2. Online Dating Analysis
Another aspect that social media drives is that of the human condition; one interesting phenomena that
has developed has been online dating. Although one would hope that people are still meeting and
developing relationships the old fashioned way that being meeting face to face, online dating now
represents (Beck 2013). In fact, in 2013, 23% of all people that meet online will get married (1). The
author establishes that the number is expected to continue to grow as more people spend time online
rather than in a live social setting. It could be argued that in the absence of people meeting in settings
conducive to intermingling, those who were shy or seeking a specific type of person would use a
dating service. To a certain extent, there is direct connectivity to having faith in a third party to match
people. Although afraid to engage the social network as a way of meeting a partner because of the fear
of the unknown, in reality it could be suggested that meeting someone through a dating service also
did not present that much more security (1).

Many researchers argue that social media provides a cloak by which people can hide behind. In other
instances, the Internet has established a place for those who fear interacting in the real world. They
can now safely communicate and build relationships. The topic of cloaking is interesting because prior
to the internet, people had to venture out into the world and had to communicate live with people, the
process developed social skills that are threatening to be lost as social networking continues to grow.
At the forefront is the notion that social media as well as personal electronics is killing communication
(Tardanico 2012). The author reflecting on an incident that occurred between a friend and her daughter

3. America Vote Act ( Hava )
I was surprised to discover that voter identification began in 1950 when South Carolina became the
first state to request some form of identification from voters at the polling precincts. Then Hawaii
followed in 1970, Texas in 1971, Florida in 1977, and Alaska in 1980. Some of them asked for an ID
with a photo, while others asked for any type of document with or without a photo; all provided other
means for people to vote if they couldn t present identification. By 2000, fourteen states were asking
for voter identification documents ( Voter ID ). That year, we had a highly disputed presidential
election. Following its outcome, the United States Congress passed the Help America Vote Act
(HAVA) in 2002, which ushered in comprehensive election reform. Under the law, states are required
to follow mandatory minimum standards that included implementing new programs and procedures
such as provisional voting; voting information and voter education; upgraded, tested and certified
voting technology; statewide voter registration list; voter identification procedures; and an improved
election administration system ( Help America Vote Act ). The Commission on Federal Election
Reform advocated similar propositions in their 2005 report (69 70). Consequently, voter ID laws were
enacted around the country. The laws require eligible voters to produce government issued
identification before casting a countable ballot at the polls. Voter identification, categorized between

4. Traditional Voting In America
Introduction Most democratic societies are fueled by the power of the people and when the
opportunity to use that power is removed you should expect rash repercussions. History has displayed
that time and time again. America being the long time democratic leader of the free world has seen
many instances where groups within the population felt like their voting rights weren t being
respected. America as a nation has slightly overcame those struggles but currently there are still many
obstacles between the average voter and actually casting a vote. Many problems include lack of time,
lack of convenience, lack of knowledge, and more. To combat this we have explored the alternatives
to the traditional voting in a booth method that is so popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many jobs require people to travel thus disqualifying them from voting where they are registered.
People with disabilities have a hard time getting to the polls and are not always given special
accommodation from the government in order to ensure they are able to vote. It is also inconvenient
for elderly people to get the polls in order to vote for things that directly affect them. Because of this,
issues regarding raising minimum wage for the working class, rights for people with disabilities, and
Social Security are not reflected in the polls. In a democratic society, it is important to have
representation of all citizens. Unfortunately, the current voting system is a way to subconsciously

5. A Study On New Guinea
New Guinea is located in Indonesia, which is situated between Asia and Australia. Papua is a country
which occupies the eastern half of New Guinea and is not a very well explored country,
geographically, or culturally. A small tribe of about 3000 people occupies a remote and rural part of
the southeastern side of the island and they are known as the Korowai tribe. The Korowai people were
discovered in Papua New Guinea in 1974. This tribe along with many other tribes in Papua New
Guinea experience little to no contact with other tribes or outsiders. The Korowai tribe is unique
because they are one of the few tribes on Earth that are still believed to practice cannibalism. Even

The tall treehouses serve the purpose of protecting the children and women from capitation by other

