Elderly Population Rehabilitation
You actually create victims by not letting elderly prisoners go and use your resources on rehabilitation

are they here? Our name is corrections to correct deviant behavior, but there s nothing to correct in the
guys; they re harmless. Burl Cain, warden of Louisiana state penitentiary at Angola. Experts say that
the growth of the elderly inmate population is and will continue to grow. There are several reasons for
the dramatic increase of the elderly population. First, the growth of older prisoners reflects, in general,
the continual aging of society as a whole. According to the Federal interagency forum on Aging

This is mostly for the physical, psychological, and social needs of the elderly population. Some
activities, such as chair aerobics, adult basics education, and GED classes are provided as part of the
program, as well as bingo, shuffleboard, horseshoe, and a walking program. In some facilities, they
provide assistance to elderly inmates so that they can apply for social security, Medicare benefits, and
a health care education program. In seven states, they have housing units reserved for the elderly
inmates. The reason for this is due to their special medical needs or their eligibility for hospice care.
For example, the Minnesota correctional facility for older prisoners has a dedicated housing unit for
inmates within the age range of fifty five and older with chronic health problems (Abner). Nurses are
provided for them sixteen hours a day (Abner). Angola state penitentiary in Louisiana is one of the
many prisons that offer hospice care for inmates in their final stages of terminal illnesses. In numerous
states, they have what is called compassionate release programs. For some reason, it is hardly used
due to the fact that most of the older prisoners die while in prison or literally have no where to go, so
they decided to remain imprisoned. Some are released under medical reprieve, a supervised release
program for prisoners who are considered a low risk for re offending. Due to the population growth
amongst elderly prisoners, along with the fact that they are getting sicker and sicker as they age, the
cost toward the state that these prisoners require will continue to grow as

Summary Of Waiting For Superman
The documentary Waiting for Superman was both informative and eye opening, as it provided insight
into problems that exist within the public school system and demonstrated how difficult the education
reform has been thus far. Specifically, the director David Guggenheim brought light to the literacy
crisis within in the United States, investigated its many causes, and discussed changes that needed to
be made in order to ensure greater academic success among children in America. While this
documentary may cause great controversy among educators due to the exposure of poor test scores
and unfit teachers, there were many great points that should be reflected on by teachers, Speech
Language Pathologists, Literacy Specialists, and others professionals who play a role in the literacy of
our youth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is the role of Speech Language Pathologists to support children who exhibit deficits in
language and literacy to increase overall success. As a Speech Language Pathology graduate student
watching the documentary, it was especially important to keep this role in mind as statistics over a
span of many years have shown that literacy scores are poor/failing in many public schools within the
United States of America. This means that many children are falling behind in literacy which is
inhibiting overall academic success, which could then translate into difficulty functioning in society if
remediation does not occur during the child s educational term. Hence, this documentary corresponds
with Loyola s childhood literacy class and it reflects on how deficits related to literacy impacts the
child s lifetime success and states the importance of intensive instruction and intervention to improve
the literacy crisis within the United

The Tuna Industry And Its Effects On The Oceanic Ecosystem
This essay will focus on the bluefin tuna industry in Japan, a country which consumes the majority of
the global catch. The industry is one driven by the sudden increase in demand for sushi, a Japanese
haute food which is now consumed globally. It will also illustrate the uniqueness and important role
which the bluefin tuna plays in aquatic ecosystems throughout the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian
Oceans. Lastly, the issues of globalization and lack of market regulation will be examined as a cause
for the collapse in Atlantic bluefin fisheries. The tuna industry in Japan is having negative
environmental impacts on the oceanic ecosystem.
The Arguments
Despite the unparalleled popularity of bluefin tuna in today s sushi industry, it has not always been
this way. Sushi, prior to the mid twentieth was a luxury food eaten exclusively during special
occasions, and Japanese chefs never used to serve bluefin tuna in sushi bars (Kurokura, Takagi, Sakai,
Yagi, 2012). The tuna had too strong of a taste for the Japanese palette who preferred milder species of
fish, however this all changed post WWII. Japan underwent a rapid transformation from a war torn
state into a global economic power in a matter of decades. By 1980, Japan had become the second
largest economy in the world, following only USA (Dicken, 2011). The proliferation of the middle and
upper class in Japan equated in a greater demand for sushi in everyday diet. The 1970 s marked a new
epoch in sushi culture as the quest for

Social Media And Its Impact On New Media
The widespread use of social media and the resulting transition to a system dependent on new media
has fundamentally changed the ways in which we communicate. One significant aspect of
communication that has been drastically altered is the news media and their presence on social media
sites such as Twitter primarily as a result of our changing interactions with and procurement of the
news. Over the course of the last semester, I worked as an Assistant Producer for both Unify and
Activism Media, which are sister companies. One of the most significant experiences I had during my
internship was in my work as a journalist for Activism Media. I was assigned to cover the public s
responses to the death of Michael Brown and the subsequent protests following the failure to indict
both Darren Wilson and Daniel Pantaleo (also known as the Shut it Down protests). My experiences
during this assignment illustrated a number of theoretical concepts in the media studies field chiefly:
citizen journalism, agenda setting, and framing. The creation of the printing press and news media
significantly altered the world s ability to communicate. Many scholars have argued that with the
printing press came a transformation of the public sphere and the public s ability to discuss and
identify societal issues. Jürgen Habermas, a German sociologist and philosopher, posits that early
modern capitalism created conditions for this bourgeois public sphere to emerge. Numerous
conditions permitted

