The Demon Lover Literary Analysis
In the realms of the World Wars, love is simply expressed through heartfelt words dancing across
the margins of decorative paper. In the short story, The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen, the main
character endures the hardships of retaining mental sanity when facing a past lover returning home
years later. In the same way, the poem Answers to Letters by Tomas Tranströmer explains in first
person point of view the overbearing weight of anxious thoughts arising from timeelapsing. Using
comparable symbols, The Demon Loverand Answers to Letters characters illustrate how unstable
weather patterns and faltering mental stability depict their roles in society, despite the roles of The
Demon Lover revolving around a supernatural force. Enduring the uncontrollable force above, the
weather illustrates the sudden intensities of the plot in The Demon Lover . Mrs. Drover embodies
the perfect illusion of a lovesick puppy , the weather mocking her as bright August sky. The couple
utters their goodbyes in the nearby garden. The emotions run high and promises of returning leave
the young soldier s lips with such devotion. According to author Elizabeth Bowen, the clouds have a
mind of their own: It was dark; they were saying good bye under a tree (348). The weather is
speaking beneath the words on the page, foreshadowing the turmoil that lies ahead. After years of
no contact, the letter arriving at the old London home throws Mrs. Drover off guard. The unaware

Achievements of India in Space Research
ACHIEVEMENTS OF INDIA IN SPACE RESEARCH
(1960 1970)
The Indian space program began establishing itself with the launch of sounding rockets, which was
complimented by India s geographical proximity to the equator. These were launched from the
newly established ThumbaEquatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS)
, built near Thiruvananthapuram in southern Kerala. Initially, American sounding rockets like the
Nike Apache, and French sounding rockets like the Centaure, were fired and used for studying the
upper atmospheric electrojet, which until then had only been studied from ship based sounding
rocket launches in the Pacific Ocean. These were soon followed by British and Russian rockets.
However, since day one, the space program had grand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1993, the time had come for the maiden flight of the PSLV. The first launch was a failure. The
first successful launch took place in 1994, and since then, the PSLV has become the workhorse
launch vehicle placing both remote sensing and communications satellites into orbit, creating the
largest cluster in the world, and providing unique data to Indian industry and agriculture. Continual
performance upgrades have increased the payload capacity of the rocket significantly since then.
By this time, with the launch of the PSLV not far away, it had been decided that work should begin
on the next class of launch vehicles, intended to place larger satellites into geostationary transfer
orbit (GTO), and thus a launcher partly derived from the PSLV design, but featuring large liquid
strap on motors and a cryogenic upper stage motor, was devised the Geostationary Satellite Launch
Vehicle.(2000 )Major achievement which seems to have gone largely unnoticed is ISRO s
successful ground testing of the cryogenic engine on November 15, 2007. This test conducted for
its full flight duration of 720 seconds at the Liquid Propulsion test facility at Mahendragiri, Tamil
Nadu, puts India on the world map of cutting edge rocket propulsion technology. Only five other

Defective Cutaneous Wound Healing
Abstract Wound healing after injury is a vital process. Defective cutaneous wound healing is of
major clinical importance as it may lead to serious complications like necrosis and septicaemia.
Chronic wound inflammation and chronic wound ulcers like pressure ulcers, chronic venous ulcers,
and most commonly diabetic foot ulcers carry a high risk of non traumatic amputation and high
morbidity rate. The available therapeutic trials are not sufficient. Understanding the molecular basis
of wound healing can help in the development of novel therapeutic approaches. A prolonged
inflammatory phase of wound healing is an overriding feature of skin impaired healing wounds.

It has an important role in controlling fluid loss from the body, regulation of body temperature
and protection against microorganisms or other external influences (Nestle et al., 2009). The
skin comprises three distinct histological layers which are: Epidermis, Dermis and the
subcutaneous layer of adipose tissue (Kanitakis, 2002). The epidermis is the external layer of
the skin, mainly composed of keratinized stratified squamous epithelial. Epidermis is made up
of keratinocytes (90%); melanocytes (8%) and the other (2%) represent Langerhans cells,
Merkel cells and immunologically active cells derived from bone marrow (Kolarsick et al.,
2011). Next to the epidermis is the dermis, which is composed of connective tissues (collagen
and elastic fibres), blood vessels, sensory nerve endings, sebaceous glands, sweat glands,
extracellular matrix (ECM), hair follicles and cells like dermal dendritic cells, fibroblasts, mast
cells and macrophages. The dermis provides nutrition and support to the epidermis (Burr and
Penzer, 2005). The last layer that separate the skin from internal parts of the body is called
subcutaneous layer which is primarily composed of adipose tissue that acts to regulate body
temperature in addition to its involvement in sensory and protective functions (James et al., 2006;

Relationship Between Divorce As A Private Problem And How...
A phrase coined by C. Wright Mills, exercising one s Sociological Imagination means to observe
the well defined link between personal problems and public issues in society. While the
sociological imagination can be applied to a multitude of factors, the focus of this paper is to
outline the relationship between divorceas a private problem and how it is reflected into the public
sphere. According to the National Health Statistics Report, nearly half of all first marriages end
in divorce (Casey et al. 2012). As this rate has drastically increased since the mid 20th century,
divorce has begun to create many setbacks for society in terms of the economy, crimes rates,
mental health capacity, and academic achievements. While initially divorce was seen as an issue
for families individually, society as a whole is increasingly subject to facing the repercussions. In
an economic standpoint, divorce has caused thousands of people to sink into poverty stricken
lifestyles. Typically, women are left in worse shape as they are usually given primary custody of
their children and are left to support a household without adequate financial support from the
fathers (Espenshade 1979). As more families are falling into poverty, the dependence on federal
aid, such as the Aid to Families with Dependent Children, increases. In the year 2000, of the 50
percent of divorced families that reached poverty, 40 percent depended on AFDC. In conclusion, as
divorce rates rise, more government

To begin, the creation of a national defence force is a significant reason why Australiafederated.

The Cask Of Amontillado Theme Analysis
The theme for The Cask of Amontillado is that no one provokes someone with impunity. The theme
refers to when Montresor tells Fortunato his family motto, which was nemo me impune lacessit
(Edgar 211). This short story is about revenge, where Fortunato has injured Montresor enough to
make him want to murder Fortunato. Montresor didn t want Fortunato to get away with insulting
him, so he vowed to get revenge. The history behind this story that has to do with Edgar Allan Poe
himself is quite interesting. When Edgar Allan Poe was younger, he was a private at Fort
Independence in 1827. There was an officer that was new and mostly everyone liked him, except
for captain Green who was known to be a bully. On Christmas Eve just a bit before midnight,

Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao And Murasaki
Genji and his love with Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao and Murasaki
Genji is the main character in a Japanese classical work The Tale of Genji , which is considered
the world s first psychological novel written by Japanese novelist Murasaki Shikibu during the
Heian period. Using extended prose narrative, Murasaki Shikibu portrays Genji s romances, usually
tragic, with different women in his life.
Among all the women Genji has a romance with, there are three special women, Fujitsubo Lady,
Yugao and Murasaki, he shows great love to. Fujitsubo Lady, with a high status and resembles
Genji s mother Kiritsubo Lady, is the Emperor s favorite consort. Unlike Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao is a

While getting married to Aoi, an elegant woman with high status, Genji is not satisfied with the
marriage between him and Aoi. In his mind, His wife was her usual self, elegant and correct,
with a guarded air that made him feel awkward (Page118). This awkward feeling made him not
willing to spend extra time with Aoi and impelled him to search for alternative women
especially those who are more submissive and docile. Genji s encounter with Yugao made him
find an ideal woman who is submissive enough. According to Genji, Yugao is extremely
submissive, willing to accept whatever he might do (Page67) and she had clung to him all day
long with a timidity that he found touchingly childish (Page71). He found Yugao is much
different from his current wife Aoi who is always cold him, and her submissiveness and timidity
give Genji a feeling of superiority, which he did not have when he is with Aoi. When Genji
cannot get enough love from his wife Aoi, he as no choice but to go out and search for
alternatives. Given Aoi s proud characteristic and high status, it is extremely hard for Genji to
change the way she behaves and make her submissive in front of him. People cannot deny the
psychological fact that they are more inclined to stay with people they like instead of people they

Changes in Operations are Needed for Future Threats and...
Threats and terrorism will always exist and are constantly evolving. Even after the dreadful 9/11
attacks, terrorists remain diligent at planning attacks against the United States and its allies.
Although not on the same scale as the 9/11 attacks, terrorists have successfully executed plots in
the United States, the United Kingdom and France. For example, on April 15, 2013, an attack at
the Boston Marathon occurred, killing three people and injuring 264 individuals. In the United
Kingdom, on 7 July 2005, the London bombing incidents took place. Fifty two individuals were
killed and 700 were injured. On 7 January 2015, there was a mass shooting at the satirical magazine

