How To Start A Compare Contrast Essay
Embarking on the task of crafting an essay on the intricacies of initiating a compare-contrast
essay is akin to navigating a labyrinth of intellectual challenges. The process involves not only
comprehending the nuances of the chosen subject matter but also delving into the art of drawing
meaningful parallels and distinctions between two entities.
To begin with, one must grapple with the daunting task of selecting suitable subjects for
comparison. This requires a keen understanding of the overarching theme and a discerning eye
for identifying elements that can be juxtaposed effectively. The meticulous process of research
follows, demanding an exhaustive exploration of the chosen subjects to gather sufficient material
for the essay. The challenge lies not just in collecting information but in sieving through the
plethora of details to pinpoint those that are most relevant and impactful.
Structuring the essay poses its own set of challenges. Crafting a coherent and engaging
introduction that sets the stage for the comparative analysis, followed by a body that seamlessly
weaves together similarities and differences, demands a strategic approach. The writer must
skillfully balance the scales, ensuring a fair representation of both aspects without tipping the
equilibrium. Transitions between ideas must be seamless, creating a fluid narrative that guides
the reader through the intricacies of the comparison.
Moreover, maintaining a tone that is both analytical and objective adds an additional layer of
complexity. Striking the right balance between presenting factual information and offering
insightful analysis requires finesse. The writer must tread carefully to avoid bias, ensuring a
neutral stance that allows the reader to form their own conclusions based on the presented
evidence.
In conclusion, the arduous journey of crafting an essay on the commencement of a compare-
contrast essay demands intellectual dexterity, meticulous research, and adept writing skills.
However, for those seeking a more streamlined approach or assistance in navigating this
labyrinth of complexities, avenues like HelpWriting.net offer a plethora of resources. Similar
essays and a wealth of other writing services can be effortlessly accessed, providing a helping
hand in the challenging realm of academic composition.

Advanced Psycho-Diagnostic In Children And Adolescents
My learning goals for the Advanced Psycho Diagnostic in Children and Adolescents
course are the following: I am willing to obtain tools, knowledge and experience
related to the assessing process that take place at the beginning of the interview with
parents, children or adolescents in a psychiatric setting. I would like to revisit the
structured elements of how this first intake interview takes place, what are the rules
behind it, the right, selective approach to partake in the scenario, what is the best
professional way of asking questions, dealing with them and what are the most
common errors to avoid. After gaining more knowledge on this matter I am aiming to
learn how to formulate a first strategy, (having already acquired some experience
August Wilson s The Piano Lesson
The Lesson of The Piano Lesson The theater opens, and the train sounds as August
Wilson releases his fourth of ten plays The Piano Lesson, begins. August Wilson
writes this play in order to find the legacy of the piano by using the connections of
domestic drama to explore questions of personal and cultural inheritance (Elam
362). This play becomes the talk of the town, and in 1990 Wilson wins a Pulitzer
Prize for Drama. In August Wilsons play, The PianoLesson, the Reader Response
Theory is apparent because the main action is not centered around music, but instead
the play s focus in based on the history of an African American family during the
early 1900 s through anecdotes, irony, and symbolism. There are various ways

He explains that a man named Robert Sutter owns the Charles family, and Joel

delightful present to his wife Miss Ophelia. He knows he wants to buy the piano,
but Sutter does not have any money. Sutter asks Joel Nolander if he can trade
slaves for the piano. Joel says yes but on one condition: He [wants] to have the pick
of the litter (1.2.409). He chooses Doaker s grandmother and his father who is nine
years of age. The gift pleases Miss Ophelia until she realizes that she misses her
confidant and loyal help. She requests reversing the exchange with Mr. Nolander
who replies that the deal is already done. This results in a huge argument between
the two men and leaves Miss Ophelia ill in bed. To appease Ophelia, who [pins] for

Narrative Essay On Camp Snoopy
The first time going to camp snoopy was a huge deal because I was only 4 years old.
I was with my close family, which are my brothers and cousins, and of course my
mom and grandma. When we were walking into camp snoopy for the first time it
was like a tree in a forest and all I could hear hear squeal of kids screaming, and the
rides rumbling. The first ride we decided to go on was the elegant peanutsswing.
When we got on the swing I felt the chilly metal of the seat and the smooth breeze
of wind blowing into my face. After that we went to the shooting star and at first I
didn t want to go on the shooting star so my cousins went on the shooting star and

When we got in line for the log Chute the sun was still shining, after we got in line
all I heard was water splashing everywhere from the log chute coming down the

abandoned cave, every step it got darker and darker. We advently saw a pinch of
sun before it went away, and then we were first in line. So me, my mom, and Sam
stepped into the log chute. Then we started to float down the stream and then we
took hard right and slowly went the lift and all you could here was click clack,

and we made a massive wave making water go everywhere. Till this day the log

Volkswagen s The Environmental Protection Agency
Volkswagen has found itself entangled in one of the most serious automotive scandals
today. On September 18th, 2015 Volkswagen was accused of installing defective
devices into their V6 diesel automobiles; the cars of Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen,
all owned by Volkswagen AG (Customer Report, customerreports.org) were all
affected. When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was informed of this
allegation, they set out an investigation to see whether this was true or false.
The news broke when the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had
determined that Volkswagenhad installed a defeat device, otherwise known as a
software code used to cheat on emissions tests, on approximately 11 million
vehicles in the US and Germany (Jason Bisnoff, NYDailyNews.com). This device
would enable the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) to be trapped during the testing phase,
and at the point it was taken off the dynamometer test device the vehicle would
pick up signals that the car is going on the road and the trap would shutoff. By
Volkswagen making this horrific adjustment, they have supported one of the key
ingredients in the release of a highly poisonous gas into the environment which
produces smog, contributes to cardiovascular problems, and respiratory problems,
such as asthma, and also produces acid rain. This is a bigger issue for the people
who live in Silicon Valley, and all around Southern California; this is very important
as people who have these existing medical issues are in
A Comparison Of Bell Jar And Duncan In The Way
Life is like a game of Russian roulette, a lot of it involves luck. Nobody can t know
what s going to happen next, only hope that it s going to turn out well in the end.
Although in the end, no matter what anybody has been through, these things shape
them, they make them who they are. There s a point in life which arguably is the
most important in turning them into the person they are, these are the teenage years.
Everything can be great until then, but life throws a curveball and now it seems like
everything has turned against them. Some people get through this, becoming a better
person in the end; others aren t so lucky. This was the case for both Esther in The
Bell Jarand Duncan in The Way Way Back in their teenage years they faced some

As kids we re taught that we can get most anything we want with screaming, crying,
and or telling. It s a terrible lesson to teach kids, and sadly that s the way most are
taught. Once the kids become teenagers and approach adulthood they re hit with
the realization that crying won t fix everything. Duncan, like most others and
sometimes myself, combat this via silence. Instead of talking out Duncan would
avoid the problems that he faced instead of dealing with them head on. Owen had
jokingly told Duncan, I m afraid I m gonna have to ask you to leave. [...] I m
getting complaints. You re having way too much fun. It s making everyone
uncomfortable (Faxon). Now Duncan of course doesn t understand that this a
joke, but instead of questioning why he s being fired he goes simply replies Okay
and was about to leave. I typically feel like this and it s a bad thing to do because if
I can t resolve my problems how am I supposed to move past them, same with
Duncan. The coming of age experience teaches young adults many things ranging
from life will throw you curveballs to sometimes you won t be able to catch these
curveballs. The point isn t to sulk in the past of all the bad things that had happened
to you, it s to move past them to make you a better person. Coming of age
experiences are important because they shape you into the person you are, even if
they re not particularly fun all the time. All your experiences carry value with them,
they re important to have because of lessons that they teach
The Dangers of Social Media Essay
Like technology, our species has adapted to fit modern times. Through these
adaptations, we have begun to communicate through our newly developed
technology by means of social media. In today s society, we are surrounded by sites
such as Facebook, Twitter, E Mail, and various other websites that can often times
consume our lives. While social media has plenty of advantages, it also has
disadvantages that often times get ignored. As Internet users, it is important to
examine these disadvantages and make sure we understand the negative sides to
social media. As social media has become the easiest way to communicate, face to
face interaction is slowly becoming a thing of the past. Many people, especially those

Since then, the rates have only increased. Because adolescents are growing up with
more access to social networking, texting and instant messaging on various sites
have become prime means of communication. While this is not necessarily bad,
many people feel the need to over share things about their personal lives online.
More and more people are using Facbeook and more and more employers are using
Facebook to scope out potential employees. If there are inappropriate pictures and
comments all over someone s Facebook page, they are more likely to not receive
the job. Some students get in trouble for things they post on Facebook and Twitter.
Some users are beginning to notice this and have started deactivating their
accounts to regain a sense of privacy. CNN s article The anti social network: Life
without Facebook , states that some students who are trying to maintain a
professional image for future employment are deleting their pages. Going along
with the privacy issue, some people feel that they no longer want to share personal
things with their Facebook friends. Often times, their friends are people that they
barely know, whether they went to high school together or they may be a friend of
a friend. Users feel that these people do not need to know all of the intimate details
of their lives. The same CNN article tells a story about a couple who deleted their
accounts in order to reestablish past

Distinct societies developed in New England and the Chesapeake bay by 1700 due
to the fact that they had different motives . From a social perspective, New England
s intent was to explore and discover new lands where they could in search of
religious freedom, while the Chesapeake society explored their new lands in a quest
for material wealth. Economically, New England aimed to profit from nature, by
lumbering, fishing, and trading, yet the Chesapeake society wanted on to make their
fortune through growing tobacco. From a religious standpoint, the government of
New England was created with the intent of escaping the reach and persecution of the
powerful english church, while the Chesapeake region was more focused on
following traditional english religion.

