What Intimate Relationship Between Transparent Logic,...
Japanese autodidact modernist architect Tadao Ando, explores the intimate relationship between
transparent logic, abstraction, nature and place through the study of material and form and the
interaction between the everyday human life and it s surrounding in his architecture. The interplay of
these elements are evident through his body of work especially his residential Koshino House and
Extension project. His broad depth in understanding the inherent fundamental human needs and his
close study of famous modernist architects such as Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright has resulted
in his prevailing success.
I create architectural order on the basis of geometry... and in this way to develop a theory of parts that
is founded on the sensibility of the Japanese people . As a child growing up in front of a wood
workshop, being fascinated by what he saw, at the age of 10 17 Ando became an apprentice, learning
to create wooden models and the skills of a carpenter. There he discovered the beauty of the balance
between a form and the material it is made of. However it was not until he was 18, when he
discovered a book about Le Corbusier and began to travel and analyse traditional and contemporary
architecture in Japan, Europe and the United States, he came to understand these relationships in
actual architecture as an entire physical being. (pritzker prize). His visit to the Pantheon in Rome and

Dna Profiling And The National Dna Database System
Part B: Report
DNA Profiling: Is it ethical to have national DNA database system?
Introduction: Today, the advancing gene technology provides humanity with numerous benefits such
as Genetically Modified Food, CRISPER, and one of them is the use of DNA profiling for storing bio
information. DNA fingerprint technology allows mapping of individual s genetic patterns that can be
stored into the database system (What is DNA fingerprint? 2016). The ability to profile gene
effectively, DNA fingerprinting is used as a problem solving tool in the justice system and medical
science researches. At the same time, ethical and social issues such as privacy violations, human rights
and the possibility of discrimination cannot be ignored.
Biological Background: It is scientifically proven that DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) contains genetic
material and highly specific to individual. DNA fingerprint can be tested by restriction fragment
length polymorphism (RFLP) methods and Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods. Although
RFLP is considered more accurate, due to the cost and requirement of longer period to complete, it is
not commonly used. While only 1% of genetic materials are unique to individual, the short tandem
repeats (STR) sequences called minisatellites can be used to distinguish all humans as it shows great
variation between each person (What is DNA fingerprint? 2016).
DNA fingerprinting technique involves a number of steps. The DNA sample from fluid, hair or any

Hannah Arendt Minority Treaties
Hannah Arendt s begins the chapter with the first part of after the fall of the First World War stating
the condition of the stateless people clarified the catastrophe of the nation state model and the failure
of human rights. When the nation system was created, the people in power in Europe separated the
people into 3 major groups which are the state people, the nationalities like the Slovaks in
Czechoslovakia, and the minorities like the Germans, being the strongest officially economically and
in number. The Minority Treaties were created by the League of Nations to seek security to the
minority groups in the new states. The real significance of the Minority Treaties (pg.274) was that
currently millions of people were known by the international law since by the nation states, they have
the power to strip down the citizens of that state by banishment or other worse factors. Only nationals

Case Study Of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Industry
For a hotel, to maintain and increase the quota of the sales is the initiate thing to do. Stuart Greif
(2011), vice president and general manager of the global travel and hospitality practice at J.D. Power
and Associates said that as the industry continues to recover and rates increase, hoteliers need to get
back to the fundamentals and improve the overall guest experience. Charging guests more and
providing less is not a winning combination from a guest satisfaction perspective, much less a winning
business strategy. In short, hoteliers are falling further behind and need to catch up. The service of the
staff maybe the key factor to the hotel success, which is greatly relates to the customer s happiness

The Importance Of Literacy Pedagogies
Literacy pedagogies have a developing and complex history in education, intertwined with social and
cultural change and evolution. Each change has paved a new path for more significant approaches and
strategies, which cater to diverse learners allowing them to create meaning and communicate more
effectively. These literacy pedagogies brought out by the changes in education have both strengths and
weaknesses. As such, educators need to explore and understand the four knowledge processes
portrayed by Kalantzis, Cope, Chan and Dalley Trim; didactic, authentic, functional, and critical
literacy approach (2016), to be able to consider how they can influence teaching and learning so they
are able to make informed decisions with regards to their students literacy learning. Teaching is
becoming increasingly complex; this is particularly evident in the area of literacy. This paper will
explore the four literacy pedagogies, their limitations and their strengths, and how they have impacted
literacy learning within the Australian educational context.
During the 19th century, didactic literacy pedagogy was the first pedagogy to become prominent
subsequent to the mass obligatory, institutionalised education (Kalantzis et al., 2016, p.84). This
approach was widely seen during the Victorian era where education was seen to be teacher centered;
according to Watkins (1999), this approach can also be seen in Australian education during the 1970s
and 1980s. During this time this pedagogy was

Liberalism, Civic Reformism and Democracy Essay
Liberalism, Civic Reformism and Democracy
This paper argues that liberalism provides democracy with the experience of civic reformism. Without
it, democracy loses any tie argumentative or practical to a coherent design of public policy
endeavoring to provide the resources for the realization of democratic citizenship. The case for
liberalism rests on an argumentative reconstruction of the function it performs before the rise of a
world economic order and, more specifically, in the creation of the welfare state after the Second
World War. Accordingly, liberalism defines a reformist political program: it is an emancipatory
political project by virtue of its struggle for an egalitarian and universalist extension of citizenship
rights. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For its later history, liberalism owes as much to its antecedents (situated at the rise of parliamentary
assemblies and of the rule of law in the Middle Ages), as to its linkages with the republican tradition
of communal self government (from the seventeenth century onwards), and with the socialist tradition
in support for an egalitarian model of society (as from the eighteenth century). Indeed, it is this double
tie what determines that the political history of liberalism belongs to the history of modern democracy:
a representative democracy but, thereby, pluralist. The tie also explains that the economic history of
liberalism cannot be separated from the birth of the welfare state.
In both respects liberalism defines a reformist political program: it is an emancipatory political project
by virtue of its struggle for an egalitarian and universalist extension of citizenship rights. This is but a
formulation of the modern idea of citizenship, conceived of as a universalizable contract of rights. At
the same time, liberalism embraces a socio economic emancipatory project that endeavors to provide
the conditions, within the institutional frame of modern societies, for the accomplishment of
citizenship rights. Let us comment on this double characterization.

Mainstream Schooling Is Culturally Bound
In this essay I will address the ways in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, and why this
is a problem for those who have disabilities. Mainstream schools can be determined as a school of
traditional education or a normal school (Spielgaben, 2015). This categorises mainstream schools
within New Zealand as schools of English medium that follow the New Zealand Curriculum and are
state schools. These English medium schools work with the National Standards system which set
specific expectations for students to have met in the key learning areas of reading, writing and
mathematics (Ministry of Education, 2012). This system is just one of the ways in which mainstream
schooling is culturally bound. The Oxford Dictionaries (2015) defines culturally bound as restricted in
character or outlook by belonging or referring to a particular culture. Due to these schools following
particular systems it makes it difficult to cater to the different groups that attend these schools. The
second way in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, that I will address, is that most often
teachers in these schools do not have the time, resources or skills to teach the diversity of disabilities
due to a stronger focus of teaching by the curriculum. This results in more efforts needing to be made
to support those with disabilities. I will focus on the common disabilities and special needs in the
context of students in mainstream schools, such hearing impairments, physical and

Simon As A Christ Figure In William Golding s Lord Of The...
In the novel Lord of The Flies, William Golding portrayed Simon as a Christ figure. Simon and Jesus
led parallel lives. Simon s appearance seemed to resemble that of Jesus Christ s. Simon picked fruit
from the tree to feed the littluns. He also practiced deep meditation away from the other children.
Simon received messages from the Lord of The Flies while meditating. Simon also tried to illuminate
the children about the myth of the beast and dies a horrific death at the hands of the people he loved.
He received an almost angelic burial. His death marks the completion of the destruction of the island s
civilization. All of these events allude to Jesus s life events, according to the scriptures in the Bible.
Simon s appearance seemed to resemble that of Jesus Christ s. Simon is described as having no
external beauty to speak of. He was a small, skinny boy, his chin pointed... (Golding 55). While Jesus
is also described as non good looker himself. ...there is no beauty that we should desire him. (Isaiah

In the novel, Simon picked fruit for the littluns, when they could not reach it. Simon found for them
the fruit they could not reach. (Golding 56). In the Bible, Jesus took 5 loaves of bread and looking up
at the heaven he fed the crowd of people. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to

Theme Of Fire In The Road
Light. Warmth. Danger. Destruction. Divinity. Survival. Love. Hope. In McCarthy s The Road, fire is
a symbol of many things and not only those mentioned. Throughout the novel we are told that the
father and the son are the good guys because they are carrying the fire (pp. 87, 136 ). It is mainly the
son the one who has the fire inside him, but we do not really realize what it makes reference to.
Nonetheless, in this paper I will try to give a broad compilation of the symbols that we can attach to
this element within Cormac McCarthy s novel, The Road. Fire might be a double edged sword. To
begin with, it is fire which has brought the world to that situation, for everything around the father and
the son is completely burnt and they are making their way through ashes. Here we see fire as an
unpredictable and destructive force. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree with Rambo when she states that We re carrying the fire is a statement of mission. [...] the
father has given their journey purpose (2008:104). They have to keep on walking south because
someone is waiting for them, waiting for the fire they are carrying. At the end of the novel, when the
father is about to die, he says to his son that he cannot stay with him because he has to carry the fire he
has inside him (298) that is his mission; he is the most necessary element in a world where necessity is
all around. Therefore this makes me question whether carrying the fire is only an illusion the father
has created, an excuse to keep on walking and forgetting what they are leaving behind. As we are
going to see next, the boy is the man s last hope. The man is only living in order to save his son s life
and if the man dies, nothing will remain for the boy to continue fighting, thus the man has to give him
a purpose, a mission to keep on carrying the fire. What would become of us if we did not provide our
lives with a goal, with a reason to carry