The types of threats aimed at the nation are changing as well. Terrorist groups such as IS (also
know as ISIS or ISIL) are still interested in Western recruits because it is easier for them to travel
between countries and they are knowledgeable of western cultures and language. Individuals do not
always come from foreign countries, and are sometimes American or European citizens. The
recruits lineage can come from the country in which the terrorist reside or the recruit may be
impressed or drawn to the ideals and beliefs of another country. Terrorists or transnational criminals
are not limited to members of foreign intelligence agencies, militant groups, or insurgents, but they
now also consist of university students and business executives (Gebhardt, 2004). Some criminals
and terrorist come from well to do families or high status jobs. For example, Umar Farouk
Abdulmutallab also known as the underwear bomber attempted to harm approximately 300
individuals aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253 because he stated that he had been directed by al
Qaeda to do so. Abdulmuttallab was from a wealthy family, had opportunities to study at various
universities, and had the support of his family members; however, he chose to involve himself in
terrorist activities instead of furthering his education or maintaining a peaceful lifestyle. American

Setting In The Bridegroom, By Nadine Gordimer
The settings within short stories often function to define characters and their relationships with
others. The setting in Nadine Gordimer s The Bridegroom is used to define and tell the reader
about the characters and the relationships in the short story. This essay will serve to prove how
this is achieved by first examining how the setting is used to define the character of the
bridegroom. Thereafter, the way in which the setting tells the reader about the bridegroom s
relationship with his bride will be discussed. The relationship between the bridegroom and the bride
s family and the conveyance of this relationship through the setting will then be explored. The way
in which physical space conveys the relationship between the bridegroom... Show more content on

Throughout the short story, Piet crosses over the distance between the two camps numerous times,
moving back and forth between (Gordimer 73) them. The fact that Piet moves from one camp to
the other with ease suggests that the relationship between him and the bridegroom is more relaxed
and amiable than that between the bridegroom and the other workers. It also indicates the fact that
Piet has relationships with both the bridegroom and the black workers. Piet is therefore not as
strictly confined to one camp as the other workers are. In this way, setting is used to tell the reader
about the personal relationship between Piet and the bridegroom and Piet s ability to have
relationships with the road workers simultaneously.
The author makes effective use of setting to tell the reader about the characters and relationships
found in The Bridegroom . Setting is used to convey the bridegroom s precise and orderly
character, as well as his isolated existence. His relationships with both his bride and her family are
also expressed through the use of setting. Finally, the setting of the bridegroom s camp and that of
the road workers also serves to tell us about the relationships in the camp. Setting is a highly useful
tool in conveying characterisation and interaction between

Sarasota County Real Estate Case Study

rezoning from Open Use Rural, 1 unit/10 acres (OUR) to Residential Estate, 1 unit/2acres with a

embracing the natural systems for the subject property.

Food Guide Pyramid And Mypyramid
In June 2011, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and The Center for Nutrition
Policy and Promotion (CNPP) launched the MyPlate icon, a simple, yet powerful, visual cue to
prompt consumers to think about their food choices across food groups and to build a healthy
plate at meal times (Levine et al., 2012). MyPlate like its predecessors, the Food Guide Pyramid
and MyPyramid follow the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), which includes
communication tools and materials to assist with choosing healthy food options. In addition, the
MyPlate Web site encompasses the SuperTracker tool to personalize food plans, consumer
educational materials and e tools, social media engagement, and a partnership initiative to help
coordinate and disseminate consistent messages of the DGA (Levine et al., 2012). Research shows
that seventy two percent of individuals responsible for the purchasing and preparing of food for the
entire household have a strong influence over meal consumption. Therefore, by targeting those
individuals who purchase and prepare most of the food, the communication strategy for MyPlate
can be best employed for all users. However, since the launch of MyPlate the African American

What Has Changed World History
What has changed world history the most? Agriculture, the ancient Greeks, social inequality? None
of these come close to the thing that has changed human history the most. Humans drove
Neanderthals to their extinction, which contributed to the rise of human hegemony. Anything that
has happened in human history was allowed to happen because of Neanderthalextinction. Humans
have been around since about 200,000 years ago, and so have Neanderthals. But, humans were
made differently than Neanderthals. Each specieshad specific differences and similarities. But had it
not been for Neanderthals extinction, the world would be nothing how it is today. Neanderthals
were pushed to extinction which allowed humans to thrive and conquer the world through a
combination of Neanderthal and humandifferences, climate changes, and the unlikely team up
between humans and dogs. We first need to know what is a Neanderthal, to truly see why
Neanderthals went extinct. Neanderthals come from the Homo branch of life, which includes
humans, homo sapiens. Neanderthals were similar and yet very different from humans.
Paleoanthropologists prefer to think of Neanderthals as a completely different species than humans,
they classify Neanderthals as homo neanderthalis. According to Pat Shipman, the definition of
species is, A species is generally defined as a biological population within which there is

Fate Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Fate in Romeo and Juliet In modern times, and in the Elizabethan era, fate plays an important
role in people s lives. Many people believe it to be written in stone, and unchangeable. Many
others believe it to be controlled by a person s own actions. In Romeo and Juliet, fate is one of
the main themes, described as having power over many of the events in the play. Fate is often
called upon, wondered about, and blamed for mishaps. However, where fate is blamed in the
play as the ultimate cause for a mishap, there is always an underlying action, or combination of
them, on the part of human beings that decides the consequences. Human weakness, the loss of
self control, is always the direct cause of a bad choice or mishap, and not fate itself. One of the
most noted instances where fate is blamed for a mishap is when Romeo cries out the he
supposedly is fortune s fool. He claims that fate has brought on Mercutio s death, and has lead
him to kill Tybalt in revenge. In Act 3, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is seen to be upset
at Mercutio s death and predicts that the days black fate on more days doth depend. (III, I, 118)
Tybalt then re enters and Romeo becomes more upset that Tybalt is triumphant with Mercutio
being dead (III, I, 121). As Romeo becomes overwhelmed with Mercutio s death and Tybalt s joy
over it, he suddenly declares that either he or Tybalt must die with Mercutio (III, I, 128).

Tiger Woods And Its Effect On Golf
Golf. A sport that was dull and mundane twenty years ago, evolved when Tiger Woods came to
the scene. I started golfing during high school and loved it for the single fact, Tiger Woods
played it. Growing up I pictured golf as that once boring sport played by old white men lacking a
fan base. Just like myself, many people hated the idea of watching golf, so the sport needed a
change. Tour earnings were low, scoring was average, and young people did not want to pick up
the sport. Tiger Woodscame on the tour in 1997 and astronomically changed the view of golf. The
Tiger Effect on golf is real and more people have been trying to work harder to get to that Tiger
bench mark. He single handily brought golf to the limelight and made it interesting to watch this

Example Of A Femme Fatale
A femme fatale, a French term for fatal woman (Schimkowitz, 2014), is a strong willed,
manipulative woman who is as alluring as she is dangerous. She is an irresistibly attractive woman
who leads a man into difficult and dangerous situations with her seductive charms (Blakely, 2014).
They used to be physically characterized as fierce sexing looking women with sharp eyeliners. This
female archetype has been in existence since ancient times all around the world.
The first example of a femme fatale in this paper is Veda Pierce (Ann Blyth) in Mildred Pierce,
which was released in 1945, when many American soldiers returned from World War II. During
the WWII period, women were the main providers for their families while American men were
at war, which led to increase independent American women. Mildred Pierce, the mother of Veda,
is one of the strong women who is working hard to support herself and her children. In contrast to
her mother s effort, Veda takes advantage of her mother s kindness and money. She also betrays
her by having an affair with Monte Beragon, who is already married to her mother. Veda has the
looks and knows how to use her looks to attract men. And she is so ambitious that she does
anything in order to get the most important thing to her which is money to live the high class life.
Ultimately, a femme fatale leads the male into ruin. Veda fulfills this characteristic of the femme
fatale by shooting Monte to death when he denies that he is going to marry her.

Colloquially referred to as the Great White North as a result of its large land area, its areas of

Legal System
Both English and French legal traditions had an impact in the development of Canada s legal

However, only in the province of Quebec does civil law supercede common law (Government of

Parliament is responsible for debating and deciding which proposed laws to approve and which

The process for changing or creating a law is as follows: Senior government officials draft a law

Sacred Heart Cathedral Essay
The Sacred Heart Cathedral is of the Roman Catholic religion. The Roman Catholic church was
created when the Eastern and Western churches divided in 1054, with the Roman Catholic church
coming from the Western church (Matlins). Coming from a Methodist background, I found Roman
Catholicism interesting because out of the various Christian denominations Roman Catholicism
appeared to differ the greatest from the Protestant and Orthodox sectors of Christianity(Brodd). It is
intriguing that one religion can have various practices and ways of worship. After and during MassI
was able to compare the Methodist religion and Roman Catholic religion to each other. Through
formulating questions and expectations, observation, listening, and taking in... Show more content

As I entered the cathedral the first observation I made was that the congregation was wearing
various clothing. Some individuals were dressed in formal attire, which I was expecting, but
others were dressed in shorts, T shirts, and sneakers. This was surprising to me because I had
thought that attending Mass was a formal occasion. There were greeters at the entrance of the
Cathedral making everyone feel welcomed and passing out bulletins. I was amazed by the
intricacy of the inside of the cathedral! The ceiling of the cathedral reminded me of the ceiling of
the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo. Before the service started, I awed at the ceiling and the
stained glass windows. The stained glass windows were vibrant in color and intricate in design.
Throughout the cathedral there were statues of various important Christian figures. I assumed that
the statues were either of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, various saints, or individuals from the Old
Testament because Matlins and Magida discuss how these statues are prominent in Roman
Catholic cathedrals (Matlins). I know for a fact that one of the statues was indeed Jesus because it
was a statue of him hanging on the cross. Like my church, there were pews for the congregation to
sit in; however, what was different was that there were benches for the congregation to kneel on.
According to Matlin and Magida, these benches are

