Jennie Finch Research Paper
One of the most well know players of all time is Jennie Finch. Finch, like many great players,
started playing the game very early on in her life at the age of five. Just a mere three years later
she pitched her first ball. During Finch s high school career she was known for being an athletic
girl. Her senior year she was Captain of her volleyball team, basketball team, and softball team.
Finch lettered in softball in all of her high schoolyears and most recently in 2016 Finch s high
school, La Mirada, retired her jersey number, the first time for a softball player. In 1998, Finch
started collegeat the University of Arizona, which is a division 1 softball program that have claimed

Jennie Finch was apart of the USA Softball team in the 2004 summer Olympics held in Athens,
Greece. Finch went on to pitch brilliantly by striking out 13 batters in eight innings while giving
up only one hit, one walk and no runs. Finch had a 2 0 win loss record which helped the USA
secured the gold medal once defeating Australia in the final round. Finch again in 2008 would
represent her country in the final time due to softball and baseball being dropped from the
Olympics. In Beijing Finch again pitched quite well pitching four no hit innings in an 11 0
victory over Venezuela, pitching 5 shutout innings in a 7 0 victory over Chinese Taipei, and two
more shutout innings in a 9 0 victory over China. Unfortunately the USA wasn t able to secure
the gold medal for the 4th time because of their loss to Japan 3 1 in the final game. Finch is
currently an advocate for softball to return to the Olympics by promoting how it tests so many
athletic abilities, from hand eye coordination, to speed, to agility, to quickness and how it deserves

Memorial Dbq
For famous men have the whole earth as their memorial (Pericles). Memorials are an icon to
represent some historical events that have happened or even people who have made a significant
impact on society. For example, they symbolize many things that had happened in the past and
people could go there and remember some good things that it has caused. People can even go there
and pay tribute to the person the memorialis about. There are three sources that show the importance
of memorials and why they should be built.
Source A (Savage) states that memorials are important to some people of our nation. For example,
in Source A (Savage), the author states that In this way the monumental core in Washington
functions somewhat like a pilgrimage site, where communities of believers actually come together
in the act of occupying a holy site, seeing a relic, reenacting a sacred event (Kirk Savage). Some
people go to the memorials in Washington D.C. to get a sense of how important that person was.
Also, they go there to remember the family members ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in Source G, the author says that The use of names was a way to bring back
everything someone could remember about that person (Maya Lin). Sometimes, the strength in
the name would make people wonder about the abstractions of that design. The ability of a name
could bring back so many memories of a person that you know or loved. Seeing the names on the
wall of the people who were killed makes it all real to those who didn t live through that time and it
also etches those names in history until the end of time. Our name is important to us. It is
important to always remember the names of the people who sacrificed everything for us. The need
for the names to be on the memorial would become the memorial; there was no need to embellish
the design further. The people and their names would allow everyone to respond and remember.

Atticus Moral Courage
The word courage may conjure up the typical images of soldiers fighting a war or firefighters
saving houses. While these are courageous acts, they represent merely one type of courage. In To
Kill A Mockingbird Harper Lee showcases an alternative type of courage, moral courage, through
two main characters and their selfless but righteous actions. Throughout the book, Atticus is
illustrated as a compassionate and intellectual man, withholding high standards and morals. These
same morals drive Atticus to selflessly defend Tom Robinson. He does this despite knowing he s
got everything to lose from taking the case (Lee pg.146). Furthermore, Atticus is aware of the jury
s bias and the likely conviction, but if he didn t try to defend Tom, he couldn t... Show more content

Living in a revolutionary time, Lee undoubtedly witnessed moral courage as numerous civil rights
activists fought for equality. One iconic activist, that is the epitome of moral courage, is Rosa
Parks. In 1955, six years prior to the publication of To Kill A Mockingbird, Rosa Parks fearlessly
refused to give up her seat for a white person. Fully aware of the negative repercussions she could
face for this, she still defended her morals. In fact she faced continued harassment and threats in the
wake of her boycott but this did not deter her from living in alignment of her principles
(History.com Staff). Furthermore, she defended her beliefs because she tired of giving in ,
demonstrating how this action required tremendous will power and bravery (History.com Staff).

Dynamic web application is developed and deployed to provide immediate services and increase

categories are as follows: how to annoy people in restaurants, chat rooms, while driving, and in the
grocery store. Also explored are annoying your roommate, your neighbors, public bathroom stall
mates, your teacher or professor, and the police.
The following are guaranteed ways to annoy at your favorite restaurant: Decline to be seated and

your bright lights for oncoming traffic. Be careful you do not do this to a police officer or you
will surely be pulled over at which time you should refer to the police section later in this paper.
Pull up alongside someone while driving on the freeway and gesture violently indicating that they

Operation Desert Storm By James Davidson Hunter
In the beginning of the article we are given a visual of a country in economic ruin as Ronald
Reagan begins his presidency. James Davidson Hunter wrote the article to give readers a greater
insight, from a seemingly unbiased and constructive viewpoint. Throughout history each American
era has been consumed by different ideals and viewpoints. These viewpoints can either bring a
nation together or destroy them. Different groups have affected different decisions. A president s
job is to remain objective and to listen to the citizens as well as make some hard decisions that
are in their best interests. Many groups have been and will continue to be affected, It is this face
the face of a pervasive anxiety about the future that seeks some modicum of control in the culture
wars (page 3).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the president or government makes a decision that benefits or positively affects one group,
that group will support them. The other groups will complain and protest. This has happened a lot
with many different groups. James Davidson Hunter discusses how even though Ronald Reagan
was able to restore a the people crumbling pride in America by uniting them all using one common
enemy. George Bush s tactics were similar when he united the people because of Saddam Hussein,
Once again, the American public responded, greeting Operation Desert Storm with a frenzy of
patriotism... (page1). Despite these well intentioned decisions, when something goes wrong the
American public can be quite harsh and unforgiving. Rightfully so because when things backfire it
tends to greatly affect the public more than the government, These other faces look inward,

