Disputed Territory of Israel and Palestine
The territory of Israel and Palestine has been disputed since 1947, and the conflict in this region
continues to this day. It has become an international conflict as it has spread outside the boundaries
of those nations involved, associating other countries such as Syria, Jordan and Egypt with the
contentions. Other countries have also become involved, with the aim of generating peace and
stability throughout the region, but as of yet, the unrest remains. The recent conflict originally
arose after world war two as a result of the UN (United Nations) allowing the division of the
Palestine region into Jewish and Arab sectors because of the migration of many Jews into the
region, in 1930 alone 230,000 Jews moved into this location to avoid the negative attitudes and
actions that were brought about as a result of the Hitler Regime. The Palestinians believe that Israel
belongs to them, and that the UN s decision is wrong, whereas the Jews believe that parts of the
land belong to them because of the religiously important history related to the location, a
movement known as Zionism also encouraged Jews to move to Palestine as they saw it as the
natural location to create a Jewish state. One location that was proven in court to religiously belong
to the Jews is the Sheik Jarrah neighbourhood, where Jews are now being allowed to settle, with the
other parts of the population being forcefully evicted from their homes.
One location that is populated by Palestinians is that of the

Role Of The Australian Government For Unauthorised...
Introduction:
The purpose of my outcome is to research comparisons between the roles of the Australian
government for unauthorised arrivals found to be refugees and those who are not.
According to Australian Human rights commission (2014), recently, asylum seekers who arrive
without visas and by boat are detained and usually transferred to Christmas Island. On the other
hand, asylum seekers who arrive in Australia by plane with appropriate documentation are granted
bridging visas and released into the community pending www.humanrights.gov.au (2012). The
reason of being important is issue begin from many years ago and still going, so the government

What is the Australia s humanitarian policy regarding asylum seekers and refugees?

Hamlet Tragedy Analysis
Hamlet, despite being an introspective look at grief as well as a cautionary tale of the human
condition, is first and foremost a tragedy. The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, by William
Shakespeare, is a play written in the early 17th century that follows the Senecan formula: a
playwriting method originating in Rome which accentuates points of revenge, honor, the
supernatural, suicide, and blood. This formula is evident throughout the play but is fully realized in
the character of Hamlet. He is a tragic hero, bound to revenge, goaded by the ghost of his father,
who with each decision moves closer to his inevitable death. Hamlet has many observable traits.
He is intelligent, emotional, temperamental, and bold but his tragic flaw is that of overthinking.
Though Hamlet is driven by instinct to right the wrong done to his father, he does not act as
such. He carefully calculates all of his advances against his antagonists and spends a
considerable amount of time explaining to the audience what complications certain issues
present. O all you host of heaven! O earth! What else? And shall I couple hell? Oh, fie! Hold,
hold, my heart, And you, my sinews, grow not instant old, But bear me stiffly up. Remember
thee! Ay, thou poor ghost, whiles memory holds a seat In this distracted globe. Remember thee!
Yea, from the table of my memory I ll wipe away all trivial fond records, All saws of books, all
forms, all pressures past That youth and observation copied there, And thy commandment all
alone shall live Within the book and volume of my brain, Unmixed with baser matter. Yes, by
heaven! O most pernicious woman! O villain, villain, smiling, damnГЁd villain! My tables!
Meet it is I set it down That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain. At least I m sure it may be
so in Denmark. (writes) So, uncle, there you are. Now to my word. It is Adieu, adieu. Remember
me. I have sworn t. (I.v.94 1130) In Hamlet s long soliloquy he belabors the idea of fate and its
unfairness. After stewing over his villainous uncle and mother, he finally commits himself to
vengeance by the ghost s suggestion. This action in particular is the one that sets him on the path to
his death. Hamlet s tendency to overthink can most notably be

Sample Population Of 303 Beneficiaries Received Palliative...
Results
The final sample population of 303 beneficiaries received palliative radiation treatment in 2014
to bone metastases. Of those 303 beneficiaries, 24 beneficiaries (7.92%) had single fraction
treatments and 279 beneficiaries (92.1%) had multi fraction treatments. The majority were 65 75
years of age (n=129; 42.6%) and 76 85 years of age (n=106; 35%). The mean age was 73.3 years,
and the majority were Caucasian (n=276; 91.1%). The majority of all radiation treatments are in the
Southeast (n=123; 40.6%) and gender was mostly balanced, with slightly more males than females.
Overall, in our study the most common type of primary cancer to receive radiation for bone
metastases are those with a primary diagnosis of lung cancer. Table 1 titled Demographic and
Primary Malignancy Characteristics, provides a summary of the demographics.
Of the 25 beneficiaries that received a single fraction course of treatment, the most common site
of primary diagnosis was lung (n=10; 55.6%), prostate (n=3; 16.7%) and kidney (n=2; 11.1%). The
mean age was 74.5 years and gender was proportionate. The majority of patients were from the
southeast region (n=12; 50%) of the US. Most beneficiaries were in the age group 76 85 (n=12;
50%), followed by 65 75 year olds (n =8; 33.3%).
Of the 278 beneficiaries that received multi fraction course of treatment, the most common
primary diagnosis was lung (n=57; 24.3%), prostate (n=52; 22.1%) and breast (n=48; 20.4%). The

Summary Of Reproductionry In Auspicious Eggs
In society reproduction is one of the most important things that keeps our world s population
growing. In these three short dystopian stories there are different approaches on ideas on what
reproduction should be like and how it should be approached. Reproduction rights have an
immensely big impact on each of these stories in different circumstances but are very much alike.
These three different stories have different rules for the way they run their reproductionsystems in
their communities. Ten with a Flag the way the society has to do with reproduction is by a
ranking system. In this case the people in the story find out how great their child is by ranking, so
if the child is a ten it s perfect and if the baby has a perfect ten with a flag, the flag means that the
baby might have something troubled or wrong about its persona. Amaryllis is about keeping society
to a minimum. Auspicious Eggs is about the Catholic Churchand its involvement the reproductive
system. All of these stories have harsh endings if an individual can t do something to meet society
s specifications about reproduction rules. In Auspicious Eggs it describes if a baby is not fertile
the baby does not have the right to live, if women or men aren t fertile and they cannot produce
new beings they are killed as a result. Ten With a Flag, the flag represents something wrong with the
newborn meaning that something is wrong with the child or something terrible is going to happen

Outlasting the SARS Epidemic
Introduction
When speaking of epidemics, the memories which come to mind are different for different
people; for those who lived in Hong Kong in 2002 2003, images that spring up would almost
invariably be of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, the epidemic known to man as SARS in
short. Sharing with us the three letter acronym (SAR) which was given to us by our leaders in
China, this ordeal has left its mark on our city in more ways than one. It had caused a widespread
wave of mysophobia and health consciousness among the Hong Kong people, which outlasted the
SARS epidemic but is probably slowly waning. It has also raised the awareness of the government
of the importance of the control of infectious diseases, both in the community and in the clinical
setting. Most importantly, SARS showed us what works and what needs improving in terms of
infection control in the event of a major epidemic.
Originally starting in November 2002 in Guangdong Province of China, the SARS coronavirus
has since infected as many as 8422 persons worldwide, with a total of 1755 patients infected,
among which 300 unfortunately succumbed to this disease. (1) Apart from being a major
epidemic in the medical history of Hong Kong and a health threat of global concern, another
aspect of SARS worth noting is the occurrence of nosocomial outbreaks. SARS was the cause of
nosocomial outbreaks in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore. (2) The impact of
nosocomial outbreak in an epidemic such as SARS