Evaluation Of A Student Outcomes
Part two: Summary of student outcomes
The evaluation of the students work was conducted with the end of year exams in mind. In
particular, I wanted to provide feedback and forward to the students that was targeted towards their
essay writing in the exams at the end of the year. I grouped results from what grades the students
gained against the marking schedule that I developed. Bearing in mind that the sample size was
small, most students attained the merit grade, with the same amount of students being either side of
the merit grade with three respectively. This indicates that the work that is being achieved is at an
above average level, highlighted by no one failing the assessment. The evidence also suggests that
the students are on the way to excellence. With the feed forward being provided there should be a
number of those students who should be attaining excellences in that class at the end of year mock
exams.
In terms of the specific feedback forward itself. There were common trends that came through for
each grade. Figure two, outlines some common themes that came across for each student attaining
those grades. For the achieved level the, students were identifying the causes and consequences.
The feedforward for those students is that if they want to attain merits and excellences they need to
be giving more specific detail to accompany their causes and consequences. What that indicates is
that I need to provide to those students a wider range of examples to allow

How Is Thor Related To Norse Mythology
The legend of Thor is a bit different than what is portrayed in Marvel s movie Thor. Thor was a

How The Staining Of The Centromere Sequences Using Fish
How the staining of the centromere sequences using FISH can be used to determine the sex of
metaphase chromosomes and how immunostaining of the synaptomenal complex of meiotic cells
can show the stages involved in prophase.
Abstract
Fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) and immunostaining are both processes that allow for
specific features within a chromosome to be observed. FISH is when a DNA probe that is
fluorescently tagged complementary binds to a specific sequence in the chromosome, in this case,
the sex chromosome centromeres. Immunostaining is the process where a primary antibody
specifically binds to a protein of interest, then a fluorescently tagged secondary antibody
complementary binds to the primary antibody, thus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because X chromosomes display a red signal, whereas the Y chromosome presents a green
signal. Therefore, since females have two X chromosomes and males have a single X and Y
chromosome, the sex of the cell donor can be identified (Moers et al 1995).
Meiosis is a form of cell division that halves the amount of chromosomes in sexually reproducing
organisms (Bernstein et al 2011) to form gametes. In meiotic cell division, DNA replication is
followed by two rounds of cell division to create four daughter cells, each with half the amount
of chromosomes as the parent. Meiosis is split into two round called Meiosis I and Meiosis II
and each round of meiosis is made up of four stages called prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and
telophase. The longest, most complex stage of meiosis is Prophase I as it is split into 5 phases
called lepotene, zygotene, pachytene, diplotene, and diakinesis (Tworzydlo et al 2016). In these
stages of prophase, chromosome pairing, synaptomenal complex formation, and recombination
occur. The formation of the synaptomenal complex allows for the chromosomes to know if they
have successfully paired. This complex can be stained by SPC3 as it binds to the lateral elements of
the synaptomenal complex. In this practical, immunostaining process allows for it to be confirmed
which proteins are associated with the meiotic chromosomes. This immunostaining process

Food Waste In Food
There is a lot of food waste going on around us. Most of it goes to waste right under our noses
from super markets and farms. In this paper I will go over how much the USA (United States of
America) waste in food vs how much the UK (United Kingdom) wastes, how we can fix our waste
habits, the impact on us/ cost of the waste, and how to make people aware of the waste that is going
on. The UK wastes a total of 14.3 million tons of foodper year (Yeung) which makes you wonder
how much does the USA waste? We know that Europe wastes a lot of food but how much does
the USA waste? Well the USA waste about 60 million tons per year (Chandler) Now that is equal
to about 165 billion dollars per year (Reuters) and that s a lot of money to waste on food when
we can use it for other things. But with the UK wasting almost a fourth of what the USA is
wasting which is sad because in Europe the UK is the highest country to waste food (Yeung).
So, the USA waste 4 times that of the UK which is a lot of food and that food ends up in garbage
dumps where it will rot or get eaten by scavengers. The only positive to that is that we are
feeding wild animals that are smart enough to get into a garbage dump. Now why does this food
get put into dumps? Well its simple and that is its reaching the best by date or looks unappealing
to display. The USA needs to reduce the amount of food it is wasting because that food is putting a
negative effect on the environment and is taking up space. Now there

Germ Theory Of Disease By Robert Koch And Louis Pasteur
Introduction
In the nineteenth century, two famous scientists Robert Koch and Louis Pasteur formally
demonstrated that microorganisms were the cause of many diseases. This proposition has become
known as Germ Theory of Disease . Not that this notion had never been touched before on the
contrary, there have been ancient mentions as old as 36 BC from a roman scholar, Marcus
Terentius Varro, that stated: certain minute creatures, which cannot be seen by the eyes, which float
in the air and enter the body through the mouth and nose, and there cause serious diseases . The
concept of Germ Theory of Disease suffered a major overturn in the twentieth century, when
Metchnikoff showed that microorganisms could also act as beneficial agents and health promoters.
Was there then launched the basis for what we now call probiotics. Thus, today we know we are,
one way or the other, vastly colonized by microorganisms. It is certainly clear that these
microorganisms are present forming heterogeneous and specific communities over large body
surfaces. These colonization processes occur primarily on skin, vagina and the gastrointestinal tract.
Even so, our body has a remarkable ability to protect itself against microbial invasions. Within the
human body resides a salient protection mechanism called immune system prepared to defend the
body against millions of bacteria, viruses, toxins and parasites. However, how does the immune
system enable the body to accept a vast amount of

(Amezdroz, 2010) Passing and catching is an essential part of being a middle, whether it is
receiving from the dummy half or passing out to a wing; these movements require limbs to move in
the right direction and at the right speed to be preformed effectively. Energy System Requirements
A game of touch requires the use of all energy systems at once but in varied amounts. The body will
automatically choose which energy system it requires the most based on the fitness components
used. It has been identified above that the three main components used by a middle are; Aerobic
capacity, muscular endurance and coordination. In figure 12.5 it shows the relationship between
components of fitness and energy systems. Both aerobic capacity and muscular endurance relate to
the Aerobic system. The aerobic system uses oxygen and is generally one of low mid intensity and

production at an almost equal rate. 2.3 Wing Position Requirements The wings are the two

Art Is A Form Of Art
What do you love to do? Maybe you love art, maybe you love acting, or maybe you love sports.
Now, imagine, whatever it is you love to do, you are the best at that. So, if you love sports, you

nobody appreciates you. Imagine yourself as a sports star, and you are the strongest, fastest,
quickest athlete in history but no one knows your name. Instead, they focus on someone else
who takes performances inhancers to help himself compete and even after the performance
inhancers, he is still not as good as you. Still, everybody loves him and thinks he is amazing,
while everybody does not even know who you are. How would you feel? Maybe you would feel
unappreciated. You might feel underrated and you may feel like you have been done wrong.
Well, what if I told you, there is a form of art where we do not show glory to the the best, instead
we give it to others who some would say are undeserving.
The form of art I am talking about is music. Well, why do I say that people give glory to ones who
are less deserving? To make my point, think about this illustration. Take another form of art,
painting. Imagine a famous artist is considered one of the best painters of all time. If you knew

would you still call them the greatest painter of all time. No! Why not? They are not doing most of

Essay on Conscience of Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare s...
The Conscience of the Queen William Shakespeare s play Hamlet is perhaps one of his most
intriguing and scandalous pieces of work. One character who is liable for much of this excitement
and outrage is Hamlet s mother, Queen Gertrude. To some readers and critics, Gertrude is
conceived as an erratic, superficial and sensual woman. Others discern the Queen as an earnest,
intellectual and sagacious woman whose tragic fault is her yearning for sexual satisfaction.
Throughout the text, there are several legitimate arguments for both sides, but in the end, Hamlet
seems to sum up the Queen s true persona with the words Frailty, thy name is woman . Evidence of
Gertrudes true nature can be found in many instances through out the play such... Show more

Hamlet s conflict with Gertrude is a main part of this play. A few characters in this play give
insight on Gertrude that point in the direction of her being shallow and evil. One example is late
in the first act when Hamlet cries O most pernicious woman! O villain, villain, smiling, dammed
villain! This is when, deep in thought, Hamlet realizes that his mother could have possibly
taken part in his father s death and he thinks she s evil. In Hamlet s head, everything makes sense
now because it is now understandable how she got over the death so quickly. This is the first
time that Hamlet realizes his mother s true character. This is a very imperative notion about
Gertrude s personality because for her very own son to think a validation like this is extreme.
Often times a man will love and defend his mother until the day he dies, while Hamlet, on the
other hand, is thinking of her playing a role in his father s death. When the ghost speaks of
Gertrude s speedy marriage, it provides more evidence of her shallowness. The King s ghost says
that she is seeming virtuous . He is basically saying that while she looks holy and righteous, she isn