The Pedestrian By Leonard Mead
The Light in the Dark In any given situation, individuals experience conflicts when pursuing a
personal desire as particular desires do not conform to the rules that societies standardize for
individuals. Individuals quickly adapt to the modernization of the advancement of humanity and
technology. Nevertheless, there may be a controversy deciding between obeying society s
regulations of consistently keeping up with the innovative contemporary behaviour or sticking with
subjective or independent aspirations. In the short story The Pedestrian by Ray Bradbury, Leonard
Mead s complication between pursuing his personal desire and choosing to conform creates an
issue with the development as an individual. Symbols within the story that further highlighted the
distinct difference between personal desires and deciding to conform include Mr. Mead s shoes,
television, and the houses. Moreover, each symbol that was stated demonstrates a diverse
idiosyncratic characteristic about the protagonist as does the psychological components of Mr.
Mead such as word choice, speech, behaviour and mental processes. However, throughout the story,
the protagonist, Mr. Leonard Mead is exemplified through a third person limitedpoint of view as it
gradually illuminates the understanding that society s need for conformation and an individual s
needs may produce a consequential disagreement of discrepancy. Ray Bradbury s short story
suggest that conflicts between pursuing a personal desire and

Poetry Form Essay
Poems are a form of writing with a set meter. Most poems have an end rhyme scheme to
accompany the meter. Poems, like short stories, have symbols. Although short story symbols were
not the easiest to identify, the symbols in poems are sometimes even harder to determine. Poems
also include metaphors, imagery, a certain tone, and always have a set audience. Lyrics are the
most obvious type of poetryto date. A song has a rhythm and when the lyrics are sung to the beat
a poem is created. Lyrics are not the only form of poetry. There are many different forms poetry
can take on. Sonnets are probably the second most known form of poetry. Sonnets are made up of
14 lines, have end rhyme, and have a meter. There are two main forms of a sonnet; Shakespearean
(English) and Petrarchan (Italian).
The Italian sonnet was created by a man named Petrarch in the 14th century. This sonnet is made
up of an octave (8 lines) and a sestet (6 lines) adding up to the sonnets grand total of 14 lines. A
Volta, or dramatic change in the emotion, comes after the octave. The theme of the Petrarchan
sonnet can generally be found within the ending sestet. Two centuries later a new type of sonnet
was born. The Shakespearean sonnet was created by none other than the late William Shakespeare.
The English sonnet is made up of three quatrains (4 lines) and an ending couplet (2 lines) creating
the iconic 14 lines. The Volta comes after the 3rd quatrain leaving the couplet as the space for the
poems theme. Both

Symbolism In Esperanza Rising
Esperanza Ortega of El Rancho de las Rosas is a young Hispanic girl that must overcome
strenuous obstacles in order to help her family. The novel Esperanza Rising by Pam MuГ±oz Ryan
has many symbols that contribute to the theme, but one of the major motifs present is the process
of crocheting the quilt. This symbol lasts throughout the entire book, but the message only gets
stronger for this symbol goes hand in hand with the storyline. Esperanza is an only child in her
family, and during this time it was not acceptable for womanto own land. When Esperanza s papa
gets killed there were no other men in the family, so the land that Esperanza had grew up on and
loved would soon all be taken away, unless her mama sacrificers herself and marries the rude
brother of Esperanza s papa. This idea of men owning land is one main reason why Esperanza s
family must migrate to California. If Esperanza was male, this story would not exist because the
land would be given to her. Since Esperanza is a female, the story has a complication in the plot
that needs to be overcame. This is the first obstacle that Esperanza must triumph over: leaving home
to somewhere unknown. Throughout the book Esperanza, mama, and abuelita work on crocheting
a quilt. The crocheting of this quilt has a special process that relates greatly to the journey
Esperanza takes. In order to crochet like abuelita you must add ten stitches up to the top of the
mountain. Add one stitch. Nine stitches down to the bottom of the valley. Skip one (MuГ±oz Ryan
14). During the novelEsperanza has to climb to the top of mountains and go down to the bottom of
valleys in order to complete her journey. The novel begins with Esperanza at the top of a beautiful
mountain, but when her papa dies, her house gets burned down, abuelita getting hurt, and they have
to migrate to California Esperanza is at the lowest point in the valley. She sees all that is ahead, but
in her eyes it is a huge mountain that needs to be climbed. This will be a long strenuous journey
with many more obstacles, but Esperanza is stronger than she knows. The crochet technique of
making mountains and valleys applies greatly to everything that Esperanza goes through on her
migration to California.

New York Public Library Essay
INTRODUCTION
The New York Public Library is one of the most revered institutions of a city with many competing
interests. To stand out of the crowd is a tough and serious task. Embodied in the Beaux Art building
on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Forty Second Street in Manhattan, the flagship building is
synonymous with everything that makes New York City, a world class metropolis, known the world

as famous as the institution, which they guard itself. These lions have witnessed many a parades,

Social Class Analysis
When trying to establish ones self in society we are typically concerned with what kind of social
class or rank we fall into. In society, people attempt to define themselves according to specific
social class by what kind of things they own or how they may act. The theory of conspicuous
consumption coined by the Norwegian American economist and sociologist Thorstein Veblen can
help realize a further understanding in social classes and how they influence people. In essence,
the overall goal of conspicuous consumption is to demonstrate superiority over some other group
of people or social class. Typically when someone is referred to as a redneck it is not exactly a
good thing. When classifying someone under a certain class status we usually consider the things
they buy/own, where they live, how they act,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However even though it can have a great influence, economic status does not solely define
someone s social class. In order to maintain a certain social class one must adhere to a set of
standards set by society for that social class. When considering JD8 s various home improvement
projects, they do not meet the social class qualifications that the author believes he and the rest of
the people that live in the neighborhood belong to. For JD8, it does not matter if his home
improvement project has a positive or negative effect on the appearance of his home but just rather
does the end result of the project do what it is supposed to do. Though for the author appearance is
just as important as functionality as well. According to Erving Goffman, cultivation restrictions are
where the difference in opinion between JD8 and the author lie. In the sense of sophistication of
furnishings, JD8 s home improvement projects do not meet the tastes of the author and therefor

Excessive Pride In Macbeth
In Shakespeare s play Macbeth, Macbeth portrays a person whose pride eventually takes them
down. His pride is encouraged by his success in battle and by three witches who try to manipulate
Macbeth by prophesizing that he will soon be king. Macbeth becomes so power hungry as a result
of the witches prophecy that he kills the current king Duncanfor the throne, and kills his close
friend Banquo and the family of Macduff in order to keep the throne after he becomes paranoid
that he will be killed for his mistakes. Macbethencompasses the elements of a Greek tragedy:
hamartia, a fatal flaw, anagnorisis, a critical discovery made by the character, and catharsis, the
realization and acceptance of the character s fate. These elements are present throughout the play
and bring to light the fact that an excessive amount of pride can lead to a person s downfall.... Show