Persuasive Essay On The Standard Of Beauty
When thirteen year old Alyssa looks into the mirror, she runs through a list of everything she
hates about her body, I wish my stomach was flatter, my chest was bigger, my thighs were
skinnier, my arms were more toned, and my waist was smaller. She looks into the mirror,
comparing her body to the bodies of her friends, celebrities and the images she sees in magazines.
Alyssa does not look like all those girls and this makes her feel gross, insecure and out of place.
Beauty standards are so high they create negative body images and women who hate the way they

The Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, unlike the American s do not gather statistics, but
Canadian surgeons say they are seeing the same increase in plastic surgery among the millennial
youth (Thomas, 2015). The statistics on teenagers and plastic surgery are shocking, but this is not
surprising because teens are vulnerable to having issues with poor body image, and this results in
feeling like there is no other option other than plastic surgery. They want to look perfect and fit in
with society. Teens should not have to turn to operations to physically change their bodies just to fit
in with today s beauty standards.
High standards of beauty are causing girls to lose out on opportunities because they feel they
will be judged for the way they look and this leads to eating disorders, unhealthy diets and overall
poor health. In a world surrounded by celebrities and fashion models who look impossibly thin,
a message is sent to teens that they must look this way to be socially accepted. This message can
lead to unhealthy eating habits and self esteem issues. Approximately 75 percent of girls as
young as nine years old have dieted two to five times in a given year and at any given time, 5 to
10 million women and girls globally have eating disorders that harm their health (Flynt, 2009).
Teens all over the world, especially in Western society, are being diagnosed with eating disorder

1. Who wrote the document? The letter Abigail Adams to John Adams, 31 March 1776 is a
correspondence written by a passionate and intelligent woman named Abigail Adamsto her
husband, John Adams, while he is away from home serving as a delegate from Massachusets at the

In writing this document, Abigail Adams to John Adams, 31 March 1776, the author, Abigail
Adams, is trying to illustrate a desperate need for equality.1 As she has the ear and respect of a
man well placed to impact the treatment of and protections for women within the realm of the new
government, Abigail takes the opportunity to stress the importance of being more generous and
favourable to them [women] than your ancestors by taking away a man s legal control over, and
ability to be tyrannical towards, their wives.1 She cleverly illustrates the frustrating plight of
women by implicitly correlating the vexation over lack of representation that has brought her
husband to the Second Continental Congress in the first place and the potential for women to
rebel based on their own frustration over lack of representation in society.1,2 The need for
equality is not simply the explicitly stated need for equal protections of women within the
legislation of a new government, but the longing for equality within the realm of attention and
affection is also exhibited within the letter. Abigail begins her letter wishing that her husband
would ever write me a [l]etter half as long as I write you and writes in the closing paragraph that
she wants to hear much oftener from you than I do. 1 While the main purpose of the letter may not
have been to request less one sidedness in the current state of their relationship while her

Franklin D. Roosevelt, Congress, and the New Deal
Prompt: Even though people consider him one of the most powerful executives in US
governmental history, FDR had to deal with the other branches of government just like other
presidents. How did he disagree with Congress early on in the New Deal? How did he disagree
with them late in the New Deal?
The founders certainly crafted much of the current form and function (as well as the way it was in
the 1930 s and 1940 s) with the idea that no single person or body would have too much power in
the government. Having a legislative body that must pass the laws, a President who can push an
agenda but not on his own and a judicial body that makes sure that laws pass constitutional
muster is essential to prevent unethical (or even tyrannical) events to occur. Certainly, FDR was
no tyrant. Like most Presidents, he didn t have a large swath of Congress that was eager to do
his legislative bidding like President Barack Obama enjoyed from 2007 to 2010 when he and his
fellow Democrats controlled the House, Senate and the Presidency, the latter of those four years
being when the Affordable Care Act was passed. FDR certainly was dealt a blow when the
opposing party won thirteen governorships, doubled their strength in the House and gained eight
new seats in the Senate in 1938 . That seismic shift basically but the kibosh on the New Deal s
two major shifts. the first of which happened in 1933 34 and the latter happening in 1935 38 .
The First part of the New Deal was actually opposed by a

Each one of us is seeking for an attractive perfect smile which can be obtained by several
procedures one of them is veneers, which most of people call it Hollywood smile . Dental
veneer is a thin layer of ceramic material placed over a tooth, either for protection to compensate
damage, or for whitening. The procedure goes as the following, if a specific tooth is discolored,
damaged or chipped. One layer of the enamel is taken off, and a ceramic material veneer such as
porcelain is placed over the tooth. The patients get to choose color, size and shape of the veneer
that they prefer. Veneers have different thicknesses that can be fitted to help them appear straighter

пЃ¶Expert home bleaching
Bleaching is the simplest and most stable treatment in aesthetic dentistry; it was first introduced in
the year 1989. Clinical studies have shown that a brighter smile can be obtained by using hydrogen
peroxide (H2O2) of 10% concentration repeatedly over a period of time which varies from several
days to weeks to obtain satisfying results depending on the discoloration of the teeth. At home
bleaching is based on effective bleaching agents that are mainly made up of hydrogen peroxide
since its known for its powerful oxidation property.
An example of over the counter/at home bleaching kits is the use of hydrogen peroxide gel or
paste that s applied in a custom fitted tray that is placed over the teeth for a specific period of time.
An alternative to tray based kits would be the whitening strips that are offered by different
brands such as (crest) and many others, the idea behind strips is using a flexible polyethene strip
that has a layer of hydrogen peroxide gel and then is fixed to the anterior of the teeth for
approximately 30 minutes twice a day over a 14 day period.

Scared, worried and stress were some of the things that I felt at the time. My friends were doing

other was trying to build a oxygen tank from spare parts we had in the shuttle. It had been

Hitler s annexation of Czechoslovakia breached the written guarantee he had issued to Chamberlain
in Munich in 1938, stating that he had no further territorial demands to make in Europe. Therefore,
on 31 March 1939, Chamberlain issued a formal guarantee of Poland s borders and said that he
expected Hitler to moderate his demands.
Hitler was not deterred, and on 3 April he ordered the Wehrmacht to prepare for the invasion of
Poland on 1 September. Hitler was convinced that Chamberlain would not go to war to defend
Poland and that France would lack the will to act alone.
Nazi Soviet pact
Hitler s only real concern was that a sudden German invasion of Poland might alarm Stalin and
trigger a war with the Soviet Union. Stalin feared a German invasion and had been seeking an anti
Nazi collective security alliance with the western powers for many years, but by July 1939 Britain
and France had still not agreed terms.
Poland had also rejected an alliance with the Soviet Union, and refused permission for the Red
Army to cross its territory to engage the Wehrmacht in a future war. Hitler saw his opportunity, and
authorised his Foreign Minister, Joachim von Ribbentrop to enter into secret negotiations with the
Soviet Union.
The result was the signing of the Nazi Soviet Pact on 23 August 1939. Both Hitler and Stalin set
aside their mutual antipathy for national gain and in particular the restoration of their pre 1919
borders.