Essay about Characters Tested in Michael Crichton’s Sphere
People do things that they normally would not do when they are put in certain situation that test them.
In Michael Crichton s novel Sphere, Beth does many things that she would not normally do when she
is put in certain situations that test her. I want to put you under, Norman. Like Harry. He shook his
head. It s only for a few hours, Norman, she said, and then she seemed decide; she moved swiftly
toward him, and he saw the syringe in her hand, the glint of the needle, and he twisted away... She had
shut off his power, she had shut off his heat, and now she shut off his air. He was trapped (Crichton

This says that Beth (with the help of Norman) has to make Harry unconscious, so she uses a syringe to
inject the anesthetic into Harry. This means that with Harry unconscious, the manifestations will stop
occurring, that is if Harry was thinking up the manifestations. This proves that people will do anything
when they are put in a certain situation that tests them because Beth has to artfully use an anesthetic
on a colleague by puncturing his shoulder, and only for hope that the manifestations stop occurring
and that she does not die. People do things that they normally would not do when they are put in
certain situation that test them because Beth turned against her own colleague and used an anesthetic
on him to make him unconscious.
In certain situations, people do things that they normally would not do. When Beth is in the presence
of the power of the Sphere she accuses Norman of having the Sphere s power because the
manifestations are still occurring. Beth, this is crazy. Someone is still making these manifestations.
Who is doing that, Beth? She smiled slowly a lazy, cat smile, as if he secretly amused her. Don t you
really know? He did know. Yes, he thought. He knew, and it chilled him. You re making these
manifestations, Beth. No Norman, she said, still calm. I m not doing it. You are (Crichton 417). This
says that Beth thinks that Norman it making the manifestations so she is accusing him. This means

The Auteur Theory By Francois Truffaut
The auteur theory first began in the 1950s by a group of young French scholars who wrote for the
journal Cahiers du Cinema. Most significant of these scholars was Francois Truffaut who wrote an
article that served as the touchstone for auteurism. The auteur principle is used as a descriptive method
that focuses not on whether a director is a great director but rather on the fundamental composition of
a director s work. This principle therefore focuses on a director s thematic and stylistic uniformity,
established filming method, personal artistic vision, recurring themes and most significantly his
control over a film s production. Auteur films are distinctive due to the unique artistic vision of its
director and the fact that it imbues his personality. The auteur term is consequently used to distinguish
directors whose works are distinguishable from others. It is important to note that not all directors can
be auteurs. Only certain directors were able to express their personality through their works with the
use of themes and style and would therefore to continuously produce the same types of stories.
Looking at all of a director s work was the only way to identify their individuality and to be able to
place their mark on a film suggested the strength of the director as an artist. The style and overall form
is the primary concern of an auteur film, not the content. The best directors were able to do this so
skillfully that their talents allowed them to artistically reshape

The End of the World Essay
The End of the World
In writing definitively about American films of the nineteen fifties, Douglas Brode refers to the
societal hysteria resulting from fear of both the communist threat and the possibility of nuclear war.
Accompanying this general state of mind was the emergence of the science fiction film as a major
genre. Titles in the genre dealt with fantasy topics ranging from alien invasion (The Thing, 1951, or
Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 1956), to biologial missing links (The Creature from the Black
Lagoon, 1954), to the bizarre side effects of nuclear contamination (The Incredible Shrinking Man,
1957), or to actual nuclear war (The World, the Flesh and The Devil, 1959).
Another interesting example of this last category ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strada describes a spectrum of discourses ranging from the extreme right, constituted of the governing
elite and the politicians notion of the Pax Atomica, to the extreme left, occupied by the type of panic
about the bomb which resulted in some of the more grizzly works of science fiction literature. The
other specific positions he addresses are the sugar coated science fiction films (left of centre), the
avoidance seeking general public (centre), and the atomic scientists with their varied acceptance of the
H bomb as a necessary evil (right of centre). Regardless of one s position along the spectrum, the
possibility of nuclear war constituted a daily reality in the life of the average American in the nineteen
fifties. Government agencies issued specifications for the household bomb shelter, school children
experienced weekly drills teaching them the most effective positions to brace themselves against the
physical force of an atomic explosion, and true to form, the cinema presented society with various
reflections of face of the nuclear potential or the nuclear threat.
In most of the science fiction of the time, a primary concern related to the threat of the end of the
world is the belief that humanity, in its bizarre mix of madness and complacency, has created and
perfected the means of its own destruction. As a result, even in instances where the nuclear fiction
casts blame on an

Outline For Disease Essay
Disease is based in fact and is objective, and is not based on the values of the day.
I. Argument for Position
1) A disease is not an illness, and the distinction between the two is very important.
a) A disease is defined as an unhealthy condition or a condition that affects the functioning of the
body. For example, the flu, which causes fever, muscle aches, headache, fatigue, and other similar
cold like symptoms.
b) On the other hand, an illness is normative; it does not disrupt biological functions. At one time, it
was thought that being left handed was a disease, but this would have instead been an illness.
c) To name a new disease, you must have evidence that it is what is causing the patient s problems. To
simply scramble together all the symptoms one is experiencing into one large amalgamation with no

Counterargument
1) Disease is when one deviates from the norm, and is based on our values of the time.
a) One should aspire to be an ideal person. We judge what is significant and insignificant in terms of
health, which is determined by our values (Englehardt 234).
b) Our values are relatively constant, and do not change as much as people think. We often say one
thing, but one the inside, many do not believe what they are saying.
2) An example of a disease would be masturbation. It causes a multitude of symptoms, and can even
cause death.
a) Commonly in medicine, several symptoms are grouped together into a disease. One of these
examples is masturbation. Some of its symptoms include epilepsy, loss of hearing, and physical
changes in the genitalia, and the loss of seminal fluid exaggerates these symptoms, as one ounce of the
fluid is equal to forty ounces of blood (Englehardt 236).
b) There were treatments for the disease, such as a change in diet, exercise, and acupuncture, among
others (245). They worked as in the example of the doctor, who had chosen to be castrated because his
addiction to masturbation had kept him from the outside world for seven

The Road To Patriation By Robert Duncan
The Road to Patriation
To create a constitution is no small feat; that much can be seen by the incredible journey that Canada
went through. A span of several years, different governments and tactics (each becoming more and
more desperate) working almost in full force to help pursue a patriated constitution. The Road to
Patriation, written and directed by Robert Duncan, creates a narrative that discusses the absolute need
for a constitution that allowed Canada the right to amend the constitution. The film shins a light on the
political importance of locating Canadian politics in Canada, and the government powers that
reintroduced the idea of a charter of rights and the methods they used. Furthermore, the film does a
fantastic job of highlighting the First Nations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have always seen politics as a serious and rather straight forwards thing, and thought that basic rights
(such as those written in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms) was a rather straight forwards concept
and nothing that should be discussed to such an extent that the provinces had done. It was outrageous
this concept of having to bargin for these rights, and then to find that the provincial government could
override these aspects (other than those of bilingual and the rights of the individual of course and
thank goodness for that), was not one I thought could be this complex! To add to that feeling, seeing
the attitude of the film was rather interesting as well mostly because of the humor attached to it. I have
always loved political cartoons and too see the ideas behind them directly from the author was
impressive. Another humorous aspect was the laughter; I was not expecting any to begin with and to

The Inadequacy Of Free Enterprise
The Inadequacy of Free Enterprise The perception that there is a need for government involvement in
pensions is in large part due to the fact that private pensions are decreasingly reliable. According to
Bonnar (2008), conventional wisdom suggests that private sector defined benefit (DB) pension plans
are in the midst of a funding crisis (p. 21). In terms of how this applies to Ontario in particular, it is
probably based, Bonnar (2008) argues, on the fact that the largest 100 companies in the Toronto stock
exchange saw their median funded ratios reduced from 108 percent by the end of the year 2000 down
to 79 percent in 2005. This is despite the fact that contributions made by sponsors increased
dramatically during the same period from 4 million dollars in 2000 to 14 million in 2005. This is
based on a study looking at the largest 100 companies on the Toronto stock exchange index as
determined by market capitalization (Bonnar, 2008, p. 21). Companies that did not offer defined
benefit pension plans were excluded from the analysis. Companies in the financial sector were
reviewed separately because the financial ratios are so drastically different in that sector of the
economy than elsewhere. Robson (2008) supports the idea that private pension funds are not sufficient
to meet the retirement needs of Ontarian workers, arguing that By now, however, evidence is
overwhelming that the problems afflicting single employer defined benefit plans are not just the result
of a series

The Bolsheviks
Lawyers would say that Europe, Asia, and the United States of America are completely different.
However, from the point of view of the citizens, the similarities in their daily lives are numerous, even
if some fundamental differences remain. To begin with the most obvious similarity and example: in
the USA, as well as in parts of Europe, citizens use a single currency, identical to the currency of their
neighboring States. Just as in Europe, in the USA, several decisions remain the responsibility of the
states, such as highway code, certain taxes, social welfare, minimum wages, and certain areas of
justice. At the political level, some plea for further independence of the States in relation to the federal
government, while others are bidding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It should not be unforeseen that the Bolsheviks worked hard to safeguard that any person potentially
antagonistic to them did not retain arms. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted during the Russian
Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements fought the central Red
regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October 1918, the Council of People s
Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As
has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms registration has been introduced, registration
proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of
the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison
for non Communist possession of a firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red
triumph in the Civil War, the firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken,
unauthorized possession of a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made
unauthorized possession of a firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300
rubles (equal to about four months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Stalin apparently
found little need to alternate the weapons control structure he had inherited. This chapter of Lethal
Laws summarizes the genocide perpetrated by Stalin from 1929 to 1953, starting with his efforts to
collectivize farming by destroying the class of property owning farmers. Altogether, about twenty
million people were murdered, worked to death in slave labor camps, or deliberately starved to death
by Stalin s government. Stalin s successful campaign of genocide against the Kulaks and against
dissident Communists served as a model for