Joy Is Not Just Happiness
In our everyday lives, joy has become synonymous with both happiness and
pleasure. We have diminished the meaning of the word by using it in place of the
more appropriate terms in order to provide emphasis. C.S. Lewis takes more literal
definition of joy, and so assigns it more significance in his mind, separating it from
any other emotion. Though he acknowledges that oftentimes happiness and
pleasure occur simultaneously with joy, they are not the root cause, nor are they
the same emotion. I think the best distinction Lewis makes between happiness and
pleasure is when he states Joy... must have the stab, the pang, the inconsolable
longing (Lewis 72). This look into the root of joy demonstrates that joy is not just
happiness, it is more complex and not always a fully positive emotion. There can
be sadness and longing behind the joy, but it does not diminish the great properties
of joy. Because joy is so great it is often sought, but as Lewis says it is never a
possession, always a desire for something longer ago or further away or still about
to be (Lewis 78). The fleeting nature of joy only adds to the intrigue, as it often
comes at the most unexpected times. Lewis recognizes this, as he titled the book
Surprised by Joy. Lewis also thinks that one s definition of joy is constantly changing
with our experiences. As he learned more about some subject, one that used to bring
him joy to study, he realizes that this was something quite different from the original
Joy.
The Scientific Revolutions and Copernicus Book Essay
The Scientific Revolutions and Copernicus Book
In the sixteenth and seventeenth century a Scientific Revolution swept over Europe.
The start of this Scientific Revolution has been atributed to Nicolaus Copernicus and
his Heliocentric Model of the Universe.
Copernicus was born in Torun Poland on February 19, 1473. His parents both died
when he was very young so he was sent to live with his uncle who was a high
ranking official in the Church. Copernicus studied canon law, medicine, astronomy,
Greek, philosophy, and mathematics. His diversified fields of study led him to hold
the positions of physician, teacher, member of parliament, and canon law expert for
the Church. At the age of twenty Copernicus left Poland for Italy for the ... Show

The Church felt that the earth as the center of the universe showed the special place
that man had in the eyes of God. The Church believed that this model was divine
and therefore any criticism on the Ptolmaic model coud be viewed as direct
criticism on God. As a result of the Church s strong view many scientists were
scared from disagreeing with it for fear of being labled as a heretic and possibly
being excommunicated. Copernicus feared the Church so much that he left Italy and
returned to Poland so that he could continue his work without fear of persecution. No
one seriously dismissed the Ptolemaic theory of the universe until 1616 when Galileo
began to teach the Heliocentric Model of the Universe. Galileo proved Copernicus s
theory to his students by showing them the planets through the use of telescopes. The
Ptolemaic Model of the Universe stated that the Earth was at the center of the
universe, the planets, stars rotated around the Earth in a perfect uniform circular
motion, and that all of the objects in the Heavens were made of perfect material that
could not change.
Nicolaus Copernicus was not the first person to develop the theory of a sun centered
universe. Aristarchus of Samos was the first to propse the theory of a Heliocentric
Universe in 200 B.C.. This theory is very similar to the Ptolemic model of the
universe. The major difference is that the sun not the

Thank you for the opportunity to assess your sales data in order to provide
recommendations for increasing your sales. The analysis and recommendations
below are based on the data you provided, which covers a period from May 2004
through June 2006. The analysis below is based on this data alone. Therefore, our
recommendations should be tempered by your knowledge of business realities and
your market. Please let us know if we can answer any questions concerning the
analysis or the recommendations provided.

Also take careful attention to notice the difference in the two quarters from 2004
and 2006. It looks like a majority of your sales representatives are making solid
revenue for the company.

Recommendation
My recommendation would be for starters, enroll every sales rep in a sales training
class. Upon completion of I would set a goal that each sales rep must contribute at
least 10% of the net income for the company. Since there are 9 sales reps this
leaves some room for extra. This will not only force the sales reps to work
together, and encourage friendly competition. I also recommend you elect a sales
representative team leader (for example Miss Peacock who is consistently your top
sales person) and empower her to encourage, coach and teacher the other sales reps in
her methods and tricks.
ANALYSIS 3: Total Revenues by Month in 2005
Analysis
After careful consideration, I decided to look at the yearly trend of just 2005 since
we have all the data from that year. If you will notice, October is by far the biggest
selling month, whereas July is the lowest, but mostly the trend is pretty consistent
across the year.
Graphic
Recommendation I recommend that we find out what about October spikes sales,
and try to apply it to the rest of the year. Also, I d consider adding special sales and
discounts in March and April, the lowest sales months of the year, that should help
perk up
Argumentative Essay About Penguins
Magnificent creatures of the land and sea, penguins have been around for a long
time. Penguins have adapted well over the course of many years, for swimming and
hunting purposes. Everyone knows that penguins are weird birds that can t fly and
have to waddle on land, but what most people don t know about are the harms that
penguins have been exposed to and the fact that many penguins are endangered, if
not vulnerable to endangerment. Penguins are incredibly different from other
animals and are very important to the food chain, so they should be saved from
endangerment. Penguins indeed have adapted a great deal as time passed. According
to recent research on old fossils found in Peru, ancient penguins used to be six feet
tall. They could swim and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems unusual that birds can t fly, but it s brilliant that they can practically fly
underwater ! The World Book (2008 ed.) states that penguins use the same motion
to swim as other birds use to fly. These flipper y fowls can zoom through the water
at a rate of eight miles an hour, but if they really must, they can swim above twenty
miles for the same amount of time! Penguins take breaths every minute so they
soar by the surface and pounce into the air on occasion, although they can hold
their breath for almost twenty minutes as they dive deep below into the water.
Penguins can plunge as deep as 900 feet. That s 300 times their average height!
They are not only so fabulous underwater; penguins can toboggan across the snow
on their bellies or climb over rocks if they need to! Rockhopper penguins, as one
might assume, are named after their ability to hop over rocks easier than most other
penguins. Rockhoppers are also able to pencil dive (feet first) into the water, unlike
most other penguins, and can leap back into the air as high as three times their height
and grab onto perches above them with their tiny

How Can I Make Money From Home With Affiliate Marketing It really is Quick and
Basic
In the event you break it down, affiliate marketing indicates absolutely nothing more
than selling somebody else s product, service or business opportunity for profit.
Your job would be to basically promote the product and make a sale. This can be
normally completed by means of setting up a website or perhaps a blog and posting
different reviews, tutorials, videos along with other content that delivers value to
those probably to become customers considering and understanding much more
regarding the products you re providing.
Among the list of the fastest, easiest techniques to acquire would be to go setup a
free WordPress blog. There is no expense and you can possess a nice blog setup and
prepared to start promoting within minutes. Later you may wish to consider finding
a domain name and hosting a blog yourself as this puts you in total control of all of
the content you produce and what you ll do with it.
What most prime affiliates will advocate is when starting out you select a subject
that you know a good deal about. If you have a hobby, that s an excellent place to
start.
It is possible to write articles about your hobby and portion of the study will be to
discover products that you simply can sell associated to your main subject.

Abstract
CNX Nifty being an important barometer to indicate country s growth has always
been followed with lots of interest from both academia and industry. Now, CNX
Nifty could be predicted or not on a random basis gives rise to many a questions.
This sounds redolent with any predictive modeling though with a certain degree of
accuracy in built in to the system. The major point of consideration is that
predictive modeling could be done by various measures and mechanisms. In
predictive modeling Multiple Adaptive Regression (MARS), Classification and
Regression Trees (CART), Logistic OLS or Non Linear OLS could be used. Here in
this study the researcher has utilized Neural Network as a Predictive Modeler to
predict CNX Nifty closing on certain random time zones under consideration.

Telling a true war story

place like no other. It was swarmed with presence of stories, some strange, some
nefarious, and some just utterly incredible. But for those who think like me,
Vietnam, even in its times of horror and imperfections, can really bring out the very
true nature in someone. Like the way someone stands upon his feet after numerous

I also noticed how people like Rat Kiley could kill innocent water buffalos and
torture villagers. Yes, it is true that I kill animals too. But I do not kill innocent
creatures out of sheer fun or stupidity, I do it to survive. And I sure as h*ll would
never torture villagers who are only helping me by cleaning my gun. But listen.
Even that story is made up. I don t kill animals, nor live in the wilderness, nor do I
associate myself with monkeys. I want you to feel what I felt as I was present in
Alpha Company . Sometimes I felt like a monkey in a cage when I was in the
presence of that company; putting on a show for them by looking beautiful.
Sometimes I even felt as though living in the wilderness could alleviate my anger
towards that company. I also made up that story to highlight the reality of war
stories. Sometimes, in many war stories, it is difficult for the reader or listener to
separate what happened from what seemed to happen. What appeared to happen
could become its own story and therefore people begin to tell the story that way. A
true war story doesn t require a PHD to understand it. Here is what really happened
to me after I left the group of soldiers. I came across this old, meek, and innocent
looking lady. Her name is Thi Dung. But I call her Ong Dung out of respect. I told
her that the American soldiers who are here in Vietnam are good for nothing sly

an angle of God. In this vision he was told by Jesus to write the things which you

things (Revelation1:19). The Book of Revelation consist of epistle, prophetic, and

introduces the prophetic part of the book where John is called up to heaven, sees the

to heaven and he hears a voice like a trumpet telling him to come up hither and I will

