Characteristics Of Jay In The Great Gatsby
My life has got to be like this, it s got to keep going up (Fitzgerald). It is this kind of attitude towards
life that makes James Gatz great. He is a very motivated man who is always looking for ways to
improve. From the time he was a boy in North Dakota, it was clear that James was going to be
successful. When he ran away from home, it was the beginning of the ascent of his life. Gatsby is
great because of his determination, independence, and imagination.
When Gatsby meets Daisy, he is in love at first sight. Jay is in military training at Camp Taylor in
Louisville, Kentucky when they first meet. Daisy comes from a very wealthy family, and had no idea
that Gatsby is, in fact, very poor. This relationship would be acceptable for Daisy s family, and Gatsby
knows that. This motivates him to live the kind of lifestyle that the reader sees when he first meets
Gatsby. Jay is determined to have everything absolutely perfect, all for Daisy. He wants her to see that
she can have both wealth and love if she is with him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He runs away from home as a young teen to begin living out his vision. Jay never really accepts his
parents as his parents, as they have no way to support the lifestyle he aspires to live. Gatsby s
imagination carries him to where he wants to be. Furthermore, when Gatsby s mentor Dan Kody
passes away, Jay gets his inheritance stolen right out of his hands. When he is left with no money,
Gatsby needs to figure out what to do. At this period in time, having no money can be devastating for
a person. Jay Gatsby, the independent man he is, is unaffected. He decides to enlist in the United
States Army, when he then finds himself at Camp Taylor, and eventually finds Daisy

Ap English Short Stories
It was early in the morning: Ruby left the tent, bleary eyed, and made his way through the field.
Unbound by the decaying fence, the cows had strayed to the far end of the clearing. Ruby hopped the
fence and began towards them; knowing the ritual, they stayed put. Now that he had breakfast, and
lunch if the milk lasted, Ruby began on the path that lead through the woods. He could hear the larks
calling; boasting, he imagined, to each other that they, too, were awake. Besides them it was quite.
Coming out into the sunlight once again, Ruby paused and took a look around. Exactly as he had left
it. He started his daily chore, picking through the rouble, looking for bits of metal, jewelry, and tools.
Despite this having been a mining settlement, Ruby could find very little ... Show more content on

A ship might, at any day, appear over the horizon, and seek shelter. The island, to those unaware of it s
history, looks quaint and comfortable. It was in a way, a nice place to visit. Long left by civilisation,
nature has reclaimed all but the houses, now standing in a sea of grass. Birds flock to the island,
knowing they will be undisturbed. Despite it s small size, it now has a population of deer, who must
have washed ashore and made the hard journey from mainland. If it is a short stop, I doubt one would
be more than bothered by the bodies. But it made sleeping overnight impossible. Even from the
boathouse and the docks, one can see a path of wreckage: lighthouse, once proud, is decrepit, and risks
its integrity with a gaping hole in it s side. The main building, moldy and listing, has a corresponding
hole in it s roof. At the bottom of this path lies a skeleton, axe in hand, looking up at the stars. Ruby
didn t care whether the island was quaint, however. Nor if it was haunted. He wanted to leave because
he was bored. He wanted to leave because he was tired of the same day in and day out. Most of all, he

Prisoners Of War Play Analysis
A young couple overcome hardship when the husband goes missing in war and a lighter and a ring
keep the families connected, giving them hope.
BRIEF SYNOPSIS
EDWARD Ed HEWITT feels an emotional connection to his Uncle Earl s silver lighter. It s a lighter
that the family treasures and reminds them of Earl, who died.
When Ed s father, LLOYD, comes upon a car accident, he helps save two women, EMILY NOVAL
(20 s) and her mother, MARY. Lloyd is surprised when he sees Mary. He recognizes the ring on her
finger. It was the ring that Earl was going to give her. After Earl s death, Lloyd gave Mary the ring.
She has never taken it off.
When Mary dies, her daughter sends back the ring to Earl who gives it to Ed for him to eventually
hand it down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe Dorothy develops feelings for another man. Maybe when Ed left she was pregnant.
In addition, when Ed returns home, the audience feels cheated out of seeing the moment that Ed and
Dorothy are finally reunited. This is what the audience has been anticipating, but then suddenly on
page 89 they are together. Once they reunite, the story needs to end pretty quickly.
The story currently goes on for another 22 or so pages without any real goal or focus. It focuses too
much on Ed and Hel. The audience doesn t see Dorothy get sick or die.
There s no doubt that the characters are likable and potentially intriguing. It s easy to root for Ed and
for Dorothy. Unfortunately because there are too many characters and shifting timelines, the main
characters, like Ed and Dorothy, don t get as much focus as they should. Once the non essential
scenes, subplots, and characters are streamlined, these characters will stand out more.
Overall, the dialogue is consistent with the personalities of each of the characters and reveals
information about them. However, avoid sounding overly melodramatic, like when Lloyd sees the ring
and says Oh my God!

The United States Of American ( U.s )
The United States of American (U.S) is a well developed country located in North America. The U.S
is a country that puts in about 17.1% of its GDP into the health care sector, but still seem to be getting
a poor outcome compared to its counterparts(Squires Anderson, 2015). Although their health care
spending seemed to have slowed over the years, they still spend a lot more than most high income
well developed nations around the world (Squires Anderson, 2015). In the U.S, patient s visits to
physician and admission to hospitals have been low, but they present a high level of technology use
such as MRI machines, etc(Squires Anderson, 2015). Furthermore, there tend to be low levels of

Learned Helplessness And Mental Disorders
Learned helplessness is something that a lot of people go through without knowing all of the factors
that may trigger it. Learned helplessness is when someone suffers from powerlessness about repeated
failing attempts to succeed. This paper will focus on some of things that are related to learned
helplessness and a way to help reduce it, such as mental disorders, health problems, gender, job status,
and race. One way to reduce it among women is counseling with another female. Learned helplessness
can cause and/or is related to mental disorders such as depression and PTSD, health problems such as
asthma weight and it is also related to job status. There are studies that show that women can reduce
learned helplessness if they are counseled by another female rather than a male.
One factor that may cause learned helplessness is depression. In a study by Klein, Morse, and
Seligman (1976), researchers did a study on both men and women. They wanted to know how well
depressed and non depressed people were able to answer solvable or three different types of non
solvable questions. This study consisted of 81 University of Pennsylvania undergraduates. The
participants were assigned to either the depressed or non depressed group based off how well they did
on the Beck Depression Inventory. After they completed the BDI test the participants were placed into
one of the question type groups. The participants were assigned to either a solvable or non solvable
group where they answered

