Costs and Transfer Price
Assignment: Analyze the Case and answer the following questions:
Case Background
ZUMWALD AG produced and sold a range of medical diagnostic imaging systems and biomedical
test equipment and instrumentation. Below were some data about the company * Consisted of 6
operating divisions
3 of them were: * Imaging System Division (ISD) sold ultrasound and magnetic imaging system *
Heidelberg Division (Heidelberg) sold high resolution monitors, graphics controllers and display
subsystems 50% served ISD, 50% outside customer * Electronic Component Division (ECD) sold
application specific integrated circuits and subassemblies. It was established as a captive supplier to
other Zumwald divisions but now served ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As its capacity currently was 70%, there was no opportunity cost to be added. Therefore the actual
lower bound Heidelberg could offer was € 50,000. However that price would give zero profit to
Heidelberg. To make the profit positive, Heidelberd could do some markup (eg. 33%). This profit was
beneficial for Heidelberg to cover some fixed cost.
c. The Electronic Components Division?
ECD has been set as internal supplier whose pricing has been standardized to that purpose. with 20%
marked up from Absorption cost.
This was actually the proper transfer pricing for the company in supplying to other division. Item |

d. Zumwald AG?
Since Display Tech was the one who win bidding, from the launching of X73, Zumwald would get
profit only from ISD Division amounting of € 23,500, as describe on the Calculation below

Negative Impact of Tattoos
Tattoos have decorated bodies for centuries. From religious beliefs, to punishment, to adornment,
tattoos have reflected personal stories for each of the bodies it marks. In the modern era, tattoos have
become a form of art in which people use to express their individualities. Although one may consider
marking their bodies as a positive form of self expression, tattoos can have lasting negative effects on
one s physical, social, and professional lives.
Physically, getting a tattoo involves many risks. Even with the technology available in the 21st century
and advances made to improve safety, there are still many medical complications that can result after
one gets a tattoo. Some risks are minor, while some are more serious ... Show more content on

Depending on the person s professional line of work, a tattoo can make or break their career. Some
professions may require attire that exposes more skin than other occupations. The company may want
to ensure that tattoos are able to be covered in order to present that company s particular image. These
factors need to be considered by those people with tattoos that are active in the job market.
When someone is seeking employment, it is important to create a positive first impression. This
impression should convince a prospective employer that his or her appearance is suitable for the
company s image. The first thing the interviewer sees is the candidate s physical appearance.
Unfortunately, if someone has a visible tattoo, he or she is most likely going to be viewed as trashy in
the conservative, professional world (Business Legal Reports, 2005). A survey conducted by Vault
(2007) reveals that 85% of respondents think tattoos impede one s chances of finding a job (Business
Legal Reports, 2007). Similarly, a survey conducted by the Employment Law Alliance (2005) reveals
that 39% of Americans should be able to deny employment based on tattoos (Business Legal Reports,
2005). These survey results clearly show that the negative stigma associated with tattoos can hurt a
person s quest in securing future employment. Because of this negative connotation, most tattooed
persons face an immediate disadvantage the moment they enter a job

Animal Testing And Its Impact On The Environment
Animal Testing
According to the Oxford dictionary, the feeling of suffering is described as the state of undergoing
pain, distress or hardship. But does that definition truly cover all of the grounds under which such
feeling can be experienced? Animal testing involves the use of nonhuman species to research a variety
of products for their positive and negative outcomes. This action is carried on for the benefit of
humanity without the consideration of the animals being involved. Such act features the use of
hazardous practices that harm innocent animals, leaving them psychologically and physically
traumatized. Still, the research is considered practical since it s the closest way scientists can get to
analyze a living body without harming humans. Historically, animals have been used within the
scientific community, and as a result began to press issues regarding what the society of today and its
future hold concerning what is ethical, how animal testing has a significant role on the environment,
and how domestic and foreign economics influence its continuation, modification or elimination in the
United States.
Historical and Political
Animal experimentation can be used to gain further understanding of the biology and anatomy of that
creature or even humans. The notion of animals being able to serve as a model for humans was
supported by Charles Darwin s evolutionary theory in 1859 (Hawkins). Even prior to this theory,
however, surgery on animals became popular in ancient

Populist Analysis
Editorial Reflection The first thing that the author mentions in his article is the populist and nationalist
forces that are active now in many countries. By dictionary definition, Populist is a member of a
political party seeking to represent interests of ordinary people. Nationalist is a person who advocates
political independence for a country. According to the author, these type of people are becoming more
active in more countries than they were years ago. Years ago, countries never focused on how one
handshake could show them more dominance, or they never cared that much about politics. Now that
the world is changing, people are starting to care more, and so there are more forces that are becoming
more active and are getting more

Modern Drama And Modern Criticism
Nothing is harder to bring to life for a modern reader than the theatre of the past, Michael Booth states
in his book, English Melodrama, as an opening to his chapter the character of melodrama . Booth
resumes by saying that to reconstruct extinct theaters, to inhabit them once again with noisy
audiences, and to light them with flickering candles, harsh hissing gas, and soft multi colored pools of
limelight picking out actors long forgotten, acting in old fashioned ways in front of creaking flats and
jerking wings, is to make dead eyes see and dead ears hear. After research on this topic, I realized that
the task is even more difficult when the kind of theatre under discussion is now extinct, and toward
which modern drama and modern criticism is unsympathetic. This is the case with the melodrama of
the nineteenth century, the most popular dramatic form of its age, a form that depended more on
graphic exhilaration and the thrill of the moment qualities almost beyond critical recall than anything
ever written for the stage. Now it is all gone, and I will hopefully through this essay bring some of this
back to life. Yet because of its energy and vividness, something of its nature can be imparted.
Melodrama had never been rated highly by dramatic critics or historians, whose most contemptuous
word is melodramatic. To describe and raise it out of the neglect and contumely where it has generally
remained all this century, to show it so that it can at least be

Dystopia In The Giver
The book The Giver gives the reader the feeling of a dystopia. A dystopia is an imperfect world. The
world is fiction and was a utopia that did not work so well. These following facts explain why. They
have strict rules, they believe in sameness, and they are given a spouse and children. The people in the
community have very strict rules . They have different rules for different jobs that they are given. If
they do not follow the rules they will be released which means that the person is given a shot that kills
them so the rules have STRICT consequences! Some rules are, they can not lie unless permission from

Essay on Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant 1724 1804
Immanuel Kant was born on April 22, 1724 in Konigsberg, East Prussia. He was the son of a saddler.
At age 8, he entered the Collegium Fredericianum, a Latin school, where he remained for 8 1/2 years
and studied the classics. He then entered the University of Konigsberg in 1740 to study philosophy,
mathematics, and physics. The death of his father halted his university career so he became a private
tutor. In 1755, he returned to Konigsburg where he later resumed his studies. In 1756, he received a
degree and was made a lecturer, and in 1770 he became a professor.
Kant felt he had to adhere to a very strict schedule during his years as a professor. He would get up

