas
focused upon are: partners (employees), customers, suppliers and communities
(Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). Employees are also referred
to as partners and the organization pursues individuals who are as diverse as the
communities being served. With the goal to provide exceptional customer experience,
Starbucks connects with customers in a culturally relevant way to be able to
recognize and respond to customers unique preference and needs (Starbucks The Best
Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). Through strategic partnerships and economic
development opportunities, Starbucks supports and invest in local neighborhoods
and globally to deepen their ties in the communities. Through a supplier diversity
program, Starbucks works towards building business relationships with minority and
women owned suppliers (Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.).
Due to differences in beliefs and values across countries, there is mixed evidence
from existing cultural research on the effect of national cultural differences and on
international operations (e.g., Hofstede, 1980; House, Hanges, Javidan, Dorfman,
Gupta, 2004). International business studies have conceptualized cultural differences
as a double edge sword (Reus Lamont, 2009) with both process gains and

It is visible in Fig.~ref{ededhe3c} that the missing mass distributions for two
energies have a peak at the $omega$ meson mass 0.7827~GeV/c$^2$, on top of a
continuous background.
The peak positions for two energies are at the correct $omega$ mass, indicating that
the energy reconstruction is done properly.
The background of the missing mass distributions ends at different values because of
the different phase space of the two energies.
The two phase space distributions are useful for systematic studies of the background
subtraction, as discussed in Chapter~ref{ch5}.

The steep rise in both histograms, between 0.60~GeV/c$^2$ and 0.65~GeV/c$^2$, is

The background of the multi pion production is subtracted to extract the $omega$
meson peak, as discussed in the next section.
The $omega$ meson, including all $omega$ decays, is tagged via the missing mass
of the proton, deuteron and $^3$He system, calculated from the $^3$He particles
using Equation~ref{mmeq}.
The missing mass distribution is called inclusive because it represents the missing
mass after
$^3$He selection only which includes all decays of the $omega$ meson.
In order to count the number of $omega$ mesons in the data, the smooth background
from the direct pion production must be subtracted by fitting the spectra.
The Monte Carlo simulated phase spaces of the multi pion production is used to fit
background in the data.
Summary OfThe Monkey s Paw, And The House Of The
Scorpion
The writer, Erik Pevernagie, once said, When ideas evaporate, when shapes fade and
forms lose their integrity, our imagination can create an outlandish setting and
convert everything into a hazy, misty Turner landscape. ( Back garden of a dream ) .
Many writers often use specific words and details to help bring the reader into the
story. By using these words the writer helps develop a setting, and it brings the
reader into, and be able to experience it as if they were there. In the story, The
Monkey s Paw by W.W Jacobs, and the novel, The House of the Scorpion by Nancy
Farmer, the author uses descriptive adjectives to help develop the setting. To start
off, the author uses descriptive adjectives in The Monkey s Paw, to develop setting
in the story. This helps the reader see and feel the setting as if they were really
there. In addition, the quote, Without, the night was cold and wet, but in the small
Laburnum Villa the blinds were drawn and the fire burned brightly, helps to
achieve a better setting. The quote helps to set the stage of the story, while also
bringing a warm, and inviting kind of mood. Saying that the fire burned brightly
brings a comforting feeling to the reader like they are with the character s in the
story. To follow that, another example of descriptive adjectives would be, A cold
wind rushed up the staircase, and a long loud wail of disappointment and misery
from his wife gave him the courage to run down to her side, and then to the gate