Persuasive Essay On Gifted Education
Ward, 2005); President Obama s defunding of the Javits Act, as part of the federal budget in 2012
(Equity) (Stephens, 2011), and the passing of the TALENT Act under the Every Student Succeeds Act
(ESSA) in 2015 (NAGC, n.d.). In short, the federal government s support for gifted education has
been inconsistent at best, and when compared to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
(IDEA), which guarantees all children between the ages of three and twenty one with specifically
identified disabilities a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment in
conformance with an Individualized Education Program (Ward, 2005, p. 58) funding and support by
federal government is severely lacking (Brown, 2008; Ward, 2005). Nevertheless, the TALENT Act
(2015) is encouraging for gifted education as it promotes professional development to support high
ability students, seeks to recognize and respond to excellence gaps, makes student achievement data
publicly available, and advocates for research and the distribution of research that supports best
practices in gifted education (NAGC, n.d.). Likewise, the Javits Act continues to give hope to those
who have been historically underrepresented in gifted education through the first of its two priorities,
which is to support Initiatives [that] develop and scale up models serving students who are
underrepresented in gifted and talented programs (USDOE, 2017).
Nomination and Confirmatory Practices
In Comparing Apples and Oranges: Fifteen years of definitions of giftedness in research, Carman
(2013) identified nine gifted identification methods she found through reviewing 103 articles. These
methods were intelligence tests (IQ), achievement tests, academic achievement (Grades), teacher,
parent, counselor, and committee recommendation, extracurricular activities, and additional sources of
evidence (i.e. Performance Based Assessments). Carman (2013) also wrote, in her article, that there
appears to be some confusion between giftedness and intelligence since definitions of giftedness often
align more with the latter than the former. The fact that there are blurred lines between these terms
might explain why there has been an overreliance on IQ

Criminal Behavior And Social Control
Our society is at the will of two fundamental forces: deviant behavior and social control. Behaviors
that are not deemed as socially acceptable, or that do not fall in line with what society calls normal ,
are deviant. Social control aims to influence people s behaviors and is a means of moderating, as well
as preventing deviance. The two forms of social control are informal and formal social control. The
former consists of self control and relational controls (Owen, Fradella, Burke, Joplin, 2012, p. 103)
while the latter uses governmental resources to deter deviance in its citizens. In my opinion, informal
social control is a better deterrent of criminal behavior since your own will and how you are raised can
be the greatest forces driving a person to live a good life or choose to start one. Informal social control
comes down to two forms of interactions the ones that you form with yourself that develop your
conscience and those that you experience with others. The first, internal, can not necessarily exist
without the second, external, because we learn and gauge what is right or wrong from the
environments and people around us. Our parents encouraging us to go to school, stay away from
drugs, and raising us to be responsible members of society is an example of external social control. In
contrast to informal social control, formal social control employs alternative methods of behavioral
control. According to Owen, Fradella, Burke, Joplin (2012), Donald Black, a

write about freedom, self seeking adventures and self instincts. Meanwhile, female authors write about

These books are in common by the woman characters having no freedom and feeling trapped by their
husbands. In the Declaration of Independence, it was all about men and what men s rights were. The
Declaration of Sentiments allows women to have freedom and rights, before they were trapped by
their husbands. Their husbands had all the control over their wives until The Declaration of
Sentiments. The Yellow Wallpaper is a story about a wife that feels trapped by her husband. She loves
to write but her husband will not allow to do the things she loves. The character feels very depressed,
lonely, and trapped. Similarly to the Story of an Hour, the woman is depressed and felt captivated by
her husband also. She is so unbearably happy when she thinks her husband died, because she can
sense freedom beginning. Although, her husband is not dead and returns to the house, this is so
incredibly shocking and heartbreaking the wife dies. Female authors tend towards more selfless and
passionate stories. The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wallpaper are examples of selfless and
passionate stories. They both are selfless by not having freedom and feeling controlled by their
husbands. Also, the two stories are passionate because they want freedom but also love their husband.

Syntax And Syntax Of Language
The syntactic theory or syntax of language dates back in history in the 1950s by Chomsky (Math una,
2009). The word syntax is derived from the Greek word syntaxis , meaning together and sequence .
The term is used for the way in which words are put together in an orderly system to form phrases or
sentences (Allahabad, 2010). Therefore, for the non expert, word order is the most remarkable thing
about syntax (Bickerton, 2009). In fact, you could debate that word order is a secondary symptom,
necessitated by the fact that we have only a single channel of speech, forcing words to be produced in
a total order, and that word order falls out merely from reading the terminal nodes of a hierarchical
tree structure. The most vital thing about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theme Of Identity In The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao
One thing all human beings, have in common is the struggle for self identity. Children are raised by
parents or guardians who have struggled and fought for their own identities. In many cases, parents
are still trying to figure it out, while raising their own children. Such is the case with the characters in
Junot Diaz s, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. The theme of identity is conveyed through the
characters Dominican culture, social standing, and in finding love. Oscar, Lola, and Yunior are three
central characters in Oscar Wao, who s Dominican cultural and family expectations were major
obstacles as they struggled to establish their identity. Yunior represents the stereotypical Dominican
male raised in the states, yet he battles with self definition as he comes to terms with who he is on the
inside as opposed to who he is purportedly supposed to be on the outside. According to the Dominican
culture, males are the picture of masculinity, known for their womanizing ways. The central conflict
within Yunior is his love for the Dominican social norm versus his love for the things in his life that
represented nerdiness. Yunior lifted weights and ran to keep himself physically fit and was sexually
promiscuous, at the same time, he enjoyed and engaged in nerdy banter with Oscar about science
fiction genre, anime, fantasy and even writing. Yunior and Oscar share the same interests, which
Yunior would never admit to anyone else, which is clear when Yunior says,

