Mother-Daughter Relationships
The relationship between parents and their children is one of the most basic human interactions.
Mothers and daughters provide both physical and emotional care for their young sons and daughters.
In the process, parents will instill children with family values and goals, while teaching them the
accepted norms and values of society. This is done in hope that parents will one day see their own
children become mature adults, with their own goals and purposes in life.
Mother daughter relationships can be complex, but also filled with compassion and love. Mothers and
daughters often seem farther away from each other than they really are. Usually when a girl goes
through adolescence, the relationship between her and her mother begin ... Show more content on

#Even Western civilization has a history of unrealistic expectations about mothers. They are held
responsible for their children s happiness. Many people have troubles growing up enough to see their
mothers as people. As Mary Pipher writes in her book, Reviving Ophelia, of studies about adolescent
girls, #distant mothers are scorned, but mothers who are to close are accused of smothering and
overprotecting. Each chapter of Reviving Ophelia opens with a different scenario and in her book,
Pipher gives equal voices to both mothers and daughters. Maybe the first step of a daughter towards
maintaining a good relationship with her mother, is for her to see her mother as an individual.
Growing up requires adolescent girls to reject the person with whom they are most closely identified.
Daughters are socialized to have a tremendous fear of becoming like their mothers, but maybe if they
tried enough to really look at and understand their mothers, this would no longer be a fear to them. I
personally think that many girls do not realize they may have this fear themselves. I know I did not
realize I held it within myself, but then I also realized there was a lot more to my mother that I cared
to see. Once I saw past my close mindedness, I understood that there was nothing wrong with growing
up and acting a little like my mom. In fact, there were some qualities my mother held that I wanted to
imitate when I was a mother

Russian Influence In America Essay
MACEDONIA COMMITTED TO JOINING NATO AND EU
BLUF: Russian influence has affected countries like Sweden and Macedonia to join NATO. It is
highly likely that Russia will continue to threaten any countries that ally with the U.S. and other
opposed opposition. As a result Russia will likely become more volatile and ramp attacks along
Ukraine and other neighboring countries.
SUMMARY: As of 26JUL17, Macedonia s defense minister reaffirmed her government s commitment
to joining the EU and NATO. EU leaders have declared their readiness to work with the new
government, however, Greece opposes Macedonia s desire to join NATO. While the U.S. has shown
has shown great interest within the Western Balkans and Macedonia, it remains weary of Russian
influence within the region. https://www.voanews.com/a/macedonia new leaders nato eu

SANCTIONS AFFECT ITS OIL AND GAS SUPPLIES
BLUF: Based on the information provided, sanctions against Russia may not directly affect the
Dagger Brigade. However, we will likely see international allies isolate the US as a response to
sanctions.
SUMMARY: As of 26JUL17, major international players are warning the U.S. against imposing
further sanctions on Russia, saying that doing so could further isolate America from the world
community. EU President Jean Claude Juncker issued a warning to the U.S. stating that the bloc would
act within days if it doesn t get assurances that new sanctions wouldn t significantly impact European
interests. The economic bloc worries that American sanctions developed without their input could
jeopardize the continent s energy security. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us

Relationship Analysis Between Statutes and Case Law
Relationship Analysis between Statutes and Case Law
Laws against discrimination in employment were developed to provide remedies for victims of this
unfortunate form of behavior that exists in America today. The following paper provides insight into
lawsuits based on discrimination in the areas of age, religion, and disability and the statutes that
provide complainants with the ability to seek relief from discriminatory practices.
Employment Law – Age Discrimination
Smith v. City of Jackson, Mississippi
On March 30, 2005, the Supreme Court decided the case of Smith v. City of Jackson, Mississippi. The
case summary is as follows: 30 Police officers and Police dispatchers in Jackson, Mississippi sued the

In 1966 the EEOC issued regulations that provided that employers must afford accommodation unless
it would cause a serious inconvenience to the conduct of business. In 1967, this regulation was further
refined to read undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s business. These regulations were
quickly challenged as was the EEOC authority to issue such regulations. (Foltin Standish, 2004, p. 3).
Finally, in 1972 Congress amended Title VII adding a new section 701(j), which reads as follows:
The term religion includes all aspects of religious observance and practice, as well as belief, unless an
employer demonstrates that he is unable to reasonably accommodate to an employee s or perspective
employee s religious observance or practice without undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s
business.
This still left the defining of the terminology reasonably accommodate and undue hardship to the legal
system.
Case Law – Trans World Airlines, Inc. v. Hardison
Background
In this case, Larry G. Hardison was an employee with TWA working as a clerk in the Stores
Department at its Kansas City base. This was an essential role in the Kansas City operation as the
Stores Department must operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This was also a union operation
and Hardison was subject to a seniority system. Hardison was hired by TWA in June 1967 and in the
spring of 1968 he began to study the religion known as the Worldwide Church of God.

Ferris Buellers Day Off Analysis
Ferris Bueller s Day Off was written, produced, and directed by John Hughes. The film was released
on June 11, 1986. It stared the likes of Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller), Alan Ruck (Cameron
Frye). Mia Sara (Sloane Peterson), Jeffrey Jones (Ed Rooney), and Jennifer Grey (Jeanie Bueller).
Ferris Bueller s Day Off is about a high school senior, Ferris Bueller, that pretends to be sick to get a
day off from school. He convinces his friend, Cameron Frye, to join him. They devise a plan to get
Ferris girlfriend out of school as well. The story begins with Ferris lying in bed trying to convince his
parents that he is too sick to go to school. He was able to successfully convince them while getting an
evil stare from his sister, Jeanie. Since he does not have a car Ferris must try and convince his friend,
Cameron, to come get him and enjoy the day off together. The school dean, Ed Rooney, knows Ferris
is not sick so calls Ferris s mother who confirms that he is sick. He tells her that Ferris has nine
absences, but on the computer screen the absences dwindles from nine to two, Ferris changed this
from his computer at home. Ferris and Cameron devise a plan to get Ferris s girlfriend out of school.
They need Cameron s dad s Ferrari to get her out of school and it works flawlessly. The three of them

What Is The Theme Of The Catcher In The Rye
The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, is one of the most controversial novels ever written. It has
been banned and unbanned many times and has been constantly cited for its foul language, lacking
plot, and unclear morals. While the novel may have flaws, one would be hard pressed to find the
perfect novel. It is also important to understand the context under which the novel was written and the
ideas and feelings the author was trying to convey. Once these are understood, it becomes increasingly
clear that J.D. Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, definitely still has a place in school curricula
for its unique style. Many teenagers today struggle with depression or any condition lying on that
spectrum, and one of the greatest senses of comfort one can have is the knowledge that they are not
alone in their struggles. Despite being drunk, Mr. Antolini eloquently highlights this point when
talking to Holden later in the novel: Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and
spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You ll learn
from them if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn
something from you. It s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn t education. It s history. It s
poetry. (Salinger 189) During one of their most impressionable stages of life, a connection with
Holden s feelings can be invaluable for teenagers when they hit their lows. It s not often that