The Searchers Narrative Structure Essay
From Boy to Man: The Searchers Through the Eyes of Martin Pawley
The narrative structure of John Ford s The Searchers is centered primarily around the actions and
knowledge of men. Throughout the movie, men are the figures of action, they are out scouring
the land for lost loved ones while the women stay home and wait with hope. In The Searchers, just
as with any search, the limiting factor involved is knowledge. Ethan, the main character, begins
the movie as the leader of the searchers. His assumed role as leader is due to his past excursions
as a Texas Ranger. These past experiences enable Ethan to lead most effectively because they

After the first battle with the Native Americans, the crew is broken up due to Clayton taking a
wounded man home. Ethan is prepared to drive on by himself, fueled by his racism, but Brad and
Marty show their true colors and bravery, stepping up to accompany Ethan. Marty s willingness to
risk his life to avenge his family s death signifies his transition to manhood. It also portrays the
morals and ideals of 19th century western America. Although Marty is part Cherokee, he portrays
the very American value of fighting in the name of what you believe in and what you love:
freedom and family. John Ford uses Marty s Native American heritage along with his strong morals
to contrastthe foundation of Ethan s racism, thus undermining racism in general. In the film, Ethan
first appears as a strong American soldier while Marty is tainted with Indian blood. Upon further
evaluation, it is clear that Ethan is a lost soul with no true friends or loving family. Ford uses
Ethan s status as a social outcast to exemplify that being driven by racism leads to a lonely,
unfulfilling life.
Marty s relationship with Laurie proves to be important in the development of Marty s character. It
gives Ford a medium to present Marty as the narrator. Ford uses letters from Marty to Laurie as a
means of fast forwarding through the years of the hunt while still keeping the viewer updated on
Marty and Ethan s progress. After this point, in addition to more letters to

The World s Wife By. Duffy
As suggested by the title of the anthology, Duffy s poems within The World s Wife place the
focus on women in an inherently patriarchal and male dominated world. This is also true of Mrs
Beast , in which Duffy reimagines the traditional fairy tale of The Beauty and the Beast to give
Mrs Beast dominance over her husband, as well as financial and emotional independence. The
opening lines of Mrs Beast set the tone for the rest of the poem, linking all of the characters
mentioned throughout The World s Wife , as well as listing many other women with stories that
would fit the themes of the sequence due to their exploitation by men. This acts as a warning to
men from Mrs Beast, who sees these women in herself, commenting: so when you... Show more

This inversion of the traditional roles in a fairytale is also present throughout the rest of the
stanza, as Mrs Beast describes herself as no longer a girl, knowing my own mind, / my own gold
stashed in the bank, / my own black horse at the gates , demonstrating that she is able to take
care of herself with no need for help. Moreover, her financial and emotional independence is
highlighted by the anaphora of my own , with repetition similar to this used by Duffy throughout
The World s Wife , particularly in Little Red Cap . However, the effect of the use of anaphora in
Mrs Beast contrasts with its effect in Little Red Cap at the beginning of the sequence, which
describes a girl progressing from innocence and naivety at childhood s end to saving herself and
becoming independent ten years later. Despite these differences, both poems similarly
reimagine fairytales, with Mrs Beast being what Little Red Cap could grow up to become with
her new found independence, as Mrs Beast demonstrates her ability to take care of herself and
be carried off at one wrong word, / one false move, one dirty look . In juxtaposition with this, the
Beast is presented as submissive and similar to a slave rather than as the traditional handsome
and arrogant prince of fairytales. He is treated and described as an animal instead of a person,
falling to his knees at the door for Mrs Beast and kiss(ing) her glove with his mongrel lips ,

Mackie s Theory Of Moral Skepticism
Moral skepticism is defined as the denial of objective moral standards is correct, and that morality
therefore lacks any real authority (Shafer Landau). The concept of objectivity plays a part in the
theory of moral standards. Objectivity is used in the sense that a subject exists without its
perception, and that one can come to the same conclusion as everyone else given the same sources
/information. An object is in existence despite of any opinions or matters, which is why this
principle is closely associated with being reality and truth. Philosopher Mackie has a specific
opinion on the ethical theory called subjectivism or moral skepticism that discusses the falsehood of
moral claims. Mackie developed the principle of subjectivism, which states that morals claims do

Relativity is used to discuss that moral codes are diverse and differ from societies. This
argument starts with the view that moral opinions vary among many people. Since there is not
a universal agreement on values, then values can t be objective. He uses relativity in response to
cultural relativism and states that individuals and groups don t come to their values and reflect
way of life; people practice their way of life and then come to their values. Different morals
come from different ways of life instead of having different views on moral beliefs. With this
being said, if objective values aren t the reason for moral beliefs, then there is no reason to
believe in ethical claims. The argument of queerness can take form being metaphysical. The
metaphysical concept states that if there is such a thing of objective values, they wouldn t be like
anything else. If these values were to exist, they would be really queer and unusual. If objective
values did occur, one would need a unique, moral sense, but ultimately objective values can t exist

Major Advantages Of Functional Behavioral Assessment
According to Raymond (2012), FBA is the process of gathering information about a learner s
behaviors in order to determine the purpose of a problem behavior in addition to its antecedents
and consequences . This process is for all students regardless if they have a disability or not. Once
the target behaviorhas been implemented, a hypothesis can be developed and more effective
behavioral interventions can be designed and implemented, including PBIS. All data used to create
these implementations need to be recent...properly collected and interpreted . In addition to our
textbook s information, I also found this: Functional behavioral assessment is a test that is meant
for identifying the reason for behaviors displayed by individuals with severe cognitive and
communication problems. (...) The following are key benefits gained from a functional behavioral
assessment.
1.Offers a deeper insight
The major advantage of functional behavioral assessment is that it looks beyond all the unsuitable
behaviors themselves. In fact, the focus of this test is to classify the social and environmental
factors that are responsible for causing certain behaviors. This wide perspective offers a deeper
insight of the reason behind a person s behavior. Hence, a functional behavioral assessment helps in
explain the reasons why someone behaves badly, which is very helpful when dealing with various
problematic behaviors.
2.Enhances child development

Thesis Of The Alchemist
Some may refer to The Alchemist as a best selling novel written by Paulo Coelho which explains
the ideas of having a dream, or Personal Legend, and going through obstacles to conquer it. The
book starts off like any other, introducing and describing the main characters, in this case
Santiago is the first to share the interest of peers reading the story. He is said to be a small town
shepherd boy who will do anything for his flock of sheep. In the opening scene of the story,
Santiago takes his flock to an abandoned church and lies down under a sycamore tree hoping to
get some rest. He is soon woken up from a disturbing dreamwhich foreshadows further into the
story of his own Personal Legend. Later in the book, Santiago is faced with multiple tests to be
successful in finding his treasure. Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find
your treasure (Coelho 15). Paulo continues to add characters in the book that help Santiago
throughout his journey. To begin his long journey, Santiago meets a wise old king name King
Melchizedek. He is in a local market when the king walks up and asks Santiago what he is
reading. The king continues to say that the book he is reading is important but irritating because
it describes the characters inability to choose their own Personal Legend. When Santiago asks
where this mysterious stranger is from, King Melchizedek replies with I am from many places,
but I was born in Salem as I am the king there (Coelho 64). Accepting his statement as true,
Santiago continues the conversation allowing them to eventually talk about his dream of the
Pyramids. The king wants to help Santiago, but for a price of six sheep. Before leaving with

Building A Financial Portfolio For A Hypothetical Client
Introduction This report will lay out the various steps involved in construction a financial
portfolio for a hypothetical client. This report will lay out the various steps involved, right from
the acquisition of the client, to the constructing of a portfolio, and back testing that portfolio to
see how the portfolio performed over the most recent one or three year period. The process of
portfolio management involves a lot of subjective and objective analysis, especially when dealing
with individual high net worth clients. While the definition of a high net worth client varies, it is
usually taken to mean an individual with more than $1 million of investable assets excluding
collectibles, consumer durables and the primary residence (The Guardian, 2014). For the purpose
of this report, our hypothetical client has the following characteristics: Age: 56 Employment
Status: Employed Time Horizon: 25 years Investable Assets: $5 million Domicile: London, United
Kingdom Years to Retirement: 5 Level of Risk Aversion: High Other preferences: Not looking for
capital growth, mainly income with low volatility; Prefer passive investing The objective of any
portfolio manager is to maximize return for a given level of risk, or minimize risk to achieve a
certain level of return. The objectives relate to making decisions about the investment mix,
matching investments to objectives, and balancing risk versus performance (CFA Society, 2010).

American Red Cross Ethical Issues Essay
The American Red Cross has stood for a place that people to go to for help when anything
catastrophic has happened in their lives. It has been around since the 1880 s and made a place in
the United States years later. It has been there to help during World Wars, earthquakes, hurricanes,
tornadoes, floods, fires, blood donations etc. It has helped millions of people during tragic times.
You never think of the Red Cross as an organization that has ethical issues but they do and it has
cost them their image. Elizabeth Dole was a wonderful womanwho kept the ARC running like a
well oiled machine but since she left there has been numerous people that have taken her place and
then had to leave due to questionable actions. It seems that ever since 911, the Red Cross has been...