In 1798, the year following his retirement from the University, Kant published a summary of his
religious views. He died on February 12, 1804.
During his lifetime, Kant produced many writings. Scholars usually divide his literary career into two
periods: the Pre critical period and the Critical period. During the Pre critical period, 1747 to 1781, he
wrote many non fictional works and criticisms. Some of them were quot;Thoughts on the True
Estimation of Living Forces quot;, quot;On Fire quot;, quot;A New Explanation of the First Principles
of Metaphysical Knowledge quot;, and quot;On the Forms and Principles of the Sensible and
Intelligible World quot;. From 1770 to 1780, he mainly worked on preparing quot; The Critique of
Pure Reason quot;.
The Critical period lasted from 1781 to 1794. During this period, he wrote quot; The Critique of Pure
Reason quot; in 1781, and quot;Foundation for the Metaphysics of Ethics quot; in 1785. Following the
critical works, Kant published quot;Critique of Practical Reason quot;, quot;Critique of Judgment
quot;, and quot;Religion within the Limits of Mere Reason quot;.
Three main discussions of Kant are Duty, the Formula of the End, and the Kingdom of Ethics. Kant
feels that we act morally when we do our duty, however it is important to distinguish between acting
according to duty and acting from duty. Acting according to duty is when someone else has imposed
the duty. This is an

What Is The Role Of The Mauryan Empire Change In Central...
The rise of various empires was a result of massive political and cultural changes that happened
throughout central and south Asia. The major empires created due to the changed were the Mauryan
and Seleucia Empire. In addition to various empires being created in central and south Asia, Buddhism
influences many parts of the world and the Silk Road became a vital importance. Alexander paved the
way for one of the largest Empires in South Asia history, the Mauryan empire. (213) Before Alexander
and his forced came to South Asia, the region was comprised of multiple small warring states, until
321 BCE, when they failed. A man by the name of Chandragupta Mori took ideas from Alexander and
created a successful military and took the thrown of the Magadha kingdom. (213) Chandragupta and
the Mauryan did not start out a noble or distinguished family, but with economic strength and military
skills they began to take control over their enemies. (214) The order of the people in the region of

easternmost territorial attainments. (219) Although these towns were once areas for only soldiers, they
eventually became centers of the Hellenistic culture. (219) Many areas such as Ghazni, Kandahar,
Kapisi and Bactra developed characteristics of a Greek polis. The Greek polis is a street of temples

Lessons Learned From My Peers
The first feedback I received from my peers was very crucial into the development in my final essay.
In my draft, I had two short essay. One about how dirt bike riding was important to me, and the other
on how someone who affected me wrongfully but developed me into the person I am today. Out of
five of my peers, they all chose the essay to do with my bullying. My peers thought that the first two
paragraphs on my essay needed to be taken out because it was lot of plot. They wanted me to get
straight to the point like I was in the third paragraph. They wanted me to make a stronger thesis and
install more imagery into the essay. My grammar needed improvement and so did my vocabulary.
They loved when I talked about how this experience shaped me today and how it has helped me a
better person overall. My peers noticed and really liked the fact that I mentioned that I am happy with
myself no matter what someone says about me. My instructor really liked the story of the essay but

I thought this feedback was not helpful at all and very opinionated. I think that my story was very
good and it would look good in the eyes of colleges. One comment that was helpful was that I should
add a specific event. This helped me narrow my essay from a broader topic to a more detailed one.
The feedback I did use was to delete the paragraphs that did not explain the story or were just boring
and just get straight to the point like I did in the last paragraph. I also decided to accept the feedback
on adding a specific event that had in my life and how it really changed me. I accepted the feedback
on adding stronger words as well. I denied the comment or feedback on how I should delete the essay
and start fresh because I thought this story had a lot of potential, which it

Comparing a Dou Vessel to a Zun Vessel Essay
When comparing two relatively similar artistic objects from the same culture, there will invariably be
similarities and differences between the two pieces. This is the case when analyzing a Dou Vessel
from late 5th to early 4th century BCE China as well as a Zun Vessel from 13th century BCE. Both
objects have similar purposes as well as certain aspects of design. However, they differ on other points
of design and are also dramatically different in size. The parallels and distinctions of the two pieces
are reflective of the cultural disparities and different methods of manufacturing during the two eras of
creation. This particular Zun vessel was introduced during the Shang dynasties rule over China. Its
production took place in close ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Zun has intricate images woven through the entire object, including a variety of animal motifs.
This can be interpreted as steps towards bold assertive statements and even baroque ornamentation.
(Thorp, p. 85) There are multiple dragons inscribed on the image, a feature shared with the Dou
Vessel. The use of animals signifies an understanding of the animal form as well as infusing life and
excitement into the pieces. (Lee, p. 47) Both items also benefit from the implementation inlays.
However, the inlay usage on the Zun vessel is black pigment. This is in stark contrast to the gold
pigment inlay used in the Dou Vessel. The gold inlay in the Dou vessel, which has a leaf like
decoration, symbolizes a new design characteristic that was not popular during the creation of the Zun
vessel. (Lee, p. 48) In addition to the distinctions in uses of inlay, the two objects also differ greatly in
size, possibly a reflection of the cultural differences. The Zun vessel has features that almost double
that of the Dou vessel in terms of diameter and height. Unlike the Dou vessel, which contains handles,
the Zun vessels ring base design compels one to carry the object on a shoulder. (Thorp, p. 73) This
could in part be because during the Shang period, many of these pieces like the Zun were used for cult
rituals and activities. (Thorp, p. 61) Drinking was a significant facet of some of these Shang offerings,
which also included offerings in

Gallium, To Most, Is Considered To Be A Very Interesting
Gallium, to most, is considered to be a very interesting metal. It has an incredibly low melting point,
lower than the average temperature of the human body, which means it can melt in one s hands.
However, its boiling point is at a much higher temperature, much higher than one might expect. These
properties, coupled with the fact that one can touch gallium without any side effects, make gallium an
intriguing element, to say the least. On the periodic table, gallium s symbol is Ga and its atomic
number is 31. Gallium is not found naturally, but it is very easy to obtain. Gallium is an incredibly
interesting element, and its history and properties make it so special and interesting. In 1875, a man by
the name of Paul Émile Lecoq de ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While most metals do have very high boiling points, just as gallium does, most metals do not begin to
melt at such a low temperature. This is one of the things that makes gallium so special, because it has
one of the widest ranges between melting and boiling point of any element. Gallium has some
incredibly versatile uses. As mentioned, gallium has a very low melting point, but an incredibly high
boiling point which makes it useful for high temperature thermometers. Very high temperatures would
vaporize a regular thermometer, due to their boiling points being much lower than gallium s. Since
gallium can form alloys with other metals quite easily, it can be used to form alloys that have low
melting points. Gallium arsenide makes a useful silicon substitute in the electronics industry. It can be
used as a doping material for semiconductors. Gallium arsenide can also produce laser light directly
from electricity. In addition, gallium can be used to produce items such as transistors and light
emitting diodes. However, gallium has no known biological role. Elemental gallium is not found in
nature. However, it is often found to be present in trace amounts in minerals such as diaspore,
sphalerite, germanite, bauxite, and coal. Its main source of production is as a byproduct of zinc
refining. It can also be obtained through electrolysis of a solution made of gallium hydroxide and
potassium hydroxide. It has two stable