INTRODUCTION
There are clearly more questions than answers right now about what has caused Apple
s iPhone 4 woes in particular, the phone s antenna design and the company s struggle
with supply and demand. Apple recently released the fourth generation iPhone with a
design flaw in the antenna that substantially degrades the reception when held in the
palm of your hand. This, in turn, has created the problems the company has had with
meeting the needs of the consumer, as well as with the future launch of the white
version of the iPhone 4. Rumor mill says the white phone s manufacturing delays are
a direct result of Apple s covert attempt to correct the antenna design issue prior to its
release. The iPhone 4 is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Employee satisfaction remains strong at Apple, with designers and engineers being
well compensated. They remain committed to the company not because of their
salaries, but because of the amazing products they are able to create. The work
challenges the mind and the teams are passionate and dedicated to the focus of the
organization. Apple s future success largely hinges on the ingenuity of these
employees to overcome the iPhone adversity and present an alternative antenna
design that has less signal loss when held by the human hand.
ANTENNA DESIGN
During the iPhone 4 development process, testing was theoretically performed in
house to identify any potential technical glitches in design, performance or overall
functionality of the device. Apple has spent millions of dollars in antenna design and
test labs. These advanced facilities are exclusively used to measure the antenna and
wireless performance, featuring seventeen different antenna anechoic chambers that
record antenna strength. Apple engineers logged thousands of hours performing
various signal tests throughout the two year development period. Lab tests lead to
eventual field testing which has been documented to be done under various
conditions simulating realistic conditions. Apple had ample time to discover any
antenna signal loss deficiencies in the iPhone 4 design and speculation has begun to
brew as to how this issue failed to be identified long ago.
Many believe Apple was
The Possibility Of Evil And The Lottery
Looks can be deceiving as shown In Shirley Jackson s fiction short stories, The
Possibility of Evil ,and The Lottery . In these stories there are both similarities and
differences. In both short stories there is an unexpected ending. Although both
endings are very different in many ways. Literary devices that are used in both
stories also show great similarities, and differences. Ironyis a literary device that is
used in both stories. A quote in The Lotteryreads, Thought we were going to have to
get on without you Tessie . This quote shows that Tessie a loud, cheerful lady in
town is late to the drawing for the lottery. Which is ironic because Tessie, who is
late, actually wins the lottery and as her prize she is sadly stoned to death by the
people of the town. In the Possibility of Evil it states When she came into the
grocery, half a dozen people turned away from the shelves and the counters to wave
at her or call out good morning . This specific quote is describing Miss
Strangeworth, and how everyone in town knows her, and loves her presence. The
quote shows irony because while everyone in town thinks she is nice and friendly,
she is actually causing drama by writing letters about people in town. Based off
only of suspicions. These two quotes showing irony are similar because in The
Lottery , Tessie is clueless of what is to happen just like the town is clueless in The
Possibility of Evil . Tessie isn t expecting herself to win the lottery/die just like

  • 2. Life As A Contest With Fate By Heinrich Von Kleist When is the proper moment to think? Is it better to think before, during, or after an action? The writer, Heinrich von Kleist, argues that one should think after an act. He uses the example of a wrestler, The athlete, at that moment when he is holding his opponent in his grip, simply has no recourse but to act spontaneously, on inspiration; and if he begins to calculate which muscles to contract and which limbs to move in order to throw him, he will always draw the short straw and be thrown himself (Kleist, 1810). In this example Kleist is correct that it is more appropriate to reflect on your actions rather, but is this logic acceptable in all occasions? Or when an individual should think be dependent on the situation at hand? In the same essay, Kleist states life itself is a contest with fate , however should the entirety of life be treated as a contest (Kleist, 1810)? To begin with, is it better to think while you act? In the example stated previously, when the wrestler thought during he s match, he resulted as the loser. In the film Fearless, Huo Yuannjia s father faced a similar scenario. During a match to determine the better of two Wushu styles, Hou s father meets defeat when he became lost in thought. In these situations, the individuals would have a higher chance of success if they acted on intuition rather than critical thinking. On the other hand, would acting on inspiration would be best during a test or homework assignment? While working on school assignments
  • 3. Examples Of Femininity In The 1950 s The Feminine Mystique revealed the identity crisis among suburban women in the 1950s to 1960s. In the middle of twentieth century, the society suggested females that the true feminine fulfillment was being good wives and mothers. Through the images of happy American housewife in the television commercials, this gendernorm was reinforced and influenced the whole nation. They (women) learned that truly feminine women do not want careers, higher education, political rights the independence and the opportunities that the old fashioned feminists fought for. (Friedan, 1963) The true feminine, in contrast, was putting the husband and the family first. All a woman needed to do was cleaning the house, preparing foods, taking care of kids, and loving her husband. It seemed like being charming housewives was everything that a woman can ever dreamed of. However, countless women experienced emptiness and incompleteness, or the housewife s syndrome, during the time. The absence of sense of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The crisis of masculinity created the needs of femininity. Through the othering process , men were reminded to be masculine. Being an organizational man, who went to work and provide food and money to the family, became another gender norm for males. On the other side, women dyed their hair blonde, kept the nice shape of bodies, and studied to attract their husbands. All of these was to fulfill the idealized image of womanhood. While women trying hard to support their husbands by acting feminine, the tremendous changes from the pre war emancipation to domestic womanhood causes the mental confusion to women. Some people believe the problem was because of the education or the demands of domesticity. The author believed it was far more important than these reasons. Without the doubt, the family was a key factors in the genders roles of 1950s to 1960s that reflected the contemporary American