The Overwhelming Infection of Septic Shock
Kleinpell states, Septic shock is the result of an overwhelming infection, leading to hypotension,
altered coagulation, inflammation, impaired circulation at a cellular level, anaerobic metabolism,
changes in mental status and multiple organ failure (as sited in Garretson Malberti, Ignatavicius and
Workman (2009), sepsis is a widespread infection coupled with a more general criteria: body
temperature higher than 380C or lower than 360C, heart rate greater than 90 beats per minute,
respiratory rate greater than 20 breaths per minutes, and WBC count greater than 12,000/mm or lower
than 4,000/mm or with more than 10% bands (Spaniol, Knight, Zebley, Anderson, Pierce, 2007).
Endotoxins from gram negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, can precipitate the common
progression of events leading to septic shock. A patient experiencing SIRS is at risk for organ failure
(severe sepsis), multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, and death. This paper will outline the details
surrounding this condition, from a nursing standpoint. Early sepsis is defined as a suspected or proven
infection and the systemic response to infection (Porth Matfin, 2009). During early sepsis, a
hypodynamic state of vasodilation, increased release of pro inflammatory cytokines, pooling of blood,
cellular hypoxia, and vascular damage cause microthrombi. This sequence of events can lead to
Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) and potential death if undetected and untreated.

In one of his most popular songs titled as Blue Eyes , the singer very overtly objectifies the female
character whom he introduces to the listeners by describing one of her facial features i.e. blue eyes. He
then moves on to observe her body and reveals how seductive she looks in a short and provocative
dress. The focus then again shifts back to the glossy lips that adds to her beauty. The woman is seen as
licentious who adopts special tricks to enchant the singer and trap him. Notice what metaphors are

British Influence On Australian Society
Thesis
The British were a vital part of the history of Australia. They explored the world creating colonies all
over, but January 18, 1788 is when they first colonized Australia bringing with them many convicts
from Britain. Through their exploration and colonization they traded many economic, political, and
social aspects from Britain with the aborigines that they encountered in Australia. Without Britain
sending people over to Australia, the continent known as the land down under would not be the same
today.
Exploration:
There were many people who explored Australia, but the most famous was James Cook. James was a

4. Aside from the occasional Indonesian trader or curious European sailor, the majority of the
Australian Indigenous population had never seen other humans for many thousands of years. Yet,
during the late 18th century, this would all change as the Europeans began to explore and inhabit
Australia.
During 1770, Captain James Cook, a British Lieutenant, landed his ship theEndeavour at Botany Bay
in New South Wales. Two Indigenous people from the area were unhappy and tried to stop Cook and
his crew from coming ashore. Cook s crew were greater in number and were able to overpower them.
They raised the British flag, which represented the taking of possession of land (Australia) for the
King of England. Cook explored further along the coast of Australia before returning to Britain with
the news of his discoveries and encounters.
This initial journey marked the beginning of great changes to the landscape of Australia and for the
local Indigenous people who lived there. The British believed they could settle on this new land in
New South Wales, which would also fix their issue of having many lawbreakers (convicts) and not
enough prisons to house them.

Harley Davidson International Management
I. Summary of the case study Harley Davidson – rockers idol
So, this case study is about Harley Davidson, a brand of motorcycles and more precisely about its
development since his foundation in 1903 by 21 year old William S. Harley and 20 year old Arthur
Davidson.
So, in 2003, it was the celebration of the 100th birthday of the Harley Davidson. And, in order to
commemorate it, fans of this famous brand rode until Milwaukee to see the parade of 10 000 Harley
Davidson motorcycles. Through this celebration, we can see how recognized this brand is for the
owners, or should I say fans. Indeed, this case also shows how the strategy and the marketing of
Harley Davidson are good; because Harley has fans and they will do all they can for ... Show more

creative and writing their own word problem about TV and commercials. The teacher also uses these
types of problems on the summative assessment. The teacher uses connections even in the homework
that is assigned to the students. The teacher assigns students to watch their favorite television show,
and as they watch the show to record how many minutes the commercials are. All of this shows the
students understanding of the concept while allowing the students to relate this to something they
enjoy. The one NCTM process standard that I would add to this lesson plan would be the reasoning
and proof standard. This is the only standard that is rarely used in this lesson plan. The Reasoning and
Proof standard emphasizes the logical thinking that helps us decide if and why our answers make
sense (Walle, p. 5). This lesson needs to allow students to justify the reason for their answers. This
lesson only has them justifying their answers on one question, throughout the entire lesson. I would
add more to the questions than just the answers. One part of this lesson I would change to incorporate
the reasoning and proof standard is on the The Show or the

Mein Kampf Analysis
Adolf Hitler s book Mein Kampf or also known as My Struggle that was published sometime between
1925 and 1927 clearly describes his political viewpoints, moreso on race . His story supposedly is
directed on his development of his ideas and the Natzi movement with a mixture of half truths, big
lies, scurrilous attacks, and idealistic emotional appeals. Specifically, Hitler highlights the importance
of race and explains the struggles occurring in Western Europe at the time. Hitler completely rejects
the idea of Marxism and Communism, and opposes the belief that the Bourgeoisie are oppressors , as
Marx had claimed. Alternatively, Hitler emphasizes on the categorization of people by their race,
accentuating the idea that certain physical attributes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hitler states, It is idle to argue which race or races were the original representative of human culture
and hence the real founders of all that we sum up under the word humanity (Hitler 605). According to
himself, the top is a Germanic man with light skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes, known as Aryan. He is
stated as the founder of all higher humanity and represents the prototype of all that we understand by
the word man . Hitler disapproved of Marxism because it disregards the idea of nationalism and the
importance of race. Through Hitler s eye, Marxism basically handed the world over to the Jews, in
which the Jews would have much control over Europe. In addition, he felt as though Marxism would
give the Jews power in order to enslave and destroy people that are not Jewish. Jews contaminated
aspects of culture such as art, literature, and theater and they convert these significant elements of
society into their own beliefs. Overall, the Jews wanted to eliminate all others and control the
Germans for their own gain. It was the battle for world domination; racially, culturally, and politically
between the Aryans and the Jews. Hitler wanted to keep the Jews and Aryan separate because he felt
as though the Jews were truly evil people and should be eliminated and the Aryans should be kept
pure. Mixing between races would lower the quality of the higher race and would cause regression of