Locavore Movement Research Paper
Nutritious. Healthier. Reduction of Carbon emission. All of these are positive aspects of local food
right? Concealed under these factors lie environmental destruction as well as a damaged economy.
The Locavore Movement has been on the rise due to its nutritional benefits, however, this
overshadows the effects of locally grown food on our environment and economy.
Many locavores say that locally grown produce contains more nutrients since they ve been recently
picked, unlike supermarkets where the produce has been left in the freezers for weeks. In addition,
they also claim that since it takes less distance to travel from farm to plate there is a decreased chance
of contamination (Source A). It s accurate to say that most produce grown from local areas are
healthier which is why the government plans to place more investments into farmers markets(Source
E). Although the Locavore Movement proves to have many beneficial aspects to it, food is food.
Locally grown food may be considered healthier with fewer chemicals, however, a normal human will

As counterintuitive as it sounds, Londoners rather buy lamb from New Zealand as from the United
Kingdom because raising lamb in the United Kingdom emits a large amount of carbon, and it s more
environmentally friendly to purchase the lamb from an area that is further away, but contains less
carbon emission (Source C). When comparing the transportation energy to other factors of the farmers
market, it is obvious that the amount of energy used for transportation is insignificant compared to the
damage the farmers market casts on the environment. Many farmers will use fertilizers to give
nutrients to the plants so that it will maximize its growth, but do not consider the long term effects it

QRS Syndrome Analysis
As shown in Figure 1, the P wave is a result of atrial depolarization. The QRS complex is a result of
ventricular depolarization, and thus ventricular contraction, as well as atrial repolarization
simultaneously. The T wave represents repolarization of ventricles and thus relaxation. The delay
between the P wave and the QRS complex is known as the PQ interval or the PR interval. During this
interval, the atria contract and begin to relax, and the ventricles contract at the end of this delay
(VanPutte et al., 2014). This time of this interval is important for determining many heart conditions,
such as an atrial blockage, as it measures the time of onset of ventricular contraction after the atria
contracts. If this time period is too long, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heart rate begins to increase during exercise because in order to produce energy for contraction, the
working leg muscles require more oxygen. When the subject increased exercise, the heart was beating
faster to get oxygen to these cells and to circulate the blood back to the lungs to get rid of carbon
dioxide. During exercise, the body needs more than the normal cardiac output, due to increased
demand for oxygen. Thus the heart is beating harder to get blood to the body and this leads to an
increase in MAP in the vessels as well. The heart ejects a greater volume of blood with each stroke
and in turn, this creates a higher mean arterial pressure. Ultimately, an increase in heart rate leads to an
increase in cardiac output which both work together to meet the body s oxygen demands (cardiac
output= stroke volume x heart rate). As shown in both figures 4a and 4b, a plateau was reached
because the body was performing at its maximum at that point. This may not be reflective of
maximum heart rate as the body may have been able to reach a higher HR and MAP, but this was the
hardest the body was working during this exercise. During recovery, both HR and MAP begin to fall,
because oxygen demand to the muscles decrease as the working muscles begin to slow down. In
Figure 4b, there is a slight

Rebellion in Persepolis
Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi is an autobiography graphic novel. The book
is about a young girl named Marjane Satrapi growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. In the
book, many stories and struggles are presented, such as the Islamic revolution, issues with school, the
war between Iran and Iraq, and Satrapi s struggle with growing up. The strongest theme from all of
these situations in the novel is rebellion. Rebellion is constantly seen, in many different shapes and
forms, all throughout this book.
In the beginning of the book (page 3) it became obligatory to wear the veil at school. The panel at the
bottom of the page shows the children rebelling against the veil by using not wearing the veil properly.

Benefits And Applications Of The Software Defined Networking
2.) Abstract:
The project focuses on the cost effective enhancement of enterprise network security via OpenFlow
controlled switches and specialized SDN applications running on a controller. The project will
investigate on securing the network from various attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack,
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), DHCP attack. Different security measures will be discussed
through which the user can establish a secured network. These security measures will be implemented
over SDN.
3.) Objectives:
The main objective of this project is to enhance the security of a network using various modern day
technologies.
1) The enhancement in the security of the network will mitigate the attacks like Denial of Service
attacks.
2) It will also help in controlling the data and control plane of the networking devices, which will
enable more options to enhance the security.
The project focusses on using the advantages and applications of the Software Defined Networking
(SDN) technology. By implementing Security measures in SDN, one can develop a network that will
be free from several network attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, probing, Denial of Service,
Distributed Denial of Service and several other scanning attacks. Another point to mention is that if an
administrator had to implement all these security measures in a traditional network, he would have to
configure all the networking equipment separately with the

The Culture Of Iran Is A Major Element Of Cultural Competence
Cultural awareness is a major element of cultural competence as defined by the National Center for
Cultural Competence (NCCC). It is the first and foundational element because without it, it is virtually
impossible to acquire the attitudes, skills, and knowledge that are essential to cultural competence
(Goode). The focus of the paper will be to discuss the culture of Iran. Iran is located within the Middle
East centered just between the Caspian Sea and Persian Gulf. Even though Iran is not one of the
largest countries, it is roughly smaller than Alaska in size. Iran has a long history of conflict dating all
the way to the time of the Romans. A multitude of leaders dating back before the Roman era and
earlier have taken the responsibility of the task of leading Iran. Throughout the years, Iran was
involved in many conflicts while still today holding its own against other countries in the world. Iran
is located within the Middle East with the bordering countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq,
Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Turkey. As early as the period of the Romans, Iran had many types of
leaders, conflicts and enemies in the world. Their government structure is similar to most countries
such as the United States and Britain. The only difference they have one person that has the power
over almost everything, which is the Supreme Leader. Their untrained military, imported and outdated
weapons, and a small military force compared to most of the larger countries of

Atomic Bombs On Hiroshima, Japan, And The United States
August 6th 1945, the United States dropped the first of two atomic bombs on Hiroshima, Japan. World
War Two was practically over, but Japan and the United States weren t getting along due to Japan
bombing Pearl Harbor. The President of the United States (Truman) and U.K. Prime Minister Winston
Churchill Issued the Potsdam Declaration which was the declaration that was put on the table for
Japan after Germany had surrendered. Earlier in the war we had been putting together atomic weapons
in case the war was getting out of hand. Since Japan wouldn t surrender after the Potsdam we dropped
the 1st bomb. Japan had still not surrendered so we dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. There
was a combined total of casualties after the 1st bomb of 140,000. The second bomb totaled out to
120,000 casualties. Dropping these bombs helped the United States win the war. In my Opinion, the
decision to drop both bombs on Japan was the best alternative the United States had to remain stable
and to hold military lives. There are many reasons the United States choose to drop the Atomic bomb.
According to the White House press release the decision was pretty much made up after the Potsdam
declaration, which gave Japan the opportunity to surrender, was refused by Japan so the United States
was then in full force. Their leaders promptly rejected that ultimatum. If they do not now accept our
terms they may expect a rain of ruin from the air, the like of which has never been seen on this

