Bacon s Rebellion Thesis Statement
Historical topic: Bacons Rebellion I. Introduction
Thesis statement: Bacon s Rebellion is considered the first documented outburst of rebellions against
the Colonial Government which included different races working together, it threatened a corrupt
government, unified races to take part together, and was a fight for a liberty and equality. II.
Background
A. In 1676, Nathaniel Bacon, who was a Henrico farmer, led a series of expeditions against the
Governor of Virginia, Sir william Berkeley. These expeditions were led to defend the frontier from
against Indian attack. Sir William Berkeley however, thought to deal with the Indians in a different

East Timor Assignment
Term 4 Economics Essay Jack Stickley East Timor is a country surrounded by a picturesque and
untouched landscape that has inhabited people for centuries. In today s society however, East Timor
has been economically left behind in comparison to other western world super powers. As the country
attempts to rebuild its national identity following their separation from the Indonesia regime, certain
obstacles threaten to stop their progress to become a developed nation. Least Developed Countries
(LDC s) can be commonly categorized by their lack of infrastructure and residential development, and
visibly through the contrast to well developed countries of the Western world. The United Nations use
the following criteria to identify LDC s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the world gripped by oil shortage The Timor Sea Treaty, which is split 90% to 10% in favour of
Timor, will be useful in the development of the country. Accessing income is currently difficult for
workers and therefore they don t have the capacity to invest or save what they do earn, but income can
be earned and received through providing services and withholding this income from third parties that
may interfere. East Timor is in desperate need of foreign dollars. A dependence on aid in the short
term with an increased reliance on services in the medium to long term rather than the export of
agricultural and manufactured commodities may be an optimum strategy for East Timor.
Entrepreneurial skills need to be developed through a strong education system. Continued external
support is required as the building blocks for East Timor to develop economically. The Government
also has a significant role to play as it is crucial that the country adopts Macroeconomic policies which
also generate productive work and income opportunities to develop sustainable livelihoods. It is
important that the poor are assisted in their efforts to improve their farming and commodity
production. East Timor is currently a country with economic, social and political difficulties and is a
country that is fighting back following a difficult phase in the countries political life. However, if
assistance is gained from other supporting countries, service and non production activities

Professional Gamer Negative Outcomes Of An Elite Gamer
Professional Gamer Negative Outcomes It s preposterous and a dream come true, the profession of an
elite gamer. In this day and age, this recreational activity is considered a career. The professional
sports they had in previous generations are transitioning into eSports, one of the fastest growing
industries in the United States, South Korea, and other places around the world. To put the
skyrocketing of eSport viewership into perspective, the 2013 League of Legends Season 3 World
Championship s thirty two million viewers surpassed both the BCS National Championship and game
seven of the NBA Finals by seven million, and more than doubled the viewership of the World Series.
(Kasten) With this career, however retirement comes quickly and fame dissipates gradually. The career
of a famous professional gamer is very dynamic and never set in stone. Although it is theoretically an
enjoyable career, professional gamers develop huge drawbacks which include persistent stress, video
game related health problems, and early retirement, which leaves the gamer living under inhumane
circumstances. The negative outcomes that result from the famous gamer profession, greatly outweigh
the positives.
In theory, the life of a professional gamer is the ultimate dream. To make thousands of dollars while
virtually kicking your enemies ass in a game of StarCraft, League of Legends, or Counter Strike. It is
very easy to enter the world of eSports, no college education is required, so any gamer

Essay on Reform Between 1825 And 1850
While some citizens of the United States, between 1825 and 1850, believed that reform was foolish
and that the nation should stick to its old conduct, reformists in this time period still sought to make
the United States a more ideally democratic nation. This was an age of nationalism and pride, and
where there was pride in one s country, there was the aspiration to improve one s country even further.
Many new reformist and abolitionist groups began to form, all attempting to change aspects of the
United States that the respective groups thought to be unfair or unjust. Some groups, such as lower
and middle class women and immigrants, sought to improve rights within the county, while other
reformers aspired to change the American education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also brings to attention how they are fighting for the right to vote, when their own form of
government, being the democracy that it is, should permit women the right to vote initially. (Doc F)
However, these women battled on and on to gain their rights, and make this country a truly democratic
nation. Others, such as immigrants, fought to make it possible for success in America. Due to the
naturalization act, an immigrant must remain in the United States for at least 14 years before
becoming a United States citizen and being able to really have any impact on the country at all.
Samuel F.B. Morse, in his Imminent Dangers to the Free Institutions of the United States brings the
subject of the Naturalization Act to the country s attention and attempts to change this act, in fear of a
conspiracy against immigration. (Doc D) No matter what obstacles were thrown into the path of these
groups battling on for reform, they didn t concede. The reformist groups persevered and fought to
expand America s democratic ideals.
While attempting to change certain groups rights was crucial, an almost equally pressing issue of
reform at the time was society. Across the country, increasing the morality and appearance of United
States citizens had suddenly become a much more pressing issue, and various reform assemblies, and
especially the church, struggled to improve society in ways they thought helpful. Due to the mass
urbanization occurring so rapidly,

Shihuangdis Tomb Analysis
A history of China that develops a unified social structure that is to be admired by the greatest of all
civilization will be overviewed to give an introduction into the Qin dynasty. The Qin dynasty was
ruled by Emperor Qin and means china in English. Qin brought a new way of life and it can be shown
through Qin s tomb in what today is considered a great work of art. An analysis of Qin Shihuangdis
tomb reveals a challenging process that made intricate production systems, which could not have been
possible without the unification of China.
Among the most culturally rich civilization s in the south and East Asia China became culturally rich
because of it s environment. The reason why china is among one of the richest cultures in the world is
because of 1/5 of the world s population lives there and china like many ancient civilizations thrived

This dynasty under Emperor Shihuangdi was able to unite China for the first time under a single ruler
by using military campaigns, which was a thought that the great thinkers wandered about under the

brought China s society together as a whole was able to develop a language system of writing,
beauracracy, and an intricate hierarchy based off of competence guided by codes of law, rather than
family inheritance. He created more than 4,000 miles of roads, which enabled a connection to Europe