Pathophysiology Of Postoprative Hypovolaemia And The Body...
1.Pathophysiology of Postoprative Hypovolaemia and the body s compensation mechanisms:
Presented with the post operative assessments of Mr. George Jensen who suffered from an open
fracture of his right tibia and fibula and underwent an Open Reduction and External Fixation
procedure, a nurse can tell that he is experiencing post operative Hypovolaemia.
Hypovolaemia pertains to an abnormal loss of blood volume and body fluid. It is a life threatening
condition brought on by low blood venous return to the heart that results to decreased Cardiac
Output (CO), leading to a lack of adequate circulatory filling, reduced organ blood flow and organ
damage (Brown Edwards, 2013; Craft, Gordon, Huether, Tiziani, McCance, Brashers, 2013;
Plenderleith, 2007).
There are numerous factors responsible for the onset of hypovolaemia. But among the most
common causes and relevant to Mr. Jensen are:
oHaemorrhage from trauma, or surgery. It is the common cause of body fluid loss, and it may be
internal or external. In the limbs, a considerable amount of blood can be lost to a fractured tibia
(Page McKinney, 2012, p.157).
A patient who undergoes surgery such as an open reduction external fixation fracture under general
anaesthesia can futher have an estimated blood loss in volume of 200cc, as suggested by
Mendelson, Kates, Pacos, Clark, Wu (2011, p. 3).
oDehydration that can be a result not just of poor fluid intake but also of badly managed Type 2

Russell On Denoting
On Denoting and Definite Descriptions: Russell s Puzzle Solutions In his work, On Denoting ,
Bertrand Russell proposes a theory of denoting and descriptions, which he summarizes as follows:
Everything, nothing, and something, are not assumed to have any meaning in isolation, but a
meaning is assigned to every proposition in which they occur. This is the principle of the theory of
denoting I wish to advocate: that denoting phrases never have any meaning in themselves, but that
every proposition in whose verbal expression they occur has a meaning. (480) Russell contends that
the difficulties concerning denoting are [...] all the result of a wrong analysis of propositions whose
verbal expressions contain denoting phrases (480). In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In considering this puzzle, Russell first introduces the principle of the indiscernibility of identicals
(hereafter the indiscernibility principle), which states that [i]f a is identical to b, whatever is true of
the one is true of the other, and either may be substituted for the other in any proposition without
altering the truth or falsehood of that proposition (485). That is, two identical entities can be used
interchangeably in any statement without altering the truth value of the statement in question.
Russell then sets forth the proposition George VI wished to know whether Scott was the author
of Waverly and concludes that, since Scott was in fact the author of Waverly, one can replace the
author of Waverly with Scott and thereby prove that George VI wished to know whether Scott was
Scott (485). Under the indiscernibility principle, both propositions are true since the terms the
author of Waverly and Scott are identical and thus wholly substitutable for one another. However,
while Russell finds the first proposition to be true ( George VI wished to know whether Scott was
the author of Waverly ), Russell concludes that the second proposition, George VI wished to know
whether Scott was Scott , is false due to the fact that an interest in the law of identity can hardly be
attributed to George VI (485). Herein lies the Substitutivity Puzzle. The

Modernism is a set of cultural arrays and tendencies of associated cultural movements in a

Obstacles In Ralph Marston s The Daily Motivator
People face obstacles every day: the unbearable coworker, federal income taxes, and tupperware
with no matching lids. Pressing issues such as these already contribute enough stress to life as it
is, but for some, the obstacle is themselves. Whether this be because of guilt, poor self esteem, or
mental illness, it is important to realize the toxicity of this dynamic and prevent it, as it can lead
to serious consequences even more daunting than those of plastic wares. Ralph Marston, the
writer of The Daily Motivator, states that because of the pressures that many people face each
day, it s important to avoid this type of relationship with oneself. Despite how difficult it can be
for some to do so and the failure some meet, Marston s point holds extreme validity and could

accounting is necessary because it gives a better explanation of expenses accrued annually. Cost

instance hospitals need equipment. After buying brand new equipment over the years it will
depreciate in value. The reported value will be known as a net book value because of the change
in cost over time (Finkler, Kovner, and amp;, 2007). Objective evidence Due to mishaps with the
cost principle and inconsistency of the balance sheet, objective evidence is used. Objective
evidence is providing proof objectively of financially statements and expenses by different groups
of individuals that are expected to agree (Finkler, Kovner, amp; Jones, 2007). If a patient leaves the
hospital with a device or surgery, knowing how much in value the organization spent on the patient
assets can help determine the precise amount spent to receive it. Materiality Materiality relates to
errors or discrepancies within the financial information. Having a hospital to partner with another
hospital and ask for help financial can affect the partnership if the financial information is unclear

The Functions Of Mass Media
1.Linkage
One of the functions of mass media is linkage. Mass media is able to join different elements of
society that are not directly connected. For example, mass advertising attempts to link the needs
of buyers with the products of sellers. Legislators may try to keep in touch with constituent s
feelings by reading their hometown papers. Voters learn about the doings of their elected officials
through newspapers, TV, radio and websites. Another type of linkage occurs when geographically
separated groups that share a common interest are linked by the media. The dating services such
as Facebook, eBay online auction site enable people who want to buy or sell items link up. There
is however hate sites on the internet that terrorist use to spread propaganda and recruit new
members. For example, newspapers generate opinion; develop feeling for whatever happenings are
reported. Advertising through mass media links together the needs of buyers with the products of
sellers. It is also possible that media can create new social and professional groups by linking
together the people of same interest. This function is also called public making ability of the mass
media. For example, people interested in geography, science, environment form a group and this
phenomenon may account for the growth of some movement. In this way, media become a bridge
between different groups who may or not may not direct connection.

