The Harsh And Cold War At Valley Forge Analysis
The Harsh and Cold War at Valley Forge
The freezing air is blowing as I lay in bed listening to the soldiers moan struggling to survive in this
harsh war. There are many bitter conditions here at Valley Forge. There is a big risk staying here as we
struggle to stay alive. My hut is filled with smoke and is surrounded by the cold snow. We have huts
that are a few feet long and have a small fireplace on one side and a door on the other. The food here is
horrible and barely keeps us alive. We get a small piece of meat each day and a little bit of cornmeal. I
have decided to re enlist for 3 reasons which are that I need to fight for a cause, to help the sick and
dying army, and to get my family and aging mother into a free country.

The Pros And Cons Of The Indian Removal Act Of 1830
The Indian Removal Act of 1830, championed by President Andrew Jackson, called for the relocation
of numerous native American tribes to lands west of the Mississippi River to land for white settlers.
Although the bill was extremely controversial, it was passed, and entire Indian tribes were forced to
move. Due to the hardship and suffering the Indian Removal Act of 1830 caused Indian peoples, as
well as the fact that it was unnecessary, unconstitutional, and immoral, it should not have been passed.
Firstly, the negative effects of the bill on native Americans far outweighed the benefits it might have
had for second people. Secondly, the bill violated numerous treaties between the U.S. government and
Indian tribes and was thus unconstitutional. Lastly, the bill was immoral due to the fact that Indian
leaders were not allowed a voice in their own future and the inherent racism involved in the decision.
One of the main arguments opponents of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 voiced was that, at its most
basic level, the removal bill was not necessary. The main purpose of the act was to provide more land
for an increasing population of white American citizens; more land, the government believed, would
help expand the American economy. Proponents of the bill, such as President Andrew Jackson (who
ratified the act), claimed that the land occupied by the Indians would be put to better use as part of our
extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and all the improvements which art can devise... .
However, while those who supported the bill used nationalistic attitudes to justify their position, others
found that removing the Indian peoples was not necessary to achieve economic growth. As
Massachusetts Congressman Edward Everett and others emphasized, it was possible for white settlers
to thrive while leaving Cherokee peoples on the land that was rightfully theirs; it was greed, not
necessity, that motivated the people to demand more land. The removal bill should not have been
passed because although the white population benefitted from the removal of the Indians, this benefit
was not worth the hardship the Indians endured as a result. The benefit of white citizens should not
have been prioritized over the well being

Boeing Company Case Study Essay
This is a case about three different companies dedicated to the manufacturing of aircrafts. Those three
major companies are: Boeing, Airbus Industry and McDonnell Douglas; each of one was struggling to
produce enough aircraft to satisfy a seemingly unquenchable need for passenger and freight transport
around the world, developed in this form many kinds of aircrafts in different models and styles.
Airbus is a consortium of European aircraft manufacturers formed in 1970; Boeing Company was
founded in 1916 as the world s largest private commercial aircraft manufacturer in the USA; and
finally McDonnell Douglas, considered the third major manufacturer, began operations since 1920
working essentially for the US government, manufacturing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Nevertheless, MD was in financial disarray in 1990, as a consequence of the strong competition and
rapidly dropping demand for its products; the strong emergence of Airbus squeezed MD s market
share. This was the main reason for which the company in the future decides to make a joint venture
with other companies in order to avoid its financial problems.
MAIN PROBLEM
The main problem at this case is how the Airbus industry is going to continue with its financing if the
government subsidies, from which it survived, were being negotiated away because they were
considered and unfairly competence. Also it is important for the company knows what kind of things
has to do in order to be competitive in pricing and how this new paths are going to impact in the
market and in its competitors.
DATAANALYSIS
By looking at all the data showed by the case we can realize that the worst company in the industry of
aircraft manufacturing was McDonnell Douglas because it confronted serious financial problems since
1980s when Airbus squeezed its market share. In 1984, MD s fleet comprised 28% of aircraft in
service, by 1989 had only 23% of the worldwide fleet, while for example Boeing had 53% in the same
year; in 1990 Boeing had 45% of the market share while Airbus had 34% leaving only 21% of the
market to MD. The strongest company was Boeing which cover about 70% of worldwide demand,
nevertheless the Airbus Industry was

Explain Anslem s Ontological Argument
730012506 PHIL 134H Paper # 1 Anselm s Ontological Argument Eleventh century French monk,
Anslem of Catenbury, offered a deductive argument proving the existence of God. In order to truly
grasp the argument, we must first attempt to understand the philosopher and his own ideologies.
Anslem preludes his proof by stating his profound faith in God, consequently affirming that it is only
through God s enlightening that his understanding can reach as high as God. He also adds that he who
says in his heart that there is no God is a fool, per the Bible. Anslem s argument is based greatly on
what he understands to be the nature of God s being that than which nothing greater can be conceived.
The deductive argument simply put goes as follows: 1. God is the greatest thing we can think of. 2.
Things can exist only in our imaginations, or they can also exist is reality. 3. Things that exist in
reality are always better than things that exist only in our imaginations. 4. If God existed only in our
imaginations, he wouldn t be the greatest things that we can think of because God in reality would be
better. Therefore, God must exist in reality. Although the logic in Anslem s appears to be flawless, the
proof s rate of converting non believers into believers is very low if not zero. Even those who are
believers aren t convinced by the proof, as in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We know the statement all plants are edible is false, so the rest of the argument, no matter how logical,
cannot be true. Anslem gets his inspiration to define God from his faith and sets it as the absolute
truth; however, since faith is not a valid philosophical argument, it fails. Anslem jumps from
hypothesis to theory without any proof. Additionally, the greatest is extremely vague, such so that he
is able to later accommodate the definition in his reply to the counter argument proposed, which some

Year-Round Schooling Benefits
A 3 month summer vacation may sound great, but in reality it doesn t live up to the hype. Ironically,
students are given this large vacation time, but it forces working parents to take time off when they
have no other available supervision resources. Often times, they even have to come out of pocket
every month, or commonly even every week, just to put their children in safe programs, camps, and
clubs. Although when thinking of summer break, you generally foresee younger kids who cannot
watch themselves. This doesn t necessarily apply to teenagers, but year round schooling is balanced
wisely and offers more breaks periodically, which arguably benefits everything; benefits toward all
sides of the spectrum, moreover from Financials, parental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, teachers who work in year round schools report that they believe it is a positive
experience for them and their students. Also, they ve reported that they receive a break when they
utmost need it. However, as to this, year round schools have lower staff turnover rates , and allows
teachers to obtain the workdays needed during grading periods. Markedly, students, even parents, have
positive outlooks on year round schooling by reason of the frequent breaks, giving them time to
rejuvenate and be prepared when they return back to school. Remediation is especially significant
when it comes to children retaining knowledge. Year round schooling allows for remediation to occur
periodically over the course of a school year, rather than just 3 months of summer break, which in
reality most kids aren t doing anything school related. For example, that 45 15 day schedule that year
round follows, allows teachers to offer mini summer school classes for students who ve been
struggling, which helps them get caught up by the end of a condensed break and ready to get back on
track once school starts up again. Ultimately, this is why most students who attend a year round school
perform higher academically. Also, many schools who practice this schedule, offer enrichment
programs during on and off time periods throughout the year to help children to remediate on