For example when online donations came in for these disasters they were not equipped to
handle them. They had to have tech employee s work round the clock to make sure the websites
could handle the amount of traffic it received. Another ethical problem is, trusting its leaders
and workers implicitly. Times have changed and we cannot have that. People in today s world
do not have the same morale fiber that they used to have when we were little. Organizations like
the Red Cross now need to come up with better ethical standards. They have done so by not
having too many people at the top. Instead of 50 they now have 20. They also need to have
controls in place that will ensure that employee misconduct will no longer be a problem. In
addition people need to be trained in ethics and be made to sign ethical documents that spell out the
companies ethical procedures, which the Red Cross has done. The Red Cross needs to be more
transparent about where its money donations are going. Transparency is huge and there would be
no question if the ARC adopted this practice(Thorne,

Organized Crime Definition
It is very difficult to give one unified definition for the term Organized Crime . Similarly it is very
difficult to give one concise definition for the term Organized Crime Groups . The conventional
definitions of the organized crime does not provide us with any single definition for such groups
but provides us with certain characteristics that are most commonly found in the criminal groups
also used synonymously with the criminal enterprises. The FBI defines a criminal group or a
criminal enterprise as a group of individuals with an identified hierarchy, or comparable structure,
engaged in significant criminal activity. These organizations often engage in multiple criminal
activities and have extensive supporting networks ( Organized Crimen.d.)

The group exists for a period of time and finds its roots deep inside the system by making
contacts. These groups aim to commit at least on crime punishable by at least four years
incarceration ( Organized Crime n.d.). The main goal of the group is to produce illegal profit.
Most of these groups have their terms with the influential individuals in the government or
society in order to obtain immunity from the investigation or any kind of arrest. The
organizations can have a centralized leadership or a decentralized one in the form of a
committee. The rules that these groups follow are very adaptive and flexible. For example, the
productivity of the illegal drugs can be increased with the increase in the demand of the illegal
goods. Similarly the number of employs might also be increased or decreased accordingly.
Another very important characteristic of such organizations is that they often invest their money
in the legal kinds of businesses as well. These businesses provide them with an alibi as well as a
cover up for all the kinds of illegal crimes that they commit. The most common kinds of criminal
activities that these organized groups are involved in are bribery, mail fraud, drug

Essay about Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern...
Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern are Dead, a humorous piece of self reflexive theater that draws upon Shakespeare
s Hamlet as the source of the story. The actual device of self reflexive theater is used so well in
Stoppard s play that it reads like the love child of a play and a compelling critical essay. The play
is academic yet conversationally phrased and it deepens our understanding of the original play but
also criticizes it. The aspect of self reflexive theater is used to comment on theater itself but also
as a presentation of ideas and analysis that had previously had no place on the plot centric set up of
stage and audience. The essay Rosencrantz and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They go through the key plot points of Hamlet culminating in this noteworthy exchange: ROS. To
sum up: your father, whom you love, dies, you are his heir, you come back to find that hardly was
the corpse cold before his young brother popped onto the throne and into his sheets, thereby
offending both legal and natural practice. Now why exactly are you behaving in this extraordinary
manner? GUIL. I can t imagine!
Stoppard is commentating on Shakespeare s writing, by portraying onstage the ignorance that
is required of the characters for the original plot of Hamlet to work. The meat of the scene isn t
to insult the duo, but for the critically inclined audience to analyze the sort of logical leaps we
take in order to participate in a narrative. The traditional outlet for such observations were
academic journals and essays but Stoppard is exhibits these ideas onstage for a mass audience.
The Player exemplifies my point (bloated and wriggling as it is) of the unique space that
Stoppard is trying to occupy with the play. The Player is at once detached and involved in the
happenings onstage (textual evidence? How about on page 25 when Guildenstern and the Player
discuss fate. Guildenstern asks Yours [fate] or ours? The Player answers It could hardly be one
without the other ). The Player, in my opinion, diffuses

Syri A Country Filled With Violence, Poverty, And Instability
Syria has always been a country filled with violence, poverty, and instability. From 1946, when it
gained its independence from France, there has always been turmoil and political unrest in the
country. The Ba ath Party s regime began formally in 1966, although similarly minded factions had
control since 1947, and it marked the first stable Syrian government. Syrias ruling political party is
made up of members of the Syrian Alawite population, a minority in a predominantly Sunni
country. Up until today, the Ba ath Party has maintained iron like control over Syria, with the
Assad family leading the party and the country since 1970. Hafez al Assad began his rule in 1970,
and his son, current president Bashar al Assad, took power after his death in 2000. When the
younger Assad first came to power, the West was ready for a more moderate Syria to be created,
due to the fact that Assad had a western education and at one point was studying to become an
eye doctor in London, England. However, western expectations were proved to be extremely
wrong, as Assad has most definitely not created a moderate Syria, and arguably he has even made
the country more right wing. He established unilateral control for himself and the Ba ath Party
multiple times by declaring states of emergency in Syria, and he has ruled with an even stronger
grip than his father. Since the beginning of the Arab Spring, or more accurately the Long Arab
Winter, Bashar al Assad has only tightened his control, and he

Immigrate To Canada
Top Reasons to Immigrate to Canada
Canada has a multicultural society and relies heavily on immigration. The aging population of
Canada makes it imminent for them to open up their gates for immigrants from other countries.
According to a research, it was found that Canadians above the age of 65 years comprise 16.1% of
Canada s total population and compared to this the population of under 15s is considerably low.
This has created a void that must be filled with the help of immigration.
Major problems pertaining to aging population are:
в—ЏHuge burden on the economy
в—ЏLess workers in the workforce
в—ЏMore expenditure on pension and healthcare
в—ЏMore taxes for the current workforce

The country also provides a right to education to its Citizens and permanent residents. Thousands of
international students migrate every year to continue their edification in one of the top notch
institutes in Canada, This means that you are not the only one who is thinking of migrating to
Canada for education.
Travel
Canada is also a great travel destination and can provide a great bang for every buck you put into
your travel. The iconic Niagara Falls is one of the most alluring sites to witness. Canada has spots
for people travelling in solitude or in a group.
Vancouver houses the hockey team vancouver canucks and is filled with places that can provide
you an exotic wining and dining experience. The SkyTrain enables travellers to to soak in the
majestic view of Canadian cities from quite a height. Some urban cities even have a bucolic setting
due to the type of architecture. There are other great spots that you can visit like Quebec, Granville
islands and so on.
Ease of Immigration
Just to reiterate my point, Canada needs immigrants and that is why the immigration process
focuses on young and skilled workers. This is quite apposite as skilled workers will be able to
contribute a lot to the economy of Canada. Canada does not just make it easy for you to migrate

The Pay Gap And Gender Discrimination
Taylor Bruton
Professor Kathy Dillion
English 211
November 10, 2014
Abstract
For this paper, my objective was to investigate the pay gap and gender discrimination in the
workplace. Through systematic examination, this paper explores numerous factors correlating to
the wage gap such as occupational choices and annual earnings. On average, women have lower
income due to emphasis on familial responsibilities and desiring more accommodating work
schedules than men. The wage gap primarily exists within same occupational fields. In these fields,
women were often faced with the glass ceiling and unable to advance in higher positions because of
their gender. Women also earned less pay since less likely to ask for promotions or higher wages.
In short, gender shouldn t be a factor in measuring equal pay.
Taylor Bruton
Professor Kathy Dillion
English 211
November 10, 2014
Mind the Wage Gap
Throughout history, women have typically been undermined and denied the same equal rights as
men. From the Equal Pay Act to the Paycheck Fairness Act, women have fought an uphill battle
for their gender equality. Women earn less than men in almost every job occupation regardless of
their race, age, ethnicity, or academic credibility. Most often, the emphasis that women place on
family leading to breaks in employment and a desire for more flexible working hours negatively
impacts their career trajectory, and is correlated with issue of the nationwide wage gap.