Essay about Black Holes
If theories of their existence are true, black holes are the most powerful force in the known physical
universe. Many people are familiar with the term black hole, but few people actually know anything
about them. A black hole forms as a result of a massive star running out of fuel to burn (Chaisson,
193). Once the star is no longer exerting outward force by burning off gases, it begins to collapse
under it s own intense, inward gravity (Chaisson, 193). It is like slowly letting the air out of a balloon.
Once the star is compacted to a certain size, while it s mass, or weight, remains the same, it s gravity
becomes so powerful that nothing can escape it (Hawking, 87). This critical size to weight ratio is
known as the Schwarzchild
Radius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The simple formula for this, in physics, states that a body s escape velocity is equal to the square root
of it s mass, divided by it s radius
(Chaisson, 77). For example, if a body s mass is two hundred, and it s size is twelve and one half, the
escape velocity would be four. If the size of the same body is reduced to two, while it s mass remained
at two hundred, the escape velocity increases to ten. Since a black hole s size is always decreasing and
it s weight is always the same, the escape velocity is infinite (Chaisson,
195). This means that nothing can escape a black hole past the event horizon, not even light. Light is
made up of waves and particles. It was discovered, in 1676, by Danish astronomer, Ole
Christenson, that light travels at a very high, but finite speed (Hawking, 18). These properties of light
govern that it must be subject to forces of nature, such as gravity. Light travels at such a high speed
that it is not observably effected by gravity, unless that gravity is very strong. A black hole s gravity is
powerful enough to trap light because it s escape velocity, being infinite, exceeds the speed of light
(Hawking, 82). This is why a black hole is black. Once light crosses the event horizon it is drawn into
the hole in space. Although the light is still hitting objects, it is not able to bounce off to indicate their
existence to an observer,

The History of Health and Safety Legislation in the UK
The history of health and safety legislation in the UK is like a patchwork quilt with a large number of
distinct pieces of legislation going back in ancient time. One of these patchworks is CDM regulations.
The following is coverage of analysis that explain the role and duties of designers and analysis of
sources of design liability. The duties and regulations are as explained below.
Designers must evade predictable dangers to those included in the development and future utilization
of the structure. Architects must dispose of dangers so far as is sensibly down to earth, and after that
lessen the danger connected with perils that remain. Architects should likewise give sufficient data
about any critical dangers connected with their configuration and co ordinate their work with that of
others so as to enhance the route in which dangers are controlled. Planners must verify that they are
capable and satisfactorily resourced to address the wellbeing and security issues liable to be included
in the configuration. Planners are frequently the first purpose of contact for a customer. The CDM
Regulations 2007 oblige fashioners to watch that customers are mindful of their obligations under the
Regulations. It is the obligation of the fashioner who has the introductory contact with the customer.
Early arrangement of the CDM Co coordinator is urgent for powerful arranging and making
administration courses of action from the beginning. The regulations require the arrangement to

The Ethics Of Nursing Practice
Nursing practice is established in customs, formal consideration and institutional arrangements. Over
the previous decade, nurses have been tested to answer the inquiry, why do they do what they do or
demonstrate the confirmation that nursing practices are successful (Wolf, 2012). The worry over
results of consideration developed because of raising expense of think and inquiries concerning the
quality and security our consideration gave. The developing interest for healthcare services to utilize
best practices as a part of their consideration is additionally gone for enhancing the wellbeing of that
care. This is a global test to nurses, doctors and other healthcare providers confronted with an interest
for new responsibility for their practice (DiCenso, Guyatt, Ciliska, (2005). This essay will discuss the
meaning of rituals in nursing and evidence based practice as well as their differences. Equally
important to discuss the reason how site determination, needle choice, insertion system and aspiration
can be referred to as cases of routined or ritual practice and why these ought to be dismiss for a
evidence based methodology. The impact on some student nurses of encountering contrasting
practices between what is taught at university and what is regularly seen in clinical practice,

Cosmological Arugment
Cosmological Argument Many philosophers have provided their arguments for the existence of God.
Their arguments are a priori or a posteriori. A posteriori is based on experience of how the world is. In
which the Cosmological view of William L. Rowe comes from. This paper will show how Rowe took
the cosmological argument and its principle of sufficient reason and failed to make it an established
argument of the existence of God.
Cosmological Argument has been taking by many and divided into parts of their argument. Rowe was
influenced by the Philosophers Saint Thomas Aquinas in the thirteenth century and Samuel Clarke in
the eighteenth century. All men have similar view points, also are slightly different, and can be

For the ones who know three plus three equals does and must equal six, are not always for the
principle of sufficient reason and some even claim that the principle is false (Rowe 55). Thus I believe
that there are things and positive facts that do not need explanation.
The second of which Principles of sufficient reason is defended is by claiming that although it is not
known to be true, it is, nevertheless, a presupposition of reason, a basic assumption that rational
people make (Rowe 55). A person for principle of sufficient reason says that all of us already think
that principle of sufficient reason is true. The problem with this is that even if we do believe that
principle of sufficient reason is true, us believing in it does not make it true. I believe in one thing and
another person might believe in something completely different. Holding ones belief in some subject
does not make it true nor does it make it false.
In conclusion if one wants to hold the Cosmological Argument to prove the existence of God, then the
proof of the principle of sufficient reason needs to have more evidence. The principles of sufficient
reason are what make up the premises of Cosmological Argument in which have no evidence of being
true. Therefore one cannot use the Cosmological Argument to prove the existence of God, until the
principle of sufficient reason has more evidence to back its

The History of Eating Utensils
When you sit down at your dinner table do you ever wonder about the fork, knife, and spoon? The
history of eating utensils goes way back to the first human beings when they started eating with their
fingers but over time their eating methods were refined and they started to use spoons, knifes, and
forks. Many people were hesitant to make the switch to eating utensils like the English. In the
medieval times people used their fingers but as time passed they started to use forks. As the diners
enter the hall, they stop by the side table to wash their hands at the basin... it is done in public so that
everyone will know his or her neighbors fingers are clean when they reach into a bowl for food
(Giblin 15). Only refined people ate with their 3 fingers no more or less was considered uncultured.
The word fork comes from the Latin word furca and the Old English word forca, (Bohannon 30.) The
origin of the fork mostly points to the ancient Greeks in Greece. Forks were big and two pronged for
the carving of meat, according to The History of Eating Utensils. An Englishman named Thomas
Coryate brought the first fork to England from Italy, when he stared to show people they ridiculed him
and his forks. Forks were brought from Italy to France when Catherine de Medicis married the future
King Henry II. The French were hesitant to use the forks, according to The History of Eating Utensils.
Eventually times changed and people transitioned into forks and other eating utensils like

Capstone Project Essay
Capstone Project and Research Investigation
Introduction
According to Kirkpatrick and Weaver (2013) the capstone project strives to focus on the practice that
is the final project of the students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. The
characteristics of the DNP capstone project describe either how a practice issue affects the particular
group, population, or community. The project also addresses how knowledge circulates through
translation or integration of evidenced base practice. The capstone project provides a foundation for
future scholarship and reflects the student s understanding of knowledge and expertise. Furthermore,
the capstone project addresses the academic product that reflects the student s involvement (Webb,
2014).
According to Campbell Benn (2011) a capstone project includes identifying data as a problem in an
actual setting and developing the means to address it. A capstone project can either be research
oriented or design oriented. Resolutions of the project are usually collaborative and can result in the
implementation and utilization. Also identifying a clinically significant teaching, learning need
supported by the scientific literature is the priority of the capstone project. Individualizing the
capstone project include a combination of an academic project with personal experiences, previous
nursing knowledge, and newly acquired graduate skills (Cambell Benn, 2011).

Historical Leader Synthesis Essay On Sir Winston Churchill
Historical Leader Synthesis Essay on Sir Winston Churchill
Soaked in sweat, I ran to the library to get a book on a historical leader before they were all gone. I
would like to think I found a great leader, but I think one found me. As I was reading a book on great
leaders of World War II, I initially focused on American leaders, but Sir Winston S. Churchill seemed
fit my exact requirements. Sir Winston S. Churchill was a Visionary and Ethical Leader. In the
following pages, I will explain how Winston was a visionary leader and how he used Inspirational
Motivation and global diversity to gain advantage during World War II. I will also explain how he
critically thought through a gut wrenching decision by using Dr. Toner s three Ps in the ... Show more

In Harmon s (1991) article, he details a scene where Sir Winston Churchill is sitting around the
strategy table, debating the benefits of area bombing. Area bombing is a tactic where an area is
indiscriminately bombed, regardless of military objective. During the meeting Winston stood up and
proclaimed, Are we beasts, are we taking this too far (Harmon, 1991, p. 3). LM03, Ethical Leadership,
discusses Dr. Toner s three P s, which are principle, purpose, and people (DAF, 2014c, p. 7). To me,
Winston Churchill put the three P s in the correct order when he decided to commence area bombings.
He put the principle of freedom and justice before the purpose of winning the war and finally, he put
the people in their proper place of third. Had he not made this decision, who knows how many more
would have died. The air raids killed innocent women and children, but many others today enjoy
freedom and liberty because of this decision. The war continued and as the German people became
war weary, ended in 1945 due, in part, to Churchill s proper use of the three P s. Making a decision
like this takes guts, resolve, and most importantly an ability to see the second and third order effects.
Winston Churchill would not have made the decision to area bomb had he not known that its effect on
the German people would cause them to lose their will to fight, therefore limiting the endless supply
of troops Hitler seemed to be able to acquire. This, to me, is why Course 14 intertwined the critical
thinking and ethical leadership modules. On Facione s scoring rubric from CF03, Critical Thinking, I
would definitely have given Winston s decision to use area bombing a 4 out of 4 (DAF, 2014b, p. 24).
In the strategy brief, he interpreted the evidence