The Issue Of America s Public Schooling
As America charts its course into the twenty first century, we as a people are faced with a new array of
challenges unique to this great nation. Should we put a man on Mars, or build colonies on the Moon?
Should we attempt to solve world hunger, or instead focus our efforts on finding cures for cancer,
AIDS, and cerebral palsy? Should we preemptively murder the entire cast of Jersey Shore before their
final season, or let our ordained punishment for abusing the term bro run its natural course and pray
for forgiveness? All pressing questions, to be sure, and all worthy of consideration. But as a concerned

Alright, now that I ve thoroughly confused any listeners that may have managed to stick with me up to
the Batman metaphor, allow me to put forth a modest proposal of my own that will finally bring a
peaceful resolution to this current crisis. This breathtakingly ingenious idea came to me after watching
a report on the drug wars in Mexico, and the thought occurred to me that surely there could be a better
use for all that confiscated marijuana. I was correct; and don t call me Shirley. Operation 420, as I
have taken to calling it, will consist of two phases: a launch phase, and a containment phase, with the
objectives being a peaceful halting and dismantling of Iran s nuclear program and the pacification of
that region for years to come. The launch phase will begin with the acquisition and manufacturing of a
plethora of specialized incendiary bombs. These bombs will consist of a small explosive charge to
break open the casing and ignite the contents: weed. Lots of weed. On a predetermined date, most
likely during the month of Ramadan, as the primarily Islamic population of Iran will already be fasting
and thus predisposed to the onset of the infamous munchies , a strike force of aircraft will launch from
the Persian Gulf and, flying in the shape of Porky the Pig so as to scare away any Iranian interceptors,

An Analysis Of Baby Kochamman In The God Of Small Things
An antagonist can be defined as someone or something that is put in the story to oppose the
protagonist or to cause problems that need to be overcome. Throughout the story, every character in
one way or another causes problems, as the story emphasizes that nobody is perfect. The Orangedrink
Lemondrink man could be an antagonist as he causes Estha great emotional turmoil and traumatizes
him. Ammu and Velutha could be antagonists because if they hadn t had the affair then maybe Velutha
wouldn t be dead and the children wouldn t have been separated and maybe, just maybe, Sophie Mol
wouldn t have drowned in the river. Chacko could also be an antagonist as he kicks Ammu out of the
house which eventually results in the separation of the twins. However, one character, in particular,
Baby Kochamma, in every part of the story, not only does she cause problems, she causes problems
for everyone. Baby Kochamma causes problems for Rahel and Estha, for Ammu, for Velutha, for the
police, and even makes Chacko more miserable and angry, eventually leading him to force Ammu to
leave. Baby Kochamma continually manipulates the characters in the story into doing what she wants
to get herself out of trouble. Foreshadowing the main conflict and also the climax in The God of Small
Things, Baby Kochamma says, in relation to Velutha, That man will be our nemesis (Roy 175).

Relationship Between The Boy And The Road
One thing that remains constant in the ever changing world of Cormac McCarthy s dystopian novel
The Road is the relationship between The Man and The Boy. The father and son s bond is extremely
close, especially due to the isolation they face on The Road, but it is filled with love and endearment,
like someone would expect any relationship between a father and son to be.
Early on in the novel, the reader begins to learn that the The Man and The Boy have a very close and
intimate bond. Rather than causing a strain on the their relationship, the isolation that constantly
follows the pair on The Road actually made their bond as father and son stronger . Traveling along
The Road by themselves causes The Man and The Boy s relationship to become extremely
codependent. The Boy relies on The Man like any child would rely on their father. The Boy
completely counts on The Man for everything, including food, shelter, clothes, and everything else
that is needed to survive on The Road. The Man keeps them safe from the bad guys and keeps them
alive and as healthy as he can. The Boy s needs are always put before The Man s needs. However, The
Man depends upon The Boy just as much as The Boy depends on him. If it weren t for The Boy, The
Man would have been dead a long time ago. The only reason that he has survived this long is because
of The Boy. Making sure The Boy survives is the only meaning that The Man has to his life. The Boy
s continued existence is the most influential motivation

Symbols And Symbols Of Icons
Iconography is the traditional or conventional images or symbols associated with a subject and
especially a religious or legendary subject (Iconography). Icons are used in all religions to represent
and commemorate religious figures and symbols that are held with great honor within the religion.
Icons are used to represent some sacred personage, such as a saint or an angel or Christ (The
Definition of Icons). Icons are typically written on wood and honored as sacred (Goldammer). Not
only is the writing itself seen as sacred but the whole practice of creating these icons is a religious
event. There are three main types of religious icons: portrait icons, group icons, and landscape icons
referring the the objects in the writings.
There are rules associated with iconography that have to be followed in order for the image to be
viewed as an icon. Before the artist starts writing the icon, they are supposed to fast and pray so that
they are in a clear, undisturbed state of mind. The artist needs to quiet one s spirit, which is done
through the praying and fasting. The quieting one s spirit is a way to open up and let God in so he can
do the work. The artist is instructed not to sign the writing as it is supposed to come from God
therefore, there is no credit that needs to be given. Another rule is that icons are referred to as written
instead of painted or drawn . Describing them as written emphasizes the important spiritual role that
these icons possess.

Thy Sacrifice is Thy Salvation
Thy Sacrifice is Thy Salvation
Novels hold telling testaments within fraying pages, binding spines, breathless words, all to the sway
of theme and development. The complexity of a story can neither be salvaged nor understood but from
the barest elements that comprise its thematic importance. As this is but a proclaimed truth, it is given
that the themes of a narrative are the skeletal system as the parchment serves as its skin, the central
core to which without the foundation of, the entire system crumbles into but a mass. A Tale of Two

Charles Darnay comes to us as a man of seemingly wondrous fortune, luck, though seeming of little
true consequence despite the manner of his introduction. These are the starting frames of their
character, the shallow impressions, the skeletons that shall parade through the pages of the book,
chapters, gaining their nerves and skin becoming men reborn from ashes lost. In term of Dr. Manette,
his miraculous transformation comes in the form of aid of his daughter, Lucie, that allows him to
shoulder transpired events, to become again the man that once was, to cast aside the shell, to fill the
hollowness, evolving into not a shadow of his former self, but a mirror, then an evolution, stronger
both in body as well as mind breathing, through actions and pages, capturing and reborn from the

and narrator, than that of Sydney Carton, whose sacrifice can be summarized in the simple phrase he
kept his word. The giving of himself, for another, to cover another, a sacrifice so great that he is not