Wal Mart Company Overview Essay
Basic History Overview
Wal Mart s history is one of innovation, leadership and success. It started with a single store in
Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 and has grown to what is now the world s largest and arguably, the most
emulated retailer. Some researchers refer to Wal Mart as the industry trendsetter. Today, this retailing
pioneer has annual revenues of over $100 billion, 3,000 stores and more than 750,000 employees
worldwide. Wal Mart operates each store, from the products it stocks, to the front end equipment that
helps speed checkout, with the same philosophy: provide everyday low prices and superior customer
service. Lower prices also eliminate the expense of frequent sales promotions and sales are more
predictable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What tactics has it used to become a major global retailer?
Wal Mart s success is mainly based on its concentration of a single business strategy. This strategy has
achieved enviable success over the last three decades without relying upon diversification to sustain
its growth and competitive advantages. In a sense, Wal Mart s low prices, service, and smile are their
leading marketing strategies. However, there is risk in this strategy, because concentration on a single
business strategy is similar to putting all of a firm s eggs in one industry basket . On the business side,
Wal Mart is the country s most sophisticated retailer in terms of using information systems. Their
cross docking inventory and transportation services able them to have the goods needed by the
consumer at all times. In order for Wal Mart to become a major global retailer, they have closely
examined and utilized tactics to profit from their many stores. One great tactic is starting free trade
zone distribution centers, in turn, saving almost $500,000 annually. Another tactic includes their
service from when you walk in the store to when you leave. Also, their bread and butter is again the
technology they utilize. They can track how much of one item has been sold on any giving day, and if
not a hot commodity at one store, they will ship it out to another where it is being sold much faster.
2. Can Wal Mart sustain its competitive advantage in global retailing?

The large scale system of currents that carry large bodies of water globally throughout the world is a
major factor that has to be considered when the construction of an AUV is in effect. This enormous
system of currents is known as the global conveyor belt . Not only is the global conveyor belt a huge
importance to bear in mind, but also in which part of the global conveyor belt will the AUV be
exploring. The global conveyor belt is greatly affected by the thermocline layer of the ocean. The
thermocline layer of the ocean is between the deep water layer of the ocean and the mixed water layer,
which lies at the top of the sea near the surface. Based on which layer of the ocean the water is in can
induce many different properties such as temperature and density and can influence different
components of the global conveyor belt. Although the thermocline layer of the ocean is a huge
influence on the way the global conveyor belt flows, there are many other factors that contribute to the
natural movement of the large scale currents (University of Illinois, 2010, n.p.). This widespread
system of currents starts its cycle all the way up in the North Atlantic near the North Pole. In the
beginning of its cycle the water begins on the surface of the ocean and is low in temperature due to the
freezing conditions in the Northern

Comparing The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fist
In Jacqueline L. McGrath s article, she mainly evaluates Sherman Alexie s attempt to negotiate the
traditions and innovations that are seemingly incompatible in her fiction, The Lone Ranger and Tonto

can be considered as a folklore. She argues that the work is not folklore, as it is widely considered
among other folklorists;instead, the fiction is a body of work that is much more complicated, which
transcends the confines of folklore and Native American oral tradition. Moreover, McGrath also
debuts the notion that Native American writing is more oral than other texts, since text is just a

Theologians such as have also offered definitions of theology which wholeheartedly embrace this
idea. John Frame has defined theology as: the application of the Word of God by persons to all areas
of life 7 This idea of whole life application has an impact upon our thought/orthodoxy, our
action/orthopraxis and our affection/orthopathos.8,9 However, this definition, in contrast to Wolftiech,
gives primacy to the authority of Scripture. Within the reformed perspective, primacy is given to
scripture as the rule for faith and life .10Frost and Hirsch assert that orthodoxy right belief is an
indispensable element of any Christian discipleship. It is evident the church frequently sees orthodoxy
in the narrow sense, as a commitment to propositional truth, assuming that the knowledge of God is
only received cognitively, However, the cognitive knowledge of God needs to be balanced by
orthopraxy and orthopathy in order for the believer to come to a full orbed, biblical engagement with

CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY
BY MICHAEL MOORE
Date: December 7, 2012 The film Capitalism: A Love Story is a documentary by Michael Moore
which outlines the negative effects capitalism has on modern society. Moore points out that capitalism
gives people the opportunity to make a lot of money and to have a high standard of living. However,
for many workers, making an income to support a family can be quite impossible. At one time, you
could find a secure job and live a good life, but capitalism has evolved into a system of greed where
only the rich get richer, and the middle class get poorer with no chance to better themselves. This
review will analyze the positive and negative impacts of capitalism shown in the ... Show more

Detrimentally, many corporations have evolved negatively where the CEOs are only concerned about
filling their own personal pockets with increasing profits and not caring at all about the well being of
their employees. Michael Moore eagerly points out the negative impacts capitalism has on society.
Capitalism no longer provides people with the long term sustainability needed to support themselves
and their families. A good example of this is when Moore speaks out about his hometown of Flint,
Michigan, and the GM plant where most of the citizens worked. When the automotive company shut
down, the workers lost their jobs, and they had nowhere to turn for money. Moore alluded the reason
the plant shut down was for the CEOs benefit because they were trying to make more profit, while not
giving a second thought for the welfare of the people of Flint. As a result, many families lost their
homes, and Flint became an abandoned city. Capitalism does not care about the average person
because it is a system where corporations compete for higher profits and more benefits for the rich
CEOs. If the GM plant in Flint was planning to close, and there was any regard for its employees, why
was there no effort made to retrain employees with skills needed for other jobs so that they could
continue to support their families and debts? In fact, CEOs of large corporations lobby and influence
government policies to permit special tax cuts and

Community Mental Health Movement Of The United States
Community Mental Health Movement
For many years, people who suffered with mental illness were more often than not institutionalized
and severely mistreated. The history of the Mental Health movement begins in 1909. The history of
advocacy began with Clifford W. Beers. Beers, himself an ex psychiatric patient who, after his release,
crusaded to bring mental health and mental illness to the attention of his fellow citizens (Pols). In
1908, Beers published his autobiography, A Mind That Found Itself, which roused the nation to the
plight of people with mental illnesses and set a reform movement into motion (Our History). Beers
advocacy for the mentally ill was just the beginning for what would be the development of several
new policies and programs that to this day continue to develop.
On February 19, 1909 Beers, along with philosopher William James and psychiatrist Adolf Meyer,
embraced that future by creating the National Committee for Mental Hygiene, later the National
Mental Health Association and what we know today as the Mental Health America ( Our History). The
year 1921 marked the beginning of the child guidance movement. Its goal was to prevent juvenile
delinquency through involvement of the Child Guidance clinics in the youth s lives. The American
Orthopsychiatric Associated was founded in 1924 at the initiative of Karl Menninger . Its aim was to
promote the medical view of crime, namely that criminals should be considered psychiatric patients