The question of based on multiple texts/ entertainment ( movies, TV) how has the meaning or
requirements for the island archetype change throughout time has been answered throughout this
paper. Let s break this down one more time. From the nature of the island archetype we can see that
C.G Jung created this for insight on a character which probably is a reason why many of today s origin
stories model after this archetype. The Odyssey and the TV show Arrow were clearly made in seperate
times, and although they have differences, the two stories share similarities, so just look at how the
characters develop. Yes they develop at different times, but the way is basicly the same. The two
Batman stories really show a difference, we see a major emotional change from a confident playboy
millionaire to a angery almost murderer. Finally, we sum this up and see that the island archetype
origin story is basically essential to a character s development. C.G Jung painted the way for literature
for growth and new ideas, but he didn t realize that his idea, the island archetype was the revolutionary
idea that used the entire paint can of the

Physical and Chemical Changes Essay

Physical and chemical changes lab essay
Changes in matter occur every day. There are two types of ways matter can be altered; physically and
chemically. Physical changes do not change the composition of the matter while chemical changes
occur when one or more substances turn into a completely new substance. Physical changes can be
seen through an altering of the substances physical property. A substances physical property is
observed and measured without changing the composition of the subject. Descriptive words that
would help to identify a substance s physical property include hard, soft, brittle, flexible, heavy, and

The relationship of reactants and products is shown by a chemical equation. An example of a chemical
change that one could come into contact with daily is rust. Air and iron are the reactants in this
situation while rust is the product. The chemical equation for this reaction would look roughly like
this, O+FE= OFE or rust. This is clearly a chemical change because you cannot reverse it meaning
you cannot take rust and pull out the iron to leave air or vise versa. All chemical changes are finite.
One other example of a chemical change is the burning of any substance. For example if one were to
burn a sheet of paper it would create ash. This chemical change is finite because you cannot change
ash back into paper. Another term to remember when considering changes chemical and physical is
the law of conservation of mass. This law simply means that matter can neither be created nor
destroyed. Two other terms that are important when describing the properties of substances
undergoing changes are extensive and intensive properties. An intensive property is a physical
property of a substance that does not depend upon its size such as viscosity. Extensive properties
however do depend on a substance s size such as mass and volume. A few more important terms to
keep in mind when doing a lab with chemical and physical changes are

The same is true for construction scheduling; the schedule, similar to a game plan, shows where you
are and where you are going. Mr. Whittle also compared scheduling to a set of dominos. In this
metaphor, each domino refers to an individual task in the schedule. Mr. Whittle explained that until the
tape and float domino falls, you cannot paint. Items in the schedule that are dependent on a previous
activity must fall in a sequential order in order for the schedule to be an effective tool. Mr. Whittle
also stressed the importance of breaking the schedule up into bite sized pieces. The smaller the pieces,
the more manageable a schedule is to maintain and communicate. To explain the importance of a
schedule in the process of constructing a building, Mr. Whittle showed us how he scheduled the Roth

Understanding Leadership And Empowerment Of The Workplace
Annotation
Ba, B. G. M. (2015). Understanding leadership and empowerment in the workplace. European
Scientific Journal, 11(35), 342.
Critical Summary of Article Employee empowerment has become an important strategic tool used by
leaders of the 21st century. According to Ba (2015), a recent change in management style has led to
the empowerment of employees in the workplace creating a situation where empowering followers is
an assumed responsibility of all leaders and thought to be a motivational tactic. The relationship
between leaders and employee has become more strategic than anytime in business due to
globalization. Leaders must understand how to use employee empowerment. Ba suggest, a negative
view of a leader can hinder performance; therefore, exploring the aspects that guide followers to
develop a positive image of their leader establishes desirable outcomes, and can create a positive view
of a leader. Employee empowerment is tested to see if it is the key in aligning organizations systems,
processes, people, practices, encourages creativity, innovation, problem solving, and problem
resolution within a control framework that is beneficial towards many important aspects (Ba).
Critical Analysis of Research Method

method was administered to 637 customer service engineers within the same industry whose firms

The difference between common intention constructive trusts and proprietary estoppel has been

developed and give reasons for your answer.
In his article Equitable Rights of Cohabitees Hayton suggested that the distinction between common
intention constructive trusts and proprietary estoppel has, over time, come to be but illusory and goes

Proprietary estoppel, on the other hand, is a legal bar preventing a (first) party from denying another
(second) party s right in first party s property where the second party has incurred costs in that
property to its detriment . Proprietary estoppel, like other types of estoppel, is not a remedy in itself
but a tool to raise estoppel equity , on the basis of which the court is able to decide on the type of
remedy that this equity will satisfy. Similarly to the need for the element of common intention for the
purpose of establishing a constructive trust, there is a need for the establishment of an active or
passive assurance on the part of the defendant that leads to some form of consequential detriment on
the part of the claimant when acting in reliance on that assurance. Thus, there must be a causal
connection between the actions undertaken by the claimant and the initial assurance on the part of the
defendant. The extent and the nature of the detriment suffered by the claimant, however, appears to be
substantially more flexible than that necessary to find the existence of a constructive trust. For
example, in Inwards v Baker [1965], such detriment amounted to the improvement of the defendant s
land, while in Gillett v Holt [2001] it was manifested in both financial and personal detriment. Yet

Mutiny In Romeo And Juliet
Unfamiliar Word Educated Guess Dictionary Definition Piteous This word s prefix is similar to pity.
Therefore it should logically mean the two families will reunite with pity intertwined in their hearts
and endeavor to start a new beginning with peace. Using the Oxford dictionary they describe piteous
as, deserving or arousing pity. I am proud of myself for using the technique of observing the prefix
and therefore understanding the meaning of the word. Civil In this particular sentence Shakespeare
uses irony to discuss two corrupt views who wholeheartedly believe their perspective is civilized not
comprehending that numerous deaths lay on their shoulders. Similar to my analyzation this word s
true intention describes citizens who (ironically) are civilized, cultured and polite with the other social
classes. Dignity A person who has overcome adversities and is worthy to be elevated in the social

The application of force is often considered ethically neutral it can, under a variety of circumstances,
constitute an abuse of authority. The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) defines the
use of force as that amount of effort required by police to compel compliance from an unwilling
subject (Police Use of Force in America 2001, n.d, p. 1). The IACP defines the use of excessive force
as the application of an amount and/or frequency of force greater than that required to compel

Australia. The Australian High Court appreciated them to share a common as well as biological
ancestry as Australia s original occupants (de Plevitz, Croft, 2003). There has however been a lot of
ignorance with reference to this group of people more so from the Australians. This has mostly been
due to ignorance of these people with most arguments and opinions based on myths (Morphy, Morphy,
1984, p.459 478).
Australia has enjoyed over a century since it gained its Federation status from its colonizers, having
joined the Commonwealth in 1901 (Le Roy, Saunders, 2005, pp. 7 9.). Despite this, the status of its ...

To this end, they came up with further recommendations to enhance the reconciliation process
amongst them being to abolish all racial discriminative elements that still existed out of the 1901
constitution. They also recommended that a new Preamble be set forth that would recognize the
Aboriginal as well as their fellow native tribes as being the original residents of the State. Their final
proposal was directed towards the insurance of enactment of legislation that would enshrine processes
that would forge forth means of uniting the entire state of Australia by way of agreement or treaty.
These treaty or agreement would further ensure the resolving of any issues that detracted
reconciliation.
All these are clear indications that the Australians failed to relate and know the aboriginal people. Had
this been so, there then would have raised no demand for a treaty at the end of reconciliation. The
demand has thus made the establishment as well as the operations of the Council for Aboriginal
Reconciliation more or less an irony. This is due to the fact that the same had been in place as a
political response to the failed attempts to come up with a proposal treaty. These attempts and
enactment of the council had been predeceased by the Bicentenary of European settlement/invasion
that was held in 1988.
Such lack of recognition has also been reflected by the ignorance and or deliberate attempts to

Abortion, Right, Public Policy, And Constitutional Law Essay
Abortion, Right to Life Abortion raises subtle problems for private conscience, public policy, and
constitutional law. Most of these problems are essentially philosophical, requiring a degree of clarity
about basic concepts that is seldom achieved in legislative debates and letters to newspapers (Feinberg
1984: 1).
Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28
weeks of pregnancy. Abortion is a reality for many women in the Philippines, but many consider it
taboo. The Catholic Church regards it as mortal sin because taking another s life is forbidden and life
is a precious gift given by God. Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every
procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to
say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law. John Calvin, a
French theologian and pastor during the Protestant Reformation, states that :
The fetus, though enclosed in the womb of its mother, is already a human being, and it is a most
monstrous crime to rob it of the life, which it has not yet begun to enjoy. If it seems more horrible to
kill a man in his own house than in a field, because a man s house is his place of most secure refuge, it
ought surely to be deemed more atrocious to destroy a fetus in the womb before it has come to light.
(Calvin, 1984)
Many women resort to abortion because they think that they

Literary Analysis Of Robert Frost s Nothing Gold Can Stay
This poem was written by Robert Frost. It was written in America, in english. It was written when
people thought the world was going to end, around the 1920 s.
The poem could be confessional, but it could also be a narrative. It tells a story of leaves and flowers
dying, and about children growing up, but the reason he wrote the poem is to tell the story of the
world ending. The poem also talks about Robert s political views, in a way. He s saying that he does
believe the world is going to end.
The title of the poem is Nothing Gold Can Stay. It conveys multiple meanings. Such as Spring, or
children growing up, or the world is going to end.
There is no repeating words in the poem, however Robert Frost does use an AA BB AA BB pattern for
his rhymes.
In the poem, a few months pass. It talks about the birth of spring and the ending of it. But if you look
at it from the children growing up perspective, then around 18 years pass. However if you look at
Nothing Gold Can Stay as a poem about the end of the world, than 9,500 years passes. He says So
Eden sank to grief in the Bible the Garden of Eden was created in the beginning, and man was kicked
out, so Eden sank to grief. Now, the world is ending and 9,500 years have passed, assuming he
believes in a young Earth.
There are no human characters in the poem, there are only leaves, flowers, and the Earth. Eden and
Nature are also characters.
Robert Frost doesn t leave out any details. He only uses his words in a way to convey