Exercise At Your Body Weight
I always like to exercise to maintain my body weight because it helps me to get an energy and I feel
very light like a feather. Also, it helps me to make new friends because my friend and I can motivate
each other and share experience. However, I have a problem to maintain my normal weight which is
overeating. I always overeat more because I usually eat ice cream, pudding for desserts after the meal.
Therefore, I want to learn how to stop overeating at every meal to maintain my weight and avoid
desserts as soon as possible. Furthermore, I want to get into my normal routine schedule again, so that
I can manage the diet and change my clothing style to look skinny and maintain muscles in my body. I
want to stop overeating because overeating behavior affect my lifestyle. I cannot focus on my duties
such as finishing homework, cleaning my room, and doing the laundry because I do not want to deal
with these right away. Furthermore, I gained my weight a lot for due to my overeating behavior so that
some of my clothes were small so I want to change this behavior to change my style of clothing as
well. Therefore, I want to learn how to manage my calories so that I will balance my diet in more
productive and smart ways. Also, I want to change my overeating habit because this habit interrupts
my exercise. I usually go to gym three times every week except for weekends, because I have classes
in three days per week now. However, I could not go to gym more often these days

The Jim Crow Era
For as long as humanity has existed, equality has been an evident, non disappearing struggle for
individuals all around the world. This is relevant in terms of gender, nationality, and race, especially
including the differences in skin color. The Jim Crow Era, which occurred during the nineteenth and
twentieth centuries, can be depicted as one of the worst time periods in terms of equality. After the
American Civil War, most of the American southern states have passed several laws that denied the
rights of African American citizens, which have been the target of discrimination for reasons none
other than things that they can not control in their lives, such as their race, skin color, wealth, and
origin. When people speak of Jim Crow, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, since the Black community had no rights, it is crucial to understand that citizens did not have
any freedom of speech in their daily lives. If they did speak up against the norms of society during the
Jim Crow Era, there ultimately were consequences that could lead to their deaths. The Klu Klux Klan,
often referred to as the KKK, is the most infamous of the groups dedicated to discrimination of
African Americans. The goal of the Klu Klux Klan was to restore and maintain white supremacy in the
South during the Jim Crow Era. Their actions included riots and violently attacking black citizens at
night. Despite their restrictions on freedom of speech, several individuals have rose to the occasion to
make attempts on improving the rights of African Americans during the Jim Crow Era. These
individuals include Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and Malcolm X. The Black community
had suffered roughly for many years due to the segregation and discrimination during the Jim Crow
Era, and has shaped the society today, however, there is still discrimination to this

Staying Healthy In Middle Adulthood
Middle adulthood is a time of both gains and losses. The span of middle adulthood is from forty to
sixty years of age, it can be defined as chronologically, contextually, or biologically. Most middle age
people are in good physical, cognitive, and emotional condition. Staying healthy is very important or
middle age adults. Eating healthy is also a very important factor. I think vitamins are good for the
body; they are great supplements that make up for all the protein the body is not receiving. As the
body age blood pressure starts to rise and chances are increased for having a stroke or a heart attack.
Eating fruits and vegetables helps decrease these chances. Eating broccoli, baked potatoes, bananas,
and other foods with skin is a great

Stolen Voice Of Democracy
The Stolen Voice of a Democracy
The famous French writer, philosopher, and historian Voltaire once said, I do not agree with what you
have to say, but I ll defend to the death your right to say it. Many citizens in the Democratic Republic
of Congo feel that their right as a citizen to freedom of speech is being suppressed. Many citizens are
being harassed for thinking differently than the government. The lack of freedom of speech in the
Democratic Republic of Congo is a serious violation of citizen s rights. First, the government harasses

How Important Is The Us Economy In The 1920 s
Our Nation s Economy
Every successful country needs a successful economical system. If a country s economy is big,
wealthy, and powerful, that country is set, at least for the time being. The United States and its
massive budget are a great example. The U.S. economy is a very capitalistic, risky, and stressful
endeavor.
This great nation s economy is powered by the almighty power of capitalism. We are number one
when it comes to the size and importance of our budget (US Economy). Ipso Facto during the United
States prime, many countries wanted to emulate the United States due to their extraordinary financial
standing compared to the rest of the World (McBride). This want to push towards United States levels
of success has caused many countries to shift to a more capitalistic way of thinking. Capitalism is a
system in which goods and services are offered on the free market, with buyers and sellers coming
together to determine the price of those goods and services (US Economy). During the 1920 s, the

It can all go downhill very easily. Due to the nature of capitalism and the free market, when
unemployment rises, spending buyers grow sparse (US Economy). Sellers absolutely depend on
consumers to buy their products and services. If the public doesn t have any money to spend, they,
quite simply, don t spend. For example, just six years removed from the greatest financial cataclysm
since the Great Depression, the US continues... down the same perilous economic path (McBride).
The crisis referred to in the quote was the meltdown of 2009, a seismic and nearly deafening blow
towards American consumerism. Many more people as of this event are either in debt, poor, homeless,
or a combination of these factors. The worst part is if the United States government, at least according
to Jonathan Kirshner, had reformed the economic sector, we could ve avoided this setback and stopped
our downward spiral

Comparison Of Mcdonald s V. Stella Liebeck Case
The details in the McDonald s v. Stella Liebeck case are very similar to the details of the case in Class
Action. However, the legal knowledge surrounding the cases were different. For example, in Class
Action the company Argo knowingly put out a defective car because it was more financially
convenient to pay for settlements than it would have been to recall every single vehicle and fix them.
Similarly, McDonald s was aware that their coffee was held at very hot temperature standards that
were extremely dangerous to their unknowing customers. McDonald s argued on the basis that
consumers preferred hot coffee so it was good for profit (Haltom, McCann 2004). A McDonald s
safety consultant testified that they received 700 complaints of burns ... Show more content on

Additionally, one of the plaintiff s had family members die because of the defective car. They both had
reasonable claims to sue so they both filed a lawsuit against two powerful corporations.
There were differences in the way the case and the prosecution and defendants lawyers were portrayed
in the film and in the McDonald s vs. Liebeck case. Stella Liebeck s case was portrayed as acquisitive
and soon was manipulated to represent the flaws in the civil justice system. The media reconstructed
her case into fragmented bits and transformed it to symbolize the lawsuit crisis (Haltom, McCann
2004). The media left out a great amount of crucial information and evidence that was critical to the
decision making of the jury (Haltom, McCann 2004). In fact, mass media stressed the amount of
money Liebeck was awarded by the jury, and failed to mention that Liebeck actually received less
than 1/5th of what the jury mandated (Haltom, McCann 2004). They also failed to mention the
severity of Liebeck s burns and the extreme heat of the coffee as well as McDonald s complete
disregard for consumer safety (Haltom, McCann 2004). Most general knowledge surrounding the case
is false and in favor of McDonald s perspective.
In Class Action, the plaintiff s attorney was depicted as a civil rights attorney whose main focus was
not to make money. Rather, he was more interested in attacking the establishment and defending
victims who were

Neville s Use Of Cannibalism In Dracula
The lack of preys makes them attack others of their own, hence making a regular threat of
cannibalism. As it previously mentioned, Neville believes that the bacteria originated during the war.
According to Clasen, this belief is a projection of human anxieties; within this context, it is a
reflection of the fear of nuclear and biological war and their consequences, in idea portrayed in the
novel with one of the flashbacks the protagonist has, in which Neville and his wife contemplate the
idea by which the bombings of the war and vampires are related somehow. One of the main concepts
present in the novel is the sexual frustration of the protagonist. He is agitated at night, when the
vampires attack his house, by the female vampires standing outside his house, who are posing and
thus trying to seduce him to take him out of the house, Neville is as tempted as horrified by the bodies

his desperate efforts and the huge amount of time spent to befriend with the dog, in such a desperate
way the he leaves apart his research for that purpose. He feels so isolated that when he finds another
survivor, he thinks it is a product of his mind, a hallucination. This lack of companionship and
socialization is reflected as well in the living vampires of the novel, who at first apparently do not talk
to each other, and the undead vampires that do not even have the ability to speak. The paradox of his
isolation is that he is not actually alone. Yet the vampires in the novel