Question 4: What is the frequency of the communication between the different management levels?
How does it take place? Officially? Unofficially?
From the very top, our CEO holds quarterly meetings with all employees to cover the status of the
company. The management team also holds a more numbers based meeting with all management team
to cover the status of the company. It is after this level that the communication falls apart. Very little
from the middle managers makes it down to the next levels of employees. This company is publicly
held so with some investigation the numbers are available, but as an employee we should not have to
do the digging to get the information.
Question 5: At what level does the communication flow to the lowest level of the organization?
It will come from three places with varying quality. First is the quarterly meeting with the CEO. This
is a very high level of company information that is shared. Second, there are random posting boards
that Human Resources will place various information on. Third, the direct Supervisors will conduct
employee meetings. This last one seems to be sporadic and not as consistent as it should be, and with
some Supervisors not conducted at all.
Organizing is a key function for all managers. Organizing performs the task of deciding

Mahatma Gandhi And The Indian Independence Movement
When we hear the word India , the first thing that comes to mind is Mahatma Gandhi. The word
Mahatma is a literal translation to: great sage, a saint, a person to be considered as a messiah (Gandhi,
2011, P4). Descriptions such as freedom fighter, warrior for justice and activist are just three popular
terms that describe Mohandas Gandhi today. But are all these descriptions true? Mahatma Gandhi is
revered by mainstream opinion as a Jesus like figure. The media and in particular, Richard
Attenborough (Gandhi 1982), portray Mohandas as the epitome of perseverance, peace and courage.
On the contrary, the film Gandhi, is a shockingly one sided depiction of the Indian independence
movement, which fails to accurately depict history and correctly acknowledge the unnecessary loss of
life caused in the process. Evidence today emphatically refute claims of Gandhi s egalitarian and pious
persona with several historical sources and texts detailing his hypocrisy, stubbornness and blatant
perversions of equality.
Through the film Gandhi, Attenborough depicts the life and role of Mohandas Gandhi in India s bid
for independence from the British. The film is set as a complete flashback of a 24 year old Gandhi
travelling to South Africa in a class coach to his assassination in New Delhi, 1948. It is evident from
the film, that Attenborough mainly focuses on the positive biography of Gandhi to mould his anti
imperialist narrative whilst omitting the sacrifice of the Indian people.

international financial markets and become the basis for trillions of dollars of financial transactions.

All this information, along with the set LIBOR rate is published daily. Once this rate is set various
transactions begin to take place all around the globe. Its importance lies in being an indicator of world
financial health especially dealing with derivatives which are methods of pricing complex financial
transactions. Far Reaching Effects Each country and government has a stake in the LIBOR rate.
Between 2005 and 2008, staffs at Barclays acted inappropriately by manipulating the process for the
submission of rates. The manipulation allowed for the company to generate millions in profit and/or
reducing costs. This false representation had far reaching effects particularly in America and the sub
prime mortgage rate. Many cities and municipals in the US had LIBOR based rate loans and bonds.
With the manipulations of derivatives by Barclays, one of the lead banking institutions, that gave false
rates for global transactions, it called into question the reputation of the city of London being a world
financial center. Public outcry due to greed called into question the methods and process of banks as it
pertained to LIBOR rate. Barclays, specifically, involved a rogue group of derivative traders along
with other bankers influencing the final rate for greater profits and/or reduction in loses. This showed
evidence of collusion among traders as if this practice was widespread if not encouraged or at least
tolerated. Illegal or morally

Hydrogen Ions Within A Patients Blood
Acidosis is a condition when the body has too much acid circulating in the body causing the pH of the
body to become too acidic (Wisse, 2013). This will then cause the acid/base balance to tip as the acid
is building up and the base is lost. Since pH is measured on a scale of 0 to 10 and normal blood pH is
kept between 7.35 7.45, minute deviations can cause disruptions throughout many different systems of
the body (McAuley, 1993). A decrease below the recommended 7.35 means that there are too many
hydrogen ions within a patients blood and they cannot be absorbed by the body. PCO2 is the

When this happens there is a low plasma bicarbonate (HCO3 ) concentration due to the loss of storage
or renal tubular wasting and an increase in chloride concentration. Respiratory acidosis on the other
hand develops when a patient has an increased amount of carbon dioxide that cannot be expelled
through regular breathing (Wisse, 2013). Within the classification of metabolic acidosis there are
several sub classifications: Diabetic acidosis, Lactic acidosis, hyperchloremic acidosis and a number
of other contributing causes such as severe dehydration, poisoning: by aspirin, ethylene glycol or
methanol or renal disease/failure (Wisse, 2013).
Diabetic acidosis is due to an increased amount of ketones in the bodies of those suffering from
uncontrolled diabetes. Diabetics rely upon insulin as fuel to run the body and when the body is unable
to use glucose it uses fat. Ketones are the waste that is left after fat is broken down for fuel, they are
acid and when they build up in a diabetic s blood and eventually urine, their kidney s are unable to
dispel it as fast as it is being used (Wisse, 2013). Since ketones are acidic any impairment in removal
of the ketones or continued uncontrollable diabetes will cause the sudden change that could cause life
threatening complications and severe illness.