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, By Francis Scott...
The story The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by Francis Scott Fitzgerald shows society s
refusal of accepting anyone out of the ordinary. The story is about a man named Benjamin Button
who is born as a 60 year old man. As he ages from the day he is born his body and brain grows
younger and younger until he eventually forgets everything he has achieved in life, has the brain of
a newborn and then fades into nothingness.
In the face of a remarkable occurrence the only thing that Button s community cares about is their
reputation kept through conformity, although having money can earn a higher place on the social
ladder. At first his familyis shocked that Benjamin is their child, his Father says , My heavens! he
murmured, in an ecstasy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does this to show that in 1860 and still today people care about being judged by society so
much that they try extremely hard to make themselves acceptable by following harsh and foolish
conformities and Fitzgerald thinks this is wrong. I agree with Fitzgerald s point of view, people
should care less about being examined by society and trying to fit in, and more about being their
very best selves because when people get too wrapped up in their appearance they forget who they
really are.
Benjamin learns a great deal about life and society through the story. Such as learning to deal
with judgement and comments from society and also learning more about himself as a person.
This made me realise that I should also focus less about what others judge me on and focus more
on how I can challenge myself and grow bigger as a person.
I found the story, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button very inspirational. Fitzgerald shows
society s refusal of accepting anyone out of the ordinary in a creative and intriguing story. It
showed me how society can affect people and how I can grow as a

Vermiculite Lab Report
I believe that insoluble solid #3 is actually Vermiculite. I believe this mainly because of the
appearance, the color, and reaction to flame. I also did a density test for vermiculite just for
small reference. The color of vermiculite seems to be either tanish or really light orange. The
only other solid that has a tanish/ light orangish color is sand. This insoluble solid cannot be
Sand because when I did the reaction to flame characteristic property test, it was glowing and if

Potassium Permanganate which has a density of about 2.7 g/ml. This solid cannot be Potassium