On the other hand, the extroverted face on the right features a smile and is gazing forward. They

The Face of a Leader vs. the Face of a Follower judgement Facial structure plays a huge role in who
we respect as leaders. The image on the right is an example of a highly dominant face. Its brows,
jawline, and cheekbones are strong set and it makes the person with the face look like they are
prepared to go to battle.
Contrastingly, the other face is seen as having low dominance because its features are more wide
eyed, soft, and vulnerable traits that are not stereotypically associated with leaders.

Oppositional Defiant Disorder Analysis
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) is one of the most prevailing and expensive mental health
problems for children and teen agers. Approximately 5% to 10% of 8 to 16 year olds present
with ODD behavior problems ( Erford,et al. 2013). Oppositional Defiant Disorder is part of the
disruptive behavior disorders (DBD) group, given this name because those who are diagnosed
disrupt people in their environment. According to the American Academy of Child Adolescent
Psychiatry from 2013, physicians define ODD as a pattern of disobedient, hostile, and defiant
behavior directed toward authority figures. Children and adolescents with ODD often rebel, are
stubborn, argue with adults, and refuse to obey. They have angry outbursts and have a hard... Show

These patterns last for at least 6 months (APA, 2013). ODD has also been associated with
excessive arguing, cognitive and social deficits, and significant adult child and child peer
interaction problems. Youth with ODD demonstrate high rates of aggressive and antisocial
behaviors, with a subset displaying callousness and psychopathic traits, including a lack of guilt,
empathy, and remorse. It is important to note the difference between ODD and CD (conduct
disorder). The defining characteristic of oppositional defiant disorder is a fight against being
controlled. For a child like this, being controlled feels like drowning. CD is used to describe an
older child or adolescent who has moved into a pattern of violating the rights of others through
intimidation or aggression. This could be against people or animals, and include more serious
violations such as theft and vandalism.. The DSM 5, a diagnostic handbook used by mental health
professionals, describes these individuals as having a callous and unemotional interpersonal style.
(Colins Andershed, 2015). These adolescents lack empathy. Children with CD and callous
unemotional (CU) traits present with patterns of persistent and violent antisocial behaviour which
include low empathy and guilt and shallow affect. Currently, CU is considered a subtype for
conduct disorder, according to the

The Current Development Of Racial Discrimination
The reality is clear; race is deeply involved in our legal system. From the start of this bureaucracy
the constitution had a specific definition of race and what it represented in the modern democratic
arena. The fact of the matter is simple; race carries lack of objectivity from the start of this
constitutional democracy to the present modernized country. The Civil Rights Movement was long
overdue and even that impactful moment in history has not seen the light at the end of the tunnel.
Our legal system surrounds itself with defining race, class, and gender. It seems that after two
centuries this institution carries baggage that should have been left behind long ago. Throughout
this essay I will try to address the current development of racial discrimination that takes part in our
current legal system. I will focus on the recent policeshootings and how the police are being held
accountable for their actions. Before diving into our current racial instability, I will describe a
few terminologies that affects the legal philosophy and how it ultimately operates. I will break
down the categorization our current legal system occupies, I will tie this with the police shootings
as of recent, and I will factually explain how these so called incidents are not fictional occurrences
as they are being labeled by mainstream media. Perspective is everything, how we look at
something can determine our conclusive evaluation. Our current legal system has avoided the idea

Good Ideas In The Circle By Dave Eggers
Have you ever had that creepy feeling that someone is watching you, but when you look around
no one is there? Or wonder how everyone seems to know your every move? That could be how we

detriment to the company; sharing is caring , every aspect of your life should be shared with

Dark Knight Sparknotes
I am going to write a film analysis essay for the film The Dark Knight. My chosen essay topic is:
Analyse how visual or sound effects were used to emphasise a theme in the visual or oral text(s). I
need to show how the main themes of showing morality when making decisions and the power
held by the villain are presented in the film through the use of dialogue, camerawork, sound, and
editing. I will refer to the scene when The Joker announces his social experiment and he and Batman
have their final fight, The Ferry Scene, for my specific example. I will also comment on the
director, Christopher Nolans intentions in order to show my personal insight into the film.

and you might want to decide quickly because the people on the other boat might not be so
noble. This is The Joker s way of giving the passengers an ultimatum. Live and kill, or be killed.
His experiment furthers the effect of his actions as an anarchist on the people of Gotham, as the
passengers are left in shock and have to make a life or death decision in such a small amount of
time. The lack of hesitation in his relaxed voice makes it clear to the audience that this was a
well rehearsed and planned announcement. He had organised this and was then ready to begin
to carry out his experiment, in which he expected at least one boat full of people to die as a
result. This showed the power and control he had as Gotham s villain because in just one
statement he was able to terrorise people and leave them with such as difficult decision to make.
All scenarios he had implied to the passengers resulted in at least one ferry being blown up, while
he would remain unaffected by the outcome. As well as creating a feeling of fear and suspense for
the audience, who are watching the scene play out to discover the outcome, it also makes the
viewer question: What is the right and wrong decision to make? What would you do if it was you
in that situation? At the end of the scene,

Overview and Significance of Zimbardo’s Prison Experiment
Overview and Significance of Zimbardo s Prison Experiment Have you ever wondered why
ordinary people do unusual things that seem alien to their natures? Why do good people
sometimes act evil? Who do smart people sometimes do dumb or irrational things? Zimbardo is
one of the most significant social psychologist and all his work aims to find the answers to these
questions. The purpose of this paper is to go into depth on the previous prison experiment, how
it came about, and how the findings play a role in society today. The Life and Times of

What? Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano located near the bay of Naples in Italy (at the convergent
boundary where the African Plate is being subducted beneath the Eurasian Plate), and it is mostly
known for its eruption year 79 A.D. that buried the city Pompeii under a thick layer of volcanic ash.
Although the destruction of the Roman cities Pompeii and Herculaneum is mostly mentioned when

(Cashdollar et al. 1982) A Plinian eruption, also known as a Vesuvian eruption, is an eruption
marked by columns of gas and volcanic ash extending high into the atmosphere, as well as a large
amount of pumice and very continuous gas blast eruptions. A pyroclastic flow is one of the most
dangerous forces released by an erupting volcano. A column of hot gas and ash is thrown into the
air and collapses under its own weight. It then roars down the side of the volcano, obliterating
everything in its path. (Watson 2011) The collapse of the gases in the pyroclastic flow was
divided into several surges, and it is believed that surges 4 and 5 destroyed Pompeii. Pompeii,
along with Herculaneum, was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 meters of ash and pumice.