Taking a Look at Knowledge Management
In order to understand knowledge management, it is important to start by defining
what knowledge is. Knowledge is the full utilization of information and data, coupled
with the potential of people s skills, competencies, ideas, intuitions, commitments and
motivations. In today s dynamic and complex business environment, the desire for
knowledge has increased even more with the scope and content changed dramatically,
often spreading outside the organization.
Firstly, Polanyi (1958) coined the term tacit and divided knowledge into tacit
knowledge and explicit knowledge based on the degree of expression and he says
We know more than we can tell . Tacit knowledge is the knowledge embedded in
people s mind, usually easy to observe but hard to formalize and communicate to
others. A good example given for it is the knowledge on how to ride a bicycle or
drive a car. Whereas for the explicit knowledge can be easily captured and stored,
hence it can be transferred and communicated to others. The most common form of
explicit knowledge is manuals, documents, procedures and others.
What is knowledge management? According to experts, it fosters the creation,
accumulation, organization, reuse, retrieval, sharing, and transfer of knowledge in
organizations (Alavi and Leidner, 2001; Liebowitz, 1999). Wiig, also defined it as a
group of clearly defined process or methods used to search important knowledge
among different knowledge management operations. The Gartner Group (2005) has
Groundhog Day Comparison
The movie Groundhog Day shares many parallels with the book Flight by Sherman
Alexie. Both Phil and Zits react similarly to the whole situation going through
stages of confusion, happiness, desperation, and acceptance until finally they have
learned their lesson and become better people as a whole. There are some
differences though. Zits spends the beginning of his experience trying to come up
with a logical explanation and finally turning to religion to explain each body he
inhabits as him having reached either heaven or hell. Phil never assumes God
plays a role in this although at one point he tells Rita that I am God. (imdb.com)
Instead he quickly decides to use the situation to his advantage since nothing he
does has any consequences and he can learn various things to impress girls or save
lives. The biggest difference is that Phil has control over what he does and Zits
usually doesn t. It switches each time for Zits how present he is mentally and
physically. Only once was he able to make the decision to control what happens....

Treasure State By Tin House Summary
The Hidden Treasures in Treasure State
The short story, Treasure State by Tin House, is full of reflection, guilt, and
loneliness. Mainly, the story entails the journey of two brothers fleeing their
hometown after their incarcerated father, Old Man, is granted mercy due to his
terminal cancer to return home. The brothers, John and Daniel, would rather leave
town than to live with the Old Man so they set their eyes on the treasure state,
Montana. The story details their journey to wild destinations and fleeing their past
while making it by any means necessary. Along the way, readers are introduced to a
few minor female characters: Gwen, the mother of the boys, and the lady on the bed.
The importance of these minor characters is grossly underappreciated. This is
because while the main themes of this story are readily apparent, there are some
equally important themes driven by this group of more underrepresented female
characters.
Treasure State is the documentation of the journey of John and Daniel as they run
away from their father who is coming home from prison. At each destination, the
boys rob the families of the dead to trade off the treasures for money to fund their
expedition. At the first mid destination, the boys are caught post robbery. Being
forced to awkwardly mingle with the people they had just robbed, Daniel takes a
tour around the home, spotting a new character in the story, Gwen. Gwen is a
teenager who is currently dealing with the death of a family member, yet is
attempting to run away with the brothers. However, John treats her as a problem or a
threat to their mission, and makes her leave before driving away. Even though Gwen
knew the boys robbed the home, she neglected to tell the authorities or her family
about the heist.
After their first robbery, a flashback critical to the development of the story takes
place. It is of the boys when they were younger, and before the Old Man was
incarcerated. Back then, John kept a hammer in his bed to kill his father upon his
arrival to their room. Daniel was the brother who was usually punished for his soft
nature and sometimes even for John s actions. The story shares that John dismantled
a half acre s worth of pumpkins with this hammer by

The Six Principles Of Influence The Success Of A Business
Introduction
The global economy continues to grow in the 21st century based on the continuous
developing success of businesses. It can be argued that there are many important
factors that will influence the success of a business. However these two assets have
been highly valued as they are linked to organisational success.
1.Business Relationships
2.Reputation
Dr. Robert Cialdini is a professor who has spent his entire career researching the
science of influence and acquired an international reputation of being an expert in his
field. (Cialdini, 2016)
Dr. Cialdini developed his scientific findings for human interaction, which he refers to
as the Six Principles of Influence. We will analyse if these principles have continue to
stay relevant in the 21st century s global economy. Business Relationships
What is a business relationship?
It is said that relationships are the fuel that feeds your business . It takes dedication to
develop and maintain not only a business relationship but also important to make it a
successful one.
To be able to develop and maintain successful business relationships is acknowledged
in practice. However, this can be complex process of finding factual evidence in
academic literature.
Why are Business Relationships important?
The importance of business relationships can take various different forms.
As a company, this is a great way for you to connect with your clients and customers.
Relationships with other companies are also
United Parcel Service (UPS)
The case analysis below will describe the labor and management dispute between
United Parcel Service (UPS) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)
that occurred in 1997. It will also offer insights of the strike from my view point.
This strike was considered one of the nation s largest strikes in 30 years and
certainly one of the most memorable of its time. The strike, which consisted of over
185,000 teamsters crippled the world s largest package delivery company by
effectively shutting down the operations of UPS for 15 days and costing the
company approximately $650 million in lost business. (Minchin, 2012) United
Parcel Service (UPS), also known as Big Brown was recognized for its public image

Literary Analysis Of Thanatopsis
William Cullen Bryant is the author of Thanatopsis. This poem is the one describes
the link between death and nature. Nature is the main central idea of
Transcendentalism, and each author has different ideas about nature, and their
writing methods are different. Emerson, is the author who is main representative of
Transcendentalism, and Bryant have a slightly different style of Emerson. Bryant was
born in Cumington, Massachusetts, and began writing poetry before he was nine
years old. Bryant s family is Puritan family, when he was a child, he was often ill, and
his father asked him to walk in the forest to strengthen his constitution, which gave
him a keen interest in nature. Bryant s position combines the impulses of the British
romantic school and his own New England conservatism. His life gradually moved
away from the Calvinism of religion, the political transition from federalism to
unification and Jackson s democratic attitudes. He thought poetry was an art of
association, it inspires readers imagination with symbolism rather than direct
imitation of life, and hold the reader s feelings and arouse them to act with passion.
His style throughout the 19th century formed the mainstream of American poetry (1).
He is one of the representatives of the transcendentalists. Transcendentalism was not a
rejection of Unitarianism, rather, it developed as an organic consequence of the
Unitarian emphasis on free conscience and the value of intellectual reason. The
Waiting Love Movie Analysis
If you re interested in a muscular Chinese guy roller skating around in a bikini,
then I ve got just the movie for you. Cafe. Waiting. Love. is a Chinese love story
filled with humor and grilled sausage. While watching this movie, I noticed many
trends common among similar stories, such as the girl who can see ghosts, the
ghost who can t pass on to heaven because he has a regret, and the boy who likes
the girl. Although these clichГ©s were not mentioned in Foster s book, there were
still many things I could deduce about the movie only after reading about Foster s
methods. Of Thomas C. Foster s twenty seven chapters, in his book, How To Read
Literature Like A Professor, the chapters I found most applicable to my movie
were chapters nine, eleven, and fifteen. Firstly, chapter nine of Foster s book made
one thing very clear: It s never just the rain. (Foster, 70) Since rain can be more
mysterious, murkier, more isolating than most other weather conditions (Foster,
71), the director uses the rain to add a bit of mystery to the mood of the joyful
scene with this unnamed, mysterious boy whom the female protagonist (Xiying) is
interested in (romantically). The rain also serves as a plot device and force pushing
Xiying and the boy together, even though it s clear that Xiying is going to end up
with A Tuo (the boy who likes her). The purpose of pushing Xiying and the mystery
boy together is to create enough of a connection between them for Xiying to choose
the boy over A Tuo
Essay on My Antonia by Willa Cather
My Antonia by Willa Cather Disapprobation hurt me, I found #8212;even that of
people whom I did not admire. (164). In the novel, My Antonia, by Willa Cather,
society seems to govern the lives of many people. But for the others, who see past
society s stereotypical values, had enough strength to overcome this and allowed
them to achieve their dreams. Throughout the book, everyone seems to be trying to
pursue the American Dream. While they all have different ideas of just exactly what
the American Dream is, they all know precisely what they want. For some, the
American Dream sounds so enticing that they have traveled across the world to
achieve their goal. One girl who chases the American Dream is Lena Lingard,... Show

Some families traveled a great many miles to try to win the American Dream. The

cruise companies, as passengers will always have a option of payment accessible
to them. Branding is another critical aspect of the cruise industry when it comes to
reaching and expanding on market segmentation and as the cruise market grows,
the need for branding will become even more notable. (Dowling, K. 2006. Pg 3)

in the cruise industry is the number of families going on cruises. In the past, it was
rare to see children on cruises. It is for that reason that cruise lines have had to adapt
their packages to include younger children; one of the best examples of this is the
Disney Cruise line. Disney offers many facilities and entertainment programs to their

Female Discrimination In The Labor Force Essay
Female Discrimination in the Labor Force
In the past decades there has been a dramatic increase in the number of women
participating in the labor force. This expansion has unfortunately shown how women
are still being treated as inferior citizens when comparing their wages and the jobs
they are hired for to that of men. Many women in similar occupations as men, and
having the same qualifications are only paid a fraction of what their male
counterparts are paid. The only reasonable explanation that can be found for this
income gap is discrimination. This unfair treatment shown throughout the handouts
illustrate how far people still have to go before equal treatment becomes standard. ...