These muscle fibers are composed of muscle fascicles, which The basic unit of skeletal muscleis the sarcomere, which is comprised of myofibrillar proteins myosin(thick filament) and actin (thin filament) which consists of Troponin and Tropomyosin, two important proteins necessary for muscle contraction.1 Skeletal muscle contraction occurs as a result of excitation contraction coupling. According to the Louisiana Depart of Education (2008), to meet the demands of the comprehensive curriculum, these students are required to write complex multi paragraph compositions with a clearly focused main idea and developed with relevant ideas, organization patterns, and structure that communicates clearly to the reader. • 6. Into The Woods Response Essay Upon walking into Into The Woods one would say the mood was set well. The red curtain in front of the proscenium stage, the orchestra tuning their instruments, and a peculiar man standing on the side of the stage. I was prepared for the show, a water bottle and plenty of cough drops to get me through the 2 and ВЅ hours. What I was not prepared to see was the obvious struggles they were having that day with their own cues. Having worked in show business since I was young, I know opening night is always the night when things go horribly wrong. I can have sympathy for them but a few of the things that were missed were outright ridiculous. The actors and actresses did well in their assigned rolls and I wish I could congratulate them on finishing the run. They worked together very well in all of the group musical numbers regardless of how hard they can be to coordinate at times. If I had to rate this performance of the musical it would get a 9/10. The acting, singing, costumes and costume changes, scenery and of course, the plot, are all wonderful and this is a must see. The only thing lacking was the cues and lighting, the use of the gobos was lacking and there was not as much color change as I would have enjoyed
  • 7. Comparison Of Le Corbusier And Vitruvius Although Le Corbusier and Vitruvius had important and crucial statements, I find that Vitruvius claims made more sense and is clearly more intensified that Le Corbusier s minor statements. Vitruvius influenced the entire field of architecture and design by his statements, and not just by words. We can see the results of Vitruvius claims and drawings in buildings and temples and not just in words. His statements were put to life by the buildings that he was inspired to assume his claims. On the other hand, we can notice that Le Corbusiers statements, although important, they did not leave a huge influence in the field of scale. Much of that snoozing took place while they were standing up. The animals lie down to sleep only once every three to four nights. Trying to figure out how much wild elephants sleep just by watching them 24 hours a day is tricky, especially in the dark. Much of what scientists had known about sleeping elephants came from animals living in captivity, notes Paul Manger. The trunk on these animals is 250 pounds of muscle, Manger says. That s why, he says, these moms would hardly have noticed the small tracker implants. Trunks, like human hands, are important for exploring the world. Elephants rarely keep them still unless sleeping. The researchers assumed that a trunk monitor that didn t move for at least five minutes likely meant its host was asleep. Neck collars helped researchers figure out whether animals were standing up or lying down. The electronic devices tracked the animals over about a month. During that time, the elephants averaged just two hours of sleep a day. What s more, the elephants were able to skip a night s sleep without needing extra naps the next