powerful eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Today, the buried buildings of the ancient city have been
uncovered and have survived to show us in amazing detail what town life was like under Roman

Minors and the Death Penalty
A.Should the death penalty be given to minors? The two groups against this issue, are the
religious and medical groups. They believe they are too young to know what they have done. The
medical groups believe adolescents are less developed than adults and should not be held to the
same standards. . The opposing side, held mostly by state officials, feel if they are old enough to
commit the crimethey, old enough to get the punishment, including death.
B. The very first execution of a minor was in1642 with Thomas Graunger in Plymouth Colony,

showed the case of Stanford v. Kentucky which was for the execution of a minor. The majority in
case acknowledged age as a mitigating factor in death sentencing, but, in an opinion written by
Justice Antonin Scalia, said the national climate didn t rule out the death penalty simply because of
the age of the offender.
G.The Kantian view of death penalty is a retributive view that sees the criminal as a parasite who
has accepted the benefits of a legal system while refusing to pay the price of self restraint. Such a
person owes the law abiding a debt for he has gained an unfair advantage over them. Punishment is
the means of exacting the debt (in kind) and is a demand for justice the restoration of a condition of
equality between the law breaker and society. Just punishment is binding and not to be mitigated by
any utilitarian consideration. Kant also believes in blood guilt and the necessity for cleansing
criminal actions.
H. This issue is pretty touchy to me, because i could support both side of minor being put to

Introduction
The current issue in sport particularly athletics is the use of performance enhancing drugs popularly
known as doping. Spectacular doping cases have risen in the sporting arena that has caused
unexpected situations and annoyed the public who are the fans. People have limited knowledge
regarding doping though it is an ancient time issue. As a result, some people believe that all
professional athletes have always been doped to achieve the standards of good performance and
even compete and win in most of the great tournaments (Anderson, 2013). However, the number of
athletes that have been positively tested has been small and almost non representative thus raising
suspension that only a few athletes are the influence of drugs. This is not therefore enough to make
a generalized conclusion concerning the world of sports.
Overview of doping The high rewards in selective tournaments require that competitors possess
some features such as high level of practice and sacrifice regarding energy and time. Others have
gone to the extremes of using questionable methods and behaviors in pursuit of these rewards and
depending on the sleekness of the fruits; the contestants have gone on to engage in more practices
to get there. Some of these activities are against the organizer s interest, for instance, the use of
steroids and other products to enhance performance by professional athletes

those who love you is both widely unrecognized and unaccepted. When people try to come

them feel worse than they already had been feeling. Society needs to learn that sometime the

The Manufacture Of Teen Space On Cruise Ships
The Manufacture of Teen Space on Cruise Ships: An Environment of Autonomous, Aspirational
Consumption
Cruise ships are cathedrals of consumption in which consumer activity is controlled and encouraged
by the enchanting environment constructed (Ritzer, 7). Through an atmosphere of spectacle and
grandiosity cruise ships entice spending from passengers. This effect continues throughout all areas
of the ship, including space specifically designed for young travelers. Capitalism s construction
of the child as a consumer is reified in these isolated and purified kids only areas. By creating age
specific kidspaces , cruise ship companies effectively encourage the Kids Getting Older Younger
(KGOY) phenomenon and the growing anti adultism mentality, by granting tweens and teens an
effective façade of independence that allows them to enact their power of consumer choice.
Spaces geared for ages 12 17 will be explored on three major cruise lines; Carnival, Disney, and
Royal Caribbean, in order to better understand the effects of these environments on young
consumers. In order to decipher the ways each cruise line hails the youth audience, this essay will
look at the construction of kidspace as well as the language used to describe each environment.
As mentioned above, cruise ships are in fact consumer spaces. These massive ships encompass so
many facets of contemporary capitalist society. Restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, amusement

The House Of Mirth By Edith Wharton Essay
The House of Mirth, written by Edith Wharton, depicts the social system and how it functioned
during the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. Through looking at the social rise and fall of Lily Bart,
the protagonist, one can see how education, gender, and social status determine value and
success. By the evident contrast between upper class and lower class values in the novel, the
theme of performance is illuminated. Each character in the novel is performing Lily, especially
and does so as a way of socially furthering themselves. This is due to the fact that in the novel,
social status determines value; value increases as social status increases. This idea of
performance correlating with social status and personal value aligns with Louis Althusser s
thesis regarding ideology: ideology is determined before birth and is performed. Ideology forms as
soon as one is addressed and responds; Lily responds yes to each person who addresses her, but
each address puts her in a different performance, causing her to be a reciprocal of these
ideologies. Lily faces an internal conflict of which ideology she belongs to: was she pre
determined with an upper class ideology, or lower class ideology? Is she the person who is
addressed by Percy Gryce, or Nettie Struther? This ideological struggle is conveyed most clearly
when she interacts with Lawrence Selden, who challenges her values and beliefs. Two versions of
Lily exist within the novel that perform and speak to each ideology. In Ideology

Chen Hong Xia is a Migrant Workers in China s Growing Economy
Chen Hong Xia is one of the 250 million migrants in China s growing economy. These migrant
workers are the people that supports China s whole economy, without them China will not be
where it is now. Although they are crucial in China s growth, migrant workers are treated with
disrespect. Chen Hong Xia is one of the luckier migrant workers. She was able to work her way
out of poverty into a better future. There are many similarities between Chen Hong Xia and most
migrants in China, but Chen Hong Xia s life is significantly better than most migrants. In this essay
we will be comparing and contrasting Chen Hong Xia s expectations, working environment, living
environment and children to the migrant workers in China.
Like many of the migrant workers in China, Chen Hong Xia wanted a better future in the city
and find a job with good working conditions and high wages. Chen Hong Xia comes from a small
town in Shandong province, she grew up on a farm producing rice and corn. Although there were
many job opportunities in Shan Dong province, all the jobs were agricultural jobs that offered
low pay and required lots of physical activity. In the movie Last Train Home directed by Lixin Fan,
Qin left Sichuan Province and went to Dong Guan city because she wanted more money and be
able to pursue her dreams. Many of China s younger generation of migrant workers are abandoning

Goodall believed that chimpanzees and humans were more closely related then what was believed.
She used the scientific method to complete this experiment. The scientific method has five steps:
observation, induction, deduction, testing, and results. Goodall went to Gombe to observe the
chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Throughout the thirty years Goodall was able to recruit more
volunteers to come and help observe the chimpanzees. By there would be anywhere from 10 to 30
volunteers at a time to get as much information as possible. Goodall induction was that
chimpanzees and humans were similar in multiple ways. This hypothesis was based off of what she
had seen in her early years of observation. Deduction is an if/then statement made from assuming if
the hypothesis was true then this must be true. I could not figure out what Goodall s deduction for
her experiment was. I could imagine that her deduction was something along the lines of: if
chimpanzees are similar to humans in DNA and anatomy then chimpanzees must be similar in
emotional and social behavior. The next step would be testing this if/then statement. Goodall tested
her hypothesis by watching the chimpanzees in their natural environment. Goodall studied how the
chimpanzees acted toward each other, the emotions of the chimpanzees, and how the chimpanzees