Analysis Of Francois Truffaut s The 400 Blows ( 1959 )...
The French New Wave, or Nouvelle Vague, is among the most revolutionary film eras in the history of
cinema. Spurred as a result of major shifts in economic, social and technological norms within post
WW11 France, the New Wave conceived a renewed mode of expression across various creative
industries. Francois Truffaut s The 400 Blows (1959) and Jean Luc Godard s Breathless (1960) are
two films, which despite major disparities, would go on to exemplify integral characteristics of the
movement in the following years. Perhaps, the best way to truly appreciate the fervor of New Wave
cinema is to examine the context of its inception. Both the stylistic and thematic qualities of French
New Wave works directly reflect the implicit values, virtues and vices possessed by the emerging
youth culture of the late 1950s, which consequently posed a fundamental challenge to the institutions,
ideas and attitudes of the past.
To fully comprehend why and how this cinematic motion took place, it is valuable here to establish
the wider social climate of France at the time, and the active forces which heavily shaped New Wave
cinema. Between the years of 1945 and 1975, France would undergo thirty glorious years of economic
growth, urbanization, and a considerable baby boom, all of which came to expand and radically alter
the parameters of French culture (Haine 33). Beneath the surface affluence however, France was in a
state of deep self evaluation and consciousness. Following WW11, the

Us and Us Mountain Biking
The United States is a country located in North America bordering the vast Atlantic Ocean and Pacific
Ocean. The neighboring countries are Canada (north) and Mexico (south). The geography of the
United States is varied with mountains in the west (the Rockies), and a broad central plain, and low
mountain in the east (the Appalachians). The government system is a constitution based federal
system. The USA is home to a variety of cultures, race, tradition and extreme sports.
The United States is divided into 50 states, plus the District of Columbia. Mainly known as the lower
48 states or also commonly known as the contiguous states, all of the states excluding Hawaii and
Alaska, which don t attach to the larger part of the country. Hawaii is an island state located in the mid
Pacific Ocean and Alaska is located just northwest of Canadas edge. The 3.7 million square miles that
makes up the United States makes it the third largest country on earth, standing behind Russia and
Canada. While Canada is just a little larger than the United States in land mass, Russia is almost just
as twice as large compared.
Population wise, the United States is the third largest country compared to China and India. Based on
the CIA s 2015 Factbook, China s population was about 1.38 billion, just barely ahead of India s 1.33
billion. Those two countries are really in a league of their own, as the United States

External Stability
External Stability
External stability is the government objective that seeks to achieve current account sustainability, a
continued capacity to service foreign liabilities, and a foreign exchange rate; all of which are
necessary to facilitate and encourage economic transactions between Australia and the rest of the
world.
External stability is the aim of government policy that seeks to promote stability and sustainability in
Australia s external sector so that Australia can service its foreign liabilities in the medium to long run
and avoid currency volatility. There are three main components to external stability: 1. A sustainable
current account deficit (CAD) 2. A serviceable level of foreign liabilities 3. A stable ... Show more

The primary measure of the sustainability of a country s foreign debt is the debt servicing ratio, while
the primary measure of foreign equity sustainability is the equity servicing ratio. These ratios indicate
the proportion of export revenue that must be spent on interest payments for foreign debt (or dividend
payment on foreign equities).
In the long term, extensive growth of Australia s foreign debt can lead to a sustainability problem, as
the costs of servicing current debt can create difficulty when servicing future debts. If foreign debt
rises faster than GDP, interest repayments and other servicing costs on this debt will begin to take a
proportionately larger part of GDP, constraining economic growth and jeopardising living standards. If
prolonged, this may lead to a debt trap scenario.
Australia s Exchange Rate
Because Australia has a floating exchange rate, the currency s value is left to be determined by the
market forces of international demand and supply. There is no specific measure of exchange rate
volatility. Economists instead refer to movements in Australia s bilateral exchange rate or movements
in Australia s TWI to demonstrate exchange rate volatility. Since floating in 1983, Australia s
exchange rate has been remarkably volatile. This has been seen especially in the past six to seven
years, where the Australian dollar has appreciated substantially against the US dollar, from record
lows in August 2001 of US48 cents

Impressionism And Its Impression On Modern Art
Impressionism And its Impression on Modern Art
One of the earliest forms of communication and documentation was art, from cave paintings, to
Egyptian Hieroglyphs, to Renaissance portraits. Throughout the beginning of time, artistic style has
evolved, and is still continuing to evolve. One early impact on Modern Art was Impressionism.
Impressionism was defined as French nineteenth century art movement between 1867 and 1886 that
marks the momentary break from tradition in European painting. In the middle of the nineteenth
century the Academie des Beaux Arts dominated French arts. The Academie was the preserver of
traditional French painting standards of content and style. Historical subjects, religious themes, and
portraits were valued; Landscapes and still lifes were not. The Academie preferred carefully finished
images that look realistic when examined closely. Paintings in the style were made up with precise
brush strokes carefully blended to hide the artist hands in their work. Color was restrained and were
often toned down farther by using a gold varnish. The Academie held an annual art show called the
Salon de Paris. In the early 1860 s four young painters Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Alfred
Sisley, and Frederic Bazille met while studying under the academic artist, Charles Gleyre. They
discovered that they shared an interest in painting landscapes and contemporary life rather than
historical or mythological scenes. During the 1860 s the Salon rejected many