Psychodynamic Approach And The Existential Approach
Psychotherapy and counselling are inseparable. The effectiveness of a counselling program is not
just based on the connectedness and interaction between a therapist and a client, but also the
framework of the counselling approach in helping the client improving his mental health or
overcoming personal problems. There are an extensive number of psychotherapies developed by
past researchers, with each therapeutic concept offering unique contributions in understanding
human behaviour and useful implications for counselling practice (Bedi et al., 2011). Among
these therapeutic approaches are the psychodynamic approach and the existential approach. An
example of existential approach psychotherapy is the person centred therapy that was introduced
by Carl Rogers in the 1940s. Person centred therapy (PCT) focuses on the quality of the person to
person therapeutic relationship; it places faith and gives responsibility to the client in dealing with
problems and concerns (Corey, 2009, p. 30). On the other hand, for the psychodynamic approach,
Sigmund Freud, the core founder of this approach developed psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is a
therapy aimed to treat mental disorder. It is a set of techniques for treating the unconscious causes
of mental disorders; as well as to explain the underlying factors of how human personality and
abnormality develop from childhood (Corey, 2009, p. 30). This paper examines the similarities and
differences between psychoanalytic therapy and

A Lone Wolf Vs The Pack
A Lone Wolf vs the Pack It is common to see wolves work in pack in order to hunt down their
prey, however the lone wolf who often works alone has become an icon to describe the tension
between individuals that work together in organizations against those who work alone. In Wendell
Berry s essay, God, Science and Imagination, he discusses the differences between two dominant
arguing groups, the fundamentalists of science and the fundamentalists of religion. Berry describes
the intentions of each of these minds as one that, needs to humiliate its opponents, in order to
establish credibility for their individual theories and ideas. The tension between the two groups can
be similarly seen in Susan Blackmore s essay, Strange Creatures,... Show more content on

Kurt Cobain s Influence On The Music Industry
Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20th, 1967 and died on April 5th, 1994. In his
lifetime, he gave a voice to many young people who didn t think they had one, contributed most to
the popularization of the Grunge genre, and had a lasting impact on the music industry. Known as
the spokesman for a broken generation , he was looked up to by many young people around the
world. It was him that sparked the wave of many underground, local or well known grungebands all
across America and Europe that goes on until today. As for the music industry; Kurt Cobain
basically made alternative rockinto a sub genre that had its own niche which made Billboard
recognize it as what brings independent music together.

It was without a doubt their most successful album and what brought the experimentation and
untraditional loud noise making to the masses. It was only as successful as it was because it was
perceived to be unique and it was perceived to be its own brand of catchy. Hard rock today still
relies a good deal on drawing crude sonic inspiration from Nirvana s dynamic and emotionally
volatile output (Ramirez, 2014, par 5). However, it was their debut album Bleach that
established the loud random noises as their trademark. After it was released, many garage bands
began to do so much as noises of screeching pickups on their instruments to knocking over
amplifiers at their live sets. Kurt Cobain s success had been a breakthrough for bands in
Portland, Chapel Hill, Omaha, and countless other places that had been off the radar of the
industry. (Cross, 2014, p.22). The energy still fuelled concert acts such as moshing and crowd
surfing, but it also served as a different kind of outlet for personal frustration. This is the one
aspect that isn t given enough stature: How Nirvana and co. helped reclaim the inclusiveness of
music. Going to a show and being yourself, or realising you could start a band without having to

The Milgram Obedience Study
Throughout history, many individuals have followed cruel leaders such as Adolf Hitler, Idi
Amin Dada, Leopold II of Belgium, who are responsible for a combined total of over 19,000,000
casualties (McLeod, Mishkov). A leader is supposed to be a person with confidence, skills,
knowledge, and power; however Adolf Hitler was a corrupt leader who was able to convince the
Germans that all Jews were bad and that all negative things happen because of the Jews. Adolf
Hitler was even able to reinterpret the Bible and make the Germans believe he was right. Humans
more easily obey a leader who is older, has a high education, and has authoritative power.
Another example is the The Milgram Obedience Studies (1963 1965). The Milgram
Obedience study was a experiment help by Stanley Milgram, subjects were told that they were
participating in a study on the effect of punishment on memory. One participant in the study the
learner ( Mr. Wallace real name Bob McDonough) was a confederate of Milgram and one was the

answer. The teachers were given a shock of 45 volts to convince them that the shocks were real. The
learner s response to the questions is scripted. At 150 volts the learner is heard asking that the
experiment stop. If the teacher denied continuing the experiment, the experimenter would say

settle and invoice the transaction between the country s issue and other countries or other and other.
There are many benefits to the own country when their currency is used as international and reserve
currency. That is why all countries want their own currency to become common currency. At recent,
Dollar is still using as international and reserve currency; however, many business experts expect
that may be changed in the near future when China s economy is developing fast and becoming the

Persuasive Essay On Internet Censorship
With the advent of the World Wide Web in 1989, people across the world gained access to an ever
increasing well of information. Access to this information could be at risk, however, with
increasing amounts of censorship arising in nations across the world. Internet censorship is when
groups attempt to prevent users from accessing certain information that they decided is unnecessary
or wrong to view. The censorshipusers are subject to is important to acknowledge as it can affect
access to content and the amount of content created, as well as potentially preventing discussion,
even for non controversial topics. There are several ways you could approach the topic of internet
censorship, all of which have differing degrees of success in their methods of attack and lasting
effects on the internet ecosystem. The best solution is to take more of a laissez faire approach and
scale back the amount of censorship currently present, allowing users to govern themselves, instead
of trying to enforce rules put in place by a governing entity or private company, or trying to reach a
middle ground on what should or should not be censored.
In the earlier years of the internet, many called it the wild west of the modern era. A place where
anything went, and users governed themselves by coming up with rules that applied to their group,
be it in a forum or in an online chat room. For the first seven years the world wide web existed this
was the only form of control users had on content, and many did just fine this way. In 1996,
however, the US Government started ramping up on content restrictions, enacting the
Communications Decency Act, which prohibited indecent discussion online, as well as the Child
Pornography Prevention Act, which extended the reaches of anti child pornography laws that
existed already by stating that any content that depicted what appeared to be a minor in a sexual
situation would be considered illegal. These laws did not last, however, with both of them being
mostly struck down in 1997 and 2002 respectively. In more recent history, the US House of
Representatives and the Senate tried to pass the Stop Online Piracy Act and the PROTECT IP Act
, or SOPA and PIPA respectively, in the closing months of