Yes, the Korowai people have practiced cannibalism, according to anthropologists. Emily Payne, a
publisher in the Daily Mail, says anthropologists suspect that cannibalism is no longer practiced by the
Korowai clans, despite reports of it as recently as 2006 (Payne, 2015). A reporter for the Smithsonian
magazine named, Paul Raffaele, visited the Korowai tribe in New Guinea to find the truth about their
cannibalism. He reported that, today the Korowai are among the very few tribes believed to eat human
flesh. They live about 100 miles inland from the Arafura Sea, which is where Michael Rockefeller, a
son of then New York governor Nelson Rockefeller, disappeared in 1961 while collecting artifacts
from another Papuan tribe; his body was never found. Most Korowai still live with little knowledge of
the world beyond their homelands and frequently feud with one another. Some are said to kill and eat
male witches they call khakhua.

6. Queen Elizabeth In The Renaissance Era
Throughout the Renaissance Era there have been stories of kings, knights and heroic heroes, but
hardly ever does one hear about a Queen making history. Queen Elizabeth I, was a queen who one
does not really talk about or know any stories of her, but there is so much to know about her. Queen
Elizabeth s life growing up, accomplishments as queen, and her later years are something everyone
should know about its history. Queen Elizabeth s life growing up had some difficult circumstances,
but this had no effect over her ruling. She was able to maintain peace in a country, which was divided
previously.
Queen Elizabeth was born on September 7, 1533 ( Queen Elizabeth I 1). King Henry VIII was her
father and Anne Boleyn was her mother, wich was her father s second wife (3). At the age of only two
years old, her mother was killed by her father over accusations of committing adultery and conspiracy
(3). King Henry VIII died in 1547, Elizabeth was taken into care by her stepmother Catherine Parr (3).
Tension between Elizabeth and her stepfather, Thomas Seymour started to occur, Elizabeth returned to
Hatfield, the royal estate, away from the court (3). The relationship between the two never subsided
and Elizabeth had him executed for conspiring to marry her to gain power (3). Elizabeth had an older
half sister, Mary Tudor and a half brother Edward Tudor (3). Edward was King Henry s only son with
his third wife, Jane Seymour, Edward was set upon the throne, after his father s death,

7. Lack Of Support For The African American Community Essay
John McWhorther argues that African Americans, Like insecure people everywhere, are driven by a
private sense of personal inadequacy to seeing imaginary obstacles to their success supposedly planted
by others. This is his theory of victimhood. However, McWorther incorrectly and insensitively denies
that there are indeed obstacles obstructing African American pursuits. He maintains similar standpoint
as D Souza who also points a disdainful and disappointing finger at the African American community.
Both take a microscopic view of blacks and assume that there must be a character flaw in black design
for we live in an egalitarian society and if blacks wanted to rise, there are no forces restricting them to
do so; false. These critics would rather dissect black culture and the black man himself instead of the
American structures that keep many enslaved to oppression. The lack of support provided for the
African American community allows society to maintain their stigmatized image of them; restricting
them from rising above the stereotypes and presumptions that they must work ten times harder to
overcome.
Both McWhorther and D Souza undermine the idea of cause and effect. For example, when young
black boys and girls disproportionately live in poverty. This trend leads these same children to
inadequate school systems where their hunger for food and sustenance displaces a hunger for
education. Many of whose intellect and promise are also overcast by an unhealthy home and

10. Kant And Kant s Philosophy
A transcendental principle is one by which we think the universal a priori condition which alone
things can become objects of our cognition in general[.]
Immanuel Kant, p 20 of Critique of Judgment This quote most aptly describes Kant s purpose in
writing a critique of aesthetic judgment, with the most important term being transcendental. The
Oxford Dictionary defines the word as presupposed in and necessary to experience (what Kant refers
to as a priori). In this sense, it is something that pertains to elements of human experience and then in
turn conditions human knowledge. Basically (and specific to this essay and to Kant s theory), what
needs to be present for a judgment of aesthetics to occur? Kant divides the Analytic of Aesthetic
Judgment into four moments according to the four divisions of the table of logical functions of
judging: quality, quantity, relation and modality. In doing research for this essay, I found that Kant was
interested in analytical investigations into many subjects and did so in an almost scientific fashion, so
this sort of division makes sense. Each moment is serial, and the questions raised in one moment are
then addressed in the following moment. I have used the logical functions of judging to help me find
the moments that judgment takes into consideration when it reflects (Kant, pg. 43). Based on this
context, these moments are not temporal moments, but more realms of thought or consideration. How