  • 2. The Demon Lover Literary Analysis In the realms of the World Wars, love is simply expressed through heartfelt words dancing across the margins of decorative paper. In the short story, The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen, the main character endures the hardships of retaining mental sanity when facing a past lover returning home years later. In the same way, the poem Answers to Letters by Tomas TranstrГ¶mer explains in first person point of view the overbearing weight of anxious thoughts arising from timeelapsing. Using comparable symbols, The Demon Loverand Answers to Letters characters illustrate how unstable weather patterns and faltering mental stability depict their roles in society, despite the roles of The Demon Lover revolving around a supernatural force. Enduring the uncontrollable force above, the weather illustrates the sudden intensities of the plot in The Demon Lover . Mrs. Drover embodies the perfect illusion of a lovesick puppy , the weather mocking her as bright August sky. The couple utters their goodbyes in the nearby garden. The emotions run high and promises of returning leave the young soldier s lips with such devotion. According to author Elizabeth Bowen, the clouds have a mind of their own: It was dark; they were saying good bye under a tree (348). The weather is speaking beneath the words on the page, foreshadowing the turmoil that lies ahead. After years of no contact, the letter arriving at the old London home throws Mrs. Drover off guard. The unaware and apprehensive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Achievements of India in Space Research ACHIEVEMENTS OF INDIA IN SPACE RESEARCH (1960 1970) The Indian space program began establishing itself with the launch of sounding rockets, which was complimented by India s geographical proximity to the equator. These were launched from the newly established ThumbaEquatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) , built near Thiruvananthapuram in southern Kerala. Initially, American sounding rockets like the Nike Apache, and French sounding rockets like the Centaure, were fired and used for studying the upper atmospheric electrojet, which until then had only been studied from ship based sounding rocket launches in the Pacific Ocean. These were soon followed by British and Russian rockets. However, since day one, the space program had grand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1993, the time had come for the maiden flight of the PSLV. The first launch was a failure. The first successful launch took place in 1994, and since then, the PSLV has become the workhorse launch vehicle placing both remote sensing and communications satellites into orbit, creating the largest cluster in the world, and providing unique data to Indian industry and agriculture. Continual performance upgrades have increased the payload capacity of the rocket significantly since then. By this time, with the launch of the PSLV not far away, it had been decided that work should begin on the next class of launch vehicles, intended to place larger satellites into geostationary transfer orbit (GTO), and thus a launcher partly derived from the PSLV design, but featuring large liquid strap on motors and a cryogenic upper stage motor, was devised the Geostationary Satellite Launch Vehicle.(2000 )Major achievement which seems to have gone largely unnoticed is ISRO s successful ground testing of the cryogenic engine on November 15, 2007. This test conducted for its full flight duration of 720 seconds at the Liquid Propulsion test facility at Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu, puts India on the world map of cutting edge rocket propulsion technology. Only five other nations The US, Russia, Japan, China and France currently have this capability.Cryogenicengines are important for launch of satellites, particularly of the INSAT variety which ... Defective cutaneous wound healing is of major clinical importance as it may lead to serious complications like necrosis and septicaemia. Chronic wound inflammation and chronic wound ulcers like pressure ulcers, chronic venous ulcers, and most commonly diabetic foot ulcers carry a high risk of non traumatic amputation and high morbidity rate. The available therapeutic trials are not sufficient. Understanding the molecular basis of wound healing can help in the development of novel therapeutic approaches. It has an important role in controlling fluid loss from the body, regulation of body temperature and protection against microorganisms or other external influences (Nestle et al., 2009). The skin comprises three distinct histological layers which are: Epidermis, Dermis and the subcutaneous layer of adipose tissue (Kanitakis, 2002). The epidermis is the external layer of the skin, mainly composed of keratinized stratified squamous epithelial. Epidermis is made up of keratinocytes (90%); melanocytes (8%) and the other (2%) represent Langerhans cells, Merkel cells and immunologically active cells derived from bone marrow (Kolarsick et al., 2011). Next to the epidermis is the dermis, which is composed of connective tissues (collagen and elastic fibres), blood vessels, sensory nerve endings, sebaceous glands, sweat glands, extracellular matrix (ECM), hair follicles and cells like dermal dendritic cells, fibroblasts, mast cells and macrophages. The dermis provides nutrition and support to the epidermis (Burr and Penzer, 2005). The last layer that separate the skin from internal parts of the body is called subcutaneous layer which is primarily composed of adipose tissue that acts to regulate body temperature in addition to its involvement in sensory and protective functions (James et al., 2006; ... • 7. Relationship Between Divorce As A Private Problem And How... A phrase coined by C. Wright Mills, exercising one s Sociological Imagination means to observe the well defined link between personal problems and public issues in society. While the sociological imagination can be applied to a multitude of factors, the focus of this paper is to outline the relationship between divorceas a private problem and how it is reflected into the public sphere. According to the National Health Statistics Report, nearly half of all first marriages end in divorce (Casey et al. 2012). As this rate has drastically increased since the mid 20th century, divorce has begun to create many setbacks for society in terms of the economy, crimes rates, mental health capacity, and academic achievements. While initially divorce was seen as an issue for families individually, society as a whole is increasingly subject to facing the repercussions. In an economic standpoint, divorce has caused thousands of people to sink into poverty stricken lifestyles. Typically, women are left in worse shape as they are usually given primary custody of their children and are left to support a household without adequate financial support from the fathers (Espenshade 1979). As more families are falling into poverty, the dependence on federal aid, such as the Aid to Families with Dependent Children, increases. In the year 2000, of the 50 percent of divorced families that reached poverty, 40 percent depended on AFDC. In conclusion, as divorce rates rise, more government ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The theme refers to when Montresor tells Fortunato his family motto, which was nemo me impune lacessit (Edgar 211). This short story is about revenge, where Fortunato has injured Montresor enough to make him want to murder Fortunato. Montresor didn t want Fortunato to get away with insulting him, so he vowed to get revenge. The history behind this story that has to do with Edgar Allan Poe himself is quite interesting. Using extended prose narrative, Murasaki Shikibu portrays Genji s romances, usually tragic, with different women in his life. Among all the women Genji has a romance with, there are three special women, Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao and Murasaki, he shows great love to. In his mind, His wife was her usual self, elegant and correct, with a guarded air that made him feel awkward (Page118). This awkward feeling made him not willing to spend extra time with Aoi and impelled him to search for alternative women especially those who are more submissive and docile. Genji s encounter with Yugao made him find an ideal woman who is submissive enough. According to Genji, Yugao is extremely submissive, willing to accept whatever he might do (Page67) and she had clung to him all day long with a timidity that he found touchingly childish (Page71). He found Yugao is much different from his current wife Aoi who is always cold him, and her submissiveness and timidity give Genji a feeling of superiority, which he did not have when he is with Aoi. When Genji cannot get enough love from his wife Aoi, he as no choice but to go out and search for alternatives. Even after the dreadful 9/11 attacks, terrorists remain diligent at planning attacks against the United States and its allies. Although not on the same scale as the 9/11 attacks, terrorists have successfully executed plots in the United States, the United Kingdom and France. For example, on April 15, 2013, an attack at the Boston Marathon occurred, killing three people and injuring 264 individuals. In the United Kingdom, on 7 July 2005, the London bombing incidents took place. Fifty two individuals were killed and 700 were injured. The setting in Nadine Gordimer s The Bridegroom is used to define and tell the reader about the characters and the relationships in the short story. This essay will serve to prove how this is achieved by first examining how the setting is used to define the character of the bridegroom. Thereafter, the way in which the setting tells the reader about the bridegroom s relationship with his bride will be discussed. The relationship between the bridegroom and the bride s family and the conveyance of this relationship through the setting will then be explored. Throughout the short story, Piet crosses over the distance between the two camps numerous times, moving back and forth between (Gordimer 73) them. The fact that Piet moves from one camp to the other with ease suggests that the relationship between him and the bridegroom is more relaxed and amiable than that between the bridegroom and the other workers. It also indicates the fact that Piet has relationships with both the bridegroom and the black workers. Piet is therefore not as strictly confined to one camp as the other workers are. In this way, setting is used to tell the reader about the personal relationship between Piet and the bridegroom and Piet s ability to have relationships with the road workers simultaneously. The author makes effective use of setting to tell the reader about the characters and relationships found in The Bridegroom . Setting is used to convey the bridegroom s precise and orderly character, as well as his isolated existence. His relationships with both his bride and her family are also expressed through the use of setting. Finally, the setting of the bridegroom s camp and that of the road workers also serves to tell us about the relationships in the camp. Food Guide Pyramid And Mypyramid In June 2011, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and The Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP) launched the MyPlate icon, a simple, yet powerful, visual cue to prompt consumers to think about their food choices across food groups and to build a healthy plate at meal times (Levine et al., 2012). MyPlate like its predecessors, the Food Guide Pyramid and MyPyramid follow the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), which includes communication tools and materials to assist with choosing healthy food options. In addition, the MyPlate Web site encompasses the SuperTracker tool to personalize food plans, consumer educational materials and e tools, social media engagement, and a partnership initiative to help coordinate and disseminate consistent messages of the DGA (Levine et al., 2012). Research shows that seventy two percent of individuals responsible for the purchasing and preparing of food for the entire household have a strong influence over meal consumption. Therefore, by targeting those individuals who purchase and prepare most of the food, the communication strategy for MyPlate can be best employed for all users. However, since the launch of MyPlate the African American community has failed to utilize the MyPlate website. None of these come close to the thing that has changed human history the most. Humans drove Neanderthals to their extinction, which contributed to the rise of human hegemony. Anything that has happened in human history was allowed to happen because of Neanderthalextinction. Humans have been around since about 200,000 years ago, and so have Neanderthals. But, humans were made differently than Neanderthals. Each specieshad specific differences and similarities. But had it not been for Neanderthals extinction, the world would be nothing how it is today. Neanderthals were pushed to extinction which allowed humans to thrive and conquer the world through a combination of Neanderthal and humandifferences, climate changes, and the unlikely team up between humans and dogs. We first need to know what is a Neanderthal, to truly see why Neanderthals went extinct. Neanderthals come from the Homo branch of life, which includes humans, homo sapiens. Neanderthals were similar and yet very different from humans. Paleoanthropologists prefer to think of Neanderthals as a completely different species than humans, they classify Neanderthals as homo neanderthalis. • 16. Fate Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Fate in Romeo and Juliet In modern times, and in the Elizabethan era, fate plays an important role in people s lives. Many people believe it to be written in stone, and unchangeable. Many others believe it to be controlled by a person s own actions. In Romeo and Juliet, fate is one of the main themes, described as having power over many of the events in the play. Fate is often called upon, wondered about, and blamed for mishaps. However, where fate is blamed in the play as the ultimate cause for a mishap, there is always an underlying action, or combination of them, on the part of human beings that decides the consequences. Human weakness, the loss of self control, is always the direct cause of a bad choice or mishap, and not fate itself. One of the most noted instances where fate is blamed for a mishap is when Romeo cries out the he supposedly is fortune s fool. He claims that fate has brought on Mercutio s death, and has lead him to kill Tybalt in revenge. In Act 3, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is seen to be upset at Mercutio s death and predicts that the days black fate on more days doth depend. (III, I, 118) Tybalt then re enters and Romeo becomes more upset that Tybalt is triumphant with Mercutio being dead (III, I, 121). I started golfing during high school and loved it for the single fact, Tiger Woods played it. Growing up I pictured golf as that once boring sport played by old white men lacking a fan base. Just like myself, many people hated the idea of watching golf, so the sport needed a change. Tour earnings were low, scoring was average, and young people did not want to pick up the sport. Tiger Woodscame on the tour in 1997 and astronomically changed the view of golf. The Tiger Effect on golf is real and more people have been trying to work harder to get to that Tiger bench mark. The first example of a femme fatale in this paper is Veda Pierce (Ann Blyth) in Mildred Pierce, which was released in 1945, when many American soldiers returned from World War II. During the WWII period, women were the main providers for their families while American men were at war, which led to increase independent American women. Mildred Pierce, the mother of Veda, is one of the strong women who is working hard to support herself and her children. In contrast to her mother s effort, Veda takes advantage of her mother s kindness and money. She also betrays her by having an affair with Monte Beragon, who is already married to her mother. Veda has the looks and knows how to use her looks to attract men. And she is so ambitious that she does anything in order to get the most important thing to her which is money to live the high class life. Ultimately, a femme fatale leads the male into ruin. How The Staining Of The Centromere Sequences Using Fish How the staining of the centromere sequences using FISH can be used to determine the sex of metaphase chromosomes and how immunostaining of the synaptomenal complex of meiotic cells can show the stages involved in prophase. Abstract Fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) and immunostaining are both processes that allow for specific features within a chromosome to be observed. FISH is when a DNA probe that is fluorescently tagged complementary binds to a specific sequence in the chromosome, in this case, the sex chromosome centromeres. Therefore, since females have two X chromosomes and males have a single X and Y chromosome, the sex of the cell donor can be identified (Moers et al 1995). Meiosis is a form of cell division that halves the amount of chromosomes in sexually reproducing organisms (Bernstein et al 2011) to form gametes. In meiotic cell division, DNA replication is followed by two rounds of cell division to create four daughter cells, each with half the amount of chromosomes as the parent. Meiosis is split into two round called Meiosis I and Meiosis II and each round of meiosis is made up of four stages called prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. The longest, most complex stage of meiosis is Prophase I as it is split into 