The Pros Of The Black Pearl Conspiracy
Despite the work of piracy being an exercise of serving self interest, a single pirate alone could not
become successful in creating a force strong enough to make any sort of living. Pirates depended on
the ability of their crewmates to get done what had to be done. The crew of a pirate ship live in close
quarters with each other when ever they were at sea and because of this, ships formed floating
societies that, like all societies required social rules and governance institutions to function (Leeson
203). These rules and governances were instituted through the pirate code. The concept of a pirate
code has become popular through its appearances in films like Disney s Pirates of the Caribbean: The
Cures of the Black Pearl. However, unlike ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shared goal of obtainment of wealth was not enough to hold the pirate crew together and other
stipulations had to be put in place to avoid as many opportunities for violent conflict that could erupt
into fighting and tear their criminal organization apart (Leeson 69). Unlike the unequal division of
wealth on a merchant ship, the pay scale [was] established in the piratical contract (Leeson 71). For
example, on Captain John Phillips ship, the Revenge, the Captain shall have one full share and a half
in all prizes; The master, Carpenter, Boatswain and Gunner shall have on share and a quarter (Defoe
342). This division of wages was very common and was accepted by other pirate codes such as the
ones under Robert s and Edward Lowe (Leeson 68). The codes of piracy involving the spoils of piracy
also encouraged the pirates to act in their self interest as many had stipulations that you could obtain a
bonus from the common purse (Leeson 72) for going beyond the duties assigned to them. These
bonuses also ensured that the crews would work effectively, and that no one would be able to profit
from the work of others, which increased the pirates ability to profit from plunder (Leeson 72). The

concludes that all activities related with the use of mobile phones by the public as communication
method have experienced rapid growth, surpassing even the use of the traditional methods like PC´s.
In relation to the mobile phones market and how the number of devices sold is increasing every year,
an article published last year by the website Statista (2), suggest that total of mobile devices sold
worldwide from 2007 to 2014 was 1,244.89 million units, and sales growth is expected in 2015. It also
describes the prediction of global mobile phone shipments from 2010 to 2019, making it clear that the
increase in sales and user will continue the next years (3). Considering the previous information, it is
not too difficult imagine that some important data for the final user, stored on the mobile phone

Personal Impact On The Water Cycle Essay
WA 4
ENVS 1301 PERSONAL IMPACT ON THE WATER CYCLE
Although I live in the United States, contrary to the image given through Hollywood movies, less than
one percent of Americans live in wealth akin to kings or queens or other monarchies. For example, as
a child I lived in a home sans modern plumbing. Such homes were called dry homes , which were
built during the depression era. As children, my siblings and I transported water from a faucet in the
front yard into the house for drinking, washing dishes, and bathing. The sole plumbing indoors was
the toilet; and, similar to those depicted in western movies, we had a wash pan and water pitcher inlieu
of a bathroom basin. For winter months, we were always careful to insulate the faucet pipes to prevent
freezing so we would have water during the cold seasons.
Needless to say, as an adult, I have a respect for water and an appreciation for modern plumbing. In
light of these facts, I would reason that my personal impact on the water cycle are at most minimal. In
our home we are careful not to waste water. For example, a filled half gallon BPA free bottle displaces
about one third of the water in the toilet tank, which conserves water with each use. Another example
would be the use of a dishpan instead of the dishwasher that conserves substantial quantities of water.
(However, the dishwasher is utilized weekly on an energy efficient setting, to sanitize clean dishes.)
When considering the human processing of grey water

Music Is A Symbol Of Culture And Music
Music to me is a symbol of culture and peace, and helps bring people together. Music is a way people
relieve their stress, when they are going through struggles in life. People of different ethnicity listen to
different music, because of their culture group. They have festivals, parades, or/ and parties where
music is being played, because it bring out the happiness of people and unite them. I listen to R B,
Rap, Hip Hop, and Old School, because I have different emotions everyday which cause me to listen
to different genres of music. One day I would probably want to listen to R B, so I ll play one of my
favorite songs which is Listen by Beyoncé. If I m miserable or disconsolate I ll listen to All Things Go
by Nicki Minaj. I ll play Too Many Years by Kodak Black ft. PNB Rock, because I just want to hear
some Rap music. Music really can help when you re depressed, energetic, stressed, or just feel like
hearing some beats and words.
The first song for my soundtrack of life is All Things Go. All Things Go was released in 2014 by
rapper Nicki Minaj. Since Nicki Minaj is one of my top favorite female artist I just fell in love with
this song. Me being one of her major fans I can feel her hurt and pain she put into this song, because
she went all the way back to her teenage years of struggling. It s like she was telling her whole life
story in the song. The lyrics that hit me the most was Cherish these nights, cherish these people. Life
is a movie, but there will never be a

Benefits Of Long Distance Runners
When I think of Kenya, I think of long distance runners, I think of the beginning of man, I think of its
plethora of wildlife, and I think of Barack Obama. What I have never contemplated was Kenya s
agriculture and how it has affected the culture and economics of Kenya. Tea, coffee, sisal, pyrethrum,
corn, and wheat are grown in the fertile highlands, one of the most successful agricultural production
regions in Africa. Production is mainly on small African owned farms formed from the division of
formerly European owned estates. Coffee in Kenya is big business, but it is grown mainly on small
farms by coops of farmers working together. Looking into Kenya s past will help to clarify how coffee
became an agricultural commodity, and give insight into its beginnings. Before outsiders came into
Africa, the country now known as Kenya was a nomadic area inhabited by Cushite people. It was not
until the first century B.C. that Arabic people came to the area as traders. They soon began to colonize
areas along the coast of the Indian Ocean. Also in the first century the Bantu began to settle areas
inland from the coast. It took the Europeans over fourteen hundred more years to make their way to
Kenya. Kenya was now under the rule of the Portuguese. In the sixteen hundreds Kenya came under
Islamic rule, until the nineteenth century when it became a British colony. It is in the 19th century that
an eastern area of Africa becomes Kenya. In 1888 Kenya come

Stereotypes In The Office
Do you think that someone will be good at a sport because of their race? Michael Scott from the T.V.
show The Office thinks so. The Office is a sitcom which depicts the typical office environment with
Michal Scott being the boss who is very insensitive and says things most people would see as very
rude, but he thinks of as normal. In the office Stanley is the only African American and Oscar is the
only Latino, these two are typically quiet and are insulted by Michael. Other notable individuals in the
office include Kevin who is an out of shape middle aged white man and Dwight who is a very socially
awkward middle aged white man. In season 1 episode 5 titled basketball Michael organizes a
basketball game between the office and warehouse staff. Throughout the shows Michael stereotypes
employees of various races and what sports they should be good at . In the process of picking the
basketball team it was most notably displayed with many statements being made by Michael as to who
would be at various sports based on their ethnicity. He made statements inferring that Stanley would
be a starter because he is black. Another statement that he made was to Oscar Martinez a Latino
saying he wouldn t be good at basketball but if there was a baseball game ... Show more content on

Soon after picking teams those who weren t picked were shown throwing crumpled up paper and other
items into trashcans and making all their shots while those who were picked were shown missing all
of their shots. At the end of the show to counter the assumptions made previously by Michael, Kevin
is shown on the court shooting the basketball and made every shot. At the beginning when picking
teams Michael didn t want Kevin on the team because he was white and older. The ending showed that

Difference Between Native American And White
I identify as Native American and White, and as I don t exactly look very Native American, I generally
appear to be White, which entails certain privileges. People don t direct any racial discrimination
towards me and I m grateful for that, however I don t think people understand or are aware of the fact
that a piece of white privilege is not having the emotional baggage of your ancestors being severely
oppressed. A piece of White privilege is knowing of more than three people that are the same race as
you. I ve become more and more aware of this sadly unsurprising fact. Hundreds of years ago, Native
peoples made up the entirety of this land, and now it s around two percent of the overall population.