Lab Report On Insulin
Introduction
Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by the β cells of the pancreas. It is secreted in response to
glucose and secretion occurs in a biphasic pattern. Insulin testing is commonly indicated in the
investigation of insulinomas, hypoglycaemia, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, as well as a

The Battle Of Saint Mihiel
World War I Marc A. Lungo, Adam W. Delano, Christopher J. Snyder Air Defense Artillery Advanced
Leaders Course World War I The battle of Saint Mihiel was a pivotal point in the many conflicts the
United States was involved in during World War I. In this essay, the role of the Non Commissioned
Officers, along with the invention of the 3 Inch M1918 Anti Air Gun, is shown to be an incredible
advantage for the United States. The need for a weapon that is mobile, as well as perform a much
needed defensive service, presented the opportunity to create the 3 Inch M1918 Anti Aircraft Gun. The
3 Inch M1918 AA gun is a derivative of the 3 Inch M1898 that is too large to be feasibly mobile
(Ordnance, T.O, 1920). While this gun cannot be fired while being towed behind a vehicle, it is
transportable enough to move to an area that needs protection from the ever growing aircraft attack
threat. This variation has a design of a smaller breach that fired a cartridge of 76.2x585R, allowing a

Analysis Of The Poem The Old Testament
One of the most interesting details of this picture is its shape. Most pieces that we see are rectangular
or square. This piece is circular. Not only that, but there are also words around the border of the scene.
After my first look at this picture, I think that there is a strong feminist undertone here. A woman is
the main focal point, and not only that but she is also about to kill a man. She is exuding power. This
scene is reminiscent of a biblical story in the Old Testament where a woman drives a stake through a
man s head during wartime.
Descriptive Analysis One of the first elements of this piece was the contrast. The piece was done in
black and white so there are mainly just highlights and shadows. Highlighted the most is what I ...

So here we have a woman who has all the power in this situation. She is holding a hammer to the head
of this man who we can see is very strong, and he cannot stop her. To create the contrast in this scene,
the artist relied heavily on the use of lines. There is a boundary line that encompasses the entire
picture. The fact that the boundary line of this piece is in a circle makes the scene feels as if it holds
some sort of significance. There is a type of painting the tondo where the artist creates his/her piece
with a circular boundary line. This style of art was very popular in Italy during the Renaissance and
was usually used to convey religious ideas. This evidence would support the idea that this scene
depicts a biblical story from the Old Testament. The artist also uses the method of hatching and cross
hatching to give a sense of depth. The use of hatching is very heavily defined on the curtains around
the backside of the tent. Cross hatching is used to define a shadow on the left side of the curtain. This
effect makes it feel as though this area of the tent is farther away from the viewer s vantage point. The
artist also uses hatching on the two main subjects to define their bodies even under their clothes. This
method helps the artist contribute to the effect of contrast. Areas where there is little to no hatching
seem lighter and thus closer to the viewer.

Country Club Vs City Club Analysis
Country Club Positions and City Club Positions
A Country Club and a City Club are both very prestigious and elite clubs that are exclusive to the
members of the particular club. Both clubs are equipped with food and beverage services and with
specific amenities and services to meet the needs of their members. These clubs are also similar in that
they are not available to the general public but only to the members that pay for their services. Their
membership dues are likely costly, which usually gives them the entitlement to expect and in some
cases demand a higher level of product and service to meet their needs.
Clubs that provide a higher standard of service creates a need for a more experienced staff that
understands and can deliver products and services. These clubs do have a few similar positions in

How Is Kate Presented In Taming Of The Shrew
In The play Taming of the Shrew and 10 things I hate about you Katherine is thought of as a disgrace

Understanding The Consciousness Of The People Of London At...
Tracking the culture of a society has always proven to be a challenge. Historians and archeologists
may study artifacts, books, poetry, among other cultural legacies in an attempt to understand the
beliefs and lives of previous generations. However, this has a certain level of inaccuracy towards the
beliefs of the average person in that society. To speak to that point, I wish to introduce Gilbert and
Sullivan. Gilbert and Sullivan were a pair of opera writers operating in England between 1871 and
1896. Their operas were so immensely popular with the British public that the world s first building lit
entire by lightbulbs, the Savoy Theater, was built for the purpose of housing the premiers of their
operas. It is through this immense popularity with the common people that we can begin to understand
the consciousness of the people of London at the time. In this case, Gilbert and Sullivan s opera,
Utopia Limited, can provide us with a clear picture of the Victorian view on a woman s place in
sports, and information on their beliefs on sports in general.
Sports throughout the Victorian age can be used as a telescope to examine a wide range of issues.
Whether it s the role of women, thoughts on prudery, or a manifestation of romanticism within society,
there is much to learn from sports. This is why Gilbert and Sullivan s second to last Opera, Utopia
Limited, should pique the interest of any sports historian. Throughout Utopia Limited, W.S. Gilbert
outlines the characteristics

Amino Acids Affecting Chicken s Proteins
Before the body can use the chicken s protein to build and repair tissues, the large molecules of
protein are converted into the smaller molecules amino acids through digestion via enzymes. Amino
acids are absorbed into the bloodstream from the absorptive lining of the small intestine and
transported throughout your body. The carbohydrates of the rice are broken down, by the enzymes
lactase and maltase into the sugars fructose and glucose, and also absorbed by the small intestine
lining. Once the amino acids and sugars have been absorbed by the mucosa of the small intestine, they
are passed on into tiny blood vessels, which lead to the Hepatic Portal Vein. Water and water soluble
vitamins (vitamins B, B6, B12, C) are also absorbed at this time along with the carbohydrates and
proteins. The Hepatic Portal Vein then transports these nutrients to the liver. ... Show more content on

Then the enzyme lipase goes into action breaking down these fat molecules into fatty acids and

lipoproteins. The micelles also pick up and combine with fat soluble vitamins (Vitamins A) at this
time. These lipoproteins are then transported into the nearest lymphatic vessel via the thoracic duct,

Summary Of Orientalism And The Clash Of Civilization
The way in which Said and Huntington define culture within their texts Orientalism and The Clash of
Civilisation, divulges each author s position within and perception of both the Arab and Western
Worlds. The difference in each author s ideology and contexts Said (a professor in comparative lit with
a Palestinian background, writing in 1978, a time of conflict and devastation in the middle east) and
Huntington, (an American political scientist writing at a time in which his country is at a height of its
power), causes what is described by Said as The clash of definitions (SD). Said views culture as a
culmination and product of ideologies, morals and beliefs propagated by members of society.
Huntington views culture as more definite, established and finite. Said defines a specific culture in
relation to others whist Huntington believes each culture is its own separate entity. Through the
exploration of these contrasting views it can be interpreted that a key difference between each
definition is that Said defines culture as more broad and capable of being influenced whilst
Huntington views it only as a powerful influencer. This may also reflect their positions as either from
the West or the Orient.
Whilst Huntington defines culture as basic and less mutable , Said acknowledges culture as a complex
matter . He defines culture as a product of society and its values and refers to Gramsci s theories of
consent and cultural hegemony to support this definition. Gramsci s