5 phases called lepotene, zygotene, pachytene, diplotene, and diakinesis (Tworzydlo et al 2016). In these stages of prophase, chromosome pairing, synaptomenal complex formation, and recombination occur. The formation of the synaptomenal complex allows for the chromosomes to know if they have successfully paired. Germ Theory Of Disease By Robert Koch And Louis Pasteur Introduction In the nineteenth century, two famous scientists Robert Koch and Louis Pasteur formally demonstrated that microorganisms were the cause of many diseases. This proposition has become known as Germ Theory of Disease . Not that this notion had never been touched before on the contrary, there have been ancient mentions as old as 36 BC from a roman scholar, Marcus Terentius Varro, that stated: certain minute creatures, which cannot be seen by the eyes, which float in the air and enter the body through the mouth and nose, and there cause serious diseases . The concept of Germ Theory of Disease suffered a major overturn in the twentieth century, when Metchnikoff showed that microorganisms could also act as beneficial agents and health promoters. Was there then launched the basis for what we now call probiotics. Thus, today we know we are, one way or the other, vastly colonized by microorganisms. It is certainly clear that these microorganisms are present forming heterogeneous and specific communities over large body surfaces. These colonization processes occur primarily on skin, vagina and the gastrointestinal tract. Even so, our body has a remarkable ability to protect itself against microbial invasions. In figure 12.5 it shows the relationship between components of fitness and energy systems. Both aerobic capacity and muscular endurance relate to the Aerobic system. The aerobic system uses oxygen and is generally one of low mid intensity and /or of a longer duration. Middles utilise this energy system because they continuously require energy production at an almost equal rate. 2.3 Wing Position Requirements The wings are the two outermost players on a field. So, if you love sports, you are the greatest athlete of all time. Yet, even though you are the greatest at what you do, imagine nobody appreciates you. Imagine yourself as a sports star, and you are the strongest, fastest, quickest athlete in history but no one knows your name. Instead, they focus on someone else who takes performances inhancers to help himself compete and even after the performance inhancers, he is still not as good as you. Still, everybody loves him and thinks he is amazing, while everybody does not even know who you are. How would you feel? Maybe you would feel unappreciated. You might feel underrated and you may feel like you have been done wrong. Well, what if I told you, there is a form of art where we do not show glory to the the best, instead we give it to others who some would say are undeserving. The form of art I am talking about is music. Well, why do I say that people give glory to ones who are less deserving? To make my point, think about this illustration. Take another form of art, painting. Imagine a famous artist is considered one of the best painters of all time. If you knew someone else was actually tracing their pictures and all they had to do was color between the lines, would you still call them the greatest painter of all time. No! Why not? • 34. Essay on Conscience of Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare s... The Conscience of the Queen William Shakespeare s play Hamlet is perhaps one of his most intriguing and scandalous pieces of work. One character who is liable for much of this excitement and outrage is Hamlet s mother, Queen Gertrude. To some readers and critics, Gertrude is conceived as an erratic, superficial and sensual woman. Others discern the Queen as an earnest, intellectual and sagacious woman whose tragic fault is her yearning for sexual satisfaction. Throughout the text, there are several legitimate arguments for both sides, but in the end, Hamlet seems to sum up the Queen s true persona with the words Frailty, thy name is woman . Evidence of Gertrudes true nature can be found in many instances through out the play such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hamlet s conflict with Gertrude is a main part of this play. A few characters in this play give insight on Gertrude that point in the direction of her being shallow and evil. One example is late in the first act when Hamlet cries O most pernicious woman! O villain, villain, smiling, dammed villain! This is when, deep in thought, Hamlet realizes that his mother could have possibly taken part in his father s death and he thinks she s evil. In Hamlet s head, everything makes sense now because it is now understandable how she got over the death so quickly. This is the first time that Hamlet realizes his mother s true character. This is a very imperative notion about Gertrude s personality because for her very own son to think a validation like this is extreme. Often times a man will love and defend his mother until the day he dies, while Hamlet, on the other hand, is thinking of her playing a role in his father s death. When the ghost speaks of Gertrude s speedy marriage, it provides more evidence of her shallowness. The King s ghost says that she is seeming virtuous . He is basically saying that while she looks holy and righteous, she isn t. The new King offered her something (or many things) that she wanted, and she took the bait and married him. • 36. The Searchers Narrative Structure Essay From Boy to Man: The Searchers Through the Eyes of Martin Pawley The narrative structure of John Ford s The Searchers is centered primarily around the actions and knowledge of men. Throughout the movie, men are the figures of action, they are out scouring the land for lost loved ones while the women stay home and wait with hope. In The Searchers, just as with any search, the limiting factor involved is knowledge. Ethan, the main character, begins the movie as the leader of the searchers. His assumed role as leader is due to his past excursions as a Texas Ranger. These past experiences enable Ethan to lead most effectively because they provide him with knowledge. After the first battle with the Native Americans, the crew is broken up due to Clayton taking a wounded man home. Ethan is prepared to drive on by himself, fueled by his racism, but Brad and Marty show their true colors and bravery, stepping up to accompany Ethan. Marty s willingness to risk his life to avenge his family s death signifies his transition to manhood. It also portrays the morals and ideals of 19th century western America. Although Marty is part Cherokee, he portrays the very American value of fighting in the name of what you believe in and what you love: freedom and family. John Ford uses Marty s Native American heritage along with his strong morals to contrastthe foundation of Ethan s racism, thus undermining racism in general. In the film, Ethan first appears as a strong American soldier while Marty is tainted with Indian blood. Upon further evaluation, it is clear that Ethan is a lost soul with no true friends or loving family. Ford uses Ethan s status as a social outcast to exemplify that being driven by racism leads to a lonely, unfulfilling life. Marty s relationship with Laurie proves to be important in the development of Marty s character. It gives Ford a medium to present Marty as the narrator. Ford uses letters from Marty to Laurie as a means of fast forwarding through the years of the hunt while still keeping the viewer updated on Marty and Ethan s progress. • 37. The World s Wife By. Duffy As suggested by the title of the anthology, Duffy s poems within The World s Wife place the focus on women in an inherently patriarchal and male dominated world. This is also true of Mrs Beast , in which Duffy reimagines the traditional fairy tale of The Beauty and the Beast to give Mrs Beast dominance over her husband, as well as financial and emotional independence. The opening lines of Mrs Beast set the tone for the rest of the poem, linking all of the characters mentioned throughout The World s Wife , as well as listing many other women with stories that would fit the themes of the sequence due to their exploitation by men. This acts as a warning to men from Mrs Beast, who sees these women in herself, commenting: so when you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This inversion of the traditional roles in a fairytale is also present throughout the rest of the stanza, as Mrs Beast describes herself as no longer a girl, knowing my own mind, / my own gold stashed in the bank, / my own black horse at the gates , demonstrating that she is able to take care of herself with no need for help. Moreover, her financial and emotional independence is highlighted by the anaphora of my own , with repetition similar to this used by Duffy throughout The World s Wife , particularly in Little Red Cap . However, the effect of the use of anaphora in Mrs Beast contrasts with its effect in Little Red Cap at the beginning of the sequence, which describes a girl progressing from innocence and naivety at childhood s end to saving herself and becoming independent ten years later. Despite these differences, both poems similarly reimagine fairytales, with Mrs Beast being what Little Red Cap could grow up to become with her new found independence, as Mrs Beast demonstrates her ability to take care of herself and be carried off at one wrong word, / one false move, one dirty look . In juxtaposition with this, the Beast is presented as submissive and similar to a slave rather than as the traditional handsome and arrogant prince of fairytales. The concept of objectivity plays a part in the theory of moral standards. Objectivity is used in the sense that a subject exists without its perception, and that one can come to the same conclusion as everyone else given the same sources /information. An object is in existence despite of any opinions or matters, which is why this principle is closely associated with being reality and truth. In fact, the focus of this test is to classify the social and environmental factors that are responsible for causing certain behaviors. This wide perspective offers a deeper insight of the reason behind a person s behavior. The book starts off like any other, introducing and describing the main characters, in this case Santiago is the first to share the interest of peers reading the story. He is said to be a small town shepherd boy who will do anything for his flock of sheep. In the opening scene of the story, Santiago takes his flock to an abandoned church and lies down under a sycamore tree hoping to get some rest. He is soon woken up from a disturbing dreamwhich foreshadows further into the story of his own Personal Legend. Later in the book, Santiago is faced with multiple tests to be successful in finding his treasure. Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure (Coelho 15). Paulo continues to add characters in the book that help Santiago throughout his journey. To begin his long journey, Santiago meets a wise old king name King Melchizedek. He is in a local market when the king walks up and asks Santiago what he is reading. The king continues to say that the book he is reading is important but irritating because it describes the characters inability to choose their own Personal Legend. When Santiago asks where this mysterious stranger is from, King Melchizedek replies with I am from many places, but I was born in Salem as I am the king there (Coelho 64). Accepting his statement as true, Santiago continues the conversation allowing them to eventually talk about his dream of the Pyramids. The king wants to help Santiago, but for a price of six sheep. Before leaving with Santiago s sheep he shares, The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon (Coelho 32). His message to Santiago reminds him that by following his dream he will witness beautiful sights and people, but that he should always remember the purpose of his travels. The actual device of self reflexive theater is used so well in Stoppard s play that it reads like the love child of a play and a compelling critical essay. The play is academic yet conversationally phrased and it deepens our understanding of the original play but also criticizes it. The Pay Gap And Gender Discrimination Taylor Bruton Professor Kathy Dillion English 211 November 10, 2014 Abstract For this paper, my objective was to investigate the pay gap and gender discrimination in the workplace. Through systematic examination, this paper explores numerous factors correlating to the wage gap such as occupational choices and annual earnings. On average, women have lower income due to emphasis on familial responsibilities and desiring more accommodating work schedules than men. The wage gap primarily exists within same occupational fields. In these fields, women were often faced with the glass ceiling and unable to advance in higher positions because of their gender. Women also earned less pay since less likely to ask for promotions or higher wages. In short, gender shouldn t be a factor in measuring equal pay. Taylor Bruton Professor Kathy Dillion English 211 November 10, 2014 Mind the Wage Gap Throughout history, women have typically been undermined and denied the same equal rights as men. From the Equal Pay Act to the Paycheck Fairness Act, women have fought an uphill battle for their gender equality. Women earn less than men in almost every job occupation regardless of their race, age, ethnicity, or academic credibility. Most often, the emphasis that women place on family leading to breaks in employment and a desire for more flexible working hours negatively impacts their career trajectory, and is correlated with issue of the nationwide wage gap. ... And so Lauryn Hill musically influenced her that she decided to become a singer. Blackmore grew up in a religious family and had little knowledge of secular music. • 56. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, By Francis Scott... The story The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by Francis Scott Fitzgerald shows society s refusal of accepting anyone out of the ordinary. The story is about a man named Benjamin Button who is born as a 60 year old man. As he ages from the day he is born his body and brain grows younger and younger until he eventually forgets everything he has achieved in life, has the brain of a newborn and then fades into nothingness. In the face of a remarkable occurrence the only thing that Button s community cares about is their reputation kept through conformity, although having money can earn a higher place on the social ladder. At first his familyis shocked that Benjamin is their child, his Father says , My heavens! he murmured, in an ecstasy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He does this to show that in 1860 and still today people care about being judged by society so much that they try extremely hard to make themselves acceptable by following harsh and foolish conformities and Fitzgerald thinks this is wrong. I agree with Fitzgerald s point of view, people should care less about being examined by society and trying to fit in, and more about being their very best selves because when people get too wrapped up in their appearance they forget who they really are. Benjamin learns a great deal about life and society through the story. Such as learning to deal with judgement and comments from society and also learning more about himself as a person. This made me realise that I should also focus less about what others judge me on and focus more on how I can challenge myself and grow bigger as a person. I found the story, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button very inspirational. Fitzgerald shows society s refusal of accepting anyone out of the ordinary in a creative and intriguing story. It showed me how society can affect people and how I can grow as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Vermiculite Lab Report I believe that insoluble solid #3 is actually Vermiculite. I believe this mainly because of the appearance, the color, and reaction to flame. I also did a density test for vermiculite just for small reference. The color of vermiculite seems to be either tanish or really light orange. The only other solid that has a tanish/ light orangish color is sand. This insoluble solid cannot be Sand because when I did the reaction to flame characteristic property test, it was glowing and if you do the reaction to flame characteristic property test on sand, discoloration will happen. No discoloration happened at all with the insoluble solid. The density on the piece that we had was about 1.4 g/ml. I believe that insoluble solid #4 is aluminum. I believe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe this because the density of the rock was was around 3.0g/ml. The only solids that have a density around that are Sand which has a density of about 2.7g/ml, Sodium Peroxide which has a density of about 2.8g/ml, Aluminum which also has a density of around 2.7g/ml and Potassium Permanganate which has a density of about 2.7 g/ml. This solid cannot be Potassium Permanganate nor Sodium Peroxide because they are both soluble in water and are also soluble in the sludge liquid. I would say that this insoluble solid cannot be Aluminum because of the color. The color of the rock was a bit tanish and smothered with some black parts in it. During the reaction to flame characteristic property test, the rock started becoming more black as if it was either changing colors or melting a little. The rock didn t have an odor either and this is why I believe that this insoluble solid is sand but in rock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