My conductor s loud claps could be heard from behind the stage, which was followed by an eruption

How Did Charlemagne A Unified Western Europe
Charlemagne, otherwise known as Charles the Great is often considered the Father of Europe. From
his accession AD 786 till his death in AD 814, Charles unified Western Europe and started traditions
that was preserved and reinforced for centuries to come. Charlemagne also restored the Roman
Empire, and considered himself Roman. Charlemagne was crowned Emperor of the West on
December 25th 800 A.D. by Pope Leo the III, so in essence, he was a true Roman and had many
similar qualities to Roman emperors such as Constantine.
Charles was a powerful military strategist and began to conquer land and expand his empire,
spreading Christianity along the way. In 774 Charles conquered Lombardy and became the king of the
Lombards. Later in 786 he conquered the Saxons, further expanding his empire. In 796 Charles added
the empire of the Avars to his mighty kingdom. Charles now ruled from Spain to Rome, unifying all of
Western Europe. When Charlemagne died in 814, his empire got split up, however Europe continued

Western Europe into Christianity. Charles used military force to compel all his subject peoples to
become Christian such as the execution of 4500 Saxon prisoners of war, thus unifying Europe through
Christianity. Christianity after Charlemagne is seen throughout most of Western Europe for centuries

Comparing The Elves And The Invisible Clothing
If you ask a child in America about The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Little Red Hen, Little Red
Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Beds, or The Emperor s New Clothes, they would be able to
recount the story without much trouble, as these are simple stories with entertaining hijacks. These are
folklores that are read aloud in a kindergarten class, or for bedtime stories, yet not animated like
Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty. These stories are even referenced in television series, such as Super
Why!, a children s series about altering books to end up with a better outcome. Some of these stories
were developed in other regions, and they are altered to fit with the community s values and thoughts,
and this can be seen when comparing The Emperor s New Clothes by Hans Christian Andersen with
The Invisible Cloth by Don Juan Manuel.

Andersen s story doesn t display a harsh view on their government, but a nice laugh at being proud

investments, and the ending doesn t offer anything satisfying as Andersen s story did. That it was the
King s last option to finally admit the truth, while the Emperor just simply continued walking with the

The Brilliant Film, Shawshank Redemption Essay
A Companion To the Movies
Title and Year: Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Director: Frank Darabont (based on the Stephen King novel)
Actors: Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman, Bob Gunton, and William Sadler.
The Shot
Long/medium/close up: Roger Deakins, the film s cinematographer, and director Frank Darabont
worked together to create this wonderful and classical film heavily utilizing long shots, close ups, and
slow zooms. Throughout the film Shawshank Redemption , a series of shots take place where the
camera is set inside a dark space looking out at the characters. For example, the camera is set inside
the entrance of a tunnel built and used by Andy to escape, which views the Warden and his guards
finally discovering how he escaped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darabont uses the angle of the camera for symbolic reasons as well, for example, the camera looks
down during the argument between Andy and Hadley. The camera s angle shot in this scene indicated
Andy had both power and effect over others.
Camera Movement: Shawshank redemption features many closeups, long takes, and slow zooms. The
use of slow zooms in on the character is to help affect the audience on an intimate level.
The Story
Characters: The main characters are Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), Ellis Boyd Red Redding (Morgan
Freeman), Warden Norton (Bob Gunton), Heywood (William Sadler), and Captain Hadley (Clancy
Brown).
Plot: The plot of Shawshank Redemption follows the usual plot format including the exposition, rising
action, climax, falling action, and conclusion. Taken place in the 1940s, this film begins with showing
the audience the unfortunate events that led successful banker Andy Dufresne into prison on life
sentence for a double murder. Andy, however, is innocent. For the beginning of Andy s time in prison,
the usual calamity and burdens had occurred. We view Andy s struggle being an innocent man living

Mobile Adhoc Network ( Manet ) Essay
Abstract: Mobile AdHoc Network (MANET) is a wireless network with a set of mobile nodes that can
communicate with each other with no access point and without any fixed infrastructure. But mobile
devices usually have limited resources (battery power, memory, CPU) which limit their transmission
range. Hence, in order to conserve the limited resource, it is highly desirable that transmission should
be as efficient as possible. MANET can be implemented in any environment because of its dynamic
nature. For routing of information packets queuing is done at the buffer and transferred through
intermediate nodes to the destination on priority basis which help to improve the overall network
performance. This paper provides a review of various buffer management schemes for packet queues
in MANET.
Index Terms: MANET, Buffer, Packet Queue.
INTRODUCTION
Mobile ad hoc network is dynamic network topology without any central network for control. All the
nodes in the network participate in networking functions like routing and packet forwarding as per the
requirement. Nodes which are in direct contact with each other communicate with single hop and
those which are not in range takes multiple hops through intermediate nodes to reach destination
Fig 1: Mobile Ad Hoc Network
Fig.1 shows that source and destination nodes are not in range so packets are routed through
intermediate nodes.
Even though MANET networks provides many advantages like scalability, flexibility, robustness, self

Strict Dress Codes At School
Lift up your arms! My 6th grade teacher ordered. Unwillingly, I stood from my seat and raised my
arms. Naturally, my shirt raised along with it, exposing my midriff. Dresscoded. I followed her to a
drawer in the back of the classroom, the whole classroom staring, as she pulled out a long, oversized T
shirt with the school logo on it. It nearly swallowed me whole. The embarrassment of being in the
limelight made my cheeks hot and flushed. When I asked her what I was dress coded for, she said that
my shirt wasn t work appropriate . Irritated, I walked back to my desk and rejoined my friends to
continue our lunch. Suddenly, a boy in our class returned from a basketball game in the 90º weather
and pulled up a chair to our table. My entire body was sweating, and the long pants and t shirt I was
being forced to wear didn t help. He leaned back in his seat and stretched his arms behind his head.
His T shirt rose up and exposed his stomach, but my teacher said and did nothing. I envied how
attention wasn t being drawn to him because his stomach was exposed. I Instantly pointed out the
double standard. Why is my shirt considered provocative while his is considered work appropriate if
they both expose the same midriff?