Oh, but you did. His counterpart concluded in his head. Harry could feel the tears pouring profusely,
refusing to look pass his eyelids. You caused it all. You brought their demise. Another sharp kick

With reference to relevant cultural theories analyse the representation of sexuality in a film/television
text of your choice.
I have chosen to look at and analyse a television text. It is a TV drama aimed at a teenage audience
called Skins. I chose this particular text as it focuses upon many different characters and scenarios in
regards to sexuality and this forms a basis for analysis and evaluation. Skins also focuses upon
Teenage sexuality, specifically, which I believe is a broad and interesting subject to analyse with many
opportunities to elaborate.
Skins is a British teen drama, which was aired on Channel 4 on terrestrial television and E4 on digital
television. It has had 2 seasons consisting of 19 episodes altogether. Skins ... Show more content on

The further off the rails Cassie goes, the more extreme the sexual situations, at one point courting a
female and then a few minutes after the female leaves a male arrives. Sexuality strongly influences
people s identity. (Op. cit. p.22) And at this point in the series we find that Cassie has a very mixed up
idea about who she is and what she wants.
This can also be seen in Season 1 when Maxxies best friend Anwar refuses to tell his parents about
Maxxies sexuality due to their religious beliefs. We see that Maxxie is torn between who he is and
whom Anwar wants him to be and this puts the friendship under great strain resulting in Maxxie
refusing to turn up to Anwars party. Gay adolescents who are more conventional in their gender
characteristics have the option of passing as straight and many do. (Op. cit. p. 461) This situation
happens a lot in real life but can be the cause of many problems, both for the person dealing with
feelings of homosexuality and hiding them and those around that person. Many people have reported
having feelings of being trapped within themselves and having pent up aggression due to being in
such a situation, which isn t hard to believe when we think that adolescence is when we discover
ourselves sexually. Adolescence involves the development of a sense of self and social identity
independent of one s parents (Erikson, 1968; Steinberg 2004). Answering questions about one s
sexuality figure centrally in this

The World War I Led From The Imperialist Age Of The 19th...
World War I led to the deaths of over 70 million people in Europe, and destroyed the already weak
infrastructure left from the imperialist age of the 19th century. During this time of rebuilding,
Germany turned to people they believed would help them rebuild. The people who would rebuild
would also destroy the freedoms of the German people through their aggressive takeover. This
takeover by the German National Socialist Party, dubbed the Nazi Party by Bavarians, was defined for
the brutality and the totalitarian government by which it ruled. So the question is, how did they take
over? How did a party made from the hands of but 5 people manage to conquer all of Germany during
the 1930s? This is due to the harsh stipulations enforced by the post war efforts of the allied powers
and the following collapse of many European countries. Lack of International Cooperation led to the
blaming of the Central Powers of Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire after the first
World War. The only problem with this was that Germany was the only nation intact after the
Armistice Day in 1918. Germany s Imperial government had been overthrown in the German
November Revolution of 1918 and had been set up as the new Weimar Republic. This meant that,
reluctantly, the German Reichstag had to accept blame for all damages created by the war and the
Central Powers. In 1919, after the conclusion of World War I, a formal treaty was signed. This treaty,
known as the Treaty of Versaille,

Review Of Descartes Meditations On First Philosophy
Descartes s conception of the self and how the self relates to the body started with how Descartes
viewed the self in Meditations on First Philosophy. Descartes wanted to start a new foundation with
philosophy and so he used reason to find truths that were unboubtful. Since sense data can deceive
you, Descartes could not trust things he saw, heard, or felt. I have noticed that the sense are sometimes
deceptive; and it is a mark of prudence never to place our complete trust in those who have deceived
us even once (Descartes, 1993, p.14). However, he realized it was possible to overcome senses due to
reason. A person can doubt what they see, since it could be a dream or an insane state, but person s
existence is undoubtful because it is self evident.

Ffa Creed Research Paper
I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds..... E.M. Tiffany wrote
the original FFA (Future Farmers of America) creed and it was revised at the 38th and 63rd FFA
National Convention, but it was adopted to the FFA at the third national convention. There are
649,355 current members that know this creed, but that number does not include the alumni
(https://www.ffa.org/about/who we are/our membership). FFA is just only one amazing thing you can
do with agriculture. We will be taking a look at the problems, causes, and the solutions so that more
people can know the FFA creed and can discover something that they didn t know about them and/or
the agriculture experience. Some of the problems are the lack of knowledge, the decline of agriculture,
and the lack of younger generations not wanting anything to do with agriculture. Most people in the
cities like Indianapolis, for example don t think they can do anything with agriculture because there is

Now, for a hydroponics there are three ways you could do it; water culture, multi flow, and ebb and
flow. Water culture is a low cost and easy one and all you need is a styrofoam platform, water, and
plants; Multi flow is a medium cost and is kinda hard to build and all it relies on is gravity flood plant
trays with water and nutrients, a timer, float switch to control water levels, and plants; and finally Ebb
and flow and that s an easy system too and all it takes a plant tray, tubing, water pump, nutrients,
water, and plants. Yet, for all of these you need a container or a fish tank to put them

four well known cheeses here:

This is the region from which comes the popular Dijon mustard.
Dishes unique to Burgundy are Boeuf Bourguignon a traditional French recipe. It is made with beef
braised in red wine and flavored with garlic, onions, carrots and garnished with pearl onions and

One of the dishes I love is made with escargots or cooked land snails. Usually made with garlic butter
and served as an appetizer.