1)Misto motivation to write to play was that five decades the Government was silence about the
Women s incarceration and their horrific experiences inside the prison camps. The fact that the
nurses were not recognised for their contributions in WW2, made Misto more frustrated and
motivated to write the play. He wanted to build a memorial to commemorate the works of the

The setting throughout the play runs on two locations, the TV studio and the motel room. The TV
studio is a depersonalised, formal space shown by the On air sign indicating that what is being
heard is being recorded and filmed. The interview makes Bridie and Sheila more cautious of what
they tend reveal to the public as effective stage directions reveals that Sheila feels nervous and
uncomfortable, to share her experiences. On the other hand, the motel generates a different tension
as emotional disclosures take place; where their comments are more acrimonious and hurtful. Misto

Ephesians Literary Analysis
Literary Context can be difficult to understand in Ephesians. The Literary Context of Ephesians
includes the Genre, context of not only the verse itself but also the section of the Ephesians it is
in, how Ephesians is laid out and where the verse fits into the book as a whole. Once a reader is
able to find and understand the parts of Ephesians the ability to go deeper is reached. Searching
for why authors had written what they did throughout history is where most of learning is
accomplished. The Genre of Ephesians is Epistle, or Letter. It is obvious to see that the genre is a
epistle, or letter because it not only says the Letter to the Ephesians but it also has the format of a
letter. (Gaebelein, 19). Paul uses a introduction, and a conclusion in the way that makes it sound

Paul is using images of armor which was something that Ephesians knew what it was and were
able to relate to (Philips, 185). Paul uses various parts of armor as symbolism for how to use
what God has given us to be strong. Paul urges the Ephesians to believe that with these different
tools that people can be strong in the Lord and resist what the devil is tempting with. Within
each verse Paul is showing how Christians are able to stand up against Satan with the tools that
God has equipped us with. (Anders, Ephesians 6:10). Paul is demanding that the Ephesians use
the full armor of God not only the parts that they want to use, but the part as an entirety. (Phillips,
192 193) Paul shows the Ephesians that they have specific uses and applications for each of the
pieces of armor that he describes in verses six through ten (Bruce, 135). He includes the belt,
breastplate, shoes, and shield in his description of the tools that God has prepared us with. Paul is
telling the Ephesians that they are in battle against the enemy but that we should not fear because
God was equipped us with everything that we need. (Wiresbe,

Behavior Modification Final Report
Behavior Modification Final Report
Lose 10 pounds by Exercising 30 Minutes a Day: By the End of Semester
My topic for the Behavior Modification was to lose 10 pounds by exercising at least 30 minutes a
day along with pursuing a healthy diet by the end of the semester. The strategies I incorporated to
support this goal are: phone apps and using the P90X exercise program. The thought of using the
apps, is to see the actual data and to point out unhealthy behaviors. Furthermore, healthy eating and
daily exercise would promote sound body and mind along with restful sleep patterns. I also
included prayer in my everyday workouts asking for the strength and stamina to get through the day.
The P90X program publicizes muscle confusion to affirm the effectiveness of the workouts. This
particular program suggests you take a before and after picture of yourself for motivation, which I
do not feel comfortable with sharing at this time due to the program does suggest you continue the
program for 90 days to see ultimate results. Consequently, I have not gone through the 90 days for I
started in September. I struggled with the program and found I needed to modify many of the
moves due to knee pain. Fortunately, one of the wonderful things about the ... Show more content

have gone down one pant size, and can now fit into my jeans that had been collecting dust. I had
days that were bad days that is for sure, but I put on my big girl pants and moved forward to the
next day. I found if I were to snack throughout the day with healthy option, I was less likely to
make bad choices due to hunger pangs. I will continue to document my exercise and food intake
with a daily journal, maybe even graduate to a phone app that I will actually like! I plan on
sticking to the 90 days of P90X with the before and after picture to share with myself and maybe

Essay about The Chinese Cultural Revolution
The Chinese Cultural Revolution The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, beginning as a
campaign targeted at removing Chairman Mao Zedong s political opponents, was a time when
practically every aspect of Chinese society was in pandemonium. From 1966 through 1969, Mao
encouraged revolutionary committees, including the red guards, to take power from the Chinese
Communist party authorities of the state. The Red Guards, the majority being young adults, rose up
against their teachers, parents, and neighbors. Following Mao and his ideas, The Red Guard s main
goal was to eliminate all remnants of the old culture in China. They were the frontline implementers
who produced havoc, used bloody force, punished supposed counter... Show more content on

The role of Red Guard was mainly to attack the ?four olds? of society, as well as purging all
bourgeois elements within the government. The following excerpt, from an interview between
an ex red guard father and his daughter, explains what the four olds were: ?We were told to
destroy four types of things: 1 ~ anything of the old feudal culture (relics, statues, monuments); 2
~ anything connected to capitalism; 3 ~ anything related to the development of the mind
(libraries, old university buildings, art, classical musical instruments); 4 ~ traditional Confucian
customs, symbols, philosophy and education.? (Interview with Mr. Nie) The Red Guards used
the four olds as a basic guideline on what to attack and not to attack. Another standard, which all
revolutionary efforts were to be judged by, was from Mao?s ideas found in his little red book of
quotations. The little red book was a collection of quotations taken from Mao?s past speeches and
publications. The Red Guards? actions were a reflection of Mao?s policy of revamping passion,
and destroying counter revolutionary symbols. ?They named and renamed street signs and
buildings, and ransacked museums and destroyed old books and works of art. Many famous
buildings like temples and shrines and heritages were destroyed. 4,922 out of a total 6,843 were
destroyed.?

Mobile Phones And The Cell Phone Industry
Introduction The cell phone industry, like the internet, is one of the fastest and ever developing
industries. Since 1994, the production of cell phones has increased from 24 million to 182 million
in wireless phone apparatuses. With 162 million established cell phone users in the United States
the cell phone market is rapidly increasing . This rapid increase is due to the current and ongoing
development of technology and innovation in perfecting the cell phone. Throughout the history of
the cell phone industries collaborations have arose in order to stay lucrative in the fast changing
field. Worldwide wireless companies have been compelled to collaborate. This collaboration is due
to a wide array of reasons that all relate to the firm s attempts to stay lucrative. Wireless companies
have the tendency to acquire market share via both products and accessories. When these
companies merge they can then share their markets and products and offer a superior service.
Without working together smaller wireless companies at times fall victim to what is known as
predation. Therefore, collaboration is necessary within the cell phone industry to maintain profits
and increase assets. One of the ways that cell phone companies maintain profits and increase assets
is through the addition of new and emerging technologies to cell phones. Considering that
computers and the Internet are highly sought after, the wireless companies incorporate access to
fast speed Internet through their

The Impact of Pseudoscience on Consumers Pseudoscience is known by many as false science.
Many consumers are convinced by companies that sells these products provide instant cures that
lead to a healthier lifestyle. These products are scientific theories that have little evidence to back
up their scientific claims. The Internet, health food stores, magazines, and commercials are just a
few ways that companies can target potential consumers to sell their products. Medical information
searched by consumers via the Internet has become the largest source of information worldwide.