Role Of The Private Limited Company
1.0 Introduction Incorporation is forming of a new corporation. A corporation is like a legal entity that
can be effectively recognized as a person under the law. The corporation may be a non profit
organization or a business. It is not affected by the death of any member. A sole trader is the most
simple structure of business. This structure is less expensive to set up because there are very few legal
and tax formalities. Operating your business as a sole trader means you trade on your own and control

aggressive and frightened. There are four identified forms of dementia: Alzheimer s disease, vascular

The Realm Of Classical Music
The realm of classical music is a relatively veiled in the sphere of popular culture, but if you take the
time to scour through the beautiful, sometimes hundreds of years old pieces, you will be surprised by
the magnificence and allure that the classical music genre can offer. There are three categories of
classical music that can be observed throughout the extensive universe of classical pieces, absolute
music, program music, and characteristic music or character pieces.
Absolute music is primarily instrumental and doesn t present a general theme or idea, and is merely
music for music s sake (Morgan). The term absolute music was first used in 1846 in a program to
Beethoven s Ninth Symphony that was written by Richard Wagner, although the idea had been created
in the late 1700 s by German Romanticist authors (Apel). Absolute music does not tell a story or
convey any message external to the music itself, but still produces beautiful ravishing tunes. Although
it is not as common as program or characteristic music, it is still hiding in prominent classical pieces.
An exceptional example of mainstream absolute music that I enjoy is Canon and Gigue for 3 violins
and basso continuo by Johann Pachelbel, more commonly known as simply Canon in D, or Pachelbel
s Canon. Pachelbel was a German composer who was most commonly recognized for his organ
pieces. He composed Canon in D in 1680 during the Baroque era of classical music, an era
characterized by heavily exaggerated and

1. Identification and evaluation of sources
This investigation will thoroughly evaluate the political, economic and social effects on the natives of
South Africa after its union in 1910 . To what extent was the Union of South Africa on 31 May 1910
an effort to combat Black political awareness? The most valuable sources that are going to be used to
explore this are Nelson Mandela s illustrated Long Walk to Freedom , and the article The Union of

It reveals that the NP s legislation at some point began attacking and oppressing all races apart from
the Afrikaners themselves, but more importantly it was to assure themselves that figures like Nelson
Mandela could not rise in power. For actions such as leaving the country without valid travel

these crimes could be as much as ten years in prison. Therefore it effectively demonstrates how black
political activists in South Africa felt by use of specific examples. On the contrary though because it

and they don t support whether the NP truly meant for these things to happen.

cases they were forgotten and their voices were not heard but this article effectively voices their
concerns. Therefore, it portrays how all black citizens felt in South Africa prior to and after the Union

modern adaptation of Charles Perrault s Little Red Riding Hood . In his fairy tale Perrault prevents
girls from men s nature. In Hopkinson s adaptation, the goal remains the same: through the

In Hopkinson s story, experience is central as it leads to potential complications the grandmother tries
to avoid for her granddaughter by telling her personal story. The mother opposes her mother s urges

there s plenty of time. (2). The mother sees her mother s personal story as a ghastly old wi[fe s] tale[s].

Machiavelli And Fear
Niccolò Machiavelli was an Italian politician and writer during the sixteenth century. He is most
famous for his book The Prince which talks about how to gain political power. His book addresses the
concept of the new prince rather than the hereditary prince who must stabilize his power as well a
building political structure. In The Prince, Machiavelli talks about whether it is better to be feared or
loved. Machiavelli states that a leader should be both feared and loved, but that if you had to pick one,
pick fear. I do believe that being feared has advantages when ruling a country and makes a leader
more successful in the long run.
It is better to be feared than loved because love is usually a chosen emotion. We tend to choose who
we love but something will usually provoke us to fear someone. Love is at our own choice, and fear is
at the Prince s choice. When a leader is loved, he has to make everyone happy to try and keep that
love going, which usually cannot happen no matter how hard one tries. When he is feared, he will not
have to worry about what other people think. Machiavelli states that, Men ... Show more content on

If you are feared, no one will hurt you because they are scared of what will happen to them. People

profit (Cunningham and Reich 35). If breaking the chain gives someone an advantage, they will break
it no matter what do what is better for them. Even if they love the person, the men Machiavelli is
talking about will put themselves first, not thinking about the people that they love. This can still be
seen in today s society as well. Love can be an unstable emotion, changing from time to time, while
fear is pretty solid and does not

Cardiovascular System Vs Respiratory System Essay
The human body is not simply just an organism, or just body. The body is comprised of many different
systems. Although these systems all work together with one common goal, to maintain homeostasis,
perhaps there are not two systems that work more closely together than the respiratory system and the
cardiovascular system. Although the entirety of each body system has a generalized common goal,
these two systems share a relationship. The both focus on providing oxygen to the blood, and then
ensuring that this richly oxygenated blood is circulated throughout the body. The whole human
organism would fail if it lacked just one of these systems, and the individual systems would fail
without each other. To fully understand how the two work together, one must fully realize the
functions of each system apart. The respiratory is not one of the biggest systems of the body, but it is

Genital Warts are often asymptomatic meaning that often there are no symptoms. On the other hand
they can cause warts in the genital areas in women and men. In women, genital warts can occur on the

2. Patience, you can NOT speed up your finding your path and your purpose in life... you can only
cultivate your purpose which is like you give water to a flower. So focus on your path and overtime
your purpose will reveal itself. TIP: use your Monk Intuition when you make decisions