The Dehumanization Of People From Other Religions
The dehumanization of people from other religions is also an example of intolerance. The treatment
that Muslims received throughout the poem, is more intolerant than tolerant, although there are a few
times where the tolerance between the Christians and Muslims can be seen. El Cid, takes from the
Muslims without question. His tactics for taking from them can be seen as inhuman as well as
extremely violent. The Muslims are also categorized with the cattle which demonstrates the level with
which the Christians thought of them as, He captured Moorish men and Moorish women, and all the
cattle being herded out (Pg.33). The intolerance is evident by this quote. To put humans of another
religion on the same level as animals is disrespectful and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This generates the idea that the Christians created a negative depiction of the Muslim people solely
based on their religion and no other reasons. They only listen to the voice of Christianity and all others
are subordinate and need to be defeated. Religious intolerance is not only depicted by El Cid.
Hildegard also insinuates her intolerance towards other religions as well. Hildegard s letter all show
her reliance and praise on God. Through her visions she is able to share his wisdom and knowledge of
the holy church. Her letter to Bernard of Clairvaux provides the beginning of her ideas of intolerance.
Bernard of Clairvaux was a leading supporter behind the Second Crusade. The crusades are directly
correlated to intolerance. Although, writing to him does not necessarily suggest that she is intolerant
towards other religions, the statements that she says in her letter signify her support of the movement.
In later letters, she continues her appeal to the people she is writing too, that Christianity is the
religion that they must follow and she can help them with her visions. She suggests to the people who
seek her help, that God is the answer to all of their problems. They can be saved through the power of
God and she can help them achieve the answers they are looking for since she has a connection with
God.

catalog offers. The main catalog is the Etiquette, which includes a selection of 30 to 40 wines that the
clients can then choose and order by mail, phone, fax or by internet. The members also receive other

stated in the guidelines, we also assume that the mean of the demand is equal to the product of the
mean of the forecasting error and the forecast itself, and the same for the standard deviation of
demand; * To compute the lost function we use the following formula: UNL(z)=f(z) z(1 F(z))
Now that we have exposed our assumptions, we can start going into more detail on the case itself.
First, as this is an inventory management case study, we are going to determine the optimal order
quantity of each type of wine, so that afterwards we can make include a more financial view of the
problem and make some recommendations.
Optimal order quantity:
To compute the optimal order quantity of each wine we firstly needed to compute the unit cost per
bottle and the salvage value of each. From the description of the case we could easily identify that the
unit cost of each bottle was 50% (gross margin) of the price plus the 1,25€ per bottle of the
transportation costs. With this we computed the unitary cost of each type of wine.
Afterwards we needed to compute the salvage value. Here the calculations aren t that simple because

Essay about African American Religious Music
African American religious music is the foundation of all contemporary forms of so called black
music. African American religious music has been a fundamental part of the black experience in this
country. This common staple of the African American experience can be traced back to the cruel
system of slavery. It then evolved into what we refer to today as gospel music. The goal of this paper
is to answer three main questions. What are the origins of African American religious music? How did
this musical expression develop into a secular form of music? What is the future of African American
religious music? These questions will be answered through factual research of African American
traditions, artists, and various other sources. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gospel music was developed and inspired by the blues and jazz that was storming the country. Many
traveling, singing preachers began to accompany themselves with piano and guitar. An example of this
can be found with a gentleman who many refer to as the father of Gospel Music, Thomas A Dorsey.
The son of a minister, Thomas Dorsey was a consummate musician and as a young man, he
accompanied some of the most famous blues singers of all time including Bessie Smith and Ma
Rainey. He also arranged and composed blues tunes. However, his penchant for bouncy tunes and
bawdy lyrics did not keep him from attending the annual meeting of the National Baptist Convention.
It was at these conventions that Dorsey first heard compositions of Charles A Tindley. Tindley inspired
him. Musical historian Arna Bontemps argues that it was at this point in Dorsey s life when he began
to write religious music. He abandoned his brash lyrics but not the jazz rhythms and blues flavor.
Naturally, older conservatives considered this blending of sacred music, such as spirituals and hymns
with secular music, such as blues and jazz, to be devil s music. They shunned it and declared Dorsey s
brand of gospel music unworthy of a hearing within sanctuaries of the day. The traditional church
failed to see the positive influence contemporary

Differentiated Instruction
Differentiated instruction helps to alleviate the complication of instructing multiple learning

Essay On Centralized Law Enforcement
Over the years, the debate on whether the Department of Law Enforcement in U.S. should be
centralized or not continues to be a contentious issue. Both centralized and decentralized forms of
administration have their own advantages as well as disadvantages. The U.S. currently has a
decentralized police administration structure, which has received equal measure of admiration as well
as criticism. As a member of Congress, my staff assistant s proposal to nationalize law enforcement
throughout the United States brings with it meaningful insights which need to be analyzed before
coming up with an informed conclusion. This essay will therefore analyze some of the benefits of such
a proposal, as well as the shortcomings, not forgetting how different groups will perceive it.

activities, abuse of power and indiscipline as the public is not holding them accountable as much as it

Individualism In The Great Gatsby
The 1920s were years marked with wild economic prosperity, cultural flowering and shaking up of
social values in America. The period is nostalgically remembered as the Boom, the Roaring Twenties
and for the sake of this paper; the Jazz Age. The Jazz Age was coined by Scott Fitzgerald, who in this
era reached the pinnacle of his writing career (Shmoop Editorial Team). The 1925 publication of the
Great Gatsby impeccably captured the era s dispositions and styles. America had overcome the
harrowing effects of the First World War and by all means, the nation looked like the next Europe on
the horizon. This tremendous inflow of wealth brought with it a new morality which was less worried
about the conventional values of the previous generations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a sharp contrast from the icy rigidity implied by the title. It s this contrast that Fitzgerald uses
throughout the book to examine the cultural differences between the Southerners and the Northerners.
On a deeper level, not only does the story depict the differences in outlooks and lifestyles between the
two, but it also tackles the varying mindsets of communities and human values across the world.
Fitzgerald uses imagery to illustrate this rift. While describing the Southern town, the author compares
the sun to paint. He says The sunlight dripped over the house like golden paint over an art jar . Apart
from people in the town appearing to be slow and lazy, the whole town seems to be suffering from the
effects of too much heat, ...even the shops seemed only yawning in their doors and blinking their
windows in the sunshine before retiring into a state of utter and finite coma.. Sally s lover Harry
Bellamy is irritated by their shiftlessness and thus regarding them as degenerates . Sally defends her
home town by reiterating that They may be lazy anybody would be in that climate . This sense of non
belonging that Harry feels while in the South is magnified when Sally visits the North. Sally s friends
are worried that she is engaged to a Yankee . She says that, although she loves her friends, it s highly
unlikely that will remain in the sleepy town,