11. Being Human In The Book Of Job And Antigone
What does it mean to be human? To be human means to have as a goal in life to find happiness, but by
suffering through the path. On the other hand, as humans, we tend to have different perspectives and
ideas about the world, but that can lead to a huge discussion and debate between what is considered
right and wrong. For that reason, there are laws that regulates de society, or polis, in order to maintain
peace and justice. Furthermore, there should be always a head or an individual in charge to be the one
who defines justice from injustice and to take responsibility of the polis. However, not always the
individual responsible for the position is capable or has the skills to do it. Being human means that we
are not perfect, and every single one of us will make several mistakes. We are not going to make the
right decisions all the time, and we are going to face temptations that will, probably, drag us to a bad
position that will later bring severe consequences. This two pieces of humanity I am focusing on can
be reflected in The Book of Job and Antigone.
In The Book of Job, we can clearly get the idea of Job suffering because his faith is being tested. At
the beginning, he thought he was a wealthy man and had found happiness. He had a perfect life. As
time passed, Satan and God made a deal to prove Job s loyalty towards God. Along the way, Job
suffers different types of loses; he loses his children, his goods and he suffers physically. Why is light

12. Analysis Of Black Mirror By Charlie Brooker Essay
Black Mirror is a British TV show on Netflix created by Charlie Brooker which represent the modern
society with technologies and the side effects in positive and negative ways. Since memory is
malleable and it interprets our memories based on our feeling in the present, technology in Black
Mirror helps to navigate the imperfection of communication, relationship and our memory in the
society. The technology such as the Grain in The Entire History of You episode and the Z eye in White
Christmas episode have interfered human being s life in some aspects. Black Mirror has showed us the
consequences of using technology in our lives. As long humans exist in these lives, consequences will
never go anywhere. It still exists and people cannot deny that because it is the cost of being human,
indeed they cannot separate good and bad. When human have AI implanted in their bodies, their lives

It is clear that he loves the nature and history of Cape Cod. In the preface, Finch states that Cape Cod
created within him a passion for discovery (Finch X) His style is very expressive; he utilizes long,
descriptive sentences.
Delivery:
Most aspects of the books delivery don t help it or harm it in communicating its message. However,
the front and back covers play a role in the book s message. The image depicted on the front is a
beautiful painting of the dunes and beach of Cape Cod. The fact that it is a painting gives the viewer
the sense that it is old and contains rich history. It also may entice the reader to discover more about
the beautiful location.
Personal Response Overall, I enjoyed The Primal Place by Robert Finch. It was probably the book I
enjoyed the most from our nature writing unit. I think he managed to describe nature well and
thoroughly without dragging on for too long. He also seemed less radical than Dillard, Ehlrich, and
Thoreau, which made him more relatable. Also, the topics of his writing are more varied. He discusses
the ecology and history of Cape Cod and relates them well to the present. I could see lots of Thoreau
influence in the book, mainly in the chapter structure. Both Thoreau and Finch often begin a chapter
with smaller observations and extend them to more profound

The warrior Achilles, within the final year of the Trojan War, has shown why he is a skilled warrior
and revved individual, nearly godlike. In addition to that, at times throughout the lliad, showing his
humanity in moments that have touched him dearly. As it is portrayed throughout the lliad, when it
came down between the embassies of Priam and Agamemnon s, it would be a decision which Achilles
makes ultimately for his own reasoning and benefit. It would be Priam, who would be able to sway the
great Achilles in the return of his son s body, while Agamemnon s would ultimate fail. It would be for
the reason which Priam and Achilles shared in a moment of loss for individuals they cared for deeply.
That it is with the aid of Priam s embassy, that Achilles is able to further reach in achieving his goal of

The relationship or lack thereof between Achilles and Agamemnon would put them at odds constantly,
both having different agendas and views in regards to the war. Early in the beginning, we saw that

Cisco engages in the field of high technology which implies that they usually have few truly straight

peace in a white marble tomb, built in the middle of Mother s House, and is surrounded by devotees,
who sit with their heads bowed, paying a silent tribute to the lady who gave up everything to serve the
poorest of the poor . Service to the poorest of the poor still continues to be the fundamental article of
faith in Missionaries of Charity.