By combining these alternatives, Tesu has the highest chance of success in terms of profitability,
improving liquidity and solvency, and decreasing the collection period for accounts receivable to
sustain its operations.
Pro Forma Analysis
In the expansion proposal planned for Tesu, an increase in prices will prevent further losses. By
increasing even as little as 10% for all products currently manufactured by the company, they will be
turning a profit. A more dramatic price increase will alleviate of some of the strain of the company s
current production. However, this could negatively impact EMT as they are the ones who are
purchasing from Tesu.
Additionally, Tesu will also have to gain additional funds to finance their operations. In April 2013,
the company will have to borrow about 260,000€ in order to meet their financial obligations.
However, this does not account for the 250,000€ previously unpaid wages outstanding. In the
following month, Tesu must acquire 450,000€ to cover the cost of the planned increase production,
which goes towards the parts they purchased in April. Moreover, their accounts receivable collections
are very low in April and May, because they produced and sold a small amount in January and
February. After the 450,000€ is borrowed, they require 175,000€ the following month to cover

greater than the force being produced by the muscle (Lindstedt et al. 2001). Eccentric contractions
require little metabolic energy, however they are characterized by a high production of force (Semmler
2014). Fick observed that a lengthening muscle contraction could exert more force than a shortening
muscle contraction, while Hill later observed that the body has a lower energy demand when
contracting eccentrically compared to concentrically (Lindstedt et al. 2001). When the force applied is
larger than the force that is created, work is done on the lengthened muscle and mechanical energy is
absorbed this is called negative work (Lindstedt et al. 2001). This absorbed energy can either be
dissipated as heat, or it can be temporarily stored as elastic recoil potential energy for later use
(Lindstedt et al. 2001).
2. What is a force EMG relationship and why is there a tight coupling of these two parameters?
The EMG signal that is observed through the placement of electrodes on the skin is closely coupled
with the generation of muscle force. In normal conditions, the force EMG relationship is either linear
or the increase in EMG at low force levels is less than proportional (Semmler 2014). However, a
different force EMG relationship was observed following eccentric exercise,

Essay Horse Meat
The main problem out of the horsemeat scandal around Europe, according to specialists, (SOURCE) is
not the threat to human health but more an issue of business insecurity, as even major brands such as
Nestlé, Burger King and Findus fail to meet the high standards their consumers expect by selling
different products than those specified in the labels and promotion of their brands (SOURCE). Other
problem is the lack of efficient traceability along the complex supply chain for meat, where
unscrupulous vendors substitute beef for horsemeat taking advantage of the lowest price and the fact
that so many intermediates involved in the process does not make it easy to find a single responsible.

It shall include all the ingredients of the food, in descending order of weight, as recorded at the time of
their use in the manufacture of the food. (Official Journal of the EU, 2011, pg.30)
It is also stated, in accordance to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (Article 114)
that the indication of origin is mandatory for beef and beef products in the Union´s effort to follow the
bovine spongiform encephalopathy crisis, which has increased consumer´s expectations (Official
Journal of the EU, 2011). The EU Parliament believes it is compulsory to impose this declaration also
to other well consumed types of meat such as swine, sheep, goat and poultry. Still, they are many gaps
left open as for horsemeat matters and the efficient application of the laws mentioned above during the
transitional period for the establishment of the new FIR.
When a food information law is introduced with new requirements, it is said that a transitional period
should be granted for businesses and supplier to adapt to this new legislation. In the case of the new
FIR, which was accepted in July 2011, the grace period will last until 2014. In the meanwhile,
suppliers not complying with the new legislation are authorized to take out their products and labels to
the market and stay there until they´re exhausted, even if the grace period is over before that occurs.
(Official Journal of the EU, 2011)
Nevertheless, much of these requirements already existed and were

Hope In Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption
Hope is an extremely valued quality to many people, being able to dream and hope of new situations
can keep individuals going. This quality is able to keep people extremely motivated when they are
facing incredibly heartbreaking and difficult situations. The pilot in this excerpt shows immense
amounts of hope in multiple different ways. This pilot is so ecstatic when they are able to get the
aeroplane up and running. Their hope and motivation pushed the pilot and those with them to create a
way for them to escape their current status. When they were able to get the aeroplane working they got
such high hopes of a chance to escape and be free from their horrible situation. Due to their

Before Andy was sent to Shawshank he hid a key under a rock that opened a safety deposit box which
contained a new identity. Andy shows tremendous amounts of hope throughout the story that the rock
and key would still be where he left it. His hope in finding this key lead him to fantasize and hope of a
new life he could create when he escapes. Andy longs for this new life that he could create for himself
and Red in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. These are both strong examples of where Andy Dufesne expresses
his hope but the best example is that if Andy truly had no hope, he would have never escaped. Hope is
the only thing that kept Andy Dufesne going even through the most difficult

Mr. Smith Goes To Washington And It s A Wonderful Life
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) and It s a Wonderful Life (1946) are two critically acclaimed,
feel good films that embodied the spirit of the mid 1900s. Director Frank Capra carries his feel good
tone in each of these films, and shows that good will always triumph. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
follows Jefferson Smith (James Stewart) and his adventure with American politics. The film begins
when a governor needs to replace a senator. The governor decides to appoint Smith because he
appears to be a wholesome family man, while also being naïve which makes him easy to manipulate.
When Smith arrives in Washington, Senator Joseph Paine (Claude Rains) becomes a mentor to Smith.
Smith falls in love with Paine s daughter, Susan (Astrid Allwyn). Smith sticks out in Washington, ...