Abstract
The processes of a cart rolling up and returning back along a track were recorded, and the processes
(motion of the cart.) were described as equations. Also, we calculated the accelerations of every stage

Finally, the acceleration was measured and was proved from data.

sinθ was measured according to sinθ=H/L). Next, we marked 30cm on the one side of the track by
using tapes, which was applied to determine the distance in the Motion Lab VideoRECOREDER.
After that, the distance and height of the camera was adjusted to a proper position to make sure record
the motion well. According to the video effect from computer, the best position for observation was
about 40cm height above the desk, and 80cm away from the track. Then we put the cart with the
compressed spring on the lower end of the track. After that, we fixed the track in case that the track
would move or vibrate when the cart started. Then the spring of the cart was released and the time was
recorded simultaneously. After the cart returned back, before it collided the end of the track, we then
stopped it and finished recording. Next, the data

Title: Groundhog Day Film analysis
The film Groundhog Day is about a local weather man Phil, that travels to Punxsutawney,
Pennsylvania for a news coverage of the holiday Groundhog Day. Phil finds himself in a time warp
reliving the events of groundhog over and over. In the beginning Phil spends each day focused on sex
and money as the movie progress Phil finds himself spending every waking moment trying to impress
his producer Rita. When that ends in failure Phil starts to care for the people around town doing
anything possible to make their lives better, from saving lives to changing tires. In the end Rita falls in
love with the true Phil Connor and the time warp ends. Throughout the film Phil comes to terms to
who is he really is. He finds Authenticity and no longer struggles with self identity.
Phil no longer had responsibilities in life he learned early on that no one would remember anything
but him, that no matter what he did he would still wake up on February 2nd at 6:00am. This lead Phil
to do outrages this suck as steal money and drive on railroad trucks not caring about his life and who
he was. Jean Paul Sartre said, Life has no meaning the moment you lose the illusion of being eternal.
Life had no meaning to Phil once he knew he would be stuck living the same day. When Phil didn t
live for himself life becomes dull, boring and lonely, he had to deal with the consequences of this
inauthenticity. Phil came to realization that if he could not change his life today maybe he could
change other s.
In the beginning Phil lived life inauthentically, he lived for society and followed what society thought
had power. Phil did not change in a second even his first few days experiencing Groundhog Day over
and over he still lived for society. Phil went out of his way to flaunt his money and make advances to
sleep with women, two things in society s view men must have to be liked or have power. When Phil
begins to realize this, he becomes lonely and commits suicide everyday knowing he still must relive
Groundhog Day, instead of living a miserable life Phil decides to do good deeds from changing tires to
saving lives. He began to have good faith, he became authentic. He lived for himself not society he

Ever since Harvey Weinstein s extensive history of sexual harassment and sexual abuse finally came

Super Soldiers And Super Soldier Experimentation Essay
Super Soldier Experiments Going through life, at times, one would wonder how vast the greed of
human beings is. Is it as dangerous as we think? Wanting something? Desiring something so much
that you would risk everything you own and love? Is it as sinful as we are taught as kids to believe?
All we have to do is take those desires and create something good out of it. However, when we desire
something that affects the rights of other living things, it is extremely bad and these questions will all
be answered with a solid Yes. . I will be sharing with you the opinion of many others whom are
against such situations; situations such as super soldier experiments.
Super Soldier experimentation is a version of human experiments on military soldiers based on the
idea of making them the perfect killing machines. The government in charge of a certain military base
doesn t want any interference of human emotions, hunger, PTSD, and fatigue. For those in charge,
being rid of those pesky human emotions would benefit them greatly due to the fact that those sorts of
emotions may negatively impact the army s progress in defeating their enemies. These kinds of
experiments as well as other types of human experiments have been going on for as long as the first
World War or, perhaps, even before then. Numerous have been articles put out on very notable figures
in history partaking in these supposedly top secret events. Genetically modified humans have been an
ambitious venture for

Gender Roles Of Disney Films
When you think of Disney, you think about how everyone lives their happy ever after fairytale. Most
Americans grew up with Disney and have a strong connection with the brand. Yet, there is a lot more
to a classic Disney film, then what the average American sees the first time viewing. Gender roles,
also known as gender stereotypes, are things to be considered appropriate to certain men or women
and we are constantly surrounded by them without even realizing it. Cultural gender roles in America
have changed over time, from when Disney animated films were first released. Women were only

America s Poverty Rates In Developing Countries
The expectations for an elegant, extremely comfortable lifestyle have gotten much higher, when the
reality is that 85% of the world s population are living in countries with extremely high poverty rates.
In the dictionary, the word poverty means the state of being extremely poor and when people think of
poverty, they think of struggling african families or malnourished children in continents like Africa.
Contrary to what people think, America is a country where there is a lot of poverty. In 2015, 43.1

Multicultural Society
Multicultural Society.
The retrospective view of human history shows that it has always been a moving and mixing of
peoples caused by different reasons. For centuries the intervention of cultures grew reciprocally. As a
result of this process people now have mixed cultures and many intercultural conflicts. The United
States is a great example of a pluralistic society made up of many different cultures and nationalities.
It is a nation that is composed of people who came here from around the world. In the 20th century,
after new immigration laws were enforced, two opposing trends became obvious: the one state that
America is multicultural; the other claims that America is monoculture.