The Eight Stages Of Psychosocial Development
Theory Selection Rational Understanding the eight stages of psychosocial development in a practical
sense is vital to building a healthy student teacher relationship. I selected this theory to gain an
understanding of how to effectively interact with my future students. This theory refines my ability to
identify and gage my student s unique psychological developmental progress. A deeper understanding
of this enables me the ability to identify key developmental milestones and improve my lesson plans
accordingly. I selected this theory because it provides me with the insight required to establish a bond
of trust with each student in my classroom. Additionally, I selected this theory because it provides me

classroom to develop initiative among my students. For example, I will achieve this by allowing my
them to select from a list of several writing projects or by developing their own subject as it pertains to
the lesson. This will demonstrate to my students that I respect their interests and provide them the
opportunity to take control of their learning process. Additionally, by allowing them to make these
types of decisions will demonstrate that I believe in their performance abilities. This is in connection
to stage three of Erikson s psychosocial developmental theory. (Batra, 2013). I will implement Erikson
s theory in my future classroom to develop industry among my students. For example, I will
accomplish this by simplifying extensive instructions or activities to make them more comprehensible
to my students. This will allow them to build upon smaller successes to achieve a greater goal.
Additionally, this will increase their confidence to step outside of their comfort zone. This is in

The shopping tourism in the movie Midnight in Paris by Woody Allen In the movie Midnight in Paris
Woody Allen sets his protagonist in a traveling to Paris; Gil is a Hollywood screenwriter that sees
Paris as a magic place where he will have enough inspiration be a good writer. Behind the story there
is the scenario the movie shows a lot of touristic places in Paris. For example, the opening scene is
beautiful; it is like a sequence of Paris postcards. By studying Woody Allen movies is perceived that
he uses clichés to promote a reflection. As Marcos C. P. Soares states A seleção de imagens tem,
assim, uma suavidade algo falseada, típica da publicidade promovida por agências de viagem . (2013,

After this scene the couple go to have dinner with Inez parents and she says that is busy of visiting the

meaning in visiting it. Another interesting scene is when Gil, Inez, Paul and his woman are with the
touristic guide in front of The Thinker by Rodin. The camera makes a movement showing the bronze
from top to bottom and stops focusing the tourists talking with the guide. The camera movement is the
tourist eye they looked fast and in an indifferently way to the cultural objects. After showing the
sculpture in a fast movement the camera focused on Paul arguing with the touristic guide about who s
were Rodin s wife and who s were the lover. They do not mention any detail about the sculpture even
the bronze s name is not said, Paul is just making flat and not trustful remarks but Inez says that Paul
is a very educated man and she seems to be fascinated by him. In his turns Gil claims that Paul is not
correct in the information about who were the wife and lover of Rodin and to support his affirmation
Gil says that he had read a Rodin s biography in two volumes. In an ironic way Gil makes clear to
Inez that he does not read Rodin s biography, so they just need to look

Personal Narrative Writing
Narrative writing retells an experience that has been life changing in some way. That means that the
subject can be a moment in which you learned something about yourself, about life, or had something
frightening happen to you that has changed your point of view. In the sample essays provided, I read
about experiences with racism, police brutality, and domestic violence.
In Rebecca Goldsmith s essay, Where Does It End? she describes a personal experience in which she
notices her grandmother s racial bias. I related to her writing because I have noticed members of my
family making racist remarks. When I visit my grandfather for holidays, he will ask me about how I
am doing and if I am in a relationship. When I reply, Yes, Grandpa. I have

Mamie Clark Essay
Mamie Phipps Clark was born on April 18, 1917 in Hot Spring, Arkansas. Mrs. Clark was brought up
knowing a professional lifestyle. Her father Harold H. Phipps was an African American, who was a
physician and was more than able to support his family of four rather easily. Her mother Katy
Florence Phipps, was a homemaker who was very involved in her husband s medical practice. Mamie
had explained that being an African American in the early 1930 s and living in the South was far from
easy, even for the middle class family that she came from. My father was a well respected black
person, and it was a phenomenon that is not really unusual in the South, that even in the highly

be more promising when it came to employment opportunities, and it would also allow for her to
explore the interests she had in children s development: I d always had an interest in children. Always,
from the time I was very small. I d always thought I wanted to work with children, and psychology
seemed a good field. In 1934, Mamie Clark graduated magna cum laude from Howard University,
Mamie then immediately enrolled in the psychology graduate program. In 1939 Mamie was studying
African American children that were in segregated nursery schools as a topic for her project. Her
master s thesis was, The Development of Consciousness of Self in Negro Pre School Children, and
that started the beginning of a line of research that later became historic when it was used to help
make racial segregation unconstitutional in American public schools. Her thesis concluded that the
children became aware of their blackness early on in their childhood. She used pictures of both white
and black boys with numerous animals and a clown. She concluded that the children did not self
identify with the different images, and it was this conclusion that later became the foundation

Evan And Freeman
1. Evan and Freeman believe that managers have a trust keeping relationship to stakeholders. They
think the modern corporation should be governed for the stakeholders and to their benefit. The theory
that they believe in is the stakeholder theory of the firm. They believe that in the government today the
stakeholders are being used as a means to some end and are not able to contribute in determining the
prospect of the company that they have a stake in.
2. One of the issues of the invisible hand that Evan and Freeman criticize is the free rider problem. No
one has the incentive to keep the water or air clean which results in pollution. The industrial
revolution brought about firms trying to externalize the costs of their actions, but the cost is suffered
by all through taxes and parameters. Through these issues in 1970 environmental regulations were put
in place. Evan and Freeman believe that these issues led to more external control on managerial
capitalism.

Deontology provides the strongest support for the views of Evan and Freeman on the social
responsibility of business. Evan and Freeman believe that each person has the right to be treated as an
end itself instead of as a means for someone else and Emmanuel Kant believes the same thing. Kant is
the philosopher who created deontology. The Formula of Humanity as End believes that each person
should be treated right and respected as human beings. Evan and Freeman talk about how Kant s
principle of respect for people cannot be ignored. The Principle of Corporate Rights in the stakeholder
theory is very similar to Kant s Formula of Humanity as an End in that they both believe that respect
human rights is very