Essay about Observing a Child with Autism
Observing a Child with Autism
Cody is an eight year old boy diagnosed with autism. Cody tends to perseverant on things that are
dangerous. He often verbalizes glass is dangerous, it cuts your eye, call 211, go to the hospital. Cody
also tends to stare off into space and is socially inappropriate. Cody had been placed in severely
handicapped classrooms that consisted of children with severe cognitive and physical disabilities.
Cody was provided with a one to one aide through BCRC. Currently, Cody is in a new program
designed for children with autism. The student to teacher ratio is two to one. The stimulation in the

At that time, I asked her to think about what she would like Cody to be able to do in a year. She
immediately responded that she and her husband had always hoped that Cody would learn to read. She
reported that previous experiences with his teacher had led them to focus on self help and behavioral
goals. Cody loves to listen to stories. It is used as a reward in the classroom. He prefers to look at a
book over anything else in the classroom. For these reasons, parent interview and classroom
observations, I have chosen to teach Cody pre reading skills.
Operational Definition Due to time constraints, I will focus on teaching Cody to identify the letters
a,b,c,d, and t and to produce the phonological sound. After he has mastered the sound with symbol, I
will focus on blending the sounds to produce consonant vowel consonant words ( cat, bat, at ).
Mastery will consist of 80 % accuracy over seven days. These tasks will be single step. This
information will generalize for Cody because he has a natural love for books. Once he has mastered a
few sounds, he will be able to read a short a book on his own.
Task Analysis Method The task that I chose for Cody is a single step task. A plastic letter is placed in
front of Cody. He picks up the letter, feels it. After feeling the letter he identifies it. After hearing
himself identify the letter, he makes the appropriate hand sign. While feeling the hand sign, he

In general, nurses are responsible for numerous things from dispensing medication to keeping a
watchful eye on the patient s condition. This also includes keeping all paperwork and records up to

times, nurses are even responsible for providing instruction and overseeing the work of aides and

Upon watching the video on the Angola Prison Hospice I became more aware of the importance of the
role of nurses/healthcare professionals in this particular setting. The healthcare professionals and
volunteers of the hospice program play an imperative role in providing not only care in terms of
temporary pain relief or for terminal patients, daily medications, but also care in terms of humanizing
the patients in the prison; not treating them in regards to their crimes, but treating them with the same
morality and thoughtfulness that they would any patient and Roach s 6 C s serves as a foundation to
those behaviors. As a volunteer or healthcare professional in the Angola Prison Hospice I would
implement the use of Roach s 6 C s through my everyday behaviors at work. Roach s first C is
compassion. We are all human beings and regardless of whether one is a patient in a prison hospital or
a patient in a children s hospital, we are naturally inclined to put ourselves in that person s shoes and
relate to their pain. By showing empathy towards my patient and their family, that enables me to build
a rapport with my patient and his/her family and open a line of trust and communication between us.
Relating to my patient and understanding his/her pain and discomfort allows me to place myself in a
position to further express my compassion. I would refrain from judging my patient on the nature of
his/her crimes because I personally, believe in forgiveness.

Why did the English have such difficulties establishing colonies in the Chesapeake?
During the sixteenth century and the start of the seventeenth, the European nations quickly conquered
the newly discovered Americas. England sent out groups to the coast of North America to the

into one, even though they were very different at the start.

such as gold, silver and a cure for syphilis, and anything they thought they could bring back and sell

My Passion For Field Hockey
From coach: I would describe you as a real team player someone who can be counted on to always do
her best, keep her commitments, and to rise to the occasion when needed. You lead by example with
your teammates, and continuously show that it is never too late to try something new, work hard at it,
and have success. You do this all with care for those around you and passion for being your best self. I
know for a fact that you inspire those around you with these qualities. I hope you agree with this
assessment and know how glad we are to have you as part of the Burnaby Bears community.
Tell us about who you are. How would your family, friends, and/or members of your community

why. (maximum 250 words)
Growing up as a shy girl, I stayed away from team sports; however, through joining Moscrop s field
hockey team, I developed skills which helped boost my confidence. As my passion for field hockey
grew, so did my involvement, as I proceeded to join the Burnaby Junior and Women s Leagues. This is
where I learned communication and cooperation within a team dynamic. The determination I found

Evolution Of Database Management Systems
EVOLUTION OF DBMS
1.INTRODUCTION
As technology is rapidly emerging and changing, organizations are quickly adapting to it, and with
this technology and software advancement includes database management systems. Database
management systems have become a crucial tool in every organization. It will be rather more
surprising to see a company not using DBMS in this age. As organizations emerge and grow by years,
they have numerous data sets to handle and database management systems is a software application
which helps organizations perform this mundane task easily. It collects, organizes the databases and
also stores and performs functions on the databases making it easier for users to access. Now days, an
organization wouldn t survive without data and information. The way this data is important for an
organization, to manage this data is equally important. Database management systems has become a
part of every field right from schools, libraries, medical centers, airlines, chemical plants etcetera.
With the effective use of database management systems software in organizations, it comes with
advantages and disadvantages which will be later explained in the findings section of this paper.
The research would concentrate more on how database management system applications have
progressed since the past decade. The research objective is to study the evolution of DBMS and learn
about the emerging alternative applications for this traditional system. The positive and negative
effects

Potential Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Heat Index...
One of the potential drawbacks of heat index method is that, its producing much more underestimated
PET, as the method takes only a single variable (temperature) as Evaporative factor. Because of this
resulting limitation on this method, PET computed by heat Index method is not considered in the
hydrological assessment.
5.6.2 Penman Monteith Method
A consultation of experts and researchers was organized by FAO in 1990, experts recommended the
adoption of the Penman Monteith combination method as a new standard for reference
Evapotranspiration and advised on procedures for calculation of the various parameters. In order to
estimate Potential Evapotranspiration (PET), the standard Penman Monteith method which is
recommended by FAO was applied.