As well as Reed, Schlesinger describes America as a nation made up of different cultures and
ethnicities. We have always been a multiethnic country , writes the author. He also traces back the
creation and evolution of the American culture, and estimates the present contradictory character of it.
Both authors speak in unison about the uniqueness of American culture. Schlesinger quotes the French
author of the 18th century who said: Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men.
If Reed describes blurring of cultural styles in America as a cultural bouillabaisse , Schlesinger names
it The melting pot . Moreover, Schlesinger admits the healthy consequences of new immigrations
laws. He is against racism and discrimination of minorities and salutes the recognition of
achievements of those groups, which were subordinated during the high noon of Anglo dominance.
Nevertheless, the author is threatened by the fact that dividing the country along different cultures,
idolizing of ethnicities, and welcoming group separatism will lead to very bad consequences. Group
separatism crystallizes the differences, magnifies tensions, and intensifies hostilities. According to
Schlesinger, America has always been a country where many different cultures get along together
without any serious visible problems due to their assimilation to American culture, values, laws,
customs, and beliefs. Schlesinger conveys

The Signs Of Mania And Depression
Just being aware of the signs of mania and depression can significantly help a loved one who suffers
from bipolar. Knowing what to do in these situations is key, and being supportive goes a long way. In
violent situations, the bipolar individual might need to be medicated or sedated. Jamison speaks
frankly about violent outbursts she s had throughout her life and within her relationships. Both my
manias and depressions had violent sides to them. Violence, especially if you re a woman, is not
something spoken about with ease. Being wildly out of control physically assaultive, screaming
insanely at the top of ones lungs, running frenetically with no purpose or limit, or impulsively trying
to leap from cars is frightening to others and unspeakably terrifying to oneself. In blind manic rages I
have done all of these things, at one time or another, and some of them repeatedly; I remain acutely
aware of how difficult it is to control or understand such behaviors, much less explain them to others.
(Jamison 120). A popular show currently on television that depicts a realistic and accurate account of
bipolar disorder is Homeland. The award winning Showtime cable TV series starring Claire Danes as
Carrie Mathison, a CIA agent with bipolar disorder, tells a spellbinding story of espionage and
counterterrorism in the middle and Far East, but also accurately depicts mental illness as it occurs in

Criminal Issues In The Criminal Justice System
Throughout history, there has been only a handful of crimes and criminal issues that reached the span
of not just a city, state or country but the entire world. These criminal issues include crimes like drug
trafficking, human trafficking, and terrorist attacks. Interestingly, the fundamental reasoning behind
these types of crimes varies greatly. For example, some of these crimes are motivated immensely by
money, greed, and power (power over people, government, and politics etc.) However, their motives
stem from things like the offender s political ideology, religion, and at times, traditions. These types of
crimes affect numerous aspects of the criminal justice systems around the world such as the way we

Post Learning Sleep Improves Cognitive Emotional Decision...
Have you ever been told to sleep on it when confronted with a serious decision? The study done by
Seeley, C. J., Beninger, R. J., Smith, C. T. titled Post Learning Sleep Improves Cognitive Emotional
Decision Making: Evidence for a Deck B Sleep Effect in the Iowa Gambling Task sets out to answer if
sleeping helps improve decision making. For this study, they used the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) on
participants. After the IGT, participants had 12 hours of being awake, 12 hours of sleep, or 12 hours of
sleep followed by 12 hours of being awake before taking the IGT again. This experiment is important
because it would show if we make better decisions after sleeping on it. For important decisions, such
as laws, business decisions, and even jury decisions, we want the best results, and sleeping on these
decisions may provide better results. The main questions the researchers tried to answer were when
starting out do people choose the deck with a more constant chance of winning, when learning more
about the game do people change their choices, and does sleeping after the first session improve the
participant s performance in the next session. Their hypothesis, based on their previous experiments,
was that initially more participants would choose from decks B and D, but after they learn more about
the game they will start to choose more cards from decks C and D. They also hypothesized that
sleeping after learning about the game would improve their results for the next

A Powerful Argument Analysis
The introduction section comprises of powerful argument techniques and the use of rhetoric
everywhere. One key point is the technique of commonplace, one of the building blocks of persuasion,
which is information or knowledge that is commonly shared among an audience that creates an
attitude of shared thinking. For example, Heinrichs uses pop culture examples of the Matrix, Britney
Spears and Animal House to better connect with the audience, therefore, making his topic more
interesting and relatable. Another key point is the technique of seduction where you manipulate

The first step is setting your goal in what you what you want to achieve or obtain. True victory is
achieved when you get what you want from the other person not, necessarily, when you outscore your
opponent. The second step is determining your goals for your audience so you can determine different
techniques to change their mind. The persuasion of people can be achieved easier when you change
their mood, their opinion and their desire. The third step is determining the issue so you can meet your
goals. Blame, values and choice make up the three key categories of issues. To produce a productive
argument pinpointing the issue is imperative. The fourth step is selecting a correct tense to prevent
misinterpretations and accusations. The use of past tense determines guilt and deals out punishment
while the present tense distinguishes groups, gives praise and condemnation. The future tense
indicates future goals and how to achieve them. The final step is understanding and fitting into the
audience. In knowing the audience s beliefs and values you gain the mentality and the knowledge of
commonplace. The knowledge of this allows you to use decorum to better connect with the audience
and meet their expectations.

Analysis Of The Novel Mrs. Richard Dalloway
By the end of the novel, it is evident that Woolf uses the Septimus subplot in order to establish
Clarissa and Septimus unified vision of an oppressive society, despite their opposing backgrounds and
mental conditions. Clarissa, on one hand, chose the safe route. She married a well off politician, and
lives a materially satisfying lifestyle. However, she constantly questions her life choices and is
plagued by self doubt. She seems to have lost her sense of self, seeing herself simply as Mrs. Richard
Dalloway (10). Her lifestyle causes her to become concerned with her image in society, and she
becomes burdened by her constant worry about living up to her role as a politician s wife. Septimus,
on the other hand, risks his life to fight in the war, resulting in a bad case of Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder. In addition, the war hardened him in some ways. After his friend Evans death, Septimus
becomes worries with his lack of an emotional response. He feels a certain detachment from his
feelings, yet imagines Evans throughout the day, perhaps trying to evoke some sort of feeling.
Septimus describes his detachment by explaining that it is as if he [has] been dead, and yet [he is still]
alive (69). While he is physically there, his realization of his emptiness causes him to often zone out
and become absent to the world around him. In this way, Septimus experiences a greater degree of
mental instability than Clarissa. He has seen the horrors of war, giving him the undesirable