Social Justice And Its Entire Entity
Social Justice in its entire entity: The Final Countdown to Defining Social Justice
Kaylie Ines
ID 201: Social Justice
Dr. Jorsch Dr. Van Tassel Fear and cruelty are the weapons of animals, not humanity, and social
injustices derive from fear the masked ego of one who has sustained through power: white power. It is
only fair to continue to talk about social injustice by defining what is social justice. Social justice
embodies a framework (and certainly not limited to) a community, a united nation, equitable in
standing together in belief and acceptance of diversity; equality; freedom; and equal opportunity to
income and its privileges. Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States of America
proclaims that a house divided cannot stand. I believe President Lincoln is correct with his statement,
if the house is not endowed in a universal cause and foundation, then the infrastructure is faulty and
will collapse. Here is how this connects to social justice, if that same house is not socially just,
separation will impel and will cause dilapidation within the foundation. This paper will implement
foci on Michelle Alexander s (The New Jim Crow) approach of the social issue of a new Jim Crow
system of mass incarceration in a colorblind society, and Barbara Ehrenreich s (Nickle and Dimed)
notion to the social injustice that derives from a capitalistic driven society that undermines the

  • 2. Characteristics Of Jay In The Great Gatsby My life has got to be like this, it s got to keep going up (Fitzgerald). It is this kind of attitude towards life that makes James Gatz great. He is a very motivated man who is always looking for ways to improve. From the time he was a boy in North Dakota, it was clear that James was going to be successful. When he ran away from home, it was the beginning of the ascent of his life. Gatsby is great because of his determination, independence, and imagination. When Gatsby meets Daisy, he is in love at first sight. Jay is in military training at Camp Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky when they first meet. Daisy comes from a very wealthy family, and had no idea that Gatsby is, in fact, very poor. This relationship would be acceptable for Daisy s family, and Gatsby knows that. This motivates him to live the kind of lifestyle that the reader sees when he first meets Gatsby. Jay is determined to have everything absolutely perfect, all for Daisy. He wants her to see that she can have both wealth and love if she is with him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He runs away from home as a young teen to begin living out his vision. Jay never really accepts his parents as his parents, as they have no way to support the lifestyle he aspires to live. Gatsby s imagination carries him to where he wants to be. Furthermore, when Gatsby s mentor Dan Kody passes away, Jay gets his inheritance stolen right out of his hands. When he is left with no money, Gatsby needs to figure out what to do. At this period in time, having no money can be devastating for a person. Jay Gatsby, the independent man he is, is unaffected. • 3. Ap English Short Stories It was early in the morning: Ruby left the tent, bleary eyed, and made his way through the field. Unbound by the decaying fence, the cows had strayed to the far end of the clearing. Ruby hopped the fence and began towards them; knowing the ritual, they stayed put. Now that he had breakfast, and lunch if the milk lasted, Ruby began on the path that lead through the woods. He could hear the larks calling; boasting, he imagined, to each other that they, too, were awake. Besides them it was quite. Coming out into the sunlight once again, Ruby paused and took a look around. Exactly as he had left it. He started his daily chore, picking through the rouble, looking for bits of metal, jewelry, and tools. Despite this having been a mining settlement, Ruby could find very little ... It was in a way, a nice place to visit. Long left by civilisation, nature has reclaimed all but the houses, now standing in a sea of grass. Birds flock to the island, knowing they will be undisturbed. Despite it s small size, it now has a population of deer, who must have washed ashore and made the hard journey from mainland. If it is a short stop, I doubt one would be more than bothered by the bodies. But it made sleeping overnight impossible. Even from the boathouse and the docks, one can see a path of wreckage: lighthouse, once proud, is decrepit, and risks its integrity with a gaping hole in it s side. The main building, moldy and listing, has a corresponding hole in it s roof. At the bottom of this path lies a skeleton, axe in hand, looking up at the stars. Ruby didn t care whether the island was quaint, however. Nor if it was haunted. He wanted to leave because he was bored. He wanted to leave because he was tired of the same day in and day out. BRIEF SYNOPSIS EDWARD Ed HEWITT feels an emotional connection to his Uncle Earl s silver lighter. It s a lighter that the family treasures and reminds them of Earl, who died. When Ed s father, LLOYD, comes upon a car accident, he helps save two women, EMILY NOVAL (20 s) and her mother, MARY. Lloyd is surprised when he sees Mary. He recognizes the ring on her finger. It was the ring that Earl was going to give her. After Earl s death, Lloyd gave Mary the ring. She has never taken it off. Maybe Dorothy develops feelings for another man. Maybe when Ed left she was pregnant. In addition, when Ed returns home, the audience feels cheated out of seeing the moment that Ed and Dorothy are finally reunited. This is what the audience has been anticipating, but then suddenly on page 89 they are together. Once they reunite, the story needs to end pretty quickly. The story currently goes on for another 22 or so pages without any real goal or focus. It focuses too much on Ed and Hel. The audience doesn t see Dorothy get sick or die. There s no doubt that the characters are likable and potentially intriguing. It s easy to root for Ed and for Dorothy. Unfortunately because there are too many characters and shifting timelines, the main characters, like Ed and Dorothy, don t get as much focus as they should. Once the non essential scenes, subplots, and characters are streamlined, these characters will stand out more. Overall, the dialogue is consistent with the personalities of each of the characters and reveals information about them. However, avoid sounding overly melodramatic, like when Lloyd sees the ring and says Oh my God! There are formatting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The U.S is a country that puts in about 17.1% of its GDP into the health care sector, but still seem to be getting a poor outcome compared to its counterparts(Squires Anderson, 2015). Although their health care spending seemed to have slowed over the years, they still spend a lot more than most high income well developed nations around the world (Squires Anderson, 2015). • 6. Learned Helplessness And Mental Disorders Learned helplessness is something that a lot of people go through without knowing all of the factors that may trigger it. Learned helplessness is when someone suffers from powerlessness about repeated failing attempts to succeed. This paper will focus on some of things that are related to learned helplessness and a way to help reduce it, such as mental disorders, health problems, gender, job status, and race. One way to reduce it among women is counseling with another female. Learned helplessness can cause and/or is related to mental disorders such as depression and PTSD, health problems such as asthma weight and it is also related to job status. There are studies that show that women can reduce learned helplessness if they are counseled by another female rather than a male. One factor that may cause learned helplessness is depression. In a study by Klein, Morse, and Seligman (1976), researchers did a study on both men and women. They wanted to know how well depressed and non depressed people were able to answer solvable or three different types of non solvable questions. This study consisted of 81 University of Pennsylvania undergraduates. The participants were assigned to either the depressed or non depressed group based off how well they did on the Beck Depression Inventory. After they completed the BDI test the participants were placed into one of the question type groups. The participants were assigned to either a solvable or non solvable group where they answered ... • 7. Persuasive