Bangladesh has a huge supply of raw materials for the agro based industry. 2. Fruits and vegetable
production has increased significantly in recent years. 3. Government and NGOs have been
conducting regular training programs in developing a skilled manpower for this industry. Director of
Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Kabirur Rahman Khan said the region, a food
surplus area, produced adequate amount of crops particularly rice, maize, wheat and soybean, fruits
especially mango, banana, papaya and tomato and vegetables over the last couple of years due to
suitable soil condition, topography and climate
4. Development of the Industrial Sector: Issues and Challenges
❖ The performance of the small and cottage industry sector calls for special attention because of its
labour intensive character, its focus on catering to the demand of low and medium income consumers
and its capacity for import substitution. Amongst the small scale industries, production of electric
apparatus, plastic toys, miscellaneous metal wears, tin plate and readymade wear has registered robust
performance in recent years. To be sure, this sub sector has also been particularly vulnerable to natural
disasters and other production snags compared to medium and large scale industries.
❖ Factors inhibiting industrial investment in Bangladesh are rather common for domestic as well as
foreign investors: poor infrastructure, absence

My Book Retell I Have Chosen The Hobbit By J.k. R. Tolkien
For My book retell I have chosen The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It takes place in the fictional
land of Middle Earth, where Elves and dwarves roamed the lands and much darker creatures too, such
as Trolls and Goblins. Our tale starts off like this. In a hole in the ground, there lives a Hobbit .
Hobbits are a simple folk who rarely wander beyond their little town of Baggend. They are no taller
than a human child, but they eat like giants. They love eating so much, they have seven meals a day.
Breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper. They have a mop
of curly hair on there head and big furry feet. That brings us to the main protagonist, Bilbo Baggins.
Throughout the story he is accompanied by Thirteen dwarves, lead by Thorin Oakenshield, and the
wizard, Gandalf the Grey. There are many antagonists in this story including goblins, trolls, elves, and
even humans, but the main conflict is with Smaug, the fire breathing dragon, who has stolen Thorin s
kingdom.
Hobbits in Baggend rarely have anything close to an adventure, since they would have to leave the
comfort of their warm hobbit hole. Bilbo Baggins, never in his wildest dreams, would find himself
hunting dragons next to dwarves and wizards. However, one day, while he was smoking his pipe of
tobacco, he heard a knock on his gate. It was Gandalf. He wondered if Bilbo wanted to take part in an
adventure. Bilbo quickly urged the wizard away saying he wanted nothing to do

Robert Louis Stevenson Moral Obligation
For Stevenson moral disagreement is basically a disagreement in attitudes but often this disagreement
includes a disagreement in beliefs. Disagreements in beliefs can be solved with knowledge and
referring to empirical evidence but that is not the case for disagreements in attitudes. Such a
disagreements persists as long as any of the parties retains an attitude that is contrary to the other.
In my opinion saying that expressivism basically claims that ethical statements express just
exclamative and imperative sentences like Hurra! or Be kind , is not a fair description of it. Dreier
intend to show that Stevenson s thesis, expressivism, fail to give an accurate account of disagreement
because they basically repeat the contextualist s fault. In my opinion Dreier s argument does not
succeed and it mixed what seems to be an ambiguity of linguistics with an ambiguity of the mental
states. A reconsidered version of Gibbard s hyperplan could be used to solve the problem.
Realists consider that moral claims do report facts and that their truth or falsehood, at least in some
cases, can be determined. Anti realists like Stevenson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The questions discussed above lead, in my opinion, to the capital question of the purpose of moral. I
consider that Stevenson s main contribution with the inclusion of attitudes is to facilitate the
understanding of the aim of morality. Contrasting attitudes cannot be solved until one party accept the
other s attitude. The implication of this is clear, moral disagreement tends to create common attitudes
about certain aspects of the world, e.g. stealing or murder. It is not the case of to establish the truth or
falsehood of certain moral claims. It is a question of establishing in common attitudes. This in
common attitudes became a moral norm in the group or society. If this is true an interaction between
individuals, directly or indirectly, is a necessary condition for moral

Memories And Surmoring In Margaret Atwood s Surfacing
In Margaret Atwood s novel Surfacing, memories and forgetting are large themes, which show that
memories are what truly define a person and are exceedingly important to the healing process. One
way in which memories are prevalent throughout the novel is in the narrator s flashbacks to her
supposed husband. These flashbacks show how the narrator has created fabricated memories, and she
experiences suffering and frustration from this, showing how the narrator does not feel whole as a
person without the true memories of her past. When the narrator finally does remember all that has
happened to her, she realizes that she needs to deal with these memories in order to achieve healing.
In the beginning of Surfacing, the narrator remembers very few actual true memories, and has created
an almost completely fabricated story of her past in order to deal with what really happened. She is
running from her past in the form of fabricated memories. However, she is clearly having immense
distress about this, and the tone in the beginning of the novel is one of dread and confusion, aligning
with how she doesn t know the truth of her past at this time but has an inkling that something is
wrong. One passage that showcases these things is near the beginning of the novel, when the Narrator,
Anna, David, and Joe are going into the woods to look for the Narrator s father. We begin to climb and
my husband catches up with me again, making one of the brief appearances, framed memories he

Working With Reiki
One of the main reasons why people become interested in learning is the fact, popularized by
practitioners, that working with Reiki helps us make our dreams and goals come true. Yet, rarely
anyone says that such manifestation or dreams and goals takes a lot of time and requires even more
patience. And, of course, the goals and dreams manifest in accordance with the highest good like
everything else when it comes to Reiki.
The first thing, the need for patience, is important, because in order to make our dreams come true, we
need to heal ourselves, first. And that requires a lot of patient healing work with Reiki, dealing with
our own subconscious fears, worries and thinking patterns and healing them. But there are ways,
through which Reiki s spiritual force could help us manifest our dreams and goals ... Show more

This might be true, however, there is little hard evidence to prove this theory. Another theory is that
Huna has been created from scratch by Max Freedom Long, a XX century novelist and author, and
that Huna s legend has been made up by him entirely. Which theory is correct? Well, to be honest, I do
not know. Probably no one knows. But the truth is that it doesn t really matter because Huna works, no
matter what do you believe in.
Basically, Huna is a form of magick, in which you perform specific practices in order to achieve
specific results. When you keep some rules in mind, Huna works all the time. These rules are what we
call the basic set of Huna mechanism. To summarize these basics, Huna is all about three minds the
lower self, the middle self and the higher self and about the highest good. By understanding these
elements, and applying them in your practice, you make Huna work for you. But ignore these
elements, and your effort won t bring proper fruits, if it brings any fruits at