Plain Capitalism Vs Democratic Capitalism
Capitalism is an omnipresent system that has taken on many unique and defined forms throughout its
existence. While capitalism comes in a variety of disguises, one thing about capitalism has always
remained the same the nature of its selfish being. Capitalism thrives on hard work. Individuals that
work hard will undoubtedly be rewarded. On the contrary, those that are not able to work are left in a
dreadful predicament. Even with two distinct versions of capitalism plain capitalism and democratic
capitalism both involve the necessary component of free enterprise. Capitalism considers free
enterprise something to be achieved individually with rewards intended for just oneself. Adam Smith

To further illustrate this concept, I will share with you my time working in an undisclosed animal park
compared to my time working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a hospital. The animal park was
innovative and practically screamed free enterprise. There were rules, regulations, and an ethical code
of conduct all necessary components for democratic capitalism. However, higher ups were not elected
they were appointment by the owner. Likewise in the hospital setting, supervisors were also appointed
from upper management. Something unique about working in the hospital, however, was that there
were elected members of a resident government needed for democratic capitalism. Following Adam
Smith s theory, the hospital I worked for had many incentives in place. At the hospital, I could
accumulate paid time off and earn additional bonuses for picking up unscheduled shifts. As Smith
would have predicted, I undoubtedly worked harder at the hospital because the only incentive to work
at the animal park was for my check and nothing additional. At the hospital, I felt more involved with
my work. Although one might argue against healthcare and its intentions, I worked hard because I

Importance Of Visit To The Holocaust Museum

was such a somber experience, I don t think I heard a word uttered out of anyone s mouth until we
reached the end of our journey. The grief is tangible in the air and feels as if it will suffocate you if
you breathe deep enough. As we exited the museum, our steps were heavy as we made our way back
to the dorms we were staying in. The next day, we trekked through all the memorials at the National
Mall, never managing to find the Korean War memorial. Seeing that memorial was especially
important to me because I am a Korean American. Nevertheless, we ran out of time and had to hop to
the next museum for our timed passes. Then we arrived at the American History Museum. When we
entered, it was so crowded that it was hard to think. We attempted to trudge our way over to an empty
corner, where an African American History exhibit should have been. We later learned that it was a

Meditations Of Marcus Aurelius Summary
The title of the book I read for the analysis is The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius written by Marcus
Aurelius. The book was originally written in Greek therefore it has been translated into English and

The author of the book, Marcus Aurelius, was a Roman emperor from 161 180 AD. He was born in
present day Cordoba, Spain to noble Roman parents. His father was a Roman politician and his
mother a Roman heiress. In Rome, the succession rules to become emperor are not based on

Applying Alfred Adler s Personality Theory to George W...
When choosing a famous person on which to do my research proposal on I decided on one of my
favorite presidents in my time. George W. Bush seemed to be the most real president we have had in
office since the 90 s. Next, I chose Adler s theory to apply to Bush do to the fact that is the theorist
that most closely applied to Bush s life. Let s start with some back ground about George W. Bush and
then apply Adler s theory. George W Bush was born on July 6, 1946. He was born in New Haven
Connecticut where his father was attending Yale University. George s father had served in World War
II as a Navy pilot ; he was using his GI bill like many other veterans to get back into the flow of
civilian life. (Wade, 1999) After his father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He became governor of Texas in 1994. In 1999 first governor to re elected for a four year term. He
became the 43rd president of the United States on January 20, 2001. (Wade, 1999)
Now on to how Alder applies to George W Bush s life. First let s start with the where bush stands in
his family constellation. He is the first born of six children. (Wade, 1999) According to Adler
prediction the first child is the problem child. First born children are achievement orientated and feel
entitled to rank. Since they were born first they always prefer to be on top. (Frager Fadiman,
2013)According to research done parents are more anxious with their first born and therefore push
them harder then any of their other children. Research also shows that many first born s are type A
personalities. (Frager Fadiman, 2013) He tried hard all his life to stay on top in his parents eyes.
George has always been an achiever. When he was young he attended Camp Longhorn in the Texas
Hill Country. (Wade, 1999) Even at Camp he received the highest honor by receiving the Campfire
Lighter Award. You can only receive it once and you receive it by being an outstanding camper.
(Wade, 1999)Since his was young George has followed in his father s footsteps. He chose the same
prep school his father, Phillips Academy in Massachusetts. Both him and his father attended Yale
University. (Wade, 1999) He later attended Harvard to get his masters

Border Patrol Research Paper
Border Wars
The United States Border Patrol is a police force located all over America. Most people think the only
job Border Patrol has is chasing down immigrants due to the media coverage on the Mexican border.
Although it is a big part of the job it is not the only thing done. The main position for agents is in
Mexico, another main location is Canada. Between the two locations 21,000 agents patrol 6,000 miles.
(Department of Homeland Security, n.d.) The Border Patrol s keeps illegal people, drugs, and weapons
of mass destruction from entering our country. Another major responsibility is to prevent terrorist from
trying to cross the border. In order to prevent this from happening Border Patrol have check points
with man power alert at all times. Equipped with the best equipment from the government they stop
virtually everything crossing. I along with most of the country feel that this is a very important job in
the United States.
To become a Border Patrol Agent, you would need to endure thirteen weeks of training. The Border
Patrol is recognized as one of the most challenging curriculums in federal law enforcement. This
academy requires you to complete firearm instructing, driving course, integrated law, and a physical
fitness test. Any agent not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s hard to be a Border Patrol officer because they have to deal with every day people trying to sneak
things or others in. The worst part of the job which makes everyone on edge is they never know when
someone dangerous is going to attack them. They are just there waiting to be attacked. This is why
agents must be aggressive because at the end of the day if nobody took charge what would happen.
Everyone would take advantage making the officers not respected. This is bad for civilians cause the
less work the officers get done the more dangerous people or objects get into our back

Core Concert Dance
The CORE Concert Dance Company show presented the dance style of contemporary with the
addition to aerial choreography. The dancers presented many movements through the use of their
bodies that stemmed from choreography in ballet and modern dance moves. With contemporary being
my all time favorite style, the dancers provided a sense of freedom, expression, and unpredictability in
the ways they articulated the movement of the body itself and the objects that were used. In many of
the different pieces that were shown, I noticed that many of the dancers movements in the
choreography involved the torso. The use the torso enabled me to capture the movement of relaxation
that gave off a sense of fluidity and ease through the transition of the next ... Show more content on