Summary Of A Child s Journey Through Placement
Summary and Evaluation Baby Jack displays a healthy attachment to mom, while Alice shows clear
indicators of a strong and healthy bond with Jack. As indicated in the above chart, Jack is displaying
all the behaviour expected for this stage of development (from 6 12 months), and accordingly, as
related to attachment, he was friendly with me as long as mom was close, and vigilant in ensuring he
was always aware of her location. The fact that Alice is able to soothe Jack quickly and consistently
and that he is able to adjust to a new stranger so well points to development of the confidence that
Vera Fahlberg (2012) maintains in her text, A Child s Journey through Placement, as intrinsically tied
to secure attachment to a primary attachment object ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freud s theory of personality examined the interplay between the primitive, instinctual urges the id ;
the practical and rational ego ; and the morally attuned superego ; object relations refer to the object of
an instinct , which is the agent through which the instinctual aim is achieved most often a person and,
according to Freud, most often the mother (Ainsworth 1969, p. 1). The psychosexual development
theory that Freud launched reduces our behaviour to mechanistic responses to an instinctive need for
pleasure fueled by the libido and barriers or distortions to the gratification of the libido at various
delineated stages of development were responsible for later problems in life (Kail Zolner 2012, p. 5).
Erik Erikson later added depth to the approach by including more humanistic elements to Freud s
stages and including more periods of development (p.

Leader Characteristics Essay
Leader Characteristics
Charismatic leadership is one of four subdivisions of the larger concept of transformational leadership
(Bass, 1990). Charismatic leaders are self confident, dominant, purposeful, articulate, influential,
idealistic, and expressive. They have high energy levels, strong convictions, the ability to display
empathy, and are risk takers (Bass, 1990). By stimulating ailing corporations, revitalizing aging
bureaucracies or launching new enterprises (Howell and Avolio, 1995), charismatic leaders
demonstrate how truly effective they can be. These leaders are often described as visionaries, with a
strong sense of the future and a passion for their vision. They are able to achieve the vision by
developing strategies to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Charismatic leaders are risk takers. They develop highly innovative approaches to problems. They are
not afraid to challenge established practices (Nur, 1998).
Another aspect of charismatic leadership is the effect the leader has on his followers. The charismatic
leader develops good communication with his followers. He works with them so that they actively
contribute to and develop the vision; the vision then becomes the property not only of the leader but of
his followers. Once they have this buy in, the followers are willing to go above and beyond the call of
duty to achieve the vision. The charismatic leader has the ability to inspire extraordinary performance
in his followers (Howell and Avolio, 1995). Bass (1990), states that the charismatic leader has the
ability to turn dormant followers into active ones. Charismatic leaders arouse trust, faith and belief in
the leader (Howell and Avolio, 1995). They also move their followers to become leaders in their own
right. But most of all, charismatic leaders inspire a deep devotion in their followers. The effect they
have on their followers seems to be their greatest achievement.
Follower Characteristics
Burns (1990) states that More important than what charismatics do or say is what their different
prospective followers feel about them. The followers have an actual need to identify with the
charismatic leader (Bass, 1990). Bass (1990) notes that researchers suggest that the followers

Discussing if Anzac Day Should be Celebrated or Mourned...

No, they ll not be forgotten

Vic Macdonald 1988
Every year on the 25th of April Australia comes together to celebrate the bravery and extreme courage
of those soldiers who risked and lost their lives while fighting for Australia in Gallipoli. But should it

Every year you still march down that street with that stupid proud expression on your face, you glorify
the bloody wastefulness of that day? ? Act 2, Scene 3, The One Day of the Year. Hughie (the son of
the war veteran with the controversial ideas about the meaning of Anzac day) mentions about the
mistake that cost sixty thousand lives. The Anzacs were expecting to battle on large plains and were
trained to do so. Instead of finding the flat beach they expected, they found they had been landed at an
incorrect position and faced the steep cliffs of the Turkish Peninsula constantly under fire from above
as they strived to entrench themselves at the base of the cliff. They faced a well organised, well armed,
large Turkish force determined to defend their country.
Every year on the 25th of April Australia commemorates this mistake. It is remembered like it was a
victory but to many it is viewed as a waste of good men, young and old who died, sacrificing
everything for there country. The Soldiers who fought for their countries should in some people?s
opinion be viewed as heroes. They risked their life for the freedom of their country. Some believe that
the battle at Gallipoli was not Australia?s war and that we were invading someone else?s countries for
another countries cause. But what bravery the young soldiers showed to do so. To represent their
country and fight in a battle against seemingly impossible odds, and die, and lose

Caution In The Tell Tale Heart
Have you ever done something that you know was wrong but still did it anyways? Were you able to
pull of a cautious, perfect plan and not get caught? Did your emotions ever overcome you and cause
you to confess? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you may be able to connect with
the main character of this story. In Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart is about a man that kills an
old man because of his eye with a film over it. He dismembers the body and buries him under the
floorboards. When the cops come, he starts hearing the sound of the man s heart and it drives him to
confess. Readers learn to do things with caution.
In this part the reader will see the narrator stalk the old man with great caution. Every night about
midnight, I turned the latch of his door and opened it oh so gently! And then, when I had made an
opening sufficient for my head, I put in a dark lantern, all closed, closed, that no light shone out, and
then I thrust in my head.... I moved it slowly, very, very slowly, so that I might not disturb the old man
s sleep (Poe 1 2). The craft in this is show don t tell because the author shows how the narrator is a
psychopath but does not tell that he is. Readers can infer that he is a psychopath because he is going to

narrator finally kills him. The narrator suffocates the man using his mattress. He was cautious about
this murder. The narrator stalked his prey like an animal and then pounced. He describes his actions as
...wise precautions I took for the concealment of the body. The night waned, and I worked hastily, but
in silence. First of all I dismembered the corpse. I cut off the head and arms and the legs (Poe 6). This
scene proves that the narrator was conscious and careful about his

Environment And Human Environment
Ecosystems is the dynamic complex of plant, animal and micro organism communities and their non
living environment that work together to form a functional unit and they are constantly changing due
to the fluctuating equilibrium from natural stress and human action which has had adversarial impacts
on ecosystems. This is evident in Minnamurra rainforest as human induced modifications and
environmental stresses had resulted in a vulnerable ecosystem. Furthermore, the removal of factors
that contribute to the vulnerability of an ecosystem is important as it affect the functioning of the
ecosystem as processes are accelerated, biodiversity is decreased which greatly affects humans.
Despite the negative effects caused by humans, they have discovered that ecosystems are susceptible
from harm caused by natural environmental factors or human impacts and realised the importance of
protecting and managing ecosystems therefore have implemented management strategies that are
supposed to prevent further detriment and as a consequence may induce resiliency.
Within Minnamurra rainforest all biophysical components rely on each other, for example changes to
the lithosphere (gaseous elements surrounding the earth), can cause stress to the flora and fauna within
the ecosystem and impact other abiotic factors. Human interaction has also caused many detrimental
impacts on the ecosystem through changes in lithospheric processes. For instance littering can bring
unwanted diseases that can affect