Presentation of self outline Essay
Critical appreciation: Erving Goffman; The presentation of self in everyday life.
Erving Goffman was one of the most important Sociologists in the 20th century who focussed his
study on aspects of social life. It is often argued that Goffman was one of the twentieth century s most
remarkable practitioners of social science (Smith, 2006:1). He was born on the 11th June 1922 in
Alberta, Canada. His parents were Jewish and part of the group of Ukrainians who moved to Canada
before the beginning of the First World War. Initially Goffman studied Chemistry before moving to the
University of Toronto to study Anthropology and Sociology where he gained an understanding in

He also implies how an individual will be focussed on making a favourable show of him (a good
impression) which gives another explanation to why humans can be seen as actors in situations of
social interaction, they act how they think the audience (observers) want them to act. To summarise
his chapter on presentation Goffman s primary assumption is that individuals differ not by their
specific qualities, but by the situations they find themselves in to which they adopt different roles to
perform for the observer .
For this work Goffman gained inspiration from his own personal experiences, as his wife struggled
with mental illness and he chose to travel to the Shetland Islands to study the interaction in their
society. His wife s illness may have shaped his argument as another key piece of his work was
Asylums where he carried out fieldwork in a hospital where he wished to look at the social world of
an inmate. In his findings he was very critical and stated how behaviour that was deemed out of the
ordinary was simply someone not conforming to the rules and expectations of society. If those rules or
norms/values are broken that person would be viewed as an outsider and therefore displays an
inability to play the role of an actor .
A key theorist behind his work is Herbert Mead who published a book Mind, Self and Society and he

Prescribed Pasture Burning
Fire! Most people are alarmed with that word. But fire is a major factor in allowing the grasslands to
exist. Native Americans used to burn prairies to get rid of all of the dead grass and allow the new grass
to grow for the bison to eat. Burning off grasslands in the spring permits the grass to grow without
being restricted by the old, dead grass. Fire also kills the parasites and flies that bother the cattle in the
summer. Invasive cedar trees overtake grasses and starve out good native grasses. Other methods can
be used to combat them but fire is the quickest and most efficient. While pasture burning may seem
harmful to some, it s an essential way to keep our grasslands and prairies in working order. Native
Americans used fire to

Our government enforces prescribed burning on land enrolled in Conservation Reserve Program
(CRP). Landowners who participated in this program are required to burn this native grass at least
once every three years.
Grass needs to be burned fairly often by humans or nature may take its course and possibly get out of
control and be disastrous. For example, consider the recent wildfires in California and Colorado.
These areas were devastated by fire because nature was left unchecked. Trees and brush growth were
allowed to grow at will, providing a perfect tinderbox. Many lives were lost. Homes were destroyed
and wildlife died. These areas would have benefitted

Use Of Discourse And Social Media Within The Arab Spring
Throughout the years there have been many Occupy Movements; Occupy Wall Street, Occupy Central
in Hong Kong and Occupy Nigeria are just a few that were inspired by the Arab Spring. Looking at
the Arab Spring in terms of ideas of power is a useful framework because it enables us to gain
information which could be useful for future occupy movements as well as giving us a different
interpretation to that of the social norm. We will then be able to connect that newly analysed idea of
power with obedience and disobedience within the Arab Spring.
Power is often seen as being held by those in authority positions such as Presidents, prime ministers
and military officials. We are able to reflect on this traditional notion of power and connect it with the
power at play in the Arab Spring, and thus gain an in depth look into the idea of discourse and social
media within the Arab Spring. Through the post structural theory and prominent thinkers such as
Hobbes and Foucault we are able to look at the Arab Spring in a broad sense, looking at ideas such as
the Ripple Effect which other theories may not enable us to look at. Also introduced will be the
perspective of Max Weber s structuralist theory, this stark contrast of post structuralism will further
solidify the idea that looking at the Arab Spring with the post structural theory is a useful framework.
The idea of Occupy movements and ideas of power is not confined to a particular political or
economic form of government (The Subject

Symptoms And Treatment Of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever
Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever is caused by a virus found in the family of filoviridae, in genus known as
ebolavirus. There are currently four known Ebola virus strands that are deadly to humans. The virus is
transmitted through bodily fluids so it can be transferred via mucosal surfaces or abrasions on the skin
when being in direct contact to an infected person. It is highly pathogenic and causes death in approx.
50 90% of all known cases. This laboratory and numerous experiments has shown that antigen X1
should be used with adjuvant x2 as together they stimulate the appropriate immune response against
Ebola and could be a viable cure for the company. Introduction: When a viral infection happens within
an organism, there are two main types of immune responses. The first, is the innate immune response
which involves different resistance mechanisms to determine and respond to an unspecified pathogen.
Innate immunity in relation to viruses requires cytokines and NK cells to destroy the pathogen. Viral
infection in cells promote the production of a specific type of cytokines known as interferon and they
interfere with viral replication in the host cells. Interferon can be split down into three main
molecules: interferon , interferon  and interferon . Interferon   are the main molecules in viral
infection. Interferon also activate natural killer cells in order for them to destroy virus infected cells
and allow the release of cytokines. The adaptive immune response also

The Merriam-Webster Definition Of Cosmogony
The Merriam Webster definition of cosmogony is: a theory of the origin of the universe. Now this
seems simple. As long as there have been humans on Earth we have looked back to find some
meaning to our existence. The simple fact is that we are a forever curious species, and we are driven
by a need to understand the world around us. However, for most of our history, we have lacked the
means of observing enough of space to truly understand our origins, so we created gods to explain
things we couldn t understand. As our understanding of the universe changed, so, too, did these gods.
The Enlightenment in the Modern era was the first time that God was brought into question. The
Church had too much power, people wanted freedom, and religion was

Bananas, Chiquita, and Globalization
Bananas, Chiquita and Globalization
While globalization is a relatively new phenomenon in theory, but not necessarily in history, as of
2009 it has created transnational corporations linked to government, international economic
institutions, and non government organizations. (Steger 67). With this definition bananas are a
textbook example of the globalization of tropical fruit commodities. The transnational corporations of
the United States, most notably Chiquita, Dole and Del Monte, have been linked to the governments
of Latin and South America, the World Trade Organization, and the organic fruit movement. By
tracing the path from banana plantations to supermarket it becomes clear how the morals of capitalism

It is at this first stage of production at the plantation where the most exploitation of workers takes
place. As an article about workers rights in Ecuador says, people are not seen as being as important as
the final product (Astorga 2). Because a lot of banana exporting countries have monoculture
economies, most of the countries depend on jobs and income from banana producers. Most of these
jobs are contracts too resulting in only temporary work. Not surprisingly, 10 cents of every dollar
spent on Chiquita bananas stays in the production process (Wiley 71). Banana workers are notorious
for being paid dismal wages; it should be no surprise that profits benefit the powerfully rich fruit
companies not plantation workers. Ecuador , in particular, is known for paying the lowest wages
because there are few unions. The average daily wage in Ecuador is $2 in contrast to $9 in Costa Rica
(STITCH), allowing Ecuador to sell boxes of bananas for cheaper. With no unions, Chiquita does not
pay health insurance, overtime pay or money for education. For most banana workers the threat of
being fired triumphs the promises of unions, simply because Chiquita would not be profitable without
cheap labor. For banana workers they must work under strenuous working conditions, often working
twelve hour days, carrying heavy bunches of bananas cut from the banana trunk.