The river discharge method or water balance approach is generally used for estimating AET of large
area like Gilo Alwero sub basin. Most of the empirical equations for the estimation of actual
Evapotranspiration need to use many data, especially meteorological data.
Generally, meteorological stations are placed only at the urban areas and their follow up is uncertain.
In some cases, we need to estimate Evapotranspiration for planning in the large scale; it is rather
difficult to classify land use for individual calculation in each land use. Therefore water balance is
more suitable to understand the flux in a whole sub basin. The inflow and outflows are determined
from stream flow and precipitation measurements and the difference between inflow and outflow over
a relatively long period of time is used to estimate evaporation using the

Analysis Of F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Roaring Twenties
F. Scott Fitzgerald one of the most celebrated writers of all times . (Mini Bio)Through his novels or
short stories, he was able to reveal the secrets of himself that carried out his destiny. The Roaring
Twenties were surrounded by luxurious lifestyles that a small town boy could only dream of.
Fitzgerald recognized this and craved that lifestyle and when he came upon it, he realized it was not
all that he had dreamed it would be, for wealth was not the problem solver.
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born in a family of a failed business man which caused many moves
between Buffalo and Syracuse. (Brucker) After the loss of his father s job, they were left to move back
to St. Paul, Minnesota and live from his mother s inheritance. (bio.com) F Scott Fitzgerald grew as a
very intellectual young boy who published a detective story in his school s newspaper as a teenager.
(bio.com) He was encouraged by his parents, along with educators to continue pursuing a writing
career. His dedication of writing soon harmed him when he was put on academic probation as his
school work was put aside. He then decided to enroll in the military despite his fears of dying without
living his dreams. Upon being commissioned Fitzgerald met a crazed young woman named Zelda,
who represents the basis of the desires of the world. Her greed of wealth, fun, and extravagance soon
took a toll upon F. Scott. He became lazy with his writing and instead of devoting himself to novels,

1870 And 1910 Research Paper
Before the Civil War, during the literary movements of Transcendentalism and Romanticism, many
Americans looked at the world in an optimistic point of view. After the Civil War during the
Reconstruction Era, many changed their outlook from optimistic to a more realistic outlook on life.
The time period between 1870 and 1910 was when the literary movements, Realism and Naturalism in
literature became prominent. Authors like Stephen Crane and Mary Chesnut wrote novels that
followed these movements. These writings helped influence today s writers to write more about
current events and how they affect people. The movements are still relevant today as it can be shown
through the arts of authors like; Jerry Spinelli, Nancy Werlin, and Patricia McCormick.

Greed In Yertle The Turtle
Yertle the Turtle in the book Yertle the Turtle by Dr.Seuss was very greedy. He always wanted more
and more, in this case turtles so he could be the as it states in the book: I m ruler said Yertle, of all that
I see. To see more, he needed something to stack up with, and one resource he had available to stack
up with were turtles. Another reason he was greedy was when he said in the book: My throne shall be
higher! his royal voice thundered, So pile up more turtles! I want bout two hundred! Now, being
greedy is bad because bad things will happen afterwards. As I was watching the video on Yertle the

One is that being greedy will lead to bad things. The second one is that other people have lives as well

king, then that means that sometimes bad decisions can lead to somebody else s good or just plain bad
with it just going away. When Yertle saw the moon and wanted to stack up even higher, I actually
thought he was going to go to outer space and then lift off into the void. The book was very easy to

words rhymed and it made it flow. Thirdly is that the reader, Mrs.Harrits read very fluently, also she

Sala ma Sond pond, cow, mule, house, blueberry bush and a cat. These were stated when it was said in

electric cell energy has grown rapidly and a popular resource of energy. On like most electricity

two major external conditions which are irradiance and temperature, the two factors have a great effect

Video Games, My Father And Mother
I was made who I am by Video Games, My Father and Mother. When I was a lot younger my father

playing an abundance of different games, I mostly played Tekken games and early games in the Ace

games. I didn t, and don t mind though, they were nice to me.
After about a year playing on the PS, Sony released the PS2 (PlayStation Two). I wanted one so bad,
every time I would see one in the store I asked for it until eventually my persistence paid off. My Dad

Comparing Film Trailers of Mission Impossible Two and Gladiator In the essay I will compare and
analyse the two film trailers I have been studying, Mission Impossible 2 and Gladiator . I will analyse
and compare the different techniques used. These techniques are; Use of characters, lighting and
colour, camera shots and angles, sound and music and editing and framing. In doing this I will be able
to show how effective each trailer is in attracting an audience. Film trailers are an important form of
advertising for a film. They should convey the genre of the film and most importantly, include enough
visual information to allow us to recognise what the film s story line is. However, a film ... Show more

Tom Cruise is under strict instructions from this man. Now this has all happened, the audience can

Gladiator , there are lots of good techniques used. To start with, there is a close up of Russel Crowe

It then super imposes back to a camera shot of Crowe walking through a line of slaves. It then fades

Methyl Alcohol Should Be Illegal
Methyl Alcohol is a toxic, colorless, flammable liquid alcohol. CH3OH is the chemical formula for it.
Originally from the distillation of wood but now oxidizing methane. In 1923 German chemists had
figured out how to make a synthetic methyl alcohol called methanol. They put carbon, oxygen, and
hydrogen into an industrial pressure cooker and superheated it to more than 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Methyl Alcohol isn t a poison like cyanide. It didn t make you violently sick then kill you. A lethal
undiluted dose is little as two teaspoons for a child, and a quarter cup for a man. A more average
amount leads to blindness then coma and soon death. Methyl (wood) alcohol is not easily broken
down by the body. The enzymes in human livers struggle with methyl. As a result, the poison lingers

result of the decisions by a government that is supposed to protect us. I understand the situation would

got worse. The sickly patients hallucinated, vomited, and were blinded by the wood alcohol. In

The Founding Of Choson From The Korean Peninsula
In 1392 when Choson replaced Koryo from the Korean peninsula, many differences occurred. Since
Choson was successor of Koryo, Koryo could have been seen similar to its predecessor in a certain
extent, but Choson was a whole new country. Foreign relations, military, society, and religion had all
changed especially the religion. The founding of Choson can be interpreted as a religious revolution
because reform minded Confucian scholars wanted to a change.
In Late Koryo, Buddhism had corrupted so much that even one of their own members wrote to fix a
decadence in their religion. Confucians scholars blamed the Buddhists mismanagement to justify their
action of building a new dynasty . The shift of a state from Buddhism to Neo Confucianism with the
transition from Koryo to Choson is well known, but it needs to be broken down into pieces to observe
the changes that occurred. Religious status of late Koryo, religious status of Choson, and impact of
changes politically and socially must be carefully observed and will be described in more detail below.
Religious Status of Late Koryo
Buddhism was first introduced to Korean peninsula during the Three Kingdoms period by the foreign
monks. By the time of Late Silla, Buddhism had become integral part of the culture and was a state
religion of Koryo. Due to people of Koryo choosing to endow temples in concern of operations of the
temples, Buddhist establishment obtained large landholdings and an accumulated wealth.