Those women made a weekly salary of 570 dollars while those men made 833
dollars. This is also true in many other occupations such as sales and technical
operations (6). Some would say that this is the case because men are better qualified
and more competent in their jobs.
Since the year 1981, women have graduated from college in greater numbers than
men. Women had 465, 000 graduates while men had 470, 000 in 1980.
This gap would be closed and eclipsed by women in 1981. That year 480, 000
women earned a bachelors degree while men only had 473, 000 (4). The gap in the
number of college graduates is increasing in favor of women. So, it would seem that
there are more highly qualified women out there than there are men.
Then why is it that men are still being paid more?
Discrimination seems the only viable answer to the earnings gap. When one looks
at the mean income of year round workers in 1994, men with only some college
experience still made more than women with a bachelors degree. This gap
increases as the level of educational accomplishment rises. Men with a master s
degree made an average yearly salary of 62, 368 dollars while women with the same
degree made only 43, 601 dollars (5). These numbers seem to greatly support the
discrimination case.
When women first entered the labor force they were

first founder was a young merchant named Siyyid Ali Muhammad. Moreover, it was

The Gate (@BahaiTeachings. pg. 1). The Babi faith spread quickly from the
revolutionary teachings of spiritual and moral transformation. The government was
appalled by the sudden acknowledgement of the faith and acted immediately. An
abundance of Babis was lacerated for their beliefs. The Bab message became the

Young Offenders Into The Community
REINTEGRATING YOUNG OFFENDERS INTO THE COMMUNITY
Chapter 1
1.1 Introduction
This paper is a report of an analysis of the concept of working with young offenders
to prevent them from reoffending. The aim of this paper is to learn about the
experiences of individuals who have been released from prison into the community so
as to make contributions into developing relevant interventions based on the
difficulties/barriers faced by these individuals. To add to this, this paper will explore
whether every one of these offenders experiences are different or similar from
another. This paper aims to answer a number of questions, among them whether the
offenders ever have the thought that by reoffending or breaching their conditions they
would go back to prison. Whether they used drugs. Whether they had any children
and if they did whether they had contact with them if they see them when they are
released or when they last saw them and if they have not seen them the reason why.
Where do the offenders consider to get more support; Community or prison?

On 9 May 2013, the government published Transforming Rehabilitation which is a

management of offenders in the community to decrease reoffending rates are. The
document stated that for the first time offenders released from prison would be given

The Role Of Television In Presidential Debates
The rise of popularity in presidential television debates leads one to the question of
it having a positive and or negative impact on candidates campaigns. Television
allowed people to see the debate in a new perspective, visually, however it idolizes
and highlights candidates to make them seem as if they are celebrities, instead of
focusing on their intellect and topics to improve the nation. Therefore one can see the
impacts of televisionas negative, for the media is downplaying the actual value of
presidential campaigns and focusing on less important irrelevant entertaining topics.
Television is taking the serious main focus of presidential debates and devaluing it to
minimize the whole picture as well as focus on unnecessary entertaining matters, for a
presidential debate actions such as this are disdainful. Instead of focusing on
candidate s of intellect the media highlights candidates of more appealing entertaining

The Clash Of Zionism And Arab Nationalism Essay
Introduction to Middle East Politics
Midterm Essay
Minahil Tauseef
Clash of Nationalisms
The clash of Zionism and Arab nationalism has led to the longest running conflict in
the history of the world that shapes the politics of the Middle East to this day. The
roots of the modern Arab Israeli conflict can be found in the rise of Zionism and Arab
nationalism towards the end of the 19th century. The source of the conflict is
territorial claims over a small piece of land that is the historical homeland for two
different nationalities. Palestine has historically held great significance for the Jews.
Zionism transformed that religious attachment and made it into a basis for a claim
onnational grounds that this is their national home. This set them in potential conflict
with another nationality, the Arabs, who seePalestine as historically and currently
belonging to the Arabs, and in the Pan Islamic context, as Muslim lands. Over the
course of this paper, I will talk about why the Arab Israeli conflict was inevitable and
why these two ideologies were fated to clash.
In order to understand the clash, we must first understand the importance of the
region that has been the focus of two conflicting territorial claims. The Jewish claim
to the state of Israel is rooted in the nearly six thousand year old belief of Jews that
Israel is the homeland promised to them by God in the Torah. Jewish history has
been a continuous cycle of exile and return to the promised land . The desire to
Managing And Securing Unstructured Data
With a massive growth in Internet, there has been an enormous increase in the
amount of information generated and shared in social networking sites and across
various industries. This has led to storing and access issues with regards to
unstructured data.
Firstly understanding what unstructured data is of primary importance before trying
to handle it. In simple terms unstructured data can be understood as data that can t be
stored in the form of rows and columns. It can be anything including email files, text
documents, presentations, image and video files.
Studies carried out by IDC and EMC forecasts that data will grow to 40 zettabyes (1
ZB = 1 billion TB). As of now more than 80% of all stored data in organizations is

Also backup and restore will take a lesser time
Major disadvantage is that storing unstructured data will significantly increase the
size of databases which will lead to more time for backup and restore of these
databases and can cause performance issues with I/O subsystems
The big disadvantage of this approach is that we have to create and maintain manual
links between database and external file system files which can potentially go out of
sync. Also since data is stored outside the system the backups are not consistent and
unstructured data is not a part of the transaction.
Hybrid Approach: To overcome the disadvantages of the methods discussed above,
another method was the Hybrid Approach, which proposes Database engine to
support a new data type filestream . Filestram help consolidates the profit of getting
to BLOBs specifically from the NTFS document framework with the referential
integrity and simple entry offered by the conventional social database engine. In SQL
Server, BLOBs can be standard varbinary (max) information that stores the
information in tables, or filestream varbinary (max) protests that store the information
in the document framework. The major advantage of this approach is BLOB s are
under database transactional consistency. By carrying out research with different
datasets, it was clearly observed that hybrid and filestream data type approach is faster
Compare And Contrast Tsunami And Tsunami
Tsunamis are devastating natural disasters which have huge impacts on population.
They are series of fast travelling ocean waves of extremely long length and occurs in
coastal areas. The word Tsunami comes from two Japanese words meaning harbour
wave .
Tsunami waves are extremely rapid ocean waves. Although Tsunamis are commonly
known as tidal waves, they are actually unrelated to tidal activities. Tsunamis are
more common around the Pacific Ocean because of earthquakes and volcanic
eruption in the ring of fire. Each year on average, two tsunamis occur around the
world. In many ways, Tsunamis are similar to regular waves as they aren t just
moving water, they are energy moving through water. The difference is how this
energy is formed. Normal ocean waves come from the wind. On the other hand,
Tsunamis are caused by energy originating underwater from earthquakes, volcanic
eruptions, landslides or meteorite crashes. These underwater activities release
massive amounts of energy into the surface which then displaces water, raising it
above the average sea level. The waves try escaping, but gravity pulls it back down
and makes the energy spread out horizontally. This is when the Tsunamistarts heading
to the shore. Once a tsunami wave is born, there s no stopping it since the energy
generated is massive. When one set of tsunami wave reaches the shoreline, the
others catch up due to the compressed energy. These series of waves are called
Tsunami wave trains . It is stated that tsunamis sound like standing near a moving
freight train. They can travel approximately 700 km/h, faster than a flying jet
plane. The waves reach up to about 30 m on average. Although this is very high,
there can be waves at a much higher level. They are called Mega Tsunamis . Mega
Tsunamis can reach the height of more than 250 m and are usually caused by
landslides or large volcanic eruptions. When Tsunamis start to reach the shore, they
slow down in speed but increase in height rapidly. Tsunamis are deadly so it is
crucial to watch out for different signals. There are tsunami warning systems attached
to the buoys in the sea that transmits data and work as a warning system. There are a
few other warnings the ocean sends just before the

Gang Leader For A Day
The majority of black communities in 1989 were among the poorest neighbourhoods
in Chicago. Approximately 20% of black people were unemployed, compared to
only 5.4% of unemployed white people (Street,2007). These statistics represent racial
inequality which caused a lot of internal, and external damage to the black
population. Rogue Sociologist, Sudhir Venkatesh s (2008) novel called GangLeader
for a Day, reveals this disparity. In 1989 Sudhir participated in qualitative research,
by studying the lives of people from the projects of Chicago. The projects are a
subsidized housing development, provided by the government which requires low
rent. Sudhir s research is unique because it provides knowledge, that just statistics

the Robert Taylor Homes. Shaw and McKay s social disorganization theory is that
crime increases when poverty, ethnic diversity, and constant moving of houses, leads
to social disorganization in the community (Sampson Groves,1989). This paper will
discuss how the Robert Taylor Homes support the social disorganization theory, due
to an unstable family life, and poor economic conditions. Following, this paper will
discuss the ways in which the community challenged disorganization, because of the
homogenous population, and lack of mobility.

You can put the same amount of money on a PC and still have better compartments.
The second to look at the two of the machine is; does it handle intense gaming?