This is what Watson is trying to say. Prevailing throughout the novel is also the theme of abuse of power under the Hayden name. The Hayden family in this story are a symbolism for the law. This story was inspired from her own personal trip that her father took her on, to the Congo, where they lived without and water, electricity, and many other necessities. All of these examples show the way that women look at men and that the women are noticing that they are being treated wrong. If it were in the perspective of Nathan, or any other man, he would see absolutely nothing wrong in the acts downgrading women. All throughout the book, many of the women are displayed as very hardworking figures who can get by absolutely fine without a man around, which was a main goal in feminist literature. In the story, Leah says, Congolese men didn t treat their own wives and daughters as if they were very sensible or important. Though as far as I could see the wives and daughters did just about all the work (229). This is a way that Kingsolver depicts women as the harder working figures, because all throughout the book, the men do almost nothing and the women do everything. After Orleanna and the daughters have all left and decided to never come back, Leah says, With no men around, everyone was surprisingly lighthearted (390). This is her way of saying that now that they were finally away from Nathan, they finally felt free and happy. These examples show how little the men did, and how the women could get along just fine without them in their lives. Another feminist writing characteristic conveyed throughout the story is the act

Global food crisis is a problem that has been around since the beginning of time, but it is everything but yesterday s issue. It is very real today and the numbers of starving people are still growing. Solutions will not be easy to sort out, since the dramatic food price escalation has numerous causes. The world s population is expected to increase from 7 billion today to 9 or 10 billion by the end of the century. We also can expect more pressure on the food supply as people in the developing world adopt middle class lifestyles, which usually involve eating more meat. To satisfy global demand, we will need to roughly double today s output, which means getting smarter about how we produce and manage food. The global food crisis can be prevented by improving food aid, producing higher yields of food, and growing better quality of crops. The first way to prevent the global food crisis is to start improving food aid. Most Americans, if they think at all about food aid, know the basics but probably don t ever consider the logistics of how aid is collected, transported, and distributed. • 23. Intrinsic Value Essay Intrinsic value is traditionally defined as value that something has in itself and in its own right (Zimmerman, 2014). For such reason, rational moral agents have a moral obligation to preserve the biosphere because animals and plants have an intrinsic value. I understand a counter argument of mine is that plants and animals are used instrumentally by rational moral agents, entirely for pleasure which is unnecessary. Extrinsic valueis described as something valuable which can be put to use instrumentally (Zimmerman, 2014). It is said that what has intrinsic valuehas ultimate moral value (Woods, 2010). There are also four main interpretations which includes intrinsic value to be of a non instrumental value, morally considerable, flourishing of its nature, and the value which is independent on the valuation of valuers (Woods, 2010, pg. 2). It is morally correct that the pleasure of humans should not override the interests and rights of animals and plants, merely must be considered equal (Freya, 2010). It is obvious plants and animals have inherent worth and are members of the earths community. For this reason, rational moral agents must not discriminate any entity and must be realised as intrinsically valuable. As rational moral agents and stewards of the biosphere, it is our obligation to respectfully prolong the survival of plants and animals as derived from the evolutionary similarity and the meaning and purpose of humans to protect the fabric of the world (Freya, 2010).