23. Holden Caulfield Chapman
n the Catcher In The Rye by J.D Salinger, Many events and symbols contributed to why Mark David
Chapman and John Hinckley attempted their assassinations. The two really enjoyed the book and had
many copies in their possession. Mark David Chapman believed he could be Holden Caulfield if he
killed John Lennon and transfer to Caulfield s body. Caulfield loved children and considered the adult
world ugly and depressing. His dream, he told his younger sister Phoebe, was to be the catcher in the
rye and save people from falling over the cliff. To fall over the cliff seemed to represent falling into
the world of adults. mostly made up of phonies that Caulfield hated. Thus, Caulfield sought escape

successful corporate executive who had ties to the Bush family, Hinckley was a bright student who
played multiple sports in high school, excelled at piano lessons, and was twice elected class president.
As a young man, however, he exhibited signs of psychological turmoil. He developed a fascination
with firearms, and became consumed with various obsessions. Soon he was relying on anti
depressants and tranquilizers. Hinckley loved The Catcher in the Rye. It was known that he was
obsessed with a girl named Jodie Foster who he had written letters and called to get her attention. The
plan to assassinate President Reagan was hatched in order to somehow impress Foster, and thus catch
her in the rye. She didn t really want anything to do with him so he made the drastic decision to try
and kill the president to get her attention. He wrote her this letter right before the assassination
attempt; Over the past seven months I ve left you dozens of poems, letters and love messages in the
faint hope that you could develop an interest in me. Although we talked on the phone a couple of
times I never had the nerve to simply approach you and introduce myself.... The reason I m going
ahead with this attempt now is because I cannot wait any longer to impress you. John Hinckley Jr.

25. Chinese Americans And Filipino Americans
With all the discord going on around the word today, it is quite easy for us to forget that at the end of
the day, we are very much similar to each other. When we hear of the Chinese Americans and Filipino
Americans living in America today, not often do we see a connection between the two except for the
fact that they come from Asia or have descendants from Asia. If we dive deeper into history, we will
see that when the Chinese and the Filipinos first came to America, they had very similar purposes and
goals in mind; one of them being make money and go back home. They were both determined to work
hard for a country quite foreign to them but both were also targeted as the other side and a majority of
them suffered from ill treatments like assault and blatant discrimination.
Before the Chinese began to immigrate to America, China had previously lived in isolation from the
rest of the world for a while after Zheng He s voyages in the 15th century allowed the Chinese to
receive confirmation that they were much more advanced than any other group at that time. However,
China still participated in the Manila Galleon Trade with Mexico until the 1800s in which Chinese
goods such as silk, ivory and porcelain were exchanged for silver. In the late 1700s the first ship from
the United States with the name Empress of China sailed for China with intentions to start a trade
relationship between the two countries. The trip proved to be successful and led to investors being

26. Newspaper Style
Introduction
A newspaper headline is often the only thing that readers read in a newspaper, or at least, it is the first
thing that everyone notices in a newspaper. It serves as a indicator for the reader that helps decide
whether to continue on reading the whole text or to skip it onto another one. Each headline should be a
summary of the news which follows. A headline should be a regular sentence structure containing a
subject and a verb. It means that only lexical, not grammatical words are used. The major reason for
that is the space. Then the rule of a sentence may be broken, only minor sentences are used, and such a
headline can be rather difficult to understand. This happens on purpose to make the headline somehow

Articles and the verb to be in various functions are often left out. * LAS VEGAS A POTENTIAL

something that is happening, or something that happens repeatedly. * AFGHANS BEGIN MEETING