The Rise of the Early Churh
The Rise of the Early Church Assessment There are three mysteries in this world that remained
unsolved. One, what happened in the rise of the early church, two what came first the chicken or the
egg, and, three where did the peanut butter and jelly sandwich come from. But no need to worry, for
two of these mysteries will be solved. If the chicken and the egg battle is ever resolved, it will be well

There was once a very lonely sandwich named PB. He was a strong believer in the church. There was
another lonely sandwich named Jelly, she was a strong believer as well. They had never met, but they
both knew that something was missing. They lived in different lands, very far apart. But one night an
angel called to them, telling them to head in each other s direction. So the next day they did. They

they decided to go home, to the church. So for days they walked, all the way to their new home.
They went to the church so they could get married. But they had to do a multitude of tasks. These
tasks had to demonstrate how the church is growing socially. There were four tasks they had to
complete. One they had to demonstrated which socio economic groups it grew, they had to show the
connection to the Jews, they had to demonstrated all the effects of epidemics, and they had to prove

Ryanair used Southwest s innovative business model and have become very successful. Today it

Although pilots and the cabin crew work very hard, they are still underpaid. According to ITF s
survey, EasyJet staff earn better than Ryanair s. In addition to that, the cabin crew are expected to pay
for their own uniforms, airport ID and meals (see appendix 4) as well as training expenses. For
example, it has been reported by ITF that trainee pilots have to pay £60,000 for their own training and
they are not paid salary during this period. They pay this money as they hope it will result in them
earning a high salary after they qualify, but this is not guaranteed. 2.3 Recruitment methods and
Training It seems like Ryanair follows the normal procedure for recruitment (advertising, interviewing
and training the successful candidates) but the documentary which is called Ryanair caught napping

also shows how safety and security checks are inadequate, how dirty the planes are, as well as
exhausted employees who complain about the long working hours. All these resulted in poor
performance and work results. The highlighted service culture problems urgently need to be fixed.
Otherwise it would affect Ryanair s success and effectiveness in the long term. Ryanair needs to

Evaluation Of The Beck s Efforts
The assignment on this week is to calculate the capacity of each machine center and the capacity of
the system. I will analyze where the focus of the Beck s efforts should be if Beck wants to expand
capacity. There will then be a determination of how much extra capacity they can get without causing
another operation to become the bottleneck. I will then make suggestions of ways that Beck can

The focus for this week is to review capacity. In reviewing the information this week, it focuses on

The Board of Education wants to add hours to the school schedule. The problem proposed is American
student test scores are falling behind counties in Europe and Asia. To see how more time in school will

The Importance Of Globalization And Transnational Literatures
Globalization and transnational interconnections between nations economies, the flow of people,
goods, and ideas have sparked a wake of scholarship and ethnographies that seek to record these rapid
changes. Globalization is transforming previously isolated communities into transnational
communities; these interconnections gain the attention of scholars that concentrate on studying the
materialist impact of globalization or immigration in relation to the binary between developed and
developing nations. However, these scholars tend to lose sight of the people caught up in these rapid
changes and due to the lack of non hegemonic narratives the experiences of multiple communities are
disregarded (Chavez 2013 ). For example, researchers tend to be greatly interested in the economic
roles that migrants play in these transnational exchanges, when this is important, it is a misfortune that
researchers neglect to raise awareness on the sociocultural aspects of these communities like their
complex and dynamic identity journeys and identity formations (Simich 2009). Addressing this lack of
concentration on more social aspects of historically underrepresented communities, authors from these

Yf Atlanta Case Study
YEF Atlanta plans to focus most of their efforts first at the colleges surrounding Atlanta Bethel
Church. Four historical African American universities sit only two blocks away from the church. YEF
plans to take advantage of this proximity to the schools, in order to find many young students seeking
God and raise them as leaders of the church.
Last Friday, Pastor Anderson of Atlanta Bethel met with the organization and ministry leaders to
discuss the goals for the whole church community, the Southeastern region and for Georgia from this
year until 2021. It was agree upon that the goal for 2021 should be approximately 3,000 church
leaders in Georgia. YEF will play a substantial role in this growth, because of the group s goal to
educate young leaders. And so, YEF ATL has set up a few short term goals to jumpstart this
development.
At the aforementioned universities close to the church, YEF plans to find three leaders by Easter of
next year. They ll do this by offering individual and group bible studies as ... Show more content on

So this is the most immediate and number one prayer for YEF Atlanta. Through only 3 leaders, YEF
can begin evangelizing and developing clubs on other campuses in Atlanta. Through that growth, YEF
ATL can begin leading the way for YEF in the other states in the Southeastern region. YEF Atlanta can
only do so much, but it is through prayer that God truly works. YEF ATL sincerely and humbly ask
everyone to keep them in your prayers and specifically pray for three great leaders by Easter 2017.
God sees the dim and faltering lights in people s hearts all over the Southeast. They are seeking
something more; they are seeking the truth. As the center of the Bible Belt, both the Atlanta church
and YEF desire to revive the people s relationship with God and become like a beacon of hope, love,
and true peace within the community surrounding the church and to plant many lighthouses

Essay on lumbar disc problems
lumbar disc problems Summary
The lumbar region of the human spine is a location that is very susceptible to injury and trauma. A
majority of the population experience back pain at some time during their life, and although in most
cases the pain subsides after a time of rest, there is an enormous need for treatment of this malady. The
various types of treatment for lumbar disc herniations include a more conservative method of rest,
physical therapy, and anti inflammatory or non steroidal drugs. A more extreme condition would
require surgery to try to alleviate the symptoms. The older, more traditional surgery is a posterior
laminotomy, however, newer less invasive microscopic and endoscopic surgeries been implemented to

These nerves travel to the lower extremities cause a dull ache and sometimes numbness or loss of
strength. The nerve most commonly affected by a disc herniation is the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve
originates between the third sacral(S 3), and fourth lumbar(L 5) vertebrae, is formed in the pelvis and
exits through the greater sciatic foramen towards the gluteal region. It then travels laterally underneath
the piriformis muscle towards the pudendal nerve, then divides travels anteriorly down the leg until it
divides near the knee into the politeal and tibial nerves(Shanahan, 1997).
A term herniated disc is used synonymously with ruptured or prolapsed discs. They describe a
protrusion of the nucleous propulsus through the annulus fibrosus upon the spinal cord. Commonly
herd terms such as a slipped or a bulging disc refer to the disc being close to herniation, but still
remaining intact. In this case, the nucleus propulsus is contained, however, the contortion can still lead
to decreased foraminal space, and sciatic nerve irritation. The symptoms for bulging or slipped discs
are similar to those for a herniated disc, but are usually milder and less intense, thus requiring more
conservative treatments(Shanahan, 1997).
An estimated eighty percent of the population suffers at least one episode of back pain in their life,
and in as many as fifty

LGBT parenting (YAY OR NAY!)
This research paper I provide facts, studies about lesbian parenting, and homosexual parenting being
just as accurate as heterosexual parenting. I also explain how lesbian marriage acceptance is the first
step to a great parenting for a child. A key factor that can help financially, mentally, and socially.
Within our own community acceptance most people are prejudice to those who don t follow the norm.
In this essay I provide facts of pure rejection and overcoming, stories told by those who lived with
LGBT parents, and studies proving that there is no true difference in the parenting and in some cases
the LGBT parent can be better.