The Critique Of Culture In The Sand Child By Tahar Ben...
Culture is an amalgamation of shared beliefs, values, and norms within a society. Thus, culture has the
ability to influence the way in which one learns, lives, and behaves. When the cultural values and
practices are negative, the fate of a person growing up in this situation can be critically affected. In
The Sand Child, Tahar Ben Jelloun exhibits how the cultural values of the Moroccan society such as
the inheritance law and the social practices such as the blatant rejection and demeaning treatment of
women in society have affected Ahmed, the protagonist, and provide an insight into Jelloun s critique
of those practices. The codification of misogynistic rules that solely pertain to leveling up the man s
position in a society have had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were right. In this way they rid themselves of misfortune. It was an act of wisdom, a brief pain,
an implacable logic (Jelloun 99). Ahmed s father comes to him in a dream and tells him that he did not
have the courage to proceed with this practice himself, but admires the fathers that were able to follow
through with it. He specifically mentions how Ahmed was saved from this torturous procedure, as his
father chose him to take on the male lead, while on the other hand his sisters were ignored and were
figuratively dead to the father. Although, this cultural practice did not directly affect Ahmed, nor did it
affect his sisters, it affected other female babies in this society, while also subconsciously affecting
Ahmed. This sense of betrayal and guilt has affected Ahmed s life as it is something that will always
follow him because he feels as though he betrayed his father by not following through with his wishes
and becoming the man he had always wished for. The author may have put this section in because he
wanted to demonstrate the guilt that is subconsciously put onto women. All aspects of a woman s life
are criticized merely for having female body parts and being seen as the weaker gender. These cultural
practices are seen as a normal, wise act done in order to keep the honor in the family. Thus,