Crooks In An Expensive School
The quote, The more expensive a school is, the more crooks it has , caught my
attention because not many would expect that an expensive school would have
crooks in it. Most people wouldn t expect that there are more crooks in an expensive
school since in a society only upper class and some middle class people would be
able to afford to go to an expensive school. People would think the types of people
that go to an expensive school must be respectable and have a good nature, since
they are trying to become educated and prepared for the world. Instead, according
to Holden there are more crooks in an expensive school than other types of schools.
In a way this makes sense because the children that go to expensive schools must be

In a study conducted by Chow and Wong (2014), they analyzed a case management
team led by nurses and the effectiveness of the care coordination regarding older
adults whom are diagnosed with co morbidities. Utilizing a randomized controlled
trial during 2010 to 2012, the researchers analyzed older adults who suffered from at
least two chronic illnesses (Chow Wong, 2014). Those chosen to be analyzed were
then further divided into three groups, including one control groups and two study
groups (Chow Wong, 2014). Baseline data was gathered and collected at four weeks
and then again at twelve weeks from the two hundred and eighty one patients
participating (Chow Wong, 2014). The two study groups in which interventions in
which nurse led case management occurred, resulted in lower readmission rates
within an eighty four day frame after discharge from hospitalization. Additionally
these participants rated their health and self sufficiency at a higher level than the
control group (Chow Wong, 2014). Conclusions gathered from research indicates
that care coordination after discharge led by nurses whom empower patients are
effective in improving clinical outcomes for older patients with co morbidities
(Chow Wong, 2014). This research conducted is crucial to my selected topic as is
provides evidence that coordination of care after discharge can improve outcomes.

seem an obvious topic of research, as the findings of such research are highly sought
after. As such any research relating to what motivates political orientation would be
very useful. For this reason a great deal of research into the relationship between
moral foundation and political orientation has been done in recent years. For this
study political orientation is measured using a 7 point scale from liberal to... Show

Whereas a strongly conservatives averaged neutral on Ingroup / loyalty statements,

earlier paper Haidt and Graham(2007) found that for extreme liberals, Harm / Care
and Fairness / Reciprocity where almost always relivent, however those who are
extremely conservative find that they value all five more equally when making moral
choice. This correlates almost perfectly with the earlier paper from Graham, Haidt
and Nosek(2009), showing that the findings seem highly reliable. Haidt and
Graham(2007) go on to say that the recognition of the final three moral
foundations(Ingroup / Loyalty, Authority / Respect and Purity / Sanctity) is key to
allowing more fair and even discussions between the two political standpoints.
Furthering on this Tyran (2004) found that when a person is presented with a voting
option in a referendum where the result would be of financial cost to themselves, but
would be morally right, specifically relevant to the Harm / Care and Fairness
/ Reciprocity foundations, voters tended to vote for the morally right option. This
demonstrates that the connection between moral

Comparing Means in Spss
1 Chapter 7 Comparing Means in SPSS (t Tests)
This section covers procedures for testing the differences between two means
using the SPSS Compare Means analyses. Specifically, we demonstrate procedures
for running Dependent Sample (or One Sample) t tests, Independent Sample t
tests, Difference Sample (or Matched or Paired Sample) t tests. Unfortunately,
SPSS does not provide procedures for running Z tests. For the following examples,
we have created a data set based on cartoon 9.1 (Cow Poetry). To obtain our data,
we have randomly drawn a sample of 30 cows from the population of cows owned
by Farmer Perry. With the measurements we take from this sample we are going to
ask three research questions. First, we are interested in the number ... Show more

different from a criterion value (in this case the population mean). Before you can
run this type of analysis you will need to know the value that you want to
4 compare with your sample mean. In this case our test (comparison) value is 10
and was obtained by finding the average number of times every one of Farmer
Perry s cows touched the electric fence (i.e., the population mean for fence
touching). In the procedure presented bellow, we are going to perform two tests at
the same time. The first test will compare the mean of fencetch (frequency of
touching the electric fence prior to attending cow school) with the population
average for touching the electric fence. The second test will compare mean of
fenctch2 (frequency of touching the electric fence after attending cow school) with
the population average for touching the electric fence. One Sample T Test Steps
(See Figure 9.4): From the Analyze (1) pull down menu, select Compare Means (2),
then select One Sample T Test... (3) from the side menu. In the One Sample T Test
dialogue box, enter the variables fencetch and fenctch2 in the Test Variable(s) field
by either double left clicking on each variable or selecting the variables and
NHS Risk Management Case Study
1. Risk Management and why this is required for the National Health Service (NHS)
Risk management is essential in any industry as it is not always possible to predict
the future. However, by carrying out certain procedures and taking precautions, a
more favourable outcome can result over a less attractive one (Garlick, 2007, p.3).
This is greatly beneficial for the publicly funded National Health Service (NHS) as it
assists the organisation comply with the the Standard for Better Health for England
and the Healthcare Standards for Wales. The National Patient Safety Agency (2006)
states that understanding all potential risks will aid the organisation in coping with
unexpected events and ultimately ensure public, staff and patient confidence ... Show

In Hospital acquired infection: the challenges of the law of negligence , Rachel
Hanly states, a utopian aspiration for the health system is that all dangers to patients
can be eradicated, but realism entails that the maximum should be done, by the
providers and users, to curtail any threats to the safety of vulnerable patients . The
hospital must maintain a controlled safety environment as it must be aware of any
risks which are present at any other place, aside from a home (Wilkinson, 2003, p.87).
The National Audit Office (2000) states that infections acquired in hospitals in the
United Kingdom ultimately cost around ВЈ1bn a year, affecting almost 10% of
patients and causing over 5000 deaths a year and so the National Patient Safety
Agency (NPSA) was started in 2001 to focus solely on patient safety issues. The
Handwashing Liaison Group recommended washing hands with soap and water when
there is soiling and that staff should use an alcohol glycerol hand rub between
interactions with patients. This shows that the NHS has identified the steps which
were highlighted in their risk assessment (NHS: National Patient Safety Agency,
2006) and later the NPSA was created to assist the NHS to meet its core values in
terms of patient
The History Of Thanksgiving In American Culture
Thanksgiving is a very important holiday in present day culture. People all
throughout America take time to make this day a memorable celebration. This
tradition has been in America since 1621 when the very first thanksgiving took place.
Nigel Hamilton once said, Thanksgiving is a time of togetherness and gratitude and
even though the traditions may have been altered and changed, the true meaning of
Thanksgivingremains the same. The first thanksgiving was an important milestone
that made a huge mark in American culture today.
Thanksgiving began as a gathering of colonists nearly 400 years ago. In 1620, a
ship, known as the Mayflower, was filled with over 100 passengers sailed across the
ocean from England to settle in the New World. The passengers aboard consisted of
religious separatist who were seeking a home where they could practice their faith ...

The pilgrims settled in Cape Cod, which now is the state of Massachusetts. They
settled in the start of winter and experienced the artic cold. Since they arrived in
December, it was not ideal to grow crops at that time, especially in unfamiliar soil.
Since they had no way to grow any crops, fresh food was scarce, and in result
almost half of the colonist died from diseases which they had been struck with while
on the voyage from England. As spring approached, the Wampanoag Indians
befriended the pilgrims as a result taught them how to grow crops such as corn. The
pilgrims were unfamiliar with the soil and did not know what kind of crops would
grow. The Wampanoag tribe also taught the pilgrims to hunt and fish, a necessity for
survival. With the skills the pilgrims learned, the fish they caught were used as
fertilizer. The Indians taught them everything about crops and feralization. Without
that shared knowledge, there wouldn t be a

In Vermeer s Hat: The seventeenth Century and the Dawn of the Global World,
Timothy Brook uses Vermeer s paintings to show the effects of tradeon the world and
the overall globalization occurring. Brook argues that this globalization had begun in
the seventeenth century. He takes a look at Vermeer s paintings, and uses them as
windows into seventeenth century history to discuss further topics of interest.

He states that tobacco started in Europe due to Portuguese sailors, and from there it
spread and soon became was in high demand. Chinese people thought that tobacco
had medicinal purposes, while Native Americans thought that tobacco connected you
to a supernatural world.
If we skip back a little, in the first chapter of Vermeer s Hat: The seventeenth
Century and the Dawn of the Global World, Brook discusses Vermeer s first painting,
View of Delft. This painting is one of the only outdoor scenes Vermeer had painted
that is still in existence. The first window Brook opens for his readers in this
painting is a view of the city of Delft. This painting shows the river harbor in Delft.
Brook first uses the herring buses in this painting to open a window into the
seventeenth century. Herring buses Timothy Brook states herring buses in Vermeer s
Hat, are, three masted vessels built to fish for herring in the North Sea (12). The
herring buses give Timothy Brook a window to talk about the climate change and
sickness in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In these two centuries, the
temperatures were falling all over the world, creating increased sickness and shorter
crop seasons. In Vermeer s Hat, Brook says that the two herring boats in the painting
are evidence of climate change. Brook also uses Vermeer to talk about the exchanges
in the seventeenth century. He states that one of the benefits of the climate changing

An Hour Imagery
Kate Chopin in, The Story of an Hour, uses imagery to create symbolism, enhance
the irony, and to convey the conflict. Chopin has a way of creating these ideas in
your head through the words she uses in her stories. The Story of an Hour, bases it s
main theme on Freedom and Confinement, which shows in many ways like, for
example, the delicious breath of rain, which symbolizes refreshment and new
beginnings within the story. By Enhancing the irony of the denouement/protagonist s
situation, it creates a vast amount of imagery within, The Story of an Hour. Moreover,
josephine worries that Mrs. Mallard locked herself in her room and is making
herself ill. Conversely, she s actually in there seeing how life is now, from her
perspective,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, many refer to Chopin s stories as having a unique approach to
worldwide issues and concerns. Chopin doesn t want to change the world; all she
wants is to describe it as best she could through her pieces of literature. The goal is
to expose the truth about the lives of many women and men in the nineteenth
century and how challenging it really is. There is an infinite amount of literary
devices, including imagery, to show the reality of society s situation back in the
18th century within the story. In, The Story of an Hour, her main idea/theme is
the pure formality of Freedom and Confinement for women through marriage.
Within creating imagery, there is robust continuously throughout the story itself.
Accordingly, she gives the reader a sense of Mrs. Mallard s new life through the
view of an open window. Nevertheless, she wants her audience to experience what
Mrs.Mallard was so that the readers will fully understand the severity of women s
situations then and now who have to go through the pain that Mrs.Mallard did
every single day. Bob Marley once said that, Beginnings are usually scary, and
endings are usually sad, but it s everything in between that makes it all worth
living, and in Mrs.Mallard s case, that reigns true. The emotions she feels when she
liberates from her tight chains of marriage became the reason she wants to live and
to keep moving forward. That feeling makes her life worth living again, but then
disaster strikes and that feeling vanishes along with her living, breathing self.
Mrs.Mallard didn t die of joy that kills, she dies of the darkness of her past,
consuming every last breath she takes, and then... she s