This conclusion also backs up the decision that education about the fox is more necessary, as the price of culling and solutions is expensive and causes more stress than good to the fox. By releasing a fox in a place that they are not used to or don t know how to survive in then there will be an influx in deaths and who is to say they won t re inhabit another urban area by travelling to such destination. In the opening of the book, Mrs. Dashwood and her three daughters are forced to move to a new and smaller abode, as her husband s death left her fairly unwealthy. During their transition, the Dashwood s stayed with her step son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. John Dashwood. It is there where Elinor, practical and conventional, met and fell in love ... There, Marianne regressed and became quite ill and at the advice of a doctor, was confined to her bed. Mrs. Dashwood was immediately summoned at the request of Elinor, who could no longer stand alone under the pressure of Marianne s pain compounded with her own. To her astonishment, while Elinor anxiously sat awaiting her mother s arrival, who should come to the door but Willoughby, the scoundrel who had left her sister for someone else. He had come to profess his tremendous guilt in the horrible thing he had done to Marianne and to ask for as much forgiveness as they were willing to grant him. This act of courtesy softened the hearts of both Marianne, who had already forgiven him, and Elinor. Upon the arrival of Mrs. Dashwood at Cleveland, Marianne quickly grew strong again and they were soon able to make their way back to Barton. As Elinor sat by the window one afternoon, she glanced across the lawn and saw the figure of a man on horseback. He stopped at their gate and she thought him to be Colonel Brandon, but soon she saw that it was noneother than Edward Ferrars, whom she hadn t seen since before the announcement of his engagement to Lucy. Although there was another tunnel leading to pens 1 and 2, this was poorly signed. When Gate C was opened, the mass influx of people went straight ahead, into Tunnel 2. Because of this, those already in pens 3 and 4 began to get crushed. In the space of a few minutes, 2,000 fans had entered the tunnel marked 2. Some fans climbed over the fences into less packed pens. However, those at the front of pens 3 and 4 had no way of getting over the high metal fences and became crushed against them. One barrier in pen 3 collapsed, causing fans to fall on top of one another. Some fans were dragged to safety by those on the upper tiers, while others managed to climb into other pens. At 3.06pm, the referee ended the game. Advertising boards were used as makeshift stretchers to help those who had been crushed and First Aid was given by other supporters to the injured. Only two ambulances reached the scene of the crush and out of the 96 that died that day, only 14 were ever admitted to hospital. The main causes of this human crush was because of police error in knowledge of crowd control and inability to keep order. The stadium was also the cause because it was unsafe for large crowds and had been given a false safety

In Seamus Heaney s poem From the Frontier of Writing, Heaney describes how the publics react to his poetry. Heaney does this by portraying the process of going through a military transport. Heaney shows a conflict between his inner thoughts and the public s reactions to them. This creates tension between the personal and the public. Throughout this poem, Heaney portrays the process of going through a military transport. He makes the reader feel as if they are the ones going through the process by his use of you, your, and you re throughout the poem. Heaney tries to use this poem to show the reader his feeling towards the media and critic of his poetry. Heaney uses images of hostility by the soldiers in stanzas 1 6 to express how he feels when someone criticizes or reads his poem. Heaney faces readers and critics inspecting his poetry such as, troops inspect [the car s] make and number (Heaney, line 2 3). Precipitation can cause runoff water and can sweep trash and chemicals into the rivers or any nearest water source. This project is concerned about if precipitation has an effect on pollution in the Spoon river. Anybody of water that is contaminated with pollutants, is called Water Pollution . There are two types of water pollution, Nonpoint and Point specific pollution. Nonpoint pollution cannot be found by a specific location and can be caused by runoff water, an example of this pollution is pesticides (Flinn Scientific, 2009). Chemicals and fertilizers can run off into the water supply(Mary Beth Abel Hughes, James Sammons, Scott Eddleman, Pamela J. W. Gore, Daniel P. Murray, Patsy Eldridge, 2007). Water moves over the ground and picks up chemicals and other waste into a body of water (Flinn Scientific, 2009). Pollution that can be pinpointed at a specific place and can be found and reduce the problem of pollution, an example of this pollution is factories, is known as Point Specific Pollution. Since Earth is becoming industrialized, water is being used and more waste is thrown into usable water (Flinn Scientific, 2009) About 70% of factories and industries dump waste into usable water(40factsaboutwaterpollution, 2013). • 33. The Wife Of Bath s Tale Analysis Adultery in today s society is more common than it was during a time when there were knights, kings, queens, and crusades because adultery was looked as a sin due to the fact that in the mid 1400s there was no law higher than the church. In the passage The Wife of Bath s Tale, Geoffrey Chaucer characterizes the Wife of Bath as a womanwho uses men for her needs and pleasure. For example, the wife explains she has many husbands but desires to lust and loveother men she acknowledges. In the second passage La Morte D Arthur, Thomas Malory explains how people use each other for their own personal gains, such as Queen Guinevere and her second partner do, as she commit s adultery behind her spouse s back. The reason being, their hidden love simply was too much to hide and as they continued they began to feel affection for each other. On page 667 paragraph 2, Queen Guinevere states men cannot love seven night but they must have all their desires: that love may not be the reason . This quote from the queen shows her characteristics of satisfying her needs by lustrous behavior. Thus, concluding her love for Sir Lancelot by satisfying her needs with pleasure and controlling him. A difference that separates The Wife of Bath from the queen is the wife of bath made up her own rules based on the church s religion. The reason she made up her own rules was because of the criticism she was getting due to having multiple husbands in her lifetime. In lines 11 through 14, the wife of bath states ... once did Jesus ever go to a wedding by that example he was teaching me that only one in life should I be wed . These lines show that the wife of bath shows her concern of the criticism she is receiving, so she makes her own rules using religion. Her explanation of twisting the scriptures is to explain her lustrous behavior and desires for other men. The Wife of Bath and the queen also share similarities and characteristics within their lustrous behavior and personal needs. Both women have forbidden love stories that are based on wanting happiness