  • 2. Mother-Daughter Relationships The relationship between parents and their children is one of the most basic human interactions. Mothers and daughters provide both physical and emotional care for their young sons and daughters. In the process, parents will instill children with family values and goals, while teaching them the accepted norms and values of society. This is done in hope that parents will one day see their own children become mature adults, with their own goals and purposes in life. Mother daughter relationships can be complex, but also filled with compassion and love. Mothers and daughters often seem farther away from each other than they really are. Usually when a girl goes through adolescence, the relationship between her and her mother begin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... #Even Western civilization has a history of unrealistic expectations about mothers. They are held responsible for their children s happiness. Many people have troubles growing up enough to see their mothers as people. As Mary Pipher writes in her book, Reviving Ophelia, of studies about adolescent girls, #distant mothers are scorned, but mothers who are to close are accused of smothering and overprotecting. Each chapter of Reviving Ophelia opens with a different scenario and in her book, Pipher gives equal voices to both mothers and daughters. Maybe the first step of a daughter towards maintaining a good relationship with her mother, is for her to see her mother as an individual. Growing up requires adolescent girls to reject the person with whom they are most closely identified. Daughters are socialized to have a tremendous fear of becoming like their mothers, but maybe if they tried enough to really look at and understand their mothers, this would no longer be a fear to them. I personally think that many girls do not realize they may have this fear themselves. I know I did not realize I held it within myself, but then I also realized there was a lot more to my mother that I cared to see. Once I saw past my close mindedness, I understood that there was nothing wrong with growing up and acting a little like my mom. In fact, there were some qualities my mother held that I wanted to imitate when I was a mother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Relationship Analysis Between Statutes and Case Law Relationship Analysis between Statutes and Case Law Laws against discrimination in employment were developed to provide remedies for victims of this unfortunate form of behavior that exists in America today. The following paper provides insight into lawsuits based on discrimination in the areas of age, religion, and disability and the statutes that provide complainants with the ability to seek relief from discriminatory practices. Employment Law – Age Discrimination Smith v. City of Jackson, Mississippi On March 30, 2005, the Supreme Court decided the case of Smith v. City of Jackson, Mississippi. In 1966 the EEOC issued regulations that provided that employers must afford accommodation unless it would cause a serious inconvenience to the conduct of business. In 1967, this regulation was further refined to read undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s business. These regulations were quickly challenged as was the EEOC authority to issue such regulations. (Foltin Standish, 2004, p. 3). Finally, in 1972 Congress amended Title VII adding a new section 701(j), which reads as follows: The term religion includes all aspects of religious observance and practice, as well as belief, unless an employer demonstrates that he is unable to reasonably accommodate to an employee s or perspective employee s religious observance or practice without undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s business. This still left the defining of the terminology reasonably accommodate and undue hardship to the legal system. Case Law – Trans World Airlines, Inc. v. Hardison Background In this case, Larry G. Hardison was an employee with TWA working as a clerk in the Stores Department at its Kansas City base. This was an essential role in the Kansas City operation as the Stores Department must operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This was also a union operation and Hardison was subject to a seniority system. • 6. What Is The Theme Of The Catcher In The Rye The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, is one of the most controversial novels ever written. It has been banned and unbanned many times and has been constantly cited for its foul language, lacking plot, and unclear morals. While the novel may have flaws, one would be hard pressed to find the perfect novel. It is also important to understand the context under which the novel was written and the ideas and feelings the author was trying to convey. Once these are understood, it becomes increasingly clear that J.D. Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, definitely still has a place in school curricula for its unique style. Many teenagers today struggle with depression or any condition lying on that spectrum, and one of the greatest senses of comfort one can have is the knowledge that they are not alone in their struggles. Despite being drunk, Mr. Antolini eloquently highlights this point when talking to Holden later in the novel: Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You ll learn from them if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn t education. It s history. It s poetry. (Salinger 189) During one of their most impressionable stages of life, a connection with Holden s feelings can be invaluable for teenagers when they hit their lows. It s not often that ... • 7. Locavore Movement Research Paper Nutritious. Healthier. Reduction of Carbon emission. All of these are positive aspects of local food right? Concealed under these factors lie environmental destruction as well as a damaged economy. The Locavore Movement has been on the rise due to its nutritional benefits, however, this overshadows the effects of locally grown food on our environment and economy. Many locavores say that locally grown produce contains more nutrients since they ve been recently picked, unlike supermarkets where the produce has been left in the freezers for weeks. In addition, they also claim that since it takes less distance to travel from farm to plate there is a decreased chance of contamination (Source A). It s accurate to say that most produce grown from local areas are healthier which is why the government plans to place more investments into farmers markets(Source E). When comparing the transportation energy to other factors of the farmers market, it is obvious that the amount of energy used for transportation is insignificant compared to the damage the farmers market casts on the environment. • 8. QRS Syndrome Analysis As shown in Figure 1, the P wave is a result of atrial depolarization. The QRS complex is a result of ventricular depolarization, and thus ventricular contraction, as well as atrial repolarization simultaneously. The T wave represents repolarization of ventricles and thus relaxation. The delay between the P wave and the QRS complex is known as the PQ interval or the PR interval. During this interval, the atria contract and begin to relax, and the ventricles contract at the end of this delay (VanPutte et al., 2014). This time of this interval is important for determining many heart conditions, such as an atrial blockage, as it measures the time of onset of ventricular contraction after the atria contracts. If this time period is too long, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heart rate begins to increase during exercise because in order to produce energy for contraction, the working leg muscles require more oxygen. When the subject increased exercise, the heart was beating faster to get oxygen to these cells and to circulate the blood back to the lungs to get rid of carbon dioxide. During exercise, the body needs more than the normal cardiac output, due to increased demand for oxygen. Thus the heart is beating harder to get blood to the body and this leads to an increase in MAP in the vessels as well. The heart ejects a greater volume of blood with each stroke and in turn, this creates a higher mean arterial pressure. Ultimately, an increase in heart rate leads to an increase in cardiac output which both work together to meet the body s oxygen demands (cardiac output= stroke volume x heart rate). As shown in both figures 4a and 4b, a plateau was reached because the body was performing at its maximum at that point. This may not be reflective of maximum heart rate as the body may have been able to reach a higher HR and MAP, but this was the hardest the body was working during this exercise. During recovery, both HR and MAP begin to fall, because oxygen demand to the muscles decrease as the working muscles begin to slow down. In Figure 4b, there is a slight ... • 10. Benefits And Applications Of The Software Defined Networking 2.) Abstract: The project focuses on the cost effective enhancement of enterprise network security via OpenFlow controlled switches and specialized SDN applications running on a controller. The project will investigate on securing the network from various attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), DHCP attack. Different security measures will be discussed through which the user can establish a secured network. These security measures will be implemented over SDN. 3.) Objectives: The main objective of this project is to enhance the security of a network using various modern day technologies. 1) The enhancement in the security of the network will mitigate the attacks like Denial of Service attacks. 2) It will also help in controlling the data and control plane of the networking devices, which will enable more options to enhance the security. The project focusses on using the advantages and applications of the Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology. By implementing Security measures in SDN, one can develop a network that will be free from several network attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, probing, Denial of Service, Distributed Denial of Service and several other scanning attacks. Another point to mention is that if an administrator had to implement all these security measures in a traditional network, he would have to configure all the networking equipment separately with the ... • 11. The Culture Of Iran Is A Major Element Of Cultural Competence Cultural awareness is a major element of cultural competence as defined by the National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC). It is the first and foundational element because without it, it is virtually impossible to acquire the attitudes, skills, and knowledge that are essential to cultural competence (Goode). The focus of the paper will be to discuss the culture of Iran. Iran is located within the Middle East centered just between the Caspian Sea and Persian Gulf. Even though Iran is not one of the largest countries, it is roughly smaller than Alaska in size. Iran has a long history of conflict dating all the way to the time of the Romans. A multitude of leaders dating back before the Roman era and earlier have taken the responsibility of the task of leading Iran. Throughout the years, Iran was involved in many conflicts while still today holding its own against other countries in the world. Iran is located within the Middle East with the bordering countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Turkey. As early as the period of the Romans, Iran had many types of leaders, conflicts and enemies in the world. Their government structure is similar to most countries such as the United States and Britain. The only difference they have one person that has the power over almost everything, which is the Supreme Leader. Their untrained military, imported and outdated weapons, and a small military force compared to most of the larger countries of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Atomic Bombs On Hiroshima, Japan, And The United States August 6th 1945, the United States dropped the first of two atomic bombs on Hiroshima, Japan. World War Two was practically over, but Japan and the United States weren t getting along due to Japan bombing Pearl Harbor. The President of the United States (Truman) and U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill Issued the Potsdam Declaration which was the declaration that was put on the table for Japan after Germany had surrendered. Earlier in the war we had been putting together atomic weapons in case the war was getting out of hand. Since Japan wouldn t surrender after the Potsdam we dropped the 1st bomb. Japan had still not surrendered so we dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. There was a combined total of casualties after the 1st bomb of 140,000. The second bomb totaled out to 120,000 casualties. Dropping these bombs helped the United States win the war. In my Opinion, the decision to drop both bombs on Japan was the best alternative the United States had to remain stable and to hold military lives. There are many reasons the United States choose to drop the Atomic bomb. According to the White House press release the decision was pretty much made up after the