For a period of time a lot of other homosexual couples applied for the marriage license but all came to
the same defeat. Even though marriage was prohibited for almost 30 more years after these incidents
Vermont s high court provided the benefits to homosexual couples through the Vermont s civil
program in 2000. Still not recognize as a legal opportunity provided by the state the marital
segregation stopped when Massachusetts offered same sex marriage licenses. Most of the community
didn t like the fact of homosexuality being supported in their homeland. After Massachusetts kindness
and support homosexuals took a hard hit in 2004 when thirteen states banned them from getting
married. The issue pits left against right and, perhaps more significant, odd against young: Americans
over age forty four oppose same sex marriage by a decisive majority, but a plurality of Americans
under age thirty support it. A problem this big on marriage has not come to pass since the states were
at odds over interracial marriage. Not only is it a civil rights issue but there is a wonder if same sex
couple s can raise a child. In the census of 2000, 599,000 same sex couples live together and within
that the estimate of children 166,000. One of the problems is that the child to mostly one of theirs or
only one of them gave birth to it. One of the pros above same sex marriage would reflect on others to

Fountain Hills Research Papers
What is Fountain Hills? What is Fountain Hills, Arizona? Underneath the surface of this quiet town,
there is an interesting history, an abundance of amenities, and a wealth of opportunity for
entertainment and experiences. The land that became Fountain Hills has an interesting past. In the
1930 s, it was the privately owned, P Bar Ranch, and had a vague history. After changing hands
several times, it came into the possession of Robert P. McCulloch. Robert Paxton McCulloch (May 11,
1911 February 25, 1977) was an entrepreneur and industrialist, who graduated from Stanford
University, and had a curious history of his own. He developed the one man operated chainsaw, built
three other communities, purchased the old London Bridge, developed a centrifugal supercharger used
in such iconic cars as the 55 Kaiser Manhattan, 57 Studebaker Golden Hawk, and the 57 Ford
Thunderbird, and built several companies still active today. McCulloch purchased the 45,000 acres of
P Bar Ranch in 1960, and enlisted his friend Charles Wood, Jr. to help him start a community there. ...

activities as well, including multiple Fine Arts Fairs, Oktoberfest, and St Patrick s Day events, during
which they dye The Fountain green. If none of those satisfy, Fort McDowell Casino is less than thirty

Literary Techniques In Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
Things seemed to go back and forth between reality and imagination expect that it was all reality.
Hatchet is an adventure novel which tells the story of thirteen year old Brian Robeson, who finds
himself alone in the wilderness, having to learn how to survive. The only thing Brian is left with is a
hatchet, a present his mother had given to him shortly before his plane departed for Canada. Hatchet
follows Brian along on his journey in the Canadian wilderness, each day discovering more about
himself, and the needs for survival.
The author Gary Paulsen, uses different literary techniques to help the reader grasp a deeper meaning
of the story. Throughout the book, Paulsen explores the use of similes and repetition to bring the
characters and setting of the story to life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using similes to describe whereabouts helps the reader to connect with the story at a deeper and more
meaningful level. Brian s entry into the wilderness occurred when he was put in the position where he
only had one choice, to crash the plane. Then a wild crashing sound, ripping of metal, and the plane
rolled to the right and blew through the trees, out over the water and down, down to slam into the lake,
skip once on water as hard as concrete, water that tore the windshield out and shattered the side
windows, water that drove him back into the seat. (Paulsen, pg. 23). The comparisons made between
Brian s location, and the objects and specific things in our lives, helps the reader to create a better
understanding as readers can relate to their own personal

Giant Squid Research Paper
Architeuthis dux, better known as the giant squid has been around for years. During that time,
scientists studied the predator and photographed the giant creature that lived in the deep waters of the
ocean. Yet, there is an even larger predator. The Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni: The Colossal squid is
longest creature of the deep. It weighs over 1000 pounds, and has shorter tentacles ( Meet 71) Purely
by accident, a colossal squid measuring 14 feet was netted by a fisherman in 2007. Many years prior
to this, a squid measuring 15 meters....and stretched like rubber bands [so] the actual size might have
been smaller (McConvey 50) was given to Rev. Moses Harvey in 1873. Never the less, because of this
captured species, scientists were able to examine the creature and in the process of studying the squid
they hoped to understand how the species survives in it s habitat and depths of the oceans it lives in. ...

The squid s pupils absorbs many times more light than the human pupil. This must be a necessity due
to the depths in which the creature lives (Binns 56). Eric Warrant, from the University of Lund in
Sweden states, Vision is obviously an important sense, since so much investment has been made in the
eyes and the optic lobes (Binns 56). While Nelson and his colleagues studied both a picture and an
actual squid. They mathematically related eye size to vision on the creature (Nilsson et al 1). In 2013,
a study was done regarding the giant and colossal squid s eye size. The researchers

Negative Impact Of Social Media
Social media has given businesses a newfound advantage when it comes to reaching out and touching
the community and expending its brand. As a student at California Baptist University, I am majoring
in Public relations. I have recently learned that in the world of public relations, most businesses and
organizations use social media on a daily basis. With the right amount of research and time being
invested, businesses can see all the benefits that expanding on social media has to offer. The
accessibility of social media platforms for everybody has made it easier for all businesses and
organizations to become more successful. With the rapid change in technology, social media platforms
have been increasingly growing. The use of social media is a more easily accessed and personal way
of communication. It has allowed businesses to create their brand awareness and productively
advertise. Although social media can become a strong asset, it can also negatively effect a business.
We are currently living in the era of technology; every child, student, parent, and employee uses one
or more social media platforms on a daily basis. Some of the most visited and worldwide platforms
being used are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Snapchat. In a recent study done by Pew
Research center their social media fact sheet states, When Pew Research Center began tracking social
media adoption in 2005, just 5% of American adults used at least one of these platforms. By 2011 that