Essay On Gifted Education Ward, 2005); President Obama s defunding of the Javits Act, as part of the federal budget in 2012 (Equity) (Stephens, 2011), and the passing of the TALENT Act under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in 2015 (NAGC, n.d.). In short, the federal government s support for gifted education has been inconsistent at best, and when compared to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which guarantees all children between the ages of three and twenty one with specifically identified disabilities a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment in conformance with an Individualized Education Program (Ward, 2005, p. 58) funding and support by federal government is severely lacking (Brown, 2008; Ward, 2005). Nevertheless, the TALENT Act (2015) is encouraging for gifted education as it promotes professional development to support high ability students, seeks to recognize and respond to excellence gaps, makes student achievement data publicly available, and advocates for research and the distribution of research that supports best practices in gifted education (NAGC, n.d.). Likewise, the Javits Act continues to give hope to those who have been historically underrepresented in gifted education through the first of its two priorities, which is to support Initiatives [that] develop and scale up models serving students who are underrepresented in gifted and talented programs (USDOE, 2017). Nomination and Confirmatory Practices In Comparing Apples and Oranges: Fifteen years of definitions of giftedness in research, Carman (2013) identified nine gifted identification methods she found through reviewing 103 articles. These methods were intelligence tests (IQ), achievement tests, academic achievement (Grades), teacher, parent, counselor, and committee recommendation, extracurricular activities, and additional sources of evidence (i.e. Performance Based Assessments). Carman (2013) also wrote, in her article, that there appears to be some confusion between giftedness and intelligence since definitions of giftedness often align more with the latter than the former. The fact that there are blurred lines between these terms might explain why there has been an overreliance on IQ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Criminal Behavior And Social Control Our society is at the will of two fundamental forces: deviant behavior and social control. Behaviors that are not deemed as socially acceptable, or that do not fall in line with what society calls normal , are deviant. Social control aims to influence people s behaviors and is a means of moderating, as well as preventing deviance. The two forms of social control are informal and formal social control. The former consists of self control and relational controls (Owen, Fradella, Burke, Joplin, 2012, p. 103) while the latter uses governmental resources to deter deviance in its citizens. In my opinion, informal social control is a better deterrent of criminal behavior since your own will and how you are raised can be the greatest forces driving a person to live a good life or choose to start one. Informal social control comes down to two forms of interactions the ones that you form with yourself that develop your conscience and those that you experience with others. The first, internal, can not necessarily exist without the second, external, because we learn and gauge what is right or wrong from the environments and people around us. Our parents encouraging us to go to school, stay away from drugs, and raising us to be responsible members of society is an example of external social control. In contrast to informal social control, formal social control employs alternative methods of behavioral control. According to Owen, Fradella, Burke, Joplin (2012), Donald Black, a ... • 10. Syntax And Syntax Of Language The syntactic theory or syntax of language dates back in history in the 1950s by Chomsky (Math una, 2009). The word syntax is derived from the Greek word syntaxis , meaning together and sequence . The term is used for the way in which words are put together in an orderly system to form phrases or sentences (Allahabad, 2010). Therefore, for the non expert, word order is the most remarkable thing about syntax (Bickerton, 2009). In fact, you could debate that word order is a secondary symptom, necessitated by the fact that we have only a single channel of speech, forcing words to be produced in a total order, and that word order falls out merely from reading the terminal nodes of a hierarchical tree structure. • 11. Theme Of Identity In The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao One thing all human beings, have in common is the struggle for self identity. Children are raised by parents or guardians who have struggled and fought for their own identities. In many cases, parents are still trying to figure it out, while raising their own children. Such is the case with the characters in Junot Diaz s, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. The theme of identity is conveyed through the characters Dominican culture, social standing, and in finding love. Oscar, Lola, and Yunior are three central characters in Oscar Wao, who s Dominican cultural and family expectations were major obstacles as they struggled to establish their identity. Yunior represents the stereotypical Dominican male raised in the states, yet he battles with self definition as he comes to terms with who he is on the inside as opposed to who he is purportedly supposed to be on the outside. According to the Dominican culture, males are the picture of masculinity, known for their womanizing ways. The central conflict within Yunior is his love for the Dominican social norm versus his love for the things in his life that represented nerdiness. Yunior lifted weights and ran to keep himself physically fit and was sexually promiscuous, at the same time, he enjoyed and engaged in nerdy banter with Oscar about science fiction genre, anime, fantasy and even writing. It started with a single store in Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 and has grown to what is now the world s largest and arguably, the most emulated retailer. Some researchers refer to Wal Mart as the industry trendsetter. Today, this retailing pioneer has annual revenues of over $100 billion, 3,000 stores and more than 750,000 employees worldwide. Wal Mart operates each store, from the products it stocks, to the front end equipment that helps speed checkout, with the same philosophy: provide everyday low prices and superior customer service. Lower prices also eliminate the expense of frequent sales promotions and sales are more predictable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What tactics has it used to become a major global retailer? Wal Mart s success is mainly based on its concentration of a single business strategy. This strategy has achieved enviable success over the last three decades without relying upon diversification to sustain its growth and competitive advantages. In a sense, Wal Mart s low prices, service, and smile are their leading marketing strategies. However, there is risk in this strategy, because concentration on a single business strategy is similar to putting all of a firm s eggs in one industry basket . On the business side, Wal Mart is the country s most sophisticated retailer in terms of using information systems. Their cross docking inventory and transportation services able them to have the goods needed by the consumer at all times. In order for Wal Mart to become a major global retailer, they have closely examined and utilized tactics to profit from their many stores. One great tactic is starting free trade zone distribution centers, in turn, saving almost $500,000 annually. Another tactic includes their service from when you walk in the store to when you leave. Also, their bread and butter is again the technology they utilize. They can track how much of one item has been sold on any giving day, and if not a hot commodity at one store, they will ship it out to another where it is being sold much faster. 