Summary Of A Novel By Aldo Leopold
In this novel written by Aldo Leopold, he brings in a dreamy imagery ridden writing that entices the
reader. Along with photographs that go along with his journey and conservation. The book goes in
order of months starting with January and once it hits December, instead of months they are replaced
with locations. Leopold takes his stance to talk about conservation, but not only that he goes on to
make the point of the importance of trying to maintain harmony through what Leopold termed as land

heartfully writes this novel to inform others about the beauty of land as well. Although, Leopold s
novel was in three sections, each serving its own purpose. Nevertheless, each still all came together to
connect with the same theme, which was to have harmony between nature and humanity.
In the beginning of the novel Leopold begins by giving the reader the census of changing of
ecosystems, exploring the interactions among animals as well as plants and the impact of interactions
through the seasons. He widens the field, giving the reader a realistic idea of landscapes. Leopold also
goes on to share in the second section his journey to various farms and places throughout the United

Debit cards were common in China, with about 300 million cards issued by mid 2001. However, each
city had a separate payment gateway to process these cards, so a card from one city often could not be
used at the issuing bank s system in another city. 4 This lack of integration made it very difficult for
auction sites to handle debit card payments online. The credit card option was even worse. Because
China s credit system was not developed, Chinese banks were cautious about issuing cards and the
application process was complicated. By 2001, there were only about 25 million credit cards issued in
China, accounting for less than 1 percent of consumer spending (compared to about 25 percent in the
U.S.), and credit cards were accepted at only about 3 percent of China s shops. As the need for better
credit card services intensified in the early 2000s, various institutions responded. In 2001, Bank of
China and China Construction Bank started accepting credit card applications online. At the same
time, a large number of credit verification companies emerged to help banks work around the lack of a
personal credit scoring system in China. These companies checked the backgrounds of applicants
through various channels, including meeting the applicants in person. In February 2002, the People s

Comparing Muir And Wordsworth
Naturalism is a style and theory of representation based on the accurate depiction of detail. These
writers use several different techniques of writing. The one most often used by the two is using nature
to represent emotion. In Muir s essay and Wordsworth s poem, both writers have expressed their
relationships with nature through poetry and diction.
Firstly, Muir and Wordsworth use both similar and different techniques when they write. Muir wrote
an essay that often used hopeful tones called The Calypso Borealis . He used dialect as well to
represent the way people he met spoke: Mony a puir body has been lost in that muckle, cauld, dreary
bog and never been found. By using dialect, he was able to bring accents and poor speech to life.

who thinks that life is pointless. Under theorization, Meursault states, I realized then that a man who
had lived only one day could easily for a hundred years in prison. (Meursault 79)With this quote, there
are many various topics to elaborate on, such as, how Meursault reached this conclusion, the meaning
of the quote, and what the realization means for a man who thinks life is meaningless. Meursault
wanders about his cell looking to kill time when he begins to use his imagination , mentally noticing
every small detail that was in his old room. I would remember every piece of furniture; and on every
piece of furniture, every object;

Skin Cancer In Dogs Essay
Skin cancer in dogs is very common and is found in different forms. It is not always possible to see
any changes to the cancer cell, unlike in humans where we can see changes in color etc. Therefore a
biopsy is the only guaranteed way to confirm if they are benign or malignant. A biopsy is simply the
removal of a small sample of the tumor which is sent off for pathology testing. If the tumor is small
your vet may remove all of it to be used for the biopsy.
If the growth is larger, over an inch in diameter, then your vet will take a cell sample by aspiration.
This is a simple procedure where they insert a fine needle into the tumor and withdraw a small amount
of the cell for further testing.

Spaniels, Poodles, Schnauzers Terriers are breeds of dogs more likely to be affected. Canine epidermal
inclusion cysts form when dry secretions block hair follicles, this causes a build up of hair and sebum
(an oily/greasy matter), which leads to the formation of a cyst.
They are a dome like growth that can vary in size, anything up to an inch and a half but usually
smaller. If they become infected drainage is recommended which occasionally leads to a cure. One
option is to have it removed but this is rare.
Treatment and Prevention Of Skin Cancer In Dogs
Now that you are aware of the different types of dog skin cancer what should you do next?
1. Make a habit of checking your dog s body and skin for lumps bumps and any tell tale signs of skin
cancer. I usually do it when I bath or groom my dog
2. Ensure your loyal companion has a check up with a veterinarian at least once a year
3. Be mindful of their diet. A good balanced diet will help prevent many ailments and help build up
natural immunities to many skin problems and canine cancers.
4. Do research on common illnesses and cancers that occur in your breed of

Detection System And Contribution Methodology For...
The new detection engine uses a setwise methodology for analysing snort rules. The detection engine
builds four rule groups: TCP, UDP, ICMP, and IP. When processing a packet, the new detection engine
first checks the protocol. If the protocol is TCP, UDP, or ICMP, the detection engine checks the ruleset
for that protocol; otherwise, it checks the IP ruleset. Each ruleset is comprised of a rule group based on
the longest content from every rule on each port. For ICMP packets, the rule group is based on the
ICMP type specified in each ICMP rule. For each packet that comes in, the detection engine calls
prmFindRuleGroup, which returns the appropriate rule group based on the packet submitted.

Then, based on the action, the configured numbers of alerts are generated. For example, if the
configured alert type order is pass, alert, log, and there are any pass rules, then the traffic is passed and
no alerts are logged. If there are no pass rules, then the first three events are logged ordered by the
longest content or priority. By default, the detection engine orders the rules to fire based on longest
content. Output module act upon the detection of attacks. Snort can output to log record, display etc. a
message in different formats file syslog, ASCII, PCAP, Unified2 (binary preformat for quick analysis)
as depicted in figure 6. (Snort.org, 2017) Figure 6. Where output plugin stay in Snort architecture
Most open source IDS are working as a result of multiple software and conditions. As example, Snort
can run as a daemon (service) or as standalone application, but it may need additional resources and
services. It can be enumerate a SQL server for its database logging or a Syslog server for log output, a
Web Server for its GUI and multiple other library dependences. Usually the commercial IDS are able
to retrieve and analyse data form multiple sources and platforms. The essential point is the fact an IDS
can be hosted on one machine with all dependencies or the services can be hosted on several machines
that configured work as a unitary system. Nevertheless, when the IDS services are deployed on
multiple machines all of those must be secured

Police Officer Compliance Report
In the course of my career, I have been fortunate to have made few decisions which I truly considered
to be difficult. In each of the cases I have recalled in preparation for this essay, adherence to
department policy or to the law has made the decision a natural one. It is when the decision creates the
potential for disagreement or conflict with a co worker which has proved to make the decision itself
more challenging. In recent positions I held working with, or later for, U.S. Immigration and Customs
Enforcement, I experienced this particular challenge involving one of our office s Detention and
Deportation Officers. Working as a contractor, there was the occasional feeling of the us vs. them
mentality projected by a few of the officers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had already heard about the case I was bringing to him. To my discomfort, the alleged affront had
become a topic of office conversation among the officers and command staff. Without hesitation, the
officer responded verbally and in writing the two individuals were clearly not the same. I forwarded
the evaluation of the prints by the second officer to the original officer with my re affirmed conclusion
the two individuals were not the same person. I, again, unlinked the records and performed extensive
data integrity in EARM to prevent the same mistake from occurring in the future.
This experience left a lasting impression on me. I used this experience to improve my procedures for
handling future cases of a similar nature. In the absence of having quality biometrics suitable for
scanning through the Automated Biometric Identification System, or IDENT, I would have a qualified
officer review them in addition to my own review. Additionally, the experience helped to establish my
analytical abilities and credibility with many of the other officers and supervisors in our office. The
officer and I were able to maintain an amicable working relationship for the duration of my
employment, and recently have become more socially acquainted in activities outside of work. While
the experience, at the time, was both challenging and frustrating, I feel I was able to grow
professionally as a