Sensor Technology Applied to Martial Arts
пѓ SOCIAL AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATION:
The system relates to the type of protective clothing worn by the players in sports
like in martial arts, taekwondo and kick boxing. Technology is becoming is very
common in sports to highlight the unfair decisions made by the referees during a
game, it s a very complicated procedure to link technology with the sports, however
introducing sensors like (proximity, motion sensor, impact sensors) in sports create a
vast difference in the decision making of referees on field and also put fairness in
the game and enjoyment for the audience coming into see the game. The invention
of impact measurement and sensor technology uses the Piezo electric film sensors
on the protective clothing worn by the players to help the referees to make accurate
decision of scoring in a game. The recently introduced judgment making
technologies has however, surged the accountability of the referee and judges to
ensure the precision of scoring, as scores now come spontaneously from two sources
(1) the electronic scoring system, (2) the judges via hand held electronic controllers.
While the technology does mention about the points that may not have been seen via
the open eyes due to the surged speed of the game and upturned complexity of
practices, quite a lot of the interviewees expressed fear of points being scored through
the closing of circuitry rather than power and/or technique. Some indicated to this

City Upon A Hill Analysis
People have always fantasized of a perfect world. Some want riches, others want
peace. It seems that people are never capable of agreeing on what the perfect world

what someone will never like what is happening and disagree with

  • 3. August Wilson s The Piano Lesson The Lesson of The Piano Lesson The theater opens, and the train sounds as August Wilson releases his fourth of ten plays The Piano Lesson, begins. August Wilson writes this play in order to find the legacy of the piano by using the connections of domestic drama to explore questions of personal and cultural inheritance (Elam 362). This play becomes the talk of the town, and in 1990 Wilson wins a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In August Wilsons play, The PianoLesson, the Reader Response Theory is apparent because the main action is not centered around music, but instead the play s focus in based on the history of an African American family during the early 1900 s through anecdotes, irony, and symbolism. There are various ways readers interpret the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explains that a man named Robert Sutter owns the Charles family, and Joel Nolander owns the piano. It is Sutter s wedding anniversary, and he wants to give a delightful present to his wife Miss Ophelia. He knows he wants to buy the piano, but Sutter does not have any money. Sutter asks Joel Nolander if he can trade slaves for the piano. Joel says yes but on one condition: He [wants] to have the pick of the litter (1.2.409). He chooses Doaker s grandmother and his father who is nine years of age. The gift pleases Miss Ophelia until she realizes that she misses her confidant and loyal help. She requests reversing the exchange with Mr. Nolander who replies that the deal is already done. This results in a huge argument between the two men and leaves Miss Ophelia ill in bed. To appease Ophelia, who [pins] for Berniece, Willie Boy (Doaker s grandfather) [carves] the piano legs with the family s history in a montage of scene comprising a slave narrative celebrating the life of his scattered clan (Snodgrass 155). The carvings provide a soul to the lifeless piano encouraging Miss Ophelia to play its

I was with my close family, which are my brothers and cousins, and of course my mom and grandma. When we were walking into camp snoopy for the first time it was like a tree in a forest and all I could hear hear squeal of kids screaming, and the rides rumbling. The first ride we decided to go on was the elegant peanutsswing. When we got on the swing I felt the chilly metal of the seat and the smooth breeze of wind blowing into my face. After that we went to the shooting star and at first I didn t want to go on the shooting star so my cousins went on the shooting star and after they came over and said we were baby s If we didn t go on the... We advently saw a pinch of sun before it went away, and then we were first in line. So me, my mom, and Sam stepped into the log chute. Then we started to float down the stream and then we took hard right and slowly went the lift and all you could here was click clack, click clack, click clack. Once off the lift we hit some rapids and we went by the home run chair; then all a sudden we went down the hill after the drop my heart was racing. Then we went up another lift to go to the massive drop my heart was racing, my stomach felt like it was going to explode. Then we went straight down, and we made a massive wave making water go everywhere. Till this day the log chute is one the scariest rides at Camp Snoopy because your just sitting in the log chute, so you have to girl the metal bar for my life.I felt that then and a I feel it
  • 5. Volkswagen s The Environmental Protection Agency Volkswagen has found itself entangled in one of the most serious automotive scandals today. On September 18th, 2015 Volkswagen was accused of installing defective devices into their V6 diesel automobiles; the cars of Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen, all owned by Volkswagen AG (Customer Report, customerreports.org) were all affected. When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was informed of this allegation, they set out an investigation to see whether this was true or false. The news broke when the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had determined that Volkswagenhad installed a defeat device, otherwise known as a software code used to cheat on emissions tests, on approximately 11 million vehicles in the US and Germany (Jason Bisnoff, NYDailyNews.com). This device would enable the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) to be trapped during the testing phase, and at the point it was taken off the dynamometer test device the vehicle would pick up signals that the car is going on the road and the trap would shutoff. By Volkswagen making this horrific adjustment, they have supported one of the key ingredients in the release of a highly poisonous gas into the environment which produces smog, contributes to cardiovascular problems, and respiratory problems, such as asthma, and also produces acid rain. This is a bigger issue for the people who live in Silicon Valley, and all around Southern California; this is very important as people who have these existing medical issues are in
  • 6. A Comparison Of Bell Jar And Duncan In The Way Life is like a game of Russian roulette, a lot of it involves luck. Nobody can t know what s going to happen next, only hope that it s going to turn out well in the end. Although in the end, no matter what anybody has been through, these things shape them, they make them who they are. There s a point in life which arguably is the most important in turning them into the person they are, these are the teenage years. Everything can be great until then, but life throws a curveball and now it seems like everything has turned against them. Some people get through this, becoming a better person in the end; others aren t so lucky. This was the case for both Esther in The Bell Jarand Duncan in The Way Way Back in their teenage years they faced some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As kids we re taught that we can get most anything we want with screaming, crying, and or telling. It s a terrible lesson to teach kids, and sadly that s the way most are taught. Once the kids become teenagers and approach adulthood they re hit with the realization that crying won t fix everything. Duncan, like most others and sometimes myself, combat this via silence. Instead of talking out Duncan would avoid the problems that he faced instead of dealing with them head on. Owen had jokingly told Duncan, I m afraid I m gonna have to ask you to leave. [...] I m getting complaints. You re having way too much fun. It s making everyone uncomfortable (Faxon). Now Duncan of course doesn t understand that this a joke, but instead of questioning why he s being fired he goes simply replies Okay and was about to leave. I typically feel like this and it s a bad thing to do because if I can t resolve my problems how am I supposed to move past them, same with Duncan. The coming of age experience teaches young adults many things ranging from life will throw you curveballs to sometimes you won t be able to catch these curveballs. The point isn t to sulk in the past of all the bad things that had happened to you, it s to move past them to make you a better person. Coming of age experiences are important because they shape you into the person you are, even if they re not particularly fun all the time. All your experiences carry value with them, they re important to have because of lessons that they teach

Through these adaptations, we have begun to communicate through our newly developed technology by means of social media. In today s society, we are surrounded by sites such as Facebook, Twitter, E Mail, and various other websites that can often times consume our lives. While social media has plenty of advantages, it also has disadvantages that often times get ignored. Since then, the rates have only increased. Because adolescents are growing up with more access to social networking, texting and instant messaging on various sites have become prime means of communication. • 8. Distinct Societies Developed In New England And The... Jacob Fine Mr. Rhodes 12 9 15 APUSH 1. Distinct societies developed in New England and the Chesapeake bay by 1700 due to the fact that they had different motives . From a social perspective, New England s intent was to explore and discover new lands where they could in search of religious freedom, while the Chesapeake society explored their new lands in a quest for material wealth. Economically, New England aimed to profit from nature, by lumbering, fishing, and trading, yet the Chesapeake society wanted on to make their fortune through growing tobacco. From a religious standpoint, the government of New England was created with the intent of escaping the reach and persecution of the powerful english church, while the Chesapeake region was more focused on following traditional english religion. 2. • 9. Joy Is Not Just Happiness In our everyday lives, joy has become synonymous with both happiness and pleasure. We have diminished the meaning of the word by using it in place of the more appropriate terms in order to provide emphasis. C.S. Lewis takes more literal definition of joy, and so assigns it more significance in his mind, separating it from any other emotion. Though he acknowledges that oftentimes happiness and pleasure occur simultaneously with joy, they are not the root cause, nor are they the same emotion. I think the best distinction Lewis makes between happiness and pleasure is when he states Joy... must have the stab, the pang, the inconsolable longing (Lewis 72). This look into the root of joy demonstrates that joy is not just happiness, it is more complex and not always a fully positive emotion. There can be sadness and longing behind the joy, but it does not diminish the great properties of joy. Because joy is so great it is often sought, but as Lewis says it is never a possession, always a desire for something longer ago or further away or still about to be (Lewis 78). The fleeting nature of joy only adds to the intrigue, as it often comes at the most unexpected times. Lewis recognizes this, as he titled the book Surprised by Joy. Lewis also thinks that one s definition of joy is constantly changing with our experiences. As he learned more about some subject, one that used to bring him joy to study, he realizes that this was something quite different from the original Joy.
  • 10. The Scientific Revolutions and Copernicus Book Essay The Scientific Revolutions and Copernicus Book In the sixteenth and seventeenth century a Scientific Revolution swept over Europe. The start of this Scientific Revolution has been atributed to Nicolaus Copernicus and his Heliocentric Model of the Universe. Copernicus was born in Torun Poland on February 19, 1473. His parents both died when he was very young so he was sent to live with his uncle who was a high ranking official in the Church. Copernicus studied canon law, medicine, astronomy, Greek, philosophy, and mathematics. His diversified fields of study led him to hold the positions of physician, teacher, member of parliament, and canon law expert for the Church. At the age of twenty Copernicus left Poland for Italy for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Church felt that the earth as the center of the universe showed the special place that man had in the eyes of God. The Church believed that this model was divine and therefore any criticism on the Ptolmaic model coud be viewed as direct criticism on God. As a result of the Church s strong view many scientists were scared from disagreeing with it for fear of being labled as a heretic and possibly being excommunicated. Copernicus feared the Church so much that he left Italy and returned to Poland so that he could continue his work without fear of persecution. No one seriously dismissed the Ptolemaic theory of the universe until 1616 when Galileo began to teach the Heliocentric Model of the Universe. Galileo proved Copernicus s theory to his students by showing them the planets through the use of telescopes. The Ptolemaic Model of the Universe stated that the Earth was at the center of the universe, the planets, stars rotated around the Earth in a perfect uniform circular motion, and that all of the objects in the Heavens were made of perfect material that could not change. Nicolaus Copernicus was not the first person to develop the theory of a sun centered universe. Aristarchus of Samos was the first to propse the theory of a Heliocentric Universe in 200 B.C.. This theory is very similar to the Ptolemic model of the universe. The major difference is that the sun not the