Measuring Populairty of NHL Franchises
I will be examining Forbes s list of most expensive NHL franchises based on data collected up
until the 2013 2014 season. This particular form of popular culture is the National Hockey League
or the professional ice hockey sport. This is an important topic to examine, because these are multi
million dollar (in some cases billion dollar) organizations/franchises where lots of revenue is made
daily, affecting the North American economy greatly. Although some teams are worth much more
then others, how well the team performs doesn t directly affect the teams overall worth, rather time
spent in the league, and location of each given team act as the biggest factors.
The National Hockey League team evaluation chart designed by Forbes measures the current
value of each of the 30 respective teams in the league. This number is found after calculating each
clubs overall revenue, minus the overall expenses of the club. The next column shows the 1 year
value change in a percentile number form, and this number is basically representing how much
increased revenue each given team has generated since last years chart. For the first time in a
decade, each National Hockey League club s revenue actually increased since last year. The next
column indicates the percentage of debt each team has to pay off. This includes any money that
each team owes, and the main percentage of this number is generated off of arena expenses. The
next column in the chart represents the total amount of revenue each

The Effects Of Fitness Training On Vo2 Max And Vco2 Max

The Effects of Fitness Training on VO2 max and VCO2 Max
Abstract:
Mammals consume oxygen and produce carbon dioxide as part of their metabolism process in
order to maintain body functions. This occurs at all times, both rest and during intense work, within
mammals. During times of greater work, skeletal muscles work harder than they do at rest. This in
turn increases their metabolic rate and results in a greater demand for oxygen. It has been proposed
that fitness training has a positive effect on both the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, which
effect the maximum oxygen consumption rate during intense exercise periods. I hypothesize that
individuals who aerobically exercise a minimum of at least 7 hours per week will have increased
fitness, which will maximize their overall metabolic rates and give them higher VO2 max and
VCO2 max values than individuals who do not have increased fitness. Ten males having different
fitness levels were put on stationary bikes at increasing levels until exhaustion and VO2 max and
VCO2 max was then measured from each individual. It was found that there was a slight upward
trend between fitness VO2max and fitness VCO2max, although this trend was not statistically
significant when represented by the T test values through statistical analysis. Further experiments
should be done in the future to verify a statistically significant correlation.

Bias And Stereotyping
Bias and stereotyping can both be harmful for self esteem and the developmental process in
children. Bias is not only harmful for the target group since it lowers the self esteem, but the group
who feels superiority over the other is also harmed. The feeling of being superior disconnects a
person from reality. Too much of self esteemreduces the appreciation of others and may even slow
down progress for the beholder. Stereotyping creates preconceived notions in the minds of children
and adults due to which they fail to see others for what they actually are and rather judge them on
the basis of information that is misguided and obsolete. Stereotyping results in developing strong
perspectives of people who are different and causes prejudice.

God s Speech On God Essay
God gave us the bible so that we can understand rational truths with our mind and know what to
believe. He teaches us how to Worship by painting a picture of the world through his eyes. He
teaches us about ourselves, eternity, why we are here on Earth, and how to know right from wrong
so we can Worship the greatness that is him. Godhas given us many commands like in Matthew
22: 37 39 to follow but we should take the teaching and understand the relationship that is
presented between us and the Worship of him. God wants us to experience him and his world.
By understanding God s invitation to know him better we learn not only more about him, but
more about ourselves. We learn what sins to avoid, what parts of our lives need to be changed,
how we can love others through him, and what are his plans and purpose for our lives thorough
him are. To Worship becomes lessons on how to live a fulfilled life that we could never
accomplish without him like in Psalm 19: 7 8; and Corinthians 5:17.
Worship must be sincere and selfless. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD
made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary .
Psalms 96:5 6. This illustrates how we must not worship God because of the wealth He
possesses. We must worship him because He is the Lord almighty. Worship is not sincere if it is
done to only benefit your personal wellbeing. It is having a selfless desire deep within ones soul to
give up everything to God,

Post Conquest Mexico Essay

resulting in the Spanish occupation and rebuilding of Tenochtitlan. The reshaping of the city was

the satisfying victory of the conquest. In order to determine these various challenges involved in
post conquest Mexico, one must assess the various feats CortГ©s struggled through as well as
Carlos I s attempts to deal with the chaos in Mexico. The most decisive endeavours that the
Spaniards faced included: fixing a city of ruins, incorporating the indigenous peoples into society,
and creating a Christian basis throughout the land. Thus, post conquest Mexico faced a magnitude

However, unlike the Transition Economies, Turkey embarked on a prospective plan to privatise a
major part of the public sector in the mid 80 s and laws enacting and enabling the privatisation of
the State Owned Enterprises (SOE) in late 1985, was an important breakthrough. In the 1990 s
privatisation went ahead but caused disappointment in many sectors. Most privatised firms could
not improve their performance and some that succeeded, had been profitable already as SOEs. But
that was not the only problem the country had to face. Turkey had already begun to face significant
problems regarding the Privatisation Policy in the 1990 s. These mentioned problems not only
aroused from the aggregate demand concerning the SOE, and the negative effect of investment but
the ongoing debate carried by the opposing political parties in the Parliament.
The governments have overcome several difficulties and successfully resumed privatisation in the
beginning of the second decade. Though the outcome was promising, the program proceeded more
slowly than the original plan. In 1993 for example, a net revenue of US$ 543 millions was raised
through several privatised firms including two electric companies, two communications equipment
manufacturers, a supermarket chain and four cement factories. In 1994 a total of approximately
US$ 412 million was

National Security Agency
The National Security Agency
Many have wondered why America is so great and one of those reasons is because of the NSA.
The National Security Agency was founded on November 4, 1952 and continues today. The NSA is
an intelligence organization of the United States government, responsible for global monitoring,
collection, and processing of information. There are many different opinions about the NSA and the
work that they do. The National Security Agency is, in fact, a good thing because it provides
national security and supports the military.
Without the NSA, our country could face some major issues such as the middle eastern countries
and many more. It protects us from terrorism and everything that comes with it. In 2014 an article
was released describing that the NSA has stopped fifty four terrorist attacks with mass spying. One
example of when this happened was, The case of Najibullah Zazi who confessed to ... Show more

Evidence has shown that the NSA can and has done many good things for the United States. Many
argue that the NSA invades our personal rights. The NSA protects citizens private information
using the custom database software called Cloudbase, which has fine grained security to control
access down to the cell level(nsa.gov1 2). If the NSA can access our information than enemies
could just as easily do the same but thanks to the NSA, we don t have to worry about that
because they are the ones who keep our information protected. The National Security Agency is,
in fact, a good thing because it provides national security and supports the military. Instead of
being negative and upset with the NSA, we should be more grateful that we live in a country
where we don t have to worry about civil wars, terrorism, or anything else of that effect. America
is what it is and we should be proud to live in the land of the free and home of the