Significant rise in sea level could be disastrous for low lying coastal areas in New Zealand and all across the globe as people s homes and livelihoods would be destroyed. There are two main factors that cause global sea level rise, they are: Thermal expansion of the ocean and melting of ice on land such as glaciers and ice sheets in polar regions. Both of these major causes are driven by climate change (warming in particular)2. So far, the large majority of sea level rise has been caused by thermal expansion of the ocean. The Earth is warming up due to the warming effect of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere and more than 90% of the increased atmospheric heat is being absorbed by the ocean surface1. The ocean is getting warmer and as it warms, its density decreases but its mass stays relatively constant, therefore the volume increases and the sea level rises. The ocean s density decreases when it gets warmer because the particles gain more energy so they move faster, pushing other particles away, there is more space between particles so density is decreased and volume is increased3. Global sea level is currently rising at a rate of 3.2mm per year1, mostly due to thermal expansion. Sea level rise can also be caused by melting of land based ice. Over the last century there has been an unprecedented increase in global

  • 44. Measuring The Value Of The Parent Class 6.1 Weighted Methods per Class: WMC relates directly to complexity of a thing, since methods are properties of object classes and complexity is determined by the cardinality of its set of properties. The number of methods is, therefore, a measure of class definition as well as being attributes of a class, since attributes correspond to properties. 6.2 Depth of Inheritance Tree (DIT): DIT measures the effect of an ancestor class over the class for which the metrics is being measured. In DIT, the deeper the class is in hierarchy, the greater the number of methods it is likely to inherit and greater the potential reuse of inherited methods. 6.3 Number of children (NOC): NOC relates to the scope of properties. It measures the number of subclasses inheriting the methods of the parent class. Greater NOC relates to more reuse and likelihood of improper abstraction of the parent class. This metrics also relates that greater NOC could be the case of misuse of sub classing. A class may require more testing if the NOC is high. 6.4 Coupling between object classes: CBO defines the number of other classes to which it is coupled. CBO reflects that if one object acts on another, then they can be coupled. Since objects of the same class have the same properties, two classes are coupled when methods declared in one class use methods or instance variables defined by the other class. 6.5 Lack of Cohesion in Methods: Lack of Cohesion (LCOM) measures the dissimilarity of methods