While health foods stores attract consumers to purchase health supplements, many manufacturers
use health food stores to promote their bogus products. In March 1999, the FTC filed a complaint
in federal court against the makers of Vitamin O. The company ran false ads claiming the Vitamin O
supplement prevents cancer, heart, and lung disease by adding an extra oxygen supplement to the
bloodstream. With no scientific evidence to prove the benefits of Vitamin O, the two companies
from Washington agreed to a settlement of $375,000 for consumer compensation. The settlement
prohibited the Vitamin O manufacturers from making claims that were unsupported about the
Vitamin O health benefits. Testimonials and endorsements of product represented through previous
experience from members of the public who used the product were also prohibited in the
settlement. In conclusion, marketing agents with false science beliefs have one common goal: To
sell! We as consumers must be aware and informed of unknown supplements that claims to have a
great deal of impact to your life. These products are known for its testimonials by doctors and actors
that make claims of using the product. Pseudoscience supplements have caused serious illnesses
and even death due to consumers lack of knowledge when purchasing these products. It is strongly
recommended that consumers research the companies and the product that advertise false products
very carefully before purchasing a supplement that claims to

Essay on Hamlet and Macbeth Analyzed as Aristotelian...
Aristotle s Poetics is considered the guide to a well written tragedy; his methods have been used
for centuries. Aristotle defines a tragedy as an imitation of an action that is serious, complete, and
of a certain magnitude... in the form of an action, not of narrative; through pity and fear effecting
the proper purgation of these emotions (House, 82). The philosopher believes the plot to be the
most vital aspect of a tragedy, thus all other parts such as character, diction, and thought stem from
the plot. Aristotle affirms, the principle of tragedy the soul, if you like is the plot, and second to

His action is premeditated and is aggravated by his human emotions, ambitions and greed.
Subsequent to the action, the character is a central element in a tragedy. According to Aristotle,
the character must be true to life and natural and is supposed to be a perfect person to whom the
audience can still relate (House, 91). Hamlet is a wealthy prince, however he deals with the
problems similar to the common man. He is confused, paranoid, and angered about the
circumstances surrounding the death of his father. He is also unsure of himself and how he
should handle the situation. His inability to act on his father s extortion has him reluctant to kill
King Claudius. Hamlet s lack of confidence and anxiety is evident at the end of Act 1, Scene 5
when he cries, The time is out of joint. O cursed spite, that I was ever born to set it right (190 191).
The audience can relate to this uncertain feeling and they are able to empathize with Hamlet.
Aristotle also describes the tragic character as a person of a certain kind or quality; that, if part of
the horror is seeing a man broken, it must be a strong man (Whalley, 25). At the onset of the play,
Macbeth is returning from suppressing a revolt against King Duncan in an engagement in which he
fights with great valor. However once his ambitions take over, his strength is diminished. Macbeth is

Quality In Healthcare
Individual Assignment #1
The most important measure of success in any kind of organization is quality. Quality is extremely
crucial in all organizations whether it is within healthcare or not because, it is a symbol that is
representing the main image of an organization. A quality of an organization is based on the facts
that they are always remarkably meeting the expectations of their customers, if not even doing
more. It also means that such organization is always striving to find the unsatisfied areas of the
customers in which to improve. When every organization ensures that it is producing quality

organization should be efficient, which means they should seek to remove waste from the
facilities as soon as possible and the cost of services should be capable to afford. And the sixth
tells us that health care should be equitable, this means to be known for a great quality in a health

What Does Shakespeare Argue About Human Nature

What does Shakespeare argue about human nature? The Tragedy of Hamlet Prince of Denmark by
Shakespeare demonstrates a lot of tension being built up between many characters. It all started
when Hamlet s dad died, and his mom didn t wait to move on. She got remarried to his uncle very
soon after. Hamlet found out he is the one that poisoned and killed his father. Hamlet dealt with a
lot of different feelings and he acted out on some of them which resulted in his father s ghostly
figure to appear. The ghost told Hamlet not to act out revenge. As Hamlet had very strange
behavior, Polonius and Claudius spied on him and watched him reject his love, Ophelia. Hamlet

Showing that it is true that human nature is the core of what this world is about. Being human is
about being honest and Shakespeare emphasizes that not everyone is honest. If people are
honest they are pure and if people are not honest they re not true. But face people as they are.
And as yourself be as pure and true as you can be. This above all: to thine own self be true, And it
must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. (1.3.78 82) Polonius
portrays human nature as a self concern and nothing more. Polonius is always looking for ways
to satisfy the king. Polonius makes his loyalty clear to the king by being faithful and honorable
(2.2.129) Polonius made it known he made Ophelia break the relationship off with Hamlet and he
told her This must not be and that she would need to lock herself from his resort, admit no
messengers, receive no tokens, which done, she took the fruits of my advice. (2.2.141 144)
Polonius gave up his daughter s happiness so he could prove Hamlet s poor behavior to the king.
These characters suggest that humans are always thinking about themselves and how things are
going to affect their lives first before anyone

In the story the Once ler, the Lorax, the Brown Bar ba loots, the Swomee Swans, and the
Humming Fish are all put in a situation known as Pareto Optimality. This exists when economic
resources and output have been allocated in such a way that no one can be made better off
without sacrificing the well being of at least one person (Wisdom, V Pareto). In a situation like
this it is hard for the perspectives, like that of the Once ler and the Lorax, to have a positive
outcome. If their perspectives had been different, say like the golden rule or do no harm
perspectives, things have a much better potential to come out more ideal for everyone. As
discussed in class, both of these philosophical perspectives believe in withholding harm to one s
self and to others. If these were the perspectives taken by the Once ler and the Lorax, both would
be happy, in addition to the Brown Bar ba loots, the Swomee Swans, and the Humming Fish, but
given the Pareto Optimality environment it is almost impossible to make everyone involved
happy, instead there needs to be a more costs benefits perspective taken where things are weighed
out and people pick as a whole what the best usage of resources should be to maximize the outcome
for everyone.