The Scaffold In The Scarlett Letter
A scaffold is essentially a raised platform that is usually made of wood, used to formally and
publically execute criminals, in the same way a guillotine would. The community in which The
Scarlet Letter takes place, when the church is the law, is centered around the scaffold located in the
center of town. Like a stage, it is meant to reveal things and for those revelations to be made into a
public spectacle that all the townspeople are expected to watch. Though it is not used to kill anyone in
the novel, its function serves to exposes sin to the people and punishes those who has committed them.
The Puritans believe that all of them will be judged before the eyes of God when they die, but the
scaffold serves to visualize that judgment and a form of justice as they take matters into their own
hands, regardless of the fact that God will judge them individually whether they are pushed during
their lifetime or not. On three distinct occasions, Pearl, Hester, Dimmesdale, and Chillingworth
convene at the scaffold as Hawthorne uses it to mark the passage of time between the characters lives
and the changes they go through as the scarlet letter effects play out.
The initial event depicted in the beginning of the novel is the unforgettable ... Show more content on

Hawthorne explains, Even the poor baby at Hester s bosom was affected by the same influence, for it
directed its hitherto vacant gaze towards Mr. Dimmesdale, and held up its little arms with a half

to live a life of normality, nor will she grow up with a father figure; however, even at a young age she
expresses an outward connection towards Dimmesdale as if she always knew that he was her father
despite her mother s words: ...my child must seek a heavenly father; she shall never know an earthly

Malala Core Values
Our lives are like a quilt that is made up of blocks of memories, stitched together with love,
dedication, and determination. The memories are what make up the bulk of our lives; they influence
us, and help us shape our values. For someone at such a young age twenty years old to be exact
Malala s quilt is her equivalent to Joseph s biblical coat of colors: it is bursting at the seams with
pigmented hues that make up her experiences. However, not all experiences are pleasant; some of
them are troublesome, distasteful, and overall, they stick with us. Regardless of the type of memory,
they are guaranteed to affect a person s values. But despite everything that has happened to Malala,
she has kept her core values, such as education and family. She has faced many hardships in her life
that would have caused the average person to give up; however she stayed strong and continued to be
who she is.
One of the very first things that a reader picks up from Malala s memoir is how close she is with her
family, specifically her father. From the moment she was born, an unbreakable bond was formed
between the two of them. Malala mentioned that he looked into my eyes after I was born and fell in
love, (Yousafzai 2013, p.14). It s moments such as those that make it clear how the two of them will
forever be inseparable. Even in her younger years, Malala describes how she easily became entrapped
by her father s story telling. One moment Malala recounts from her younger years is