Each film had a lot of dialogue which comes off as very natural. Compared to many other films, the
dialogue in these films is quick, clean, and tells the story that the audience wants to hear. James
Stewart, Henry Travers, Astrid Allwyn, and Lionel Barrymore bring this dialogue to life with their
amazing performances that allow the audience members to relate to their characters some more than
others. But both the dialogue and performances are highlighted with the tone that Capra creates
throughout each film. Both Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and It s a Wonderful Life begin with a very
bright outlook: the set is lit well, the contrast is minimal, and everything seems all right in the world of
the film. But as the films go on, however, the mood changes as the main character does. In the
characters most depressing times, the set is dimly lit with high amounts of convey the depression to
the audience. Both films are effective at doing this, which makes the ending triumph for the characters

Summary Of Waiting For Superman The documentary Waiting for Superman was both informative and eye opening, as it provided insight into problems that exist within the public school system and demonstrated how difficult the education reform has been thus far. Specifically, the director David Guggenheim brought light to the literacy crisis within in the United States, investigated its many causes, and discussed changes that needed to be made in order to ensure greater academic success among children in America. While this documentary may cause great controversy among educators due to the exposure of poor test scores and unfit teachers, there were many great points that should be reflected on by teachers, Speech Language Pathologists, Literacy Specialists, and others professionals who play a role in the literacy of our youth. ... As a Speech Language Pathology graduate student watching the documentary, it was especially important to keep this role in mind as statistics over a span of many years have shown that literacy scores are poor/failing in many public schools within the United States of America. This means that many children are falling behind in literacy which is inhibiting overall academic success, which could then translate into difficulty functioning in society if remediation does not occur during the child s educational term. • 4. The Tuna Industry And Its Effects On The Oceanic Ecosystem This essay will focus on the bluefin tuna industry in Japan, a country which consumes the majority of the global catch. The industry is one driven by the sudden increase in demand for sushi, a Japanese haute food which is now consumed globally. It will also illustrate the uniqueness and important role which the bluefin tuna plays in aquatic ecosystems throughout the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. Lastly, the issues of globalization and lack of market regulation will be examined as a cause for the collapse in Atlantic bluefin fisheries. The tuna industry in Japan is having negative environmental impacts on the oceanic ecosystem. The Arguments Despite the unparalleled popularity of bluefin tuna in today s sushi industry, it has not always been this way. Sushi, prior to the mid twentieth was a luxury food eaten exclusively during special occasions, and Japanese chefs never used to serve bluefin tuna in sushi bars (Kurokura, Takagi, Sakai, Yagi, 2012). The tuna had too strong of a taste for the Japanese palette who preferred milder species of fish, however this all changed post WWII. Japan underwent a rapid transformation from a war torn state into a global economic power in a matter of decades. By 1980, Japan had become the second largest economy in the world, following only USA (Dicken, 2011). The proliferation of the middle and upper class in Japan equated in a greater demand for sushi in everyday diet. The 1970 s marked a new epoch in sushi culture as the quest for ... • 5. Social Media And Its Impact On New Media The widespread use of social media and the resulting transition to a system dependent on new media has fundamentally changed the ways in which we communicate. One significant aspect of communication that has been drastically altered is the news media and their presence on social media sites such as Twitter primarily as a result of our changing interactions with and procurement of the news. Over the course of the last semester, I worked as an Assistant Producer for both Unify and Activism Media, which are sister companies. One of the most significant experiences I had during my internship was in my work as a journalist for Activism Media. I was assigned to cover the public s responses to the death of Michael Brown and the subsequent protests following the failure to indict both Darren Wilson and Daniel Pantaleo (also known as the Shut it Down protests). My experiences during this assignment illustrated a number of theoretical concepts in the media studies field chiefly: citizen journalism, agenda setting, and framing. The creation of the printing press and news media significantly altered the world s ability to communicate. Many scholars have argued that with the printing press came a transformation of the public sphere and the public s ability to discuss and identify societal issues. Jürgen Habermas, a German sociologist and philosopher, posits that early modern capitalism created conditions for this bourgeois public sphere to emerge. Numerous conditions permitted ... Endotoxins from gram negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, can precipitate the common progression of events leading to septic shock. A patient experiencing SIRS is at risk for organ failure (severe sepsis), multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, and death. This paper will outline the details surrounding this condition, from a nursing standpoint. Early sepsis is defined as a suspected or proven infection and the systemic response to infection (Porth Matfin, 2009). During early sepsis, a hypodynamic state of vasodilation, increased release of pro inflammatory cytokines, pooling of blood, cellular hypoxia, and vascular damage cause microthrombi. Two Indigenous people from the area were unhappy and tried to stop Cook and his crew from coming ashore. Cook s crew were greater in number and were able to overpower them. He is stated as the founder of all higher humanity and represents the prototype of all that we understand by the word man . Hitler disapproved of Marxism because it disregards the idea of nationalism and the importance of race. Through Hitler s eye, Marxism basically handed the world over to the Jews, in which the Jews would have much control over Europe. In addition, he felt as though Marxism would give the Jews power in order to enslave and destroy people that are not Jewish. Jews contaminated aspects of culture such as art, literature, and theater and they convert these significant elements of society into their own beliefs. Overall, the Jews wanted to eliminate all others and control the Germans for their own gain. It was the battle for world domination; racially, culturally, and politically between the Aryans and the Jews. The word Mahatma is a literal translation to: great sage, a saint, a person to be considered as a messiah (Gandhi, 2011, P4). Descriptions such as freedom fighter, warrior for justice and activist are just three popular terms that describe Mohandas Gandhi today. But are all these descriptions true? Mahatma Gandhi is revered by mainstream opinion as a Jesus like figure. The media and in particular, Richard Attenborough (Gandhi 1982), portray Mohandas as the epitome of perseverance, peace and courage. On the contrary, the film Gandhi, is a shockingly one sided depiction of