  • 2. Disputed Territory of Israel and Palestine The territory of Israel and Palestine has been disputed since 1947, and the conflict in this region continues to this day. It has become an international conflict as it has spread outside the boundaries of those nations involved, associating other countries such as Syria, Jordan and Egypt with the contentions. Other countries have also become involved, with the aim of generating peace and stability throughout the region, but as of yet, the unrest remains. The recent conflict originally arose after world war two as a result of the UN (United Nations) allowing the division of the Palestine region into Jewish and Arab sectors because of the migration of many Jews into the region, in 1930 alone 230,000 Jews moved into this location to avoid the negative attitudes and actions that were brought about as a result of the Hitler Regime. The Palestinians believe that Israel belongs to them, and that the UN s decision is wrong, whereas the Jews believe that parts of the land belong to them because of the religiously important history related to the location, a movement known as Zionism also encouraged Jews to move to Palestine as they saw it as the natural location to create a Jewish state. One location that was proven in court to religiously belong to the Jews is the Sheik Jarrah neighbourhood, where Jews are now being allowed to settle, with the other parts of the population being forcefully evicted from their homes. One location that is populated by Palestinians is that of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Hamlet Tragedy Analysis Hamlet, despite being an introspective look at grief as well as a cautionary tale of the human condition, is first and foremost a tragedy. The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, by William Shakespeare, is a play written in the early 17th century that follows the Senecan formula: a playwriting method originating in Rome which accentuates points of revenge, honor, the supernatural, suicide, and blood. This formula is evident throughout the play but is fully realized in the character of Hamlet. He is a tragic hero, bound to revenge, goaded by the ghost of his father, who with each decision moves closer to his inevitable death. Hamlet has many observable traits. He is intelligent, emotional, temperamental, and bold but his tragic flaw is that of overthinking. Though Hamlet is driven by instinct to right the wrong done to his father, he does not act as such. He carefully calculates all of his advances against his antagonists and spends a considerable amount of time explaining to the audience what complications certain issues present. O all you host of heaven! O earth! What else? And shall I couple hell? Oh, fie! Hold, hold, my heart, And you, my sinews, grow not instant old, But bear me stiffly up. Remember thee! Ay, thou poor ghost, whiles memory holds a seat In this distracted globe. Remember thee! Yea, from the table of my memory I ll wipe away all trivial fond records, All saws of books, all forms, all pressures past That youth and observation copied there, And thy commandment all alone shall live Within the book and volume of my brain, Unmixed with baser matter. Yes, by heaven! O most pernicious woman! O villain, villain, smiling, damnГЁd villain! My tables! Meet it is I set it down That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain. At least I m sure it may be so in Denmark. (writes) So, uncle, there you are. Now to my word. It is Adieu, adieu. Remember me. I have sworn t. (I.v.94 1130) In Hamlet s long soliloquy he belabors the idea of fate and its unfairness. After stewing over his villainous uncle and mother, he finally commits himself to vengeance by the ghost s suggestion. This action in particular is the one that sets him on the path to his death. Hamlet s tendency to overthink can most notably be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Outlasting the SARS Epidemic Introduction When speaking of epidemics, the memories which come to mind are different for different people; for those who lived in Hong Kong in 2002 2003, images that spring up would almost invariably be of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, the epidemic known to man as SARS in short. Sharing with us the three letter acronym (SAR) which was given to us by our leaders in China, this ordeal has left its mark on our city in more ways than one. It had caused a widespread wave of mysophobia and health consciousness among the Hong Kong people, which outlasted the SARS epidemic but is probably slowly waning. It has also raised the awareness of the government of the importance of the control of infectious diseases, both in the community and in the clinical setting. Most importantly, SARS showed us what works and what needs improving in terms of infection control in the event of a major epidemic. Originally starting in November 2002 in Guangdong Province of China, the SARS coronavirus has since infected as many as 8422 persons worldwide, with a total of 1755 patients infected, among which 300 unfortunately succumbed to this disease. (1) Apart from being a major epidemic in the medical history of Hong Kong and a health threat of global concern, another aspect of SARS worth noting is the occurrence of nosocomial outbreaks. SARS was the cause of nosocomial outbreaks in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore. (2) The impact of nosocomial outbreak in an epidemic such as SARS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The barriers that he faced while creating this album was that maybe the people were not ready to receive the message that he set forth himself. He also put his career at risk by making a such a high political statement by pointing of how the inequalities are being overlooked. Take his song inner city blues were the lyrics are as followed inflation, no chance to increase finance, Bills pile up sky high, send that boy off to die, make me wanna holler, the way they do my life. This speaks on the restraints that money has on us. We need to figure how to live with what we have before our brothers end up dying in a war (Gaye, 1971, track 9). The significance of the lyrics points out the struggle the America were having in their life. The statistics on teenagers and plastic surgery are shocking, but this is not surprising because teens are vulnerable to having issues with poor body image, and this results in feeling like there is no other option other than plastic surgery. They want to look perfect and fit in with society. Teens should not have to turn to operations to physically change their bodies just to fit in with today s beauty standards. High standards of beauty are causing girls to lose out on opportunities because they feel they will be judged for the way they look and this leads to eating disorders, unhealthy diets and overall poor health. In a world surrounded by celebrities and fashion models who look impossibly thin, a message is sent to teens that they must look this way to be socially accepted. This message can lead to unhealthy eating habits and self esteem issues. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In writing this document, Abigail Adams to John Adams, 31 March 1776, the author, Abigail Adams, is trying to illustrate a desperate need for equality.1 As she has the ear and respect of a man well placed to impact the treatment of and protections for women within the realm of the new government, Abigail takes the opportunity to stress the importance of being more generous and favourable to them [women] than your ancestors by taking away a man s legal control over, and ability to be tyrannical towards, their wives.1 She cleverly illustrates the frustrating plight of women by implicitly correlating the vexation over lack of representation that has brought her husband to the Second Continental Congress in the first place and the potential for women to rebel based on their own frustration over lack of representation in society.1,2 The need for equality is not simply the explicitly stated need for equal protections of women within the legislation of a new government, but the longing for equality within the realm of attention and affection is also exhibited within the letter. Abigail begins her letter wishing that her husband would ever write me a [l]etter half as long as I write you and writes in the closing paragraph that she wants to hear much oftener from you than I do. 1 While the main purpose of the letter may not have been to request less one sidedness in the current state of their relationship while her ... Roosevelt, Congress, and the New Deal Prompt: Even though people consider him one of the most powerful executives in US governmental history, FDR had to deal with the other branches of government just like other presidents. How did he disagree with Congress early on in the New Deal? How did he disagree with them late in the New Deal? The founders certainly crafted much of the current form and function (as well as the way it was in the 1930 s and 1940 s) with the idea that no single person or body would have too much power in the government. Having a legislative body that must pass the laws, a President who can push an agenda but not on his own and a judicial body that makes sure that laws pass constitutional muster is essential to prevent unethical (or even tyrannical) events to occur. Certainly, FDR was no tyrant. Like most Presidents, he didn t have a large swath of Congress that was eager to do his legislative bidding like President Barack Obama enjoyed from 2007 to 2010 when he and his fellow Democrats controlled the House, Senate and the Presidency, the latter of those four years being when the Affordable Care Act was passed. FDR certainly was dealt a blow