Also take careful attention to notice the difference in the two quarters from 2004 and 2006. It looks like a majority of your sales representatives are making solid revenue for the company. Graphic Recommendation My recommendation would be for starters, enroll every sales rep in a sales training class. Upon completion of I would set a goal that each sales rep must contribute at least 10% of the net income for the company. Since there are 9 sales reps this leaves some room for extra. This will not only force the sales reps to work together, and encourage friendly competition. I also recommend you elect a sales representative team leader (for example Miss Peacock who is consistently your top sales person) and empower her to encourage, coach and teacher the other sales reps in her methods and tricks. ANALYSIS 3: Total Revenues by Month in 2005 Analysis After careful consideration, I decided to look at the yearly trend of just 2005 since we have all the data from that year. If you will notice, October is by far the biggest selling month, whereas July is the lowest, but mostly the trend is pretty consistent across the year. Graphic Recommendation I recommend that we find out what about October spikes sales, and try to apply it to the rest of the year. Also, I d consider adding special sales and discounts in March and April, the lowest sales months of the year, that should help

Penguins have adapted well over the course of many years, for swimming and hunting purposes. Everyone knows that penguins are weird birds that can t fly and have to waddle on land, but what most people don t know about are the harms that penguins have been exposed to and the fact that many penguins are endangered, if not vulnerable to endangerment. It seems unusual that birds can t fly, but it s brilliant that they can practically fly underwater ! The World Book (2008 ed.) states that penguins use the same motion to swim as other birds use to fly. These flipper y fowls can zoom through the water at a rate of eight miles an hour, but if they really must, they can swim above twenty miles for the same amount of time! Penguins take breaths every minute so they soar by the surface and pounce into the air on occasion, although they can hold their breath for almost twenty minutes as they dive deep below into the water. Penguins can plunge as deep as 900 feet. That s 300 times their average height! They are not only so fabulous underwater; penguins can toboggan across the snow on their bellies or climb over rocks if they need to! Rockhopper penguins, as one might assume, are named after their ability to hop over rocks easier than most other penguins. Rockhoppers are also able to pencil dive (feet first) into the water, unlike most other penguins, and can leap back into the air as high as three times their height and grab onto perches above them with their tiny

Now, CNX Nifty could be predicted or not on a random basis gives rise to many a questions. This sounds redolent with any predictive modeling though with a certain degree of accuracy in built in to the system. The major point of consideration is that predictive modeling could be done by various measures and mechanisms. In predictive modeling Multiple Adaptive Regression (MARS), Classification and Regression Trees (CART), Logistic OLS or Non Linear OLS could be used. It was swarmed with presence of stories, some strange, some nefarious, and some just utterly incredible. But for those who think like me, Vietnam, even in its times of horror and imperfections, can really bring out the very true nature in someone. But I do not kill innocent creatures out of sheer fun or stupidity, I do it to survive. And I sure as h*ll would never torture villagers who are only helping me by cleaning my gun. But listen. Even that story is made up. I don t kill animals, nor live in the wilderness, nor do I associate myself with monkeys. I want you to feel what I felt as I was present in Alpha Company . Sometimes I felt like a monkey in a cage when I was in the presence of that company; putting on a show for them by looking beautiful. Sometimes I even felt as though living in the wilderness could alleviate my anger towards that company. I also made up that story to highlight the reality of war stories. Sometimes, in many war stories, it is difficult for the reader or listener to separate what happened from what seemed to happen. What appeared to happen could become its own story and therefore people begin to tell the story that way. A true war story doesn t require a PHD to understand it. Here is what really happened to me after I left the group of soldiers. I came across this old, meek, and innocent looking lady. Her name is Thi Dung. But I call her Ong Dung out of respect. I told her that the American soldiers who are here in Vietnam are good for nothing sly devils. I also told

Knowledge is the full utilization of information and data, coupled with the potential of people s skills, competencies, ideas, intuitions, commitments and motivations. In today s dynamic and complex business environment, the desire for knowledge has increased even more with the scope and content changed dramatically, often spreading outside the organization. Firstly, Polanyi (1958) coined the term tacit and divided knowledge into tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge based on the degree of expression and he says We know more than we can tell . Tacit knowledge is the knowledge embedded in people s mind, usually easy to observe but hard to formalize and communicate to others. A good example given for it is the knowledge on how to ride a bicycle or drive a car. Whereas for the explicit knowledge can be easily captured and stored, hence it can be transferred and communicated to others. The most common form of explicit knowledge is manuals, documents, procedures and others. What is knowledge management? According to experts, it fosters the creation, accumulation, organization, reuse, retrieval, sharing, and transfer of knowledge in organizations (Alavi and Leidner, 2001; Liebowitz, 1999). Wiig, also defined it as a group of clearly defined process or methods used to search important knowledge among different knowledge management operations. The Gartner Group (2005) has

  • 20. Treasure State By Tin House Summary The Hidden Treasures in Treasure State The short story, Treasure State by Tin House, is full of reflection, guilt, and loneliness. Mainly, the story entails the journey of two brothers fleeing their hometown after their incarcerated father, Old Man, is granted mercy due to his terminal cancer to return home. The brothers, John and Daniel, would rather leave town than to live with the Old Man so they set their eyes on the treasure state, Montana. The story details their journey to wild destinations and fleeing their past while making it by any means necessary. Along the way, readers are introduced to a few minor female characters: Gwen, the mother of the boys, and the lady on the bed. The importance of these minor characters is grossly underappreciated. This is because while the main themes of this story are readily apparent, there are some equally important themes driven by this group of more underrepresented female characters. Treasure State is the documentation of the journey of John and Daniel as they run away from their father who is coming home from prison. At each destination, the boys rob the families of the dead to trade off the treasures for money to fund their expedition. At the first mid destination, the boys are caught post robbery. Being forced to awkwardly mingle with the people they had just robbed, Daniel takes a tour around the home, spotting a new character in the story, Gwen. Gwen is a teenager who is currently dealing with the death of a family member, yet is attempting to run away with the brothers. However, John treats her as a problem or a threat to their mission, and makes her leave before driving away. Even though Gwen knew the boys robbed the home, she neglected to tell the authorities or her family about the heist. After their first robbery, a flashback critical to the development of the story takes place. It is of the boys when they were younger, and before the Old Man was incarcerated. Back then, John kept a hammer in his bed to kill his father upon his arrival to their room. Daniel was the brother who was usually punished for his soft nature and sometimes even for John s actions. The story shares that John dismantled a half acre s worth of pumpkins with this hammer by

Nature is the main central idea of Transcendentalism, and each author has different ideas about nature, and their writing methods are different. Emerson, is the author who is main representative of Transcendentalism, and Bryant have a slightly different style of Emerson. Bryant was born in Cumington, Massachusetts, and began writing poetry before he was nine years old. Bryant s family is Puritan family, when he was a child, he was often ill, and his father asked him to walk in the forest to strengthen his constitution, which gave him a keen interest in nature. Bryant s position combines the impulses of the British romantic school and his own New England conservatism. His life gradually moved away from the Calvinism of religion, the political transition from federalism to unification and Jackson s democratic attitudes. He thought poetry was an art of association, it inspires readers imagination with symbolism rather than direct imitation of life, and hold the reader s feelings and arouse them to act with passion. His style throughout the 19th century formed the mainstream of American poetry (1). He is one of the representatives of the transcendentalists. Transcendentalism was not a rejection of Unitarianism, rather, it developed as an organic consequence of the Unitarian emphasis on free conscience and the value of intellectual reason. The