Pros And Cons Of Outsiders
What is an outsider? Do you maybe know some people who are outsiders? An outsider by definition
is, a person who does not belong to a particular group . These people are usually lonely and don t have
people by their side to stand up for them. Outsiders are misjudged and misunderstood by society as a
whole and overall just not excepted. Most people Judge a book by it s cover before even giving the
person a chance. Or someone isn t exactly like them so they push them away into isolation. Not
everyone is the same, but people think that if someone doesn t do the things they do, it makes them
uncool and sometimes leads to bullying. Everyone needs somewhere to belong even if it isn t with the
cool kids. All around the world, people are being judged by many people that may not even know.
Today s world, everyone judges a book by it s cover both figuratively and literally. Not everyone looks
nor dresses the same, but in today s society this seems to matter. If somebody wears all name brand
clothes with expensive accessories you don t often see them hanging around the kids that wear hand
me downs. Weird right, this is because society judges people based on what they look like before even
getting to know them. they do. Also looks are judged, the people who are considered They assume
they are uncool or weird because they don t wear the pretty or handsome sometimes shut out the
people they think aren t. name brand clothing like. In a recent study conducted by Allure they

Disadvantages Of Multicultural Marriage
Being born in the 21st century, we are exposed to many new concepts in the society. The concept of
family also changed as well as time passes; people nowadays have better understanding towards non
traditional families such as transsexual or homosexual marriage.
I used to think that it is better to form family or find spouses with the same nationality (i.e. Chinese)
and similar cultural background, as this can foster better understanding between one and another.
However, it is now a common practise and phenomenon to see multicultural marriage and families in
a cosmopolitan society like Hong Kong. We are lucky to be given many opportunities to be in touch
with people with different cultural background, no matter in our learning environment such as
exchange programmes or study tour, or in workplace like joining business tours.
Such a phenomenon is also reflected in other Asian countries like Korea in the film Punch , the main

Such a value is well protected in Hong Kong, but not Singapore, which is well known as the Fine city
. Singapore sacrificed civil liberty for the sake of economic development. There is no doubt economic
development is important to maintain the national strength and reputation of a country or a city,
however Singapore is not worthy for being an authoritarian city. Everything was restricted,
mainstream media under government supervision monopolized media industry; citizens would face
harsh penalties if they accidentally done something wrong even chewing gum were banned in
Singapore. Living under such kind of society, I don t think the Singaporeans will feel happy with their
life their access and freedom to obtain information and express views were deprived, even the Internet
is free but lawsuits are waiting for the netizens once they posted materials regarded as illegal by the