when the opposing party won thirteen governorships, doubled their strength in the House and gained eight new seats in the Senate in 1938 . That seismic shift basically but the kibosh on the New Deal s two major shifts. the first of which happened in 1933 34 and the latter happening in 1935 38 . The majority in case acknowledged age as a mitigating factor in death sentencing, but, in an opinion written by Justice Antonin Scalia, said the national climate didn t rule out the death penalty simply because of the age of the offender. G.The Kantian view of death penalty is a retributive view that sees the criminal as a parasite who has accepted the benefits of a legal system while refusing to pay the price of self restraint. Such a person owes the law abiding a debt for he has gained an unfair advantage over them. Punishment is the means of exacting the debt (in kind) and is a demand for justice the restoration of a condition of equality between the law breaker and society. Just punishment is binding and not to be mitigated by any utilitarian consideration. Kant also believes in blood guilt and the necessity for cleansing criminal actions. H. Spectacular doping cases have risen in the sporting arena that has caused unexpected situations and annoyed the public who are the fans. People have limited knowledge regarding doping though it is an ancient time issue. As a result, some people believe that all professional athletes have always been doped to achieve the standards of good performance and even compete and win in most of the great tournaments (Anderson, 2013). However, the number of athletes that have been positively tested has been small and almost non representative thus raising suspension that only a few athletes are the influence of drugs. This is not therefore enough to make a generalized conclusion concerning the world of sports. Overview of doping The high rewards in selective tournaments require that competitors possess some features such as high level of practice and sacrifice regarding energy and time. Others have gone to the extremes of using questionable methods and behaviors in pursuit of these rewards and depending on the sleekness of the fruits; the contestants have gone on to engage in more practices to get there. However, there is a negative aspect of love that people rarely focus on or recognize. Despite the best intentions, over bearing loved ones can often have a devastating impact on those they worry about. This darker aspect of loveis conveyed by the speaker in the poem Tulips . In society, this feeling of being burdened by those who love you is both widely unrecognized and unaccepted. When people try to come forward about the pain their family members cause them, they are often told that their feelings are unreasonable and nothing is done to fix the situation. These actions discredit people and make them feel worse than they already had been feeling. This effect continues throughout all areas of the ship, including space specifically designed for young travelers. Capitalism s construction of the child as a consumer is reified in these isolated and purified kids only areas. • 34. The House Of Mirth By Edith Wharton Essay The House of Mirth, written by Edith Wharton, depicts the social system and how it functioned during the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. Through looking at the social rise and fall of Lily Bart, the protagonist, one can see how education, gender, and social status determine value and success. By the evident contrast between upper class and lower class values in the novel, the theme of performance is illuminated. Each character in the novel is performing Lily, especially and does so as a way of socially furthering themselves. This is due to the fact that in the novel, social status determines value; value increases as social status increases. This idea of performance correlating with social status and personal value aligns with Louis Althusser s thesis regarding ideology: ideology is determined before birth and is performed. Ideology forms as soon as one is addressed and responds; Lily responds yes to each person who addresses her, but each address puts her in a different performance, causing her to be a reciprocal of these ideologies. Lily faces an internal conflict of which ideology she belongs to: was she pre determined with an upper class ideology, or lower class ideology? Is she the person who is addressed by Percy Gryce, or Nettie Struther? This ideological struggle is conveyed most clearly when she interacts with Lawrence Selden, who challenges her values and beliefs. Two versions of Lily exist within the novel that perform and speak to each ideology. In Ideology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the thirty years Goodall was able to recruit more volunteers to come and help observe the chimpanzees. I could not figure out what Goodall s deduction for her experiment was. I could imagine that her deduction was something along the lines of: if chimpanzees are similar to humans in DNA and anatomy then chimpanzees must be similar in emotional and social behavior. The next step would be testing this if/then statement. Goodall tested her hypothesis by watching the chimpanzees in their natural environment. Aristotle defines a tragedy as an imitation of an action that is serious, complete, and of a certain magnitude... in the form of an action, not of narrative; through pity and fear effecting the proper purgation of these emotions (House, 82). The philosopher believes the plot to be the most vital aspect of a tragedy, thus all other parts such as character, diction, and thought stem from the plot. Subsequent to the action, the character is a central element in a tragedy. According to Aristotle, the character must be true to life and natural and is supposed to be a perfect person to whom the audience can still relate (House, 91). Hamlet is a wealthy prince, however he deals with the problems similar to the common man. He is confused, paranoid, and angered about the circumstances surrounding the death of his father. He is also unsure of himself and how he should handle the situation. His inability to act on his father s extortion has him reluctant to kill King Claudius. Hamlet s lack of confidence and anxiety is evident at the end of Act 1, Scene 5 when he cries, The time is out of joint. O cursed spite, that I was ever born to set it right (190 191). The audience can relate to this uncertain feeling and they are able to empathize with Hamlet. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the story the Once ler, the Lorax, the Brown Bar ba loots, the Swomee Swans, and the Humming Fish are all put in a situation known as Pareto Optimality. This exists when economic resources and output have been allocated in such a way that no one can be made better off without sacrificing the well being of at least one person (Wisdom, V Pareto). In a situation like this it is hard for the perspectives, like that of the Once ler and the Lorax, to have a positive outcome. If their perspectives had been different, say like the golden rule or do no harm perspectives, things have a much better potential to come out more ideal for everyone. As discussed in class, both of these philosophical perspectives believe in withholding harm to one s self and to others. If these were the perspectives taken by the Once ler and the Lorax, both would be happy, in addition to the Brown Bar ba loots, the Swomee Swans, and the Humming Fish, but given the Pareto Optimality environment it is almost impossible to make everyone involved happy, instead there needs to be a more costs benefits perspective taken where things are weighed out and people pick as a whole what the best usage of resources should be to maximize the outcome for everyone. It is because of this pain and confusion that the prisoner wishes to return to the life that he is accustomed to, and the reality he knows, the world of the shadows. We are asked to envision the stubbornness displayed by this prisoner to leave the world of the shadows, a stubbornness which causes him to be dragged into the sunlight. Upon seeing the light of the sun the prisoner is temporarily blinded, unable to see anything around him, blinding him more than when he was a prisoner of the cave. Eventually the prisoner s vision adjusts and he is able to see more clearly. His mind will first be able to recognize the shadows, then moving on to reflections of objects in the water, and lastly the objects themselves. This new sight leads the prisoner to question the colours and objects around him. He questions what it is that causes him to being able to see all the things he can, compared to only seeing poor reflections of objects in the cave. The prisoner eventually concludes that it is the sun which illuminates all around him and is the source of his sight. This now knowledgeable individual remembers the others who are still trapped in the cave ignorant to the wonders which lay outside of it. He considers him self lucky to ... Safe Sex Behavior Paper (is this necessary?): The results from the McEachan et al. study indicate that the standard TPB model has only a minor chance, between 13.8 and 15.3 percent, of predicating safe sex behavior (McEachan 2011). Based on these types of findings, researches have encouraged the inclusion of additional variables to the TPB framework that may help to increase predictability (Conner Armitage, 1998). In research undertaken by Turchik Gidych, six variables were added to extend the model, the first three; past behaviour, anticipated affect and moral norms, have consistently shown to increase predictability when using the TPB, furthermore researchers have argued for their permanent inclusion in the model (Turchik Gidycz, 2012).