As its capacity currently was 70%, there was no opportunity cost to be added. Therefore the actual lower bound Heidelberg could offer was € 50,000. • 3. Negative Impact of Tattoos Tattoos have decorated bodies for centuries. From religious beliefs, to punishment, to adornment, tattoos have reflected personal stories for each of the bodies it marks. In the modern era, tattoos have become a form of art in which people use to express their individualities. Although one may consider marking their bodies as a positive form of self expression, tattoos can have lasting negative effects on one s physical, social, and professional lives. Physically, getting a tattoo involves many risks. Even with the technology available in the 21st century and advances made to improve safety, there are still many medical complications that can result after one gets a tattoo. Some risks are minor, while some are more serious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Depending on the person s professional line of work, a tattoo can make or break their career. Some professions may require attire that exposes more skin than other occupations. The company may want to ensure that tattoos are able to be covered in order to present that company s particular image. These factors need to be considered by those people with tattoos that are active in the job market. When someone is seeking employment, it is important to create a positive first impression. This impression should convince a prospective employer that his or her appearance is suitable for the company s image. The first thing the interviewer sees is the candidate s physical appearance. Unfortunately, if someone has a visible tattoo, he or she is most likely going to be viewed as trashy in the conservative, professional world (Business Legal Reports, 2005). A survey conducted by Vault (2007) reveals that 85% of respondents think tattoos impede one s chances of finding a job (Business Legal Reports, 2007). Similarly, a survey conducted by the Employment Law Alliance (2005) reveals that 39% of Americans should be able to deny employment based on tattoos (Business Legal Reports, 2005). These survey results clearly show that the negative stigma associated with tattoos can hurt a person s quest in securing future employment. Because of this negative connotation, most tattooed persons face an immediate disadvantage the moment they enter a job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Animal Testing And Its Impact On The Environment Animal Testing According to the Oxford dictionary, the feeling of suffering is described as the state of undergoing pain, distress or hardship. But does that definition truly cover all of the grounds under which such feeling can be experienced? Animal testing involves the use of nonhuman species to research a variety of products for their positive and negative outcomes. This action is carried on for the benefit of humanity without the consideration of the animals being involved. Such act features the use of hazardous practices that harm innocent animals, leaving them psychologically and physically traumatized. Still, the research is considered practical since it s the closest way scientists can get to analyze a living body without harming humans. Historically, animals have been used within the scientific community, and as a result began to press issues regarding what the society of today and its future hold concerning what is ethical, how animal testing has a significant role on the environment, and how domestic and foreign economics influence its continuation, modification or elimination in the United States. Historical and Political Animal experimentation can be used to gain further understanding of the biology and anatomy of that creature or even humans. The notion of animals being able to serve as a model for humans was supported by Charles Darwin s evolutionary theory in 1859 (Hawkins). Even prior to this theory, however, surgery on animals became popular in ancient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By dictionary definition, Populist is a member of a political party seeking to represent interests of ordinary people. Nationalist is a person who advocates political independence for a country. According to the author, these type of people are becoming more active in more countries than they were years ago. Years ago, countries never focused on how one handshake could show them more dominance, or they never cared that much about politics. • 6. Modern Drama And Modern Criticism Nothing is harder to bring to life for a modern reader than the theatre of the past, Michael Booth states in his book, English Melodrama, as an opening to his chapter the character of melodrama . Booth resumes by saying that to reconstruct extinct theaters, to inhabit them once again with noisy audiences, and to light them with flickering candles, harsh hissing gas, and soft multi colored pools of limelight picking out actors long forgotten, acting in old fashioned ways in front of creaking flats and jerking wings, is to make dead eyes see and dead ears hear. After research on this topic, I realized that the task is even more difficult when the kind of theatre under discussion is now extinct, and toward which modern drama and modern criticism is unsympathetic. This is the case with the melodrama of the nineteenth century, the most popular dramatic form of its age, a form that depended more on graphic exhilaration and the thrill of the moment qualities almost beyond critical recall than anything ever written for the stage. Now it is all gone, and I will hopefully through this essay bring some of this back to life. Yet because of its energy and vividness, something of its nature can be imparted. Melodrama had never been rated highly by dramatic critics or historians, whose most contemptuous word is melodramatic. To describe and raise it out of the neglect and contumely where it has generally remained all this century, to show it so that it can at least be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the Pre critical period, 1747 to 1781, he wrote many non fictional works and criticisms. Some of them were quot;Thoughts on the True Estimation of Living Forces quot;, quot;On Fire quot;, quot;A New Explanation of the First Principles of Metaphysical Knowledge quot;, and quot;On the Forms and Principles of the Sensible and Intelligible World quot;. Following the critical works, Kant published quot;Critique of Practical Reason quot;, quot;Critique of Judgment quot;, and quot;Religion within the Limits of Mere Reason quot;. Three main discussions of Kant are Duty, the Formula of the End, and the Kingdom of Ethics. • 11. Comparing a Dou Vessel to a Zun Vessel Essay When comparing two relatively similar artistic objects from the same culture, there will invariably be similarities and differences between the two pieces. This is the case when analyzing a Dou Vessel from late 5th to early 4th century BCE China as well as a Zun Vessel from 13th century BCE. Both objects have similar purposes as well as certain aspects of design. However, they differ on other points of design and are also dramatically different in size. The parallels and distinctions of the two pieces are reflective of the cultural disparities and different methods of manufacturing during the two eras of creation. This particular Zun vessel was introduced during the Shang dynasties rule over China. Its production took place in close ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Zun has intricate images woven through the entire object, including a variety of animal motifs. This can be interpreted as steps towards bold assertive statements and even baroque ornamentation. (Thorp, p. 85) There are multiple dragons inscribed on the image, a feature shared with the Dou Vessel. The use of animals signifies an understanding of the animal form as well as infusing life and excitement into the pieces. (Lee, p. 47) Both items also benefit from the implementation inlays. However, the inlay usage on the Zun vessel is black pigment. This is in stark contrast to the gold pigment inlay used in the Dou Vessel. The gold inlay in the Dou vessel, which has a leaf like decoration, symbolizes a new design characteristic that was not popular during the creation of the Zun vessel. (Lee, p. 48) In addition to the distinctions in uses of inlay, the two objects also differ greatly in size, possibly a reflection of the cultural differences. The Zun vessel has features that almost double that of the Dou vessel in terms of diameter and height. Unlike the Dou vessel, which contains handles, the Zun vessels ring base design compels one to carry the object on a shoulder. (Thorp, p. 73) This could in part be because during the Shang period, many of these pieces like the Zun were used for cult rituals and activities. (Thorp, p. 61) Drinking was a significant facet of some of these Shang offerings, which also included offerings in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Gallium, To Most, Is Considered To Be A Very Interesting Gallium, to most, is considered to be a very interesting metal. It has an incredibly low melting point, lower than the average temperature of the human body, which means it can melt in one s hands. However, its boiling point is at a much higher temperature, much higher than one might expect. These properties, coupled with the fact that one can touch gallium without any side effects, make gallium an intriguing element, to say the least. On the periodic table, gallium s symbol is Ga and its atomic number is 31. Gallium is not found naturally, but it is very easy to obtain. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While most metals do have very high boiling points, just as gallium does, most metals do not begin to melt at such a low temperature. This is one of the things that makes gallium so special, because it has one of the widest ranges between melting and boiling point of any element. Gallium has some incredibly versatile uses. As mentioned, gallium has a very low melting point, but an incredibly high boiling point which makes it useful for high temperature thermometers. Very high temperatures would vaporize a regular thermometer, due to their boiling points being much lower than gallium s. Since gallium can form alloys with other metals quite easily, it can be used to form alloys that have low melting points. Gallium arsenide makes a useful silicon substitute in the electronics industry. It can be used as a doping material for semiconductors. Gallium arsenide can also produce laser light directly from electricity. In addition, gallium can be used to produce items such as transistors and light emitting diodes. However, gallium has no known biological role. Elemental gallium is not found in nature. However, it is often found to be present in trace amounts in minerals such as diaspore, sphalerite, germanite, bauxite, and coal. Its main source of production is as a byproduct of zinc refining. It can also be obtained through electrolysis of a solution made of gallium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide. It has two stable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evolution Of Database Management Systems EVOLUTION OF DBMS 1.INTRODUCTION As technology is rapidly emerging and changing, organizations are quickly adapting to it, and with this technology and software advancement includes database management systems. Database management systems have become a crucial tool in every organization. It will be rather more surprising to see a company not using DBMS in this age. As organizations emerge and grow by years, they have numerous data sets to handle and database management systems is a software application which helps organizations perform this mundane task easily. It collects, organizes the databases and also stores and performs functions on the databases making it easier for users to access. Now days, an organization wouldn t survive without data and information. The way this data is important for an organization, to manage this data is equally important. Database management systems has become a part of every field right from schools, libraries, medical centers, airlines, chemical plants etcetera. With the effective use of database management systems software in organizations, it comes with advantages and disadvantages which will be later explained in the findings section of this paper. The research would concentrate more on how database management system applications have progressed since the past decade. The research objective is to study the evolution of DBMS and learn about the emerging alternative applications for this traditional system. The positive and negative effects ... • 42. The Importance Of Globalization And Transnational Literatures Globalization and transnational interconnections between nations economies, the flow of people, goods, and ideas have sparked a wake of scholarship and ethnographies that seek to record these rapid changes. Globalization is transforming previously isolated communities into transnational communities; these interconnections gain the attention of scholars that concentrate on studying the materialist impact of globalization or immigration in relation to the binary between developed and developing nations. However, these scholars tend to lose sight of the people caught up in these rapid changes and due to the lack of non hegemonic narratives the experiences of multiple communities are disregarded (Chavez 2013 ). For example, researchers tend to be greatly interested in the economic roles that migrants play in these transnational exchanges, when this is important, it is a misfortune that researchers neglect to raise awareness on the sociocultural aspects of these communities like their complex and dynamic identity journeys and identity formations (Simich 2009). Addressing this lack of concentration on more social aspects of historically underrepresented communities, authors from these communities use transnational literature as a tool to communicate their experiences while seeking to generate political consciousness in their audience (Dirlik 2002:355 217). Furthermore, the historian Arif Dirlik merges into conversation the usage of literature to represent transnational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Scaffold In The Scarlett Letter A scaffold is essentially a raised platform that is usually made of wood, used to formally and publically execute criminals, in the same way a guillotine would. The community in which The Scarlet Letter takes place, when the church is the law, is centered around the scaffold located in the center of town. The memories are what make up the bulk of our lives; they influence us, and help us shape our values. For someone at such a young age twenty years old to be exact Malala s quilt is her equivalent to Joseph s biblical coat of colors: it is bursting at the seams with pigmented hues that make up her experiences. However, not all experiences are pleasant; some of them are troublesome, distasteful, and overall, they stick with us. Regardless of the type of memory, they are guaranteed to affect a person s values. But despite everything that has happened to Malala, she has kept her core values, such as education and family. She has faced many hardships in her life that would have caused the average person to give up; however she stayed strong and continued to be who she is. One of the very first things that a reader picks up from Malala s memoir is how close she is with her family, specifically her father. From the moment she was born, an unbreakable bond was formed between the two of them. Malala mentioned that he looked into my eyes after I was born and fell in love, (Yousafzai 2013, p.14).