  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of The Indian Removal Act Of 1830 The Indian Removal Act of 1830, championed by President Andrew Jackson, called for the relocation of numerous native American tribes to lands west of the Mississippi River to land for white settlers. Although the bill was extremely controversial, it was passed, and entire Indian tribes were forced to move. Due to the hardship and suffering the Indian Removal Act of 1830 caused Indian peoples, as well as the fact that it was unnecessary, unconstitutional, and immoral, it should not have been passed. Firstly, the negative effects of the bill on native Americans far outweighed the benefits it might have had for second people. Secondly, the bill violated numerous treaties between the U.S. government and Indian tribes and was thus unconstitutional. Lastly, the bill was immoral due to the fact that Indian leaders were not allowed a voice in their own future and the inherent racism involved in the decision. One of the main arguments opponents of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 voiced was that, at its most basic level, the removal bill was not necessary. The main purpose of the act was to provide more land for an increasing population of white American citizens; more land, the government believed, would help expand the American economy. Proponents of the bill, such as President Andrew Jackson (who ratified the act), claimed that the land occupied by the Indians would be put to better use as part of our extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and all the improvements which art can devise... . However, while those who supported the bill used nationalistic attitudes to justify their position, others found that removing the Indian peoples was not necessary to achieve economic growth. As Massachusetts Congressman Edward Everett and others emphasized, it was possible for white settlers to thrive while leaving Cherokee peoples on the land that was rightfully theirs; it was greed, not necessity, that motivated the people to demand more land. The removal bill should not have been passed because although the white population benefitted from the removal of the Indians, this benefit was not worth the hardship the Indians endured as a result. The benefit of white citizens should not have been prioritized over the well being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those three major companies are: Boeing, Airbus Industry and McDonnell Douglas; each of one was struggling to produce enough aircraft to satisfy a seemingly unquenchable need for passenger and freight transport around the world, developed in this form many kinds of aircrafts in different models and styles. Airbus is a consortium of European aircraft manufacturers formed in 1970; Boeing Company was founded in 1916 as the world s largest private commercial aircraft manufacturer in the USA; and finally McDonnell Douglas, considered the third major manufacturer, began operations since 1920 working essentially for the US government, manufacturing ... This was the main reason for which the company in the future decides to make a joint venture with other companies in order to avoid its financial problems. MAIN PROBLEM The main problem at this case is how the Airbus industry is going to continue with its financing if the government subsidies, from which it survived, were being negotiated away because they were considered and unfairly competence. Also it is important for the company knows what kind of things has to do in order to be competitive in pricing and how this new paths are going to impact in the market and in its competitors. • 7. Explain Anslem s Ontological Argument 730012506 PHIL 134H Paper # 1 Anselm s Ontological Argument Eleventh century French monk, Anslem of Catenbury, offered a deductive argument proving the existence of God. In order to truly grasp the argument, we must first attempt to understand the philosopher and his own ideologies. Anslem preludes his proof by stating his profound faith in God, consequently affirming that it is only through God s enlightening that his understanding can reach as high as God. He also adds that he who says in his heart that there is no God is a fool, per the Bible. Anslem s argument is based greatly on what he understands to be the nature of God s being that than which nothing greater can be conceived. The deductive argument simply put goes as follows: 1. God is the greatest thing we can think of. 2. Things can exist only in our imaginations, or they can also exist is reality. 3. Things that exist in reality are always better than things that exist only in our imaginations. 4. If God existed only in our imaginations, he wouldn t be the greatest things that we can think of because God in reality would be better. Therefore, God must exist in reality. If a country s economy is big, wealthy, and powerful, that country is set, at least for the time being. The United States and its massive budget are a great example. The U.S. economy is a very capitalistic, risky, and stressful endeavor. This great nation s economy is powered by the almighty power of capitalism. We are number one when it comes to the size and importance of our budget (US Economy). Ipso Facto during the United States prime, many countries wanted to emulate the United States due to their extraordinary financial standing compared to the rest of the World (McBride). This want to push towards United States levels of success has caused many countries to shift to a more capitalistic way of thinking. Stella Liebeck s case was portrayed as acquisitive and soon was manipulated to represent the flaws in the civil justice system. The media reconstructed her case into fragmented bits and transformed it to symbolize the lawsuit crisis (Haltom, McCann 2004). In order for me to keep my job at Five Guys I had to push myself and make sure that I get to work on time . Also learning how to budget money was a enormous problem for me because I was never taught how to say money until I realize the importance of every single dollar saved or spent. Nobody would ... Insulin testing is commonly indicated in the investigation of insulinomas, hypoglycaemia, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, as well as a number of other conditions. The analysis of insulin is often restricted by strict pre analytical recommendations. • 20. The Battle Of Saint Mihiel World War I Marc A. Lungo, Adam W. Delano, Christopher J. Snyder Air Defense Artillery Advanced Leaders Course World War I The battle of Saint Mihiel was a pivotal point in the many conflicts the United States was involved in during World War I. In this essay, the role of the Non Commissioned Officers, along with the invention of the 3 Inch M1918 Anti Air Gun, is shown to be an incredible advantage for the United States. The need for a weapon that is mobile, as well as perform a much needed defensive service, presented the opportunity to create the 3 Inch M1918 Anti Aircraft Gun. The 3 Inch M1918 AA gun is a derivative of the 3 Inch M1898 that is too large to be feasibly mobile (Ordnance, T.O, 1920). While this gun cannot be fired while being towed behind a vehicle, it is transportable enough to move to an area that needs protection from the ever growing aircraft attack threat. This variation has a design of a smaller breach that fired a cartridge of 76.2x585R, allowing a breach that will automatically open after the firing of each cartridge (Ordnance, T. O, 1920). This was an innovative concept that allows the firing of multiple rounds at a greater rate to help with the adjustment needed when firing at an aircraft traveling at a high velocity, attitude, and altitude. The muzzle velocity of this weapon firing a 15 pound shell, with either shrapnel or explosive charge, is 2,400 feet per second (Ordnance, T.O, 1920). The maximum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Analysis Of The Poem The Old Testament One of the most interesting details of this picture is its shape. Most pieces that we see are rectangular or square. This piece is circular. Not only that, but there are also words around the border of the scene. After my first look at this picture, I think that there is a strong feminist undertone here. A woman is the main focal point, and not only that but she is also about to kill a man. She is exuding power. This scene is reminiscent of a biblical story in the Old Testament where a woman drives a stake through a man s head during wartime. Descriptive Analysis One of the first elements of this piece was the contrast. The piece was done in black and white so there are mainly just highlights and shadows. She is holding a hammer to the head of this man who we can see is very strong, and he cannot stop her. To create the contrast in this scene, the artist relied heavily on the use of lines. There is a boundary line that encompasses the entire picture. The fact that the boundary line of this piece is in a circle makes the scene feels as if it holds some sort of significance. There is a type of painting the tondo where the artist creates his/her piece with a circular boundary line. This style of art was very popular in Italy during the Renaissance and was usually used to convey religious ideas. This evidence would support the idea that this scene depicts a biblical story from the Old Testament. The artist also uses the method of hatching and cross hatching to give a sense of depth. The use of hatching is very heavily defined on the curtains around the backside of the tent. Cross hatching is used to define a shadow on the left side of the curtain. This effect makes it feel as though this area of the tent is farther away from the viewer s vantage point. The artist also uses hatching on the two main subjects to define their bodies even under their clothes. This method helps the artist contribute to the effect of contrast. Areas where there is little to no hatching seem lighter and thus closer to the viewer. There ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Understanding The Consciousness Of The People Of London At... Tracking the culture of a society has always proven to be a challenge. Historians and archeologists may study artifacts, books, poetry, among other cultural legacies in an attempt to understand the beliefs and lives of previous generations. However, this has a certain level of inaccuracy towards the beliefs of the average person in that society. To speak to that point, I wish to introduce Gilbert and Sullivan. Gilbert and Sullivan were a pair of opera writers operating in England between 1871 and 1896. Their operas were so immensely popular with the British public that the world s first building lit entire by lightbulbs, the Savoy Theater, was built for the purpose of housing the premiers of their operas. It is through this immense popularity with the common people that we can begin to understand the consciousness of the people of London at the time. In this case, Gilbert and Sullivan s opera, Utopia Limited, can provide us with a clear picture of the Victorian view on a woman s place in sports, and information on their beliefs on sports in general. Sports throughout the Victorian age can be used as a telescope to examine a wide range of issues. Whether it s the role of women, thoughts on prudery, or a manifestation of romanticism within society, there is much to learn from sports. This is why Gilbert and Sullivan s second to last Opera, Utopia Limited, should pique the interest of any sports historian. Throughout Utopia Limited, W.S. Gilbert outlines the characteristics ... The carbohydrates of the rice are broken down, by the enzymes lactase and maltase into the sugars fructose and glucose, and also absorbed by the small intestine lining. The difference in each author s ideology and contexts Said (a professor in comparative lit with a Palestinian background, writing in 1978, a time of conflict and devastation in the middle east) and Huntington, (an American political scientist writing at a time in which his country is at a height of its power), causes what is described by Said as The clash of definitions (SD). Said views culture as a culmination and product of ideologies, morals and beliefs propagated by members of society. Huntington views culture as more definite, established and finite. Said defines a specific culture in relation to others whist Huntington believes each culture is its own separate entity. Through the exploration of these contrasting views it can be interpreted that a key difference between each definition is that Said defines culture as more broad and capable of being influenced whilst Huntington views it only as a powerful influencer. This may also reflect their positions as either from the West or the Orient. Whilst Huntington defines culture as basic and less mutable , Said acknowledges culture as a complex matter . For this work Goffman gained inspiration from his own personal experiences, as his wife struggled with mental illness and he chose to travel to the Shetland Islands to study the interaction in their society. His wife s illness may have shaped his argument as another key piece of his work was Asylums where he carried out fieldwork in a hospital where he wished to look at the social world of an inmate. In his findings he was very critical and stated how behaviour that was deemed out of the ordinary was simply someone not conforming to the rules and expectations of society. • 31. Prescribed Pasture Burning Fire! Most people are alarmed with that word. But fire is a major factor in allowing the grasslands to exist. Native Americans used to burn prairies to get rid of all of the dead grass and allow the new grass to grow for the bison to eat. Burning off grasslands in the spring permits the grass to grow without being restricted by the old, dead grass. Fire also kills the parasites and flies that bother the cattle in the summer. Invasive