  • 2. What Intimate Relationship Between Transparent Logic,... Japanese autodidact modernist architect Tadao Ando, explores the intimate relationship between transparent logic, abstraction, nature and place through the study of material and form and the interaction between the everyday human life and it s surrounding in his architecture. The interplay of these elements are evident through his body of work especially his residential Koshino House and Extension project. His broad depth in understanding the inherent fundamental human needs and his close study of famous modernist architects such as Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright has resulted in his prevailing success. I create architectural order on the basis of geometry... and in this way to develop a theory of parts that is founded on the sensibility of the Japanese people . As a child growing up in front of a wood workshop, being fascinated by what he saw, at the age of 10 17 Ando became an apprentice, learning to create wooden models and the skills of a carpenter. There he discovered the beauty of the balance between a form and the material it is made of. However it was not until he was 18, when he discovered a book about Le Corbusier and began to travel and analyse traditional and contemporary architecture in Japan, Europe and the United States, he came to understand these relationships in actual architecture as an entire physical being. • 3. Dna Profiling And The National Dna Database System Part B: Report DNA Profiling: Is it ethical to have national DNA database system? Introduction: Today, the advancing gene technology provides humanity with numerous benefits such as Genetically Modified Food, CRISPER, and one of them is the use of DNA profiling for storing bio information. DNA fingerprint technology allows mapping of individual s genetic patterns that can be stored into the database system (What is DNA fingerprint? 2016). The ability to profile gene effectively, DNA fingerprinting is used as a problem solving tool in the justice system and medical science researches. At the same time, ethical and social issues such as privacy violations, human rights and the possibility of discrimination cannot be ignored. Biological Background: It is scientifically proven that DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) contains genetic material and highly specific to individual. DNA fingerprint can be tested by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) methods and Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods. Although RFLP is considered more accurate, due to the cost and requirement of longer period to complete, it is not commonly used. While only 1% of genetic materials are unique to individual, the short tandem repeats (STR) sequences called minisatellites can be used to distinguish all humans as it shows great variation between each person (What is DNA fingerprint? 2016). DNA fingerprinting technique involves a number of steps. The DNA sample from fluid, hair or any part of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Hannah Arendt Minority Treaties Hannah Arendt s begins the chapter with the first part of after the fall of the First World War stating the condition of the stateless people clarified the catastrophe of the nation state model and the failure of human rights. When the nation system was created, the people in power in Europe separated the people into 3 major groups which are the state people, the nationalities like the Slovaks in Czechoslovakia, and the minorities like the Germans, being the strongest officially economically and in number. The Minority Treaties were created by the League of Nations to seek security to the minority groups in the new states. The real significance of the Minority Treaties (pg.274) was that currently millions of people were known by the international law since by the nation states, they have the power to strip down the citizens of that state by banishment or other worse factors. Stuart Greif (2011), vice president and general manager of the global travel and hospitality practice at J.D. Power and Associates said that as the industry continues to recover and rates increase, hoteliers need to get back to the fundamentals and improve the overall guest experience. Charging guests more and providing less is not a winning combination from a guest satisfaction perspective, much less a winning business strategy. In short, hoteliers are falling further behind and need to catch up. • 6. The Importance Of Literacy Pedagogies Literacy pedagogies have a developing and complex history in education, intertwined with social and cultural change and evolution. Each change has paved a new path for more significant approaches and strategies, which cater to diverse learners allowing them to create meaning and communicate more effectively. These literacy pedagogies brought out by the changes in education have both strengths and weaknesses. As such, educators need to explore and understand the four knowledge processes portrayed by Kalantzis, Cope, Chan and Dalley Trim; didactic, authentic, functional, and critical literacy approach (2016), to be able to consider how they can influence teaching and learning so they are able to make informed decisions with regards to their students literacy learning. Teaching is becoming increasingly complex; this is particularly evident in the area of literacy. This paper will explore the four literacy pedagogies, their limitations and their strengths, and how they have impacted literacy learning within the Australian educational context. During the 19th century, didactic literacy pedagogy was the first pedagogy to become prominent subsequent to the mass obligatory, institutionalised education (Kalantzis et al., 2016, p.84). This approach was widely seen during the Victorian era where education was seen to be teacher centered; according to Watkins (1999), this approach can also be seen in Australian education during the 1970s and 1980s. During this time this pedagogy was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Liberalism, Civic Reformism and Democracy Essay Liberalism, Civic Reformism and Democracy This paper argues that liberalism provides democracy with the experience of civic reformism. Without it, democracy loses any tie argumentative or practical to a coherent design of public policy endeavoring to provide the resources for the realization of democratic citizenship. The case for liberalism rests on an argumentative reconstruction of the function it performs before the rise of a world economic order and, more specifically, in the creation of the welfare state after the Second World War. Accordingly, liberalism defines a reformist political program: it is an emancipatory political project by virtue of its struggle for an egalitarian and universalist extension of citizenship rights. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For its later history, liberalism owes as much to its antecedents (situated at the rise of parliamentary assemblies and of the rule of law in the Middle Ages), as to its linkages with the republican tradition of communal self government (from the seventeenth century onwards), and with the socialist tradition in support for an egalitarian model of society (as from the eighteenth century). Indeed, it is this double tie what determines that the political history of liberalism belongs to the history of modern democracy: a representative democracy but, thereby, pluralist. The tie also explains that the economic history of liberalism cannot be separated from the birth of the welfare state. In both respects liberalism defines a reformist political program: it is an emancipatory political project by virtue of its struggle for an egalitarian and universalist extension of citizenship rights. This is but a formulation of the modern idea of citizenship, conceived of as a universalizable contract of rights. At the same time, liberalism embraces a socio economic emancipatory project that endeavors to provide the conditions, within the institutional frame of modern societies, for the accomplishment of citizenship rights. Let us comment on this double characterization. Liberal Citizenship: A Universalizable Contract of Rights Firstly, if citizenship denotes the membership statute of individuals and social groups belonging to a political community (namely, a ... • 10. Mainstream Schooling Is Culturally Bound In this essay I will address the ways in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, and why this is a problem for those who have disabilities. Mainstream schools can be determined as a school of traditional education or a normal school (Spielgaben, 2015). This categorises mainstream schools within New Zealand as schools of English medium that follow the New Zealand Curriculum and are state schools. These English medium schools work with the National Standards system which set specific expectations for students to have met in the key learning areas of reading, writing and mathematics (Ministry of Education, 2012). This system is just one of the ways in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound. The Oxford Dictionaries (2015) defines culturally bound as restricted in character or outlook by belonging or referring to a particular culture. Due to these schools following particular systems it makes it difficult to cater to the different groups that attend these schools. The second way in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, that I will address, is that most often teachers in these schools do not have the time, resources or skills to teach the diversity of disabilities due to a stronger focus of teaching by the curriculum. This results in more efforts needing to be made to support those with disabilities. I will focus on the common disabilities and special needs in the context of students in mainstream schools, such hearing impairments, physical and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Simon s appearance seemed to resemble that of Jesus Christ s. Simon picked fruit from the tree to feed the littluns. He also practiced deep meditation away from the other children. Simon received messages from the Lord of The Flies while meditating. Simon also tried to illuminate the children about the myth of the beast and dies a horrific death at the hands of the people he loved. He received an almost angelic burial. His death marks the completion of the destruction of the island s civilization. All of these events allude to Jesus s life events, according to the scriptures in the Bible. • 12. Theme Of Fire In The Road Light. Warmth. Danger. Destruction. Divinity. Survival. Love. Hope. In McCarthy s The Road, fire is a symbol of many things and not only those mentioned. Throughout the novel we are told that the father and the son are the good guys because they are carrying the fire (pp. 87, 136 ). It is mainly the son the one who has the fire inside him, but we do not really realize what it makes reference to. Nonetheless, in this paper I will try to give a broad compilation of the symbols that we can attach to this element within Cormac McCarthy s novel, The Road. Fire might be a double edged sword. To begin with, it is fire which has brought the world to that situation, for everything around the father and the son is completely burnt and they are making their way through ashes. Here we see fire as an unpredictable and destructive force. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree with Rambo when she states that We re carrying the fire is a statement of mission. [...] the father has given their journey purpose (2008:104). At the end of the novel, when the father is about to die, he says to his son that he cannot stay with him because he has to carry the fire he has inside him (298) that is his mission; he is the most necessary element in a world where necessity is all around. Therefore this makes me question whether carrying the fire is only an illusion the father has created, an excuse to keep on walking and forgetting what they are leaving behind. As we are going to see next, the boy is the man s last hope. The man is only living in order to save his son s life and if the man dies, nothing will remain for the boy to continue fighting, thus the man has to give him a purpose, a mission to keep on carrying the fire. • 14. The Auteur Theory By Francois Truffaut The auteur theory first began in the 1950s by a group of young French scholars who wrote for the journal Cahiers du Cinema. Most significant of these scholars was Francois Truffaut who wrote an article that served as the touchstone for auteurism. The auteur principle is used as a descriptive method that focuses not on whether a director is a great director but rather on the fundamental composition of a director s work. This principle therefore focuses on a director s thematic and stylistic uniformity, established filming method, personal artistic vision, recurring themes and most significantly his control over a film s production. Auteur films are distinctive due to the unique artistic vision of its director and the fact that it imbues his personality. The auteur term is consequently used to distinguish directors whose works are distinguishable from others. It is important to note that not all directors can be auteurs. Only certain directors were able to express their personality through their works with the use of themes and style and would therefore to continuously produce the same types of stories. Looking at all of a director s work was the only way to identify their individuality and to be able to place their mark on a film suggested the strength of the director as an artist. The style and overall form is the primary concern of an auteur film, not the content. The best directors were able to do this so skillfully that their talents allowed them to artistically reshape ... • 15. The End of the World Essay The End of the World In writing definitively about American films of the nineteen fifties, Douglas Brode refers to the societal hysteria resulting from fear of both the communist threat and the possibility of nuclear war. Accompanying this general state of mind was the emergence of the science fiction film as a major genre. Titles in the genre dealt with fantasy topics ranging from alien invasion (The Thing, 1951, or Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 1956), to biologial missing links (The Creature from the Black Lagoon, 1954), to the bizarre side effects of nuclear contamination (The Incredible Shrinking Man, 1957), or to actual nuclear war (The World, the Flesh and The Devil, 1959). Strada describes a spectrum of discourses ranging from the extreme right, constituted of the governing elite and the politicians notion of the Pax Atomica, to the extreme left, occupied by the type of panic about the bomb which resulted in some of the more grizzly works of science fiction literature. The other specific positions he addresses are the sugar coated science fiction films (left of centre), the avoidance seeking general public (centre), and the atomic scientists with their varied acceptance of the H bomb as a necessary evil (right of centre). Regardless of one s position along the spectrum, the possibility of nuclear war constituted a daily reality in the life of the average American in the nineteen fifties. Government agencies issued specifications for the household bomb shelter, school children experienced weekly drills teaching them the most effective positions to brace themselves against the physical force of an atomic explosion, and true to form, the cinema presented society with various reflections of face of the nuclear potential or the nuclear threat. In most of the science fiction of the time, a primary concern related to the threat of the end of the world is the belief that humanity, in its bizarre mix of madness and complacency, has created and perfected the means of its own destruction. Argument for Position 1) A disease is not an illness, and the distinction between the two is very important. a) A disease is defined as an unhealthy condition or a condition that affects the functioning of the body. For example, the flu, which causes fever, muscle aches, headache, fatigue, and other similar cold like symptoms. b) On the other hand, an illness is normative; it does not disrupt biological functions. At one time, it was thought that being left handed was a disease, but this would have instead been an illness. c) To name a new disease, you must have evidence that it is what is causing the patient s problems. We judge what is significant and insignificant in terms of health, which is determined by our values (Englehardt 234). b) Our values are relatively constant, and do not change as much as people think. We often say one thing, but one the inside, many do not believe what they are saying. 2) An example of a disease would be masturbation. It causes a multitude of symptoms, and can even cause death. a) Commonly in medicine, several symptoms are grouped together into a disease. One of these examples is masturbation. Some of its symptoms include epilepsy, loss of hearing, and physical changes in the genitalia, and the loss of seminal fluid exaggerates these symptoms, as one ounce of the fluid is equal to forty ounces of blood (Englehardt 236). b) There were treatments for the disease, such as a change in diet, exercise, and acupuncture, among others (245). A span of several years, different governments and tactics (each becoming more and more desperate) working almost in full force to help pursue a patriated constitution. The Road to Patriation, written and directed by Robert Duncan, creates a narrative that discusses the absolute need for a constitution that allowed Canada the right to amend the constitution. It was outrageous this concept of having to bargin for these rights, and then to find that the provincial government could override these aspects (other than those of bilingual and the rights of the individual of course and thank goodness for that), was not one I thought could be this complex! To add to that feeling, seeing the attitude of the film was rather interesting as well mostly because of the humor attached to it. I have always loved political cartoons and too see the ideas behind them directly from the author was impressive. Another humorous aspect was the laughter; I was not expecting any to begin with and to see Trudeau making jokes and to have politics discussed during elaborate lunches with fantastic food it was enlightening and borderline delightful to ... • 20. The Inadequacy Of Free Enterprise The Inadequacy of Free Enterprise The perception that there is a need for government involvement in pensions is in large part due to the fact that private pensions are decreasingly reliable. According to Bonnar (2008), conventional wisdom suggests that private sector defined benefit (DB) pension plans are in the midst of a funding crisis (p. 21). In terms of how this applies to Ontario in particular, it is probably based, Bonnar (2008) argues, on the fact that the largest 100 companies in the Toronto stock exchange saw their median funded ratios reduced from 108 percent by the end of the year 2000 down to 79 percent in 2005. This is despite the fact that contributions made by sponsors increased dramatically during the same period from 4 million dollars in 2000 to 14 million in 2005. This is based on a study looking at the largest 100 companies on the Toronto stock exchange index as determined by market capitalization (Bonnar, 2008, p. 21). Companies that did not offer defined benefit pension plans were excluded from the analysis. Companies in the financial sector were reviewed separately because the financial ratios are so drastically different in that sector of the economy than elsewhere. Robson (2008) supports the idea that private pension funds are not sufficient to meet the retirement needs of Ontarian workers, arguing that By now, however, evidence is overwhelming that the problems afflicting single employer defined benefit plans are not just the result of a series ... However, from the point of view of the citizens, the similarities in their daily lives are numerous, even if some fundamental differences remain. To begin with the most obvious similarity and example: in the USA, as well as in parts of Europe, citizens use a single currency, identical to the currency of their neighboring States. Just as in Europe, in the USA, several decisions remain the responsibility of the states, such as highway code, certain taxes, social welfare, minimum wages, and certain areas of justice. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted during the Russian Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements fought the central Red regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October 1918, the Council of People s Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms registration has been introduced, registration proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison for non Communist possession of a firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red triumph in the Civil War, the firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken, unauthorized possession of a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made unauthorized possession of a firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300 rubles (equal to about four months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Stalin apparently found little need to alternate the weapons control structure he had inherited. This chapter of Lethal Laws summarizes the genocide perpetrated by Stalin from 1929 to 1953, starting with his efforts to collectivize farming by destroying the class of property owning farmers. Altogether, about twenty million people were murdered, worked to death in slave labor camps, or deliberately starved to death by Stalin s government. • 22. Essay about Black Holes If theories of their existence are true, black holes are the most powerful force in the known physical universe. Many people are familiar with the term black hole, but few people actually know anything about them. A black hole forms as a result of a massive star running out of fuel to burn (Chaisson, 193). Once the star is no longer exerting outward force by burning off gases, it begins to collapse under it s own intense, inward gravity (Chaisson, 193). It is like slowly letting the air out of a balloon. Once the star is compacted to a certain size, while it s mass, or weight, remains the same, it s gravity becomes so powerful that nothing can escape it (Hawking, 87). This critical size to weight ratio is known as the Schwarzchild Radius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The simple formula for this, in physics, states that a body s escape velocity is equal to the square root of it s mass, divided by it s radius (Chaisson, 77). For example, if a body s mass is two hundred, and it s size is twelve and one half, the escape velocity would be four. If the size of the same body is reduced to two, while it s mass remained at two hundred, the escape velocity increases to ten. Since a black hole s size is always decreasing and it s weight is always the same, the escape velocity is infinite (Chaisson, 195). This means that nothing can escape a black hole past the event horizon, not even light. Light is made up of waves and particles. It was discovered, in 1676, by Danish astronomer, Ole Christenson, that light travels at a very high, but finite speed (Hawking, 18). These properties of light govern that it must be subject to forces of nature, such as gravity. Light travels at such a high speed that it is not observably effected by gravity, unless that gravity is very strong. A black hole s gravity is powerful enough to trap light because it s escape velocity, being infinite, exceeds the speed of light (Hawking, 82). This is why a black hole is black. Once light crosses the event horizon it is drawn into the hole in space. Although the light is still hitting objects, it is not able to bounce off to indicate their existence to an observer, ... The history of eating utensils goes way back to the first human beings when they started eating with their fingers but over time their eating methods were refined and they started to use spoons, knifes, and forks. Many people were hesitant to make the switch to eating utensils like the English. In the medieval times people used their fingers but as time passed they started to use forks. As the diners enter the hall, they stop by the side table to wash their hands at the basin... it is done in public so that everyone will know his or her neighbors fingers are clean when they reach into a bowl for food (Giblin 15). Only refined people ate with their 3 fingers no more or less was considered uncultured. The word fork comes from the Latin word furca and the Old English word forca, (Bohannon 30.) The origin of the fork mostly points to the ancient Greeks in Greece. Forks were big and two pronged for the carving of meat, according to The History of Eating Utensils. An Englishman named Thomas Coryate brought the first fork to England from Italy, when he stared to show people they ridiculed him and his forks. The project also addresses how knowledge circulates through translation or integration of evidenced base practice. The capstone project provides a foundation for future scholarship and reflects the student s understanding of knowledge and expertise. Furthermore, the capstone project addresses the academic product that reflects the student s involvement (Webb, 2014). According to Campbell Benn (2011) a capstone project includes identifying data as a problem in an actual setting and developing the means to address it. A capstone project can either be research oriented or design oriented. Resolutions of the project are usually collaborative and can result in the implementation and utilization. In Harmon s (1991) article, he details a scene where Sir Winston Churchill is sitting around the strategy table, debating the benefits of area bombing. Area bombing is a tactic where an area is indiscriminately bombed, regardless of military objective. During the meeting Winston stood up and proclaimed, Are we beasts, are we taking this too far (Harmon, 1991, p. 3). LM03, Ethical Leadership, discusses Dr. Toner s three P s, which are principle, purpose, and people (DAF, 2014c, p. 7). To me, Winston Churchill put the three P s in the correct order when he decided to commence area bombings. He put the principle of freedom and justice before the purpose of winning the war and finally, he put the people in their proper place of third. Had he not made this decision, who knows how many more would have died. The air raids killed innocent women and children, but many others today enjoy freedom and liberty because of this decision. The war continued and as the German people became war weary, ended in 1945 due, in part, to Churchill s proper use of the three P s. Making a decision like this takes guts, resolve, and most importantly an ability to see the second and third order effects. Winston Churchill would not have made the decision to area bomb had he not known that its effect on the German people would cause them to lose their will to fight, therefore limiting the endless supply of troops Hitler seemed to be able to acquire. This, to me, is why Course 14 intertwined the critical thinking and ethical leadership modules. On Facione s scoring rubric from CF03, Critical Thinking, I would definitely have given Winston s decision to use area bombing a 4 out of 4 (DAF, 2014b, p. 24). From the nature of the island archetype we can see that C.G Jung created this for insight on a character which probably is a reason why many of today s origin stories model after this archetype. The Odyssey and the TV show Arrow were clearly made in seperate times, and although they have differences, the two stories share similarities, so just look at how the characters develop. Yes they develop at different times, but the way is basicly the same. The two Batman stories really show a difference, we see a major emotional change from a confident playboy millionaire to a angery almost murderer. Finally, we sum this up and see that the island archetype origin story is basically essential to a character s development. An example of a chemical change that one could come into contact with daily is rust. Air and iron are the reactants in this situation while rust is the product. The chemical equation for this reaction would look roughly like this, O+FE= OFE or rust. This is clearly a chemical change because you cannot reverse it meaning you cannot take rust and pull out the iron to leave air or vise versa. All chemical changes are finite. One other example of a chemical change is the burning of any substance. For example if one were to burn a sheet of paper it would create ash. This chemical change is finite because you cannot change ash back into paper. Another term to remember when considering changes chemical and physical is the law of conservation of mass. This law simply means that matter can neither be created nor destroyed. Two other terms that are important when describing the properties of substances undergoing changes are extensive and intensive properties. An intensive property is a physical property of a substance that does not depend upon its size such as viscosity. Extensive properties however do depend on a substance s size such as mass and volume. Critical Summary of Article Employee empowerment has become an important strategic tool used by leaders of the 21st century. According to Ba (2015), a recent change in management style has led to the empowerment of employees in the workplace creating a situation where empowering followers is an assumed responsibility of all leaders and thought to be a motivational tactic. The relationship between leaders and employee has become more strategic than anytime in business due to globalization. Leaders must understand how to use employee empowerment. Ba suggest, a negative view of a leader can hinder performance; therefore, exploring the aspects that guide followers to develop a positive image of their leader establishes desirable outcomes, and can create a positive view of a leader. Employee empowerment is tested to see if it is the key in aligning organizations systems, processes, people, practices, encourages creativity, innovation, problem solving, and problem resolution within a control framework that is beneficial towards many important aspects (Ba). Proprietary estoppel, on the other hand, is a legal bar preventing a (first) party from denying another (second) party s right in first party s property where the second party has incurred costs in that property to its detriment . Proprietary estoppel, like other types of estoppel, is not a remedy in itself but a tool to raise estoppel equity , on the basis of which the court is able to decide on the type of remedy that this equity will satisfy. Similarly to the need for the element of common intention for the purpose of establishing a constructive trust, there is a need for the establishment of an active or passive assurance on the part of the defendant that leads to some form of consequential detriment on the part of the claimant when acting in reliance on that assurance. Thus, there must be a causal connection between the actions undertaken by the claimant and the initial assurance on the part of the defendant. The extent and the nature of the detriment suffered by the claimant, however, appears to be substantially more flexible than that necessary to find the existence of a constructive trust. For example, in Inwards v Baker [1965], such detriment amounted to the improvement of the defendant s land, while in Gillett v Holt [2001] it was manifested in both financial and personal detriment. • 41. Essay on Police Brutality and the Use of Force There are very few careers with as high demands for an ethical standard as law enforcement. Although there are many careers, which require a dedication to doing the right thing, it is undeniable that there is a tremendous degree of responsibility and expectations placed on the police officer. While most professions allow for careful thought and planning, a police officer is often thrust into a situation with little advanced intelligence about what is occurring. Often an officer is involved in a situation which has the potential to turn violent. Relying on training allows the officer to successfully navigate a variety of situations. After a few years on the job, even the rookie police officer is aware that they live and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The application of force is often considered ethically neutral it can, under a variety of circumstances, constitute an abuse of authority. The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) defines the use of force as that amount of effort required by police to compel compliance from an unwilling subject (Police Use of Force in America 2001, n.d, p. 1). The IACP defines the use of excessive force as the application of an amount and/or frequency of force greater than that required to compel compliance from a willing or unwilling subject (Police Use of Force in America 2001, n.d, p. 1). According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (n.d.), in 2005 19% of U.S. residents 16 and over had contact with a police officer. Of these contacts, 9 in 10 felt the police acted properly. During these contacts with approximately 43.5 million persons, an estimated 1.6% had force used against them or threatened to be used (Bureau of Justice Statistics, n.d.). A study by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (as cited in Police Use of Force in America 2001, n.d.) shows that force was used 3.6 times for every 10,000 (police/citizen) encounters this suggests that force was not used in 99% of all cases. Statistical data for excessive force is lacking as there is no standard measure in place. Given these figures it is safe to suggest that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Indigenous Australians Australian aboriginals are a group of people who are deemed to be the indigenous occupants of Australia. The Australian High Court appreciated them to share a common as well as biological ancestry as Australia s original occupants (de Plevitz, Croft, 2003). There has however been a lot of ignorance with reference to this group of people more so from the Australians. This has mostly been due to ignorance of these people with most arguments and opinions based on myths (Morphy, Morphy, 1984, p.459 478). Australia has enjoyed over a century since it gained its Federation status from its colonizers, having joined the Commonwealth in 1901 (Le Roy, Saunders, 2005, pp. 7 9.). Despite this, the status of its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To this end, they came up with further recommendations to enhance the reconciliation process amongst them being to abolish all racial discriminative elements that still existed out of the 1901 constitution. They also recommended that a new Preamble be set forth that would recognize the Aboriginal as well as their fellow native tribes as being the original residents of the State. Their final proposal was directed towards the insurance of enactment of legislation that would enshrine processes that would forge forth means of uniting the entire state of Australia by way of agreement or treaty. These treaty or agreement would further ensure the resolving of any issues that detracted reconciliation. All these are clear indications that the Australians failed to relate and know the aboriginal people. Had this been so, there then would have raised no demand for a treaty at the end of reconciliation. The demand has thus made the establishment as well as the operations of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation more or less an irony. This is due to the fact that the same had been in place as a political response to the failed attempts to come up with a proposal treaty. These attempts and enactment of the council had been predeceased by the Bicentenary of European settlement/invasion that was held in 1988. Such lack of recognition has also been reflected by the ignorance and or deliberate attempts to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Abortion, Right, Public Policy, And Constitutional Law Essay Abortion, Right to Life Abortion raises subtle problems for private conscience, public policy, and constitutional law. Most of these problems are essentially philosophical, requiring a degree of clarity about basic concepts that is seldom achieved in legislative debates and letters to newspapers (Feinberg 1984: 1). Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Abortion is a reality for many women in the Philippines, but many consider it taboo. The Catholic Church regards it as mortal sin because taking another s life is forbidden and life is a precious gift given by God. Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law. John Calvin, a French theologian and pastor during the Protestant Reformation, states that : The fetus, though enclosed in the womb of its mother, is already a human being, and it is a most monstrous crime to rob it of the life, which it has not yet begun to enjoy. If it seems more horrible to kill a man in his own house than in a field, because a man s house is his place of most secure refuge, it ought surely to be deemed more atrocious to destroy a fetus in the womb before it has come to light. (Calvin, 1984) Many women resort to abortion because they think that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It tells a story of leaves and flowers dying, and about children growing up, but the reason he wrote the poem is to tell the story of the world ending. The poem also talks about Robert s political views, in a way. He s saying that he does believe the world is going to end. The title of the poem is Nothing Gold Can Stay. It conveys multiple meanings. Such as Spring, or children growing up, or the world is going to end. There is no repeating words in the poem, however Robert Frost does use an AA BB AA BB pattern for his rhymes. In the poem, a few months pass. It talks about the birth of spring and the ending of it. But if you look at it from the children growing up perspective, then around 18 years pass. However if you look at Nothing Gold Can Stay as a poem about the end of the world, than 9,500 years passes. He says So Eden sank to grief in the Bible the Garden of Eden was created in the beginning, and man was kicked out, so Eden sank to grief. Now, the world is ending and 9,500 years have passed, assuming he believes in a young Earth. There are no human characters in the poem, there are only leaves, flowers, and the Earth. Eden and Nature are also characters. Robert Frost doesn t leave out any details. He only uses his words in a way to convey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Development of the Industrial Sector: Issues and Challenges ❖ The performance of the small and cottage industry sector calls for special attention because of its labour intensive character, its focus on catering to the demand of low and medium income consumers and its capacity for import substitution. Amongst the small scale industries, production of electric apparatus, plastic toys, miscellaneous metal wears, tin plate and readymade wear has registered robust performance in recent years. To be sure, this sub sector has also been particularly vulnerable to natural disasters and other production snags compared to medium and large scale industries.