The movement related to the four core principles: personal style, improvisation, dynamic play, and a
deep connection to the music in order to convey an expression and a sense of rhythmic movement.
During the performance there were a lot of joyousness and call and response in the choreography. The
areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while
doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of the kinetic elements
such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot gave an insight on how much
training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body isolations when they had to do
splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air. Without the isolations in the body
movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be very difficult to manage since it
requires control and articulation of certain body parts. Contemporary dance can be thought of as jazz
derived or jazz influenced, but jazz will always remain strict on what the movement is supposed to be
and how it supposed to be articulated. One of the main differences between contemporary and jazz is
that in jazz gravity is felt a different way. In contemporary there is an urge to give into gravity such

What Is My Personal Nursing Philosophy
Philosophy of Nursing
As a professional nurse, my personal philosophy of nursing is based on the core belief that all
individuals possess unique characteristics and needs. Each person is the product of their own personal
growth through learning and experience, resulting in individual and unique cultural, spiritual and
developmental dimensions.
Nursing is a dynamic, helping, healing and caring process. It employs the unique application of
knowledge and skills to improve the quality of life. Nursing is unique in its ability to provide a
comprehensive and compassionate view of the health needs of every patient. The professional nurse
promotes collaboration with the entire health care team and utilizes all available resources for the
benefit of the client. I believe that the following values should guide the practice of nursing and
provide the basis for the formulation of a philosophy of nursing;
When making decisions about an individual nurse s scope of practice, the first and foremost
considerations are the best interests of the patient, and the importance of promoting and maintaining
the highest quality of health services.
Nursing care should be delivered in a way that respects the uniqueness and dignity of each patient
regardless of culture, ethnicity or religion.
The therapeutic relationship between nurse and patient is fundamental to nursing practice, and is based
on trust, understanding, compassion, and support. It

Fedor Argumentative Essay
Fedor Emelianenko said this to a reporter before a fight, Years ago we hardly had anything to eat. Now
I have more money and I see every opponent as a man that is trying to put me back into that poorer
period. That man has to be eliminated. He was undefeated for twenty seven fights in a row while
fighting under the Pride Fighting Championship banner. Fedor gave his full potential in everything he
did. So how far can you take your full potential like him? His career professionally started on May 21,
2000. He won his first four fights, one of them being one of the toughest fights in his career against
the ADCC heavyweight champ, Ricardo Arona. His first loss to Tsuyoshi Kohsaka on December
22,2000 who he later defeated in the first