Sometimes the Present Continuous is used (usually to denote something that is changing or
developing), but the auxiliary verb is usually left out. * MAYOR ELECTION SPENDING SOARS *
SOUTH AFRICA RUNNING DRY * OUTBREAK OF FOOG POISONING HITS KYIV
To refer to the future, headlines often use the infinitive. * DENMARK TO VOTE * GIULIANI TO
CONSULT KLITCHKO * LARA FABIAN TO SING STYLISH EUROPEAN POP IN KYIV

27. Farm Girl
Summary of Farm Girl
Anderson Jude
ENG 115 Professor Chris Swindell
Strayer University
October 23rd, 2013
The short story Farm Girl is an in depth look at life through the eyes of a young girl growing up with
her family on a farm. Throughout this non fiction story the author Jessica Hemauer, does an amazing
job of describing her surroundings to pull the reader in and make them feel like they are there with
her. She begins as a younger girl describing how difficult it is for a child to awake from a deep
slumber, and immediately get to work doing jobs some grown men would cringe at. Cleaning out
various huts and pens and laying down fresh straw are part of our daily duties (Hemauer, 2011 p. 84).
She continues by explaining how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She uses her years of experience from working on the farm to her advantage, and is finally able to do
all the things she has always thought to be impossible. I join the homecoming club, audition for
musicals and plays, serve as the president of the student council as well as president of my class
(Hemauer, 2011 p. 86). Before ending the story she tells the reader how all of her activities have not
made her feel any less different then she did before. However, she comes to the realization that if it
had not been for all of those years of hard work on the farm, then she would not be able to manage her
time as well as she does to be able to participate in all those activities, and at the same time hold down
a job, and perform better than others in the work place (Hemauer, 2011).
The entire story I felt as if I was there on the farm with the young girl. I was drawn to read it more
than once not because it was difficult to understand, but because the descriptions were so vivid I did
not want to overlook anything. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the short story Farm Girl, and would
recommend it to anyone that is looking for an interesting story to read.

28. The History Of The United States And Forever Changed The...
Erastus Deaf Smith I chose to write this essay on a famous deaf person that completely changed the
history of the United States and forever changed the history of the state of Texas. This Deaf man could
moreover be singly part of the only reason the Texans do not speak fluent Spanish as their first
language that was born in the early part of 18th century. The reason I chose this individual is because
of my intrigue of American history, moreover, through my research I found that he introduced a fine
stock of Muley (meaning hornless) cattle from Louisiana to the San Antonio area, where the Longhorn
breed was previously popular. My intent of this paper is to bring the history of an extraordinary Deaf
man to light with his trials and triumphs. Erastus Deaf Smith was born April 19th,1787 In New York.
From his birth or a childhood illness, Deaf Smith experienced a partial hearing loss. It is believed that
his birth was breech and from that he suffered a lifetime of health issues and fragility. With his health
problems among them he suffered was severe lung problems most likely tuberculosis. Smith moved to
Mississippi in 1817 and then to Texas in 1821. During the time of his move to Mississippi and
permanency in the state of Texas, his health improved most likely from the change in the climates.
Smith also had the belief that eating skunk was a reason for his health improvement. After Smith had
settled into New Dewitt Colony near Gonzalez, Texas. He married Mexican

29. The Small Claims Procedure Essay
The Small Claims Procedure
The small claims procedure is regulated by RSA 503 in 1973. It is a simple, speedy, and informal
method by which an individual appears before a judge of the district or municipal court, presents his
or her claim, and explains why another person or business owes money to him or her. Small Claims
Court can award up to $5000 in damages (larger claims can be heard, but the maximum that can be
awarded is $5000).
Although not required in Small Claims Court, any persons or businesses involved in the proceedings
may be represented by a lawyer if they wish. Another aspect of a small claims proceeding is that a
judge may ask to hear any evidence deemed relevant and proper, since ... Show more content on