  • 47. My Book Retell I Have Chosen The Hobbit By J.k. R. Tolkien For My book retell I have chosen The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It takes place in the fictional land of Middle Earth, where Elves and dwarves roamed the lands and much darker creatures too, such as Trolls and Goblins. Our tale starts off like this. In a hole in the ground, there lives a Hobbit . Hobbits are a simple folk who rarely wander beyond their little town of Baggend. They are no taller than a human child, but they eat like giants. They love eating so much, they have seven meals a day. Breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper. They have a mop of curly hair on there head and big furry feet. That brings us to the main protagonist, Bilbo Baggins. Throughout the story he is accompanied by Thirteen dwarves, lead by Thorin Oakenshield, and the wizard, Gandalf the Grey. There are many antagonists in this story including goblins, trolls, elves, and even humans, but the main conflict is with Smaug, the fire breathing dragon, who has stolen Thorin s kingdom. Hobbits in Baggend rarely have anything close to an adventure, since they would have to leave the comfort of their warm hobbit hole. Bilbo Baggins, never in his wildest dreams, would find himself hunting dragons next to dwarves and wizards. However, one day, while he was smoking his pipe of tobacco, he heard a knock on his gate. It was Gandalf. He wondered if Bilbo wanted to take part in an adventure. Bilbo quickly urged the wizard away saying he wanted nothing to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Robert Louis Stevenson Moral Obligation For Stevenson moral disagreement is basically a disagreement in attitudes but often this disagreement includes a disagreement in beliefs. Disagreements in beliefs can be solved with knowledge and referring to empirical evidence but that is not the case for disagreements in attitudes. Such a disagreements persists as long as any of the parties retains an attitude that is contrary to the other. In my opinion saying that expressivism basically claims that ethical statements express just exclamative and imperative sentences like Hurra! or Be kind , is not a fair description of it. Dreier intend to show that Stevenson s thesis, expressivism, fail to give an accurate account of disagreement because they basically repeat the contextualist s fault. In my opinion Dreier s argument does not succeed and it mixed what seems to be an ambiguity of linguistics with an ambiguity of the mental states. A reconsidered version of Gibbard s hyperplan could be used to solve the problem. Realists consider that moral claims do report facts and that their truth or falsehood, at least in some cases, can be determined. Anti realists like Stevenson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The questions discussed above lead, in my opinion, to the capital question of the purpose of moral. I consider that Stevenson s main contribution with the inclusion of attitudes is to facilitate the understanding of the aim of morality. Contrasting attitudes cannot be solved until one party accept the other s attitude. The implication of this is clear, moral disagreement tends to create common attitudes about certain aspects of the world, e.g. stealing or murder. It is not the case of to establish the truth or falsehood of certain moral claims. It is a question of establishing in common attitudes. This in common attitudes became a moral norm in the group or society. If this is true an interaction between individuals, directly or indirectly, is a necessary condition for moral ... • 49. Memories And Surmoring In Margaret Atwood s Surfacing In Margaret Atwood s novel Surfacing, memories and forgetting are large themes, which show that memories are what truly define a person and are exceedingly important to the healing process. One way in which memories are prevalent throughout the novel is in the narrator s flashbacks to her supposed husband. These flashbacks show how the narrator has created fabricated memories, and she experiences suffering and frustration from this, showing how the narrator does not feel whole as a person without the true memories of her past. When the narrator finally does remember all that has happened to her, she realizes that she needs to deal with these memories in order to achieve healing. In the beginning of Surfacing, the narrator remembers very few actual true memories, and has created an almost completely fabricated story of her past in order to deal with what really happened. She is running from her past in the form of fabricated memories. However, she is clearly having immense distress about this, and the tone in the beginning of the novel is one of dread and confusion, aligning with how she doesn t know the truth of her past at this time but has an inkling that something is wrong. One passage that showcases these things is near the beginning of the novel, when the Narrator, Anna, David, and Joe are going into the woods to look for the Narrator s father. We begin to climb and my husband catches up with me again, making one of the brief appearances, framed memories he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Working With Reiki One of the main reasons why people become interested in learning is the fact, popularized by practitioners, that working with Reiki helps us make our dreams and goals come true. Yet, rarely anyone says that such manifestation or dreams and goals takes a lot of time and requires even more patience. And, of course, the goals and dreams manifest in accordance with the highest good like everything else when it comes to Reiki. The first thing, the need for patience, is important, because in order to make our dreams come true, we need to heal ourselves, first. And that requires a lot of patient healing work with Reiki, dealing with our own subconscious fears, worries and thinking patterns and healing them. But there are ways, through which Reiki s spiritual force could help us manifest our dreams and goals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This might be true, however, there is little hard evidence to prove this theory. Another theory is that Huna has been created from scratch by Max Freedom Long, a XX century novelist and author, and that Huna s legend has been made up by him entirely. Which theory is correct? Well, to be honest, I do not know. Probably no one knows. But the truth is that it doesn t really matter because Huna works, no matter what do you believe in. Basically, Huna is a form of magick, in which you perform specific practices in order to achieve specific results. When you keep some rules in mind, Huna works all the time. These rules are what we call the basic set of Huna mechanism. To summarize these basics, Huna is all about three minds the lower self, the middle self and the higher self and about the highest good. By understanding these elements, and applying them in your practice, you make Huna work for you. But ignore these elements, and your effort won t bring proper fruits, if it brings any fruits at ...