2. Introduction: AUV s are improving and technologically advancing to allow scientists and deep sea researchers to explore the vast unknown of the underwater world. AUV s are automated underwater vehicles that can explore bodies of water without the influence of an external control source. The large scale system of currents that carry large bodies of water globally throughout the world is a major factor that has to be considered when the construction of an AUV is in effect. This enormous system of currents is known as the global conveyor belt . Not only is the global conveyor belt a huge importance to bear in mind, but also in which part of the global conveyor belt will the AUV be exploring. The global conveyor belt is greatly affected by the thermocline layer of the ocean. The thermocline layer of the ocean is between the deep water layer of the ocean and the mixed water layer, which lies at the top of the sea near the surface. Based on which layer of the ocean the water is in can induce many different properties such as temperature and density and can influence different components of the global conveyor belt. Although the thermocline layer of the ocean is a huge influence on the way the global conveyor belt flows, there are many other factors that contribute to the natural movement of the large scale currents (University of Illinois, 2010, n.p.). This widespread system of currents starts its cycle all the way up in the North Atlantic near the North Pole. In the beginning of its cycle the water begins on the surface of the ocean and is low in temperature due to the freezing conditions in the Northern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More specifically, McGrath challenges the notion that Sherman Alexie s fiction can be considered as a folklore. She argues that the work is not folklore, as it is widely considered among other folklorists;instead, the fiction is a body of work that is much more complicated, which transcends the confines of folklore and Native American oral tradition. Moreover, McGrath also debuts the notion that Native American writing is more oral than other texts, since text is just a medium for representing parts of an oral traditional ... Reasons For The Study Of Spirituality From A Theological... ntroduction The aim of this essay is to discuss Wolftiech s reasons for the study of spirituality from a practical theological perspective. It will do this by outlining the reasons for study found in Wolftiech s writings. Resultantly, it will discuss the strengths, weaknesses, and implications of Wolftiech s reasons viewed from a Reformed theological frame of reference. Finally, a conclusion will be offered suggesting a reforming approach to Practical theology. John Frame has defined theology as: the application of the Word of God by persons to all areas of life 7 This idea of whole life application has an impact upon our thought/orthodoxy, our action/orthopraxis and our affection/orthopathos.8,9 However, this definition, in contrast to Wolftiech, gives primacy to the authority of Scripture. Within the reformed perspective, primacy is given to scripture as the rule for faith and life .10Frost and Hirsch assert that orthodoxy right belief is an indispensable element of any Christian discipleship. It is evident the church frequently sees orthodoxy in the narrow sense, as a commitment to propositional truth, assuming that the knowledge of God is only received cognitively, However, the cognitive knowledge of God needs to be balanced by orthopraxy and orthopathy in order for the believer to come to a full orbed, biblical engagement with (and knowledge of) God. 11 Conversely, Wolftiech at times places much emphasis on pathos. Michael Moore Capitailism a Love Story Review Essay MOVIE REVIEW CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY BY MICHAEL MOORE Date: December 7, 2012 The film Capitalism: A Love Story is a documentary by Michael Moore which outlines the negative effects capitalism has on modern society. Moore points out that capitalism gives people the opportunity to make a lot of money and to have a high standard of living. However, for many workers, making an income to support a family can be quite impossible. At one time, you could find a secure job and live a good life, but capitalism has evolved into a system of greed where only the rich get richer, and the middle class get poorer with no chance to better themselves. Detrimentally, many corporations have evolved negatively where the CEOs are only concerned about filling their own personal pockets with increasing profits and not caring at all about the well being of their employees. Michael Moore eagerly points out the negative impacts capitalism has on society. Capitalism no longer provides people with the long term sustainability needed to support themselves and their families. A good example of this is when Moore speaks out about his hometown of Flint, Michigan, and the GM plant where most of the citizens worked. When the automotive company shut down, the workers lost their jobs, and they had nowhere to turn for money. Moore alluded the reason the plant shut down was for the CEOs benefit because they were trying to make more profit, while not giving a second thought for the welfare of the people of Flint. As a result, many families lost their homes, and Flint became an abandoned city. Capitalism does not care about the average person because it is a system where corporations compete for higher profits and more benefits for the rich CEOs. If the GM plant in Flint was planning to close, and there was any regard for its employees, why was there no effort made to retrain employees with skills needed for other jobs so that they could continue to support their families and debts? In fact, CEOs of large corporations lobby and influence government policies to permit special tax cuts and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Community Mental Health Movement Of The United States Community Mental Health Movement For many years, people who suffered with mental illness were more often than not institutionalized and severely mistreated. The history of the Mental Health movement begins in 1909. The history of advocacy began with Clifford W. Beers. Beers, himself an ex psychiatric patient who, after his release, crusaded to bring mental health and mental illness to the attention of his fellow citizens (Pols). In 1908, Beers published his autobiography, A Mind That Found Itself, which roused the nation to the plight of people with mental illnesses and set a reform movement into motion (Our History). Beers advocacy for the mentally ill was just the beginning for what would be the development of several new policies and programs that to this day continue to develop. On February 19, 1909 Beers, along with philosopher William James and psychiatrist Adolf Meyer, embraced that future by creating the National Committee for Mental Hygiene, later the National Mental Health Association and what we know today as the Mental Health America ( Our History). The year 1921 marked the beginning of the child guidance movement. Its goal was to prevent juvenile delinquency through involvement of the Child Guidance clinics in the youth s lives. The American Orthopsychiatric Associated was founded in 1924 at the initiative of Karl Menninger . Its aim was to promote the medical view of crime, namely that criminals should be considered psychiatric patients (Pols). In 1946, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

World War I led to the deaths of over 70 million people in Europe, and destroyed the already weak infrastructure left from the imperialist age of the 19th century. During this time of rebuilding, Germany turned to people they believed would help them rebuild. The people who would rebuild would also destroy the freedoms of the German people through their aggressive takeover. This takeover by the German National Socialist Party, dubbed the Nazi Party by Bavarians, was defined for the brutality and the totalitarian government by which it ruled. So the question is, how did they take over? How did a party made from the hands of but 5 people manage to conquer all of Germany during the 1930s? This is due to the harsh stipulations enforced by the post war efforts of the allied powers and the following collapse of many European countries. Lack of International Cooperation led to the blaming of the Central Powers of Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire after the first World War. The only problem with this was that Germany was the only nation intact after the Armistice Day in 1918. Germany s Imperial government had been overthrown in the German November Revolution of 1918 and had been set up as the new Weimar Republic. This meant that, reluctantly, the German Reichstag had to accept blame for all damages created by the war and the Central Powers. Since sense data can deceive you, Descartes could not trust things he saw, heard, or felt.