Potsdam declaration, which gave Japan the opportunity to surrender, was refused by Japan so the United States was then in full force. Their leaders promptly rejected that ultimatum. If they do not now accept our terms they may expect a rain of ruin from the air, the like of which has never been seen on this ... Should we preemptively murder the entire cast of Jersey Shore before their final season, or let our ordained punishment for abusing the term bro run its natural course and pray for forgiveness? Alright, now that I ve thoroughly confused any listeners that may have managed to stick with me up to the Batman metaphor, allow me to put forth a modest proposal of my own that will finally bring a peaceful resolution to this current crisis. This breathtakingly ingenious idea came to me after watching a report on the drug wars in Mexico, and the thought occurred to me that surely there could be a better use for all that confiscated marijuana. I was correct; and don t call me Shirley. Operation 420, as I have taken to calling it, will consist of two phases: a launch phase, and a containment phase, with the objectives being a peaceful halting and dismantling of Iran s nuclear program and the pacification of that region for years to come. The launch phase will begin with the acquisition and manufacturing of a plethora of specialized incendiary bombs. These bombs will consist of a small explosive charge to break open the casing and ignite the contents: weed. Lots of weed. On a predetermined date, most likely during the month of Ramadan, as the primarily Islamic population of Iran will already be fasting and thus predisposed to the onset of the infamous munchies , a strike force of aircraft will launch from the Persian Gulf and, flying in the shape of Porky the Pig so as to scare away any Iranian interceptors, release their ... • 14. An Analysis Of Baby Kochamman In The God Of Small Things An antagonist can be defined as someone or something that is put in the story to oppose the protagonist or to cause problems that need to be overcome. Throughout the story, every character in one way or another causes problems, as the story emphasizes that nobody is perfect. The Orangedrink Lemondrink man could be an antagonist as he causes Estha great emotional turmoil and traumatizes him. Ammu and Velutha could be antagonists because if they hadn t had the affair then maybe Velutha wouldn t be dead and the children wouldn t have been separated and maybe, just maybe, Sophie Mol wouldn t have drowned in the river. Chacko could also be an antagonist as he kicks Ammu out of the house which eventually results in the separation of the twins. However, one character, in particular, Baby Kochamma, in every part of the story, not only does she cause problems, she causes problems for everyone. Baby Kochamma causes problems for Rahel and Estha, for Ammu, for Velutha, for the police, and even makes Chacko more miserable and angry, eventually leading him to force Ammu to leave. Baby Kochamma continually manipulates the characters in the story into doing what she wants to get herself out of trouble. Foreshadowing the main conflict and also the climax in The God of Small Things, Baby Kochamma says, in relation to Velutha, That man will be our nemesis (Roy 175). • 15. Relationship Between The Boy And The Road One thing that remains constant in the ever changing world of Cormac McCarthy s dystopian novel The Road is the relationship between The Man and The Boy. The father and son s bond is extremely close, especially due to the isolation they face on The Road, but it is filled with love and endearment, like someone would expect any relationship between a father and son to be. Early on in the novel, the reader begins to learn that the The Man and The Boy have a very close and intimate bond. Rather than causing a strain on the their relationship, the isolation that constantly follows the pair on The Road actually made their bond as father and son stronger . Traveling along The Road by themselves causes The Man and The Boy s relationship to become extremely codependent. The Boy relies on The Man like any child would rely on their father. The Boy completely counts on The Man for everything, including food, shelter, clothes, and everything else that is needed to survive on The Road. The Man keeps them safe from the bad guys and keeps them alive and as healthy as he can. The Boy s needs are always put before The Man s needs. However, The Man depends upon The Boy just as much as The Boy depends on him. If it weren t for The Boy, The Man would have been dead a long time ago. The only reason that he has survived this long is because of The Boy. Making sure The Boy survives is the only meaning that The Man has to his life. • 16. Symbols And Symbols Of Icons Iconography is the traditional or conventional images or symbols associated with a subject and especially a religious or legendary subject (Iconography). Icons are used in all religions to represent and commemorate religious figures and symbols that are held with great honor within the religion. Icons are used to represent some sacred personage, such as a saint or an angel or Christ (The Definition of Icons). Icons are typically written on wood and honored as sacred (Goldammer). Not only is the writing itself seen as sacred but the whole practice of creating these icons is a religious event. There are three main types of religious icons: portrait icons, group icons, and landscape icons referring the the objects in the writings. There are rules associated with iconography that have to be followed in order for the image to be viewed as an icon. Before the artist starts writing the icon, they are supposed to fast and pray so that they are in a clear, undisturbed state of mind. The artist needs to quiet one s spirit, which is done through the praying and fasting. The quieting one s spirit is a way to open up and let God in so he can do the work. The artist is instructed not to sign the writing as it is supposed to come from God therefore, there is no credit that needs to be given. Another rule is that icons are referred to as written instead of painted or drawn . Describing them as written emphasizes the important spiritual role that these icons possess. ... In term of Dr. Manette, his miraculous transformation comes in the form of aid of his daughter, Lucie, that allows him to shoulder transpired events, to become again the man that once was, to cast aside the shell, to fill the hollowness, evolving into not a shadow of his former self, but a mirror, then an evolution, stronger both in body as well as mind breathing, through actions and pages, capturing and reborn from the ruins dramatic. Despite this miracle, there is no greater a seeming transformation, in the eyes of reader and narrator, than that of Sydney Carton, whose sacrifice can be summarized in the simple phrase he kept his word. The giving of himself, for another, to cover another, a sacrifice so great that he is not only reborn in terms of character but also in the eyes of the knowing. In this paper, I present my arguments on why sharks should not be killed nor responsible for the attacks. First and foremost, some may say that human life is more important. However, sharks place an important role in the ecosystem since it is one of the top predators in the world. There is some evidence to suggest that the number of sharks declines rapidly every year. The Pros Of The Black Pearl Conspiracy Despite the work of piracy being an exercise of serving self interest, a single pirate alone could not become successful in creating a force strong enough to make any sort of living. Pirates depended on the ability of their crewmates to get done what had to be done. The crew of a pirate ship live in close quarters with each other when ever they were at sea and because of this, ships formed floating societies that, like all societies required social rules and governance institutions to function (Leeson 203). These rules and governances were instituted through the pirate code. The shared goal of obtainment of wealth was not enough to hold the pirate crew together and other stipulations had to be put in place to avoid as many opportunities for violent conflict that could erupt into fighting and tear their criminal organization apart (Leeson 69). Unlike the unequal division of wealth on a merchant ship, the pay scale [was] established in the piratical contract (Leeson 71). For example, on Captain John Phillips ship, the Revenge, the Captain shall have one full share and a half in all prizes; The master, Carpenter, Boatswain and Gunner shall have on share and a quarter (Defoe 342). This division of wages was very common and was accepted by other pirate codes such as the ones under Robert s and Edward Lowe (Leeson 68). The codes of piracy involving the spoils of piracy also encouraged the pirates to act in their self interest as many had stipulations that you could obtain a bonus from the common purse (Leeson 72) for going beyond the duties assigned to them. These bonuses also ensured that the crews would work effectively, and that no one would be able to profit from the work of others, which increased the pirates ability to profit from plunder (Leeson 72). • 23. Personal Impact On The Water Cycle Essay WA 4 ENVS 1301 PERSONAL IMPACT ON THE WATER CYCLE Although I live in the United States, contrary to the image given through Hollywood movies, less than one percent of Americans live in wealth akin to kings or queens or other monarchies. For example, as a child I lived in a home sans modern plumbing. Such homes were called dry homes , which were built during the depression era. As children, my siblings and I transported water from a faucet in the front yard into the house for drinking, washing dishes, and bathing. The sole plumbing indoors was the toilet; and, similar to those depicted in western movies, we had a wash pan and water pitcher inlieu of a bathroom basin. For winter months, we were always careful to insulate the faucet pipes to prevent freezing so we would have water during the cold seasons. Needless to say, as an adult, I have a respect for water and an appreciation for modern plumbing. In light of these facts, I would reason that my personal impact on the water cycle are at most minimal. In our home we are careful not to waste water. For example, a filled half gallon BPA free bottle displaces about one third of the water in the toilet tank, which conserves water with each use. Another example would be the use of a dishpan instead of the dishwasher that conserves substantial quantities of water. (However, the dishwasher is utilized weekly on an energy efficient setting, to sanitize clean dishes.) When considering the human processing of grey water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What I have never contemplated was Kenya s agriculture and how it has affected the culture and economics of Kenya. Tea, coffee, sisal, pyrethrum, corn, and wheat are grown in the fertile highlands, one of the most successful agricultural production regions in Africa. Production is mainly on small African owned farms formed from the division of formerly European owned estates. Coffee in Kenya is big business, but it is grown mainly on small farms by coops of farmers working together. Looking into Kenya s past will help to clarify how coffee became an agricultural commodity, and give insight into its beginnings. Before outsiders came into Africa, the country now known as Kenya was a nomadic area inhabited by Cushite people. It was not until the first century B.C. that Arabic people came to the area as traders. They soon began to colonize areas along the coast of the Indian Ocean. Also in the first century the Bantu began to settle areas inland from the coast. It took the Europeans over fourteen hundred more years to make their way to Kenya. Kenya was now under the rule of the Portuguese. In the sixteen hundreds Kenya came under Islamic rule, until the nineteenth century when it became a British colony. The charismatic leader develops good communication with his followers. He works with them so that they actively contribute to and develop the vision; the vision then becomes the property not only of the leader but of his followers. Once they have this buy in, the followers are willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to achieve the vision. The charismatic leader has the ability to inspire extraordinary performance in his followers (Howell and Avolio, 1995). Bass (1990), states that the charismatic leader has the ability to turn dormant followers into active ones. Charismatic leaders arouse trust, faith and belief in the leader (Howell and Avolio, 1995). They also move their followers to become leaders in their own right. But most of all, charismatic leaders inspire a deep devotion in their followers. The effect they have on their followers seems to be their greatest achievement. He specifically mentions how Ahmed was saved from this torturous procedure, as his father chose him to take on the male lead, while on the other hand his sisters were ignored and were figuratively dead to the father. Although, this cultural practice did not directly affect Ahmed, nor did it affect his sisters, it affected other female babies in this society, while also subconsciously affecting Ahmed.