This study aimed to identify the correlation of walking capacity and perception of fall with activity participation. Methods: 30 Subjects were assessed for walking capacity (6 minute walk test) Self efficacy for falls (Modified Falls Efficacy scale). Level of Activity Limitation (AL) Participation Restriction (PR) was graded on validated ICF Measure of Participation and Activities. (IMPACT S) Results: Data was analyzed using Pearson s correlation coefficient regression model. Walking distance and Falls efficacy is significantly correlated (r= 0.751 and 0.683, respectively) with Participation restriction. Walking distance correlated with Activity Limitation
  • 50. Nature versus Nurture During the ages of early childhood, particularly from birth till elementary school, a child requires the utmost care and attention possible. Quite literally, a baby is born in the world as a seed and needs nothing more than unconditional nurturing in order to grow and develop at a steady pace. In the case of psychiatrist Bruce Perry s The Coldest Heart , Leon is a teenager who comes from a tight knit, affectionate family yet unlike his older brother Frank, Leon was never exposed to such care and attention. Instead, he spent his childhood in a state of neglect and darkness an apparent yet uncalled for trigger to his juvenile, criminal behavior that shaped him to become what Dr. Perry considers being a classic sociopath (Perry, 114). In a small family with an innocent and conservative mother, a hardworking father, and an older brother to idolize, it would best be assumed that the child would turn out to be a mellow, genuine person. Yet with Leon the situation was a complete turnaround. Rather than an outgoing, socially savvy boy he grows up to become an anti social, problematic teen. Why? An automatic response would be to blame the parents. Did they do something wrong in raising him? With her first son Leon s mother Maria had an entire network of support in helping raise Frank. A whole family of women stepped forward and took over handling the newborn whenever Maria desired. The striking difference between the childhoods of her two sons is reflected in the child

Compare And Contrast Organizational Structure Of Starbucks Compare and Contrast Organizational structure Starbucks Introduction Starbucks company is not just about coffee but an organization wherein human connections are fostered; community involvement is encouraged and different cultures are celebrated. Diversity is valued and respected because it is instilled as an integral part of the culture of the company enabling commitment of all employees (Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). As depicted in the visual below, Starbucks is a company that has not been prevented from establishing its global presence due to cultural differences between home and foreign countries (Peters, Dehon, Garcia prieto, 2015). Operations By having a mission statement which conforms to inspiring and nurturing human spirit focusing at a time on one person, one cup and one neighborhood, a positive influence is being created. As a company wide diversity strategy, the four areas focused upon are: partners (employees), customers, suppliers and communities (Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). Employees are also referred to as partners and the organization pursues individuals who are as diverse as the communities being served. With the goal to provide exceptional customer experience, Starbucks connects with customers in a culturally relevant way to be able to recognize and respond to customers unique preference and needs (Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). Through strategic partnerships and economic development opportunities, Starbucks supports and invest in local neighborhoods and globally to deepen their ties in the communities. Through a supplier diversity program, Starbucks works towards building business relationships with minority and women owned suppliers (Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). Due to differences in beliefs and values across countries, there is mixed evidence from existing cultural research on the effect of national cultural differences and on international operations (e.g., Hofstede, 1980; House, Hanges, Javidan, Dorfman, Gupta, 2004). International business studies have conceptualized cultural differences as a double edge sword (Reus Lamont, 2009) with both process gains and

Fig Lab Report It is visible in Fig.~ref{ededhe3c} that the missing mass distributions for two energies have a peak at the $omega$ meson mass 0.7827~GeV/c$^2$, on top of a continuous background. The peak positions for two energies are at the correct $omega$ mass, indicating that the energy reconstruction is done properly. The background of the missing mass distributions ends at different values because of the different phase space of the two energies. The two phase space distributions are useful for systematic studies of the background subtraction, as discussed in Chapter~ref{ch5}. % % The steep rise in both histograms, between 0.60~GeV/c$^2$ and 0.65~GeV/c$^2$, is due to the combined effect of the double and triple pion production phase spaces (see Appendix~ref{backphasespace}). % ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... % The background of the multi pion production is subtracted to extract the $omega$ meson peak, as discussed in the next section. The $omega$ meson, including all $omega$ decays, is tagged via the missing mass of the proton, deuteron and $^3$He system, calculated from the $^3$He particles using Equation~ref{mmeq}. The missing mass distribution is called inclusive because it represents the missing mass after $^3$He selection only which includes all decays of the $omega$ meson. In order to count the number of $omega$ mesons in the data, the smooth background from the direct pion production must be subtracted by fitting the spectra. The Monte Carlo simulated phase spaces of the multi pion production is used to fit background in the data.