While watching this movie, I noticed many trends common among similar stories, such as the girl who can see ghosts, the ghost who can t pass on to heaven because he has a regret, and the boy who likes the girl. Although these clichГ©s were not mentioned in Foster s book, there were still many things I could deduce about the movie only after reading about Foster s methods. Of Thomas C. Foster s twenty seven chapters, in his book, How To Read Literature Like A Professor, the chapters I found most applicable to my movie were chapters nine, eleven, and fifteen. Firstly, chapter nine of Foster s book made one thing very clear: It s never just the rain. (Foster, 70) Since rain can be more mysterious, murkier, more isolating than most other weather conditions (Foster, 71), the director uses the rain to add a bit of mystery to the mood of the joyful scene with this unnamed, mysterious boy whom the female protagonist (Xiying) is interested in (romantically). The rain also serves as a plot device and force pushing Xiying and the boy together, even though it s clear that Xiying is going to end up with A Tuo (the boy who likes her). The purpose of pushing Xiying and the mystery boy together is to create enough of a connection between them for Xiying to choose the boy over A Tuo

Many women in similar occupations as men, and having the same qualifications are only paid a fraction of what their male counterparts are paid. Those women made a weekly salary of 570 dollars while those men made 833 dollars. This is also true in many other occupations such as sales and technical operations (6). Some would say that this is the case because men are better qualified and more competent in their jobs. Since the year 1981, women have graduated from college in greater numbers than men. Women had 465, 000 graduates while men had 470, 000 in 1980. This gap would be closed and eclipsed by women in 1981. That year 480, 000 women earned a bachelors degree while men only had 473, 000 (4). The gap in the number of college graduates is increasing in favor of women. So, it would seem that there are more highly qualified women out there than there are men. Then why is it that men are still being paid more? Discrimination seems the only viable answer to the earnings gap. When one looks at the mean income of year round workers in 1994, men with only some college experience still made more than women with a bachelors degree. This gap increases as the level of educational accomplishment rises. Men with a master s degree made an average yearly salary of 62, 368 dollars while women with the same degree made only 43, 601 dollars (5). These numbers seem to greatly support the discrimination case. When women first entered the labor force they were

The Clash Of Zionism And Arab Nationalism Essay Introduction to Middle East Politics Midterm Essay Minahil Tauseef Clash of Nationalisms The clash of Zionism and Arab nationalism has led to the longest running conflict in the history of the world that shapes the politics of the Middle East to this day. The roots of the modern Arab Israeli conflict can be found in the rise of Zionism and Arab nationalism towards the end of the 19th century. The source of the conflict is territorial claims over a small piece of land that is the historical homeland for two different nationalities. Palestine has historically held great significance for the Jews. Zionism transformed that religious attachment and made it into a basis for a claim onnational grounds that this is their national home. This set them in potential conflict with another nationality, the Arabs, who seePalestine as historically and currently belonging to the Arabs, and in the Pan Islamic context, as Muslim lands. Over the course of this paper, I will talk about why the Arab Israeli conflict was inevitable and why these two ideologies were fated to clash. In order to understand the clash, we must first understand the importance of the region that has been the focus of two conflicting territorial claims. The Jewish claim to the state of Israel is rooted in the nearly six thousand year old belief of Jews that Israel is the homeland promised to them by God in the Torah. Also backup and restore will take a lesser time Major disadvantage is that storing unstructured data will significantly increase the size of databases which will lead to more time for backup and restore of these databases and can cause performance issues with I/O subsystems The big disadvantage of this approach is that we have to create and maintain manual links between database and external file system files which can potentially go out of sync. Also since data is stored outside the system the backups are not consistent and unstructured data is not a part of the transaction. Hybrid Approach: To overcome the disadvantages of the methods discussed above, another method was the Hybrid Approach, which proposes Database engine to support a new data type filestream . • 35. Compare And Contrast Tsunami And Tsunami Tsunamis are devastating natural disasters which have huge impacts on population. They are series of fast travelling ocean waves of extremely long length and occurs in coastal areas. The word Tsunami comes from two Japanese words meaning harbour wave . Tsunami waves are extremely rapid ocean waves. Although Tsunamis are commonly known as tidal waves, they are actually unrelated to tidal activities. Tsunamis are more common around the Pacific Ocean because of earthquakes and volcanic eruption in the ring of fire. Each year on average, two tsunamis occur around the world. In many ways, Tsunamis are similar to regular waves as they aren t just moving water, they are energy moving through water. The difference is how this energy is formed. Normal ocean waves come from the wind. On the other hand, Tsunamis are caused by energy originating underwater from earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides or meteorite crashes. These underwater activities release massive amounts of energy into the surface which then displaces water, raising it above the average sea level. The waves try escaping, but gravity pulls it back down and makes the energy spread out horizontally. This is when the Tsunamistarts heading to the shore. Once a tsunami wave is born, there s no stopping it since the energy generated is massive. When one set of tsunami wave reaches the shoreline, the others catch up due to the compressed energy. These series of waves are called Tsunami wave trains . It is stated that tsunamis sound like standing near a moving freight train. They can travel approximately 700 km/h, faster than a flying jet plane. The waves reach up to about 30 m on average. Although this is very high, there can be waves at a much higher level. They are called Mega Tsunamis . Mega Tsunamis can reach the height of more than 250 m and are usually caused by landslides or large volcanic eruptions. When Tsunamis start to reach the shore, they slow down in speed but increase in height rapidly. Tsunamis are deadly so it is crucial to watch out for different signals. There are tsunami warning systems attached to the buoys in the sea that transmits data and work as a warning system. There are a few other warnings the ocean sends just before the

  • 37. Diclofenac Research Paper Among the anti inflammatory drugs, diclofenac sodium is a potent and widely used non steroidal anti inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic compound in the world. Diclofenac belongs to the acetic acid class of non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAIDs) that includes indomethacin, etodolac, ketorolac, nabumetone, tolmetin, and sulindac. Like other NSAIDs, diclofenac acts by inhibiting cellular cyclooxygenases (Cox 1 and Cox 2), which results in a decrease in production of pro inflammatory prostaglandin, prostacyclin, and thromboxane. Diclofenac has analgesic as well as antipyretic and anti inflammatory activities. Diclofenac sodium is mainly indicated in the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Experiments showed that the main route of drug elimination is different in various species, renal excretion being the most important in man and rhesus monkey and biliary excretion the most important in rat and dog. The lack of enterohepatic recycling in man probably accounts for the reduced gastrointestinal toxicity of this drug (Menasse et al., 1978). Earlier workers documented enhanced rates of leucopoiesis and depressed erythropoiesis in bone marrow on aspirin treatment (Merchant and Modi, 2004). NSAIDs are eicosanoid depressing drugs which are used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, muscular ache by suppressing pain and inflammation. NSAIDs have been reported to diminish bone formation, healing, and remodeling (Nair et al., 2006). Approximately 20% of black people were unemployed, compared to only 5.4% of unemployed white people (Street,2007). These statistics represent racial inequality which caused a lot of internal, and external damage to the black population. Rogue Sociologist, Sudhir Venkatesh s (2008) novel called GangLeader for a Day, reveals this disparity. In 1989 Sudhir participated in qualitative research, by studying the lives of people from the projects of Chicago. The projects are a subsidized housing development, provided by the government which requires low rent. Sudhir s research is unique because it provides knowledge, that just statistics could not give. Also it portrays social disorganization in the community, specifically, the Robert Taylor Homes. Shaw and McKay s social disorganization theory is that crime increases when poverty, ethnic diversity, and constant moving of houses, leads to social disorganization in the community (Sampson Groves,1989). This paper will discuss how the Robert Taylor Homes support the social disorganization theory, due to an unstable family life, and poor economic conditions. Following, this paper will discuss the ways in which the community challenged disorganization, because of the homogenous population, and lack of mobility. As the mainstream world in 1989 grew economically, conditions in the projects were contrary. Approximately 96% of the residentsin the

Most people wouldn t expect that there are more crooks in an expensive school since in a society only upper class and some middle class people would be able to afford to go to an expensive school. People would think the types of people that go to an expensive school must be respectable and have a good nature, since they are trying to become educated and prepared for the world. Instead, according to Holden there are more crooks in an expensive school than other types of schools. In a way this makes sense because the children that go to expensive schools must be from a family

Nurse Led Case Management Program for Older Adults with Co Morbidities In a study conducted by Chow and Wong (2014), they analyzed a case management team led by nurses and the effectiveness of the care coordination regarding older adults whom are diagnosed with co morbidities. Utilizing a randomized controlled trial during 2010 to 2012, the researchers analyzed older adults who suffered from at least two chronic illnesses (Chow Wong, 2014). Those chosen to be analyzed were then further divided into three groups, including one control groups and two study groups (Chow Wong, 2014). Baseline data was gathered and collected at four weeks and then again at twelve weeks from the two hundred and eighty one patients participating (Chow Wong, 2014). The two study groups in which interventions in which nurse led case management occurred, resulted in lower readmission rates within an eighty four day frame after discharge from hospitalization. Additionally these participants rated their health and self sufficiency at a higher level than the control group (Chow Wong, 2014). Conclusions gathered from research indicates that care coordination after discharge led by nurses whom empower patients are effective in improving clinical outcomes for older patients with co morbidities (Chow Wong, 2014). In Hospital acquired infection: the challenges of the law of negligence , Rachel Hanly states, a utopian aspiration for the health system is that all dangers to patients can be eradicated, but realism entails that the maximum should be done, by the providers and users, to curtail any threats to the safety of vulnerable patients . The hospital must maintain a controlled safety environment as it must be aware of any risks which are present at any other place, aside from a home (Wilkinson, 2003, p.87). The National Audit Office (2000) states that infections acquired in hospitals in the United Kingdom ultimately cost around ВЈ1bn a year, affecting almost 10% of patients and causing over 5000 deaths a year and so the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) was started in 2001 to focus solely on patient safety issues. The Handwashing Liaison Group recommended washing hands with soap and water when there is soiling and that staff should use an alcohol glycerol hand rub between interactions with patients.