Sam, George, And Rameck s The Pact
Davis, Sampson, Jenkins, George, and Hunt, Rameck. The Pact. Chicago: Penguin, 2002 Print.
First, Dr. Sam, George, and Rameck were born in poor families. They grew up in poor, broken
homes in New Jersey neighborhoods riddled with crime, drugs, and death. Dr. George said, Most
kids, rich or poor, spend more time with their friends than with their parents. , They re together all
day at school. , They re together in the neighborhood after school. , And they re together on the
weekends. , Maybe they even spend their summers together at summer camp. . So that means
friends are really affecting their lives. It is really important to hang out with the right people,
which friends should deal with?, and which should not? Like Dr. George didn t want to be in
trouble, so he had to hang out with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sam, George, and Rameck studied in University High together. Dr. George met Dr. Sam in the
seventh grade. They realized they liked the same things: baseball, basketball, video games, Nike
sneakers, and the latest fashion in clothes. They did their work in school, but they were not
nerds. They often ended up sitting next to each other, learning lessons together, sharing candy
and stories about their lives and the happenings in their neighborhoods. By the end of the
seventh grade, Dr. George and Dr. Sam had become pretty good friends and were hanging out
regularly during lunch. They played basketball, sat outside under the trees and played cards, or
just sat outside under the cafeteria, banged out a beat on the table, and rapped. Dr. George and
Dr. Sam participated in their first graduation ceremony together after completing the eighth grade.
Dr. Rameck arrived the next year, but they didn t become close friends with him until their junior
year. Dr.Sam and Dr. Rameck became friends first. Dr. Sam and Dr. Rameck often got together on
Friday nights and weekends for parties and dates. Dr. Sam picked Dr. George up sometimes, and he
got to know Dr. Rameck through

The Process Of Manufacture Is Different Per Company
The process of manufacture is different per company and varies greatly between not only
company but cheeses as there are so many variables which can be used to alter the moisture,
colour, texture and taste of a cheese. Bega has a simplified version which is easier to understand
and eliminates much of the jargon normally used.
The milk is milked from the dairy cattle either by a robotic or semi automatic system. This milk is
stored at 4В°c until the tests have been carried out to determine the quality of the milk and what
type of cheese this would best fit. Once these tests have been carried out to ensure the quality and
the safety of the milk then the first step is standardisation . This is where the components (protein
and fat) are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pasteurisation is the sterilisation step which is required by legislation to ensure that all
pathogenic bacteria are killed to make the milk and any bi products safe for human
consumption. The process of pasteurisation is that of the milk being heated to a minimum of 72
75В°c (depending on the company) for at least 15 seconds. This kills off the harmful pathogenic
bacteria. This process is done in a way so that the milk may be heated without burning the milk
which would cause a taste and colour change. The milk passes through a series of plates under
pressure; these plates are heated by steam that is used to heat water and in turn heat the plates.
This in turn heats the milk to the desired temperature to complete pasteurisation. To cool the milk
without freezing the milk, the process is similar but a complete polar opposite. The milk is put
through another series of plates that are cooled by chilled water that in turn cools the milk to a
set temperature . The cooling to a set temperature is done prior to being added to the cheese
making vats. The vats typically may have a capacity of 14,000 litres each but may vary between
each manufacturing site. By the time the last vat, usually the eighth) is filled then the first will
have been emptied (the milk used), washed and is ready to fill again so that there is always milk
ready to use at any time rather than all being ready to use at the same time.