the Indian independence movement, which fails to accurately depict history and correctly acknowledge the unnecessary loss of life caused in the process. Evidence today emphatically refute claims of Gandhi s egalitarian and pious persona with several historical sources and texts detailing his hypocrisy, stubbornness and blatant perversions of equality. Through the film Gandhi, Attenborough depicts the life and role of Mohandas Gandhi in India s bid for independence from the British. The film is set as a complete flashback of a 24 year old Gandhi travelling to South Africa in a class coach to his assassination in New Delhi, 1948. It is evident from the film, that Attenborough mainly focuses on the positive biography of Gandhi to mould his anti imperialist narrative whilst omitting the sacrifice of the Indian people. ... Since pH is measured on a scale of 0 to 10 and normal blood pH is kept between 7.35 7.45, minute deviations can cause disruptions throughout many different systems of the body (McAuley, 1993). • 22. Mobile Adhoc Network ( Manet ) Essay Abstract: Mobile AdHoc Network (MANET) is a wireless network with a set of mobile nodes that can communicate with each other with no access point and without any fixed infrastructure. But mobile devices usually have limited resources (battery power, memory, CPU) which limit their transmission range. Hence, in order to conserve the limited resource, it is highly desirable that transmission should be as efficient as possible. MANET can be implemented in any environment because of its dynamic nature. For routing of information packets queuing is done at the buffer and transferred through intermediate nodes to the destination on priority basis which help to improve the overall network performance. This paper provides a review of various buffer management schemes for packet queues in MANET. Index Terms: MANET, Buffer, Packet Queue. INTRODUCTION Mobile ad hoc network is dynamic network topology without any central network for control. All the nodes in the network participate in networking functions like routing and packet forwarding as per the requirement. Nodes which are in direct contact with each other communicate with single hop and those which are not in range takes multiple hops through intermediate nodes to reach destination Fig 1: Mobile Ad Hoc Network Fig.1 shows that source and destination nodes are not in range so packets are routed through intermediate nodes. I followed her to a drawer in the back of the classroom, the whole classroom staring, as she pulled out a long, oversized T shirt with the school logo on it. It nearly swallowed me whole. The embarrassment of being in the limelight made my cheeks hot and flushed. When I asked her what I was dress coded for, she said that my shirt wasn t work appropriate . Irritated, I walked back to my desk and rejoined my friends to continue our lunch. Suddenly, a boy in our class returned from a basketball game in the 90º weather and pulled up a chair to our table. My entire body was sweating, and the long pants and t shirt I was being forced to wear didn t help. He leaned back in his seat and stretched his arms behind his head. His T shirt rose up and exposed his stomach, but my teacher said and did nothing. I envied how attention wasn t being drawn to him because his stomach was exposed. • 26. The Realm Of Classical Music The realm of classical music is a relatively veiled in the sphere of popular culture, but if you take the time to scour through the beautiful, sometimes hundreds of years old pieces, you will be surprised by the magnificence and allure that the classical music genre can offer. There are three categories of classical music that can be observed throughout the extensive universe of classical pieces, absolute music, program music, and characteristic music or character pieces. Absolute music is primarily instrumental and doesn t present a general theme or idea, and is merely music for music s sake (Morgan). The term absolute music was first used in 1846 in a program to Beethoven s Ninth Symphony that was written by Richard Wagner, although the idea had been created in the late 1700 s by German Romanticist authors (Apel). Absolute music does not tell a story or convey any message external to the music itself, but still produces beautiful ravishing tunes. Although it is not as common as program or characteristic music, it is still hiding in prominent classical pieces. An exceptional example of mainstream absolute music that I enjoy is Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo by Johann Pachelbel, more commonly known as simply Canon in D, or Pachelbel s Canon. Pachelbel was a German composer who was most commonly recognized for his organ pieces. He composed Canon in D in 1680 during the Baroque era of classical music, an era characterized by heavily exaggerated and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His book addresses the concept of the new prince rather than the hereditary prince who must stabilize his power as well a building political structure. In The Prince, Machiavelli talks about whether it is better to be feared or loved. Machiavelli states that a leader should be both feared and loved, but that if you had to pick one, pick fear. I do believe that being feared has advantages when ruling a country and makes a leader more successful in the long run. It is better to be feared than loved because love is usually a chosen emotion. We tend to choose who we love but something will usually provoke us to fear someone. Love is at our own choice, and fear is at the Prince s choice. When a leader is loved, he has to make everyone happy to try and keep that love going, which usually cannot happen no matter how hard one tries. Although these systems all work together with one common goal, to maintain homeostasis, perhaps there are not two systems that work more closely together than the respiratory system and the cardiovascular system. Although the entirety of each body system has a generalized common goal, these two systems share a relationship. The both focus on providing oxygen to the blood, and then ensuring that this richly oxygenated blood is circulated throughout the body. The whole human organism would fail if it lacked just one of these systems, and the individual systems would fail without each other. To fully understand how the two work together, one must fully realize the functions of each system apart. • 39. A Lower Metabolic Cost But With The Higher Forces During... 1. How is there a lower metabolic cost but with the higher forces during eccentric contraction? During an eccentric contraction, the muscle lengthens under tension due to an opposing force that is greater than the force being produced by the muscle (Lindstedt et al. 2001). Eccentric contractions require little metabolic energy, however they are characterized by a high production of force (Semmler 2014). Fick observed that a lengthening muscle contraction could exert more force than a shortening muscle contraction, while Hill later observed that the body has a lower energy demand when contracting eccentrically compared to concentrically (Lindstedt et al. 2001). When the force applied is larger than the force that is created, work is done on the lengthened muscle and mechanical energy is absorbed this is called negative work (Lindstedt et al. 2001). This absorbed energy can either be dissipated as heat, or it can be temporarily stored as elastic recoil potential energy for later use (Lindstedt et al. 2001). 2. What is a force EMG relationship and why is there a tight coupling of these two parameters? The EMG signal that is observed through the placement of electrodes on the skin is closely coupled with the generation of muscle force.