Although it is theoretically an enjoyable career, professional gamers develop huge drawbacks which include persistent stress, video game related health problems, and early retirement, which leaves the gamer living under inhumane circumstances. The negative outcomes that result from the famous gamer profession, greatly outweigh the positives. In theory, the life of a professional gamer is the ultimate dream. Essay on Reform Between 1825 And 1850 While some citizens of the United States, between 1825 and 1850, believed that reform was foolish and that the nation should stick to its old conduct, reformists in this time period still sought to make the United States a more ideally democratic nation. This was an age of nationalism and pride, and where there was pride in one s country, there was the aspiration to improve one s country even further. Many new reformist and abolitionist groups began to form, all attempting to change aspects of the United States that the respective groups thought to be unfair or unjust. Due to the naturalization act, an immigrant must remain in the United States for at least 14 years before becoming a United States citizen and being able to really have any impact on the country at all. Samuel F.B. • 7. Analysis Of Francois Truffaut s The 400 Blows ( 1959 )... The French New Wave, or Nouvelle Vague, is among the most revolutionary film eras in the history of cinema. Spurred as a result of major shifts in economic, social and technological norms within post WW11 France, the New Wave conceived a renewed mode of expression across various creative industries. Francois Truffaut s The 400 Blows (1959) and Jean Luc Godard s Breathless (1960) are two films, which despite major disparities, would go on to exemplify integral characteristics of the movement in the following years. Perhaps, the best way to truly appreciate the fervor of New Wave cinema is to examine the context of its inception. Both the stylistic and thematic qualities of French New Wave works directly reflect the implicit values, virtues and vices possessed by the emerging youth culture of the late 1950s, which consequently posed a fundamental challenge to the institutions, ideas and attitudes of the past. To fully comprehend why and how this cinematic motion took place, it is valuable here to establish the wider social climate of France at the time, and the active forces which heavily shaped New Wave cinema. Between the years of 1945 and 1975, France would undergo thirty glorious years of economic growth, urbanization, and a considerable baby boom, all of which came to expand and radically alter the parameters of French culture (Haine 33). The primary measure of the sustainability of a country s foreign debt is the debt servicing ratio, while the primary measure of foreign equity sustainability is the equity servicing ratio. These ratios indicate the proportion of export revenue that must be spent on interest payments for foreign debt (or dividend payment on foreign equities). In the long term, extensive growth of Australia s foreign debt can lead to a sustainability problem, as the costs of servicing current debt can create difficulty when servicing future debts. If foreign debt rises faster than GDP, interest repayments and other servicing costs on this debt will begin to take a proportionately larger part of GDP, constraining economic growth and jeopardising living standards. If prolonged, this may lead to a debt trap scenario. Australia s Exchange Rate Because Australia has a floating exchange rate, the currency s value is left to be determined by the market forces of international demand and supply. There is no specific measure of exchange rate volatility. Economists instead refer to movements in Australia s bilateral exchange rate or movements in Australia s TWI to demonstrate exchange rate volatility. • 11. Impressionism And Its Impression On Modern Art Impressionism And its Impression on Modern Art One of the earliest forms of communication and documentation was art, from cave paintings, to Egyptian Hieroglyphs, to Renaissance portraits. Throughout the beginning of time, artistic style has evolved, and is still continuing to evolve. One early impact on Modern Art was Impressionism. Impressionism was defined as French nineteenth century art movement between 1867 and 1886 that marks the momentary break from tradition in European painting. In the middle of the nineteenth century the Academie des Beaux Arts dominated French arts. The Academie was the preserver of traditional French painting standards of content and style. Historical subjects, religious themes, and portraits were valued; Landscapes and still lifes were not. The Academie preferred carefully finished images that look realistic when examined closely. Paintings in the style were made up with precise brush strokes carefully blended to hide the artist hands in their work. Color was restrained and were often toned down farther by using a gold varnish. The Academie held an annual art show called the Salon de Paris. In the early 1860 s four young painters Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, and Frederic Bazille met while studying under the academic artist, Charles Gleyre. They discovered that they shared an interest in painting landscapes and contemporary life rather than historical or mythological scenes. During the 1860 s the Salon rejected many ... Bernard of Clairvaux was a leading supporter behind the Second Crusade. The crusades are directly correlated to intolerance. Although, writing to him does not necessarily suggest that she is intolerant towards other religions, the statements that she says in her letter signify her support of the movement. In later letters, she continues her appeal to the people she is writing too, that Christianity is the religion that they must follow and she can help them with her visions. Many traveling, singing preachers began to accompany themselves with piano and guitar. An example of this can be found with a gentleman who many refer to as the father of Gospel Music, Thomas A Dorsey. The son of a minister, Thomas Dorsey was a consummate musician and as a young man, he accompanied some of the most famous blues singers of all time including Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey. He also arranged and composed blues tunes. However, his penchant for bouncy tunes and bawdy lyrics did not keep him from attending the annual meeting of the National Baptist Convention. It was at these conventions that Dorsey first heard compositions of Charles A Tindley. Tindley inspired him. Musical historian Arna Bontemps argues that it was at this point in Dorsey s life when he began to write religious music. He abandoned his brash lyrics but not the jazz rhythms and blues flavor. Naturally, older conservatives considered this blending of sacred music, such as spirituals and hymns with secular music, such as blues and jazz, to be devil s music. Then the two wood blocks were put on the desk, and one end of the track was set on the blocks to make the incline. Meanwhile, the angle between the track and the desk, θ, was calculated (technically, sinθ was measured according to sinθ=H/L). Next, we marked 30cm on the one side of the track by using tapes, which was applied to determine the distance in the Motion Lab VideoRECOREDER. After that, the distance and height of the camera was adjusted to a proper position to make sure record the motion well. Is it as dangerous as we think? Wanting something? Desiring something so much that you would risk everything you own and love? Is it as sinful as we are taught as kids to believe? All we have to do is take those desires and create something good out of it. However, when we desire something that affects the rights of other living things, it is extremely bad and these questions will all be answered with a solid Yes. . I will be sharing with you the opinion of many others whom are against such situations; situations such as super soldier experiments. Super Soldier experimentation is a version of human experiments on military soldiers based on the idea of making them the perfect killing machines. The government in charge of a certain military base doesn t want any interference of human emotions, hunger, PTSD, and fatigue. For those in charge, being rid of those pesky human emotions would benefit them greatly due to the fact that those sorts of emotions may negatively impact the army s progress in defeating their enemies. These kinds of experiments as well as other types of human experiments have been going on for as long as the first World War or, perhaps, even before then. Jamison speaks frankly about violent outbursts she s had throughout her life and within her relationships. Both my manias and depressions had violent sides to them. Violence, especially if you re a woman, is not something spoken about with ease. J., Smith, C. T. titled Post Learning Sleep Improves Cognitive Emotional Decision Making: Evidence for a Deck B Sleep Effect in the Iowa Gambling Task sets out to answer if sleeping helps improve decision making. For this study, they used the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) on participants. After the IGT, participants had 12 hours of being awake, 12 hours of sleep, or 12 hours of sleep followed by 12 hours of being awake before taking the IGT again. This experiment is important because it would show if we make better decisions after sleeping on it. For important decisions, such as laws, business decisions, and even jury decisions, we want the best results, and sleeping on these decisions may provide better results. The main questions the researchers tried to answer were when starting out do people choose the deck with a more constant chance of winning, when learning more about the game do people change their choices, and does sleeping after the first session improve the participant s performance in the next session. Their hypothesis, based on their previous experiments, was that initially more participants would choose from decks B and D, but after they learn more about the game they will start to choose more cards from decks C and D. The persuasion of people can be achieved easier when you change their mood, their opinion and their desire. The third step is determining the issue so you can meet your goals. Analysis Of The Novel Mrs. Richard Dalloway By the end of the novel, it is evident that Woolf uses the Septimus subplot in order to establish Clarissa and Septimus unified vision of an oppressive society, despite their opposing backgrounds and mental conditions. However, she constantly questions her life choices and is plagued by self doubt. She seems to have lost her sense of self, seeing herself simply as Mrs. Richard Dalloway (10). Her lifestyle causes her to become concerned with her image in society, and she becomes burdened by her constant worry about living up to her role as a politician s wife. First let s start with the where bush stands in his family constellation. He is the first born of six children. (Wade, 1999) According to Adler prediction the first child is the problem child. First born children are achievement orientated and feel entitled to rank. Since they were born first they always prefer to be on top. Research also shows that many first born s are type A personalities. (Frager Fadiman, 2013) He tried hard all his life to stay on top in his parents eyes. George has always been an achiever. With contemporary being my all time favorite style, the dancers provided a sense of freedom, expression, and unpredictability in the ways they articulated the movement of the body itself and the objects that were used. The movement related to the four core principles: personal style, improvisation, dynamic play, and a deep connection to the music in order to convey an expression and a sense of rhythmic movement. The areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of the kinetic elements such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot gave an insight on how much training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body isolations when they had to do splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air. Without the isolations in the body movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be very difficult to manage since it requires control and articulation of certain body parts. Contemporary dance can be thought of as jazz derived or jazz influenced, but jazz will always remain strict on what the movement is supposed to be and how it supposed to be articulated. One of the main differences between contemporary and jazz is that in jazz gravity is felt a different way. In contemporary there is an urge to give into gravity such ...