The system is still largely used by small businesses chasing debtors, rather than by the individual
consumer for whom it was set up. A consultation paper was issued in 1995 suggesting that, in limited
cases; the judge might be given the power to award an additional sum of up to £135 to cover the cost
of legal advice and assistance in the preparation of the case. I think this idea would really be useful for
claimants, and this would give a huge encouragement to the claimants to come to the court. Especially
for those who cannot actually afford to hire their own lawyer.
Either party may have a lawyer to represent him or her, but this is discouraged by the fact that the
winning party cannot claim back the cost of using a lawyer form the other party, but will have to pay
his own legal expenses. Instead of having a lawyer, the claimant or the defendant may have a lay
representative , that is, a non legally qualified person, with him or her at the hearing to help to put the
case.
The system is meant to be quick, but there can still be delays. Although the intention is that the case
should only go to court once, there may be several hearings because one of the parties is not ready; for
example, they have

30. Essay On Hades
Hades, or Pluto in Roman is one of the major 12 gods. His name in greek means unseen , which refers
to his cap which makes the wearer invisible. It also refers to him being the dark god. Hades like Zeus,
Poseidon, and his sisters Demeter, Hera and Hestia *(he was a son of Cronus and Rhea) Like all his
other siblings except Zeus, he was swallowed into Cronus s stomach. He and the others escaped
because Rhea tricked her husband into eating a rock, although he thought it was Zeus. Cronos
coughed out the kids and died.
Even though Hades isn t supposed to be scary, he doesn t look really look like how you would imagine
a death god to look like. He wears a purple robe, and has black hair and a beard. He also has a

Men thought that if you uttered the word Hades, then it would make death come sooner, so they didn t
ever say his name. Hades actually enjoyed being feared as the god of the underworld. If Hades ever
got lonely, he could always talk to Persephone or play with Cerberus the three headed dog.
Though people always think Hades is so scary being the god of the underworld, he is actually quite
nice. He just got unlucky. When Cronus was defeated, Zeus and his other two brothers drew a dice to
decide what god they would become. Zeus became the god of the skies, Poseidon became the sea god,
and Hades got unlucky and became the god of the underworld. Hades only gets mad and harsh when a
soul tries to leave the underworld or when people try to cheat death.
In conclusion, when you think of the underworld or death, you might think of this terrifying yet
underappreciated god, Hades. This god has always had tough times since he became unlucky and
turned into the god of the underworld. Hades may have been a little sneaky in trying to marry
Persephone, but he just got unlucky because of simple roll of the

31. Analysis Of The Brown House By Hisaye Yamamoto
Hisaye Yamamoto, a Japanese American author, composed a collection of short stories titled,
Seventeen Syllables and Other Stories. These collection of short stories describes the experiences
Japanese Americans undergo while residing in America. The Japanese American culture that
Yamamoto introduces has three types of generations. The first one being, the Issei, the second one
being, the Nisei and the third one being, the Sensei. All three Japanese generations are described in
Yamamoto s short story cycle, which shows the relationship between Japanese Americans as well as
with other ethnic groups. The major themes Yamamoto highlights within her novel defines the idea of
what it is like to be Japanese American through the difficulties that Japanese immigrants face in
America, the cultural separation between these immigrants and their children as well as restrictions
that Japanese women face within their traditional Japanese culture. The Brown House , a short story
within Yamamoto s novel, Seventeen Syllables and Other Stories, depicts the three themes that were
previously mentioned above. The Brown House displays a story about a Japanese American family,
the Hattoris, residing in the state of California. The Hattoris underwent financial struggles as their
strawberry picking season came to an end. This being stated, in an attempt to make some quick cash,
Mr. Hattori becomes desperate and gets involved in the gambling business at the brown house, in a
nearby neighborhood.

Rosemary s baby seems to identify with the three artistic intents. Polanski wanted to capture reality,
and that is what he did, he depicted them as a normal couple. He also expressed his vision of the devil
and how cults work, again, because of the way he depicted it, it seemed credible. Lastly he wanted to
affect our emotions. He made us connect with Rosemary and took us through a whirlwind of feelings
of suspicion, paranoia, happiness, shock, and more. Coincidentally his own pregnant wife suffered an
attack by satanic cult members. The people around the Manson Murders had some things in common
with the movie which was released a year before. Some would even say that Polanski predicted his
wife s soon to be murder. However, that is another