Summary OfThe Monkey s Paw, And The House Of The Scorpion The writer, Erik Pevernagie, once said, When ideas evaporate, when shapes fade and forms lose their integrity, our imagination can create an outlandish setting and convert everything into a hazy, misty Turner landscape. ( Back garden of a dream ) . Many writers often use specific words and details to help bring the reader into the story. By using these words the writer helps develop a setting, and it brings the reader into, and be able to experience it as if they were there. In the story, The Monkey s Paw by W.W Jacobs, and the novel, The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, the author uses descriptive adjectives to help develop the setting. To start off, the author uses descriptive adjectives in The Monkey s Paw, to develop setting in the story. This helps the reader see and feel the setting as if they were really there. In addition, the quote, Without, the night was cold and wet, but in the small Laburnum Villa the blinds were drawn and the fire burned brightly, helps to achieve a better setting. The quote helps to set the stage of the story, while also bringing a warm, and inviting kind of mood. Saying that the fire burned brightly brings a comforting feeling to the reader like they are with the character s in the story. To follow that, another example of descriptive adjectives would be, A cold wind rushed up the staircase, and a long loud wail of disappointment and misery from his wife gave him the courage to run down to her side, and then to the gate

  • 55. Iphone Process Analysis PROCESS ANALYSIS INTRODUCTION There are clearly more questions than answers right now about what has caused Apple s iPhone 4 woes in particular, the phone s antenna design and the company s struggle with supply and demand. Apple recently released the fourth generation iPhone with a design flaw in the antenna that substantially degrades the reception when held in the palm of your hand. This, in turn, has created the problems the company has had with meeting the needs of the consumer, as well as with the future launch of the white version of the iPhone 4. Rumor mill says the white phone s manufacturing delays are a direct result of Apple s covert attempt to correct the antenna design issue prior to its release. The iPhone 4 is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employee satisfaction remains strong at Apple, with designers and engineers being well compensated. They remain committed to the company not because of their salaries, but because of the amazing products they are able to create. The work challenges the mind and the teams are passionate and dedicated to the focus of the organization. Apple s future success largely hinges on the ingenuity of these employees to overcome the iPhone adversity and present an alternative antenna design that has less signal loss when held by the human hand. ANTENNA DESIGN During the iPhone 4 development process, testing was theoretically performed in house to identify any potential technical glitches in design, performance or overall functionality of the device. Apple has spent millions of dollars in antenna design and test labs. These advanced facilities are exclusively used to measure the antenna and wireless performance, featuring seventeen different antenna anechoic chambers that record antenna strength. Apple engineers logged thousands of hours performing various signal tests throughout the two year development period. Lab tests lead to eventual field testing which has been documented to be done under various conditions simulating realistic conditions. Apple had ample time to discover any antenna signal loss deficiencies in the iPhone 4 design and speculation has begun to brew as to how this issue failed to be identified long ago. Many believe Apple was
  • 56. The Possibility Of Evil And The Lottery Looks can be deceiving as shown In Shirley Jackson s fiction short stories, The Possibility of Evil ,and The Lottery . In these stories there are both similarities and differences. In both short stories there is an unexpected ending. Although both endings are very different in many ways. Literary devices that are used in both stories also show great similarities, and differences. Ironyis a literary device that is used in both stories. A quote in The Lotteryreads, Thought we were going to have to get on without you Tessie . This quote shows that Tessie a loud, cheerful lady in town is late to the drawing for the lottery. Which is ironic because Tessie, who is late, actually wins the lottery and as her prize she is sadly stoned to death by the people of the town. In the Possibility of Evil it states When she came into the grocery, half a dozen people turned away from the shelves and the counters to wave at her or call out good morning . This specific quote is describing Miss Strangeworth, and how everyone in town knows her, and loves her presence. The quote shows irony because while everyone in town thinks she is nice and friendly, she is actually causing drama by writing letters about people in town. Based off only of suspicions. These two quotes showing irony are similar because in The Lottery , Tessie is clueless of what is to happen just like the town is clueless in The Possibility of Evil . Tessie isn t expecting herself to win the lottery/die just like