Memorials are an icon to represent some historical events that have happened or even people who have made a significant impact on society. For example, they symbolize many things that had happened in the past and people could go there and remember some good things that it has caused. People can even go there and pay tribute to the person the memorialis about. There are three sources that show the importance of memorials and why they should be built. Source A (Savage) states that memorials are important to some people of our nation. For example, in Source A (Savage), the author states that In this way the monumental core in Washington functions somewhat like a pilgrimage site, where communities of believers actually come together in the act of occupying a holy site, seeing a relic, reenacting a sacred event (Kirk Savage). Seeing the names on the wall of the people who were killed makes it all real to those who didn t live through that time and it also etches those names in history until the end of time. Our name is important to us. It is important to always remember the names of the people who sacrificed everything for us. • 8. Operation Desert Storm By James Davidson Hunter In the beginning of the article we are given a visual of a country in economic ruin as Ronald Reagan begins his presidency. James Davidson Hunter wrote the article to give readers a greater insight, from a seemingly unbiased and constructive viewpoint. Throughout history each American era has been consumed by different ideals and viewpoints. These viewpoints can either bring a nation together or destroy them. Different groups have affected different decisions. A president s job is to remain objective and to listen to the citizens as well as make some hard decisions that are in their best interests. The Pedestrian By Leonard Mead The Light in the Dark In any given situation, individuals experience conflicts when pursuing a personal desire as particular desires do not conform to the rules that societies standardize for individuals. Individuals quickly adapt to the modernization of the advancement of humanity and technology. Nevertheless, there may be a controversy deciding between obeying society s regulations of consistently keeping up with the innovative contemporary behaviour or sticking with subjective or independent aspirations. In the short story The Pedestrian by Ray Bradbury, Leonard Mead s complication between pursuing his personal desire and choosing to conform creates an issue with the development as an individual. Symbols within the story that further highlighted the distinct difference between personal desires and deciding to conform include Mr. Mead s shoes, television, and the houses. Moreover, each symbol that was stated demonstrates a diverse idiosyncratic characteristic about the protagonist as does the psychological components of Mr. Mead such as word choice, speech, behaviour and mental processes. However, throughout the story, the protagonist, Mr. Leonard Mead is exemplified through a third person limitedpoint of view as it gradually illuminates the understanding that society s need for conformation and an individual s needs may produce a consequential disagreement of discrepancy. • 10. Poetry Form Essay Poems are a form of writing with a set meter. Most poems have an end rhyme scheme to accompany the meter. Poems, like short stories, have symbols. Although short story symbols were not the easiest to identify, the symbols in poems are sometimes even harder to determine. Poems also include metaphors, imagery, a certain tone, and always have a set audience. Lyrics are the most obvious type of poetryto date. A song has a rhythm and when the lyrics are sung to the beat a poem is created. Lyrics are not the only form of poetry. There are many different forms poetry can take on. Sonnets are probably the second most known form of poetry. Sonnets are made up of 14 lines, have end rhyme, and have a meter. There are two main forms of a sonnet; Shakespearean (English) and Petrarchan (Italian). The Italian sonnet was created by a man named Petrarch in the 14th century. This sonnet is made up of an octave (8 lines) and a sestet (6 lines) adding up to the sonnets grand total of 14 lines. A Volta, or dramatic change in the emotion, comes after the octave. The theme of the Petrarchan sonnet can generally be found within the ending sestet. Two centuries later a new type of sonnet was born. The Shakespearean sonnet was created by none other than the late William Shakespeare. The English sonnet is made up of three quatrains (4 lines) and an ending couplet (2 lines) creating the iconic 14 lines. The Volta comes after the 3rd quatrain leaving the couplet as the space for the poems theme. Both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Symbolism In Esperanza Rising Esperanza Ortega of El Rancho de las Rosas is a young Hispanic girl that must overcome strenuous obstacles in order to help her family. The novel Esperanza Rising by Pam MuГ±oz Ryan has many symbols that contribute to the theme, but one of the major motifs present is the process of crocheting the quilt. This symbol lasts throughout the entire book, but the message only gets stronger for this symbol goes hand in hand with the storyline. Esperanza is an only child in her family, and during this time it was not acceptable for womanto own land. When Esperanza s papa gets killed there were no other men in the family, so the land that Esperanza had grew up on and loved would soon all be taken away, unless her mama sacrificers herself and marries the rude brother of Esperanza s papa. This idea of men owning land is one main reason why Esperanza s family must migrate to California. If Esperanza was male, this story would not exist because the land would be given to her. Since Esperanza is a female, the story has a complication in the plot that needs to be overcame. This is the first obstacle that Esperanza must triumph over: leaving home to somewhere unknown. Throughout the book Esperanza, mama, and abuelita work on crocheting a quilt. The crocheting of this quilt has a special process that relates greatly to the journey Esperanza takes. In order to crochet like abuelita you must add ten stitches up to the top of the mountain. Add one stitch. Nine stitches down to the bottom of the valley. Skip one (MuГ±oz Ryan 14). During the novelEsperanza has to climb to the top of mountains and go down to the bottom of valleys in order to complete her journey. The novel begins with Esperanza at the top of a beautiful mountain, but when her papa dies, her house gets burned down, abuelita getting hurt, and they have to migrate to California Esperanza is at the lowest point in the valley. She sees all that is ahead, but in her eyes it is a huge mountain that needs to be climbed. This will be a long strenuous journey with many more obstacles, but Esperanza is stronger than she knows. In essence, the overall goal of conspicuous consumption is to demonstrate superiority over some other group of people or social class. Hypovolaemia pertains to an abnormal loss of blood volume and body fluid. It is a life threatening condition brought on by low blood venous return to the heart that results to decreased Cardiac Output (CO), leading to a lack of adequate circulatory filling, reduced organ blood flow and organ damage (Brown Edwards, 2013; Craft, Gordon, Huether, Tiziani, McCance, Brashers, 2013; Plenderleith, 2007). There are numerous factors responsible for the onset of hypovolaemia. But among the most common causes and relevant to Mr. Jensen are: oHaemorrhage from trauma, or surgery. It is the common cause of body fluid loss, and it may be internal or external. In the limbs, a considerable amount of blood can be lost to a fractured tibia (Page McKinney, 2012, p.157). A patient who undergoes surgery such as an open reduction external fixation fracture under general anaesthesia can futher have an estimated blood loss in volume of 200cc, as suggested by Mendelson, Kates, Pacos, Clark, Wu (2011, p. 3). oDehydration that can be a result not just of poor fluid intake but also of badly managed Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This is the principle of the theory of denoting I wish to advocate: that denoting phrases never have any meaning in themselves, but that every proposition in whose verbal expression they occur has a meaning. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In considering this puzzle, Russell first introduces the principle of the indiscernibility of identicals (hereafter the indiscernibility principle), which states that [i]f a is identical to b, whatever is true of the one is true of the other, and either may be substituted for the other in any proposition without altering the truth or falsehood of that proposition (485). That is, two identical entities can be used interchangeably in any statement without altering the truth value of the statement in question. Russell then sets forth the proposition George VI wished to know whether Scott was the author of Waverly and concludes that, since Scott was in fact the author of Waverly, one can replace the author of Waverly with Scott and thereby prove that George VI wished to know whether Scott was Scott (485). Under the indiscernibility principle, both propositions are true since the terms the author of Waverly and Scott are identical and thus wholly substitutable for one another. However, while Russell finds the first proposition to be true ( George VI wished to know whether Scott was the author of Waverly ), Russell concludes that the second proposition, George VI wished to know whether Scott was Scott , is false due to the fact that an interest in the law of identity can hardly be attributed to George VI (485). Despite how difficult it can be for some to do so and the failure some meet, Marston s point holds extreme validity and could prove to be beneficial when implemented in one s lifestyle. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accountants are able to determine the accrual accounting by focusing on the matching principle (Finkler, Kovner, and Jones, 2007). With the matching principle organizations and businesses are able to record expenses and revenues that were accumulated in the same year to match. Accrual accounting is necessary because it gives a better explanation of expenses accrued annually. Cost principle The cost principle is anything the business or organization purchases to get. For instance hospitals need equipment. After buying brand new equipment over the years it will depreciate in value. The reported value will be known as a net book value because of the change in cost over time (Finkler, Kovner, and amp;, 2007). Objective evidence Due to mishaps with the cost principle and inconsistency of the balance sheet, objective evidence is used. Objective evidence is providing proof objectively of financially statements and expenses by different groups of individuals that are expected to agree (Finkler, Kovner, amp; Jones, 2007). If a patient leaves the hospital with a device or surgery, knowing how much in value the organization spent on the patient assets can help determine the precise amount spent to receive it. Materiality Materiality relates to errors or discrepancies within the financial information. • 22. Psychodynamic Approach And The Existential Approach Psychotherapy and counselling are inseparable. The effectiveness of a counselling program is not just based on the connectedness and interaction between a therapist and a client, but also the framework of the counselling approach in helping the client improving his mental health or overcoming personal problems. There are an extensive number of psychotherapies developed by past researchers, with each therapeutic concept offering unique contributions in understanding human behaviour and useful implications for counselling practice (Bedi et al., 2011). Among these therapeutic approaches are the psychodynamic approach and the existential approach. An example of existential approach psychotherapy is the person centred therapy that was introduced by Carl Rogers in the 1940s. Person centred therapy (PCT) focuses on the quality of the person to person therapeutic relationship; it places faith and gives responsibility to the client in dealing with problems and concerns (Corey, 2009, p. 30). On the other hand, for the psychodynamic approach, Sigmund Freud, the core founder of this approach developed psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is a therapy aimed to treat mental disorder. It is a set of techniques for treating the unconscious causes of mental disorders; as well as to explain the underlying factors of how human personality and abnormality develop from childhood (Corey, 2009, p. 30). However, it was their debut album Bleach that established the loud random noises as their trademark. After it was released, many garage bands began to do so much as noises of screeching pickups on their instruments to knocking over amplifiers at their live sets. Access to this information could be at risk, however, with increasing amounts of censorship arising in nations across the world. Internet censorship is when groups attempt to prevent users from accessing certain information that they decided is unnecessary or wrong to view. The censorshipusers are subject to is important to acknowledge as it can affect access to content and the amount of content created, as well as potentially preventing discussion, even for non controversial topics. There are several ways you could approach the topic of internet censorship, all of which have differing degrees of success in their methods of attack and lasting effects on the internet ecosystem. The best solution is to take more of a laissez faire approach and scale back the amount of censorship currently present, allowing users to govern themselves, instead of trying to enforce rules put in place by a governing entity or private company, or trying to reach a middle ground on what should or should not be censored. In the earlier years of the internet, many called it the wild west of the modern era. A place where anything went, and users governed themselves by coming up with rules that applied to their group, be it in a forum or in an online chat room. For the first seven years the world wide web existed this was the only form of control users had on content, and many did just fine this way. In 1996, however, the US Government started ramping up on content restrictions, enacting the Communications Decency Act, which prohibited indecent discussion online, as well as the Child Pornography Prevention Act, which extended the reaches of anti child pornography laws that existed already by stating that any content that depicted what appeared to be a minor in a sexual situation would be considered illegal. These laws did not last, however, with both of them being mostly struck down in 1997 and 2002 respectively. • 30. The Effects Of Fitness Training On Vo2 Max And Vco2 Max Bryanna Ward #21421728 The Effects of Fitness Training on VO2 max and VCO2 Max Abstract: Mammals consume oxygen and produce carbon dioxide as part of their metabolism process in order to maintain body functions. This occurs at all times, both rest and during intense work, within mammals. During times of greater work, skeletal muscles work harder than they do at rest. This in turn increases their metabolic rate and results in a greater demand for oxygen. It has been proposed that fitness training has a positive effect on both the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, which effect the maximum oxygen consumption rate during intense exercise periods. I hypothesize that individuals who aerobically exercise a minimum of at least 7 hours per week will have increased fitness, which will maximize their overall metabolic rates and give them higher VO2 max and VCO2 max values than individuals who do not have increased fitness. Ten males having different fitness levels were put on stationary bikes at increasing levels until exhaustion and VO2 max and VCO2 max was then measured from each individual. It was found that there was a slight upward trend between fitness VO2max and fitness VCO2max, although this trend was not statistically significant when represented by the T test values through statistical analysis. Further experiments should be done in the future to verify a statistically significant correlation. Introduction: The Human body requires a constant supply of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, unlike the Transition Economies, Turkey embarked on a prospective plan to privatise a major part of the public sector in the mid 80 s and laws enacting and enabling the privatisation of the State Owned Enterprises (SOE) in late 1985, was an important breakthrough. In the 1990 s privatisation went ahead but caused disappointment in many sectors. Most privatised firms could not improve their performance and some that succeeded, had been profitable already as SOEs. But that was not the only problem the country had to face. Turkey had already begun to face significant problems regarding the Privatisation Policy in the 1990 s. These mentioned problems not only aroused from the aggregate demand concerning the SOE, and the negative effect of investment but the ongoing debate carried by the opposing political parties in the Parliament. The governments have overcome several difficulties and successfully resumed privatisation in the beginning of the second decade. Though the outcome was promising, the program proceeded more slowly than the original plan. In 1993 for example, a net revenue of US$ 543 millions was raised through several privatised firms including two electric companies, two communications equipment manufacturers, a supermarket chain and four cement factories. In 1994 a total of approximately US$ 412 million was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evidence has shown that the NSA can and has done many good things for the United States. Many argue that the NSA invades our personal rights. The NSA protects citizens private information using the custom database software called Cloudbase, which has fine grained security to control access down to the cell level(nsa.gov1 2). If the NSA can access our information than enemies could just as easily do the same but thanks to the NSA, we don t have to worry about that because they are the ones who keep our information protected. The National Security Agency is, in fact, a good thing because it provides national security and supports the military. Instead of being negative and upset with the NSA, we should be more grateful that we live in a country where we don t have to worry about civil wars, terrorism, or anything else of that effect. • 45. The Process Of Manufacture Is Different Per Company The process of manufacture is different per company and varies greatly between not only company but cheeses as there are so many variables which can be used to alter the moisture, colour, texture and taste of a cheese. Bega has a simplified version which is easier to understand and eliminates much of the jargon normally used. The milk is milked from the dairy cattle either by a robotic or semi automatic system. This milk is stored at 4В°c until the tests have been carried out to determine the quality of the milk and what type of cheese this would best fit. Once these tests have been carried out to ensure the quality and the safety of the milk then the first step is standardisation . This is where the components (protein and fat) are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pasteurisation is the sterilisation step which is required by legislation to ensure that all pathogenic bacteria are killed to make the milk and any bi products safe for human consumption. The process of pasteurisation is that of the milk being heated to a minimum of 72 75В°c (depending on the company) for at least 15 seconds. This kills off the harmful pathogenic bacteria. This process is done in a way so that the milk may be heated without burning the milk which would cause a taste and colour change. The milk passes through a series of plates under pressure; these plates are heated by steam that is used to heat water and in turn heat the plates. This in turn heats the milk to the desired temperature to complete pasteurisation. To cool the milk without freezing the milk, the process is similar but a complete polar opposite. The milk is put through another series of plates that are cooled by chilled water that in turn cools the milk to a set temperature . The cooling to a set temperature is done prior to being added to the cheese making vats. The vats typically may have a capacity of 14,000 litres each but may vary between each manufacturing site. By the time the last vat, usually the eighth) is filled then the first will have been emptied (the milk used), washed and is ready to fill again so that there is always milk ready to use at any time rather than all being ready to use at the same time.