cedar trees overtake grasses and starve out good native grasses. Other methods can be used to combat them but fire is the quickest and most efficient. While pasture burning may seem harmful to some, it s an essential way to keep our grasslands and prairies in working order. Native Americans used fire to (invasive species, old/dead grass) Our government enforces prescribed burning on land enrolled in Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Landowners who participated in this program are required to burn this native grass at least once every three years. Grass needs to be burned fairly often by humans or nature may take its course and possibly get out of control and be disastrous. For example, consider the recent wildfires in California and Colorado. Use Of Discourse And Social Media Within The Arab Spring Throughout the years there have been many Occupy Movements; Occupy Wall Street, Occupy Central in Hong Kong and Occupy Nigeria are just a few that were inspired by the Arab Spring. Looking at the Arab Spring in terms of ideas of power is a useful framework because it enables us to gain information which could be useful for future occupy movements as well as giving us a different interpretation to that of the social norm. We will then be able to connect that newly analysed idea of power with obedience and disobedience within the Arab Spring. Power is often seen as being held by those in authority positions such as Presidents, prime ministers and military officials. We are able to reflect on this traditional notion of power and connect it with the power at play in the Arab Spring, and thus gain an in depth look into the idea of discourse and social media within the Arab Spring. Through the post structural theory and prominent thinkers such as Hobbes and Foucault we are able to look at the Arab Spring in a broad sense, looking at ideas such as the Ripple Effect which other theories may not enable us to look at. There are currently four known Ebola virus strands that are deadly to humans. The virus is transmitted through bodily fluids so it can be transferred via mucosal surfaces or abrasions on the skin when being in direct contact to an infected person. It is highly pathogenic and causes death in approx. 50 90% of all known cases. This laboratory and numerous experiments has shown that antigen X1 should be used with adjuvant x2 as together they stimulate the appropriate immune response against Ebola and could be a viable cure for the company. The first, is the innate immune response which involves different resistance mechanisms to determine and respond to an unspecified pathogen. Innate immunity in relation to viruses requires cytokines and NK cells to destroy the pathogen. Viral infection in cells promote the production of a specific type of cytokines known as interferon and they interfere with viral replication in the host cells. Interferon can be split down into three main molecules: interferon , interferon  and interferon . Interferon   are the main molecules in viral infection. Interferon also activate natural killer cells in order for them to destroy virus infected cells and allow the release of cytokines. The adaptive immune response also ... It is at this first stage of production at the plantation where the most exploitation of workers takes place. As an article about workers rights in Ecuador says, people are not seen as being as important as the final product (Astorga 2). Most of these jobs are contracts too resulting in only temporary work. Not surprisingly, 10 cents of every dollar spent on Chiquita bananas stays in the production process (Wiley 71). Banana workers are notorious for being paid dismal wages; it should be no surprise that profits benefit the powerfully rich fruit companies not plantation workers. Ecuador , in particular, is known for paying the lowest wages because there are few unions. The average daily wage in Ecuador is $2 in contrast to $9 in Costa Rica (STITCH), allowing Ecuador to sell boxes of bananas for cheaper. I will do this by believing in my students and pushing them to achieve their goals. As a teacher, I understand that politics and geographic zones have a big influence on what schools are supplied with, and they can have an impact on the education that a student gets. As a teacher, I will not let these things get in the way of providing my students with a quality education, and I will not let these things hinder what my students learn. My philosophy of education is that every child should be given a chance to learn. All children are different, and most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have to make sure that these students are learning the same concepts and skills that the other students are learning. I will refer to the students IEP s when making instructional decisions for these students. I will make sure that these students have the accommodations that they need, and I will make sure that these accommodations are not visible to other students. I will believe in these students and have high expectations for these students as well. Some trends of education are similar to my philosophy of education. All children don t learn on the same styles, and some teachers understand that. The only thing I don t agree with about the educational system in today s society is the standardized testing. This is mostly in the public school system. As an inspiring teacher, I understand that all students will not test well. I don t think a test should determine whether a child passes or fails, but I do think it should determine what a teacher spends more time on with that particular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Comparing Muir And Wordsworth Naturalism is a style and theory of representation based on the accurate depiction of detail. These writers use several different techniques of writing. The one most often used by the two is using nature to represent emotion. In Muir s essay and Wordsworth s poem, both writers have expressed their relationships with nature through poetry and diction. Firstly, Muir and Wordsworth use both similar and different techniques when they write. Muir wrote an essay that often used hopeful tones called The Calypso Borealis . He used dialect as well to represent the way people he met spoke: Mony a puir body has been lost in that muckle, cauld, dreary bog and never been found. By using dialect, he was able to bring accents and poor speech to life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Under theorization, Meursault states, I realized then that a man who had lived only one day could easily for a hundred years in prison. (Meursault 79)With this quote, there are many various topics to elaborate on, such as, how Meursault reached this conclusion, the meaning of the quote, and what the realization means for a man who thinks life is meaningless. • 43. Skin Cancer In Dogs Essay Skin cancer in dogs is very common and is found in different forms. It is not always possible to see any changes to the cancer cell, unlike in humans where we can see changes in color etc. Therefore a biopsy is the only guaranteed way to confirm if they are benign or malignant. A biopsy is simply the removal of a small sample of the tumor which is sent off for pathology testing. If the tumor is small your vet may remove all of it to be used for the biopsy. If the growth is larger, over an inch in diameter, then your vet will take a cell sample by aspiration. This is a simple procedure where they insert a fine needle into the tumor and withdraw a small amount of the cell for further testing. Skin Papillomas Skin papillomas on dogs are growths ... • 44. Detection System And Contribution Methodology For... The new detection engine uses a setwise methodology for analysing snort rules. The detection engine builds four rule groups: TCP, UDP, ICMP, and IP. When processing a packet, the new detection engine first checks the protocol. If the protocol is TCP, UDP, or ICMP, the detection engine checks the ruleset for that protocol; otherwise, it checks the IP ruleset. Each ruleset is comprised of a rule group based on the longest content from every rule on each port. For ICMP packets, the rule group is based on the ICMP type specified in each ICMP rule. For each packet that comes in, the detection engine calls prmFindRuleGroup, which returns the appropriate rule group based on the packet submitted. prmFindRuleGroup returns the appropriate rule ... For example, if the configured alert type order is pass, alert, log, and there are any pass rules, then the traffic is passed and no alerts are logged. If there are no pass rules, then the first three events are logged ordered by the longest content or priority. By default, the detection engine orders the rules to fire based on longest content. As example, Snort can run as a daemon (service) or as standalone application, but it may need additional resources and services. It can be enumerate a SQL server for its database logging or a Syslog server for log output, a Web Server for its GUI and multiple other library dependences. Usually the commercial IDS are able to retrieve and analyse data form multiple sources and platforms. The essential point is the fact an IDS can be hosted on one machine with all dependencies or the services can be hosted on several machines that configured work as a unitary system. • 45. Police Officer Compliance Report In the course of my career, I have been fortunate to have made few decisions which I truly considered to be difficult. In each of the cases I have recalled in preparation for this essay, adherence to department policy or to the law has made the decision a natural one. It is when the decision creates the potential for disagreement or conflict with a co worker which has proved to make the decision itself more challenging. In recent positions I held working with, or later for, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, I experienced this particular challenge involving one of our office s Detention and Deportation Officers. Working as a contractor, there was the occasional feeling of the us vs. them mentality projected by a few of the officers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He had already heard about the case I was bringing to him. To my discomfort, the alleged affront had become a topic of office conversation among the officers and command staff. Without hesitation, the officer responded verbally and in writing the two individuals were clearly not the same. I forwarded the evaluation of the prints by the second officer to the original officer with my re affirmed conclusion the two individuals were not the same person. I, again, unlinked the records and performed extensive data integrity in EARM to prevent the same mistake from occurring in the future. This experience left a lasting impression on me. I used this experience to improve my procedures for handling future cases of a similar nature. In the absence of having quality biometrics suitable for scanning through the Automated Biometric Identification System, or IDENT, I would have a qualified officer review them in addition to my own review. Additionally, the experience helped to establish my analytical abilities and credibility with many of the other officers and supervisors in our office. The officer and I were able to maintain an amicable working relationship for the duration of my employment, and recently have become more socially acquainted in activities outside of work. While the experience, at the time, was both challenging and frustrating, I feel I was able to grow professionally as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Pros And Cons Of Outsiders What is an outsider? Do you maybe know some people who are outsiders? An outsider by definition is, a person who does not belong to a particular group . These people are usually lonely and don t have people by their side to stand up for them. Outsiders are misjudged and misunderstood by society as a whole and overall just not excepted. Most people Judge a book by it s cover before even giving the person a chance. Or someone isn t exactly like them so they push them away into isolation. Not everyone is the same, but people think that if someone doesn t do the things they do, it makes them uncool and sometimes leads to bullying. Everyone needs somewhere to belong even if it isn t with the cool kids. All around the world, people are being judged by many people that may not even know. Today s world, everyone judges a book by it s cover both figuratively and literally. Not everyone looks nor dresses the same, but in today s society this seems to matter. If somebody wears all name brand clothes with expensive accessories you don t often see them hanging around the kids that wear hand me downs. Weird right, this is because society judges people based on what they look like before even getting to know them. they do. • 47. Disadvantages Of Multicultural Marriage Being born in the 21st century, we are exposed to many new concepts in the society. The concept of family also changed as well as time passes; people nowadays have better understanding towards non traditional families such as transsexual or homosexual marriage. I used to think that it is better to form family or find spouses with the same nationality (i.e. Chinese) and similar cultural background, as this can foster better understanding between one and another. However, it is now a common practise and phenomenon to see multicultural marriage and families in a cosmopolitan society like Hong Kong. We are lucky to be given many opportunities to be in touch with people with different cultural background, no matter in our learning environment such as exchange programmes or study tour, or in workplace like joining business tours. Such a phenomenon is also reflected in other Asian countries like Korea in the film Punch , the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
